Reviews of Kanak Indian cuisine
Wayne Clark
If you are looking for absolutely delicious Indian cuisine, look no further. The service was attentive and the prices more than reasonable. This was easily the most enjoyable meal I had during my week-long visit to Seattle!
Gracie Musick
The Vandaloo was beyond delicious! The cilantro and the spices were truly the cherry on top of the entire meal, and the Gulab Jamun was phenomenal. So rich and sweet, we had a wonderful experience through and through. The meal portions were very generous and our waiters were very polite, friendly and attentive. Made our first trip to Seattle that much more memorable! Thank you for such a flavorful, exceptional dining experience

I was craving some Indian food and this was perfect for me. I didn’t have a lot of time so had to order pickup, so sorry if this photo doesn’t do it justice, but it was delicious and kept me well fed for the next day or so as the portions were very big for cost (which I like). The staff too was super efficient, even though it was pickup, they were definitely on their game. Oh and even though it was a quick look, the place itself was clean and nicely decorated and I’m pretty sure it had restrooms too. Great place.
Michael Beck
Stopped by this place on a whim after the place I was intending to go to was closed. Boy, was I glad that I did! Totally unassuming location from the outside, almost walked right past it, actually.
Definitely worth a try! The food was fresh, the presentation was out of this world, the prices were reasonable and the portions were very hearty.
I will for sure be going back!

Delicious! You get a lot of food for what you pay for. I'm ordered a few times including to go and each item has been very flavorful. Really liked the Tikka Masala and garlic naan ( also tried the mango curry). Can't wait to try a few more different meals since I found this place.
Ithomiid Inc.
Delicious Indian food. We especially enjoyed the korma and mulligatawny soup. The garlic naan was a bit too garlicky for me, which I didnt think was possible. The chili and plain naan were good. Excellent lamb chops and tandoori chicken. The setting is nice and small and the staff were friendly and prompt.

We were craving for Indian food & dint want to travel far from downtown. So, we ended up dining-in at Kanak for lunch. The ambience is ok & the service is above par. We ordered papdi chat, mushroom mutter and rotis. All the dishes were decent.
James Wald
I try to eat vegetarian as much as possible, and Indian is often my go-to choice when I do. I ordered the mixed appetizer plate: samosas were nice, and I most enjoyed the vegetable pakoras which were excellent. The tamarind chutney was very flavorful. Garlic naan: this was the freshest and best texture naan I've ever eaten! Vegetable biryani: very good, but I would have liked a bit more vegetables in it. Mango Lassi was quite tasty, but due to its thick consistency was a bit difficult to drink through the narrow straw (a wider straw would have been better). Courteous and attentive service from the staff.
Gregor H
Decent Indian food not far from CBD. Friendly service. Pakoras were nice and crispy. Bainghan Bharta was alright, but a little uninspiring, which is somewhat common for ethnic food in the Pacific Northwest. Naan was fluffy and tasty.
Ken Friedman
Very nice downtown Seattle restaurant. Excellent somosas, garlic basil naan and lamb mango chutney. Truly wonderful Kashmiri paneer. If you are looking for an Indian meal, don’t miss this Kanak.

I've had Indian Food all over Seattle and this place is a cute, little spot in Belltown. So very peaceful inside and the chef is very accommodating to try to make it healthier for you (not as much oil or ghee). I prefer their chicken tikka with no sauce and just roasted veggies. High quality poultry and they do not skimp on the veg. I adore their shahi korma and kashmiri special, but these dishes are heavy, and their spice levels don't play. Amir or Ameer is the Manager and he truly is the sweetest. They treat me like gold every time I visit. If your belly can handle it, all their apps and drinks (mango lassi) are delish. I highly recommend this place for single or 2-people dinning. It's a pretty intimate restaurant but they can accommodate larger crowds (get the whole restaurant to yourself!). Attached, is the customized chicken tikka (delivery via GrubHub).
Alastair Winner
Really good Indian food. Not particularly spicy, but excellent flavors. Naan bread was wonderful!
Amanda Conway
Buttery smooth Butter Paneer, tangy and sweet mango lassi, crispy pakura with sweet mint chutney - there were no misses at dinner and exceptional prices for the quality. One dinner fed both of us hungry adults no problem.

