Reviews of Pieces Board Game Bar And Restaurant
B.
The food was tasty and so were the drinks. I loved the game library. They had a good selection of games to choose from. Staff was friendly and helpful with figuring out game directions.
The waiters we always very attentive when the colored sticks are put in the air. It's a great way to to be to focus on the game, when you need something just put one, two, or all three colored sticks in the air to indicate what you need.
The waiter that took our order made great suggestions and gave a great review/description on the beyond sausage. It was very tasty.

What a fun experience! A few tips for your first visit:
1. Get on the wait list ASAP! Even though the website said they weren't busy, they were packed and we waited over 30 minutes.
2. There's a parking lot right next door where you pay $1/hour. Not a bad fee, although we got lucky finding someone leaving that paid for the day.
3. They have food and drinks available, but close down the kitchen from 2-3. We opted for the 2 for $5 cookie deal and they were the best cookies we'd EVER had!
4. There's so many board games to choose from, check out the list on their website ahead of time and do some research.
5. They have a great system of getting help with drinks, ordering food or games right at the table. Ask anyone, they are very helpful!
6. You pay $5/person to play the games, but children under 12 are free. They do discounts based on food or drink purchases though, so that helps.
7. Check their website for deal days when game fees are waived. Think fun girls night or date night with friends.
8. For a family of four we spent $30 with tip for 2.5 hours of games and 4 large cookies. We are already planning our next trip!

Had a private room for the family, and the $45 fee was worth the privacy and noise reduction. Mimosas could be a little stronger (no one needs that much OJ) but they said they’d had problems with guests getting a little rowdy so I could understand. Breakfast slinger was huge, with plenty of sausage, egg, gravy, and hash browns in just the right proportions. Games were well kept and clean, with our server providing a brief tutorial on ones we didn’t know.

I’d never heard of this place but what a cool vibe for people. The walls of games, good food and drinks are a steal.
You are charged a $5 library fee which covers your use of game lay. For every food/drink you order, $1 is deducted from the library fee. All of the food is under $15 so therefore your bill will be reasonable. It is loud but not “bar” loud. It’s a lot of loud outbursts from game play. I cannot wait to go back.
Also they offer a brunch with bottomless mimosas.

For a person who LOVES to play games of all kinds… this place is AMAZING! They showed us around for our first time and explained how everything worked. They had party games, the classics, and games that range from simple instructions to complex. It was so nice to just sit, drink, and eat on some yummy cookies/sliders while just being with friends playing new games. I wish I had one of these close to home, but now I have a new game to get my hands on and play with my family and students. 🤍 There is a $5 fee to help with the maintenance of games, which is 100% fair. 👏🏼

What an amazing find. Found out about Pieces last minute before taking our trip, and it will become a staple for our trips to St. Louis. Went during happy hour, sat right down, and had a blast. Kids loved it as well. Food was great.

Fun experience! Huge library of games to choose from. Games are color coded on complexity. They have staff picks set out and also have a Two-player section. There's a $5/person library fee, but each menu item ordered takes $1 off that fee. Excellent service - they utilize a flag system for ordering and game help. Staff are very responsive to the flags. Food is delicious!! Would definitely recommend

Off to a shaky start, but I was generally so pleased with my visit to Pieces.
I was exploring Soulard on foot, and went in looking for a restroom before I ate. I have to say that the restroom was messy, cleaning supplies everywhere, a strong odor, water on the floors and around the toilets, and the stickiest floors imaginable. At that point I did almost turn around and leave.
I went inside the restaurant itself. There was no one at the door and no indication of whether I should seat myself. I had a seat at an empty table...and sat there for some time. No one came with water or a menu or anything, though servers were coming and going. Finally I noticed this little...canister in the middle of the table with three different colored flags, one to signal you wanted food, so I put that up.
This brought a server right to my table, and they said, "Are you joining the party back there?" and gestured to a full table. I said, "...No?" They said, "Have you been here before?" No. "Was there someone at the door to tell you how things worked?" Again I said no. "Okay, what can I get for you?" I was like, "...A menu?" Then another server brought me water before that person returned with a menu and water. I was like, "Okay, is this the first puzzle?" 😅
Anyway. I ordered an Edith Grey tea and the Midwest Poke Bowl. I appreciate the numerous veggie options. I asked the server about one-person games and several were suggested and explained well. I picked one out to try, then noticed my phone was dying and spent some time finding the power bank and cords in my bag.
The poke bowl came out before I'd gotten through the instructions, which was fine. It was delicious, even with tofu in place of fish. Lime was really unexpected and very tasty. At about this time I started noticing some coordination issues, and my activity tracker buzzed to let me know my heart rate was high. I've had some issues with vertigo that have been exacerbated this week, so I took meclizine I'd brought with me, but it was only getting worse. I ordered an Uber and my phone DIED right as I confirmed it! The staff were wonderful in helping my dizzy, frustrated self find a place to charge my phone and trying to help me stay calm. I was upset to have to leave so suddenly, but what I was able to eat of the poke bowl was delicious, and I hope to return another time.

My husband and I had a wonderful reception hosted at Pieces in their clubhouse rooms. We wanted a laid back event with good food and drinks and the Pieces staff delivered! They did a great job taking care of our group of over 60 people while the main area was also packed and our friends all raved about how awesome the drinks, cake, and cookies were. It was absolutely the perfect event for us and I really appreciate how well taken care of we were by everyone. Would highly recommend Pieces for both just a fun date night and for an event!

Great for families! Excellent Menu/ Service and entertainment. So many different options for games. We played a couple of different games with the kids. They made some suggestions to help get us started.
Kirsten Hastings
Got in, in great timing from the online waitlist. Great food, environment, and game selection. Not super loud; so much fun. We will be back.

This is one of the best bars I've ever been to! It has such a great atmosphere and is great if you want to spend a dinner with your friends! The selection of games is unbeatable and the drinks are amazing! They have a good variety for small and big groups. I've been in one of their private rooms for a party and in the main area and both times we were always thrilled with the service! I very much enjoy the flags to request your server instead of having them have to come check in on us every 10 minutes. The only two recommendations I could honestly come up with is to possibly see about extending out the bar depth to allow for easier two person play or adding in just 1-2 two person tables so then if someone goes on a date they don't take up one of the larger 4 person tables. Other than that it is a great time and definitely my favorite restaurant and bar in St Louis so far.
Eva Kru
An amazing place with many, many, many games to pick from. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They offer space for private parties.
If you like board games make sure to bring your friends along to learn something new :)

I enjoyed my experience at Pieces. I went once back in August. I just went for the games only as I don't really like to drink during the work week and had already eaten before I came. I can't really give any feedback on the food or drinks, but I think the place in general is really nice. Area is a bit on the sketchy side, so just be aware if you are a single female heading here. I was able to find parking somewhat close-by and walked out with my group. They have a very large selection of games, which are tons of fun. I'd also recommend this as a place to try out some games before you decide to purchase them on your own later on. There is a $5 library fee for coming to play the games, which I wasn't bothered to pay since I'm sure it takes them awhile to clean them, replace pieces, etc. I would recommend this place, I may come back in the future depending on if I am around this area.
Robyn Marie Cler
Super fun place with great food and drinks. Staff are helpful for game recommendations and rule clarification. I love the "calling" system in place for service- you raise different colored flags for different service requests- so you're able to control the amount of staff interaction. I typically spend about $100 (don't forget to tip!) for an appetizer, 4 drinks, 2 dinners, and 2 people to play games all night. Absolutely worth every penny!
Kim Wright
This is a great concept! It's easy to meet up with friends or family in a relaxed atmosphere and have entertainment at your fingertips that your group chooses. Loads of games available. Food is nothing special, but that is not really the focus of the venue and there are enough food and drink options to please most. The disappointing features of the venue are the lack of effort in ambiance, maintenance, and comfort. Guests, especially those in reserved rooms, are staying for hours. The general "feel" of the space could be so much more.

This was my first time here. I had heard it was a fun place, and it was all true. That is assuming you like games as much as my friends and I do. We showed up at about 7 and hung till almost 11. Many drinks and appetizers were ordered. Everything was quite tasty. I loved the geeky drink theme. They also had an extensive non-alcoholic menu, which is quite thoughtful. I got some nachos, and it was a beast. I didn't make it through half of them. But they were quite tasty. We dealt with several staff while there and all were extremely helpful. The only negatives I have are that a few appetizers were overly salty and that parking is minimal.
Sarah Cavanaugh
Had such a great time here with a group of friends! We made reservations ahead of time, otherwise it would have been a long wait for a size like us. The games were a lot of fun and well taken care of! I had the spicy lo mein bowl which was fantastic! Overall great time and will definitely be back :)

