Reviews of The Bayou
David Studinski
A must-visit when I'm in town. Attentive and personable service. Great beer list for draft and even more so with bottles. Hearty portions left us full and happy. We doubled up on gumbo and main dishes, with enough to take home for another meal.

I highly recommend visiting The Bayou. The atmosphere is great, the staff is spectacular, the food is delicious. My husband and I went here for a date night and couldn't have been happier with the experience. Our waiter Rob was friendly, fast, and had great recommendations. My husband kept commenting even after we left about how impressed he was with the staff. The eggnog
cheesecake was such a yummy treat so if you're there around the holidays and it's available give it a try. Great Cajun food in the heart of SLC. Just know that you have to be 21 or older to enter. The parking lot is small but we didn't think that was a big deal. 10/10 recommended.

An absolutely delicious place for a heartwarming, belly-filling good meal. I got their gumbolaya and had a local beer, too. The meal came with sweet potato fries, as well as original. The place was fairly big, with enough seating for a family get-together. The atmosphere was nice, and the service was quick. I will definitely be back for another meal when I'm in Sakt Lake City.

Delicious Cajun restaurant right in SLC! Definitely a hidden gem. We really enjoyed our dishes and will be coming back! Heads up- not a restaurant for kids. You must be 21 or over to get in!
Anthony M.
Can't wait to go back! Everything was delicious and the staff was amazing. Top that off with the amazing flavor combos on a huge menu and you feel like you're in heaven.
Kristen Nelson
The energy was palpable the moment we walked in! There was an excellent selection of beers, bottled and draft, with the convenience an an online site to view their whole inventory. I was really impressed with their menu of nonalcoholic cocktails, mixed, and canned. The food was good, we were running behind for a previously scheduled engagement, so we didn't get to enjoy it as much as we would have liked, but overall it was a pleasant experience and we'll be back!
Tim Luke
WOW! I’ve had excellent Cajun food many times before, but I have never had every dish brought to the table take my breath away. They really hit it out of the park. The Gumbolaja is delicious and spicy. The Cajun seafood balls melt in your mouth. Portions are big and you might want to share.
Service was amazing even with a skeleton staff on Sunday. Very welcoming.
Cindy Baker
We were in town for a few days to visit and with the reviews given thought to give a try. It was amazing!! I had the chicken fried chicken and not only was the chicken good, but the country style gravy tasted delish- it went great with the mashers and vegetables...oh, go with an appetite because the portions are huge. 👌 A side note; the Cajun half chicken and Bayou Fishplate catfish you can't go wrong either 😋
Tia Brinkerhoff
Always delicious. Friendly service. Amazing cocktails and a plethora of beer choices from around the world. I also appreciate that during the pandemic they required vaccination records for entry! (I am a medical professional and work with Immuno compromised patients) We felt safe to go out when risks were high.
Liz McFarland
Loved our server the most out of the whole experience. Very knowledgeable, fast and friendly. Food was super fresh and flavorful without being overloaded with spices. Tables were spaced nicely apart with plenty of rooms while still being pretty packed full of guests.
Anthony Horrocks
The beer selection was out of this world. Great service and perfect atmosphere, if you are looking for nice but casual. It is 21 and over only. That was perfect for us. It has been awhile since we were able to go out with no kids. Utah needs more 21 and over establishments like this one.
Michelle Walker
The food and service here was great. We will definitely be back. We had the jumbilya and the seafood balls. Both were delicious. The salad that came with it was weird as it was just greens and ranch with one large crouton. The ranch was good though. (On a side note: The parking was extremely difficult to get out of. The spaces are at an angel but you cannot exit out the other side. I'd highly recommend making them perpendicular spaces.)
Justin Stinnett
Wow, what a wonderful place. The food and service was wonderful. It was also the most at ease I've been in SLC given they are requesting all patrons show proof of vaccination. We could truly relax. I wish other business would take the same stance given the relatively low rate of vaccination in Utah. Thank you Bayou!

My husband ordered the gumbo and of course I had to try it. I was skeptical of ordering my own because I grew up with my dad spending hours in the kitchen, making the rue just right for our family gumbo nights.... I was worried it wouldn't be good and leave a bad taste in my mouth. Boy was I wrong! Not only was this gumbo delicious but it tasted so much like my dad's, it brought me right back to my childhood. I actually started to tear up while eating it. I've never had that kind of reaction to food before. Thank you Bayou for bringing back some beautiful memories of my youth!
Kevin Resinger
This place is a really fluid environment.
The staff has a wide range of personalitys and that is our favorite part.
They are all so amazing and friendly and knowledgeable of the menu from our experience and I'm speaking only in our experience.
The food is good.
The mixed drinks, Well, they can use a little work,
But still very interesting and for the most part, tasty.
I do highly recommend at least trying this place.
I am almost certain you will come back.
TRY IT!!!!
BY THE WAY!
PARKING SUCKS!!!!!!!
DEAL WITH IT!!!

Wow great Cajun food and not in Loisanaa. Atmosphere. Food and Service makes you feel like your in the Bayou. So restaurant is aptly named. For $10 the Fried Crawfish appetizer is the best price vs quality food I have ever had. The Crawfish with Catfish filet was amazing. At bar most people are locals or have worked here before which says a lot about the restaurant. I only ate here once and want to come back. Also, covid safe restaurant checking your vaccinated before entering. Everything is great here.
McKenna Cross
This place is so great! Fun southern charm, great service and the food was good and the prices were so reasonable. Our favorite was just the simple sautéed crawfish that we ordered as a side with melted butter. My husband and I almost ordered another one but were too full! We will definitely come back!
Steve Paulson
Big fan of this place. Wide beer selection obviously, and the Cajun food is really good. The Gumbolaya is outstanding! I'd encourage expanding the whiskey selection, but always happy to hit the Bayou!
Chrissy L
This restaurant was great! We ordered the Crawfish Etouffee and the Gumbo (takeout). Very authentic taste, considering my mom's family is from New Orleans. Highly recommend!
Nicholas Fougerousse
I absolutely cannot praise this place enough. The gumbo is fantastic, the Corpse Reviver #2 is always on point, and the staff is great.
Best Cajun food I've found around.
Samuel Arena
Good scenery. Clean restaurant. Parking was tight.
The jambalaya was quality. If you’re traveling to SLC and want some Cajun food, here’s a decent spot for you.
Scott Stringham
Another wonderful meal accompanied by stellar service from Wendy! She’s friendly, super knowledgeable, and quick with a wisecrack…couldn’t ever ask for better.
The Bayou, for so many reasons, remains one of my family’s favorites. Thanks!
J. Todd Hubbard
It's a bar with an astounding amount of beers available, but I do not drink. However, it is a GREAT place to have some good Cajun food.
No reservations needed\taken, so arrive early as it's first come\first served.
Wife & I ordered the Bayou lemonade, cranberry ginger punch, 50\50 fries (regular & sweet potato), crispy ravioli, popcorn crawfish, alligator cheesecake, a side of fried catfish, ahi tuna tacos w\ gumbo & the fried Twinkies.
First, the alligator cheesecake. It's not a cheesecake, more like a quiche or a light & fluffy bread. Interesting texture and delicious. Would order again.
50\50 fries: the fries of both kinds were cut & cooked perfectly. Most SP fries are cut too big and undercooked, but these are great and exquisitely crispy. The sauce is a perfect complement to the fries; kind of a Utah fry sauce, but with a Cajun kick.
The crispy ravioli were different than I imagined, but delicious. Cheese stuffed, lightly deep fried and then baked, I think? The tomato dipping sauce was a great pairing.
The popcorn crawfish and the spicy (yes, every has a spicy component. It IS Cajun.) sauce were delicious together.
The gumbo came out before the tacos & maybe I do not know what gumbo is supposed to taste like, but this bowl tasted scorched. I don't know, will have to try again.
The fried catfish was thin & flaky and delicious.
The ahi tuna tacos were different than i was expecting, but that was my own misunderstanding. Still great.
Then the fried Twinkies with a side of ice cream (pictured). Simple, yet delicious. Probably the highest evolution of the delicacy.
My favorites were the fries & the crawfish, but next time we will be trying other dishes. Well worth the 40 minute drive.
Why 40 minutes? They support being vaccinated & we wanted to support people trying to do good.
Bobbi
The Bayou is one of my favorite places. I wish it were kid friendly sometimes so that my kids had fresh food instead of the boxed to go items I get them. They love the fries pictured. They are a meal in themselves. Sometimes parking can be a little tricky but well worth it.
Food portions are large. I've never eaten a whole meal and I can put it down. Items are also very reasonably priced given the seafood options.
Dan Petersen
Great atmosphere and solid menu. Service was good. Had seafood balls and crawfish etouffee. Both were good as was the to go cup of Gumbo. Kind of expected a little more Cajun - spice, kick. Fortunately they had sauces to cover.
Jennifer L
Always love the beer, food & vibes. Beer menus always on point draft & bottled. Service was super quick and the atmosphere is chill and perfect to have a date night!
Luke Durkin
It's a cajun restaurant, therefore it's excellent. As far as cajun restaurants go, this one is certainly not the best. They do have an excellent beer and alcohol selection; I'm told the largest in the city. A lot of the menu items are more American items or Americanized versions of cajun food. Not too many true cajun/creoloe dishes.
Taylor Gardner
Killer service, awesome apps and a huge variety of entree options. But the most impressive part is 100% the beers and cocktails menu. Very kind of pint for every kind of person. Plus the atmosphere is super cool, very upscale southern.
Just know that dinner and a drink may run ya upwards of $25/person. Totally worth it! If you’re not too hungry, just get an app. They’re generous and delicious!
Cordi.Q
Parking isn’t the best. Everything else about the place is amazing! Food is fantastic, the blackened salmon is cooked to perfection! The Cajun pasta is backed with flavor. After a hot day outside the ice cold drinks hit the spot!!!
Food was super fast. Staff was friendly and helpful (for newbies like me that had lots of questions). There are vegetarian options on the menu. The salad that came with my meal was just mixed greens with dressing ( could have used a few tomatoes or something) but the southwest vinaigrette was literally an explosion of flavor!
Matheus Moreira
Awesome bar with great food and a lot of beers. I went to The Bayou on a weeknight with a group from work. The food is very well made and come in big portions, you can easily share a meal. Also, the beer's menu has a lot of beer from around the world, for every taste. If you are in Salt Lake City and like bars with good beers and good food, The Bayou is a must.
Carla Wright
Love this place. I always recommend it to friends that come from out of state. Coming from south Florida, I have a ton of friends from NOLA and they were equally surprised as I was to discover not only Cajun food but crawfish. Came in and grabbed a bowl of gumbo to start and was not disappointed. The gumbo was on point as well as the bread served with it. If you really want up the ante, try their Gumbolaya( gumbo + jambalaya). Spectacular popcorn shrimp and crawfish and HUNDREDS of varieties of beer. My personal favorite (if you ca fit any more food in your stomach after beer and appetizers) is the cornish hen. The skin is spicy and crispy and the meat is well seasoned. If you are feeling adventurous I also recommend their frog legs and alligator cheesecake.
Ken Homan
Been going to The Bayou for about 15 years now and it's definitely my favorite beer bar in Salt Lake. Unbelievable selection of beers from around the world and knowledgeable staff. Can't go wrong with their Cajun style food and 50/50 fries.
Bryan Ross
Very nice and clean. Hostess was a little sarcastic (day shift) waitress was a little over worked but was on top of things well. My food order came out incorrectly but was fixed without attitude.
Nian Liu
A lot of great dishes and the beer selection is amazing! Service is good as always. All around 5 star.
Jason Hunt
Our server was good. Opinions from our group of seven ranged from so-so to fantastic. My salad was pretty average. I was excited to try the Cajun Game Hens but was disappointed. It wasn't very flavorful and was not very moist. I'd go back but would definitely something different.
K Min
Bayou is amazing! The Jambalaya (more spicy) is absolutely delicious! The Fried Catfish with pasta is really really good too. A huge 👍 for the lovely live jazz too. Highly recommend this place! …
Dave C
A long time favorite in the heart of the city. One of the best beer selections around, and for two decades, and food that any place would envy. Lots of seating, easy to walk to, but parking can be a challenge at times.
This is a bar, so over 21 only and ID checks at the door. Drink responsibly.
Michael McGuire
Best place to get a drink in the whole city. Amazing selection unlike any I've seen in a bar before. Food was hit or miss, Cajun pizza was bland but the Gumbolaya was fantastic. Service was prompt and courteous, very helpful with beer selections since the menu can be overwhelming. The whole place was lively and energetic. A great place for a younger crowd to gather
Javier Rivera
Love this place! Had the chance to visit SLC for a few weeks several years back and I spent just about every Friday or Saturday here... had the chance to go again and this was a MUST visit for me. If you are a beer connoisseur or just love to drink beer like that judge once said... this place is definitely for you! The amount of beers choices available is mind boggling. Food was great too. Atmosphere definitely makes you want to come back... which I will as soon as I can!
Chris Uhles
This is really a 4.5 rating as we loved almost everything about our trip, except the chicken fried steak. It was over cooked and WAY under seasoned. HOWEVER, the servers were incredibly attentive and helpful, the beer list is second to none in Utah, and my partner’s gumbo and blackened salmon were very tasty. We’ll be back for sure and update the rating if both meals deserve it!
