Reviews of Shaker + Spear

Overall: Great option for upscale dining, especially if you like seafood.
The good: Charred octopus was melt in your mouth goodness, and the truffle fries were crispy and flavorful (as well as big enough to split between 3-4 people). The scallops risotto was hearty and filling, and the scallops themselves were fresh and cooked well. Overall the portion sizes were pretty good and we didn't leave hungry. They had a good-sized menu for cocktails, which were great. Atmosphere is modern and clean but didn't feel sterile or cold.
The not-so-good: Food menu is limited and the service was pretty slow at times. Prices are a little too high. Limited seating.
Food/drink: 8.5/10
Atmosphere: 8/10
Service: 8/10

Yes to the chef and his team! That was a great experience. Sitting at the chef's table made it that much more of a wonderful time. Watching and seeing what they do was amazing as was the food. Thanks for the best spent four hours! Definitely going back and recommending!

This place is amazing for people, who love sea food. Overall the ambience is amazing along with service. We ordered Duck, Calamari, Risotto, and bread rolls. Sea food was amazing, but I won't recommend this place when it comes to veg options. Looks like I was the only veg person in the group and it didn't work well in my case.

Started off with clams and oysters and it was heaven. The service is amazing, the food, well you just cannot go wrong with anything you order. Started out with small plates and so much flavor...we have eaten at many seafood restaurants and clams...well...recommend! If you like clams try them here you will not be disappointed.
More to come with main dish.
Edit**
Ordered the cod and it's simply amazing. Very flavorful, crisp, melts in your mouth. Highly recommend!

Great dinner! We got charred octopus, Burrata tomato salad (shocked how much we loved it), scallops, and desserts. All absolutely amazing!
The menu changes as they use seasonal local ingredients. Out server Adrianne was phenomenal and her recommendations were spot on! She was kind and attentive and we loved her. We are so glad we had dinner here.

We walked in, got seated at the Chefs table, and the dining experience was amazing. We tried the appetizers such as the octopus, nicoise salad, and the mussels. Every dish was delicious. The seafood was fresh. The staff is attentive. We received free desserts from the head chef. I would give this place a 6 stars out of 5 if I could.

Great local ingredients to form great dishes. This is a nice place to come for a fancier meal. The miso black cod and the scallops were very tasty although am glad that we ordered the truffle parmesan fries on the side as they weren’t the most filling. The fries were fantastic. The service was great - very helpful and friendly. Overall nice meal albeit slightly on the pricier side.

Magnificent. I had a fantastic meal here and I absolutely loved the vibe. The black cod entree has a nice sear, is full of flavors, and just melts right into your mouth! The manila clams are very tasty too and I also enjoyed their local greens salad with the roasted delicata squash. Highly recommended restaurant. Will definitely be back for more of their delicious seafood.

Pretty disappointed by my experience here, even debated giving this review one less star. I’d put it at a 2.5/5 if I could.
The good: the environment was lovely. It has a darker and more refined atmosphere that I’d expect out of a quality restaurant. Service was good enough, although nothing to write home about. The plating was quite visually appealing.
The bad: severely unimpressed by the food. We ordered the oysters and rolls to start. Both were palatable, I enjoyed the rolls but thought the peppercorns in the butter were kind of overpowering and crunchy. For entrees, we ordered the duck, hanger steak, and halibut. All three were quite cold by the time they arrived. The hanger steak seemed like quite a poor cut of meat and had a really tough texture. The duck was also tough and the salad green was quite bitter, the kind I would expect as a garnish.
Would have liked to see some better quality in these dishes, especially given the price. Additionally, for a restaurant that labels itself as “coastal seafood”, there were very few fish choices (and the octopus was from Spain, not the PNW).
Might be willing to try this place again, but I would spend your money elsewhere if you are looking for a nicer place to eat downtown

I had a beautiful meal here, it didn't look that attractive when I had initially looked it up, but the atmosphere is intimate and up scale. Everything we ate was wonderful and fresh, I loved seeing the chefs do their magic from my table. We ended up spending $90 a person with sharing an appetizer, 3 entrees, and 4 drinks.

Absolutely amazing!!! We had the scallops (perfect), the charred octopus (amazing), the muscles (perfect), the chevre cheesecake with blueberry compote (amazing), and the raspberry sorbet eton mess (so delicious). The service was excellent as well (thank you Nate)! My wife and I went here for our anniversary and we love fine dining. The meal and service here was on par with any great restaurant we've visited. I'd absolutely come back.

I came here for my birthday! The inside was clean and moody. We were sat promptly as we reserved, and the waiter helped us choose what to order. We got a raw scallop appetizer which featured plums, and it was delicious! The scallop was soft, the sauce on top was salty but balanced by the tangy sweetness of the plum slices. For our entrees, we got the lamb and halibut. Lamb was mouth watering and soft enough to fall off the bone. It was amazing, with hints of sweet carrot and peas. It was topped on a bed of couscous which absorbed the heavy flavor of the meat perfectly. The halibut was also extremely soft, served with veggies that played into the flavor of the fish. Amazing. A little bank-breaking, but it's a perfect spot for a special occasion.

The ambience in the restaurant was nice, but a little too cozy. Food was good, we spent close to $80 per person, but it did not seem worth it. One of the people in our party ordered the risotto and commented that it was too spicy and lacked flavor. The cocktails were good, Food was good but not what the price.
John Bernardo
The food was great and the service was attentive. We thought there was room for improvement on the Mac and cheese. Also our service was a bit too on top of us. We felt like our server was trying to hang out with us despite our brief answers to their questions. We also didn't effort to extend the conversation. We're friendly and everything but we like some space too. We'll let you know if we need anything or have questions about the menu, the city of Seattle or whatever else. Otherwise a very positive experience.

Perfect little restaurant for a date night! Small cozy atmosphere with great local options and delicious cocktails. Service is exceptional pricey but what isn't nowadays, it's definitely worth the splurge!

Zoe, the bartender, was amazing! We sat at the bar and she was very attentive, made amazing drinks, and always had a good story to tell. The food was to die for, small portions but packed with flavor. Zoe definitely made the experience top notch!!

We went heavy with our appetizers as the entrées were not impressive or attempted. Last time I visited 6-7 mos ago, we had amazing dinner but recent updates are not meeting the expectations. Appetizers were great, oysters are the best ones. I would go for a lite grab next time. Service staff was great, ambiance is great, but $80/person? I am not so sure. It was definitely not worthy of that much $$$!! 😆
Emma Butler
Had an amazing dinner here, from the food to the service and to the overall vibe — everything was dynamite.
The striped sea bass ceviche special was🔥, such a perfect balance of acidity and freshness. The charred octopus was up there with some of the best I had, while the steelhead was paired beautifully with wheat berries (a new eat for me) and the duck confit fried rice was something I’d order again in a heartbeat.
When the wine we ordered was discovered to be sold out, our server had another recommendation at the ready — which we probably enjoyed more than our original request — love that!
If you’re in the area and in the mood for perfectly balanced, fresh, delicious plates, you have to go here!
Rebecca Collins
Absolutely delightful! Great date night spot. Treat yourself to some amazing seafood! Loved the grilled octopus, salmon, & scallops (perfect sear)! Would recommend to anyone looking for a romantic or fun dining experience. Definitely don’t skip dessert.
Chris Friedemann
Great restaurant. Modern, inviting space. Great servers and service. Wonderful cocktail that was a Oaxacan riff on a Last Word. Food was outstanding. Grilled octopus was super tender and flavorful. I normally don't get a steak at a place like this, but had a need for a carnivore fix and went with their ribeye. Man, I wasn't disappointed! The grillmaster ensured it came out perfectly cooked. Loved the accompanying sauces & veggies.
Great place - highly recommended!

This place had everything we could ever want in a restaurant: friendly service, good food, and a nice atmosphere. My friend and I were looking for a decent place that was open after 5 near Pike Place Market and Shaker + Spear fit the requirement nicely.
We walked in and were seated at the bar. I ordered the ribeye and the my friend ordered the scallops. The sauce the ribeye was in was absolutely delicious, and the meat in combination with the asparagus and mushrooms was so satisfying. The scallops were also perfectly cooked and seasoned well. Both meals really hit the spot and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is near the market.

First evening in Seattle. I actually had gone for climate pledge Coldplay show and was walking around the evening I arrived and it went from mild to windy raining and I was trying to find anyplace to grab a meal and I am sure satisfied that I was welcomed with no reservation and the staff/food/and Espresso Martini ooh. I must go back. Friendliest city by far I've had the privilege to visit. Entire visit on point COLDPLAY!Space needle. I love you Seattle!
Nikki Lee
My party was able to make a reservation in advanced and I highly recommend you do so as well. The staff were very professional and we were well taken care of during our whole visit. We ordered a bunch of different items; some notable mentions are the truffle parmesan fries, pan seared salmon , and devil's food cake.
Rachael Rhodes
Shaker + Spear was recommended to us by a friend and this restaurant was absolutely amazing! The drinks were delicious and the entrees are even better!!! We did not have a reservation and had to wait a bit but not long! I would recommend a reservation as it was very busy and you don't want to miss this place! Perfect for a date night dinner!
Adam Green
Such an amazing experience. Great service, terrific food/drinks and a wonderful vibe. Was our "fancy" dinner during our trip to Seattle and it in no way disappointed. In fact, greatly exceeded any expectations we may have had. Thanks again!
JONATHAN POTTER
Shaker + Spear exudes a warm ambience and was a great environment for five of us to share a fun evening. Our server was both helpful and fun. The standard of all our dishes was outstanding. The octopus starter stood out, as did the scallop and steelhead mains. Drink was great. Perfect!

Executive Chef Jay Donahue (and friends) have created an amazing dining experience in an area that is tough to beat - but they have done it. During a weekend getaway vacation from Oregon, we sat at the counter in front of an open kitchen. In short, as I said - an amazing dining experience. Jay literally oversees every dish that goes out of the kitchen. I am not kidding, every dish - he has to approve it. And if it's not the way he expects, he adds or subtracts from it. The taste of the hanger steak I had was stellar, and the halibut my lady had, was equally so.
Likewise, our service from Aarianna was also attentive (but not overly so) and she explained everything on the menu without being asked. When we first sat down, she asked if we had been there before, and when we said 'no', she responded - "oh, you are in for a treat." Wow, was she right!
Is there a rating higher than 5 stars? Highly recommended!
Teresa Mitchell (Teresa Enca)
We sat at the bar and Zoe took such great care of us. She was so sweet and helpful. We had an amazing conversation with her. We will definitely be going back during this trip and asking to sit at the bar again!
The restaurant itself is such a great place for date night. Very intimate and the food was amazing!

The clams are soooo good here! Aaron, the bartender is so good at his craft! Duck and octopus balls were ok.
Adam Hochstein
Great locally sourced food. Farm to table with a unique take on classics.
Carlos Burns
Chefs 👩🍳 and bartenders did a excellent job. Oysters, champagne, and fresh fish 🐟 oh my.

Food was great and the staff was fantastic. Cocktails and the food was really good. Everyone at the table really enjoyed all their meals.

Had a good experience here. The service is really great on a Sunday night when they’re not too busy. They have a smaller menu, but everything is very well thought out and produced. All of the fish tasted extremely fresh, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The portions were a little bit small, even the large plates you probably could’ve eaten two of. But all of the flavors made it worth the price. Highly recommend the steelhead and the huckleberry dessert. If you’re just doing two entrées would definitely recommend getting an appetizer or sharing a couple of small plates in addition.
Dayna Hudgin
The food and service were wonderful. I’d like to give it 3.5 because their prices are a bit inflated. $41 for four scallops, no matter how perfectly cooked and wonderfully paired with delightful accompaniments, is a bit stiff. The other dish definitely not worth ordering are the Parker House rolls. Theirs were dense instead of being pillowy bites of heaven. It’s clear the menu has been artfully developed to showcase local seafood and veg… each bite is a thoughtful blend of flavors. Their cocktails and mocktails were inventive and excellently crafted. We just thought their dishes were all on the small side and a few bucks more than their competitors.