Still in shock by the awesomeness of this establishment. Honestly, might be the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. But it’s more than a restaurant. The food menu alone was amazing with light healthy options and some more pub like stuff. Then you add the whole experience of board games, super creative drink menu, and DONUTS. Incredible helpful staff who care about the customer experience. This is 100% a 5 star.
Tiffanie Atherton
Loved this restaurant. Very friendly staff. Good food. Yummy drinks. The overall game theme is nicely executed & love the idea of a board game restaurant! I was in heaven. Every table looked like they were having a blast. Great for a family outing or catching up with friends. Would be awesome for a first date! Highly recommended.
Alex Cooper
The food here is fantastic, their impossible beef taco was my favorite, and I love normal beef! The beer selection is a little limited, but that's not a big issue. It does the job, and they have all the main ones you'd want. It's not about the beer. It's about the GAMES. And there are SO many. The worst part about the games is that you'll lose time playing them, because there's so many you'll spend lots of time picking one! It's a great place, with a lot of value to provide over multiple visits. It's not a one and done type of place, because you'll always find a new game to play. Be it a date or hanging out with a group of friends, you'll find something here.
Sasha Moore
Loved the brunch! Those breakfast tacos were sooo good. Drinks were reasonably priced. Awesome game library. And yeah there’s a “library fee” but they give you a dollar off per item you order off the menu.
I love their ordering system so they know when you need something.
spencer orvis
We love this place. I personally am not a huge game person. But this place is always so much fun. And the staff is excellent excellent excellent!!!!! Drinks are fun and good and they can make other cocktails if you ask. Just a great place and always good staff.
Jordan Bartholme
This place is an AMAZINGLY fun time for small gatherings!! Get some friends together and enjoy good food and drinks while adventuring through their EXTENSIVE collection of over 750 board and card games! 🧩♟️🎲🃏🙌
💡There are no reservations and wait times can approach & exceed 1hr during peak times in the evening, so recommend arriving by or before 6 if possible. If you do have to wait you can always hang out at the bar though. 💡
A can't-miss option for a fun night out with friends! 💯
Krystal Pollard
Pieces is still am absolute favorite place of mine. Love the drinks, atmosphere, and it's a great date night or family night out place. Great selections of board games and the staff is typically knowledgeable on how to play every one of them.
madison flieg
This place was so fun!! The food was so good and the board game selection was huge. The only complaint I would maybe have is the service was a bit slow. But we could tell that they were very busy so it’s not a big deal. Recommend this place for a friends hangout or a family night!
Elizabeth Bell
We had SO much fun. The food was delicious!! We had the midwest poke bowl (top choice), the sliders & the giant pretzel, plus drinks. Everyone devoured the food which came out quickly & was scrumptious! We played Trouble with our kiddos, but wished we had more time because there were so many games to try out. We can't wait to come back again, just wish it was a little closer!
Nicole Hercules
Fun place! Can be a bit overwhelming with ALL the games. But if you go in wanting fun you can find it! Food was great and they have a really decent mocktail menu!
Stephen Arnett
First visit and the food was delicious. Very cool ordering solution to get perfect service when you need drinks, food, the check or help with a game. And by the way, they have an amazing number of games to take to your table and play before, during or after a meal. And on Wednesday nights, they start trivia in the restaurant. Will be back!
Lisa Bene
What a delightful find! We were passing thru downtown St. Louis on a Sunday night and so many places were closed. Physically finding this place was a challenge but we were so glad we persevered: from the initial amazement when we walked thru the door, to the friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff to the discovery of a new and fun game, we all had a blast. And the availability of food and drinks was the icing on the cake! We will be talking about this experience for a long time to come.
Donnie Barbiea
The vibe and staff here are on point. I give a little bit of a pass since the food is largely bar fair. The ceasar was fine but slightly underdressed which was solved with a side of dressing. The poke bowl was also fine but the rice was overcooked. Nothing terrible but nothing that stood out as amazing.
Rick Anderson
Fantastic facility for playing games and eating food. This is a full service restaurant with great wait staff and awesome service from all the employees. The number of games is enormous! The private rooms are perfect for playing your favorite role playing game. Our group had an absolute blast, good food and and a fun time. Note... Plenty of parking across the street is free on Sundays.
Beth Wooldridge
We stopped in to have a couple mimosas and play a couple of games. We did not eat so I cannot rate the food. The place has a very lively atmosphere and would be fun with a group.
Brad (Pecosbrad)
Over all my wife and I had a very great experience here. I would highly recommend using the Yelp app in order to sign in before getting there and also to check on the wait times. But even though we waited for an hour we were able to get a drink and play game in the waiting area so it didn't feel like an hour. Their food seems decently priced and good and their drinks are reasonable. They have a lot of options for everyone. Also they truly have a plethora of games for any type of player. I'd definitely recommend this place to others. Great staff and great experience all around.
Jeffrey
First time visit...first of many for sure! Everything about this place is superb. The food menu is truly tasty, diverse, and vegetarian friendly. The drink menu is just as good, with a solid range of cocktails and beer. The wine selection is very short. The creativity of both food and drink is stellar and definitely well thought out. Be prepared to wait. At 6 pm on a Friday the wait was an hour. Coupled with a tight bar area makes it very crowded. But, this shows how popular it is quickly becoming! And, rightly so... Because I will definitely be back, which takes us to the best part, the games! Literally, I had no idea this many games existed and they even have a section for games made by st Louisans. You can stay at long as you want and don't even need to keep eating or drinking. There is a $5 'library fee' per person which is totally worth it because somehow, someway, all of the games are in excellent condition. For each item you order, drink or eat, one dollar gets subtracted from the library fee. While I could go on and on about how great this place is, it boils down to this, for a perfect date night with cocktails and plenty of food, plus games totaling about three total hours, my tab was $80. Pretty darn good.
Carol Copeland
What a great family place. Games are categorized from easy to hard. Staff is very helpful. Great system if little flags on tables to get services. Food was good. Bacon us unforgettable. Saw a bridal shower taking place. Two moms with young girls playing Monoply Junior. Couples cuddled in a corner with bottomless m in mimosas. Just a very fun place.
Keren Gomez
Go play Anthromancer at Pieces!! And eat great food!
Jen Ulasiewicz
We have only lived in the area for just over a year now and I just recently discovered this place. Our kids were so excited to come here and check this place out and we had a blast. I was amazed at the knowledge of the rules for the games that some of the servers had and the whole idea of this place is really very well orchestrated. The food was delicious! I had the Boba Feta sandwich and it did not disappoint :) With over $20,000 in board game selections, we definitely need to come back and try out some more of them! My only complaint (and it's not really a complaint) is that I chose not to buy a t-shirt here for my 13-yr old son because it said bar on it and he can't wear that to school. If you ever change up your t-shirt design to something with just the pieces logo and no words, I will be a buyer. Thanks for a great time and we will be back very soon!
Ashley Cox
Great experience. We went in thinking we would only be there a couple hours, almost 5 hours later we finally left. Such a wide variety of game, 800+. Menu had a small selection but was good. I got the floating Yoda and Ginny got Tatooine sunrise. Staff was extremely friendly and helped pretty quick when needed. I loved the atmosphere and could have stayed longer if it wasnt so late. Will definitely come back next time we are in St Louis. Kid friendly as well. Plenty of parking, however we went during the week so I dont know what it would be like on the weekend.
Phil Ethridge
Pieces has over 1,000 board games, and charges a modest cover per person that is reduced based on the food items you buy.
Tucked away in a typical STL refurbished building style, the atmosphere at Pieces was buzzing, with friendly and helpful staff for newcomers like us. The menu is quite varied and the food was great, with a nice selection of local beers and unique cocktails.
Games are clearly labeled with green/yellow/red markers so you know what your signing up for in terms of skill and difficulty. Party & family games are also in a dedicated section, encouraging families with various ages to find just the right game for them.
We went on the last night of our trip to St. Louis and we all felt it was a fantastic cap to the vacation. Can’t wait to return!
Dakota Dancy
An excellent place to meet up with some friends and play some games paired with great food and drinks. There are tables of varying sizes to accommodate most groups. Visit their website for a full list of games in their library. Pieces is truly a gem.
sonny S
Great place for groups. They have games that cater to casuals up to more intense board games. Everyone in our group enjoyed it. Will come back.
Christine Cornett Baker
This place has TONS of games to choose from that are so fun and many that you will be seeing for the first time! They have a fun menu consisting of brunch items until 2pm and then after 3 they start dinner which has everything from noodles to tacos, salads, quesadillas, and chips! So how it works is you get charged $5/person to sit and play but for every menu item you get you knock off a $1. They also have the most delicious, fun drinks and pastries! See pics for details.
Madi Minear
Love this place!! The concept is so cool and it was so enjoyable getting to play board games with friends and drinks. The prices were a bit high and some of the games were a little dirty, but overall I love the idea and the atmosphere. The staff was careful to disinfect each game after use which made me feel better. Drinks were good and we loved the game-themed menu. Spinach artichoke dip was the perfect snack to have during our visit. We were visiting from out of town but I would totally hang out here often!
Jessica Adams
We had so much fun! The food was delicious. The games were endless. The wait staff was so friendly and helpful.
JP Allen
Nice food and a great place to hang out. Many people just along boardgames and having a nice time. Not sure If I would bring my kids here but that's because I don't want to bother everyone else with my kids. Prices are reasonable
Paula
Friendly staff, good food.. the games were cool ! the drinks weren’t strong enough for the price .. tasted like all juice !
Coreane Mangione
I loved this place so much! Service was so nice and has a flag system for when you want to order food, drinks, or need help with a game. The food and drinks were the best we had in St Louis. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! Our kids loved it and enjoyed their food and they are PICKY. The "tipsy protagonist" drink is divine 🥰
robert mangione
Last minute dinner decision ended up being one of the best meals and the most fun I've had in a long time. Both my kids loved it and my wife and I had a great time. Staff was good. Food was good. Lots of games to choose from. If you're going through town add this to the travel itinerary.
GB Thomas
Went for the first time last night for date night and it was amazing! Very chill vibe the food and drinks were great. So many games to play. Covid precautions?100%! hand sanitizer, masks, game sanitizing station and distance…would highly recommend definitely going back!
Grayson Saint
If you haven't ever been here... GO!!!
This place is amazing, absolutely one of a kind. Had a great anniversary with the wife, spent hours eating, drinking, and learning all sorts of board games. The staff are crazy nice, and the food and drinks are very reasonably priced.
Miriam Hannibal
I LOVED my experience at Pieces!! I am recommending this location for Any and Every group function! FANTASTIC Service! Delicious Drinks!!! Very Yummy Food! We just left and I HAD to leave this comment as soon as I got into the car!
Rayne Storm
Relaxing spot to hang out and play some of the many, many games available. The food is quite good and there is even a full bar menu!
Jacob Carson
Pieces is great. The food is genuinely good here, like I would come just for the food (we have before). The $5 fee to play a game per person is fair, but it would be nice if they didnt have the fee for simple games like uno, jenga, and those sort. Either way we’ll be back again and again
Jacob Mounts
Really enjoy coming here. They have lots of games as well as some food and drinks. If you're looking for a place to have some fun and hang out for a while I definitely recommend checking it out!
Ellie Sullivan
This place was so much fun, so many games and the drinks were really good with so many alcoholic and non alcoholic options. The food was alright although the sandwich did fall to pieces due to being so soggy but that was literally the only complaint I will still return just order something different next time :)
Tim McHugh
What a great place with an extremely friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The owners even stopped by my table to play a game of Oh My Gourd! with my 4 year old who was quite antsy at the time. While they make delicious food and offer a great beer selection, growing gourds seems to be their only weakness as my 4 year old was able to win. They were gracious in defeat.
Rick Deering
Love places like this! Have a wonderful selection of board games - most of the popular favorites... sometimes multiples. Fairly good organization of games. Staff is very helpful and more than willing to help explain games to new players. Their tap list is pretty good (half a dozen craft options). Food is average, but it nice to offer. Must go for any board game enthusiast - be prepared to spend hours here!
raymond evans
Board games upon board games can be found here. If you are ever board and need something to do you can always find entertainment here. It's a great place to hang out with your friends or kids.
Christian Fierro
The best atmosphere in the city to find games and food. Happy hour selections are great and plenty of events found here
Cindy La
Food is overpriced but there's a huge selection of board games, and everyone there is nice. They do charge tax on the library fee so bring your coin purse.
Edit: The menu is much bigger, including the drink selection! The private room is free to reserve and has a large game table with drink holders and comfortable seating. We had a great time!
Anne Gonzalez
Great game library and prompt service. The game library fee ($5) is per person, though, so it gets expensive fast.
Beka Kin
Wow!! Just wow! So this place is so cool!! They have tons of board games, friendly staff, and creative drinks. They even have a cocktail that has a whole rocket pop in it! Their food has gotten a lot better since I first came here in like may. The Boba Feta and Poke Bowl are two of my favorites.
Stephanie Bondhus
Love it here! so many games, amazing food, and the mixed drinks are so fancy and delicious
L Ryuzaki
First time here with friends and 100% recommend for geeks and nerds who love fun board games. They have an AMAZING selection of games that will take you back to your childhood. Drinks and food are absolutely PHENOMENAL. Staff are friendly and fun to talk to. The incorporation of a bar with board games is such a genius idea. Will definitely come back again. Thanks for the amazing time. Everyone in the party had a blast especially the birthday girl.
Logan Draga
Always a great place. Whether taking children of a responsible and respectful age, or getting friends together for a nite out. You can sit back play some board games, eat, and drink to your hearts content.
Food is great, accommodating to all dietary requirements, and priced well. Staff are very helpful and always prompt.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
Jared W. (Sonofjupiter)
Excellent food (with good Vegetarian/Vegan/Allergy options), excellent atmosphere, tons of games!
The staff was super friendly, giving us both game and food recommendations. If you're in St. Louis and want a relaxing evening of food, drinks, and almost any board game you can think of, this is the place!
Jonathan Frost
Great place! Ton of games. We chose a game that none of the workers played before but they still helped us walk through it. I came for my birthday and we loved the food and environment. Definitely worth going again.
Kristie L. DeBrun
Fun place. Friendly staff. Keep in mind you'll pay$10 to play games.
Ryan Freeland
This is a really fun experience they have just about every game you could possibly want to play. The drinks are fantastic and I really enjoyed the spin dip!
Jami Schroeder
Plenty of games to choose from in their library. There is also an extensive food/ drink menu. Ordering off the menu gets you a discount on the fee for accessing the game library.