Robert Kittle
Nice little place to get some Cajun food. I had a fresh salad with excellent zesty balsalmic pesto dressing. The red beans and rice was very tasty and enough for lunch tomorrow at a reasonable price. Yummy cheesecake too. Waiter was pleasant and pretty attentive. All and all a very good experience.
Katie Venn
Great food and atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful. The drinks were large and delicious. Great place if you want to try authentic food from the Bayou.
Andrew Hubble
You don't need my review to know this place is good. 1,500 other people can't be that wrong. Being from the South it's honestly hard to find true southern food West of Louisiana. The Bayou has absolutely nailed it.
We came in at about 11 PM. The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing, live music, and we were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was very kind and knowledgable about the menu. Authentic cajun cuisine. The beer menu is massive. So know what you like unless you want to search forever!!! The portions are fantastically sized and everything came out perfect. We had 2 entrees, 2 alcoholic beverages, and a soda for about $50. So really it's just as fairly priced as any big chain restaurant but way better quality!!! We can't wait to come back!!
Israel Padilla
Always great service, the food was delicious and the beer menu is huge, love that they have their own app
Geoffrey Cates
Food was good, I have to admit I didn't actually get anything too "New Orleans Style" but the food was good and the atmosphere was great. There is a large beer selection for all the beer drinkers out there. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall it was a great experience. They did have several unique things on the menu the only one I got today was the deep fried Twinkies which were good with the raspberry sauce. Not sure if I would get them again though, not a big Twinkies fan.
Brandon Cromer
Best food ever, always crave their gumbo and they have an amazing beer selection.
Scott Sandberg
Fantastic selection of beers available (everything from Sours to Stouts and most things in-between). Tasty food, but I'm not as familiar with Cajun cuisine so take that with a grain of salt. A handful of available parking spots in the lot on the south side of the building and there's street parking available on the streets to the north and south. Great staff, fast service, and nice decor.
Scott Mcgirl
The service was Excellent! !! The bartender knew the menu and all the items how they tasted and what was really good to eat. Great beer selection and they stay open late AWESOME! !! Thxs will always eat here when I come back to Salt Lake City
Maria Diaz
It was effing fantastic! Our server had us dying laughing the entire time and the food was on another planet good. We tried to go through most of the beer list, which is a book btw, but failed. We are going to have to come back multiple times to try to finish that beer list and try some more food.
David Ostrovsky
Good atmosphere, fast service, staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious! We had the alligator cheesecake and gumbolaya, both were excellent, highly recommended. Amazing selection of beers, both local and imported.
Samantha McKenna
Awesome service, fantastic eatery menu with cajun style food (try the gumbolaya, you won't be sorry) and a huge extensive drinks menu, complete with beer that I can't usually find here in Utah, but I regularly had back home in WA state. Open late for food also, which is great because usually the only late night food options around are fast food!
Adam Petersen
This place was a different pace for salt lake. They do Cajun meals with lots of crawfish. They had a live jazz band when we went around 830 pm. It had a very New Orleans feel to it with beads to boot.
Iggy Rolskis
Tried this place from out of state, and was pretty pleased. Place was packed on a weekday, had to wait about 20 minutes for a table even though they had numerous open tables.
They have the largest beer selection I've seen in any bar or restaurant. The food was really good and staff was nice and friendly.
Barbara Dixon
Amazing food and great atmosphere. Quick and friendly staff makes this place really shine and authentic flavors are the icing on the cake. Would definitely recommend.
Kari Ann Haskell
Always a delight. Server Mindy was awesome. They even had my favorite out of state beer. Apps for sure get 50-50 fries, I got the blackened salmon entree and husband got gumbolaya. Both delicious. Even the side salad was great thanks to their house vinaigrette. I highly recommend here. For a quieter visit, come before six.
Bruce Gilbert
Excellent craft beer selection. Good red beans and rice in Salt Lake City is hard to imagine, but they were great. Service was friendly and fast.
Andrew Adair
This place was pretty good! Parking is a little difficult and there aren't many spots. The restaurant seats a lot of people a and we didn't have to wait for a table even though it was really busy. Their beer menu is hundreds of beers long, plus they have some wine and a few cocktail selections. It seemed most people around us drank beer (good call, for a place with this many choices) but those with cocktails all had a martini, so those must be particularly good here, too.
The food was pretty good. We got a starter of fries, and it was a HUGE portion for only 2 people. I got the Cornish game hen and was pleased, and it made good leftovers the next day, too. Dessert (bourbon bread pudding) was just ok. Service was prompt, frequent and friendly.
We liked this place and will be back.
Dianne M McCafferty
Excellent food and friendly service. Jambalaya burrito and gumbo were fantastic. Might have to go back before I leave town!
Nathan Warkentin
They have good desserts here, like deep fried Twinkies. The pork roast I got here was overcooked and too dry though. The service was also good and the people were friendly. Also they have really good broccoli soup.
Anders Tharaldsen
Haven't been here in awhile, now I'm wondering why not? The beer selection is impressive, and the food menu is nice and diverse. The burrito is seriously fantastic (if you like creole food.)
Bob Kittle
The only thing that isn't 5 star is the parking which is limited. Atmosphere is great, service was fast and friendly. Food was outstanding. Gumbo was so tasty, and the red beans and rice was so tasty. I'd recommend this place to anyone.
Rebecca Hendricks
Usually while traveling I expect cheap food at the end of the night. This was far from that. The prices are a bit high but reasonable and the food was amazing. I'd definitely return.
It was obviously a hot spot for a good late night drink, the menu was enormous. Only one in our party had a drink and she said it was very strong.
Rebecca Brown
I came to see if Cajun food in Salt Lake would be any good and I was not disappointed! First off, this is a bar so leave the kids at home and don't forget your ID. If you like savory quiches I recommend checking out the Alligator cheesecake for a creamy/savory appetizer. I got the Crawfish Etoufee with Fried Catfish and the flavors took be back to my experiences in New Orleans and the Southern coastline. (The waiter said it was pretty spicy and I almost didn't order it worrying it would be too spicy but, in my opinion, that dish would be MILD on most other heat scales) Will be back to check out the other entrees.
Greg Clements
Great food with some interesting twists on classic Louisiana dishes. The "gumbolyia" (not sure if i spelled that right) is pretty good in my opinion and with a try.
Adam Ninja
Still one of the greatest places to eat and drink in Salt Lake City. Cajun style kitchen with a ridiculously large beer list. Download the app that also goes with the restaurant and sift through hundreds of beers and ciders. As well as mark off ones you've tried, as well as rank/review them. I recommend the Chipotle hummus, sweet potato fries, Cajun chicken sandwich, and red pepper buffalo mozzarella sandwich.
Jacob V
Amazing food and vibe. Had the gumbo & blackened catfish. The place is very busy and has a wait, but to me that means it’s worth it.
Myke Cecc
Good size food portions, and friendly staff with a lively environment on the weekends
Celia Powell
Great food and service, I only wish the food came out slower. Our appetizer, my soup, and our entrees came out basically all at the same time. Other than that everything was great!
Jenee' Broadnax
I came out on business trip and found this place on Yelp as a hotspot. I ordered the crawfish etouffee topped with a catfish fillet and it was delicious! The Ace sour pear beer was a nice touch to my meal. I love tangy/sweet drinks and for a beer, it had a great taste. If I return to Salt Lake City I will definitely be coming back to eat again 👌😁
Jessica Castaneda
Had a wonderful experience here!
Hidden gem in slc!
I recommend the seafood bites and our Ryann was a rockstar!!!!!
definitely recommend!
Christopher Ward
The Cajun burrito is amazing. There are so many flavors and textures going on here it could be a complete mess, but Bayou pulls it off, the portion size is immense too. The basalmic pesto salad dressing is so different and refreshing it should be a menu item itself. The other party I was eating with really enjoyed their Gumbalaya too.
Kat Brown
Great fun place. Try the alligator cheesecake, it's a fun experience! The salmon burgers are phenomenal!
Charles Cameron
What a great experience. I've been looking forward to eating here for some time. Having been born in New Orleans and raised on Red Beans and Rice I'm always curious to try different interpretations on a classic and The Bayou did not disappoint. Both subtle and flavorful with (almost) just the right amount of spice. On top of that, the staff was attentive and gracious and the atmosphere is lively and full of authentic character. Will be coming back often.
Lisa Todd
The alligator cheesecake was really good. Ahi Tuna tacos left something to be desired, very bland. Deep fried Twinkies we're tasty.
Ginger Woodhouse
This place was pretty good but nothing fancy. My husband's meal came with a side salad, it was just plain lettuce. No croutons, tomatoes, cucumbers...just lettuce with ranch. The spinach dip said it came with crostinis but showed up with tortilla chips and my cajun pasta had a chunk of plain French bread. Would have been better with some garlic bread. The beer menu is awesome and I thought the prices were very fair.
Misty Jensen
I love this place! I don't love the location or parking so I don't go as often as I want. So much good food,my favorite the the Cajun burrito which is the jambalaya in a burrito smothered with the crawfish ettouffe. There are also hundreds of beer options. This time I was in the mood for cider and was suggested the Ace Prickly Pear, ITS SO AMAZING. Was a wonderful night. I recommend this place to everyone I meet.
dan unlisted
Great atmosphere and taste. They have a beer for every palette, something like 513 different beers on hand. I had the gumbo and crawfish etouffee.
Timothy Welke
Great food, fantastic beer, great atmosphere, good service
Definitely a local favorote
Tim Myers
Fantastic beer selection. Hundreds of bottles to choose from. Careful! Some of these are spendy! Friendly service.
Rory Johnson
The food was amazing. I am really happy we stumbled into this place.
Matthew Buccilli
Alright. I'm a big dude. I love Cajun. I was so set for this. I thought, 8 bucks for red beans and rice? Seems like a decent price. Then they bring out the biggest plate of red beans and rice I've ever set my grubby eyes on. I could only make it through half. It was so good, but so filling, and so much. The bayou is amazing, and so worth it.
Lincoln Mead
Addicted to the red beans and rice. Never been able to finish in one sitting but its an awesome leftover at home! (Pictured) parking can be a challenge but worth a walk around a corner to get there.
Mark Harman
1st timer, waitress was wonderful food was great!
Atmosphere was nice alcohol drinks menu is huge
Sara Smith
Everything was great! I definitely would recommend a visit if you haven't been.
Adam Crew
I try to be empathetic but this place was the worst service and food that Ive had in the city. The food was served cold and the bartender barely looked my way.
Jim Lambrick
I've always been a huge fan of the gumbo and it was still good the last time but something's changed and it's not as good as it used to be. Worth an occasional visit at least.
Terri Holland
I love the Bayou. Food is always excellent, fair prices and great service. There is something to eat for everyone.
James Seely
Pretty great food, pretty decent service, loud but fun atmosphere. We go here a lot. Only place in Salt Lake City that I know of to get jumbolyia (no idea how to spell that haha). Best desert is the bread pudding made with bourban. Sooooo good. And they don't cook out all the bourban ;).
Rory Andrus
Let's face it....best Beer selection in Utah and beyond. While the menu is extensive and entrees are all Insanely tasty... the Chef can get creative with combinations you might be personally fond of. I had the blackened salmon on an awesome bed of greens (no iceberg) with Ceaser and Blue Cheese, cranberries, hard boiled eggs and bacon... not on the menu but sounded good and beat my expectations. Shared some gumbo and I was good to go...
Jes C
A hidden gem, amazing food. The archocke dip will likely become my wife's comfort food of choice in the future.
Elkin Caicedo
Yummmmy!!! Gumbo, jambalaya....and awesome beer catalog. This place has everything you need to have a good time. Extremely recommended.
C - Roses
Largest beer selection in UT and wonderfully tasty food and ambiance -- parking is the only troublesome issue if you're coming here on a weekend though
Yuvalak Smith
Food was amazing esp. the Gumbolaya ,not to mention generous portion size. Cocktails were also great my husband and our friends almost tried everything on the cocktail list and it was all interestingly good!
Gregory Davis
Food was excellent but, no parking. Had to park 2 blocks away. Notice other people pull in could not find a parking space drove out and kept on going. Too be honest I almost did the same but, my mother and sister wanted to go there. Drop them off found a parking space and started walking
Scott Harm
All around cool place with what I say outstanding Cajun cuisine. Really glad I stumbled into the place.
Love the decor of exposed masonry and wood framed roof all exposed.
Went on a Tuesday night kind of early and lucked into a stall in their awkwardly "dead end" parking lot (hint). I suspect from some other comments that parking could be a challenge.
I went with a business collegue and we were very much able to carry on a casual conversation even though it did get pretty loud and busy by the time we left.
The whole SLC low alcohol beer content thing is odd but what the hell, I drank a bourbon!
Roque Salas
Wonderful selection of authentic Cajun food. We especially enjoyed the Jambalaya and Shrimp PoBoy. Lots of delicious cocktails, my fave was the Mormon Mule and bread pudding. Definitely coming back to try the muffaleta.
