Reviews of Both Ways Cafe
Quite an adorable place. Was surprised at a 45 minute wait for two scrambles in a 10-top restaurant where half the building is kitchen, but those scrambles were excellent and were well worth the wait. Baked goods were excellent; it's been decades since I had white bread that actually tasted like bread. We'll be back in the future to try more things.
This place is so great! A classic neighborhood joint with a ton of character. All the staff were extremely friendly. The coffee was hot and always flowing. And the FOOD! It was shockingly good. Has to be one of my favorite traditional breakfasts in town. Bonus points for letting us sit outside with our dogs!
Drove for breakfast, stayed for the community shopping. What a quaint little area, with the best breakfast spot. We waited about 20 minutes for inside seating, and they were very honest about order time (with to go orders and a small kitchen) but it was worth the wait. The prices were great, the coffee was hot and good, the atmosphere was fun *very Seattle* art on the walls open kitchen, super fun staff (the waitress with the fun nails awesomely helpful)
We had the biscuits and gravy, ham and swiss omelet, and fancy potatoes. All Delicious!
Cool and cozy spot with both outdoor and indoor seating. We went on a Saturday so was in a queue for about 20 mins. The staff is super friendly and they even gave us a complimentary side of fruits coz we had to wait a while before our server made contact. It was very busy so service was a bit slow. I took the dressed home fries with bacon and a side of chicken sausage and it was really good. Add a side of egg and u have a perfect meal. My wife took the two eggs breakfast with biscuit and chicken sausage which was also very good. I wanted to try the cinnamon bun but they had run out of it. I will definitely recommend this place as their food is great.
Stopped at Both Ways Cafe on my way back from SEATAC airport. What a lovely surprise! This is a quaint, neighborhood cafe. Quirky decor and relaxed vibe. I ordered the veggie omelet and added ham. Of course I started with a cinnamon roll! Everything is housemade and the bread is amazing! This place did not disappoint.
This tiny place packs a punch! I got the two eggs and sausage plate plus the biscuit and potatoes. The potatoes were yummy, the eggs were perfectly cooked, but the stand out of this lunch was the biscuit, hands-down. Crispy, fluffy, and big enough that I broke it into thirds, this was one of the best buttermilk biscuits I have ever had.
Parking and seating are both limited, and the bathroom's small enough I had to turn sideways to get down it, but the food was worth every effort. Plus, the wait staff is really sweet. Grab some muffins to go, too!
Stopped in for some breakfast and a coffee, cozy little atmosphere, but kind of cramped and hectic. I know I shouldn’t let it detract from the review, but it’s hard to relax in a small space when there’s two small toddlers making ear piercing screeches at random intervals. I’m sure it would have been much cozier without that. But the food was pretty good, I had French toast, so nothing special, but I wish they offered real maple syrup instead of the fake stuff. Coffee was satisfying, and overall I would say it was a positive experience. Staff was nice despite being busy, and the food was relatively cheap (for Seattle), and I was in and out of there in about half an hour or so.
Delicious! I ordered their veggie omelet with a biscuit and an oat milk latte. I would come back just for the biscuit 😁 I came by on a sunshine filled day, so I got to enjoy sitting outside too!
Both Ways Cafe is a neighborhood favorite. Over the many years that we have been eating here the service is always excellent - somehow they always hire charismatic people that are really good at their jobs.
One thing the Both Ways does better than anybody is biscuits; they are dangerously delicious. We also love the potatoes with cheese and and egg on top (who wouldn't?) and my kids like their oatmeal. Their soups and quiches are also winners. When you add in outdoor seating and being able to get food to go, you cannot go wrong getting your breakfast or lunch here.
This is my favorite breakfast spot in Columbia City area, and the staff are very attentive and friendly, as well as explaining the menu as well. The eggs are done so perfectly and the coffee is awesome!
This place is a hidden gem in Seattle. My family and I went for brunch during the weekday and it wasn't to busy. We had the Northwest Scramble, French Toast and Hungarian Stew. The stew was delicious. It took me back to my childhood! The French Toast was made with bread that they make in house and the Northwest Scramble was amazing. The scramble was light but came with one an amazing biscuit. These biscuits are unlike any other, super flavorful, crunchy but soft and flaky. I can't wait to come back again!