Was visiting the area from Denver for the week and stumbled across this amazing place! I have had several different Indian Cuisine from Boston, Denver and now here and Kanak is one of my top picks! Beautiful presentation and beautifully bright flavors! I started with a glass of wine then the Aloo Tikki. A beautiful cool dish served as a layered grilled spiced potato, cold yogurt, and chutney 😍🤤My mouth was watering the minute it hit my tastebuds! Then I enjoyed the Shahi Korma with chicken. Finishing Indian Chai! What an uplifting drink, I can smell the spices- it's wonderful! Long story short, if you appreciate Indian cuisine, go here! I almost forgot to mention, all of this for around $35!

Tried veg biryani.. its good. I asked 5/5 spicy level and it is very spicy.. overall taste is ok.
Also tried tomato spinach soup its a must try...
Overall good place to try indian food

Very very delicious food. If you're looking for something special Indian cuisine. I would strongly recommend this restaurant for you.
The restaurant team were masters in hospitality and very kind. Specially the two ladies who are giving the main life to this place. Kudos to them 👍🌺
Benoît Soufflet
The best Indian restaurant in town. Offers a really great selection of vegetarian dishes. We tried the Matter Paneer and Paneer Tikka and both were delicious. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great and affordable place in Seattle downtown.

Review is for Takeout.
Had the house curry with chicken (medium-hot), with Samosas and Garlic Naan.
Samosas were really good. Other items were also decent, but might get something else next time.
Aditya Deshmukh
Awesome and tasty food.
Super Hygienic. Great ambience. Best staff!
Must visit!
Svetlana Gedymin
Delicious butter chicken. Mango mousse cake is a must have to try!
Donald Crowe
Everything was super authentic. Wonderful flavors and nothing was overspiced.
Lucy Pearce
I am originally from the UK but have been in the US for 20 years now and lived in many different states. This is by far the best Indian food I’ve had in the U.S. I’m vegetarian so they have a lot of great options for me. I do think they have a little heavier hand on the spice so if you are sensitive to that I’d say choose a lower spice level.
Kirsten Powell
So glad to have Kanak Indian in Belltown! I have never had a bad meal here. Portions and prices are great. Rice comes with the curry. I have tried the Korma, Butter Chicken (favorite), Tikka Masala, Mixed Appetizer Plate, Samosa Chaat (lunch favorite), Garlic Naan, and Mulligatawny Soup. All were fantastic. Spice is always perfection. If you're a fan of Indian food, do not pass on this spot!
Smriti Gupta
Amazing and cleanest Indian food in Seattle. I have ordered multiple times and visited the place in person as well. The food feels clean and made up with good quality ingredients. I never felt bloated or heavy after having food here. The gravies are not heavy and super creamy but balanced. The tawa rotis are so fresh, thin and tasty like home made. All the desserts are very balanced and doesnt taste too sweet like other restaurants. Samosas are crunchy and tasty. Paneer is so soft and fresh. I prefer this restaurant over any other restaurants in Seattle and it is my go to place. The staff is nice and friendly and service is super fast too. The ambience is nice and soothing.
pratik shah
Food is good, ambience is nice. Staff is a bit lazy- the girl who was serving us didn’t even ask for water or checked on us at all. Would go back for food quality that’s about it.
Judy Gonzalez
This place was so delicious, we had the coconut with chicken, madras curry with lamb and naan with cheese and nuts. The naan was sooo good that we were so full but wanted to try another one. The Basil one was our fav. Service was great too, she explained the food for us. We came from Texas and if we ever come back to Seattle this will be a definite stop!
Raney Newman
I got a lot of food and it was not too expensive. Really good were the appetizer of 2 tender samosas with 2 yummy dipping sauces for $6! Then $6 spicy, cilantro lentil soup. And $14 for main course of bit 2 spicy roasted eggplant with perfectly cooked and presented basmati rice. Nice ambience and music, laidback indian hiphop and pop. In fact the atmosphere felt pretty fancy yet homey.
Luke Videckis
I asked for 5 out of 5 spice, and they respected my ask - it was decently spicy (this is good)
Although we ordered 3 different naans. We received 8 pieces, of 2 different types (4 pieces of each type). So we suspect we didn't get the third naan. (Also it was quite busy, so I can understand that somewhere our order was messed up. I'm not upset about not getting the naan) But the waiter insisted we got all 3 and charged us for all 3.
To be clear, I don't mind being charged extra. I'm upset about the dishonesty from the waiter
Despite this, the quality of their curries is quite high
Aman Gahlawat
wow, One of the best indian restaurant that i had ever tried in seattle. kanak indian cuisine this name is really the leader of the indian restaurants in seattle i came here from colorado for a trip and I was craving for some indian food and ended up being in kanak. Me and my girlfriend ordered rack of lamb mango and side of paneer naan which is actually cottage cheese filled in the naan with indian spices and the rack of lamb was fabulous and delicious. Speacial thanks to the server, I actually don’t know her name but she was good and she was not even indian and she explained everything so properly i hope next time when i will come to seattle, I definitely gonna stop here for their delicious food. Thanks to the chef as well.
Vishnu R
One of the very few places in downtown Seattle where you can get good quality Indian food. The customer service is so good that they are even willing to make dishes not mentioned in the menu for the customers.
Vishwa Karia
Best Jain Indian food in Seattle!
They have tons of options, I’ve tried the Paneer Shahi and Malai Kofta, both are delicious :) Their Mango Lassi is also good, just the right amount of sweetness.
Thanks for accommodating people with dietary restrictions!
Amit Maindola
I came here with my team for a team lunch and it was nice to visit the restaurant. Food was good, service was good and the overall experience was really nice. Do visit her to try some Punjabi style food.
Jakob Bindslet
Great Indian cuisine. Will certainly come back
abhishek singh
Food was sweet for Indian pallet even though they made it spicy. Spicy is just not adding chilly powder but spices
Vippen Kaur
Great original Punjabi taste of food, nice vibe and atmosphere for a family dine-in. Would go again to try all other dishes.
Nishanth K
Excellent food in downtown with authentic Indian taste. Go for it if you want to try more of Punjabi/North Indian food.
Rupesh Deshmukh
Great taste and good quantity. I always order pick-up, but there's plenty of seating space inside the restaurant. They provide complimentary basmati rice with every food order. The staff are quick and helpful. Finding the store is a bit confusing since it says some "Bakery" on the front instead of the restaurant name.
Pratik Ratadiya
Food is good, staff is well receptive. Wide range of options in north Indian cuisine. Ordered the mango lassi, shahi korma, and naan.
Lerrin Bergstein
Best Indian food in Seattle! Service was fast and friendly!
Yuchen Zhang
Quite a yummy Indian place. We came here on a weekday night for dinner and it was packed! Looks like even large groups (8-12 people) frequent here as I am sure they are able to feed a crowd expertly.
We got everything level 2 spicy (out of 5) and that was perfect for us. Everything had a kick but the spice was not overwhelming. I imagine they don't joke around with spice so when you ask for 5, you better be ready for it.
The dishes we tried:
- House Special Curry with Chicken - this was good but not our favorite. Chicken was tender and flavors were good.
- House Malasada with Lamb - this was by far our favorite dish of the night. The sauce was creamy and had a touch of sweetness to it. The lamb was so tender and delicious. Glad we got the naan to wipe up all the sauce.
- Garlic Naan - recommend.
- Aloo Ghobi - I typically like to order this at Indian restaurants but this wasn't my favorite version here. You get big chunks of cauliflower and potatoes but maybe because the pieces were so big that the flavors didn't come through as much. I am use to it being cut into much smaller pieces so the spices and sauce come through with every bite.
- Mango Lassi - good but I could've done without the ice and the straw was useless. Since the straws provided were made of paper, I could hardly drink it. I threw away the paper straw, fished out the ice cubes, and I was able to drink it a lot easier. It was thick and flavorful.
Overall, recommend it for sure. Call ahead to reserve seating during dinner times. Lots of people were doing take out - if you check in on Yelp, there is a 10% discount for take out orders.

