Reviews of El Gaucho
Laura Alexandra
I celebrated my anniversary at this restaurant, the food was delicious! This place has a great happy hour menu, and the drinks are very good! The music was lovely, and there was even someone playing the piano. The atmosphere was great, and they scattered rose petals on the table, making it even more romantic. At the end of our meal, our waitresses surprised us with a complementary dessert and some delicious fruit. The service was great and I really recommend this place for anniversaries!

This place is famous for their steaks. The atmosphere was great for a date night, a meal with the family or just grabbing drinks in the bar. Exceptional service was provided by each member of the staff from the valet attendant, and the hostess, to our server and every other member of the staff who made it a special point to congratulate my wife and me for choosing their restaurant for our special night. Everything we ordered was prepared to perfection. A perfect start to a great evening.

Quite the fancy place. Staff was great and plentiful. Piano Man played all night. Food was amazing and they're really proud of it. Pretty expensive for what you get as everything is an add on. We'd definitely go back.

It’s the biggest name for a steakhouse in Seattle. No doubt. Their waiters are awesome. I went yesterday and Oka served me and my friend. He’s been there for sixteen years. The food was great, but not mind blowing. I’m stuck because I’d love to give five stars for the service and experience, but the food just didn’t match and ultimately a restaurant should but judged on its food.

It was one of the best experiences I've ever had. The ambiance was romantic. The food was cooked to perfection. The staff was friendly and very interactive. 10/10 stars. We HIGHLY recommend this restaurant.

My best friend and I decided to go for New Year's Eve. He had been many years before. We had the best seat in the house. Our server was excellent, the restaurant is beautiful but the food wasn't as good as expected for the price. Our total at the end was $450 including extra on the tip for our server. The steaks were the best. Mac and cheese not worth the price and scallops tasted like charcoal. With that being said all staff were professional and polite except for a bartender. We decided to finish our evening off with a coffee at the bar. The bar was full so rather than accommodate us the bartender told us that we were in the way of his servers so we left and had our coffee in another establishment. I've tried them once and probably won't go again. That's why I only gave 3 stars.

Sara Monroe made our first couples trip back fantastic. Mediocre 20% auto service blah became the norm for your brand and kept me away for personal dinners for years. Sara was a great welcome back and a guarantee I will be back for more personal dinners and not just business. The food is still great quality and the vibe is still cool even in the new space.

We started with delicious cocktails, a Pork Belly Smoked Old Fashioned (the campfire nose works exceptionally well with the slightly extra sweetened OF), and The Last Word (if you're familiar with maraschino liqueur, this cocktail will taste exactly how you'd expect--yum!). The "Insane Truffle Soup" was creamy and unctuous, and the kimchi mignonette added a lovely kick to the fresh oysters. Our chateaubriand was beautifully crusted and tender inside (rare side of medium rare), and the cliff sauce was super decadent. Finished with a not necessarily noteworthy key lime pie (aside from looking quite sharp), but still exactly what I wanted. The WhistlePig Double Malt 18 Year Rye was a perfect final note.
Service was excellent, with just the right amount of attentiveness. Will definitely return, hopefully sooner than later!

Fancy restaurant, romantic and cozy vibe, food presentation and flavor are great, service is spectacular.
I give it 4 stars because
1-A bit too pricey, charging 20% service cost that goes to the restaurant only, I found that too much plus 15%+ tip , so basically spending 100 bucks “not on food” i found it ridiculous, I go fine dining and chef restaurant in great fancy places now and then, never spent that much (forcibly) on service. They made it seem mandatory.
2- You can’t hear the piano music unless you sit in the front tables. All i was hearing kitchen’s noise as it was behind my table, I think they need to do something for the isolation.

Beautiful newer steak house location that seems to be a Seattle favorite from what the staff told us. They opened February 2020 with this new location.
They have a loyalty program where you can earn rewards for dining in. So if you're local that's great.
Cheese garlic bread brought to the table to start. This was a 3 star for me, so if you aren't as into carbs, I'd say skip this and leave room for other things.
It was quite a dark restaurant. Server had a flashlight to help us see.
Steak tartare 4 stars
Good decent version.
We chose the tomahawk special mostly because it seemed like something fun to go and choose your own steak. You get to meet the chef and he speaks with you about their process which is a nice touch. It was cooked very nicely.
I was disappointed in the crispy brussel sprouts. We didn't touch most of them.
The asparagus and the French fries were very good.
Service was very hospitable.

Our favorite steakhouse. Amazing caesar salad also. The service is also great. They have a huge wine selection and craft specialty cocktails. I always look forward to our date night's here.

We went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. A wonderful atmosphere, perfect for a romantic dinner. The staff are all super friendly and helpful, with excellent knowledge on wine pairings. The food was probably some of the best food I have ever eaten. The steaks were cooked to perfection and were perfectly paired with an excellent local wine. Every little detail helped to enhance the experience, including rose petals on the table and a card wishing us a happy anniversary from the El Gaucho team. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend this restaurant as a wonderful place to get away from the kids for a 5* romantic meal.
Joseph Grill
This ambiance in this restaurant was very nice. Live piano music, exposed brick, wood ceilings, romantic lighting. The service was excellent. It was our anniversary and the rose petals on the table and a signed card from the staff were both a nice touch. Extensive wine selection. The food was excellent but the portions were very small for the price. Our meals were both perfectly prepared.... and for what they charge, they certainly had better be or I'm sending them back! Cocktails, bottle of wine, starter, two entrees and one side: $400.

Had Chateaubriand. It reminds me of steak in Kansas city which is my best in my life time. The service was even better than food. Thanks to Mike.
Thomas Bradley
This is one of the best places to go in Seattle for steak and seafood. Very classy, exceptional staff, and top notch food. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the music of the piano man. You have to take friends, family, or your business associates here, you'll really like this place

Went to El Gaucho with my husband for our anniversary and it could not have been better. Among other items, we got the Chateaubriand which was delicious. Our server was very knowledgeable and I regret not getting her name so I could give her a shout-out. Every employee we interacted with was A+ and made us feel special. Definitely on the spendy side, so be prepared, but 100% worth it for our special occasion.

I wanted to squeeze in a steak dinner before my Seattle vacation ended and decided to give El gaucho a try. Ordered their flaming sword brochette of tenderloin with Yukon gold mashed potatoes and they were pretty delish. It was also entertaining to watch a server cook my tenderloin in flaming fire right in front of my table - pretty neat experience!
During my dining, my server did not ask me for my name nor did she provided me with hers, which I thought was both surprising and underwhelming especially with my dinner check being in 3-digits (before taxes) and it is not something that happens often when dining at a nice steakhouse such as el gaucho. She and her colleagues were quite attentive throughout my dining which I appreciated. Their blood orange old fashioned was pretty tasty except the bartender did not the "extra loving portion" of bourbon you would expect from a steakhouse. I thought I would have a better experience than Capital grille and will most likely go there next time I am in Seattle.

We are HUGE fans of ElGaucho, especially the Seattle location. Last night was our first time in the new location & whoa, the new building is beautiful and romantic! The service is always on point, but Rebecca was beyond that last night. She was personable, knowledgeable and helpful. Our meal, tasters mainly was done perfectly and with a thoughtfulness above and beyond anything we've ever had! The oysters with the kimichi sauce were excellent! The onion soup was truly the best I've ever had! Chef truly has a gift!
Muhand Al Toblany
Nice restaurant and nice vide .. the place is classy but noisy .. we went there for our anniversary and wanted to enjoy listening to the sound of piano when the pianist was playing but the place was too loud .. i think they need to get an acoustic treatment done to the walls and ceiling (may be add a glass partition to separate the kitchen slightly as it was very noisy). Food tasted good but it was overly pricy compared to some other fine dinning spots in Seattle.
bristian hull
I gave it two big thumbs up! It is a culinary gem, a treasure trove filled with juicy steaks, scrumptious salads, and more. I highly recommend it for meat lovers, families, and connoisseurs alike.
Yashar S
Loved the Blood Orange Old Fashioned! Wicked Shrimp and Wedge Salad were delicious!
Kyle Thomas
Great atmosphere. Solid menu options. Steak cooked to perfect temp but crust was on the charred side. Table side prepared dishes. Not enough wait staff which slowed service.
Carlton Bonney
Excellent service. Great smoked cocktails and happy hour options. Live piano all night. Steak was a bit too charred for my liking at a medium, so I’ll probably ask for rare next time.

I had not been here since it moved to its new location behind the original. The old world character from the original is gone; replaced with a more modern, upscale, steakhouse character. Unfortunately, my very expensive steak was extremely salty. Apparently, the bar tender did not think that someone only eating half was any indication of an issue. Dinner for two and a couple of drinks each exceeded $350.
Rachel Veniez
Had such a great evening - we were celebrating an engagement and it was super special location to celebrate that. I’d come again for sure if it were a special occasion. I ordered the chicken and it was dry - hence the 4 stars. But great experience nonetheless
Dayi García
This is one of the most beautiful and cozy restaurants i have ever been. The attentions are amazing, the food and drinks are simply perfect. There is a piano player with ambience music. I simply adored this place.
Claudia M Gerald
The restaurant and the hostess were nice and friendly. Unfortunately, I am unsure what to say about the waiter and the service. Our waiter seemed nice but at the same time he was rude constantly reaching over my face to get glasses or dishes. For dinner it was four of us. After a we finish with the appetizer I was left out with any utensils, I had to borough a fork and knife from people at my table, finally he returned with the steak knife and apologize. When it came time for dessert he only provided us with three menus only, I had to ask him if he could give me one more, Ok no big deal, he apologise again. For dessert, we sat there for a while, waiting for the spoon, and finally, I had to asked him if he could provided us with spoons he proceeded to give us two dessert spoons and two soup spoons for the dessert,AGAIN another apology. I ordered an 8oz fillet that came out on a plain white plate with nothing else so there was no presentation at all. It should have been in the center of the plate. The busboy would came around to fill the glasses with water and splash some of the water outside of the glass and not friendly, just with an attitude. When it came time to pay the bill it was over 500 hundred dollars which it was fine and expected but our waiter told us that he already included the 20 percent tip on the bill. For the type of service we received it should have been more like 15 percent tip. We sat for a little while longer on the table after we paid the bill and our waiter returned and took away our water glasses without saying anything and left everything else at the table which was odd and comical and AGAIN reaching over my face. For a restaurant that is categorized as $$$$ needs to improve their service and food presentation also train their waiters for the proper etiquette in serving

Great atmosphere and service. The best steak I've eaten in the US, and fantastic broad wine selection. Had an issue with some food on a jacket and Larry was a legend to sort it out. Thank you

The new El Gaucho far exceeds to old El Gaucho. The food was outstanding (kudos to the head chef) and the service was even better. If you have a chance, order the Wicked Shrimp. This was one of the best dishes I've ever had in any restaurant I've ever been to.
Charles Davis
Great atmosphere with dim lights and live piano. The presentation was good with a suited server. The food was delicious. The drinks were really good. Go here to impress on date night.
John Carrico
Great ambiance, love the live piano music. Sirloin was tough, so spend the extra money for a nicer cut. Overall, it was a good experience, but the price tag makes it a very occasional visit
Joe Dion
Hadn't been in 10 years, liked the old building better, but still top notch.
Onur Olmez
Decided to try this place on a whim during a business trip. My, was I impressed. The A5 Wagyu was excellent and so was the general ambiance. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good steakhouse.

Tonight was absolutely remarkable - Todd was our server and it was spectacular. From the moment we arrived we were attended to. The service was exceptionally well done.
The new location is an absolute dream. I was recommended the New York/ Bone In. I normally am
a ribeye sort of guy. But wow! Todd really did a solid deal recommending this. We enjoyed the crab cakes, scallops, and nothing beats live piano, good friends and good eats!
My wife owns the boutique next door Rabecca Onassis Boutique and we shall frequent this new establishment often! Much love

Luca was an amazing server. Very attentive and extremely nice. For coming out of town for the day, left extremely impress. Would come back just for Luca and of course the food ☺️
Bradley Smull
Drinks combined with a quick appetizer in the bar exceeded my expectations!! An artful jazz pianist in the background topped-off an excellent experience.

"I was so looking forward to taking my fiancé to El Gaucho for the first time for his birthday and the reception we received when we were there was terrific! But, unfortunately, the food was a disappointment. The steak was so charred that we couldn’t taste the flavor of the meat. The brussel sprouts were so greasy that we had to send them back or I know I would’ve gotten a stomach ache. Our server was great, but his breath wasn’t. Our bottle service should have been done more fluidly and expertly..."
Claes Mogren
Went there for my birthday, great experience in every way. The portions are huge, it's easy to order too much since it's all delicious.
J C
Please be appropriate and dress for dinner. There is no t-shirt that would be appropriate. Do it for the rest of us who think going out is a time to look nice, if not for the person you're with.
Mark Paradis
I was visiting in town for a conference and was told to go here for the best steak in town. Wow was I not disappointed, easily one of the best steaks I have ever had! Traveling by myself I sat at the bar and the service was great as the bartender made me feel like home. Great selection of beers while relaxing to a wonderful pianist playing modern songs making the atmosphere classy and upbeat. The steak was cooked to perfection and the sides were delectable. The key lime pie for desert was out of this world good and luckily the super friendly couple next to me had the fried bananas and even shared a bite with me, delicious...thanks Seattle hospitality!! I would highly recommend if you are in Seattle and want a classy fantastic meal.

