Reviews of Pike Place Chowder

Even though the line looks a bit long, it's actually pretty quick to order and get the food! Very fast and organized service and route. The New England Clam Chowder we ordered was good! It was rich but not too salty or heavy. I love the sourdough!
However, 4 stars because it was as good as other chowder I've had before, so I won't say it's a must visit place when you come to Seattle. But if you are here, I highly recommend ordering the sourdough bread!

Pike Place Chowder is busy but the line moves fast. My sister and I tried this place for the first time and let me tell you it won’t be the last! I got the seafood bisque and the New England clam chowder-absolutely delicious! My sister got the smoked salmon chowder in a bread bowl and she absolutely loved it!! The chowders had the perfect amount of meat, the soups were creamy and flavorful, some of the best chowder I’ve eaten😁

About a 15 minute wait to order and the cashier told me it was super slow for a Friday afternoon. Be careful not to block the exit while waiting in line. The Bostonian in me had to try the original New England chowder (I consider myself an expert due to my place of birth). Pike place chowder uses oyster crackers, which is an ironclad MUST when eating chowder. Extra bonus points since it was Westminster cracker company, the Rolls Royce of oyster crackers (they are from New England) . The chowder was hot, and rather delicious. Definitely the best chowder I've had in WA yet. The potatoes were tender, the clams not too chewy, and the salty bacon flavor added to the creamy and thick broth. They also gave a piece of sourdough bread for dipping which was a nice addition to make up for not getting a bread bowl. I wanted to try more chowders on the menu.. Maybe next time.

Visiting Seattle for a work event, and had to try this place because of all the reviews. I liked it! Some notes: I got the Maine lobster roll, and the meat and seasoning were very good. But to me, the bread seemed a bit sweet. The texture was good, but I was a little disappointed based on all the rave reviews about the bread. Still a very good sandwich, though.
I also got the chowder sampler, which I do recommend. One note: When I got back to the hotel (I ordered to-go), I couldn't tell which chowder was which because there were no labels! Some were more obvious, but others were too similar to tell a difference. My favorite was the Manhattan chowder, with a rich tomato base.

There will definitely be a line and it’s worth it. Seating is limited but opens up pretty quickly. You’re best bet is the sampler. We really enjoyed trying all the chowders. Every single one was delicious. We also ordered an extra 12 ounce chowder. My only regret was the $59.95 Connecticut style lobster roll. Just don’t. The lobster was dry and there was nothing special about it. You can get way better lobster in Pikes for $20. I would give three stars but the chowder is worth 5 so we are settling on 4. Our total was $114 before tip and I would recommend stopping by if chowder is your thing.

I was faced with making a choice, and I chose not to choose. Instead, I grabbed the 8-sampler extravaganza. No regret.
Five of them were at least a 9 out of 10. Shout out to the many-time award-winning New England Clam Chowder; it was incredibly rich in flavor. So good! Right on its heels was the Crab and Oyster with Chorizo Chowder. An unexpected top performer that left me longing for more, even with seven other chowders in front of me.
The staff was amiable and helpful. They told me the Seafood Bisque was their second best-seller. It was my third favorite.
It's a small space, so seating is tight and limited. If they are busy, be prepared to get it to go.

If you go, depending on the time be prepared to stand in line. It goes fast, but there's not much seating. The chowder? Second to none. It's so, so good. I got the scallop chowder and hubby got the salmon chowder. We got a large (not on a bread bowl) and we are glad we did. If you order the bread bowl, know that it equals about a medium size for a higher price. Our bowls came with oyster crackers and a delicious slice of bread.

Nov 2022 - ordered the 8 cup chowder sampler for 2 of us. I can honestly say they have THE best chowders we've ever had. the dining area is very small and very limited so take it to go if possible.

You MUST try this chowder! Award winning, and for good reason. It is truly phenomenal. We got the clam chowder, market chowder, and a shrimp roll. The chowders were incredible, the market chowder that day may have been the best soup I’ve ever had. Next time I’d skip the roll and maybe try an extra soup instead!
Only downside - very limited seating. We were there on a Tuesday and could barely find a spot for 2.
