It’s good but very small and expensive. Been wanting to try this place for quite a while and happy that we did. got a large pizza and a salad and water came to $50 bucks. The pizza was really good crust is light almost like a saltine. The place is super small and parking is curbside on state and 21st so good luck with that. We sat at the bar. This place may be good for parties of 2 or 4 and it’s not busy. Takeout is a good option if you have more. the service was really good. will go back next time I’m around and in the mood for pizza.

We decided to visit Rusted today, great decision. We came for lunch, the place was full, but we were greeted as soon we came in and they let us know that they were cleaning a table to dine in. We ordered the killer cheese deep as appetizer, wonderful deep cheese, the hubby has the combo pizza and for me the pesto calzone. All food was delicious, the dough on the pizza and calzone really well done. If we could rate 10, we would. Great customer service too.

This is probably some of the best pizza if not the best pizza in the valley. Sauce has great flavor and the crust is cooked very well. It’s not doughy or undercooked and the cheese the sauce portion is great. Service is friendly and the prices are reasonable.

This place is hands down top on my choices for good old handmade pizza. Rivals the places I've eaten in New York and Chicago. Their ingredients are fresh, meticulously crafted together and the result is amazing. Their buffalo chicken pizza is just out of this world. Im bookmarking this as a hidden gem in my visits throughout the USA. Trust me this pizza is supreme in my scale of taste. The service is great, the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. Very genuine customer service! Visit them you will not be disappointed!

We love Rusted Sun!! Their lunch special is a great deal! The salad with the red peppers and red onions is so yummy! The house made ranch dressing so perfect on your salad and to dip your pizza in! I get the BBQ chicken pizza, my husband gets the Buffalo chicken and kids get the cheese! All of it is cooked when you order it and is cooked perfectly everytime! I’ve never had a slice with burn spots! Just perfectly cooked crust everytime! The pizza dough/ crust is so good! It’s hard to take your last bite! Best pizza in SLC!

My family LOVES this place. I have 2 toddlers- and they can be picky with most foods. Every time we come here- they lick the plate clean. I don't feel stressed bringing my kids here to eat as I would at other restaurants. Not only is the food amazing, The service is amazing too. Always greeted with a warm welcome. If you haven't been here- I encourage you to. You'll keep coming back.

Very laid-back place, friendly service from literally every person we talked to. I got the alfredo calzone w/o chicken, the dinner salad, and a cheese bread appetizer and everything was delicious. Their marina is really tasty, too, especially with some red pepper flakes sprinkled in. Because of the layout you can see into the kitchen, which is not only really cool, but gives you a sense of appreciation for how hard food service professionals work to make your meals. Will 100% be returning again, can’t wait to try more of what they have to offer!

The best handmade calzone I've ever had!! Fresh and plentiful ingredients/toppings and their dough is a perfect balance of flavor. The crust wasn't too thick, nor too thin and crisped to perfection. Another delicious tidbit: I learned they make their buffalo sauce in house - and it was amazing! Thick and robust unlike the typical bottled buffalo sauce you find elsewhere. Even if you don't like buffalo sauce you will like this one! Don't let the exterior fool you, there is top notch pizza and calzones awaiting you inside. I wish I ate here years ago!

If you like the pie… you’ll be blown away. Rusted Sun is amazing! They are better than most east coast pizzerias! You are still limited on the menu but IT IS AMAZING THE GARLIC CHEESE BREAD, the marinara (or gravy 😉) the calzones. Amazing

We ordered a 16" pizza with a 4 types of meat and paid almost $30. Had to wait 15 minutes after they texted us to come pick it up. It was lukewarm, of course. And they still used bacon when we asked for none. Good flavor, but sad service and high price. We will not be a repeat customers.

I'm a huge fan of their calzones. All of them. I haven't had one yet that I didn't absolutely devour. P.S. I've eaten here numerous times, the last time I had a meal here was about a month ago. The calzone, which is my go to here, was a little doughy through the center and I found a long dark hair in my meal. It's the first time I've had this type of experience. It will be the last. I could've dealt with the under cooked dough, but the hair was way too much to handle.

Very good pizza, fresh, hot, and the beer was good too. Excellent service. My wife's friend took us there. Took us a little time to decide what to get. The waiter was nice but a little impatient he told us the cook was pressuring him to get us to order. Great food though I had never tried a Calzone and it was really good plenty of cheese and toppings. I would definitely return.

