Reviews of Josiah’s Coffeehouse & Café

Make sure you get here by 10am on Sunday or be prepared to stand in line! The food came out pretty fast after we ordered but we stood in line around 30 minutes. The atmosphere is nice but very loud if you have someone with you that’s hard of hearing. Also, dogs are welcome so if you’re allergic to pets, better go elsewhere. Great local place - highly recommend!
Kyle Post
Great downtown stop for coffee or lunch! Clean restaurant with lots of seating areas! Dogs are welcome if leashed. The brisket and chipotle panini with side salad was excellent! The cinnamon roll was average at best; hardly any frosting on it. Nice, open atmosphere with lots of natural lighting from the many windows. Central fireplace. Great service! Staff were all very friendly and welcoming to customers!

Owner is a genius. You walk in, you go to the counter, you order food, they give you a flag, you grab your own silverware, and you seat yourself. Food is mid to high price-wise, but very very delicious! I was extremely impressed with this place. It was packed, but with professional sit seemed so there wasn't a ton of noise. Highly recommend!

I placed a special order for a Key Lime Pie. My order was a little late as the baker had left for the day. After a call was made to the baker, my order was placed and ready the next day. We enjoyed two slices of pie on our 20th Wedding Anniversary. And 6 more slices to take home!

Skip the boring continental breakfast at your hotel and come here! This place is also pet friendly (have to be on a leash). The food is so good!! If I’m ever back in the area I’ll definitely come back here.
Pulkit Kashyap
Really cool brunch place. Variety of dishes on the menu is amazing. I ended up having a Chai tea cake and French toast. Both the dishes were delicious. The cake was a bit dry but that made the cake much more delicious.

On our road trip we were looking for a place to stop for breakfast. We found those amazing place just off our route. It was a little busy and we figured it was a good sign. Ordering was easy and they answered every question we had politely. Having never been there we had plenty. Once we ordered and found a table we had a short wait for our food to arrive. Everyone loved the food. It was so good we originally planned on returning on our way back. I got the Eggs Benedict with salmon and I still think about it. Amazing flavor. The coffee was also exceptional. Most flavored coffee is bitter without some creamer but theirs was very smooth and delicious. This place is also animal friendly as long as they are leashed. We noticed multiple dogs around us and it made it seem more like home to us.
Gary Lippman
Very friendly order takers and cashiers . Food was amazing fresh and hot . I had the Salmon Omelette and my friend had the meat lovers omelette
Joshua Harris
Enjoyed it here! Food was pretty good but not over the top. Seems like it’s always busy but the line went pretty fast.
The Flippin' Fox
The food here is very good. On this trip I had the Ham and cheese omelet with pancakes and a brown sugar cinnamon latte. It is a counter-order and seat-yourself system.
Patty Storevik
Great place! Love that it is pet friendly. Biscuits and gravy are spicy and delicious! Corned beef hash was delectable! Coffee is the best that I've found in a while. There was a line to order and then had a slight wait to find a table but the queue moved quickly. Will definitely return.
Ryan
Someplace that one would consider "a hole in the wall restaurant". Phenomenal food. I learned that food is better than sex after visiting here.
Todd Azinger
Just had coffee today for an informal meeting. Nice place to meet with friends over coffee and cinnamon rolls or other pastries. And more if desired. Friendly service and clean. Works for all your breakfast and lunch needs
Marissa Sip
Josiah's is a wonderful place. Great food, customer service, atmosphere and coffee. We've gone twice when through the area a definitely worth getting off interstate to go to when traveling through. We've had there caramel roll (best I've had),omelet with sour dough toast and americano and were all delicious!
mary Hanson
What a super place for meals, beverages and relaxing. We enjoyed breakfast there; coffee, meals at our table were served hot, ample and delicious. The pastries and muffins are delicious. The staff are very courteous and prompt. Varied menu and reasonable prices.
Echo Tango
10/10. Delicious food, even better bakery sweets. The best latte in town. I can't recommend this place enough. It's packed at the weekend breakfast times which tells me there a lot of people who agree. I tell everyone who hasn't been here yet to check it out. My mom liked it, and she's picky!
Hazel Kay Victorious
Loving this local restaurant. Very prices but I love the atmosphere.

Found Josiah’s while in town for the PBR Velocity Finals. Was searching for a good coffee shop and breakfast spot. What a great find and the reviews are right. Worth a stop if you are in town.
Coffee is excellent and breakfast options and quality were wonderful. They open early and service was very good.
Restaurant main entrance is not accessible, but just east of the main door is another door that is.
We’ll be back next time we’re in town!
Zachary Diggins
Excellent establishment. Finally ordered something to eat (brisket sandwich) friggin killer and the young server Josh was very competent and helpful to his fellow employees. Very good people and atmosphere there. !
Sara Line Frisk
What a lovely find in the cute little town of Sioux Falls! We stopped for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was bright, eclectic and very cozy! There are a variety of things to choose from. Make sure you are ready with your order as you contemplate the menu while you wait in line. You place and pay for your order and the staff then brings it to you. We ordered coffee, English Muffin with bacon, egg and cheese, as well as French Toast with fresh fruit. The bread was freshly baked and everything was so fresh and delicious. I have now been back twice to Josiah’s in two separate road trips. This will be my new favorite breakfast place every time I visit Sioux Falls, although they also serve lunch so I may have to try it out for lunch as well. For those on the go there is also fresh baked goods and breads.
Michelle Griep
Hankering for a huge plate of delicious breakfast? Skedaddle over to Josiah’s! The service was incredibly fast for my bacon, Gouda and carmelized onion omelette. They didn’t have gluten free bread but offered to give me more fruit instead, which was nice. Plenty of seating. Great place for the family.
GT Stepp
Wonderful breakfast on a Saturday morning. Everything was super fresh. Also had the homemade blueberry pop tart that didn't make the picture because it was so good, it was gone before I could snap a photo.
Jess
First time customer. The onion, bacon, and gouda omelet was fantastic. It also comes with toast and fruit. SO MUCH FOOD!!
Purchased a pop tart to-go as so many people recommended it. Delish.
Iced Caramel Macchiato was fabulous too (Is it strange I think the iced coffee drinks should automatically come with a straw and lid? I've never had to seek them out anywhere before. Maybe plastic conscious? -- Go by the silverware if you want them).
Spacious location. Quality ingredients. Loved the atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
Crystal Buffington
We stopped in Sioux Falls on our way to family in Wisconsin. On a whim, we decided to check out a local coffee shop. This place is wonderful! The staff are super helpful and friendly. As one who has celiac disease I need special places, and this fits the bill. Steve helped me navigate the menu, and the kitchen to be sure my meal was safe. The food is heavy portioned, leftovers for the road, and great tasting. My two daughters loved their meals. Must see when in the area.
Julia Claire Rivard Wessel
Beautiful place, wonderful food, outdoor seating area. Also allows your pup if it's on a leash. Super great to see the cute doggos, but maybe not a good choice if you're allergic. Steak salad was fantastic!
Kathryn Tuggle
Great place for coffee, meetings, or doing a couple hours of work. I was very impressed with the friendly staff who really seem to care about each cup of coffee they make, and who keep up a friendly banter with regular customers. On one visit, I saw a book club gathering, a huddle of yoga teachers and state representatives, families and colleagues enjoying lunch together, and kids eating cinnamon rolls. It seems all of Sioux Falls gathers here. They also have gluten-free bread that is delicious!
Josh Gravholt
Fantastic Eggs Benedict. Everybody absolutely loved their pancakes too. Overall really excellent. Great pastry selection.
Foodie Lou
We stopped here during our trip through South Dakota because of the great reviews. I had the Ruben sandwich which was excellent I would highly recommend it. My dinner partner had the Chicken Prosciutto Panini, it was also good but the prosciutto which is usually served in thin slices and stacked so thick she couldn't bite through it. We took half of her sandwich home when I rebuilt it using 1/2 the amount of prosciutto it was much better. We both got chips with our sandwiches, the crunch was really good the seasoning let's just say was strong, lots of pepper and salt. We would definitely stop in again.