I mean… need i say more? Good sandwich, wish the fruit wasn’t $8 but still fresh and tasty! The coffee is 10/10
This place has easily turned into my favorite breakfast place in Seattle! The food is great, service is fast, and the prices aren't too high. The staff is also super nice and personable, especially Sam, who makes a great mocha. Highly recommend giving this place a try if you haven't already 👍👍 …
Great little neighborhood breakfast/brunch spot. The food is always delicious and out server was so kind!! Good amount of outdoor seating as well.
This place feels so homey inside and out! I love the neighborhood positive & friendly vibes and the food is always on point. When they give you fresh fruit, it is actually delicious fresh fruit instead of canned!! I love their biscuits and jam! So yummy! The staff are always really nice!
Little neighborhood restaurant with a good vibe. The breakfast was served piping hot. Friendly service. I would recommend this place for a good breakfast and fresh pastries.
Northwest Scramble was a bit over cooked and had an unpleasant fishy smell. Maybe it was just a bad day, since I've ready many positive reviews for it. Potatoes looked great but were lacking some crispness. Biscuit was good!
The French toast I heard was not hot enough when it was served (I could see that the butter wasnt melting well), and the inside of one of the slices was very soggy.
I like Both Ways. It's a nice compromise between affordability, popularity and location. There are other, maybe better known breakfast locations nearby, but you can't beat Both Ways if you're looking for a chill place to grab brunch. I also really like sitting outside and enjoying the nice summer weather.
Awesome staff, food was delicious. Food wait time was what you expect for a high rated breakfast place on a Satueday at 11am but very reasonable. Pricing was awesome and atmosphere was great. Delicious place to visit and highly recommended!
Great breakfast spot! Got an omelette and the potatoes were soooo good. Kind of a small place but would definitely go again!
The wait from ordering to serving seemed a bit long.
One dish arrived hot, the other not so much.
Added sausage to an order and the $2 charge for two small links (about an ounce+ total was excessive).
The biscuits! They were very tasty. The stew was rich. I liked the staff and the decor and it's certainly on a picturesque corner. There's parking in the back and a comfortable local clientele, you can tell because the waitresses greeted everyone by their names.
The food is sooo good here. I had the Northwest Scramble(Salmon) with grits, homemade biscuit and a grapefruit mimosa. I was so busy eyeballing all the delicious plates being delivered to the other patrons I could hardly concentrate on my own food which was excellent. I went during Sunday brunch time hours but the small wait was definitely worth it. Great service and reasonable prices. I'll be back again soon.
I had the breakfast burrito with salmon and it was amazing must try.
Stopped by after a walk for a pastry and an iced latte for take out. Food here has always been good and the scone didn't disappoint. The iced latte was so strong I couldn't drink it. Not sure if it was an iced coffee or an iced latte. I'd skip the drink next time.
I must have breakfast here three times a week. Yummy breakfast biscuits and don't forget the sticky bun
Provided us with coffee while waiting for a table. Never enjoyed that amenity before. Exemplary customer service.
Cool small neighborhood place to meet friends and dine.
Tasty food.
Polite service (with one hick up which was corrected)
Tried to go but it was too cold to sit outside and the line was long. People around us all raved about how good the food is, so it's on our future list.
This place was worth the wait!, Small but delicious food, pleasant staff and a very friendly environment to eat at, we will be back for sure.
Absolutely the best breakfast food I've had. Between the mochas being foamy and creamy, the omelet my partner got melting in her mouth and the burrito I got so packed with flavor Ramsey wouldn't put it down. Would reccomend to anyone and everyone.
My boyfriend introduced me to this place. The food is really good. Seriously delicious!!! I was driving 25 minutes every morning for like 2 months in a row just because they were so dang good lol.
Amazing food and people. Definitely try the biscuits. Be ready to relax and enjoy the small diner environment. My favorite breakfast spot in the area :)
Great neighborhood diner! Staff is so nice, everything we ate was delicious, coffee is great. Powder milk biscuits best I’ve had in years! Will be back on a regular basis.
