Reviews of Barrio Mexican Kitchen & Bar
José Luis Fausto Martinez
Attentive service with a very hip decor and delicious Mexican food. The waitress attending us was very kind and checking in at a good pace. The dishes were delicious and perfect for sharing. The bloody Mary’s were delicious. We chose the patio seating which was really nice for a sunny morning. Definitely would come back again.

came here for happy hour on a Monday and got seated right away. I loved the ambiance and the vibe of this place. The drinks were tasty - I got the blood orange and my friend got the green chile- pineapple mule and I also got the classic nachos it was huge! (probably could've fed 3-4 people or depends on how hungry you are) highly recommend 10/10 for the portion and it was delicious.
overall, the service was great and it was kinda pricey for what the food is even for happy hour so be prepared but the place is definitely more for the vibe/ experience.

Great food, excellent vibes. We came here with 7 people and easily got seated indoors on a Thursday night without a reservation (always appreciated!).
The drinks were divine and the food came in decent portions and was flavorful. I would’ve taken more photos but was preoccupied with the company present. Loved it overall! It was also situated close to other bars, which is fun for post-dinner!

This is a great little restaurant with a great atmosphere. I really enjoyed the food and drinks here. I would recommend checking this place out if you are in the mood for margaritas and tacos:-)
Sriram Kumar
It’s the typical extra priced brunch place. The food is good, nothing great. It was easy to get a table on a Saturday. But the service was slow even with a lot of empty tables.

We went at closing time and they were nice to accommodate us. The place looked nice and clean with friendly staff. The food had good portion and tasted good. I took the El bowl with grilled chicken and my friend took the beef enchiladas. The grilled chicken was very flavourful with a nice spicy after taste. They also have a giant serving of the nachos. Was not expecting that to be so big.
Zoshua Colah
Have the Nachos. They are amazing in flavor, huge in portion, and can fill a party of 3 easily.
I've also had the rice, beans, and cauliflower tacos, but they are nothing to rave about.
It's a little too dimly lit for me, which makes me a little sleepy, but I guess that is the mood they are going for.
Thang Phu
Still pretty tasty but I liked the fried chicken tacos I had 6 months ago better. The meat was cut into smaller chunks which had more breading and crisp and easier to eat as opposed to a gigantic slab of fried chicken on my tacos. Ok, but I didn't like the new changes. Also, I found the tacos to be too wet, it leaks out and becomes mushy from the first bite. Still the flavors were there and it wasn't bad, so 4 stars.

This place is great for some different kind of Mexican food. Food is amazing and ambience is great. The mimosas are great, right from freshly squeezed oranges.
Luis Medrano
In average this restaurant has close to authentic Mexican food and tortillas. I've tried the chipotle chicken enchiladas and some of the taco options they have. Amongst those options, I would highly recommend to get the chorizo tacos and the pastor tacos. They are close to what you would get in Mexico
Ithomiid Inc.
Happy hour 4 to 5 on weekdays and 3 to 5 on the weekends. Taco tequila tacate for 11 bucks. What a deal! Must be vaccinated to eat indoors. plenty of patio space too. Service was great. Ive been here before and tried the bahn mi taco, but was a bit disappointed. Go for the steak or fish tacos!

Bizarre experience. The food was excellent and the ambience is nice, but the staff left a lot to be desired. We ordered the happy hour special as soon as we sat down (tacos + tequila shot + Tecate). Tacos come, and we ask twice more for the drinks. Then our server gets switched out, and when we ask the new one for the drinks, she said that we would have to order it again because it’s not showing on the order (i.e. buy another round of tacos). When we asked why she couldn’t just delete the current order and re-enter it correctly, she said that staff gets judged for altering orders in the system and she “didn’t want to look like a bad employee.” Um, what? Keep in mind we had already ordered apps and drinks outside of the happy hour special, so it was weird she was trying to upsell us / not honor our original order.

The staff was very welcoming!
We tried the cauliflower vegan taco & vegan nachos & both of them were delicious!

Coming from someone who’s only ever taken the time to write three reviews, this feels important. Let’s dive in!
We were torn between a different Mexican restaurant and Barrio after hearing great reviews for both. Ultimately, Barrio won out due to the ambiance alone because we’re big on that and we’re visiting from out of town.
Immediately upon stepping up to the host stand, we were greeted by Cortland, who would eventually make this one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. We told him we were celebrating my fiancés birthday and from that moment on he committed to making our dinner unforgettable.
We started with drinks. I ordered the Blood Orange Margarita and my fiancé fancied the Guava Margarita. Both were fantastic. We then moved on to the Queso Fundido, which arrived in a skillet with incredible house made tortilla chips. We devoured it so fast, I forgot to take a photo!
As we were enjoying our appetizer and drinks, both Cortland and another manager came over to say happy birthday to my fiancé and give well wishes. They said that because he was turning 30, he deserved a $30 shot! They handed him one of their best tequilas to try on the house.
It was time for tacos and we tried 4 different ones to really get a taste for the menu. All four were delicious and extremely fresh tasting. Not the type of tacos that are smothered in cheese and eventually sit in your gut and feel heavy.
At this point, Cortland had been back countless times to check on the food & drinks, give us curated Seattle suggestions and genuinely get to know us better. At the end of our meal we were surprised (yet again) by an absolutely delicious plate of churros and chocolate dipping sauce! Another special birthday touch!
If you’re looking for great food & drinks, this is the spot. If you’re looking to feel cared for and celebrated by excellent staff, this is also the spot. It’s been weeks since we’ve been home from Seattle and we still talk about Cortland and crave the queso. Don’t miss this place.

Got the fried asparagus, beet taco, and springtime sweet tea slush. Very very good
Mbaye Dione
The service on this restaurant is amazing, big portion of food and drinks! Food was a little salty tho.
Kimberly Pham
Located on 12th and Pike. Great vibes, wonderful drinks, and super friendly bartender. I love the fact that this place has tall ceilings, open windows, and a nice outdoor patio. Great spot for friends gathering or casual date night. If you are looking for a nice place to chill, relax with comfortable Mexican food and good cocktails then this is your place.
Brooke
The food was good and our server was super nice. We shared a chorizo breakfast burrito smothered in green sauce- so good! This is definitely a happy hour and dinner spot vs brunch. The music for a Saturday brunch was loud and obnoxious, it did not fit the atmosphere at all. The ambiance at brunch made it feel like their uncared for shift that no one wanted to work, except our sever Kevin was great! He really made up for the lack of personality and attention from the rest of the staff.
Hiroko Ebizaki
They have a great bar and atmosphere. I’ve been going to Barrio for many years, and even though they’ve updated menus, I still like the place a lot. Food is a bit pricy compared to other Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood, but the portions are generous, and most importantly they are pretty good. I like their cod tacos and everything on their main/specials on the menu.
Olivia M
Really good drinks and tacos. Great happy hour menu. They also do a great $10 deal - beer, tequila shot and taco. The fish tacos were really tasty as well as the loaded nachos and chips and salsa. Drinks were good too - would recommend the blood orange margarita. Spaced out tables due to covid with both indoor and outdoor seating. Overall a great place!
Jovonneb “jovonneb”
Terrible service but the food is good, I guess. You can't wait at any of the tables or bar for your food, they will ask you to leave, minis the star. Your food will be cold when you come it pick up. I expect better for $40 nachos and shrimp tacos I used to like this place.
Anders Stadum
I’m not gonna lie, the absolute best thing to get here is not on the menu. They serve an incredible slow roasted whole turkey, but there’s a secret code name when you order called: “the mexgiving”. It takes a while and they only serve it near closing. Service was great. Chips could’ve been warmer.
Jayanth Anantharaman (Jay)
Loved their Vegan Nachos and CHARRED
CAULIFLOWER tacos. They don't have too many vegetarian options but whatever they have is absolutely delicious. They have outdoor seating with tents setup outside. Covid precautions: They sanitize tables between customers.
Molly Madsen
The food is bursting with flavor and the drinks are amazing, but the best part of our experience was Annika, the bartender/hostess/manager. We landed at Barrio under dark circumstances after my boyfriend was severely injured in a mountain biking accident. We’re from WI and chose Barrio our second night in Seattle after some very long days at the hospital. I loved her and the food so much I went back three times. Annika was so funny and sweet. It was just an awesome experience. The kindness of strangers during these situations is really unbelievable.
Gi D
I forget how I missed this place, until I came back. First time eating here since last year. Lots of space between tables, waiters keep their distance but are attentive. Food was amazing and it was good to feel normal for once.

