Reviews of Ivar's Fish Bar
Great location with outdoors seating and great deals for happy hour!
We stopped buy for late dinner and it happened to be happy hour. There are good discounts on popular items like fish and chips crispy calamari, beef tips and a lot more. So we ended up ordering too much food! The fish and chips was good as expected, the calamari was crispy and the dipping sauces good as well.
I had the ram-ble on the barge which was good, but not my favorite.
We enjoyed our time there, it was a nice day and we could see the boats on the water, the food and service were great and the happy hour menu 👍.
I went here a few times a year when I was little. Now that I am back here and settling in on a permanent basis I HAD to visit one of my favorite restaurants from my childhood. The place has not really changed much since the 1980s. If you want a place that is as solid as a rock, never changing to relive your childhood, or give your children memories similar to your own this place is PERFECT! I ordered one of the most expensive items on the menu, the seafood platter, just to give myself the broadest spectrum of old tastes and flavors to bring back as many memories as possible and that platter was about $25. So prices are not too bad. Even the views from the restaurant windows have remained pretty much the same! GREAT place to go if your feeling nostalgic, or want memories to share with family. Service is excellent. You can show up in jeans and a tshirt or formal attire and still fit right in
Best place on Lake Union in Seattle for an outdoor Lunch for about $20.
Their Fish Bar at the North Lake Union location appears to serve slightly larger portions of salmon than outlying outlets by the same name.
Watch boats sailing from lake Washington to Lake Union as you dine on Fish n Chips. The Smoked Salmon Chowder is especially good.
On the day of our visit, we spotted the Seattle Fire Boat "Chief Seattle" passing by.
Kenmore Air Float planes can be seen in the distance. They cut a take off path on the Lake to alert boaters of intended take departure.
Free guest parking across the street.
Property also offers a 100 feet boat dock and free tie up while dining at restuarant.
Pick up your order, then access the dining dock by walking around the Salmon House Restaurant entrance and continue about 10 feet past totem poles to the outside ramp leading to dock where there are tables and chairs. Crank up umbrellas offer shade.
If you prefer a historic spirit inspiring setting, dine inside Salmon House for Lunch or Dinner.
The Bar offers a large Happy Hour Menu which rates a separate review.
Local favorite(I’ve been coming here for special occasions as far back as I can remember) with an amazing seafood buffet for Sunday brunch. Not sure if the brunch is available post Covid.
We had appetizer sampler, King salmon, sourdough bowl with clam chowder, halibut and chips. The King salmon was well worth it.
Ivars is so good! I haven’t been to this location in years! I love their traditional history exhibits. Of Washington State tribes. Such beautiful carvings, photos and, canoes! Right on the water for awesome views. Parking was strange but worth the hassle. Clam chowder is a must! We ordered the chinook surf and Turf everything tasted great! My pics don’t do this place justice please visit if you can. Restaurant is old so we were a little to hot but otherwise awesome place.
Excellent dinner. Ivar's has many varieties of seafood and chips. They offer cod, salmon, clams, prawns and oysters. They also offer New England style clam chowder which is cream based. For the non seafoolivers they offer a chicken strip backet and a chicken sandwich. If it's not raining, take your food to the outdoor tables on the waterfront with a view of downtown Seattle and the iconic Space Needle.
The best sea food i had till date. Our server, Chris took great care of us. Amazing food and wonderful service. The salmon was delicious and perfectly cooked. The toppings and sauce was heavenly. We finished the clam chowder in matter of few minutes cz it was that good. Definitely will revisit
Solid for fried food. We ordered halibut with fries. It was dry but edible. The fried clams were my favorite. The chowder with the bread bowl was thin and the bread cold, but the taste of them together was decent . The shrimp cocktail was nothing to get excited about. Definitely order the Cajun baby snacker. It’s juicy and not too spicy. We also ordered three soft drinks and one bottled water. Our total was about $70 and seating was picnic bench tables in a tent. I would definitely come here again.
Today my Sister and I came to the Ivar's Fish Bar outside the Salmon House.. As a way to celebrate her life us 2 older Siblings are here to celebrate one of our Mothers Favorite eateries. We enjoyed having her favorite fried oysters and chips together. We also were very happy with the cook as he understood our loss. Although she is not here on earth anymore we will still celebrate her delicious foods together.
Ivars is classic Seattle.
This is one of my favorite locations for fish & chips and clam chowder. In the summer and warm days, sit on their dock and watch the action on Lake Union.
Over the years, the size of the fish has shrunk, but the taste is still there.
They have a small indoor seating area.
Parking is easy, across the street if the lot is full.
The wild salmon chowder tasted so good with corn, potatoes and chunks of salmon. It was creamy with mild spices. With crackers it was even more good.
I also ordered salmon fish & chips. It was ok.
The orders are served fast and the price is reasonable. It tastes good to.
I highly recommend their salmon chowder.
Great view at this particular location. The chowder is good, it's what they serve on the WSF. We ate a cup of chowder everytime we took the ferry to the San Juan islands. Good stuff.
My Wife and I traveled all the way from Hawaii to Meet Chef Jason Castillo and experience this Seattle gem right on the waterfront. I couldn't decide what to order so I went with the "Taste of the Northwest", a combination plate with Alder wood grilled Coho salmon, Alaska halibut, seared Alaska Weathervane scallops, citrus beurre blanc, garlic Yukon Gold mashed potatoes & asparagus. My wife went with the Alder wood grilled, King Salmon Alaska snow crab and prawn relish, saffron lemon reduction, beet coulis, Yukon Gold garlic mash & Asparagus.
I highly recommend Ivar's Salmon House. The long house design and Native art enhance the ambiance. The view of boats going past is on Lake Union was spectacular, the food even more so, and the drink menu was fun, creative, and full of attention to details, such as those Luxardo cherries!
Stopped for lunch & was amazed at views from the water & food was delicious. Would highly recommend if near North Seattle area.
If your ideal venue includes eating fresh seafood under an interstate highway, this place is perfect. Tried the local fried oysters and I was 'hooked!'😁😋👍
The seafood was delicious the drinks were great Matt was a wonderful server and he accommodated a large party great atmosphere sitting right on the water
Delicious, Super cute walk up place. Food was great. If you want a sit down experience, their restaurant is right around the corner and really nice as well. Recommend the jumbo prawns and the Halibut!
Longtime favourite of my family. Great view, friendly staff and fun happy hour menu. Make sure to order their oyster shooters!
Our second time in two days with Ivar's seafood and guess what we ordered the same dishes. Scallop and chips and salmon fish and chips. The scallops were cooked to perfection and my 5 year old devoured it. It was that good. Crispy and flavorful. The salmon fish and chips were also cooked to perfection and with each bite you could taste the ocean and the freshness of the fish. The sad part is we were too hangry that I could not click pictures of our food but here are some birds eating the fries and looking all happy. The view from this restaurant is also just beautiful
Best fish & chips and blacken salmon ceaser salad. Good customer service.
Great spot for takeaway fish and chips, clams and chips, scallops and chips… you get the idea! 😄 also some of the best chowder your will find in the PNW.
Dining inside, you will also find one of the best happy hours in Seattle! 👍
Fantastic food, one of the few places you can get Manhattan clam chowder. Great and friendly staff, inside and out. We ate on the barg, great time. Amazing food and environment. Missing the wooden orca i remember playing on as a kid.
My wife and I stopped for dinner for the first time in quite a while since we moved from Seattle. We remembered how much we enjoyed dining on the lakeside. The food is still great and the service excellent. Thank you for a delightful evening. We will not wait so long again.
I always enjoy coming here for brunch or HH. This place has a great view of lake union and downtown especially on a nice day is nice to be out on their outdoor deck. Service is a hit or miss depends on who is helping. Unfortunately, our server last Saturday doesn't seem to like his job all that much.
We had a couple of beers, black and blue salad, and the seafood tower (cocktail shrimp, calamari, and sear tuna). Everything was fresh and delicious.
I definitely will return if I m in the area.