Next time I will order and finish my food first before pulling out a game. The tables just aren't big enough for both.
Adam Voyles
A great experience and very warm staff. The food and drink menu was small but the prices weren't bad. I'll definitely be back!
Yemaya Miller
Edit: Upon waking up and checking my funds I noticed that my server shorted me about 20 bucks last night when returning my change. We left immediately after paying otherwise I would have noticed then. I hope it was a mistake. My server was Matthew. Came out with my friends to celebrate my birthday and had a blast. I'll definitely be back! I LOVE the fact that the boardgames force you to put down your phone and just have a good time. Also loving the menu with many vegetarian options available.
Jason Newcomb
This place was great. If you're looking for good food and a fun atmosphere, this is it. They have a multitude of boardgames. On top of the selection, the staff is knowledgeable. They will recommend games for you and they are spot on with recommendations.
Sponge Connor Squarepants
I've never had a better pork taco in my entire life. On top of that, the library of tabletop games is astounding. The staff are eager to help explain any of the games and it is impossible to have a bad time there. The massive game selection coupled with the food and drinks all add up to a great way to hang out with friends or even find a pick-up game strangers.
The idea of this place is so creative and innovative and this is greatly reflected in the decor and seating arrangements. Art from local artists hangs on the walls. Patrons are allowed to sit in all the re-inforced window sills as seats. The bar has a great variety of rubick's puzzles right there to solve while you drink.
I don't want to gush over this place for the entire review so I will leave it at this. Go there, you're gonna have fun, eat good food, and drink good drinks. It is a five-star experience through-and-through.
The most important thing I can do is give out tips to the novice or uninitiated. Parking is right across from the building if you don't mind shelling out $9. Get there early because it fills up fast and will stay crowded for a while. Sitting in the windowsills is the best unless it is super cold outside. There is a handy key to the waitstaff-notification system inside of the menu. And finally, play Sentinels of the Multiverse, it is a great game made locally!
Jay Thomas
I had a great time! Top notch customer service, games, food and drink. This place is a must visit. The staff recommended and helped teach us a couple games quickly. I will return!
Brien Bednara
Pieces is a great alternative to the club's or a sporting event. They have all sorts of games and helpful staff to help you get started. Drinks and food are a little spendy but not crazy. The gluten free donuts were yummy. But the star is the games, so many games.
Eric Wenzara
Finally got to go here with some friends. We had a blast. Beware, time flies when your here. We spent more then 4 hrs here n could've stayed longer.
chelsea kiser
Very organized, fast service, love the way you just put your flag up to let them know what you want. Nice drink selection and so many games, food was good, huge portions. Can’t say enough good things and sanitation procedures with cleaning every game also.
Daniel Seda
I go there pretty regularly and always have a good time. The staff is really friendly. The drinks always have playful themes and are good and have a seasonal rotation. The food always hits the spot and works well with the theme. Definitely recommend trivia on Wednesday nights too!
Jessica Banner
We just had a bachelorette party there and the place was terrific! Great games, creative drinks, and delicious food.
Patrick Freeman
This wasn't a bad place. Great idea feels kinda cramped at the tables tho not alot of room over all. They're handicap accessible but just barly. The food selection wasn't bad. Menu is more heavily focus on the drinks which is kinda to be excepted. I really enjoyed the quesadilla.
Mike Brockmeier
This place is amazing! Great food and a HUGE library of board games...what a great idea!
We stayed for a while and played several games. So many to choose from! And the staff was amazing...helping us understand rules, game play, and strategy for the ones we needed help with.
And on top of that, the food was really good! We tried the giant pretzel (and yes, it's giant!), nachos, BBQ sliders, and the pizzadilla (yep, a pizza quesadilla). Everything was good. The pretzel was INCREDIBLE.
We had an unbelievable time and will definitely be back.
Sharees Brooks
I visited Sunday and ordered the bottomless mimosa (only $15) and the ultimate burrito with beyond beef. The food and mimosa were so good, and they have an amazing game selection. I cannot wait to visit again next time I am in town!
Will McConnell
Really neat place, a ton of games of every type! Kitchen doesn't open until 3pm when I went on Sunday, but the food was very good! Veggie and vegan options available. Good tasting specialty drinks (alcoholic and non!). Great social place a for a few hours of fun!
Rebecca Kleinert
I’ve been here several times for dinner, trivia nights, and game nights. The staff is always so friendly, the environment is so safe and welcoming to EVERYONE, and it’s so much fun! Awesome vegan fare, and all the food/drinks are delicious!
Lauren Smith
Great food. Fun tasty drinks. Large selection of board games.
Stephanie Bova
Always a fantastic time! Drinks, cookies and freaking boardgames. The staff is super friendly and helpful and always takes the time to answer any question you may have. The only recommendation I have would be to check in online ahead of time. If you walk in on a weekend, you're going to be waiting a very long time and it can get very crowded. It is definitely worth the wait though!
Daniel “Bready” Williams
So much fun! Wait staff was incredible. This place is good for adults and kids alike. So many games! Did was good too, highly recommended!
Sarah Hernandez
This was sooo fun! Can't believe it took us so long to finally visit. The selection is incredible and servers are top notch friendly and helpful. I believe it was Lee who helped us with some recommendations and we loved the one we ended up playing. Definitely plan to come back and maybe even have my next birthday there.
Chris Brandt
One of if not the greatest restaurant experiences of my life.Theresa and Henry were fantastic and extremely helpful and chill. We entered pieces tame and came out changed men. We definitely did not F*ck ourselves with this one. Absolutely cannot recommend it enough. Best food, best drinks, best vibes, best games, Best places.
Much love from the loud Missouri and California boys. <3
Alyssa Osani
Super fun. I love board games and food. They even has awesome tabs to put up depending on your request. That way they don't accidentally interupt an important part of your game.
Nick Hudgins
What a cool place and idea! 1000 games to play and great food and cookies! Sit and play and or eat for hours!
Izzy Litwack
So much fun! We love coming here for trivia on Wednesdays and when it’s warm outside it’s a great little patio. Awesome desserts and drinks.
Also. Shoutout to the entire wait staff here. They are the kindest and most responsive staff in all of STL.
Don Parker
Super fun! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great time.
Steve Shannon
I love the board games they have available. The food is great and they have a lot of drink variety, too. It's one of my favorite places to take nerdy friends for a relaxing evening. Prices are a little higher than I'm used to but I feel like they were reasonable.
John Kauffman
Such a cute place with outstanding food and drinks! We had a blast!
Will Lickem
1st timer! Kool place, hundreds of GAMES! My only gripe would be that they didn't have french fries, lol.
Cody Null
Amazing place! Food is awesome, they have a huge amount and variety of games, and are super helpful if you have questions. They sanitize games after you play them. Great place to meet friends and have fun for a few hours.
Cissy71
What a fun place. Good food, good service. Such a fun place to go for brunch with a table full of friends.
Andrew Tveitnes
THIS IS MY HAPPY PLACE. The staff is the best in the city. They have $18,000 in board games, fun drinks, and great food. The names they have for the plates and signature drinks are excellent. They charge a $5 library fee and reduce it every time you buy a food or drink item. You can check in ahead of time to avoid the crazy wait times on Friday and Saturday nights. They also have fun brunches.
Henry Behlmann
Because of this place, my craving for card games has gone through the roof! I played a trivia game and a job card game with a group of friends and had a blast. Would have never played either if I hadn't come. The staff were super nice and gave great recommendations. I really liked one guy's trivia recommendation because I won! And to top it off, the food was top tier. I also really like the whole food, drink, question thing yall have going on, makes life so much easier. Have already recommended this place to multiple friends. Five stars that are well deserved!
Danielle Marie
I've been here twice now and love it. They have so many games to choose from that are organized really well. The food is great and service is friendly.
But really overall a great experience and we'll definitely be back. Their brunch menu did have a single lunch-type item, a turkey sandwich, so I got that and it was delicious. And my husband loved his biscuits and gravy.
Zach Brda
The service was great really fast and the staff was nice
Family friendly
Especially the staff Gabrielle and Riley did a great job.
Mike Yang
This place is amazing, they have 500 board games and the staff is super friendly and will even set up the games for you if they are familiar with it. Again, 448 kinds of board games, probably 500 including duplicates.
Charles Keller
I had a great experience here! The service was excellent, and there was a large selection of board games to choose from. I especially appreciated they broke the selection down by difficulty level. The omelette I had for brunch was tasty, and we weren't rushed by any means. We ended up staying for five hours! I really appreciated the food and how hard the staff worked to make sure my wife and I had everything we needed.
Jaclyn Goff
This place is AWESOME! I have been here many times, and I always have a blast! There are so many games to choose from. We have found old games that we have never heard of that were a lot of fun to play, as well as more modern games! We have even bought games online after playing them here. Along with the fun games, they have really good food and drinks! The staff are very friendly and helpful! Love this place so much! I definitely recommend it!
Rachel Sommer
I really enjoy this place. They have great games, drinks, and vegetarian snacks! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They are usually packed (because the concept is awesome and they execute it well) so I recommend going early. This is a great place to go with a group of friends or to take a special someone out for a fun date night. I could easily spend an entire day playing here with good company.
Christopher Byrd
Everything about our visit was great! The food was delicious, drinks were perfect, and the extensive library of games made for a fun evening. All of that pales in comparison to the employees, who were fantastic. They were friendly and helpful, and you can tell they really like where they work. I loved that they know the games and offer to help, which is great with games you've never played before. We will definitely be back!
Cuan Fix
An absolutely perfect experience. Hands down my favorite place I've ever dined. We were just a wild group of boys from Missouri and Califormia and had such a fantastic time. Could not recommend more. Vibes? Immaculate. Drinks? Perfect. Food? Spectacular.
Phylicia Shelby
Soooo many games! Really good service. Delicious mimosa's. They won't charge you the game fee if you end up not playing games, but honestly the food isn't worth coming without playing anything. They do have vegan and vegetarian options though.
Jessica Nicole
Really neat bar! They have over 800 board games to choose from that you can bring to your table and play while you eat. Some everyone knows, and some that I've never heard of. The drinks are a little pricey, but they are creative and delicious. They serve food until midnight (on Saturday at least!) and I enjoyed what I got. There are no shortage of vegan/vegetarian options, but for a couple bucks you can add the meat if you'd rather. We did have an extremely long wait time to get in, so I would HIGHLY suggest checking in on Yelp or calling ahead before you head out. Overall, we waited over an hour an a half just to get a table. That was without checking in, though! I thought it was worth the wait. My one and only complaint was the lack of space when looking for a game. You can't really just grab one off the shelf, but the space to look through them is so thin that every 5 seconds someone needs to get behind you.
Kristi Sharp
Most orginal, enjoyable experience in the area in my opinion. Great drinks, great food, great games and a friendly staff to help when needed.
Timothy Nummela
This place is such a unique experience. The best thing about Pieces is that every member of the staff is so fun and engaging. They love talking about the games and trying to tailor your experience, finding you just the right game for your group, or recommending their favorite. But they know exactly when to stop giving advice, peace out and let you play your game. Prices for food and drink are reasonable, and there's a good selection for this kind of bar. We usually just do drinks and apps, but we've enjoyed the food as well. We love trying new games abs meeting new people!
Brian Parker
This place is great! Some old friends were passing through and this was the perfect place to meet. Very chill environment, not loud at all, HUNDREDS of board games and puzzles of ALL different kinds and difficulties to choose from. Lots of tables are there to sit at, too.
The menu was very nice. There was a very nice drink selection and the food menu had quite a lot of stuff on it. Staff was super friendly and the food came out pretty fast.
Melissa Borges
Good food, atmosphere, and fun times to be had!
This is a unique place where you can choose from a large selection of board games and play them on site with your friends in a friendly, chill environment.
They also have a full menu of food, drinks, snacks, and sweets available for order.
Their service style is very unique. They give you a device for you to signal when you need something or wish to be left alone, which is awesome since you can play uninterrupted or be catered to when you're hungry/thirsty.
Love this place!
Paul Bertram
I took my cat. Everything was wonderful I'll definitely come back.
Steve Cates
What a great hidden gym! Must go and experience it for yourself. HUGE selection of games! You could spend hours there.
Jenny “JMac” Sedberry
Love this cafe! A great variety of food and drinks, which have all been delicious. And the assortment of board games they have is astounding! I love coming to try out games I've never heard of as well as the old classics; ranges from Candyland to Pandemic and everything in between. Plus their notification system should be implemented everywhere, a simple colored flower tells the server if you want assistance for drinks, food, game help, or the check. Excited for my next visit
Walt Long
Lots and lots of games! All kinds of games!
Got the sausage biscuits and gravy was very delicious. Unique flag service to let the server know what you need.
Megan Hegger
I love this place! I have an equally great time whether I come with friends/co-workers for happy hour or whether I bring my husband and daughter to Friends & Family Day. The food and drinks are great, everyone on staff is incredbly friendly and kind, and the games are a blast - we really do put our phones down and focus on each other. I want to say a special *thank you* to the incredibly kind staff member who performed some Balloon Animal surgical magic for my daughter at Friends & Family day this weekend. It was so thoughtful of you to come up to our table and offer to help when she was upset. Our mended butterfly is doing great with the addition of a stylish purple wing :) Thank you so much, we always enjoy Friends & Family Day, and I recommend Pieces to basically every family I know!
David Hong
Wow this is such a great place to visit. Come for Wednesday trivia. There are so many board games to play. You really forget just how fun board games are until you arrive. As you'd expect the food, service, and atmosphere are great. You can get some really nice rice and noodle bowls that you don't expect at bars.
Jason Moughton
Pieces is a fantastic restaurant/bar. The people are the friendliest people you will ever meet. The food is phenomenal. The game selection is vast. We just spent 6 hours there yesterday for my birthday party and we were never bored and the staff never got upset with us. If you like playing board games and enjoy good food, you should definitely check out Pieces. They treat you like family.
Kathryn Chapman
This place was chosen by a friend for a get together. There is a $2 cover charge that covers game play. We didn't play a game just met up and had food. Tables have a bucket with 3 plastic flower shapes in different colors when you want food drink or game help, you raise the appropriate color. Staff was very responsive and otherwise left the table alone which made for a pleasant evening. The food selections were a nice mix of options from healthy looking hummus and pitas to a more comfort food vibe in the cheesy bread with marinara sauce. Drinks have game inspired names and the non-alcoholic options didn't disappoint. Hibiscus limeade was good. I'd go here again.
Jacob Smyth
Last night we rented out a private room for 10 people. We had an absolute BLAST! The staff were awesome and the room was great. On top of that it was VERY affordable. 11/10. We will be back, and I'd recommend this to place to anyone. Top notch service.
