Reviews of Pane e Vino
Food was beyond amazing! Customer service was beyond amazing. We mentioned that it was her birthday when we made the reservation and to our surprise when we arrived the table had a birthday card and good confetti stars on the table. People thought we were nuts driving from Boston to Rhode Island (we were on vacation from California) but it was an amazing highlight of our vacation and I would do the drive over and over again. Food was very well priced! Thank you for helping us make an unforgettable memory!
This restaurant would've got 4 stars if it wasnt for the long wait to be seated. It seems that there were a couple of large tables that were eating there for at least 4 hours. When we got there at 8 , there were people who had reservations for 7 who still hadn't been seated.
I saw the writing on the wall and we grabbed two seats at the small bar. Once we got seated at the bar, the restaurant was delightful. The food was of good quality and fairly priced. The service at the bar was great. The veal chop was amazing and the lobster ravioli was full of lobster.
We will definitely return and hopefully we will be able to be seated at a table. The manager was very apologetic which we understood that you cant force people to eat faster.
TLDR:
Great customer service despite busy dinner hours and fresh, authentic high-end Italian food.
We made a reservation for a Saturday night and were very excited to come here. However, we weren't seated until over an hour after our reservation time because there was a big family party in the back, and we were frankly very frustrated when we were finally seated.
However, the customer service and quality of the food more than made up for this wait. The waiter and waitresses were professional and lived up to their restaurant's high-end reputation. They took our jackets, presented our wine, gave us new utensils for each dish, etc. We also appreciated them providing us with complimentary calamari to compensate for the delay.
I ordered a seasonal Italian 3-course meal and absolutely enjoyed it! Although I'm very uncultured in Italian dining, the dishes were distinctively authentic. They had fresh ingredients that came together to create nuanced flavors. I especially enjoyed the fish and broccolini of the second course.
We will definitely return to Pane E Vino for its great customer service and delectable dishes.
Celebrated my 2 year anniversary with my girlfriend. We both had a great time. Complimentary valet, amazing wait staff. Everyone was so nice and treated us amazing. Food was pricey but everything tasted amazing. We got fried calamari as an app, lobster ravioli & Lasanga as an entrée and tiramisu. Everything from the bread to the wine was great too. I’ll go back again.
Went for a Thursday night dinner with my daughter. Apps, wine, mixed drink, main courses were all amazing. Our server, Autumn couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating to us. She forgot my double espresso with my dessert, but I was having such a nice time with my daughter I didn't even remember until my ride home! LOL! Definitely my new favorite Federal Hill restaurant.
Visiting the city for the weekend and had to stop off here. Saw the gluten free menu online and was shook. I've never been to any non gluten free restaurant that had this much on the menu. The biggest shock was when he said I'll put in an order for gluten free bread and it was actually fresh baked and delicious. I got the grilled pork with spicy fog fig and gnocchi and my partner got the steak. Both were delicious. We also got the cannolo for dessert with a cup a coffee. A must of you want great food especially if you have to be gluten free
We chose Pane e Vino - Providence for the recent Mother's Day occasion at the very last minute, mostly because we heard how great their Gluten-free menu was. Due to it being Mother's Day & graduation season, we knew it would be hard to book a standard table, and it was. Called in the day of and spoke to Austin who was amazing & let us sit at the bar instead of outside. THANK YOU AUSTIN!!! Our bartenders for the night were Brian & Sam. We were pleased with the food, service & overall vibe of the restaurant. Food & drinks were DEELISH!!!!
Restaurant was a little tight, crowded & noisy...but we managed to enjoy nonetheless.
Will def be back in the future & we happily recommend :)
We just had diner ad Pane e Vino. It a was great experience. Delicious food. Nice friendly Service.
A recommendation for anyone who has a warm heart for good Italian cuisine.
If you come across Providence, Rhode island. Go check it out.
Special thnx to our server/bartender Ryan who made our night very pleasant. Thank you.
Went for a business dinner and since I wasn't picking up the tab ordered the Fruit of the Sea dish. Was spicy!
Only bad part was the bread smells amazing and I stuffed myself on it before my meal came. Bread was 5 star yummy.
Will definitely go back..
Simply brilliant Italian food, in a cosey atmosphere. Highly recommend the scallops! This place is worth the trip from anywhere, though make sure to make a reservation.
JUST WOW!!! ..... I've lived 5 min outside Boston my whole life(44 years). I've been to several Italian restaurants in the North End that get high marks.....