It was good food with good service. I sat and ate my lunch outside in front little eating area. When done eating walked around the side and saw there eating area outback. Which has dock u could dock your boat at and stop in for a bite to eat r rite off the water. Which is pretty cool.
Was in the area so decided to test them out. The place was busy for lunch but they had a table open out by the water. Decided to try their crab dip, cod tacos, and Arnold Palmer. Crab dip was good. The Palmer was more watery than tea or lemonade. The taco flavor was very good but not enough cod and had more extra piled on. My sugguestion to the chef would be either reduce the extra pile on and put more cod in the two tacos or spread the extras from the two to three tacos. Overall server was very nice and good environment. Will come back to try other dishes if in the area.
Right on the water on lake union and really can't beat the view and ambience. Old cedar log construction and has the flavor of an long house though modern and fancy, if you get my drift.
Quality of the food is always good. If pricy...
My beer was a shade above frozen-perfect.
I've had great service and poor. Last time my waiter said hed check back on us in the nearly empty bar and didn't at all. I've had great service too.
Overall recommend but sometimes I have sticker shock.
The food inside is upscale and delicious. The food outside is not upscale, but still delicious. Whether you're on the go or entertaining friends, this place has your seafood. Always fresh. Service staff is top notch inside and out!
I was surprised at the price and quality of the salmon dinner. Best item on the menu.
For my entire life, forty years, the Salmon House has been the supreme experience in Seattle dining. I lack superlatives for the food; suffice to say if salmon is what you're after then this is where you want to be. Situated on the northern bank of Lake Union, the scenery is a fine addition to your afternoon or evening.
Highest recommendation.
The Smoked Salmon Chowder was delicious and the Grilled Salmon plate was pretty good although not really a fan of the rice pilaf it comes with. Since the food was so great you are probably wondering why only 3 stars? Due to the Covid the dining room and bar are closed and since one of the joys of coming to this place was the bar overlooking Lake Union and the barge with outdoor seating and boat moorage I can not in good concience give it more than 3 stars. Ivars Fish Bar is a shadow of its former self. It has always been a great place to stop in with your boat on the way in from a long day out on the lake. A place to grab a bite, grab a drink, use the restroom then hop back on the boat and head to the marina! Ah yes that's a great story but alas at this point in time it is only a fantasy. I don't think we will be seeing this fine establishment bustling as it did in its heyday... At least not in this, the summer of the final days of Covid (I hope) me thinks the Barge at the Fish Bar will be quite vacant...
Yum, the clam chowder and salmon chowder were both delicious!
Ivan's Salmon house by far is one of the best neighborhood restaurants. The staff is friendly, the food is superb and the views of city from the water are epic. If you want something informal, go for the bar menu, if you are in a hurry, go for the fish bar, if you want a truly special dinner, make your reservations for the main restaurant.
The food is great: cod fish and chips, halibut fish and chips, oysters and chips, clams and chips; white clam chowder. The only variable I've encountered is the relative friendliness of the folks behind the counter: it ranges from surly to delightful. Your mileage may vary -- so keep clam.
Best Fish and Chips in town. The COD is extremely fresh. Crispy on the outside and still juicy inside. I could eat 10 pieces easily
The main dining room is pretty stuffy and smells fishy, so in nicer weather choose to sit outside on the dock, the restaurant and the walkup bar have different menus, skip the restaurant. When it's cold out the walkup bar has tasty hot cocoa to warm up with and a huge ice water dispenser available year round.
My sin and I ate there Friday night. Great crab bisque and awesome views. Our server was outstanding and a solid professional.
I had a plan to go to Washington university and was looking for restaurants. I found it and my choice is good! I ordered clam chowder, fish & chips, and grilled salmons. It is really fresh and tasty! Their food is not salty and I like it. Only bad thing is fish is very small.
Hands down my favorite fish and chips shop. Service is quick and food delicious. They have something for any seafood lover. I go classic with a nice 3 piece cod. Ivars is a must have!
I just flew in from Chicago and wanted seafood. My friend brought me here. Was amazing. Had the mussels, Salmon, and a bottle of wine. Was not disappointed.
Ivars is great. Fries have improved lately. Winter is the best time to go to avoid the crowds. Staff are super friendly. Chowder is good. They even have chicken if you don’t like fish.
Nice happy hour manu and great tacos, the oysters are really fresh and melted in your month right away. The drink is a typical sunset tequila, a bit too sweet for me but it is the classic favor of the drink.
We had the restaurant dining, not the walk up bar on the north side of the building. Sadly, in context of price it was at best, average, when it otherwise has so much promise. Avoid the carrot cake as it is institutional and dry - a 5th grader could have made a better cake. View was great as well as convenience for boaters which upped the review to a 3. Next time we'll buy from the walkup bar and enjoy the same view.
A Seattle classic that doesn't disappoint at all. Outdoor seating available at the fish bar.
Plenty of fries come with each - oysters n chips and the classic salmon n chips were both high quality seafood and not terribly greasy. Salmon chowder is a tad salty but flavorful.
I had a chicken dish that was delicious. If you don't eat seafood the menu is somewhat limited, but the atmosphere and service are well worth it.
This was the 1st time we've visited. We asked some family members where to go & they said it was the place to go. Being from texas & having visited some GREAT seafood, this didn't disappoint. The service was EXCELLENT & the food was just as good. Everything from the shrimp, clams, halibut, cod & salmon was ALL GOOD! Even the hurricane & raindrop drinks were good. A little pricey, but it was worth it! We'll be back when we come to visit again!
Ivars Seafood Bar has the best salmon and clam bread bowl! You can't go wrong with any Ivar's you go to no matter if it's their stand or restaurant. Good quality food, excellent service, friendly staff, clean locations and all are conveniently located off major roads or high traffic areas.
Loved eating there. The food was delicious and the restaurant on the inside looked great. The place was quite busy which was a good sign. We ordered a few items from the menu and weren't disappointed!

Seattle staple with a lakefront seating area. A little noisy outside because of the proximity to the I-5 bridge hundreds of feet above, but we'll worth it to enjoy some fried fish while watching the boats go by. Cod is traditional, halibut & salmon are both great. (Though salmon is better grilled than fried). Don't sleep on the scallops or prawns!
The grilled fish is delicious but the fried entrees were rubbery and overdone. Cocktails and desserts were very good.
Got the Cod fish and chips with a side of salmon chowder. The fish and chips were crisp and delectable but the chowder tasted more like a bisque instead of a chowder.
Nice place
We've been going there since about 1985...but today our Halibut Chips were over deep fried. French Fries could be WAY BETTER. But eating on the water barge is a treat...
Very expensive real estate...heck I should buy an old motorhome and live there across the street. 😉
Fish bar or restaurant options. Can tied up your boat and get food to go. Nice bathrooms. Standard Ivar's pricing. The fish bar doesn't have all menu items an Ivar's restaurant has. Only one non-fish/seafood option (chicken strips).
Updated review: I had to lower the rating because last time we were not very happy with the service (yes I am referring to it is counter served part but still) and taste of Solomon chowder. For $2.49 we got only 3, yes just 3, small onion rings. I think that is really not acceptable. And chowder was really too sour. I hope this was one time hiccup.
Old review:
If you are in Seattle, you have to stop by here! Salmon chowder is great in colder days, and their fish and chips are great all year around.
Consistently fresh and tasty food as always. If you visit, definitely grab a seat on their patio in back - you get great views of Lake Union and the University Bridge!
Had a great fish & Chips from here . Headed to the gasworks to sit out and eat our food.
Tasty fish at a reasonable rate. I tried the fried halibut and fries. Their frier temperature is set adequately and the food came out fast and delicious. Check out the bigger restaurant around the corner. They have a full boat moorage!
Was looking for a place with good ratings at a decent price and Ivar's did not disappoint! The food was amazing and really hit the spot. I will definitely recommend them to anyone visiting Seattle!
Great fish and chips! Rated as one of the best in Seattle and lives up to that name. We loved the Calamari too.
