Reviews of Mondello Italian Restaurant

Fantastic homemade pasta: chewy, springy deliciousness. Not particularly crowded on a Saturday night, so don’t be afraid to just show up on the weekends. Everything was terrific. Would definitely return.
Robert Schuppert-McDonald
Stephen and I had dinner and loved our food. The spicy sausage ricotta pasta was delicious. The homemade noodles were tender and not soggy holding their own with the sausage and sauce. The carbonara was equally the bomb. We also had salads and each a glass of wine. I only gave 4-stars as they played country western music that affected the ambience and experience of Italy. If your looking to sit outside they have a large seating area off the sidewalk.

Incredible food. The gnocchi is little pillows of heaven, the gorgonzola sauce had an amazing depth of flavor, it was the perfect consistency. My date got the fettuccine con polpette and that was also incredible. The fettuccine was clearly fresh and handmade, a perfect mouth-feel and what al dente is supposed to mean. The sauce was perfectly seasoned and was clearly freshly made. We asked for a wine that would complement both of our meals, and she delivered. Sadly, I can't remember what it was, but I'm not really a wine person and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
We ordered the tiramisu for dessert, and it was also incredible. And so darn pretty. The coffee was not bitter or overwhelming, the cream was delicious and delicate.
I have been craving good, authentic Italian for some time and Mondello absolutely delivered. I'm torn between being sad that I live so far, and being grateful for my waistline that I'm so far 😅 Grazie Mille Mondello!

Went here for lunch on a weekday and we were the only ones there. It felt like we were transported to Italy and into someone's home. I was looking forward to trying Mondello and I wish I could give it 5 stars. Unfortunately, my lasagna was cold in the middle and the table was pretty dirty with dried food stains. They did have a sign saying bussers needed and I know there's a labor shortage with the pandemic so trying not to hold that too much against them. The ravioli marsala was absolutely divine though... That sauce! I can just lap it up, it was so good. I wish the portion sizes were all bigger for what you get. All in all, cute neighborhood joint and if I lived near by, I'd go again. But I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Our party of 8, 4 kids 4 adults, found this amazing Italian restaurant after a long day of sightseeing. We wanted a dinner close to where we were staying and we have no regrets!! The food, service, and atmosphere was beyond amazing. We all agreed this was the best Italian food we have had. The owner does such a great job on her menu and you can tell how much love goes into all their meal. Such a great local find and we will be back the next time we are on Seattle!!

This is a great hidden gem, one of the best restaurants in all of Seattle! The staff is very attentive, service is excellent, and the homemade pasta and cannolis are delicious! The owner always checks on each table and shares the changing specials, the atmosphere is private and cozy, and their selection of imported wines is extensive, a great way to complement the food! We love it here, and we will for sure be back.

Simply amazing! Authentic Italian, its the best in Seattle. Hand made pasta, the Saltembocca was great.
Crystal Frankenbery
What a wonderful family owned spot! Going to Italian sometimes intimidates me, but this restaurant was the opposite of pretentious. The owner was our server and was prompt with our food and service. She was funny and friendly and we will certainly be back for the amazing food. Very COVID friendly with the outdoor patio with heaters.
Their menu is a QR Code to view online and has pictures so it’s super easy to know what you’re gonna get! we both got the specials for the evening (black cod and rack of lamb)
Side note: they were very empty for 7:30pm reservation... so go support them during these difficult times!

5 stars for the food
2 stars for the services
Similar to others in here, it was empty we were the only ones. Took family with my kiddos but while we were greeted friendly, it did feel very rushed. When I asked her to split the carbonara between the two kids since they were share, she told me she can’t do that. So she gave me extra plates to share on the table. I was a bit surprised since this seems like a no brained to me.
So all in all I’ll be back, but for take out.

We had a wonderful meal on a special occasion, but I have come with business visitors. Great location and easy parking. This is a combination of gourmet food and comfort food, and the staff makes you feel like you are eating in their home. Wonderful ambiance! A great list of specials every night complements a menu of traditional favorites, prepared for Sicilian way. Tonight we shared bruschetta, then enjoyed a fettuccine with pesto and a spaghetti bolognese. Sofana picked a delicious and affordable Sicilian blend and we topped it off with a wonderful tiramisu. This is a gem!