With that said, Pane e Vino is by FAR the best Italian dining I have ever experienced to date!! So authentic!
The atmosphere was amazing! The bar was perfect! friendly and attentive to all customers! One of the best dirty martinis I've ever had! ❤️
And I haven't even gotten to the food yet!....
I had the Braciola Di Maiale! Wood Grilled pork chop with a spicy caramelized fig glaze from heaven!! 🤤🤤🤤
My date had Capesante, Pan seared Scallops that were equally heavenly!
Take the 45 min ride north to RI for this hidden GEM!! You will NOT be disappointed!
Free Valet too! Tip all the staff well! They truly deserve it! 🙌
I can't wait to go back! 😭😎
We had a great experience. The entrées tasted great. I love Italian cuisine. This was the Milanese. Chicken Lightly Fried, Topped With Baby Arugula, Grana Padano Cheese, Cherry Tomatoes, Fresh Lemon and Salmon wrapped with bacon, couscous Pecorino Romano Cream with grilled zucchini
Longtime federal hill staple with authentic Italian food. Had the puttanesca which had a great homemade taste, staff was also very knowledgeable.
We celebrated my girlfriends birthday here and we could not be more impressed! The service was beyond amazing and the food we had was delicious. The table we sat at had a nice birthday card waiting and the restaurant itself was beautiful! We ordered the fried calamari and it was one of the best calamari I’ve had in awhile, she ordered the Lobster ravioli and I had the chicken parm and both were delicious. At the end of the meal we ordered tiramisu and it ended the night perfectly! The manager and staff at this restaurant knows how to make their customers feel like they’re important and go above and beyond with the service! We will be coming here much more often!
Our party of six dined here last night and it was an unforgettable experience! The food was fantastic! I had the duck confit with the walnut and mascarpone ravioli in a truffle honey sauce and it was heavenly. Everyone in our party raved about their dishes. Not to be forgotten anytime soon (especially by my girlfriend) was our server, Simone. Simone made great food and drink recommendations and by the end of the evening, it felt like she was part of our party! In fact, she met us at the door for hugs as we were leaving! Thank you Pane e Vino for the great food and thank you Simone for making us feel at home! Can't wait to go back!
Always great food! Decent service.
Not sure why reserving seats at the already extremely small bar are acceptable. Two seats left open as "Reserved" for at least two hours while patrons are standing..🤷🏼♀️
Meanwhile hostess says "Bar is first come first serve".
Lovely vibe and great service. The gentlemen who attended our dinner was helpful suggestion menu and drinks. I got an off-the-menu lemon cello martini which came just perfectly tasty. The food portion was big and delicious too. We could not have dessert because of that but plan to go back to try their Canoli and tiramisu.
This restaurant was outrageously wonderful!!!
Waiter was outstanding
Food prepared creatively and perfectly
Ambiance sooo wonderful, romantic, creative and cozy!!!!
Timing of service of food was perfect.
I think I’ll never appreciate another Italian restaurant in the US in. comparison to this experience!
Food was very good, with a nice presentation. Service was excellent. David was our server! He was super! All the wait staff were excellent, especially the gentleman in valet! Will definitely go back.
Our go-to for special date nights. The antipasto charcuterie board is a MUST when you go. The stuffed peperoncinis for the board are amazing! Recently our waiter recommended the bread pudding with Caramel gelato and it did not disappoint. The comfort of the bread pudding plus the amazing sweetness of the caramel gelato was the perfect blend of a dessert.
Absolutely love this place. The food is just incredible, the service is impeccable, and it's in a great location. Make reservations and eat lightly before you arrive so you can enjoy the menu!
Amazing menu, service, and cozy atmosphere. Happened upon wine night (half price). Great recommendations from the server. Highly recommend!
Long a favorite of ours....and can't tell you how many people we have sent Pane's way. I'm hoping what we experienced this trip as an anomaly, but I fear it's not. Service has slipped dramatically. Long waits for initial service, long wait for cocktails. The "extras" used to really make this place...olive oil with balsamic for bread service is now a small bowl of olives with no spoon..and the complimentary plate of grana padano cheese is gone. Eggplant parmesan is average, lobster and crab raviolis were tasty but not as notable as we remembered from out last trip.
Delicious food and great service, as always! We have been here several times and love all dishes we have tried. (Parking can be a little hectic on weekends so Uber'd help reduce headache)
My wife and I visited for our anniversary dinner and it was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was great! We would recommend to anyone!
Food was fantastic. One of the best espresso martinis I’ve ever had.