Went for happy hour /dinner.
Pros: the food was delicious! One of the best Tres Leches cakes I've had outside of Southern California. I loved the toasted macadamia nuts on top! The queso fundido was a bit too "mushroomy" for my husband, but I really liked it.
Cons: Happy hour pricing isn't all that discounted and I'm pretty sure my shot of mezcal was diluted.
Elise Higgins
Awesome restaurant! Great staff and ambiance is very unique. Visiting Seattle for a few days and picked it on a whim and so glad we did! We split the nachos and had an Al Pastor taco each and both were absolutely delicious! If I ever find myself in Seattle again, I will be back!
Rik kern
Easily one of the best, if not the best Mexican restaurant in the Seattle area. Amazing tacos, in house Made sauces and salsas. The food is so good. The atmosphere is classy and high-end. It's very beautiful especially at night
Nathan Yagi-Stanton
Went in for a tequila tasting (Tromba!) and stuck around for happy hour! Awesome variety of snacks and tacos on their happy hour menu, friendly bartenders and the small plates we ordered were delicious and filling.
Elizabeth G
Food is great when they get it right - twice I’ve ordered the mushroom and kale enchilada and it has arrived with chicken, which as a lifelong vegetarian I accidentally ate!
MinDea My Life In Bites
Finally checked this place out for brunch on Sunday. I was really excited to try their Chiliquiles but I did not like Sunday's special so instead I ordered the eggs benedict without the pulled pork. Holy cow was I glad I ordered this. The habanero hollandaise sauce was outstanding. Loved the spice in it. The eggs were perfectly cooked and I really loved the papa bravas. They had great spice to them. I wish they were a little crispy, but they had so much flavor it didn't really matter! My boyfriend got the Breakfast Cazuela. He said it was really good. The fresh homemade tortillas were awesome but very heavy so he only ate one of them. Our friend ordered the biscuits and gravy and said that he loved it. That it really great flavor. Would definitely go back!!!
Joyful
Fresh! Yummy! Friendly! Definitely recommended! Give this place a try, Happy Hour is a great time to try out some tacos, guac, salsas, & apps. I'm sure the cocktails are great as well.
If you like Hot, I rec Habanero Salsa and Guac! Lots of yummy chips to dip!
I also tried the Shrimp Ceviche- fresh, Hot (Spicy)! Delicious!
Minus one star because they started imposing a mandatory 20% tip (automatically added to your check, so watch it b4 you tip!) And it's b4 tax, so you actually pay tax on your tip too!!🤨And the fact that servers make $15/hr really isn't fair to add the automatic 20% tip! ☆Tipping has been the custom due to servers being paid a very low wage, $2.38 in most states☆ I still tip and very well, but to have it imposed and taxed will keep me from dining here and in their other restaurants!
Jesus “cuchurro18” Gonzalez
Nachos, fried chicken tacos and a couple beers. Outstanding, best food I can think of so far.
The Stockingers
OMG yum. We love this place. The super friendly bartender here introduced us to Meszcal. We LURVE tequila, but mezcal is a whole other thing and they got LOTS of different mezcals to try as sippers and put in drinks. Amazing food. Duh.
Topher Nuzzo
The vibe of this place was great! The service was friendly and quick, and the food was very delicious. Had a good amount of vegetarian options which was appreciated. Overall a very good experience!
Bruce Fischer
Atmosphere and food here are great and it's our go to Mexican restaurant when visiting Capitol Hill. Food and drinks are well priced and taste great. Staff are friendly and helpful especially Rozz.
Elliott Hodson
Being our last night together in Seattle, my siblings and I wanted to go to a more upscale place to eat and Barrio did not disappoint.
One thing that Barrio does exceptionally well is balance a bit of traditional Mexican flavor with Spanish and European influences that allows them to appeal to a more diverse audience. Their tacos were on point; I would personally recommend the Al Pastor and Lamb tacos which were both exceptional and juicy.
I personally am not a fan of tequila but the bartenders more than happily accommodated this and suggested a very aromatic local gin which really made my night when turned into a Gimlet.
I loved this place so much I came back again the next night. Well worth the price! Shout our to Cat, such a sweet bartender!I
Shawn Lehouillier
This place was great. Lots of selection and a super friendly staff. Some of the tastiest food I have had since visiting Seattle. Flor was a great server who was very detailed in explaining all the options. If you can sit in her section I would recommend it. Drinks were very good too.
Gregory Deer
We went to Barrios on the spur of the moment and oh my, did we get the treat of our lives!
Barrios take traditional Mexican foods and turns them on their ears. I had chicken tortilla soup that was the best I ever tasted. The same for each diner, whether carnitas or quesadillas. Moderate to slightly higher prices, but clearly worth it
Joshua Renz
I’ve been coming her for close to a decade. Awesome place! Always has a great staff and the food is as good as it gets. Great atmosphere. Street parking, lots of seats and decent prices.
Selena Chu
We went for brunch at 11:30 on a Sat morning. I made reservations online beforehand; but actually it’s pretty relax during that hour. I ordered the pork belly eggs Benedict. It was delicious and fulfilling. Our server was friendly and attentive. Good experience overall!
D Jackson
I only went in bc the server outside was super cute but turns out the food was actually good... Who would have thunk.. Service was good too.. It was a bit hard getting the bartender attention when I needed it but once you did they made you feel like you were the only person there...
Kelsey Burns
Good food and atmosphere! I would definitely come back.
Shamitha Sridharan
Tons of vegetarian options, unique brunch menu, friendly service and nice ambiance. To go packaging is compostable!
Hasanex Mendez
I love this place ever since I discovered it last year, but only until recently have I fallen in love with their nachos. They are the bomb and I wouldn't go anywhere else for nachos. If I am ever in capitol hill this place is always on my mind. They also have happy hour daily from 3pm-6pm and the micheladas are good. Come here you won't regret it!
Tony Kilt
Delicious cocktails, the warmed chips with the salsa, the delectable kale and mushroom enchiladas with both the green and red sauces to sample, and three different tasty tacos. An excellent dining experience. We will be back here again!
shikhar agarwal
Barrio is more of a taco date place with a decent selection of cocktails.
If you’re looking for an authentic taco experience, it may fall short of your expectation.
Tejal Raut
This place is HUGE and ambience is great! We got a cozy table for two and it felt nice.
The chorizo tacos is by far the best chorizo I’ve had in a while. The lamb shanks were flavorful as well.
The only reason for a 4/5 were the desserts. The truffle trio they had to offer did not stand to my expectations.
makaya rivers
The food was a little bit smaller than I thought but with that being said it was delicious. The one server was very quick nice and professional.
Patti St. Vincent
Went to the Briarcliff location of Barrio for the first time tonight with two others. Fabulous experience from beginning to end! We went for their happy hour which was outstanding! The ambience is wonderful with the open concept and the indoor/outdoor feel when the big garage door type sliding walls are open. The Mexican food was upscale, but at reasonable prices, and delicious. Best frozen margarita I've ever had since I could actually taste the tequila (a rarity these days). Our server Trevor was super awesome! Quick, knowledgeable, polite, can't say enough about him! We will definitely be back! This is a welcome addition to the Northland!
Hailey Vasquez
One of the best Mexican spots on Capitol Hill. Definitely pricey, but the food, drinks, and atmosphere are all fantastic. The bar inside is gorgeous and the deck is great on nice days. Go for lunch to save $$
Narine Harut
It was my first time at this restaurant, place was clean and well-maintained with nice decors, food was good, I got tacos, my favorite one, pork with pineapple...
Jason Sidhu
Great food, great ambience, friendly and attentive staff. We ordered one each of the vegetarian tacos, chips and salsa, shrimp ceviche and beer battered rockfish bowl. Everything tasted so flavourful, the fresh chips and salsa and house hot sauce hit different. Amazing place!
Jessica Robles
Decent sort of nuevo auténtico style Mexican food in a nice dinner atmosphere (great night lighting); have also had good brunch. Convenient location. Tasty tacos.
Danny Knox
Cauliflower taco was the surprise star of the evening. Walls fold open to street to create an open air seating. A bit chilly, but appreciate not being at home these days.
Alex Volkov
The food was pretty good. Make reservations ahead of time unless you want to wait. Looks pretty cool inside too!
Raven J.
Good food & drink. can be a bit overpriced but good enough! Great outdoor seating with fresh air (much needed in 2020). Waiting staff are so nice, but some things are self-served at the moment. Check out the dine-in menu that I posted, if you need!
Nina Fitton
Great outdoor setup, sheltered from the wind and rain. Staff are super conscientious. So sad not to be able to dine indoors, as the interior looks beautiful!
Pratik Patil
Fresh and awesome Mexican food. I would recommend Grilled prawn tacos.
Shawn Armstrong
Atmosphere and drinks were good. They were slammed with events in the area and even though the food came quickly the center of my burrito was cold, as if it had just come out of the fridge. Luckily it was a big burrito, so I just ate the ends until reaching the cold center
Asher Oosterbaan
Being from Texas, I definitely have high standards for mexican or tex mex restaurants. Barrio has some very decent street tacos, but I definitely wouldn't say it wowed me. I think it ultimately lacks a flavor bomb I'm really seeking from tacos like this. I really try to stick only to the vegan/veggie ones-- and the three they had were all very good, but there was definitely a little something lacking from them. The restaurant itself though has great vibes, the margaritas are awesome, and the service is great. Not a bad option if you're out and about in Cap Hill.
Gerald Smith
The food was delicious! My drink was even more delicious! I had the green chile pineapple mule-- to die for! Our water was very attentive.
bindu gopinath
We walked in with no reservations and found a table . Loved the lighting and ambience , the general vibe both the times I visited . The service was good , food was delicious .
Rosemarie Wentz
Wonderful taco selections. Beans and rice were just wonderful as well. We enjoyed the modern flare on Mexican food and the unusual drinks. Only disappointment was leaving our leftover box on the table. :(
Anusha Prasad
My absolute favorite nachos ever in town!! I’ve been here for dinner, and brunch and both offer a good variety for the vegetarian in me. Love their drinks too! Recommend for a date night or for a Friday night with friends.
Joe Hicks
Sometimes good service. Sometimes good food. Sometimes persistent rats. Keep your eyes open and bags closed.
Rebecca Vasquez
The food and drinks were delicious! The service was amazing! Our bartender/server was Carlos. He was so friendly, helpful and fun and he made our experience unforgettable. We will definitely be back next time we're in Seattle!
Aisha Pleasant