Go to this restaurant! Honestly best Italian I’ve had in Seattle (arguably ever). Staff and owner are always so kind and food quality is top notch. Don’t forget to get dessert too the owner has the best specials. Great spot for a date night.

A most delightful discovery in Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood! In this adorable little space, every dish our party of eight ordered was just fantastic -- the bruschetta special (on grilled housemade bread, with mozzarella di bufala) and the caprese salad were amazing, everyone's entree sparked raves (shout out to the ravioli al marsala, the gnocchi al gorgonzola, and the fettuccine con polpette from the regular menu, as well as the specials), and the desserts -- sublime! Such a crispy, flavorful cannoli, not to mention the tiramisu, the dark chocolate mousse, the red velvet confection that was the cake of the day -- we should've taken photos, but we were too busy enjoying the food! The mother & daughter proprietors, from Sicily, were wonderful -- we felt like we were guests in a friend's home. Everything was so fresh (including the pasta, made in house), with such good ingredients and balance between flavors -- I'd go back to Seattle from California just to eat there again. Fantastic!
Elizabeth Stoner
We love the cozy atmosphere at Mondello’s. Sofana and her daughter squeezed us in on a busy Saturday night and made us feel welcome!
The veal saltimboca is one of my go to’s, while my husband enjoys the beautifully presented branzino.
Finishing with the house made dark chocolate mousse tops off the experience!
Oscar
Friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere and lovely decor. The carbonara was spot on, and if you have a sweet tooth the cannoli's are perfection.
Aaron Kunkler
Really good, authentic Italian food. And they have Cinque Terre DOC wine which is fantastic! Pesto is unbelievable too.
Bimal Sandhu
My boyfriend has a passport card so we decided to try this restaurant. We bought 1 entree and got 1 for free! The ambience is very cute and romantic. The bread we got for a starter was delicious!
We ordered a Bolognese and a Carbonera. The food was made so quickly because they use fresh pasta. This definitely appears to be a very authentically Italian experience. The food and the service were both great!! My boyfriend loved both entrees, but I didn't enjoy the Carbonera as much. It didn't really have much sauce at all, usually the egg helps with that but I couldn't even tell that there was an egg in it. I loved the Bolognese though!
I still highly recommend this restaurant!