Ambiance was quiet and personal- great for a family dinner/date.
In a city with great American Italian restaurants, Pane e Vino is one of the best. Excellent food and hospitable service from the gregarious maitre'd to the capable wait staff can be expected here. The pasta dishes are tremendous, but don't miss the entrées, especially the veal chop.
Food and service is wonderful. My second time here. Lobster ravioli is my favorite but tonight I had the special, seafood pasta dish and it was very tasty with Neapolitan pasta, wine and tomato sauce coupled with shrimp and lobster need I say more! Completely mmmmmh worthy. My friend had the pork chops, I'm trying those next. The chops along with the fig is divine. The service is immaculate and the staff is very knowledgeable of the menu and sauces. I look forward to going again.
Amazing service. I dropped a fork and seconds later a server brought me a new one. Fully staffed so you never feel like you have to try to flag someone down. Really attentive. Our waitress was soft spoken but very sweet.
I loved my dish. Perfectly done. Was seated, ordered, ate and paid within one hour on a Saturday at 7:30pm (we called in a reservation which is highly recommended here as it gets packed)
My drink was just ok but this is probably the best Italian food I've ever had.
I don't really like Italian food but this place won me over.
Loved this restaurant. Amazing food, attentive service. EXCELLENT gluten free options. We will be coming back!
Always a great meal here. The bartenders are really clever at their craft and the food is awesome!
What a gem...Party of 6 ...Saturday evenng...reservtion made..table on time...Mark took care of us and everyting was outstanding..service...food...Aps and Entrees were great...Birthday celebration for two in our party and Pane e Vino made it a special night...Thankyou!1
I first ordered Pane e Vino take out during the Pandemic in 2020 and it’s been a favorite take away place ever since. The food is delicious and consistent. The team has really mastered their take away packaging and keeps the food warm for an extended amount of time. Definitely give it a try if you’re thinking about it!
Food was amazing. Service was subpar. We were there for several hours and our waitress only checked on us 2 times. I never even received my glass of red wine that I ordered. Other than bad service I can’t complain. The food was great. The grilled octopus I recommend 100%
Excellent meal. Our waitress Katelyn was great, really made us a have a positive experience. We will be back for sure... loved the food!!
Beautiful restaurant, really cozy atmosphere inside and the food was phenomenal. Upscale and fancy but still has a cozy/rustic vibe.
A delicious and good Italian Restaurant! With a lot of fresh products. The staff were really nice and gentle.
On weekends is busier but even though service was really good, and the price is very acceptable!
We went to Pane e Vino for dinner over the weekend and sat outside. Great food and great night! All four of us ordered something different and everything was absolutely delicious! Service was impeccable as well. Hope to be back soon!
Top notch, old school Italian. A great place for a special occasion or just some home cooked Sunday sauce. When in Providence, make this a place to go on your list!
Mark was a great server for a birthday celebration! The food and drinks were great and inside the restaurant was very clean.
Delicious Italian American starters, pastas and entrees. Friendly service and comfortable restaurant. Nice wine list.
Total home run for pan e vino! Had the best night. From food, wine to dessert. Everything was impeccable. Our server joe was outstanding. Personable, funny and very attentive. Don’t forget that all wines are half off on Mondays! Thank you for a wonderful night pane! We will definitely be coming back
I cannot express how much my partner and I love this restaurant. No words are adequate enough to describe the incredible food. The staff is always pleasant, and the owner or manager that is always present goes above and beyond every single time we interact with him. This truly is a special place and has quickly made it to the top of our favorite restaurant list!
Excellent dining experience! Food and service were superb. Their wine list is amazing! The friendly Som Austin will gladly come to your table and educate you on different types of wines on offer. We had a wonderful time!
One of the best restaurants on Federal Hill. Always a fantastic experience.
Great food. Owned by Massimo. this place is very nice inside.
Very high quality food and service. The employees are so kind. I felt like I was in Tuscany! My sister graduated from Brown the day we went and every employee congratulated her.
Our 1st time here and we both loved it. The service was outstanding from the 2nd we pulled up to the complimentary valet to each person that spoke with us or had any contact with our table. Jack had the lasagna and he never says anything is good and he said it was excellent! I had their seared salmon on a cous cous type bed of grain with root vegetables which was fantastic. We both loved the bread and our server was attentive and knew the menu inside and out. It was a great experience we would both go back any time
Delicious food and even better service. Our waitress Simone was awesome, she went above and beyond to give us an excellent experience. We will definitely be back.
