Reviews of The Independent Pizzeria
Great place! The dough is chewy and crisp on the outside. The toppings on the four pies I’ve had have been great. To top it off, the prices are pretty good for Seattle! So may find the charring a little much.
It's a jewel here in Seattle! Great staffs work here. Their Margherita is one of the best I've ever had (including the places we tried in Italy!) I'd come here at least once a week if this place was in Vancouver.
This place certainly lived up to the expectations and other reviews.
Delicious wood fired crusts and wonderful toppings. A little on the greasy side for a traditional Neapolitan but that didn’t detract from the experience or flavor at all. In fact, I’m determined to go back and get some with meat as I’m sure it’d be wonderful.
Enjoyed the location as well! Perfect to order up and then walk over and enjoy the water.
I love pizza, and this is my favorite pizza in Seattle. We always have the oven on when doing takeout to put the pizza in right away because it’s best enjoyed hot and fresh. We had the New Haven this time again and it’s legit so good.
I also HAVE to mention their sides. The Caesar salad and the bread that comes with it. Holy mackerel. Again it’s the best Caesar salad I’ve had in Seattle and they bread is insane next level stuff.
Lastly, I mention the tiramisu. I hate to sound like a broken record but it’s the best I’ve had in Seattle. Generous portion (good because it’s pricey).
I’m always blown away by Independent Pizzeria. Highly highly recommend.
Very tasty wood fired pizza. One size only, on the small side and just a tad pricey. That tiramisu, though...
This is some great tasting authentically Italian pizza. My husband and I each got our own pizza and it lasted us for dinner and lunch the next day. Quality ingredients and great crust.
The pizza is pretty good and there’s tables where you can eat outside (they offer cutlery, water, etc)!
Being married to an Italian from Naples makes it harder to like pizza abroad but this one lives up to it. What better compliment can I say? We will be back.
The family and I were visiting Seattle on a family vacation and had to try some local pizza. This is a cute little place that had friendly service. I enjoyed a bottle of some local craft beer and devoured this delicious pizza. We got the The Independent Pizzeria -- Mozzarella Fior di Latte, Asiago, Arugula, Salame Piccante, Pepperoncini Piccante
Can't wait to come back the next time we are in town.
Something as simple as pizza, I have high expections.... This is the second place I've found in seattle I will eat pizza at. Quality ingredients, inviting staff, and cooked how it should be, slightly charred. Thanks independent pizzeria, Ill be back!
Really fresh and flavorful pizzas with vegetarian options. I also had their tiramisu which was very tasty too.
The staff is friendly and overall the place has a very positive chill vibe
to go, i was there before it was boxed, so it didn’t sit. flavors were good. i prefer crisp, this was soggy. light (there was a lot of moisture though) and other than the missing crisp, exactly what i wanted. good blisters. as background, i detest zeek’s (medium dough? yuck), find pagliacci to be a bare minimum, and do like new york and new haven pizza. blah blah blah.
Well balanced. And they have a new haven style pizza. Can’t complaint.
This is absolutely the best pizza I have *ever* had, period. Every variety is superb with the Stevedore my absolute favorite which has a tangy flavor from the pickled onions. When we order from here my usual 2 piece limit goes right out the window. Thin, crispy, delicious crust, high quality ingredients and just remarkable flavor. And the Tiramisu is heavenly. Almost didn't want to review so it doesn't become more popular, lol. But they deserve the credit. You will not be disappointed.
Good pizza, sub par service. Wait time was 1hr (15 mins more than what was originally indicated) for 2 pies while staff was busy drawing sketches (cute, I'll give you that) on each box. Also, enough with the "no indoor dining, take out only" already!
The best pizzas I've had in Seattle so far has been here. Everything tastes fresh, balanced, and well seasoned. The bread is delicious, not overly thin but not overpowering either. I've had pizza from here about 4 times now, so I can definitely attest to them being very consistent in their quality as well, which is something I find Seattle is lacking in. They've made pickup easy and quick. They have the traditional and the more interesting types of pizza, and all of them have very balanced flavor portfolios. An easy 5 star!
Fantastic pizza and super-friendly folks. Good wine selection as well. Highly recommend as one of the best pizzas in Seattle.