Camille S.
Very fun place to go with a group of friends to drink and play board games! Their drinks are all game themed (the Candy Land was terrific) and the food is great. All together it was on the expensive side with food and drinks, but the expansive board game selection (800+ games!!) and relaxed atmosphere will have me and my friends coming back very soon.
Chrissie Watkins
I got the fried rice bowl with chicken. Thought it was terrible. Comes with sweet and sour sauce and bbq sauce. Did not taste great, but the place itself was great. They've got 800 games labeled from easiest to hardest. You pay a library fee to play the games. Don't remember how much the library fee was. They also have a section dedicated to 2 person games. Plus they have game waiters that come around and help you play the games if you're not sure! It's a really cool place, and great for a first date! (Unless you're with a sore loser.)
Breckin Ridings
What a fun time! We went for brunch and got the unlimited mimosas. So good! The bacon was the best bacon I have ever had. Thick and melted in your mouth. Food was delicious, service was friendly, and atmosphere was one of a kind. Will definitely be back!
Brielle Bright
The food is almost as amazing as the helpful and engaged staff! Any questions you may have about the bar, menu, or games are answered quickly and everyone is extremely kind. The private room is easy and fun to reserve for bigger parties, too!
A little bit of a personal story: My friends and I have been going to Pieces for a long time, since a few months after it opened. Since that time, there have been a few menu changes (some of them heartbreaking!!!). Last time I was there, I mentioned to our server that we really missed a specific thing on the menu and he brought out the owner who taught us how to make it at home!!! Laura, I know you read these reviews so I just want to say personally how wonderful and kind you always are. Like I said, we’re in often and the smile on your face always contributes to the happy and relaxed atmosphere at Pieces. Thank you for everything you do! You AND your staff always know what game to recommend, the menu inside and out, and it keeps us coming back for more. We bring our friends from out of town, who rave about it for weeks and always ask to come back next time they’re in town. We’ve brought our parents and young family members, who love the selections of kids games! I could rave on forever, so I’ll stop, but Pieces is hands down my favorite spot in STL for drinks and causal hanging with friends.
Jack Hinton
Pretty good happy hour, but the real draw is the board games. Trying out new games without having to purchase them yourself is great. The staff is there if you have any questions about rules. The food was pretty good. The cookies and donuts were awesome and turned out to be vegan. Trivia nights are also fun but they are pretty intense.
Nicole Markiewicz
The staff was so friendly and helpful. My husband and I had their coffee and some pastries and they were so delicious and great quality. Our friends had drinks form the bar where they had a great selection of beers as well as cocktails. I was impressed. And of course, the game selection was unreal! Over 700 games to choose from! We went on a Saturday night at 10pm and it was packed and we still found the games we wanted to play. We live almost 40 minutes away but we will make the drive back for sure!
Christina
Such a cool place! We had a private room for a party and the staff was SO wonderful, the drinks were fun and prompt and the food was delicious. Their game selection was so impressive. Would recommend to anyone, especially for a private party, and will be back!
Jason Tiearney
Fantastic place to hang out, play games and enjoy some food and drink. They have a very impressive collection of games and the employees are very knowledgeable in the rules of all the games. A great drink menu has some fabulously nerdy cocktails. As a heads up, there is a $5 cover for use of the game library, but it is reduced as you order more menu items. Great place!
Nick Hartwell
Had a lot of fun here! Food was light and fantastic. Don't go on trivia night though if you aren't playing trivia. The game plays over the loudspeaker and it's difficult to get anything else done with how loud it gets. They do have private booths however if you wish to get away from the main cafe.
Manuel Brockman
Really like this place. It's a unique concept and atmosphere. The staff are great. The pricing scheme is reasonable for the games they have. And you can stay however long you like. The drinks are very creative and great. The food is good too. Could get the blt again. Highly recommend a visit if you like board games or trivia
Tay Perry
Amazing!! The food is delicious, the service is incredible, and the drinks are fun. The prices are on point! In other reviews, some people complain about the library fee, but I've been to several board game bars that have a flat $6 or $7 fee. Here, it starts at $5 per person to play all the games you want and it reduces by $1 for every food or drink item you purchase. I spent 4 hours here and only had a $2 library fee because I drank 2 beers and had a meal. I think that is more than reasonable considering how much you would pay for four hours of entertainment at a movie theatre, bowling alley, City Museum, etc. I had a great time, Pieces! I can't wait to come back!!
Kristie Bennett
Cool little place! Very extensive game library and good food selection. Staff are great and super helpful. It's $5/person to help with the game library, but it's $1 off per item you order. Overall a great experience! Try this out, you won't regret it.
Shizumi Kurohane
Absolutely a blast! Food is surprisingly delicious and came fast. Crazy awesome selection of board games. Great tea here too!
Alec G
We were very grateful to have come across this very special space while visiting St. Louis. What started as a stop for coffee ended up being our destination for the evening. The staff was very inviting, knowledgeable of the games and excellent host/instructors. The vegan options were better than the exclusively vegan joint we visited yesterday. All around great. Wish we had something like this back home.
Katie Gibbs
This place rules! Fantastic people working there and great board game selection. Tasty food. All around superb and sooooo fun! Love the table service system and the general vibe.
Stephanie
Very cool place. We had a group of 6 and everyone loved the food they ordered. Very friendly staff. Awesome place!! Will continue to visit.
Jill Hampton
What a cool idea! And well-executed. The premise is exactly as it sounds-- it's a bar with board games! For $5/person you get unlimited access to the "library" of board games, and for every item ordered (food/drinks),$1 is taken off the library fee. The selection of games is very wide, and are sorted by difficulty (green/yellow/red). Anything you can imagine, from card games to board games to kid-friendly ones. There is no time limit, so sit and play as long as you want. Cocktails were very reasonably priced, but not too strong. We ordered a "southwest bowl" and it was delicious! Parking was plentiful, with metered parking along the front and side of the building. Overall a really fun experience, we will definitely be returning in the future.
Emily Bruns
Such a fun time. Staff are super helpful and cool. They have a huge selection of board games. Food and drinks have always been super good. We had a birthday party here and rented out the party room, which was great
Alex Miller
Place is awesome. Great service, always helpful staff around, plenty of games. The themed adult drinks are fun. My only gripe is a wider selection of snacks. The food that we did end up getting was delicious. Definitely see myself visiting again soon!
Chris Hoffman
Very different type of bar / restaurant. Oddly enough they called themselves a cafe - this is definitely not a cafe. I went expecting a cafe and it was a restaurant. There are board games and card games you can rent for a $5 fee per person. [Edit] If you aren't interested in the games, let your server know. The menu looked great, and the food was fantastic. Bar staff was great, personable and friendly. Great bar selection as well. Craft beers on tap, decent whiskey selection. The atmosphere is great, and the look is top shelf. Seating staff was a little cold, they were busy and you could tell they had a very faked "pleasant" attitude. [Edit] i went on a holiday weekend where the wait for a table was longer than expected, unsure of the usual wait times. Clever table service - you raise little colored "flags" on a bucket. Very easy. Table staff highly attentive, our water was rarely empty. Prices a little on the higher side.
Shelley Gupta
Pieces is an amazing place to visit - it is locally owned and so much fun!
The Bar: there are a variety of mixed drinks for every palette, in addition to local craft beers on tap, a bottle list, and a wine list. The bar tenders are knowledgeable about the drinks and can help you make a decision if you're overwhelmed.
The food: Super vegan/vegetarian friendly, also gluten free friendly. It's so rare to find a menu that can cater to everyone, but this one definitely does. It's awesome. The food is all made to order and is incredibly delicious. I highly recommend the poke bowls.
The games: There is a $5 library game fee, but with every food item you order, it is reduced by $1. There are a variety of games for every gaming level and age. There are classic games like Candyland and The Game of Life, as well as more obscure games like Flapjacks and Sasquatches, and games for those dedicated to gaming, like Catan. There are also solo puzzle games one can play alone.
I cannot recommend Pieces enough and I can't wait to go back!
Samantha Fisher
Fun experience. Enjoy grabbing a drink and hanging out with friends playing games.
Jesse Humphrey
Very fun place, but also kind of chaotic. It's difficult to actually play a full game here. It seems that the games are missing pieces fairly often but they're good at finding solutions. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The drinks here are delicious. The reason i give 4 stars instead of 5 stars is price. You could get a group together and buy a couple board games and alcohol for the night, actually play full games, and still spend less than if you came here and used their "free games".
Spencer Corning
We brought a birthday party here somewhat last minute when our original plans fell through. We had a large group and their private rooms were already booked, but luckily they were able to accommodate us with no wait. (Note- book a couple weeks ahead of time to be sure they can get you in if you have a large party. We were very fortunate.) The staff were wonderful and very helpful, and worked hard to get our table set up right away. Food and drinks were great, and the game selection had everything you could want. Would definitely recommend, and we plan on returning.
MADISON ANCEL
Great drinks, home of my favorite cocktail, and pretty good food. The staff is probably the most friendly and helpful staff I've ever come across. You can tell everyone wants to be there. Of course the games are the best part. If you dont like what you're playing I guarantee the staff will find you a game that you love.
Lauren Carpenter
Wow! What a great place! We came on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated right away. The owner helped us when we walked in. Explained the entire process perfectly. All the servers were nice and not overbearing. You don't have just one server, they all help out which is such a great concept. Really this place is top notch. The games selection is never ending. Drinks are delicious and inventive. Food was epic! Candied bacon - end of story! Go by yourself, take a friend, go with a big group of friends....just go!
Tim Lathum
This place is awesome. The staff is so good at suggesting games based on your party size and skill level. Then, they set the board up for you and explain the rules! So much better than reading them! The food and beer were good too! This place is a rarity, go check it out.
Brad Myst
The food was alright but the real reason to come was for the games. It’s such a fun concept! I first met my wife here so I may be bias in my love for this a place. Their selection of games is great. We found this classic 1977 Star Wars game on that date and had a blast so much we found a copy on eBay and ordered one. This place is the best!
Ashley Whitehall
If you enjoy games and great food this is the place for you. You can always get great drinks as well. Love coming for brunch, really enjoy the fried rice. Always find new favorite games here, the employees are great and I've never had a bad time.
Herb Hagely
This place has a great environment. The staff is very friendly and really helpful for game questions you have. The food is amazing and I haven't had anything off the menu that wasn't absolutely delicious. They also have a huge selection of games to choose from!
Kaila
As soon as I walked into this place, I immediately thought "Hipster Haven." They have this really cool system of small plastic "flags" that you stand up when you want something (food, drinks, or games) and a server comes almost right away to help you. You of course are able to freely peruse the shelves and shelves of games at your leisure as well. We had 9 people at our table and the consensus all around was that the food was good. The only downside is that it gets crazy loud, so make sure everyone bring their outside voices when you're playing the games.
Teresa Willis
Best game place ever- so many games, excellent service, yummy food!
Tiare Cassidy
Made a reservation here for my friend, her 6 bridesmaids, and some family members for her bachelorette party. Me and the other bridesmaids split the bride's drink bill and other things. The waitress was extremely patient with our billing situation and even gave great game suggestions for our party. All-in-all, I had a great experience with them and would definitely consider going back for another large party!
Haley Pruett
Awesome experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There are so many games to choose from and they are very knowledgeable on what game is good for you. Dave was extremely helpful and seemed very passionate about the games. Highly recommend!
Jessie T
Went to Pieces with a meetup group and it was so fun! I love all the different selections of games and board games. The food was reasonably priced and delicious! I wish they had more board games I recognize, but this place really encourages you to get out of the normal and play something different. Love this place!
Rachel Stevenson
Just had a very enjoyable evening out with friends at this new board game cafe.
This brand new game cafe has over 500 board games to choose from and even has a section for games developed right here in St. Louis. Friendly "Game Navigators" at the cafe can help you select and set up a game, if you have trouble choosing one. Their game library was grouped into 3 categories: easy, medium and difficult, which was helpful.
The menu is not large but there are several really good options for dinner, for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Everything we had was absolutely delicious, from hearty chili and nachos and bowl options with fresh, flavorful ingredients. I was really impressed by the food. There were also many drink options: tea, hot chocolate, Excel sodas, wine, cocktails, and Urban Chestnut beer on tap.
Every table there was full of groups of people playing games. Families of all ages and groups of friends playing, laughing and connecting with each other. I saw not one person looking at a smartphone the entire evening.
If you're looking for a fun evening out of the house, doing something new (or old school) with friends or family, check this lovely place out!
Jake Franck
SO FUN. Come for the great selection of board games and beer. Stay for the excellent staff and general vibe. Our server Joel did a great job making us feel welcome, helped us find a great game, and shared some laughs with us. Really the whole staff was awesome and definitely knew their stuff when it came to board games. You can tell a lot of care has been put into making Pieces a blast to spend an evening. We will be back!
Sean Jordan
Pieces is a fun board gaming cafe with a nice menu (vegetarian friendly!) and a library of 850 board games. The desserts are great and the atmosphere is nice. Just get there early, as tables fill up and people tend to stay and game for long stretches!
Tom Valli
Really fun place. Went here for a work party and the food was great, staff was great and the games were really fun. Good beer selection. Not a cheap place to go but still very reasonably priced. This would be a great place for a date, family night, or a good group hang with friends. Definitely plan on coming here again.
Annabelle Cushman
Went there for my friend's bachelorette party, the staff was friendly and helpful, they have pretty much every board game you could imagine, the drinks are a bit pricy but good and it was a really neat environment
Cole Brumley
The game selection, drinks, and food were awesome! The menu is small and not particularly cheap, but that's more than made up for by the excellent staff and game selection. The food focuses on bowls and snacks, which in hindsight are the perfect thing to eat while gaming (so you're not dripping on the pieces). I live kinda far away, but will be back as soon as possible!
Renee Warnock
Such a super cool spot! Was excited to check this place out after reading their website and Facebook reviews. We came for brunch and they had plenty of vegan options and even yummy pastries to choose from. Was disappointed to not know of the $5 game library fee per person playing a game. (This does decrease upon the amount of items you purchase, so buy 5 items off the menu and you will not have a game fee) but I don't recall seeing this on their website. Hopefully will give someone else a heads up. I love the idea of the place!