The wine and rice balls were excellent however the filet was all fat. So disappointing. Waitress was great. She raved about it so it was quite a let down when my daughter cut into it and it was so fatty.
Excellent local Italian restaurant. It's tiny, so be sure to get reservations. Great food and service.
This was my first time at Panevino, we had a great meal and excellent service ! I would definitely go back !
This restaurant is amazing.
I have a secret menu item to ask for. Get the gluten-free menu, hear me out. Get the Honey Duck Gnocchi that is on the gluten-free menu. It's naturally gluten-free and it's the best dish in Providence right now.
The reason you get the gluten-free menu is because the non-gluten-free version is a ravioli which is still good but too sweet in my opinion.
Trust me, get the Honey Duck Gnocchi.
Beautiful ambiance!! Polite and nice staff. Accommodated children with off menu options. Good dessert. The only problem is if you want a red sauce entree, that I would not recommend. Chicken parm was way too thick sauce not very good. Don’t want to give a bad review but dont want to give a great review because of the sauce. So here it is. If you are from Italian decent and used to a good homemade sauce don’t do it. If you don’t know any better then knock yourself out.
The food was amazing & our server David was top-notch!
Food was delicious. Had the Anatra which is duck confit with mascarpone raviolis. Highly recommend this dish. Service was great even on a busy weekend night.
Nice atmosphere. Great food. Great service. Recommend the arancini and meatballs. Below is the cauliflower side dish and was also delicious.
Pane e vino helped me to host a dinner/graduation party for 16. Austin was so helpful and accommodating to work with. He made sure we had a wonderful night from the table location, to thé amazing server (Breanna) and thé delicious food!! Everyone had a wonderful evening and I would highly recommend (and use them) for your special event !!
Went here for my birthday with my wife and the food was amazing. They made some of the best arancini and chicken parmesan that I have ever had. My wife ordered the duck ravioli and the flavor was out of this world. The service was fantastic and Joel did a great job. I look forward to coming back here in the future. Fantastic food!
My partner and I wound up searching for dinner on a Sunday night after arriving in Providence on the way to Philadelphia from Maine. We stumbled into Pane e Vino hungry and without a reservation. It was packed! but the hostess was very kind and accommodated us. The BEST lasagna and sangria I've ever had. Beautiful decor and atmosphere. Attentive manager. Make a reservation before you go but this place should be on the top of your list when visiting Federal Hill.
Went here for a nice dinner on a Monday with my friend to catch up. Made a reservation and the table was ready immediately. The service was wonderful, the food was delicious, and we finished our bottle of wine without ever feeling rushed. Everything was reasonably priced (and half off wine on Mondays!) - after tip we spent about $150 (salad, apps, dinner, and wine for 2). Excellent experience!
Great food and very accommodating. Gluten free menu was offered upon walking in and the food/drinks were delicious
Eaten here twice and thoroughly enjoyed the experience both times. Was greeted seated and served our drinks almost instantly. The entrees were top notch and the sides amazing. Really love the variety and that gluten free choices are incorporated. Definitely a go to when I'm in the area.
Exquisite. Impeccable. Amazing quality food, good portion sizes as well. My boyfriend and I still don't eat inside restaurants, but we get take out and last night we decided to try Pane e Vino. This place is by far the best authentic Italian food we have ever had. He had the calamari and veal parm, I had the chicken parm and tiramasu. All of it was to die for. If I could give twenty stars I would. We are going to order some family style dishes for the holidays so our family can enjoy this amazing food with us!
I must start by saying, the few times I’ve been here, the food has been excellent. The service, atmosphere and wine are all wonderful. My 3 stars comes from the pasta we ordered last night. Maybe seems harsh. But $21 cacio e pepe should not be overcooked and mushy, clumpy cheese and not saucy at all. I was so disappointed I don’t think I’ll order another pasta dish here again. I don’t normally, and for this reason, order pasta at an Italian restaurant. The prices are astronomical for spaghetti. But, it was Sunday and my partner and I wanted to share a little pasta with our meal. I’ve always had nice meals here, but the pasta ruined a great app and entree last night.
Really great Italian food. We had the stuffed squash blossoms and figs wrapped in prosciutto appetizer specials which were exceptional. For dinner, I had fettuccini bolognese which came with shaved Romano on top. Can't wait to go back!
We had a great experience here. Wine, entrees, dessert all divine, and all served so quickly on a busy night! I got the lobster ravioli and it was out of this world. They got everything right! Will absolutely return.
