Reviews of Elephant & Castle
Went with my family and had a really great time. They had run out of two their well known pies along with bangers and Mash but our server more than made up for it and was extremely helping with finding other options that were just as good. Good selection of beers and a fun place to spend time with family and friends.
If you love REAL British food, this is the right place to go. The seasoning is amazing, it really reminds me the time I studied in England and enjoyed all these dishes.
I had “The Sunday Roast”: delicious beef and mashed potatoes. My wife had the “Ale & Onion Soup”: great flavor and melting cheese.
As dessert we asked for the “Highland Bread Pudding”, tasted fresh and like homemade. Delicious! We loved it!
Tez was our waiter, very smart and gentle man. Thanks, Tez! We really appreciated your help this night!
The food was pretty tasty. We had the butter chicken which was really yummy, we also had the beer cheese and pretzel bites. I think the cheese had seized and was gritty. Unfortunately service was so quick at the table it was past the point of no return to try and salvage it after along time in our eyes. I advise just have staff be more engaging with the table and not just drop food and run away and not return. Desert was great recommend the "Ben's brownie"!
So originally we wanted to go to Frolic upstairs but they were t serving dinner and ended up here and did not regret it! The food was really good we had the butter chicken and same thing but on flat bread both where good. We got the tomato and feta dip with bread too n that was also amazing. I really want to come back and try more of their menu. Only complaint was the service, they only had 1 server for a Friday night and had wait a really long time for service, like come on..
Had a reservation for 7:30pm and came in a bit early, asked to get a table earlier then my reservation and they gladly let us get a table early. Customer service was top notch and food came quick and was absolutely delicious. Their chicken pot pie was the best pie I've ever had and the pretzel bites appetizer was so yummy especially the cheese sauce that comes with it. I totally recommend this restaurant!
Our server Sebastian was so amazing 😍 we ordered the deluxe burger with fries. The poutine fries were delicious! The gravy had a great flavor. We ordered the honey garlic wings. They were very good. We ordered a cheese pizza off the kids menu. I was surprised by the size. It was tasty. The best part was the chicken tenders! The chicken was so good! Reminded me of Gordan Ramsey's chicken and chips! I asked our server to surprise me with a dessert of his choice. He brought us out banana pudding and the peach cobbler. They were both so good! I think I liked the peach 🍑 cobbler a hair better. When you go, ask for Sebastian! He will treat you right 👍🏼
This is a place where you can relax. The decor is unpretentious and has traditional wooden fittings. The environment is welcoming. The server was very quick with the cocktail although we had to wait a bit for the food. Loved the gravy in the bangers and mash! The peri peri chicken pops were tangy and spicy and the bread pudding with its generous dollops of cream was soft and spongy.
Great food, prices, and service. The music was awesome and the vibe was great! Enjoyed coming here for dinner. Would def come back, great menu options too
Good food, great service. Not long after we were seated, a pretty large and fun-having group came in. They were pretty loud and he offered to move us. An offer which we accepted.
The restaurant really filled up not long after we arrived.
We ordered Shepherd's Pie and Ale and Onion soup. Onion rings for an appetizer. The dipping sauce was SO GOOD.
We were very happy with our choices. The food was flavorful and service was excellent even though they were suddenly packed.
Would definitely return.
The food and service was phenomenal. I couldn't decide so I got the pie flight, the chicken pot pie was my favorite out of the 4. The specialty coffee drinks weren't so great, I would skip those next time. Great atmosphere!
Since I was staying above this restaurant in Motif Seattle, I thought I'd give it a try for lunch before rushing off to the airport. I was very impressed with the quality of the steak salad — one of the very best I have enjoyed during my long life. The steak was freshly cooked to my preferred medium rare and was very tasty. Combined with crisp lettuce, red onions and blue cheese crumbles, it was delicious. I did not drink any beer, but they have a wonderful selection. The bartender was charming, communicative and attentive. A wonderful experience!
As the other reviews mention the service was not great, however the food was absolutely delicious. I had a burger with a GF bun and it was amazing. The mashed potatoes were bland. My friend got a veggie burger and did not enjoy it. We had a Caesar salad and it was super yummy. Great atmosphere.
Good selection of beer on tap. We tried the pie sampler which wasn't very good. The topping wasn't done and was doughy. The pretzel bites with cheese sauce was just ok.
Great place to grab some drinks , appiterzers and snacks. The service was perfect and pretty quick. The sweet potato fries , flat bread and feta were pretty good. However , the mains were okayish. The Indian curry and pot pie werent as good as the other reviews called out.
A great experience. Our server was friendly and efficient. The food was ready quickly and delicious. I had the pie flight which has a selection of 4 pies (shepherds, steak and mushroom, chicken, and leek and onion.) They were fantastic and I highly recommend it. We ended the dinner with the biggest brownie I have ever seen. Fantastic.
Great British style pub with pot pies and fish and chips. We were a large party of 11 and they seated us for dinner right away.
Great pretzel bites, drinks were good, ate outside with friends and cousins, very enjoyable good service, would recommend.
Phenomenal place, great atmosphere, lots of room, and quality service! The food was amazing, as were the drinks! Highly recommend this place!
Love the outdoor dining space that felt intimate even though you're basically seated next to the vibrant downtown area. I enjoyed a cocktail while waiting to meet some friends. Once they arrived we decided to eat here rather than move on to someplace else. It was decent pub food served by an overworked staff who still maintained a good level of efficiency and friendliness. The crafted cocktails weren't very good so I would stick to their beer options or a classic cocktail.
Made reservations for a work lunch, about 7 people. During lunch rush, Everything came out in a timely manner and very on-top of everything. Food is great and yummy. Nice selection of things too. Had your typical lunch items as well as your not so average. I had the shepherds pie and it was very filling and delicious.
Overall not a bad spot for a quick bite. Ordered the chicken pot pie which had a delicious crust but the filling could have used more seasoning. The mules were delicious as well and my friend ordered the butter chicken which he liked but said it was a bit too tomatoeey.
Service was quite slow as well and he seemed to be new and not too knowledgeable on the menu
First time in Seattle. The hotel recommended this restaurant.
The salmon was really good. The vegetables too, beside I normally don’t eat vegetables all of them were gone.
Sasha deserves a big thank you!
We were in town to see a show. Because we were running a little late, we decided to take a chance on finding dinner somewhere close as opposed to any of our favorites on the way - you never know what you might encounter to slow you down. Anyway, we happened to come across your restaurant. I was intrigued by the sunken entry and outdoor dining area (where we were promptly seated).I ordered the Cheesy Leek and Potato pie. The accompanying salad was particularly delicious and the pie itself was not only delicious, but so attractive I almost didn’t want to eat it. I got over the initial thrill and ate both pie and salad with much relish. If I was ever inclined to photograph my food, it would have been then.
Initially I thought the music was to loud; however, the combination of the music and the very convivial atmosphere had the pleasant effect of masking the sound of traffic ( which was also out of sight due to our being below street level).
As we were now running very close to curtain time and so I inquired of my server if we could expedite our check out process. He was completely understanding and got us out very quickly. The place was super busy and the service had their hands full, but I never felt ignored or neglected.
Bonus points for my Pimm’s Cup cocktail, which I had only discovered the night before online.
I really enjoyed my slightly rushed dining experience, and consider this restaurant to be just about as good as it could be. You are definitely on my “return to” list. Good job all around
E&C was wonderful. The staff was super nice and welcoming. After ordering some refreshing drinks, we tried 3 different appetizers: the chips and dips, chicken sliders and tomato and whiped feta.
The chips and dips, had warm and crispy crinkle chips with ranch, a sweet mustard, and a red curry. All very delicious.
It was not busy and we are seated righy away. I would recommend this plaace
Opens late after midnight. Good food and service. The bartender was awesome.
Stopped in a couple times while vacationing in Seattle. Service was excellent and provide great customer service. The chicken pot pie was amazing and I recommend. Stopped in for lunch and then next day later in evening for wings n beers, both were great experiences.
Service & atmosphere were great. Beer was good. Food was mediocre.
Had a Butter Chicken Flatbread that tasted nothing like Butter Chicken (but was a tasty pizza). My husband had a Shepherds Pie but felt it didn't have enough meat and barley any beef.
The patio atmosphere is cozy and well designed. Interior has a pool table and games for those who want to have entertainment.