This has become one of my go-to dinner spots ever since my first visit. I believe she is the owner, but the woman I see there each time is the best. She remembered where we like to sit, and even the wine we like. I love how they create new recipes for their dinner as a family, then add it to the specials. One of them was a lettuce wrap shrimp ceviche and it was to die for! Like seriously, one of the best I’ve ever had. I came here for dinner on Tuesday this week and it was very close to closing time and they were super kind and happily served us anyway. I ordered the squid ink pasta with prawns and let me tell you, I couldn’t get enough! It was the best pasta dish I’ve ever had. I’ve been thinking about it ever since. Such a simple dish with high quality ingredients and the favors complemented each other perfectly. I could only dream of making it myself. I love this place and recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal, a classic Italian ambiance, and friendly service.
Jaclyn Ward
My partner and I are in love with this place. The owner is a very sweet woman who clearly cares about her guests’ experience. We go here at least once a month!
elaine tate
When I tell you this is the best food I've had I really meant it. Not only was the food amazing but the staff is so friendly and the owner is this adorable lady who hand makes the cannolis she literally makes you feel so welcome. This is legit the bast place to eat I 1000% recommend this place.
Erin Hobson
Our staple - pasta dishes are outstanding. Family run, friendly and welcoming. We love it!
Sara Morris
I've been twice! My family's Sicilian and you don't get much more authentic than Mondello. First my brothers and sister took me for my birthday and we all ended up sharing each of our plates because everything was so good you couldn't keep your fork to yourself😂 I was so impressed I took my husband back last night for date night and we live all the way out in Snohomish lol. We received the same phenomenal service and everything we ate was out of this world! Sophana is phenomenal. She takes great pride in her restaurant, her employees, The service given and the phenomenal food they serve. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Seattle area
Madison Buxton
Great food and service! We shared the bruschetta and Cesar salad. The 1st basket of bread was complimentary. I had the squid ink pasta with shrimp which tasted great.
Peter Marshall
The food is fantastic, especially the lasagna, and the staff are unbelievable welcoming and kind. The dark haired waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with the menu!
Chad Frederick
I've have been a fan of Mondello Ristorante Italiano since they first opened. It's a great local Italian restaurant that is family run and offers an old style dining experience. For example on some evenings when it is crowded, they will have house wine to offer while you wait along with some fresh bread.
The food is wonderful and prepared by Mom in the back. Sometimes she comes out and visits with the customers. But, its nice to know the food is lovingly being prepared and not mass produced.
Enjoy Mondello Ristorante Italiano! #localguides
Savannah Hollis
A little costly for what you get, but the ambiance was great and the staff was incredibly friendly.
I had the gnocchi, which was fantastic. My father had the spaghetti and meatballs and my mom the chicken Marsala.
We had two glasses of Barbera D’Alba and dessert as well. Thought the peach gelato being served inside of a peach was cute.
Would probably come back for the right occasion.
Kim Ward
The lasagna was huge and to die for, all the other food was good too, but that lasagna...... As good as my Mom's and I NEVER say that.
Benjamin Smith
A lovely and charming restaurant with delicious food, a great staff and a fantastic environment. I have been several times since moving to the neighborhood and have loved every dish I’ve tried!
Colin Hutchins
A truly phenomenal, authentic Italian experience! Run by a delightful man from Palermo and his talented mother, the food was top shelf in every way. If you want authentic homemade Italian, you won't be disappointed with Mondello.
C B
Excellent family restaurant with friendly owner/proprietor who is actually from Sicily. Can’t wait to return for more ravioli in mushroom cream sauce & cannoli! 🇮🇹 👌🏽
Gregory Henselman-Petrusek
Lovely food, generous portions, and a warm, charming atmosphere. It’s wonderful to see a family operation in action.
James Salazar
Excellent food with excellent service. I also felt is was reasonably priced for higher level italian.
Claire Nebeker
I always enjoy coming here. Great vibe. The Pollo Al Forno (chicken) was wonderful.
Jan Muylle
Best food we've had in Seattle, too bad we didn't discover this earlier. True Italian cuisine and also real gluten free options. Recommended!
Rhiley Allbee
Have been here twice and had vastly different experiences both times. The first time we went for a special occasion and loved it. The food was amazing (minus the tiramisu which was overly soggy) and the service was very friendly. When my partner's parents came into town we decided to take them and it was the exact opposite experience. The staff were rather cold and we felt like we were being rushed out almost from the moment we were sat at our table even though they weren't busy (multiple tables open the entire time we were there) and we had a reservation. More importantly, the food did not stand-up to what we had experienced the first time. We ordered the ravioli marsala during both occasions and while we were blown away with how good it was the first time we ate it, it wasn't nearly as good the second time. We also tried the chocolate mousse and it was served as a liquid rather than a set mousse. I think the lack of consistency in food and service will keep us from coming back.
Ana Bancroft
Delicious and authentic food; clean and cheerful atmosphere; professional but yet warm service.
James Bond
Ravioli Al Masala is my favorite dish, taste is unique and amazing, it is out of this world…. I love it….. Cannoli Sicilliano is amazing desert….
Jessica Ghyvoronsky
Literally our favorite family owned Italian restaurant in Seattle. The owner Sofana and her daughter Aurelia will always be a big reason why we come (we love them and their authenticity and sassiness, they feel like home), and their food stands on its own. Home made pasta (the perfect Al dente texture), great Italian wines that you can't get elsewhere, suuuch a charming atmosphere, one of the best kept secrets in Seattle. My go to menu items are the spaghetti con polpette and clam linguini. Come here, be present, take in the vibes, and enjoy the food and company, you won't regret it.
J SMOOVE
The food was absolutely delicious, for being a real authentic Italian restaurant the prices are pretty fair not to mention they have very good customer service. We both got cannoli and it was very good, you can taste that they are hand made and not store bought, will definitely be coming back
Luca Giatti
Authentic Italian owned restaurant serves homemade pastas and an extensive Italian wine list. Cozy and warm feeling.
Auth Family
They had fantastic service, wonderful food and made my daughters 15th birthday special