We were walking around Lake Union and wanted a snack, so we grabbed some shrimp cocktails. They were pretty good, and I finished mine, but my boyfriend wasn't thrilled with just how much celery there was and when he picked around it he was left with a half cup of celery he didn't eat. I'm sure the chowder and other dishes are great, so I'm only dinging the one star for excess celery in the shrimp cocktail, as that's more of a personal preference thing and I think they're reasonably enough priced that I don't mind that they packed it full of celery. Good fiber! 😂
Famous for its fish and chips and salmon dishes. The dinning room is very big, with more seats out in a terrace by the lake. Be aware that the room is divided in two: a bar area with the option to choose cheaper items from the bar menu, and the dinning area were there is only one menu. Food is quite pricey, but of course, you get what you pay for. They also do take aways.
Food was great, was super busy and due to many call out service was slow. Once the food came it was great.
Amazing views and delicious seafood. Server was accomadating and let us sit in a covered table on the patio/dock. Views of the Needle and boats on the water.
Good, but not great, fish and chips. More chips than fish; the fish fillets were a little on the small side. Convenient picnic style seating outdoors with overhead heat lamps. Right on the Gilman Burke Trail
Ivars was recommended to me, and it was more than expected! I had the clam chowder bowl, and it was so creamy and scrumptious!! The bread bowl itself was soft and fresh! My boyfriend had the fish and chips, also was very good. Its a perfect location on the water, great view, and close to pikes market!
We went here since it was in close proximity to the GasWorks where we planned on going to watch the 4th of July fireworks as well as being highly rated on OpenTable. We were quite happy with our choice from the cocktails (the Union Fizz and the Mule were highlights) to the cornbread and sourdough bread basket with sweet butter to our shared Ahí Tuna appetizer that had a wonderful wasabi and ginger sauce (which needs to be bottled ... we used some of the bread to soak up some of the sauce) to our Salmon entreés which were cooked to perfection. The view to the lake was lovely especially with a late afternoon to evening sun. Staff were helpful, delightful, and an integral part of the good feelings we had when we left. Definitely worth a return visit when we're in Seattle again.
Good fish and chips. Especially enjoyed how much outdoor seating they have on the water.
It was nice to sit at the edge of Lake Union. The traffic noise from the freeway almost directly overhead was a consideration when dining on the deck.
Ivar's Longhouse on Lake Union has always been one of my favorite restaurants since we moved to Seattle when I was 10 years old. The draw then were the Native American artifacts and photos, the smoked salmon and grilled corn, the fancy birthday dinner of many years.
I moved back to Seattle after 20 years away in 2018. We went there a couple of times prior to the pandemic and took my father who is now in his mid-80s there when he visited. We had a delicious feast and he really enjoyed it. Since the pandemic, Ivar's has become a real close to home getaway. We live on Capitol Hill which is only a 5 minute drive away, but leaving our neighborhood to sit by the water and have some fish and chips, slaw and chowder has been a refuge of sorts. Something to look forward to that feels safe.
The food at the outdoor fish bar is always fresh and delicious. Sitting by the water on Ivar's pier is fun, but if that is a little too crowded for comfort we found a tiny park on the water nearby. We take our pup there and feel more comfortable. We love you, Ivar's!
I like the option of eating in the restaurant or taking advantage of the takeout fish bar. Nice dock for enjoying takeout too.
Handn't been in 15-20 years. Either it is just not as good as it was or some memories should be left memories. People were nice though.
Fish and chips! We loved sitting by the water and feeding the seagulls afterwards.
All the employees were super friendly, the Cajun five piece was amazing. Fench fries were awesome and we really appreciated being able to sit outside, on the deck, in the back of the Salmon House.
Great prices and the food is decent for the value. Fish slightly overfried but the chowders are absolutely delicious.
Coming here with my parents in the early 60s was always a treat. Back then it was outside eating only, I think I was about 10 years old, the fish and chips were always Sooo Good. Finally went back to Seattle to visit in 2018 and was so happy they were still there, new restaurant addition, but still able to order outside at the fish bar and eat outside. Still the best fish & Chips in town. Can't wait to visit again.
Atmosphere was great, with a good view of the water, boats, scenery, etc. The clam chowder was thick and tasty, the chicken and salmon were a bit dry. Service was good, but not great.
It's a cozy streetside shack attached to the more formal-setting restaurant. The main items they serve are fish and chips and chowders (red, white, and salmon). Of course, they sell other seafare. I ordered a clam chowder bowl (there is also a cup size, a "tanker" size that is 32 oz. and meant for multiple people, and a bread bowl for the chowder). The chowder was delicious, especially on a cold, rainy Seattle day. It was a bit pricey, coming in at over $6 for this size (an additional dollar and change for the salmon version), but I would consider ordering the same thing again. It had a very nice "homemade" feel to it, with the potatoes and carrots being perfectly soft bite-sized pieces and the taste being somewhat typical for a chowder like this (so no surprises). It was creamy but not heavy and it was served right away (actually, the wait time from ordering to getting the food is very short, even with other people in line). Finally, the fish bar also has typical condiments like malt vinegar, ketchup, and tartar sauce. All utensils are compostable, as are the soup cup and lid, as expected of Seattle. Given its proximity to some work areas and fast service, I would come again and invite coworkers for a casual lunch.
Great food, great views. Check it out if you're nearby.
A little secret, if you order from the bar in the front you can walk down to the seating in the back on the left side of the building or a cute little bench on the right side of the building.
Always love Ivar’s when I’m in town. I can’t believe they took it out of the airport. I accidentally got clam & chips one time when I ordered salmon & chips. They made it right but I’ve always ordered clam & chips since, because it was so good.
Outside orders offer the best food & dog encounters! "Oh, man. She's looking at me."
I love Ivar's outdoor area. Quick and delicious the fish &chips, clam chowder, or fried clams are always a hit
I usually love this place, but the Cajun fish and chips order I got tasted like it was fried in oil that definitely needed to be changed. Probably won’t get a hankering for Ivars for awhile after that. The food came quickly and the workers were super friendly.
My husband and I had dinner at Ivar's Salmon House. Very tasty
The salmon salad was good, although they didn't pack utensils, so I was stuck eating salad with my fingers at a park. Would have liked more gluten free options.
Great local seafood bar and restaurant. You can eat right on the water and even dock your vessel and come chow down! Chowder is awesome.
Hands down the best Fish and Chips I have ever eaten
Great happy hour on the bar side; lots of options at affordable prices. Restaurant was a little pricey but for seafood it wasn’t outrageous. Excellent servers and an even better view.
28 years ago was the first time I came here. It's telling when a place is still doing the same thing. New paint, new sign but the food is still great. I love this location and the order system. Put in your fried orders then get the rest at the cashier. Both chowders were wonderful and the fish, scallops and the clams were excellent. I don't live in Seattle any more but a visit here every trip is a must. So glad in a changing world this is still realiable.
The outdoor patio is one of the best summer spot. Perfect view of the water festivities
Pretty good fish and chips fast food style. Head around back for a nice view of the water and sky line.
Yum! Loved their To-go window. Easy to order and food was ready quickly. Not a fan of the chowder, but we also had fish and chips, shrimp, clam strips and Caesar salad and they were all unbelievable good. Fries were excellent and stayed crisp and tasty.
The food was excellent, the staff extremely friendly! The view of Seattle was perfect.
Ivar's is my favorite place to eat along upper Lake Union. This last time I stopped, I went out on the dock patio and witnessed a breathtaking sunset looking toward South Lake Union and the Space Needle. Yummy salmon and a glorious view!
Ivers cares about customers. Let them know I was unhappy with an experience in the sent me a credit to try them again. I look forward to the experience. Thank you
Always good food. Service was not good. Had to ask for each item separately after ordering. Odd.
The staff was super friendly and helpful. Process are reasonable. There wasn't any dine-in at the time so we ate outside on the pier which was pleasant. The food wasn't anything fancy but it was good for "fast food" style. I did think the red salmon chowder was very tasty.
Love this local favorite..An icon; located on the water; fresh, wild & yummy selections
Thank you for being there!
