Reviews of Pappy's Smokehouse
Amazingly Awesome Ribs. We had about a 40 minute wait to be seated, but it was well worth the wait. The staff are super friendly and well efficient at sanitizing and turning over the tables quickly. The orders came out hot within 5 minutes of being seated. The brisket and pulled pork were also delicious. The sides were really good especially the deep fried corn on the cob and the green beans. We can't wait to return. Thanks Pappys for the great food and experience.
Texan guy here, visiting from Austin. We came in for the Cardinals game and saw that this was the place for ribs. Glad we came and waited the hour for a table. Line moves super slow, be prepared to wait. If you have the time, you will get to experience the best pork ribs you've ever eaten. They are deliciously cooked, with that nice chewy bark - slightly sweet. We devoured a full rack between the two of us. Also ordered the combo with "burnt ends". Wasn't how I remembered burnt ends, it was more like pulled brisket. That was too sweet for my taste. My son didn't like it at all. However, the corn-on-the-cob was incredible. If you like corn, don't pass this up. Never had anything like it. They flash fry it and put a nice seasoning with butter on it. Perfection, just like the ribs.
My husband loved this place, I wasn’t a big fan to be honest. Not much of a wait when we went, which was great! Staff was super friendly and my hubby loved his pulled pork and slaw! I had the brisket, baked potato and baked beans. Wasn’t a fan of the way the brisket was sliced(very thin). My potato was still pretty hard and cool on the inside, and my baked beans had a gooey texture to them. I think I gave most of my food to a man standing on the street corner, who was hungry! But like I say about places…you never know unless you try it! The manager or owner one did give my husband a t-shirt for our granddaughter though, which was super cool of him! So kudos for going above and beyond with that!
Hands down the best fall off the bone ribs you will ever eat in your life. It is definitely well worth the wait in the line. The ribs are so good I've spent hours of research trying to find their secretes. They are very secretive about what makes theirs so uniquely different then others. But I've definitely get it very close to figured out.
Amazing St. Louis ribs! So flavorful that you really don't need to add sauce, but the sauces just enhance their flavorful. We had The Big Ben which brings a full rack of ribs, a brisket sandwich , pulled pork sandwich, chicken sandwich and 4 sides. I pick Brisket over pulled pork any day, but I gotta say both were equally delicious. The baked beans is a must. Overall we had a delicious feast and highly recommend. If I could change one thing, it would be the temperature of the food, but that's my preference, I wish it would've been hotter in temp, but that won't stop me from coming back.
The food was quite tender and moist...the ribs seemed to be the biggest hit. The green bean side is quite nicely flavored. I personally had the brisket sandwich. It was super tender properly lean, but was thin sliced and wet and somewhat lacking in intense smoked flavors like I get at another BBQ favorite. The pulled pork was described as very good and flavorful though I only had the brisket. Service was excellent and the atmosphere friendly and open. We had a great meal.
Visiting from out of town. Best BBQ I've had. The meat (I had the chicken and brisket) was juicy and tender. It needs no sauce, though was also good with sauce. I preferred the original over the sweet. The potato salad tasted like summers in my childhood. For my personal taste, the fried corn on the cob everyone raves about was good, but not my favorite preparation. The staff was super friendly and accommodating and got us seated outside very quickly. I didn't know they've been recognized by Food Network for the country's best ribs until after we left. Guess I'll just have to go back another time to try those!
THE BEST! Thankfully we have had our fair share of bbq, and with this Pappy’s is the BEST yet! Tender, fall off the bone goodness! There may be a bit of a wait, but no worries, WAIT, it’ll be worth it!! Service is terrific and the atmosphere is rustic and relaxed!! ENJOY!!!
Brisket and burnt ends were good, but not on that next level to be great. The sides were good as well, but I think a few more such as Mac and cheese would be great to have. Sauces were good as well, especially the Carolina Vinegar and the Sweet Sauce. Overall good brisket, but not revolutionary. Staff and owner/manager were very friendly, and that was greatly appreciated.
The food is amazing!! The ribs and burnt ends were so delicious. Great customer service- really friendly cashier, servers and manager who walked around and checked in to make sure we were enjoying our meal. The food came out quickly as well and the prices were reasonable.
The only thing is that there are 2 restaurants in one building and the signage isn’t too clear. So make sure you ask if this is Pappy’s.
Stopped in for lunch and got ribs, apple sauce, and fries. Very pleased overall. Outdoor seating was arranged with picnic tables on sidewalks on either side of the driveway with minimal wait. Food was brought out quickly. Outdoor service is to-go style even if you're eating in. Ribs were delicious, especially with their sauces. Apple sauce was also better than expected, didn't seem to be just from a jar. Can't say much for the fries though.
Absolutely amazing! You order before you are officially seated so that way you aren’t waiting long for your food. We got a rack of ribs combo with brisket. The brisket was good. The ribs stole the show. They are dry rubbed and you can add the sauce on them once they hit the table. All the sauces were good, but the Jane’s Sweet Sauce was my favorite! The ribs honestly don’t need anything on them. They were amazing! Everyone was overly pleased with the entire experience here and we will definitely be back!
We waited maybe 10 minutes, which was told this is not the norm. I will say when we tried to eat here a few years back the line was wrapped around the building. Plan accordingly so you aren’t surprised.
I ordered ribs with burnt ends side of fries and fried corn. Front end staff was very friendly and we were sat quickly then the food was at our table before I returned from washing my hands. My fries weren’t hot and staff quickly replaced my order. Ribs weren’t freshly hot and the uncut rib side was over cooked too hard to eat. The cut rib side was tender. A man asked me how was my food and I repeated my same story. The parking lot has a sign about leaving belongings in your vehicle so be careful of theft. Overall the burnt ends were very tasteful tender and eating temperature so I know the place has a good reputation but I was in the late lunch time so I didn’t get it.
It was my first time eating Pappy's and certainly won't be my last! The food is incredible, the staff are helpful and awesome, and their condiments are fun to experiment with. For example, crinkle fries with Carolina Vinegar taste just like salt and vinegar potato chips! Unless they run out of food for the day, the wait is well worth it!
Pappys was a hit and food was delicious. Overall the wait was worth it for the meats, gotta come early or they start running out of some meats. The sides were alright, but the fried corn was our favorite, such a unique flavor. Line was short when we got there, but was out the door when we left. Definitely a spot to visit if you're in the area.
Delicious!! And seriously the staff are top notch and friendly. We were walking to our car after eating and a staff member who is walking in to work says "thanks for coming!" He had no reason to say that, not on the clock, no tips involved just an awesome person who loves the place he works at!!
5 ratings for Customer Service, Ambience, Food, and Price.
Perhaps the best sweet potato fries in the world!!!. Dark, crispy, and thinly cut, dipped in any of the remarkable sauces, turning already terrific fries into mouth-watering goodness.
One of STL's best BBQ joints ever!! This place always has a line. IT'S WORTH IT!! And just like the sign on their wall says-it doesn't matter what you get, it's all good! Some of the best BBQs I have ever had. Make sure to get there early because they will sell out of everything by the time they close.
Tried a little bit of everything, it was all delicious. All the meat was juicy, tender and flavorful. Sauces are on point. If you like spicy the hoodoo is 👌
We waited quite a while to get to the ordering station, but food came out in just a few minutes. Place is clean. Staff super friendly. Will definitely go again.
We got there early, so we avoided the mad rush, and this place gets a line around the block. I didn't care much for the sides, but the meat was pretty good. Wouldn't say it was the best I've had, but it was excellent. Service was great, staff was friendly. What more can you ask for. 😎
Ribs are a must, burnt ends and brisket too! Drove in to St Louis for this place on the way back to Chicago. Great people and great food. Take some rub and sauce home and keep the flavor going!
This was my first experience eating at Pappy's. The food is excellent, with a great variety including pulled pork, smoked chicken, smoked turkey breast, burnt ends, ribs, and brisket. Excellent baked beans and coleslaw. Also, they were well-informed and happily accommodating of gluten free needs. Fries are fried in a separate fryer, and all sides and meats (but not the bread, of course) are GF.
The smokers are out front on the sidewalk. I don't trust a bbq joint where you don't see the smokers..... The ribs are the best!! I really enjoyed the corn also but the ribs won the day. We ate inside, but they are set up well for drive up service also.
Goodness gracious! That is quite possibly the best rack of ribs I've ever had. It takes "falls off the bone" to a new level. Everything we had was incredible! Would definitely recommend getting a second meat to your order of ribs and trying the fried corn! Nothing on the menu didn't sound incredible. A must stop when in town!
Everything we ate here was delicious!! The meat was tender and flavorful. The hoodoo sauce was an amazing addition. The applesauce was like nothing I have ever tasted…more like a dessert! Staff was so friendly and helpful throughout our meal.
All I can this is this place is worth the wait! The ribs are close if not the best I've ever eaten, and the Brisket and sides were all very good. The Hoodoo sauce was so good I bought a bottle to take home. Pappy's Smokehouse is a true gem of St. Louis.
Is Rusty still in the navy? Aunt Bethany, granny and I went to Pappy’s for ribs, burnt ends and fries. The burnt ends were good, not great but the ribs were amazing. Grandma wants to know “do ribs stick to your ribs?” Anyway, it was good. The line situation is weird but the service was good, food was great and granny got her fix until our next trip to Texas. Go give them a shot and tell them Granny sent ya. And if you find about about the ribs sticking to ya, let me know. Thanks Pappy!
Best ribs in the US? Most likely. These things are utterly delicious and the sauces to pair are all great as well. The place is constantly packed but somehow they keep it moving so that it's an overall great experience. 10/10
Best Ribs in STL and I would put them agasint anyone's anywhere. The flavor is unmatched and I eat these with no sauce as the flavor profile is so good without adding anything. Always the same from the first time I've had them to today years and years later. Rare for a restaurant to be so consistent.
I had never heard of this place. On a recent trip my friend got asked if we could stop and grab some bottles of sauce to bring back. We obliged and stopped by. We couldn't figure out where this place was because of how inconspicuous it is from outside. I wasn't going to get out of the car just get sauce and go. Well decided to get out and stretch my legs. We ended up getting food and I was so glad we did! I got a burnt ends sandwich with beans and sweet potatoe fries and my friend got a pulled pork sandwich. Both were really good. The original bbq sauce was outstanding the sweet was similar to sweet baby rays and the other 2 were great aswell. I ended up ordering a frito pie to take home. I didn't know what it was till I got there. It's like a walking taco except they take fritos your choice of meat and put their house baked beans (which are Awesome, coming from someone who doesn't like baked beans)on it. Such a great combination I didn't think would work. I really look forward to my next visit here. Definitely check them out.
Woww! Just woww! This is the best pork ribs you will ever have in your life!!! Everybody trust me on this. The food cannot be contested and the Seasoning is phenomenal!! It cannot get any better than this. Get the cornbread too.
Every time we visit St. Louis we make an effort to visit Pappy's Smokehouse. We just really love their food.
The ribs are tender, the chicken is flavorful and smokey, so is the pulled pork.
They have changed their setup due to Covid but we have not waited longer than 10 minutes and had a clean table to eat at.
Highly recommend this place!!!
Oh my goodness where do I start. Everything we had was off the charts. Never had fried corn, ribs fall off the bone, beans so delicious and and pull pork just great. If you are anywhere close to this place stop by get a plate eat in and take one togo.
A MUST STOP. Amazing BBQ, fast service! Rins are a must try! Easy to pull off the bone and no seasoning or sauce needed. The rub they use is perfect with the smoke flavor. Rack of ribs, 2 baked potatoes, and 2 drinks for $40!!! Pick up or eat outside. Great place. Def recommend, will come back.
That's some good Q! The wait in line is well worth it! A variety of Sauces is nice. I tried the Sausage Link and the Brisket. Both were perfectly full of flavor.
And the Sides are for me too!
My wife, son, and I took a road trip to Chicago from Texas. We planned our to trip so a stop in St. Louis was included. The City Museum, The Gateway Arch, and of course Pappy's Smokehouse. We had been one time before, but that was about 12 years ago. First thing that we noticed was they expanded. We got in line (which lasted about 45 minutes). Which anyone with a five knows, it might as well had been 24 hours. We contemplated leaving several times. But that awesome BBQ smell kept us there. We finally make up to order our food. I had never had the ribs before so I gave them a try. And boy was I glad I did. Some of the best ribs I have had in my life. My son, who hates BBQ and BBQ sauce settled on the pulled pork. They had four sauces on the table. He tried them all individually (sans the spicy one) and didn't like any of them. Then he asked if he could mix them, JACKPOT!!!! He ate all his pulled pork with the sauces. Just completely floored. The manager even came by to talk to us and made sure everything was ok. Just a real pleasant experience. Incredible food, great prices, great customer service. I highly recommend Pappy's to anyone. Being a native Texan, I have had my share of BBQ. And Pappy's beats about 99.9% of them hands down.
Ordering was different but kool. Food, service, staff were great!!
We had to go back the next day which was much busier. Found out about the outdoor seating area. Place your order with the tent staff and go to the numbered outside picnic bench. 5 minutes and our food was at our table. Ordered a slab, fried corn on the cob and beans. Didn't finish it. BEST in STL!!
