Reviews of West Seattle Fish House
Christine Cordrey
Look how fat those prawns are! West Seattle Fish House is expanding their menu. The prawns were fat and juicy and the breading was crispy. I got the chowder and it's some of the best chowder right behind Ivar's Salmon House. The fries were fries not much to say. My son liked the Mac N cheese.

Wonderful little place! The woman at the front counter was very sweet and the fish and chips were delicious and enormous. Lots of bang for your buck and amazing service! :)
Keith Killinger
*Large* pieces of cod, *lots* of crispy fries. Good, cheerful service. Only 4 stars for "atmosphere" because it's basically take-out with just a couple of tables and chairs.
A bit higher-priced than I was figuring on, but I'm not a Seattle resident and not acquainted with typical prices. Along those lines, just 4 stars because you have to pay for tartar sauce. Otherwise, a good place.
Chris Vincent
Happy to join in the well-deserved 5-star hype. This is simply one of the best eateries in the neighborhood. You can eat in store but they only have a few chairs. Best for take out. They owners operate the place with professionalism and grace. Their food is excellent. It is now on our top-five places to enjoy in West Seattle.
Gilda Fulco
Best fish and chips in a long time. Place owned by two Beautiful Sisters from Eritrea! Friendly, smiling Women small business and clean environment. Yummy menu! Free Street Parking available! A bit off the mainstream, but worth it!
Alex Zephyr
Great food, great staff. I know this is a fish and chips joint, but would really have liked to see something green on the menu, even just carrot sticks and celery, or collard greens, or a simple salad.
The fish was flaky, the chips tasty, not greasy. For a fried meal it felt light, not like a gut bomb.
kevin nelson
Just moved into the neighborhood and found this gem. Fast service, very friendly, the fish was thick and fresh. It was well seasoned and the breading was crispy and stayed on the fish to the end. Can’t wait to try the other offerings. Definitely a “go to” for us.
Ahda Arifa Ismail
The lady is so nice, i miss going to this place! Please survive the pandemic and hope you open normally soon.
My family and I loved the Fish & Chips here. The fish are fresh and the tar tar sauce is generous and delicious. The price is so good for this much of a portion.

Order the fish and chips. The cod was ok. You can tell the breading is pre-made the way it broke apart and no seasoning on the fish or the breading. The fries had salt.
Zachariah Swetky
We really enjoyed this little, down to earth cafe. It was fast, fresh counter service. The low key atmosphere was pretty child friendly too. The fish was nice and crispy and came with an ample serving of fries. The salmon chowder was the crown jewel though.
Enjoy!
Mark Hughes
Anytime we're in the area we swing through to pick up some delicious fish and chips! The owners are probably the nicest people you'll ever meet, they have an excellent food rating, and the quality of the fish is good. We used to be able to eat inside out a few tables, but they have taken the tables out and created a small store with some conveniences so check it out if you need something.
Chel Moreland
Seevicec was great. Staff was very friendly. Food was excellent! I had 6 piece prawns with fries. The thick and juicy prawns were perfectly cooked and tasty. They actually seasoned all the food. My friend had the salmon burger with fries, DELICIOUS! Again perfectly cooked and seasoned. I will return for sure. No catfish sold here though.
Alex Siwiec
Overall a great place. They’ve been there for like a decade. The fish is not the absolute best, but it’s pretty consistent, and the prawns are definitely above average. I also appreciate the simplicity of the menu. Fish. Prawns. That’s it.
Stephen “Biggs” Adams
This place is def "to go", so don't plan on sticking around to consume your acquired fare.
The folx that run the place are kind and friendly and they make one helluva terrific fish n' chips bowl. The fish has a decent crisp to it along with a good flavoring -not the most awesome I've ever had, but still damn good. The fries are seasoned well with a seasoned salt that's better than the kind found at Red Robin (which is saying a lot). The prawns are also really good and worth the trip.
This place is a credit to the Westwood Village/Fauntleroy community.
Charisse Govig
Friendly and fast service, reasonable prices and tasty food! Love that the fish is not super greasy or beer battered. Great take out spot
John S.
Nice hole in the wall to grab some fish & chips in West Seattle. Presentation was nice. The fish was crispy and full of flavor, and came with plenty of tartar for dipping. The chips were a little soggy and limp, but sometimes that's what you want; with some vinegar and salt, they still tasted pretty good. Staff is very friendly and made us feel welcome. You'll leave full for under 15 bucks, which is pretty fair.