Wow! What a fabulous place! Definitely come here hungry though. These portion sizes do not mess around. The staff, although a bit tired from a super busy weekend, are still very fast and professional. I would recommend getting your order in the first time the waiter comes to your table if it's busy, or you won't see them for another 30-45 minutes. We got our appetizer order in, but we were done eating them quite a bit before the waiter came to take our actual order. All of the food was phenomenal and I'm sure you couldn't pick anything bad on the menu. They were out of a few things when we got there, but it was the end of the night after a busy convention weekend.
We came in on Wednesday evening. Kayla was our server and she was amazing. Super attentive and even allowed us to try some sauces we were unsure about before ordering. Very personable and the food and drinks were good too!
Overall a very good experience! Small mishap with part of our order (that was corrected in a timely fashion). And the food, while delicious, had a few points that kept it from being totally amazing. Nice, chill space with some great classic rock. Would return.
It's a very large American bar. Good beer, food and service, but as a Brit (from the Elephant and Castle area of London, as it happens), I can assure you that it's nothing like a British pub, as it claims to be.
Update 9/20/22: Stopped in again after 3 years and brought some coworkers with me this time. I pulled up my old food photo and ordered the same burger. The burger was as good as I remembered it and a couple coworkers ordered it and loved it. The staff was very good even if it was understaffed. Clean and friendly with plenty of open seats for us. I still recommend visiting.
This is a really cool bar and grill. Stopped in by the recommendation of a coworker and I was not disappointed. The server was super nice and gave me recommendations off the menu. The food came hot and ready to eat. I loved the visit and I will have to stop again when I am in the area.
I have spend 20 days in Seattle, i come to this Elephant & Castle almost every day 2hours afternoon and 2 hours in evening
This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool the staff is really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, making the customers happy is their main priority
I never see any upset customers during my 20 days visit to this restaurant, which is means staff are very trined
I recommend to everyone , if you come alone or with family and friends or coworkers
Great please. Love it. Great location. Love it. Cannot say more!
The theme of the bar is great and I love the entrance. I was very excited to visit. However, the food was not good and the service was lack luster at best. I can't recommend this restaurant.
Edit: The customer service was great. +1 star and I will be giving them a second chance!
Tl;Dr: The atmosphere here is really nice. I imagine when it is less busy service is good. But it seems like this place is severely understaffed. That coupled with the owners reply to the three stars kind of leads me to believe the following:
The owner is trying to cut corners to reduce overhead costs.
So this is a nice place. We went there before a show at 5th Ave. When we got there it was pretty busy which is understandable. Food took about 45 minutes to arrive. Server seemed really overworked.
When the food came, I got the pie flight, it was lukewarm to cold.
Now when we asked the server what was causing the delay (our show was at 7:30, we ordered around 6:20ish. Food arrived around 7:05 to 7:10) he said it was the pie flight. But when I got it, it looked like it was the first to be cooked and was under a heat lamp.
My friends meal was hot
Now I was just going to leave the three stars and not expand further. But the owner replying to this with a "three star review review" prompted this review.
Regardless of the pie flight being cold they were still pretty tasty.
Also full disclosure we did 15 percent off the Pie flight due to the delay. Which is why I gave the rating three stars instead of 1 to 2.
Message to the owner:
I really think you should hire some more staff. If you are having issues hiring you should maybe consider paying them more. Me and my friends might be coming back. But I'm going to let them know the response you gave to the three stars.
This British pub style restaurant is located below Mofif hotel. It gets quite busy at night but is large enough to accommodate a large number of people. It has indoor and outdoor seating. The fish and chips is done very well with a large portion of fish. The Sunday roast misses the mark a little with a very thick gravy that had too small of a portion for the meat and mash.
There are enough beers on tap to please most. TVs cover many of the walls. Service was good even when busy.
This is a great restaurant in the heart of Temple Bar. The chicken wings cannot be passed up. Best I’ve had anywhere in the US. Make reservation plans well ahead of time. You will not usually be able to walk in.
Food was OK not great. It didn't blow my socks off, even for pub food. I had a pie flight it was good. My wife had the fish and chips which was pretty tasty. They made a perfect snake bite. Felt like I was back across the pond!
Good food and spectacular service. Staff went above and beyond when we asked some odd questions; they could have dismissed them, but instead took the time to hunt down an answer.
Attended a private party there a few days later, and would highly recommend
Cozy atmosphere and good service, but slow to appear. Food was OK, a little bland. Had the pie flight and wasn't all too excited about it taste wise, though the concept was great to be able to try all four.
Had a great time here tonight! We came in after dinner for a nightcap and Nick took great care of us. Loved our drinks and the Christmas decorations. Can't wait to come back!
We came after a Seahawks game, it was packed and late. This is not the time to go here. The kitchen was backed up and slow and the servers were doing their best. We waited 1h20 for starters after the hostess didn’t tell us the menu cut back at 10p sharp (even after waiting 30 minutes for a table).
Chicken in the sliders could be seasoned but were otherwise decent
Sausage rolls and onion soup were 4/5 but after the wait, it could just be the grumbly stomachs that made it tasty
We stopped in for an early dinner, it wasn't very busy. The food was fresh and tastes great. Definitely recommend if you like British pub food, very authentic!
If you're on the hunt for some proper English pub grub, stop by. I promise you'll not be disappointed with their pies! I had the pie flight and it really was a taste of home
We picked this dinner spot for the whole fam... party of 12. Everyone loved the food & drink & atmosphere! Great spot. Food was hot & fresh. No complaints. Sweet server🥰
My husband and I are staying in a local hotel. We decided to come here the first night for a drink and the second night for dinner. For dinner we had the Wee Pie Flight. This allowed us to have all 4 of their pies. Keep in mind the word "wee" is an indicator as they are tiny. But we were cool with it as we want desert. We tried a variety of their cocktails and they were all tasty. My favorite was the Irish Maiden and I don't like whiskey. Both nights we had the same server, Leigh, she needs some serious kuddos she did a great job of juggling her section but making us feel special. Esthetically the place is cool. Funky signs, good music, fun staff. Outdoor dining with heaters. Great menu, such a cool place. If we lived up here it would be our place.
Very nice atmosphere amazing pot roast. Drinks where made well but don't expect any over pouring. All in all it was a great pick for a late dinner.
We were there on a night of a perfect storm. Arrived for a late dinner and the place was packed with fans of seattles Monday night football game. Decided to wait for a table and were seated about 945pm waiter didn't approach until after 10 to inform us that the menu was now just the bar menu and most items were sold out. We were able to find a few things that were available but those arrived sporadically and mediocre. It was our waiters first day of work and with the exception of the kitchen not putting any effort into our order it was probably just a series of unfortunate events that made this a miserable experience. We left 2 hours after arrival hungry and frustrated.
Delicious food, good drinks, and friendly attentive staff. Every other table was closed for physical distancing and there was hand sanitizer all over the restaurant. Very clean and comfortable.
Ate there today with my family. I have been wanting to try a yorkshire pudding for a long time, but unfortunately my experience here was disappointing. The pudding was super dry and overcooked. The rest of the food was pretty good, though the coleslaw that came with the fish and chips was fairly underwhelming as well.
Good food, it was busy but once the waitress did get to us she was amazing, attentive and super friendly. Highly recommend eating here at least once if you're visiting Seattle.
Excellent food, with good prices. Open late too. Already back for my 2nd visit in less than a week, because the food is very good, and the place is cool
After a tiring day at work, with no energy left to explore, we just wanted to finish off dinner somewhere near our hotel. On a short stroll we found Elephant and Castle & found it interesting, so we walked in.
After a quick wait browsing through the menu, we decided our drinks & mains & swiftly placed our orders. The drink options, almost 60 draughts were extensive, & our drink orders arrived pretty soon.
However that was not the case with our mains, it took a really long time for it to arrive. From my observation where there were a lot of people with a badge / tag, maybe they got an extra group of conference people, the restaurant was overflowing & so many orders were being delivered to large groups.
This place is an English Pub | Restaurant, so obviously they had all the popular items, be in Pot Pie, Fish N Chips, & off course the humble Butter Chicken.
Though it’s against my vow to eat any form of Indian food when am outside Indian borders, so I stayed clear off it. However the butter chicken might be their most popular dish, almost all the tables around us were ordering it & the aroma was too good, am sure it must have tasted as good as well.