Oh yeah, watched them uncover the SOLD OUT sign hour and half before closing. Very busy place folks.
Like any good BBQ joint the line is long. But the ribs are worth any wait. My family is from Texas and I'm picky about brisket, and if I came back is pass. But these are destination ribs. Good bark, great flavor, perfect texture.
Definitely a solid barbecue place to check out and taste for yourself and see what you think. Possibly the best burnt ends I've ever had. While the two sauces provided were fine, the smoked meat honestly didn't need any sauce to have a ton of flavor. The vinegar slaw was fresh but had an absurdly large amount of liquid in it, however the fried corn on the cob was amazing and the baked beans were delicious although a little bit too sweet for my taste.
Came around 11:15 AM on a Saturday with nice weather and had just a couple minute wait for an outside table, once ordered the food was delivered promptly. There was a 30 to 60 minute wait to sit inside, but there were about 12 tables outside that made the line move pretty fast. Metered parking is available around the area and you can also find free street parking if you look. Definitely check it out and try the burnt ends.
The only thing better than the food was the service! Our whole family ate and we had a great time. Sat outside, enjoyed the sunshine and food and we will definitely be going back!
I'm not a big rib eater, but since the group was going, and I was in the best rib place in the US, I had to have the experience, and boy was I glad I did. It was one of the best pieces of food I've ever eaten, and inspired me to try more types of ribs.
Pappy’s has good service with great barbecue. They have multiple sauces that you can use but my favorite was the original.
Darn good bbq! Line was not bad at all on a Friday at dinner, and moved quick as did the service. Arguably as good as any Nashville joint. Good experience! Pappy's Original sauce is my fav variety.
Their short rib and burnt end are so good! I LOVE the ribs. Even though I had to reheat the ribs they still taste amazing. The sweet potato and fried corn with butter are deciduous as well. I hope I had a chance to get them right out off the stove though.
St. Louis Style BBQ? Uh... Yes, please! Came across this gem from a Google search and so glad we did! Pappy's Smokehouse was incredible! I have never had such amazing brisket in my life and I've had a lot of it. We also got the pulled pork, vinegar slaw (SO GOOD), and baked beans. The staff was super friendly and was kind enough to share some bbq chicken and lots of fresh water with our pup! We left very happy and can't wait to go back!
Food was good. Though I expected the best in St Louis. Ordered the half rack with a second meat, brisket. Green beans, and a much recommended corn on the cob for the sides. Neither were all that great.
Brisket and ribs were tender, but I felt the ribs were a bit thin and the brisket was most but lacked a busy of flavor.
Ordering was very strange. Waited in line to order from a waiter's station in the middle of the dining room floor. Sent to wait on my food at the bar. It came out super quick, maybe 5 minutes.
Also, much too expensive. There is better BBQ for cheaper in town.
Overall now I've tried Salt and Smoke, Sugarfire, and Pappy's. Sugarfire by far is the best I've had in St Louis!
Very huge portions! 2 people can share half a rib. The cashier isn't the most friendly, but I met a staff at the door who told me instructions: order at the cashier first then she will bring you to your seat. Someone will bring your food and call your name.
Yummy, traditional BBQ. They have a long line, serve up slow-roasted meats & a variety of sides. As a vegetarian there was unfortunately not even one token option, but perhaps I should’ve expected as much from a BBQ spot!
The sides were all covered in either sugar, brown sugar, or loads of salt. Good spot depending on what you’re looking for
Where do you even start with a place like this?
If you walk around St. Louis, and ask for recommendations the resounding answer the last 3 days was “Pappy’s”.
Across 27 states and 12 countries (and my father runs a rib restaurant in Spain) the RIBS here at Pappys are quite possibly the best ribs I have tasted. Moist down to the bone, tender like a warm stick of butter, but covered with a sleek bark imbued with a seasoning you can smell down the hallway.
Even the sides, from the baked potato to the phenomenal corn on the cob compliment their dishes well.
The restaurant itself is well decorated and clean, and the system for ordering and seating guarantees you’ll have a seat once you get your order in.
If anyone ever messed with Texas and won, it was probably Pappy’s.
While the wait may be long, and torturous from the other world aroma of meats and sides wafting down the hallway, it is worth every second.
The staff is friendly, well trained and efficient zipping about with seemingly flawless precision.
If I had to criticize anything it’s that it’s really hard to use the ceiling mounted cornhole board.
Our party of five ordered almost everything on the menu and no one disliked anything. This place is where dreams come true. We saved around 30-60 minutes by ordering outside and sitting at a table under a tent. Food came within 10 minutes. All the staff were extremely friendly.
This was recommended by our friend. Before going here, i checked reviews and it was amazing how many reviews this place has and the difference between 5⭐️ vs 1⭐️ is just a lot. We were ready that it will be a long wait.
Yes, it’s totally worth the wait and everything just tasted great!
Wha i appreciate is how quick you serve the food.
This place is highly recommended!!!
Long line is never a problem coz the food will really make you a happy customer!
Surely we are comin’ back!
Delicious & fresh BBQ. The meat was so tender and the ambiance was exactly how I would imagine a good BBQ restaurant to be. Music is great & the staff is attentive. Always a long line because the food is great quality.
Place is amazing. Got the full rack of ribs man this was good. The fries are fresh and really good with ketchup. Baked potatoes were amazing to.
Was driving through the states on a road trip and took a detour that was well worth it. Although the brisket was sub-par, the flavor from the ribs outshined, had just the right amount of pull and the taste was amazing without the need any sauce.
Much better than Sugarfire. The ribs were way more delicious and meaty. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. Definitely go here instead of Sugarfire.
Absolutely fantastic BBQ spot with some of the tastiest ribs I've ever had. Get there early as they only make so much, when they are out, they are out!
It is a must in St.Louis. It was super busy but we got in and out easily. Ribs were the best I ever had.
Great atmosphere. Good system for ordering during the pandemic. We sat inside. Got there late, ~330pm on Sunday. They were out of ribs😒. Tried brisket and hot links. Brisket was thin cut, it was ok, but no bark, limited smoke. It was tender but again a really thin ribbon of meat. The hot link was ok but uninspired. Sides were good. I'd go back to try the ribs, which I have heard are great.
2nd time here, Ribs are the best in STL. The middle of the ribs were super super juicy. Sides were baked beans, green beans and coleslaw. We liked the baked beans the most! First time we got Ribs with Baked Beans and Potato Salad.
I stopped in on my way through St. Louis. It ended up being the culinary highlight of my trip. The ribs were melt-in-your-mouth good. The previous year, I stopped in Kansas City. Sorry KC, St. Louis is taking the crown.
The moment you enter Pappy's you're greated with an aromatic delight letting you know, you made the right decision. Your mouth will make your tongue smack your brain to make a decision. I went with the delectable pulled pork dressed up with a vinegar based coleslaw and the salty sensation of sweet potato fries. I chose both Pappy's Original and HooDoo sauce, of course there is no right selection as they are all amazing. I snuck in a taste of my son's brisket as well as the baked beans...child please. Cannot wait to go again!
Baked beans 5/5
French fries 4.5/5 hot, salty and crispy
Fried corn on the cob 4/5 needed some salt
Potato salad 3/5 too mustardy
Ribs 3/5 crust was decent but they were dry which was surprising and sad
Line was long, but the wait wasn’t too bad and service was fast and easy. Good could’ve been better.
I can't sing enough praise for this place. The staff are incredible, and the food was fantastic. I will come here every time I'm in St Louis. The food selection was great and everything was cooked perfectly. I enjoyed the briscuit the most, it was some of the best that I've had anywhere.
This smokehouse is right in the center of the Locust dist. & it has some of the best hardworking staff and overall superior quality food! 10 / 10 get a little bit of everything!
After a full day at Gateway Arch, we biked two and a half miles to split a Rib Combo plate - half a slab of ribs with 1/4 pound of 2nd meat and two sides for $25.25. The ribs were fall off the bone tender with a sweet and sticky bbq sauce. The burnt ends were cold and tough to pull apart. The cole slaw was too vinegary for our taste but the sweet potato fries were decadent - battered, fried then rolled in sugar. Wish we could have had a beer but they don’t serve that. Line and wait time at 5pm was long so we ordered outside for no wait and sat at a picnic table in the shade. Recommend.
Once again pappy’s Smokehouse house doesn’t disappoint. We drive 4 hours for this delicious BBQ a few times a year.
They have a process that is so smooth you think they have your food ready before you seat down.
The staff is friendly and the restaurant is very comfortable.
Can’t wait to go back in the spring.
My husband and I came to St. Louis for an anniversary get-a-way. Someone he works with recommended Pappy’s. We just left with bellies full of ribs and pulled pork. Holy cow this the BEST BBQ we have ever had. Service was amazing and ended up buying 2 shirts and a hat before we left. Will definitely be back when we visit St. Louis again. Thanks for an amazing experience!!
This was my second visit to Pappy's. I am never disappointed and would return again. The restaurant is clean and provides a great setting for BBQ. If I had to provide any negative feedback it would be the wait but with the quality of food, the wait can be expected. I think we stood in line 30 or 45 minutes for a table. It was interesting though to hear the foolish conversations going on around us. Staff were friendly but could have been a little more pleasant. I guess its tough for them to handle such volume of customers especially some rude tourists. Another great experience at a St. Louis staple. Brisket is always top of the line!
If you only have time to eat at one place in St Louis, you’ve found it. The epitome of bbq, this is the best bbq we’ve ever eaten and we’re including Texas. Can’t replicate this flavor and fire process at home and that’s why it’s unparalleled and will haunt our tastebuds forever. Will come here EVERY. SINGLE. TIME we’re in town. Our only regret is that we didn’t get more to go. Oh and staff are helpful and hospitable in a real non thirsty way. Can leave a cash tip at the register. “Well they know a little something about barbecue” is the realest statement that matches the energy of this place. The food is so good we’re almost forgetting to also tell you that there’s free parking on the side and back. Otherwise metered parking on street out front which doesn’t have signage that says ‘Park at Own Risk’ and ‘Don’t Leave Valuables’. We will absolutely be parking at own risk to eat here again.
Amazing ribs! Flavor on the ribs and burnt ends were 👌👌👌 so good you don’t even need bbq sauce. Fried corn on the cob was too notch as well. …
Popped into Pappy's around 12:30 on a Sunday and had about a 10 minute wait which worked well with checking out the signed menus on the wall and seeing some friends on the Rock N Roll theatre cartoon. The ribs and brisket held up the to posted awards and claims of best.
In town visiting family for a few days and this spot was on my go to list while in town, it did not disappoint. Bit of a long line and wait if looking to dine in, but the takeout service is superb and my wait was minimal. When i did het the change to sit down, I found theael delicious especially the baked beans and the fries.
Ribs are awesome, pulled pork very good, fried sweet corn, baked beans some of the best we've eaten. Just don't get the green beans, they should change their recipe and actually cook the green beans. Will be eating here every time we come to St Louis! Orders came out of kitchen fast friendly staff. Only improvement would be better cashiers to match their great staff!
This was my first time at Pappy's and I would definitely go back. I wanted to try St. Louis style ribs while visiting the city and since Pappy's had the best reviews.. decided to go. The ribs are delicious and cooked perfectly. Seasoned very well and were steaming hot. The sauce was fine, sweet & not spicy. The slaw doesn't have the same base you'd find in the South. Definitely unique but it was very good. The sweet potato fries are delicious and gave the perfect balance to the salty & acidic qualities of the meal. The staff were all on point, high-quality ingredients and it was an overall great experience. A+ for Pappy's.
Really good BBQ and good sides. The meat was good with and without the sauces. Very busy so it was an extremely long wait to get seated
I heard it was good. I read the “best ribs in America” sign at the door. That’s a bold statement. The ribs were on the dry side but very tender. However, the burnt ends was the best brisket I’ve ever tasted. How they can get that flavor out of that beef is incredible! I’ll be back! Sides we had were fries and beans, both delicious!
Pappy’s has the best rib. It’s very delicious. The wait wasn’t too bad and the line move fast. Highly recommend!
My wife and I were in St. Louis over the weekend and we looked up best barbecue in the city and Pappy’s Smokehouse was said to have the best ribs in America (Food Network) so being from Texas that sounded like a challenge so we called before we headed over on Saturday late afternoon and they were sold out of everything and closed early. So after checkout we headed to Pappy’s which is 1.5 miles away and We ordered Ribs, Ends , Pulled Pork and Beef. And I have to admit they were the BEST ribs I have ever eaten. The staff was friendly and the service was great. I will have to make another trip to the Lou to eat at Pappy’s. It’s that Good.
Line was long but moved fairly quickly. The food was really good. We had a good experience.
Roadtripped from Texas to St. Louis. Decided to try some St. Louis BBQ and saw Pappy's was the place to go. We arrived around 1pm on Friday to a line which is always good to see. Waited about 20 minutes to order. I’m not a big pork rib fan but when in Rome. I must say everything we had was great. The ribs were by far the best pork ribs I’ve ever eaten. Burnt ends were great, turkey was also great. The brisket isn’t what I’m used to in Texas, but had good flavor. Fried corn on the cob was excellent as were the green beans, potato salad and baked beans. The service was also excellent. The only negative was they were out of stock of the shirt I wanted to buy. My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again next time we’re out this way.