Dinner outdoors, great service, wine recommendation was spot on, yummy charcuterie board, delicious veal chop, pasta, chicken, and eggplant entrees. Too full for desert, next time!
Excellent Food, Service, & Atmosphere! Will return again!
Celebrated a one year anniversary dinner there. The atmosphere was very romantic! Wonderful wine selection...and the meal did not disappoint! What a great spot for a cozy dinner for two. Will definately be going back soon!
This restaurant is by far one of the tastiest places I have eaten in a while! I’m looking forward to going back!
I have been in a lot of restaurants. But finally I found my favorite. I went 1 week ago to celebrate mi 1st anniversary w. My wife. I ordered the meatballs, lasagna and linguini Bolognesa. Wow! Amazing. Everything felt so fresh, the staff is very nice and polite. All that food plus 2 beer was less than 90$. (We don’t order dessert) and they give you home-made bread, so fresh. You think that maybe there is some Italian mother cooking in the kitchen 😂.
By far the best Italian restaurant on Federal Hill. They have the best Italian cocktail choices, dinner choices, the bread pudding is a must, all reasonably priced. The service is fantastic as well,, we sat in Austin's section...what a great waiter very personable and knowledgeable. Overall always a great experience.
We ate outside here during Federal Hill's Al Fresco street party. The food was great (calamari, salads, scallops, eggplant Parm, Veal Funghi), wine was very nice, and the service was great.
Our server was Lisa, and she took good care of us. Highly recommend
duringg
Very nice restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Our cameiere Luigi was attentive and thorough. We will come back and request him. We all enjoyed, lasagna, chick park, surf and turf special, and the amazing bone in chop. Unfortunately we did not take any photos, go and see for yourself. No regrets.
From setting up the reservation to the end of dessert this place was great. Shannon set up the res and was very pleasant on the phone. Our waiter Zach was attentive and came over at the right times to check on my wife and I without intruding or hovering. Everyone I dealt with was awesome. They all looked as though they enjoyed being there. Upscale, but reasonably priced. Food presentation was very good. I’m generally skeptical of trying new (to us) places as I’ve been to much more expensive restaurants that had poor service and mediocre food. Portions were of good size, we both brought leftovers home. The dessert was great as well. We had the cannoli trio. We will certainly visit again.
Great flavors, weak execution.
Arancini di Riso was cold in the center and one had hard connective tissue with a chunk of bone inside of it.
Olives and bread were on point. The fried seafood mix was cooked wonderfully. Perfectly tender. But the breading was heavy and held the fry oil to the point that when you bit into it, the grease squished out.
Pasta was cooked to a beautiful al dente, but horribly oversauced. Never want to finish with a big bowl of gravy and no more pasta or meat.
And the placement of the outside seating was a hot mess. We had 5 people and my elderly father was seated at the head of the table. Which was nice, but that meant he was directly in the sidewalk where passers by had no room to get around him. One woman actually stopped and expected him to move his chair so they could get by. He was bumped multiple times.
Its unfortunate when you splurge for a nice meal and it doesn't live up to the expectation or the stellar reputation. The wait staff was great. Couple of small fixes and the whole experience would have been great. Would give it another shot. Maybe they were just having a bad day in the kitchen.
WOW-Seven stars! Just finished one of the best meals I can remember. The Beef Carpaccio was easily the best ever!!! The main courses were equally exceptional. We thought they must have some weakness, maybe desert— WRONG. All agreed the Bread Pudding with caramel gelato was also fantastic—no weakness found. Waiter Joe only recommended the Bread Pudding. He was great and fun. Our family lives in Cape Cod and from now on we will fly into PVD rather than BOS to eat at Pane e Vino. Sorry no pics (besides they would not do justice to the flavors and experience).
One of my favorite restaurants on federal hill! The server, Cavelle (I believe her name was). was wonderful. I have been a server and cannot imagine during these times what it must be like. But the service, food, and overall experience were all exceptional. I don’t make it out to Providence often but I will make sure to come back there soon!
Delicious food, great atmosphere, attentive wait staff.
Was decent service and decent food. Only went once but wasn't very impressed. My girlfriend didn't enjoy her meal at all , my duck seemed overcooked. The dining area was so small and tables were elbow to elbow with no room for comfort. Probably wouldn't go back
This place is nothing short of phenomenal! A wonderful experience all around. Amazing service, food & wine. We dined there the for second time this evening & Luigi was one of the best servers I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with at any restaurant, anywhere. Can’t wait to come back!