Kathy Wascom
I love a place with a good non-alcoholic option! Food was delicious!
Dan Greiner
Huge selection of beer of all different sorts, the food was good and well portioned as well. Would definitely recommend this as a place to grab a drink/bite to eat.
Nila Sweeney
Deliciously crunchy chicken wings and tasty catfish. Big servings and friendly staff.
Andrew Airmet
First of all, I want to thank the management for putting the safety of their customers and staff first.
That aside, the ambience was great. I loved the decorations. The music was just the right volume to allow me to hear people next to me and not feel like I have to shout to be heard. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great!
Christian mondragon
Huge selection of alcohol, there's usaly live music, good service, food was okay burger fell apart, my gf loved her food and loves coming here
Steve Moorman
The food is delicious.
Gumbo + Jambalaya = Gumbalaya is a must try
The beer selection and bartenders knowledge is remarkable. It would be easy return many times
Shane Butler
Amazing food, great service, and a huge selection of drinks.

Great beer selection and even greater socially responsible establishment. Our go to dining experience especially before a show at the State Room, but also anytime. Great vibe, great service and the fact that that I can dine in safety during a seemingly never ending pandemic is huge. Did you do the right think for yourself, your family, your country, our community and our economy by getting vaccinated? If so this is the place for you!!! It’s definitely the place for me and my community. We go often!! Thank you Bayou for being a community leader during these dark times.
Cade Jensen
Yep, they ask for proof of vaccination to get in. You are greeted at the door and asked for it. We didn’t have it with us so we had to go back to the car to get it. But no big deal. Once we smelled the food we would jump through that hoop to get in. And it was worth it.
If that is too much for you, then you are missing out on a great place for such a mediocre excuse.
We ordered the crispy ravioli (yum), bayou burger (yum yum) and catfish po’boy (yum yum yum). All were delicious. My wife’s burger was well seasoned and juicy to the point that you couldn’t wait else the bun was going to fall apart- which to me is always a good sign. My catfish tasted like catfish- too many other places with catfish on the menu turned out to be disappointing. The 50/50 fries were excellent as well. Dessert was offered to us but we were so full we had to refuse, sadly.
I love creole and Cajun foods, so my only suggestions for improvement would be to spice them up a little more. But it really was good.
The staff was friendly and attentive. And the best part was that the restaurant was full of people having a great time— people who chose to not let a vaccine card check matter to them to the point of refusal.
Looking at the food brought out to others, we knew we had to come back. And we will— again with our vaccination cards if we need to.
Bridgette DelPivo
This place was awesome!! The restaurant is so cool! All brick building. Great bar! There are over 30 brews of beer. They have a drink called Mexican Mule..delicious!
The food was so authentic Cajun food. I had a dish called Gumbolaya which is half Gumbo half Jambalaya. If you love Andouille Sausage, this is the dish for you! It also has Crawfish tails. We also had Blackened Catfish with Cajun Fettuccine. This was the most tender, juicy Catfish. And we also got the Etoufee.
Everything was clean and sanitized. You have to show your vaccination card to get in.
They have a great website. I will definitely be back!
Hernan Garcia
Jambalaya burrito was just as awesome as it sounds. Went with 2 others and they both enjoyed their meals very much as well.
Jeremy Fagergren
With over 400 beers, you'd think the servers would get training, in case customers have questions. But no. Otherwise, the food was really good.
Desone Burns II
Great service, incredible beer selection (tons of local beers), and great food. Had the Gumbalya I believe they called it, and was not at all disappointed. Very friendly vibes.
Saint Dávila
Great food from the Bayou Louisiana Creole style food
Tiffany Ridley
Loved our waiter Rob. Gave great service, has a wonderful friendly personality and helped us choose our drink choices- Red Suzy for me and Blue Moon for my hubby. Blackened Salmon and veggies was good, wings were great. Last but not least, I had to search for my COVID vaccine I go because they are so diligent at the door of keeping everyone safe inside.
Gigi Thorsen
Awesome local spot, yummy Louisiana food, with a HUGE beer list!
Marvin Stephen
Cajun meal in Salt Lake City, was not sure at fish but the meal was very delicious.
Jeff Covington
The experience and meals were top notch. I appreciate their strict vaccine requirements. It's the reason we went here and I was relieved to see them gatekeeping appropriately. The food and drinks were great! Crispy raviolis, salads and seafood were perfectly spiced and prepared to our liking. We'll be going here more regularly.
Elizabeth Salvatore
As always, the Bayou more than delivers on a great atmosphere and food. I've been faithfully ordering their jambalaya for years, but stumbled across their Cajun pasta on my last visit and I've got a new favorite. Guess many return visits are on the horizon. Thanks again for amazing service and food. You guys are fantastic.
Mac Martirossian
Good place to grab dinner and a wide assortment of beers. The gumbo was a bit salty for me. The grilled salmon with mango salsa was good. Service was unobtrusive.
Jordan Hulet
Best food in SLC. Gumbolaya is my favorite food. I just wish they had a smaller serving.
Mary Halloran
Amazing servers and wide selection of beers! I asked about all of the many beers on the menu and the server answered with a smile and extensive knowledge. Food came out fast, drinks were amazing, servers were friendly — what more can you ask for!?! Love it and will be back!
Claylyn Tirrell
Great staff, very welcoming!
Would bring friends and family back here for a good time :)
Hector Gonzalez Custodio
This is a must!!! if you love Beer this is the place to be, a some of the best Local Beer will get you Feeling Hezy..... Chek it out!
Cassie Brood
I've loved The Bayou ever since my first visit 17 years ago. The food is delicious, the beer selection is the best in Utah, and the atmosphere is perfect!
Matthew Phillips
Food was decent, good beer list, good service. Unfortunately in a city that doesn't require restaurants to have a vax passport these guys do. If I weren't traveling a long distance and very hungry I would have walked out rather than flashing my vax credentials but I did and stayed and ate. Will be the last time unless they update their policies.
Sherrie L Miller
Visiting in Salt Lake and found this place. The food was really tasty and large selection of tap beer. Prices are reasonable. I'll be visiting again
Jordan Rosser
The food was absolutely delicious! I had the chicken Cajun Alfredo and the wife had the John Hobbs thing. Both were exquisite. I also love that they require proof of vaccination to safely dine!
We will certainly be going here again!
Maya Collinwood
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious artichoke appetizer :)
Laurel Baeder
Great food, great beer selection. What more could you ask for?!
My personal favorites are the 50/50 fries, fried ravioli, and blackened salmon salad (or sandwich/entree). Service is almost always excellent, with your server able to recommend you a great drink if you're overwhelmed by all the choices.
There is live music some nights, but I've never found it to be a real problem. It usually feels appropriate for the setting.
cory ure
Great food and great beer selection! It's no joke when they advertise their beer selection. The list looks almost like a book, sorted by every different type of beer you could ever want. To go along with the beer selection, I haven't found a food dish that I didn't enjoy. On Friday I had their pizza special which was a chicken cordon blue pizza, and it was phenomenal! Last thing, The Bayou is a great place to try out Epic Brewery's selection. The mark up on Epic's beers is very small, equal to that of the liquor store pricing. I would definitely recommend The Bayou if you want to try out Epic's amazing selection of local beers.
Mike Moore
Finally a place I can eat and not have to worry about tinfoil hat folks.
That aside, I'm not the most experienced with Cajun food, but I've become a fan of it. If you get a chance try the effin delicious cocktail. It lives up to the name. I'm excited to try more on the menu.
Erica Peterson
Oh my!! The food, the drinks, the appetizers, the service! It was all fabulous! A real Cajun experience for sure! The jambalaya and blackened salmon were delectable!
Melissa Haacke
This place is amazing! The food reminded me of home. Catfish and crawfish... Very recommend.
Rental Contacts
We had some of the best service that I've had at any restaurant in quite some time there. The food was excellent and served quickly. One downside to it was the gumbo was too smokey in flavor for us. Other than that, the Cajun fettuccine is awesome as was the blackened salmon. We really enjoyed the Cajun Seafood ball appetizers too. Really hard to fault the selection of beers, either; incredible variety on hand!
GLENN MARSH
It was Friday, the 25th of March. I was jonesing for some Cajun food. I had wanted to go to the Bayou for awhile and today was the day. I originally wanted Jambalaya, and was also craving some Gumbo. To my DELIGHT, they serve a Gumbalaya and it was AMAZING! I also upgraded one of my sides to the Gumbo Soup. Great decision. The Gumbo Soup was good and tasty, but the main course was like a WOW factor. The appetizer of the Seafood Balls was perfect. I could have just ordered 3 of the Seafood Balls and have been in a food coma and LOVED IT! I WILL be going again. Can't wait!
Karen Chin
Excellent food and, above all, gets an A+++ for being a socially responsible establishment in making sure the customers and employees are safe when dining and serving food. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that The Bayou has set an example for other restaurants to follow by requiring proof of vaccination. I don't believe this is a mandate, such as what started in NYC, so that, in itself, makes this restaurant stand out in how much they care about their staff and customers. We had the alligator cheesecake as an appetizer, which I highly recommend as it is a unique savory dish that is tasty and surprisingly light and fluffy. I ordered the crawfish etouffee and my fiance had the jambalaya. Both dishes were excellent and we highly recommend. I lived in New Orleans for grad school and my fiance is from the South so we understand good Cajun food and this is it. The service was great, too.
Jason Allred
The food is OK, but our server seemed indifferent to our presence.
erin mcauliff-brown
Awesome staff, fun friendly atmosphere. The beer is amazing. Food is great. Rob, our waiter needs to be cloned.
Hillary Stirling
Had a great night out with friends tonight! The catfish was amazing and I loved the Moscow Mule mocktail. We had a bit of a wait to get in, but the staff handled it really well. Our servers were attentive and so upbeat. All in all, a wonderful experience!
Zachary Stevens
Heads up! They are requiring proof of vaccination. It does give a nice sense of security when you're inside and the place is packed. I haven't been there in about 5 years but I'm going to add it to the rotation. Food was excellent, beer was delicious, and the service was great.
Stephanie Littlefield
Had the best meal and experience! Everyone was super nice and the food was delicious. I very much appreciate the proof of vaccination requirement, also that they provide a QR code for you to find your vaccination info. It is the most at ease I have felt when wanting to dine out in SLC. Definitely a new favorite place.
Kimberly Hansen-Enniss
I really enjoyed this bar. Comfy feel. Some fun beers to choose from... My friends and I had a blast while we were here!
Calvin Tucker
Great food. SO MANY beers on tap. Great place to get away from kids and go adulting.
Robert Carter
This place always have wonderful food. We wanted to come before COVID but didn’t. When we found out that they require proof of vaccination we instantly came. The service is amazing the staff is wonderful. The food is some of the best in the area. Covid or not, this is a perfect place to relax. I know I am safe and the wait staff even ensures that patrons who have had a bit much gets a safe ride home. They care for the community and staff.
Christina Stinson
I love this place. I didn’t take pictures when I was there but I will next time and I’ll edit this with them. I ordered the shrimp jambalaya and the crispy ravioli- both were fantastic. Great atmosphere, great food. I recommend it to my guests/friends when they ask where to go. 🙂😋 …
N. Shane Cutler
Such a beautiful beer selection and delicious food to pair it with! I recommend getting a po' boy and spending the exta $2 to get a cup of their pure-comfort gumbo. Ask the wait staff for beer advice. They know their stock! And it's such a comfort knowing everyone is vaccinated.
Mills Corales
Great food, friendly staff and an amazing selection of beers and wines.
Buffy “Buffy” Ross
Great food (Cajun style) , great selection of beers, neat TVs menus that show you the latest, strongest, drafts and most popular beers served. Bartenders know their stuff, above average wine selection and hard liquor mix
Robert Deatrick
Great food. Great beer. Great service. Great atmosphere. Going back soon.
Now I've been there twice and I still agree with my first rating, except I took one star off because I noticed that both times I was there when I tried to order a beer they were out of stock. I had to try 3 different selections before I landed on one that they actually had.
I thought it was remarkable that they have over 100 beers on their menu, but now I'm thinking this is just a bit gimmicky.
Save yourself some trouble and start off asking the server what's in stock. That list is much shorter than what they don't have, apparently.
Ben Baskett
Hailed as the bar with Utah’s largest bear selection. Cajun cuisine, specializing in blackened catfish and crawfish. Staff is always nice. Great place to meet up as a group.
Live jazz and blues was always my big draw since restaurants with live music is rare in Utah.
gabe cottam
Plan ahead and bring your proof of Vaccination!
Can't accurately rate. They wouldn't let us in. The door was literally locked and guarded. We didn't have our proof of vaccination.
This review was meant to inform anyone who, like my group, wanted to go and try a place that came highly recommended. We were surprised that the door was locked and we were left standing on the sidewalk until someone came out on the sidewalk with us to inform us of this policy (which our entire group is in favor of. We are all vaccinated. No anti-vaxxers in the group) But, we don't carry our proof of vaccination around. No one has ever asked us for that before. So we were unable to even enter the premises. We could find no mention of this policy on our quick google map search. (we didn't look very hard for info on this policy since no one in our group has ever heard of a policy like this. I'm sure there are some out there, but we are not aware of any.)