We had the best experience with Pappy’s Smokehouse!! We stayed in contact with Tina and she was absolutely amazing!! We chose Pappy’s to cater our wedding, all the food was delicious and our guest raved about it. We knew it was great already but they exceeded our expectations!! They were fast, friendly, and very efficient with getting everyone through the line!! We will definitely recommend them to anyone we know needing a caterer! Thank you to our servers and everyone at Pappy’s Smokehouse!!
I visited the restaurant for lunch based on a local recommendation and I was not disappointed. The food and service were excellent. The team was patient with me as a 1st time visitor and the leadership clearly took CDC recommendations and applied them to their dining model. Definitely a "go to" spot.
Well worth the wait!! Best bbq ever!!! The ribs were perfect! Burnt ends delicious! Some of the best sweet potato fries ever. There Is a sauce for every pallette. Staff is super friendly and helpful!!!
Came to Pappy's the first time I visited St. Louis as an adult and now my partner and I make it a point to swing by here for ribs every time we're in town or passing through. Seriously- the best ribs are found here. I'm from KC and it's hard for me to admit it but dayum! Those ribs are straight up fire!
We even placed an order as we were leaving the city and was given an estimate of a few hours- we called the store and explained we're leaving town and only need a rack of ribs. They had it fresh, hot and ready to go by the time we arrived (10 minutes) instead of the longer wait. Great establishment in STL- always a favorite.
I purchased a brisket sandwich with burnt ends as an add on, sweet potato fries, and baked beans and have been here only one time so I don't know if this day was just an odd day or if extremely sugary food is their intention. Certainly an A1C nightmare. I gave up trying to finish my meal. The meat was tender and could have been enjoyed if I could taste a barbecue flavor. The fries look as if they were tossed in sugar. Otherwise the staff was attentive and the visit was pleasant. So many styles of barbecue and I guess this just isn't my favorite. Saucy, tangy and flavorful is my preference and burnt ends to preferably be burnt. It wasn't bad but overly sweet. Syrup sweet. Hoping I got a bad batch. Thank you for the pleasant clean eating experience and this place was serving a lot of people!
The take out service was incredible! We messed up and ordered from the wrong location and Pappys was extremely accommodating. The ribs were really really good! Slight gas flavor but overall amazing. The thinly sliced brisket wasn’t to my liking. The fried corn on the cob was great. Cole slaw was good on meat but okay by itself. Glad I tried this place!
We're in town for the BCCA convention and had a late lunch here. Upon entering the rear door, the smoke smell is intoxicating. Quickly seated, I had the combo of 1/2 rack of ribs with 1/4 # of burnt ends. OMG! Tender, flavorful, juicy. My wife had the brisket sandwich. Thin sliced with the perfect amount of smoke. They offer 4 sauces but the meat doesn't need it. A must stop when in St. Louis.
Absolutely one of the best barbecue spots in St. Louis! Come here early bc the lines be long but worth the wait 😁 …
First off, expect to wait. Secondly, the wait is soooooo worth it!
This is the real deal! I'm not a big BBQ person but this was excellent. Visiting from out of state & will definitely come here again on return visits. Once you get through the line your food is on the table in minutes. I cannot recommend the fried corn enough. DELICIOUS!
Saying this place has good BBQ don't get the job done. I got burnt ends and pulled pork. Both were moist, fork-tender, and full of flavor!! I like that Pappy's leaves the sauce up to you! Both meats were great without sauce but I like a little vinegar on my pulled pork--the Carolina sauce was perfect--& the Hoodoo sauce was just the right amount of heat to compliment those burnt ends!!
Definitely worth dining here if you're in the St Louis area.
In my opinion this is the go-to spot in St Louis for ribs. The rest of the barbecue is amazing; the ribs are stand out though. I also had the burnt ends which are little different and that's a good thing. They're not cubed chunks but more like a smoked pot roast. The sides were common but top notch. Be prepared for a wait. If you don't want to wait I suggest getting a to-go order. The menu prices may seem a little high but the portions are good. I highly recommend going. When you talk to the pit Masters and they have individual pits for each type of meat you know they mean business. Hope you enjoy it.
EVERYTHING is to die for! Their ribs are my absolute favorite to date. The barbecue sauce was tasty, but I didn’t use it because I didn’t need it. The sweet potato fries were perfection, crispy on the outside, hot and soft on the inside. The burnt ends were phenomenal, with just the right amount of burnt, without all of the fat, set other barbecue joints pass off as being brisket. 10 out of 10 will come again. Worth the wait!
It's good, BBQ. But if you're a BBQ connoisseur, just stick to the ribs. Having tried BBQ all over America, this falls within the top 20%. It's not falling off the bone (which is on par with St. Louis) and overly smokey like a Texas BBQ. But it's good. The brisket is super thinly sliced , i.e. think lunch meat while a bit shocking and disappointing at first glance, it's tasty and will win you over. Overall, great customer service, fast and efficient operation, and a great high energetic place to eat. Above average, BBQ. I'd rate it B+
We came a few minutes before opening on a rainy weekday and were welcomed by plenty of staff directing us to the parking lot. We got in line in the hallway and quickly had many, many people behind us. By the time we left, the line was long out the door. Glad we came when we did! The staff inside were all very friendly and helpful. Often at these types of places, they know people will come based on reputation and don’t offer customer service, so we were pleased to see that was not the case here. We enjoyed the ribs and corn a lot!!
Get there early, it's worth the wait. My wife and I had ribs, brisket, and the pulled pork, along with green beans and corn and fries. Everything was excellent. Want to get a shirt but no one would assist me with that. Maybe I'll have to see if they have a website.
Pappy's is AWESOME!!!!! My food was perfect! The atmosphere was great. Staff was friendly. Overall a wonderful experience.
Well worth the wait. The ribs are quality choice meat and sauces were amazing. Sides were great. Smokers were outside. Ordered a to-go for my step- mother's visit. Voted #1 ribs in the Nation by the Food Network. Ask for DJ, great attitude.
We went to three BBQ spots on our trip to St. Louis and Kansas City, and this was my favorite! Delicious ribs and sauces, fried corn on the cob, and French fries. It was quicker to eat outside than inside, which worked great until the rain came!
We are not from St. Louis but it was a great place to stop and get some St. Louis bbq. We were greeted by Sheila who was so enthusiastic. We told her it was our first time, so she helps put our order together so we can enjoy the dishes they had to offer. The food was great, the area was great, and the staff that worked there was amazing.
The best ribs hands down! Brisket, chicken, and pulled pork were outstanding as well. I've had southern BBQ from NC to TX but I must say these ribs were so good and tasty that is hard to describe.
The best BBQ ribs! We also had the delicious brisket and wow! The sweet potato fries!!! Everything was 5 star! The line was long but we were served in only 6 minutes.
Great! - but I might be a little jaded. Meaty ribs - not a fan of the crunch on it. I was the only one of the group to not love it. Sweet potato fries were crunchy in a good way and on the sweeter side perhaps because it seemed that they added brown sugar as well as seasoning. Fried corn was a disappointment. Slaw was excellent but the size of the side felt stingy. Beans (I did not sample) but heard they were good. Glad to have samples Memphis style ribs in St Louis.
Amazing. This is a must-try place to eat in STL! Ribs, pulled pork, and sides were incredible!

Not like your Pappy’s BBQ!
Pappy’s Smokehouse has been on my travel list since it’s inception. A friend gave me a list of places to visit in St. Louis and this was on there and it was his #1 recommended place. So after 5+ years, I have finally made it there… and it was nothing like I expected.
Now, that usually has a negative connotation tied to it, but not in this situation. I was expecting it to be a upscale restaurant where the meals are $15 per person. Well, it’s not. The best way to describe it is a ‘fast food BBQ restaurant’. How fast? Fastest I’ve ever seen for any place I have been to. I placed my order, talked to my mom and brother about where we can sit and before I could even walk to the table, they were handing me my try of food.
Jimmy Johns, eat your heart out.
The staff was top-notch. They greeted us right away, handed us menus and helped us out with how to order since we told them it was our first time there. Also, there was a pig with a hat on near the register.
As for the food, it was mostly great. I tried two of the four sauces they offer. Pappy’s Original and Jane’s Sweet. Pappy’s Original was alright, but I really liked the Jane’s Sweet. It paired really well with my Pulled Chicken sandwich. You get two sides with your basket and I picked applesauce and sweet potato fries. The applesauce was great. Really can’t mess that up. But my fries were a downer. They were barely warm and kind of soggy.
My mom got the Pulled Pork sandwich and was in love. She is a huge BBQ fan. My brother got a Frito Salad and didn’t care for it (he had his heart set on McDonald’s). So I polished that off for him and it was unique and delicious.
Overall, Pappy’s was definitely worth the 5 year wait to try it out. I will actually be in St. Louis again in under 2 weeks from now, so it’ll be hard to try a different new place when I know Pappy’s isn’t far from where I will be.
Incredibly delicious! I’ve found a new place I will visit each time I visit St Louis! They were already sold out of their world famous ribs, so I got the brisket and my wife got the pulled pork. Both were incredible and super tender and juicy! I can’t wait to eat here again. I was seated right away and the food came out pretty fast too!
Been to St. Louis twice, ate at Pappy's both times.
First time had the ribs and burnt ends combo, the burnt ends were good but the ribs were so delicious I wish I had just ordered a full slab. Sauces were great.
Second time had a half slab of ribs and they were even better then I remembered and the fried corn on the cob was amazing.
This place is very busy but worth the wait!! The bbq pork was good, sauces were average but nothing special. I enjoyed the fries and baked beans as well. The baked beans had a lot of meat in them but great flavor!
Ok, I seriously don't like to just hand out five stars like they were my grandmother's cookies. However these guys really have earned every single star given. From the atmosphere, customer service, and above all the food!!! Their ribs are definitely the bread and butter of the whole operation. But, the beef brisket was honestly the most tender I have had. The burnt ends in a league of their own, and the corn on the cob made me cry in my sweet tea. I definitely recommend giving this place a try for a truly great BBQ experience. But, you don't have to take my word for it.
Had the 1/2 rack pork ribs with coleslaw and baked beans, was excellent.
Let me tell you….this is not the place you want to miss while visiting St. Louis. Dispute the rumors of long lines, we stood in line roughly 15 minutes before we were seated. The service was excellent, BUT the food though!!!!!! Our party of four all ordered a half slab of ribs, Burt ends with two sides. When I say the ribs needed no sauce, that’s what I mean. You have to try the fried corn on the cob. I was brave and ordered the potato salad…and didn’t have to ask who made it. Lol. Well worth the drive from Indy.
Delicious!! And seriously the staff are top notch and friendly. We were walking to our car after eating and a staff member who is walking in to work says "thanks for coming!" He had no reason to say that, not on the clock, no tips involved just an awesome person who loves the place he works at!!
Baby back ribs are great, meaty and tender. Forget the sausage though, basically a jumbo hot dog. Be sure to review the online menu prior to arriving as you order at a station when you are escorted into the dining area.
Will be back!
We tried to order the night before, but they close at 6ish. We looked... but it didn't register. We were staying in town so instead of getting up and leaving right away we hung out so we could have lunch there. Looking at the menu, it seemed pricey. When I got my plate and saw the amount of food and amount of meat on the ribs I was happy with the price. I love ribs, but not many places have good ribs. These were fantastic! I hade to eat 2 without any sauce because the flavor of the rub and smoking was so good. Also got burnt ends which were very good and moist. I tried all 4 sauces. The 3 barbecue sauce were all very good and flavorful. I can picture them on different foods. The slaw was vinegar based for those who don't like mayo and you must try the fried corn on the cob. Everyone who walked by checked on us. We were very pleased with our experience and glad we waited to have lunch there.
Food was delicious, be careful when ordering through these food apps. They can’t check the food before delivery. I ordered Burnt ends and got sliced pork instead. Ordered fried corn wasn’t in the bag. Totally disappointed because I don’t live here and wanted to try them out and my order was wrong and missing items. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because the was delicious. Hopefully next time I come to town I’ll just go to the restaurant and order.
We used Pappy's for our wedding caterer and we highly recommend them for anyone! Pappy's was highly communicative thoughtout the whole planning process. They offered a free tasting and helped us pick out our day of menu. They answered all questions we had and made adjustments to fit our needs. The day of, we were running ahead of schedule and Pappy's rallied to make it so that we could start dinner earlier and have more time for the party. The food was delicious and we got so many compliments. Pappy's packed up all the food items left over to take home with us and even provided sauce to go. I would recommend them for anyone looking for an amazing and delicious caterer!
Went there with my senior group, had a wonderful time and the burned ends are the best!
Everything we got was delicious, honestly the best bbq I’ve ever had. The staff are friendly and helpful. This is a must stop if you’re just visiting St. Louis get there early as they close when they run out of everything. 10/10
Food was spectacular... Line was fairly long and felt like it moved slowly, but overall was worth the wait (we waited about 45 minutes). Had the brisket, ribs, and pulled pork in our group.