Laura Bridle-Breen
My wife and I have passed it a dozen times over the past year and finally had the time to stop today and OMG so glad we did! We got the 3 piece cod fish and chips and can honestly say for both of us it was the best we have ever had. Fresh, not greasy at all and tasty. The fries were also good. Price more then fair (shhhhhh, don't tell them, but as good as it was they absolutely could charge more 😜). Tartar sauce also tasty and not mass market cheater style at all. We will definitely go again even just for them and considering we live in Carnation (east of Seattle) and that is a 45 to 50 minute drive that is saying something 😋. Highly highly recommend.
Angie Esperanza
Food is always Hot and full of flavor. Costumer service is outstanding 10/10 would recommend. Food is worth the price
Michael Kea
A walk up counter service restaurant with really good food and service. Their main specialty is fish and chips. I had the wild salmon fish and chips, my wife had a grilled salmon salad. The food was excellent, however the $40 total stung a bit.
Sam Taylor
As a Brit, fish & chips holds a special place in my heart, and my standards are high. That being said, this might be the best fish supper I've had in Seattle, and I spent a good amount of time looking!
They always add a little something extra with the meal, whether an extra tartar sauce or even sometimes an extra piece of fish. The people that run it have a really welcoming, family vibe.
I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a great, casual dining experience
Erin Orth
I’m giving this place five stars because of the clam chowder. To be honest, the fish and chips was, average. Not bad, not the best I’ve ever had, but it was good. It was tasty and the ladies that work there are wonderful. However, the chowder was above average. I will return for the chowder. If you want fish and chips, by all means, eat here. But if want really good clam chowder, you can’t go wrong. Support your local restaurants!
Dennis Hoelscher
Muzit and Senait serve delicious Cod or Tilapia with tasty fries. Not to greasy and they are very kind and friendly proprietor’s in a neighborhood location.
Curt Hayes
Very good. They gave a limited menu now, but they're quality is very good. We got a few fish (cod) and chips and a prawn and chips, and both were done expertly. Very good, and got to meet the owner. Nice people, I highly recommend. Note: they're closed on Sundays. Bonus, they're next to cupcake store.
Jasper Korneitchouk
Love this spot. The fish is battered to perfection, the fries are delicious, the tartar sauce is creamy, and I genuinely think this place has the best Mac n' Cheese I've ever had in my life. I look forward to returning soon. Strongly recommend.
K Min
Super friendly service! I really liked how creamy the clam chowder and how perfectly salted the fries are. I'm slightly disappointed at the batter of the cod fish though. It was just a tad too thick.
Peter Stier (PeterSJr)
Just got into town for a visit and am staying at in-laws up the street within walking distance. Had a hankering for some fish-n-chips, and saw this place. Went to it, and have no regrets I did. Owner is super friendly, place is definitely "no frills" and at first the prices may seem a bit steep, but the three-piece I meal I got (which I initially assumed would be just for me) I ended up splitting with my teen nephew. Check it.
Chris Santos
Very small hole in the wall that serves fantastic food. Fantastic panko crusted fish and chips. The cod was generously portioned with a light crispy crust that had no trace of greasiness. It was flat out good. The coleslaw is also fantastic and fresh, very crunchy. Service was kind and sincere. Everything about this experience was perfect. They didn't have seating available at the time.
Christopher Foust
Great little shop for fish and chips. Staff was great! Do recommend!
Eleanor Wildflower
Best fries and cod I've ever had! Staff are so friendly. Drinks are cold and delicious. Convenient location, too!
Milton Jenkins
Gotta say, this place has the goods. Generous portions and tasty. Don’t know what I was expecting but got that and more!
Melissa R.
A hidden gem in West Seattle. Fish and chips are always excellent — crispy and never greasy. Prices are very reasonable and the owners are extraordinary. They are models for excellent customer service! Highly recommend.
Suzanne Skadowski
Tasty, fresh, fast & friendly - everything we hoped for at this local, family-run fish & chips spot. Fresh, crispy fish (delicious cod), thick fries, crunchy coleslaw, and lots of homemade tartar sauce -- a great family dinner on a busy weeknight. We'll be back again and again.
Jessika Gramajo
I love it here. Seasoned (!!!) fish & crispy fries :)
mike and andrea WITMER
Great, big piece of cod. Not greasy at all. I don't how they do it! Good fries and tartar too. Friendly service and good prices. Do yourself and them a favor and support this place!🙂 …
S.K. CHANDLER
We missed the owners and their lovely fish!!! Their back!!!!