Always delicious , filling and very affordable, especially for this part of town.
A Seattle institution (lvar's). Indoor seating and walkup window. There are tables in back with nice view of the water. One of the few places I know of that serves Manhattan style (tomato based) clam chowder. (New England style also available of that's your preference.)
Great view, better food!! Cold beer and fresh fish...try the ahi tuna
Good food decent price but the customer service was awesome. And the food was hot.
Customer service was great, food lacked good quality and taste. Salmon linguine lacked flavor and had almost a whole onion in it, which did not add any flavor but gave horrible breath after.
Great seafood and spectacular water view with all manner of water craft AND seaplanes coming & going = entertaining AND delicious!
The fish & chips and chowder are delicious. You can purchase at the window and eat by the dock. It’s a great atmosphere and a scenic view while you eat
Good amount of food for the price, the salmon wasn't dry and the garlic vinegar sauce is the bomb!
Awesome. This is my first time to get down there. It's kind of hard to find, but on a sunny day like Saturday three-piece Cajun walk down to the water look out on the lake. Pretty good. And the salmon house right next door that would be a really cool evening. I've only heard about it but I never have had a chance to go there. This summer might be the one.
If you're excited for local Seattle fish and chips, prepare to be disappointed! I got the fried salmon and fries with a cup of red chowder. The fish was bland and dry and the fries were about on par with Burger King. The chowder was actually very good but not fresh as I could see them cut open a plastic bag to pour it into the pot. Overall not a bad bang for your buck since fold here is expensive overall, but you're better off finding a hole in the wall
The salmon chowder and corn muffins are amazing!
Ivar's is a classic Seattle restaurant that is a must visit. The Wallingford location is perfect because it also has a dock out front so that boaters can stop in and pull right up.
Food is great, service is great. The Salmon Coho was great, and cooked to perfection. If you don't have time to stay, hit the fry spot out front for your favorite fried seafood treat.
Great and fresh fish and chips at very good prices. There are also a lot of other seafood choices on the menu. Best of all you can take it out and sit on their dock on the lake with million dollars view of downtown Seattle. Enjoy fresh air, sunshine and all varieties of boats right in front of you with no pressure to leave at any time. Best seafood deal in Seattle. We'll definitely come back for sure!2 thumbs up.
Food was decent. The staff was really busy and forgot some of the condiments we needed. Outdoor seating was okay. We would have preferred to eat on the dock but we couldn't as we had our dog with us.
Great convenient place to grab a good meal!! Right on international right beside the freeway, right on the water fabulous place to eat!!
I just give 4 star because. It is a bit cold inside at winter times.
Service was good but the fish was overcooked. We had to send back the scallops because they were burnt. They gave us much better ones and comped that plate, plus they gave us a free creme brulee for my wife's birthday. We had a very nice view.
The cuisine is as good as any other Ivars, the staff's lack of people skills is scary. Their always in a hurry, have no time for questions. Can be a rude. I however would recommend this place, and the food fits great with a lunch appetite.
Hello!!! It is on the waterfront people! What more can a Seattleite ask for?! And it has 2 outdoor seating areas and 2 restaurants. Option number 1: fine dining (awesome native decor and embellishments, super large bathrooms, friendly staff in abundance, expensive AF (as f%ck) menu!) They recently updated their menu and unfortunately it got more expensive and less tasty. However, it's a classic Seattle dinner spot to win over your visitors from out-of-state and keeps the kids attention going with the decor. Outdoor patio with happy hour menu Monday- Friday. Worth it! Still too expensive! Only Option number 2: (unless it's raining) Ivar's has a walk up window which has been there for years. Menu is very limited to basic fishy chippy chowder scenarios, but it's quick. It's affordable! It's quick. Did I mention quick and cheap (every pun/typo intended). Plus here's the kicker.... you have access to a large patio with no staff to bother your meal. You come and go as you please.... you can even pull your boats right up to the duck dock and tie it off for a quick bite. The view is to die for and its very hard to find anywhere else for that matter. Unless your sitting across the water in Portage bay in the grass. And even still, you don't get the full view of the entire city from both sides. Lake union at it's finest! Go enjoy! Bring a flask!
Recently visited Seattle and this place was at the top of my list to grab some grub due to a show on Vice. I'm glad to say that they didn't disappoint! The fish and chips were fresh and the chowder paired perfectly with the Seattle fall weather. It was so good I had to stop by again before getting on my flight home. Can't wait to visit again!
amazing food. very slow service.
Fast and easy. Order only chowder and you'll have no wait.
Food is pretty good! Great stop while out on the lake, bit kinda expensive!!
Salmon and chips was amazing! The view is fantastic!
We love Ivar's!!! We will go out of our way and time our visit so that we can either get lunch or dinner. Sadly with Covid-19 we can't enjoy the Salmon House dining room. That's a real treat! Have a wonderful meal while watching boats and Seattle Space Needle. But, we can take our to-go order and walk back behind and eat on the floating barge....same cool scenery!
The only problem we ever have had is deciding on what to order..... it's all really delicious!! And since we frequent Ivar's, they remember us! Now how often does that happen? All of the employees there are funny, friendly, quick....real quick...and are in my opinion...the BEST!
Just stopped at the outdoor pickup window. Very CovId friendly. Takeout was well prepared and didn't miss anything to be able to eat at the Arboretum. Great salmon and chips with coleslaw. Enjoy.
This is a Seattle staple and more of an old school American seafood spot. The menu has all of most popular seafood dishes like chowders & friend seafood. The food is decent the drinks are not bad, if you sit in the back the view is lovely. Service is great. Overall this is a very run of the mill place that hits the spot but isn’t very memorable.
Just ok. Husband had the cod fish n chips, cod was ok, fries were soggy, the tartar was bland. Salmon salad had a good size piece of salmon, but it didn't have much flavor and was dry, funny little croutons on the salad. We both had a cup of white chowder, it was good but Duke's chowder is so much better! Not horrible for a quick meal, but not great either.
Greta place. If you are going here for the first time, the fast food portion has an outdoor service counter, and the restaurant is around the corner (the door next to the outside service counter is NOT the entrance to the restaurant). Had to tell a lot of people that today.
The customer service for the outside service counter is outstanding. They really try to accommodate your needs and there is about 24 seats speed amongst 6 tables that I counted.
Outside Service is walk up, first come first serve, always trying to save you money, fresh cooked food, and retrieve your order when they say what you ordered. Comes loaded with sauces on the side. You can take your order to go or to eat "in". Looks like free refills too!!
No rush for you to move on, so enjoy your time and perhaps order another plate-but the portions are extraordinarily decent for the prices and you will definitely be full with one serving.
This is a beautiful restaurant with lots of seats. If you are lucky enough to get a seat besides the window you'll have a fabulous view of downtown Seattle over lake union. The reason for dropping one star is that while the quality of the food is not bad, I can't say it's great. I have had Fish and Chips, Burger sandwich and Grilled Salmon over here; they were all good, but they didn't impress me (specially for the price). I'll still go there every now and then mainly for the atmosphere and the view.
Normally we've had good experiences with Ivar's but sadly this visit it was overall not great. The fries were undercooked, the fish was soggy (maybe the temps were off) and the staff seemed disinterested.
Yummy. Our favorite Ivar's in Seattle. Great views from their outdoor seating area. You can order in their order counter to go,eat in their patio or dine inside for a formal setting. Choices! But the food is always on point.
Great atmosphere and awesome food. Salmon and scallops were both cooked perfectly and tasted amazing!
I went to the walk in side, the salmon house, and the service was really good, the food was great, and the view was amazing. If you're going to a sit down place for seafood, I really feel you should be able to watch the water as you eat, and it was a really nice, clear day too.
Geat service from the staff, the clam chowder was spot on and the seafood curry rice was delicious. Also, I loved the views of the Seattle Bay waters.
Great service, delicious food. Definitely go for the happy hour pricing! I will be back for sure.
The Clam Chowder hm hm hm, freaking delicious! The chicken is good for those non fish lovers🤪😝 The halibut hm was amazing! best I've had! Service was great! Staff was nice! great place!