One of the best experiences ever in an Indian restaurant. We were visiting Seattle first time and were craving for good Indian food. We searched on Google and came across this gem. Must visit if you are in Seattle. Delicious authentic Indian food and excellent services. House curry with goat and lamb Naan were just 😋. Loved it!!! …
C S
An Indian restaurant with a higher quality of food than the average. The prices are slightly above average but worth the cost. The wait staff could be better trained.
Anamika Singh
Great food, good portion sizes, fresh chutneys and super quick service.
We ordered chaat, chicken jalferazi and house speciality chicken they were all great 👍 …
Dhiraj Mulchandani
Very interesting place.. they have very different spice palette.. the dishes are a bit more spicy than other restaurants so I would recommend going a little less than your usual spice level... on a side not their sizzles don't sizzle :( ...
myra odonoghue
Visiting Seattle and we stopped here for dinner. Superb onion kulcha and aloo bhindi. Our waitress managed all the tables and gave great service. Wines reasonably priced. Worth a visit if you are looking for good Indian food at a decent price
Tom O'Neill
Excellent food and excellent service. Highly recommended.
Russell Townshend
Solid Indian food. Not spectacular, but high quality and fresh. The naan bread is very good.
Tara Manikkam
The flavor of the chicken tikka masala was too sweet for my liking. On the bright side the restaurant is spotless and the service is great.
Francesco Di Lillo
Indian restaurant in Seattle. The restaurant is not very big, but I managed to find a table without a reservation. Food was good, but nothing else to add.
Benjamin Pilatovsky
Awesome place. Tasty food. Many choices including rare bread options, like mint / chili / spinach naans
Abigail Harris-Culver
The staff were really attentive and the samosas were delicious, quite possibly the best I've ever had. The garlic naan was also good - hot and fragrant. However, the entree was bland. We ordered the okra and potatoes, and asked for a "hot" spice level. It arrived warm, but everything else was lackluster. It was dry, needed salt, and was barely spiced in general. Certainly not spicy as in hot. Would come back for the samosas but not sure about the main dishes.
Nicholas Andrea
Had the house curry, with chicken.
Wife had the marsala.
Ordered to much naan bread.
Very very good
T J
I ordered 2 curries, extra rice and naan, but received that minus 1 curry. So we ordered the missing curry again, but when it arrived it wasn’t even the right curry I ordered. So they forgot my curry first door dash trip, and then second trip didn’t even send the correct item. How or why would I order here again? The only reason I gave 3 stars instead of 1 or 2 is the food had good flavor, but for missing items and then wrong items im unsatisfied.
Lee Phoebe
I like the curry favor. We order nann, but curry also comes with rice. So, we are so full.
Aditya S
Good quality and quantity of food. Ambience is average. Will be visiting again.
Aditya Agrawal
Best Butter Chicken in town! We also ordered Malai Kofta which was delicious as well. For Delhi level spice, I would recommend ‘extra hot’. The lamb boti kebab was chewy though. They did replace it with (guess what) - Butter Chicken! However, the owner was not happy upon receiving the feedback. Would recommend the restaurant to value all and every feedback. Would always order Butter Chicken from them! They also had a good portion size of Garlic Naan. Sufficient for party of 2.
payal shah
Restaurant serves amazing jain food and it does has Indian taste...do try this Restaurant if you want to have typical Indian taste
Mohammed Ali Qasim
Very nice restaurant, food is cleanly cooked as you can feel it, service is brilliant and crew are so kind and cooperative.
Emma Rao
Excellent chair side manner, excellent food, love this place !
Mango curry was yummy , will definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone!
Manesh Lakhani
Very good food and good service. They also know how to make it spicy so do not ask for Hot unless you really like spice 😀 Indian restaurants in Seattle are generally shocking. Finally we have found one that we will come back to. …
Nora Asadolahi
Ordered shahi korma was extremely spicy although I emphasized I prefer very mild. Quality was just mediocre…

