Reviews of Archipelago
Mark Galiza
This was the best dining experience I ever had. Food was amazing in every way and the staff was super friendly. I really enjoyed the storytelling from Kuya Aaron and the rest of the crew; listening to them talk about their own personal experiences growing up as Filipino Americans and how it influenced the dishes they made for the night. I highly recommend dining at Archipelago. I came out of this dining not just super full, but also super inspired to learn even more about the culture, also being a Filipino American. Thank you to the Archipelago Staff for the amazing work you guys are doing to the community.

Easily one of if not the best tasting menus in the greater Seattle area. Not only was the food phenomenal (as expected) but the overarching narrative and course design really put this dining experience over the top. Chef Aaron and team really have something special going on here, so definitely try to find a spot if you can! (Also 100% recommend the non-alcoholic juice pairing, was super fun and very well crafted!)

Archipelago… how to even start with such a magnificent experience? The food was unbelievable. Each dish was an experience alone. The scents, tastes, and presentation of each dish transported you to a place and time, where culture between two worlds met. The delivery of this unbelievable dining experience was so effortlessly executed in a restaurant that felt, with the welcoming chefs and crew, like being invited into someone’s home. Stories of Filipino loved ones and their journeys to and from the Pacific Northwest influenced each dish. It was an absolute treat to say the least.
Julia “Foodie” Moon
Absolutely amazing culinary experience. The food was fabulous, the service on point and we even got a history lesson with every course. The wine paired perfectly with the food as well. You don't leave super full but you also don't leave hungry. The restaurant only sits 12 and the staff does a quick refresh of the bathroom after each use - towels, etc. Definitely worth the 6 month wait.

This is the kind of dining experience that whets the appetite of wanderlust, makes you want to know more, see more, do more, and be more. The food is quite simply, outstanding, but the service, spirit, and stories are breathtaking. If you get the opportunity to be welcomed home into Archipelago, jump for the chance. We cannot wait to come back and are so grateful and humbled that we got the chance to experience this place during our trip to Seattle. What a gift.

I truly enjoy the storytelling aspect and the effort to tie each dish to a Filipino figure. However, I was a little disappointed with the food... The appetizer was delicious, but the main course (some noodle dishes) was bland and the transition between dishes felt incoherent.
Was the overall experience worth $600? I don't quite think so.

Incredible dining experience! The food was inventive without being unapproachable. We really felt like we were welcomed into the family and understood the purpose behind each dish. Menu is seasonal and super local. Worth the investment. Reservations required.

Great dinner experience overall, the highlights were the courtesy of the staff and the well curated experience, including the interesting nuggets of Filipino-American history (although at times only vaguely related to the food, and I personally prefer to hear more about how the dishes are conceived and the ingredients chosen). The cozy setting (only 12 seats) is a plus, but overall the atmosphere is not at the level of a fine dining experience (for example, guests have to wait outside in the street before seating at the table or counter). The food is very good and definitely worth trying at least once. However, some dishes are fairly ordinary (e.g. the wok-fried noodles and the lechón were good but definitely not unique, and the salmon croquette appetizer was underwhelming). The price is fair when considering the service level, reduced number of seats, and the 10 course menu. Overall, a better atmosphere and some more effort to make the dishes unique would certainly take this place to 5 stars.

Excellent food, great stories, perfectly sized portions. Not a lot of diversity in the guests dining but your mileage may vary. If you can get a reservation here definitely do it. Very cozy and comfortable seating alongside a very attentive staff that makes the space very workable.
I would consider this place equivalent to a 2 star Michelin restaurant. While it's not as extravagant as Canlis, the close comfort and personal correspondence with the Chef throughout the meal is a big highlight.

First time dining at Archipelago. It was quite the exceptional experience and unexpectedly educational. While I enjoy and have experienced many tasting menu experiences over the years, I can't think of many that eclipse this one. One part upscale filipino dining, one part immersion in warm filipino culture, and another part an omage to filipino history related to the PNW. Very creative dishes with flavors rooted in traditional filipino fare. Impeccable service and an unusual level of engagement with the team really sets this experience apart. Located in a cozy space, the atmosphere while very open, felt intimate at the same time. I was initially turned off by plexiglass seperating the kitchen from the patrons sitting at the counter, however after understanding the role the historical pictures hanging from the plexiglass played in telling the story throughout the evening, it became less obstructive. That being said, the plexiglass is the only thing I would change. The restaurant only seats 12. 8 at the counter and then a single 4-top table. I highly recommend. Very pricey, but worth it for a special dinner.