TheFire andEarth
Awesome service and great feel. The coffee was tasty and the pasties and cakes are baked fresh. I had carrot came and it was amazing. Its dog friendly (if they are on a leash) and they sell some really cute pet items. They also have honeys, ciders, soaps and neat trinkets.
Staci's Scribbles
When you can't decide what to order, make it three. Bacon grilled cheese with guacamole, lime/vanilla Italian soda and a hot mocha. I had been camping for a dew days and was sp glad to have real food. Little on the pricey side, but super tasty. Open cafe to sit and chat, work, and enjoy a piece of deliciously crusted apple/berry pie.
Christi Koch
Such an awesome local find in Sioux Falls, S.D.. They allow dogs which was awesome as we were traveling with our two pups. The food was really good, fresh eggs, pastries, sandwiches. We also purchased some homemade pop tarts to go. Well worth the stop if you're in the area.
Rachel Iverson
When we travel my husband and I make a point of eating out all the bakeries in town, or as many as we can fit in. This was by far my favorite coffee shop/bakery in Sioux Falls. They had a great selection of breakfast and the coffee was really good. The staff was friendly and there are fresh flowers on the tables. There is also a patio you can at sit outside with little fire pits that are lit in the morning all the way through night. Probably a little more expensive then stopping at a Starbucks, but you’re paying for the charm and the unique cuisine!
SD_Me
Tried the new location for Josiah’s the other day with my daughter and my two pugs. The atmosphere was fresh and open, light and airy. Really cute inside and the coffee is still yummy smooth! It was nice and cool in there for my doggos too!
C Knoblock
Very delicious food and coffee. The atmospheres is great as well. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Lillian Chiou
2/5 for food - got the steak and eggs. Steak was not that great and dry (I asked for medium rare), hash browns were soggy, and my over medium egg was not over medium. Overall pretty tasteless and below average. My boyfriend got the bisuits and gravy and he said it was dry and had just a smear of gravy.
3/5 only because they are dog friendly
Kyle Lobien
Awesome breakfast menu. Food was incredible and portions were very generous. I will definitely be back again!
Chrissey Wieseler
First time going and such good service. Food was yummy also. I got the Southwest omelette and upgraded to the Breadico raisin toast which was so worth it!
Erika Comdohr
This isn't just a regular coffee shop. It is so much more with all the food and pastries they offer including cinnamon rolls, homemade pop tarts, gourmet cupcakes. Large menu of all day breakfast items as well as lunch options. The dirty pumpkin chai that was offered to me by the batista was so good. And Josiah's breakfast pizza .. yum!! Lots of seating options such as tables, booths, as well as outdoor seating.
Henry Cummings
Great food. Had biscuits & gravy and a side of bacon. Unfortunately, I asked for the bacon extra crispy, and it didn't come anywhere close to that. But if that's the worst thing that happens to me, I have a good life. Super nice staff also. Would not hesitate to come here again, and recommend it to friends.
Darren Wacker
The greatest compliment I can provide Josiah's is I just wanted to sit here all day and eat. The home baked bread was delicious. My sandwich was outstanding. I hope to be back soon and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Sioux Falls area.
Alyssa Womble
First time being here, service was absolutely amazing, coffee was realllyyy good. The food had amazing flavor and I loved it only down fall is my eggs and biscuits and gravy weren't even room temperature, super cold.
Other then that I definitely recommend
Hadessah Allove
Friendly staff!
Amazing atmosphere. My only hesitation to coming back was for a small coffee drink it was $5.05 which is a little pricey in my opinion.
But leashed dogs are welcome!!!
Caitlin Zatroch
We love Josiah’s! It’s always fairly busy, but we have always been able to find a table. I also love that we can bring our (good, calm, leashed) dog inside. Dog-averse folks - please note that before you go. There are always 2-4+ dogs inside when we eat there. The food is excellent. My one complaint is that eggs that are meant to be runny are often a little harder than I expect them to be. My last eggs Benedict didn’t run at all. A good mix of locals, travelers, and students working on their laptops.
Trevor Rodgers
An enjoyable place to sit and grab a small meal. The coffee is decent but there are better cafes in town for sure. The flatbread I got was pretty good and the service was friendly.
Sarah Morel
Wonderful atmosphere! You can even bring your leashed dogs. Serves breakfast and lunch all day. Many baked items for your sweet tooth. I had the Reuben which was tasty. My fiance had the Cuban which lacked flavor. We were too full to try what we came there for- the Italian Cream Cake. Next time for sure!
Luba S
The brunch and lunch menu is awesome. Both items we ordered: a platter with steak, eggs, hash browns and a wrap were wonderfully tasty.
It was a rush hour, we stopped by around 11.30am on Sunday, and the line was long. I’m glad we waited. Thank you!
DUSTIN TREWATHA
If your local or just passing through, Josiah's is a must! Best Dog friendly Cafe around
Kaitlyn Iliff
We stopped by this place on a Sunday-many other options are closed on Sunday’s.
The flat bread is amazing! As well as the environment-it’s a super cute spot! There’s lots of seating and window spots.
Random deets:
The gouda grilled cheese has a very small bit of cheese on thick (mostly) bread-I’d order something else like the steak & gouda flatbread which is incredibly good.
The service from one male was great! He had a big smile on, super nice and was quick to clean off tables to make space given a busy day.
We ordered fruit with our meal & when I asked about it the female who worked here didn’t think it’d been on our order but brought some-and one of the slices had a bite in it but the remaining three were bite free!
The matcha latte is bland when ordered with milk and cold if you’re used to matcha being strong I would say to order something else for more flavor or ask for more matcha in your latte.
E Thorp (Medic4765)
Amazing morning coffee, service was super friendly and crazy fast food for how busy they were. We had our coffee less than 5 min after we ordered and our food in less than 10 min. The place was packed with a line to the door this morning. Everyone was so nice and helpfull.
She is Sunshyne
Lovely experience, was told in advance that it would be crowded, but the line didn't deter us and I'm glad we stayed, I enjoyed being able to eat and engage with my conversation without feeling crowded even tho it was packed. Our food was delicious (caramel roll, mocha latte, carmelized onion, bacon gouda omelet & blackened salmon omelet) highly recommend

I visit Sioux Falls once a year in October. Breakfast at Josiah's is a Must Do! This year I ordered French toast and the triple berry smoothie. Delish!
Alex K
Excellent food. Coffee was good. The venue is quite large so even though it was busy we didn't have any issues finding a place to sit. Food is ordered at the counter and they bring it out. Food arrived quickly. The place was quite busy and noisy, the acoustics amplified by high ceilings. Could be a good thing, could be bad, depending on your mood! We will be back whenever we pass through Sioux Falls again!
Joseph Flynn
Great place to eat and hang out in Sioux Falls. Food is unique, good portions, fair price. The decor is phenomenal. I didn't want to leave.
Elizabeth Moore
Super yummy food, staff is wicked friendly. Good spot for brunch with friends or coffee and a book in a busy place. Vibe is open and fresh. Shout out to Miss Joelle, always a big smile and friendly conversation!
Jay Lutt
It was recommended to have Josiah's and they were right. An absolutely amazing breakfast!!! I can't wait to go back!
Doug Bunting
If I lived in Sioux falls I would be here 4 to 5 days per week. Awesone spot! Great food and atmosphere
Elisabeth Arendt
Great environment and helpful staff. I got an eggnog latte and an English muffin. The latte was delicious!
Louis-Jan Pilaz
I love this place. A lot of rough sawn and reclaimed wood gives it a warm, cozy and rustic atmosphere. I love that dogs are allowed too. I always have eggs Benedict there. They are delicious!
Jani Little
GREAT COFFEE SHOP- 5 GALS FROM SW NEBRASKA STOPPED IN FOR BREAKFAST! VERY GOOD!
Juan Rios
Great coffee, amazing food and outstanding company! Great, hipster & local place in Sioux Falls.
As a coffee lover not having coffee refills is a down side (maybe something to consider team Josiah’s) still love the place.
