This is a solid place to grab a bite of fresh seafood at Pike Place. They advertise which options are the fresh catch of the day and they come in platter or sandwich form. I went with the cod platter. It takes some skill to grill such a picky fish that well and tender. The flavor wasn't anything spectacular, but the carmelized onions added a lot to it and the the garlic bread was excellent. The rice, surprisingly, wasn't boring and had good enough flavor to stand alone. Mix in that tasty vinaigrette and you have yourself a simple, but delicious plate of food. Thumbs up for Market Grill!

Super tasty fish sandwich! We tried to order the seafood stew, unfortunately it was out at the time. The staff/owner was so nice that they remembered and gave us a seafood stew which they actually have some. I’m very thankful to get one to try and not disappointed with it. Highly recommended this place!

Flavourful and super friendly staff! If there's room can sit at the counter. Ordered the Salmon sandwich which came with coleslaw. Very filling and fresh with great flavor combo (fish, sauce, onions & greens). Takes a bit of time, but grilled right in front of you. Definitely would go back to try other menu options!

3.5 stars, for this grill. I enjoyed my Blackened Salmon sandwich. The fish was very fresh and cooked right in front of you. Bread was slightly burned. Portion was on the small side, but tasty none the less. It's a little pricey for what it is, however inside Pike Market, your going to be paying higher prices regardless. They also have shrimp and halibut available. You choose how is cooked and if you want a platter or a sandwich.

Wonderful fresh wild seafood. I got the halibut platter, fish fresh from Alaska! Platter has brown rice, salad with tomatoes and grilled onions. Very healthy option to standard fish and chips. Then I had the salmon platter which was also great. I’ll be back.

Anytime I've been here to eat it has never failed to impress. The people are friendly, and great prices for the quality of food you get in the market. I would say sometimes this place is overlooked by people because of it's location, and there's many other known places in the area, but don't pass on this. Highly recommended.

I wanted to try Seattle clam chowder so bad! I love the chowder from San Francisco and I had to know if Seattle beats it.. And..... 🥁🥁🥁 It does!! The seasonings are 🔥. Big pieces and just so good! San Francisco does have great bread bowls. I wish I could marry them! ☺️👍🏼

Excellent fish! The Market Grill is just what you would expect at a fish market. It is a small rustic area, with a few comfy stools to perch on while you enjoy delicious salmon, halibut or whatever they may be serving. The fish is served sandwich style or on a platter with rice and salad.

Great seafood spot! The food is consistent and delicious! The people working have good energy. Good value for pikes place. Over the times we’ve been there we’ve done most of the menu and it’s all been great. The blackened shrimp are the best I’ve had out here! Sandwiches and platters are great and fill you up. I love the dairy-free NW stew/chowder! They’ve brought back seating behind the restaurant so that’s nice.

Great spot for fresh caught grilled fish at Pike Place. First day I tried the famous blackened salmon sandwich, which comes with rosemary mayo, grilled sweet onions, Roma tomatoes and lettuce. Second day I had the catch of the day, rock cod, on a platter with brown rice and salad, comes with garlic bread. Both stellar choices. Fresh as fresh can be a cooked to perfection. Couple of stools at the counter if you want to sit, Vax required.

This is one of the only places to actually eat along Pike Place Market. Prices are pretty good considering the location, and the food is REALLY good. You most likely have to grab food and go though. I recommend the Prawn Sandwich.

Definitely worth a try. This place seems very unassuming, in fact, you may even walk right by and not notice it. But, you should definitely stop and check it out. It’s even been featured on tv shows. I tried their signature salmon sandwich and it was super good. They use a really nicely flavored mayo and some sweet onions that really work well with the salmon. The down side was the price of the sandwich. I paid $17 for a sandwich and a glass of water. While I was sitting at their very small seating area many people ordered the chowder and it looked good too. The next time I’m wondering around Pike I will be sure to try the chowder.

Outstanding service as they customized my poke bowl with greens, slaw and brown rice. It’s a great, healthy option among all the indulgences at the market. Fresh yellowtail, delicious pickled onions, heavy on the sauce though. Overall, tasty and great experience! Thank you!