Was delicious, if you want to visit in Sunday you need to arrive before 1pm
Maybe I'm biased because I live in Seattle, but this is my favorite place to go for chowder. Chowder is one of my favorite foods. I've tried many places and many recipes, but this place is still my favorite. The staff is always incredibly nice and I never have to wait long. I always recommend that people from out of town stop here at least once.
I love this fish bar because they have seating on lake union that has just as good of a view as the sit down restaurant it is attached to. The line can be long so best bet is to place an online pickup order and only wait in the pickup line.
just had the curbside service not dinning experience, I think there are only 3 one in edmonds , downtown seattle, and UW area that has a full menu, not just fish and chips. They automatic charge a mandatory tip of 25 percent, it was good but not great food
We've been to the fish bar numerous times. The clam strips, prawns, fish, salmon were all very good. I loved the chowder. The brown edged romaine lettuce that had been sitting around for way to long was disgusting. I've never had Newman's Caesar dressing - not a fan. The shrimp cocktail was tried by all four of us. The cocktail shrimp were flavorless and the cocktail sauce had no pizazz. The two cocktails and salads ended up in the garbage. Lastly, Zesty saltines are bad. Spend a couple more cents for Premium saltines
Great food and service. Fast!
Amazing dinner and great cocktails!
Always great food! I absolutely love the thick, chunky, delicious clam chowder! I always want at least a cup every time I go. Plus lately I've been a sinus grab of their prawns, a crispy mouth treat. Clean place to eat at too.
Good food, beautiful view and restaurant interior
Been here dozens of times and food is always great but the service is decent at best. If the take out window is busy, expect incompetence and a long, long wait. Service inside can also be slow, waiters have completely forgotten to bring me checks backs and rarely check in on guests. Love the food and ambiance of both the inside and outdoor areas.

I picked this spot after picking up my sister at the airport for our first meal together. It was my first experience with Ivar's though I've seen the chain around the state. I had high hopes or at least expected to be satisfying. Ordered to go fish n chips, the biggest size of the advertised "award-winning" smoked salmon chowder, sriracha fish nuggets, and coleslaw. The chowder was a huge disappointment - I'm more sensitive to salty foods, but it tasted like loads of ramen seasoning. I even tried to make it more edible later by re-cooking with more broth but still salty - one of the worst seafood chowder I've had in my life.
The chips (fries) were too dry and tasteless. The fish was crunchy, and I suppose better than the items in my order but definitely nothing I would return for. Maybe they were both fried a bit too long.
The fish bites were ok for what it is - junk/fast food. The coleslaw was a bit soggy and compared to others in my experience, slightly below average. I was really hoping this would be a nice first Seattle foodie experience for my visiting sister but failed. The staff were nice though.

Views and food are amazing! Friendly staff all around
No one does salmon better. Good chowder, fantastic Salish ambience and historic pictures. Right on Lake Union with one of the best views of the city. Quiet enough to have a conversation and hear everyone at a table. Has Happy Hour all evening in the bar area
Great service, delicious food!
The wife and I wanted fish after the game and the food was delicious. We were at the outside bar. There was a short wait because they were busy but the food did not disappoint truly worth the wait. We had the jumbo shrimp and chips with the white clam chowder.
Awesome freshness! Halibut, cod, oysters, scallops, shrimp and of course chips. Regular or Cajun (not too spicy) Ivar's is a Seattle institution, the Fish Bar is great or go inside and enjoy the bar and fine dining.
I’m not a seafood fan TBH, but I had their chowder and that stuff was good ;)
A sunny spot on the water to take in a view of the Space Needle and Seattle skyline while eating great seafood, chowder and cocktails? What is not to like? Fresh fish and shrimp options accompany the usual fried clams, fish and shrimp offerings... and you cannot go wrong with either, but I recommend trying some grilled choices... they are excellent!
Best fish & chips I have had! I wasn't really a big fish & chip person until I ate at this place. I got salmon the first time we came here. It was a little fishy. But the halibut my boyfriend got was fantastic! It doesn't have the bad fish taste at all. If you don't like fish, this is a go for. One of our friend who does not like fish at all tried the halibut and loved it :) we have returned there multiple times when we feel like eating some comfort food that is not extremely bad for ya!
It is convenient to pull up the boat, hop out and grab some good food. Also convenient if you are just at the park and want to grab some food. Of course the clam chowder is awesome - they are known for that, but the rest of the food like fish and prawns and other food are just ok. At the same time, it is pretty expensive. So good for convenience and chowder, not so great for everything else including price. Great location right on the water.
This is a "fast food" outlet, the fish and chips are good, price is comparable to other places. It is fun to buy your lunch and then go to the seating area on the water in front of Ivar's Salmon House on Lake Union and enjoy the sunshine and the panorama. Winter time you may not have that opportunity and you have to use the indoor seating next to the counter. Good fun experience for a summer lunch that will not cost you an arm and a leg! ;o)
Many people dock their boats on their pier and get their meals to go. Deck also has a nice city view. Their food is a delicious Seattle tradition!
Ivars makes most things taste great. On this day the salmon and steak were great. The happy hour drink and food specials in the bar are always worth stopping in for, anytime after 3. A view of Lake Union and the Space Needle included. I was there at a presentation within dinner included, the attention from staff was limited.
Always good. The chowder is top notch. The fish is always good but they use a different batter than most folks and its crumbly and not a beer batter. Somewhat cookie cutter ish but a must try if your visiting Seattle as it's somewhat of a seafood icon for us locals.
The clam chowder never disappoints. Walk up window for take-out, eat in the small indoor area, or in good weather, out on the back deck. Fish and chips are on the menu too of course, it's Ivar's. Great place for a quick bite when you're in the neighborhood.
True Seattle experience. Excellent fish and chips, not greasy, great Cole slaw and eaten outside under an umbrella and a slight rain. Take the opportunity now while there are few people, all masked, real food and one of the best views of the city.
Good food but pricey
Get the scallops!! Don't forget to ask for discount if you're Boeing employee
Love Ivar's! They have very solid fish and chips. My favorite is the smoked salmon chowder, it is awesome! This spot is great for a quick bite. If you want to sit and dine, head around the corner to the Ivar's Salmon House.
Service was slow however they were all very nice. The food.... Eh. I've had much better from this restaurant before. Seems they went down hill. First of all the host did not want to be there.... It was obvious. We got a drink at the bar first while we waited. Beer and wine, normal. A mixed blackberry cocktail however, tasted like caught syrup and old collage parties.... Not delish. The fish and chips were super disappointing. The setting though, I mean you can't beat the view of the city. I guess they don't have to have steller food with a view that good
Well though we have loved there fish for many year, we have noticed that the size of the fish has shrunken and the price has risen. Ivar's you need to improve or you will soon loose many years of satisfied customers.
Ivar's never lets me down ! I grew up in Seattle , born here in 1955 . I grew up going to the waterfront as far back as I can recall . All the way up to my late teens . I left Seattle on an adventure that brought me back 40 years later yearning for that clam chowder I grew up eating . I remember eating Ivar's Acres of clams Clam chowder while watching Namu swim in his tiny little cage . Before he drown .
A Seattle / UW favorite spot! I grew up eating here. Staff are friendly, food comes out fast and delicious, follows covid guidelines. Free parking lot across the street. The dock gets a busy during sunny days if you’re fortunate to have a boat.
Delicious food and great views of the water and downtown.
You won't find better fish & chips outside of Scotland. And even then you'd need to know where to go.
Great view Lake Union and the boat traffic.
What a great place to get inexpensive delicious Ivar's food in an informal setting!
Whoa. DAMN GOOD! I’d recommend getting the fish. It was very good. The salmon chowder was to die for, and it even came with some free crackers!!! Fun customer service and a nice lakeside ambiance.
You can eat outside at their patio OR/on the floating deck. Indoor seating with huge windows over the Ship Canal. Good Happy Hour. The BEST Clam Chowder. Historically designed to be like a native longhouse. On north shore of Lake Union. Can boat up to floating dock. A tourist MUST!
