The service was fast. Almost too fast. We had not even sat down and they were asking what I wanted to drink. Then once they came with the waters wanted to know what we wanted to eat and I had not even opened the menu yet. It was our first time there so we really wanted to look at all they had to offer ..which is ALOT … finally after 15 minutes of sitting there and 3 times of asking we ordered. We got our food REALLY fast which wasn’t a bad thing, just noting it. Food was pretty good. And the sushi was but two get one free at the time. So if you want almost fast food service then here ya go.

Its a nice place to go and has a lot to choose from! They always start your party off with a little sesame ball each which I love. I would say they lack consistency sometimes but overall I enjoy eating here!

We are so amazed at the Japanese food they offer in Sioux Falls(you know, in Midwest), which is so delicated, authentic and delicious better than many Japanese restaurants in Twin cities area. Also reasonable prices and portions. Definitely will return when we visit Sioux Falls again. The reason we don't give it five stars is that food were served a bit slow and separately.

Surprise- surprise- who would think you could get great sushi/ sashimi in South Dakota? My wife and I took a chance and we were glad we did. Very fresh and done tastefully. Order 2 rolls and sashimi for take out and all were excellent. Wish I lived closer!

Such a great restaurant. Some of the best sushi I’ve had anywhere. Purely Japanese menu. The Yaka Soba noodles were delicious. The delicately sweet, complimentary sesame balls were so good and extras were happily provided.

UPDATE: I came back just to reiterate how awesome this place is. I’ve now been there nearly ten times and it’s always exceptional. Fast service, quality sushi, awesome prices, convenient location (if you are downtown). Awesome sushi joint in the heart of DTSF. I’ve been here many times for sushi, and it’s always good. The service is fast and friendly, and the choices are abundant too. The lunch special is amazing value (3 rolls plus salad plus soup for about $14) so I’ve spent many lunch breaks here. I also love the sesame balls. I’ve never seen them before at other restaurants but I always get a couple extra 😋 I highly recommended Oshima Sushi for anyone in the area looking for quality sushi in the heart of Sioux Falls at amazing prices.

I heard this was the best sushi is Sioux Falls and wow it definitely was up to par! I got there at 8pm on a Friday night and the line was outside the door -- a good sign. I got seated within about 30 minutes and ordered the Elvis roll and the Spicy Rainbow. Both were amazing! Highly recommend this place for some good sushi.

Oshima has some of the best sushi dishes in the Sioux Falls area along with alot of other tasty dishes! If you're a sushi lover it's definitely worth a stop if you're craving some fresh sushi!

Such quick and friendly service. We were seated without wait and we only had to wait a couple minutes to get all of our food to our table. Much better than the other places where you have to wait for 30 minutes to get it. And on top of it all, it was some of the best sushi I had ever had and the sesame balls at the beginning were to die for.

Pros: Seated quickly with attentive and courteous staff. The Sexy Roll was very good. The BBQ ribs were amazing, tender and sizzling, served on a hot plate. The salmon collar appetizer was delicious. Definitely recommend for a date location. Cons: The salad was passable and the Miso soup was a little too concentrated. Finding nearby parking was an issue. The number of different sushi rolls was a little overwhelming. Hands down my favorite Asian spot in downtown Sioix Falls. They greet you with sesame balls. The baked Lobster Roll is my favorite!! The lunch special is the perfect amount of food. I typically get the Salmon Teriyaki. Baked Scallop Roll is good but Baked Lobster Roll is better. Buy 2 get 1 free Sushi rolls M-W except for on national holidays.... so I have sushi for later. When I crave sushi.....I have to drive across the state just to get my fix !

Wow! My wife and I went here for the first time tonight, and we will definitely be going back. We split an appetizer of steamed Gyozu and I had the Las Vegas Roll—both are pictures. My wife had fried rice, which was equally amazing. Good food, good service, good atmosphere, and good value for your money. We will be coming back

My first time at Oshima tonight and everything was excellent! Ended up with a ton of food because of their buy two rolls, get one free special. Everything was fresh, water constantly being refilled, and the staff very friendly. To my surprise they threw in a free dessert of mochi ice cream, which was amazing!

Oh man this place is good! The fish is so fresh; pretty incredible considering it's in the middle of the Midwest. How do they do it?! There are so many options, seriously, I believe anyone can find something they'll like here. I recommend the spicy tuna roll as a simple option, and then the baked lobster roll. So good!