Great place to enjoy a lovely dinner. Service was superb
John Enyart
This location is one of my all-time favorite places to dine. The service has been exceptional every time. Food is also delicious.
Asi'a Darring
The staff was kind and pleasant. The table side food preparation was entertaining. My truffle soup was absolutely to die for!! The steak tartar was yummy.
Robert Brown
Came here for my birthday and was amazed by the food and the ambiance. Overall the place has a quiet but lively hum about it, with live music playing and a friendly staff. The drinks were delicious, with the table side show good for a first time experience (not sure I need it every time). My waiter was extremely helpful in suggesting what to get based on my interests (beyond steak...)
If you want to shell out a pretty penny (around $200-400 for a couple) this is a fantastic place for dinner, drinks, and desert.

One of the most entertaining restaurants I've ever been to! Amazing service from when we entered to when we left. Delicious food, beautiful ambiance, courteous and attentive service makes this my favorite restaurant in Seattle. To start I love that they still offer coat checks. Something I don't see much of anymore. The hostess took us to our table on an upper floor with full view of the restaurant including live dinner music from a very talented piano player. We ordered a tableside Cesar Salad which is always a favorite of ours but when I got a tableside hickory Manhattan I knew this was going to be my place!!! Not to spoil your experience but they light hickory chips and put it out with your glass to flavor it then the shape a block of ice into a crystal clear ice sphere.
As far as food we shared the Steak Trio. 3 very flavourful cuts of meats with the perfect accompaniment of side dishes. For dessert back to tableside with the Bananas Foster which was quite possibly the best Bananas Foster I've ever had!!! I could rave on and on about my dining experience there but in closing this is an amazing restaurant and one you should definitely add to your list of places to dine in Seattle
Bintu Adeigbe
DELICIOUS! The experience alone was worth it. We came here as a family from Texas and wanted 5 star treatment for my boyfriends birthday and the staff, food and service met our expectations! There was live music (piano classics) playing and just added to the vibes. Highly recommend the bread pudding for dessert, mashed potato’s and Macaroni for sides. We all had steak and shared sides.
Mandi Forbeck
We had truly an amazing, over the top service experience last night. We celebrated our 5-year anniversary and they went above and beyond. From greeting us at the door, to a petal covered table with a personalized card, to exceptional service. We picked out our steak which was such a unique experience and enjoyed tableside Caesar salad and bananas foster. The food was delicious and everything was perfect.
Vic Henley
From the valet, to the service and waiter, and not to mention the food. The whole experience was perfect. Me and the wife definitely will return
Daisy Henny
Excellent customer service and experience! We had the Chateaubriand, Lobster Mashed Potatoes, and mushrooms, and they were all excellent! Not to mention the Table side Caesar Salad and the bread pudding which were excellent as well. I will definitely be returning! ❤️❤️❤️
Francis Ge
Came here for our anniversary. Really liked the ambiance and service. The table side show with some of the dishes were pretty cool. Food quality-wise, the steaks were all right but for the price I'm paying, I honestly expected more. Japanese Wagyu for the same price would blow it out of the water.
Kendall Hawkins
Great food and excellent service! The end to end experience was unmatched. We had the tableside ceasar salad, the Chateaubriand, and bread pudding for dessert. We were celebrating a birthday, and several staff visited our table with birthday wishes. We will definitely return!
Jeffrey Tillson
I overall enjoyed my first experience at El Gaucho. The atmosphere is wonderful, with a very nice accent from the live piano. Appetizers, and sides are creative and a pleasant diversion from the typical mix. I really enjoyed the prosciutto and pear salad, and the scalloped potatoes.
Service was of exceptional quality with just the right amount of attention given to our party featuring a head waiter who served as a true host a supporting cast who discreetly kept our glasses full
What didn't delight, however, was the steak. I found my ribeye charred to the point where the flavors of the aging were just lost. Too bad, but it's not a reason not to try again. A customer in the know can certainly ask for a lighter touch on the grill.
Brett Berry
I'd highly recommend El Gaucho for a special evening.
Their chateaubriand for two was the perfect selection for a couple of wild and crazy carnivores out on the town.
It is an upscale establishment, and my wolf hat did feel quite out of place... yet it was cold and I reveled in the startled glances from every patron we passed by.
Somehow they were under the impression that we were celebrating an anniversary, and I was about to protest, until I noticed the red rose petals adorning our table under the heartfelt greeting card.
The chocolate martini was another pleasant surprise, as I usually go for the lighter and fruitier drinks.
Surprise number three came after the meal was finished and plates were cleared. Our fancy waiter whisked a platter of fruits, cheeses and nuts to our table.
May I crack you another filbert, my dear?

High end restraunt in Seattle downtown. This is probably the most expensive I have ever been. The wicked shrimp that I had was nothing short of amazing. I also had a grilled salmon which without any rice, veggies. I hear from my team that Salad and the Steak Rib is also good.
Mike
EVERYTHING was outstanding! Tuna steak, Mac n Cheese, scallops, baked potato, cheesecake, prawn cocktail, and ALLOT more that I've forgotten, were all just awesome! The place is top notch!
Spent $380 plus a 20% automatic gratuity and another $80 cash because the bartender was SO cool!
Jannette Bailey
Loved the food, service, ambiance, pace of our dining experience and amazing flavors of each dish. No wonder El Gaucho is a Seattle favorite!!
Julie Yoon
We celebrated a 50th birthday in the private room - great show by our hosts - food prepped right at the table. Great service, good food, cozy atmosphere. Had very limited vegan options which were ok but not the main reason for going here.
K Aerie
Awesome food & great service! Came here for the Seattle restaurant week & got a great deal. Everything was near perfect... Definitely try to hit it during the SRW! The table side gimmicks are pretty cool also! :)
River Eibey
I was here last night (September 6th) for my birthday. They had a speial table with a birthday card with rose pettles on the table for me. Everyone said happy birthday to me I felt like a princess! It is such a gorgeous restaurant with five star service. They have a wine specialist if you are feeling indecisive or if you don't know what will go best with your food.
If coming here be prepared to spend 200 to $300(tip included) on two people. The steak dinners range from 60 to $120. And bottles of wine are $50+
We got the trio steak dinner crab cakes and a side of Brussel sprouts with a bottle of wine and shared it and we were completely full.(for $240 tip included) I would strongly suggest sharing the steak Trio with an appetizer and a side. At the end they have complimentary cheese, crackers and fruit. :)
Just a heads up everything was a little on the salty side but I Love salt.
I will be back!
Marc Bannos
Wasn't too pleased with the Seattle location compared to my experiences in Bellevue and Tacoma (5 stars there). Very glad I called them earlier this afternoon to confirm a reservation made weeks ago as apparently it wasn't reflected in their system.
No problems with the food (excellent), but the environment lacks the charm of the other locations in my opinion. Slightly annoyed that my server didnt apply or ask about applying my reveler's balance to the bill either, but c'est la vie.
Laura O'Connor
Wait staff was friendly and personable. Elevated ambiance but didn't lose the NW unpretentious vibe. Steak and seafood lived up to other reviews. Good choice for special event like birthday or anniversary.
Kyle Roberts
Dined on 6/22/22, new location
I cannot say enough good things about this experience, especially with Luka (please excuse spelling). From start to finish, for a 7pm-10pm extended dinner, the staff and quality was superb. Luka was there every step of the way, sending the sommelier over (Jeff, I believe - forgive me if that's incorrect) for assistance narrowing down to a bottle of Darioush, while Luka himself prepared a tableside Caesar which, if I might suggest, is well worth the experience.
The steak was fantastic - my date went for a med-rare Steak El Gaucho, a signature, while I opted for a black-and-blue 12oz filet. I've been a little hesitant on steak here in Seattle after visiting Nick & Sam's in Dallas more times than I can count, but El Gaucho does a phenomenal job and is worth every penny. Don't hesitate on rare or charred/rare temps.
This won't run cheap - I got out for around $850 on an aggressive splurge, and threw an additional tip that I won't disclose on top of the auto-20% service charge. This included app, salads, steaks, pre-dinner cocktails, wine, post-dinner cocktails, and espresso. That said, if you're looking for an attentive experience, incredible food, and lovely ambiance, you can't go wrong with El Gaucho. I think you could get out for $500-600 by being less aggressive with wine, so food for thought. Will absolutely be back. Thank you all for everything - hosts, wait staff, bartenders, and back-of-house.
Keosha Parris
The ambiance was so nice I love the decor and the service. The food is a bit pricey but it’s to be expected. The food was so good and so worth it. From the outside it looks small and quaint but on the inside it’s insanely beautiful and grand the decor is so nice.
Justin Cayanan
I love this restaurant. Great attentive staff and wonderfully flavored food equal a pretty fantastic experience in my book. The truffle mushroom soup was insanely good. I wanted to get an order of it to go, but the amazing drinks (Angel's envy rye, neat) I had ensured that I forgot :) My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and there were rose pedals on the table and a hand written card wishing us a happy anniversary. Hopefully we will go back sooner than over a decade and half! 5 noms... nom nom nom nom nom.
Dena Merdovic
amazing food and service! Luca (our server) was attentive and kind, Martin on the piano was endless entertainment. Thank you for an unforgettable evening!
Warren Rice
Always loved this place, but our last experience was sub-par. Halibut was dry, wait staff dropped by infrequently, leaving us wanting. Even those who had steak thought it was just okay. We were in a private room, and expected more.
Tony Fondacaro
Easily among the best steakhouses I’ve been to and some of the best service you will ever find. Their menu is outstanding to begin with (just get the truffle soup), but they are perfectly capable of catering to your special requests. For example; they have a peppercorn steak on the menu but it is not a traditional steak au poivre. I asked if any of the cooks knew how to make it, and sure enough they did. They brought out a perfectly cooked New York Strip and an absolute bombshell au poivre sauce. The cocktails… get the Gaucho Old Fashioned. And then, get the Gaucho Anniversary red wine with your dinner. Any of their sides compliment your steak perfectly, and they are shareable. The desserts (if you can make it this far) are total indulgences.
It is not cheap, and maybe the presentations could be better, but it’s a steakhouse and in this case you absolutely get what you pay for, which is one of the best dining experiences you will probably ever have.
Jeffrey Heinz
Incredible experience. Service was fantastic and the Chateaubriand was top notch!
Steve S Johnson
Superb fine restaurant all around 👌. The grilled halibut is one of the absolute best I've ever had, and the steaks are incredible!
Bryant Isaacs
We celebrated our 30th anniversary with dinner here. What a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic, the floral petals on our table and signed anniversary card was a nice touch. Our waitress, Sarah, was exceptional.
Alex Wolf
Fun and fancy. Expensive of course, but you get what you paid for. The employees were all nice, and everything we ordered was fantastic.
David A. Jones
As you step through the doors prepare to take a trip back in time. This elegant 1920’s eatery has a beautiful spacious design. Had the pleasure of celebrating my 35th birthday with my girlfriend here. Mock our server was knowledgeable, caring, and a great energy, making for a truly magical evening. We were treated like royalty and feasted like a king and queen. Our taste buds came alive and danced the Tango to the exciting flavors of Argentina. This is a must to experience in Seattle. Vegans stay away this is for people that enjoy the top of the food chain!
Thomas Kemp
One the best steaks I've had in my life. Very pricey I'm told for Seattle. Between 60-140 dollars for steak. Service was impeccable albeit a bit overly so for a Brit but I'm sure it goes down well for Americans. Served very quick which helped as we were very hungry. Highly recommended for any steak lovers.
Rob Morga
We were in the chef's table/room. Steaks were ok, nothing special. Service was great.
Jade Axness
We had a wonderful dining experience. Our wait staff made sure our drinks never ran low, the food was phenomenal and the staff was very helpful in choosing our food. We were highly satisfied with our dining experience and food!
I noticed other people put more details about their experience so I thought I would share too. I ordered their moscato wine, and my husband ordered one of their cocktails. His cocktail was strong but good and my wine was very good as well. We also ordered the tomahawk steak which provided us a dining experience that was Incredible. We met the head chef and chose our steak from their dry aged meat locker. We knew going into this that our dinner was going to be pricy because of our dinner choice. The steak was cooked very well and was seasoned great, it came with asparagus and cheese covered cooked tomatoes. We didn’t eat the asparagus but the tomatoes were cooked well. We additionally ordered mashed potatoes which we thought were wonderful and the Mac and cheese. We also thought the Mac and cheese was great.
The dining experience was more expensive than similar dining experiences we have had in the past but we expected this with our dinner choice. The staff were incredible and took great care of us our entire meal. The service really was top notch which we think made the price point where it was.
Michał Polowczyk
Place is very nice, service is great but you definitely shoudl visit Poland to see how to prepare great Tartare. This one here was uneatable for me.
Joe Reed
This steakhouse is 5 star and worth every penny. The food is matched with perfect drinks and phenomenal service. Luca served us on this night, and I haven't ever had better service. He was fun and informative, giving us tips on the menu and making sure we had the best possible experience. The food is amazing through-and-through, from the appetizers to the desserts. The ambiance was also fantastic with a live piano player and great buzz around the restaurant.
Thank you El Gaucho for giving us an A1 experience.
Anthony Ferrucci
Excellent and attentive service, everyone we encountered was friendly and hospitable. I especially appreciate the ambience and intimate feel of the restaurant, background live piano music was lovely.
I had a few small issues with the food (asparagus was slightly under-cooked and under-seasoned and my steak was a little off). Bread pudding dessert was delicious though. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely return and recommend to others.
J. Smith
Excellent customer service and experience! We had the Chateaubriand, Lobster Mashed Potatoes, and mushrooms, and they were all excellent! Not to mention the Table side Caesar Salad and the bread pudding which were excellent as well. I will definitely be returning!