Pappy's seems to be the most popular BBQ joint in St. Louis. We were interested in getting a taste of St. Louis BBQ, so we figured this was the place to start. I wouldn't say it was bad, per se, but it doesn't hold up to Memphis, that's for sure.
Lines are a permanent fixture at Pappy's, but they move pretty quickly. We were behind 15-20 people but got through it in less than 10 minutes, I'd say. While there are long lines, we didn't have any trouble finding a place to sit. They bring the food out to you when it's ready.
Service was very friendly, helped us find our seats, had no problem finding us with our food (despite the crowd), and checked up on us midway through our meal.
I had the pulled pork, with sweet potato fries and applesauce. My boyfriend had the ribs with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. Overall, the sides were pretty good. The sweet potato fries seemed to have a light sugar sprinkle on them; they're sweeter than some that I've had, but still thin and crispy. I liked them. The applesauce seemed homemade, as it still had nice chunks of apple in it, with brown sugar sprinkled on top. Never been to a BBQ place that offers applesauce, but apples and pork are a match made in heaven, so that's a pretty good idea in my book.
My boyfriend did not like the slaw at all. He took about one bite and was done. Far too much vinegar. He said his ribs were "pretty good," but I'm not a huge rib connoisseur, so I didn't try them.
Unfortunately, the pulled pork was a huge low point. While it had decent smoke flavor, it was chopped too thickly (which is better than too thin, but still not ideal), was a little on the greasy side, and my word, it was so MUSHY. That was the biggest problem. It basically disintegrated on the tongue. It was really disappointing.
While I wouldn't go so far as to say the BBQ here was bad, I would say I probably wouldn't return, and would opt instead to experiment with one of the many other BBQ offerings in the city.
Best ribs I have ever tasted in 62 years.
Very tender also.
Found this place on the internet under "best ribs in St Louis", could just as well be listed as "best ribs in the world".
The bbq sauces were tasty but not needed on these delicious ribs.
Go early as they may sell out, we got there around 3 and got a full rack, sign was on door when we left "sold out".
So so good. The only downside is the line is long and they run out of things, especially burnt ends. But if you don't mind the waiting time you will be rewarded with the most awesome barbecue St Louis has to offer.
Our first visit to St. Louis and our first stop for food had to be Pappy's Smokehouse St. Louis. We had read and watched reviews about it, and it lived up to the hype. The meat was tender, the sauces very flavorful, and enough options for my vegetarian friend. The sweet potato fries were hot and crispy, yet super satisfying, the fried corn was a nice compliment to the meal. My vegetarian friend had a huge salad and baked potato. I would definitely recommend to anyone as a go to food stop!
Food came out quickly and there was outdoor seating, which I appreciated. Other than the food being tasty, they know how to handle a large crowd and are extremely competent. Would definitely go back again.
The most amazing BBQ ribs I have ever had in my life. Great choice of 4 sauces from sweet to spicy. Tons of really great sides to pair with your choice of meats. Staff was really friendly staff. Everyone was wearing masks, tables were distant, sanitizer stations were available, and marking were on the ground to help direct foot traffic. This is a must go to spot in St. Louis!!!
Bar-None, Pappy’s is the best BBQ in the St. Louis area, and one of the tops that I have had in the country. The ribs are incredible and the burnt ends are unparalleled!!! If you’re in St. Louis, be sure to check this box!! Mmmmmm
Still the best ribs and burnt ends in St Louis at least, probably best in Missouri. And the house bbq sauce "Hoodoo"is a perfect compliment to the ribs.(be careful!,it will fire your mouth up if you use to much!). If you like fabulous bbq then treat yourself to some of the best in the Midwest.adam from man vs food loved it and so did guy from triple d
First off the fried corn was unreal! I’m not a huge corn person, but I would order that every time here. The ribs carried so much flavor and juice without any bbq sauce! Of course add some to your liking. Anytime I come to St. Louis I’m coming back here to eat.
Was passing through and ordered pickup. There were very efficient and accommodating. They had plenty of parking, outdoor seating, and outdoor restrooms. The food was absolutely incredible. I got the brisket sandwich and my buddy got the pulled pork. We tried all the sauces, they were all spectacular, especially the spicy.
I was very disappointed. Pappy's is supposed to be one of the best, but the ribs were very dry! The flavor was good, but not moist at all. I was expecting exceptional quality... 😣
The chicken was okay, but without a hint of smokiness. I did enjoy the spicy sausage, pulled pork, potato salad, and variety of BBQ sauce options.
I am from Texas and was road tripping through town. So, maybe I was not able to properly pivot to the Saint Louis/Memphis style or maybe it was an off day. I hope for better next time.
BBQ is awesome at Pappy's from the ribs to pulled pork and the brisket. The deep fried corn was sweet and juicy too. Will be back for more!
I absolutely love this place. The ribs are pull apart tender, the fried corn delicious and we'll seasoned and the potato salad is bangin'. 10/10 definitely recommend.
What can I say about this iconic place? It lives up to the hype. Tracey and I were in town briefly and stopped for lunch. Absolutely some of the best barbeque we've had anywhere, nationwide. Must stop here!
These have to be the best ribs in America. They are so tender and the seasoning on the ribs is so good we do not use any sauce. We also got the green beans and potato salad and they were very good.
Yeah I’m very impressed with the quality of the meat here.
But my absolute favorite was the fried corn on the cob!
It’s not cheap but it is an amazing quality and good quantity.
It was very quick with a 5 minute wait to order. The food is not overrated.
Great ribs. Very good restaurant. The setup 3a little different. You order your food, pay, and ate the seated. The pulled pork was also very good. Sauces are on the table. Sauces include a sweet, vinegar based, original, and a spicy one. The sides were good. I had potato salad and green beans. I would definitely recommend this place.
It is the best BBQ I have ever been. Simply the best.
Very straightforward and simple service: order at the counter and the meal will arrive to your table. My advice is to order a full rack of ribs as it is the best item on a menu.
We tried half rack of ribs plus beef brisket as extra meat. Even though brisket was a little bland and nothing to brag about, but ribs were astonishing, melting in the mouth and falling of the bone. BBQ sauce selection at the table gave even more flavors to the pallet.
Pappy’s Smokehouse on Tuesday night which, (not)surprisingly, had still plenty of visitors. Prices are very affordable too.
A must visit authentic place while in St. Louis!!
Best burnt ends I have ever eaten. A must stop in St Louis.
Food was delicious! I'm a big food critic but I have not had great BBQ like this in a long time. The line was long but went fairly quickly. We stood in line for about 10-15 minutes and got our food within 5-7 minutes. of ordering. I couldn't get a picture before the kids were digging in. The ribs actually had meat on them and the BBQ sauces were worth trying. This place moved to the top of my lists.
Their brisket and ribs were smoked to perfection. The green beans had just a bit of kick in them to give some nice flavors and the baked beans were delicious. The burnt ends were good, but nothing special.
Love this place! Long lines well worth the wait. Very consistent great meals. Will be going back for sure!
Good bbq. This was our first time eating bbq in St. Louis. It’s always so interesting to see the regional differences in this genre. Brisket was sliced very thinly, as with a deli slicer rather than a knife. Burnt ends was more like pulled meat including bark. In other places, burnt ends are like pieces with mostly bark. All very tasty. Husband like fried corn. The buns for sandwiches were soft and a little sweet almost like King’s Hawaiian, very good. This was my first time to have Fitz’s root beer, and I think it might be the best I’ve had. It was milder than A&W, which I liked.
So good. I came to town hoping to get some st louis ribs but these baby backs are as good as the ones I make. Baked beans mixed with the burnt ends is amazing. Green beans were money too. Great spot
Had the full slab of ribs, corn and fries. Best ribs by far I’ve ever had. Highly recommended if your anywhere near St. Louis.
First time coming here. Place is very popular, we got here at 10:50 a.m. and they were open already with a line of people inside. All I can say is the barbeque was amazing! I had 1/2 ribs and 1/4 lbs of brisket. You have 4 types of sauces on the table for you to try with the meats. The portions were awesome. I had fried corn on the cob (a bit oily but good) and the sweet potato fries (had a tad of cinnamon). Overall, if you want St. Louis style bbq THIS is the place to go. It's worth the wait and the prices. Awesome place.
If you come to St. Louis, you can’t leave until you eat here!! Possibly the best BBQ in the world. All the sauces are delicious, but you really don’t even need sauce! My favorite right now is the Carolina style sauce, vinegar based and very spicy! The best meats are the ribs and burnt ends shown in the first picture. The pulled pork is also some divine swine!
Come early, they do sell out. Usually the line is out the door. The also play amazing Blues to listen to while you wait. Sometimes it can take 30 minutes waiting to get the food. It is definitely worth the wait!
Great ribs! Sweet potato fries were yummy too. Travelled in May 2019 and only a 5 minute wait to order. Highly recommended.
I have been to Pappy's I think four or five times now and they are always delicious. Today we happened to be in the area and stopped in. Surprisingly, we didn't have to wait in the line all the way out and around (but have many times and it's worth it!). We waited less than 10 minutes today. As always the ribs were fall off the bone amazing. I am always a fan of the fried corn on the cob and the sweet potato fries. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Jason had the baked beans and pulled pork- both tasty, too! Another favorite of mine is their burnt ends, so much flavor!! I like eating it with the thick bread served on the bottom. The brisket is a solid choice, too! Pepsi products are available and they have cookies for dessert. We brought many of my family members from out of town here the day after our wedding and it was a huge hit! Everyone left with full bellies!
Food was amazing! Ribs were out of this world... staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We went early afternoon on a weekday and was able to get right in and food was delivered quickly and hot. Sauces were wonderful. We couldn't decide, so we got a little of everything. Definitely recommend Pappy's to all my friends and family.
One of the best BBQ places that I have ever been! Everything is good! I went at around 6:30PM on a Wednesday evening and they were already out of the Beef Brisket and the Burnt Bits... I waited in a long queue for about 45 minutes and by the time I put in the order they just had the pulled pork and the spicy sausage. The pulled pork was probably the best I've ever had and even the sauces were so good. I got a view of some of the ribs that people had ordered and just by looking at this I could see the meat falling off.
Do go to the place if you're in town. Be sure to go early!
Pro Tip: Order ahead and take to go and eat next door at Center Ice Brewery.
The wait to order will be long (45 mins on a winter Saturday at 1:30) but once you order and sit, food comes out in 5 minutes. And the food, oh so good. Baby Back Ribs for sure, and Frito Pie if you're extra hungry. Sweet Potato Fries were superb, and I like the Vinegar Coleslaw (some will not).
Stopped in while visiting St Louis on recommendation of the Holiday Inn staff and glad they did. There was a bit of a wait standing in line, a bummer on my sore, arthritic knees, then Maggie greeted me about half way through and made the experience seem like a pleasure. I was seated immediately after ordering a half slab of ribs, baked beans and corn on the cob. The food arrived fast hot and tasty. The ribs were soooo good, I wished I had a full slab. The corn was grilled to perfection and the beans were so good, I had a second helping when I ordered the other half of my slab of ribs. Highly recommendable. 6 if there's a line wait because it's well worth it if there's no line consider yourself lucky. We had the smoked turkey burnt ends and a slab of ribs for two people it was more than enough and we had leftovers. I'm from the Midwest so it's kind of hard to impress me with ribs but I can't say enough good things about their dry rub ribs and the sweet potato fries yum.
Excellent Ribs. I can see why they are so highly rated. I also had the pulled pork, vinegar slaw, and baked potato.
BBQ was good but not mind blowing great like I feel everyone raves it is. I thought it was a little overpriced for what you got. It was neat to say I finally went there but I doubt I'll be trekking back into the city to just go there. Also, they don't have creamy coleslaw, only vinegar based and none of the other sides looked that great.
Overall, for the hype is was slightly disappointing. The food was really good just not amazing.
Was a lil skeptical at first but we got there to a line outside good thing ot wasn't cold or we would of left. Once we got in we were seated the food came out promptly which was hot and fresh. The food was well seasond and the portions were decent. Definitely one of the best bbq joints by far. We will definitely be back...
Super delicious food at a Great price! 🤗 A simple menu with a wide range of side selections. I recommend the half slab of melt-in-your-mouth ribs with the green beans and potatoe salad! Yummy! The ribs, although prepared as "dry rub," are not dry but in fact tender and moist. The dry rub means they're not covered in a BBQ sauce, but if you prefer that style, they have FANTASTIC sauce for you to select from. The staff are attentive and strive to ensure your dining experience is a positive one. Five Stars! 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠 Thank you!
Paige is excellent at Customer Service. She treated me wonderfully. Overall a wonderful experience. Well worth it.
Oh. My. Ribs! This place is no joke, the best ribs of life are served here! So delicious, no gristle in sight, just perfectly moist ribs! We went during the lunch rush but after we left there was zero line, but really the food was worth the wait! The smell of the place is incredible! The sides were tasty but the star of the meal was definitely the ribs (burnt ends were divine too). I also liked that they had a selection of Fitzs soda here, another classic St.Louis find!
The food was pretty good. The ribs were very tender but a little bland. The bbq sauce made it better. The link was more of a sausage link than a hot link. The beans were more tangy than sweet.