Where hipster meets exceptional cuisine, Shaker + Spear is an experience worth going out of your way for. From the service to the food, I was personally blown away. Albeit, I wasn't expecting much, the food was actually interesting, creative, departing from simple concepts--adding a refreshing unique flare. For starters, I had the "Salties” Salt Cod Beignets & Salsa Verde". I would liken it to hush-puppies with green salsa. Simple yet tasty. Going into the entree, I don't know why, but the burger really caught my attention. It seemed a bit out of touch with the other items and really stood out. I knew it must be worth a try if it made the menu. Boy was I right! This is likely one of the best sandwiches I've had! Towards the end of the meal, our server also brought us a liquor to try which was unique to the venue. It was a small touch that really made the service stand out. It was the perfect finish to our meal. From the refined aesthetics of the restaurant to the food and service, this was a 10/10 in every category. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

So glad they’re re-opened. Had a fantastic meal (arguably the best I’ve had in Seattle) for a party of three consisting of an appetizers of the grilled octopus, cauliflower curry fritters, and truffled fries, and three mains: the scallops, steel-head salmon, and bouillabaisse. Absolutely no complaints. Perfectly attentive server (Mitchell). Already want to go back there. Great cocktails too.
Elizabeth Sperry
Ben was awesome server. Had a good team assisting with plates. Food was uniquely delicious!
Max Bolingbroke
Dishes ranged from excellent to decent. The sauce on a couple of them was on the salty side, and 1/2 of our halibut was overcooked. On the positive side, the pulpo croquettes with tuna flake were to die for, and the grilled salmon was well executed and served with some deliciously prepared quinoa. Our dessert (a deconstructed raspberry crumble) didn’t improve on the classic recipe.
Evaluated on food quality alone this would be a 4* place, but marking them down 1* for being a bit on the pricey side.
Hans Kraeger
Quality seafood. Sides are made to be more aesthetic. Great atmosphere!

When you walk in, the modern and luxurious interior design welcomes you. We got a table at the basement level, it’s a pretty dining space that gives you more privacy. Seafood Chorizo Paella was fantastic that it has generous amount of shrimps, clams and scallop. I was afraid that this is just some fancy place whose food isn’t really that great, but it turned out that the food was impressive and had pretty presentation that I will definitely revisit here again. Btw, the dessert is also unforgettable.

I’m giving this place 3 stars bc most of the food tasted good (don’t get the salmon …it’s bland). The server was very attentive and provided great customer service. The place is very overpriced especially for the quantity of food you get…very small portions for the price… I left hungry. Don’t get me started on the $13+ surcharge on the check…tried asking what this was for and was bounced around by the employees when i tried to get an answer as to what the surcharge was for and ended up getting some random nonsense excuse for an explanation that made absolutely no sense whatsoever…lack of transparency left a bad taste in our mouths, won’t be back for this reason.

We came here for our friends birthday and overall the experience was amazing. Our server Mitch was on point, he took great care of us the entire time.
Several of us got the drinks and the were good but seemed expensive for what we got, they didn’t seem very strong. I would say stick to the beer or wine.
The truffle fries are a must!!!
I have the restaurant 4 starts because there is nothing here for vegetarians!!!

High quality culinary experience. Graduation dinner or anniversary type dinner place.

Food is very good, though a bit on the spendy side for portion sizes. Had the charred octopus which was delicious, the diver scallops were cooked perfectly and accompanied by a refreshing and summery veg mix, and the Mac n cheese. M&C was very creamy with a crunchy top, but the cheese flavor was imperceptible (tasted like plain bechamel sauce, but was still good). Service was superb--everyone from host, to busser, to bartender & servers were friendly, prompt and helpful. Would definitely go again, though the price point would make it a rarity.
Nathan Iglesias
The service was very friendly and attentive. The patio seating is pleasant, but a bit loud right at the intersection of two busy streets (I get it, covid... We make concessions) -and I'm grateful they offered outdoor seating. The food was solidly ok, but I had higher expectations based on other reviews I read. The prices are predictable given that it is still upscale dining (but not stuffy). I wouldn't go back, but only due to the food.
Ben Jams
Dinner met my expectations... barely. I came here last Wednesday for dinner and ordered the oysters, truffle parm fries, scallops, and octopus. All four items were flavorful and most of it was finely crafted. However, some of the sauces in the dishes didn't seem to complement the item that well and some of the dishes were quite salty..... I'm not some elite foodie or anything but I was a bit confused by the tastes. Overall, pleasant experience and I wouldn't mind eating here again but it would definitely not be my first choice.

Very unfortunate experience. We loved the atmosphere and our main waitress was awesome, the food was outstanding, very well presented and and cooked to perfection BUT too bad “the dessert waiter” a server that comes out of nowhere would offer us a tequila shot that would go very well with our dessert, just to find out that all he wanted was to sell us $15 a glass tequila shot. Very shady way of doing business that ruins the whole experience of an overall great restaurant
Jackson Teal
Made a reservation on OpenTable. This place has great aesthetics and amazing food. We came for brunch and had the banana pancakes and shrimp & chorizo paella as well as mimosas. Both meals were incredible. Great service and great separation and precautions for covid. We parked on the street around the corner.
Joe Carberry
Our server, Ben was very kind, helpful, and funny and helped walk us through his personal favorites and suggestions. The presentation was very nice for the scallop dish, and the desserts were very creative.
Amanda Ith
The foods were delicious, BUT it's like a tease because the portions were soooo small. The charred octopus is to die for, but for $23 you get one tentacle, ONE. $7 house rolls, sure, now everyone charges for bread, but $7 for TWO rolls the size of Hawaiian rolls?? The scallops was the best value because there were 4 decent size scallops AND a bed of risotto, woohoo! Now the ducks two way...you may want to sit down for this, you get 2 pieces of ducks and they are the size of two fingers. 3 bites each, 6 bites later your $42 is gone.
My husband and I have been to fancy upscale restaurants, this place while the foods were good the value just isn't there for the prices. You have been warned, level your expectation now. Oh to help you all out there is a McD 2 blocks from there, and I'm a lot of us would need to stop by after eating here.
Jaison John
I got the Char Boiled Burger and it was good. The side order of parmesan-truffle fries were really good! Our food came out a little late and they gave us a discount because of it. Good service overall.
Cameron Doggett
The restaurant is in a great location right by Pike Place Market, our server was very friendly, energetic and great overall. The scotch olives were delicious but a little small. The shaker burger was good but closer to medium well than the medium rare I asked for. The coullette steak was wonderful and so was the shrimp and corn pudding that came with it. Price wasn't too bad. Main complaint is how close the tables were to each other. The table next to us was very close and we could fully hear each others conversations. At one point the couple next to us even interjected into our conversation that they heard.
Sunny Hsu
Delicious fresh seafood (Pacific West coast Cuisine) in Seattle downtown with a friendly casual setting. The food quality, preparation, service and staff interactions are all well worth the money charged. Reservation recommended, as restaurant is always full. Highly recommended for people who enjoy food at its finest with friends or family, and appreciate the service the restaurant team exhibits.
I will definitely return both for the food and the people 😀

The food made my taste buds dance at first glance. Mouth watering deliciousness. Some of the best melt in your mouth scallops I've ever tasted.
The curry cauliflower mild but tasty.
The entire experience was perfect. Well managed staff.

We were wondering where to go last minute on a Friday night. We called our local favorite places and most were booked and with a wait line for the bar. We went to Shake + Spear and they were able to fit us at the bar pretty fast.
The food is very very good. We had the octopus, fish beignets, and the fish. Everything was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. We also enjoyed a couple of drinks.
The service made it a lovely Friday night out for us and we were able to relax from a busy week. We will definitely come back as sea food is one of my favorites. But let me tell ya, that burger they were serving, it’s on my list for next time we visit.

I've now been here three times, and there is no denying this is a great restaurant. For a hungry diner, this is a bit on the pricey side due to its small portion tasting menu.
That being said, you can always come to this restaurant when you want something creative, unique and local to deliver delicious, well presented food and a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It is great for dates, birthdays, or just a group of friends; sharing dishes is a great way to encourage socializing, and this place makes food that is easily worth the price, especially considering the dining that the rest of Seattle has to offer. The staff is helpful, engaging and knowledgeable.... What else can I say?
I will definitely be returning

This restaurant is connected to a Kimpton Palladian Hotel. The inside was bigger than it seemed from the outside. They had nice relaxing seating at the back, with all sorts of displays, neatly lined up on the shelves.
They only had one server, who was really nice and helpful. While he was taking an order from a table with a group, a manager noticed we were waiting to place our order, and came right over. Nice to see that the management would willingly step up to support.
We had Greek Lamb Meatballs, Salt Cod Beignets, and B.L.A.S.T. with fries upgraded to Truffle Parmesan Fries. All the dishes were quite tasty, we enjoyed every bite! The sandwich was much bigger than I thought it would be, which was great since we were sharing.
We enjoyed all the dishes, so we decided to push our luck with a dessert. We chose Warm Salted Pistachio Crumble. It had loads of pistachio everywhere, on top, spread around the cake, and in the inside of the cake too! Great and rich flavor, we loved it!
It was indeed a pleasant lunch. The services a bit slow since there was only one server the entire time, but he was polite, friendly, and helpful. The manager also helped out here and there. The lunch menu was interesting, but I saw they have even more interesting menu for dinner, I would like to try some of their fantastic dinner offering the next time I visit Seattle!
Josh Hansen
Amazingly prepared dishes, great decor and ambience. Shared 5 courses, for 75 total. Everything was cooked perfectly, the octopus was our favorite, fork tender and tasted fantastic. Mains and entrees were 5/5, dessert (Pistachio Crumble?) was the only let down, it was good, just not incredible.
LA
This just became my new favorite spot in Seattle: amazing seafood, great service and average-range price.
For dinner, I was originally taken aback because I couldn't understand most of the ingredients but our waiter was very helpful in recommending the dishes and we pretty much ordered whatever she mentioned. The foods turned out to be absolutely amazing. We ordered:
OYSTERS, MIGNONETTE + CELERY 1/2 DZ: the oyster are so sweet, fresh and mixed well with the mignonette.
CHARRED OCTOPUS, HAZELNUT ROMESCO + BROCCOLINI: probably my least favorite, nothing really stood out and imo it does not go too well with the hummus-like sauce.
WHOLE SNAPPER, BASIL, LIME + LEMONGRASS: this is the bomb, I highly recommend it. The presentation of this dish with a whole crunchy fish was cool too.
ARCTIC CHAR, POTATO GRATIN, BRAISED LEEK, CAPER, OLIVE + PARSLEY: this is the second bomb lol. I've never tried arctic char before but the taste and texture is very salmon-like.
CHICKEN & DUMPLINGS, PEAS + WILD MUSHROOMS
COULOTTE STEAK, SHRIMP SCAMPI, ASPARAGUS & CORN PUDDING
MAC + CHEESE
Drinks we ordered:
JOHNNY UTAH'S DAY AT THE BEACH
NATHANIEL LOVES HIS JOB: if you're a citrus fan, you'd love it!
RAMBLING ROUTE, APPLE YAKIMA, WA: cider is on the sour/dry side.
Desserts we ordered:
LEMON MERINGUE PIE-SCREAM SUNDAE
COCONUT PANNA COTTA
BOOZY CHERRY & CHOCOLATE POT DE CRÈME: this dish surprised us with a level of chocolate powder. Definitely recommend if you like chocolate.
Rik Brown
Wonderful food. Perfectly cooked octopus and scallops and delicious truffle fries. Excellent and friendly service too.

I love this place!! Sat in front of open kitchen. Really interesting to watch them cook and you can talk to the chef! He gave us a sample of paella to try!! Staff were really nice and friendly. Food was amazing! Paella was soo good, clams & bread went well together, and rockfish was so delicious. I personally didn't really like the chowder because it taste like and have consistency of potato soup. Would definitely come back again!!!
Dana Cretu
Phenomenal. Love the ambiance, the decor (look for unicorns.. seriously they're hidden), the food (!!!), and definitely the staff. I believe our waiters name was Mitch if i heard him correctly and he was so professional and yet so easy going and really made us laugh. He was very considerate and made us feel special. As we gabbed away throughout dinner, the staff didn't skip a beat, and the service was seemless. It didn't even occur to us most of the time that they were prepping for the next course or changing out our silverware. The menu was so hard to choose from so we all got different items and had fun tasting from each other. Love this place. Thank you for the wonderful evening!
Garrett N.
Nice selection of seafood dishes and appetizers and a friendly staff. We shared a few appetizers for the table including the charred octopus and clams with fennel sausage, both of which were delicious. For the entrees, we enjoyed the branzino, the paella, and the crusted rockfish. Excellent seafood all around.