El Gaucho was picked by the Graduate as a place she wanted to go for her special dinner. The staff were superb; the ambience was perfect; the interactions and showmanship of the staff were amazing and the Graduate glowed throughout the night! Superb production and we all look very much forward to coming back soon.
Holger Reisinger
Ordered NY medium rare but got it medium well. Steak was cold, too. However, staff was very friendly and professional. Can happen!
Nathan Heishman
Maik was amazing! This was our first time here and it was very memorable. We were celebrating our first anniversary of marriage and Maik made it fantastic. He explained everything to us. Made a toast to our marriage. He prepared some delicious food in front of us. Our main course was delicious and flavorful. The desert was on the house which was pretty cool of them. Our bill was expensive, but worth every dollar in my eyes. We will be back!
Laura Johnson
Loved El Gaucho!! We had the best ceasar salad (made table side) ever there!! Steaks were good and so were all of the sides! We tried escargot since its on the appetizer menu (very few places carry the delicacy) I think they usually have vallet, but be sure to ask. Its totally affordable at 12 dollars. Its a pricey place, but definitely worth it! We went for my MIL's birthday and we had such a great time. Cherished memories for sure!!
Jon C
Excellent steak (specialty) and tableside prepared Caesar salad. Terrific service.
Kate Kiatsiri
Never disappointed!!!! Grilled prawns always made my mouth watery. Cooked perfectly. Services are awesome
Margaret M
Our first time here and we had a blast. On arrival, our party of 8 was seated in a private room pretty quickly. The service was unmatched. Our host Maiko made our evening absolutely amazing. He gave us first class service. He was very attentive and funny. The staff truly cares about your experience here. From the starters to the desserts the food is very delicious!! Absolutely the best meals we have ever had anywhere. Everyone enjoyed their choices. Highly recommend! It will be hard to ever dine anywhere else.
Lucas Duffey
The steaks are great and so is the bread pudding. Excellent service. The best tables are on the top level.
Bob Karp
Wow, just wow. What an all around experience. I'm usually one that dislikes fancy for fancy sake. Expensive ingredients don't equate to my yummy... But... This place was tasty through all dishes. I was caught off guard that we were there 2.5 hrs just talking and enjoying the live piano. The flamming sword was filling and worth it.
Sean Hull
Super up scale atmosphere. Staff was friendly, food was incredible. It's on the pricey side so come prepared to open the wallet. Aside from needing pen lights to read the menu (which they provide) it was worth every penny.
Ashley Dekarz
What an amazing experience. The attention to detail was phenomenal. Food was delicious as well as drinks and wine selection. Sara took great care of us for our anniversary dinner and had an amazing knowledge of the food and wine selection. Thank you for a great experience and we will be back!
Kristina Sandoval
Amazing steak house. Definitely need to try it. Very classy place.
Debra Phillips
I like it very much because it's elegant good and delicious and if you have great company it's the perfect place to go it's perfect opportunity to throw on something nice and get dressed up a dad can take his daughter to a nice dinner or a mother and daughter or son can go and just have a good dinner out so I highly recommend it 5 stars . I had the jumbo shrimp with stuffed Dungeness crab paired with a Riesling wine
Achita Nittayasit
Great ribeye steak, not sure if the price tag is worth it though. If you want to splurge you should give it a shot.
Neal O'Neal
It is a smaller space than the old place. We sat at a large round table which caused our party of 6 to talk louder so everyone could hear. This annoyed the two person table just to the other side of us. Nothing to be done about it. It’s just the large tables in that space cause people to talk louder. Be aware of that when you are seated. The food was awesome, the fire prawns and oysters were spectacular and the steaks were really good. I only like to go out to places that can cook a steak better than I can and El Gaucho delivers! Complimentary valet parking!?! What a deal!
Marc Armstead
Went here just walking by, sat at the bar during happy hour and had a great time. Great service, waiter gave a great tip on wine. Food was outstanding. I was happy.
Carl D.
Complimentary valet parking. We tipped valet $15. Recommended $5-$20.
Food and service were very good.
Table-side Cesar salad excellent.
Cocktails were perfection.
Wish they could wall off the reception desk from sit-down restaurant
All the staff were professional, warm and inviting.
After 20% tip we dropped almost $250.00 per person. Included cocktails, bottle of wine, dinner, dessert.
Tara Trigstad
It was our first time at the Western Ave location. Everything was amazing: food, ambience, and service. Plan to depend at least 2 hours dining. My husband's El Gaucho filet was bomb. I had the halibut, and it was the best I've had.
Bridget Van Well
I was looking forward to this dinner for months and can easily say I was disappointed. Not sure if we just came on an off night but for the price we paid I expected properly cooked steaks. Ordered ribeye medium and it was well, New York cut was charred so bad it was all I could taste. I will say the scallops were the best I ever had and ambience was great but it couldn't carry the whole meal :(
Lance Finley
First time visit, decided to try El Gaucho for Seattle Restaurant Week. Will definitely be back! Service was impeccable from every aspect (valet, check in, at the table, and upon leaving). Jimi was our waiter and he was excellent, taking the time to give us some history of the restaurant. I had the filet, and it was the best filet I have ever had! Thank you for a great experience!
Dylon J
Dimly lit, tuxedo staff, live pianists, excellent sides, amazing chease plate, phenomenal steaks, exuberant lobster mashed potatoes! Dessertt is fie. Plan on spending 150$ a person, great place to take a date dress to impress and order Oscar style steaks come with bernaise sauce and crab on top! Come back atleast twice a month to sit and eat and order out even more.
Theresa Greco
Sea Bass was prepared in the best fashion we ever experienced!! Just like butter 😋 Service was exceptional and wine list was great. Only recognition, something chocolate on the dessert menu other than cheesecake. Maybe, molten chocolate cake?Other than that, perfection! By the way, we love the new building. …
Rozneik
TOP NOTCH!! Our waiter Kyle took awesome care of my fiance and I for my birthday! He properly wore his mask like all the other staff. Yes, that was important to us. He offered great conversation and suggestions but wasn't overly talkative. Great balance and was very personable. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING!! I mean so good that you take small bites so that the blissfulness doesn't end haha. Of course it's expensive but totally worth every dollar because its more than just sitting down for a meal...it's an experience that ensures lasting memories. 5 out 5 stars from start to finish. Period. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Marc Kurose
I was apprehensive coming here with two toddlers, but the staff acoomodated us with high chairs, mac and cheese for the kids, and they sat us in a great area where we wouldn't disrupt too many people if the worst was to happen. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was delicious. We got the steak for two, and I think it was as good as any I've had anywhere. The restaurant itself is beautiful and we found street parking easily.
Alexandra Brena
Excellence all around. Tables are nice and spaced out for covid, staff wore masks and gloves, it was obvious they took safety seriously. The staff were all friendly, personable, and engaged - you could tell they wanted you to enjoy yourself and they went above and beyond to make that happen for us. The food was insanely good; I asked the waiter for some recommendations and he asked about what we like to make recommendations that were tailored for us which I really appreciated. I was extremely impressed and will definitely be back again. Highly recommend!
Dylan Davis
The atmosphere, the food, the service and everything in between was phenomenal. Obviously, with such treatment, this place is a bit pricey, but for a high class date with your special someone, the prices are not nearly as high as others.
Also, in case you had the same questions I had, no, there is no dress code, I went in jeans and a T-shirt (though I did feel silly). And there is valet parking, but there's also a parking lot right next door for $20.
Betsy M.
Delicious scallops and shrimp. The service is unmatched. Highly recommended!
Jason Roemaat
Came here for our fancy Honeymoom dinner, to really treat ourselves. The food and drinks were delicious, the staff went above and beyond to make this a very special night.
Dawnzella Gearhart
This place does it all right! I love the food, especially the fillet mignon!
The service is superb, I do love being pampered. (Though I miss the escort to the restrooms, that was a nice touch) We surprised our dear friend and celebrated her 70th Birthday! The "bubbles" on the house were a wonderful touch! I can't wait to come back.
The Squishy
Best Birthday dinner ever! I thought this place was going to be over hyped because I've heard so much about it. Best food and service I've ever had!
Jeffrey Jackson
Wonderful service and food. We love the tenderloin diablo appetizer ao much we bought the seasoning!
vince jackson
Amazing service amazing food. When there with a group of 10 that didn't really fit in bit they didn't care put us into our own room . we enjoyed ourselfs so well
Matt S.
The service is world class. It seems laid back but this staff is impressive from start to finish. From the valet (no I didn't valet my sweet late model sedan) just chatted with for a min. Front was fantastic. The entire staff was just very impressive. Excellent dining experience.
melissa c
Best steakhouse ever! High end meals w/relaxed yet refined dining. GREAT service, the Best meal I've had in years! The steak, lobster, Mac n cheese, everything was excellent! They make the ceaser salad table side- delicious, also make bananas foster table side & they know what they're doing. Highly recommend this restaurant!
BAЯRON
Really nice restaurant with a beautiful ambiente and live music.
We had a truffle soup which was excellent. Then we tried the escargots; they were terrific. As a main dish we selected salmon which was really amazing. The place is really great if you are willing to spend a little more than usually.
Garrett Steffen
Helpful tip: if you are interested in the live music here, ask to be seated where you can hear it when you make your reservation. 👍
I didn't think to ask this when I made my reservation and unfortunately ended up in a room where I couldn't hear it. Kind of messed up the anniversary, but not as much as the screaming toddler that was at another table in the room.
Helpful tip: don't bring a baby to a steakhouse 👍
Unfortunate events and poor planning aside, the food was amazing. Our waiter was very nice and even tried to find us another table.
Overall, I'd very much encourage trying this out, just don't bring a young child.
Shella Morrison
It was our first time at El Gaucho and we had a great experience. Steaks were cooked just right and delicious, and the gnocchi as a side was INCREDIBLE. The bread pudding was to die for! But what also made this experience so wonderful was our waiter, Maik. He was super attentive, and didn’t rush us one bit. He provided some of the best service we have received at any restaurant! He gave us great recommendations, including a delicious rose champagne with dessert!
Nathan Dickey
Company had our holiday party here; was impressed by the filet mignon.
Rochelle Cham
Wonderful ambience, great service. Food was spectacular.
Andrea Dobbs
Maybe we hit a weird night. But it was our first time and we won’t be back. The food was good— but our steak was supposed to be medium rare. It was medium well to well done. For 68$ it should be cooked perfectly. Crab cakes really good. Caesar salad tasted pretty standard. Lobster Mac and cheese was good. Nothing blew me out of the water other than the prices! We didn’t really feel good with our waitress— she seemed stressed and overwhelmed— maybe there’s a understaffing issue. I’ve eaten at A LOT of really good fine dining restaurants (including ones when I lived in Paris) in my life. This was “meh” compared to many others. We won’t be coming back.
Ben Yuh
I was able to get a last minute reservation here and the service is first really good. They really take care of you here. The food was excellent and I really enjoyed my time here. If I'm back in the area, I would visit again.
Poul Pedersen
Well its been a few years ... but it has only gotten better, food & service is exceptional, the Chateaubriand is one of the best I have ever had period!! Plus they have a fine selection of Armagnac.. a great place with friends or an after business dinner...this place you will not get disappointed
Ylan Muller
The service, food, and drink were excellent. Docked a star because the sea bass was a tad dry with the preparation they used, and the asparagus that came with the steak was somewhat bland. Great drinks and steak, though!
Lorraine Purcell
Waiter was great. But food took for ever, not cooked how we asked. Chard outside Bradley with raw inside. Slow
Tamsyn Cunningham
Lovely anniversary dinner. Next time I might get dessert first so I get to it, though the pork belly is almost dessert as an appetizer. Impeccable service and a Seattle legend.
Leigh Wright
If you want a fancy night out this is the place! They really are the real deal. Pricey but once you go you’ll understand why! Food and service is some of the best I’ve had!!
Kay Sam
Dinner was amazing. New York strip steak, asparagus and scalloped potatoes!! Surprisingly tasty all the way around. Celebrating my birthday here was exquisite. They even gave a cute birthday card and bread pudding to acknowledge my special day.
tina beck
First time here and LOVED everything about it. The food was incredible!
Taylor Prewitt
Went out for a few drinks. Service from Jay was excellent! I plan on coming back just for the service!
Matt Hainje
Ordered a 4-pack of New York steaks, and used the sous vide + grill for a fine New Year's Eve meal!
Jessica Guillotte
Really great takeout experience! We ordered their holiday meal to-go online a few weeks before Christmas. After receiving an email on Christmas Eve for our pickup window, we went to the restaurant and waited a surprisingly short amount of time until our order was ready. The staff were all very friendly while we checked in and waited. We reheated everything the next day and omg the food was so good! The instructions were easy to follow and it was the perfect amount of food for two people to feel slightly uncomfortably full. (A Christmas tradition, right?) We are looking forward to ordering from this restaurant again!