Great ribs and service. Don't be intimidated by the long lines. They are pretty efficient at getting you in. Took about twenty-five minutes when we started outside the restaurant. The coleslaw is tart. The green beans were lightly cooked with oil. The baked beans were pretty good. They have a variety of sauces to choose from. The bathrooms are clean. The portions were fair.
Great pork ribs. Dry rub with sauces on the side. I found them so delicious that I didn’t use the sauces. Tender yet with bite.
Lines do form and wind through hallway. The line moved fast and table was ready for us when done ordering. Food came out fast and hot!
The best bbq ribs anywhere 😋
Maybe the best BBQ to ever touch my lips!!
Love this place! Easy, low-key, great food and staff. Interesting things to look at on walls. Mostly, great bbq. From Texas, we have had bbq all over the country. Pappy's is top tier.
The staff were so friendly! the line was long, however the service was fast; we got our food before we even sat down! Great beef brisket and burnt end, we couldn't eat it all! Sweet potato fries were cool, but I ate regular fries! Over all it is a awesome place to eat good BBQ!
Delicious smoked BBQ, possibly the best ribs I've ever had. Lots of staff around to assist with dining room clean up and knowledge about their smoking process. Get there early! The wait is worth it.
Passing through from Chicago on my way to Phoenix and got a tip from a friend to check this place out. The hype did not disappoint! Quick and friendly service coupled with large portions and lip smacking food made for a pleasant experience. The pulled pork was so tender that it was hard to tell which was more soft - the bun or the pork. Deep fried corn on the cob made the corn extra sweet. Solid baked beans and a local root beer made me a happy tourist. Wish I had more time to come back and try something else!
Check out the pictures of the Wall of Fame. This placed has been well-traveled by celebrities, including politicians, rock stars (Maroon 5 and Jimmy Eat World) and sports figures.
My Favorite pork ribs in the country! They were so good I didn't use any of my BBQ sauce other than 1 dip to give it a try. They are dry rubbed and then smoked and when you bite into these tender ribs your mouth explodes with flavor and smokiness... I could easily eat one rack by myself lol. They had sold out of the burnt ends and brisket (what I was looking forward to) by 2pm on a Sunday.... so get there early. Ordering was confusing and you have to ask for a paper menu? You don't know exactly who to place your order with as they seem a little chaotic. I did like their card reader on a stick idea, have been all over the country during this pandemic and not seen that yet. Very creative. Service was still good even though unorganized some. I can't wait to get back to St Lewy for another run at Pappys!
9/23/22 Came back and got the Big Ben combo. Still phenomenal, not surprising at all! I learned today how amazing their burnt ends are, wow! And it's a lot of food for the money!
So I've been wanting to go to St. Louis for awhile now, and of course being a foodie I started researching the best restaurants in St. Louis. When I saw that Food Network ranked this place's ribs the best in the country, of course I added this to my Day 1 itinerary. I literally went straight from home to here.
There was a one hour wait in line, but I didn't drive 6 hours to turn back so of course I waited. I was so excited I could hardly sit once I placed my order.
Yes, the ribs are really that good! The feeling when you take a bite is pure euphoria, especially with their phenomenal BBQ sauce. The brisket was also impossibly juicy, most briskets, at least from my experience, aren't that juicy. The sides were super good too! The vinegar slaw is addicting, and the potato salad is almost as good as my great grandma's famous potato salad, which is extremely difficult. Definitely a culinary experience for the books.
The best bbq in stl. Even with a long line, service is super slick and quick. Once seated, food comes almost immediately
One of the best smoke houses I have been to in the USA. About 10 industrial sized smokers all around the outside of the building
There was about a 20 min wait but well worth it
Burnt ends were great and I would highly recommend stopping by
Amazing. Brisket was tender and the ribs were so tasty they didn't need any sauce. Sweet potato fries had the ideal blend of sugar and salt and had the perfect texture. Solid BBQ, delicious.
Pappy's deserves a 3.5. Overrated. No real beans. No mac n cheese. Roast beef very good. Buns are too sweet. Potato salad too sweet. Baked beans too sweet. Ribs need more real smoke heat and a touch sweeter dusting. Pulled pork rocks!
AMAZING BBQ! We were there at a good time. Only in line for 5 minutes and by the time we ordered and got drinks half of our food was coming out! Absolutely delicious. Great side and amazing bbq. Portions were generous as well. Top notch.
Pappys extraordinary barbecue! On our trip back through from AZ we made a special stop into pappys. We jumped in line with 50 people ahead of us... in only 20 minutes we had ordered and were seated with our food trailing right behind us... wow! Awesome service!..Today we had 2 slabs, pulled pork sandwich, and brisket sandwich. Their fried grill corn was to die for and the kids loved all. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Only negative...wish they had a Spicey Hot Sauce. If this helped .. hit like
Pappy's Smokehouse is hands down the BEST thing in St Louis! Ribs, Ribs, Ribs, COMPETITION WINNING Ribs! John is a great guy, with well earned pride in those...RIBS! Corn on the Cob is so appealing I didn't want to disturb it! Lots of great sides. The staff are all very friendly and I felt BEYOND appreciated. I was looking hard to find a reason to even BE in St Louis today. Now, I have all the reason to return again and again! Thanks again John for making us feel as welcome as family. It was the BEST meal Sasha ever had! And thanks to the staff that really made it a memorable experience!
BBQ Temple! I don't remember being in a place where everything tastes divine!
absolutely not to miss.
I am a little sorry there's no real beer, but I guess there's a good reason.
don't be discouraged by the waiting line. there were 20 people in line before us and I bet we started eating sooner then in other places.
The food was beyond delicious. Best barbecue in the area, hands down. The service was very efficient at getting orders taken and getting food out. Servers were incredibly friendly and helpful. There are 4 different kinds of barbecue sauces you can put on your food, and they are all as delicious as they are different. There's their KC style sauce, their vinegar based, their spicy and their house sauce. I wish I lived closer, so I can go here more often. Also, that deep fried corn on the cob is a must have.
Hands down... This one of the best barbecue ribs I've had. This is First of my top 5's as of 2019. The customer service is also excellent. Food service is quick. 2-5 minutes for my food shown.
If you're looking for a BBQ experience in St. Louis, this is the place. It's a local favorite featuring dry rub ribs that would rise the the top in any competition. I've visited a few times in the afternoon to find a line out the door. You'll want to get there early before their ribs sell out. The experience is fun with pigs and other randomness around.
Bbq ribs were good. Recommend sweet potatoes fries and fried corn delicious. Gave it 4 stars due to the BBQ sauce not being that great. This is a great place to eat BBQ in this Area. FYI I'm a Texan so this is just my opinion.Look bellow for pic of Texas BBQ.
ALSO Expect long wait to order food.
Wow! Juicy pulled pork. Hearty serving of food. The sweet potato fries had sugar on them which enhanced the flavor. We visited for dinner and the line was significantly shorter. However, they were beginning to run out of food. Definitely recommend if you are looking for good BBQ in the St Louis area.
We love to try new BBQ places out. Pappys Smokehouse had the most friendly and helpful staff with getting my kids and their walkers past the line and to a table, which wasn't expected. The bbq meats were good but lacking that smokehouse taste. The pulled pork was the best, the spicy sausage was not spicy at all, and the brisket was just ok. The fried corn on the cob was really good with a light fried crispy coating. The sweet poto fries with a dusting of sugar were delicious and addicting. The baked beans were sweet and blah. The bbq sauses were nothing special which they had original, spicy, sweet, and a vinegar. It was worth eating there once but probably won't return again. We do appreciate the courteous staff for their helpfulness and kidness to our families special needs.
Pork ribs are really good. It's the best place I've ever eaten.
Food was EXCELLENT and brought out FAST!! Best barbecue I’ve had in a long time. Pappy’s was recommended by a good friend of mine and I’m glad we came!! When in town, I’ll definitely come back to visit!!!
We were invited here with friends. I have never ordered ribs at a restaurant before Only ate at home. These were some of the best ribs ever. Potato salad was amazing. Staff!! Every single person that we encountered was friendly with a smile on their face. We had our food in less than 10 minutes. There were 9 of us!! Love this place and if I am ever back in the area we will be coming here.
Supposed to be one of the top 10 BBQ places in the country. Pretty good but I would not rate it that highly. Pulled pork was good, brisket was good, not great (not as good as they do in Texas, sorry St. Louis), chicken was okay. Ribs were a little overcooked for my taste and fell off the bone entirely. Sauces were pretty good, the usual selection of a sweet one, a spicy one and a mustard-based. Sides were pretty good, the real standout was the fried corn- it's just like it sounds, deep fried corn on the cob. It was a little mushy but had an intense corn flavor like I have never tasted before. Only been here once, this place is an institution and there must be a reason, but honestly I've had better.
Easily the best BBQ I have ever had (I've been to Texas and Memphis).
Fall of the bones ribs. Sides were perfect. Corn and beans for the win.
Service was top notch. We were checked in on throughout our meal to ensure it met out expectations. Everyone was nice and had a smile.
I would go to st Louis just for this place.
Best ribs in St Louis. No sauce needed. Amazing. Highly recommend the fried corn on the cob as well. Go early!!!
This is by far some of the best food I have had! The ribs were literally falling of the bone and the flavor of the sausage was phenomenal!! I got the Adam bomb and it fed 4 people for $80! So it's definitely affordable. Would recommend this to all my friends and family.
We came to visit a friend and it was my first time in St. Louis, I ask my friend if they had some good BBQ and he recommend it. It did not disappoint everything was very tasty and we brought some back we us. I can wait to come back and eat here again.
BBQ.. The BEST I have ever had. Mouth watering. Falls off the bone! Generous portions. FAST GOOD SERVICE. STAFF IS FRIENDLY. We were asked several times by staff if we needed anything. If everything was good.. Pricing is right. From the time we ordered to the time we got our drinks and to our seats was no more than 7 mins, if that. Yet the food was hot and delicious. You really do not need sauce for the ribs as they are seasoned just right. The brisket was tender and so yummy. The chicken was as well. We chose the beans, potato salad, cole slaw and corn on the cob. They also did NOT disappoint. WOW! I would give you more stars if I could. Do NOT pass up eating here.
The ribs were fantastic! The corns and sweet potato were pretty good as well. Would love to come again!
Best ribs in the country. Hands down! The bbq sauce is amazing. The ribs are smoked to perfection. I also tried the fried corn on the cob ! So good.
It was amazing. My dad and I both had the ribs combo, with pulled pork.
The beans were great and the potato salad was awesome.
Its pretty good. The ribs are where its at. We tried the ribs, chicken, burnt ends and brisket. Sides was amazing. The brisket was cooked to perfection but lacked flavor. I think if they injected it it would be up there with the ribs. The staff is wonderful and the bathrooms are nice and clean. I'd given it a 5 but for the price I would have expected it all to be perfect.
Brisket was sliced thin, juicy, tender and full of flavor. Ribs were some of the best I've every had, amazing bark, seasoned to perfection, tender, but not sloppy falling off the bone (as ribs should be). Hefty portions, long line to be seat, but that means you know it's worth it. I seriously cannot say enough about the place, YOU MUST VISIT THIS PLACE HANDS DOWN!!!
Ribs were perfect fast line even faster food service 😋 👌
We opted for outdoor seating on a beautiful 75° day. Ribs arrive unsauced with "original" and "sweet" on the side. Awesome tender, spicy, juicy without sauce. Nice tangy kick from original sauce, sweet was good as well and not too sweet. Side of baked beans has pulled pork in them - a nice plus. Great, fast service. A solid 10!
This was the best BBQ I've ever had. I was visiting from Chicago and found this while looking up BBQ in STL. I was not disappointed at all. The ribs were fall off the bone, the fried corn on the cob was great, the sweet potato fries were pretty good. I can not suggest this place enough.
Amazing food! We are tracking from Virginia and wanted an authentic experience. I didn’t use bbq sauce because it was so good. Sides were amazing as well!
I drove from CT to Missouri and stopped at St.Louis. We went to pappy's. You have to try the fried chiken out of this world, how crispy, juicy and full of flavors.
AMAZING BBQ! The table had briskett, pulled pork and turkey for meat choices. Get the brisket or pulled pork! Turkey texture was alittle off though. The baked beans!!!!OMG the baked beans! I am not a fan of baked beans ever but these were to die for. The corn on the cob also was out of this world. Fries were fries. Vinegar slaw was fine. The bbq sauces were also amazing. We watched the afternoon brisket being put into the smoker which was fun also. The staff was sooooo nice to us out of towners 😉 GO HERE! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
This is a rightfully popular place with great meats, tasty sides, and attentive service. My advice is to arrive before opening (as there is always a line) to ensure that they don’t run out of the meat that you want (which they do). Order the brisket toasted raviolis and burnt ends as it’s a delicious combination.
Well worth the drive. Came from Detroit to Arkansas to Oklahoma to Pappy's. My 3rd time eating here. Have had BBQ all over the country, this is some of the best. Had ribs and brisket, both were amazing!!
Good food. Ribs fell off the bone. You didn’t need any sauce for the meat. Sides were homemade. We had a 20/30 minute wait, but it was worth it. Will visit again.