Hannah Schmit
Go here for the caramel and lavender latte, so good! For food, highly recommend the fruit flavored pop tarts. If you do get the omelette, ask if there is salsa on it or cheese. We got salsa on ours and we didn’t know the sausage and avocado came with salsa and no cheese so just be sure to ask if you do or don’t want those things on it. The atmosphere in the shop is amazing!
CHARNE WALTERS
This is a true Coffee shop and I love it so much! Everything is fresh!! Pastries made from scratch! Good coffee! Amazing atmosphere!
So far we have tried the salmon eggs Benedict, soups, waffles, pancakes, beef brisket and hashbrowns and eggs...we have been very happy 😁.
A little on the expensive side but totally worth it! I'd pay for quality over quantity any day.
Brittany Sibenaller
Needed a place to go for breakfast after spending the night in town, so googled some places and we found this one. So glad we chose to go here! It says lighter fare breakfast food but even if it is light it is super filling! My fiance and I both got omlette which came with toast and fresh watermelon. The omlettes were large and fresh and service was fast and very friendly! The atmosphere is nice and modern and they have a nice patio where they allow pups! Also the coffee was just fantastic.
Chris Trefz
This place is hard to find a seat in for good reason. The Carmel rolls are my favorite but you can't really go wrong biscuits and gravy either. Do what I do and just get both.
Jeffrey Pay
Staff always friendly. Food good. A bit noisy due to concrete floor and very open area. Join the rewards program. Dogs allowed. They raised prices after kitchen remodeling.
Alex Marks
Great place! Coffee is delicious. Loved the biscuits and gravy platter, but for $15 I felt shorted on the gravy. Needed at 25% more than was provided. Bacon was nice and crispy.
Eli McClendon
Amazing cafe with fantastic food. Very efficient line and table systems even during lunch rushes
Damon Farah
Great service, ordered the Eggs Benedict with salmon. Eggs and salmon were over done, the hollandaise wasn't great and was starting to separate.
Devan
Had the blackened salmon omelet. Very delicious and filling. The fresh fruit was a nice touch.
Adam Huber
I absolutely love coming here. I work from home and I come to Josiahs once or twice a week to eat a delicious breakfast, and have some great coffee.
The real reason for coming however is the amazing people that work, and frequent, there. The girls behind the registers are always very friendly and make you feel welcomed.
The people who come there to also work, and have meetings are fellow business owners and so we always have amazing talks.
Highly recommended by me always.
Stephanie Curtis
I hadn't had corned beef hash like this. It was fresh and I really enjoyed it. The iced Chai was good too. Nice atmosphere as well.
Natalie M.
I would give 3.5 stars out of 5. I have been to
Josiah’s many times and have had numerous tasty meals, for instance the omelette I had today was amazing! I also always appreciate the fresh fruit. But I’ve also had a decent amount of very mediocre ones, mostly due to the meal being nothing spectacular, yet very pricey in my opinion. If the prices weren’t so steep, I wouldn’t mind a mediocre meal. Besides, Josiah’s has a large menu, with coffee, baked goods, and many meal options. It’s hard to do everything well when you’re trying to do so many things. But when you compare the prices to MB Hassket’s for instance, which are similar, its hard to choose Josiah’s when MB always has creative and incredibly fresh meal options, making the prices incredibly justifiable there every single time.
One thing I really want for Josiah’s to do is start making and selling homemade jam, instead of the little jam packets you get at a cafeteria. Those are very disappointing, and I know many who agree. Fresh jam, especially considering the prices customers are paying, will go a long way! Please seriously consider this!
Josiah’s, you really do have a good thing going, and obviously you’re doing many things right. I think some small improvements regarding quality will go a long way, making a good restaurant a great one.
Laura Ann Holland
Awesome experience and delicious breakfast/brunch spot. The pancakes are delicious! Favorite part was enjoying all of the on leash dog friends inside.
Lily Hedges
Great Cafe, affordable food with great flavor. I had the Prosciutto Chicken Sandwich, and my boyfriend had the Turkey Provolone. Both were awesome Sandwiches, and we raved about the Pesto Mayo all morning. It's definitely a new stop for our lunches when we're in town now.
Emily Lord
Great atmosphere, amazing menu, smooth system. The food was delicious! I can't wait to go back! There is a long line to wait in to order at the counter, but it moved at a decent pace. The menus available in the line helps everyone be ready to order when it's their turn. Parking can be slim downtown, but the parking garage across the street is free on weekends.
Frank Tarquini Jr
Coffee was great. Place was hopping. It is a counter order delivered to your seating. Booths and long tables. Staff friendly and sharp. Had egg Benedict with salmon that was pan sauteed. The eggs were poached but slightly overcooked. Also shared a fantastic caramel breakfast roll.
Matt Woll
Excellent coffee. Breakfast pizza and pop tart were amazing! Perfect amount of jalepeno in the pizza. Ambience and decor of place is classy.
Victoria Rakus
Josiah's has not only great food and the best coffee in Sioux Falls, but also caring and helpful staff. I work downtown, and one of my colleagues hurt her ankle today. I went to get lunch at Josiah's and explained that I wanted to bring ice back for my colleague. They gave me a sizable bag and let me have as much ice as I needed. It was a small gesture, but they were under no obligation to help. I was not surprised given my previous positive interactions with the staff. Their kindness and willingness to help really demonstrates the quality of the staff at Josiah's.
Will Fox
Great spot in downtown Sioux Falls. Feels like it should be in LA, but the prices are still South Dakota. Highly recommend.
Vincent Campbell
Amazing little spot! I go to a Bible study here. Lots of fun breakfast options and tasty coffee. I would recommend the Josiah's flatbread! It's a little breakfast pizza and it is SO good.
M Ferguson
Amazing food, adorable location, dog friendly, great service. Wish we had a place like this at home!
Vesna Selimovic
Amazing urban atmosphere. Great selection of coffee, pastries, light sandwiches and more. Definitely in my Top 5 places in Sioux Falls. Friendly and helpful staff.
Jennifer Vickers
A must stop breakfast spot! The breakfast pizza and bacon, gruyere cheese is amazing. Great service! Be prepared to stand in line but well worth it.
Michelle Maloney
Once again, great coffee, great food and a fun atmosphere. Leashed pets are welcome inside and out, FYI. There’s not much shade for outdoor dining, so get there early if you want to sit outside.
Ean Grubb
Wish there was a 4.75. Great location and atmosphere. Portion was a little smaller than I would have liked for the avocado with my eggs and bacon. My fault for not specifying quantity though. Big boys gotta eat…even when it’s healthier food, ha. Otherwise, cool place. Wish we had one in Des Moines, IA
Inge Roettcher
I absolutely love love love this place! I live in Omaha and come to Sioux Falls once or twice a month. I love the fact that it's dog friendly and plan on bringing my dog here soon. The food is wonderful, the staff is great! You have a customer for life!
Ryan Waters
Good food, friendly atmosphere/service and available parking - makes for a great coffee shop! Maybe the best french toast in town.
Audra Pierce
This cafe has a huge food menu and all your espresso standards. Kind of pricey but they use quality ingredients.
Bernadette Merrill
This is the type of restaurant where you walk up place your order and they deliver it to your table. They have a great selection of food and it taste good too.
Amy Dekker
Great food and atmosphere! Came on a recommendation and I’m glad we did. I got their caramel macchiato and their Eggs Benedict. Loved both! My husband got their brisket chipotle panini which he said was good, but wished he had gotten mine.
TopDeadCenter
Josiah's is a standout among Sioux Falls restaurants. It's a well thought-out combination of familiar and unique elements that offers something for everyone in your family, from your grandparents to your dog.
This is easily the most dog friendly restaurant in Sioux Falls. Dogs aren't just tolerated, they're actually welcomed at Josiah's.
Menu - 4 out 5 stars
At first glance, the menu may not seem very creative. There's several unique dishes in there, but overall the menu has a very midwestern cafe feel to it. You can still get your avocado toast, but the menu is organized in a way that makes your parents comfortable ordering the first time they visit. This is intentional, and it's a very smart approach for a meat and potatoes community like Sioux Falls, SD.
Coffee - N/A
I'm not a coffee drinker, so I can't review that aspect.