I've had many steaks at classic steakhouses across the US. For the longest time, Ringside in Portland stood as one of the most overpriced, underwhelming steaks I've ever had. Unfortunately, El Gaucho is up there in the same category of a disappointing steak. As a starter I had the tableside steak tartare - normally the beef should shine in this mostly classic preparation, however the horseradish was way too overpowering for the rest of the flavors in the dish (chalked up to "everyone likes it different" from the waiter, to which they were technically not wrong). I ordered the ribeye medium rare and the lobster mashed potatoes as a side. Despite being an 18-oz steak, I can't help but feel cheated compared to other places where I've ordered the same cut. This was a steak that was not so unremarkable that I would have found it on a small-town diner menu, but definitely not worth the prestige of being one of the most lauded establishments in Seattle. Unfortunately after reflecting on the entirety of the meal, the little things started to bother me more (the naked bread served to me without butter, and a steak without any bare-bones accoutrements like salt or butter). The saving grace for this review was the knowledgable whiskey captain on staff, who recommended some great beverages for the evening. Drink service probably kicked this up a star, however my main dig is the price point for the quality provided. I've had much better steaks for considerably less.
Bruce MacNaughton
Fantastic meat. Fantastic service. Fantastic sides. Wonderful ambiance. Great seafood. Good selection of scotch. Friendly staff from valet to receptionist to waiters.
The table was a little crowded. And the automatic tip policy is both confusing and awkward.
I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Kenneth Allen
Not just dinner out. El Gaucho is a dining experience with excellent service and magnificent food as the centerpiece. Tableside service with flaming sabers of meat, and freshly prepared Caesar Salads. Rum flamed Bananas Foster. Not a place one can go-to every night unless you have an unlimited budget. Make El Gaucho part of a special celebration.
Briaunna
Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff, great service. Came here for my mom's birthday, they allowed us to bring our own special wines (paid a fee to do so but it was reasonable) and they had excellent food. I couldn't eat much because I recently had my tonsils out, but they had food even I could eat. Wonderful experience ❤️
Ge Pe
Very good food, nice show cooking! Expensive but it's worth it! Make reservations!
Craig Tanaka
The service and food was amazing.
Spacing of tables made it very comfortable...and the staff in tuxedos!
Sara made the evening memorable and the special table setup was a very nice touch!
The vinaigrette switch on the Wedge Salad is one of the best dressings I have had, and that Tomahawk Steak carved tableside...just wow! Even the sides, Sweet Corn and Sautéed Mushrooms were excellent!
Jan P. Monsch
Excellent cuts of meat. Friendly and speedy service. Had live music that evening.
Larry Yenglin
We got there early before they opened and they said to sit in the entry way. Which was fine, but then they never came back to tell us they were open and come in. Seeing other people go in we realized that it was open. They should have told us. That was very poor service.
I also asked them to check my loyality account and let me know the balance. They never did that either. I had to ask again.
The food and table service was good.
James Khayat
Great atmosphere. Perfectly temped steak. Helpful and attentive staff. Oh and the wine. Oh the wine. Lol
Brad N
Phenomenal experience. Everything we had tried was the bomb so to speak — the bone in New York strip was cooked perfectly and was just fantastic. The lobster tail was also amazing! The hostess and server were very attentive and answered any question we had and really just made sure we had an enjoyable dinner. Definitely recommend this place!

I liked the food so much the crab cake and especially the Bone-In Rib Eye 😍. the meat so well cooked as I requested, well seasoned with some delicious mushrooms and mashed potatoes even I choose my steak without sauce but was so tasty. I went to many restaurants In the world I have never eaten like that fresh meat. The first bite I put in my mouth took me back to my home Morocco and even much better. believe me I am a very selective person in food. it’s was an amazing experience with vip service and I look forward to go again.

I'm first time to visit. This restaurant is nice mood. I chose baseball cut top sirloin. It was delicious and too big for me.
Cassandra Ferder
We had the most amazing table side service both salad and dessert. Our waitress was professional and personal, one of the best ever, at any restaurant - she was great! All five us had different things and all the food was delicious. The atmosphere was delightfully pleasant, piano in the background, a perfect way to enjoy an evening in Seattle. Thank you for making an evening one to remember.
Alan Mendoza
The place is really nice, the clam chowder was absolutely delicious and though the meal I ordered was not really to my taste it was delicious neither the less and I loved the cheesecake

El Gaucho in Seattle has been one of of our favorite places for many years. We visited their new location this past weekend to celebrate my birthday with two other couples and I must say it is not the same experience.
When we made it our table, our waiter took our drink order. One of the couples ordered a bottle of champagne which arrived within 5 minutes, the rest of us had to wait another 20 - 25 minutes to get our drinks. One couple order Caesar salad for 2, which it was prepared table side as usual; however the salad was placed in one plate. When asked if it was for 2, the person preparing the salad said yes which was odd because again it was in one plate. The same person decided to bring another plate and tongues and ask my friend to 'serve' it as they wanted it. We felt like we were at one of those chain restaurants. The steak was well prepared. Then came time for dessert. This place is famous for their bananas foster prepared table side which all of us ordered. When we all took our first bites, we noticed that the bananas did not taste well, they were green. I ordered a cappuccino and it came in a regular coffee cup and instead of being a cappuccino it was a shot of expresso. I mentioned it to the waiter and he said he would fix it. Came back 5 min later with the same cup, except that he had added a little bit of milk.
The waiter did notice that we were not eating the bananas foster and asked for feedback. He did the right thing and removed it from our bill.
Their traditional fruit and nut service at the end of the meal is gone. The new service is 'Roquefort butter' and a few slices of fruit with crackers.
Based on this experience, I am not sure we will be coming back. There are other steak houses in the Seattle area in the same price range but with better service.
Mark Fei
As high end steakhouses go, this is quite possibly the best in Seattle—certainly one of the top 2—and I've dined at all of them. There's not much to say since it's a steakhouse, but you'll get excellent examples, from cocktails to wine to food to service, of everything you'd expect from a place like this.
Kramer Cannon
You cannot go wrong with the Steak El Gaucho! I love the ambiance, genuine steakhouse feel. The perfect date spot, amazing happy hour. Highly recommend!
Penny & Michael Tibbitts
This is a nice new location. The service is always excellent! It is hard to find a better restaurant in Seattle. The meat and fish are always fresh and tasty and they will treat you like VIPs...Enjoy this fine restaurant.
Jj Del Carpio (jjdelc)
Steak was amazing! The place is very fancy but has no dress code so it's good to visit as a tourist.
I. Ordered the trio sampler and it was delicious.
Service is also top notch all the waiters are very informed and treat you really well. Definitely a stop if you're after great steak. But keep in mind the steep prices.
Herakles Li
Originally made a reservation here for a special occasion and the management really went out of their way to make it a great night! I had emailed ahead asking about a special order and not only were they able to accommodate but when I checked in on the request they already knew! As to be expected service was excellent. As for the food - from the warm garlic bread they begin with to the soup they kindly provided split, to the main course of steak - I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Definitely would recommend!
MAYRA MARTIN
Amazing food one of the best steak I ever had…great customer service beautiful location…great wine
Sue Mooney
We had such a lovely experience. It was my 50th birthday celebration AND our first indoor dining outing since COVID started. We were a bit nervous. But the staff did a stellar job of maintaining protocols and yet still preserving the special experience tht is El Gaucho. The food as always was amazing! The staff were so warm & professional. The New space is beautiful and airy. Can't recommend it high enough for that special occasion. Thank you for making it special and safe! ♥️
Robert Howard
Great service, excellent food & drink and they gave me that sense that I was something special to them as their patron that night.
Nicholas Miller
Absolutely awesome! Had the bone in new york and it was great. Wonderful service and delicious food!

So I'm a little late writing this review. Back in March we took our daughter to El Gaucho's for her Sweet 16 birthday. Drove from Portland, and it was more than worth the drive! The staff was so attentive to our daughter and went out of their way to make it an exceptional night for her. She was thrilled to be escorted by the staff all decked out in tuxedos! The waiter really took his time with us, offering suggestions, answering questions and allowing us to enjoy each course without being rushed. The food was simply fantastic. Quite possibly the most delicious meal our family has ever enjoyed. But the Banana's Foster showcase really topped off the night. My daughter was in awe and still talks about how wonderful this birthday dinner was. We will be back!
Ruth Reiser
Their service here was beyond compare. We had wonderful wait staff throughout the evening. My water glass was never empty. This is a big thing for me. We also had excellent advice on our meal selection as well as side dishes and drinks to accompany the whole event. We celebrated my son's 27th birthday and it was memorable in every way. Two people had Chateaubriand, one had the lobster, and one had the scallops and shrimp linguine. Everything we ordered was exquisite in taste. On top of everything else that was excellent we were given valet parking for free! It can't be beat!
Jarrad Liam
Amazing experience. Get the tartar. Cant wait to get back there. Seattle's finest.
Amy Kennedy
A fantastic 5-star experience. You feel like you've walked back in time at El Gaucho. The service is extremely friendly. Food is top notch. Had the tenderloin. It was buttery and full of flavor. Table side Caesar salad fresh and classic. Finished dinner with the cherries jubilee. Another table side service prep that was fun to watch. A fantastic place for special events.
Jay Reafs
Great service! Was well taken care of by all staff. Food was amazing, perfect portion size, and drinks are heavy on the pour. Highly recommend!
Michael Daley
First really nice restaurant visit in over 1 year. Service was great, so was all of my food except surprisingly, for my steak. Over cooked, asked for med-rare, got closer to med-well. For $80 I expect more. Will try again as past meals have been wonderful.
Daniel Miller
It's expensive but worth a visit. Great food and ambiance.

We visited El Gaucho for a long anticipated and very special anniversary dinner. We drove from California and made reservations for the same day (Saturday) due to the place not being open on Sundays.
Food: Escargot and Crab cakes started the experience with high hopes. However, my filet mignon was heavily salted then the second one was too charred. I drank so much water between these bites that it killed my buzz from my cocktails. So I ended up having the tuna. The tuna was everything I wanted in the steak. My husband had the Canadian lobster which was a tad salty too but he didn't mind. The brussel sprouts were tasty but the harissa sauce accompanying the dish was also inedibly salty. The Mac and cheese was great, perfectly balanced. And they whip their blue cheese! The whipped blue cheese was delicate and robust (not salty) that it gave me chills, it was that good. The Creme brule , very delish! Best brulee I've had.
Service: FYI, due to covid-19 the hosting party will not offer to take your coats. The policy is that it is only done upon request from guests. I didn't know this so it seemed unwelcoming at first. The table they seated us was in clear view of the clanking kitchen which prompted a request for a table with a slightly more intimate space, preferably to hear the live piano instead of the kitchen bustle. Jacob, the manager, accomodated us willingly. Rose petals and an anniversary card welcomed us at the second table. Jacob followed up to assure us that he will try his best and check in to make the experience memorable for us. Sarah was our attentive server. With the various feedback regarding the salty/charred food, both Sarah and Jacob offered more remedying gestures that I could ever think of. We really appreciated them! If I could review the service alone, it would get 5 stars.
Given the very salty taste in my mouth during the first half of our experience, I left with sweetness from the highlights: the zealous service by Jacob and Sarah, the Mac and cheese, the whipped blue cheese, and the creme brule. I really wish the steak and harissa sauce worked out. Do not drive 14 hours for steak here. The main course should be the zenith of fine dining, therefore, if I could review the food alone it would be 3 stars because I had my heart set on steak for this very special anniversary.
Instead, come for genuine people who care about their guests. We would probably come again if Jacob and Sarah were taking care of us, the steak be pan-seared (not grilled), will have to insist on going light on the seasoning and cannot be a on a special occasion so that the expectations are turned down a few notches. I think these conditions have a higher chance of creating an overall 5 star experience.
C. H.
Excellent dining experience. Top notch service, no upselling. Just good food in an intimate atmosphere.
Cassie Karst
Beautiful experience as always. We had Sierra as our main server. She was very fun, charming, and made excellent recommendations. All our food came out pristine and perfect. All the drinks were delicious and a little on the strong side ;) We definitely recommend the Canadian Lobster, Steak trio, and the Filet Mignon with the Maine Lobster medallion! This still continues to be my favorite atmosphere and steak location in Seattle!!
Sincerely,
Three very full and happily content bellies!!!
Bethany Jayne
I originally came in for my reservation just to find out that I was at the wrong location but both the staff and Robert manager were very helpful with accommodating us here at this beautiful location instead without a reservation needed. Thank you so much!! 💓 Food was amazing🤤 …
Brooke Penaloza
Have gone few times for work dinners, always great service and amazing food
Nick
We had high expectations and they were exceeded! Our server, Mark, was exceptional. His service was excellent but he didn't hover. The wedge salad was bigger than expected. The NY steak was cooked to perfection and the scalloped potatoes were the best I've ever had. My wife and I ranked this meal as the best we've had in our 5 years together. Couldn't ask for anything more. Totally worth the cost.
Vitek DVR
A giant dining room full of tables, without a single window. If you're looking for the dark room, white tablecloth atmosphere, here ya go.
I brought a guest for happy hour. The menu was limited, the service was average, the food was good, but no better than I could get at any fine-dining establishment. Then came the bill. Expensive, but what got me was that a 20% gratuity was automatically added for a party of two at the bar.... then there was the extra gratuity line on the ticket. At some point, I think I began to feel victimized. I will not return, nor would I recommend.
Dennis Goss
Great experience with Jimmy on his birthday! Steak and sides were excellent!
Ethan Austin
Always first class service. Very nice but never stuffy or snobby. A true Seattle experience and amazing steaks. Great location too.