Dont go late (close to closing) they run out of food. BBQ is great it's worth the wait!
The food was great and the staff were friendly. The place is famous so you better hurry or will need to wait in a long line.
You order the food at a register and then get seated; the line was long but moved swiftly; the people were friendly and helpful
Get the full rack of ribs combo - it us so delicious! Get here early cause they were sold out of the burnt ends when we get here around 5pm.
As our journey on the road from Michigan to Texas begin, I was looking forward to this particular stop 🛑 and enjoy a good bbq for lunch and make this road trip more memorable, well it didn’t disappoint, the reason I wanted to stop here was to enjoy their famous bbq ribs. So ofcrc I ordered a slab of the ribs, they have only one kind ie dry rub. I also got some pulled pork and some burnt ends. For my sides I selected the highly rated sweet potato fries and the fried corn on the Cobb .. fair warning ⚠️ you can avoid the corn on the Cobb, and only order the fries if you are gonna be enjoying them right away, they got soggy and weren’t as enjoyable on the road.
The star of the show were the ribs and hands down one of the best I have had. 5 stars
Burnt ends were also surprisingly good. 4 stars
Pulled pork was kinda bland and disappointing 3 ✨ stars may be .
Sides for me were noting special so may be 2 stars I guess.
Service was really good staff was very helpful 5 stars there again.
Over all satisfied and recommend.
Best burnt ends ever! Ribs were great!
Service is awesome. They definitely take a lot of pride in their food.
So glad I stopped by!
Stayed in St Louis on a road trip and ate at Pappy's Smokehouse for lunch. Wow was it amazing. I had a pulled pork and beef brisket platter with baked beans and sweet potato fries. Expect a long wait during lunch and dinner time (go in between 3 and 5).
Amazing ribs. Also had the burnt ends yummy. Potato salad and cole slaw 👍🏻. We had about an hour wait which isn’t bad from what I hear it could have been longer. We went on a Sunday afternoon around 2. Once you order your food come to your table in about 5 minutes. So glad we found this place.
The pulled pork sandwich was a bit dry and def vmbenefits from the three sauces, but why so day?
The brisket sandwich was extraordinary. And delicious.
The choices in BBQ sauces are named and are generally a good, typical BBQ sauce, a hotter (but not overly hot), and a too-sweet sauce. Match your tastes.
The sweet potato fries are overly sweet thanks to a sugar coating. I prefer savory fries. No regular fries are offered, though a baked potato is offered. Among the vegetables as sides is a wonderful grilled corn on the cob!
BEST RIBS EVER! Love the dry rub ribs, also amazing is the burnt ends and sweet potato fries. Everything else is also good, but these really stand out. Any time I'm in St Louis I try to stop by, you just can't get this good of BBQ just anywhere.
Good food and service..Outstanding beans and sweet potato fries 🍟
Awesome.... just awesome! I would love to go again. The burnt ends and rings were amazing. (I confess I didn't like the brisket.)
First time we came the rib tips were sold out , but the second time they had it and I will not get anything else after that my goodness they were out of this world! By themselves they were a delicious but partner them up with any of their sauce then it is heavenly!
Do not order the brisket. It is cut way too thin. Sides were great (potato salad, green beans, sweet corn on the cob). Wife thought the ribs were good because they were served warm. Better rolls would be a wonderful addition instead of boring sliced white bread.
St. Louis style BBQ at its finest. The smell of Oak, Hickory, and Maple are in the air. Ribs were the family favorite on our trip.
I’ve tried a lot of bbq but this is one of the best I’ve had! You may have to wait for a bit but it’s definitely worth it.
You gotta try the big ben you get a full slab of ribs pulled pork sandwich sandwich beef brisket sandwich barbecue chicken sandwich and 4 sides. You must try the deep fried corn
The bbq is good, but for someone like me that prefers spice (hot) over sweet this wasn't for me. My husband loved the ribs though. Staff was very attentive too.
The service and atmosphere was nice but the food is a little too hyped. We were fairly disappointed at the average results for high prices. No corn bread at a BBQ restaurant?
Best ribs on the planet! Been coming here for ribs a few times a year from a Chicago suburb since 2010. I have made the drive just for this place. This time ordered fried pickles from the restaurant next door. Best fried pickle chips. Such good flavor. Great side dish for BBQ.
If I could give it 15 stars. I would. First time going and I would definitely go again if I’m ever in st.Louis again. Seriously amazing. Just look at my daughters face- she approves (she also says the smoked Turkey is a must!)
Love the Ribs and the smoked chicken! It was super busy when we got there, but if you are willing to eat outside, the food came out super quick! We can't wait to come back!
It was very busy when I went, which was right around lunchtime. However, the line moved quickly, and we were seated within 10 minutes. I was going to order the brisket, but I changed my mind when I saw a newspaper clipping stating Pappy's had the "Best Ribs in America". I'm glad I ordered the ribs! They were delicious and tender. Fell right off the bone. The different sauce options were all great, but honestly, no sauce is needed for the ribs.
Great options for the sides, as well. I got the Cole slaw (vinegar based) and Mac and cheese.
I'll be sure to visit again next time I'm in St. Louis. Looking forward to trying other meats, but I will definitely get the ribs again.
This spot is the real deal. They run a super efficient operation. You walk in, place your order, grab your seat, food comes out in less than ten minutes. The meat is so tasty, perfectly smoked. We ordered the pulled chicken, brisket and ribs...All amazing. The corn on a cob side is a must try. Note there is no alcohol served at this restaurant. Definitely a great stop over in St. Louis.
All the reviews were right. Best ribs I've ever had...and I try to hit all the good BBQ joints when I travel. Sweet potato fries are a must have too. Came all the way from WI for this one!
Some of the best barbeque I've had. Ordered the brisket, pulled pork, fried corn on the cob, and fries. Everything was delicious and the staff was really friendly.
Food is fantastic and definitely worth the wait. I will definitely come back next time I'm in town.
I enjoyed the BBQ Salad with Burnt Ends. Yum yum! So yes go for the food. Definitely go for the amazing bbq. But here is where Pappy's goes from great to amazing. They take service and organization seriously. Pappy's maintains order and a service friendly atmosphere even with big crowds. Great job! Pappy's is well run and you can tell. Other busy, stand up order restaurants could learn some lessons. IJS! I will be back with friends😉
WOW!!!! Next time your in St. Louis you have to stop in at Pappy's. Make sure you come in early because they make there smoked meats in the morning and they could run out later in the day. I had the full rack of ribs. By far the best I have ever had.
Meat choices were limited at the end of the day but the pulled pork and ribs were very tasty. The ribs were a bit fatty. I thoroughly enjoyed the baked beans and potato salad. The sauces were good. Especially enjoyed the hotter variety, Hoodoo I think. I would definitely return. However, I prefer Sugarfire Smokehouse because of their broad variety of sauces and sides.
Is this place overrated? In my opinion it has some of the best ribs I have ever had in my life. Smoke ring throughout the meat down to the bone. I have never seen that before! Not overly salty. The edges might be a little too dry and crusty but well worth it for all that smoke flavor. Very tender and moist however, how do they do it? Sides are great also. Definitely worth a try. Tourist hotspot so come early.
I got the ribs (of course), coleslaw and baked beans. The coleslaw wasn't too great. The beans were good. The ribs though, oh my, they were good. They were really the best ribs I've ever eaten. I can definitely see why they were voted America's best ribs.
Visited by many celebrities, it's easy to see why. Limited parking around the building so get there before any lunch or dinner rushes. With an unorthodox way of getting in line to order food, our line started at the back of the building out the back door. You can look at the menu online or be handed one from someone who works there managing the line. By the time you get to the register to order food, immediately afterward, they'll seat you and bring your food to you. After recently been to Memphis, this unexpectedly made the top of the list of the best BBQ I've had. Everything was delicious and just right. Many visits are in my future.
True to its reputation, the ribs were the best that I've ever had. It's worth the drive, even from hours away. If you're passing through St. Louis, you really should give it a try, it's kinda a once in a lifetime thing. Sweet potato fries were pretty remarkable too, with just the right amount of brown sugar.
Tina was an amazing to work with for my catered event. She paid attention to all my concerns and was extremely kind. On the day of the event - Tina, Tim, and Colin made sure everything was amazing. The food was excellent and everyone was impressed that attended. I would highly suggest calling Tina at Pappy’s for your next event.
We had Pappy's cater our wedding and Tina was wonderful to work with. Our venue had to cancel 3 hours before our wedding because of a flash flood and Tina got our food to us when we found an emergency "venue."
She was so sweet and the food was amazing. Everyone loved it! Some of the best barbecue we've had! Thank you Pappy's!
Very good BBQ. The quality has dropped since the last time I came here (pre-covid)
Their ribs went from the best I had ever had to just above average. Their burnt ends were essentially just pulled pork which was also weird.
Overall it was good, but it wasn't to the standards Pappy's has set for us before and had us coming back for many years.
Omg this place was sooooo good! Top 3 best places to eat bbq that I’ve had! We were not sure we would be able to get the food we wanted because sometimes they run out and have to turn people away. So we called ahead and ordered take out. If you call ahead you can’t eat in the restaurant so we gladly took the food to the car to eat. So glad for this experience!
Best BBQ hands down - worth the 90 minute wait. Ribs live up to reputation and the sides held their own - loved the baked beans and applesauce in particular.
It's good. There's no doubt about it. Baked beans and vinegar slaw.
Quite possibly the best BBQ I've ever had. We ordered the Adam Richman platter from the Man vs Food episode. Ribs are amazing. All the sides were great. Brisket amazing.
I had to come to St. Louis on business and my chiropractor had told me I needed to visit Pappy's because it is the best BBQ ever. Boy was he right! I had the brisket with fried corn on the cob and sweet potato fries. Heaven. The portion is huge but you could split or end up with some amazing leftovers. Highly recommend. It'll be a regular visit of mine for all future St. Louis business trips.
Good tasting barbecue.....we forgot to use the sauce. We had the ribs, baked beans, potato salad and fried corn. All of the food was GREAT!! The server Hal for carry out was friendly and quite pleasant. We will visit again before leaving St.Louis
Absolutely loved this place. Drove 4 hours for the Best Ribs in the country and I wasn't let down! Great atmosphere and service, if I'm ever back in St Louis I'll be sure to come back to Pappy's! A+
Don't give many five-star. This place is everything they say it is. Sandwich was delicious and the side dishes were exceptional. Probably the best cole slaw I've had
Mmm mmh mmm. Great BBQ, definitely worth the wait. The line was very long and we waited about 1 1/2 hrs right after opening @ 11. The staff was courteous, the food was fast once ordered and the food was good!!
Best BBQ in St Louis! It's a family ritual to eat here when we travel.
We will plan our trip to accommodate thier operating hours.
BBQ was delish! Traveled from Massachusetts to eat here!
Possibly the best ribs I ever had. 30 minute wait to be seated but food came out within 5 minutes. Recommend the sweet potato fries too!
Best ribs and sweet potato fries EVER! The service was amazingly swift for the size of the line! We will definitely come back whenever we're in town!
We ordered the pulled pork platter with fries and beans. We also order the brisket platter with slaw and potato salad. The brisket reminded me of roast beef, it wasn't good at all. The pulled pork was great. All the sides were really good. We went back the next day to order pulled pork and pulled chicken togo but they were sold out by the time we got there.
This place lived up to the hype. The line started at the door, and 30 minutes later I was eating the best ribs in America. My wife had the burnt ends and said they were wonderful.
I really enjoyed this place the ribs are excellent also the brisket. I went early but there was still a long line be prepared to wait, but it's worth it.
Definitely, a must restaurant. As a foodie, everything was delicious from pulled pork, beef brisket, chicken, and how can we not mention the ribs. Also, they have a wide range of BBQ sauces. Be prepared to wait in line but I do recommend the wait as a serious foodie. I take my grub on to another level. 🙊 …
I'll go back. Ribs and pork were good! Thin sliced brisket has deli meat characteristics and gets cold quickly. I guess maybe it's a St Louis thing? Not my favorite.
Great BBQ! A variety of meats on the menu, served until they run out. Indoor dining and picnic tables outside. Curbside service even includes a credit card reader on long stick to reach in your car. Friendly, helpful staff.
Address is on Olive St, but the entrance, drive up, and parking lot are around the corner (south).
Best advertising is the smell of food cooking as you approach.
This is BBQ. A must stop place when in St. Louis. BBQ was smoked to perfection. We had brisket, the ribs, and pulled chicken and all were amazing. You get 4 extra house made BBQ sauces at your table.
Heads up: this is an in and out place. You need to have your whole party with you when you order and you can only grab a seat after placing your order. This makes great efficient service. Don't get bogged down if there's a line because it moves fast! Come early because they do sell out of the popular items.
This was not what I expected at all but when we asked around, taxi drivers, Lyft drivers, our hotel folks, all said we needed to try this place. It is like a fast food restaurant but sit down, the food has been cooking for 18 hours and melts in your mouth. I had the 1/2 rib with cornbread and green beans. The ribs are done with a dry rub and there are a mess of different sauces that you can add. I prefer mine without the sauce and it was truly a treat. They only serve soft drinks and beer, so save your liquid indulgence for another locale.