My friends and I love this place. Drinks are awesome the after school snack is my fave. Food options are great. I only wish they would bring back the meatballs they were sooooo good. PLEASE BRING BACK THE MEATBALLS!! This place is awesome definitely a must try. Oh and the spinach and artichoke dip is so fresh and delicious.
Stephanie Mueller
Pieces was SO fun and such a great concept/idea for a bar! They have an incredible selection of drinks, delicious food and over 800 games to choose from while you are there. You can go online and request a private room for an event as well, which is what we did and had a BLAST! it's a fun way to play board games (from Uno to Cards Against Humanity... they have them all!), including ones you've never tried. The "game concierge" can help you pick a game and will make sure you understand how to play before you begin. We will definitely be back!

I was initially (last night) going to write a very bad review. It was my birthday and the one and only place that came to my mind to celebrate was Pieces. We’ve been there before and I loved it! We were a 12 person group and my husband called the day before to make sure we reserve a table, and we were instructed to use Yelp which we did to get us on the waiting list. When we showed up with the birthday cake in our hands, we faced a harsh behavior from a staff (Dylon) that no outside food is allowed. I understand that rules are rules, but there is no need to be rude about it! However the owner came out, a very super nice lady (I think her name is Laura), offered us several amicable options for what we can do with the cake. She let us know that they really valued our patronage and went above and beyond to make amends for the rude behavior we had to deal with earlier and gave us their best staff (wish I could remember his name) and we all had a fantastic night! Would definitely go back with friends!
Warren Popp
Amazing that their staff can have so much board game knowledge! Great service and some tasty food... Really enjoyed the veggie sloppy joes. Solid drink selection.
Jake Kremer
Probably my favorite spot in STL. Bright and fun, good drinks, and the most incredible game collection. Had an awesome time.
Aidan King
Great food, fun, casual atmosphere, a little pricey but worth every bit. Flag system assures you're only bothered by the wonderful staff when you need something. A small library fee to keep the games up to date, but worth every bit.
Briana Seegers
This place is incredibly inviting. The atmosphere is ideal, no loud music, so you can hear each other talk and hear yourself think. The games selection is out of this world. The food is minimal in choices but delicious. I definitely want to become a regular at this place!
K Vidavitchy
Fun games, good drinks
Audrey Abel
Great food, chill atmosphere, large selection of games. Will be returning soon!
Joshua Williams
This place is all about fun. Food and drinks were good, but we spent hours there palying so many weird games. I'm only sad that we never got to play the game with the phone I remember commercials of from when I was a kid. Vegetarian-friendliness: brunch food is veggie friendly, and they had some tasty meat replacements.
Andrew Barnes
I could tell early on in my first visit that Pieces is a special place. From the moment I walked in, people were happily enjoying a trivia contest. I ordered a giant quesadilla that was both delicious and a great value. All of the games we brought to our table were fully stocked and often had their cards lovingly encased in protective plastic. The selection of games was clearly curated by people who love games, encompassing a variety of genres and intensity levels, and any area of fandom and any heralded game that I could think of was there. Pieces is a gem.
Rachel Freeman
Great idea, but $5 per person to play games is a bit high. I could see $10 a table maybe. We had 4 people, we could have just bought a game practically for $20. Also this place is super packed, we were on the waitlist for 2 hours. I can't comment on the food since we only had drinks, but the drinks were good and there's a great selection of games here. FYI - each food or drink you purchase lowers your game cost by $1. Also they have a private room you can reserve for free, I will totally be doing that next time!
Joshua D
Pieces is a ton of fun! There are so many games to choose from to play and an expert game person to teach you how to play new games and recommend something new based on games you already love.
The food and drinks are also a lot of fun. They have added fun twists on both their food and drinks which wrap up the entire experience. Think about calling ahead to check the wait because they can get really busy on the weekends with dozens of people ahead and the wait over an hour.
Nathan Wallace
Very good idea to bring the fun of your living room to a restaurant. We had a blast. Large selection of board games. And the food was delicious. I personally recommend the meatball melt and wonton chips. My reason for not giving 5 stars was because initially it was a little unorganized as far as getting our seat.
Jennifer Paul
Pieces was such a delightful stop during my trip to St Louis! I'm visiting friends from out of town and I wish I had something like this at home! It was so much fun to all get together and play board games in a social setting like that! They have so many games and the servers know know so much about all of them! They even recommended a new game to us based on what we like to play. The food was so good and the drinks are so cool! I had a drink that had one of those rocket popsicles as a garnish! I wish I could spend my time here every weekend! There's usually a wait depending on when you get there on the weekend, but it's well worth it for the atmosphere, food and drink selection, game options, and amazing service!
Sammy Jacobs
Amazing food and specialty drinks! I had the most fun here hanging out with friends. Our server was awesome and taught us how to play all of the games.
Valerie Vasquez
The food was delicious. I ordered a poke bowl. We didn't play any of their games.
Shauna Sweeney
Overall, we had a great time! We went for brunch with a group for a friend's birthday and had a wonderful time playing some really fun games that we had never played before. I do have to agree with those that have voiced concern over the price though. We didn't even mind the game fee and see the value in having funds available to keep the games complete with all their pieces but to spend $12 on a simple/average sized omelet that did not even come with a side dish was disappointing. We would have at least preferred more variety for the price. We are definitely looking forward to going back but will probably eat before we go.
Daniel Volle
I just went here for the first time with a few of my friends and loved it. They have plenty of games to choose from (there is a fee depending on how much food/drink you order) and the food was great. They have some vegan options and all the pastries are vegan! I had the vegan grilled cheese and a Nuka Cola (a boozy version fit for the Fallout universe!). Unfortunately the hot chocolate is Swiss Miss (confirmed by the wait staff). I will be returning soon!
Chris G
Fun place with over 700 board games. Cocktails are good but pretty weak. Beers are pricey. Food is just ok. The cookies are amazing though. Service is also excellent. The place has potential. I'd say it's 3 and a half stars.
elesia lang
This place is every gamers dream come true. Absolutely in love with it. The only issue is the drinks are ridiculously expensive (but so are all drinks in Saint Louis) The food was good, the staff was so nice and helpful with explaining the games. Cannot wait to go back.
Bojan Nedic
Really great place to hang out. I personally love going here for the trivia and playing some board games before it. The cocktails are really good and pretty unique. The food is good, but nothing that will knock your socks off.
Hannah Ingram
Great concept, awesome experience!
My husband and I had a delightful afternoon (which turned into evening) at Pieces. We wanted to go out, but didn't have anywhere we needed to be. Bar scene isn't our thing. Pieces was a wonderful find.
Staff were incredibly helpful and attentive, aided by a table-top "call for help" system that lets you stay focused on your game. Nice selection of games, marked by difficulty, spanning a huge range of categories and ages. Food was good, albeit slightly overpriced, but we were happy to pay; this place needs to stay in business!
Strongly recommend Pieces for anyone looking for a fun way to spend time with people in StL.
Tristan Dauer
The food, games, and atmosphere were fantastic. It was also great to see that the staff sanitizes games before they go back on the shelf. I’ll definitely be back.
Satya N
The ambience is amazing! So much energy. They have a great selection of games and everyone is really great - they help you figure out the rules of a new game if you're interested in trying something new. The food is really good. It's a great place to spend a few hours with friends!
Michael Jones
Absolutely phenomenal!! Well worth the drive from out of town. The staff are amazing and very patient. Place is very clean. And the food is amazing!!. My friend ordered a BLT that I could hear crunch from across the table. Will be back again!
Megan Wilcox
Swung by while travelling as I love board game bars from my hometown. Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff, paired with a super wide selection of games. Games were very well categorized and helped you cut down time trying to find out what to pick. Ordered some chicken soft tacos to split with a friend, and a cookie! Overall great time while in St. Louis. The Kickstarter wall was really neat to see physical representation of backers.
Nice place to still grab a bite but kill some time and have some fun too!
Ashwin Chakraborty
From California, this was the best restaurant/bar I have ever been too. Some of the best drinks and food I've ever had. The service was amazing, all my love to Henry and Theresa! I HAD SO MUCH FUN!!!
Miranda Oehler
Great concept, AMAZING execution. I can't think of a single change I'd make to the experience. Even the food was surprisingly fantastic (and I'm generally underwhelmed by restaurants). The staff was friendly and incredibly prompt, the bathrooms were clean, the drinks were yummy. All around a great experience I'd love to repeat!
Matt Coalson
A ton of board games and solid food options provide everything I would look for in a pub & play.
Emalee Bell
Amazing. Expensive, but the servings are massive and delicious. There is a fee to access their games, so if you don't want to play you don't have to. You have a MASSIVE library, I personally played their extensive Cards Against Humanity game. Would make a great first date place, or a great 500th date place.
Tyler Turk
My wife and I loved going to this place in the past. It's been a long time since my wife and I had our third kiddo and game night out is a little harder now.
The folks who work here are awesome and the game selection is great. I should've checked ahead of time, but the Geeks Who Drink trivia night was tonight which used a PA speaker for asking the questions. Our table was fairly close to the PA which was really loud and made table conversation very difficult for playing other games. Two of our group of four quickly felt fairly painful headaches from the volume, so we ended up deciding to leave.
On an unrelated note, this place used to have amazing mac and cheese dishes, but they are no longer on the menu. The food we got tonight was okay, but it seems to not be as great as it was a year ago when we were coming more frequently.
Jonathan Collum
I've been to a handful of similar places and this one wasn't bad. We did have the misfortune of picking to go on a Wednesday evening when they have trivia which ate up a lot of tables and left us at the bar for at least 30 minutes which is not very conducive to board gaming. They have a variety of games but nothing mind-blowing if you are a very serious gamer. They have a few games that I'd question being on the shelf like axis and allies which takes so long to setup and play you'd have to leave it out and come back the next day to play again. The staff was all very friendly and they will even make game suggestions or advise on rules as needed. They have a pretty solid collection of local craft beer in cans/bottles and on tap though 2 of the beers I wanted on tap were sold out and several cans were also sold out. They do mixed drinks on a limited basis with some fun themed stuff on special for star wars. It costs $5 to play with $1 off for each item you buy which is a solid deal. I'd definitely go back again if I'm in the area.
Marvella Ying
Talk about fun!!! I surprised my husband with this place and let's just say it was a hit. We also met a friend. (So just know most games are better with an even # of players. Lol)
Loved our seats as we were in a corner spot with window ledge seating on one side and 2 chairs on the other.
Friendly quick service from a dark haired gentleman with a beard. (I literally asked his name so I could mention him because he was great. Dang, I'm old)
Food and drinks were wayyyyy better than I expected. Artichoke dip was a win. Tacos were a win. And the spicy noodles I got were very tasty.
Family, group, or a date this is definitely a spot to visit.
Sandra Swoggs
What a fun place to hang out with friends and family! Great drinks & the Korean BBQ sliders were amazing! Everyone is so friendly & don't interrupt your games. I highly recommend this place, especially on Wednesday nights for trivia night!
David Aye (Oxyborb)
Let the employees suggest a game for your group to play. It's so much funner than picking one yourself! They do a great job explaining the rules. Some of the drinks are a bit small for the price (the caprisun one), but they are very tasty.
Dee Stratman
So many games to pick from. Some of our favorites and so many new ones for us to try. Service is always good, love the private rooms. Food is always good! We will be back.