I had ordered a lamb burger which I loved, a great patty to bun portion size with yummy veggies, nice crunch to meat ratio. Loved the beautifully seasoned patty which was absolutely perfect. However I was not a big fan of the bun, maybe that’s something these guys can improve, decent fries to accompany, no complaints there.
But now I know where to get decent British food here in Seattle and am definitely coming back for the fish & Chips, also for the butter chicken if I ever miss Indian food.
I ate here twice within 4 days so that should tell you how much I loved the food and cider. Definitely get the chips and aioli to share! Looking at my photos makes me hungry for the amazing food.
Good menu, but when we were there mid-December, hubby said the men's room was the grossest he's ever seen.
Lovely staff and tasty food. If you order the brownie for dessert ask for extra ice cream and expect more of a cake. This is a great place for photos!
Food was delicious, atmosphere is fun and enjoyable. Prices are really good for quality of food. Fries(chips) are fantastic!
Great food and atmosphere. I'll be back! Mule Monday deals, and the sausage rolls are a must!
spotted this place while staying at Motif Seattle- food was good - I had chicken pot pie and it was great. reasonable prices. friendly server. the -1 star is about the noise- loud to me, music has some volume going on and I think people try to talk over it. all in all, a good experience PS definitely try the pizza nubs and beer cheese dip, quite tasty
We love this restaurant. It was delicious again..Anastacia was our server. She was exceptional!
The standard Shepards pie was my favorite. I got the meat pie sampler. The atmosphere here brings you right into the feeling of a British pub.
Delicious! We got the Shepherd's Pie and Fish & Chips and they did not disappoint. The fish was so flaky and fresh and the fries were some of the best I have ever had (probably a funny thing to mention, but very true!) The Shepherd's Pie was so comforting to eat and packed with so much flavor.
I stopped in and the staff were the absolute kindest. The bread pudding was also amazing.
The food was really delicious. The customer service could have been better. There was barely anyone in the restaurant/bar area.
The steak and mushroom pie was excellent. I'd avoid the mules, but other drinks were pretty good.
Loved the food and atmosphere. Service was great. The food was phenomenal. The appetizer of sausage wrapped in a flaky crust caught me by surprise. I expected a glorified pig in a blanket and was delighted to be proven wrong. The butter chicken was tasty with just the right amount of spice. The Naan seemed more like Pitas, but it was delicious and worked well with the butter chicken.
Delicious food! I had the cheese, potato, and leek pie. It was very nice to have vegetarian pub options.
Good pub food and a variety of different dishes. The restaurant is underneath another building, so the outside seating is lower than the street and away from the traffic. The indoor eating area is well done too.
It's REALLY cost effective. You'll never found better $$ restaurant for this type with same money. Definitely recommend the big ben brownie!
Nice atmosphere, Burger and a beer Great price. . I Will be back for some Sunday Roast tomorrow.
Great ambiance and tasty British appetizers and meals to tease your palate. The fish and chips were delicious. Play darts or billiards with the latest sporting events on flatscreen TVs all over. A fun place to enjoy that pub feeling! Indoor and outdoor seating!
Great chips with delicious seasoning. My wife and I got fish and chicken tenders both which were great. The cheesecake to-go did not last more than a couple hours in our hotel.
Edit: The pretzel bites were a great start to the meal as well!
Sasha was amazing! I always judge a new place based on the initial interaction with their staff. I don’t live in Seattle but I will definitely hit this place up whenever I’m in town. Definitely a great place for us millennials. Ask for Sasha when you get here and you will get exemplary service!
Waiter was fabulous! Service was good. Food was good. One ordered Shepherds pie. Portion smaller than what most places we have order it serve. Had no cheese on top but came with a side of Gravy. Very tasty. One ordered salmon. Seasoned well. Portion good size. A little over cooked for me. Came with mashed potatoes which were a little dry and I requested a side green salad. Dressing was a vinegaret which was nice. Loved being able to sit outside but because the seating areas are lower than ground is wonderful not to have pass byers looking at you. Drinks were pricey but good. Had black and tan, and Irish coffee ☕️. We would come back here again. Inside hade pool tables.
Good poutine fries, bangers and mash, and pretzels. Good beer too. Staff was a little slow getting drinks out. Fun atmosphere.
Always reliable. Great place to grab a meal before a show at The Fifth.
Superb. Traditional English pub grub (Yorkshire Pudding, Shepherds Pie, Fish and Chips) and a nice selection of creamy draft beers (Speckled Hen, Boddingtons). Attended by a lot of happy English customers (which is a good recommendation in itself). The Shepherds Pie was spectacular.
Food was great, server was very attentive, music was way too loud outside ( and hard rock), but still a good place. I had roast beef,my wife had curry(hot)
Pleasantly surprised by Elephant and Castle! Large food portion sizes at a relatively fair price. Service was great and food came out quickly. There were TV's playing sports, but the inside volume level was quiet enough to hold conversations easily. Lots of beer on draft. I had the fish and chips, and ordered an additional piece thinking that it would be the typical tiny filets - nope! I also had the beer-cheese pretzels and they were really good too. Looks like this is our new go-to place when seeing events at the Moore!
It was a late dinner. We just flew in from the east coast. They serve Boddingtons! Good menu. A good place for a late night meet up!
Fantastic English fare. Fried pickles with a perfect sauce. Chicken tenders with amazing onion rings and honey mustard sauce. Good ice tea and great service! Finished with a tasty piece id bread pudding!
Recommend stopping by here if you are in town.
The pretzel bites with the bacon-mustard cheese sauce was one of the best appetizers that I have had out! After that, I had a delicious piece of fish with poutine.
Our server was awesome, the ambiance was awesome, and the soccer game was awesome.
Delicious food and great COVID protocols. The house salad was especially delicious! A bit pricy so maybe not a family restaurant but would be good for a date
Nice place with outdoor seating. In my opinion the food was good, very flavorful. Wait staff was awesome.
The fish and chips portion are gigantic. One order is sufficient. The hummus appetizer plate is delicious!!
Enjoyed everything we ordered and it's a fun atmosphere. I especially liked their unique take on the flatbread.
Loved everything about this restraunt. Great food choices, reasonably priced, attentive wait staff. Would absolutely recommend coming here.
Cool british pub in Seattle with friendly staff & good variety of british food
Great atmosphere. Ok food, horrible service. Perhaps we just caught it on an off night, but will not be returning.
Had Bangers and Mash here. Service and hospitality were great, as was atmosphere. A little pricey, but it is Seattle so one can expect that anywhere downtown. The food was good, no complaints. I will go back again and try their Stuffed Yorkshire puddings.
Bradley was super great! Attentive but not overbearing while we played some games.
We ordered the pretzel bites after seeing a rave review on here but were sadly disappointed. They had taken lovely golden pretzel sticks, cut them up in chunks, and dropped them in a fryer. This resulted in wierdly crispy ends that took away from the traditional pretzel flavor and left the roof of my mouth chewed up.
Was relatively busy for a Tuesday evening. Service was good, drinks were good, food was just okay. Fries were a bit over and the steak pie could have used a bit more flavor. They have salt and pepper to use at the table but I don't want everything to taste salty. The price wasn't terrible for the area but could have been better given the seemingly lower quality of the food.
Tasty place to eat before a show at Benaroya. At 6 on a Friday night, we were seated right away. The menu was on a QR code, and our server was quick and friendly.
We ordered a burger with fries and curry ketchup, a pie flight, and a side salad. The food was good, but the pie flight seemed more like an appetizer than a meal. Very small. All of the pies were really tasty. But definitely needed to add a side dish to it to make it a meal.
Some of the best food and atmosphere in Seattle. Food is on the expensive side, but it is easily worth the cost. Great selection of drinks. One of my new go-to spots for eating when I am downtown.
Delicious Shepard's Pie. Service was friendly and doing their best during both covid and the freaky snow storm.
Food is great, nice variety and large portions. Dishes are fresh and good flavor with nice presentations. The atmosphere is nice and a little kitschy, it is a bit on the dark side but not in a romantic way. There's a lower level with more seating and a pool table that would be fun for parties. We'll definitely be back for another visit, I'd like to try out the happy hour 😀
Place was really nice! Good atmosphere and nice prompt staff! Loved the sweet potato fries and onion rings... 🤤 The only KINDA lame thing about this place was finding the place.. took us at least 25 min to find it.