Tried Mondello for the first time last night, and it’s everything you could ask for. It has a nice family style vibe to it, but that doesn’t mean it’s just for families. We started with the bruschetta, and with tomatoes in season it was amazing. I had the gnocchi and my friend got the lasagna, portions are a perfect size…just big enough to satisfy without stuffing yourself. We didn’t try dessert, but will be back again for sure.
Youji Hong
Pasta has a delectable, springy texture. Beautifully cooked. Eager to come again :)
Malika E
Wow. Absolutely incredible show-stopping service and food. My favorite dining experience in Seattle!
Candy Richardson
Lady helped me pick out a wine..meatballs and pasta were amazing...tiramisu and coffee are the best if it has to end. My after dentist ritual

Mondello ristorante is one of the best Italian foods I ever had. The restaurant is very authentic and cozy. The foods is so good I can’t even decide what my favorite dishes are anymore! Both the mother and daughter are very hard workers. They also made very good desserts like cakes, pies, cookies, chocolates, etc. from scratch like how amazing is that!! The restaurant environment is very welcoming, overall I had a great dinner experience
Mikhail Ghyvoronsky
Oh mondello. I’ve been coming here with my wife for many years! Sofana, Aurelia and the team are incredible. The food warms my soul. I always say this is the coziest restaurant in all of Seattle. The charm is unmatched. This place is a hidden treasure in magnolia and secretly and selfishly I kind of want it to stay that way! Give sofana a color and she will always bring you a great glass or bottle of wine.
Highly recommend.
Ayli Meyer-uri
I really wanted to love this place. It seems that it's actually owned and run by an Italian family, which helps with the authenticity. I have to say all the pastas were cooked perfectly, which is more than I can say for most Italian restaurants. The owner was friendly and sweet.
However, the bathroom was in serious need of some repairs with holes in the wall and gaping ceiling sheet rock. Also, the chairs are made of a fabric that are easily stained and not easily cleaned. When we sat down at our table, there were crumbs left over on the chairs from previous patrons. The extractor fans in the kitchen seemed to not be working because the small restaurant was filled with smoke, despite the door being propped open.
So overall, the food was good, but repair, cleanliness, and mechanical issues made our meal less than appetizing.
Jon Peara
The food was excellent. Nicely spiced appropriate portions. The decor is a small but nice neighborhood restaurant. They have seating inside and out with heaters. We ate there Sunday afternoon. They said they had had a very busy Saturday evening and so had none of their famous baked bread. Nor were there crackers or anything else to eat along with cheese and salad.
Zainab K
Very delicious food with great service. The restaurant itself is just so adorable. I ordered the home made ravioli.
Jonathan “Jon” Lanterman
Great little Italian restaurant in Magnolia with excellent pasta choices and a super nice waitstaff. Very reasonable prices to boot. My family will be going back!
Carla Turner
What a wonderful meal! The service was outstanding, and the food did NOT disappoint!
House Of Averell
It’s always a pleasure to be in this place, the service, the food, the wine and above all the authenticity of it. Best Italian food in Seattle.
Denice Randall
My favorite Italian restaurant!!! It’s a small family owned spot that’s perfect for celebrating special events & has definitely become our go-to! Food is always amazing (my favorite is the spaghetti alla carbonara) and if their chocolate is on the desert menu it’s a chocolate lovers heaven!!!
Alrun Burgmeier
We had a great experience at Mondello! Loved the outside seating area and they were very accommodating when it came to seating. We had Bruschetta, Lasagna and Fettuccine and it was delicious. Next time I need to save some space for desert. The cake of the day looked amazing 😃
Russell Reder
Family owned and operated, the service is friendly and accommodating. I had an exquisite halibut on squid ink pasta with tomato sauce to die for! The best Magnolia has to offer.
Shannon Moynihan
Wonderful! The staff is as welcoming and warm and their delicious in house pasta. Great wine selections and do not miss the homemade desserts! It's a neighborhood treasure!
R L
Wonderful outdoor dining experience. Children were wonderfully welcomed. A custom dish was made for us after realizing the kids Mac n cheese was made with parmesan (allergy).
All dishes (except ravioli and lasagna) are available with home made gluten free pasta. Everything like I remember from Italy (with Sicilian touch). I may dine again while visiting Seattle instead of the other place I have chosen for my second night. Bella.
Nicholas Tacke
It is always such a treat to come here and definitely the best Italian food I have had in Seattle! I have been here on several occasions always to find fantastic service, a great wine list, and fresh ingredients cooked perfectly. They have outdoor seating with heaters that make even chilly nights comfortable. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a nice dinner as a date or with friends.
emily p