Very nice ambience...we were seated right away and our waitress was very kind and informative and quite speedy with meeting all of our needs. The portions for what you pay are on point and the food taste awesome and was out not to long after we ordered. I look forward to going back soon.

Very attentive service, good sushi, nice interior, reasonable prices. There was a minor problem with rolls. I don’t like rolls with sauces and it’s not mentioned in the menu that some rolls contain sauces. So don’t forget to ask the waiter about it, if you are concerned too.

Hands down some of the best sushi I’ve had. We ordered 4 rolls and they had a buy 2 get 1 free, so we ended up with 6 rolls! All delicious and beautifully crafted. We also ordered a sushi boat which came out perfect and fresh! Overall 10/10, would recommend and come back!

Probably one of my favorite places in Sioux Falls to get your sushi and ramen fix. I've consistently had great sushi here, where the rice and fish are well balanced and neither seem overused or underused like some places in town. The great thing about this location though is that they have ramen on the menu, which is a hard to find item in Sioux Falls as of writing this. It's not your rich heavy style ramen, but a lighter broth with well cooked meat and your standard ramen egg. Come here, definitely try the ramen, and get a roll of sushi on the side with the combo meal if your hungry! The great thing is they have great hospitality and you often get a little treat for the table extra. This place also does carry out perfectly, and will always get my to-go orders.

Nice lighting and atmosphere. Beef udon, short ribs, gyoza, and boba milk teas are all delectable. They give you a sesame ball filled with what I think is red bean as an appetizer and it's warm and delicious. Overall, the food was good and the service was alright. I will be coming back when I am the mood for some good Japanese food thats not sushi.

This was our first time trying sushi. This was a bomb experience. We got the California and Spicy tuna rolls which were super good. We also got the Godzilla and volcano rolls which were a very Americanized deep fried rolls that were literally some of the best tasting things I’ve had in my mouth. It is a very small place, but they know their stuff!

My family LOVES Oshima. We don't eat here regularly but when we do, they always serve to perfection. We especially love their lunch special since you can feed a family of 3 for under $25! Great experience overall!

Great selection, quality and service! I had a party of 8 - and was able to make a reservation. This included two 83+ year old Grannies that had never had sushi, but was up for the new experience. Food quality was excellent and the staff provided great service with a smile. They do have outdoor seating - which is a great option for this downtown eatery. The parking garage a few doors down has free parking after 5 PM. I look forward to going back.

This is my favorite sushi place in Sioux Falls. They have such a wide variety of rolls and some great lunch specials and a weekday roll special. The classics are done nicely, but where they especially shine for me is in their specialty rolls. I particularly love the Las Vegas roll - a tempura-battered fried roll with crab and cream cheese inside, and fried lotus root on top, with two delicious sauces. Presentation is always great and service is very nice.

Kind and attentive service throughout your entire meal! They are clearly eager to please their customers at this restaurant and put care and attention in their food and presentation. I was so pleased with the whole experience here. I especially recommend the Spider Roll and the Jalapeno Poppers. We topped it off with sake which was excellent! My only disappointment is the booths which don't have true separation in the back, so you can feel every movement of the person sitting behind you like on an airplane. The good news is that the food will keep you sitting forward!

Often they will bring us complementary starters/appetizers. My daughter and I went for a late lunch and had the seaweed salad, edamame, and three plates of sushi rolls...Thought we'd have leftovers, but no, we ate EVERYTHING. It was delicious! So fresh, the sauces were just the right spicy, everything tasted so great. Service is friendly and prompt too, would highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic, fresh, delicious sushi. Not a terrible location either. We parked in the metered parking at the Diner and walked over. Will definitely go again...and again...and again!

This is my absolute favorite place to get sushi in Sioux Falls. The food is always prepared very well and always tastes fresh. Unfortunately, some of my favorites (sea urchin) are impossible to get fresh around here, so it's not an option. Depending on the time you go, there might not be any tables available, but it's worth the wait.

Prompt service and great attention to detail. Quick with the takeout. 15 minute parking spot right outside the front door makes it easy to order online and jump in and pick up during the day. I went here yesterday and was amazed with the sushi and their "buy two get one free roll" deal monday-thursday. The sushi is quality and flavorful and affordable. However, today I went back but decided to order online for a pick up. I basically ordered the same thing as yesterday with the exception of one sushi roll being different. Upon arrival I am told that the deal only applies if I order by calling or ordering in person. Nowhere did it say I had to order in person or by calling, when I asked one of the waitresses if she was the manager she hesitated and looked uncertain as she claimed that she was the manager. I'm assuming she wasn't the manager in case you didn't catch that, but basically I told her it wasn't included in the website and she only offered a 10% discount. Which was only 3 dollars of the 33 that I ended up spending for 3 sushi rolls. So in result, 4-stars.