Apologies if the initial review came across as hostile to the owners and their desires to keep their patrons safe (which again, we're all in favor of.)
Plan ahead and bring your proof of Vaccination!
Tyler Talbot
Came in for a quick date night tonight. Fantastic service and amazing food! We each had a fish plate and they were excellent. I don't mind the vaccination cards being required considering the case count we have right now in Utah. If you're against the vaccine then maybe stop eating out? Lol
Alan Gee
Excellent Cajun cuisine with a twist. Great appetizer and drink menu with really good gumbo, etoufe, shrimp, fish, red beans and rice! Nice job!
Zac Richins
There are a few issues I had the lunch at the Bayou.
First was slow service. We got there shortly before noon, were seated, and our drink orders were taken but then we waited for about 10 min waiting for drinks. I noticed others being served their drinks that arrived after us. Honestly, I think we were forgotten.
Second was food. The fries were good and the fry sauce was an interesting twist with the Cajun seasoning. The turkey burger I ordered was not that great. It hardly had any flavor and was SO dry. The menu urged the customer to resist adding sauces but it was like eating sand. Honestly, if I hadn’t been as hungry as I was, I probably wouldn’t have eaten it. So, food-wise, it left much to be desired.
Spencer Warner
Wow. What a gem. I know why during the before times they had two hour wait times. The food was incredible, the service outstanding, and the beer menu extensive.
I also appreciate and respect the owners response to covid. They had their employees and the communities health in mind and only opened when it was safe to do so.
I can't wait to go back.
Justin Floyd
Best beer selection I’ve seen in Utah! I got the beehive sandwich (mozzarella, arugula, tomato) with 50/50 fries (half sweet potato and half regular). It was amazing! So fresh and awesome flavor. My wife had the veggie burger - same deal - so amazing! If you are in the area, check this place out!
Ben Jacobsen
Loved the atmosphere and service, and i loved loved the Gumbolaya! So good! Definitely going back there. Parking is a joke, but worth it for the Gumbolaya!
Kelly Lafferty
Delicious food, unbelievable beer selection and great service
Jonathan Holzer
The crawfish ettouffe was a little bland in my jumbalaya burrito but the jumbalaya more than made up for it. I just need more flavor, seasoning, and spice if it's just an ettouffe. Maybe they do it in purpose idk. Alligator cheesecake solid. Some spicy martinis with the best jalapeno olives ever. 4 1/2 stars for sure. Definitely want to go back and try the red beans and rice.
Scott Hendrickson
Absolutely freaking amazing every time I eat the food is out of this world and the shrimp and crawfish Po boy is wow
Tim Ross
This place was delicious!! Best gumbo I've had in a long time. Not to mention the drink menu was a decent sized novela! They had at least a hundred different beers on hand, dozens of ciders, and a huge selection of specialty drinks too.
Our waiter, Rob, was great. Prompt, always checking on us, we never had to ask for anything, he was always there asking about more drinks, telling us when our order was almost up, taking the plates away, and dripping off and picking up the check right on que.
All in all, great food, great drinks, great staff! We'll definitely be back often!
Crystal Cory
This place is great! My Cajun chicken sandwich was a little overcooked, but the flavors were still delicious so I didn't really mind. The atmosphere is chill, the app is super helpful. Even their cocktails are great. Would recommend!!
Sandeep Kannan
Awesome ! The vibe of the place is very good. Staff is very friendly and so is the food and the drinks .
Jessica Ririe
Amazing Food! Amazing Service! Highly recommend!
Lexy S.
Awesome staff and amazing food. I like that there is an option in the city to give you a taste of a different style of food. The wait staff is always prompt and friendly. I've never had a bad experience here. I've also never had a bad experience with the beer here. Their selection is fantastic. My favorite drink is the Dirty Hoe. If you haven't had it, I suggest you try it!
Nicholas Pecorella
I love the Bayou- fantastic food, atmosphere, and beer selection. To add to that, it is obvious that they care about the well-being of each customer, as well as the well-being of everyone by requiring proof of vaccination upon entrance. Kileen and Mark are always so friendly on the phone when ordering take out, and frankly just have a lot of common sense- which is something that is lacking in our world lately, but not at the Bayou!!! I cannot recommend going here enough!!!
Kimberly Begalla
Always good and consistent. Perfectly spiced food. Service good but could be improved..ie. paying attention to low and dry drink glasses and checking with people shortly after delivering order if everything is as expected...
Scott
One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Utah, I've had many good experiences here and love the atmosphere. The food has always been cooked perfectly and is delicious, and they have one of the most impressive and extensive beer selections in the state (So many that they even have an app), of the best local beer and a huge selection of imports.
I've only been on the weekends, and this place is always totally packed and I gladly wait for a seat and take in the atmosphere. It's buzzing with energy and people having a great time, it very much gives me the east coast vibe of an awesome old renovated building that is full of people socializing.
They serve mostly southern Cajun dishes that are very flavorful and the jambalaya has some great spice. Everything I've tried has been great, but I always stick to a few favorites (jambalaya or salmon).
They always have my favorite beer available (I won't say what it is because it's very rare to find), and the beer menu is full of other fantastic treats that anybody would love.
When you bring a small group of close friends, partake in the delicious food and get a good buzz on your favorite drinks, and then the live band starts playing (Usually jazz)... it's pure magic.
Annie Vreeke
This place has some AMAZING food! I'd been trying to find somewhere that even comes close to the great food I had in New Orleans and this place nailed it. Food is excellent, staff is so friendly and very willing to help, especially when it comes to selecting a great beer. With such a big selection I suggest chatting with the server to help you pick. They know so much!
Lucy Mercado
Picked up the food to go. It was all delicious.
Jim Astin
Great food and great service from Wendy, our friendly server.
All four of us loved our lunches. The pumpkin spice cheesecake dessert was delicious too.
Cynthia Moeller
Some of the best food I have ever eaten. Atmosphere is very chill. They also have the most extensive brew collection I have seen in this state. Heads up bring your Id. I had to go back home to get mine, I’m glad I did it was worth it. If you want some amazing southern food, this is the spot.
Zack Sharp
Serving up southern classics like jambalaya, red beans & rice, etc. Ate here twice and both times the food was good with friendly, attentive service. Definitely recommend checking this place out when you're in SLC!
Ben Talbot
My family and I have been here probably 3 or 4 times. We have been there as it was busy and with an average amount of customers. The service was prompt courteous and met all of our needs.
My daughter, who is over 21, spent some time on Louisiana and found the food to be pretty close to her liking.
Let me say the BEER SELECTION IS GREAT!!!! After spending a lot of time in the Northwest I am happy to find places that have a great selection of beers. The Bayou does not disappoint. The parking is not the easiest. I think we have gotten lucky as it was not terrible. Just be aware of is close to downtown Sal Lake so parking cam always pose an issue.
Found the place to have a pleasant atmosphere and nicely clean.
Marci Batiste
Great food excellent service despite being slammed on Valentine's day and a Friday night. Will definitely be back
Michael Casey
I ordered the blackened catfish. It wasn't blackened. It was white fluffy and had blackened seasoning sprinkled on the top. I ate it all. The others at my table had no complaints with their meals: gumbo and red beans & rice. We all drank water. We would have ordered dessert but the waitress didn't stop by the table after she delivered our food. When I asked for the check she had someone else bring it to the table.
Mandy McSassypants
The Bayou is amazing! Staff and food are always delicious! Everyone having proof of vaccine makes me feel safe to dine out. We love The Bayou! We ate here before Covid and we continue now. Thank you, Bayou for having a safe place to dine and enjoy ourselves!
Spencer Simister
I love this place! Great food and drinks!!! Best Cajun food in town, hands down. Also, thanks to their awesome policy of requiring COVID19 vaccination cards for entry, this is the first public place I have felt comfortable hanging out sans mask since March of 2020. It is nice to be around others who believe in the merits of science!
Rod Schiffman
I was there with a group on a Friday night. They handled seating for our group of 14 very well. The beer selection is indeed excellent. The facility has a very good vibe and crowd. My dish was good. The other food looked good. I suppose the only nit is that the spicing is so dumbed down. OTOH, I was in New Orleans recently and many of the restaurants there have dumbed down the spicing as well. The pricing on the Scotch I bought a round of was well priced. I like this place.
lyn wright
I really enjoyed my meal at The Bayou. The food was excellent (I got the veggie burger) and the service was amazing. We weren't rushed through the meal and our server was so attentive. And the beer selection is insane. I highly recommend this clean and super-safe restaurant!
Ricky Dowse
Delicious. Both pasta and rice were fantastic with the cat fish.
Michael Coulson
Great food and drinks. Very warm staff. I'm also glad they check your vaccination card before allowing entry. The bar was packed and it's nice to feel some sense of normalcy again. I wish more places would follow the same practice.
Bradley Hawks
If you love beer, this is the place. Ridiculously large selection, it literally fills a book. I love browsing for something new. A full bar with lots of other spirits too. Cajun food isn't my favorite, but they have some great food. I love the artichoke dip and the bread pudding. Very knowledgeable staff and great service.
SEAN GONZALES
The food was amazing. Definitely go in for some great eats!! The price is right. I ate there with 7 or 8 of our friends. And everyone was very pleased. They all enjoyed their meal. I got the crawfish sauce smothered on the fried catfish over rice, it was fantastic the cooks really know what their doing there. We had some Appetizers and the fish balls were great. The red beans and rice my friend got and let me try was so awesome. No one was displeased. Unfortunately the service was a little lacking. Everyone the worked there seemed to be pretty casual and our table service wasn't very high quality. We had to clear the table ourselves several times. The food really was the quality of The Bayou. "2👍👍thumbs out of 3"
Eric J (Erik the Red)
The Bayou is fantastic. They have an extensive drink list with tons of beer on tap. The Gumbolaya is really good. The wait staff has always been good and you can tell the management cares about the restaurant and their customers.
Veronica Gutierrez (Cheezitz)
I always have a great experience everytime I come here. They always take a great consideration of the customer's needs. My partner and I decided on sharing gambalaya and they brought the food in separate bowls for us! Great service!
If you haven't tried the gambalaya you are missing out big time. When you try crawfish ask for extra. I didn't really taste any in my food when I got it with my gambalay. The chickpeas were a great snack to have. I wish I could buy a bag to go. I recommend adding it to your salad if possible.
Slayter Marwitz
Incredible. Had the gumbalya and it ruled. Did not expect solid Cajun in Utah but here we are. The beer selection was also great. If you like IPAs try the spotted puffer. Definitely worth it!
lori james
This place has awesome eats! Their appetizers and main meals are so delicious. Music can be a bit loud but service is responsive and on the ball.
Love the variety of snacks and goodies here. Can't wait to go back. Been coming here for many many years and finally remembered to check in on Yelp.
Jeremy Andra
Incredible beer selection. The Etouffee is incredible! This really is one of my favorite places in Salt lake to eat, drink and mingle. On occasion you might be lucky enough to experience local talent when they do live music. If you found this review helpful, please like it. Thanks
Bryan Griffith
Great lunch spot. I am always impressed with the food and the atmosphere... I don't drink but I can clearly see they have a huge selection. So if you are into that, I am sure this is a great place to get an adult beverage.
My favorite dish is the red beans and rice. Everything I have tried has been great though
Shalena Falaniko
You definitely get your money's worth with the food. The jambalaya pizza, veggie fettuccine and wings are delicious and the portions are large enough that you can share with the rest of the group. The alcohol beverages are a bit on the pricey side but all in all, great food. Gave 4 stars because I asked our waitress for a straw and I watched as she grabbed 1 from the bar and started handling cash and other dishes while the unwrapped straw was still in her hands then handed it to me after I waited about 10 mintues for it.
Lisa Jensen
The selection of bottled beer is incredible. I had an imported chocolate stout while my friend had one of their seasonal brews that was on tap. We ordered several appetizers which were all good. The bar has a great atmosphere and the service was outstanding.
jade crofts
Best pasta we've ever had and the server was awesome
Chad Thornley
Awesome atmosphere with brick walls and tables spread throughout. Friendly staff and very quick service. Very extensive beer list with many local and imported flavors, seriously they have a full book with the drink menu. Food is amazing and having visited New Orleans just two weeks ago I can also say it is quite authentic. Probably the best you'd find in Utah! Highly recommended place.
J Cates
Had a lot of fun here. It was also so nice to know that we could dine without a mask because everyone has to be vaccinated to dine in. Kileen and Wendy were great. Thanks for putting up with our shenanigans. I enjoyed love the food, but some of my friends did not. So I guess I had to give it 4 stars to count their vote but will be back for sure.
gh ren
Great beer selection. I would like to add a disclaimer that I am not experienced with authentic cajun food but I have never had a bad meal here. The parking situation is a little tricky if you come a half hour after they open on the weekends. My biggest complaint is that the house salad is just greens with a nice dressing. The staff have always treated me well, which is leaps and bounds better than almost every bar I've ever been to.
E Doran
Great atmosphere and delicious food. The beer selection is insane!
Hope Glenn
This is my favorite bar in SLC, and I'm so thankful that they were the first restaurant I felt comfortable going to post vaccination. Best beer selection. Delicious food. Conscientious crowd. Cheers!