Placed two combo orders for pickup - the fettuccine with sausage and the fettuccine with meatballs, both with side Caesar salads. The order was ready quickly, the croutons in the salad were delicious, and the food itself was also delicious. They definitely make their pasta from scratch and you can taste the quality. I would have liked a little more sauce to dip my bread in, but it was plenty for the dish. This has been some of the better Italian food I’ve had in the Seattle area. Date night tip: we took our food to the Magnolia overlook and picnicked there. We brought our own wine (in coffee cups). It’s a gorgeous view to perfectly compliment a beautiful meal.
Deborah Price
Yum! Great food and friendly service. Good drink selection.
Luisa Williams
The food itself was absolutely delicious and I loved the atmosphere.
Carmen Decker
We have been going to this lovely, local restaurant for the past three years and it never disappoints. The owner is wonderful and the food is always amazing. Get out and support this incredible, family owned Seattle gem!
Jess Morningstar
Adorable and delicious restaurant! Took my mom here for her birthday and we had such a pleasant dinner. She is Italian but gluten free so this was a perfect option. It reminded us of our adventures in Italy. Amazing wine, superb pasta (although could have been a tad warmer), and wonderful limoncello dessert. Overall good service but still some room for improvement. Will definitely come back though!
Eden
Nice family place in the Village, fine with little ones. Good Italian staples from a real Italian family. Mama working in the kitchen every time we visit. Service was good, house wine decent. The lasagna came out cool in the middle and after sending it back it took a while to come back out, but when it did, it was piping hot.
AJ Garcia
Very nice atmosphere with great food. Highly recommend for romantic meal or an evening for conversation with friends.
Mohammed Hashim
Food here is very authentic. Everything tastes really good and much better than average italian good. The server is nice and real! Their wine selection is great.
Emma Fairbanks
Out of this world!! The freshness and authenticity are obvious. The service was personal, prompt, and professional. The fish special was a close to perfection as it gets! Instant favorite.
Catt C.
This is my boyfriend and I’s go to date spot. Every time family comes in from out of town, we take them here. Their food is ALL amazing, and if you have a sweet tooth you GOTTA try the special dessert, it changes nightly but every single one has been amazing.
This is my favorite restaurant within all of Seattle!
John Freeman
A friendly, family-owned place featuring caring service, a decent wine selection, and tasty offerings. We split a beet salad with walnuts (delicious), and my wife had ravioli while I enjoyed the seafood special. All was freshly prepare and really good. Nice local vibe.
Jeremy Leishman
Good Italian food.
Homely and hospitable feel, low key vibe.
Staff is friendly and attentive.
Mike Schmidt
Really enjoyed two dinners here. First time we were late dining and they had ran out of lasagna, we knew we had to come back to check that out although what we ordered the first night was also delicious. Place is quirky with a definite Italian flair. We enjoyed our dining experience and felt the waitress was fun and had no problem communicating with her accent. We look forward to returning! Yes - the pasta is home made and the lasagna was delicious! The lemon gelato dessert was yummy too. This is our 'default' go-to Italian restaurant in Seattle now.
Dan Estrada
Fantastic food and wine. Fish, pasta and meat balls all exceptional. Service was as if we were in their home: warm and anticipatory.
Nice selection of Italian wines with reasonable prices.
Two visits thus far - both were worthy of five stars.
Natalie S
My favorite Italian restaurant in Seattle! The atmosphere is very calm and relaxing and the staff are always accommodating. I especially enjoy their homemade mushroom ravioli marsala dish paired with a glass of wine. Most plates are smaller so plan to share a salad for a full meal.
Hannah Elizabeth Dudley
Just had dinner here with my husband and our friends. The best way to sum up my experience... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. From the amazing service, to the warm atmosphere of the restaurant, to the obviously home made spectacular pasta that didn’t break the bank! It’s so hard to find a genuine Italian restaurant, but Mondello definitely is! We are definitely going to be coming back again and again! I’d give them 10/5 stars if I could!
Ella Hatfield
Lovely and charming atmosphere, delicious authentic cuisine, and make sure you stay for dessert!
Rahul Dodhia
Always great. Professionally made pasta is so much better than home attempts. Their bruschetta, the olive oil with the bread basket, even the cake for dessert are all amazing.
Jon Parker
Came here with a friend from out of town today and we had a great lunch! I ordered the Fettuccine Con Polpette. Really authentic food (pasta is handmade very well). I will definitely be coming back. And the price is low for the high quality.
Karyn Porter
We arrived at the tale end of the dinner rush, we were seated fairly quickly at a corner table. Ordered spinach salads which actually were very tasty. We decided to try two classic Italian dishes; lasagna and spaghetti bolognese. Lasagna was good, but portion small. Spaghetti bolognese was fair. Service was good.
Kimberly Hooss
Our first time here, lovely meal and casual service, great wine selections. I always love to see minestrone on the menu and this one was great.