This is one of the best Indian Restaurants I've ever been to in US. I'm not joking when I say I've been to more than 100 Indian Restaurants in more than 15 states across US and this is easily is in my top 3.
The Taste of the curries, the texture, the freshness, the quality of the food was unmatched. Quantity served for each dish is enough for one person. Some of the dishes I'd recommend are Biryanis, Shahi Paneer, and any choice of Protein (Paneer, Chicken,Lamb) with Butter masala or Vandaloo.
The pricing was also very reasonable for the dishes and expect spending $15-$25 per person.
Would I recommend this restaurant? 100% Yes, you will not regret,go for it!
Shawn Hutcherson
The food and service were amazing! The portion sizes were almost too big and the flavor was outstanding (chicken vandaloo). They also have a good selection of beer and wine. Easily in my top 3 Indian food restaurants. Highly recommend.
Rehan Manzoor
Great food, ate garlic bread with daal tadka. Reminded me of Pakistan.
Thank you for the great food!!
Maulik Patel
Lovely place to have Indian food in Seattle.
They offer variety of Indian veg and non veg dishes.
They also serve Jain specialty which was delicious too.
Great service , great food.
Must visit.

Great service, amazing food, very clean!!
A little gem for Indian food. Leaving heavy on satisfaction and lightly impacted on the pocket :)
Would recommend to anyone looking for authentic Indian food!