Excellent service and food. A required Seattle tradition.
This is a wonderful place to absorb traditional Northwest culture, located on the water. Enjoy the ambiance as a solo traveler, to set a romantic tone, a place to hang out with a friend, or a group gathering. Come for a reasonably priced happy hour, of the best offerings, and enjoy some of the best seafood the area has to showcase.
We made a reservation to sit on the patio, but then were informed they "don't take patio reservations" while being seated and that the patio "was full". We were eventually seated on the patio after multiple requests to move from the cramped indoor table. The service was ok. The food was so-so. Very touristy. Nice water views. Probably won't go back.
My experience was basically unfathomable. Nothing can show up contrastingly in connection to the air of new cooked fish on the dock sitting over the water while watching seagulls make a plunge for a singe or two. I regarded it before I moved there and fundamentally more when I lived clearly not far-evacuated. Since I have moved, I will miss it essentially and can scarcely hold on to visit once more. Thanks a lot for food.
Some of the best fried fish in Seattle. The fresh halibut is a must, though every thing there is great. I also love the clam chowder, served in a massive bread bowl. And don't forget to get a cup of clam nectar for the road! Nothing warms you up like a piping hot cut of clam nectar 😁 …
Delicious! Go for the Cajun flavoring on the cod for 30c more. Not too spicy, just good flavor. We also loved the smoked salmon chowder, although we added a splash of water because it was so thick. Fresh and delicious.
I checked out Ivan's Fish Bar on a couple of occasions. I would recommended it everybody. You can sit by the window, or even a few rows away. You can even sit outside along the waterway. See the view of the water. Nice cool breeze. Just thinking about the awesome place. Even though in the city of Seattle. It is along the nice parts of the waterway. Eases the soul! Food was a great topper on it all.
Love boating and driving to Ivar's. Their dock is really easy to navigate and tie up to. It can be very busy in the summer, but we still always seem to find a space to tie up to. When driving here, parking in the lot can be tight so we recommend parking on the street. Deducting a star because we hate bacon in clam chowder. Crab Bisque and halibut and chips is delicious.
This is a must do if you aren't from Seattle. It is a true experience just to order at the north lake fish bar. Everyone that likes fish and chips has to go here at least once or you haven't lived. Eat fish live long!
If you want a great piece of delicious salmon in a casual setting try the salmon dinner. Served on wild rice with a bit of cornbread and one of the best coleslaws around it just cannot be beat. All the fish is always perfectly cooked. My husband gets a bowl of clam chowder along with his choice of fish and compares all chowders to theirs.
During the summer try the refreshing alternative seating on the Ivars dock where you can watch the lake traffic go by or tie up for a meal.
One of our favorites! We always look forward to eating here, and this restaurant never disappoints! We’ve come to Ivar’s again and again, and everyone always loves it here!Service is fast, view is superb, and the food is amazing! I would recommend this to anyone who who likes great seafood!
The people at the counter were so nice and helpful. Food was fantastic as always. They have a ridiculous charge for a soft drink because of the sugar tax. I avoid going into Seattle and this will insure that continues along with waiting to get back to the Eastside before dining!!
A Seattle classic that's got great service and food. COVID has things crazy now, but their take out is my emotional support animal. 10/10.
O K lets get right to the food . Fantastic ! Also behind this Ivar's has to be one of the best outdoor dining spots on south lake union .The views are fantastic , the food is fantastic , and the price isn't to bad either .
The best clam chowder! I strongly recommend the Salmon grilled on the cedar plank with blueberry sauce. That's a divine combination.
Always a treat to visit one of the last of "old Seattle". Got my salmon and chips, cup of white, and was reminiscing about the changes to the world with the pandemic, and thanked God that Ivar's was still operating! Predictable taste and iconic NW seafood!
The fish and chips are always great and the service is fast.
Menu selection is good and location by the water is fantastic. Food was not hot, however, and the service was extremely slow. I would put another half star on here if I could though because happy hour on the deck offers relaxing ambiance.
Eaten at the walkup bar many times, we do it everytime we pass through Seattle. It's a great value and the seating out on the lake is great, you get the same experience as the expensive restaurant without the cost or time. Especially like the salmon chowder here.
Best fish and chips I've had!! We had cod fish and chips plus clam chowder. I was in awe by the cute walk up eatery and then shocked when I walked out back and saw the beautiful view of seattle. Oh and did I mention it was literally the best fish/chips and clam chowder I've had on the coast!
Good quality of food with fair price
Get a seat outside on the patio on a sunny day, and you won't be disappointed! We were there for happy hour on a Saturday - a great way to sample their fish and chips for half the price of the regular menu.
Apologies to this location, I left a bad review meant for the Alaskan way location. Me and my girlfriend have been to this location before, very friendly, curious and speedy staff. Food has been hot amd fresh every time.
Me and my boyfriend love this place, especially at happy hour :-) They have the best fish and chips in the area and my SO LOVES the King smoked salmon. Prices are great and you can even sit outside and chill at the lake
A Seattle landmark!
They sell fish and chips. Also clam chowder.
Covered seating. Nice view of Puget Sound.
Last time I was there, the fireboats came back in after a call. (Its next to the waterfront firehouse.) It was pretty cool.
Also of note is the statue of Ivar Ivarson (the founder of Ivar's.) A statue you can sit in!
The crab and salmon were delicious!!
2 thumbs up!!
Fine place to sit by the water and enjoy a good meal on a warm evening. We had baby shrimp, clams, oysters and fish and chips, and clam chowder.
Great view and delicious rockfish tacos
Great food in a relaxed, traditional Northwest atmosphere with Lake Union views of downtown.
Ivar's is a Seattle treasure! I've been going to the Salmon House fish bar ever since it opened. Many wonderful family memories!
Great views from the deck in the back but the prices jump. Money minded people get excellent fish n chips for 1/2 the price out front. Great job Ivar's! You're giving the people what they want.
Best fish and chips in Seattle!!! I can’t recommend this place enough!!! The salmon and chips are my personal favorite. We always order at the walk up window and then sit by the lake. It’s cheap and delicious!!!
Omg amazing! Couldnt stay n sit but the quick order bar was super friendly and quick. The jumbo prawns, salmon and chips were so good and big, had leftovers for later. Awesome awesome yum yum
Ivar's Salmon House is a Seattle classic, and a lovely place to be on a sunny weekend. The service was attentive, and the salmon sandwich on brioche was just right.
Very expensive but also very fancy. Their dishes are almost twice what you would pay in a regular ivars. The veiws and experience make up for it. I had some fish and chips and a clam chowder in a sourdough breadbowl. It wasnt super fine dining but it was enough. All in all This would be the perfect place to go on a date but not just to buy lunch .
Classic Ivar's will always be in my heart... but more combo options of fish, clams, shrimp etc. would be welcome. :)
Clam Chowder was good. The Fish Platter was very small portion. Our waiter was Awesome.
Menu consists of fish and chips and chowder. Order at window (1 line to order and 1 to pay!?!) and walk down to the dock an grab a table by the water. Pretty nice.
Excellent food in an interesting Seattle view location. Almost right under the I-5 bridge on the water. This is an historic Seattle restaurant sure to satisfy the masses. Great food, excellent service and a fabulous local seafood and drink menu.
The people giving this place bad reviews are jerks. This place is a Seattle staple. Plus, this one has a fantastic location. If you like fish and chips, you'll love it. Nothing more to say.
Other than that the sun was shining into the restaurant and the shades didn't help much. Fish sample plate with mashed potatoes, chopped cucumbers and squash was very good. Right on the edge of Lake Washington. Went on 1/1/2018.
This is a quirky Seattle tradition. The two step ordering process is really odd with the seafood choices are classic in the waterfront location is special.
Service was fast. The seagulls were eating the fish and by far made my experience. Food had to try. Not big on the fish reminds me of a long johns but few steps up.
Clam chowder (cream sauce) was delicious! You can also sit at their outdoor patio and look at the water & Seattle skyline.