The Cod and Prawns, and fries 😋
We miss the fried Salmon 😭
It would be nice if they could add Hush Puppies or a Dinner Rolls or 🍞 too menu.
Chris and Sarah Fraser
Very friendly staff and amazing food. They are always so nice and even remember me from before they closed for a bit such nice amazing people that make amazing fish and chips the cod is always so perfectly cook crispy on the outside and soft and juicy in the middle
Bob Phillips
Absolutely the BEST fish and chips in Seattle. Cooked fresh while you wait, and it is worth the wait. Generous portions. The nicest people. The lady who takes the orders is always friendly. You can eat there, but I like to take it home, spread it out on a plate, maybe grab a beer and enjoy.
Mayank Tahilramani
Delicious under rated fish and chips joint in West Seattle. If you want to eat and help local, look no further. Absolutely love this fish n chips here and the chowder when it’s Available.
Danielle H. Trierweiler
As a long time fish n’ chips fan, this is my new favorite spot in Seattle because they use a panko-style breading which I love. Better than Pacific Inn Pub’s in Fremont IMO. Their clam chowder is tasty too! Service is always friendly and fast, kitchen looks clean. I’m happy to support this neighborhood business.
Rebecca Zielinski
Amazingly good fish and chips!! Not bready NOR greasy at all. I had leftovers the next day and the fish was still juicy inside with a crispy crust. Will be my number one for local chip house! Chowder was awesome too and I'm a tough critic.
Moke tubbe (Moketubbe)
Large portions, efficient friendly staff. Some of my fried potatoes were as good as can be: crisp on the outside, creamy on the inside, as though parboiled and twice fried in the French manner. Some, alas, were quite ordinary & soggy. The breading on the true cod is crunchy and quite tasty. Both the ketchup and the tartar sauce were idiosyncratic, but much enjoyed. The tasty slaw is only very lightly sweet and quite crisp. Two of us ate well for $20, without beverages. Parking was easy on a Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. I would have given 5 stars, but there is a loud television.
Jonathan Agnew
Best fish n' chips I've had in W. Seattle. Great tarter sauce, great cod, salmon, fish cakes, coleslaw and friendly service. I don't know why it has two '$' on here, it's very reasonable. You can get a full meal for under $10 and some good to-go grub for under $5. Great location, too. Library across the street, awesome cupcakes next door and a craft beer mart a block away.
Julia Brooks
Wonderful little fish and chips place. Very reasonably priced as well. The only negative was the clam chowder - it wasn't really a chowder. Barely any potatoes, clams, etc and if by off chance we got a clam in our bite, it was full of grit. The fish and chips and tartar were amazing!
Eric Garrett
This is excellent food, with fast service and reasonable prices. Though the menu is somewhat limited in scope as far as the number of choices, it more than makes up for any perceived lack of selection in terms of quality - and typical of an authentic UK Fish & Chips. Nothing needs considered, order up, and smile you'll love it. (My grandparents immigrated from Isle of Man).
Christian Schubert
Best local fish and chips place. The staff is always very friendly and with a smile. You can tell these guys work hard because the fish is amazing! Highly recommend if you are looking for a place to eat.
KB KB
Lovely owners and staff. Good food. Inexpensive. Highly recommend. I only ask if you could offer gluten free options. But it is great little joint.
Greg Thomson
I thought the price of one piece of fried cod was high. But the piece is huge! Two piece of cod excellent feast, not a snack.
Claire Jaramillo
Tip: Cash ONLY. SUPER friendly owners/staff, huge portions, great quality and fair prices. I have the halibut and chips and kids had the cod and chips and it was more than enough food. We took a to go bag and gave it to my step dad as it was enough food for a whole other meal :-)
Kenneth Neafcy
Mom and pop shop run by the mom. Very friendly. Very simple menu: Your choices are cod, tilapia or salmon. The do have a soup (clam chowder) and fried shrimp prawns as well.
Cod was crispy and delicious. Fries were frozen but crispy and good. At a quick glance the kitchen looked VERY clean. I can certainly recommend it as a takeout stop for the whole family. KN
Bean Y.
delicious seafood, fair prices, quick turnaround, and incredibly warm-hearted service. i’ve been a repeat customer just for the clam chowder, which i found full of flavor, potatoes, and clams - plus, the folks who run this spot are really generous. their credit card machine was down once when i didn’t have cash... the owner offered to treat me! i ran to a nearby ATM, of course, but i won’t forget the kindness. support an awesome POC business and treat yourself to a fantastic lunch!