It is amazing how big the place is and the number of people that were in and out in a very short period of time. Hang in if there is a line for food and seating, it will not take long and it is worth the wait.
Best bbq I've had since moving up from Texas!!! Ordering is weird and it was crazy busy. But really loved the ribs.
The ribs were fantastic! Everyone in our party was from Texas, and we all agreed that Pappy’s barbecue is damn good. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries and green beans. Both were tasty. Pappy’s original sauce also went well with the meat and fries. Enjoy!
Visiting from Oklahoma and ate here due to the positive reviews. Pleasant walk from my hotel. Figured the walk would justify my overeating. I had the pulled chicken platter with baked beans and potato salad. The chicken was tender and you get a lot. I could only eat about half as the portion is so generous. Potato salad is made with red potatoes with the skin on, no eggs that I could see but it was good. My fav was the baked beans... I just really appreciate a good & flavorful baked beans. I brought the remainder back to my hotel room and plan on eating the rest later cause I'm too full. I'd recommend eating here.
If you are ever in St. Louis this place needs to be on your list. The ribs are some of the best I have ever had and the deep fried corn on the cob is worth the trip. I visit this place anytime I am in St. Louis.
Me and my wife we’re here for the weekend from Louisville Kentucky and this place was just a couple of miles from our hotel so we thought we’d give it a try I got the ribs fries and baked beans my wife also got the ribs fries And the potato salad and I can tell you we were not disappointed whatsoever I would highly recommend anyone in this area to eat here all the food was fantastic
We were in town for a comedy show and was definitely worth stopping in I will eat here every time I'm in town
I was disappointed I didn’t get there in time for brisket, but I had pulled pork and it was sooooo delicious. I loved the green beans and applesauce. You can also buy shirts. I got a few for family and one for myself. Cool place with autographed menus all over the walls!
Love Pappy's!
We live in NW Illinois and Vacation in Lake of the Ozarks every other year. Although there is a more direct route home, we drive through St Louis just to have Pappy's!!
WOW!!! Fantastic ribs, brisket, cole slaw and applesauce, each stood alone as great, but combined, incredible. Very friendly staff, great setting, a St. Louis must!
Fantastic BBQ! Sauce or no sauce, it is worth the wait! We ordered the big ben which includes ribs, beef, pork, chicken and 4 sides. Everything was great, even the coleslaw which is vinegar based and usually not my favorite style. Wish I was close enough to come back and try more!
I had a Full Rack of Ribs, Fried Corn on the Cob and Baked Beans.
I had heard that the ribs were voted 'The Best in America' and I wasn't disappointed.
The ribs were the best I've ever had and the corn and beans were delicious!!
Best BBQ I had ever ever had!!
PLEASE ORDER THE RIBBBBBBBBBBBBBBs!
They are incredible!
Pappy's deserves every bit of praise it recieves. It's an unpretentious BBQ joint with amazing meats. The staff is extremely attentive and helpful all around. The burnt ends are out of this world. Perfectly charred and tender. They melt in your mouth. Pappy's original sauce is the perfect tangy yet savory sauce to smother everything in. Just don't come in your Sunday best or wear a bib at the table because you won't be able to resist digging in. Be prepared for a nap immediately afterwards though. This is a day ender for sure, in the best way possible of course.
Completely delicious, the ribs are top notch as always. Perfect dinner.
Excellent ribs, could be the best que in lou! I'll be back!! I sent them an email saying I was coming to see how their ribs stacked up against our East Texas backwoods redneck ribs. I loved the flavor from using cherry and apple wood to smoke their ribs. Add to that their own rub, you have some of the best ribs I've ever eaten! Not a drop of bbq sauce on them, didn't need it. 5 stars!!
Delicious BBQ that came highly recommend and did not disappoint. The service was very friendly and efficient. Will definitely return when back in St Louis.
Definitely one of the best US barbecue. Would be even better if they had more options for sauce.
The food was good, the wait seemed long but went by really fast which was great, and the portions were generous but with a matching higher price. I'm only in town for today and unfortunately they had already run out of burnt ends and it was only 6pm which was sad since I heard that eas one of their best dishes. Everyone in line was raving about them. Too bad.
I ended up getting: Half Rack of Ribs - Corn on the Cob and Baked Beans for sides.
My wife got: 2 Meat Platter (Pulled Pork and Brisket) - Green Beans and Sweet Potato Fries for sides.
The sweet potato fries were some of the best I've ever had. I highly recommend them!!! They were my favorite part of the meal. The meats were good but there wasn't anything too special about it that really had it stand out. I was honestly expecting something a bit more than what I got which is why I gave them a 4 star. When I spending $50 for 2 people to eat, the food should have a bit more of a wow factor in every bite, but I'm starting to think only the Burnt Ends will do that from here from what I've heard. So go earlier than 6pm... Maybe even earlier than 3pm??
Don’t be scared away by the long line. That’s to dine in, just get it to go. I got my order in 10 mins and it was the bbq best ribs i’ve even had!
Ordered a Brisket Baked potato with the beans on the side. It was just the right amount of food to where you don’t feel stuffed but satisfied. I will say I’m glad I put the beans in the side since personally I’m not a big fan of baked beans too sweet for my liking. Overall the brisket was pretty good.
Some of the best bbq tasted. Be sure to arrive early or you will be waiting in line. Great staff, comfortable atmosphere, and good pricing.
There was not a single thing that I didn't like about this place. There is always a line but it goes pretty quickly and your food comes within minutes once you are seated. Best bbq I've had yet!!
Evidently we went at the perfect time, 3 on on a Saturday. The line was short, the food plentiful. Had the halfrack combo with burnt ends, and my sides were sweet potato fries and coke slaw. The ribs were perfect, and the taste was so on point that they needed no sauce. The burnt ends were a generous quarter pound. I've read reviews about running out of items, but we didn't face this.
By the time we were leaving, the line was out the door, as it should be for food this good. I'll be back.
#1 in St Louis for a reason!
Full of smoky flavor! Maybe I'm just not used to it! This meal will satisfy me until noon the next day
The ribs were good. They had a decent selection of sauces. Their burnt ends though, not so much.
The best ribs I think I have ever had. I had to go up for seconds because I couldn't get enough. The fried corn on tbe cob was unique. The applesauce is homemade and exactly the way that applesauce should taste. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. I will be visiting this place again if I get the chance.
Pappy smokehouse had amazing BBQ, I had a rack of ribs my wife had the pork sandwich.. just expect a line if you show up late, but it does move faster than expected!!
These ribs are mouth-wateringly tender with a savory rub that hits the spot. The slaw is vinegar-based, which offers a refreshing side instead of the usual more mayo-base coleslaw. And the fried corn on the cob is County Fair delicious!
OMG, no offense to anyone that cooks barbecue but this is the best food I have ever had hands down!!!
I travel a bunch, and I always they to have a meal at whatever place the most local people suggest. Lately, I have been trying to find the best BBQ in America, and Pappy's has most definitely got the best ribs. I tried almost everything, and it was all delicious, but the ribs cannot be beat.
Food is great, just beware - somebody tried to steal our car RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE MAIN ENTRANCE!! Rear window was broken an I had to pay 365$ for the repair... Just beware.. Otherwise, the place is very nice.
Paper thin brisket slices. I don't think they season there meat. Great music playlist. Not a fan of the sausage. Friendly staff.
One of the best BBQ places in the Midwest. Expect a line most times, but that's because it's worth the wait and people know it!
Best BBQ I've ever eaten. Will always be my 'go to' spot whenever I'm in the STL area.
SDM, Social Distance Mandate, everything was great. The food always good at Pappy's, we also took some home.
Always amazing! The highlight of any trip to StL should start or end w Papi's! You must have burnt ends and BBQ Spud.
There's a reason why Pappy's is the overwhelmingly favorite spot for BBQ in St. Louis. The meats are very tender and lightly seasoned, leaving room for the sauces. The sides are pretty much exactly what you'd want to go along with smoked meats. Instead of just complementing the meats, they make the meal better. The sauces are the only thing that I'm not very impressed by, but they are almost not necessary with the quality of food served here. Pappy's is a must-try for anybody in St. Louis! Be prepared to wait in line any day, any time.
I had some time before my flight and was staying at the Ameristar Casino in St Charles, I asked several people for recommendations and was told if I want the best BBQ Ribs I had to go to Pappy's. A 35min drive later and a short wait in line, it did not disappoint. They have 4 options for sauces that the ribs absolutely don't need. They are packed with flavor. I don't expect to be back in St.Louis but should I ever make my way back, it will include a stop in at Pappy's.
Visiting for weekend. First time here. Friends recommended. Hard to beat KC area when it comes to BBQ. It was pretty good. Would recommend. Papas sauce had a ginger taste. Liked janes sweet bbq. My husband liked the hoodoo sauce.
It's not the best in St Louis because I said so, go here and put it in your mouth! You won't be disappointed.
And don't worry about the line, good food is popular. The staff works hard and they know how to make the line move
Pappy’s Smokehouse is a St Louis Staple! We are never disappointed when we go eat there. This time, we brought friends from out of town and they loved it. Just a tip: go early. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
You could not find smoked BBQ pork so delicious this side of Smithfield, Virginia. The service was as good as my lunch. Couldn't be better!!
Vinegar based slaw was just ok. Ribs good. Baked potatoes awesome. Great blues in background. Long wait. Brisket kind of average, but I prefer Texas brisket.
Was in the party room for a rehearsal dinner. Was a good time and optimally casual for the night before the wedding.
A few years back we came and food had ran out, but not this time around. It was outstanding and oh so good, wanted to try everything so we got the Adam Bomb with corn on the cob, slaw and bake beans, can wait to go back!!!
If your ever in St. Louis visit Pappy's Smokehouse. I had The ribs, corn, and sweet potato fries. The food is great and the service was better. Making my experience here one of the best.
The ribs are to die for. So meaty and tasty. Good service. Great atmosphere
I was disappointed because this place isn't St. Louis style bbq, it's Memphis. The pulled pork sandwich was good, but it wasn't why I went, I went for st louis style ribs.
I must do for foodies in St Louis.... the best barbecue reasonably priced with a great menu to try. It was also once featured on the TV show "Man vs Food," now there is a plate named after the host Adam called "The Adam Bomb"
This visit, I had the pulled chicken sandwich with some applesauce for a very tasty lunch!
Great food and service. Sides were on point. Ribs fell of the bone and the meat was still a perfect texture. Just sticky enough. Next time I'm in town I'll be going back.
I was recommended to go here by our hotel. It was as good as expected. Come early for ribs because they go fast. The atmosphere is fun and the staff takes great pride in creating a personal experience. Expect a long line to order food, but it's worth the wait.
Great bbq that includes Blues music and attentive employees. Dining room has been expanded which was greatly needed. You won't go wrong!
Their ribs is a must try although it's slightly pricy, but trust me it's worth the value! The platters are also amazing!
Pappy's is the best St. Louis barbeque hands down! Park in the back but lock your vehicle. If you get inside and there's a long line, don't be discouraged. They're great at moving people along. The first time we ate there we were so surprised at how quickly we received our food! Our favorites are the ribs of course, and the deep fried corn. Really chill atmosphere with blues music playing. This is a must if you live in STL or are just passing through!
When in St. Louis, go to Pappy's. I'm not much of a meat eater but my trip warranted two stops here. On the first, I had burnt ends with sweet potato fries, trying every sauce and enjoying them all. The second trip I ordered a slab of ribs and baked potato, needless to say I was only able to eat 3 rib tips and a few bites of potatoes. I did not let this delicious meal go to waste, it was packed up and became dinner.
Fantastic BBQ spot. Don't let the line fool you out of going. It moves quick and is worth the wait.
EXPECT A LONG LINE/WAIT!! From out of town and took an Uber here. The line was all the way to the back door and didn't move at all. I can't imagine how long the wait would have been. Had to go elsewhere. Not knocking the place. It must be good. Just keep it in mind if you're in the same situation.. maybe call ahead to see how long the wait is....
Really great experience at Pappy's. We came for lunch and within 15 minutes of being seated we had our food in front of us. Too many good things! Ribs, pulled pork, chicken, corn, fries - all very tasty. The ribs were amazing - easy to tell why they were named best ribs in America by the Food Network! The various sauces were a great option for each persons preference.
I was told this was the best bbq in St. Louis and I haven't tried any others yet, but they have my vote! Get there early as they can run out of meat.
If you're fixin for BBQ, Pappy's is the place to go. I ordered the ribs plate, with sweet potato fries, fried corn, and a side order of burnt ends. YES! This place is amazing! Do not be deterred by the parking or long lines. You wait in line to order and then you will always find a seat afterwards (seating is only for people who have already ordered). I would recommend the ribs and burnt ends (if they have not sold out yet - go early!). The fried corn was a bit too greasy for my taste, though I realize it is fried. Sweet potato fries had some good seasoning, just needed a bit more salt. The tables are loaded with four different types of sauces, I liked each one of them. Whether you're a local or a tourist trying to eat like a local, this is the place to go!
We loved the food and service at Pappy’s! My favorite was the BBQ chicken salad. The chicken was so tender and juicy and we really liked he sweet potato fries ! Loved t!