Great pizza, for two, or the entire family! Salads, vegies, wine and beer. Easy to get there, but parking can sometimes be a challenge, fantastic, friendly, great service.
Some of the best pizza I’ve had in Seattle! The dough is perfectly charred with just the right amount of chewiness. The toppings are fresh and the sauce has the perfect acidity to compliment the cheese! Would absolutely recommend
This is not only hands down the best pizza in Seattle, but is my family's favorite restaurant in the city. We are hardcore pizza fanatics. Independent Pizzeria is the best Neapolitan style I've had outside of Italy, where I lived for many years. These people are amazing, brilliant, the epitome of quality, local ingredients. Best in the neighborhood, best in the city.
Incredibly good. Possibly the best in Seattle.
Great pizza with a fantastic char on the crust. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!!
Great pizza place. I would say top 3 in Seattle. The restaurant is very small, and bustling so it's a fun place to sit. They have a good selection of wines and good prices overall. They do have very limited hours however. It's best to get here right when they open so you can grab a table before the families start pouring in.
After walking past this place on numerous occasions-it's always bustling!-we finally stopped to sit and grab a bite. There was no wait this Sunday night and we opted to sit at the bar. There is a brick oven that you can see as you take a seat there. My eyes were drawn to the fresh dough, handled with care and precision, and the steady flow of pizzas with crispy crusts flowing out of the kitchen right to the dining area. The sauce on the pie and the various toppings (I skipped the cheese and added more veggies) were excellent. The staff was very personable and chatted with us as we waited for our meal. We were splendidly surprised ordering dessert...something I don't normally do since my husband and I tend to enjoy more savory foods than sweet. Tiramisu transformed our dinner date to a romantic night that I will remember for a long, long time. The Independent Pizzeria is an exceptional local spot, perfectly situated on the corner adjacent to Madison Beach Park and Lake Washington. Don't miss out!
This place is some of the only decent pizza in Seattle. But that sells it short. The Independent makes a pie whose parts are all great: the cheese, the toppings, and especially the crust. Their base style is Neopolitan, which is, let's be clear, truly the best of all styles of pizza.
The location is fairly small, so it can take some time to get to sit down when it's busy. I also wish it were a bit more centrally located, but you can't have it all.
If you're looking for good pizza and have felt disappointed by Seattle, definitely check it out.
Nice cozy spot in Madison Valley. Went here with a group of friends. Not many tables, so depending on what time of the night you may have to wait a bit... A variety of pizza ingredients, but more on the gourmet side. Thin crust; Brick oven; All fresh ingredients. They can be for one person, or order a few to share. Rotating tap... The bill was more than I expected, but still reasonable for what you get.
Wonderful staff. Delicious pizza. Affordable and tasty wine.
The best pizza I've ever had, and a great selection of beer and wine. Nice takeout experience, truly special for dine-in occasions.
One of my favorite spots in Seattle in the summer. You can sit outside by the water and get a wood-fired pizza. What more could you ask for? Just make sure you go there ready to wait a while. But you can always grab a drink nearby while you wait.
I have ordered pick up a few times and each time has been consistently delicious. By far the better pizza I have come across since moving to Seattle.
The pizza and the people are always a delight at this wonderful little pizzeria in Madison Park. You will never regret journeying out for one of the Indie's scrumptious and perfectly prepared journeys to Nirvana.
Good wood-fired traditional pizzas. Quality ingredients. Salads and caprese are very good. Beer choices good, too. Ambience is basic and comfortable. Nice location in middle of Madison park. Parking can be challenging.
A popular pizza spot in Madison Park. It's open limited hours and there is usually a wait. But it's worth it. Get on the list and then stroll down to the water. Very affordable. Great tiramisu.
Cute place with lots of windows, which lead to great views of Lake Washington! I got the state fair and was very happy with my choice! Would come back again! Super small so make a reservation ahead of time.
Great dough, good sauce, overall very good pizza. Root beer is on tap, so no free refills and it comes in a small mason jar. Little disappointing
Really great pizza. Some really interesting pies and fantastic flavors. Wonderful folks running the place, too. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but it's worth the effort.