I absolutely love the lighting in this place. The lighting totally creates the ambiance and sets the mood. I have been to this place one time before for a ladies luncheon I had some sort of burrito and it was smothered in some sauce, long story short I totally don't remember what I had. My coworker and I decided on Barrios because of the walking distance from our job and we were going to celebrate our 8-year anniversary at Swedish. We arrived around 5:52 because she did not get off work until 5:30. Luckily the hostess was still willing to honor the happy hour to us however she did mention at 6 p.m. they start reservation only. Luckily she found a table that was not booked until 6:45 she agreed to tell our server we could still have the happy hour specials as long as we would give up the table by 6:45. The place was definitely packed with customers enjoying themselves and having a great time. Let me repeat the lighting in this place totally sets the mood. She and I were escorted to a cute little booth right beside the bar area, it was a bit dark when we first sat down however the server lit a candle and it brightened up. I decided on the roasted corn-on-the-cob,the salsa and chips, and the classic lime margarita. I believe my coworkers chose the sangria Fros and nachos. The server returned with our food I believe within 9 or 10 minutes. Let me just say their presentation is amazing, I believe I spent $16 on my classic lime Margarita double shot. The roasted corn was totally delicious, I believe it had some of ground cheese on it, if your lactose intolerant The salsa and chips are great as well. The salsa is a bit different than the classic salsa u get elsewhere, it seems to be more ground up or pureed, then the usual that is chunky like pico de gallo. The nachos can definitely be shared between three or four people, the nachos are huge no kidding. Her drink the sangria frose and it was sweet. Something like this is for someone who prefers a sweet drink versus hard liquor. So if you're into cute sweet drinks I would definitely go with the sangria frose. I would return to this place any day of the week totally a cool spot to hang out. The food is delicious, drinks are amazing, and the staff is spectacular. Food 4 stars, staff five stars, service five stars. An amazing place to go visit.
Elliot Hosch
This is THE spot. The service was perfect, the food was incredible and we loved our drinks. We are for sure coming here every time we are in town!
Chiguay Ante
Brunch is always great here! Cocktails are always changing and offer something new and exciting. The Mexican/American fusion isn't just texmex and is always special. One star down is only because the chicken has been dry the last couple times I've went. Maybe just go with the pork or beef.
Artem Bidnichenko
+1 star for the chips and salsa.
Burrito was pretty bland. Friends got a marg that tasted watered down.
You are going to be fairly satisfied with your experience here, but I doubt you will tell your friends about this place.
Arthur Childs
Very awesome experience. Love the atmosphere, enjoyed the music, and highly recommend the food.
Citrus Faux
Their margaritas are like a kids crayon drawing that you feel obligated to put on the fridge.
J K Jhaveri
Food was average, service makes up for the food, great ambiance
Rachel Dawson
Amazing and flavor packed dishes. We were a table of 4 and shared the nachos, taquitos, quesadilla and the corn...and if course drinks. Definitely enough for all of us. Ask for the habenaro salsa...really tasty!
Prithvi Shetty
Really like the ambience as well as the drinks.
The grilled.prawns tacos and the nachos were good!!
Dan Hoang
Excellent ambiance, the drinks are well mixed and the food has full distinct flavors.
Mateo Morales
Amazing variety of mezcal and the tacos are some of the best I've had in the NW.
Astro Nautical
Service and atmosphere wonderful, food is okay, dessert was really great, though.
Trina Miller
We had a group of seven last week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Immediate seating and immediate service taking our drink orders and immediate return with everything as ordered. Our server was really good. Professional, friendly and knowledgeable of the drink menu and food menu. She was able to answer all of our questions regarding ingredients and preparation and then steer us toward what we might like best...and she nailed it! She was also very attentive throughout the entire meal, always made sure we were well served. Chicken enchiladas were perfectly prepared and the serving was 3 in the skillet, so lunch the next day was easy. The salmon tacos turned out to be a little too hot for one of our group but the flavor was very good. Others thought it not too hot.
Lara-Ashley Monroe
It was ok for food but the staff was exceptionally friendly and professional!! Thank you!
Chandana Kulkarni
The food was amazing, atmosphere was great, all round fantastic spot!
Eli Leslie
Love this place. Easy parking garage next door and a great place to grab dinner after a visit to Laughing Buddha. The chicken tacos are amazing and the only place ever where the chicken taco is as good or better than the steak.
V Stickney
Certainly better than average. I LOVE the nachos, especially during happy hour. Service has never been exceptional. Recently tried one of the salads and found it to be very good as well. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because of the lackluster service. Creative and tasty menu.
Cody Taylor
Fantastic food and drinks. I visit frequently and everything is consistently excellent. Quite a few fantastic vegan options. Impossible to leave dissatisfied.
Nicole Caldwell
Loved the rock fish tacos (wanted something not spicy and this was very mild) and cocktail special of the day. Great place to catch up with friends, lovely atmosphere especially with nice weather with the windows open. Waiter was very nice and attentive. Table reserved was ready right away. My friend liked the food a lot too and they are a foodie.
Anthony Crisologo
The food here is top notch. They have a good menu of veggie items , which all tasted great. I like that they serve booch, which is nice for a non drinker . Tara was our server , she was very friendly and professional. They also had some good music playing . I will definitely go here again!
Patricia Zavalza
I haven't tried the food here but their drinks are very tasty!
Heather Latimer
The staff here was OUTSTANDING. They were so kind and patient. They made a special batch of guacamole for our table because one of my friends is allergic to cilantro. They have vegan and gluten free options. My friends and I talked for a while after the meal, and the staff was so kind, since they needed the table but didn’t want to interrupt our evening, they offered to move us to the bar and buy our drinks. We didn’t take them up on the offer as we had to head out anyway, but the staff was really incredible. Would definitely go again!
Alrun Burgmeier
Love the outside patio. Drinks are delicious, food and service are awesome as well. Had a burrito bowl and it was the perfect dish for a sunny spring day. As for drinks I recommend a Mezcal Negroni, it's the perfect mix of smoky and refreshing.
Bracht NyErrhyn
All of the food was delicious, the portions were about average for the style, but the price was a bit on the spendy side. Still good though.
Deirdre McShane
Went for brunch, excited for veg options. Crispy potatoes were exciting! Food was pretty bland but okay? Maybe meat dishes have some more umph?
Could be better service. Was a while before coffee arrived and took a couple of attempts to get server’s attention to get the check
Katie Wolfram
literally the best tacos and drinks I’ve ever had
Dann G
Place is nice I love the candles there are candles everywhere. My food was good and my drinks were perfect. This man named Otniel was helping us during our visit. And he went above and beyond he brought drinks so quick I was impressed it was my first time being at this place and im coming back for sure. Let the guy know how amazing he did please. Coming back again. 5 stars good job.
Candido Hernandez
Amazing food and great atmosphere. Drinks were good and most of the food was top of the line. I'd go back to try some other options.
John Madonna
The drinks here are great. I appreciated the vegetarian and the vegan options for tacos, though I was definitely put off by the prices. All in all the service was wonderful and the ambiance (which included about two hundred lit candles along I've wall) were wonderful and I could see returning here in the future.
Erin Anthony
Came in tonight for my brother's birthday dinner and it was the best Mexican food I've had since going to Mexico. Blood orange margaritas were amazing, food was hot, fresh, and so flavorful. Loved the braised chicken enchiladas!!! Large portions as well. Our server was super friendly and stayed on top of everything we needed. Party of 6 and still had fast, accurate service. Churros with chocolate sauce for dessert were outstanding. A modern take on authentic Mexican cuisine.
Dominic D
I’ve been to Barrios an endless number of times, as they’re one of the few places that can accommodate larger group sizes and are open late. This tends to be a last choice for larger groups. The food and drink has been consistent, but I wouldn’t label it as great. Fonda la Catrina in Georgetown continues to rank as one of my top Mexican in Seattle.
Food and drinks are basic, yet tend to be at least $1 more per item. I’ve seen and tasted much of the menu, and haven’t been impressed. The tacos in particular were a big let down—bland and in desperate need of flavour!
It’s a larger restaurant, and potentially understaffed, so service (at peak times) always tends to be slower than desired. Be ready to order, and possibly flag the server for additional drinks/asks.
On the plus side, they’re larger and can accommodate big reservations (even last minute). On Capitol Hill this is a rare luxury.
John Haslam
Terrific upscale cantina style Mexican restaurant with woodsy rich ambiance and outstanding service. Unique drink menu rounds out what will be a wonderful evening out to eat
Noah Saffer
We had excellent service from Brooklyn the manager, and our server Nicholas. Hostess who seated us was delightful with a great big smile. We are both in the service industry and this was the icing on the cake for us. Everyone loves service and good Mexican food, so if this is you, I would highly recommend!
Food was fresh and wholesome. Tres Leches with Berry compote was fabulous as well!
Chad Meyers
Upscale Mexican with a variety of salsas to try along with interesting taco combinations. They have vegan and gluten free options. I had the vegetable hash and the portion was too big to finish. If you order a side a beans they come with cheese so specify if you don’t want it. Don’t miss the house margaritas as they would be top shelf elsewhere.
Rich A
Pretty good food, nice ambiance … I ordered the fajitas and the chicken was dry from the way it is prepared … friend got the kale and mushroom enchiladas which were not bad, but not special, we won’t be hurrying back
Aashish Sinha
Great starters and tacos. Good drink menu.
Gary Child
I don't like Mexican food. I go from time to time to please my wife. Barrio was great. Great selection if eclectic tacos were nice, the pork belly was my favorite. And make sure to have some smoked salted caramels for dessert.
Will Armstrong
Awesome drinks. Beware of the chicken nachos ...it is COLOSSAL! Delicious but way too big for us! Service was fantastic and the vibe is very cool... We liked the hidden booth in the shadows behind the bar for a little privacy! 😉 …
Janice Talley
Great spot for larger groups in cap hill. Charming ambiance and has a separate section for private parties that’s cutely decorated. The food is good, not amazing, but good. Fresh ingredients and well made margs. Had the tortilla soup, guacamole, and spicy shrimp. Guacamole was more than enough for table of four, soup was thick instead of broth which was a surprise. Shrimp was super spicy and came with rice and beans.