Food was okay, service was also good. But nothing outstanding. Overall good option to try if you are in the area.
Tristan C.
Delicious and authentic Indian cuisine. My partner which is Indian said it was the best Indian food they have had in Seattle yet!! The homemade Malai Kulfi was absolutely delicious, would 100 percent recommend. The service didn't disappoint either. 🤗
Dylan B.
The understated restaurant does not reflect the quality of the food. This place is easy to miss, but should be given a chance. The food will have you wanting more.
Akash Agarwal
Very nice Indian restaurant in downtown Seattle. The staff is very friendly.
Christine Vu
I've been here multiple times. Dining in and order to go. Their veggie samosa are really good. The papri chaat is ok. Went there with an Indian friend and he's like it's not the same but it's not bad. Their naan is so good. We accidently ordered too many and then froze it and reheat it in the oven and it was still good. We normally get the butter masala with some protein, ie, paneer, chicken, or lamb. Their spicy level isn't too bad. I'm kind of wimpy when it comes to spice but I can tolerate a medium hot. Tandoori chicken is normally really good and juicy.
Rajinder Sungu
Home style Indian dishes. Great service. Clean. Good portions. Lots of vegetarian options. Can't wait to come back to Seattle and eat here again.
Adam D'Ambra (RAD-CON LLC)
Just was walking by and decided to stop in for a quick bite. The place had a pleasant atmosphere, quick service and the food was great!
I normally go to a place out in poulsbo which I think is my all-time favorite but this is probably the next best.
Jordan .P
Outstanding food here. The portions were great for the price and the quality was next level. The soup we had was the best. This is a must try!
Amresh Kumar
I loved the food here. We ordered many items and every preparation was just amazing.
Michael G. Barash
Really good food at reasonable prices
Dan Lewis
I eat a ton of Indian, and the naan here is tip top, with several varieties to choose from. Excellent char and crisp, yet light and fluffy texture in the crumb. Curries are quite good - we enjoyed the coconut. We ordered "medium" spice, and it was certainly weak European-medium spice level and not Indian medium. So, adjust your expectation there. Definitely good food, with lots of desi people eating there, so you know it is a respected spot. Highly recommended.
Harwinder Singh (LAADi)
Very delicious healthy food , highly recommended, it reminds me taste of my hometown . Love it
Aparna Rae
Good food, friendly service. Not overly sweet, full of cream or oily. Tried a chicken curry & baigan bharta - both well spiced.
Connor Weins
Back when my wife and I lived in Capitol Hill this was our favorite restaurant on 15th - we were so excited to see they had reopened! The Goa coconut curry tastes exactly as good as we remember and the samosa and vindaloo were excellent. Can't wait to order again :)
Imran Dawood
Food was okay, not authentic Biriyani taste though.
satx
Writing this review because it is well deserved and it's so difficult to find good Indian food in Seattle without going Eastside. The flavors are great and represent truly North Indian food without overcompensating or undermining the taste. I loved Malai Kofta and Paneer Korma so much that I re-ordered the same thing the next day. Tastes were consistent!
Hannah Gooding
Great food for great prices. The staff are friendly and everything we ordered was delicious! They are generous with the rice and naan, which is ideal. The food was still hot when we picked it up and everything tasted fresh. So glad Belltown has this great Indian spot!
Noel O
Delicious food, really fresh, with fast and friendly service. I had the chicken Tikka masala, with extra yogurt (not sure if yogurt is exactly the right word but a thick creamy yogurt based sauce). Couldn't stop eating, just delicious?
Josiah Baros
This is a hidden gem! We visited Kanak while on vacation and I took two of my friends that never had Indian food before and they devoured everything! Food was fresh and hot and the naan was to die for! I will be back when I visit Seattle again!
Josie Sami
Highly recommend very tasty food. Loved the chai here .
Sathish A Gajaraju
Hosted dinner for 10. Excellent food. The entire party liked it. Mango curry was great.
Kartik Ganjoo
Ordered two samosa appetizers (each order comes with two) and two chicken tikka masala entrees.
The restaurant looks great, has a nice ambience, and a great person at the desk. The food was amazing, big portions and very filling. I was looking for an indian place to each some filling food after a long day of walking around the city and this did not disappoint. The restaurant seems to care for their clientele, giving us plates and plasticware when I asked only for a spoon and throwing in a gulab jamun dessert as a bonus.
Considering this was priced very well for the quality and amount of food, I will recommend this place to anyone in Seattle or planning to visit. It made my shortlist to return here next time I am in Seattle!