The line was a 2hour wait, my wife and I decided to exit the line call our order in, we received our food at the outside pickup area in 10 minutes. Good BBQ! 👍
Had lunch here yesterday 4.16.22 and quite honestly probably the best ribs we’ve ever had in any state! Tender, fall off the bone and very tasty. Don’t let the super long line to order discourage you, it goes pretty quick and it’s worth it.
Great place to eat. fast service, good food, lots of food had some ribs best I have eaten;and the Sweet potatoe fries are the best
Hands down, the best Q in the Lou! It has been a while since I have been there, but my taste buds have never forgotten how great this food is. When I tasted their sweat potato fries, I never knew how could it could be. I took some to go. I typically order the shredded beef brisket and the flavors are amazing. The meat is perfectly cooked and very juicy. The workers are the best, very personable and friendly. They also catered at an event that I attended and the quality of food was just as excellent.
Food was real good had a beef brisket sandwich with sweet potatoe fries (which were amazing) and corn on the cob quick service my only complaint it the parking in the back is very tight getting out of I would highly recommend eating here again
I really enjoyed Pappy's Smokehouse. The wait wasn't very long at all. The staff were friendly. And the food was excellent and was served promptly. The only minor issue was they were all out of corn on the cob. Oh well.
Really good ribs! And food came out fresh n hot in literally 1 minute!
We got the half rack, brisket and burnt ends (my favorite) with an array of sides. The fried corn was the best. try the hoodoo sause if you like spicy. Every one was friendly. We waited about 45 minutes in line to order but the food came out quick. Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours if the line is out the door to the sidewalk
This place was AMAZING!!!! Great BBQ and for the line it was fast service. My group consisted of 4 Adults and 2 little kids and 1 baby and they had a table for us right once we ordered! IT WAS AMAZING!! I thought for sure they would not have one for us, but they did :) The sandwiches are a great size and the RIBS are SO TENDER!! 100% try this place out!
Great bbq. Tried this place on whim from a recommendation, glad I did. I ordered the ribs and they were juicy and flavorful. The sides I choose was potato salad and baked beans. The baked beans were some of the best I have ever had. I also tried a side of burnt tips and that was amazing as well. Thank you!
This is hands down the best barbecue I've ever had. I'm from Chicago and recently spent a week in Kansas City. That being said, best barbecue I've ever had!
There will never be a time when I visit St Louis and Not Stop At Pappys! LOVE Pappys. I always get a little bit of everything even a t shirt lol. The deep fried corn is just nuts. Plus i always have to take Two slabs with me for the trip home... Love it.needless
The green beans? Excellent. The corn? Delicious! The ribs? Pretty dang good! I took one star off cause the Texas Roadhouse ribs I had the other night, the meat literally fell off the bone if you tried picking the ribs up, it was amazing. And while Pappys ribs tasted really really good. They were no where NEAR this tender. Still a very satisfying meal!
Love going to Pappy's Smokehouse. Food is great. Service was very good. A must go when in St Louis.
Yum. Yum. Yum. Excellent speedy service that gets you some finger lickin' food! Days later and I'm still full! I reccomend coming here on a VERY empty stomach.
Really great food! The meat is full of flavor and very tender. They have a nice selection of sauces on the tables, and wet wipes which you will need. We have eaten here 2x in the last 10 years, whenever we travel from Oklahoma to Michigan, and the quality and flavor is always good!
I've stopped twice before and didn't have time to wait, finally had time and it was fantastic. Great bbq and sides. Atmosphere was pure bbq joint. Make the time and stop by
This was the first place we visited when my wife and I arrived in St Louis. The service was great as we were able to order outside and then sit outside at one of the many tables outside. The food came within 5 minutes. We ended up blown away by the food. The ribs lived up to the hype as they had great flavor, were tender and tasted amazing. The brunt ends tasted great and the brisket was also good. The original BBQ sauce was good as I used some with the brisket but the rest of the BBQ food did not need it. I loved their vinger coleslaw and baked beans. My wife also liked her sweet potato fries. So far, this is in the top 3 of BBQ restaurants that I have visited along with Fox BBQ (Atl) and Smoque (Chicago).
This place is amazing. I can't believe I lived in St.louis my whole life and never ate here. This place is delicious.
Well came here for a friend in Baltimore to pick up some spices and sauces. Should have checked hour's before coming over. Theirs always next year.....
Pappy's atmosphere is awesome, the setup and the public view of the smokers makes it quite a trip. Also that smell is heavenly. Parking isn't the greatest, but it's the city. The green beans where to die for and perfectly seasoned. The ribs where perfect, stayed on the bone and where very tender. The bread that came with the plater was coldish, like they recently pulled it out of a fridge. The brisket was poor. It was cut to thin which means they are faking out a tough brisket. Didn't retain the heat through my meal. I'd visit them again, but will refrain from the brisket.
This place was highly recommended by a co-worker. I stopped in for a brisket sandwich and I was so glad that I did. I tried the original barbecue sauce and it was good. The meat was so tender and cooked just right. It’s up there with the best! 😊 …
Stopped off otw back to NC to grab some lunch. Got a full rack with corn on cob and baked beans. Food Network voted them best wings in the nation and I definitely discovered why. Phenomenal food and staff. A definite must if passing through or spending any amount of time in St. Louis.
Such great ribs! The spicy sauce is enough heat and flavor without wrecking your mouth (but I'd eat something spicier if they went hotter!) Burnt ends were fantastic, no extra sauce needed. Put the vinegar sauce on the sweet potato fries!
This place was Fantastic! Service was great & unbelievably fast! Staff was friendly and helpful. It was a well oiled machine. The food, A+++++++++++...
Pappy's is a staple in the STL its one of the Best Barbeque places to eat here it and absolute must to try the best Brisket, Ribs, Burnt Ends and Sides 😋
Burnt end sandwich with sweet potato fries and baked beans. Everything was delicious and the meat is good without any sauce.
OMG! If only there was one closer to my house!
The BBQ is to die for!
If you've never been, you must go!! Amazing!!!!!❤️❤️❤️‼️
Food was fair. I have had better and I have had worse. Instead of waiting at your table you wait in line. Kind of a cool way to do the wait. When you get in the long line they give you a menu. After you get to the cashier to place your order, you are escorted to your table. You get your drink, sit down and in 30 sec your food arrives.
Amazing BBQ spot! The ribs were incredible with many different BBQ sauces to try!
We were out of towners and were told by locals that this is the best bbq in St. Louis and it did not disappoint. The ribs were cooked perfectly and passed the bite mark test. So, so good. An absolute must!
The burnt ends were also absolutely amazing.
Hospitality was also another high point.
The owner and staff were so friendly and accommodating.
If this wasn't the best BBQ Beef I've eaten, I don't know what is. If you find yourself in St. Louis, definitely for sure try Pappy's.
Great experience for some St. Louis Q! Pappy's lived up to their reputation! Fried corn on the cob was a standout side!
There's a reason they claim to have the best ribs in the country! And a word to the wise, don't let that turkey sneak past, it's amazing!
The ribs were good but the fried corn and the sauces is what did it for me especially the hoodoo sauce a kick of spicy
Wow! You need to go here! Fabulous ribs, brisket & more, with all the fixin's. Simply the best! Don't leave St. Louis until you've experienced Pappy's!!
Pappy's Smokehouse is the Lord and Savior of Barbeque. Beware of false Christs who charge more for a lower quality experience. This is the one true place of ribs and meat.
The Pappy's experience was extraordinary! Their COVID-19 safety set up was well thought out; having folks stay in their cars to wait to be seated and cash out was superb - the dude had a long stick that had the card reader attached to it 😅.
The ribs were so frickin good, best I have had in a long time! Got the fried corn on the cobb and green beans too which were also very unique and flavor packed! All around an excellent place 👌
The best burnt ends I have ever had. This is the place for BBQ in St Louis for ribs and burnt ends. The burnt ends were super tender and juicy. Super friendly staff. Go here when you are in St. Louis.
The ribs were amazing as advertised. They were without a doubt one of the best ones I've ever had. Food came out super fast too.
Just perfect all around!
Amazing. Go early(ish) to make sure there isn’t anything they have run out of. Get the ribs they are the best and the fried corn. They don’t serve beer where you order food, but do next door where you can go and get a beer to drink in the smokehouse.
We booked Pappy's private party room for our son's rehearsal dinner. We knew the food would be delicious, no doubt. But we were blown away by the service provided by Tina R and her team! I've never worked with anyone so easy going & accommodating - she was helpful with choosing menu items, linens, setting up/testing the sound system, the timing of the event activities, serving food/drinks, clearing all the tables before games, then packaging up all of the remaining food for us to take home. She was absolutely amazing! Our guests loved the food and the event could not have gone better. Thanks Pappy's!
Had the pulled pork sandwich, potato salad and slaw. It was all very good. Crowded so be prepared to wait for lunch or dinner.
Best Ribs, smoked Turkey, and sweet potato fries I've ever had. You won't leave hungry....And the hoodoo sauce.... Spicy Sweet.
Great St Louis BBQ. The burnt ends are the best and I love the baked beans.
Great BBQ experience....the sauces were scrumptious and the meats were cooked perfectly!!
Absolutely delicious. Loved the burnt ends. Very unique flavor overall. Highly recommend if in town.
Some if not the best bbq ive ever had. If you go you have to get rhe ribs!!!! Also suggest the fried corn and sweet potato fries. Always my go to meal at Pappys!
Possibly the best ribs I've ever eaten. I'm going back next time in St Louis. Wow the ribs were so good. My wife is still talking about them a couple of days later. Haha...
Holy smokes!! The reviews are spot on when it comes to the ribs. Melts in your mouth. I'm so glad we came here. Would recommend to all
Legit, the best ribs I've ever had, the fried corn on the cob isn't bad either. Expect a wait...good BBQ is worth the wait though
Food was great so was the staff. Would definitely come again
THE best ribs I've ever had. Potato Salad was great, beans were great. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
i’ll be real. they not beefing with texas at all. the food is so overrated. i’m from texas and i cried eating there. the baked beans are so sweet. they put a TAD bit of barbecue sauce and the rest of that is sugar. the potato salad…….. no. i gagged eating it. i understand why it has so much hype but when you’re from TEXAS it isn’t good whatsoever. that dude from austin lying.
Stopped here for dinner with my husband and his friend (who are both pro bbq'ers) and his wife, and even as bbq snobs, we were extremely happy. The ribs are perfect. Clean bones but not mushy. The best baked beans you will ever have. We ordered the "Adam" bomb and split it between 4 of us. It was plenty of food, and it was all absolutely delicious.
A line that moves quickly and fast table service once your order is made. Great barbecue and sides. Colorful decor.
Wow! One of the best BBQ restaurants I've ever been to! From ordering our food to picking it up! Everything was superb! Great customer service! The portion sizes are perfect! Thanks Pappy's BBQ! If I could give 10 ⭐✨ I would.
Good atmosphere. Good food. Had to check it out for the tradition. Enjoyed testing the different sauces located on the table.
We drove from Norman Oklahoma just to get Pappy's ribs. They are the best ribs we have had. Great service and wonderful food!
Really can't find much wrong with this place, service is quick and consistent with out becoming annoying. The food was on the the more expense side but a full rack of ribs is going to run you $25 almost anywhere you go.
The service was great and the beef brisket was amazing!
Great place and food! Staff was very friendly and received food quick. 5 stars
Excellent ribs and service. I wanted to try so much more but I was full. Guess I'll have to hit it up again next time I'm in St Louis.
How do you describe heaven? Before coming to St. Louis. I knew I needed to do one thing for myself and that was find amazing BBQ. So, I turned to the interwebs, where I was pointed in to this gift from God. I was warned about the line, which was true. The line was extensive, some of my crew was questioning my decision to come here, and I admit I was too at that point. But after the food was ordered we sat down and the food came within five minutes, and the next half hour I hardly said a word. For me it was a religious experience. I ordered the half rack, and to be honest I'm kinda glad I did. If I had ordered the whole rack there is no way I wouldn't have tried shoving it into my mouth. Only go here if you are pursuing pure ecstasy.
Little bit of wait but when we got our drinks food was here. Great ribs NO fat all meat.
Absolutely delicious! Every single thing my husband and I got was perfect
Best BBQ and sides that I've ever had anywhere! I live in TN and anytime I've come through or to St Louis since 2014 I always make sure to stop here to eat. I've brought many friends here, as well as my husband back when we were engaged.
My latest visit was today when I stopped along with two friends who have never been here before (we're on a road trip to Colorado). I had a half rack of ribs, and for the first time got to try the brisket (it was always sold out on previous visits). The ribs are perfectly cooked; the brisket was tender and buttery, and sliced like bacon. I also had the fried corn on the cob (heaven in my mouth!) and the sweet potato fries.
I highly recommend this exceptional restaurant for anyone who loves BBQ.
Pretty good bbq overall, however the pulled pork was a little greasy for my liking.
Best ribs of my life. The founder is there daily and is so friendly. Do yourself a favor and try the burnt ends too.
Food was delicious, it full filled us both. I really enjoyed the baked beans and the crispy parts on the ribs the most.