Bakery - 6 out of 5 stars
Josiah's doesn't hold back their creativity with their baked goods. They don't have to worry about intimidating or confusing customers here, because even if a customer doesn't know what the heck "barquettes de fraises des bois" are, they can plainly see the "little strawberry pie thingys" that look delicious. While many items are available year round, they seem to rotate some items in and out at the baker's discretion. I highly recommend the carmel rolls, and their homemade pop tarts are made with a flaky pie crust.
Nova Denton-Parry
I didn't have coffee, but the Lavender Rooibos tea and Bacon Eggs Benedict were absolutely wonderful. Lovely atmosphere in a beautiful building with lots of sun. Staff was friendly, and food was out quickly.
Katelyn E
Josiah's is a great place to stop by for breakfast or a coffee meeting right in the morning. I am excited that they will be remodeling to help to flow of traffic in their restaurant. I do believe however that their service is a little slow when waiting for just a coffee.
Beth
This is a cute little place with lots of space for groups. I got the corn beef hash platter that came with fried eggs. It was very good. By far, the best part of my meal was the bakery items. The toasted raisin bread definitely gets better with a touch of butter. I also got the toasted coconut and honey muffin. This is a hidden gem with the crunchiness from the chopped coconut and slight sweetness from the honey. This is a wonderful place for breakfast. I will definitely be back.
Della Whitcomb
Always great food! Had the Eggs Benedict/ salmon and fresh fruit 😋 Excellent! Nice presentation and so good. Always great coffee ☕️ to enjoy!
Molly D
The food is always fantastic and the atmosphere is great. The only downfall with this visit was the apple pie. It looked like it was going to be so chock full of apples and delicious but when they gave us the piece the height shrunk to a 1/3 of what it was in the case.
Ryan M
Great coffee and a cool place. The fireplace is also a nice touch especially on a crisp morning like this.
Rachel D
First time here. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Food was pretty good. I would say the portions were small for the price we paid (side of fruit with sandwich included 3 squares of pineapple and 2 halved strawberries). $30 lunch for 2 and we both had water..
Melinda Sousa
No vegan options at all!! Hubby's bacon was raw on his plate.
Amber Everson
Best coffee spot and breakfast nook in Sioux Falls! The flatbreads are to die for as well as all the menu.
Alison Murphy
My boyfriend, our toddler, and I are visiting for the weekend and we ate Josiah’s our first morning here. We plan on getting breakfast here every morning. Haven’t even bothered looking at other places. Everything we’ve ate and drank is excellent. Food and drink comes out quickly considering how busy the place is. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast here was seriously my favorite part of this trip.
Jason Currie-Olson (Faithful Wanderer)
This is a really cool place. Good coffee. Great space. Comfy and open. A great place to grab a cup of coffee or a bite to eat and sit for a bit.
nissen Grace
We were recommended by a friend to try this place out. Absolutely amazing. Fast service, great coffee, and amazing omlet. We will be visiting every time we come through!

Best omelette within living memory. Try the three egg omelette with caramelized onions, crispy bacon pieces and Gouda cheese. Simply the best combination of ingredients for an omelette...hot and freshly prepared. 10 outta 10! Rare...

Great place and great people! Visiting Sioux Falls from Ohio and stopped into Josiah's for breakfast. The food was great so we made it our breakfast place every day during our stay. Don't miss visiting this place.
J S
My husband and I love this place! The interior is really cool. I will say, expect to spend a pretty penny as it’s decently expensive. But their food is absolutely delicious. The French toast and blueberry scones are my favorite. My husband usually gets the create your own breakfast platter and it’s a decent size. Would highly recommend checking this place out, at least once.
Katie O'hara
Food was pretty good, but the cheesecake was the best I've ever had.
Nice location, just off the main street. Nice outdoor seating. Large indoor seating area. Very pleasant.
Gary Messerli
Interesting decor. They let dogs on a leash in if you don't mind dining around other people's dogs. I had a wrap. Didn't like it. For $9 they basically put deli chicken in a wrap. Didn't even heat it up. If I go back I would definitely try something else. Perhaps off the All-day breakfast menu. Overall there are better places to eat downtown.
Mikayla Behrends
Absolutely the best place to eat! I've had a few different things and its always so amazing and delicious! Better than grandmas cooking (and thats hard to beat!) Pancakes are fluffy, salads are huge and amazing! Flat bread pizza is delicious! Biscuits and gravy will never be the same anywhere else because Josiahs is just so amazing! 1000% would recommend!!!
Susan
The best cafe in Sioux Falls, hands down!! Beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food, treats, and coffee drinks. I love spending time here.
Brett Fricke
I have never really been downtown at a time that allowed me to go to Josiah's and I didn't think anything of it, until I actually got to go. There is so much space and plenty of seating. I was surprised to know there was a full menu and a great selection of drinks. I ended up with a delicious coffee, a great slice of cheesecake. The food/drinks weren't priced out of this world and the atmosphere will definitely bring me back.
P.S.- Allowing dogs is a classy move and I appreciate it!
Michael Marks
Good food, good coffee, nice ambiance and warm atmosphere.
Jessica Gaffney
Oh my gosh this place is amazing! The food is delicious, the atmosphere has a downtown Joanna Gaines modern country coffeehouse vibe. The building is large and open and airy but still maintains a cozy feel to it with beautiful windows letting in the light and sever different seating areas for dining on their delectable muffins, omelettes, and coffee. The staff are polite and helpful and really do a wonderful job making this a good dining experience. We are from Nebraska but wewill be back and we will recommend this place to family and friends!
Jason Glaesemann
Josiah's has some great food. I have only tried their breakfast items and have not had the opportunity to try the lunch menu. Everything I have tried has been great. This includes the biscuits and gravy, flat bread breakfast pizza, steak and eggs, and one of the sausage omelets. There might be some others in there but I can't remember. They offer a multitude of options and even an ala carte options which you can adjust for whatever diet you are on. The food is also made fresh.
The service is outstanding. All the employees are helpful and the food comes out relatively quick even though they are usually busy.
It's all around a good experience and highly recommend. Oh, they also let dogs in.
Heather Hansen
Best caramel rolls in town, partnered with great coffee and perfection. Grab a French press, a pastry or some lunch. The food is excellent!
Woe Jilla (WoeJilla)
Great experience here. Indoor/outdoor dining. Clean and friendly staff.
Jenn K
The food is consistently excellent. The staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. It is busy whenever I am there but the processes in place to ensure outstanding customer experience work. I haven’t felt either rushed or that I’ve waited too long - for anything. The manager is hands on and it shows in every aspect of the experience. Truly an outstanding establishment in every way.
Kelli Belli
Josiah's never disappoints! Their Amaretto coffee was delicious! If you aren't sure what to order, the quinoa wrap is filling and tasty, and so are the caramel rolls (though be prepared to take half of that home as they are HUGE).
Brittany O'Fallon
Excellent omelettes and espresso drinks and love that it is dog friendly!
Devin K
This place is great! We were looking for a gluten free place to have breakfast and came upon them. The steak and sweet pepper omelette was great! The coffee is probably some of the best I've honestly had in my life. I can't think of a place that has better. The building and the story behind the restaurant are both very neat. Without a doubt next time we're in Sioux Falls we will be having breakfast there each day!
Caitlin Daly
Great modern rustic atmosphere, accommodating staff, quality roast, TONS of food & drink choices (good kids menu), somewhat pricey but huge portions ($10-$15/meal, $4 pastries, etc.). Best part: dogs of all sizes can hang out inside 😍 Easily the best coffee spot in SF. …
Avictor Burwin
This is a fantastic little place. Delicious food, friendly service. I had the vegan French toast with vegan butter. So good!!! Got the vegan spicy quesadillas for later! Great vegan options! Went back the next day for the bean burger. SO good. And get the green smoothie! Fantastic
Denise
We had to spend the night in Sioux Falls and were looking for a new-to-us place for breakfast. I've gone past Josiah's often, and have seen it very busy, so we gave it a try. Their location near Phillips Ave. is very easy to get to, with a parking garage almost directly across the street from it, that costs $1/hr Mon-Fri. We were there at around 7am on a Thursday, so it was near empty, but I've been downtown on the weekends and the garage fills up quick. There's also on street parking nearby if you need it. They have everything from booths, to large tables then could accommodate many, so I'd say a good place for both large and small groups. Child friendly as well. (Mickey Mouse pancakes, anyone? They got 'em!) BONUS! This place is dog friendly! There just happened to be a big 'ol pupper there when we visited, so that was fun to see.