I guess you could call this place a TRUE hidden gem. I would DEF recommend! Our waiter was super nice!! He went above and beyond!! Didn't get his name, but Thanks dude.. keep up the good work!! 👍👍
Great service atmosphere and drinks, was not impressed with the Roast Beef dinner. To chewy for my taste. The potatoes bread and veggies were fantastic better than the main course.. my girl friends shepherds pie was delicious!
Great food and atmosphere, they also have places for private parties with a pool table.
Service needs major improvements. The place was not even busy and we stood at the hostess standfor 5 minutes. Once we were finally seated, it took another 10 minutes for a server to come over.
I then asked to start with a French onion soup because I did not eat all day and I worked out and I felt faint. I told the server this and asked if she could get this to me quickly and please...that would be ideal.
20 minutes later my friend went up to her and asked if we could at least get some bread while waiting for our food. She said that would take longer than the soup but finally came over with some graham crackers.
It then took about another 15 minutes for the order to arrive. The soup was good but then waited about another 15 minutes for the main lunch course..
I had the mini pot pies and they were just okay. One was filled with potatoes, the other was filled with mushrooms and then lamb shepherd's pie and chicken pot pie.
The chicken pot pie was the best one out of the four but I wasn't impressed overall.
My girlfriend had an impossible burger and you can't go wrong with that. But then we had to wait for the check. The server was just slow and moved pretty much like a turtle. I would recommend other places over this one.
The pretzel and sausage roll starters were fantastic, staff were attentive and well informed, and the atmosphere was really fun.
Great atmosphere. Being able to eat outside gives this streetside location great charm. All of our food was amazing. Perfectly attentive staff. This is the experience everyone wants when they go to any restaurant.
Good burgers, good fries, good caesar salad. Menu includes options you may not see traditionally in the Pacific Northwest in a dark European style pub atmosphere.
Always delicious! I love the variety the menu has and the English touch. This is a great plate for a hearty happy meal. It’s cozy and the food is always well prepared. I had the vindaloo tonight and mussels. Everyone in our group was happy and I loved that they had Shepard’s pie, bangers and peri peri along with the curries.
Amazing piece of England in Seattle, proper beer servings, superb service, sports on the tellie, spot on, the pie sampler was sublime.
Loved the atmosphere and the food was good. Plus, we threw darts and there was a pool table. They even turned on the baseball game that I wanted to watch. Orioles v Mariners!
Good food. Ho-hum service. The waiter was absent most of the time. We didn't get water refills, I had a dirty empty plate that I tried to get replaced... Crickets. He barely check in on us (4 of us) and was generally inattentive.
He never cleared the dishes after we were done, but brought the check promptly. 🤔.
I've been here before but not for lunch. Maybe an off day.
I first came here with friends in 2009 and remembered we had great beer and food. It's still a great spot
Jillian is a fantastic server! She is most definitely a highlight of the experience, knowledgeable and friendly! Thanks for providing us a great time!
Great food during happy hour. Huge serving of pretzels, great wings and the peri peri chicken skewers were great & super spicy!
I used to go here a lot back in the day. Always good food, good drinks and good people. I was telling my wife about this place tonight and was glad to see that it's still there. I promised to take her there.
The best pot pie I've had! The service was great and the food was delicious. I love mules, and they have a good variety. I recommend the berry mule and one of their delicious pot pies to pair. Two thumbs up for sure!!
Cool atmosphere and really tasty food. Peri peri chicken was cooked perfectly and sausages were great
Great winters comfort food. Perfect after a long day.
Very tasty food! We got the Cajun Caesar Wrap and the Teeny Pie Flight as well as the hummus app. All were excellent. Service was slow (lack of labor because of COVID?), but professional. My wrap did fall apart pretty easily, which was disappointing, but the flavor was very good.
Good selection of beers, good food too.
I'm giving 5 starts totally for the staff, the atmosphere, and the drinks! I got off public transit 45 minutes earlier than expected so I was going to have to wait an hour on my friend to show up for us to eat - I asked if they minded if I sat and ordered drinks, and they welcomed me in, got me a drink, and took care of me while I waited on them. They were wonderfully attentive even as I noted I was just going to read a book and entertain myself while waiting on my friend. Then when my hour wait turned into an hour and a half because of an accident on I5 that got my friend stuck in traffic - they brought food.
I will say the food was probably the worst part of the experience - it wasn't bad by any means, just underwhelming compared to everything else - but everyone was so kind, the drinks were amazing, and it was all just a labor of love otherwise, I have to recommend it!
Came here for a drinks/dessert date. Staff was friendly and the ambiance was nice. I had a Spanish Coffee which was good along with the Roasted Tomato & Whipped Feta appetizer. We were going to skip dessert but really wanted to try the Bread Pudding. I'm soooo glad we did because it was DELICIOUS and quite honestly the highlight of my month! (culinarily anyway, LOL!)
Connor was our server and he was helpful but not pushy, around when I needed him but gone so we could talk, very attentive. I'll definitely be back!
A good place to go. Fair prices for the quality, a nice variety of choices of both British and American cuisine. Friendly service, and our experience with a big group was impressively fast service.
Our resident Brit said the British dishes were very authentic and surprisingly good.
We stopped in for the half off happy hour and it was great, very nice atmosphere and great food. The pretzel bites with cheese and bacon were a grand slam!
If you're visiting Seattle and like British pub food, make this a stop. I've been visiting this place since the 90's. Always good food. The left side feels more like a restaurant and the right side by the bar has a sports bar feel.
Very good food. Friendly attentive server.
Shepherds pie was hot and filling. We also tried the pickle chips which were tasty. Cozy and relaxed atmosphere.
Lots of seating and open late. If you arrive on the Clipper from Victoria at 8pm this is your best option for dining. Lots of TVs 📺 to be able to catch up on the games. …
Sasha was an incredible server! Was going to see Jersey Boys last night, so stopped in to eat. Even though it was busy, she took the time to engage with all her tables, while not leaving anyone feeling forgotten, and was very funny, professional, and on top of things. I couldn’t decided between the fish and chips or the steak and chips, and she talked me into the steak and chips! Great decision!!! I don’t write reviews very often at all, but…Great job Sasha!! I will be back to see you!
Great local pub, food is high quality bar food.
Would Def come again next visit to Seattle!
Thanks for a great Friday experience
We visited with a large group and the staff, while friendly, had a hard time keeping up.
Later in the evening myself with a smaller group went to the main restaurant area for a meal and had a great time.
Great food, my go to place for fish and chips and stiff drinks! I've ordered and gone to the bar a bit now and I don't know why it's taken so long to write a review. Definitely one of my favorite pubs in seattle. Check them out for yourself!
I liked their couple of rare beers with English vibe. They were out of my top two picks from their menu, but third place finisher was still tasty.
Meat pies were good, but chicken pot pie stood out over the beef-based pies.
One of my favorite go-to in downtown Seattle. Great food and London Pub feel. And they always have a stout on the list, unlike most of these light weight bars in town.
Expansive below ground-level space, with terraced patio leading to the main bar and seating area. Styled after an English pub, but more upscale and quite large. The food is good, up-market from staple pub grub, and the tap list includes some very tasty options, both local and import. I enjoyed it.
Tasty pretzels, definitely recommend them. Go on Thursday night for the Brewer's night, $5 pints of craft beer.
Steak pie, side of fries $24 great food, music & good service, definitely recommend
Great spot to stop for a drink or bite to eat after the theater/movie. One of the few spots left right downtown here that's quality.
The customer service was fantastic but we did have to wait a little bit for our bill. Other than that the experience was great, the food absolutely delicious. They aren't known for their burgers for nothing! They have really cool outdoor dining I'd like to try out next visit!
the go-to for when you're stuck downtown for an anime convention, a video game convention, a sci-fi convention, or a tuesday. real solid food.
It's kinda one of the best options for the hotel-downtown. If you want better, go to capitol hill
If you're ever craving bangers and mash or a Shepards pot pie , THIS IS IT !! Great portions , full of flavor ! They have a vast selection of entrees and a great happy hour. Our waiter Diaz did an amazing job while attending us, really knows his stuff. The atmosphere is casual great for a date or meetings.
Good food.. the Elephant & Castke in Portland closed years ago so when I saw this one I had to stop. The batter used on the fish was different but the food was still good. Great server, indoor & outdoor seating. It was nice.