Great food. Unusual local AVA wine pairings. Massive portions.
Interesting stories from each of the chefs added local Philippines history & emotions to each course
Highly recommend sitting at the chefs counter to watch the food prep

Do not miss out on this team of superb culinary talents! Future Michelin Star restaurant right here, I’m telling you!!! There’s a reason why their reservations sell out within an hour of opening online!
The owners and staff at Archipelago have beautifully mastered what it means to have a real dining *experience* — from start to finish you will feel like you’ve stepped into a luxury resort with the way you’re treated in their very special space. You get to learn about the Filipino/a culture and what it means to be from the Philippines.
Their food is very unique and very flavorful. You’ll be licking the plates and bowls… and no judgment here as I’ll be doing the exact same! ;)
Anna was by far the best server I’ve ever had! That’s not to say the entire staff wasn’t also wonderful, but she has a very special ability to connect with guests quickly, establishing trust and creating a more relaxing atmosphere.
She was so affable and knowledgeable — it was such a joy every time she came around to check on us or give us more information on our juice pairings, answer any questions we have, et cetera.
I hope to see her again at future dinners & I’m glad she was persistent with joining the team because she absolutely brings her warm-hearted nature to the table! It did not go unnoticed with how passionate she is about the restaurant and the vision of the team. We really look forward to every experience we may get to have here!

What an incredible dining experience! I never imagined Filipino could be brought to such a high level. Well done, Chef Aaron and the entire staff at Archipelago!!!
Tobias Kahn
A fantastic dining experience no doubt about it! I can’t remember ever having a fine dining experience with so much heart and soul, and not even a smidge of pretentiousness. What a wonderful staff! Every dish was delicious and most were truly unique. However, it was very, very expensive. If you’re in a position where the price fits in your budget without too much pain, don’t walk, run. If this feels like an absolute splurge… you probably want to think twice.
Annie
The kind staff, story-telling, and delicious food made for a very memorable night - it was a privilege being able to experience Archipelago.
The thing that impressed me the most was how the owner ran the restaurant -- he treated every member of his staff with respect and care. I loved how almost every team member got a chance to speak to each of the courses. He also leads by example, and was the first one to jump into cleaning the bathroom. It was inspiring to witness this humble and inspiring leadership style in the kitchen.
No wonder you get such a positive vibe from all the staff. Amazing!
Mark Horoszowski
Without question, this was the best fancy dining experience my wife and I have ever had. Beyond incredible food, the story told through the food and the incredible hospitality of the staff makes this a restaurant without comparison. Thank you archipelago for a wonderful evening that will not be forgotten!!!

It's not only the food, but also the entire experience. The food is so great, creative, authentic and unique. Hats off and hands down to that. You will know exactly where all of the ingredients in your dishes come from (locally sourced of course). You will learn about the cultural history from the dishes, and who created them and how they were creted. You will also have a chance to speak personally to chef Aaron and Amber, the designer of the restaurant about the journey to their passion. The whole experience is so unique that you can hardly find elsewhere. We love all of the little details like how they represent the dishes, have hooks to hang your coat right underneath your seat, small shelf to store your phones, the way they fold the menu and send a thank you favor; everything shows that they put their heart and soul into what they do to create a perfect experience for you.
The restaurant is open at the EXACT time on your reservation. It's a small nice place for only 8 people. Very intimate!!!! Parking is easy. We love it so much and I am glad to take my husband here on his birthday.
Thanks Aaron and Amber for an awesome evening!!!