This is a small, quaint location. It is cozy, so don't expect tables for large groups. Pizza and calzones have good flavor, thin crust. If you are a ranch fan it is pretty good as well. Worth a visit.

As a displaced Long Islander from New York, this place crushed it with the thin crust slice. Sauces are made in house, and I could tell from the Buffalo and BBQ chicken slices I got. They also sell BIG slices (think one slice is ~1/4 of a medium pie). Would def recommend making the trip to try it whether you're a resident or visitor.

It was less than 10 minutes to get my calzone ready, which was awesome. Size was really nice for what I paid and it was filled with a lot of ingredients. I ordered the pesto chicken calzone. Didn't finish all of it and kept well in my fridge for a couple of days.

My friend brought over some pizza from the rusted Sun pizzeria to celebrate her birthday and oh my goodness! The crust was tasty and the toppings were delicious we had a chicken barbecue pizza that had onion and bacon It was divine. We had a smaller pizza with cheese and jalapenos and it had to be one of the best pizzas I've had in the valley in a very long time. Definitely will be making the effort to go here from now on for pizza instead of settling for what is around me. Roasted Sun Rocks!

This kind of pizza must be the old country style from Italy where they have a thin type crust. It's sure good; in my opinion one of the best! It's kind of an interesting place, like an old 1950's diner. We've been there a couple of times and next time we're in the area we'll definitely stop in.

The Rusted Sun Pizzeria is the best of the west coast. Start yourself off with a weirdly amazing starter salad with freshly cracked pepper. I recommend the calzones, but the pizza is just as good. The crust is fluffy yet crispy. In fact, the bottom is so crisp even Portnoy couldn't complain. I have been coming here since it opened up. The owner makes the pizzas and the staff is super nice. I moved to Boston and have had my fair share of NY pizzas. The thing is, you can always rely on this place to be consistent. I'd eat here over a Boston/NY place any day.

Came here on the suggestion of a co-worker on a Friday night to pick up some calzones. My wife and I each got one and they really lived up the the hype my co-worker was giving them. For 2 is was around $20 which was very reasonable as it was 2 meals for each of us! We'll definitly be coming back and trying more on the menu!

We were passing by and spent the night at a hotel nearby, my husband was craving pizza and found this place. Everything was delicious, garlic bread with cheese, pizza, calzone. And service was great too, the waitress super friendly and helpful in every way. Loved it so much that we purchased 3 t-shirts (love their logo). Definitely recommend this place and will go again if we’re in South Lake City.

It's harder than you think to find great pizza in this town. But Rusted Sun is one of the gems! I love that they allow you to build your own custom pizzas, and the calzones are fantastic. It's a shame in recent months we've been unable to dine in, because despite the relatively small dining area it always felt so comfortable and homely, especially on cold winter evenings! The staff are always friendly, and I'll gladly support them getting take-out during this shutdown and eagerly await when we can dine in again.

I've been dining at the Rusted Sun since 2004 and never once had a bad experience. The Round Up is one of my favorite items on the menu. Pro tip; add blue cheese crumbles. Also, The Dip is addicting and is a must have if you're dining in.

Pizza Face

Rusted Sun is a controversy in my household, my wife loves it for the same reason that I'm not a fan. But let's start with the basics. The pizza crust has the style of "Neapolitan like" meets "New York". It doesn't fall into one camp and doesn't do either perfectly. But it does have great texture and chew. You can tell that care went into the dough. The sauce, cheese, and toppings are standard with no standouts, but still good. The controversy comes from the heavy handed use of semolina. My wife loves it, I am not a fan. So it comes down to personal preference. If you like your pizza with a heavy dusting of semolina, than this is your spot. I prefer just a flour dusting when working with the dough on the bench. If you don't know how you feel about semolina, check it out... you'll have an opinion afterwards. Other than that, it is a solid pizza.