I went to Elephant & Castle two nights in a row since I was staying at Motif above it for a conference. The first night (Friday) was great (5/5 stars). I was alone and got my own table. The food and service were wondering and fast. On Saturday, I returned and sat at the bar. The poor bar tender was overwhelmed by the significant number of people he was serving. He got to me as soon as he could and was attentive as be could be given the situation. I ordered a glass of wine and a slice of cheese cake. The wine was to me very quickly. The cheesecake took the expected amount of time but was overbaked, nearly burnt on the edges. I would have given 5/5 if there was a second bartender to help and better quality cheesecake.
Its great for drinks and the pretzel bites are amazing.
Otherwise, we had multiple issues with food. We ordered a salmon dish and it was frozen. They waitress and manager both agreed and apologized and comp'd the meal. But in Seattle.. really? Staff is nice but probably wont visit for a full meal again.
Our server was so kind and attentive. He took extra time to help us find food my daughter could eat with her allergy. Great atmosphere, great food. ❤️
Very nice place our waiter was so pleasant, food just okay
Service was slow and less personable but food was great!
The steak pot pie here was amazing. I would totally recommend that. Staff is great!
The environment inside is like a confused sports bar. There a plenty of TVs for shorts watching but it feels like it wants to be more than that. If you don't want that kind of distraction, you should opt for the outdoor seating.
Drinks are well made. Food is excellent. Service fantastic!
Great spot for a quick meal before a show. Service was fast. Our waitress was delightful. Definitely go for the shepherd's pie!
Food was really good, Service was great! Really cool tiered outdoor seating.
Staff were friendly and attentive, even though there seemed to be big groups coming in, keeping them on their feet.
We stayed in the hotel upstairs from the restaurant and it was a convenient spot for late night snacks. Their creamy tomato soup is to DIE for. It was delicious and the next night I came back to order it again. We came in at 10:59pm and unfortunately they stopped serving their regular menu which had the soup and I was SO bummed.
Their happy hour is great, some items more tasty than the others, for sure. Really great spot to hang outthe space is huge too! :)
Walking from the Convention center, we had a choice of waiting an hour at the cheesecake factory or getting in right away at elephant and castle. We made the right choice. The food was great. The service was friendly. The price was fair.
Really yummy food, I got the chicken pot pie and it was AMAZING. The house salad was also delish with the vinegar dressing. Service was really good but with a nice atmosphere we didn't want to hurry. The happy hour, twice a day was awesome!
Sasha was the best!! It was our first time in Seattle and she literally made our day. Unfortunately I didn't like the first drink I got, but Sasha made me a new one and I just loved it. Her service was on point and her personality was just delightful. Thank you so much Sasha for making our night amazing :)
The man at the bar was very helpful in giving directions to the nearest drugstore.(thanks guy!)
I made a last minute reservation here for some desert to treat my daughter, around 9pm on a Saturday and felt the service was a bit slow, however when our drinks and order was taken they came back quick and promptly. We had the brownie ice cream and it was super delicious. Friendly staff.
Just had a late lunch there..great Bloody Mary...the pretzels with cheddar beer dip was amazing. We split a Fish and Chips dinner..so much food...all perfectly prepared. The service is really good.
Enjoyed a nice casual meal with dessert. Our waitress was awesome. Very friendly.
Excellent location..
Open late hours
Very tasty food n drinks at affordable prices
Reasonably good service..
More waiters would have been better...
Seriously some of the best fish and chips! Even late at night this place was poppin, service was great. Everything we ate was amazing, drinks were amazing - definitely worth the effort of finding parking.
Very good service. Tasty food and good selection of beer. Also liked the area and the outside seating and layout.
Food was just ok. Cool place though.
I really adore this place. Pandemic permitting,
I usually make sure to visit at least once a year. The food is always done well and very tasty. The staff is nothing but wonderful and pleasant. Always a warm welcoming atmosphere. A very great pub experience right in downtown Seattle.
Ordered a medium burger which was delivered well done. Overall a good experience but nothing spectacular
We had a great time. James was an excellent server (knowledgeable, friendly, and fast). Love to have Old Speckled Hen on draft and enjoy the UK pub feel in downtown Seattle.
Food, service and atmosphere all great. Yeap defo recommend.
Ale and onion soup was good. The brownie was so incredibly dry - the whip and ice cream could not fix it.
Great dinner before going to the theatre. Staff was awesome.
There are 4 savory pies! And they are all delicious!
Outstanding service and food. Always worth the trip.
Fun!! Very friendly staff, great atmosphere and food choices!
Husband and I are from out of town stopped by for a drink and lunch the waitress and food was fantastic would recommend to all my friends coming to Seattle
Maybe it's been refurbished since last visit. Good quality food. Great service a d awesome happy hour specials.
This is a great pub centrally located by shopping and close enough to Pikes Place that you can comfortably stop in for a pint or some food. They have a fairly open bar and seating location in the main section. They also have a nice tiered seating area outside. The service itself was quick and the lamb braised tacos were amazing. They were not that crowded for a work lunch, will definitely be back again.
Tasty enough food, especially the dessert, though!! Dessert is worth it! Pricey. Make sure you like what they're offering.
1st time here- Sunday around 1 and not busy at all. Very friendly and nice service. We had the 2 classic British dishes, fish&chips and yorkshire pudding- both were quite delicious. There is outdoor seating as well as quite a bit of indoor seating of course. Also, a very large bar area. Overall a pleasant place to have British fare and a brew.
Absolutely amazing!! Shared the peach Tarte and it was superb!
Variety of Draught Beers. Cool music, nice service. Food was good, We ordered wings, fries and a mediterranean flatbread.
A place for a good beer and meet friends. A great selection of beers and good food
Good drinks. Good to watch sports and soccer as well.
Beers are great. Atmosphere is cozy and warm. Plenty of TVs. Onion soup was delish. Pacific Salmon was terrible, dry and not tasty at all.
It's pricey, but it is in the toursy area of Seattle AND located under a hotel. The fish and chips were absolutely amazing and the portion was more than enough! I had ordered a shepherds pie to go and unforunately it is pricey for what's offered. It's small and average for a shepherd's pie. All the appetizers were good though! It's cute and quaint. Worth going to, but I wouldn't reccomend ordering the shepherd's pie is all.
Cool place; soft and chill vibe. Good for laid back food and drinks.
My wife and I were greeted right when we walked in and shown to a table immediately. The service was very prompt (my glass never ran dry). I had the cheesesteak and chips and my wife had the jerk chicken sandwich and Cesar salad. Both of our meals were great tasting. We finished our meal with the best bread pudding either of us have had. I only wish we lived closer so we could go more frequently.
Amazing food and our waiter was really funny and very attentive. I got the Shepards pie and it was really good. My friend got the butter curry and it was good. Just a little too spicy
Nice setting, upbeat music, good service. Limited menu, very nice Noble salad. Salmon over- cooked but otherwise food was good. No street parking, masks used by staff.
A good place to take a break when you're walking around Seattle downtown. I recommend the apple cider.
Actually a decent place to dine with friends and family. Loved the chicken wings and
Shrimp gratiné. They play sports in the television here. Going to come back during football season for sure. I've been to the Dublin location and glad to know that this one serves pretty decent food and ambiance too.
Will definitely be back to try the Indian dishes.
Awesome fish an d chips, under staffed but server worked very hard to manage.
I had the French Onion soup (named something different on the menu, but it's French Onion soup), and it was delicious. The beer selection is rather small compared to other venues in the same area. The Old Fashioned I ordered was way too bitter to start with. I sent it back for some sweetening and it came back fine. Nice pub with an old English feel.
Great staff (wish i could remember his unique name). Charged my phone and my energy. Little bangers in pastry were delicious. Will be back.
Great food...must try the Manta Butter Chicken...spicy, but very flavourful.
Great food and service ,quaintly.
Was there for an office event with a reserved private spot in the lower level, which was rented out on an hourly basis. Dedicated server for a party of roughly 20. Slow beverage service but the server was fantastic. Decent food and reasonable price. I would recommend the pub for a private event.
A wonderful place, and our savior during a late night on a weekend. The food is delicious and the vibe is joyous.
Considering they've got the Union Jack Flag everywhere, I feel a selection of exactly two ciders is not much. Beer, ales, etc are very varied and good.
Burgers are very good.
The staff is fantastic!
Prices seem comparable to other pubs/restaurants in Seattle.