Chris Godwin
Fast (10 minutes for a three orders) and polite service. The fish was well fried (meaning not oily) with a nice taste. Will probably make this a part of the regular rotation.
Schuyler Griffith
This is the fish and chips you've been looking for. Made to order it comes out hot and crispy with tender fish and pretty good fries. With good tartar sauce, and malt vinegar. I'll be coming here to scratch the itch for fish and chips from now on.
Anthony Bailey
Awesome fish, shrimp, and a owner that is warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!
Jonathan Williams
My girlfriend and I discovered this place and really enjoyed the Cod Fish & Chips! Fish was crispy and they use some large pieces too. We did not go hungry after eating there.
Mark Hughes
We are so happy they are open again! The most friendly people and service. Great fish. Call ahead and head down to Lincoln Park like we did! Thank you for coming back for us!
Bi N
good price for the size of the pieces!! Very friendly staff and would double check if you wanted extra tarter sauce and such!! Food was still hot when i got home too!
Katie Van Fleet
Nice service but unfortunately the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. On the plus side it wasn’t greasy, but the breading was bad and the fish overdone.
Dena Hedegaard
Delicious fish and chips. Friendly staff. Glad I found it!
Cheryl Holdcroft
Delicious fresh fish and chip shop. Nothing fancy- just good food. Basic soft drinks available. May be able to bring your own beer. Counter seats and a few small tables. Really nice owners! The cole slaw is delicious!
Thomas Schilperoort
Very friendly owner operators. I like to support small businesses. However, I would rate the quality of the cod to at least tie for first in Seattle. Thick, flaky cod with thin batter. Good tarter. The two--piece really filled me up. Good prices, I hope they stay in business, `cause I'm longing for some more right now.
Renee Schauer
Wow! I can’t believe I’ve driven past this place for years and haven’t stopped in!
It’s amazing!!! Perfectly crispy cod, fresh fries and the SALMON CHOWDER IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!
Top it off with a cupcake from next door (Stuffed Cakes) and we’re talking another perfect meal of comfort food in my own West Seattle backyard!
❤️🙃
Robert Lee
Great little place, homestyle fried seafood.
Stephen S
I had the cod sandwich and it was great!
When you look at the menu the prices seem a little high but it was worth every penny. The sandwich came with a ton of fries.
My only complaint is that everything here is battered and fried. No other options
Brander Roullett
Some of the best fish and chips I've had in this city. Certainly the best in West Seattle. Small no nonsense shop, with a single focus... Fish. And chips. Friendly and nice family runs the place.
Anthony Schlacks
Small cozy fast dining on 35th Ave SW. Kind lady at the cashier. I ordered the salmon chowder with friesn which totalled 11 dollars with a drink. It was delicious and was a nice mix of salmon, butter, tomato, and cheese flavors.
Matthew Rinearson
Our 4 year olds decided they wanted fish and chips. I googled and we decided we’d cross the Duwamish and head to West Seattle Fish House. They were closed! There was a hand scribbled note on the door explaining, “we needed a break more than they realized. We promise to be open August 1st.” We were disappointed and did another Google search and headed to Des Moines, but that alternate had a 40 minute wait and was hot and stuffy inside. We wound up nearby at a well known chain. The view of the marina and the red, smoke tinted setting sun were nice. Dropped $100 bucks there that I would have rather have spent at the West Seattle Fish House. We’ll come back and I will edit my review at that time. 3 stars for now.
David Holzinger
The food was good and reasonably priced but they don't offer dine in
Kara suther
Seriously the best customer service and great food. The people working here are so kind and really go above and beyond to make their customers happy. I will be back again soon!

Ray Grandstaff
The fish is tender... no bones... probably the best I have had in quite a while. Comparable to Arnies, Anthony's, Ivar's
Charli Ferguson

Mary Sweeney
Fish is good just a little more breading than I like. Very very casual and very little seating. Plan for take out.

They take Square but I came with cash... fantastic find for Salmon and Chips yet I skipped the chips and got a 5 piece Wild Salmon to go cause the sound is near by.
Dave Gershgorn
Quick and delicious, so excited to find a new to-go takeout spot!
Marci Capprini
They have to have the freshest fish south of Pike Place Market I just hate that a guy named Greg Thompson had to steal the trailer full of fish everyone thinks that I'm related to him and that is just not true he is such a bully all through middle School and High School I mean really what was he going to do with the trailer full of raw fish he couldn't even refrigerate it
Maribeth Anderson