Some of the best pizza in town! It's a very small place and developed quite the deserving reputation, so waits can vary and be quite long at times. But always worth it.
We had the New Haven and Syracuse pies. Both were fantastic. I’m already fantasizing about the next time I get to taste the New Haven.
Became a fan of Joe's following my personal interest in creating Neopolitan Style pizza and seeing his video on YouTube. I live in NY. Having just graduated from ND, my son accepted a position at Amazon. We moved him out to Seattle the week of 7.9.18. Such a busy week, attempted to meet Joe and try his pizza the last day before heading back to NY. His pizza must be awesome because you have to wait! The timing was just OFF. Maybe next time I visit my son...🍕😐
This place delivers every time! One of my favorite pizza spots in Seattle. Grab it to go and eat across the street by the water.
The pizza is fantastic. The smell of garlic is in the air. The crust is just perfect from their brick oven with just the right crisp. Great service.
The food was amazing, great selection of tasty brews to choose from. Only down side was the service was slower than we would have liked but the staff was very friendly and we really enjoyed the view. Great spot for a couple of Texas folk to enjoy a nice evening together.
Such a chill, relaxed environment. I love it here! The pizza is amazing too! I recommend the Beta with sausage, artichoke hearts, and fresh tomato.
Best in Seattle. Fresh ingredients and amazing char and chew to the crust. The real deal. Try the Norwalk with red onions and mushrooms. WOW!
Pizza was amazing! It is very cozy with outdoor seating, the waiters were always around and service was great. Will definitely come back here.
I've spent many years trying to find a place in Seattle that makes authentic Italian Neapolitan pizza, I finally found it. Best pizza I've had in the Emerald City.
Lovely al fresco dining, tasty pies and wine specials. Gracious waitstaff. One of Seattle's best places to enjoy a summer's Eve.
Very good Neopolitan pizza. Small place with limited seating. Crusts sometime too dark - easy to remedy by asking for it not to be well done.
Great location. Good pizza. Good service. Decent selection of drinks. I would recommend going if you're in the area.
I recommend the (pricey) Quattro with spec. (4 cheese with dried ham) You can order to-go pizzas as early as 3:30 pm (to pick up after they open at 5 pm).
Awesome pizzza, wine, staff, vibes. Location is right next to the beach and makes the perfect spot for dinner. During peak beach season expect long waits.
Pizza was good but portions are not filling at all. Basically you can eat an entire pizza yourself and still be hungry. Salad was bleh
Our favorite pizza spot in Seattle. Intimate, small space inside with great flavors of pizza and the staff is helpful and nice!
Best pizza in Seattle. Can’t say enough about this place, the staff, the location, the wine, the za! All amazing.
One of our favorite pizza joints in town. You may have to wait a bit to get a table, but it is worth it!
My favorite pizza place in Seattle. Try the funghi if it's available!
Excellent Italian style pizza. Had the clam special with a butter garlic olive oil base. Delicious
Great fun laid back Atmosphere. Good pizza with many unusual but fun choices. Salads huge and fresh
Fantastic pizza. Tried the Roman and the Stevedore, they were both delicious.
Best pizza in Seattle. After countless others, finally found something as good as a good NYC slice.
Highly worth any wait you may incur visiting this location. Great food, owners, staff. All around a very delicious experience
Fabulous pizza. Tremendous setting. Would go here again after spending some time at the beach.
It is easily one of the best pizza restaurants in the Seattle area. They specialized in thin crust pizzas.
Delicious, thin crust, and friendly service.
Biased but I do think it's great, funny that Google would prompt me to review my own restaurant.
Exceptional pizza, the environment is so friendly and cosy, I thought I was transferred back in Europe
amazing pizza, amazing people. definitely worth your time.
Really good food and nice people. A tad pricey, but I think it's worth it.
Best pizza and atmosphere in town! Great for parties.
Really good pizza, WAY to many kids.
I’ll just go elsewhere.
Excellent pizza and bread. The togo is really well done.

Great thin crust pizza and delicious bread.
Perfect thin crusts, amazing flavors in the toppings
Great crust, vegetarian options
Great place with awesome service and the pizza is to die for!
It lives up to the hype. If only it offered a lunch opening at least once a week.
Awesome place and very good pizza.