This pub had all the right elements. Good beer and wine choices, good wait staff and good pub dinner selections. I had chicken pot pie which came with a small salad - just the right amount. My friend had the yorkshire pudding with roast beef. Side of mash and roasted veggies. Filling. Too bad we weren't remaing a few more nights so we could try other choices. Recommend for a nice casual dinner with them not rushing to get you out. Other diners seemed to be enjoying their experience as well.
This is a mock English pub, though it is considerably larger than a real pub. They have an ok selection of beer for Seattle, though probably a very good selection compared to pretty much any other city in the world.
The food is fried pub fare. The service was fine.
We were there in time for happy hour, which was quite nice. They had a good selection of happy hour apps and good deals on beer.
The appetizers were good and the service was prompt and friendly. It was quite full when we were there, but we had a reservation, so were seated right away. It was very loud, which was to be expected, but it was tough to carry on a conversation across the table. Overall it was a fun experience and we would go again.
We arrived right before happy hour ended, certain drinks and appetizers were half off. The pretzel bites were the best I have had. The cheese and bacon dip was good too. My wife and I had the steak and chips, both made very well. My wife added a skewer of shrimp, was cooked enough to char-broil the outside but the inside was cold and not cooked through.
The sever, Ley, was awesome without being overbearing.
All in all we would return if we are back in the Seattle area.
The good is we were in a hurry and it was fast. My wife enjoyed the vegi burger, said it was delicious. A small side if sweet potato fries was also good and not generous. On the other hand I had a steak salad and the lettuce was brownish, the steak was well done a dry- they asked temperature and medium was my request-it was well done. If we hadn't been in a hurry I would have sent it back. Overall an ok experience.
Food, staff and dinning room all great. Looks a little dodgy outside but you should go in, you'll be glad you did.
Great bar tending staff and very good and fresh nitro brews. I was able to sample some beers from England I've never tried before. The patio was too cold to use but it looked like a great spot for summer.
They have food available until 1am. We had the peri peri wings which were good and the muscles with tomato sauce which were excellent. The late night menu is discounted as well so this is a great place for a late night brew and food.
Atmosphere, service, food, beer all very good! My husband and I both ordered the steak and mushroom pie with house salad. Never has a "house salad" been quite as notably tasty. Mixed greens with a soft (goat?) cheese, craisins, nuts (almonds? I forget, it's not that they were unidentifiable) and a lovely dressing. It was a delicious addition to the rich pie. The steak and mushroom pie was filled with tender chunks of meat and hearty chunks of mushroom. The "gravy" for lack of a better word was rich and delicious. We ordered a side of chips (which both our waitress and our check annoyingly called "fries" which ruins the mood a bit). The chips were perfect, crispy outside, tender inside, and wonderful dipped in the pie gravy.
We each ordered a pint, both of which suited us well, and we're graciously not served at room temperature (some British customs should be summarily ignored). The decor gave the impression of a British pub, while being overall to "clean and new" looking as well as being too large to feel perfectly like one. But the effect was still nice. There are also funny beer posters in the restrooms... Make a trip to read those I'd you have a minute.
Overall I really enjoyed this place, with some authintisty and some commercialism...but great food and drink. If I go again, I'll plan time for a game of pool or darts.
Great food and fast polite service. Highly recommended
Staying at Motif, Frolik is closed on Sunday. Mercifully, this local gem staffed by friendly and energetic staff was open. 4 savo6 pies to choose from ( or a flight!) and a solid rep of British beers. Cool post game vibe, easy to recommend. Cheers!
My friends and I found this place years ago attending a convention up the street and now this is our go to place whenever we're around. In all that time we've only hand one bad dish, and I honestly just chalk that up to an off night.
The food was great. but we googled schnitzel and realized after we were there that it is an English pub. The butter chicken was really good.
They were out of both the grilled salmon and bangers n mashed so I had to wing it. Not bad clean bathrooms and Boddingtons on draft. Lots of TV's if it's game time.
This restaurant has a great variety of food and is delicious. They have a good deal for appetizers during their happy hour. The food was really good and staff was super energetic and friendly. I'd say one of our best meals came from here.
The pretzel bites and cheese are an absolute must! And the noble salad (house side salad) was PERFECT! Also, the staff were killing it while it was really busy during the storm and they were short staffed.
I have always been a fan of Elephant & Castle. It's slightly upscale pub food.
Great burgers and fries.
The staff is always relaxed, friendly, and upbeat. Which I love.
The prices feel a little high, but you are paying for a ton of square footage in downtown Seattle. It's really reasonable.
Great pub in the heart of Downtown Seattle. They have a bountiful beer selection and some great food options as well. They were very accommodating to me as I worked during a break in my conference nearby. The wait staff is great and I absolutely recommend this place if you are in the area.
Alexis was a great bartender and made our experience worthwhile! Moreover, beers were good, pretzel bites were delicious, and the pool table was good too. Cheers y’all!
Reasonably priced, food arrived ridiculously fast, was excellent. Oh man those pretzel bites and bacon beer dip. Jeez they were good. Highly recommend. Also our waitress was delightful .
Really good restaurant with some good food. Bit out of my price range for a typical night out for food, but it could be alright on occasion. The parm chips with truffle oil were delicious. Great appetizer. I had the fish and chips and it was ok. Drinks at this place are pretty good. Will visit again in the future, but would not mark it as a regular spot for myself.
There are a few shining stars at Elephant and Castle:
1: the pretzel bites. *chef’s kiss*
2: the butter chicken - delicious
Great spot that’s open late in a nice area of Seattle! Went multiple times on our trip
I liked my drink and dinner but the "Bailey's Irish cream Cheesecake" was horrible! The cheesecake didn't have any flavor and was fluffy instead of dense like cheesecake normally is. The service was good.
Food Amazing!! Staff wonderful!!! I will be coming back! The noble house salad with Salmon so delicious 😋 😍 …
The food tasted good and the prices weren't as high as some places in downtown Seattle. However, there was a bit of an issue with timeliness. We had four servers - one for drinks, one for meals, one for checks, and another who sat us originally. It took a very long time for the orders to come out and once we were done it took 10-20 minutes to get someone's attention and another 10-15 to pay. Probably was a weird time (lunch, Wednesday), but it made our group's next appointment late.
Excellent! Food is delicious and the price is very reasonable. The bangers and mash are super tasty! Get the pretzels and cheese as an appetizer, you wont regret it. Very pleased.
The drink selection is solid and the pub food is tasty. They also have some interesting choices for food, such as hummus with pita bread. There is a gluten free menu if you ask.
Excellent food, I had the stuffed Yorkshire pudding. Very tasty and well seasoned. Right next to the city center parking garage. Good seating, quick and friendly service. They do need to consider adding a beef Wallington though.
Prices are slightly high, however, the menu offers a variety of choices. They have standard bar fare as well as some PNW dishes. I would say the food quality is a step up from the basic bar food. Recommended - the pretzel bites with beer cheese is really good and filling.
My husband and I stopped in for dinner around 9:30 on a Saturday night during our trip to Seattle (we're from Dallas). The place was just about empty, but being in what we assume is more of a business district, it didn't deter us, and I'm glad it didn't. We had the Butter Chicken Poutine and the Steak & Mushroom Pie and a couple of draught beers. The service was good, and the food was very enjoyable. My husband scraped every drop of gravy and puffy crust off the bowl! If we stay in the same area again, we'd definitely return.
Yes, it's one of the touristy spots in Seattle. We found it friendly and tasty.
The service and beer here are great! Although, the food is alright. We weren't fans of the spinach dip as it was more of a zesty vegetable mix. The original poutine was good! The fried pickles on the otherhand was a disappointment. They were more of a small thin slice off of a pickle and mostly breading. I would certainly come back and try something else.
Food was great really friendly staff helpful and welcoming great food decent prices really fun!!!!
I have been here many times in large groups and the staff has always been good. I love their mac and cheese, and I actually prefer their coke vairent.
Also, I also like their chicken strips and burgers. Will totally be back (when I'm in that area).
Decent pub food. Unfortunately I watched a party of four and a party of one wait at the hostess desk for a table and not being served for a couple minutes they left. Seems more of a drinking place than food.
You really can't go wrong with #WineWednesday (aka 1/2 off bottles of wine)! They also have a great selection for happy hour noms. We regularly get the hummus (the balsamic reduction adds a little something special). Note, you can ask for half pita and half veggies (celery and carrots)! We also tried the buffalo chicken wings. They weren't the best I've ever had, but I definitely wasn't disappointed either. The service is always great!