Daniel Sherrod
Fantastic!!! The food was amazing! The crawfish etouffee with crispy catfish...OMG!!! We finished it off with ginger snap cookies and a pecan tart that was born in the depths of the south!! An awesome place with awesome people!
Fatima Abbas
Get here early to avoid a wait- 615pm on a weekend was perfect time for early dinner and literally 15min later was when the line was out the door! This does mean you miss the live music but it’s still a good atmosphere without. They have a comprehensive list of beers that was impressive and the food portions were pretty good, too many fries and not enough meat in my case but I didn’t leave hungry.
Abigail Alder
Such a fun restaurant. It's not quiet by any means, it's lively and loud. The live band was quite entertaining and very musically talented. The service was impeccable (our server had an awesome beard too, it was impressive!) and the food was delicious. The alligator cheesecake was to die for.
Justin Redd
Excellent place! Very busy though, the wait time is usually half an hour on weekends. Excellent beer selection and their staff is very helpful in helping you select beers.
The food is otherwise excellent. They offer a New Orleans type fare, including delicious jambalaya, black and blue burgers, and alligator cheese cake. On weekends they have live bands. They also offer outdoor seating.
Very fun place.
Mike Zauner
Food is incredible, staff friendly and professional, and that beer list can't be talked about enough.
Above all though, it's a much needed reprieve from COVID denialists. It's a safe haven. Remember your vaccine card when you go though!
Dustin Pyper
If you like great Cajun food and beer this place is for you. My wife and I have been going here for years and is always good. They have hundreds of beers and the food is great (the gumbolia is my favourite). They also have blues bands play every so often on the weekends. Awesome place for a date night. Definitely recommend!
Trent Smith
Ive been coming here for years. Wonderful environment and amazing staff. I personally love the fact that it's 21 and older only (some may not like that, but I do). The food is always amazing!! I never leave unsatisfied. I do not drink, but I know they have a huge beer menu to choose from. If you like good Cajun and Creole food, it's a great place to go try.
Mike McLeroy
The food and service here are great! It's Cajun food, so I wouldn't recommend it if that's not your style. They have a great beer menu as well. I think there's some app you can get to order your alcohol, but I couldn't easily find info about it, so that's my only bit of feedback.
Lacey Coleman
Service was great and the food is absolutely amazing. We got the gumbo and red beans and rice. Not giving 5 stars because I felt really overwhelmed with the beer menu. It seemed all over the place. Even the bartender seemed really confused which made ordering a little difficult. I would definitely go again. Pricing was very reasonable!
Pilot Pat
Extremely wonderful food and amazingly fast service, fastest I've ever had. The food is all fresh cooked and they literally bring it out within just a few short minuets of ordering even on busy days. The place on the outside looks like it may be a dive bar of sorts but it is far from that, don't let that return you away you'd really be missing out. It is really clean inside with good decor has excellent staff. The food is really reasonably priced and in large portions. They also have a very large selection of beers, ciders, and wines sure to fit your meal. A very good crowd goes there too it's not a bar but more a restaurant that has a bar in it. You see more of a nice business professional group of people there so it's not just a bunch of rowdy people. All in all great food, great selections, extremely fast service from great staff, and really great experience for date nights, business gatherings, or just a good old night out on the town.

Love this place!!! Been coming to this place for years! Love the live jazz on Saturday nights. We always bring friends visiting out of town here and never heard anyone not like the place, food or music. We order the wings and fries all the time. Jambalaya with crawfish is pretty awesome as well! Any type of drinks are good. The dirty how, snakebite are good mixed/cocktails.
Tylar Overturf
Got the blackened salmon fish plate with alfredo pasta and it was really good. Lots of food for the price and service was great. Highly recommend.
Dan Powell
I've been going to The Bayou for more than a decade - since I was a student at the U. I worked next door at the Homeless Youth Resource Center and it was always a treat to have staff meeting at The Bayou or just get some of their yummy food for lunch. I LOVE Cajun food and these guys do it well. The atmosphere is great - more quiet during the day, noisy (music) and hopping most evenings. The live music in the evenings is usually lots of fun and the staff has never been anything but friendly. Great place!
Megan Olsen
Always delicious, always great service. I hadn't been in since pre-covid and I had a Powerful Need for good Cajun food. Thank goodness for The Bayou!
Capri Bailey
What fun! Go on a not so busy afternoon and sit at the bar. The 'keeps' are knowledgeable, entertaining, and accomodating. Food is delicious! Beer selection is the best in town, domestic and imported, drafts have wonderful choices. Atmosphere gets crazy at busy times, but is always fun. Parking can be a busy; taxi if you want a great time without hassles.
Steve Hand
Fantastic beer menu with some hard to find stuff. Food is really good too. Plan for a long wait on the weekends if you go with a large crowd after 7. This place can get unbelievably crowded. Live music at night is also very loud and can make it difficult for conversations. Not a knock on the place; just know what you can expect. Still a 5 star locale.
Beatriz Ponce
We dined in for the first time in 18 months! Food was awesome, the Bayou lemonade was delicious and the Cajun Seafood balls where to die for. Thank you Bayou for being brave and helping us to have relaxing night out!
Shelby Thompson
This place is definitely in my SLC Top 10.
The atmosphere is relaxed and the food has never disappointed. When you couple that with a beer menu that rivals some of our local breweries, it is definitely a place to try.
Keep in mind, it is downtown and parking isn’t always the greatest. You may end up walking a block and it will be worth it.
Christy Shaum
We came to visit the Bayou mostly to check out their unique atmosphere and good food. I tried their vegetarian burger and enjoyed it quite a bit, however I’ve had better at other restaurants. That being said, it’s a really great social scene with its unique vibe. If we make it back we’ll be more interested in trying out the drink menu (we only had a few shots while there). Overall, it’s a nice atmosphere but nothing too exciting to make it stand out.
Devy Khou
Good food. Great atmosphere. The menu is quite broad. I need to go back and try the jambalaya. Had the alligator cheesecake and it was tasty but since I don't know what alligator tastes like, smothering it in the sauce leaves me still pondering if it tastes like chicken. I like the place.
Madison Olsen
Great beer selection, I can't comment on the food because I played it safe and ordered a pizza when I should of gone with one of the dishes that they are known for. Although the environment is great I am giving three stars due to the parking situation. Not only is there close to no parking, the parking lot is so narrow that it makes it hard for people who are pulling in off the busy street as well as for the people who are trying to pull out.
Patrick Adams
Cool old school bar parking limited and food just OK.
Lauren Truby
The atmosphere is the best here. We loved the live music and all of the friendly staff. Theres alot of yummy classic Louisiana food choices. Their seafood seemed really fresh. I would also suggest looking g at the specialty board that day because they have some really interesting things! Great beers great food and great staff!
Tahir Ahmad
Came here while visiting from Canada. Beer list was amazingly thorough, with great local selections and craft brew options. Staff was very knowledgeable about the beer and their suggestions were excellent. Food was good, had the Po' boy with shrimp, and it hit the spot. Great price point for the amount of food. Would go back if I'm ever in SLC again!
Abhinandan Sain
In a word, wow! The place was spacious and well balanced between bar and restaurant. Given the time of the year, it had cute Christmas decorations. The staff was pleasantly professional and very systematic. We started with some finger licking appetizers. The main course consisted of huge portions of extremely well prepared meals. And the cheesecake and pudding desserts were just delectable. The drinks menu was more of a book with this place offering the widest selection of drinks I have ever seen. The music was just the right volume and even with the large group of people that I went with, it was a great experience.
Colby Bland
Very much enjoyed my afternoon here. The largest beer selection I've seen with a knowledgeable staff (at least mine was) to give recommendations. Food was served crazy fast (under five minutes) for me and the guy I talked with. Highly recommend and if I'm back in SLC I'll be back here.
Lana Dahle
It's a great bar restaurant! We are glad we tried the muffaletta sandwich (it was good but needed even more olive salad in my opinion and is so huge you may have to unhinge your jaw just to bite it), fried crawfish as a starter (I wanted a creamy sauce to balance the spice of the one it comes with and asked for a remoulade, but theirs is not creamy at all so don't make that mistake), a shrimp po boy (everyone's favorite) and the 50/50 fries. We look forward to going back with some friends (but must be 21and vaccinated you have to show proof of both at the door to get in) and in trying some new dishes.
BobbiJo Kanter
The Bayou is one of our neighborhood favorites! The food is delicious and the beer and cocktail menu has something for everyone.
We also deeply appreciate their sensible approach to public health.
Patrick K
I don't think you can find a better beer selection in the state. They even have an app so you can know their inventory in real time. In addition to the bar, their food is great. I've had a few items but my favorite is their e'touffee with crawdads and blackened catfish. They even have good bands play that create a super fun environment for a date or catching up with an old friend.
Pizza Face
I can not stress enough how great this place is. Their Covid safety precautions are by far the best in SLC. There is no place in town I feel safer. And you have to love their beer list.
I usually only rate restaurants strictly on their pizza. I can't do that here, I need to support The Bayou because of their commitment to public safety.
But now, the pizza. One star (sorry). I love all the Cajun food, I love the Caesar salad (so anchovy!), but the pizza just doesn't cut it. I think it's just sauce and cheese on a pita. The sauce is spicy and good, but c'mon! Just slapping it on a pita is not cutting it. At least just forgo the formality and call it a flatbread.
Keep up the good work keeping the community safe.
Chris Hansen
Great food! But loud
First time eating here. Showed up at 7 pm on a Saturday. They actually got our 8 person group seated within 30 minutes. We were there for a kind-of reunion. Which meant we wanted to chat and catch up with one another. The music and crowd noise made that difficult. I don't fault the establishment (bad planning on our part). Service was friendly! Food was delicious!
Plan on parking about a block or more away. Very little parking next to restaurant.
Austin
The service was terrific. I ordered the Crayfish etouffee. Quite possibly one of the best versions of the dish I have ever had. The only complaint I have is the restaurant was crazy hot, like they didn't want to turn the AC on it was broken. Made me feel like I was in an oven. The bartender was knowledgeable as was our waiter about the drink selection and make good recommendations. Will definitely be returning.
Evelynne Petty
Great spiced chickpeas, really tasty boozy bread pudding! We didn't get any alcohol but the lists were extensive and varied. Everything we got was fantastic. Service was prompt and friendly on a Monday afternoon. We will be back!
Dean Macko
This place is great with really high food standards. The appetizers were amazing, especially the hummus and the wings. I ordered the breaded catfish and linguine and it was perfectly spiced and Incredibly moist inside. You cannot go wrong here.
Ben Noot
Food is great, I have been going here for a few years. No complaints on their food. but recently they started to require vaccine cards to enter, and they tend to be pretty rude and condescending towards customers who complain, or ask questions about their policy.
Dan Walker
This place is great! Great atmosphere and great food. I WOULD give it 5 stars, but for 2 years in a row now they haven't done their CInco de Mayo taquitos special! It used to be tradition for us to come here on Cinco de Mayo because those taquitos & their green dipping salsa is so damn good. Bring back the Cinco de Mayo taquitos and you'll get your 5 stars!
Julia Durr
Good food and nice atmosphere. I liked the patio not because it was super cool, but because it was an alleyway and it felt like New Orleans to this girl who's never been there. Great beer selection and nice cocktail list too!
Clorisse Parman
Main Entree Jambalaya was great! I wasn't very impressed with my appetizer Fried Popcorn Crawfish. Overall the service was good and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Just be prepared to have a bit of a wait to be seated if your going over the weekend.
Vee Eh En
Good food, great beer list with lots of local and international options. Bar staff is good at beer/food pairing. There's often a long wait for a table, and it can be intensely noisy, but it's a fun place to preload for a concert at the State Room.
Gabrielle Nielson
Came here with a bunch of friends on St. Patrick's and had a blast; Bartenders and servers were all friendly.
The food was great and the staff had no issues accommodating gluten-free preferences.
There was a live band playing some jazz which wasn't too loud.
Really great atmosphere here, I'd recommend stopping by.
Aaron Wall
Huge beer selection and mix of bar food and Cajun inspired dishes. The garlic burger was great, thought they don't ask how you want it cooked. Loved the Chipotle aoili sauce on the burger and as a dip for the fries.
Cait Quaranto
They required ID/Vaccination Card upon entry.. AMAZING! i felt sooo comfortable coming out to dinner! Rob took care of us and 100% would request again. I had the 50/50 fries app (huge portion!!) and the Bayou Pasta. So yummy.
Can’t wait to try the PoBoy next!
Danielle Callister
The Bayou is a long time fave... I started going before Maps Reviews was a thing. They call it the 'Beer'Nova and that is exactly what it is. You won't find a better, more unique beer selection anywhere else. Their cocktails are awesome too. The food could stand on it's own. They offer good old comfort food, pizza, burgers, salads, and so much more. The Jambalaya never disappoints!! Expect a wait on a weekend night, but it it is never too long. Parking is free, but the lot is very small. You may have to find street parking, but it is free too. The Bayou should be your next must have!
Gabriel Gadelbert
Never a disappointment. The Bayou has amazing food, and drinks. Highly recommend the seafood balls as an appetizer and the Mormon Mule!