Joe Filoseta
One of the better local Italian restaurants in Seattle. Owners a true old country people and are actively involved in your dining experience. Wine selection is deep and varied. We were a group of six and all reported being happy with their dish.
J C
We wholeheartedly agree with the other reviews. The food is absolutely amazing. I've had good Italian food but this exceeded anything in my recollection. From the greeting to departure, everything was wonderful. I had the ravioli and my wife had spaghetti. Yummmm!
Solea Kennedy
The staff make the dining experience feel special. This is a cute little restaurant with decor that makes you fell you are in Italy. I had the Putanessca which was the best I've ever tried, I raved about it and the chef gave me tips on making it at home. My friend loved her spaghetti dish as well. The lemoncello dessert is heavenly.
Not only will we be back, this very well may be our new favorite restaurant.
Michael G. Barash
Thought the food was great here and will be back again. I really enjoyed the carbonara. So many restaurants I have visited try to reinvent the dish in a show of innovation that it can be hard to find the real thing. I am grateful Mondello makes this dish correctly.
Beth Mikulka
Perhaps because I was a party of 1.5 (myself and my son), I was ignored - even though it wasn't crowded. It was overpriced and under-portioned. For a $9 glass of house red, I would expect at least a 4 ounce pour, but I was lucky if the glass was filled with even 3oz.
After waiting two minutes while holding my son for them to fetch a booster seat, I already had enough time to peruse the menu, but the waitress walked off when I said I was ready to order, and then made me wait (while my son was chanting "I need food") another 7 minutes before coming to take my order. The lasagna was okay - nothing amazing to warrant the price of $19 - and it came out just less than luke warm which meant it was cold before I finished eating. I finished my glass of wine halfway through the meal, but was never approached about needing a refill. I had to go up to the counter to ask for my check, as they didn't even pay us enough mind to notice my toddler loudly stating he was and done and wanting to leave now... Multiple times (to my chagrine).
I wouldn't recommend it to a friend.
Kristen M
Some of the best Italian food we have ever had. Fresh, authentic, delicious every time. Would highly recommend
Keegan Allred
Second time I've been, and it was equally divine each time. A lovely family-owned atmosphere, with decor that makes you regret looking out the window to see that you aren't in Italy. The staff is friendly, unobtrusive but helpful, and all beautiful in word and face. One of the most pleasant dining environments that I've gotten to enjoy. That said, you're probably wondering more about the food.
I made the delicious decision to order carbonara my first trip, and the gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce the second. I also got to try my company's dish of mushroom ravioli. Hands down, the most delicious Italian food I have ever experienced. If you enjoy perfection as I do, you simply must go.
Everything is made from scratch when ordered, and the freshness shows. I couldn't quite say if the pasta is as fresh, but it's certainly not left me wanting. I assume that it's made daily like the bread.
Josh Parker
If you want to know what it's like to eat at a local cafe in Italy, go here. The food is great, and the service and atmosphere are exactly right: just the slightest bit rough around the edges but authentic and charming. This place is legit.
Mark Hughes
Great Sicilian Italian dishes. I had the gnocchi in Alfredo sauce, soooo good. But I have to say that they should add a veggie with the dish. Pretty much a big plate of white with a few walnuts on top. I would have sacrificed a third of that gnocchi for some fresh asparagus or other good veggies. Would have made the dish that much better. But if it is pasta dishes you want, you definitely won't be disappointed!
Joseph C. Chiang
I had a date night with my girlfriend here. The vibe is fantastic, giving us a feel of Sicilian. I had their squid ink pasta and it taste amazing! Their bread is also pretty good so I would recommend this place for everyone!
Cindy Choi
A small taste of Italy not to be missed. I've been to Mondello's four times now, so here goes my review:
Sofana, the owner I suppose, is a petite Italian woman who is very personable, thick with accent, and very helpful. She flits around from table to table until the rest of the wait staff shows up at 6PM or so.
The food is usually very good. The flavors are well balanced, nothing dominates a dish.
The Italian wine selection seems pretty good, but I'm not well versed on the differences between wines from France, Italy, Spain, Yakima, etc.
Their interpretaion of tiramiso is really tasty.
The daily specials can be hit and miss. The most recent halibut dish with pasta was tasty, but the halibut was very dry. This is not acceptable for a $35 dish. I will likely stick to the menu with listed prices, as the specials' prices aren't listed, and I don't believe we were told the price. The other special, which contained prawns, was very good.
Overall, this is a place worth returning to. 4**** Stars
Mark Morgan
Food was good but not impressive. Service so-so. Prices ok. Higher than I thought.