Recommended by a waiter at the wharf. Quite surprised at the dim lighting when we went in. Loved the decor. A real throw back to the 50's. I apologize if I got the decade wrong. Kept expecting Humphrey Bogart to stroll by. Given flashlights to read the menu. Once I saw the prices I thought they probably didn't want the other patrons to know where the gasp is coming from. The steak was good, my husband does a better job. However overall the meal was really good and the experience was for us unique and once in a life time. To clarify we were 1 night in Seattle in transit and are world travellers so appreciate every opportunity to experience something different.
Allen Ho
Although the prices were higher than most steakhouses, the steak I had was fantastic. I ordered a French rib "bone in prime rib" and it was cooked to perfection. My wife ordered the halibut and it also tasted great. Most unique thing was for dessert they brought over a platter of nuts and fruits. Even though we were full, we couldn't help eating the dessert platter.

I have been going to El Gaucho for many years and their service used to be impeccable. The reason for only 4 stars is quite frankly the added 20% service charge. It is confusing at best, and I believe it has impacted the service there. The waitstaff is not as attentive and rightfully so when they may or may not get an added tip because the house is taking 20% to spread evenly. I normally tip more than that but was so confused by the time I got my $500 bill (service fee included). Did not know what the protocol was. I am still trying to understand why this is neccessary at a fine dining establishment such as this. Other than that, the food is fantastic and the ambiance is...unmatched. I get that this is common now in Seattle, but I like the idea of tipping my server independently. Especially when fine dining.
Mark Harper
The wait staff was nice, the food was ok, but the whole thing wasn’t great. We ordered a crab cocktail, table side Caesar salad, two rare steaks and a tail. While everyone was polite and friendly, it took about an hour and a half to get our entree. They did give us a discount but we were looking for a great night and not a great discount. Also, their cocktails were ok - mine seemed watered down and I saw the table next to us send an entire round back. My wife and I agreed that this was easily 3 stars but could’ve been 2 without the polite servers.
Steve S.
Excellent place! Great staff and delicious food!

Excellent food, but boy is it pricey. If you're looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion this is it. Valet was $15 on 1/21/19. The atmosphere is sultry and romantic, the lights are turned down low, so menus come with mini flashlights. The table side Caesar salad and bananas Foster are amazing.

El Gaucho was wonderful in accommodating our large group for a surprise birthday party we held. They did a fantastic job playing along and making sure the birthday girl was well taken care of. We did a buffet-style dinner which was delicious- I’ve never had such wonderful food for a buffet. Would definitely recommend for any special occasion.
Zolaire
Very classy high quality dining experience if you have the money and time to enjoy a meal here. There is no enforced dress code but you will probably feel more comfortable in the environment if you dress up your outfit even just a little bit. I had fun going here with a few friends at once even though this restaurant is definitely more of a "romantic date"-vibe.
Ronin Gonzales
Literally, 5-Star service. I took my wife here on our anniversary because of the reviews. The staff is genuinely pleasant and attentive. Ambiance is comfortable. Dimly lit and great music. Perfect for our romantic dinner. If you are ever in Seattle, this is a must! Did i mention the food was amazing. Great job El Gaucho - keep it up.
Tracy Nakayiza
Went there for my boyfriend's birthday. The staff was very accommodating for a reservation I made on such notice. The steak I ordered was very well made although the baseball cut was a little tough. The Caeser salad, made in front of you, is excellent. Our teenager had a fun time trying the escargot.
Defintely a place we will be back to often.
Eddie Hong
Great, dry-aged steaks with delicious sides like mashed potatoes. Wide selection of wines and cocktails, and delicious desserts to finish off the meal. With a glass of wine, an entree, and a side, it usually works out to about 100$ per person. The food during restaurant week is affordable and very delicious. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is that the servers are oddly aloof.
sajo sunde
Service and drinks were good. The steaks were good quality but bland and our sides were just ok. It was not worth the money.
Maya Hough Elliano
Best meal I’ve had - the Caesar salad here is just perfect. The staff is so friendly here. Went here for my dad’s 70th birthday and the steak & wine were spectacular.
Heather Dunham
Excellent all around, the service was over the top perfect. My server even showed me to the restroom. Letting me hold his arm to guide me down the stairs through the dining room.
The food was exquisite, beautifully prepared, with tableside services for several of our dishes. My only complaint is that my fillet mignon was slightly overcooked. I asked for medium rare and it was medium, just very lightly pink.
Overall, it was a very lovely dining experience. I would recommend El Gaucho to anyone looking for a premium steakhouse dining experience.
Katherine Owen
Amazing steak as a little girl my dad would bring me here. We were celebrating 3 December birthdays. I had a reservation and we waited 30 minutes were served $80 in drinks while we waited to be seated in a very mediocre spot. Not so much as a piece of birthday cake or a glass of wine was comped to our $700 Bill. Just left a bad taste when we have been loyal customers for these same birthdays for years and the wait and the table took down on the specialness of the evening.

I absolutely love the new location! It’s sexy with a very classy flare. The food is AMAZING per usual, and the service is exceptional! It’s always lovely to see all the familiar faces. 20 stars.
Pre-Pandemic:
AMAZING! From the food, to the drinks, to the live music! This place never disappoints! It's the epitome of class. I love it here! Great location.
Isabel Quinton
This is the nicest restaurant I have ever been to, and it did not disappoint! We had a reservation for our anniversary, and even though we showed up a bit too early, they seated us as soon as possible. The staff was informed it was our anniversary and many said congratulations, they also put a little card and rose petals on the table. The food was amazing, with complementary bread and a cheese/nut/fruit platter. I'm sad I didn't have enough room for desert and we had to catch a ferry. Instead of calling for a cab, the valet guys drove us down to the ferry terminal for free! Loved every second of it, the ambiance, food, and great service!
Julie Langlois
The best hotel experience I've ever had. Aside for the excellent location and beautiful rooms, the staff (especially Lee) made us feel like long lost friends. Upon arrival there was a hand written note welcoming us in the room along with music playing and cookies. One night our group was in the lobby and mentioned wanting BBQ... 30 minutes Jack's BBQ showed up with all kinds of delicious BBQ - compliments of Lee. Amazing! We'll never stay anywhere else when in Seattle. What a treat!
Meredith Kinsman
Very delicious food and wonderful staff. Very friendly and the service is quick. Some of the dishes are prepared in front of you which is fun! Drinks are fantastic!!!
Mark Schubert
Amazing steakhouse in downtown Seattle. Dimly lit for a private and intimate dining experience. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. Quality of food and customer experience are paramount, definitely a great experience and highly recommended.
Michael Pellegrini
Definitely the best steakhouse in Seattle. You don't just go here for a great meal, you go here for an experience to remember. It's the kind of place you dress up for, and celebrate something special at. The food is incredible, as is the service, and you're treated like royalty. If I'm in the mood for a good steak with a crab leg on the side, this is definitely the spot. The tableside Cesar salad and Bananas Foster are also unforgettable. When you're ready to treat yourself, or a loved one, to a very special evening, this is definitely the place to go!
Scott Steinbaugh
LOVE LOVE this place. its too bad there isn't one in NYC. I've had dinner here several times, but I prefer the bar, and especially the happy hour. I always seem to pop in when Brent the bar tender is working. He is the nicest bartender I have ever had. He even remembers my name when I come it. There is a great happy hour at the bar--I recommend you visit.
Sean Bachler
Wife and I celebrated a late birthday dinner here for me and the staff was incredibly friendly. The food was killer and the atmosphere was very relaxing and romantic. We will definitely be back!
Philip Gissen
Ran over to El Gaucho at 9:20 PM, after cocktails at Belltown Provisions, for a quick birthday dinner at the bar. We called first to be assured the kitchen was serving. Seattle is a big city, but restaurants close early during the week. We hurriedly ordered food and drinks as the place was emptying out. I felt bad, but it was my birthday, and although I’m old, I still wanted to have fun. The bartender was not happy, and disappeared during our meal. Stacy remained and was gracious to the end. Thank you Stacy, you saved my birthday. It was just the two of us, because after living here for two years, there is still no one else we know in Seattle to celebrate with. It isn’t a friendly city, and at 72, the young demographic looks at me as if I’m already a corpse. Thus, Stacy, you were very kind. Food is always good at El Gaucho, and we had desserts to go. Our steaks were perfect BTW. El Gaucho is expensive, but everything is expensive in Seattle, so no big deal. It wasn’t memorable, but I had a nice time on my 72nd birthday.
We finally ate inside El Gaucho, for my birthday, after a year of not living dangerously. The new building is gorgeous, the interior a combination of the old and the new. The designers did a great job. It's an elegant space.
I might add the ambiance, music, tone etc. is a bit too "old school" for me, and I'm 71 years old! This El Gaucho caters to a "country club" sub-culture, and lacks a hip quotient. It's more Ronald Reagan than Barack Obama.
Service began overly formal, stiff almost, but picked up on our need for a more casual relationship with our servers. The staff is quite prescient and experienced. Rebecca, and our Milwaukee home girl Megan, took good care of us. Food is always good at El Gaucho. Our steaks were perfect, the sides done just the way we like it. El Gaucho is the quintessential steakhouse, and the corporation running the restaurants have the template down pat. Yet, that may be the only issue I have with the El Gaucho chain. It is corporate, and no longer has a local vibe. It mirrors Seattle's need to be generic, as dot com homogeny usurps Seattle's identity. El Gaucho is as good as all the great chain steakhouses, Capital Grill, Flemings, Morton's, the Palm, etc. Sadly, it is equal, no different, and has lost its identity as a bastion of Emerald City dining. Prices are very high, especially with the 10% city food tax added on. In addition, El Gaucho includes a 20% gratuity, but the servers only get 15%. Thus, I add an extra 5% to the check.________________________________________
We splurged on steak last night. A splurge because I have been on an intense diet and exercise regimen to lower cholesterol and blood sugar. Enough already! Let me enjoy life for one evening.
I analyzed and read about five steakhouses in Seattle:
El Gaucho
D’La Santa
The Butcher’s Table
Metropolitan Grill
Buenos Aires Grill
After comparing reviews, prices, and Yelp reports, I chose El Gaucho for “take out” in this horrific period of spiraling Covid rates. Hey, looking at the outside dining opportunities in Seattle:
THOSE TABLES ARE TOO DAMN CLOSE PEOPLE!
Our meal was fantastic at El Gaucho, now on Western Avenue on the fringe of Belltown and the Market. Our steaks were just the way we wanted. My NY Strip medium was charred “Pittsburgh Style,” a conflict in terms if not cities. Wedge salads were good, mashed potatoes sublime, and the Key Lime Pie delicious and huge. With a 20% tip, the price of our dinner was $251.00.
That’s admittedly high, but with Seattle’s 10.1% tax, I felt our cost was well spent. It was a wonderful splurge.
Dan Rustan
Great atmosphere for romantic occasions. The food was great, one of the best steaks I've had. The cherries jubilee flambed table side was so good and entertaining to watch. A complementary fruit and cheese plate at the end of the meal was a nice touch.
Anthony Schlacks
Came here during Restaurant Week without a reservation. The place was packed, so understandably it took a while to get seated at such short notice. Ordered off the RW menu. Food was a little less warm than desired, but was good nonetheless. I had a guava mixed drink which I enjoyed.
Bill Schubert
This is a classic case of getting what you pay for. The service is old school elegance, the food is exquisite, the atmosphere is comfortable. It is easy to forget how nice a top restaurant can be.
John Webber
The food, service and atmosphere here are amazing! I spent my birthday dinner here this week, and everything about this place made the night feel special. The specialty is steak, which is so well done here, but everything from the side dishes to the dessert and wine were spot on. I'll be back!
Heidi Tittle
The steak is delicious, the service was excellent. Music and atmosphere were wonderful. I would love to come back on an wedding anniversary or birthday. Our waitress Danielle was amazing she was attentive but not overbearing.
Coco
*Very respectful to women.
*Stay away from the happy hour burgers! They are very dry and crumbly even if you order them medium rare. I think it might be that the burger grind comes from the sirloin cut which is not very fatty.
* The happy hour steak sandwich is a much better choice. It is juicy and flavorful.
* The cosmo cocktail was not so great, especially for the price and it did not to be made with any kind of care.
*The shiitake slider was dry, rubbery, overcooked and bland. The side of coleslaw had pieces of dry, old carrots with no coleslaw dressing. I have no idea who would let a dish like that out of the kitchen!
* It seems like the food comes transported from the 1960s. Great service, nice ambiance, comfortable booths, low lighting, pleasant background music is what you pay for and you get.
* The wait staff seems like mostly happy people too.
* The 20 percent service charge seems fair until you read the fine print and read that some of it is paying for costs other than tips like health care and salaries.
Leslie George
Prices are definitely in line with the service and food you will receive. Go celebrate an anniversary, promotion, or first paycheck and you will not be disappointed. Only rating 4 stars because the restaurant has an indoor cigar room that was being heavily used when I went.
Carol Hammer
This restaurant has been on my wish list for years as one you visit for "Special Events". A friend and I visited for Happy Hour and had drinks, appetizers and dessert. I was not disappointed with the food or service at all but I wasn't expecting the casual shorts, Tshirts and sandals worn by most of the clientele. It was very dark (they supplied flashlights to read the menu) but it seemed like the carpets were dirty and the nicest thing I can say about the powder room was the quality of the hand towels. Another item checked off the bucket list but I don't need to go back.
T Chan
Shared the Chateaubriand with my wife. Very tender grilled medium rare. Service was spectacular and the atmosphere was quite romantic. The live saxophone, electric piano, and drum trio provided smooth jazz to accompany the dinner. We quite enjoyed the experience.
Chris McCabe
Good service is rare these days, but El Gaucho hasn't forgot and delivers impeccable service and atmosphere that is hard to match. There are many high end steak houses that are no more than a Cheesecake Factory with a pretty face and a high price, but El Gaucho has a personality of it's own without being pretentious and stuffy. The steaks are cooked over a real charcoal grill which is visible from the dining area, so you get all that great barbeque flavor (the ventilation system works very well) in a truly classy environment with service that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time about 50 years. There is an extensive wine and whiskey selection at all price levels. The main dining area is a little pricey but unmatched for any special occasion or just a nice treat, and the bar and happy hour menu has many great options at a very reasonable price that beats any happy hour in town, so it does not have to be an expensive, rare night out to have a great meal. I highly recommend it.
Grace
This place was terrible. They absolutely served us something that was rotten. It ruined my 40th bday as we ended up leaving after the rotten appetizer. No manager came, nothing. I will never eat here again. It's really a terrible establishment.
Update. After speaking with the manager i have updated based on how great she was. Sometimes bad things happen but you can totally turn it around with how you rectify it and she definitely did a great job following up with me.