Archipelago's team is undeniably talented—particularly the head chef, Aaron—and the splash they've been able to make with such an exclusive restaurant (only ~24 seatings available per day) is impressive. I dined at Archipelago during winter and found much to appreciate, particularly the atmosphere and service. I told the the team I couldn't handle spicy food, and they made me a "mild" version of one of their magnificent juices. They're very kind, and very devoted to customer experience. I have no doubt that the restaurant will continue to evolve and improve.
With all that said, I found the restaurant to be slightly rough around the edges in a few dimensions, particularly for the prices they charge. I understand that they want to pay their team a living wage and work mainly with small, local farms, all of which is wonderful, but I'm guessing that the high prices are partly (mostly?) the result of the exclusivity of the meals rather than the ethics of their supply chain. You pay for the intimacy, which is a key element of the restaurant's ethos—it's fine dining reimagined as a community (read: familial) activity, with everyone crowded around a kitchen island. (One dish even came with "seconds"--a terrific idea.) While I enjoyed this, I felt that more of the cost could have wound up on my tastebuds, so to speak. None of the dishes were outright duds but some were aggressively unmemorable. (Others, I must hasten to add, were incredibly delicious.)
This culinary inconsistency was mirrored by the restaurant's politics. In addition to being a restaurant, Archipelago wants to be a concept—throughout the evening you hear speeches and see pictures related to the Filipino experience in the US (with emphasis on the Pacific Northwest). These stories were often fascinating, but were just as often only tangentially related to the food. Some, in fact, seemed to be intentionally opaque—almost academic. An example: a particularly weak connection was made between the history of condensed milk in the Philippines and Alex Tizon's excellent article "My Family's Slave"—Tizon's family immigrated to the US in the same year that the Carnation company started exporting dairy products to Asia. Aside from this chronological coincidence, there is no further relationship between these ideas, which are plenty rich on their own. I was left wondering why they were reachingly juxtaposed. Curiously over-intellectualized moments such as these distracted from the staff's generosity of spirit and the down-to-earth nature of the dishes.
The phrase that comes to mind in summary is, tellingly, an academic cliché: Archipelago is not afraid to "problematize" its menu. It is strange to find oneself attempting to suss out the delicate politics of the immigrant experience while eating a comfort food...but perhaps this somewhat alienating "work" is part of the point, especially for white patrons. I have nothing but respect for this, but I hope that with time the execution becomes more elegant, and seams in the craft don't show quite as readily. On the whole, I was grateful for the opportunity to see what this very promising group is up to.
Jeff
Incredible food, chefs explained each course to us, the history behind the dish, the modifications to make it with all local ingredients. It was an amazing experience and I walked away from it not only satisfied from the meal but feeling like I had tapped into a part of the community around me that I did not know that much about previously.
Tricia Ramos
Follow their social media so you know when reservations open and book one immediately! Food, service, and ambience were amazing. My friend and I want to go back at least once per season.
Bode Champagne
We visited archipelago for the spring tasting menu as a group of four and were seated at the one dining table which was placed nearly as close to the kitchen as the chef’s counter. I would recommend this seating option for those dining in a four person group as it was easier to hold a conversation. The meal itself was inventive, thoughtful, and unpretentious. One of the better Seattle fine dining experiences we have had, strongly recommend! Kudos to the Archipelago team for crafting an experience that felt unique!
Gabe O'Leary
The most incredible dining experience that I've ever had, far superior to many Michelin star restaurants I've dined at. The food was incredible and the the narrative around each dish was illuminating. I learned so much about Filipino culture & Washington over the course of the meal. The team was so friendly, I felt like I was dining in someone's home. The tailor made dish was such a nice touch...there is nothing worse than leaving a many course meal having eaten so much you feel ill.
Lucky to live 10 minutes up the street, we'll definitely be back.
Chris Rosenlof
Wonderful experience full of amazing food, intriguing stories, and a great staff! Well worth a visit for any occasion
Laura Tams
The person that gave this place a three-star review clearly loves Applebee's. Anyway, this place lives up to all of the hype. The food was ridiculously wonderful, the hospitality was absolutely next-level, and the storytelling and history that came along with each dish made our evening unforgettable.
I have never had such a dazzling dining experience in my life. So, so worth it.