S McDade
This was my first and may be my only time here. (I live out of town) I did however sample several dishes. The crawdad etouffee was badass! This dish had so much flavor and the rice was just perfect! The portion was just right and all around a beautiful dish!!! The service was 5 star as well!!! Our waitress said she was an 8 year veteran here and I hope she is appreciated. We sure appreciated her! Definitely visit this gem. You won't be disappointed!!!
Sal Lababidi
One of my favourite places in Salt Lake City for it's EXCELLENT food, beer selection and cocktail options. On average I need to eat their Gumbalaya at least once a month and the last time I devoured the fried twinkies for desert which for sure added a few inches to my waste-line but what the heck, they were unbelievably delicious! Besides this the venue is immaculately clean, the service is impeccable and the customers are just down to earth good folk.
Howard Corneli
Awesome meal, superb service, best beer selection in four or five states, and great atmosphere. And you can feel safe unlike almost any other restaurant in Utah.
Jane Hernandez
I almost forgot how amazing the food was!! Since I don't live super close, I didn't come in for take out when they were closed for dine in, but happily visited once they opened. Could not believe how good the chicken po boy was! Love that the heath of their employees and the public is a priority. As far as people crying that their rights are being violated, not so. This is a private business. Don't be a doof and make up fake reviews, vote with your dollars and go somewhere else.
Chelsey Foster
One of my favorite restaurants in Utah. I always come here and order the seafood balls and gumbolaya. It’s the real deal. Thick, dark roux loaded down with andouille sausage. But literally everything on the menu is perfect. And believe me, it’s hard to get a good review out of me. They also have a huge selection of beer, amazing service and atmosphere. I’m from New Orleans so this place makes me feel a lot less homesick. If you come on a Friday or Saturday night, you might see a jazz band.
Quest
Anti-mask cult is trying to bring this business down for caring about their employees. The truth is, they have incredible food and an amazing beer selection. Plus, to me, it’s a bonus that you can be assured not to cross paths with any crazy people. Thank you Bayou!!! See you again soon!
Peter Muscarello
I loved my lunch at the bayou! The food is Cajun themed and very well executed. The portions are big, so go hungry. But the real star is the beer list. The bayou has the best selection in salt lake City, and the app makes it super easy to order. The wait staff is very knowledgeable if you're confused on what to order. Highly recommended!
Marcell Mesquita
Absolutely awesome place with great staff and management. But of course their food is amazing and they have hundreds of beers and over 30 draft beers on tap. Great atmosphere, you just can't go wrong here.
Rashi Pant
We went to this place to celebrate our four year engagement anniversary ❤️. The ambience was really nice and the food was delicious ☺️. We ordered sunburst salad, buffalo chicken wings(spicey comes with celery and carrorts) and hummus and pita platter must tell you it was enough for 3-4 people.😁 Huge portions and amazing taste. The service was really nice and fast. They have huge variety of beers(in wine and cocktails) too. A must place to hangout with friends and loved ones. We will definitely visit again.
Stephen Prax
As a beer fan the Bayou is a must for selection, they have the best beer selection in Utah. I’m the southern food is delicious with great flavors. Parking is a little ridiculous and challenging, but it’s worth it. Great setting for a group meal and variety of drinks to satisfy everyone.
Selena McGowan
Gumbo and jambalaya were very good, fries were good as well, and a surprising mix of sweet potatoes and regular potatoes. Great selection of beers, and a decent selection of wine. They open at 11am on weekdays, but not until 5pm on the weekends, this did result in disappointment Saturday afternoon when we tried for a late lunch.
Hunter Keetch
I love coming to the Bayou for good food and a wide variety of beers. They are often out of the first beer you order but they usually will recommend something similar. Their diced chicken tastes microwaved but it's still edible. There are live bands on the weekends and the atmosphere is very cool.
Wafiq Ali
What a great place! The bayou has impeccable service and the food is amazing. My favorites are the Cajun chicken sandwich, the game hen and the burrito. You won’t be disappointed if you come here
Alicia Grace Beach
Great atmosphere, live jazz music, wide drink selection, and the food is GOOD!
I had the jambalaya and added craw fish.
It was so good, perfectly flavored and great texture.
A little expensive, but definitely worth the extra money, Next time I come back I'll try the gumbo of the cat fish.
Max Vesely
We stopped at this place on the way to Salt Lake City airport. The service was really great. I ordered their jambalaya and it was pretty good. It wasn't extremely busy on Monday night but we got our order of appetizers and main course very fast. It worked as we had a flight to catch.
Jason Terry
I love the Bayou! Ive been coming on and off to the Bayou for close to 15 years now. The owner and management have always been on point with providing a great atmosphere and food.
Be prepared to have about 3 different beer choices picked out as selection can rotate out quickly and they try to offer a huge selection. (This is more the fault of the DABC making it hard to order and maintain inventory)
Mychelle Hadley
This was my first time visiting The Bayou. Parking is rather non-existent. The lot is small and has one entry and exit point. Be open to other parking options nearby. (I lucked out and arrived as someone else was leaving or else I would suggest other options.)
The food was excellent! The "side salad" that came out before the meal was large, fresh, and tasty. The pesto vinaigrette dressing was delicious. I ordered the chicken fried chicken meal, and I could tell everything was prepared in-house.
The atmosphere was cool; however, the music was loud, and it seemed everyone was yelling to speak to one another.
Kehly Gwynn
Such a fun bar! The atmosphere is amazing with live music and the beer menu is quite extensive. The only thing I’ve gotten to eat that I didn’t like was the alligator cheesecake (which I’m sure is an acquired taste to begin with 😁)! Everything else is amazing! …
Randall Feuerlein
Very good food and good catfish. I grew up eating it and this is good friend catfish.
You know what would be better and more authentic than serving a hard chunk of inedible bread with the salad? Serving a nice slice of warm baguette with it. And you are now! Awesome! Upgraded to 5 stars.
Mark Kingery
We had our first meal in a restaurant since COVID shut everything down.
It’s so nice to know that everyone was vaxxed.
The food was great.
If you have been vaxxed and you want a great meal then go enjoy.
Charles Hanskat
Great local spot. Huge list of beers, very good Cajun themed food. Very busy, but lots of seating, so my wait on a Saturday night wasn't too long. Fried Twinkies dessert is something you don't see everywhere.
Linda Burtch
Ettouffee is to DIE for. Love this place, the beer selection is incredible, the food is truly unmatched, and the staff is always welcoming, knowledgeable, and friendly. We've never had a bad experience!
Holly Garets
Felt like my pizza was left under the heating lamp. My husband got the jambalaya and I got the margarita pizza. His food came out hot while mine felt like warm, as if it were meant for another customer and then when I ordered it they gave it new life. Their beer selection is as always pretty good.
Aaron “Roadkill” Saxon
Great Cajun style food that compliments the huge beer selection. The beer selection is awesome and the electronic boards showing the beers they have available is really cool. It will alternate between recently ordered to highest alcohol or highest rated beers. They also have an app called "Wheel of Beers" that can randomly choose a beer for you if you are overwhelmed and undecided. Cheers!
Melissa Cosgrove
The best place ever! Amazing food, fantastic beer selection, and the friendliest, most helpful, most adorable staff. Curtis is an especially knowledgeable bartender, and creates a very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. I never get sick of The Bayou!
Sarah Weippert
Been meaning to try this place for a while and finally made it in. Definitely worth while and will be back. We got the popcorn shrimp as an app and they were fresh, crispy and lightly battered. For my main, I got spinach linguini with artichokes and added shrimp. It was creamy and delicious. The beer menu is the best I have seen in SLC.
Nikita G
Great food! I love that the Jambalaya is not too spicy but still flavorful! Great beer selection and a nice environment. It gets super busy about lunch and dinner time and I wish the parking wasn't so horrible!
Scott Blomgren
I came in for some good Cajun food, and I found it. I ordered the Gumbolaya and some bread pudding. The Gumbolaya was so large I could. It eat my bread pudding and had to take it home and eat it later. The server talked me into adding shrimp to the dish and I am so happy I did. It was a massive amount of shrimp, and the best Cajun flavored shrimp I’ve ever had. I would happily have that meal again. I will say the bread pudding was good when I had it later. I don’t think it was great but it was good. They also might have had the largest beer selection I have ever seen. If you’re in Salt Lake City and you want some good Cajun food this is the place.
Andrew Rigby
Fantastic food and drinks as usual. I highly recommend the Cajun burrito! I am very happy to see that they are creating a safe environment for their employees, customers, and the general public.
Aubrey Parsell
Do yourself a favor and eat here. It's absolutely worth it. My boyfriend and I have been here twice and each time he got the Cajun pasta and I got the blackened salmon with the pasta. Highly recommend either dish. Great atmosphere and service as well.
joey kemp
I have never been a regular drinker, so I found myself slightly overwhelmed at the size of the Bayou's impressive beer menu. Fortunately I was greeted by a waiter named Curtis who patiently walked me through the plethora of various distinct flavors attributed to each variety of beer. It was a terrific experience and I highly recommend anyone experience this lovely restaurant.
Dee Hansen
Thanks again Mark!
It's so nice to go to a place to have good food and drink, while feeling safe in knowing that every one there cares enough to get vaccinated!
See you soon!
Dee
MJ Ayyampudur
Guys and girls this place has the most amazing beer menu , 100+ varieties and amazing service by all the beautiful staff. You guys are doing amazing. The blackened salmon sandwich omg ! Gets you going. Definitely recommend you to try. If you are around
T Sheeder
Absolutely delicious food and awesome service. The portions were very generous and the staff was super friendly. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for a fabulous meal!
Jacqueline Ohayon
The fries are a yummy mix of sweet potato and regular fries. Paired with the sauce they are the perfect mixture you wont find anywhere else in the city. My husband got the catfish and was pleased with the quality. Only complaint is the steamed veggies lack flavor and arent something I'd pay extra money for rather than buying at the super market. Very fresh starter salad and they dont skimp on dressings sauces or drinks. Nice atmosphere inside and super friendly staff. It was a good experience overall
Bryan McLeod
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes having a drink with their food. Great service too! Cups barely got empty before being filled. Waitresses were great, funny, competent. Came in with a party of 9 and they didn't miss a beat. Never had to ask what we were drinking, never felt like we were really forgotten or neglected. Well worth going here. NOT KID FRIENDLY!!
Shawn Garrett
The food here is pretty good. While it may not be completely authentic Cajun cuisine, it's probably the closest you'll find in Utah. Their beer selection is one of the best in Utah as well. The service is good as well. They also have live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
Mark C
The Bayou has a ridiculous number of craft beer choices. An entire book type menu to select from. If they don't have it you probably don't really want it. The food is really good as well. The jambalaya was really tasty. Nice atmosphere too. Might be a little tricky to find parking.
Jake Meier
Best Cajun food I've found in Utah! Eaten here 5+ times since I moved to Utah and everything is always good. They have a unique staff as well that I think fits the atmosphere as well. Highly recommended!!
Scott Zeller
Fast seating, and food and service. They forgot our app, and my brothers food was super boring (gumbolaya try 2, and roux something on the 1st try). I had the game hen which was pretty good, little on the sweet side. Hard cider on tap was real good deal to!
THE BREEZE
Make sure you give yourself 30 minutes at least, just to pick a beer from their extensive selection. WOW!
Delicious food! This place is popular during dinner hours so make sure you have time to wait or get there a little early. Red Beans and Rice will feed 2 people at least and it's really really good.
Paul Worlton
The Bayou is licensed as a bar, not a restaurant. In Utah, that means you'll need to be 21 to get in. The good news (for adults) is that The Bayou has a vast array of beers to choose from. As a non-drinker, I have no opinion on that but it seems like an attractive option for many people.
The food is what you'd expect from a cajun-themed restaurant (bar...whatever). Overall, I'd say it is very good, with a few random odd dishes and (arguably) a few stinkers. For the most part, I have enjoyed the food and would go back for it again.
If there is any failing at The Bayou, it can sometimes be the service. Sometimes it can take a while to get noticed and sometimes I've often waited a long time to get the check. I took a star off my review primarily for this reason. In general, I tend to believe that non-drinkers at any bar/restaurant get less attention than drinkers because non-drinkers are spending less money. Be that as it may, if you are patient and dining casually, you shouldn't have any problems.
Vastonik
By far the best restaurant and bar in Utah. Beer selection is amazing and fairly priced. Food is incredible. Service is fast and competent. Been here around ten times and not one time have I not felt welcome. This is how you run a place.
Mark Houberg-Lawton
Service was good, food was great . The crawfish etouffee is my favorite, but you have to get it with the deep fried cat fish. Very yummy. No wait when we arrived, but when we left there was a long wait. Very popular, and it is Friday. The best part is you can have a cocktail with dinner. Enjoy
Tyler Stephens (Vash The Stompede)
4 stars only because of the prices. Amazing food. Incredible drink selections (the cost is the only reason it doesn't get 5*s). This an amazing place with delicious food and friendly customer service. 10/10 planning on going here again. I'm excited for my next time I come here.
Maggie Massimine
I would give 5 stars for beers and 1 star for food.