El Gaucho is a standard. It’s a place you can reliably find good food and great service. The staff is great, and attention to details can be found throughout the restaurant and your dining experience. They offer staples of a steakhouse and combine some unique twists to make the menu their own. The selection of wine and alcohol is also very good. The prices are higher than other restaurants in Belltown, but are in line with the level of service and quality of food.
Heaven Sanghera
Best Steak in the town. Perfect drinks 🍹
Mona Lisaa
Chipotle honey roasted corn is a must have! Best risotto ever(according to my chef friend). The steaks are pricey but they are good quality and you get enough meat for your money, this is based off of the menu listing. The appetizer and side menu really satisfied our fancy. Food portions are generous. The ambience is unmatched. Live piano. Let me not forget how delicious the garlic bread was. Next time I am in Seattle I will be stopping by. The resuruatnt is pricey if you are on a budget but you will really enjoy the food and it is worth the splurge. Our waiter(I wish I could remember his name...BRIAN I think) was the best. Very helpful, pleasant and even though it was late we did not feel rushed to order.
Hannah
Great place for the atmosphere and service. You're going to pay a lot so obviously expect that. We had the Diablo shrimp which were very good and quite spicy. The sauce made them. For mains I had the filet with lobster and artichokes covered in a bearnaise sauce. The cook was perfect and lobster a great texture. I would definitely recommend this dish. My husband had the New York pepper steak and this dish is the reason for the 4 stars. It was very salty and a bit overcooked. Not worth the price we don't think. We were very full so unfortunately had to skip the dessert but the many table side flamed desserts looked fun and delicious. They bring complementary cheese, fruit and nuts at the end of your meal which was very nice. All and all the atmosphere and service was wonderful, I don't think it's worth the price though. This is definitely a staple Seattle place though so worth checking out at least once for a special occasion. There is no dress code but it's a place you want to dress up to go to.
Krystal Kanh
There's a cool old time rat-pack feel to this place. Have only dined at the bar yet every time the service is exceptional. Also, you can't pout about the blue cheese stuffed olives. Prices here reflect the service and food you will receive. A favorite spot when I want to "treat yo' self".
Crystal Rustad
For the price, you expect nothing less than extraordinary, and our group of 12 was not disappointed! Each course was brought out at the same time and cooked to perfection. Too much to eat all in one sitting, so they discreetly boxed for me to enjoy later.
Diana Sonnenburg
Top drawer all the way. From the time you arrive until you leave the attention is focused on you and your group. The ambience is an outstanding 50's vibe, the service is excellent as is the food. I highly recommend this fine restaurant.
Aaron Brown
A Belltown classic now in a swank new location. Well worth the price for top quality service and sumptuous food. Get the table side prepared Caesar salad and the tenderloin Diablo.
Charles Gardner
Went to the Greece Cabaret tonight to celebrate Valentine's Day with my GF. Her steak was a beautiful and flavorful but unfortunately, mine was very undercooked and seemed seared more than anything. The thyme on the heirloom potatoes and the asparagus dominated every other flavor which was disappointing.
The Cabaret though... WAS ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!! I can't wait to go back.
daisy Pimentel
This is an excellent restaurant, the service was great thanks to our waiter Mock. The food was scrumptious from the entrée to the desert.
Mikki
Personally I thought the pasta tasted a little bland for the price. But all staff were nice - especially the server was great, he did everything he could for us to enjoy our experience to the fullest!
David Bensel
Service was excellent. They were very excited to learn we were from out of town. Will definitely go back when we visit in the future. Food was delicious and booze was plentiful and tasty.

Came here for my wedding anniversary with my husband. We have previously been to Aqua by El Gaucho but this was our first time at this location. It's a bit of a different setting if you've ever been to Aqua, Aqua is a bit brighter maybe a tad more formal as well. El Gaucho is a bit old school looking, in a very dark romantic setting. The food was fantastic and met my expectations as compared to my experience at Aqua. The reason I give it 4 stars was due to how long it took our main meal to come out. We had a reservation at 7 p.m. and we did not get served until 8:30 p.m. Mind you, we did not have much for appetizers between 7 and 8:30. We only ordered a soup and a drink each to which we were served and done eating our soup by 7:30. Our waitress had also not come over very often to check on us or update us about our meal or fill our waters. Also, about 15 minutes after we ordered she came by to confirm what we had ordered because she had forgotten and did not write order down. They were very busy, they may have been understaffed I don't know but, whatever the reason our experience was still affected negatively. Once they brought our food at 8:30 we asked them to put it into to-go boxes because we had a movie in Bellevue we needed to catch in 30 minutes. We were a bit upset at first but the restaurant made it right by apologizing for the very long wait and being generous with our bill and crediting a few items to make up for the hour-long wait. On top of that they also brought out 2 desserts for us to take with us. I'd like to think that this service experience is a rarity at this restaurant as I consider El Gaucho to be the best restaurant in Seattle. Had it not been for the service they would have received five stars because the food and the ambiance were spectacular.
Christopher Crammond
This is a great Argentine steakhouse, but it is expensive. Make no mistake, the food is great (hence the 5 stars), but price means this isn't a place that I commonly frequent. Also, the portions of food are quite large - so if you going you need to go hungry! With that out of the way, this is great steak. Large cuts of meat that are wonderfully prepared. You have to get the lobster mashed-potatoes are an excellent (but filling) side dish too. Finally, be sure to save some room. Post-gorging, they bring out a plate of fruit, nuts, and blue cheese. Granted, I am almost always too full to eat any of it - but it is a nice complementary touch. I understand that they have a nice happy hour too, but I've yet to try it myself.
Richie Simpson
I have always loved the restaurant and all its glory since I first came here back in 2003. Talk about style, grace and swank...this place definitely brings back class.
That's just the restaurant...
The Inn is even better! Amazing rooms! We stayed in room 9 which had a view of the back alley and a peak of the water and shoreline. I'm sure other rooms have better views...except the ones along the center of inside the building. I don't recall seeing an elevator. So I became a stair master quickly. We had no problems with any outside noise but we stayed on a Sunday night.
I'm kind of disappointed in how the Pampas Room has been changed from what it used to be with live acts.
As for location...not a far walk away from Westlake and Pikes Place Market. Plenty of restaurant choices there...but call before going. Some places closed early despite their advertised times.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend The Inn as I always recommended the restaurant...
Joseph Raczynski
Very cool retro interior with 1950's movie-esq feel. The staff is friendly and accommodating.
The hamburger at the bar has an imposing look, so tall you had to cut it in half and smush/tamp it down. Though requested medium well, it was killed. Not a huge deal. The meat and entire package was solid, I expected a bit more for this heavy meat influenced restaurant. The other sandwich ordered was just okay - the steak sandwich. Overall, while the ambiance was special the food failed to fit the aura.
Jamie Elgie
Really great service and a super ambience. Looks like a former Speakeasy. It's a steakhouse and the steak was very good. Though I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had. Bread pudding for dessert was excellent. Overall I highly recommend it.
Claudia Diorio
Outstanding! Classy service and decor and the steaks were divine... Old fashioned style that stands the test of time. Rebecca our server was terrific, as was Larry... Love El Gaucho!
Bruce Hough
While a little expensive, worth it by far due the attentive servers, excellent food and presentation...certainly the ambiance with piano was lovely as well
Willie Black
I came here with my sister and the table-side Ceasar salad was ordered. I've had table-side Ceasar before and it's always come across to me as a bit of a gimmick. I can confirm it is not just a gimmick here. It was far far far better than I've ever had. The dressing was the perfect combination of salty and savory. The lettuce had the proper snap to it and wasn't overly watery either. Classy salad, El Gaucho, classy salad. 👍
Greg Key
Perfect service and excellent food. We settled in for New Year's Eve and couldn't have been more comfortable. Live piano music added an elegant touch to the festive atmosphere.
Gary Samson
I have been to El Gaucho several times and I am always pleased with the atmosphere, service and good eats. I love the live piano, dim lights and vintage night club ambiance. Be prepared to pay a fair price for an upscale dining experience.
CA Gray
You simply cannot go wrong with this place. They have very good bartenders and a great menu and some of the best service in town. You can reserve a room at the Inn at El Gaucho from your table. All ladies are escorted arm in arm by uniformed busboys to the restroom, which reads like an old Nordstrom lounge. The restaurant itself is dimly lit and exceptionally cozy. The ambiance is unique to El Gaucho. I could go on about it forever <3
Matthew Beck
Oh my what a wonderful steak! Everything is amazing. The people or amazing. The rooms are incredible. Just order at the bar. If you've never been go for lunch. They have choicest cuts! They brought back the ostrich!
Kevin Collins
Good food, server was nice, and knowing the food. Price prepared to go broke, if you special someone wants dining like this dump her or him.
Lian Weiland
A Seattle institution. Great ambiance, intimate setting. Incredible food. Mostly steak, but I had the prawn & scallop linguine and it was perfect. Also try the seafood salad, you won't be disappointed! Valet parking is available. Parking in the area can be tricky. They also have a shuttle bus, which I'm not sure how that works but something to look into.
Brenton Van Amburg
Surprised the girlfriend with a romantic dinner. This place was recommended and boy was I glad we went here. Every aspect of the night was perfect. From the service to the food, it was just perfect. We had the steak and lobster, drinks, and desert. Best dinner we have had in a long time. Expensively priced, but worth every penny. We will definitely be going again!!
maggie makbryde
The food was okay. This is a chain restaurant and chain restaurant food is what we got. The bread and butter okay, but did you guys have to put salt chunks in the butter? Not good! The salad which I ordered had a salty salad dressing, and chicken didn’t have much flavor but salt. I get that we here in America think if we spent a lot it must be good .. but good grief! Next time just bring out a brick of salt and a glass of tap water.. I give this place three stars because the atmosphere was nice..
R L
We went for happy hour and it was delicious! Sweet ribs and Cajun steak...Wow! Bar staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. Happy hour menu was surprisingly cheap but quality was not!
Gretchen Black
Old school steak house! Love the ambience, reminds of a by gone era. White table cloths, servers in suits, beautiful mirrored bar.
You can eat in the dining room or at the bar.
Its located downstairs from the very small boutique hotel and also houses a movie theatre with full bar!
Rashi Parham
Hands down one of the best steaks I have ever had. Everything was first class about this place. The prawns were so fresh and service was perfect. They even put on a show for you for your desert. Overall great experience
Kevin Lustgarten
If you're gonna be downtown, and you need ONE MORE place to go -- maybe for dessert or a cocktail -- then drop by El Gaucho's bar. We had had dinner elsewhere but went here for a cocktail and Bananas Foster. Just sit in the bar (no wait, plenty of tables) and have this flaming goodness made table-side! Fun times.
Peter
Exquisite restaurant with an amazing wine selection. I had the filet mignon 12 oz steak and it just melts in your mouth. The sides were equally as good (corn and brussel sprouts). One thing that was a complete rookie mistake which you don't expect from a high end steakhouse is that one of the crab cake appetizers was served almost frozen in the middle. They appropriately brought a replacement but it dropped them to four stars.
Jason Fox
I took my lovely fiance for an evening out and El Gaucho delivered. The ambience, the service, the piano, even the smells were pleasing. I orded the Rib Eye medium rare and we shared a scalloped potatoes and asparagus. We started with the Ceaser Salad, that is hand made right at your table. It was an authentic Ceaser so full of flavor. The Asparagus was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were delicious with just a quick of heat. But that Steak. 28 day aged, cooked to perfection, with a rich char... I did not want it to end.
Scott Wood
Amazing ~2.5 hour experience. Service outstanding, food delicious, vibe in new location was great.
Vanessa
I was here my birthday had a nice dinner and then a nice couple oh and the movie theater love that I said I can have drinks in the movie sharing huge establishment at this present time it's now the crocodile
Nam Nguyen
I've only been here a few times but always have a good time both times. I do like that they have valet parking because downtown Seattle parking at any time of the day is horrible, especially if it's raining.
The decor is black painted walls and ceilings but there are street lamp style lighting throughout the dining area to give it an outdoor nighttime feel.
Service is rather impeccable, everyone always has a smile on their face and very helpful and friendly.
I've only been here for dessert so I can't comment on their menu items, however the drinks and desserts are delicious. Not the cheapest of places but I do love the bread pudding has to be one of the best if not the best bread pudding I've ever had. Soft smooth in texture and flavor but not mushy and wet. The creme burlee is a close 2nd to Daniel's Broiler (i love their vanilla bean creme burlee), just the right amount of burnt sugar on top, i do prefer the creme part to be a little more dense. Banana Fosters is a beautiful demonstration and presentation of the dessert. Delicious for what it is but it's definitely a special occasion dessert as it is a pretty penny to have.
Overall, great service, atmosphere and they offer valet parking which is a huge plus for parking downtown is tough. I'll be back to try the rest of the menu sooner than later!
Eric S
This was definitely a good experience - more than 4 stars, but not quite 5. The atmosphere was nice, live piano was great and the service was fantastic! The food was good also, but it didn't stand out and wow us.
Sydnee Dieckman
Came here for our second wedding anniversary. The staff went out of their way to add nice touches to make out experience special and memorable. Our waitress, Dani, was especially great.
Linda M
Elegant, fine dining with spectacular food, wine selections and service. Perfect for that very special evening. Few places do everything perfectly and El Gaucho does it with style.
Katie Yamada
I've been to El Gaucho a few times, and the last one was probably my poorest experience. We had a table of 6, we had made a reservation but the restaurant was rather busy so we weren't seated up until the last minute that our reservation was for - not a problem.
El Gaucho is a Seattle-classic, it has no windows and the waiters are in tuxedos. There's generally live piano music playing where you'll get more than just classical piano pieces - we heard the Game of Thrones soundtrack.
I had to ask a few times for the waiter to bring out a simple sparkling water with lime, instead of leaving me with flat water (also, later throughout the dinner I asked for a refill and he instead took my flat water and never brought me the refill he promised, strange). The drinks were also brought out staggered, which was strange. I ordered a filet mignon (as I usually do), medium rare and it was cooked about medium/medium well (I added the photos I took). My colleague also ordered a medium rare steak and his was cooked to the same level that mine was. I always order medium rare here and have never had such an issue, it was an anomaly but apparently didn't just happen to me. There was one more order of a medium rare steak, but this one had come out as had been expected. I chose to receive a new one, my colleague did not. Unfortunately by the time it came out I was no longer hungry, it had come out well past the time where everyone had finished eating - I'd also like to note here that it came out extremely rare. The waiter was kind enough to wait until I had cut into the meat to make sure it was up to par with my standards, at that point I was no longer hungry, accepted defeat and thanked him redoing my order. Our waiter also told us that he would take both of those steaks off the menu (I didn't see the bill to confirm this).
One other strange incident during the dessert portion. Not all of us wanted dessert, the waiter stood by to hear the entire conversation. My friend deliberately pointed at 4 people and explained to the waiter that each of them wanted bananas foster, so 4 orders of bananas foster (+1 order of key lime pie). As the cart was brought out, I noticed the chef had 8 plates of ice cream on his cart. Apparently one order of bananas foster includes two servings, and although we deliberately told our waiter that 4 people were eating this dish (and there were 6 people at the table), he failed to question why we would order 8 plates of bananas foster before putting in the order and charging us for it. Why would a table of 6 want 8 orders, when we specifically identify for the waiter the 4 individuals who are eating the dish? It doesn't seem like crazy complicated math to me.
The handful of other experiences I've had at El Gaucho have been fine. I highly recommend getting scalloped potatoes. I'll probably come back here but was a little appalled at my last experience.