I really want to sit down here and order their brunch but have had really great experiences so far just getting their cookies, coffee and biscuits to go! I really appreciated their employee giving our dog her own mini biscuit piece- that was super thoughtful and sweet- and I am sure my dog appreciated it also :)
We love coming here. Out of all the times we can in we had one time where there was a issue with my husband's potatoes. Every since then they've went above an beyond making sure things are perfect for us. The wait staff is excellent food is delicious. What more can you ask for?
Lovely breakfast, charming staff. Highly recommended.
We love the food here (especially the biscuits) but the service is always a little slow. If you're not in a rush, this is a great brunch spot!
Best breakfast I’ve had in quite a while. The customer service was personal.
Awesome biscuits and baked goods and great service.
Oh baby, get yourself a sticky bun. Come for the ambiance and the food. Stick to the non-espresso based coffees here and you'll be perfectly content and might never leave. An absolute local favorite.
Their gravy is gross which is sad because their biscuits were so good.
I watched two women not get their order until after mine even though they ordered before me and someone else. That was pretty sus.
Also, the cookies I got from there were suspiciously hard and kind stale tasting.
Okay, nice people, and a close walk to watch the seattle air show... don't pay for air show... stop at this place eat and watch 😀 …
What a great stop on my five mile walk, and I needed it to counteract the biscuits and gravy, yum! I had to then avoid the pastries at the front but the groomsmen staff was attentive and the service great (the champagne helped too).
A long-running standout breakfast spot in south Seattle. Great food, attentive staff, charming atmosphere. Quite possibly Seattle's best biscuit. I recommend the Northwest Scramble. The place is small and popular, so prepare to wait on weekends.
Shortly after my wife had our first child, I started coming to Both Ways to get us their delicious Biscuit & Egg sandwiches, to give us a little breathing room through a delicious meal we didn't have to prepare. Well, two years later, and I've become an absolute regular, popping in almost every weekend for those amazing sandwiches. The staff is unbelievably friendly, the location adorable and homey, and the food unpretentious and absolutely perfect. The buttermilk biscuits and other baked goods are especially great. I hope that Both Ways remains a fixture in our weekend breakfasts and brunches for years to come.
Flavor potatoes, delicious egg breakfast burrito, and hot sauce that packs both heat and flavor. I'd certainly make the journey to stop by again. Also, some covered outdoor seating. Some is uncovered, too.
Breakfast with my wife (no kids!) after visiting the Seattle Temple. We did a random search and found this gem. The place is cozy and warm. Dog friendly. Basic breakfast meals offered. Can't go wrong with grits and biscuits as sides. I got eggs and bacon and my wife the frittatas. Fast service (once we sat down). Affable with a good vibe. Noise level was acceptable. Quarters were tight tho but again, not uncomfortable. Overall, loved it.
I forgot to take a photo, If was bomb (urban for very good 😎) I had the Seattle Scramble with the smoked King Salmon & other veggie delights. The homemade biscuit was nice and fluffy I said starting today no meat for 30 days so it was perfect. Super friendly staff and cool vibes I’ll be back. …
The food at Both Ways is prepared in the most tastiest way! They put a lot of soul into there cooking, and this place is way better in comparison to Geraldine's in the local area. I had the veggie scramble which had the right amount of portions on the plate and the cheddar cheese and chive biscuit was phenomenal. I would recommend anyone to this place for bunch!
So good.. Grits, crispy bacon, and salmon scramble. Small and friendly.
Had NW Salmon Scramble today.
Great food, very affordable, cute place, and excellent staff :)
Anything from the bakery case is always delicious. The biscuits are consistently fresh and delicious. No one else in Seattle makes a biscuit, each morning, as delicious as Both Ways. We have eaten here for years and every time we get our plates we think "that's not a lot" and then half way through our food "it's too much food" then it turns into "oh I ate too much food anyways!!" Plenty of selection for vegetarians. It is a busy place, but when it's nice outside think about getting yourself a 'to go' order and taking it to a local park - Genesee Playfield, Mt. Baker Boat Launch, Seward Park are all close.