Great spot for a nice seafood dinner.
Good food, but the restaurant tries too hard to distinguish itself as a fancy version of the classic waterfront store. If you want Ivar's, go to the walk up counter and take your food to the park instead of dining at the restaurant
Food is always fantastic, we had to wait over an hour for a table on a Wednesday night but the service was great and the drinks were flowing.
I always take the time to dine at Ivan's when I am in the Seattle area. Such good chowder! Makes me wish I lived in the northwest!
Salmon in the Salmon Cesar was dry; pawns in the jumbo pawns and chips we're pretty salty; I really liked the white clam chowder, though.
When you've had a long 7 hour travel day and you're tired, you're exhausted, you smell like airport and your feet hurt, Ivar's is the absolute cure to those all. The clam chowder alone is reason enough to go back out one more time and enjoy a good meal. The salmon dinner is excellent, and the halibut is delicious.
Great outdoor deck. Great service and amazing views
I loved the restaurant by the water but since it closed I decided to give it a try. And I loved it! They even managed to fix me a gluten free fish and chips ❤️
Love this place who doesn't. Seattle's best clam chowder and fish & chips. had the fish platter on this particular day was wonderful. great views & staff is wonderful
Had lunch and our dishes were amazing. Rockfish Tacos and Seafood Medley.
Our waiter David was very helpful and tended to us promptly.
Will be going back again!!
A truly stunning view of the Mountlake waterfront. The menu is almost entirely seafood with the exception of one steak dish. That being said if your in the mood for some quality seafood this is your spot.
I always love Ivar's! Best chowder around - and where else can you get fried salmon?
Went to experience something very Seattle. It was great. I'm just a simple hillbilly from Illinois do I would call this a splurge restaurant due to the prices but its worth the splurge. Thanks for a wonderful truly Seattle experience.
The food is very ok. Classics like fish & chips and the clam chowder are good but some of the higher price items and specials just don’t live up to the hype.
My son got married! Our dinner was at Ivar's after the ceremony. Social Distancing. Perfect evening! Thanks Lindsay and Jacob! We love you!
First time there and liked it. Friendly staff. Cool atmosphere. Great views. Only complaint was how much salt they used in their food. It was excessive for me. But 4 stars.
Delicious! Our server, Zach, was super friendly and helpful in making dinner choices. Lots of classic and interesting seafood options. Fun decor. Very Seattle.
Ivars is an iconic Northwest seafood restaurant. It is not gourmet food, but it is tasty, well prepared and comforting. A great place to build family memories around meals.
Very good! I had the plate called a taste of the northwest and it was delicious.
Good food served relatively quickly. The ordering process is complicated and confusing. There is even a sign telling the customer what the steps are. Most customers seemed confused anyway. Don’t stay away, just be prepared for a little chaos.
Good fish and chips, but you cannot order nonalcoholic beverages online.
Had the Cajun Cod this time, along with coleslaw, sooooo good!! Loved sitting on Ivar's pier outback watching boats, kayaks and canoes pass by, with a great view of the space needle downtown.
Excellent food!! Great and friendly service, and a beautiful view!
Typical seafood place. Longtime establishment, friendly staff but food is just okay for me. Too much beading in their fried items but will give you tons of fries which is a filler.
Seattle classic that you've gotta experience! Go to the dock area for seating to view the Seattle skyline. Plus fantastic food! Get the chowder.
Good fish & chips. Service not so. Too long of a wait, kitchen needs to organize better.
Food was soooo good. Clam chowder amazing. Calm and chip basket, also really good. Right next to a big parking lot so plenty of open parking spots. I have nothing negative to say.
Had chicken & chips with a side of cole slaw..... good food, very personable staff. Able to order in advance and just pick up at the window for distancing..... Drop bye and give it a try!
Great view, delicious food, spacious waterfront patio. But the noise from the overhead freeway overpass is so loud it's difficult to have a conversation.
Good place to relax to have a meal, loved fish and chips
Always consistent The fish and chips are great. Just wish they would open the outdoor dining again.
The outdoor patio is a great place to enough the view - all the way to the Seattle Needle - with lots of boat traffic. Food is delicious and reasonably priced.
Walk-up fast food counter. Fish, chowders, etc. Seating is down on a dock a little ways from the counter. The dock is very near the I5 hiway bridge and is on a fairly busy waterway, so it is a very noisy, lively place to have a quick lunch with friends!
It was quite busy, which may have affected our service. The server we had was not as responsive to some of our minor request for hot water, hot sauce, and similar things like that. Overall food is good.
Best fish and chips just like Ivar created. Smoked Salmon Chowder outstanding. Cool indoor eating area adjacent to fish bar with nw indian fug out canoe and other memorabilia.
This place was great! Loved the quality of the food and service here. Very well catered to everyone's needs. They are so friendly, that this guy who works here, decided to take a selfie from my phone to show his friendly nature. Thanks bud!
First time I ate fish and chips here was in 1978. It was just a little shack with a window to order from and the Burk Gillman trail was dirt. But the food is just as tasty as the day Ivar Hagland owned it.
The location is a little out of the way. However, the food and service were both really nice. A touch pricier than what you're expect from Ivar's, but it's worth it. Kind of an upscale Ivar's experience.
Quick, inexpensive, and delicious seafood. Best place for fish and chips. Great clam chowder (rich and delicious). Highly recommended.
Great, authentic, Seattle spot. Good fish n chips. Great chowder. A little pricey and a little salty to be 5 stars, but close.
Good food! Great ambience! Unfortunately got overcharged on my card. Kind of a bummer. Didn't notice 'till after I left. I dont believe it was intentional, but it left a bad taste in my mouth
HAPPY HOUR with views of the city.
Best location for great fish & chips. However the portions are getting smaller.
Always a favorite for our family. Great location, good food, and friendly service. Too bad we don't get to visit as often.
Tasty Seattle staple that's also quick, the ordering is a little confusing the first time, but they will tell instructions at you as they are plastered all over the order counter. Came for the chowder stayed for the fish and chips.
The food is really good and not expensive. About 5-6 dollars, you can get a meal with fries and oyster. You can order something else. The fries is GOOD.
Food tastes great. Fish and chips is not greasy. Overall great experience.
If you're new to Seattle or visiting as a tourist please Check out Ivar's at Lake Union, especially on a sunny Saturday. Fish and chips for lunch on a floating barge with Seattle in the background, sail and power boats, seaplane and kayakers floating on a sparkling blue lake and light breeze is a beautiful way to spend part of your day.
Open in covid with heat lamps to beat the cold or walk out to the dock to view the lake. Tasty as always and never lacking in quality too.
A happy and helpful 3 person crew made it happen that Sunday night! Food was hot and fresh!
Fresh and tasty food! Highly recommend to try Fish and Chips. Plus wonderful view on drawbridge.
Enjoyed a meal with family, the view is awesome. Love the fish & chips.
Not busy, lovely location, lots of parking. Picked up a large order to-go. Got home and realized something was missing. Called and they were very apologetic and offered a refund or replacement.
Great chowder and fish and chips. Fried oyster ia also good.
This place is absolutely fantastic, the food tasted great we were given plenty of sauce to accommodate our food choices the prices were totally reasonable and the guy behind the counter was very respectful. What a treat!
Fun ordering as always, even with the almost not noticable covid-19 measures. Friendly, courteous, and EFFICIENT staff. Tasty food, as always.
I have always liked Ivars. In my opinion they are one of the best in the fish business. They always have a smile on there face when they serve your food. I must dining spot for your family.
Really, really good. Altough, I wouldn't recommend the salmon and chips, go with the halibut instead, or the clam chowder, or anything. I love salmon, but it's not really meant to go with fish and chips.
Best fish and chips I've ever had! Very fresh, light batter. And you get your food fast.
Good portion size and very tasty
There are several classifications of flesh, consumed regularly by this section of the populace of humans that do.
This ivar establishment exchanges the money (for food) for this class of seas flesh exclusively. The flesh-meat is ideal in its potency. Potency being the important predication of flesh or other objects.