Great dinner with a wonderful menu, taste and presentation. However the warm and exuberant staff were the highlight of the evening and genuinely cared about making the meal a pleasant one. I would highly recommend for the atmosphere too.

Ariana was an attentive server.. atmosphere was great. Pear cocktail was amazing, as were the clams in miso and baratta

Our family had a great time at S+S. our mother was in town and she wanted some NW Seafood and S+S was one of the only ones left open a little later and they were able to squeeze in a table of 5 for us! We had a couple starters including the oysters (YUM) and we all had various entrees and concluded with the Amaretto cake with cherry ice. We'll definitely be back!
Nicola
Nice design and interiors. Great breakfast menu. The crab cakes benedict and the blueberry ricotta pancake were amazing. Omelette okay. Capuccino pretty bad.
The service was very slow and they did a couple of mistakes but they apologize and also give a big discount. They deserve another shot on that.

Wow, what can I say about Shaker + Spear. Right from the start we were greeted with a smile and the mood was set. After being seated we were immediately presented with an extensive drink menu and were introduced to our server, Rose. Rose was extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, and obviously passionate about the restaurant and the food. She assisted us with everything we needed, including being extremely accommodating of a food allergy. The food itself is outstanding. The menu is laid out as a series of small plates, with a small but interesting collection of entrees. The seafood is cooked to perfection and the Rosemary popovers were some of the best I've ever had. Overall, Shaker + Spear is somewhere I would recommend to anyone visiting Seattle.
Carla Galland
This place is great! It has a great feel to it despite being small. Due to the space, it feels really loud but it helps keep conversations private. The staff was extremely friendly an knowledgable and the food was fantastic.
I usually cook seafood at home beacause seafood at restaurants are too often overcooked, overseasoned or completely bland. This place was anything but. Flavors were well balanced and cooked perfectly. It wasnt standard fare either. The dishes were creative and adventurous. The wine and beer list was extensive and well thought out. I would definitely recommend this for a nice date night.
Andrew Landis
Huge wins and some misses. Lets start backwards with dessert.... ALL off the desserts we got were amazing! Nutella Chocloate, a pistachio dessert, the lemon sundae.... all of it amazing! I would come back just for dessert.
The halibut was cooked perfectly! However the garnishments were too much. There was olive on top that over powered the fish which I took off. The chef did such a great job cooking the fish it stood on its owe.
Shrip was wonderful as an appetizer, but i would not get the cod bennetts again.
Edward Amartey-Tagoe
We liked the experience and atmosphere. A good place to have a date or just eat solo. We sat by the bar and had a great view of everyday people just on the streets of Seattle.
Staff were very friendly and professional. I found the food portions to be small for the money we paid.
Scott U
Brunch was amazing. Started with the apple fritters and had the crab benedict. Hollandaise perfectly balanced, ham and advocado with two expertly poached eggs. Home fried potatoes well cooked and seasoned.
The service and décor were both warm and inviting. All around great experience.
Daniel Tasman
Date night ambiance in the heart of Seattle. Fried snapper in lime and basil, lamb meatballs with yogurt, smickles (smelt and dill pickles), scallops... It's fusion so there is a little bit of everything. P.S. the drinks are fantastic cocktails as well as a large selection of micro brew craft beer and wide selection of wines. Make a reservation!
Emma Li
Very good service with excellent food. Every dish we ordered is amazing. The chef is very friendly as well. This shop is definitely worthwhile to explore.
Lucas Duffey
The pistachio crumble was pretty exotic and tasty. I personally wouldn't get the lamb ragout again, it was pretty bland.
The second time I went took about 20 minutes to get the food. Smoked trout had a really nice flavor but was filled with pinbones. Crab cake Benedict was good
Yash Dalal
Came here for brunch and had some delicious food and a great time. Very cool atmosphere and lovely space to hang out for a while. Try to get a reservation though cause this place gets booked out.
jonathan pizanti
I had a great business event here with a few out of town colleagues. The service was on point and the staff was very attentive. The cocktails were beautifully made, especially the whiskey sours (ask for The Sexton). The octopus, NY strip, and fried olives are a must! There is definitely something for everyone on this menu. I would definitely recommend Shaker + Spear for any business or pleasure culinary adventure.
Chris F
I remember coming here a while back and loving my meal and tonight I was able to reaffirm those memories. Every dish we've every tried here has been an absolute hit. From the popover to the smickles to the broccolini, every bite was delicious but my favorite side might have been the Ginger Brussel Sprouts. I got the Arctic Char for my entree and would wholly recommend it. Great service by our server Mitch really made the night special for our family.
John Shearer
Get together with friend at this hip Seattle joint. Valet ran by hotel was a fail but not associated with restaurant. The staff enthusiastic and knowledge about the entrées and menu. We brought wine and champagne and they had a reasonable corkage fee.
Good place to socialize; too loud to meet for business or serious matters.
Hector Chong
Really great food and ambience. Service was excellent. Must try for anyone who loves seafood. Oh don't forget to leave some space for their dessert. No regrets.
Christian TQ
Great seafood. Some dishes sounded better than they tasted, but overall great ingredients prepared well. Would definitely go back to try the rest of the menu.
Adrian Alonso
Everything was on point. The brunch menu options were good. We had the frittata and the eggs Benedict and both were delicious. Service was fast, attentive and professional. Definitely a very good place to go for your weekend brunch wether you are staying or not at the hotel.
Arthur Nen (Tuka)
Coffee and food were very good, with a large selection to mix and match egg styles and sides.
The wheat English muffin was amazing, toasted to perfection on the grill.
The service was also outstanding, very attentive to details and on more than one occasion they got me what I wanted without me having to ask.
Caylin Lancione
Hospitality was absolutely over the top. Warm, welcoming, excited about what they do and to share it with you as their guests. Try as much as you can, everything on the menu is a SOLID option. Went for the octopus, a dozen oysters, salmon tartare and the Brussels, among others.
Wine list was fantastic and our bartender and managers came together to put together the perfect pairings for our evening.
Harout Boyajian
Stopped here at random. Was told that it was a hidden Gem of a restaurant in Seattle. Very true. It was a small nicely decorated spot. The servers are truly great. Very friendly and attentive. I only give it 4 stars and not 5 because of the lunch menu being a little sparse. I wish it had more seafood ;) But i had fish n chips, which was excellent. Total was $17usd (did not get drinks).
Winnie Walter
Our waiterress were friendly and professional. However, the oysters weren't shucked properly. We ordered half a dozen of Shingoku oysters, but none of them were freed from the shells. The oysters were holding firmly to the inside of the bottom shells, making it difficult to eat.
We also had scallops and octopus, both were cooked perfectly. And the final course, pistachio crumble was delightful.
Feras Khatib
Sooooooo delicious and worth the cost! Our server (unfortunately couldn’t remember her name) was the best! She was so attentive and fun. Really made our experience even better.
Daniel Klass
Shaker + Spear was my first meal in Seattle and it was absolutely phenomenal. My experience motivated me to take my wife here for her birthday after that. Those were certainly less stressful times than we are currently in.
Now that takeout and delivery are the only options, I’m happy that we can enjoy a leisurely cooking-free evening at home with some delicious food and a lovely wine pairing from one of our favorite places.
5/5 stars would recommend!