Here's the 411:
1. make reservation on their web site, this place is a hot table.
2. the bar is right on point if you just want drinks-- a big curvy granite one and the place is not too loud to have a nice conversation.
3. they do an odd thing and automatically add 20% 'service charge' to the bill (ie this is the tip) so when you're presented with the bill the handheld scanner is asking you to 'tip' another 20% beware this would mean a 40% tip, if that is what you intend to do, go for it.
4. Oh yeah and the food is really delicious and unique, and plenty of interesting vegan options.
5. great service !
Annette Lessard
Friendly waitstaff, tasty pork carnitas tacos and the roasted jalapeño salsa is fantastic. It like so many other Capital Hill restaurants is over priced. $5 for one street style taco? Next time I will hit up a taco truck. Also a side of guac...$11, no joke.
Aneesa Sulayman
Though this was my first visit, it definitely won't be my last. Everyone is very friendly and the service is great. The food was very yummy. Enjoyed my iced Mexican coffee. 🙂
Janelle Henderson
Best food ever!!!! Everything I have eaten here has been delicious. Their drinks are amazing. The staff is cool and the ambiance is very sexy. I highly recommend!!! I go often because the food is so good.
Reece Pfannenstiel
Amazing. All the way.
The atmosphere and service amazing. Drinks are phenomenal. The food was well plated. Flavors were perfect I didn’t need to touch the salt or pepper or ketchup. I will DEFINITELY be coming back first chance I get.
Darrin Smith
I really enjoyed Barrio when I went, great atmosphere all around from the architecture to the interior design everything was very well-thought-out.
The food was amazing and the service followed suit, I love me some nachos m and boy oh boy do they have a great dish. (Vegan as well which is amazing and a delightful sight)
Got to love the door by the way.