Kurt Schwind
Came here for a Sunday brunch and some gaming. Endless mimosas in a pitcher for $15 as I recall. The game selection is solid and the staff were friendly and non-judgmental when it came to recommendations and game rule help. The food is better than it has a right to be. I had a chorizo breakfast bowl and it was solid. I stayed for so long I was there when the menu switched from brunch to lunch/dinner. At that point it was some 'small plate' fare which was quite good.
T Branson
I cannot thank the staff & owners @ Pieces enough! We hosted a social event there & had estimated for between 10-30 people to attend, but we ended up with over 53 people coming! Instead of freaking out or turning people away, Laura (1 of the co-owners) grabbed some patio tables & chairs & started reserving other tables for our group on the fly! I also got to chat with Ameet (another co-owner) whose dedication to his work & happiness in hosting us definitely shined! The food was Exceptional, the service was Outstanding (THANK YOU Mary & Joe/Joel!!!), & we Very Much look forward to returning in a few months! I can't recommend them enough!
Praveen Kumar
We reserved a table for 6 on New Years eve!!! Had a Blast!! So many board games u can pick from and the game navigators will help you with any questions you have. Food and Drinks were really good!! If you like Board games.... This is the place to be in St Louis!!!! The owners were very friendly!!
Jacob Hession-Kunz
This is a fantastic bar and place to go with friends, and has something for everyone. Their board game selection is a force to be reckoned with, and they have everything from intense several hour games, to many expansions of dominion, Catan, Ascension, and more popular games, hard to find games such as the original arkham horror, and even short popular card games, such as cards against humanity, or more mundane games like cribbage. The food selection is hilarious and delicious, sporting a variety drinks and food, with names referencing various games. They host a trivia night on Wednesdays at seven, run by geeks who drink, which is a casual and exciting affair, as well as various other events. A friendly environment, helpful staff and all the games in the world means this is a good location for everyone.
Ted Betzler
Nice place! Rented a room for a kids birthday party - great for anyone who loves board games!
Stephanie Duncan
This place was so much fun. Went here for a bachelorette party and had amazing food and played some fun games I haven’t had the chance to play.
Stephen Huber
Edited review because the manager reached out and addressed many of my issues:
Cool concept and a nice waitress.
1. There was an hour wait when we arrived. We waited patiently in our car parked right around the corner, waiting for our text that it was our turn. We arrived 4 minutes after we received the text (it said we had 5), but the host had already given away our table. Luckily the next table didn’t take too much longer. Apparantly their tech system was having delays that night.
2. There is a $5 PER PERSON fee to just sit down at the table. This is knocked down $1 for each item you order, but drinks are priced steep at $6-10 each. Paying $20 for a table of 4 just to be seated is very high. A $10 minimum spend per person would be much more reasonable. They say this fee goes towards upkeep of the games, but all the ones we played were not in great condition
3. For the $7-10 price on top of $5 fees, you would think cocktails would be mid or top shelf, not three olives.
For these reasons, Although I loved the concept, I could not give 5 stars. The manager did reach out to address some of these points, hence an edited review.
Jonathan Cowan
Amazing staff, cozy atmosphere, and some of the best food I've ever had. The game selection is incredible as well. Would absolutely recommend!
Eric Zumwalt
What a cool place! My wife and I took our 2 and 4 year olds and they had a blast. Hungry hungry hippos and giant Kerplunk plus good food and ice cream and a friendly staff did the trick for us.
I imagine the weekend is packed out, but Tuesday night wasn't bad at all. It was a little less than half capacity, meaning we had a great pick of tables and games (not that you will run out of choices).
Jennifer Andrews
This place is awesome! The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because their a/c is pretty much non existent in the main area. If you want to stay cool, better move your table to the hallway by the bathrooms. They have done everything they can to try to chill it down with fans and portable units, but they really need to invest in a new system once they are able. Go here! Families, old people, dates, whatever, it's really great! UPDATE: per the response from the owner below, I just happened to be there on a day the a/c was down in the main room. I give this place 5 stars! And thanks to the owner for the response!
Tom Hill
This is so much fun. Grab a drink and some food, pick a board game, sit and play, get help with rules, perfect afternoon. Depending on where you look, they have some 600 or 900 games. Lots of things I haven't played or even heard of. If you are into board games at all, this is well worth seeking out. I saw a family playing battleship, a table playing a really obscure card game, and even a table in the corner playing a couple of two player games I've played before. What a great date!
Jeri Dietz
It costs $5 per person to play a board game. Soft drinks are $3.50. Expensive and was disappointed as we were celebrating my sister's birthday. Was told we couldn't bring in a cake of our own but as we were leaving a group if people were bringing in cupcakes.
Maryssa
Usually at a place like this you would assume there would be some sort of trade off: either a huge selection of games with mediocre food or good food but only a few popular games. But Pieces has both! While there were a few games I was looking for and couldn't find, the game selection was still large enough that it was no problem finding a game that worked for us. I was blown away by how delicious the food and drinks were; in fact better than a good number of dedicated restaurants. Add in a staff that was astoudiastou friendly and knowledgeable, and Pieces now has to be my go to for hanging out with friends and to bring guests from out of town!
Lucy Peyton
The food was great, the staff was knowledgable of their game library and could make recommendations, and the drinks were certainly creative. The flag system was inventive too and allowed the servers not to be too invasive during the visit. I'm trying to look for more opportunities to go back.
Samy Mousa
Coming from board game bars I am hyper critical, so there are small things that drive me crazy that the average guest would never see, and pieces has done a great job hiding 90% of those small annoyances.
Menu puns are top notch
Food was amazing, I gave my leftovers to a coworker, he thought it was amazing.
Drinks were quality, I think they are a perfect fit for the demographic and appropriate pricing.
Staff, beginning to end perfect. Got a delightful schpiel at the door explaining everything, all of the questions I was going to ask were answered before I could.
Theresa (sp?) was handling several tickets while holding conversations or singing like it was a breeze, that's a professional.
All in all, great.
Brittany Betts
Really enjoyed the gluten free chocolate salted pecan donut. Amanda good look to you when you start your vegan bakery "Sift".
Jake Kline
We had an absolutely wonderful time! We never even made it to our table. We ended up sitting at the bar and making friends with Zack and Theresa all night. Great bartenders, fun people. All around wonderful experience. Thanks for everything, Zack!
Stevie Palacios
First time coming here and I had a super great time! The staff is all nice and knowledgeable about the menu and games. The food was excellent (we had rice bowls) and my boyfriend said the drinks were very good as well. I will definitely come back here every time I'm in St. Louis.
Theresa Kurtz
Get your friends or family together and get over to this place! Come hungry and thirsty and ready to be unable to decide which games to play first. The game choices range from the simplest games you know well to so many intriguing games you've never even heard of. Don't worry, their game navigators will show you how to play any game. The food is unique and delicious. They have amazing vegetarian dishes too. They use the NoWait app so you can easily get in line when they get busy. Why go to a boring bar, come here and laugh all night!
Robert Karleskint
Such a unique concept for a bar and such a great place to have a blast with a bunch of friends, or take a first date!
Hannah King
I absolutely adore this restaurant! I’d give 6 stars if I could. I food is amazing, the drinks are even better. The games and atmosphere make it my favorite place to take friends and family on a special occasion or just for a fun Saturday evening
Alexander Schmidt
Amazing food and a great place to take friends to play some lighter games. It's not the best place for heavier games with how loud it can be. They also have some amazing vegan options if you have a vegan in your group.
Ryan D
Amazing incredibly friendly staff we had a private room fpr my brothers birthday party and everything went great. I would recommend this to my freinds as a great bar with good food or a nice place for a fun party. The prices are a tad on the up scale for drinks specially the on tap beers but the very is right in line with most sit down resturants great atmosphere and good highway access. If your looking for a nice first date or a family get together id highly recomend them.
khuyen tran
Great hangout spot! Our party had the trio dips, assorted tacos, spicy noodle bowls and fried rice bowls. All were good. Pretty good beer selection on tap. Mixed drinks however were meh.
Theresa Pazanowski
This place is AMAZING! Super fun and unique, SUPER friendly, this place was a surprise find and we're so glad we went!
Eric
I don't like board games, but we had a really nice time and they had a huge selection of games. The place was quite busy, and trying to find a spot in the parking lot was a nightmare, but I believe that was just bad timing/luck on our part.
The food on the menu didn't really appeal to me, and they were converting from brunch to lunch at 2 pm. Which is weird. Nice drink selection, though.
Saketh Chemuru
We went there for brunch on a weekend and ended up staying for 5 hours playing board games. Perfect place to spend your weekend playing games with friends. And the food was good as well. The staff were friendly and helped us pick the games for us.
Michelle Bowen
As always, Pieces has amazing customer service! Their food is unique and reasonably priced for a boutique cafe. They have thousands of games and knowledgable staff. The atmosphere is perfect for family fun or a date night.
Corey Wise
I love Pieces. The game selection is INSANE and the wait staff knows how to play all of them. Super helpful. The food is fantastic, I usually get the tacos and they are always superb. They get VERY BUSY on weekends. Expect to wait a decent bit.
Elle Tasha Jones
Great place to play games and enjoy a nice cocktail and meal. It's a bit of a wait, but worth it. The bar tenders are great and so are the cookies. I would have never guessed that the cookies were vegan!!
Maddie Movesian
I head to Pieces nearly every other week with a group of friends for dinner, drinks, and games.
One of my absolute favorite places in STL to take visitors to have a fun tine out. The food is always very good (the brunch menu is especially delicious) and the happy hour deals are great.
If you want a chill night of good food, craft beer, and board games, Pieces is your place.
Chances J
Very fun, and chill spot to go. They have every board & card game I could ever imagine, and even loads I'd never even heard of. Its a great way to try out new games, to see if you'd like them enough to own them. Food was okay, not horrible, but not anything to write home about either. Drinks however, were super affordable and the shots you buy are huge for the price you pay for them. The service is excellent, and the place was clean and aesthetically pleasing. I got a "Birthday Shot" for my birthday and it was strong, but delicious. You have to pay for the parking, but ita only like $0.25 per 15 minutes. Ypu also have to pay a $5 fee to play the games, but if you plan to buy food and drinks, they deduct a dollar from that amount per item you purchase. Would 👍 attend again though.
Kirby Glover
Super great bar, good prices and fun times with the board games. Went here on a date and had a great time playing Guess Who, Uno, and War. Will for sure be coming back here to try the food
Eric Denson
Games, drinks, and food. Great for families or date night.
Kyle Phouangmalay
They have an enormous selection of games and they are taking active covid19 protocols. They are open as of now and are taking reservations. The staff is courteous and quick to help. The person handling reservations was helpful and quick to fix any issues I had when increasing my party size.
Alex Collins
There's a 5$ fee per person to access the games but for every item bought it's a $ off. Food is a little pricey but reasonable for the quality and the atmosphere is super fun!
Adelaide Hill
Super awesome atmosphere, staff was so nice, game selection was amazing we had a fun date night that lasted for hours!
Whitman Levy
This place rocks! Not only do they have awesome food and an incredible game selection. They also have one of the most pleasant and attentive teams around! Wonderful staff + great ambiance + killer drinks = awesome time!
Frances Rabb
ANY BOARDS R CARDS GAMES.. TONS OF OPTIONS R SEVERAL 2 PLAY YAYYYY. Luv it
Ashlie
We got there a bit before the rush and snagged a good table. The food was delicious and the drinks were even better. They have such a large selection of games. I can't wait to go back.