What a unique experience! Definitely one of our Seattle Trip’s highlights! We’ve never experienced Filipino food like this - fancy, decorative, delightful, complex, creative. Highly inspired menu with homemade juices and select wine pairings. Well worth the cost and the reservation waitlist. We would do it again this weekend if they had reservation openings.

We ordered our Balikbayan box and picked up our box Archipelago. The chef spoke with us to give us a rundown. He was great at pointing out what items are veggie friendly for my SO, even included some extra produce.
Everything was so great. The presentation stands out, and they try to reduce plastic as much as possible. The box is so great, all the produce was beautiful, lots of fun sauces, and some snacks. Our favorite part was learning about the ingredients from the included info. Its so insightful to understand not only what this ingredient is, but also how it relates to Filipino immigrants coming to PNW.
Lastly, the food. We were treated to a 3 course dinner, 2 mains. The instructions included were very helpful in getting a handle on things. Cooking wasn't very complex but your milage may very, I used to work in kitchens. Four dishes. Farmer Gem Salad, Sourdough Noodles with veggies. Roasted Squash, Turnips, Potatoes in a black garlic adobo sauce. Finally, large fillet of brined Halibut. Everything was delicious, new, and exciting. This is such a nice blend of Fillipino and PNW cuisine.
We had leftover for days! And still have veggies to cook. Enjoyed this very much, thank you for this awesome experience.

Very unique dining experience! Delicious, modern take on traditional, Filipino home dishes. Service is done with such precision and includes story telling, that the experience becomes a show.