Small, very Homey - excellent food! Great prices and pretty huge portions. Amanda was our server and she was so cool! Great neighborhood 'breakfast restaurant' that also serves lunch. Will come back every time I'm close - and ask for Amanda! Nice place
Great service and food, however one of the servers that was refilling waters/coffee gave us pretty bad attitude towards/about our dogs a couple times. Definitely soiled my mood at the end of our visit, but otherwise was pretty satisfied.
A neighborhood cafe next door to the neighborhood pizza joint. They are open for breakfast and lunch and serve breakfast all day. My weekend go to for weekend breakfast. Every weekend. The food is fresh homemade and their biscuits are my absolute favorite. It is a family place and there is some seating outside.
Best breakfast in Seattle. Yep, I am confidently saying this. Quality food that has inspired our homemade breakfasts ever since we left Seattle recently. Perfect service, not overly intrusive (I'm British so that's how I roll) and yet still had some really interesting conversations with the staff. Desperately trying to find the equivalent in Tacoma now.
Arrived around 10AM on a Saturday this past weekend (end of April) and waited ~40 minutes for a four top. I think the wait time was exacerbated by a medium size group (~6 - 8 people) who stayed well after they were finished eating, simply conversing. In a joint this small, a group of that size consumes a significant proportion of the seating.
Although it was a bit too cold and drizzly, it appears that they have ~5 picnic tables for outdoor seating that could also be used when the weather permits.
All four people in our group really enjoyed the food. My wife also really enjoyed her pomegranate mimosa. I finished off my daughter's unfinished oatmeal and I enjoyed it (it was topped with brown sugar, banana slices and almonds).
Baby/kid friendly (offer half portions of regular menu items and have high-chairs available).
Only parking available is street parking, but open spots were abundant when we arrived.
Great place for breakfast, lunch, and pastries. Since they're only open until 3:00, breakfast and pastries and lunch are all you can get here. They are busy, so not really quick service. But the food is delicious and the staff very nice. So sit back, read the paper or play with your phone until the food comes. You will enjoy!
One of my favorite spots in the area - great food and great price - and not yet too popular to enjoy
Great brunch food and just a short stroll from the water.
They have lovely thick and slightly crispy French toast along with a good omelette selection.
The ambience is inclusive and cozy, the perfect cafe vibe!
Superb breakfast spot! Candice and Sam and all the staff are just really good folk - the kind of people who know your name, your drink, and make it easy to be stoked to see them when you come through the door. Oh yeah, the food kicks ass, too!
Friendly staff and delicious food! I will definitely be back.
It has the feel of stopping by someone’s house for a home cooked meal. The staff is friendly. The service is good. The food is delicious. My favorites are the stew, soup of the day, or the breakfast salad. Homemade biscuits and white or honey wheat bread are a must try.
Cozy cafe, with delicious food! Small seating area inside, has a handful of tables available outside too with waiter service. There was a vegan option-tofu scramble, which is hands down my favorite vegan breakfast in town. Highly reccomend!!!
Cosy cafe with a veggie vibe but all tastes are catered for with bacon thru tofu. I enjoyed the salmon omelette. Diverse clientele reflecting its location. Good food, good service, be prepared to wait a while at peak brunch hours.
Nice friendly service in a small space. I rated my food a 5 and my wife said 3. The northwest omelet was my choice and fantastic, my wife had the French toast. Good coffee too.
Super cozy neighborhood spot with friendly and attentive service.
The biscuits are really really good! I really like their NW Scramble--smoked salmon and little chunks of cream cheese in my eggs? Yes, please!
Love this place for its coziness and its coffee. Had a bowl of oatmeal well stocked with dates, raisins, bananas and roasted almonds. I prefer my oatmeal a little more crunchy, but the bowl was still quite satisfying. One of my favorite places.
Love the people. The food is excellent. I try to eat here once a week. The same everytime; 2 eggs over easy, bacon, fruit and a gargantuan muffin... Perfection!
Staff was super friendly and helpful. The biscuit are big and tasty. I wished the menu had more option other then breakfast and cold sandwiches or salads for lunch. My food arrived cold but I'd go back.