My wife and I went to Pieces for Valentine's day and had a great time.
What we loved:
-Selection of games
-Attentive "Game Navigators"
-Food is fresh so even plain 'ol nachos taste great
-Fun drink options . . .who knew Gin and Rootbeer would actually work together
-The owners are in house and friendly
-Location is perfect with lots of parking
We are both board gamers so we absolutely loved the selection of middle to difficult board games but also appreciated the amount of games for the casual gamer. They have anything from general party games to games that will take half a day to complete. We also saw a number of people playing the typical classic board games and shortly after finishing their game were very open to suggestions by the game navigator to try new and different games. It was exciting to see new people being opened up to the world of gaming!
Some have complained about prices and the game fee but after 6 premium drinks, sharable nachos, wonton chips and tip we spent less than $70. Not bad for spending 4.5 hours playing their games which on average cost 30-40 dollars a piece for them to buy. Also as a side note, they do not take cash. Genius idea but if you are a cash only person bring some plastic.
Mr. Bulldops (PrincessArtichoke)
Great place to game especially for a small group. Food is not bad either. The rice bowls are definitely the stand out. Make sure you go early, though. There is no maximum game time so wait times can often be erratic and unpredictable.
Cassy O’Daniel
Pieces is a blast! So much fun, great staff and yummy food! Pieces Board Game Bar is perfect for any occasion in my book! Hopefully they will bring the Mac-n-cheese back and I would love to see them expand in St Louis!
Danette Massie
This place is great! They were very helpful and accommodating me with my large party. The menu prices and drink prices are phenomenal! And the staff is super nice and super helpful! Great place to go on a first date a birthday outing or just hanging out with friends!
Ben Lake
This is one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" ideas. Who wouldn't want to play a board game over a meal?!? Excellent selection of games, curated by helpful and obsessively-knowledgeable staff/servers. Food was actually pretty good, too. This is a great idea for a friends' night out or even a first date. I really really want one of these in my home town! Franchise opportunity?
Brian Lowe
One of the best places in St. Louis! All the food, people, and drinks are fantastic, and there’s a countless number of board games. Also, their water is suspiciously good. Bring a group of about 5 optimally, but any number will do!
Ibanez 0154
Pieces should be called the complete puzzle because it out hits a home run in every category. The staff was beyond helpful and polite. The food was outstanding, above any expectations we had. The atmosphere is perfect for any age. We can not stress it enough how much we reccomend this place.
Beckettastic M (Becketttastic)
I was looking for a fun place to have my last hurrah in St. Louis and they delivered! I wish I would have gone there more and I plan to visit any time I return to St. Louis! I emailed my request for a side room a little later than what was asked, but they still had one open. The party was on a Wednesday night, so I think that helped. After exchanging emails with one of the owners I had my table booked and the party set. Even though we squeezed in more friends than I was expecting, our waiter-friends would help us find extra chairs. The staff seem expertly trained on how to quite a room, or sneak in for orders, without being rude or intrusive. We tried to police ourselves, but they did a great job of helping us (and it actually felt like friendly helping!) I'd give this place all the stars every time.
Jeff Finazzo
Has a great selection of games, food and beverages. There were lots of tables to spread your games out on or you can sit in the bar and play. The staff is very friendly, attentive and will help you with your game questions including recommending a good game.
Stephen
Over rated. The food was fine but costs more than it really should. The cold was interesting not quite Coke or Pepsi so that was cool. The games are all pretty standard if you game a lot either you or one of your friends will own most of their games
Rawss H.
Pieces is GREAT. This place far exceeded my expectations. Hundreds of games, great food, great drinks, and awesome staff! Whether you're into the nostalgia of revisiting board games of your childhood or are a seasoned BGG - you'll have a great time at Pieces. Not sure what game is for you? Speak with one of the super knowledgeable Game Navigators and they will help you find a game and teach you the rules!
The space is comfortable and relaxed with several gaming areas including a cozy private room. The owners (Jim, Laura, and Ameet) and the rest of the staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely care for their customers. On several occasions I have seen them go above and beyond for their patrons.
There is no other place like Pieces in St. Louis. I can't recommend it enough!
Jonathon Schuette
Very nice and clean; both, the games and tables. Service is very good and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Well organized games. Fair prices, and good food and drinks. Great for families and friends. Time flies when your at Pieces!