El Gaucho. "We dress up so you don't have to." I treated my wife to Valentine's Day here earlier this year and it's fair to say they blew my doors off. I was incredibly impressed with the quality of the service, the flavor and style of the food, and the decor. I'm smitten. El Gaucho is the best steakhouse in the city, there is no doubt in my mind. We've been back 3 times since then and will no doubt be back again in the near future. We're always greeted with smiles by all staff, doors are held open, coats are checked, chairs are held out and napkins placed on our laps. Have enjoyed the flaming brochette of tenderloin with its bearnaise sauce, and the creme brulee. Things we particularly enjoyed: the dessert platter with its selection of cheese, nuts and fruit.. The pen lights they give you to assist in reading the menu.. The overall high class of service we've received. The only place in the city with a similar class of service is Canlis; I would rate El Gaucho and Canlis as the #1 and #2 restaurants in Seattle. Don't pass this one up.

This is what a steakhouse should be like. When you walk through the doors you feel as if you just walked into something special. It is one grand room with a large bar, piano and two levels of seating. We had the wicked shrimp, northwest oysters, classic wedge salad, top sirloin and New York steak with a side of brussel sprouts.
The wicked shrimp is a must order. It is on the spicy side so be aware.
The steaks were cooked perfectly and were delicious. I always get my steak medium rare.
If you like brussel sprouts, you will love the deep fried ones they make.
Note that at the end of your meal they will give you a platter of fruits and nuts.
Didn’t order any tableside items but something you will want to try.
Heather K
This place is a definite hidden gem. 17 rooms, quaint little warm welcoming hotel with 5 star service. Get the valet, it's worth it. They even had a shuttle to take us to the front VIP door of our venue! Saved us money and a bug hassle! Any time you're in Seattle and get a chance to stay here, do it. You won't regret it.
Tom C
Steak and fish high quality. For steak and cod, didnt feel there was anything unique in taste to really Bragg about it. Service excellent, felt a bit dark and antique like.
CJ Rhone
Went here for our 1 year anniversary. Staff was amazing, food was amazing. Come here for a special occassion. Be sure to try the banana foster.
JD Carroz
Like great steak? Like fine wine? Like wearing black? El Gaucho is the place for you. Staff is attentive to every need, meals are prepared exactly to order and it feels like a club room steak house. I'd hit the movie at Big Picture first, as after the meal a movie might turn into a nap.
Jenny & Jordan Claudon
Nice staff, but the Seattle Restaurant Week menu we sampled last night was weak. The mushroom soup was served barely warm and had a mucus consistency, sort of watery thickened with corn starch. The beef fillet medallions were room temperature in bearnaise mixed with oil and the presentation was sloppy. The shrimp and grits with spicy sauce, well the grits were gloppy and the shrimp were overcooked. The bread pudding was cold, dense and needed a knife and fork to cut. The steak tartare, prepared tableside with florish, was plated as if a cafeteria server plopped it on a plate.
So, having said all that, the restaurant was full to the brim and the team that served us was friendly and attentive. We'll give it another try and order off the regular menu when there's less stress on the staff.
David Ivantsov
An authentic high end restaurant. If you want to go to a restaurant that litterally blows your mind, this is the place. Once inside, feels nothing like any other restaurant. Were given a cheese platter after our course to relax and just talk. No rush to get out. Very cozy and welcoming environment. Just do yourself a favor and dress nice. Also, don't expect to pay less than 200$. Great for anniversarys.
Brent Swettman
Very high scale place, food was amazing, yet very pricy. 20% service charge on all orders covers tip
Dana Prouty
The meals are not worth the price point. The table side salad and desserts are gimmicky. The restaurant is annoyingly dark and loud.
They offer good options for events and private functions that have better tasting food and ambiance than the main dining area.
David Huynh
Amazing place for steak! Very formal dining and a great place to take a date on a special occasion. Service is impeccable! Only thing I would say is that the restaurant is extremely dark, though it does give a certain feel to the place that you won't find anywhere else.
Joe Sparks
Paul, our waiter, was excellent!! Loved our table side caesar salad and the steaks were perfect!! Was a great way to spend our anniversary. Next time we are in Seattle we will be back!!
James T. (iflipcars)
If you are searching for an upscale establishment and are not concerned with the price tag, then it would be hard not to recommend El Gauche. Both the service and food were exceptional. I prefer the atmosphere at the Tacoma location, and the Foie Grois was extremely underwhelming (especially as a $25 add-on), but I still enjoyed my meal emensely. (Be warned bargain hunters; my meal was $200 with one drink and tip 😮)
Jer McLeod
Dimly lit environment that reminds you of old school classic dining.
Best lists of wines and scotches with a menu yo behold. Table side prep of certain items and desserts add a special flare
Ronald Schneider
My favorite restaurant in the entire galaxy! Expensive but worth every savored bite! Heaven on a fork. I always order the Filet mignon! It is love. Can you love food? I can't stop thinking of it. I am excited to see it again.
Ginnie Joubert
Cchhuuuuuu this place is expensive, but you have to know that before going in. Really romantic atmosphere and fancy as all get out. The scallop appetizer was by far the best thing on the menu. Those babys melted right in your mouth and that sauce was to die for. It wss probably frowned upon that I saved the sauce to dip my steak in but oh well, our server laughed and said she loved the fact that I did that. Louisiana country come to town is what I told her! Haha! It goes without being said that service was on point because every time I took a sip of water, they were refilling it. But this place takes pride in not only their food but service as well, so it's to be expected. If you REALLY want to treat yourself and/or your spouse, go for it!
Chris Gatley
Dark but they give you a little light to be able to see things. That is why the pictures of food look weird.
Erik and Amy Young
My wife and I had the most amazing dining experience one could ever hope for. We came to Seattle from Coeur d Alene to specifically dine at EL GOUCHO. As to be expected with a fine dining establishment, no detail was left unattended by our most gracious host, SARA MONROE! Sara was most attentive to our every need without intrusiveness. I wish we could make this a six star review. We were completely blessed and very satisfied.
Jason Kunselman
Best place ever for their steaks! A service is amazing! Great atmosphere
Zachary Smith
Food was amazing and the staff was excellent!
Antoine Victor
The food and ambiance was sublime... The brussel sprouts with bacon were to die for! Minus 1 star for the %20 service charge for a party of 2!! I can understand a service charge being added for a large group or in areas with heavy Asian or European tourist traffic as tipping is not customary in Asian and European countries... But with the excellent service we received for our party of 2 I would have tipped 30% or more. But as one begins to add a tip to a bill then notices the tip has already been "snuck" in hoping I am too drunk or too unaware to notice I feel deceived!! So if you ask for 20 percent... You get 20%
But I wonder how I would feel if the service were not excellent but I was still forced to pay a 20% service fee?
Short Version: El Gaucho, stop that! 20% service charge on parties of 6 or more... Other than that let your service speak for itself! After all a T.I.P is not an entitlement a T.I.P. is To Insure Performance
Jon Bovey
When you want to have a dinner that is more magic than meal El Gaucho is the place to go. Table side service, flambe desserts, amazing food, and fantastic service. One of the best special occasion places you can go.
Tarik B
Live the place in all aspects, thanks to Rebecca. Order any tablesids.
Trina Olsen
So, so, so disappointed. I've lived out of state for a decade and El Gaucho, Seattle was the one place I HAD to go when I came back. Sigh....what happened?
The level of service used to be unmatched. The knowledge of the experienced servers combined with how attentive everyone was AND the amazing food was a combination that couldn't be matched. That is no longer the case.
Is there a dress code? Why is it okay for cargo shorts, t-shirts, and backward baseball hats to be worn in this establishment? Why aren't men required to remove their hats? Since when is an oversized basketball jersey acceptable attire for El Gaucho? I understand that we're in a more casual society, but please...
Our server not only didn't look profesdional (suit was 2 sizes too big) but also had no idea about how to describe the difference in steak cuts. When asked specifically about a dish we were promised one thing, and it was not delivered (how thick are the asparagus? We don't want them if they're as big as my thumb.)
And finally, the quality of the food was not what it used to be. Where was the melt-in-your-mouth filet? The crabcake was more fill than crab. The risotto was woefully undercooked.
There are times when "okay" food is just fine. But when I'm paying $79 for an 8oz cut, its not one of them.
El Gaucho...you should be doing better.
Mark Boyd
When I asked the locals about this place, they referred to it as "El Gouge-O" because this place definitely ain't cheap. Whether it's reasonable or not is entirely up to your judgement. The wait staff and especially the bar staff are well trained to "sell" you on certain items. I had a $20 shot of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon which, honestly, was a double shot by volume so I really can't complain. I also had a $69 porterhouse steak which was well prepared and quite tasty. I ate the remainder of it the next day waiting in line at the Seattle airport. It was very good, but I really can't say that ANY steak is worth $70. Sorry. And no...I didn't pay for it. I was there on a "business" trip with the owners of the business where I worked at the time. They loved to go to expensive steak houses when they were on "business" (i.e. golfing) trips and I was there, so what the hell? The prices honestly made me feel violated even though I wasn't paying, but the food here was delicious...so, in all fairness, I'll give El Gaucho 4 stars. As long as you know what you're getting into price-wise, you'll probably like it. Excellent food, well trained (but sometimes too salesy) staff, piano bar and an atmosphere like a mob movie where a hit could happen at any moment. lol
Matt Luckett
Go for the atmosphere. The steak was decent but over priced for the quality. I had the baseball steak and colleagues had 2 other types and nobody raved about them from our table. Great service though.
SC mcfadden
Definitely a special occasion spot. Extraordinary prices for good (but not extraordinary) food. Despite reservations, were seated right next to the piano, which made conversation difficult. Service was attentive but a bit slow.
Jose Mercado
Went for happy hour on a Saturday and was very pleased. Very corteous staff and food was excellent. As usual, happy hour is in the bar area only. However, tables in the bar area can be reserved which is unusual and might make it a little dificult to get a spot during happy hour.
Cyndal E
El Gaucho is one of my all-time favorite restaurants! Everything they do is so immaculately thought out and prepared the staff is always phenomenal. My favorite is the escargot and any steak on the menu!!
KeyLo Banks
Great food and service. Be prepared to pay a pretty penny for your experience.
Jarred
This is next level class. The staff does an awesome job of tending to the patrons. So great to have a live pianist playing also. Had a fantastic steak & lobster dish.
Joanna Plattner Mattson
I visited El Gaucho for happy hour. As a pesca-tarian it was never high on my list because I assumed their menu was centered on meat. I am so glad my husband and I gave it a try. The decor is unbelievably different from any restaurant I've ever been to. It is worth a visit just for the ambience alone. Dark lighting, wonderful live piano, and an army of friendly tuxedo-clad staff set the stage for a wonderful meal of creative and delicious happy hour dishes. After looking at El Gaucho's tempting and well-rounded vegetarian menu (well-beyond the typical pasta options we are stuck with at most other restaurants) we'll return on empty-stomaches in order to fully appreciate what I'm sure will be a terrific dinner.
Marina Ivy-Mars
Amazing personalized experience!
Hula Geisha
The steak tartare is some of the best that I have ever had anywhere in the state. And the scallop and shrimp linguine is top tier.
Rebeka Ferreira
Amazing food and service. The "insane truffle soup" lived up to it's name and the crab in the bearnaise sauce was delicious.
Devin Cook
Paid dearly for a burned steak.
Peppercorn steak had a burned crust. Almost inedible. Didn't complain as service was already so slow I didn't need more delays.
Go for the atmosphere, not the food.
Fran Devinney
We had an incredible meal at El Gaucho Restaurant in Seattle. The atmosphere was amazing. The bar was classic. Going out on a limb to say possibly the best dining experience ever.
Marshall Lloyd
Excellent service and food, perfect anniversary date night.
Sara Green