If you ever tried your hand at authentic Italian food, Mondello Ristorante sets the standard for which you would want to aspire. The flavors, presentation and preparation deliver an experience that puts their plates above the rest. We had the Cioppino over pasta and Linguine Alle Vonogle. Both had generous servings of seafood over pasta that is rich in texture and flavor. The minestrone soup is an authentic classic too.

This place is a hidden gem in Magnolia. One of my favorite spots in Seattle for great Italian food. The Bolognese sauce is on point and the staff are some of the friendliest restaurant folks I've ever interacted with. Great service!
Arthur Kim
When going through the list of Eater's "Iconic Dishes That Define Seattle Dining" article, Mondello was the one restaurant I didn't recognize. They listed their lasagna as their signature dish. I had a business meeting coming up in the Magnolia area so I made it a point to my coworker to make a stop here for lunch.
The decor is old school, almost stereotypical, Sicilian. I got their iconic lasagna while my coworker got the gnocci al gorgonzla. The lasagna wasn't just cut out of a pan and plopped down in an unappetizing square as I expected. It almost looked like it was individually baked to order (of course I know it wasn't) and then dressed with a delicious sauce. The pasta was very soft but not soggy at all. I can see why this dish is so famous now.

My boyfriend and I love this place! It is one of our favorite restaurant everything is good there. The servers and owners are so nice. They also have excellent wine choices!
seth klinger
This was some of the most fantastic homemade pasta I’ve ever had. I highly recommend the mushroom ravioli. The waitress may have come off a bit cold, but she answered all of our questions and we got everything we needed.
Patrick Harding
The atmosphere is good, the food is good. Why only three stars you my ask?
Well I wish the food I ordered was not frozen but fresh. I have gone there twice and both times the lasagna was lukewarm.
John Edwards
Eaten there 5 times. Four of them were incredibly good. The pastas here are top notch.
The one bad experience time was a total let down. Maybe it was just a bad night where everything seemed off and rushed
Any one of the pastas will be a home run. I recommend the ravioli in marsala and the carbonara.
Barbara Grecco
We were here Friday night and a wonderful time. The pasta was probably the best I have ever had (I had the lasagna). I don't live near Magnolia, but hope the make the trip to your part of town again soon.
Gus Chan
This is one of those Italian restaurants that has high ratings but completely depends on your experiences and expectations. I could not share the same feeling from other 4stars plus reviews as the food wasn’t spectacular, nor the server who seemed to have more interested to see us finish the meal quickly as we didn’t order any wine.
David Pond
Excellent authentic Italian food. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. It is like being welcomed into a family's home for dinner. Our favorite Italian restaurant by far. Highly recommended.
Sunset
It was very good authentic restaurant to have my birthday dinner. Pleasant Italian environment, live beautiful piano music, people who work there and the owner are very nice and friendly. Food was delicious and desserts as well. Loved this place!
Esther Suk
Mondello's was the most authentic Italian food I've had in Seattle. The ingredients were fresh and minimal, the menu recommendations were honest, and the ambiance was very warm and friendly like what you would find in Italy. It really made me miss Italy. My boyfriend and I celebrated our 5th anniversary here and our server Sofana was fabulous! We recommend the the antipasto misto(charcuterie with caprese), the cozze e vongole (mussels and clams), and any of their entrees. We chose to go with the peach sorbetto for dessert but they also have handmade gelato as well!