This place is awesome!!! Order the octopus for appetizer, paella for entree and pot de creme for dessert and you will not regret it. Ask Kayla for recommendations for drinks!!! She knows her stuff and you'll love everything she brings ya
dayveeman
We always enjoy dining here. Stopped for a bite before a show and were not disappointed. Everything was excellent and the service was great.
B Dawn
Lydia is the best and she recommended the best dishes with the wine and we can’t wait to go back! Wine pairing with our food was the best
Jasmine Graeber
The food was so good. The cod was easy the best piece of fish I have ever eaten. They were very accommodating, as I accidentally came to my reservation early.
If you get the clams, I recommend you ask for an extra bread, as the sauce is stunning and you won't want to lose any of it.
Avigail was amazing. They were so attentive. This will definitely be an anniversary staple going forward!
Darian Noll
The food was outstanding we went for 2 appetizers and 2 mains for the two of us and the food was very filling. I would argue this is one of the few perfect restaurants in Seattle. Outstanding food, attentive staff, good drinks, clean and intimate atmosphere, good music. Overall great. Also Abigail (our server) crushed it all around 5star experience.
Wilson Lin
We had breakfast here today, and we loved a few things about it but there was an issue. The service was good, the food was good, Nate our bartender/server was great. However there was a whole issue with our Canadian Driver License and our NEXUS issued by the USA not being accepted as valid ID. So we had to get our passports from the car which was with the valet. The big problem we had wasn't the rule itself but how it was executed. We were asked if we wanted to sit at the bar and if we were over 21. We said yes. The hostess took us to the bar, where we showed ID and ordered a drink then only after were told that our Driver Licence wasn't okay. I think if the hostess checked ID as we were at the front, we would have either gone and got the passport and not have to sit at the bar and deal with this for 10 minutes where we already were seated, or we may have just gone somewhere else because we stopped here just for a quick bite and drink before we headed out.
Though I don't know why it seems only Kimpton (we were told) has a policy of not accepting Canadian driver licences or NEXUS ID as valid ID when NEXUS's act as our passport if we are traveling to and within the USA and most Canadians wouldn't be traveling with their passports if they have their NEXUS. (Though it was perfectly fine to use that instead of my passport to check in?)
Either way, the food and drinks are good, staff for the most part were good. However I just think that they should be checking for ID's at the front to avoid all this.
Kanjunac Gregga (Kanji)
It's a cute and cozy space with a fun and delicious menu. Comes off as very classy and sophisticated and completely approachable without being intimidating. Loved the cocktails and crab scotch eggs.
B JM
This was a food highlight for our trip to Seattle and one of my all time ultimate brunches - salt cod beignets followed by dungeness crab cake benedict, washed down with a couple of mimosas... need I say more!
Binit Banerjee
This was a nice place with a good spread. I had the steak not the best one I have had but certainly makes the top 5. My wife took the halibut and it was very tasty, definitely recommend people to try that.
Olga Gladunyak
Lovely place to have dinner !! All dishes tasted delicious and fresh!! Service is caring and helpful!! Highly recommend to have dinner here!! Thank you guys for such delicious food and thoughtful service!!
Matt Black
I'm not a big foodie person. I thought the meal and appetizers were incredible and it wasn't so much food that I felt unwell. Incredible service and a great atmosphere.
Patrick Walker
Look out Seattle restaurants, you have some amazing competition in town. The food is so damn good here and the attention to dietary detail is commendable. The bar tenders have always been approachable and intelligent; knowledgeable on both food and their drinks, and able to communicate such. You will find a new age interpretation of mainly fish here but land animals as well to go along with classic and innovate cocktails. If you can, sit at the bar, pick the brain of the bartender, and watch the culinary magic happen.
Mark Lin
The seafood is very fresh and delicious. The bread is special, mix two kind of taste included toste and pancake. The enviroment is clean and good feeling. It's very good quality restaurant.
Anubhav Bhatia
Cute little establishment, excellent service, and even better food. Highly recommend almost everything on the menu especially the mac and cheese, trufflle fries, whole snapper, seafood paella and the desserts.
Angela Korneev
Not worth the hype. Our server Ben was great, but the food was overpriced. They charged us for water, which is ridiculous for how much we paid.
Chris Schnee
I recommend Shaker and Spear to everyone. Not only because I work there, but the food is great and staff are friendly and professional. It is right in the middle of Bell town Seattle and 2 blocks from the waterfront. The Hotel Kimpton/Palladian is beautifuly redone and each room is different.
Tetiana Gavryshko
Overhyped. You can find better for cheaper.
The food was just ok, desserts were interesting and drinks&beer were good.
The interior is nice. I loved their plates.
Alex Fadeev
Great seafood destination Seattle. Particularly entertaining if you grab a seat at a dining bar overlooking the kitchen and observe meals getting grilled, sliced, tossed, and played in front of you! Can be crowded, so make reservations in advance.
Angel Latterell
Extremely nice staff. Cook's counter a must. Food very well executed. Not overly priced for the quality of Seattle high end seafood.
Yury R
Mediocre food.
Octopus is too fishy.
Burned burger.
Sad.
K Aerie
Great brunch food!! Kinda a hidden spot in downtown, but worth the find! The kitchen staff was "new" according to our waitress, thus he forgot to put the crab on our Benedict. But she gave us extra! :) So all is good. Best eggs Benedict I've had in a while!
Joe Gorzka
One of the hallmarks of a great restaurant is the wait staff, and Shaker + Spear does NOT disappoint!!! Ben and Nate took wonderful care of my wife and me. Their suggestions were spot on, and everything was outstanding! I believe the rating for this hidden gem is WAY too low. Go and you enjoy, you will NOT be disappointed!!! THANK YOU BEN AND NATE!!!!
Le Andra Madalena
Chef’s kiss! Delicious food
Josep Valls
The server boasted about their name coming from spearfishing and how it represents seafood in the northwest yet their lunch menu was very disappointing in terms of seafood. Got the prawns (at $4 a piece) which were just OK, slightly undercooked (better under than over but not everyone's taste) and drenched in oil. The parm fries were extremely oily as well and the truffle oil was not great either.
Overpriced and pretty generic seafood with very little representation of what they claim to be.
kendale sanford
This restuarant was amazing. Our server Ryan was amazing in explaining the menu to us. Would recommend this restuarant to anyone
Carolyn Cianfarani
I had the scallops, husband had the smash burger. Not worth the price on either. French fries were good.
Lacey
Breakfast potatoes are good but their hollandaise sauce on their benedict needs work. Not enough lemon to cut the richness and very pale in color - and there was too much of it. Friendly staff, cute atmosphere.
Jing Jing Long
Delicious food. Classy decor. Crab Benedict might be best I ever had.
Márcio André
It is a interesting restaurant. They serve well elaborated dishes, good sides and have a pleasant romantic atmosphere. Waiters were atencious and efficient. My suggestion is that they could put pictures on the menu in order to make it easier to guess what the plate is.
Dan Hoang
Sitting at the counter is a great place for a date. The cooks make good small talk and explain the ingredients and really make for a great experience in addition to the excellent food. All the dishes have great presentation.
I B
Good food, good vibe and good wine. Like their selection of wine and special menu, scallop and arigula salad. Definitely worth to visit and great place to spend time with important one.
ja kim
The miso black cod was AMAZING!! You have to give it a try. The scallops were good, but compared to the black cod it wasn’t that impressive. The charred octopus was tasty as well. Our server Jennifer was very attentive and friendly. Overall we had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to go back:)
Kallie Bjerke
Best clams, truffle fries, cheesecake and lattes we’ve ever had! Highly recommend!
Brian Thomas
Delightful, classy, restaurant with well prepared food and friendly and attentive staff. We didn't have reservations and were able to sit at the bar which was fine and gave us a nice street view for people watching, but I definitely recommend reservations.
Sean Novak
just stopped by in for a quick drink and desert, it was pretty good. more importantly the service was amazing, my waitress savannah was really helpful and made sure I had everything I needed. would definitely recommend asking for her as a server next time!
David Costanza
Torn between 4 and 5. The food was solid to very good, service was excellent, prices were a bit high given the above. The scallops were excellent but the octopus fritters didn't really work and the veggies were overly charred. Decent wines by the glass but wow, $$$. Call it 4.5.
Doug Jodts
Our dishes were great. Mine was a bit salty and that's coming from someone who loves salt! I've only visited once so could have been a fluke. I would happily return. Great service. Also, really likes the layout of the restaurant and bar where we sat prior to being seated.
Brad Harris
Was happy to get a seat at the upstairs longue without a reservation. Very pleasant waitress there. Cocktails were very good if perhaps a bit slow coming out. Oysters were great but a bit overpriced for what you get, but on the flip side, the hamburger and truffle fries were a delicious value. Smart casual was the attire, we were under dressed, but still treated well. Seemed to have a decent crowd.
Albert Huang
Food itself is good. But taking two points off because of its tiny portion size and the quality is not at what I expect given the high price.
Brittany C. Gillingham
Not one to leave reviews often, but I dined at Shaker + Spear tonight for a business meal and it was absolutely fantastic—the best meal I’ve had in Seattle after a week in town. The only thing better than the meal was the service; our server Ben was a delight—funny, knowledgeable, and attentive.
giovanni cebreros
The seafood flavor of the paella was pretty good. The place was smelling like garbage when we got in.
Julien Vanier
The seafood was fantastic. We ordered all appetizers for a tapas-style dinner. The grilled octopus was the best I ever tasted, so tended, not chewy at all. Even my kids loved it! All the seafood is responsibly sourced. The atmosphere was relaxing and the staff was great. An all-around 5 star experience.
Greg Bem
Very decent dining that probably is a little overpriced. We were sad that the oysters weren't available but enjoyed the greens and the burrata. The bread (two pieces) really should be complimentary or half the price. We had a bottle of orange wine that was incredible. Our mains, the steelhead and the cod, were delicious though portions were small. We weren't impressed with the dessert menu so skipped it. The service was top tier and the overall vibe was really great. Just wish something had stuck out so we could go back.
West Gill
Came for the clams, stayed for the lamb. Between four of us we managed to try five plates and each was better than the last. The lamb I, can't say enough about. It melted and I kept consuming more. The pairing of sweet potatoes and scallops was unreal and typically sweet potatoes do nothing for me. Ultimately the king salmon was only slightly above average, and that being said a dish I would order again.
Clams were amazing beyond reason. Ordering them is required. Beyond the food, the staff were excellent as well. It was a very busy night and they kept up, a great feat for the number of customers.
Very happy to have discovered shaker and spear. Highly recommend.
Jackie Merrill
For the price not worth it. The halibut was over cooked, dry, and lacking flavor. Scallops and oysters were good. Really $180 for dinner wasn’t quite what it should have been.
Anes Koushkbaghi
If you want have some fresh seafood, this is the place.
The food and drinks were on point. Highly recommend this place if you're visiting Seattle and want some good food.
pierre berthet
Truly delicious, and relaxed and relatively affordable. Scallops were fantastic. I sat facing the open kitchen and all the meals looked really great.
Nick Fraker
Shaker + Spear definitely know how to handle fish, which is good since it's their specialty. Bonus: a phenomenal cocktail menu and nice wine pairing choices.
Richard Aaronson
Had dinner here on our 50th anniversary. Restaurant was lively and service was good. The menu was limited.
WH Seo
The food was great but I think it’s a bit overpriced. It should be $20 something. A glass of wine is also too pricy ($7-9 is reasonable).
Ashley Gould
Come here for dinner and order the macaroni and cheese that’s hidden on the side dish menu - it’s the best thing they offer. I’ve also had the giant blueberry lemon pancake, which is essentially a giant muffin top.
Taz Bond
Absolutely amazing place, Cocktails especially the GT and the house burger gorgeous taste, thank you Heidi and Karen you're great!
Emily
Went for lunch and got scallops. Perfect small meal that was really tasty. Plus they had a Marlo Bundo book on the wall which amused me.
Rosalind Derks
Ryan and severing staff were absolutely delightful!
Our food was amazing so delicious. Scallops were done to perfection! Black Cod melted, in your mouth! The wine paired with it was outstanding. Be sure to order the white Casa Magoni 2020 or if you're not a lover of white the red Jardin Secreto 2019 is decadent California wine. Ryan is so knowledgeable of wines, and fine foods no wonder he is the General Manager of this most quaint restaurant.
Karen Chapman
The choice of oysters was outstanding. And taste was the best I have ever experienced.
ferial mhr
Nothing is left to share it was so good definitely recommend great food best service and beautiful place thank you
Thomas Olmstead
Newly moving to the area, I didn't know where to go for good food and atmosphere. My brother and I discovered Shaker + Spear by fortune and I couldn't be any happier. Everyone was completely welcoming and made for an incredible dining experience. Ariana displayed genuine care towards ensuring we had the best dining experience possible, but also caring that we received the best quality of care. Our first experience there was a lasting one that solidified us coming back thanks to her. I highly recommend Shaker + Spear!!!
Kaitlyn Eric
Had dinner here and found the food tasty, the service good and friendly and the atmosphere beautiful. We shared the beet and goat cheese salad, then Dungeness crab unchoke dip and then the paella. All delicious!
MaryAnn Bolte
We don't eat shellfish or things with tentacles, so we were limited. The lamb was incredible according to my husband and daughter. I had the vegetarian entree. Seasonings were perfect. I'd eat here again for sure.
Connor Limburg
Loved having Zoe as a bartender. Great steak and drinks. Highly recommend oysters and the raspberry desert
Brandon Titmus
Spectacular seafood, wonderful wine, and an excellent dessert. I'd been here once before and it was delicious, so I was hoping it would live up to the memory almost 18 months later and it met or exceeded that first time. Service was pleasant and attentive, and everything we had was delightful.
Jake Osowski
Food was great and very fresh. Bartender was friendly and had good recommendations. I had the crab cake Benedict
Jacqui Mount
Amazing and creative food, amazing service, not too expensive, good at birthday celebrations, I could go on, but really you should just go to Shaker and Spear.
John S.
Meh. Great waiter, decent atmosphere, food mediocre and inadequate quantity. The wine was the star of the evening. Very limited menu.
Che Stedman
This may be a bit unfair. Let's start with how my wife and I had already been to 2 (!) different, highly rated restaurants that were closed due to Covid and staffing issues. They were running lounges only, and serving apps.
Not what we wanted. We wanted a nice dinner, Covid be damned.
So we googled Shaker and Spear, they were open and close, and we went.
The restaurant is tidy and hip, nicely laid out. It's a wee noisy, but at least there were people in it, and they were busy.
Great start.
We order cocktails, salads, the Scallops and the Stealhead.
The Server recommends the asparagus, so we get that too.
Salads arrive, and they are well presented but dry.
Very dry.
I think they forgot to dress them!
We ask for a side of dressing, problem solved.
Quite good.
Cocktails...well...they are good. Just good. After being at two other cocktail lounges, they don't really hit the mark.
Still, it's fun, and they are good, so into dinner.
My scallops arrive, and it's a smaller plate. My wife's steelhead is the better choice.
I dive in to the lentils and they are...crunchy. Yes. Aldente lentils. Not a good thing. But the most amazing thing is the eggplant on my plate. I think it's roasted, with some seasoning. It's so bad I have to do the Napkin To My Mouth And Spit trick. Holy Awful!! It's so bad the cook should apologize to that poor eggplant. My wife sees my face, giggles, and tries it just because, well, misery loves company. Same reaction.
We laugh, and move on. The Scallops are perfectly cooked, but everything else on the plate is not fun.
Oof. Oh well.
The Stealhead is also perfectly prepared, on a bed of Bulgar Wheat, which is...undercooked! It's crunchy! Oh no! Again! At least her vegetables are good.
Oh! But the recommended asparagus? Excellent! Perfectly prepared.
All in all, not a bad time.
Not excellent either.
Alyssa Anderson
It was my first time here. The service was bomb and so was the food. It came out very quickly and tasted incredible.
Siobhan O'Connor
I can't say enough about this place. It's more than just a restaurant. The staff feels like a family and you feel it right when you walk in the door. The food is top notch and the attention to detail is extraordinary. Chef Jay is doing something special here!
MD
The burrata was amazing and the truffle fries are some of the best I've ever had.
Heather Angelica
We chose to stay here an hour to enjoy the air conditioning and the convenient space. I just want to say also that, in addition to a nice meal, we had a delightful waitress. She had just the right balance of friendliness and efficiency. She recognized that we wanted time to visit and she did not rush us. She and other staff members made certain that we had everything we needed. Great!
Julian Mejia
We ordered the charred octopus and the miso glazed black cod, both dishes were excellent. Food and ambience were excellent. Our server was very good too! Highly recommended restaurant
Michael Parker
What a night! Excellent concert + pineapple express brought us to S+S. I was looking forward to oysters, so that's where we started. Some of the freshest oysters I've had in a couple of years. The special was wagyu steak, which was amazing. My wife had the miso black cod, which was perfectly cooked and delicious. However the star of our first night out after covid was the bartender Will. His cocktails were some of the most balanced innovative cocktails I've had. We tried his Army of One, which was Will's riff on The Last Word. My wife had his Double Edged Sword, which was excellent. I finished up with his Dreaming of Oaxaca, which was a smoky dream. One of the best Mexcal cocktails I've had. It was a special night for us as our first night out after almost 2 years away from dining out.
Julissa Alvarado
The food is amazing and I recommend giving them a try when you can. They have an excellent menu and service staff are the best.
William Clemens
Everything is cooked perfectly and something on your plate will be the best of that you've had in awhile. Inside is moody and the service is very attentive. It feels classy but the window view is unsightly so I'd just try to get a spot further indoors.
Emma Morley
Delicious food, and a lively atmosphere! We ordered off the wine list and they unfortunately didn't have any of the bottles we were selecting... At that point we should have made the decision to switch to ordering a cocktail. Despite the wine list fiasco, I'm still giving it four stars for the great food, which came out hot and fresh and cooked perfectly. After dinner we ordered espresso and it tasted very burnt, which was unfortunate.
Jarod Jenkins
The food is amazing and the service is one of a kind. They have an awesome atmosphere going on too. And they have a really great menu too.
Stephen Harvey
What a fantastic experience. I popped in without a reservation on a Thursday evening. The place was packed but the host said he could find room. He directed me to the bar adjacent to the restaurant where I got a drink and waited for the table. The host promptly returned in the time he said and seated me. Had the beets, peanut shrimp, and scallops. All were AMAZING. The waitress was beyond cordial and gets credit for some of the nicest service I've ever gotten, anywhere. Definitely put this on your dining list when in Seattle.
Lisa Lindenfelser
Ben was the best server, and after an accidentally spilled drink, the management went above and beyond to make it right. Not to mention the AMAZING food!
Phuong Nguyen
dinner was awesome. our server was adrianna, who made the night for us. prompt, service with awesome attitude . Ryan, the gm, welcomed our table with open arms. I love the food and the atmosphere. Not the least, the constant rain of a Seattle evening was magical.
M H
The food was some of the best I’ve had! The decor was perfect as well. Our waiter, “James Bond”, was funny and charming. Best brunch hands down. Their spin on a mimosa is dangerously good and their cherry spruce butter is indescribable. Out of this world.
Jennifer Paine
We were only here for the weekend, and the front desk manager of our hotel recommended this restaurant. We were so impressed with our Friday night dinner that we also made reservations for Saturday! The food was amazing - particularly the Parmesan truffle fries! The drinks were phenomenal- one of the best cosmo’s of my life. Honestly. But what really did it is the service. The restaurant has been closed for COVID and everyone was clearly so excited to be back in business. We had fabulous conversation with Ryan, Josh, and Travis. If we lived here, we would come all the time! I highly recommend this restaurant- whether you’re coming for dinner or Just drinks and truffle fries!
Caylee Herrin
Not only what the food incredible and he service sincere, but the take-out presentation was truly comical! Thank you Shaker + Spear for a good laugh and great food.
Trina Miller
My partner and I went to Shaker + Spear to celebrate my birthday, and we had the best time. Our server, Robyn, made sure all our needs were met and even suggested incredible wine pairings with our meals! She was so friendly, prompt, and always attentive to our table. She made suggestions for what to order, and we absolutely loved everything (pro tip: order the octopus, it was the best I've ever tasted!) We cannot wait to return and try more of their dishes! Also, don't forget to try their desserts- the pistachio crumble was to die for!
Fred Wiesinger
Delicious and perfectly prepared salmon, seared on the outside and slightly rare on inside. We also had the scallops which were divine. The service was great despite it being a busy night.
Dee Coram
WOW! What a perfect evening. Amazing food, Devine Cocktails and service with an attention to detail. Adrianna our servicer is a delight! She guided us flawlessly through the menu! Do yourself an favor and check this Seattle spot out!
Becky Davis
Great well paired dishes. Good service, Rex. Fresh juice.
Mark Miller
Cool vibe, good food and great service. Can't ask for more.
Kelly Baker
My girlfriend and I grabbed take-out last night and what a wonderful experience all around. As I walked in I was immediately greeted by a friend staff working hard on all of the current orders. They had a number of hand sanitizers at the reception counter and everyone was wearing gloves for health and safety. Once I looked in our bag of food I noticed that it not only had our food but they included some candy, a thoughtful game card, and new roll of quality toilet paper! What an amazing idea!
We ordered the vegan meatballs and chopped salad and both of these dishes were fantastic, especially the meatballs for me and I am not vegan! This will be the first place we go once they open up for seating!
Sam O'Hara
I took a client here and was blown away by the food, ambiance and service. My waitress, Rose, was an absolute delight. Her knowledge of the menu and charisma alone, made for a lovely evening. I almost never leave reviews, but was so impressed by the food and especially Rose , that I felt compelled to provide this feedback. I will definitely be back and am looking forward to trying brunch! Kudos to you Rose!
Kim Lavoie
Portion was small, and didn't fill me up. The cook on the black cod was perfect though, and the flavors worked well together. Maybe they could add a puree of some type to make it more substantial.
Steve
The service was amazing, they found a way to seat us without reservations, and the service was top notch, the portions were good, shrimp 🍤 yum, salmon double yum 😋, dessert 🍨 triple yum🤤 …
Paul Muenzer
This might be the best restaurant in Seattle. Chef Jay, Ryan, Will, and Nate elevate this place from a great restaurant to an unparalleled sensory experience. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere make this a must-try for first timers and a lifelong repeat for the rest of us.
Kate McCarthy
Some of the BEST food I’ve ever eaten! Perfect plates with unique twists and delicious flavors. Shaker and Spear is all about quality and freshness. Definitely get the scallops, sassy peanut shrimp and the Arctic char! If you’re a Mac and cheese lover like me, you must order the mac and cheese prepared with cheddar cheese from Pike’s Market! For dessert, order the pistachio crumble, a truly unique and mouthwatering dessert! Our server Rose eloquently described the different plates with such detail, the food and the experience was so much better! Would love to visit again if I come back to Seattle!
Spencer Hutchins
Nice location and atmosphere. Service was good. Scotch Olives as appetizers, really no flavor. Wife had the braised short ribs and really like it, especially thought the sauce was very tasty. I had the Seafood Paella, which I thought didnt have much flavor.
Rachel Brackney
Went here for Sunday brunch/breakfast. Service was fantastic and the food came out really quickly. The wait staff were very attentive about filling coffee/water and even gave recommendations about things to do in the area.
The food is absolutely amazing - the truffle Parmesan fries and the crab cake eggs Benedict were spectacular! Everything tastes very fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is also very pleasant, you really don’t even realize it’s in a hotel. Will definitely be returning!
Don Lee
We dined here for our anniversary back in September and loved every dish. Though on first impressions, it has a metro hip, almost pretentious, vibe, I could not be more wrong, especially when it comes down to the food. We loved every bite.
Rick Slan
Very service oriented staff. While not many "by the glass" wine options, the selection was good. I had the scallops and they were done perfectly. Next time, I'll go for the seafood paella. For dessert, highly recommend the black currant sorbet.
Nick Ramon
Short Version: If the menu looks good to you, you will absolutely not be disappointed.
My Fiance and I were staying Downtown in Seattle, and after check-in were craving oysters a bit late, and lucked upon this place on a Thursday night, within walking distance. (Based on the menu and some pictures)
We sat at the Cook's Counter or whatever they call the bar in-front of the kitchen, and it was a fantastic experience. Cocktails and service were excellent, and we were able to sneak in questions to the cooks when they had a second. We ordered 4-5 apps/small plates as well as the steak and shrimp main. Will add pictures later.
We ended up returning for drinks and appetizers the next night with a friend and didn't order any of the same things and again enjoyed everything. Will absolutely recommend.
Stefanie Shosky
New favorite Seattle restaurant! Great food, and AMAZING service! Our waiter Nate was the best, so personable, and he made the best menu recommendations. My husband and I will absolutely come here again.