Their menu is large, including their drink selection, so you have great options. You order and pay at the counter, and they'll bring your food out to you. The have all-day breakfast and lunch, so if you want homemade pop tarts and sausage gravy and biscuits for dinner, or bbq chicken flatbread for breakfast, go for it!
(Side note, their bakery items were crazy tempting. If not for the fact that I'm restricted on what I can eat right now, I would have ordered one of everything...)
I went with the caramelized onion, bacon, and gouda omlette, which came with fresh fruit and toast. The omlette's are HUGE 3-egg omlette's, just a heads up. I was not disappointed. My daughter had a ham and cheese omelette, and my son had a cheese quesadilla with steak. They asked how he liked his steak done, so clearly they cook that up fresh. Nice. He got his with a side of tomato basil soup.
Our order (with coffee for me) came to around $40, which was acceptable for us, and given that none of us could actually finish our meals and took 1/2 of every order home, we basically got 2 meals out of our visit. So I'd say the cost is worth it.
Definitely looking forward to stopping in again next time I'm in the area. There were probably more than a dozen other things I spotted that I'd love to try (...homemade pop tarts, I'm eyeballing you...), so we'll be going back, next chance we get.
Sarah Wincovich
Food was delicious, staff was great as was the atmosphere. Would definitely go back if I find myself in Sioux Falls again.
Paul Fischer
So we went yesterday for lunch and it was so good we went back for breakfast today. Between the two of us on the two trips we tried the biscuits and gravy, the California English muffin, the oatmeal power bowl and the bacon gouda onion omelet. All were winners! The biscuits and gravy had a wonderful balance of savory and just enough spiciness to warm the tongue, which I thought was quite nice, but my "mild salsa is hot enough wife" though was borderline spicy! The omelet was loaded with fixings but none overpowered it and balanced supremely. Her oatmeal was just what she wanted, as well as the California muffin sandwich. We will be back on our next trip out west!
I Merp
It’s just perfect for breakfast/lunch (brunch). Family and your pet! They have the best options for coffee/tea drinks. Love the the ambience of this place.
Coral Dirks
Beautiful cafe in the heart of downtown Sioux Falls. The menu has something substantial for everyone, including vegans. Pastries are tasty. Josiah's serves local ingredients and products, such as Breadico toast. Spacious dining area, easily meeting 6+ ft recommended distance between customers during COVID-19.
Tasha Rhodes
My first time here for lunch today. I got the Cuban and it was fantastic! Fair warning: their stone ground mustard is not for someone with a softer palate. The decor is nice and it's a good location/space. Service is wonderful and the staff was very friendly.
Maureen Matlock
We were looking for a place that made caramel rolls for my brother who is in a care facility. We decided to meet family and have breakfast. The location and space itself are really nice. Unfortunately, they are trying to be a coffee shop with a full service food menu and don’t have a good grasp on running a restaurant. Their prices are expensive but the quality is poor. The avocado toast had a thin layer of avocado spread rather than a thick layer of real avocado like it should and the eggs were overdone. The “panini’ was just toast with egg and cheese and no flavor. We were very disappointed to spend 30 dollars for one cup of coffee, a roll and 2 menu items for such mediocre food. Nice try but keep working on the quality. you have a great space and could have a really good business if you had someone doing food that understood the industry better. Good luck.
Mikayla M.
Everytime I've gone into Josiah's I've left with a smile on my face. I love the atmosphere inside and the staff has always been very kind. It's a great place to host a small event or just enjoy a low-key afternoon. Being dog friendly is a huge plus!
Marc Fez
Pretty good food. Ordering at the counter pretty much sucks. Serving eggs on a cold plate means you're serving cold eggs. A $3.95 English muffin should come with butter.
Deena H
This is my favorite coffee shop in Sioux Falls! Love how warm and cozy it is despite the huge space. Not only do they have delicious coffee but they also have a very extensive breakfast menu and they sell plenty of other little gifts. They really dress it up for Christmas too!
Richard Dunlap
It is a really nice place to go for a meal. The food was great, the coffee was very good. It inside has a great atmosphere and decor. Plenty of seating. It looked like the was a sectioned off part that could be used for a meeting or party. Outside seating for when the weather is nice. The building it's located in is one of the oldest from downtown Sioux Falls though the inside has been updated recently they still managed to keep the vintage charm.
Eric Lowry
I had a Depth Charge my wife had Jasmine tea. Both were wonderful!
Justus Cole
Wow! The coffee and the food was amazing! The coffee was smooth and bold. The flavor of the beef inside my burrito was outstanding. The burrito was topped with a sauce that was sweet, like and apple or pear, but also had a kick from a spicy pepper. So good! When we are back in Sioux Falls we will be stopping here again!
Justin Dziobecki
1st time there really laid back atmosphere. Pancakes were awesome and got a treat to go!
dallas hotz
The cherry Danish was out of this world. Cant wait to go back, very soon
Jason DeMar
Went there this morning after a bike ride with my wife - the bacon, gouda and caramelized onion omelette was perfect - the coffee was delicious and the toast was spectacular! Great service and aesthetic too! This might just become our new Sunday morning routine 🚲🚲☕☕ …
Carrie McDaniel
We were looking for coffee and something light to eat after being at the hospital most of the day. Found Josiah's on Google map search..it was close and fit the bill. It was perfect in every way..food was great, love the atmoshphere, service was pleasant. We had a cup of dark roast coffee and it was the best. The espresso cheesecake was heavenly. Love that you can bring your dog inside 🐶. My only regret is that I don't live in Sioux Falls but I will be back and I am telling friends about your great place.
Mariya Snizhko
Love coming here!! Everything is so delicious and staff are so so friendly!!
Caden Skinner
A very fun urban cafe. We have been a few times. They have a great blackened salmon omelet. My wife loves the homemade syrup in their coffee. The chai tea lattes are also one of my favorites in Sioux Falls. The patio is a little small but the inside has a wonderful atmosphere and asthetic.
Ceara Gondoras
Very impressed, great food and fast! Will be back !
Melissa Prostrollo
I love Josiah's for several reasons. The food and coffees are very good. I have never had bad service there, even when it is very busy, which is often. The thing I appreciate most, though, is the environment. It has a decor style that reminds me so much of coffee houses in Minneapolis that I feel a little less homesick when I visit Josiah's.
Emily Guzman
We ordered the sausage and avocado omelet with a side of strawberries and whole grain toast. It was one of the best omelettes we’ve tasted - so fluffy and buttery with a generous serving of spicy sausage. The strawberries were so sweet, too. Highly recommend!
Jason Barnes
I was in town for three days and ended up here every day I was here. Great atmosphere, quality food, and very friendly staff. The fireplace was a great way to warm up during the record snowfall year. Will definitely be back if I'm ever in Sioux falls again.
armriley
This is one of our favorite places for breakfast. We usually eat here at least once a week. The whole family loves it, including the fur baby. Good keto options, which I love.
Sue Long
I absolutely love this place. I've tried multiple things and can complain about none of them. The wrap was amazing, I believe it was turkey, bacon, avocado. The portions aren't crazy but definitely enough! The granola, with blueberries and bananas with skim milk was very good. The iced vanilla chai latte was also very good! Now that homemade Poptart... OH MY GOOD GOD IT WAS SO GOOD. We had a blueberry one and I won't come into Josiah's without having one. The only downfall is having to pay and find parking since it's downtown. Other than that good food, good drinks, very cute decor, and an amazing vibe. I will be back more than I should be.
Bryan Kouri
Great coffee and food. Large menu.
Beatriz Blom
It is a cute coffee place, I am not going to lie. Their coffee is pretty decent, and in my opinion better than Starbucks. However, if you want a good breakfast, this is not the place. Their food is very blend, plain, and boring. 4 stars for their coffee, muffin, banana bread, but 2 stars for their lunch, wrap, california whatever, gravy and bacon bfast.