Good selection of brew and my cider drinking friends have options too. Food is pretty good and staff is usually very nice. Service can be hit or miss, in that I've had to wait for 40min between drinks on multiple occasions. Please note this is not a symptom of busyness, as I've had exceptional service many times while it's busy.
Excellent Pub, great for Happy Hour! The service is friendly and the food is tasty. The onion soup is delicious and the desserts are generous.
Food was good but portions are incredibly small based on the price. Otherwise service was friendly and attentive and quick.
Good service and beer but the food was just okay and expensive, but it's Seattle so you have to expect that. The butter chicken was a sodden hot mess and the chicken was totally overcooked and dry. The special was a roast beef and horseradish sandwich which turned out to be flavorless despite the promise of heat. An appetizer portion of chicken poppers was $14. Won't make the same mistake twice.
Love the vibe in here. Food was good. Nice place visit if in Seattle.
Legit British food here. My coworkers and I love this restaurant. My favorite dishes include the Reuben, Fish and Chips, and any burger. I've heard the beef vindaloo and shepard's pie are really good as well. Check it out if you're in the area.
The music was as nice as the food and staff, without having to yell at each other like some noisy pubs. Nice atmosphere. Ate there multiple times on same trip. Wide food selection. Something for everyone. Highly recommend!
Good service, sausage rolls were great. Would have to agree with other reviews that the pies are just a bit on the bland side.
Attentive staff, delightful cocktails, and great food. The trifecta!
great service, great tasting beer. i was only there for appetizers, of which the fried pickles and loaded poutine were underwhelming. there was more batter than pickle and a normal (small for me) plate of poutine. the english drafts were perfect, but remember you are paying for the import freshness. i will be trying dinner here in the near future and suggest that you try it too!
The food was delicious, as were the drinks. Our waiter was excellent. Quite pleased!
This hole in the wall pub can be hard to find since it's basically underground, but it has an awesome setup outside and inside. Good happy hour deals and really good food, topped with daily deals like half off wine. Right below Motif, if you follow the flames you'll find your next place for a drink after work.
Noisy but good food. Service was great. All in all, would definitely come back. Had fish n chips & bacon meatloaf. Bread pudding was really good. Calamari was bland though.
Beer is decent. Food is ok. Not quite a proper English pub. Will charge you for chip dip if you don't want ketchup or vinegar, and they may charge for multiple dips when you only received one.
Reasonable quality food at a reasonable cost. A great game day pub as there are screens everywhere to watch. Service is friendly. If you're only visiting, this is a great place in the city to get away from the hustle and bustle.of downtown.
A nice experience and support for the performing arts.
I almost feel bad because this place is nothing like it was pre-covid. The food, drinks, and wait staff are nice but being downtown all the energy is gone and the place was dead when we visited on a Saturday afternoon. I will look forward to visiting again in the future. And in the meantime I will be happy to go back to make sure they are still here when we get back to normal.
The atmosphere is great! The food was delicious I definitely want to come again. It is in the basement about one and a half flights not bad stairs but wasn't expecting them. Music is at a reasonable level and a good selection.
Food amd service was good.
The portions are massive and service was good. I tried the fish and chips, peri peri chicken as well as the hummus and naan bread. The naan and hummus portion size is probably enough for 4 people so when combined with the main entree it becomes alot of food! A overall good dining experience.
Food for happiness!!! I got a pot pie beef and mushrooms and it had such a home feeling that made me so happy 😃
I had a Boddingtons. The bartender was super nice and seemed to really enjoy his job.
David and Monet finished their drinks before me and David kept pressuring me to drink faster. I eventually gave in because we wanted to bar hop on the way to Pikes Place Market, where we eventually made it to and had some BBQ.
I was confused about the workers bussing the table because were I live most places have you bus your own table.
Overall it was a little more expensive than I was looking for, but I enjoyed my time there even though David annoyed me.
Great food. Tasty beer.
This pub is marketed as having a "british pub feel". Whoever wrote that hasn't been to a British pub. The long and the short of it is that the service is fine, the food is fine, but it's a far fetch from a real British pub experience...and a lot of that had to do with the space and the decorating. Very sparse and the ambience is sort of weak.
I've been going to this place for years. Food have been consistently good. At certain time of the day when it's crazy busy, service may be slow but they never forget your order or missed anything. Amber and Anthony were great, oh, and Patrick at the bar too.
Been here several times for one on one dinners, group lunches, and quick snacks. Consistently good food, diverse happy hour, generally good service. Highly recommend for any of your dining needs for the area.
Good food, so so service. Friendly wait staff, but our waiter had a very hard time remembering quite a few details (waters, condiments requested, correct change). Maybe just an off night?
Ordered the fish and chips and the filet is GIANT. Only needed one. The drink I ordered was just the right amount of strong.
Excellent British pub food. The steak and mushroom pie, the Yorkshire pudding, and the cider in tap were all really really nice. Food is on the heavy side, though, so if you're in the mood for lighter fare, you might want to try elsewhere.
Fusion of sport bar and an Irish pub. The menu is not extensive but I am sure you will find some great food. I had the fish tacos and the clam chowder soup were very tasty
Great pub food, friendly staff, and strong drinks! I also really like the design of the facility - it's below the Motif Hotel and sits into the ground with a few different elevations. Definitely gives off the vibe of sitting in a London pub.
Enjoyed finally meeting my online friend and talking over salad. The salad was fresh, best ceasar salad I've had in a while.
Amazing flavor combinations. Great food and excellent service. Didn't wait to long for out food and everything was fully cooked. Definitely great for well balanced filling and nutritious food. I would highly recommend it to even the president.
Authentic British fare, real British bangers and mash, interesting take on sausage rolls, but the fish and chips were good
Its your standard run of the mill pub chain, wasnt heated too well inside and was shocked to see the steps werent shovelled days after the massive storm, was very dangerous entering. Service was so-so and so was the food. Good pints.
Great atmosphere. Loving the 80s style music and English dish menu. Our waiter was outstanding.
This is our go-to spot for lunch before a show at the 5th Avenue theater. The food is really good, with lots of variety, and the service is timely - especially if you let them know you have a show. Prices are also really reasonable.
Food is usually excellent and service is good. Gets a little noisy at the bar, but the low ceiling areas are surprisingly cozy and not too loud for folks to hear each other.
Chicken Tikka Masala Poutine?? Uh, yes please!!! It was a delicious twist, as was the Thai chicken salad. Service was pretty good as well, efficient although not especially friendly. Prices are a bit high for the portion size and the pub ambiance, but that's somewhat typical of downtown I suppose.
I go here once a year with friends because of PAX (Penny Arcade Expo). I travel from Oak Harbor to Seattle, a 2-2.5hr drive depending on traffic. It's a short walk from the Convention Center and every time I go here, the service is great, cheerful staff, the food and drinks are amazing. Friends and I yesterday afternoon had agree it's a great place to eat every time we go to PAX. The food comes in quick and hot. The Applewood Salmon Club that I had this time was amazing. Service is just great each time I come here. The moment we ordered our beer it's at our table a couple mins later despite each time coming to a convention day. Our waiter was prompt and easy to talk to and joke with.
Outside wasn't available for us to sit because of the hotel doing construction.
The only downside I will have to say about this year is that our beers were a little watered down. Especially my buddy who ordered the Guiness. My sister joked about that even she can't get drunk off of that because of how watered down his beer is.
Cool place, I ordered deluxe burger and house salad and it was delicious with good service
They say they Have Happy Hours from 3pm to 6pm but it's not Happy Hours. The rules of happy hours is half price on the drinks but they just make a discount of $1 on regular prices.
I order chiken it was really to spicy and the waiter didn't mantion it. So I s
Asked if I can have some bread to finish my dish. I was charged 3 dollars more for some bread... HMMM. I DON'T think it's comercial way... I brought 4 people with me... 😔
They have some nice happy hour specials on drinks and appetizers. The soft pretzel appetizer comes sliced and toasted with a generous portion of beer cheese - probably the best pretzel I've ever had!
Great atmosphere and crowd. Hands down the best fish and chips. The fresh chips and dips rock also.
Absolutely delicious, quick and super friendly staff. Decent beer selection, overall, an enjoyable experience on the fly.