I got the Spanish Tortilla with a biscuit. It was similar to an omlett. It was tasty and filling. The jam on the biscuit was good too. The atmosphere was nice too - kind of artsy and unique, also pretty quiet at 8am on a weekday.
Not cheap.
My favorite breakfast joint in South Seattle. Lovely to have this place in walking distance from home. Consistently great service and food.
I had the Northwest Scramble with Home Fries and a Biscuit. HOLY mamma jamma. The scramble was velvety smooth and delicious, the home fries had good texture and seasoning, and OMG I need to know what they did to make those biscuits.
LOVE this place! Good, hearty, homemade food. The biscuits are hot and fresh and their home style potatoes are amazing! They also have a small patio :)
Such friendly staff and dog friendly!! They have great homemade biscuits for all our doggy companions! Breakfast is awesome too!
Both Ways is a nice alternative when the wait time at Geraldine's is too long for you. They have friendly, casual service and really delicious biscuits. There's definitely a comfy neighborhood feel to the place. The location is convenient to the lake and the dog park.
It can be busy on Saturday and Sunday so expect a wait, but it's worth it. MUST GET THE BISCUIT! All of the food here is good but the biscuit is phenomenal. It's a small place so be prepared to get close :) theirs hours are limited for breakfast and lunch only
Coffee is always fresh and although it's the only menu item I ordered, the northwest scramble is amazing. Def try this place out if your in the mood for some great breakfast food.
Excellent neighborhood breakfast/brunch restaurant. Try the daily special (it's always enticing) and the cheddar-chive biscuits. If it's warm enough, sitting outside (and being near the lake) is amazing.
One of the tastiest Bfast spots in all of Seattle. Can’t get a more local neighborhood feel. Love it.
WonderWoman and SuperMan had a super..wonder. breakfast.
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your day SP/FG
Local bakery and restaurant. Really nice to walk to while visiting our daughter. Had a fabulous breakfast on Sunday and didn't have to wait too long for a table. Work the trip if you're in the area.
Went here for breakfast. Great food. It was busy so everything was a little slow but that's to be expected when the restaurant is packed. Get the biscuits, they're life changing.
This place has the best biscuits and gravy in Seattle. Everything else is superb too, but their biscuits and gravy is their forte. It does get very busy so expect to wait. But the wait is worth it.
The breakfast burrito was phenomenal. They do indoor dining and can bring your food to your car.. immtelling you there cooks work Magic!!!
Used to go as a child ten years ago, loved it then, loved it when I visited again now. Ham and swiss omelette is amazing.
Amazing! A friend recommended the cafe to us and it was absolutely worth it. The eggs and biscuit were so fluffy and tasty and the coffee was awesome too. Love it
We visited a few weeks ago. Loved the Spinach Havarti Scramble, biscuits, roasted potatoes, and coffee!
One of my favorite local cafes. Good food, fantastic service and friendly community. Love their biscuits and the Northwest scramble!
I'm definitely Ave meat person, but this place serves one of the best veggie grilled sandwiches I have ever tasted.
Great local place, amazing food made with high quality ingrediants and lots of old charm.
What can I say? Both ways Cafe has the best breakfast in the South End. Walk down by the lake after breakfast. Has excellent customer service. Great coffee!
Our goto weekend breakfast place. Just a short walk over the ridge. Friendly staff. Fresh homemade pastries. Delicious breakfasts. About as local as you can get.
Another favorite spots in the rainier beach area. Very compact but worth the wait. Try the homemade biscuits they are amazing. The coffee is spot on
The food was pretty terrible, I could barely finish my plate, and the place was stuffed with tables too close together, to the point that it is hard to get in and out of places. On a good note, the staff was very nice and attentive.
Cute little cafe, perfect for a quick breakfast. Bring your furry friend and sit on the outdoor tables and they'll give the pup free homemade dog biscuits 🙂 …
Wonderful local breakfast place. Amazing goods baked in house (try their biscuits!) and yummy home fries.
Small cozy place. Amazing portions will call for reservations next time i show up with 4 or more people. But staff was very accommodating.
The staff and food are wonderful. I had the breakfast burrito and it was delicious.