Went there for a pre-lunch after reading the reviews... I had to go try the world famous “blackened salmon sandwich” with a small cup of clam chowder. The sandwich was delicious . Will definitely come back for another one next time I’m in town. The chowder was good, but a little too heavy with the flower.

I love the clam chowder here! They get very busy but they give you great service despite being so crowded. You can hop inside and dine in or order on the go. Small clam chowder is only like $5. Tip: ask for the chowder bread, apparently it’s their secret menu item!

This is a small shack in the busy pike market. Although space is limited and the stools are accounted for, the turnover rate is very efficient. We ordered a large clam chowder and the catch of the day (Icelandic Cod sandwich) and it really hit the spot. They grill your desired meat feet away from you which anyone can appreciate. Staff was down to earth and nice enough. Definitely recommend 👌

My favorite restaurant in Pike’s! The employees here are extremely kind. If there’s no space at the register, they have tables in the back with umbrellas (great for people watching). We ordered the salmon and halibut platters, which came with garlic bread, spring mix, and brown rice. The fish was fresh and the accompaniments were fantastic. A solid meal by kind employees!

overall 3/5 - takeout or sit down at counter service is great but food needs more TLC 1. homemade chowder 3/5 * more potatoes than calms * light on seasoning, little bland * taste was better in the past few years * 16 oz is the largest portion; snack size, not filling 2. halibut sandwich + rosemary mayo * fish was under seasoned & dry if you're looking for a quick bite, it's worth a try we always make our 1st stop from Vanc BC hope it's better next time around!

Ordered a salmon platter for a quick bite. The fish was fresh and light. However, the lack of seasoning really hinder the experience. Coupling that with the price of the platter makes this a 3 star review. Perhaps the sandwich option would have been a better route. The staff was extremely nice and talkative.

Pretty darn good hand stuffed sausage. It's tight quarters in this Pike place classic. Super friendly staff and right to the point menu. You'll enjoy a muriad of mostly European style sausages. I had the chorizo, the kielbasa and the Cajun. All were good. The fresh made saurkrauts and cabages were good too and provided a nice balanced contrast to the meats.

Great place... Friendly, fast, delicious food. The price is not low but it is worth it. It's amazing to be eating at a food bar where there are people from at least 8 different nationalities at the same time. It's a Market Place classic... After this, try for dessert a sweet bread from Piroshky (a bakery almost next to the 1st Starbucks), and enjoy the view in the nearby balcony, and your day will be perfect🤙🖖

Not a fancy place more like friendly and cosy. The salmon was well-done (upon request). It had the freshness feeling to it. They did not over seasoned it for sure. The brouwn rice was a bit too sticky and tasteless but the grilled buttered bread with its cruncky buttery sensation made up for it.

I think the best part of this place was the customer service; all of them were great. It was a little hard to find because it really is a hole is the wall. It’s what you might expect from a “restaurant” in such a busy area as the public market. We had Portobello and chicken platters and clam chowder which was good; especially the chowder which I’ve missed. It was also really appreciated when one of the guys asked if I was prior military and was gracious enough to apply a discount. Thank you big time. I would definitely go back.

An excellent spot in pike place market to get fresh fish. I’d recommend the chowder as an appetizer to go with your meal. Even if you don’t want to order just watch the atmosphere and how fast they’re moving!

Tiny little counter in the Pike Market but with seating outside around the back. Absolutley fresh salmon and chowder. No sand or anything grainy in the chowder whatsoever. Smooth and delicious. Blackened salmon is famous for a reason. The cost is true to what you get.

This is definitely the best seafood restaurant in pike place. I ordered the blackened fish sandwich (which was featured on the travel channel) and it was just as amazing as the restaurant says it is. The fish was super fresh and tasty, the bread and veggies were flavorful, and the sauce they put in the sandwich was a great compliment to the rest of the flavors in the sandwich.

Delicious sandwiches and clam chowder! Great for a quick stop for lunch or take to-go. The service is good too; the cashier was super nice and gave me a cup of water while I waited for my food. He also made sure to pack it all nice into the bag before handing me my food. I highly recommend stopping by for at least a quick snack if you're in Pike Place Market.