First of all, the bread on the sandwiches is horrible. Really really bad. Tastes like 3 day old stale bread. I know you get it from some special bakery but please stop. It's terrible and I know you've been told before listen to what people tell you.
Next, flavoring. It's kind-of important. Especially in cajun food. Frying shrimp in flavorless batter is something you can get at a fast food joint. Actually, the po-boy at Popeyes is better so that's a pretty sad review.
If you come here to drink. Definitely visit. Great beer selection and amazing app to go along with it. Just skip the food. It always disappoints.
Garrett Grebe
Good food, friendly and efficient servers and the best beer list I've seen in SLC. Go give it a try!
Margaret Schroeder
I had the blackened catfish salad and gumbo. Would definitely get again! I could eat my way through the entire menu. Everything looks so good!
Carleigh-Anne Anderson
Fun environment! This place is great for a drink but the food was just okay.
Victoria Rogerson
The Bayou is an absolutely amazing place to eat. Their food is phenomenal, service is always spot-on, and atmosphere is unmatched. Anytime I have friends visiting from out of town, I take them to the Bayou because it is so wonderful!
Justin B
Truly one of the best Cajun places this side of NOLA. I value their commitment to their staffs health and safety during this last year. I love their Hopping John and thier Gumblya. Please go eat here and support this downtown gem.
Kevin Galbraith
Pros:
Great menu bursting with Cajun flavors.
Wide selection of beers and ciders.
Love the live music
It's a popular place so sometimes you may have to wait some time for a table.
Haute Soul
I grew up in Southern Louisiana and am very impressed with their gumbo! To me it's not spicy, but is normally seasoned lol, and tasted amazing! I felt like I was eating gumbo in a "mom and pop" restaurant back home. I also tried the Jambalaya, and while it wasnt the style I prefer, it was still well made. I will definitely be visiting this place again!
Braxton Bitsoi
Food was amazing! Great live jazz band! And no kids allowed which for me was a big plus! Also the beer menu is a novel of options! Really an incredible experience all together!
Danny O'Malley
This is still exactly as awesome as ever. Friendly and knowledgeable server, quick delivery of drinks and food, and good atmosphere. Bring your vax card and you will have no regrets. Oh what's that? You don't have your vax card? Go get it.
Jayce Van Haren
This place is great! We thought we would give it a try since we wouldn’t be getting into Salt Lake until after 10:30 and we did not regret it! Great Cajun style food with a large menu. It’s reasonable priced and they offer live music as well.
We have already made plans to come back with friends next time we are around town. It has a bar area so you must be 21+ to enter but I would say it’s a restaurant first and a bar second. Great place for a an evening out! I would highly recommend it
Vince Grimm
Really good food. The jambalaya became a new favorite food for me. We are a little disappointed in the service. Slow to attend to our drinks/water. It seemed as though we weren't worth the server's time of we weren't drinking alcohol.
Joseph Dewey
This is a great bar and restaurant. They have great bands. They also have a great beer selection. I think they have every beer that Utah sells in the liquor stores. The food is great. It's mostly inspired by New Orleans fare. It's extremely loud and crowded. Well, even when it's not crowded, it's still loud. So, if you want an intense conversation with a friend, it's the wrong place. But, if you want to hang out with your loud friends, and for group parties, it's an awesome place. Just get there early to find seating.
maria tello
Number one: you have to be 21 or older to get in. I have kids but it’s nice to go somewhere and not have to listen to ANY kids lol not just my own. The service was very good, the food was delicious and came out pretty fast. I’d definitely go a little later next time. Maybe Uber so we could both drink, they have a big selection and we saw some beer we’d like to try.
Alasteir Denton
We started with the alligator cheesecake which was good and without too much of a meat taste. The artichoke dip really grew on us with the inclusion of green chilies. The rest of our entrees were good and we ended up taking a lot of the food home. The pasta was drowned in sauce and I wish it were lighter with amped up flavor. 2) The fried chickpeas had lost all taste of chickpea.
MeLissa Bennett
I have never seen so many beer options in one place before! The bartender that helped us, was very knowledgeable and recommended some really good beers to us! The food was good, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. It is a good place for a night out with friends, and whenever you feel adventurous and want to try new beers!
Vatsal Rajjoshi
The food, the drinks, the people all here are totally amazing. Really enjoyed the whole ambience and the total vibe to the place. One of the best cajun restaurants I’ve ever been to.
Kelsey Lindsey
Food was great! Very filling, and nice sized portions, and the staff is super nice. BUT I ordered a lemon drop martini that was delivered 1/2 full and without any vodka. It must have been straight juice. After sending it back (the waitress was very understanding), I ordered a dirty gin martini and received, again, another half full martini glass of olive juice. On the third try I ordered a glass of cab, which was very good.
All in all, an OK place for dinner, but if you're ordering drinks, make sure it comes straight from the bottle.
Corey Ellis
Thanks for having a great beer/ alcohol selection, the best gumbo/cajun food in Utah, and being consistently my favorite place in SLC to grab a beer and some food. You're place is great. Beer list is the best. They even have a beer app you can download. That's great for folks like me. Keep that beer list packed. Thanks for adding more Cascade Brewing sour beer.
This is a solid place for gumbo and beer. The service has always been great, quality has been great, and I've never left disappointed. I hear they have live music at times. I don't live in SLC so I haven't gotten around to it yet. Anyway, stop reading and go. I know you'll find something you enjoy there.
Chris Dyer
Seriously amazing food, some of the best in SLC. The Gumbalaya is the way to go every time, with the seafood balls to start and 50/50 fries.
Also, couldn’t be happier with how these people are handling COVID. Doing whatever it takes to be part of the solution, not the problem, even if it means they have to stay takeout-only a few more weeks than most restaurants. Love you all for doing that!
Rob Ruebel
Cajun burrito was so good. Sometimes with Cajun it can be sodium overload. Not the case. Perfect spice blend. Largest beer selection in SLC that I’ve seen. Really cool app they created that links to beer rating sites. Apple app search Bayou. Then you will come prepared.
Digital Dave
I grew up in Louisiana and I know what Cajun cooking is. This place, God bless them, is very close and very good!
Pejay Brooks
Definitely a good place for beer. I only had one dish plus the soup but from that dish the food is average for my taste but I'll probably go back so I can give a better review about the food. Good atmosphere though and our service was decent.
Paul Johnson
Amazing food! Crazy good beer selection. I recommend gumbolaya, and a dirty ho to drink. 😏 …
Dave Hahn
Was just at Bayou Restaurant Salt Lake City, What a pleasant surprise! First of all they take care of their help and customers by asking for Covid Vaccine Cards. Wow! They care more about our well being then do politicians. Nice and Thank you.Mark, the owner appears to be a great human. Then, the food and service are really good. I’m visiting fromFlorida and our Covid rates are through the roof! So nice to have a place that cares! Good job, Bayou.

To be totally up front, I'm not a huge fan of cajun food, but my husband is, so we tried the Bayou because he wanted to try it. First, this place is considered a bar, not a restaurant. So all patrons need to be 21+.
The building is really cool. It's old looking with brick wall and hardwood floors. While it looks great, it makes the restaurant really loud with nothing to absorb the sound. It's hard to hear.
Food...we went for the etouffee. My husband really liked it. He said it's not like what he ate in Louisiana, but still good. I got the blackened salmon salad. The salmon was fantastic. But it was literally only served on a bed of lettuce. Nothing else. I think a little feta and nuts would have made it a perfect salad. I subbed out the dressing for the basil balsamic. It was fantastic. I wish I could buy it in a bottle for home.

Amazing restaurant with a variety of dishes influenced with a Cajun touch. Can't go wrong here and for a group of three or four a pizza is a great appetizer to split, especially the white pizza. You will go home with left overs so the food cost is low. The spice level here can go from bland to regret later when the food has been processed.
JD Caldwell
The Bayou boasts a huge beer selection, truly something for anyone. Found just at the edge of downtonwn proper on the East side of State Street, finding parking can sometimes be a challenge, but it's a sizable joint that also includes an outside area if you're so inclined. Staff is friendly, beer is cold and numerous, sweet potato fries are delicious (especially when topped with cheese), what is there not to like?
If you're looking for something out of the norm of pub food, you'll also find some excellent southern dishes that will scratch that comfort-food itch just right.
Christie Pirkle
Love the atmosphere. Rated 4 due to slower service, but there were only 2 servers on the floor. But also, server seemed to want to leave before hearing us finish with what we wanted for food or drinks. The spicy toasted raviolis were on point though! Would gladly go here again!
Niaree Davis
The Bayou boasts an incredibly wide selection of beer! The only fault is that they tend to run out of things regularly, which is understandable with such a large selection. They developed an app that they try to update in real time which you can use to order. However, this didn’t really work for me on my last visit. My food was also delivered cold as if it had sat out for a very long time, but the manager took care of everything to make it right!
Bryan Hepburn
The outside look of the restaurant made me a little nervous, but when I got inside, it was nice, spacious, open, and fun.
The wings were amazing, the Jambalaya burrito was so delicious!!
On top of all that, the service was friendly and great. 😊
I highly recommend this place, one of my favorites in the SLC area!
Jake Puzycki
Hands down one of my favorite restaurants I've ever been to. Loved the atmosphere, service was laid back and friendly, and the pork tenderloin entree was one of the best meals I've ever had.
Came across this place while driving through Salt lake. Not even a local and will try to stop again any time I'm in the area.
Chelsea
Always a good go-to either with friends or family. Nice little patio. Good live music. Would like to know the seafood they serve is sustainably caught so I can keep ordering the tasty seafood balls. Seafood Watch is a good source for information. Humans are overfishing, unfortunately, and it's best to support businesses that care about sourcing.
omdsvaldez
Drinks and music are good but the food did not live to the reputation I've heard. Had the garlic burger and the gumbo and both disappointed unfortunately. The sweet potato fries and the seafood meatballs were very good.
Jodi Kimball
I don't get to go very often The Bayou is not cheap but you get what you pay for, Atmosphere amazing live jazz band on sat night. The beer menu is almost overwhelming. The food is like something of the food channel amazing. Seriously where else in Utah can you get alligator cheesecake. They have beer drink with 2 beers mixed snakebite is my favorite. Even the dessert bread pudding with the bourbon still with kick.So even if i can only afford it once a year it is a trip i look forward too.
J Scott Barnard
Thank you for your informed thoughtful and educated decision to reopen to fully vaccinated patrons. I have loved the Bayou since the beginning and now I love you even more both as a great place for food and drink and as a great neighbor. I will be telling all my fully vaccinated friends and family you are back!! This is once again a fun great atmosphere and awesome place to meet friends and listen to some local acts. Hater go away or at least GET VACCINATED and stop being selfish it’s un-American. These people are taking great risk for you, show some respect.
marissa aguinaga
Friendly staff. Open atmosphere. Fantastic food I personally liked the garlic and chicken pizza with Alfredo sauce! The place was clean. Our food came out fast.

I've loved the Bayou since the day they opened. And still love their sweet potato fries too. Beverage prices have seem to have gone up though. Waiter was cute and super nice. Watch out for weekends, Super busy and long wait. Also, parking here is horrid. Even on a slow day.
Eric Smith
The only establishment in the Salt Lake valley for an unmatched selection of brewed beverages from every corner of the earth. Live jazz bands on weekend nights, Cajun cuisine, and fried Twinkies a la mode w/ raspberry sauce...one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth..period. The Bayou is simply epic!
Craig Foster
The Bayou may be more Cajun than New Orleans (the city). I was blown away by the flavors from the fried oyster poboy I had. It was truly Southern like I haven't had since living there. The food took a minute to come out and the manager came out and apologized profusely. But really the wait wasn't that long and the food was totally worth it. It is a bar and they card everyone upon entering so make sure your group comes prepared with ID. They also have a huge menu so I'm excited to become a regular and try different dishes.
Donita Martino-Garrison
It was my birthday & we decided to try The Bayou for dinner. Oh my gosh they serve huge portions of food! If you are hungry this is the place to go, very nice atmosphere.
Scott Whittle
They just have a ton of beer on tap. Far more in bottle. This place is casual and comfortable. Good specials. Service is good most of the time. There aren't many places that serve this style of southern food. Jambalaya is a favorite. Them there's the jambalaya with gumbo on top. It's the best. Be careful driving down State Street after dinner. There is a police presence just diem the street more days than not.
Ryan Thelin
Awesome southern food! Went here recently and got the crawdad jambalaya burrito. It was so delicious! Service was friendly and quick (and we were with a large group). Highly recommend.
Darren Tidwell
The Bayou…great food and atmosphere as always. Thanks for keeping anti-Vaxers at bay! I dined in relative peace without worrying about the Karen’s yelling out how they’ve been wronged. I wonder if they complain as loudly about “No Shirt, No Shoes…No Service.”
Taylor Warner
Such a cool little place! A must have if you are in town and love cajun style cooking. Some nights there's a live band and it can get pretty loud, but other than that! It's perfection.
Jermaine Bennett
Yummy
DD Mcgrue
Omg. So good. Had an amazing burrito stuffed with jambalaya cajun style. I cant even remember what it was called. Their "bible" of beer is very extensive. Reasonable prices and excellent portions. All in a very interesting atmosphere with excellent service to boot. Dont miss out. Go here! You'll be glad you did.