Ravioli Al Marsala
The three cheese homemade ravioli in porcini mushroom Marsala sauce. This is a very creamy delicious sauce and finger licking amazing!
Fettuccine Con Salsiccia
Handmade italian sausage braised in tomato sauce with ricotta cheese. This dish is bit dry including the sausage but it's delicious.
Tiramisu was a dessert. Unlike other places, this one is less sweet and tastes good.
Alexandra Timpone
Absolutely amazing, authentic Italian food. Service is great too. This is our go to when hosting family and friends in town.
Michael Cook
Fantastic Italian place. I had la putanesca and it was the perfect blend of spicy and savory. Shared some delicious tiramisu as well.
Jack O'Brien
Charming staff, authentic Italian cuisine, and a romantic ambiance with a pianist that performs most nights. Definitely worth the price!
I had such a great time talking with the owner's mother Ensa who is from Calabria and who also works there. I've even met the grandma, Maria, who sits at the bar most nights enjoying the music. They're so sweet!
If you're in Magnolia village and you want to have a romantic night out Mondello is a no brainer.
Matt Linak
The rustic tables, Italian staff, and cozy size created a charming atmosphere. The food, prepared by an Italian woman in her 70s, tasted better than anything I have eaten in Florence or Rome. Head to Mondello for a slow four-course meal. Don't skip dessert and say yes to the wine.
Bryan O
To go lasagna and a delicious beet gorgonzola salad, hell yes! I've been here a few times and the customer service is great, the staff are super friendly, and the food is always good.
Chelsea Snodgrass
Great homemade pastas at a great price. Very good wine and salad as well. I loved the ambiance, small neighborhood restaurant, with the cooks in view in the back and a guy strumming away on the guitar.

Good food. Expensive. Zero help by the waiter in helping us figure out what to order. She basically didn't understand English as I had to point to the menu to show. Ended up googling the names of the dishes to figure it out.
Wes Saunders

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Seattle. It wins on all front-- ambiance, service, menu selection, location and price point. I've felt welcome every time I've come through the door and like I'm back in my Aunties house for Sunday night dinners. The gnocchi are little pillows of heaven in the tastiest Gorgonzola cream sauce. I've had the salmon dish more than once and it's always cooked just right. Love the cannoli, can't get enough Tiramisu. What's not there to like? Yum....
Jane Illario
Delicious food, charming space, and great neighbourhood. Love all the pastas I’ve tried here, have been multiple times and the lasagna, mushroom ravioli, and all the seafood options have all been amazing. The bread served at the table always feels warm and fresh, and the ambiance of the space is always cozy and romantic. It’s a family run restaurant, and you can really tell with how well the staff knows the menu. The neighbourhood is super quaint, and there has always been seating available for late-evening dining. Lots of parking on the street in front and they have a cute patio for summer dining! The one miss for me was the tiramisu — the coffee flavour wasn’t pronounced and lady fingers were soggy. Otherwise all the food has been great. Looking forward for being back!
Sara Olson
This is hands down the best Italian restaurant in Seattle! This is the real deal - fresh homemade pasta, amazing sauces, and cannoli!! The Sicilian flare is distinct, both in the richness of the food and the warm hospitality of the staff.
For Italians in Seattle: even if I'm not Italian, my 16 years in the Bel Paese make me almost an expert :) I recommend going to Mondello for a taste of home.
RICARDO BERNAL
Excellent Lasagna, I really liked that it is a traditional family restaurant, and that it is attended by its members