My new favorite sushi restaurant in Sioux Falls. I used to primarily go to Sushi Masa but it's so small and dark inside. I have been to Oshima twice now and will definitely be going back. I get a few plain sushi rolls and a beer when I go out for sushi usually; sometimes I get a bottle of saki and they have a great selection! I really appreciated how COVID safe they are. By far the best restaurant we have ordered from during this time. They have a plexiglass seperation, no contact pay and easy pick up orders. They do not allow patrons into the restaurant and all of the staff wear masks. Highly recommend them!

Really good place downtown, they made special vegan sushi rolls for my friend and I upon request and they were amazing!!!!!!! Much better options than all the other floppy fish and burnt burger restaurants you have to choose from (hey guys guess where you’re meat is coming from, well you don’t have to guess you can literally just smell the air thanks to the local meat processing plant located very close nearby and it’s the beautiful scent of millions of animals being slaughtered so YOU can enjoy a floppy dead porkchop for an hour) So anyway definitely go to this place, the staff was so friendly and happy and helpful

This is our favorite sushi place in town! I knocked a star off because the service tends to be a little slow, but it is worth it! I would suggest going over lunch during the work week. They have great lunch specials and deals on rolls over the lunch hours. They do not, however, offer them on Friday. During the summer they have an outdoor patio. Give it a shot!

So i have tried sushi in some odd places. Its kinda one of those things i like to see how supply lines and location effects quality. Oshima is a rare example of a good supply line linked with passionate chefs preforming at a high standard. Sioux falls south dakota has attracted some very talented individuals. The front of house service was excellent, very accommodating even when I had to add on boba tea to my order a full ten minutes after placing it. It is worth a visit, for sure.

My girlfriend and I are very keen on authentic Japanese, and this is it. It's not the most friendly service, but go during an off hours time (2pm on a Saturday) and we nearly had the place to ourselves. Fish was fresh, and it was interesting trying all the different kinds (Snapper, Salmon, and a couple more I can't remember). Just a warning, your given chopsticks for your meal, so just know how to use them before going. And if you have to, please use a spoon not an American fork..

Been here a few times, do love the food but feels like they could do a better job at customer service and communicate better. One time, we ordered our food and not all came out, we asked about it and the server completely forgot about it. This time we came and asked for a table and the server (they dont have a hostess) said ok and didnt take our name. We waited for about 10 mins and i asked again and this time to a manager and she told us that its full as they have a few tables already reserved. I would have appreciated if the server i spoke to originally would have let us know that so we can make a decision to continue waiting or go somewhere else. If i didnt ask about the table the second time, my party and i would have just stood there longer like idiots. Matter worse, i said we are willing to wait since we already there a while by now, and they kept looking at us saying that its full. I had to tell them again, that we are willing to wait, how long after before a table is ready. Its really frustrating especially we spoke to both in English and Mandarin chinese and they still dont seem to comprehend

Food: 4.5/5 The food was mostly fresh and all very tasty. The raw sushi was all fresh, but the grilled salmon smelled a little fishy (in that it smelled like fish that's getting older). Service: 4.9/5 They were a little slow on meeting us at the door and don't seem to have a good arrangement for that sort of a thing, but once we were seated, they made sure we had everything we wanted. I don't know if this is common practice for Japanese restaurants, but they also gave us a free dish of ice cream after our meal. Price: 3.5/5 The price was ok. They could have made the maki rolls a little bit fatter--they were about an inch and a half in diameter and my first experience of maki rolls had them about 2 inches in diameter, but they charged about the same price as the other place. Overall, I would go there again. It's close to the airport and the center of town, so it's a convenient location, plus I know the fish is fresh there, which is a big deal for me.

My wife and I really enjoyed our first trip since the switch from Tokyo to Oshima. We had the Aloha and Crazy Monkey rolls. Both were very good. The Aloha was a little spicy for my taste. The crazy monkey really stood out for it's beautiful presentation and fun texture. The seafood ramen also stood out with beautiful presentation but faltered somewhat on flavor. It was just a little more bland than I was expecting. I will definitely check out the Udon next time. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves.