As for tables, chairs, benches, ect it is said they too are ideal and potent. The weight, the size, and placement entangle with the classification of flesh.
Beyond the establishment maintains a volume of rushing water. This makes ivar "fish" bar into extreme potency. Together the water, flesh, and arrangement potency sublime into invisibility.
It is not reccomended visiting the food service location before the hour of midnight. Remain for at least one hour, enabling retainment of experientiality. The bar examines multiple universal properties.
The Salmon and Chips sure kicks the butt out of a Fish Burger I tell you Whut
Just went to the outside fish bar, not the sit down restaurant inside. Outside mainly has fried fish baskets. Great food and exceptionally friendly service. Thank you!
A seattle staple everyone should visit. Waterfront views, great grub, and an awesome staff, what more can you ask for. Check it out!
You can't possibly go wrong with this place. It's friendly, quick, and delicious! Truly a Seattle staple. Don't forget about the waterside dining deck out back.
The fish and chips and tartar sauce were great as usual. But the salmon chowder was super salty.
Always fantastic. I usually get a 4-piece and share a bread bowl of chowder. We alternate between red and white chowder, they're both awesome.
Tasty seafood in a beautiful setting by Portage Bay. The salmon is always enjoyable, as well as the clam chowder.
Never pass by without stopping. So convenient, and everything is fresh. Service is friendly and very efficient. And, best of all, THE FOOD is consistently delish!!
This is my favorite of all the Ivars. The restuarant is very upscale and impressive the walk up window is quick to get your orders and very friendly. I'll say it again it is my favorite of all the Ivar locations
Always good food and great service. Thanks
It was very nice place very comfy it was fine very cheap but I wish I could be alone. and my table there's always wants somebody to be in my table with the kids with the grandma I was there before and they all come along they want to join with me.???
Local and decent fish and chips. Really good chowder. Can choose oyster, clam, prawn, ... Other than fish with nice chips.
Now that Spuds is closed at Greenlake, Ivar's is the next best option for quick fish n chips. Different craving.
Soda extremely expensive. Food very good, my cat (extremely picky eater) and I really enjoyed it.
Great fish and chips.
Great service as always. Love their smoked salmon chowder. We have to get Ivar's every time we get to Seattle. ❤️
I love the food me and my friends play Pokemon go we had brunch at Ivar's for Cyndaquil Community Day and there are so many pokestops
Quick, no frills dining. Lakeside seating with spectacular views. Be ready to order when you are called on or you will look like another tourist.
Excellent fish and chips and a beautiful setting eating outside and enjoying the view of lake Union and downtown Seattle.
The fryer was down, so got some baked salmon. Was tasty, the clam shower was very good. I'll try again hopefully the fryers are fixed.
great food but portions are too small and pricey for the quality you're getting
Good service, friendly people. Fish & chips, cup of white chowder ... always good !
Delish! Had the truffle king salmon, perfectly cooked rare with excellent broccoli. The rice pilaf was marginal flavor.
The bathroom is closed!!! We needed to make a long line, The service wasn't good and the chicken was brown! The soup good like always.
The happy hour food tasted great and was very reasonably priced. The service was excellent, our server made our week.
Come on, one tarter for 3 piece fish and chips?
This place is one of my favorite little Seattle icons, perfect with all its perfect imperfections.
The best clam chowder in Seattle!
Fish and chips is mediocre and tastes bland.
Get the salmon and chips instead.
Been visiting since 1981. Don't live in Seattle anymore, but always make a point to eat here when I'm in town. Worth the trip.
Nice place with good food. The patio area is usually full, so consider coming here on the less busy hours if you want to enjoy the view.
Every time I visit Seattle I make sure to eat at Ivar’s. They have best Fish n’ Chips ever! I highly recommend eating here!😀 …
Ivan the Terrible was probably my favorite Russian dictator, second to Stalin. He makes a mean chowder and killer fish and chips. The tangy sauce is something else too. Make sure to bring your favorite capitalist for a Bolshevik treat. Смерть капиталистов.
Pricy, but very nice service and overall experience
Five stars to the worker there braving the cold weather to serve customers warmly and caring enough to follow up on a delivery service mishap with pick-up orders.
We went to the one with outside eating or to go good food. I'll go back.
I hated the salmon chowder. It was too salty and tangy. But the clam chowder was equally good. Had a soothing creamy taste!
They should probably double whatever they paid their decorator. Food's great, noise level at peak times is high.
Great fish & chips and chowder
When I go to a seafood restaurant I expected food to be exceptional. The salmon was overcooked it was dry and fishy. There is no excuse.
We ordered the Salmon and Halibut and they're both great. Plus, their chowder must not be missed! ☺️👌👍 …
The location is key! If you can get a table with a view of the water, even better! The food is good too!
One of the best ones in town! Love being able to use the boat dock from the water too. Its a big Seattle vibe 💙💚 …
We had Halibut Fish & Chips and of Course Ivar's Chowder all on the Pier. It was a pleasurable experience
Food was good, since was great at this Seattle Original!!
Good fish and chips...awesome view of Union Lake...very good service...would like to go back...firt time at these Ivar's
Delicious take-out fish 'n' chips! Friendly staff, comfortable surroundings, right on the lake.
Not often but occasionally I have a craving for fried clams and this Ivar's "delivered" on the takeout!
Always love Ivar's. Outside seating as well as a restaurant inside
The waiter was awesome. I was there to see 4 other people I graduated with from high school with, class of 1982! I thought the prices were too high!!
A real Seattle Classic. Fish and chips is a must!
Great food. I recommend the Cajun fish n' chips
I have found memories of my dad taking me to Ivar's as a kid, and I try to carry on this tradition. He turned me on to clam nectar and I've been hooked ever since!
Ivar's is always crowded when it's warm out side but then again the food is totally worth it. So hey you deal with the line
Waterside tables with lots of sea going vessel activity to watch..
Great views of lake Union, excellent seafood... especially the salmon. And a nice large outside seating area on the lake
They almost always now that all their smoked King Salmon to perfection! Check out there happy hour prices and deals after 3 they are awesome.
I love the fish sticks here, and the chicken is actually really good too! It's really fun to eat out back at the tables that are waterside.
The outdoor seating is a must when it's open. Happy hour prices are decent for the quality of food.
One of my favorite places but I can’t understand why they start to clean their salon like 2 hrs before their closing! 😅 …
Love it. The salmon chowder is great! Fish and chips are amazing as well, surprisingly non-greasy
Ivar's is by far the best place on the planet in my honest opinion. The 5 piece is a must have everytime I run my route that way.
Great service. Everything was great but my salmon was not cooked through.
Truly a staple! Whether you’re a local or a tourist this should be on your must eat list.
Had the Medley. Tastes average. Not much food. The cornbread and lavender butter was the highlight of the meal.
The atmosphere is warm and clean. Great views of the water. Some of the best seafood of my life.
This place is a northwest classic! You can even tie up your boat here while you eat with a great view of lake Union and portage bay!
Just had one of the best services ever quality was top notch excellent customer service that crew is on fire 🔥🔥🔥 1:30 pm Thursday June 3rd 2021 …
Great fish and chips and chowder.
Good place for a fishy snack or a full meal! This place is also right by the more swanky Ivar's which is a great place to go for a family gathering
Always awesome my grandson loves this place clam chowder is his favorite. He loves to sit outside and watch the boats in the harbor.
Salmon was great! An institution!
Salmon and chips was stellar. Little water access park around the corner made for a great place to eat it.
Great food inside our get your fish and chips to eat outside while you watch the boats travel along the canal.
Great place to tie up the boat and have a great meal with service outside. Great views and a beautiful hot day.
Excellent seafood. Good value.
Good, affordable seafood. The clam chowder was awesome.
great soup to combat chilly weather :D
Great place and very popular. Can accommodate large parties. ADA accessible. Enjoy!
Right next to the Salmon House. Classic Ivars fish & chips. Lovely outdoor seating w/views of the sound.
Fish and chips can't complain; Cole slaw was alright; shrimp cocktail very disappointed