Fantastic experience! Very kind and knowledgeable staff. They made our anniversary feel special. Highly recommended for those celebrating a special occasion or seeking an upscale experience. Most other upscale restaurants look down on you and seem very pretentious, but that's not the case here at all. Looking forward to come back here next year. The way they made my significant other's day is priceless. No amount of tip or thanking will ever suffice. You'd be hard pressed to find another upscale restaurant that employs down-to-earth staff. Thank you again. It's not a huge menu, but they are extremely accommodating.
Laura Crain
The food was excellent along with the waitstaff! We throughly enjoyed our evening. Even the 10 year old picky eater loved it and that's saying something! We will definitely be back next time we are in Seattle.
Tristan James Butler
Food was outstanding. Service on point and friendly. Don't miss the octopus. Every dish a winner.
Lukas S
It was a very nice surprise. We live good food, and I would almost consider myself as not easy, but these guys put a lot of effort into it. We had the octopus (very very nice), there whole sea bass is super interesting and tasty so are the wines... It's not only a hotel restaurant , it has potential for more... Not cheap but super enjoyable (atmosphere and staff are great) it has a young and cool vibe.

I enjoyed my experience in this place. Went here for lunch with my friend and from the moment we walked in to the time we left, the service was pretty awesome. Everyone who works there were great especially Spencer who was very engaging and helpful...the way servers should always be. This is an example where the service aspect of a restaurant helps with the rating.
The ambiance is casual elegance, the noise level is normal and the food rating varies
Salmon tartare very good
Crab cake is just ok
I may return to try other stuff
Brian M
TL;DR Excellent ambiance and service, very enjoyable experience.
My wife and I had dinner and cocktails here this evening and had a great experience. Mitch was our server and was attentive, helpful, and answered all of our questions.
I ordered the steak and when it came out a little more cooked than I would have liked the staff worked very hard to make it right, going above and beyond what I expected.
The steak, cooked to my liking, was delicious and my wife enjoyed the Char. I asked Mitch to get creative with my drink and he definitely delivered, providing a well-balanced whiskey cocktail.
All in all a very nice evening. Big thanks to the staff for making it happen.