We are in a pandemic and a small mom and pop shop like this is doing nothing more then taking care of there employees. This place has the best pizza and calzones in the county without a doubt. They have for over a decade (that I've experienced). Only reason I haven't been in the last year is because of COVID and living in the south valley. Again, love this place, love the food, the people, everything... but... After reading some of the posts about 15% mandatory gratuity I know times are tough with COVID, but forcing 15% gratuity on takeout orders seems like a bad idea, because takeout orders aren't being serviced like dine-in orders are. I would think most decent folk would volunteer to leave a few bucks for a take-out tip regardless, but when you force it, you're basically saying that your kitchen staff are paid server wages and need tips like servers (because they do 99% of the work, then someone just rings the customer up). Honestly, eating out is a TREAT, and if you gotta charge more for pizzas to provide living wages for employees and stay open, then figure that balance out. I'd rather pay $25 for a damn good pizza than pay $16 and be forced to tip regardless of the service provided. It's cool you're trying to get more money directly to employees, but don't put it on the customer to hand over money regardless of what service they receive or if they're served or come in to pick up an order. That kind of thing should be reserved for large parties of dine-in where things get complicated.

It's quaint, but so homely and wonderful, the staff are friendly and the owner is almost always in the back making your pizza. The pizza is delicious and I'm sure that the ingredients are excellent quality, because I have yet to find a better pizza. They have lunch deals and beer, which I find to be a great perk for a weekend lunch with my friends. Also they have some great house made buffalo sauce, and some delicious icecream for dessert. It's one of my favourite restaurants and one that I have to go to whenever I'm in the mood for pizza or a calzone. They are always welcoming and the music is always great, it's a good experience every time, and I can't think of another pizza place that deserves my business as much as they do. Nothing quite like local digs, especially ones that are filled with that kind of love for both their customers and craft.

Loved this little pizzeria. It is small, clean, and quiet and has a cool 70s Moab/Southwestern vibe. The pizza was delicious (especially loved the crust) and the staff was friendly and nice. They even made me a beer float which was insanely delicious. Will definitely be back!

The only thing I noticed, as of late is, the place is in need of a deep clean. Some new signage out front? More space? To add, if you lose your keys under the banquette, ask for gloves and some Clorox! Just a thought, I don't know what's upstairs, maybe a chance to expand??? Keep doing what you do! The pizza was excellent however service was a little slow. The seating is mostly comfortable booths and a bar style counter also has additional space. The bathrooms were wheelchair accessible however the dining space felt a little crammed and difficult to maneuver through. Overall it's a small, quiet shop with friendly service and good light.

Utterly amazing! I ordered the combo, 12in, sans mushrooms. Cooked to perfection -- crust was just the right thickness. I added quite a bit of crushed red pepper, but only because I really like at least a little heat. I wasn't left feeling stuffed or bloated. For a pizza with all these toppings it wasn't heavy or greasy. The staff was very friendly and I was welcomed upon walking in the door. They offered me water while I waited for my carryout. Restrooms were clean. Great job guys!! Next time I'll have to ask them if they have jalapenos. I'll likely try their veggie on my next visit.

Excellent crust and sauce. I can see why it's been an institution for 20 years! Small beer selection, but carefully crafted. Excellent options of toppings and reasonably priced. Robert kept me company while I waited, eternally, for a friend. There are some interesting people in the area; regulars who come by from the factory or the county building. It's a really cool vibe. They have booths and a bartop, so it's a great place for either small parties or a quick bite. There is one larger corner booth that may accommodate perhaps a party of 6... 7 if the people are very small! I was recommended the cheesy garlic bread. It was good, but I should have just ordered the pizza!

I don't have anything that was specifically bad, but it wasn't a place I would choose to go again personally. I found the pizza to be just ok and the beer selection was kind of limited. I would suggest going here if you are on a mission to try all pizza places, but otherwise go look for a different pizza place. I know I will be. I do want to give the two servers credit they were very attentive and helpful, maybe two quick to help. Maybe I am just looking into reasons for why it wasn't a five star dinner, but it was a decent price.

My wife and I were in the neighborhood one night and were craving really good pizza - not what you get from a chain. This place definitely hit the spot! It's the kind of place when people talk about "hole in the wall places have the best food." The crust was perfect and the sauce was really good. We got a supreme that had lots of different toppings and our favorite topping by far was the sausage. When we go back, we'll probably get a pizza with just sausage - sooo good! The service was super good as well and the waiter very friendly - I couldn't find anything wrong. Thanks for a great experience!