Came in on a Thursday hoping to finish the night with a nice drink and a snack. The ambiance was a pleasing combination of dark and upscale.
We were served at the bar by an expert bartender crafting superb cocktails with fresh and varied ingredients. He clearly enjoyed his work, and paid attention to details, making it fun for us.
The drink menu was inventive and the list of available spirits was impressive. The chips and salsa were very tasty though a little salty.
This was what we were looking for. Overall a terrific experience.
Alistair Lattimore
Booked ahead for a group of 10, they could accommodate us no problem and the service was excellent. I loved the tacos - my favorites were homemade chorizo, spiced steak and fried chicken. Would definitely go again!
Christopher A.
Good. Consistent.
Homeless guy flashing us in window but we knew it is not thier fault!
Oksana Matsegora
It's definitely on my list of great spots on Cap hill. Sometimes just stop there for a drink. Bartenders are fun and entertaining. Just a couple days ago stopped for lunch. I forgot how good the food is. Chipotle chicken enchilada - delicious!
Matt Perrone
Barrio is a Mexican restaurant that has some staple dishes, but also a great selection of drinks and brunch items. It is on 12th Ave right off of Pike Street, and is a popular spot on weekends and weeknights for locals. Their skillets and breakfast items are the most ordered items on the menu and for great reasons - they are both delicious. Service is pretty on point here and it is always very clean inside, although it gets busy constantly so prepare yourself for a wait if you haven't made a reservation. French toast and churros are also some great items on the menu that you should try.