We called to see how long the wait for a table was and they told us 1 hour 15 minutes, but we could eat at the bar first come first serve. (So if you want a table, I'd recommend making a reservation!) We went in and were immediately seated at the bar. The drinks were good and the food was AMAZING. We had the octopus, the lamb meatballs, and the gingered brussel sprouts. Each one that came out, we said "no this one is my favorite." The bartender was very pleasant and joked with us, but left us to our date for the most part. We are from out of town, or I'd go back to this place in a heart beat. I plan on recommending this place to any friend who visits the area.
Kalle Granada Starholt
Nice place, amazing service! Salmon wasn’t that good, but everything else was amazing!!
Zita Chen
We had brunch there it was pretty good. Gotta try their dinner next time

This restaurant is a nice break from busy Seattle. Amazing coffee and their food, from waffles to elegant seafood dishes, is worth more than 5 stars. The muted tones and cute little decorations make this place both classy and cozy. Everyone working was so kind to us- the first upscale establishment to treat our whole party with respect and kindness, even though we weren't dressed to the nines. Highly recommend stopping in.
Orest Kyrylchuk
Cozy atmosphere. Food was ok-ish, nothing special, however with those prices not worth it.
Kim Ricketts
Food was delicious. Cocktails spot on. Friendly and chill ambiance. Definitely recommend trying it out.
Anastasia Vikanova
We had dinner here the other night and it was great. There is a lot of space between tables because of covid and we felt that we were as safe as could be while dining indoors. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious - definitely get the sunchoke dip!
Maddy Miller
The seafood here was quite good, however, not the best value as the portions were small and it wasn't quite fine dining enough to warrant the price for the portions. The staff was friendly and helpful and seated a fairly large group without a reservation, and their rotation cocktail menu was kind of fun, with names taken from a different movie every month. The octopus I had was tender and flavorful, however a bit too charred on the more delicate parts. The accompanying broccolini and hazelnut gremolata were delicious.
Norlaila Toulas
The food was delicious! The first time I visited I got the truffle Parmesan fries. The best plate of fries I ever had. Well worth the $10. My husband got the salmon salad and the salmon was very fresh and delicious. The second night I visited I got the mac and cheese and the fries again (sans Parmesan that they forgot :(). One of the best mac n cheese I've had though. Some of the staff were really nice to accommodate our big group and even though I left early and ordered take-out, they were accommodating. Not kid-friendly (which is fair, as it is listed so on Yelp), but save this one for date night or a night out with friends.
Matt Mead
Great place to eat! The atmosphere is the perfect balance between comfort and fancy. Will definitely come back here for more. Admittedly I am not huge on seafood but this place has some options that will make even people like me change my mind. The cod beignets were really unique and delicious. The whole snapper, if you can get over your food looking back at you, was cooked to perfection and flavorful.
Michael Black
The great reviews for the food and service here are not over-hyped. The menu was innovative and full of choice, as were the cocktails. You'd expect good seafood in Seattle and this didn't disappoint. Service was excellent
Michelle Nelson
Excellent dining experience. We were a late reservation, so sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen. The best spot in the house. Wine was excellent. Shrimp appetizer...perfect. Had the Arctic char and scallop entres and pistachio dessert. Highly recommend.
Jeffery Coe
We also got the pork chop and we can't praise it enough. The sauce was so rich and flavorful, and the meat was done perfectly. We couldn't finish it so we took the rest to go and I don't know if this would be considered blasphemous but we mixed the leftover sauce with rice. It was heavenly once again.
Felisa Ruiz
very okay - came here for a birthday dinner and overall the experience was underwhelming. oddly standoffish service (they were super busy, i get it - but more is expected when spending over $50 a dish), and overall food was nothing to write home about.
Javier Kohen
I visited for brunch on Sunday. I came for the food, and was blown away by the service. The waitresses were attentive and friendly, and always available. The oysters and crab Benedict were spot on, and my friend's ricotta pancakes fluffy and tasty. The Caffe Vita coffee is simply addictive, I had to ask them to stop pouring it :-)
Courtney Burrows
Great ambiance and delicious food. We had the burrata and crab appetizer, both were beautifully presented. We had the char and scallops for dinner. Also nicely presented and tasty. The scallops were gigantic! We tried one of the drinks which was very unique and spicy from ginger. We would highly recommend Shaker + Spear!
Lmb Zx
Excellent Restaurant. Their Ginger Brussel Sprouts is amazing. The kitchen is out in the open so you can watch them cook the food. What impressed me was how clean everything was and how professionally it operated. This place deserves 6 stars. One of the finest restaurants I’ve ever experienced
David Olsen
The environment, food, drink and service were all exquisite. We had incredible food here. Highly recommended!
FrenchFlies
Great choice of food and fun cocktails. Both the branzino and the rock fish were really tasty! Didn't feel too busy on a Monday night. The food and drinks were served quickly and properly cooked.
Might become my go-to for fish/seafood

Really excellent!!! Every bite is a new experience
Kevin Russell
I love rating places like this. My wife and I were visiting Seattle and looking to try some fresh seafood ( we're from Colorado so...) Beyond this being fresh, the food was amazing. It takes a real professional to know how to blend the flavors as well as they do. I highly recommend this one, especially for the price. I would've expected it to be more expensive, maybe because seafood isn't as accessible for where we're from. The service was also extraordinary.
Brian Dy
Reservations are recommended as this place is pretty small and can get crowded. Ordered the pork chops, charred octopus and truffle fries. Food does take a while to arrive but at least you know they're cooking your food.
For dessert, ordered the pistachio gelato crumble. Excellent way to finish the night. Customer service/ waitstaff was excellent as they always ensured that our water was filled.
Nana I.
The truffle fries are amazing! Would definitely recommend them as an appetizer. Restaurant is small and cozy. The fish/seafood entrées were cooked masterfully. The prices were a bit high, ranging from $27-$40 for an entrée. So for me not an every week spot but definitely nice for special occasions.
Jason Watson
Kate was a fabulous bartender. She knew her stuff, made delicious cocktails, helped with wine selection, and provided great service. Definitely going back.
Recently revisited and the above review still stands! The night was busy because of a show at the Moore, but the service was still top notch.
S E
Very consistent and well thought out menu
Chloe Fagan-Tucker
This is my new favorite restaurant in Seattle. Every time I come it's a new treat. Mitch, our server, was fun, personable, and attentive. I brought my coworkers here for dinner and now they're hooked too. Will definitely be making my way back on my next trip!
Matthew Avis
The truffle fries were the best fries I have ever had in my life. The burger was amazing as well. Honorable mentions: strong drinks, duck confit, nice staff. Would recommend.
林發發
Really excellent coconut ice cream and paella!!

Atmosphere is great! Highly recommend the seafood plates there!
Eric Venor
Zoey made the experience best bartender in Seattle please give this vibrant person a raise cuz she rocks :)
Bryan J Harris
High quality seafood in a smart casual setting. Recommend the octopus and the whole snapper

I'm Middle Eastern. My grandma makes lamb. My mother makes lamb. I had an Irish roommate. I've eaten a lot of lamb. The lamb shank at Shaker + Spear is the best lamb I've ever had in my life. No knife required. 5 stars, compliments to the chef.
Steve Howson
This place was fantastic!
We found this with a recommendation from Google. Being that it had good reviews we gave it a hot.. I'm SO glad we did!
We got the Scallops, steak and Rockfish dinners, as well as the truffle fries.. all were amazing.
The wait staff was great, very friendly and not in a fake way. Our server and all the supporting people (like people that filled our water) were on point and we weren't left waiting g for anything.
When we come back to Seattle this is definitely a place we will revisit!
G C
Excellent food and great atmosphere. We started with the delicious char grilled octopus. Seafood paella was full of flavor down to the last bite. I am still thinking about the fresh scallops and savory chorizo. I cant wait to return to try other dishes.
Lastly, I want to give a special shout-out to Mitch for taking care of us. He is super friendly and his recommedation, cake with pistachio gelato, was a wonderful way to complete a perfect meal!

Some meals make life long memories and my birthday meal at Shaker + Spear will be remembered for years to come.
My boyfriend chose this restaurant on the numerous recomendations of his colleagues and they were well informed!
We reserved a 7:30 table, but arrived at 7 and were seated right away at the chefs table- bar seats infront of the open kitchen. One of the chefs immediately greeted us and recommended a few dishes that were his favorite.
While everything on the menu looked amazing, with the help of our chef and our wonderfully knowledgeable server, we decided in the cod beignets, grilled octopus, artic cod, and ginger brussel sprouts.
Each dish surpassed the previous! The beignets were creamy savory bites. The octopus was hands down the best we had ever tasted. The cod a perfect, savory blend of tastes. The brussel sprouts nothing short of devine.
For dessert we ordered the black current sorbet and a port. The port we wanted was out so we were upgraded to a much nicer vintage. Seeing how much I enjoyed the port, my boy friend wanted me to try an ice wine.
The manager brought up four bottles from their personal stock for us to examine and even opened one he wanted to try for a while.
The meal ended with a menu signed by all the staff wishing me a happy birthday.
It was a wonderful, luxurious, and memorable meal! We are already making plans to go back with friends and family!