Gregory
One of my favorite places to grab breakfast or lunch.
David Becker
Wonderful environment! The 3 egg, carmelized onion, bacon, and Gouda omelette was amazing!
Brett
Really, really excellent food. I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations. If you can only get one item make sure you get the carmel roll.
terry eulberg
Steve and his crew are rockin their new digs with just as much awesomeness as their first home. Just like the first Joshua's a lot of thought was put into the design and decor. The food is totally top notch and you won't go away hungry! Service too is a step ahead of many places. If you haven't experienced this lovely Coffeehouse you are truly missing out.
David Tesch
Good place to get a cup of coffee. They have a variety of homemade breakfast and pastry options. Their caramel rolls are delicious and my favorite. It can get a bit loud, as the building has high ceilings and is quite popular.
Keith Knobloch
We ordered coffee to go in a box as a gift for three different places, but I failed to mention that part when I called in the order. When I showed up, there were three boxes ready, and a full supply of cups, creamer, sugar, stirrers, etc. When I mentioned we were taking these to three different places, they happily split everything up into threes and provided handy bags and carriers for each. It was a fairly busy morning, so was impressed at the effort...better service than I expected. They have a patio for those nice days, and treats for your dog. Oh, and the coffee is great there too...
Jonathan Sax
Josiah's is a must visit for anyone in Sioux Falls. It's an iconic coffee shop that has become part of our culture.
The space open with a whole wall of south facing windows, which lets you enjoy sunshine with your cup of coffee. The only drawback to this design is that the space is that it can get loud. Dogs are also allowed into the Cafe.
The drinks are good, but nothing spectacular. They lose a half a star here because I think they put less flavor into their drinks than most local coffee shops.
The food is delicious. I honestly haven't ordered a dish that hasn't impressed me yet.
Two final notes:
The setup for getting food and drink is weird. Once you order, you have to grab silverware, napkins, drink sleeves... ect. from a small bar set to the side of the counter. It's not a super obvious setup, or even a large enough area to accommodate more than two people. So it's odd to order and then have to stand in another line to get your silverware and creamer.
If you're a midwest native, you might think Josiah's is expansive. I don't think it is. For it's location, menu, and venue, it's priced just right!
itspenniwithani
Not sure what it looked like before the renovations, but Josiah's is a cool place to sit and chat with a good friend. Love the decor!
Cory Thompson
Delightful breakfast experience. Food was excellent. Place your order, take a number stand and go to a table to wait for your food. Very pleasant servers.
Betty Harris
Such an adorable coffee shop! They have an excellent selection of coffees, espresso drinks, and foods. There are plenty of hearty breakfast choices for both the individual looking for eggs or oatmeal. Lots of healthy options - and truly healthy. Plenty of seating and a very relaxed setting. They have some local foods for sale, like cheeses and pastries that would be fun gifts. I could spend hours here!
Chris Davenport
The breakfast food here is so good! I recommend the salmon eggs benedict with the freshly-squeezed orange juice. Also, try the pancakes (blueberry for this guy). They have that awesome skillet flavor, which makes them so tasty.
I don't care for the coffee here, which was disappointing since they're a coffeehouse. It just tasted watered down and wasn't very bold in flavor.
Zhanna Skots
Light fresh atmosphere, very modern and pretty interior, a quintessentially hipster hangout. Food is very good, although the last time we went, the girl at the cash register wasn't very friendly. Every other time we've visited it has been exceptional service and eats.
navi legion
Not terribly impressed with the menu, as far as coffee goes id say coffea is the best locally, it is a nice place to get together with friends for something simple but id probably go to c h patisserie down the block for a tastey dessert. Or bagel boy for something filling locally. Its nice, just not worth it to me to be disappointed spending 5 bucks (or more) on coffee.
Nicholas Eaton
Absolutely love this restaurant. Yes it's a little expensive but the quality of the fresh pastries and coffee is worth it. Good place to go for brunch as well. They have a salmon eggs benedict that is mouth-watering and their buttermilk pancakes are the best in town.
Stephany Hughes
Awesome food and atmosphere. You can tell people love Josiah's because the entire time we were there, the line went to the door.
Candice Baker
Great restaurant! They will accommodate to dietary restrictions. Had the protein bowl that had steel cut oats, flax seeds, chia seeds, banana, and blueberries with almond milk. Yummy 🤤🤤 …
Bram Warrick
The people delivering and retrieving from the tables go about this with the maximum of inconvenience to customers.
Just had one breathe in my face. Forget COVID, cold or flu season. That's just weird.
You didn't need that one bowl that much. Or the spoon.
Phosalae Suriyasak
Solid food. Delicious coffee. Awesome service. What more can you ask for? I love the flatbreads for both breakfast and lunch! The baked goods are killer and what they're known for aside from coffee. Must try spot off the busy main strip of downtown.
Josh H
Excellent, well curated menu. I do think a little pruning would help simplify customer decisions and kitchen prep, but I've had nothing but quality service and quality food here.
The new location is spacious, if a little noisy, and the anesthetic is interesting and pleasing.
Overall, highly recommended.
Darwin Wurtz
Loved my sandwich. Friendly place. Great atmosphere.
Brandon Hess
Not only are the people at Josiah's incredibly friendly and kind but the food is fantastic. Josiah's stands strong as my favorite place in Sioux Falls to grab a coffee, breakfast and far too many slices of coconut cream pie.
One of the best places in town staffed by some of the nicest people I've met since moving back.
Kat Finzen
The food tastes amazing, the drinks are really good, and the aesthetic is super cute! Plus, they allow dogs, which is always a plus!
Kathyn Zubke
Busy so sometimes service was slower or scattered. But fun and still relaxed environment great for lunches, talking with friends, or simply studying. Delicious lunch foods, coffee, tea, and breakfast muffins! Definitely a local favorite 👍 …
Paul Badaracco
came here for brunch on a mid Saturday. place was rather full, good atmosphere. I ordered a bacon and spinach egg bake, a coffee (half medium, half dark roast), and a caramel roll. The egg bake was already made, just needed to be heated: I thought it was ok tasting but nothing exceptional, a bit dry and not particularly flavorful. coffee was good. as for the caramel roll, it was tasty as well, but again, nothing memorable. I feel I need to come back to try something else, maybe something that involves eggs cooked to order to make a more thorough judgment.
One Gear
Awesome...best breakfast ever... Strawberry/Mango muffin with butter...Makes me Happy
Alex Hatzenbuhler
Josiah's is an awesome place to stop for coffee or breakfast! They have a wide range of food, from pastries to french toast. The coffee is delicious. There is a lot of seating, and they have a large patio area. All of the staff were very friendly. I also bought some locally made honey! Highly recommended spot.
John St. Martin
This place is amazing! Josiah's used to be in an odd location and I did not like going there, but I decided to try them again in their new location and it is great. They seem to have become a more full blown restaurant and less of a coffee shop. The atmosphere and atheistic are great too! This is my new favorite place to hang out and meet up with people :-)
Taylor Nilson
Fun atmosphere, seat yourself, fast service. When I have a larger group it can sometimes take over an hour to be seated at Original Pancake House on Saturday or Sunday mornings but because Josiah has an "order at the counter" system it's much faster.
All that being said, the food quality is not as good as Original Pancake House or All Day Cafe. My eggs Benedict weren't poached properly, they were essentially hard boiled with completely cooked powdery yolks. I'll give them another shot and try some other menu options.
Simon Baker
The lunch hour was busy. The food was good, not the service. We had the tuna melt. Bold action to add onion, celery, diced tomatoes and sunflower seeds without stating it on the menu. They claimed that the tomato basil soup was homemade but it was a frozen premade soup. I asked the server for crackers, I got snarled at & she brought a small portion cup of croutons. Asked about a soup spoon, as they were out at the self service counter, she again snarled to get up & get it myself. Then as we were getting up to leave, we left a minimal tip, & got snarled at again.