Marleen Kraaijenzank
Great food, really tasty. Quick service. Would come here again.
Pragya Agarwal
I've always loved the vegetarian snacks platter at Kanak, especially the samosas. For the risk of too many calories, I can have it everyday with a cup of tea.
I've also tried their chhole, paneer tikka and vegetable biryani at different times, all of which are a treat in themselves.
If you are looking for authentic Indian restaurant with some delicious dishes, this place is a must try!
Rajath A G
Great place to dine in. I tried the vegetarian options and they were good. The vegetarian mixed platter is very good. If you like spicu food then explicitly mention that you require the dish to be spicy or they will make it bland.
Sukhchain Singh
One of the best Indian restaurants in Seattle downtown and food was delicious and they have so many options to choose vegetarian and non vegetarian and specially I tried goat curry and Paneer karahi so tasty I strongly recommend this place
M Wahaj Khan
The service was immaculate, and the taste made me crave this food over and over again. The place is gorgeous and very convenient to find in Seattle. Honestly, the experience here was one of the best I've had. The staff is friendly and very nice. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to taste the perfect blend of spices, unique to Indian cuisine.
Sahil Bhalla
Having eaten Indian food in the U.S. across 7 states, and being from India, I feel like I can comment on how authentic the flavor profile of the dishes was from here. I got the Kadhai Chicken and Garlic Naan and this definitely took me back to actual authentic Indian food, right back in India! Great job guys 👏 …
Ravish Panduranga
I was on a visit from Bengaluru to Seattle for work and visited this restaurant for lunch. Very authentic Indian cuisine. Food was very homely. I want to comeback for dinner later today! Highly recommend this restaurant for Indian food if you are in the Seattle area
preet bhullar
We were visiting Seattle and came across this amazing Food place. The ambience is simple and very clean. The food is soooooo delicious and fresh. You get great value for the money. The staff is very friendly and nice.
William Childers
I am really impressed with the quality of food, and the value is hard to beat. I highly recommend the House Curry Special and Aloo Naan; great combo.
K Christian
Great variety of dishes! I had the Goa Coconut Curry with fish and Rasmalia for dessert- both of which I had never tried. Loved them both! Serving sizes were generous and the staff was nice. Definitely recommend this place.
Michael Derr (ewige)
Stopped by for a malai kofta and garlic naan. A bit more tomatoey than I might have expected, but the flavor and heat were perfect.
Christopher Noerr
I’m not being hyperbolic, this is the best Indian food I’ve ever had in Seattle. I got the house curry. It was so hearty and wholesome and delicious!!! Rice comes with the dish which was a plus. Very kind and warm customer service also!
Jordan Zenisek
Grabbed some take out from here and it was so delicious and quick. The samosas were amazing and I love the tamarind sauce they give. I also got the chicken Tikka masala and it was some of the best I ever had. They gave us two free gulab jamun with the order which were a fantastic ending to a delicious meal.
David Song
Great Indian place that just opened near our apartment. Our server seemed new to the job but she was very hard working and double checked each of our dishes before placing the order (didn't get anything wrong).
The food was nice and spicy - we ordered spicy levels 4 and 5, but the food was around level 3. We still liked the dishes, especially the goat biryani was amazing.
Saurabh Prasad
I just loved the food especially samosa, and paneer pakoda. All the dishes and desert we ordered were yummy. The best Indian food I have had in seattle. The prices are really good. This place has recently opened and i hope they keep the quality as good as now.
Kriti Verma
A must go place if you are looking for authentic Indian food. Flavorful, delicious and pocket friendly!!
Shubham Shukla
Fresh food and tasty. Much better than dawat and other downtown indian restaurants. Love it.
Achal Jain
Really nice restaurant. The food tastes great. Seating is limited so make sure to call ahead. The service is fast. Delhi style Punjabi food taste. The samosas were really good too! The paneer tikka was only ok tho but everything else was really good! Must try!
Bjoern Doebel
Nice neighborhood Indian cuisine. Very tasty.
Jean Beckwith
Excellent food, speedy service, tidy restaurant. Great at making food within your spice-range (some of us like mild, some of us liked spicy, and we were all very happy with our food). Ive had four of their main courses and three of their naans, and they were all excellent quality. This is now one of our go-to restaurants in Seattle. The price point can’t be beat either. If no time for dine in, I’d highly recommend takeout - the food saves well.