Some of the best food in Seattle. Seafood-centric beautifully executed menu. Were Michelin to come to Seattle stars would be awarded here. This restaurant cauld be stuffy and snotty due to the quality of service and food but they refuse to take themselves too seriously. If i had to use a single word... Fantastic.
Jill Henry
I love this place. Trendy, fun, a bit of a hot spot, with the food to back up the hype. The pull apart buns offered as a side...Amazing!!! I've had nothing but great dinners here and a very attentive staff to boot.
Arun Mohan
Original and perfectly crafted cocktails (try dreaming of Oaxaca - it's quite something), and the food is exquisite. If you live in Seattle, there is no excuse for not having tried, and if you are visiting Seattle add it to your wishlist.
S A
Great service. Great food. Don't get too full or you'll miss dessert like I did!l Scotch olives, savory beignets, and paella. I want to go back and try the whole snapper and pistachio crumble.
Caty Lieseke
Made a late reservation while driving north before seeing a show at the Moore. They were accommodating- friendly service. Wait staff was well-informed about the dishes and ready to answer questions. I have already recommended it to a few friends for when they make a trip into the city. Their port-cake was to die for. Thanks for the start to a fun evening (and the guessing game about what movie was used to name your drink menu)!
Curtis Vongkhamchanh
Really nice seafood. The charree octopus with romesco sauce is a really delicious dish with tender octopus. The paella was decent, a lot of seafood but maybe lacked some flavor and the crispy rice texture. Cauliflower risotto was good flavor and interesting idea just not an interesting flavor combination.
Dan MacDonald
Every dish is prepared to a high level of excellence. The cocktails are mixed to compliment the food. It's rare to find high quality seafood outside of Japanese cusine in Seattle so this dinner was a nice treat.
Bryan Djunaedi
The mushroom and herb omelette was a winner, filled with tender, juicy mushrooms. We also got the blueberry pancake with lemon mascarpone... surprisingly light and fluffy with the perfect amount of sour to balance out the sweetness, plus real maple syrup. Fresh grapefruit juice, roasted potatoes, toast, and hot chocolate rounded out an incredible brunch offering! Also, extra points for the classy space.
Sung Cho
Went here for brunch and tried the Lemon Ricotta Blueberry Pancake baked in a skillet it was yummy. We also had the Crab Cake Egg Benny's that was tasty as well. Good service and I would go back to try more dishes.
Sam Kolovson
At first I thought I had made a mistake choosing to go here because the inside is decorated so particularly it feels pretentious. However, the waitstaff was perfectly friendly and the food was exceptional. I had the smoked salmon caesar salad and got to taste the burger and fries, both were delicious. Can't wait to go again!
Blunt “Bluejack” Jackson
Truly amazing brunch. You can't go wrong with anything, but out favorites are there mushroom three cheese omelette, the lemon ricotta pancake with blueberries, the scotch olives, & the cod beignets. They make a lovely mimosa, and a pleasantly restrained horseradish bloody Mary.
Amanda Sobkowiak
This restaurant is very chic inside, and very Instagramable (if you’re into that kind of thing). You have to order the crusted rockfish, it’s unreal and it’s unlike anything you’ve ever had before. And for a starter you have to get the ricotta kale pomegranate dish. I also loved their cocktails and the names of them, to give you a taste, my favorite was deliver me from L.L. Bean which is Camus vs cognac, benedictine D.O.M., chai, lemon, soda, and bubbles.
I couldn't decide to go here for dinner or brunch because they both looked/sounded so delicious and we chose dinner but it was great, so if you're looking for a brunch place..I'm sure you can't go wrong with this choice!
Professor Scot
Yum. Another example of the great foodie establishments in Seattle. Can recommend the charred octopus. Beautifully cooked. Meaty but with a nice crispy edge to it. Also the lamb meatballs. In fact, it was fun working with the servers picking out just sharables and starters with wine selections. I don't hand out many 5 stars, but this one deserves it.
Stacey Brown-Sommers
Outstanding service! The hostess played a little "Tetris" to get us a table, even though we didn't have a reservation for brunch. The food was so good! We shared a mushroom omlette and blueberry pancake. Top notch.
Ko Boeser
Great service, very friendly waitresses topped off with incredible food. Had the seafood paella and the pistachio crumble, both to die for. Highly recommend. Is on the pricey side though with a meal, dessert and drink for 1 coming in at over $50
Elizabeth Borowsky
My husband and I had dinner here our first night in Seattle - and would go back in a heartbeat! Everything was spot on, from our server (Robin - we loved her!) to the atmosphere (hip, elegant, and comfortable all at once), and the food. YUM! Octopus, char, bronzini, and pistachio tart (oh, and drinks!) are all highly recommended.
Dustin W
Super impressed!! I was thinking hotel food was going to be just ok which would be typical. This was high quality, creative, generous portions as well as perfectly seasoned and flavorful. We sat in the bar and Adam was our server. We started with some craft cocktails, which were balanced perfectly. The drinks were " I got it, I got it... I don't got it" and "Heeeyyy You Guuuyyys". Our first starter was charred octopus with hazelnut romesco - so tender and delicious. Next was burrata with grilled sunchoke and sunflower pesto....Delicate and delicious. Our main course was the seafood paella which had squid ink aioli - absolutely amazing. We finished out meal with warm salted pistachio crumble. The space is nice, not a large restaurant, and decor is almost zen like which made for a pleasant dinner setting. We were so pleased with the experience we came back again the next night for another round of dessert. Highly recommend you sit in the bar area of the the restaurant and have Adam as your server. He's very knowledgable in craft cocktails, wine, and food. We would eat here again and again!
Ramsi Eman
Awesome food.
Good people.
Great ambiance.
Kat Sam
Nice spot. Great service, tasty cocktails, good food, although my husband's fish was a bit bland, my snapper was beautifuly presented and crispy fried. Appetizers were filling and rosemary popovers were a highlight for me.
Billy Jackson
I ate there with my boss on Thanksgiving. I had the steak with grilled shrimp it was so good. I will be going there again for my birthday.
Mandy Herd
Incredible experience here. The food was DIVINE; we had a group of 5 and enjoyed unique items like the crab dip, the branzino, octopus, chèvre salad, and more. The desserts were insane.. pistachio crumble, anyone? The drinks were great. But the SERVICE was unparalleled. Our server and the whole team were so incredibly attentive and kind. Nothing was left unattended. They brought my daughter a personal coloring book and a box of crayons, reset the table with every meal, and let us stay an hour after closing without blinking an eye. We’ll definitely be back.
Bradley Smull
One of our best Seattle dining experiences ever, and certainly in the COVID era. From the crispy sesame peanut shrimp appetizer (delicious!) to the Pot o créme butterscotch dessert, the food, atmosphere, service (thanks Ryan, you're the best!), physical separation of tables and ventilation were all primo!
Patrick Mazzuca
Pretty good meal. I feel like this is a very familiar restaurant in Seattle. Good food, sometimes bordering on great. My salmon came out very undercooked, they fixed it and comped it. Overall it was good and might go back.
F Elmesselmani
Service was good food is on par. My only complaints are the octopus was a little over charred yet still had it's flavor, the chorizo in the paella is really hard but would still recommend.
Slade Sinak
While expensive, Shaker + Spear is a nice place if you're looking for a somewhat fancy dinner. Getting a table can be a little difficult once the real dinner hours hit, so either come early or make sure you have a reservation. The grilled octopus appetizer was absolutely delicious and better than my actual main course, the paella, which itself was quite good.
Patric Rogers
Great ambiance. Staff were friendly and had great sense of humor. No pressure to hurry thru our decisions or dinner. I was there with a group from work and we just hung out and ate and had fun.
I tried something outside my comfort zone and it was pleasant enough to enjoy the experience, but not so much I remember what I ate.
Mia McCurdy
Attended an alumni dinner here in The Hive and have to say I was surprised! The food was amazing and WELL beyond what I was expecting for a group meal in a hotel. The family style sides and entrees were incredible (rockfish and NY steak, both excellent) but the tiramisu was the showstopper. Not my favorite dessert but they nailed it here. I will definitely go back to experience the restaurant itself.
Laura Bayard
This is the perfect place for a nice downtown brunch. Shaker + Spear houses a clean atmosphere and an open kitchen that lets you watch the chefs make your food. We waited quite awhile for our food when the place got busy, but it was definitely worth the wait. And their house-pressed beet juice is worth the splurge.
Todd Fellerman
Amazing food, great staff and chic atmosphere. Can't go wrong here!
Andrew Scarabosio
What an experience. My SO and I are in Seattle celebrating her birthday and Shaker and Spear stood out as a nice option that was within walking distance.
1) Ambience: Great feel for a small space, doesn't feel cramped even when crowded. Decor and music selection are par for the vibe and location.
2) Food: Appetizer was fantastic. We enjoyed the burrata with artichoke hearts and pesto. Pesto was well made, the artichoke heart was cooked and seasoned perfectly, but the addition of pickled either onion or beet beally balanced the plate nicely.
Entrees: My lady had the Rockfish with Gnocchi. Gnocchi texture was almost overdone but still held well. Rockfish was cooked perfectly with a fantastic crust.
I had the Paella, and I'm ashamed to say this was the only dish with any flaw. All proteins we're cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The rice was cooked spot on, so what frustrated me was the lack of flavor. Lost the saffron and chorizo flavor unfortunately. I still ate half and brought the rest home.
3) Service: I really want to stress how well our server performed tonight. I also work in the Industry, and David not only was knowledgeable, but had a good presence around the table and was prompt.
What really makes this experience out of this world was the end. As we are paying, David tells us to hold on just a sec prior to leaving. He brought celebration bubbles and a small dessert for my SO. Totally unexpected but as someone in the industry these little things change everything.
Highly recommend Shaker and Spear for a quality meal and excellent service!

Shaker + Spear is truly a 5 star restaurant. From the moment I spoke with Ryan the manager to modify my reservation time for an earlier time, I knew I chose the perfect restaurant to unwind from a long flight and business meeting. Ryan truly values and leads his team with the upmost respect in running a successful establishment. In addition to the highlight of my dining experience, it was being greeted by the most welcoming hostess and cordial unforgettable waiter Josh. Josh was exceptional in making sure every detail of my dining experience was met. I ordered Josh’s recommendations simply based on his gastronomical knowledge and description. He was on point, everything was incredibly delicious to perfection. Josh even embellished my desert with a little surprise when he learned it was my birthday as well. I was beside myself... I highly recommend for starters the oyster mignonette, salt cod fish biegnet with salsa verde, and as an entree the diver scallops even though upon my return I will order the seafood and chorizo pallea that seems to be a delightful choice on a more heartier scale. Everything on the menu has a beautiful combination of flavors that I am looking forward to on my next visit. Shaker + Spear exceeded my expectations. It reaches the highest level of customer service, the epitome of delicious food and I loved that it is encapsulated in a cozy elegant ambiance.
Barb Hornbeek
Unusual, very tasty food was served here. Excellent service, too. Ambiance was cosy. Was within walking distance of our hotel . Shaker + Spear was recommended to us by our hotel front desk person as her favorite restaurant.
Bryson Buck
If you can request servers... request ROSE! The food was amazing, the presentation 5 star, amenities were fantastic, but the crown jewel was our server. She knew the menu, remembered our entire group of 9's names, while having smiles and jokes aplenty for everyone.
The entire experience deserves a 5 star review, but Rose deserves 5 more.
Great job Rose, watch out... we will be back for you!!
Thank you,
Bryson, Dave, Kevin, Rich, Devon, Stephanie, Ben, Jorge, and Clem.

Shaker + Spear partnered with the Kimpton Alexis Hotel to provide dinner for an intimate family wedding. Everything was amazingly delicious - the Greek meatballs, the orecchiette with clams, paella, chicken and dumplings, mac and cheese - but most I loved the coconut panna cotta! Delicious food well presented.
rb1000dc
We found Shaker + Spear on a list of the 10 most seriously underrated restaurants in Seattle. I don't know if it's underrated or not, but I do know it is exceptional. Every dish we had was superb. Highly recommend.
Connie Traub
This restaurant must be a little known GEM! The food was outstanding, both the appetizers and the main courses and drinks were excellent. Our server, David Riddle, was both personable and knowledgeable. I would go again in a heartbeat.
Kyla Kelly
Dinner was amazing! The chicken and dumplings and brussel sprouts were perfect. So flavorful. Madison was the best as well. Make sure to ask for her if you want a true 5 star experience!
Kate Compton
I treated myself and a friend to a top-notch dinner. We splurged on the seafood platter to start and absolutely loved it. The cold, garlicky clams were incredible and while I made a mess of the crab legs, it was such a fun thing to share. I had the burrata with ripe heirloom tomatoes as well as the branzino. The peach chutney with the branzino was so tangy and light and made a nice pairing with the crisp green beans on the plate. My friend had the scallops with succotash. The succotash was crisp and light in a wonderful cream sauce. I could just eat spoonfuls of it. Truly delicious. And the scallops were perfectly seared. We had cocktails to start, the house tonic is delightful, and shared a bottle of New Zealand sauvignon blanc with our meal. The wine list has plenty of options and our server Mitch was a cheerful, hilarious delight every step of the way. We finished with the pistachio crumble; a good
mix of savory, sweet and citrus paired with the 2002 white port. The white port with the dessert alone is worth the trip. Espresso to finish and we left stuffed to the brim and so happy. We can’t wait to go back and see Mitch.
Jay Myers
Brian and the rest of the cooking staff were nothing short of awsome. The wait and host staff, excellent. Food is a must have Seattle stop. Drinks prepared top notch, beer good and cold and of course fine selected wine. Desert a must have. Menu set up is starters, small plate, entrees, and to die for sides. Excellent selection or ports and sherry. Thanks for making a Seattle trip a great experience.
Ryan Tierney
My wife and I came here based on reviews. We were impressed from the moment we sat down to the personal hello from the manager once our food came. Everyone was very knowledgeable of the menu and the food was our best meal in Seattle to date!
Brittany Rawlins
Food and service was amazing! Truffle fries are a must!
Ralph Nuxoll
Rose, Thank you for a fantastic dinner. You helped us make all the right decisions for appetizer and main course. Better yet, the desserts you chose for us were exactly correct. Thank you for the incredible meal.
Philip Gissen
On a cold and windy dark Saturday in the middle of October, we ate brunch outside at Shaker and Spear. Located in a Kimpton hotel, I would think the Kimpton corporation could afford heaters or a plastic enclosure for the outside tables. With Covid raging and escalating across this country, sitting outside is a smart move at my age. Thus, I froze my buns off and hurried through the meal. All the dishes tasted very good, even as we were shoving the food down our gullets with lightning speed in order to finish and get out of the freezing cold. I will have to return on a warmer day, or for take out because the food and service were excellent. Kimpton, get some heaters!
Ken Bergmann
Delightful spot for breakfast, brunch, or drinks. Which is not to downplay the other meals, but scrumptious pastry, wicked sauces and top notch service stand out when dishing out comfort food. This is fast becoming a staple when entertaining friends and guests.
Matti Smith
Excellent food, it can get very crowded if so ask if you can be seated in the bar. The prices are a little on the high side but everybody in our group really enjoyed their food. The serving sizes were enough to fill you you.
The entrance can be missed since it is in the middle of the block and looks like it might be for the bar.
Scott Meis
Having walked past Shaker + Spear on endless occasions, I was long overdue to dive in and explore my piqued curiosity around this Belltown foodie gem. The warm, ambient glow and chic PNW vibe set the perfect ambiance from your first step inside. Do yourself a favor and reserve a seat at the Chef's counter if you can. They've done an excellent job with the right counter height, seating, distance to staff (get to watch the full show without feeling like they're monitoring your conversation)...it's just a more engaging and fulfilling experience, IMO. Stellar, stellar menu, top to bottom with a beyond stellar waitstaff to walk you thorough the must-orders across the board. One visit in and Shaker + Spear has jumped to my Top 5 restaurant list in Seattle. Can't wait to get back for another great meal!
KC Malone
Order the burger. You will not be disappointed. The fries are to die for, thin, crisp, truffle flavored, and covered in parmesan. The burger itself had a wonderful aioli and this amazing cheese that I can't remember the name of but was like a smoked brie.
Auston Wilson
The Wagu beef burger was the best god damn burger I’ve ever eaten! Seriously, the food and service here is outstanding. Highly recommend, you need to eat here.
Bleu Tracy
Josh and the rest of the staff were awesome And all helpful. The food was 5 star from appetizer to desert. Thank you guys for the great meal before we head back home to california.
Alyssa Sferrazza
Delicious juice, coffee, and breakfast. We had the smoked salmon Benedict, and the almond encrusted french toast. Wonderful service, friendly staff and good vibes. Highly recommend.
Michael Vitale
Absolutly amazing dinner. Every recommendation was accurate and every dish was delicious. Our server Keegan was passionate and knowledgeable about the menu. Great server, service, and food.
Jon Bowser
Excellent! Dungeness Crab Eggs Benedict was really good. Crab cakes replace the English muffin—very yummy. Great atmosphere and very friendly/attentive staff.
Pelle Agerup
Obviously very happy with our dinner! The beet sallad was right up at the top, followed by the octopus and crab dip. Finished with the crab fish, then we had to stop. Back tomorrow for more fish and attack the desert menu!
Robert Matuszewski
Awesome! Visited family from Denver who recommended S+S. Very accommodating for our 9 year old, making him feel comfortable and welcome, which in turn allows Mom and Dad to enjoy their evening. Excellent menu with unsurpassed Food and Beverage service.
Arthur Kim
Shaker + Spear is a damn fine addition to the Seattle restaurant scene. I feel, seafood, more than other foods, should be kept simple. Our server did an excellent job of tending to our needs, and made sure our dinner was a very enjoyable one.
Our family had an amazing dinner for 5 where we ordered half the menu and just shared all of it. We got the grilled prawns w/old bay butter, Rainier beer steamed clams w/bacon & celery, oxtail bruschetta, whole snapper w/basil, garlic, & lime, diver scallops w/spring garlic succotash, sage arctic char w/cauliflower, polenta, & tapenade, anadama bread w/whipped butter.
There wasn't a single bad thing that we ordered, but my favorites were the grilled prawns, steamed clams, whole snapper, and the sage arctic char. The prawns are lightly grilled which leaves their flavor mostly intact. Rainier beer is an excellent beer to steam seafood in and the clams were really tasty. The arctic char had an amazingly crispy skin, yet super tender meat.
I was surprised they had whole snapper. Americans are usually afraid to eat whole animals, but it's a very popular way to prepare fish in China. If you think you can get past the fact that your dish still has its face on it, I highly recommend it. I just wish they had chopsticks so that you can easily pick all the tiny bits between the bones. Don't forget to pick out the cheek meat, as it's probably the best part of the whole dish.