All I can say is wow, the food was great. The only complaint I can have is they put us right next to the kitchen and we were sweating by the end of the meal. If you make a reservation, ask to be seated away from the kitchen, hot fires equals sweaty heads.
Jonathan Menees
Very romantic. Nice dim lightning. Beautiful piano. Lovely staff. Amazing food. Took my fiance on a date and they treated us very well!
Megan Sorel
Best steak I've had and wonderful atmosphere. The staff was wonderful as well.
Amy H
A Seattle Icon, love the personal attention and great service without being pretentious... Delicious food, wine and cocktails. If you go, someone in your party needs to order one of the "tableside" menu items like the Flaming Sword Brochette of Tenderloin or Bananas Foster for the full experience.
Rick Swanson
Extraordinary Service! Unbelievably fantastic food! Unremitting kindness and attention to your needs. Planning next dinner there!
David Beginski
My wife and I went for our annivesry. We felt we had wonderful service, food, and drink. The experience was pricey, but worth it. We can't wait to do it again. The steak is worth it.
Michelle peacelovejoy
Lovely dinner experience two nights in a row.
Derek T
Great Holiday meal options! Well organized, but pickup can be a bit chaotic for the major events. But the food is what counts, and they score there!
Chris P
Unbelievable steak, very accommodating, lovely atmosphere. Also no apparent dress code which is nice if you're coming straight from work.
Curtis Nelson
Very good happy hour. Always impeccable service.
I've loved El Gaucho since 1983.
Ryan Guest
Best steak in Seattle in my opinion, and I've had a lot... wicked shrimp, tableside Caesar, filet mignon, and bananas foster = winning combination. It's crazy expensive, so be ready to lay down minimum $100 per person to do it right!
Ray Rebello
There were four of us dining together. We all agreed that the good was wonderful and the service excellent. Highly recommend it.
Keith Olson
Great place to celebrate a special occassion. Best steaks in Seattle. Wonderful atmosphere with live piano each evening.
Pete P
El Gaucho used to be one our favorite steak houses in Seattle! Not sure it's because of Covid or them moving from the old location but it's not near what it was! I hope they go back to where they were soon.
corbin talley
The food was amazing. Todd was great. We had a really enjoyable evening. Go for the Tomahawk Ribeye.
lupe garza
The staff n food are amazing!!!!
Ian E
Excellent Food with extremely helpful staff. Like any 5 star restaurant, it is quite expensive. However the service and food could be worth it! Everything is cooked to perfection and many dishes are prepared and plated table side.
Mark Harris
Whether you're coming from the ballet or needing a nightcap after Comic-Con, this piace is the destination. Outstanding decor and superb service always. Come for the Sticky Thai Ribs and Diablo shrimp at bar...or splurge on their exceptional steak dinners. El Gaucho is the spot!
Matt Kowalenko
Amazing food, it is pricey, but the food was so delicious it didn't matter.
I will come back next time I'm in town
John L
Absolutely the best happy hour burger in town! Wow! The ambiance is for lovers of tableside dining. The staff is professional and very friendly. Try the dessert menu!
Perry Masonic
Old school steak house. I kept expecting Louis Prima or Frank Sinatra to walk in. Dinner for four here costs about as much a all inclusive vacation week in the Dominican Republic. They know how to cook meat. But bring an extra credit card because you will max out your limit.
Daniela Bailey
I like El Gaucho. I have been here a couple of times and the food has not disappointed me. I just feel they need to provide better service, idk, it is a bit too rehearsed for my taste.
Great happy hour.
Dan Sundgren
Close your eyes and picture the perfect steak house experience. Perfect service, incredible food and james bond cool atmosphere. The Gauch is all that and a can of corn, speaking of. Order the corn!!!
Bruce Bailey
1950s Steak HOuse all the way. Nice ambiance and excellent food. I did feel it was a little over priced, but it was an exceptional treat. I think you pay for the experience as much as the foo.
C M
Fantastic, upscale steakhouse in the heart of downtown Seattle.
Gabriela Trejo
I agree - the service is impeccable. The food is... alright. We have been using a sois vide over the last couple of months, so I’m spoiled in that I don’t need to pay $75 for a steak that tastes better at home. I have been here a few times, and I’ve decided that what you are buying is service and ambiance.
Gerry Zamora
The steak El Gaucho was the star of the show, the lobster was good as well. Service was great food was great atmosphere was great overall great spot for food and drinks. I will be back!
Franco LeSinge
Tasty but wildly over priced, you almost pay a premium for being allowed entrance. Expect a couple of cocktails, starters and a burger to set you back nearly $200. I expect the price is to keep the clientele to a specific breed.
Ben Martin
Favorite since 1999. Still amazing food and spectacular service. Great to see a place that understands how to create an experience that leaves a lasting impression on guests.
aleph mem
I was a bit under dressed, but they didn't hold it against me! Food was fantastic!
Jeff East
Great meal at the bar. Very friendly and efficient service. Large list of wines by the glass, plus super cocktails. Loads of fun.
Edgar Vega
Food and staff were phenomenal. They put an automatic 20% gratuity, due to benefits provided to the staff, which makes you feel terrible for not leaving a tip, but also terrible when you feel you end up paying $100 on a “tip.”
Edward m Blaine
El Gaucho remains the classic swank Seattle haunt to (not) see and (not) be seen. Bar staff is always top shelf.
Rowland Hill
One of the best happy hours in Seattle. A very elegant and expensive restaurant, the happy hour is an incredible bargain. The $15 steak sandwich basically has a whole steak in it!
Anthony Frorenza
A truly amazing experience with the best customer service you could want. I highly recommend the lamb rack. Honestly, you won't go wrong with anything they put out on the table.
Craig Bradford
Unbelievable meal! I had the baseball cut top sirloin. For wine lovers they have a huge selection to choose from and the atmosphere is excellent. Could recommend highly enough.
Suphatra Rufo
Great happy hour and delicious steak!
John Kueber
The new location is amazing, has all the class of the old but with some amazing modern touches.
Matt Daniel
A solid choice for more upscale dining that never dissapoints. The large bar is outstanding and serves a unique barrel aged whiskey.
Samuel Haffey
It's not cheap but in this case you do get what you pay for.
RyBo2012
So you fancy huh!! And worth it!! Caesar Salad with handcrafted dressing right at the table, 28 day dry-aged-US Prime Chateaubriand for two = outstanding; mushroom risotto, YES PLEASE!!! Don't even get me started on the in house mix-ologist. Live music and courtesy shuttle back to the hotel to seal the deal!! Ummm yeah!! Okay!!!
Katie Morgan
El Gaucho is a Northwest mainstay for steak. Their happy hour is amazing--great food selection and of course, good wine. This is a great place to go before or after catching a movie directly downstairs from the restaurant at The Big Picture.
jamie osborne
We love this place! Third time staying here, and they always treat us like family. The staff are always so kind, and the retro 50's decor is warm, tasteful, and timeless.
Mason Parker
Fun place. Our group of 6 was seated in the bar area right away. The steak was great and our server Chaz was attentive and entertaining!
Katharine Bernstein
Great food and drinks. Really cool atmosphere. Great staff. It is not cheap (my seafood salad was $26) but it was a-maz-ing!
Hilary Gumorry
El gaucho has Excellent service . The food is really good totally worth the price. The desserts are delicious and the place is beautiful. The only issue is the valet parking.
Jeff Mars
Amazing! One of the best dinner experiences we have ever had! Service 5 stars! Food 5 stars! Ambiance 5 stars!
Mike Rogers
Fantastic food and service. The new location is great. I had the bone in rib eye. It was awesome 👌 …
Scott Whitfield
I went to this place over 10 years ago and still remember it being one of the best steaks in my life. I'm coming back in a few weeks, and you *KNOW* I'm coming to El Gaucho. Let's see if it is a fabulous an experience as I recall.
Wanlapa Roobsoong
The fish and salad are very tasty.
Outdoor World
Great food and staff here. We had a great time celebrating birthday here.
Pat Greer
Phenomenal food and service. The speak easy style ambiance added to a great experience. On the higher price side, but was to be expected and was absolutely worth it.
Jon Reynolds
Steak was ok. Place looks cool inside, very big and open. Service is great too. 4 star because of the food being aight and pricey.
Robert Fertig
Absolutely amazing. The chocolate ganache is to die for. And the entrees were pretty darn good. Great for large private party or a really nice date restaurant.
Lori Butler
Our first experience with EG was back in 1982, my husband and I were on our first honeymoon and traveled on the old Marguerite from Victoria, Canada to Seattle for a few days before we left for Hawaii. We asked at our hotel the Mayflower (which is still a favourite of ours) for a good steak house within walking distance. They recommended EG and we've never looked back. Whenever we travel to Seattle, we ALWAYS have a fabulous evening there. After 33 years of marriage, we still rave about this place, we are going back there next week.
Tom Jacobsen
Very good, great service, excellent quality food. Would recommend on any trip to Seattle.
Bruce Beauchamp
Fabulous steak (filet mignon), one the best I have had in a long time. The house red wine was excellent too. I will return again.
Michelle Eng
Came here for restaurant week and the food did not disappoint. While we were about to leave a jazz trio started playing too. I wish we stayed longer to listen more.
Limor Gavish
Been here for restaurant week. Took the green salad, the fillet medallions and for dessert the chocolate genache. Everything was fabulous and the service was pleasant.
Hman Lazz
OMG so so good and the service is bar none you have to try it
Christina Perez
Great experience, food was worth the money.
Trip Edgerton
Classy, expensive, special occasion dining, but really special. Once in a while, if you can afford it, you should treat yourself. Check the menu online before you make reservations.
Kaimi Sinclair
The service and food were amazing! It was the best steak in Seattle!
B Dugan
Expensive but it's the best steak I've ever eaten. The Chateaubriand for two is the specialty. Have tableside-made Caesar salads. Splendid.
Gabriel Tellez
Absolutely love this place. The food...the drinks...the ambiance. Everything is incredible. Highly recommend making this a stop on your visit to Seattle. Make sure you have an Old Fashioned.
Mac Laws
There is a woman constantly smoking just feet away from the door sitting in a walker, she's not old and lives next door. The cigarette stench is a detriment and off putting, I would ask her to leave but she's on El Gaucho property. I really wish they would make her go away, she's dirty and smelly right by the primo steak restaurant of Seattle, not a great image!
Joy Hawkins
Really great service and the atmosphere here was really great. The steak was a little to salty for me but the sides we ordered were all amazing.
Andrew Nalin
Our first time at the new location did not disappoint. Food was great, service was perfect as always!
Danielle Sherzer
Everything about this place was wonderful! Amazing service and the food was out of this world! What a great place to have a birthday dinner. Couldn't have asked for anything better.
S Mad
Loved this place. There was a tiny mishap with getting a seat at first but the front desk made it right immediately and we were well taken care of thanks!
Douglas Gummere
Great food. Well worth the price.
Especially Great for a Date Night with a friend. Cozy tables, premium service, and excellent food, at reasonable prices.
Patrick Ludwig
Great food, nice atmosphere. Formal. When we were there they were playing live music.
Tonya Graves
The dining experience here was awesome. The food is superb and the dessert list is exceptional. Highly recommend!
Jeongdae Lee (Neo Lee)
Nice performance for banana desserts. We should be eat this.
Kahealani
The wine selection is vast and the captain helped us select the perfect one, the filet mignon melted in my mouth, macaroni and cheese was also delicious, and the service was amazing.
S Truswell
El Gaucho is my favorite steak in Seattle area. Always amazing service and excellent food.
Alison Zook
My friend Dan went there for the second time and it made my other friend Dave REALLY mad😡. I'm not saying that I like to see Dave angry but I do enjoy when he is very passionate about something like Dan's boring Facebook posts. So ispo facto I love this place like I love Dan's post about it! …
Jon Gilmore Jr.
I have eaten meals here, had happy hour here, and watched movies at their Big Picture theater. This place does everything very well.... The happy hour is a good value too!
Raphael Puletz
Delectable morsals and the service was outstanding! Fancy, sophisticated, and relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic date or work party.
Ann Sardina
Service was great, nice showy tableside cooking, but food is very expensive and nothing special. Out of 4 diners only 1 thought their food was great.
Terry M
This restaurant is elegant times 10. The food and atmosphere are outstanding. The artistry of the wait staff is what makes the experience, though.