Great food, great atmosphere, and great games! The owners are super friendly, and they have knowledgeable staff on hand to help teach you games (they have over 500 board games!) that you don't know! Have had a great time every time I've gone.
Jennifer Franklin
As an avid gamer with a board and card game selection that fills walls, I had high expectations for Pieces. I went as part of a group of 6 for the second of their soft opening nights and was blown away. I highly recommend it!
More detail to follow for those interested . . .
Games Selection:
First off, their game selection is awesome and, according to the owner, ever-expanding based on requests. They have everything from Hungry, Hungry Hippos to Ogre (a dense strategy game). They also have a lot of complimentary games. Want to plan Cards Against Humanity but someone else is? Try Joking Hazard! I felt that there was enough selection and complimentary games to keep me happy. They also have a lot of quick play games, so it is easy to pick up something small while you are waiting for a friend to arrive or a game to return to the shelves.
Food and Drink:
The menu is exceptionally reasonably priced, in fact, I wonder if it can stay this cheap. We tried the poke bowl, the southwestern bowl, the chili, the pork lumpias, the wontons, and the hummus. All of the entrees were fantastic and my personal favorite were the pork lumpias. They have some clever mixed drinks, but the winner was the Tipsy Dungeonmaster - a bourbon and mead blend. Amazing! Solid wines by the glass and good beer.
Misc:
The management was great and very responsive. There were very few hiccups for a brand new restaurant and they were quickly resolved. They have a coat room that is coming soon and the menu should be expanding as well.
I would highly recommend coming to Pieces for a drink and a game. Go with your friends or grab a 'Looking for Group' marker and make new ones.
Specter
They have every game you can think of here. The atmosphere is fun. Lots of people having a good time. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. The food is good with quick service. Definate do again.
Ben Miller
What a fun place! They have awesome cocktails, a great beer selection and a multitude of fantastic board games. Recommend using their waitlist app for weekends due to long wait lines if walking in.
Klint Youngmeyer
This is a great place to spend an evening with friends. The food is great, the cocktails are clever, and the game selection is awesome. Be prepared to spend a lot of time here, and be warned, the wait for a table can sometimes be long and unpredictable.
Samuel
Great selection, helpful staff, can't wait to go back
Jeremy Snipes
Decent food! Good craft cocktails and beers. Tons of games. There is a table fee of $5 but it’s loads of fun and they take a $1 off for each item you buy.
Shannon Smith
Great Atmosphere! Friendly & knowledgeable staff! Good drinks & menu choices! SOOO many choices for games!
Jane Marie
Went for Wednesday night trivia- such a fun atmosphere! Great staff & the Thai chicken bowl was yummy. (Sit away from trivia speaker, they cranked the mic way too loud)
Sean Hall
More of a one-time experience. Everyone is charged a $5 "Library Fee" that you take a dollar off for every drink or food item you order. It was way too loud to learn a new, complicated game. Food and drink was pricier than it needed to be, but there's a fun variety. If you've got hours on end to learn a new game that you don't want to buy, knock yourself out. If you have that game already, stay home if you want to save money. If you're as practical and cheap as me, just think that you could buy a new game for what you'd spend on a night at Pieces. Lose the library fee...
Brittney Whitfield
The drinks are a little on the small side but they pack a punch. The food was all very delicious. They have an amazing system that allows them to be attentive to guests but also let's us chill. The game options were endless
Glenn Buford
I love coming here to play games with my friends. One of the members from my group decided to host a meetup and we had a great time. We will definitely be back.
Scott Bourn Jr
We go here every other week for the trivia and games. The staff is always friendly and helpful even when my group accidently spills beer on a game (sorry pieces staff). If you are looking for a night of fun go here. And deff check out the Pizzadilla.
Jesus Gonzalez
Wow! Amazing vegan food as well as a unique and fun atmosphere! Truly a special place to share an expirience with a date, friends or family!
Lewis Marty
Pieces routinely provides my friends and me with quality service and great food. I have countless tidbits that might demonstrate exactly how lovely the Pieces team is but I won't list them here. In general the staff do the little thoughtful and optional things that only perfect each visit we have there.
If you haven’t been to Pieces, go! If you have been, you already know what I’m talking about... I guess I'll see you there.
Christopher Badell
Unlike anything else in St. Louis. A great place to hang out and play games. No shortage of delicious food, fantastic drinks, great games, and the friendliest and most helpful staff you can imagine! I love Pieces.
Bradley Farley
Huge library of board games in every genre. Great menu of drinks. We went late, so didn't eat, but service was impeccable. Definitely will be returning
Abby reel
Wonderful! Im gluten free, emailed about food options to know if i should ahead of time. They responded so quickly I was able to eat nachos geat had nonr9m for gluten free donuts (will try next time!!!) Our party was big and unexpecantly grew alot bigger. Staff didnt even blink and eye and so great with us!
Games we played were a blast, I cant wait to go back!
Jim K
More board games than I've ever seen in one place. It might be best to have a game in mind before you get there or suffer option paralysis. Friendly and attentive wait staff. The food was pretty good and the drinks were quite refreshing
Sheila p (zombie)
Throw a Bachelorette party in the clubhouse. Reasonable prices, great food and drinks. The space was amazing along with the helpful staff who picked out some favs. Also had a gluten free cake made that tasted delicious. Will be going back
C low F
It was fun great and pleasant. Was expecting to order some chicken wings boned or not. Maybe add a little birthdate cupcake for the birthdate person since all patrons may not be age appropriate for the birthdate drink. The workers were very informative and accommodating. Havong my daughter's 20th 🎂 day there was awesome. UNO was their serious fun game.
Rowdy Wicket
Cool bar but some pretty brutal waits to get a table during busy periods. We were told at least an hour on Valentine's night by the host and went somewhere else. Had a great time here a few months ago though
Maybe offer reservations?
Stephen Pate
Had a birthday party here and have been many times besides. The food is out of this world, as are the alcoholic drinks, the staff is friendly, knowledgable and always in good spirits, I would spend any day, rainy ornotherwise in this cozy hideaway with some great board games!
Mike Buck
It was a busy Sunday brunch and we sat at the bar waiting for our table. After talking with the two bartenders, we decided just to eat there. One was named Kim I believe....they were both so nice! The food was great and the service was better! Will be coming back soon!
M D
Pieces was a pleasant surprise. Went there for a happy hour with a few teammates. Lauren (part owner) came up and introduced herself unexpectedly and made us feel at home. The atmosphere was very welcoming and engaging. Had a blast playing new board games, bonding, and drinking great UCBC beer!
Erin Westermayer
It does get a little loud but this visit was so much fun. There are tons of games to choose from and there's always someone to help. The food was delicious. I had the poke bowl and it was super filling.
James Wood
The place is fun and nice on the inside but its a bit of a ripp off. Food is a little overpriced and the drinks definitely are. Plus, every single individual gets charged 5 bucks just to play board game. The bill adds up real fast at this place.
Karin May
This place is always awesome. Have patience with the service. They will come to you. Use the table flags to get attention. The food is great. The servers are very friendly. The game library is plentiful.
Kim Cerveny
I've only been once, with a group of 7 people. It was fun! We were there during trivia, but didn't play and sat in a back room instead, playing games and trying some of the fun drinks.
Allie Brown
What a neat idea for a place! It has over $18,000 worth of games and fun! Great place to go with your friends for a low key night that you don’t want to host. The staff has fun and it’s an enjoyable experience.
Robyn Borgman
I went there tonight and loved it! They had an awesome collection (games old and new, complex and simple) and the NICEST staff! They were so welcoming to me and my family (including my 4 year old niece!) and are down to teach you anything you want! I totally recommend this place!
Bianca Groft
Amazing food and grat ambiance. They do unlimited mimosas for brunch and they have a ton of board games. It's cool to come here with a group of people and just chill and play board games.
Tyler Roe
This is quite a fun place, and pretty unique! It costs $5 to play the board games for however long you want, and a dollar comes off that charge each time you order food or drink. The food was nothing to write home about, but otherwise a great place!
Madison Alsup
This place has it all! Fun games, great food, and amazing drinks!
Edward Lorden
I had the chili for dinner, along with a side of the cornbread. It was one of the best chilis I have ever had, but my taste in chili runs very sweet. It was not a firehouse or 5 alarm chili. But it was thick and full of beef flavor, along with the taste of the spices that are used. The cornbread was fantastic, especially if you ask for melted butter. I had the cookie dough ice cream for dessert. To drink, I tried the peanut butter IPA. It was good, with a nice peanut finish. The last drink I had was a Drunken Dungeonmaster. This was exceptional. It is made with apple pie mead and, if I remember correctly, whiskey. Three was a crisp apple flavor to the drink that really made it something special. The bartender was extremely friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. I didn't play any games at the time, but did enjoy the atmosphere and service.
Matthew Enright
Amazing selection of games and friendly, helpful staff. We also loved the ordering system designed for minimal interruptions during those intense games where someone might flip the board at any moment.
Shawn Williams
This place have a huge selection of games I never heard of. The staff was great, I'm definitely coming back when I do have a chance. I didn't quite experience it 100% because me and friend group left early because of other friends.
Chris Hartley
We love Pieces! Our family all love it here from our 10 year old to the 16 year old to the adults. The food options are really good, and of course and best of all, you can play hundreds of board games.
Jaime Hoff she her
Pieces is so much fun!! We had a blast playing games with our kids. Service was great. They have an excellent system for making sure you have whatever you need. We can't wait to go back!
Rohan Sharma
Booked a room for my friend's bachelor party. The staff were amazing and they were incredibly accommodating with a risqué cake request I had made. Thank you again to Mari and everyone else who made it possible.
Sounds goood
My friends and I visited this place to try out some new board games. We had drinks and dinner and pretty much liked everything we ordered. We had a solid time. Staff was super kind, all of them. Gets loud at dinnertime. Try the strawberry pizazz!
Annie Rataj
Such a fun place to hang w adult friends that isnt a bar. Good food and drinks, great atmosphere. They have every game. Very reasonable pricing system.
Tasha Christina
Such a fun place and really cool concept! Exceptional food and service! The only reason I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars is their drinks (although tasty) are pretty weak, especially for the price you pay.
Anthony Reeves
Food and drinks were great and reasonably priced, the experience and atmosphere was very light and fun. Perfect for an interesting date or a night out with friends. The staff was also friendly and knowledged, couldn't ask for much more.
Travis Williams
Love this place, so much fun. The staff is impressive in the way they help you out with finding and getting going on a game without being overbearing. Each time I go I leave with a new game I want to own or come back to play again.
Alex DeLuna
Great food, prices and atmosphere! Great board game selection as well. They also feature a rotating selection of local breweries beers on tap! And the staff is always there to assist you if you get stumped as well!
Mewgli
Fantastically large library of games, whatever genres you might be into, they'll have games for it! Good eats and drinks as well.
Edit: They are not a card-only establishment, so feel free to use cash or credit!
Andrea Bruemmer
I can not say enough amazing things about Pieces, they always serve up a memorable night! So when I asked my son where he wanted to go for his birthday, i was not surprised he chose here. I am so grateful for the excellent hospitality and service I have received from Laura the owner and her team. Laura: Thank YOU! Our night was perfect, and your team was excellent. Our waitress was impeccable, truly made Braxtons night. Pieces, even had an in - house baker that makes the most amazing desserts, even birthday cakes, which they whipped up for my Braxtons birthday! All I can say, if you enjoy more of an event dining experience you MUST try Pieces, and if you don't you'r certainly missing out!
Mike
Good prices, great selection of games and extremely friendly staff. Will be returning many times!
Robert Timmerberg
Lots of games; wide variety. Full bar with lots of drinks. The Tipsy Dungeonmaster is amazing and a one-of-a-kind! The menu is all local food, well thought out and reasonably priced.
John Fieker
Was there for my grandson Birthday. Good food and drink. Had a great time with family. The rain wasn't so good but that was going and coming from there. But had a great time lots of games to play. Enjoy

Fun board games, decent drink selection, and a myriad of snacks and entrees. Staff is there when you need them, not when you don't. All in all, very nice place
Chris Fawcett
Came in for Mother's Day brunch and was brought my mug of coffee. For a place that prides itself for better food choices (organic, vegetarian, vegan, etc.), I was quite surprised to find they do not offer raw sugar or half-and-half with their coffee service. Fix this, please!
molly reich

The flag system they use should be standard for everywhere. When your not getting pestered about food and all the time is great when your playing board games, and when you do want something its alomst instantaneous
Joseph Naylor
Come for the experience and the games, don't expect any life changing food though. Still earns 5 stars
Heather Hicks