Staff was really nice and helpful. We ordered at the counter but they had space out back so we sat out there. The clam chowder was good but I still prefer the one at Pike Place Chowder. I also ordered the halibut platter. It was ok. Should have just got it grilled without the extras bc it was too filling and plain after the chowder. A little pricy for the platter.

Been enjoying their sandwiches since 2002, though this was my first post-Pandemic Salmon Sandwich. The prices are commensurate with...Market...rates. The sauce was lighter and the rosemary-plus-fresh fish flavor a bit thinner than I had anticipated from long-inscribed memory. Still a great ritualistic part of a Market visit but I wouldn't go out of my way to find them for lunch. Not like I used to, at least.

Meh. Saw this place on Delectable Destinations with Andrew Zimmerman. He featured their 'world famous' salmon sandwich. Honestly, it was underwhelming. Lots of bread. And not enough seasoning on the fish nor enough sauce. Strong fish flavor with neutral tasting bread. Couldn't taste the onions or spread. It all just got lost in the thick bread. $15 for only a 6 inch sub type sandwich. Nah. Not great. Texture was fine. Had the chowder, too. Not bad, but not great. My bowl did not have a lot of clams. Mostly potatoes and carrots. It's not super creamy. Not like New England chowder. It's a bit different. I think they purée some of the potatoes to give it that thickness, not too much cream. I guess I've just had better. Flavor was good, just not amazing. $6.50 for 12 oz. Service wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. They basically take your order and that's it. I asked for water when ordering. They forgot to serve the water. So I asked 3 different guys for the water. There is only 4 of them. First one was the guy I ordered with, second was the guy working the grill and delivered our sandwich, he said I gotta ask the other guy, but never nudged him to get his attention. It's a tiny area. The last guy finally delivered it after I was able to get his attention, but by that time I was done with the soup and most of the sandwich. They were a little busy, so just expect that. And If you decide to eat at their counter, they will still give much of their attention to the walk up orders. Just don't be in a rush and try to get your water/drink before they walk off. I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here again, but it wasn't horrible. Just MEH!

We went here twice during our visit to pikes place market it was that good. It’s not where Google maps showed it though. The first time we ordered it got dine in (very limited seating inside and a small patio outside) the second time we did to go and took it to a scenic overlook to eat. Both times it was the famous blackened salmon sandwich! So good and fresh (the salmon comes skin on fyi) it’s not surprising to get fresh at the market but what really impressed me was the cook. I could see him the whole time and he had gloves on which he didn’t use to pick up raw meat. He used tongs and never once touched the raw meat with his gloves. That impressed me because there’s many restaurants I’ve worked at and ate at where you can see the cooks and they will grab raw meat with gloves on then just wipe their gloved hands on their apron🤮 then handle cooked food afterwards. Short story this was awesome, fairly priced food in sanitary conditions!

If you are looking for some good healthy food this is the place to visit. Their prawns platter is the best. It’s served with brown rice, loads of green salad, toasted bread which is buttery, toasted, crispy and fresh and grilled prawns. I love the grilled prawns a lot here. You can ask for sauces on the side with the platter. The prawns and grilled and cooked to perfection.

When you are in a tourist trap, you should expect to overpay for something. A group of four of us ordered four sandwiches for carryout (salmon and halibut). I'll admit the sandwiches were definitely not bad, but they weren't the greatest I've ever had, either, and definitely not worth the $20 we paid for them. The sides that are listed on the menu were not included. So I paid $20 for an above average halibut sandwich with no sides, and in a coastal area where halibut should be as cheap as beef or pork in the midwest.