I've eaten and drank here twice, and it's been a very nice experience both times. The food was delicious and I really liked their draft beers. Dark and moody atmosphere, which I love. Servers were always exceptionally nice and prompt. Recommended!
Laila Nettles
I love this place! It seems to run like a well oiled machine and the food is always on point. As a vegetarian I have plenty of options. I love the outdoor seating with its gorgeous foliage and serene fountain. I make sure to eat here each and every time I visit Houston. (Sometimes more than once.) I know I will always leave satisfied and full.
Jonathan Matos
Excellent food in a laid-back and welcoming atmosphere. Walking through the big wooden doors, (which my wife didn't initially believe was the entrance), you're greeted by a dimly lit, but friendly setting. Large windows set higher, allow outside light from the street and sky in. Guacamole was good, if a little cold (probably not fresh, but made daily). Tacos are where it's at though. We had prawns, pastor, and fish. We all agreed that three tacos was more than enough food and felt stuffed. Three prawns per taco, a good helping of pork in the pastor, and a pretty large piece of beer battered fish were well received in our stomachs. Definitely recommend if you're looking for Mexican style food in Seattle.
Waffle Instant
Super duper fancy and great service. However, I'm not certain this is your traditional Mexican family style restaurant. No free chips and salsa and a very limited menu. Great food though for what they have! Worth a try if you're willing to have a more fancy Mexican food experience.
Ry Cli
Service was just okay. Food was also just okay. I like Pablo y Pablo better for both. Same owners and almost identical menu.
Kristine Antonsen
Great for weekend brunch! My group of girls made a reservation a few weeks in advance and we had a relaxed morning enjoying conversation, fun brunch drinks, and the menu options. Chips and salsa were on par as was everyone's entrees. Ambiance is inviting, without being pretentious. Service was gracious even as we lingered for a while after divvying up the bill.
Jaime Michel
Worked there great place to eat and drink, great service. If you're on Capitol Hill gotta go!
Jeremiah Aden
Came here for our anniversary dinner on Friday March 15th, was told by friends and other online reviews that this is a place to celebrate a special occasion. My girlfriend was super hyped. She made the reservations ahead of time and put in the reservation details that it was our anniversary to let the hostess/wait staff know we were celebrating. We were disappointed that nothing special was done for us. I even ordered celebratory tequila shots for us so maybe he would ask us about our special occasion. A mixture of not being attentive and not really caring(I see this a lot in establishments who have automatic gratituities) was to blame. The food was amazing(carnitas asada) and various tacos were all delicious. We both liked the margaritas we ordered, and the tequila selection was top notch. I will give this place a second chance but really wished that the waiting staff really paid more attention to the customers.
Aimee chaban
This place is undoubtedly the bomb as evidenced by the long waits. We went on a Friday night and the wait was an hour. Totally understandable. Yet when a 4 top opened I saw it stay unoccupied for 15 minutes before they gave it to us. That kind of bothered me. Then when we sat we waited another 15 minutes before anyone took our order. Our waitress Tara was great it just seemed like maybe she had too many tables. We ordered nachos which were probably the best nachos I’ve ever had. The cheese was amazing and they had pickled jalapeños which took some of the spice off but still kept flavor. The carne Asada was the best meat it was so tender and flavorful. It was a little on the rare side for me but that’s just me it’s nothing against who prepared it. The flavor of the al pastor was also glorious. We tried both soups and they were great also. The bean dip is again just so flavorful. They use a mix of jack and oxaco cheese which is just a perfect blend. It was just so so good. I would go for the nachos 1000 percent. Last thing, there was a man working and he was clearly the general manager or someone in the upper management portion and I saw him clearing tables and wiping them down, he never socialized with customers unless someone asked him a question but he was always working and helping his staff and I’m like this is amazing. He really made an impression on me.
Aaron V
Amazing brunch. They changed the menu and everything sounds so good on it. I tried the pork belly benedict and it was amazing with the chipotle sauce. Highly recommend this place
Ryan B
Delicious food, great staff. Awesome drink selection
Chuks C-M.
Great place in Cap Hill to grab some food or a drink any time of the day. I came here for brunch with a friend and was really impressed with the food variety they had. The seasoning was great and the food portion size was more than enough. Very classy setting inside and it emits a chill vibe.
JB Reynolds
Authentic Mexican food with a chef'd up spin. Nachos are HUGE! Beans and cheese is my jam. Pretty much all the tacos, including the beet taco (I hate beets) are great! The bar staff is the s**t! Knowledgeable, friendly and fast. Get your agave spirit's at 50% off on Mondays... ALL DAY! It's taco time!!!!
Justin
Excellent service, super weird food. Not sure I was going to like it based on the menu description but their vegan enchiladas were amazing. Well-played. Also had a local whiskey recommended by the staff that was great.
miguel bejar
If you visit Seattle, do not miss this rare gem of high end Mexican food. The ambience is vibrant, the food is an experience to the palate. We had the spicy cauliflower which was an exciting surprise, 20 ingredient mole with chicken was quite a treat and you can not go wrong with the mojitos. It's a packed place on Friday night, we basically stumbled upon the place and we had to wait a bit but was worth it. Great service and friendly hostess. A must if we ever come back to Seattle
K. Kamacho
Oh man. So many good things to say about this place. Food first?
Yeah, the food is always top notch, and it's one of those places where you can just taste that things were made with fresh ingredients. I've been here for brunch twice, and both times I've had the pork belly eggs bene. My god. This is - beyond a doubt - the best eggs bene I've ever had. I don't even want to explain it, you should taste it yourselves.
And I've been here for dinner once. Holy cr*p, I can't remember what the name of the dish was because the tequila and mezcal flights after may have scrambled my brain a bit. An enchilada dish? Darn good.
Speaking of flights, my best experience with Mexican liquor has been here. If you sit at the bar, the bartender will answer any question you have about the different flights, spirits, etc., and will take their time to explain some basic concepts about things like the different types of tequila. A super comfortable introduction to more higher quality stuff. And the flights are good stuff. Like, spoiled me off of the tequila I can afford.
And I believe they have a half off deal on... Mondays was it? Wednesdays? It's for tequa flights and I neat tequilas iirc. Can't remember which day, but it's one helluva deal for the quality and atmosphere you get
Bryce Pielage
Currently my favorite restaurant in Seattle. Their fried chicken tacos are pretty incredible. I personally hate beets, but I even really liked their beet taco. Incredibly friendly and personable staff. And a really cool industrial vibe.
Brian Hard
Overall pretty good Mexican food. It's a loud and boisterous place but the service was good and food and drinks were above average. There was a small wait for a party of 4 on a weekend evening. That's pretty fine just keep that in mind if you're thinking about dropping in.
Jacqueline Livingstone
Food was good. Guacamole was great. Quesadilla was pretty good too.
Place was really dark where we were seated. To the point I had to turn on the flashlight on my phone to read the menu.
Service was good. Cocktails were so so.
Damian Levine
The place is really cool with a nice decoration that make it look really fancy.
The prices are really high and the food and the cocktail are not good but not bad, I mean for that price it have to be better.
The service was terrible, the Waiter smelt ill, and his behaviour was not the most suitable, we asked for Salsa he said us that costs money.
Well I hope the getting better because the place looks really nice
Cody E
Nothing about Barrio is "authentic", but I enjoy how spacious it is, the healthy menu options and the cocktails. Particularly impressed by how they keep so many candles burning at all times. Gives a nice ambiance.
Sage Wheeler
Barrio is the place to go for Mexican food in Seattle. Great food, great staff, great drinks, and great ambiance. Noise level is better than average, conversation there was easy, so great for date night. Best. Nachos. Ever.
Saksham B
Great tasting drinks and the nacho platter was delicious. Ambience and service is great too- a lot of different areas to sit with varying levels of privacy.
Jordan Nakamura
Great happy hour. Tried the taco platter which had a great variety. I really enjoyed the salmon taco the most.
They have good cocktails and a variety of them from spicy to sweet.
Lauren Hoover
The food is great, as are the drinks but I as a frequent customer I was extremely disappointed and almost embarrassed by your service this weekend. On Saturday evening, we were seated in an almost empty restaurant at 5:15 pm. We had drinks, dinner, and were given the check by our server with about half our drinks left to finish. A hostess came over to our table telling us we "had to move" as they had a large party coming in and needed our table. We'd only been in the restaurant about 50 minutes and she suggested we move to the bar to finish our drinks. Had she done her job better, we would've been seated in a different area to begin with. Our server was great, but the hostess literally ruined the entire dinner and I will be hesitant to go back (especially with an out-of-town guest) as it was embarrassing for us and our server. He had to walk around the restaurant trying to find us after she moved us to the bar without telling him.
Ryan Davis