The mains that we shared were fantastic - the octopus was excellently prepared and the sauce was amazing. Mixed drinks were also great, and they had a tremendous wine on special when we visited.
Ida Williamson
The restaurant's manager and all the staff were a highlight when I dined in at your place. The service standard was prompt, on time, and were all excellently presented with the correct treatment. Highly recommended!
Scott Bolding
Seattle. You are in for an amazing treat. This little gem is now rated as one of my favorites! I have eaten all over the world, and this now ranks as one of my tops! Ryan has an incredible knowledge of wines, and the Mac and Cheese rivals the best in the world. The staff work hard for a small restaurant, and truly care. I so pleased. It's a must!

Miso Black cod fish is absolutely delicious..great place for a date night. Best Seafood place in seattle.
Sarah Alexander
Great dining experience - Reserved via Open Table. The food was good but the ambience and the outstanding service is what made the dinner memorable.
Neo Xplores
Amazing service, great pancakes, and coffee. I might make this my new favorite spot!
Gregory Hernandez
Food was fantastic! Waiters were very attentive and quick to help. It was worth every penny and I will be back again!
Nicole Sorine
Great ambiance. Went for brunch and had the eggs Benedict. Way too overly dressed with hollandaise sauce. Chef needs to use less. Other than that, it was a nice place.
Michael Diamond
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Seattle. The restaurant ambience is quite nice and Chelsea, our server, is very knowledge about the wide variety of options on the menu. The ingredients were very fresh as well as some of the most delicious food I've ever eaten.
Carrie Ta
Great service, delicious food, top notch vibe
Paul Mason
Love the food. I have been weekly since it opened almost 2.5yrs ago. Food and Beverage menus change regularly enough to keep you interested - they typically keep the fan favorites. Staff is always great!!
Becca
Great service, dessert was amazing! I got crabcakes, which were average. But other than that, no complaints
Steve Ash
Really enjoyed this place! Octopus, popovers, and rock fish with gnocci were all excellent. Nice wine list and friendly knowledgeable staff. Can't wait to go back!
Michael Kostashuk
Outstanding Steelhead on a wild rice pancake...great wine selection.
G J
Overall, it was pretty good. The cocktail and service was solid. I didn't care for the burger it was just insanely cheesy, the fries were nice.
Van Le
The meal I had was great! Great portion and flavor!
Ken P
Excellent food and outstanding service!
Bill
Superb service And an outstanding meal this place was excellent. Drinks were well thought out and the wine list had much to offer. All in all I recommend this to anyone who is in the mood for great food and drinks. Thanks guys!

Stopped here at random. Was told that it was a hidden Gem of a restaurant in Seattle. Very true. It was a small nicely decorated spot. The servers are truly great. Lunch time menu option were limited
Mary Smith
Watching Chef Carolynn Spence lead the kitchen is like watching a conductor at the Met. She watches over each dish and gives everything the final touch of perfection yet has incredible respect and admiration for her kitchen staff. It seemed that the feeling was very mutual.
Cyrus Fung
My favorite place to eat in Seattle. The octopus is the most tender I've had. The rockfish/snapper is awesomely presented and absolutely delicious. Portion size is great.
Beatrice Fu
the food is amazing! & everyone from the host to the bartender to the waitress are awesome & wonderful!! I'll for sure to come back & even stay in the hotel for the next trip in Seattle.
Vasily R
Location is very convenient. My scallops were well cooked but nothing extraordinary. Nice modern decor. It's more of a $$$ than a $$ restaurant.
Bob Eldridge
Kitchen runs like a clock. We had "front-row" seating as we watched the patrons meals being prepared. The food was innovative and delicious.
M S
David Brink's appreciation for ingredients and creativity, Cameron's beautiful plating and perfect technique--and the impeccable collaboration and of the whole service team--has blown me away. As a foodie with high restaurant standards, it doesn't get much better than this. Wow.
Ross Ferguson
Nice food, but exceptionally slow service. Coffee refills were few and far between, and brunch took over 45 minutes between ordering and food hitting the table. Not in a huge rush to return.
Kristina Brummitt
A friend told me about this place so I had to try it. The food is amazing and the service from Ryan was even better. Very knowledgeable. Can’t wait to come back.
Anushree Ghosh
Awesome seafood, really well made.
Julie B.
Awesome and affordable brunch! Make sure to make a reservation!
Andrew Kandel
Break free of the lazy restaurant at whatever mediocre hotel you’re trapped at and head here for breakfast at a minimum. The Dungeoness Crab Benedict is a stunner and quite affordable considering the portion and quality. Seriously...
Harvey Copple
Great food. Amazing drinks.
Aakash Mangal
Good location and great American breakfast place.
Alex Tran (Schimiggy)
When people ask where to go for seafood, I point them towards Shaker and Spear. Amazing food and great cocktails. I love their service. Servers are on point and can get all your questions answered. Love this place!
Aamir Jawaid
Got the crab cake Benedict. Delicious! And the jojos too. We made adjustments to the order and they were great about it.
Sarira Sadeghi
Everything was delicious and great service
Tony X
Absolutely delicious food. The grilled octopus is a must. Great ambiance and good service!
Steven James Burks
The cuisine was truly outstanding. However, the COVID seating street side was a bit awkward, and the service was attentive, but brash. May return, but not at the top of my list.
Ashley Wollam
We are downtowners and Shaker + Spear have been a mainstay for us. Solid, well-executed food that is consistently good time after time.
Violet Greene
The food was pretty good, but service wasn't good. We waited for quite a while, and only when we asked our server did we get our food. Might've just been an off night for them, but the service just wasn't what I expected from a restaurant like that.
Jacob Labauve
Great experience! Sat at the chefs counter and were able to interact with the chefs and see all the food being prepared. We live local and will be coming back often.
Hebberly Ahatlan
Well well well! What a fantastic find - even in highly competitive culinary market as Seattle is these days. The food is brimming with flavor and the setting is modern, cozy and with clean design lines and warm lights.
Peter Myers
Food, glorious food! Arctic char and pinot noir. Okay, imagine my mii rubbing his hands together excitedly with a little bit of a maniacal laugh. That's the feeling of perhaps visiting Shaker + Spear. Everything was rainbow unicorn fun and tasty. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Go directly to Shaker + Spear.
Joona S.
Super busy and bustling, great and funny service with good food. 4,5/5
Andrew Gormley
We loved the brunch. Great service too.
C E
Great food, but we left a little hungry. Entrees should be 25% bigger. Still very tasty.
Jehnean Jablonski
We've been here twice now and both times both the customer service and food we're absolutely delightful! Both their dinner and brunch menus were delicious.
Emma
This place severs upscale food in a worm environment. Amazing chef (David, Cameron and Michael.) Mac n cheese is to die for and lamb rague is great.
Fang Li
Fries were good. Otherwise the food was very okay (esp the salmon - super salty). Service was slow.
Green Monkey
The brunch had a nice range of savory and sweet. Breakfast/ Lunch mix. Many sides to compliment. Pleasant servers.

Unique combinations of ingredients with a pnw flare. We had the oysters with a frozen horseradish ice, clams with fennel sausage, and crab cakes served with squid ink aoli.

Delicious options for carnivores and vegans. Fun brunch menu beyond the standard fare. Excellent service 👏 …

Waygu beef burger, seasoned with salt and pepper only, cooked medium rare - hands down the best burger I've had in Seattle. Definitely worth the trip.
Kristofor McKean
Great food, Cool cocktails, and outstanding staff make this a great spot
Shane Keogh
Delicious food, but took a painfully amount of time to receive that food. I think we waited for over 50 minutes for the entree. They also have a very limited beer selection.
Tisha Schmidt
Great food, atmosphere and the staff was super friendly and efficient. Our food came out so quick
Erin Kemp
Really really good atmosphere and they welcomed my five year old by giving him a crown. Amazing food, too notch service; only downfall is I live in Canada!!!
W B
Excellent Food needs reservation
Scott Yates
Expensive with small portions. Food was so so. Service was good to very good. Insufficient value for us to return.
Sara
The shrimp appetizer was really good, but the crabcake tasted mostly of filler and the salad was overrun with raw onions, making much of it unpalatable.
Claire Xie
Wonderful brunch experience!
Michelle Vaughan
Food is unique and delicious. Service is impeccable. We had a great time. Bar area is fun too.
Aaron Stone
Great menu. Great service. Sitting at the chefs table being able to ask questions and talk to the chef and line cooks was a great experience.

Very good seafood and services! Enjoy it!
Kevin Burkeland
Fantastic food and an inventive menu. I really enjoyed the cocktails which were as fun as they were tasty. I highly recommend.
Andrew Widdowson
Amazing food, great waitstaff. Hearing them explain the dishes was worth at least 30% of the price of the meal!
Justin Ahn
Go-to spot for when visiting guests inquire about seafood. Great sign of things to come in Seattle. Symbolic that this is by many a Tom Douglas spot.
Julia Brooks
Wow!!!! Best dinner I've had in a very long time! Everything was impeccable - food, staff, ambience! Will definitely be back!
Matthew Lloyd
Got the Halibut and Char and both were amazing!
sean kelley
the octopus is amazing, rosemary poppers were tasty and the salmon was crazy good. great place, definitely would recommend.
Tim Chu
Food is quite creative (and scary looking) but service is lacking. Waited 10 minutes to be seated while our table was already prepared and 80% of our party already arrived and waiting.
Regina Miller
Super hospitable staff! The Parmesan Truffle Fries were delicious. I look forward to dining here again.
Colleen O'Hollaren
Small, cozy restaurant with creative food and attentive staff. We went somewhere else for dessert. The dessert menu could be better.
Melissa Shumake
The mascarpone waffle is the best waffle I've ever eaten. I expect to dream about breakfast here and plan to come back every time I'm in Seattle.