Maria DeBolt
I usually have wonderful service here. Today was not the greatest. I ordered a espresso macchiato, delicious, delivered to my table in a timely manner. My second order was a french press. I understand how the process is for french press, the gentleman who I ordered it from said it would be 5 to 6 minutes. I waited 12 minutes. I went up to the counter and the lady wasn't apologetic or courteous to me. She acted as though it was my fault. Not impressed by the interaction but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. So I will return because one slightly bad encounter shouldn't deflect from the rest of the good experiences. 1/8/20 10:30 am

Busy place, but good food!
Elizabeth Redwing
Our food was excellent, the service was exceptional. The atmosphere was chic yet comfortable. The pastries were devine, you must try the pop tarts. We're leaving with full tummies and uplifted spirits. Thanks for the good time!
Brian Stormo
Josiah's is a neat local place. My son loves their cinnamon and caramel rolls. The breakfast is really where it's at, lunch is "ok".
Coffee is good, big assortment of breakfast pastries and desserts. Worth checking out if you haven't been before.
Joyce Rhone
This is one of my very favorite places to eat and really enjoy taking my out of town guests there. However, Saturday was very disappointing! Two of the guest in my party ordered eggs benedict. When the order came the eggs in both orders were like hard boiled eggs with the ham placed on top of the eggs and sauce over that which was very little. We understand it was a busy Saturday but apparently the chef that made this order did not understand how to make eggs benedict. When I got the correct soup with my order it was very good. This will not keep me from going there or bringing my guests as it is a favorite!!!
Gayo
Great atmosphere and rather hip! However, 4 out of 7 of us had stomach issues after eating. I'd like to chalk it up to a glitch in the kitchen but who knows.
Erin Domel
Not too impressed with the coffee, however the biscuits and gravy were very good and better than your average! The sausage gravy had a little bit of spice with it but it wasn't too much for a midwesterner like myself!
Danielle Fritz
The only downside to Josiah’s is how busy it gets – but that’s only because they are phenomenal! Besides serving the best pie in town, they have a great atmosphere and are dog-friendly. They also do some amazing sponsorship of various causes, such as the Humane Society. It’s nice to see a local business with some true heart to it.
Cassidy Lynn
Holy hell the breakfast pizza 😍😍 and apparently the “lightest and best omelette I’ve ever had” if you come to Sioux Falls and don’t stop here then that might be the biggest mistake you’ve ever made. I wish 6 stars was an option …
Pam Nygard
Everything was awesome. The atmosphere, the customer service, and above all, the food was terrific. Ended a weekend in SD with a smile.(and a caramel roll)!
Suzan Limberg
Great atmosphere, better than average food for breakfast, but not 5 star. Food came out cold. Coffee was great though.
Steve King
The food was good, BUT. The food I ordered was not "culinarily" correct. The Cuban sandwich had no roasted pork which just makes it a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with a pickle in it. Seriously? I had the chicken and sausage gumbo which the cashier said was exceptional (or something along those lines). But it wasn't gumbo, it was a fairly decent southwestern chicken soup which oddly had sausage in it. The soup had black beans, corn and was fairly heavy with cumin. Didn't notice any sign of the trinity or okra. The coffee I had was good though. I more than likely won't order food here again, but I might stop for a cup of coffee if it was on my way somewhere.
Morgan McComsey
I had a cup of great tasting medium roast coffee and the quinoa and black rice salad with salmon. It included greens, cranberries, avocado and lemon slices. It was so good! It is hard to find a meal like this anywhere. I am very pleased with my experience. Thank you!
Aaron Pietsch
Had a big takeout order and everything was correct and delicious. They had it ready quickly as well in the middle of a breakfast rush.
Nicole Niedringhaus
Great place. Elizabeth provide excellent service with a smile. I recommend the cappuccino extra dry.
Cayla Ray
In town for work and managed to find this quaint little place. The interior was much bigger than anticipated and they get very busy. Breakfast was good and the coffee was very tasty! Its a little pricey but worth visiting! If anything, I wish they had more seating for lone visitors! :)
Nancy Meyer
Ok. I visited Josiah's Coffee House today and loved the coffee, delicious peach wraps and ambiance. It's the "Best Coffee House" in Sioux Falls. The owner
Is so creative in his design of the
cafe. When there, I feel like I'm
In Minneapolis where's there's
an abundance of coffee shops.
Josiah's isn't a 'brand name' bistro
but a very unique and stylish
Place to enjoy great Breakfast,
Lunches & light suppers! My two
Good friends also loved it! 🍀
Shannon
Everything I've tried here has been amazing! I especially enjoy the biscuits and gravy, the sausage and pepperoni flatbread, and the vanilla latte. My wife loves the Caesar salad.

Breakfast on 12-16-18:
Pros: Quality good breakfast with bustling atmosphere.
Cons: no coffee refills, spendy.
Overall I really liked it though. You go up to counter to order food then seat yourself. Would recommend, and come back again
Calli S
I like their food and atmosphere. We tried bringing our dog their because they do allow them, but our dog got excited by another dog in the restaurant and had to leave. I wish they would advertise their expectations for silent dogs so owners know ahead of time.
Tony Mullins
Great coffee, great atmosphere. Friendly staff. My wife and I was broke down in there town and had to wait for our vehicle to be repaired so we stayed a few hours have this coffee shop. The owners were very understandable and wished us luck on getting everything fixed. Highly recommend.
Abby B
The new location is awesome. Big enough to accommodate a rush. Got the Cuban, would have liked more meat honestly, but decent otherwise. Also got an iced chai which was ok - too spicy. Good place to check out for breakfast, lunch, or a chat over coffee. In short, pleased with the new, fabulous location but food and drinks were just ok.
Alyssa Savino
Stopped by for breakfast on the weekend- really quick service considering how busy it was. Amazing food and beverages- highly recommend grabbing a homemade pop tart!
Bethany Buitenbos
My newest obsession. I'm mad at myself for waiting so long to come here. Amazing food, friendly service, great selection of coffee. I love that you can get it in a mug if you're staying and refills are very reasonably priced. I will definitely be coming here often now that I finally tried it!
Sqwerlgirl
Found this hidden gem by following the locals! Rainy Sunday morning, downtown Sioux Falls, finally saw someone walking carrying coffee and wa-la... There it was. Josiah's Coffeehouse. From the outside it didn't look very large but once we opened the doors, I was in coffee heaven. The inside is super cute with a Modern-Farmhouse, vibe. One half was for ordering food and bakery deliciousness. The otherside was all wonderful coffee concoctions. From a straight dark roast, to Foo foo coffee with whip and foam. Delicious mocha latte. My hubby had their corned beef hash and said it was really really good. They have homemade"pop-tarts" that several people claimed were outstanding.
Josiah's is on my "must" list anytime I'm in Sioux Falls.
Dallas Thompson
Had a great sandwich and coffee plus being dog friendly was great.
Ezra Clark
Nice inviting atmosphere and staff! My coffee was delicious, I will be trying some food next time!
MJ Johnston
Super decor- kinda Chip-&-Joanna-Gaines-y. Great menu with lots of healthy, fresh food and phenomenal desserts. Huge restaurant with lots of seating and bright, natural light. Candles, coffee cups, etc available for sale. Very hip, fun place
Kris Singh (brentwoodkris)
Food was good and service was fast. They also offer options for people with dietary restrictions. The venue is HUGE! The only downside is pricing, which is pretty high for a breakfast place (but I guess they have to pay the rent on that massive storefront somehow!).
A.K. E.
Just go here!!! Cuz ....well...it's awesome. Correction.. It's freakin' awesome! Ohhh where to start... get the wonderful soul soothing, eye opening, makes your day happy, magical coffee. The kind that makes ya think you could become a morning person after all.
And it gets better, it's served by lovely, friendly and helpful staff that don't judge you because you order coffee in the normal small/medium/large size increments. Ohhhhhhh and the food....homemade from scratch everything. Our favorites were the biscuits and gravy, french toast, and breakfast flatbread. I just gotta say that I make some wonderful biscuits and gravy my own self and I'm admitting in admiration that theirs is better than mine and I'm not even upset about it. Large portions make you feel stuffed fuller than your kid's favorite lovey. The building and ambiance is so fresh and inviting that you wanna pack your u-haul and move in. Too bad they aren't on every corner... cuz if so, that ginormous coffee chain with the green mermaid-ish logo and their baristas that give you decaf if you don't order sizes in a different language would fall like a house of cards. Josiah's...please don't change anything. Cuz we love you just the way you are! Cuz we'll be back. <-- said in my best movie quote voice.