The guacamole and spiced cauliflower was good. The entrees was just ok. I had the squash and kale enchiladas. I think what made it worst for me was the waiter (acted as if he didn't want to be there) and the fact that food did not come out at the same time. I had to wait for a side of cooked jalapeños even though my food was ready. The atmosphere is nice.
Angel M. Esperas
Love the interior design! So awesome. The service was great and prompt. Food was okay. The chips, guacamole and salsa was my favorite. I loved loved loved that they had vegan options
Kyle Meador
Best enchiladas I have ever had. Probably the best dish I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. Quality service, our waitress was very patient and kind as well as knowledgeable about the menu. If I lived here I would probably eat here at least once a month.
nikolas vasquez
Food is DELICIOUS and the Mezcal/Tequila bar is extensive. Food is modern take on Mexican food. All the food is great but the chorizo taco, fried chicken taco, carne asada and green Chile enchilada are my favorites. The bar has a great selection and the drinks have been well thought out/are made from all premium products. Bar staff is very knowledgeable if you have any questions. With good quality comes a price to match and there is an automatic 20% gratuity fee.
Scott CL
A nice casual place but feel that the food was a little bit or miss. I had 3tacos, the first with seared pineapple was great, the 2nd with beef dry and the 3rd pork was only average.
Not a place I would say is a must visit but not a place to avoid either.
Nitika Bajwa
Very good food.. Good cocktails... People were sweet. It's open again for indoor seating.. Good place now with covid and seattle cold.. Would definitely recommend the fish & chips, chips & salsa and quesadilla..
T L
Expert staff for such a large group made everything great! Can't say enough about the food experience other than I ate so many chips I was full. Not a bad thing but limit your appetizer for the real deal food.
Phil Cranmer
Atmosphere is nice and I like the roll up doors to connect to the street but the tacos were not worth the price. I had 4 different ones, $5-$6 a piece. None of them were any better than much cheaper street tacos.
Ken Bergmann
The food is excellent if a little pricey. Go for happy hour and you'll save some coin. Friendly service, well-mixed drinks, and great atmosphere have been their consistent trademark. This is a good place for tasty, authentic flavors and classy table service.
Edward Espinal
Really good Mexican food. My carne asada was anaxiam, no complaints! The atmosphere was also great. Good dim ligjtinf, great for conversation, and some pretty cool light background music. Cocktails are also very good. Only reason not 5 start, the guacamole was good, not great.
Shannon
We went here for dinner with a couple friends. The menu isn't very large but the food was good. Been here many times over the years and it is always consistent and always good. We will definitely go back.
levi davis
Mom got a little tipsy but that’s understandable cause the margs are hard to say no to! Great spot for after work hangout or happy hour. Love this spot. Tacos are always delicious and service is great.
M Morrissey
Terrific service. Soft table chairs. Ordered the nachos steak appetizer. ...was a meal for one, maybe two. Stuffed. Great atmosphere. Unusual entrance...look for the handle on the left side of the very large wood doors on right side (looking from street) of restaurant facing a courtyard.
frank english
Loud interior gave me a headache, cramped space, dark atmosphere, food just good, not bad not great, taco el Pastor was the best thing we had. Expensive, 30$ per person without tip and water for drinks.
Ran
Delicious food, great service. Mandatory 20% tip?!
Kate Doyle
Excellent for and service. A little pricy but worth it. Cocktails were not impressive.
Jordan Boone Bernstein
Gorgeous restaurant. Staff is on top of it. Food was out of this world. Blood orange margaritas with a Tahin salt rim??? They get it. They really get it. The manager Joseph was extremely accommodating to my girlfriends demands (nothing a little Tahin won't fix) and made our experience very memorable. Will definitely return.
Thomas Dodson
Amazing food great kombucha selection
Amanda Aude
If you’re in the mood for fancy-style Mexican food, this is the place. Barrio has a really nice casual, but classy feel. The staff is also super sweet, so that helps! I recommend the Vegetable Cazuela and Red Sangria.
LaRae Madison
Excellent food and service! The guacamole is so delicious and The carnitas so flavorful! The manager, Alain, deserves recognition for making our meal memorable for our special occasion!
Tess Milligan
I just tried Barrio for the first time and really loved their take on Mexican food. I heard the ceviche was awesome, but unfortunately they were out of it that night. We got the tuna instead, which was also great. I also tried the tamale which was great as well.
Mario Gonzalez
This place is unbelievable. What brings this place to life would most definitely have to be its bar! It also helps when you have some of the best bartenders in the city! I mainly speak about the man, the myth, the legend, JB. He is always going to make sure you get the best service you could possibly get and give you some exciting conversation. Make sure to give this place a try when you have a chance, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Wesley Bourgault
Love this place. A great dining experience. My boyfriend and I love to eat here and do whenever we can. They have great drinks as well. Try the corn on the cob if they still have it.
Bud Cashatt
Great spot of semi fancy Mexican food. If you come to this rather swank restaurant you can be sure you'll have to wait to get a table if you don't have reservations. The best item on the menu is the shrimp enchalada... The house margarita is pretty spot on as well.
emily cook
The nachos were some of the best I've had
Ray Castillo Jr.
Really delicious Mexican food. One of my favorite places to have brunch on the weekends. I hardly ever have to wait when I go--since the place is so big--which is always good. You're going to pay Capital Hill prices ($$) but it's worth it.
Dylan Miller
Meh. Drinks were good, but weak. I ordered the chopped salad with prawns. The prawns were $7 and were 5 very small prawns. The salad was otherwise good. My husband got the carne asada which he was also meh about. Has potential, but needs to step it up.
Renganathan Ramamoorthy
Quick review: Decent food (low vegetarian selection), good for larger groups and a pain to find parking in the Capitol hill area make this a second choice for me. Pros: Great drinks. Cons: Poor vegetarian selection.
Barrio is a Mexican fusion restaurant in the Capitol Hill area of Seattle. Hard to find parking, but is a good place for larger groups. Decent beer selection and an excellent drinks selection make this a fun place to hang out. Great tapas options and decent entrees.
Mimi Sanchez
The 3 stars are for the hostess Hannah she was so great and accommodating! That’s where the good service ended. Our server Bronte was god awful, she checked on us once, purposely walked by us when she saw we were ready to pay. We frequent barrio since we live so close by. But we won’t be coming back.
Adam Luchsinger
Can't say enough about the mixologist I met after arriving after dinner for a couple drinks. Just describe what kind of flavors you like and he made some of the best cocktails for my group that we've ever had.
Esjey Kayh
I go for "Mezcal Monday" because every Monday the entire Agave Menu (mezcals and tequilas) is half off if ordered neat. Be sure to get their for happy hour as well (3-6) so you can get bottomless chips with your choice of salsas and have some delicious tacos with your one or two ounce pours.
Franklin Heymann
This place is amazing!!! I went here one night with my family and a party of people, and I loved it. They have great food a great Vibe great lighting and a very respectable staff. I suggest you go there if you are contemplating it know that this is the one to go.
Michael Masterson (Mike Shot This)
Excellent food. Recently moved to Seattle from SoCal. This brought me right back home with authentic flavors.
Christopher Kauffman
Excellent service & dine in option. Great back up after Skillet had their issues. Staff was warm and friendly, food came out super quick and best part! It's dine in!
Megan Murray
Pork burrito bowl with egg is the ticket! Sangria red is delicious and their michelada mix is rad. Had good service and good food. Carnitas pancakes needed some work, bit overall very good. Neat place.
Monali Haldankar
Absolutely delicious! We went for the happy hour 10-12 and had great corn on the cob, enchiladas, and dessert all for under $40. Great atmosphere!
Ethan Maffey
Best nachos in the city. Don't waste money on adding protein. Monday is half price tequila night. Awesome HH tacos and entrees are super tasty. Salsa is overpriced. Clean restrooms.
Donna Ippolito
went here for brunch. it was pretty good, my French toast was terrific, one of the best I've ever had. My friend's burrito was also amazing. the one thing is the chilaquiles. I never had it before and didn't like it. but now can't comment if it was just that I don't like chilaquiles.
Vitaliy Demyanik
Went here for brunch on Sunday with a group of 6. Pros: Was able to book a reservation online same day, large restaurant with trendy vide, cool decorations. The food was ok; I had a pork eggs Benedict, which was pretty good. The others in my group had other meals and most said their's was 'meh'. The server was pretty snarky and messed up two orders. Would come here again just for drinks, not for food.
Erik Byland
Fantastic vibe and fun place. It can get loud but it's a great atmosphere. The fried chicken taco is definitely worth trying. Excellent drinks as well
Jeremy Allen
Incredibly delicious! Homemade guacamole, salsas, and several tasty dishes make it worth a drive and finding parking. The ghost pepper margarita is fantastic... And hot!
Keisha Hays
Wonderful food and drinks! Urban cozy interior that almost takes on a different asthetic at night with the wall of candles. Not overly priced for what you get and the staff was friendly.
Cemian Cemian
Amazing food, as always. The chipotle burrito with all the toppings was a hit, but the biggest highlight of the day was the corn gazpacho! Oh my Goodness.. you have to try it!
Chris Williams
The Guacamole tasted fresh but lacked in flavor. It tasted like avocado with a hint of spice. Service was OK. My glass sat empty a couple of times. The AL pastor taco was so so.