Their shepherds pie was incredible! Date had the French dip and was not a fan of it.
Crowded place to have late night snack with beer.
The staff was super friendly and they did a great job with service. The food was what expected, standard Brit pub grub that hit the spot.
My friend and I stopped in for some wine and snacks. We got the Naan and Hummus Plate....It was so awesome tasting, I tried to recreate it and got some Pita Bread and Roasted Pepper Hummus from the store the next day, but it wasn't the same awesomeness I had at the restraunt!!!!
As a Brit i was appalled at the fact none of the teles had football on. And by football I mean the game played with a ball and your feet. The food was great and a wide assortment of beers and ciders kept me busy thinking I was home. Well worth a try.
Nice atmosphere and service is good but I cannot support the beer prices. $6.25 for a 20 oz Bud Light draft is approaching outlandish territory. I like the half off app happy hour but the beer prices are nearing cost prohibitive territory. There are cheaper beers to be had even in downtown Seattle.
Great English pub atmosphere, food, and drinks with a northwest flair. They serve UK inspired dishes and also three kinds of poutine. Awesome!
I enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. I only ate small plates, but they seemed pretty good. Some solid happy hour specials. I'd recommend.
Ate their at 10p, got the chicken sandwich and a beer. Be aware! Last call is 30 min prior to close! No late orders allowed.
I dont have anything bad to say about the food or the atmosphere, but the reason this place gets 5 stars is the server George. It was our first time here, so I don't know if all their staff is this good/charismatic, but we will definitely be coming back.
Went here before a show at the 5th ave theater, the food was incredible and the service was amazing. We loved the mussels and all apps were half off during happy hour. Great place and will be visiting again.
The onion soup was good. The quesadilla was not so good....rubbery and it came out after two other tables who ordered after me had their food. :-( The service was great. If you want a really good french onion soup, I would go somewhere else...try Cafe Presse.
Food was okay. Hard to find Keto options. Drinks were also okay. Very close to 5th ave. Theater so easy walk if u want to have dinner before a show.
Good food. Good British beer selection. A bit pricey for what you get, but it's downtown and good quality.
ALWAYS a great place to have a meal. Though it has been a few years since I was last in the changes to the decore well nice. The changes to the menu were barely noticable from the last time I was in, but were still part of the astetic. Still some of the best food I have had in Seattle.
Nice pub, good appetizers, great bartender. Billiards area is kinda lacking though.
Drafts are a little pricey but food was great and it was a. Ice atmosphere
Very good. Shepherd's pie was awesome!!
Great spot to swing through while downtown [e.g. wrapping a concert or convention; catching a (or multiple) games on TV]. Good food and atmosphere, with a bar to pull up to or booths and tables outside the fray. Indoor and outdoor seating, too.
Great atmosphere, good servers that were attentive to the table despite it being extremely busy for beer night. Show your theater ticket for extra 15% off (excluding happy hour)
Cool little restaurant with excellent food. I only did the 4 because the music was a little loud .other than that the staff was awesome and the food was great.
I enjoy watching sports here. Lots of tvs and you can usually find space somewhere to view the game. The menu is limited, nothing for dieters, but has items that taste good. They often had fun quiz nights in the past (2010 was the last time I went for a quiz.
All the food at our table was delicious. Also saw the Shepherd's pie flight looked amazing.
Great food and the service was awesome.
This place was okay. The fish tacos were pretty good but it was very pricey. The drinks were rather weak and very expensive. We were hoping for a good night out here but it fell short.
The staff is super friendly, the place is atmospheric and the food is amazing with good portion sizes and prices surprisingly low for how delicious the fair is this place is a staple of downtown. It's worth going out of your way for
Loved this place, found it while exploring and got some good grub and a nice pint.
A place to watch football, while that statement was present often about the establishment, we found little football and the staff was not entirely sure if any was on! The bangers were less than our favorite from The Toad In The Hole! Over all not bad stop for a pint but not my football pub GGMU
Good place to watch football (or soccer) games. However, kind of wished the portion sizes for the food were bigger for the price we were paying.
Got others hooked on the bread pudding. Host seemed overwhelmed by our group due to later-arriving reservations and we only had 1 menu for 8 people.
Best meal that I have had during my trip to Seattle, WA.
Great atmosphere and location. Food was what you'd expect from a pub, a little disappointing.
Service was good; the burger was OK. Kudos for being one of the few places open on a Wednesday at 10pm, though.
Service was great, the waitress was very friendly. the food was hot, quick, very tasty (grilled salmon and fish tacos). Will definitely be coming back!
Well located in downtown Seattle.... cosy n fun atmosphere... good food n good services... reasonable bill
Elephant and Castle is one of favorite Seattle eateries. The entire staff is professional and the food served is always phenomenal. The patio is a nice place to eat when the weather permits.
Tasty food, great service, not crowded! The best Chicken tenders for a quick comfort food snack.
We ate here 3 out of 4 nights. Seriously, this old ace is great. The tap, the menu, the waitress is all awesome.
Great British beer on tap. Excellent take on British pub food. Cozy atmosphere with some outdoor seating, even though is downtown.
"Good selection of beers, friendly staff, food's alright."
"Cool little, English pub style place, good service and draft beer selection."
I like this place and their British style food and drink. Last time I had the Yorkshire Pudding. Maybe it was me, but I was very sick afterwards and so was my son. Not going back.
Fantastic little pub hidden away in downtown. I love coming here to escape the convention center crowds. It can get packed but the wait is usually pretty quick. Excellent pot pies and burgers.
Lol hot but other than that a great place to hangout with buddies(:
Great food, great happy hour specials, cool vibe.
Good steak pie, decent beer selection, nice staff. A little pricey...
I absolutely loved this place, great place for me and my cthulhu worshipper friends, I understand the no octopus in the restaurant rule, we'll just leave it in the fish tank next time back at the sanctuary
Great place to escape to! Lots of room and not crowded! Good food and drinks with their own twist. Other places close by were crammed and this place was a hidden gem for our visit!
Dope vibes, good food.
Usually pretty decent service, food is definitely on the mediocre side, and the taps selections are fine as well. I've never been for the happy hours though
Cool location. Had the "Slum Dog” for a quick lunch. Decent, with familiar and comforting Indian flavors. Decent beer and cocktail list. Nice staff.
Best Shepard pie i ever had the chicken pot pie well my granddaughter says you can't touch this she loved her food to I highly recommend this place
Had planned to go to another bar nearby, but that bar was closed, so my group and I stumbled upon this cute little English-style pub. Great fries, awesome traditional English beer selection, and wonderful outdoor seating.
We come here every year when we are in town! Excellent food! Prices are a little high but the venue is wonderful to sit outside but still be off the street.
Not a bad pub for downtown. Huge portions!
Good food. Nice place.
One of those times when I just closed my eyes to enjoy a great meal... OMG ! you guys served me the best so far in Seattle 😊 Ambiance was perfect, good service, smiley staff, would definitely recommend this place for a good evening with friends ! …
Great bar, closed a little early on a week day
I wanted to post a pic of the poutine, but I eated it all before I could get my phone out. Seriously, any place you can get a pint of Guinness and plate of fries and gravy this good goes straight to the top of my list.
Very pleasant visit, nice staff, and excellent food. The music was a little loud, though. We'd be happy to stop by again.
Service was good, but I was kinda sad my $15 cheeseburger had a kraft slice on it, and not actual cheese.
Came here for after dinner drinks one night. Server was nice, drinks were as expected when ordering beer. Several in our group returned on other occasions!
Great lunch! Quick, courteous, and clean! Smaller menu than pre-Covid but excellent options!
Food was good but the wee pie flight isn't a full meal. Also the slumdog is missed.
Great food as always, portions reasonable, prices high. Great service.
Good food, good wait staff, nice atmosphere. Wish their vegetarian menu was clearer, especially for vegans ( accrssing the website menu was more helpful)
I had 40 minutes to grab lunch before heading out to the airport.. friendly staff, quick service, large selection of draft beers. What else could a guy ask for?
Fun British themed pub with good food and great service.
Chill, spacious spot with great food and drink options. Definitely coming back soon.
An ok place to stop in for a drink. Service was solid. Drinks were standard and same with the food. No real critiques just not particularly impressed
Friendly and great service. I do not recommend the fish and chips. It is not Cod but rather a much cheaper Tilapia at Cod prices.