Larry Luetke
A great place downtown to grab a coffee or some great food!
Elsa Aos
Beautiful spot with amazing sandwiches and the best cheesecake! Truly tastes home made with real ingredients! Impressed to have discovered such a good restaurant in Sioux Falls!
John Hofseth
First you need to know what I'm looking for in Sioux Falls. I was sampling as many coffee shops as possible in one day. Drinking dark roast no room for cream coffee, and I asked at each place I went for a bottomless cup of coffee. The coffee was very good, but not what I would call dark roast, I liked the flavor and that it didn't try to bite me. If in the area and want coffee to go this would be fine. No bottomless cup, refills a dollar. Seats are hard metal or wood. Serves pastries if you want that.
Shannon Van Dyke
What a fantastic place to sit down and enjoy some great food and coffee. Everyone one that works here is friendly and great atmosphere. Really loved the biscuits and gravy.
Amber Ham
It was so lovely to find a hidden gem...although from what I hear this place is far from hidden. The coffee is not only affordable but also huge and delish! Service was extremely kind and efficient and the food...boy was I full after a wonderful breakfast! My total bill after tip- $14! You can't beat that!
Rachelle
As a tea drinker I love Josiah's because they have an awesome selection of great teas and don't treat it as a stepchild to coffee. Foodwise Josiah's is always awesome, always interesting and always changing while keeping the best of the favorites. Add in a really good staff and inviting atmosphere it puts Josiah's at the top of my "things I love about Sioux Falls" list.
Kevin Crum
Great coffee house feel! Nice breakfast/lunch selection's. Two house coffees daily to choose from.
Leah Kistler
Stopped in at brunch time and so glad we did!. As we walked in was recommended the "poptarts"! These are not the poptarts u and I know. These are homemade flaky blueberry melt in your mouth deliciousness! A friend and I shared one but I could have eaten it on my own just fine. Wish they came in pairs like the prepackaged! Had the eggs benedict with smoked pork shoulder bacon I believe it was. (?) Could have that wrong but it was something close to that. Anyway OMG! I've had eggs Benedict all over and these are the best I've ever had. They were made perfectly and I have craved them since. Order them! And the coffee is great too! The staff is super friendly and helpful making you feel welcome and relaxed even with 20 people in line! Love this place. It's big and roomy, plenty of space for large groups and family gatherings or a work meeting. Josiah is another great addition to downtown!
Na'ahma Golden
My first visit to the new place. All in my party agreed it was a great place to meet! Excellent food, as always. Wait staff was excellent as well. We will definitely be back!
Dylan Y.
Enjoyable crowd and employees. They memorize your name quick and aim to please their customers. Coffee is great and the specialty drinks have double the espresso compares to Starbucks
Brett
Long line on the weekends, but overall good experience each time.
Gabriel DiMartino
Amazing avocado toast and eggs, cooked to a perfect over-medium! An amazing menu I wish I had time to try all of!!
Coffee (black) is alright, a little acidic but nothing to fault the shop for.
Tolis Dimopoulos
A very "left coast" experience with free range eggs, a breakfast protein bowl, fresh baked pies, and a nice selection of herbal teas. The lighting and decor was obviously very thoughtfully done too. A Seattleite or Portlandian would feel right at home here. I highly recommend it as a resting spot if you are driving through Sioux Falls.
Russell Sanchez
Went here to eat brunch with my boyfriend and got the Steak, Arugula, & Gouda Flatbread, Ham & Swiss Sandwich, Caramel Macchiato, Iced Tea, and Cinnamon Roll for about $30. Everything was really good and the Flatbread was possibly the best one I've had in a while. Will definitely be back for more.
Also, I love the interiors of this place.
Valeri Antonova
Great atmosphere, lots of space, super friendly staff and the breakfast food was really good! Visiting Josiah’s really made our mood for a wonderful Saturday!

Good breakfast and fast service despite being busy. Cozy cafe and recently renovated on the inside for seating
Alison Raaen
Um...yum! As owner Steve will tell you, the coffee served at Josiah's is never bitter. Enormously delicious dishes and fresh baked goods that are always changing - good thing I can't even pick a favorite. Not to mention it's in a great part of downtown.
Shannen Mahal
Delicious food! Nice hot drinks, and wonderful service! Our food came out quickly, and the fruit and veggies were tasty, crisp, and fresh! Highly recommend
Jacob Steele
Everything is done the way it should be, from the coffee and tea to the danishes and delicious sunflower seed English muffin breakfast sandwiches. Staff is friendly atmosphere is great and honestly I won't go anywhere else if I have a choice. All around excellent.
Mitchell Arends
Josiah's has some of best coffee in town. Their food and pastries are always great. They do a good job of keeping the menu fresh and continually coming up with new choices on their lunch menu. I highly recommend this place.
Lindsey M
The turkey provolone hot sandwich is quite literally the best sandwich I’ve ever had in my life!
Karen Lundquist
A cozy spot with an ever-evolving menu. Food is fresh and flavorful, often local, and complemented by great coffee, it's a perfect breakfast and lunch spot! The staff is very knowledgeable, and can guide you through the pastries, specials, and hand-crafted beverages.
Aubrianna butler
It was very good. My 2 family brought my thier dog and 2 kids. They were very loud no one cared, and the people were very nice.
Summer
First of all, this place is just wayyy too cute. It's bit of a delay post. We went there just before Xmas. We had salmon benedict and steak (dont remember the full names). They tasted very good. Small volume tho in case you're a big eater lol. It's a wonderful place to just sit and read book, study or do nothing! The deco was so cute and delightful bc of the vibrant color. This place also has a long history if you are a history nerd.
Dave Raley
I'm from Seattle and was looking for a great local coffee shop with great coffee and good pastries- Josiah's it definitely it. The coffee and espresso is very high-quality, and the caramel sticky bun was delicious. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.
Chris Baker
Top-notch cortado, espresso, pastry, and salad greens/dressing. Top it off with a comfort-inducing mixture of Midwest-vintage and 50s aesthetic, and this spacious cafe gets high marks.
Lucas Beseke
A very hip modern coffee house with a rustic historic structure. Nice selection of coffee drinks and food items. Coffee was very hot and tasted great, the mocha cold press frappe also was great.
Tracie Gullickson
Steak and Blue cheese salad was the best in town. Great service and it's nice that you can bring your four legged friends along. Awesome atmosphere.
Jeffrey Schmaus
Great Cuban and good matcha latte. Lots of space to dine inside and out.
John Wright
Really nice place to meet and eat.
Karen Millikan
We were there for a class reunion. Occupied the large room on the side of business. Large buffet set out of "snack foods" ( cheese, crackers, fruit, etc.)
James Ashley
This place is overrated. There English muffin was horrible, way to solid... Everything looks pretty good, but ahhh. They do not carry grape jelly, that is just horrible. The coffee was great though.
MK L
This is an eclectic coffeehouse and cafe. The coffee is what I was there for. It is robust but smooth. They have a great looking menu as well as a great looking display of baked goods .. I hear the pies are wonderful.
SDGirl
Great place for a first date! Good food. Good atmosphere. Good coffee. Nice employees. Clean coffeehouse. Worth checking it out!

Percy Pomeroy
Delicious veggie omelet and coffee
Liz Sutter
Spent $26 on a coffee, flatbread, and crappy egg and bacon sandwich on store bought bread. Way over priced but seemingly the only option for a super early breakfast in Sioux Falls. Oh and the bacon tasted like that microwave boxed bacon. Oh well.
Danielle Tanner
Very busy! It was cute and clean. The service was quick and friendly. The food was fairly good (not crazy excellent, but good!) and the coffee was great!

Nice place. Too expensive for having to grab your own silverware though. Kind of a cafeteria feel rather than cafe. Good for a quick bite if you don't mind the price.