Best pizza joint in Utah. "Take Note" Guy Fieri!! Feels like walking into your friends house and every pizza tastes like it was made by their ancient Italian grandmother who you know has marinara coursing through her veins and basil leaves for hair. This place is legit. Since moving here and trying Rusted Sun for the first time, we have not (purposefully) eaten at another pizza place. They all pale in comparison. Small and close-knit staff with legendary pizza-making capabilities and hospitality. Customer service isn't even the right phrase. These people are worth inviting to your bar mitzvah, a trivia night at Fisher, or even the birth of your firstborn son. Eat here or continue living your boring existence.

This is probably my favorite pizza place in Salt Lake. They're a good balance of unique and traditional pizza flavors without being overly fancy. The staff is always mindful and in a hurry to meet your needs. The food can take some time to cook, as it's made to order. The prices are reasonable, particularly the lunch special, which at the time of this writing includes a refillable soft drink, one large pizza slice, and a fresh salad. Wholly recommended.

Great people. Dynomite food and great Pizza. Updated review. The past couple months but I've eaten here it just seems to be getting worse. Caesar salad dressing taste like regurgitated vomit. It leaves that after taste in your mouth. The buffalo chicken wings are like chicken breast with sauce on them. No real true flavor to them. The pizza just seems to get more blah and blah. I have been coming here and eating their food but for some some time now just seems like the quality of products and food is getting worse. I think it's time to find a new pizza place. It's the kind of place where they remember your name and what you like to order, if you come often. Everything is made with quality fresh ingredients. If you're not in the mood for pizza or a calzone, their Blue Chicken Salad is a good lighter option (chicken with melted blue cheese over greens, peppers, & veggies - try adding cooked spinach on top with the melted blue cheese & chicken).

Nearly never a wait to get in. The food is fresh and flavorful. The staff is personable and quick with your food and drinks. They keep the refills coming and you never feel rushed. You can order a pie to share or have an individual order. I often split a calzone with associates to keep lunch light (they are fairly large). They made it easy and even split the bill for us.

Always great atmosphere, staff os super friendly and the food is awesome. If I heard it right while eavesdropping on a conversation. Someone involved in the restaurant learned how to make the pizzas from the Pizza University of New York. He had to do a minimum of a master's before starting his 15 year unpaid apprenticeship. After that he was able to bring this art to the world. Remember I was listening to the conversation even though I was not involved in, and I could only hear bits a pieces. I filled in the holes in the story with speculation. The main point is they know how to make good pizzas.

WOW! This place is amazing. I had a shrimp alfredo calzone, and it was absolutely AMAZING! The crust was just thick enough without being too thin or thick. It was baked to a light crispiness. The calzone was filled with a lot of shrimp, alfredo sauce, broccoli, and cheese. During lunch rush, the dining room fills up, so you have to get there early (or order your lunch to go). They also sell pizzas (full or by the slice). I would strongly recommend this restaurant to friends.

The Calzone was great, great fillings, great crust, and a great sauce. Not overcooked by any means, (which tends to dry out the crust and push it towards the tasteless category), they don't skimp on ingredients either. It was a pretty big sized Calzone. Good place to go if you haven't done so before

Rusted Sun is outrageously delicious! My wife ordered a pizza and, as always, the thin crust was perfectly crispy with just the right amount of sauce & cheese. I ordered a a calzone because, in my view, Wally delivers the best calzones in the intermountain region! Wrapped tight within it's crusty shell is a pillow of cheese which, in my case, enveloped sausage, pepperoni and minced garlic. My only warning... be careful with that 1st bite & don't burn the roof of your mouth!

The service was prompt and courteous and the food was amazing. I am from the East coast and miss the authentic pizzeria style pizza.....well, I have found a new home in Rusted Sun. To uote my wife, it's a tantalizing tickler for your taste buds. We split the pasta salad and a calzone. The pasta salad was by far the best that we have ever had. Rusted sun is the best pizza in Salt Lake. The perfect slice to fold in half with the most incredible crust. If I could eat every single thing off of this crust for the rest of my life, I would.

I've visited all of the "top" Salt Lake pizzerias. Many of them fade over time, usually with a change in staff or management. Rusted Sun has not. I can safely say that they have been on my "top" list for more than a decade. Consistently great.