Joseph West
Loved the food and the atmosphere. I've now been twice - ordered the jambalaya with crawfish the first time, and the gumbolaya with crawfish the second. Food was divine, but I've also never been to New Orleans proper, so my opinion may not be worth much. I will absolutely be going back soon!
Drew Watkins
This is a really cool place. I ended up coming here for dinner (solo at the bar) while here for a conference and had great beer, amazing, authentic food, and really good service. The Gumbolaya with crawfish was one of the most authentic Cajun dishes I've had. They have wifi as well, so I ended up coming back a bit later for a couple more drinks and a side of seafood balls while working till close. The beer list deserves a shout-out in it's own right, and the bartender is incredibly knowledgeable about everything on the list. I'll be seeking this place out next time I return to Salt Lake City.
Graham Larson
Absolutely amazing beer and wine list (I always try one of their meads)but it does also mean it is 21+. Pretty much all the food is amazing but I'd recommend the crawfish etouffee, it's decadent but not too heavy. The only downside is the parking is pretty bad, especially during busy times, and if you are in a large-ish car I wouldn't recommend trying to park behind the restaurant.
Brigg Hibbard
I love the vibe of this place, and they have so many beers to try and choose from which is half the fun! We always have great service, and this is a place for some really homey NOLA inspired food experience. We always get the seafood balls, fried, yummy, and good sauce to dip them into. I ordered the blackened salmon with bayou fettuccine, so good, so much food! The side of veggies could be better( they are real simple, but I dont mind too much). We also got yummy drinks to end the meal, a modern Sazerac, and a kombucha mojito, both were made well and delicious!
S Taddie
A decent place to hang out and get some good food and beer. While not the best Cajun food I've ever had, it IS the best I've had in Utah. There are a lot of beer choices but prices are fairly steep, even for the Utah 4% drafts. Nice atmosphere and good location to other sites.
Tate MacIntosh
Fantastic takeout today from The Bayou! Everything from online ordering to curbside notification and pickup was smooth. Food was perfectly packaged and delicious. I really appreciate the reconfiguring The Bayou has gone through to keep its staff and customers safe — that shows real leadership in tough times. Keep up the great work!
Nish Modi
Great food. Nice collection of beers. The servers were helpful and did give suggestions to drink as well as for dinner. I would have given 4 stars but the day we went there was supposed(we called in earlier)to be a band performance for which we were looking forward too but something went wrong.
Ted Holt
Excellent food and service. I just returned from a trip to Louisiana and this was as good as any food I ate there. It’s good to have options like this in SLC!
Draco X
First time here and the food was amazing. Placed my order to-go. Order taker was super nice. Went inside and the ambiance was everything. Live band. Full bar. Definitely coming back for date night. Bread pudding was super disappointing BUT everything else was so good I couldn’t dock a star. Try the Gumbolaya, it’s amazing :)
Will Nave
Great beer selection, good service, and decent food.
I've been here a few times since moving to SLC and it has always been busy (rightfully so), but I have never had a long wait and service has always been good. They have the best beer list that I have seen in SLC. I don't recollect anything remarkable about the dinner/lunch menu, but the food has been good each time I have visited.
Tyler Fredrickson
Great creole dining! Specials are always delicious (if you can refrain from reordering amazing regular menu staples)! SO MANY great beer choices! Atmosphere and service is always top notch!
Quinn Rollins
A local favorite, specializing in Cajun (in Utah? Yes.) fare and a selection of hundreds of beers. There's actually an app for the beer menu that's updated in real time. My favorite of the meals is Hopping John, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Alex Leman
Incredible place! Stopped in with 13 folks, were seated virtually right away. Amazing beer menu, wine menu is decent too. The food fantastic and reasonably priced. Everyone walked out raving.
Domagoj Jursic
Great Cajun food but the stand out is their beer menu. Huge selection of local and imported as well as a knowledgeable staff who can help recommend great beers. Also, they have a beer app and a screen in the bar with beer stats. Definitely a place to checkout if you enjoy exploring the different kinds of beers out there.
Becky Aaron
This place never disappoints. They have some of the best food in SLC. I love that you have to show proof of vaccination so you don't have to wear a mask!
Patricia Guerrero -chavez
Great place to eat!
try the Cajun burrito so good!
ishara Ariyasinghe
The best southern food in town. Good coktail menu Great service and reasonable prices.
Jeff Hayes
This is a good cajan restaurant. Good decor/ ambiance, service, and menu options at fair prices. I went with some work associates from Virginia, Peru and Colombia. They were patience with them as they struggled with the English menu but we're able to get a good meal and beverage. Well worth the visit.
Dave Geary
Here, get the gumbo. My sister doesn't like this place. But what does she know about Cajun food? The Po Boys are good, and they are attentive with soda refills. I'd go spicier, but overall it's tasty
Korrine Roth
Awesome food and atmosphere. Great staff very attentive and amazing options for a variety of eaters. Definitely a great place for friends, but it is a bar so no kids please.
Abby Eichorn
I SO appreciated the additional cleanliness of requiring vaccines. The food and service was amazing too but the fact that they are taking the pandemic seriously is reassuring. Try the fish basket!
Kris Parks
Great atmosphere and friendly waitstaff. Servers are pretty knowledgeable about beer selection, and generally make good suggestions. Food is always delicious and well worth the wait. Their jambalaya is a must have.
Juan Rodriguez
It's nice to find a Cajun restaurant in Salt Lake, everything from the service to the atmosphere made a perfect date night. There was a very talented band playing, the waiter was very conscious of the amount of interaction people want when eating. And the food was amazing. We made some strange customizations to our food and he accommodated us without issue. The craft beer was great. The food was actually spiced unlike many SLC establishments that aren't southeast asian. And the price was reasonable.
Rodrigo Liberal
The Bayou is definitely one of my favorite picks in Salt Lake. Besides the enormous options of beer, the food is good and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The live music is always top notch (albeit a bit loud at times if you're trying to have a more quiet evening). High energy, casual dining. The outside patio is a plus in warmer evenings. Parking is limited on site, but there's plenty of curbside parking nearby.
Estefania Aguilar
I really like the Bayou. I love the concept, the look, and the food.
Came late on a Saturday night and we were seated quickly despite how busy it was. We were greeted with live Jazz music which was nice. We ordered the half and half fries (half sweet potato, half regular yellow fries) as our entree. I highly recommend ordering this, the fries are perfectly cooked, crispy, and the sauce that comes with it is addicting.
For entree I ordered the crawfish etoufee with added blackened catfish, definitely worth the add on price. It came with a side salad of plain greens with choice of dressing. I would recommened skipping the side salad and paying extra for gumbo or for the half and half fries. The dish was super flavorful everything was well seasoned and cooked.
The service was also nice, and I had an overall great experience. I look forward to coming back for those fries and to try some of their other offerings.
Colleen O'Neill
I love the Bayou! Great bar tenders and the best selection of beer in SLC. And I particularly love their concern for their staff and patron’s well being. Thanks to all the staff at the Bayou!
Rob (Rob)
The food is amazing at this place. The only downside is parking. Highly recommended
LIT UP VIDEO
Had an amazing time here. The staff went above and beyond to make our experience special.
Jade Wheelwright
We had been wanting to try this place for a while and we are glad we did.
the beer selection is overwhelming but its a cool opportunity to try beers you havnt had before. our dinner started out great. we ordered popcorn crawfish, and we got our beers and salad. this is where things started turning less good. once we had finished our starters, we waited a VERY long time for our entrees. our server was nice but we felt like we werent being taken care of.
there were such long periods of time between seeing our server. they might have been short staffed, but since so much time had passed, we started getting full before our entrees. it was pretty unfortunate we had to wait so long for everything, especially waiting for the check.
our food was very good flavors but mine was pretty under salted. not too big a deal but when you add in all the waiting around we had to do, i would give the place 3 stars. BUT, for the atmosphere, hundreds of beer choices, and good food that u cant find other places in the area, i give it a solid 4 stars. i would recommend it and i would like to come back again to try more beers and foods, but i really dont want to if we are gonna be waiting for such a long time again. thats all.
Michael Kaneko
I love the Bayou. The food and the beer are amazing. I wish I didn't have to say it, but, Knowing that this place is very covid safe is really good to know and makes the experience much better.
Shawn Elder
Pleasantly unique fare with a Cajun influence. I've dubbed here multiple times and never had a disappointing dish.
Don't expect the typical wait service however. You'll get great service, but may only see your original waitperson once. Simply put, it's a team effort here.
Nick Fortunato
I'm not really sure what complaint anyone could have about this place. Incredibly fast service and food prep.... servers are excellent... and the food is outstanding. Portions are large and the beer menu is very extensive. This is a must stop .
Mark Worthen
I had the Gumbolaya - it was very tasty, although a bit too salty, and I tend to love salt so that says something. The service was a little less attentive then I would expect, but I was just a solo diner in the corner so perhaps understandable. The atmosphere is lively and friendly with all the seats taken at the bar and the restaurant about half-filled at a relatively early supper hour. Recommended.
Chad M
Rarely rate 5 stars but this might be the best place for beer and southern food in the state. Props to Dave the bartender. If you are a beer lover, dive into the app "The Bayou" for an excellent customer experience. You can look at all of their 200 or so beers and choose your favorites.
Abby Studstill
Beer list is fun. Food is tasty. It does get a bit loud when it's crowded and we have to end up yelling across the table to each other. So show up before 7 if you want to have a conversation! But all around it's one of our go to places for dinner with a good beer.
Scott Johnson
Great lunch! Had bayou burger, great presentation, and tasted great. Coworker had the Cajun burrito and was very pleased. The selection of beer was phenomenal.
David Slykhuis
It is all about the amazing beer list.
Kim Payne
This place is a little unassuming from the outside but the inside is clean and the staff is friendly and attentive. You are carded at the door so the crowd is mature and chatty without being loud. we had the Gumbolaya which is a fusion of, you guessed it, Gumbo and jambalaya. Paired with a salad of fresh baby greens it made for an amazing meal. I added both crawfish and shrimp and it was better than New Orleans.
Timothy Gerber
This place gets pretty mobbed on weekends. Well over 100 bottled beer options both imported and domestic. Best Cajun style food you will find in SLC. I recommend the Jambalaya Pasta. Be patient, get a table request in with the hostesses, grab a beer, and wait for your name to be called. It is worth the wait.
Susanna Aguinaga
The overall experience was nice. The food was good. The only thing that was frustrating was that there was only one server during the lunch rush. One server to at least 5 table with 5-6 customers. Our table had to wait longer than normal for our server to be available to request additional drinks.
William Keiffer
Ten years going, and this place still delivers the good stuff. Not only is it one of the few places you can get good Cajun food in SLC, but the drink menu is so big that you could choke a dozen donkeys with it. It would take years to try every beer they stock. Even after all the years I've been going here, I haven't made a dent.
Trae Collier
Great dining experience. So glad they've opened up the dining room. The catfish is delicious and a superb beer selection
Christopher Stolworthy
Excellent food and a massive beer selection. Many places would be hiding average for behind their beer selection. Not The Bayou! Everything I have had here ( and that is a lot) has been excellent. Great atmosphere, great food, great staff.
Mick Zeller
Cool atmosphere for dining and socializing. There is a huge variety of dishes to pick from, and once ordered is served quickly. The price is high for most dishes but I felt the quality of the food made up for it.
Brandon Johnson
Good beer, better wings
Heather O'Dell
It's a fun place to hang out, and I loved the live music after 9 p.m.! But it can only hold so many people because it's so small. The food was okay and the service was wonderful, so no complaints.
Michael Bronson
Having lived in Cajun country for a bit, I was excited to try this place out. Although it’s not exactly like in the south it’s very close. I got the gumbolaya and I was in love. Loved the environment, the ambiance and the beer/drink selection. Will definitely be coming back!
Charlie Silva
Fantastic Beer selection... Don't forget to download the app for the most recent selections.
Mark Gerken
Food was good. Highly recommend the shrimp po boy and fried crawfish appetizer. Beer selection was amazing. Stuff I haven't seen available anywhere else, not that I'm a local who has been everywhere in SLC.
Aaron Ellis
I was really impressed with the speed of service here. It definitely seems they cater more to the bar and that the place is better known for their drinks. The food was good, just not quite as flavorful as I expected. I tried seafood balls, crawfish, jambalaya and more and was slightly disappointed. Good food don't get me wrong, just nothing to write home about.
Ruth Burkett
Ate lunch here on Monday. Staff if friendly and helpful. Food is generous in serving size. Beer list is ridiculously huge! Must go back here in the evening with a designated driver so I can sample a few of the many varieties.
Marc Brecheen
Really tasty food. Not super spicy. The food had lots of flavor, that wasn't overpowerd by heat. The staff was very friendly and pleasant. Thank you.
Darren Tucker (Blackmoose)
I really like the Bayou. It's very friendly, their food is terrific and the selection of beer is tremendous. Fair warning, it's is somewhat of a bar atmosphere and lots of folks are drinking. I would never hesitate to take kids or non-drinkers hete, but don't say I didn't tell you!.