Our favorite Indian place in Seattle so far. (We've tried about five so far.) After visiting a few times the food has been consistently good although the spice level isn't always consistent.
The service is good although not always fast so if you're in a rush it might not be the best option. (They do to go as an option though.)
They're also available for delivery via Amazon, and perhaps other services.
Fire and Earth Kitchen
Great restaurant! We've eaten at almost every Indian restaurant in Seattle, and have had excellent Indian food when we lived in NYC for 10 years and traveled in India extensively. Kanak is up there with the best. Their fresh ingredients, excellent preparation, service, presentation, and price are all perfect. We live in Shoreline and have made the drive down to Capitol Hill just to have dinner with them. We love their list of vegan options, and really appreciate the kindness of the staff. So happy we found them, highly recommended!

Osm service and food was so tasty special thanks to chef
Aishwarya Adiga
Had papri chat at this place and it tasted really good! Finally a nice Indian restaurant in downtown
Michael Rodrigues
The service was excellent, and food was delicious! Location was small and somewhat expensive but overall excellent!
Kavya Gupta
Alright food. Good service. The taste of food was a hit and miss with the variety of dishes we ordered so cannot comment a lot about food.
Bob De Dea
Authentic Indian food in a family-owned establishment. The lamb was perfect. The mango lassi was tasty (even if premade with syrup). The only thing keeping them from five stars is that I found the dishes had a tad too much sodium for my tastes. (Oh, and 1 star is plenty spicy!)
Venkata Kothapalli
Most of the curries were not spicy even at level 4
Clayton Pierce
Great food! Naan is crispy and vegetables were done so well to complement the chicken plate I got.
Kirsten Kelly
Small, intimate dining. Very casual. Service was amazing. Food was quick and most importantly DELICIOUS. I would definitely recommend
Liam Dakin
So, so good. I'm really glad we made this restaurant one of our stops while visiting Seattle.
Vatsal Trivedi
We went there was late lunch and the overall experience was quite Ok. The place has good ambience but the food was very mediocre. We ordered some Samosas, papad, paneer sabji, tadka daal and rice. Samosas were awesome and rest of the food was flavorful but very mild may be next time we will try spicy. Papad could be done better they seem little old. Not a bad place to go if you are in the neighborhood but i think they have potential do better.
Teresa Pitts
The food was very very good. Restaurant was clean had about a dozen customers. Server was friendly, attentive and pleasant. This was my second time & I would return again.
Deise Anguiano
We came in thinking it was a Coffee shop, asun as we walk in they welcome us as we were in there home so we ordered some appetizer and some drinks, and they were very good, I recommend to visit it's a great place.
Nicholas DeRitis
The food is delicious and I would recommend trying one of the many stuffed naans. They are fantastic!
Gabriel Rubio
Very nice little restaurant my wife and I found exploring Seattle. Very kind owner. Would recommend!

We had mutter paneer and karahi chicken! Flavourful and authentic, definitely hit the spot. Chai was lovely!

A genuine hidden pearl - excellent meal with efficient but unobtrusive service.
Very good value for money.

Great Place and Really Good food!
Kristin
Paneer Tika was samosas were very good. Quick service good food.
Kenny Drake-Sargent
The food was amazing, quite flavorful and lovely. For the price the portions were spot on. Aside from the water we weren't offered anything other to order by the way of beverages. However the service was attentive with frequent water refills. Definitely would eat here again.

Pretty good. I love 3 blocks from the whole 15th ave strip, and good Indian food is very welcome there. Very friendly staff, food was better than a lot of Indian places in Seattle. Not mindblowing, but definitely a step above what you'd normally expect. As a huge fan of takeout Indian food, I imagine I'll be there a lot.

Kanak is an amazing restaurant! When I want to impress family or friends, this is the restaurant I take them to. So far every item I have tried on the menu has been downright delicious. The lunch and dinner menus offer plenty of vegetarian and non-dairy items clearly labelled and the service was fast and friendly. My two favorite dishes so far are the Lamb Butter Masala and the Kashmiri naan. As a person with fairly low spice tolerance, when I order dishes as "medium spicy" they pleasantly hot without making me sweat.

Food was not bad

Kanak satiated my craving for authentic Indian food on a Wednesday night. I was the only patron in the dining room, which was cozy and colorful. The server was very pleasant and kind, even giving me extra rice to take home with my leftovers. I had the goa coconut curry with lamb at a spice of 3 (1-5 scale). It tasted perfect and the lamb was tender. Garlic basil naan was tasty and mango lassi refreshing. I'm so glad I went.
Laura Luna Martin
My husband and I truly believe that this is some of the best Indian food in seattle; we make special trips by light rail to eat there since we do not live on Capitol Hill. Garlic basil naan is highly recommended. Music they play is Bollywood, plus - cheap wine! It's so perfect!
Sarah R. Barrett
Kanak has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants, and absolutely the best spot to go for a delicious, no-stress weeknight dinner. It's right in my neighborhood, and I'm thrilled to have it as an addition to the other restaurants on 15th. Their chicken korma may be the best of anywhere I've tried it, give it a shot!