Great scratch made food and baked goods. Fun waiters/great people/good vibes. I love this local eatery
We were a group of seven. Busy Monday at lunch time. Excellent food and great staff. Looking forward to our next visit.
Loved it! Quaint, little eatery nestled in the Seward Park area of Seattle. Great food, great service!
Had brunch here today after church, and both Amanda and Candice we're great serving us. The food was excellent!
I love this place. Been here several times. Potatoes, biscuits and omelettes are all delicious. Coffee there is good too.
Outstanding breakfast! The spinach havarti scramble and fresh biscuits were perfect
Delicious little gem. Small space but staff are friendly and food is worth the wait. Go early or closer to noon to beat the crowds
SO GOOD. Kind of pricey but it was worth it. Had to eat outside but it was awesome, food was good, fresh air was nice.
Good place for simple breakfast! Good service. Excellent prices. Recommend it!
It's a great spot for breakfast and lunch with nice folks working there. Really outstanding bakery and outside seating with abundant sunshine on nice days.
Excellent food, service and environment. The omelet we ordered was fantastic and the biscuits with homemade jam are to die for.
Yeah this place was great I had breakfast there and it was delicious the service was quick and friendly the prices were right I would highly recommend it
Seating is not great but the food was delicious. Very crowded inside. Great customer service and very friendly staff. Only reason not 5 stars is the seating.
Their french toast is EVERYTHING!! 🔥🔥🤤 I would eat here ANYTIME! Yes please and thank you...😍
The food from Both Ways Cafe is delicious. I had the Northwestern Scramble as it was marked a favorite. Did not disappoint.
Best Denver Omelet I have ever had!! Biscuits on are point! Loved the food and the atmosphere.
Nice local restaurant with ample outdoor seating. Good brunch menu and attentive staff.
No bells and whistles; just feel-good breakfast food in a casual and crowded somewhat zappy place. I support upgrading name to Three Ways Cafe.
Amazing breakfast Sammy a+ would recommend :)
Biscuits and gravy were the winner but the dressed potatoes were pretty good as well
Picked up two coffees and a cheddar biscuit. As always, it was tasty.
Outside breakfast and lunch. Closes at 3. Home cooked good stuff. Take home daily offering of quiche or stew for dinner!
Great food. Home made fluffy and flavorful bisquits. Excellent service. Good prices.
Breakfast burrito 🌯 is the truth 😋 👌 …
My favorite breakfast in Seattle
Nice locally-operated spot, usually not too crowded during the weekdays. The dressed home fries are my favorite
Ideal place for breakfast. Honest tasty food, home baked goods, tasteful decoration and friendly service
Excellent food and service. Amazing baked goods. Real local spot.
Brunch is so good, all the classics done really well! Very nice staff and excellent baked goods!
The food's always good and they've got the take out thing down. Calling ahead is the best!
Awesome breakfast and lunch stop - incredible baked goods, cozy atmosphere, and home cooking done right.
Yum yum good vibes great bisquits, decent coffee. Had to sit with two strangers but got a seat right away as a result.
One of my favorite spots for breakfast. Friendly people and great food.
Great food, mellow homey feel, nice staff. Biscuits and gravy. The end.
My favorite brunch spot. Kid and queer friendly. Great food, good vibe.
"That was the best biscuit I have ever had" .. Said my mom this morning at breakfast. Very good food, thanks!
Great wait staff. Very accommodating. Food was reasonably priced and tasted great.
Absolutely delicious! A classic neighborhood cafe with friendly service and delicious food.

Came here with my family after they attended Sunday service. Lovely environment. The food was great and the service was very accommodating for all seven of us. We sat outside at a picnic table. It wasn't a perfect fit, but we made it work. I'm glad we went here. I would recommend it again, but perhaps better for smaller groups.
Excellent biscuits. Open early.
Skip potatoes and they may offer fruit. The pastry case moved out of the window recently for more light.
They DO run out of things, so, plan ahead. Decent outdoor seating.
Parking can be a challenge, but within a short walk.
(Translation) Best breakfast ever. The omelet with salmon was delicious. The biscuits are also crispy and delicious, so I want you to choose biscuits for breakfast. Coffee is also very good. The inside of the store is also comfortable.