If you're looking for fun, flavor and fusion of Mexican food, Barrio is the spot. It's definitely a place to see and be seen. And a fun place to go when you're out on the town. Great place to meet up with friends. Fresh, delicious food and a great place for drinks. Watch full-length reviews on the KCTS 9 website.
Brian Rowe
Rockfish ceviche took me back to eating fresh mussels in Baja California with Pastor Rigoberto in 2003
Peter Roessler
blown away. Not one criticism here. They can stand PROUDLY behind their food; was outstanding. Get the guacamole, pork belly tacos, the tres leches cake, and the grapefruit ghost pepper margarita. sublime.
Mia Tenorino
Outside seating. Delicious food. Outstanding vegan nachos a d vegan chorizo tacos. Highly recommended the blood orange margaritas!
SYLAINA
I have tried at least 30 different bloody Mary's at restaurants and bars...this place has THE BEST! HANDS DOWN. (If you like it spicy!) Food...big portions and delicious! A must go to spot in Seattle!
Katie P
The food was good. Loved the French toast and veg burrito bowl..
I only have one suggestion to change the table and chairs especially chairs, it was really uncomfortable to sit ..there was no cushion for back..
Manuel Colón
I'm usually hesitant about "up scale" Mexican restaurants, but this was great. Definitely try the ancho chile sauce with chips before your entrees. Vegetarian and vegan friendly options are available too.
P.S. all the candles (easily over 100) are hand lit.
Kyle Spencer Kenny
Cool place and fun atmosphere, awesome chips and salsa selection but heads up you'll have to pay per salsa bowl which is lame, little bit on the pricey side for food, good drink selection. Overall fun place.
Lydia Saboda
I've tried the breakfast burrito, nachos, quesadilla, tinga de pollo taco, pan-seared salmon taco, al pastor taco, and a cinnamon roll there. I can say without a doubt that the flavor and balance of every item on their menu is carefully chosen and cared for by the cooks. I currently live in the Capitol Hill neighborhood and am moving away in a week but I will still make the trip back JUST to go to this restaurant.
The staff are always friendly and accommodating which is very appreciated as someone who loves very flavorful food but is largely unable to enjoy spicy (capsicum) foods. Often in Mexican restaurants my inability to partake in spicy things also means missing out on important flavors. Barrio is not one of these restaurants. The flavors absolutely do not rely on hot peppers.
I adore this place!
David Hyslop
I've celebrated a couple birthdays here and always came here with friends for their awesome margaritas and tacos. Great vibes, good people and in a really cool part of the city. I really enjoy coming here.
RD
Best tacos I’ve ever had! Hands down. Also exceptional and service. Drinks are strong but no complaints
Danielle Ishihara
Delicious. Definitely Americanized Mexican food, but the Frose Sangria was tasty and so were the tacos. Plus there's a dog menu!
Jennifer M
Interior and patio awesome. Drinks awesome. Food is small portions and a bit saucy (drippy and soggy) at times! But great overall! One of my fave places to go!
Nikhil Singh
Delicious brunch with many veggie options. Got the pork belly Benedict myself which was unique (had a south of the border kick) and also very tasty.
Andrei Pokrovsky
Pork belly benedict on Sat/Sun is the best in the history of mankind. Also <3 their Sangrias and Chicken Enchiladas. Mmmm..... Not in your wildest dreams could you imagine mexican food tasting so amazing.
Derek T
Good selection of tacos, and enough good entrees too. Well crafted margaritas. Appetizers can be a bit slow but overall goid ambience and good eats.
Brian Westbay
Great, chic Mexican food and margs - tequila lovers will fall flat on their faces at the selection 🤪 …
Mike Trombley
I really enjoyed the food. The service was excellent and fast. The prices are reasonable. The place specializes in Mezcal and Tequila. Mezcal is a unique liquor with a wonderful smoky taste, it can be difficult to find. They make a wonderful Mezcal mule.
Monet Kumazawa
A little price-y but the serving size definitely suffices for the cost. Love the seating and lighting inside, a calm spot on a busy 12th Ave.
Justin Almeida
Barrio has some great food offerings and fun cocktails. Upper scale Mexican fusion at a price that won't kill your wallet. I've had hit and miss experiences with the waiting staff; most of the time they're spot on. I highly recommend the chili pepper infused mescal and the seafood stuff chilies. Nom nom!
JB McDaniel
Nice decor, great tasting fresh food! Good for our group of 8. They serve food late (after 11pm on a Saturday night), and have a wall of candles!
Christy Davis
Atmosphere seriously pops here, for for a swanky occasion or a casual Sunday brunch. Best guacamole on Capitol Hill, delicious drinks, and if you’re branching, get the pork belly benedict!
Jennifer Peters
I’ve had incredible service every time I’ve visited. The last time we were there-I believe her name was Tara- she was so sweet and helpful and the food was amazing! Highly recommend!
Miguel Rivera
The food here is made with love and care. You can tell that the food is fresh and made in house. The pork belly tacos are a must try along with the beet tacos if you love veggie food.
Hazel Stone
I had to try this highly recommended restaurant for the food and the views, and it was definitely worth it. So far, this is the most unique, affordable, delicious restaurant I have ever worked with.
Matt Coin
I love this place and it has plenty of options for vegan / vegetarians. The guacamole is great.
Ritvin
Very cool private seating near the bar and fantastic food. Nice setting too
Kate Rousu
The chips and guacamole are addictive! The atmosphere is really cool too, I love the wall of candles although don't envy whoever has to light all of them. One last note - from a creme brulee connoisseur, the Barrio creme brulee is hard to beat
Katie Morgan
This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Seattle. The food, service and atmosphere are consistently excellent. Also, the cocktails are fantastic--I recommend the margarita or mojito.
Ray Zhong
Chicken chilaquiles is super good!
Kenneth Wright (Ken)
A great find! Loved the guac! Only down side for me was that I ordered nachos and it was very similar the the chips and salsa they brought at the beginning of the meal.
Nikolas vasquez
Fried chicken tacos? 🔥🔥🔥
Chorizo tacos 🔥🔥
Carnitas 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love this place and it’s great selection of tequilas and mezcals.
Rich Lazar
Good place for modern American Mexican food. Can get really crowded so reservations are recommended. Drinks a very good and they have a decent selection of mezcal and tequila.
Erik Yates
Great service and delicious food. A little loud for a late lunch ("brunch") on a Saturday, but a solid choice.
Daniel Rincon
A bit upscale for mexican food, but the food tastes great. Their special for tacos in great. Prawn tacos surprised us, highly recommended!
Eric Schmitt
Probably current favorite dine in Mexican so far in Seattle. Enough variety in the menu to want me to keep coming back, and a huge mezcal selection as well.
Rebekah Furey
Keep coming back to this place for consistently great food and service. Happy hour players and drinks are great. Dont use the knocker on the front door though, they always hate that.
Lauren F
Great drinks and solid food. Usually can snag a seat relatively easily, and plenty of space. Their brunch in particular is super!
Zwegchen
Really good food. Sat in the small patio for brunch on a Saturday. Well priced drinks and lots of yum food. We'll go back fer sure
Angela Reed
One of my favorites on Capitol Hill! This place doesn't serve bad food ever. The service is always good or great and the pour on the beverages is nice.

Sonya Sparrow
Amazing food, amazing drinks, beautiful decor, and friendly staff. I highly recommend the Oxtail and the Mezcal Mule. This is peak Seattle foodie heaven.
David Nguyen
Ambiance and chips are solid...though there are some areas of improvement.
The food is mediorcre at best and cuts a lot of corners. Amateur food doesnt work wit my tryin to impress my gf. Flavors are mostly the same and items Were overly masked by sauce or dressing or both..heavy parmesean on everything. Techniqe and ingrediants noted from the menu disconnected to the actual food. For instance, pulled chicken was actually diced up chicken breast. Buttermilk chicken were salty deep fried strips accompanied by buttermilk sauce. Roasted beet tacos were beets straight from the fridge and cold. Not roasted.
I will revisit though and hopefully it will be better.
Candice Landry
Nice happy hour deal. The wait staff were very friendly and accommodating! The tacos were tasty.

Excellent hour hour. Mezcal mule though they use a cheap Fountain ginger beer that's too sweet. Request them to switch it out with the bottled version.
Jocelyn Wang
Great food, awesome place for first/second dates; cocktails though...let's just that I don't have the best luck @ this restaurant..
Michael Leslie