This is the best Indian food in Seattle. PERIOD. I have been to many Indian restaurants in the city, and none of them hold a candle to Kanak and its sister restaurant, Mirch Masala. The family that owns both are friendly and happy, and their food is fantastic. My favorites are the butter chicken, pakoras, samosas, and, for a special treat, the paneer or aloo naan. This place has a cozy, warm feeling with traditional Indian music quietly playing in the background, and it you don't want to eat there, you can order online to eat at home. I highly highly recommend!!
Jason Fasi
Good sauces and curries at Kanak, and despite using white meat chicken, they manage to not overcook it. The service is efficient and not particularly friendly. The vindaloo, palak masala, and house curry were all great. The tikka was more like boneless tandoori than tikka, but again, well cooked.
Melaina Chambers
Ummmmm! Amazing! I go to this place by myself on rainy days. Great spot to sit and take in the day sometimes. Friendly staff with huge smiles! I also get takeout all the time and its ready in a timely matter. They package it nicely so even when you're late to pick it up, its still warm and ready! Their naan is amazing. Not overly thin or overly thick in places. Just perfect. I attempt to try a new dish every time and never am unhappy. Their butter chicken, samosas, multigawany soup, aloo gobi and any other veggie dish is amazing! The kashmiri special w chicken is insanity. I can't really tell you in words how good this place is. If I get take out one day, I'm ordering from there for the next 2 days! ADDICTING.
savan vaishnav
Highly recommend this restaurant, specially appetizers
Shammah Matasva
Just ordered their Mango curry special. It's so good. This might be my new fav
pratap desai
Great service and the food taste is nice. I liked the samosa and veg munchurian here.
David Christensen
Delicious, Indian curry. Nearly as good as what you get in the UK. Reasonable pricing and good service.
Try to avoid tripping on the steps on your way in/out. Bring your reading glasses of you need them--it's dark inside.
Taylor W
Got delivery from here and they were super quick! It took em about half the time that grub hub estimated.
The kofta in my Malai kofta were wonderful, great texture and spiced well. My sauce was very tame though so I had to add in some cayenne pepper at home to bring up the heat to where it needed to be.
My boyfriend liked his chicken Tikka masala too, he didn't even have leftovers he liked it so much! He also needed to add pepper to his though lol.
Rice could have been a little firmer, but most Americans like it soft so it's no big deal.
Overall, pretty darn good! Just wish they had asked for spiciness levels so we could have told em we like it hot lol.
Matthew Powe
I've ordered from here probably at least once a month for the last 2 years after taking a job in the downtown core. I don't recall ever having anything bad or questionable. My favorites are the Vegtable Kofta, Kashmiri Special with Paneer (definitely one to try), and Butter Chicken (always a safe bet).
Madalyn Gordon
Amazing food. A little slow, but it's very evident everything is made fresh from scratch. I strongly recommend the vegetarian appetizer sampler and their spinach naan! Out of this world delicious.
Sonya Gosain
I always wondered where I could get good North Indian food around here. As basic as this is, their butter chicken is to die for…
Sarang Rakhecha
Fine place. Interesting curry options. Taste was okay but some new curries to try out.
James Earp
My favorite Indian restaurant in Seattle.
Hemant Patel
Pretty good food. Few good dishes, test were decent

The staff seems very nice, although I did takeout. The staff is the reason why the stars are not lower. The food was extremely disappointing. I was so excited to find a highly rated Indian restaurant so close to my home, but the food was really not very good. I come from the Bay Area in CA, so I’m accustomed to very good Indian food. This was not it.
The shahi paneer was pretty good, but it had no spice. I will say that I did not specifically ask for it to be spicy, but I was also not asked for a spice level when ordering. Barring being asked, I would expect at least a bit of spice. The tandoori salmon was completely dry and I literally threw away the spinach naan after two bites.
Perhaps they were just having a bad night last night, but it was a tremendous disappointment. I would have given fewer stars but the staff was very pleasant.
vatsal shah
Great food, great staff and very accommodating for Jain food. They'll make an active effort to make Jain varieties.Very rare in Seattle.

Excellent service and value for really solid Indian food. The vegetable pakoras were crisp and tender and the mango curry was mildly sweet and very creamy.
Bam Mendiola
As a vegetarian that loves Indian food I know my paneer and their shahi paneer dish is exceptional. Their naan, however, was okay--and by okay I mean it was a little burnt. Bonus points for being able to order my food on an app and pay with PayPal.