The passion of the team at Archipelago is obvious and I really appreciated the attention to detail. They make it a point to feel like you're at home with them, go out of their way to provide a good experience, and care very deeply about sharing their cultural identity through a shared food experience.
The presentation of each course is inarguably the most thoughtful of any restaurant I've been to in the PNW. My palette didn't seem to be a match for the flavor profiles of some courses though, unfortunately.
I totally get caring about people but the fact that a business still has plexiglass barriers and takes your temperature at this stage of the pandemic doesn't seem to be based on reasonable science, screams wokeism, and doesn't really resonate with me at all.
Laurel Kokaska
I wouldn't so much describe Archipelago as a restaurant, because it's much more like culinary storytelling. The nights' menus are a unique appreciation of Filipino heritage and foods, through the lens of the Pacific Northwest. The unassuming storefront gives way to an intimate interior where you can't help but engage with those joining you for the seating. The staff were delightful and attentive, and the bites surprising (and filling! The team's thoughtfulness shines through even in the way they ensure that you leave satisfied). If it sounds like I'm fawning over Archipelago, it's because I am and it's well-deserved. This was our first dining adventure in two years and it was well worth the wait. A thank you to Aaron, Amber, and their team for making it a wonderfully memorable evening.
Robin Kothari
Simply the best dining experience I've had in Seattle. I've been to many of the usual suspects of fine dining in Seattle (e.g., Canlis), but Archipelago just blew my mind. The food was absolutely phenomenal and they are able to accommodate almost any dietary restrictions, dislikes, or allergies. My meal was vegetarian, for example.
Tim
We had the best dining experience at Archipelago. Every course was tasty and well presented. The wine pairing was amazing, and the staff were extremely attentive. We went to Archipelago twice already and will most certainly be back!
Ardith Daly
Incredible dinner and experience! The staff and owners are so kind and so enthusiastic about the food and the stories. It was special to see (and taste!) what Archipelago creates to celebrate history and roots and community. We will be back!
Kelly Weaver
We loved Archipelago! Thanks for making the vegetarian meal for one of our party. Start to finish, dinner was wonderful.
Anna Bader
Amazing food and loved the history and story telling that went along with each dish. It was a very special experience and the 4 of us very much enjoyed our time.
Laura Muñoz
Best meal experience of my life! If you can possibly manage to get a reservation, just go! 10000% worth the price. I won’t ruin the surprises!
Keara King
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had! The amalgamation of the variety of detailed dishes, phenomenal team and homage to Filipino tradition and history was extraordinary. The opportunity to experience Filipino American food in such a captivating way was moving. An absolute must go!
Julie McQuary
Hands down one of my favorite dining experiences in Seattle. Their team obviously puts a lot of heart, love, and history to their food and you really feel that during your visit. We learned so much about Maria Orosa and the invention of banana ketchup (I still don’t why Seattle bars haven’t caught on Jufran yet). Such a memorable evening, can’t wait to go back again in the future and taste what their team has cooked up!
Jeff Minard
Creative, original, and fun. Small and intimate experience.
The wine pairing is almost 100% natural wine/skin contact white so if that’s not your jam just order a glass of whatever you prefer!
Erin Cartas Espinel
Just WOW! I've been 3 times and each time has been special and delicious. They pack so much flavor into each bite. And their pan de sal is what bread in heaven would taste like. The service is wonderful; like being welcomed by friends. One the most amazing parts is that they take food allergies AND aversions into account. And they don't just remove an ingredient. They replace it with something just as (if not more) tasty. Love this place.
andy luley
This was one of the best meals I have ever eaten! Not only was the food delightful, the service was phenomenal, and the stories behind the courses were thoughtful and interesting. The attention to detail in every part of the course preparation and presentation was amazing!
They require proof of vaccination and the entire staff is vaccinated, so I felt comfortable being inside.
Herakles Li
Came here to celebrate a birthday and had a wonderful time! It was hard booking a reservation as they fill up fast, I had to set a reminder and jump on the website within the first 10 mins reservations opened and I was apparently still the last slot for that evening. The entire booking calendar was filled out within a few hours.
As for the dinner itself it was quite an experience! We wound up with the table as opposed to the chefs counter which was a minor disappointment as the space is quite small and in fact we were the only ones at a table vs the counter which was seated higher than us and made for a slightly awkward 'kids table' feel. That said the staff made us always feel included with how they addressed us as well as the counter group in all the stories and conversation and this feeling didn't last very long once the food started coming out.
Dinner was a total of about 9 courses including two desserts. Each course came with it's own story, something tied to the food itself or an association to a piece of pacific northwest culture or heritage. The staff also hung up different pictures for each course to help frame the story they shared.
In terms of food, everything was delicious. With a seasonal menu it probably isn't very informative to talk about specifics but for the fall menu they had one of the best bites of bread I have had in recent memory, two stunning fish dishes. (I caught myself licking the rock one of them was served on...), and the crispiest of pork skins (I can still here the crackle!).
For most people I think they will leave fairly satisfied with how much food they had, they even check in during their last savory course on how hungry you still are to portion out more food for you. If you are more ravenous you may still end up going home and having a slice of pizza and apple pie, but if this isn't your first tasting menu I think this should not come as a surprise if you are that sort of person.
The dinner finished off with a small to go gift of another baked good and a menu to help you remember what you had.
Beyond the food the service and attention to detail was excellent, I appreciate how attentive the staff were, taking the time to check in on us and chat with us about how we were enjoying ourselves and the experience.
From beginning to end the dinner took about 2 hours and I think well worth the price if you consider it an experience as much as paying for just food.
I don't know when I will have a chance to return, (especially given how hard it is to snag a reservation), but I hope to, and will be saving up for that chance again.
TLDR: Great food, great experience. For those looking at Archipelago and wondering if it is worth it - Yes.
Kevin Stambaugh
Overall fantastic experience. This was not a typical meal, it was far superior. The marriage of Filipino culture with Pacific Northwest sourcing made this a unique and memorable experience. The execution was flawless. The food was top notch. I would highly recommend this for any foodie out there!
Mihaela Yordanova
We celebrated my father's birthday at your restaurant last week. I am not just the one who loves the food, but also the whole family. We thank you for serving our food hot. We are so satisfied with the overall service. You really made us very happy and contented with your service! Thank you very much, guys!
Thane Belnap
Wonderful new restaurant with a warm and inviting atmosphere. All 10 courses were excellent with great flavor and fun inspiration behind the dish. Attention to detail can be found in everything. The ingredients were all sourced from the Pacific Northwest, each course was plated with care, and small details like how each course was served had all been carefully thought about. Aaron and Amber did a great job tying the experience together and making the night about so much more than just the food.
Glaude Grant
The extraordinary dining experience starts with a welcoming greeting and ends in an elegant bow.
Lindsey Scully
Hands down one of the most amazing meals I've ever had. We did the wine pairing option and the pairings were great. The level of detail for every dish was amazing. Extremely nice chefs and staff, I can not recommend this restaurant enough.
Inshiya Clarke
Charming couple. We actually know them from our local coffee shop but never knew they were in the restaurant business. If you haven't made your advance reservations yet, don't wait. Get in while you can.
At Archipelago, it's not just about an exquisite dining experience. It's also about this amazing couple's journey, their heritage, and their appreciation of the local culture, nature, and how we give back to the world. Each dish comes with a story; one deeper than the origins of the food or the farmer. It's more about what the food means to them. How it should speak to you. And how it honors their culture, the nature, and our relationship to the world.
Such amazing care is taken to prepare the food. Everything from the tiny herb scissors, precise mini tongs, and gorgeous platters including rocks and stones they collected themselves!
The dishes are well balanced and they ensure they offer the most fresh and unique options. They literally go to the farms to forage.
Ok, I can say much more but I need to book our next visit! Enjoy! And write a review! This place is WELL WORTH THE PRICE AND TIME.
Congrats to Amber and Aaron. You did it.
Jefferson Teng
Archipelago is easily in my top 3 restaurants in Seattle. Every part of the experience was thoughtful - the reservation process, welcome, plating, cooking, storytelling, serving, etc.
Tonight was my first time here and I’ve already decided to take my parents, my brother, and anyone who visits from out of town.
This is a special restaurant. Aaron, Amber, Casey - thank you.
Caitlin Klask
I ordered the vegetarian Balikbayan box after reading the UW Magazine articles about Archipelago. It was such a rare and special experience to enjoy several extravagant meals + bonus local produce after months of avoiding restaurants. My partner and I rarely ever eat at 'fancy' restaurants - we just don't see the value in the experience as we're happier and more comfortable at a local dive. But the accessibility of taking the ingredients home and preparing them personally, partnered with the care and cultural importance that went into preparing the box made this experience well worth the cost. Like the morel mushrooms for example. Despite being from the Midwest, I've never eaten morels before, and I typically would've dismissed it as an overpriced and overrated food that's just not for me. But when I opened the Balikbayan box and read through these recipes, reading where Archipelago sources their produce, enjoying the stories of their family recipes, it felt like I was being welcomed into a new tradition. Morels are really good, actually. Also we ate the cake before even fully unpacking the box. That was incredible cake.