This was truly a great find in the busy Pike Place Market that lives up to the hype! Prior to our visit to Seattle, my husband did research on restaurants and the Market Grill was listed. We went there this past Sunday and we were not disappointed. It’s a small stand in the bustling Pike Place market but don’t let the small size fool you. The staff was nice and super friendly and the food was exceptional. My husband ordered the salmon platter and I got the Icelandic cod sandwich. The fish was so fresh and perfectly seasoned. My husband also sampled the clam chowder which he said was truly delicious. I wish we had gotten the name of the guy that took our order. He was super friendly and welcomed us as if we were personal guests at his home. The chef, Jason, was also friendly and did a superb job preparing our meal. Seating is somewhat of an issue (limited number of barstools) but the turnover rate was pretty quick. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Just had the signature wild caught salmon sandwich and clam chowder there, sitting at the counter, about 2 hours ago. We were first time customers. My friend had the salmon platter and everything was filling and delicious. The place was super crowded when we went there. There was a slight wait for the kitchen bar seating. We really wanted to sit on the inside facing side of the market. The guy at the grill is really chatty but in a good way. Tries to keep you engaged. The catch was definitely fresh. We had the halibut and salmon filet and it was terrific!! We at out in the patio area. The salmon platter was amazing. The salmon was fresh and the servers were really pleasant. If you don't want to stand in like at Pike Chowders for a cup of chowder, I recommend you stop here as it was just as tasty. We enjoyed both the food and experience.

Just ask what they recommend you should have and what is freshly caught around Seattle - you won't be disappointed. I had the halibut sandwich with rosemary mayo which was delicious. Salmon was brought from Alaska on ice, and while I am sure it was great why not have what is the fresh fish of the day at Pike Place Market. Great service. perfect spot to people watch. And don't forget to pin where you are from on their map on the wall!

The sandwich was delicious but the thing that truly shined was the staff. I was there during a busy lunch time. I was greeted with a smile and after having given my name for the order, was addressed by it by other kitchen staff. I wasn't shuffled to the back of the crowd to wait. When my sandwich was ready, it was given to me with eye contact and a sincere Thank you. It feels odd to say but I left there (with my sandwich) feeling buoyant. The people of Seattle were absolutely wonderful on our latest visit and this experience stood out as a truly memorable one.

My friend is a local who directed me here as one of her personal favorites. Sandwich, blackened salmon, was fantastic. Had a cup of chowder and a soft drink with the sandwich which did not disappoint. Either get the sandwich to go or grab a seat if one is available but they have limited seating. Only thing short of the five star for me was the tourist pricing. All together North of $25 with a modest tip is a bit steep...but I guess that's to be expected in a tourist saturated spot.

Truly, Seattle food does not get better than this. You can keep your fancy restaurants in downtown, this sit down at a bar and order food is the best in the city. The salmon sandwich came as advertised, I would recommend it. The bread was light and crisp from the local Le Panier and was matched with a delicious spread. The salmon was seasoned well, grilled to a tender but crispy finish and paired with some soft grilled onions to accompany the delicious bread. Perfect size. My only complaint was waiting in the middle of the market where it was crowded. Next time I would grab a seat outside at their seating area.

The server really tried to provide good service. However it's hard during peak hour when he has to man the register, serve food up to 15 people, manage eating space, clean the area, service water and on top of anything else whilst being polite and nice. Keeping that up during the full length of his shift is not an easy feat. Thus, I can't really make a big deal about how he didn't give me a receipt and threw away half my garlic bread that I was about to get to finishing, so he can clear my table because other people were waiting. The owner needs to hire more people.

Simple concept: grilled fish (Salmon, Halibut or catch of the day) on a sandwich or a salad. There is also a poke option, but it’s not their focus. The execution is excellent - my salmon sandwich was nicely blackened, the caramelized onions added a much needed sweetness, with a creamy sauce and some acid from the tomatoes. That said $16+tax for a salmon sandwich strikes me as a bit much, and the salmon was also just a touch overcooked.

Of course the prices are inflated (it is a touristic market), but the fish and sea food are really fresh! Food is simple yet delicious, and not so many options in the menu. But it's a fish counter in a market. IF you need fancy stuff then better to go to a proper sit-in restaurant. Grab a chair and sit on the counter or if there is place, sit in the simple small terrace in the back

I loved the clam chowder. It had a nice twist that gave it a bit of a zing without deviating from the essence of a good New England chowder. The blaken salmon sandwich was also pretty tasty, with super fresh salmon, perfectly toasted bread, and roasted onions to round out the flavor and texture.