If I could give this place a 6th-star I would. Perhaps the best and most unique dining experience I've ever had. This couple has put together such a deliberately designed offering with a story/history lesson behind nearly all the dishes they present. And the food... Every course was a 10. I look forward to going back!
Jephthah Liddie
fantastic food, amazing service, and genuinely educational. can't wait to go back.
Jamila Silver
A thoughtfully curated and delicious meal. This meal was intentional with no pretension. I learned so much about Filipino history, culture, and of course, food. Aaron and Amber have done an amazing job of connecting everything to the region and the season. It was worth the price and I can't wait to go back!
Jared Wolff
Much more than just great food, Archipelago is a fun and creative dining experience. Aaron and Amber are incredible hosts with impeccable attention to detail. And like, seriously - the food is just bonkers.
Nicholas Wolfram
One of Seattle's finest dining experience. From the food itself to the passion and narrative with which is was served, this is one of the greatest choices you could make for Seattle fine dining.
Joseph Garner
Best in the Northwest! I take my wife here, and she's the happiest girl on the planet. The take-out is good, but I sure miss the experience of dining in. I can't wait until they open again for full service.
Helene Christensen
A wonderful culinary experience! This was such a delicious, special and warm evening with incredible flavors. Book a dinner with someone you love, and go treat yourself to a marvelous dining experience. Thank you, Archipelago

Spent about $285 per person for a 10 course meal.
Definitely was a great experience and we appreciated all the attention to detail not only on food, service, but overall the storytelling experience.
It was a bit of an impulsive visit as we had been on the waitlist.
They open exactly on time and the resturant is cozy but comfortably fits about 12 diners.
Overall, would recommend!