I booked a birthday dinner for my fiancé , and it was everything I wanted it to be . The customer service was awesome and so was the food. The staff really went above and beyond for his birthday and the only thing I did was list the occasion when booking . I highly recommend this restaurant. Oh and the drinks were strong , nothing watered down !
Small restaurant with some traditional Italian dishes & some Rhode Island foods with an Italian flair. The service was a tad slow but otherwise good, and the food was very good.
My favorite restaurant on Federal Hill. Excellent food and service. Would highly recommend!
Nick was my server tonight he was awesome.... I took my fiance there for the first time for Valentine's day the food was absolutely amazing every bit of every thing ordered and service second to none atmosphere is cozy and perfect ....We Loved it and it was a perfect night out on the hill. We will be back for sure this place deserves a 5 star all day without question just great food authentic and delicious. All the service was great from the valet to everyone involved we are very satisfied and happy. Thank you for an experience eating out the way it should be done.
Amazing in every way. Best zucchini flowers, fabulous specials and also the main menu has favorites that won't disappoint. Our waiter was SO EXCITED about the food and drink he was serving. Lots of pride. A hidden gem at the end of Atwells... Can't wait to go back.
This restaurant is amazing. I came here for my birthday. The place was packed because it was Valentine’s Day weekend, good thing we made reservations. The food and desserts were delicious such an amazing taste. The service was great and the FREE valet was a plus. The place is a little small but the atmosphere is great. Will recommend this restaurant to anyone!!
Great family celebratory dinner with a large party. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The gluten free menu was excellent and our server had the kitchen make a special serving of gluten free calamari. Oh, and the gluten free bread—to die for. I ate an entire basket. Everyone was pleased with the food and service and we would love to return.
Probably the best restaurant I’ve been to in Providence. It’s a really classy place, the kind of restaurant where you’ll feel out of place if you wear jeans. Usually not my thing, but their food was incredible. I’m from Colorado so most seafood here blows my mind but the halibut special was perfection on a plate. Really good wine selection too. Expensive but absolutely worth it.
Table was too small to accommodate two meals and drinks making for an uncomfortable experience. Food and service were excellent. Probability of return Is small, too many competitors with food and service equal or better, and more comfortable.
Honestly, this place is one of the best Italian places I have come across in the United States. Not to mention the price at this place is also pretty fair for what you are getting. I would just like to the mention that the portions are not small so a starter and entre for each guest might be a bit too much.
First time at this restaurant and was disappointed that valet wasn't opened and had to drive around for 15 minutes looking for park. We also had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. Everything else was great. Our server, Luigi, was awesome and the food was amazing. Great night overall.
We have been coming here for years now. Food is always spot on. Definitely make reservations as it fills up quick. The fried potato pancakes are out of this world. Chicken parm is always a classic and the gnocchi is also a favorite. We received a warm welcome the minute we entered the door. Our waiter was knowledgeable and most friendly. The food delicious with a homemade touch! I would return in an instant.
Hadn't been since the pandemic started. Had the fusilli with Sunday Gravy. I had forgotten how great the food was. Fantastic food, friendly service, we'll be back!
Loved the whole experience here. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was fantastic, especially their eggplant dish. Loved the steak special as well! We highly recommend trying this place out. This may be our new favorite restruant on Federal Hill!
Dinner and service was excellent. Our waiter was Jonathan and he was very attentive and helpful. He recommended great wines to go with our meals. We had the meatballs for an appetizer and couldn't recommend more! The place was crowded - definitely recommend reservations, but it wasn't loud and we were still able to have easy conversation. Husband got the Chicken Parmesan and I got the Bolognese - couple right next to us got the same thing, lol. Delicious dishes that weren't enormous - if we hadn't had the meatballs we likely would've splurged on dessert.
Experienced good service including the food expediters. The food was excellent! Space is a little tight - expect to hear conversations at other tables and/or the kitchen/galley area depending on where you are seated - but don't let that deter you. This place is pretty great and certainly one of the best on Federal Hill.
Not sure how this is one of the highest rated restaurants on Atwell. Lovely people, but drinks and food are average at best.
Great food and service at appropriate prices.
The food was delicious and our server was great. HOWEVER we had a reservation but were not seated until 30 minutes after our reservation. Our food took 1 hour to get to our table. You would think a restaurant would provide a complimentary appetizer, drink or dessert however this was not the case. Also, being apologetic for these issues would go a long way however none of the staff appeared to be phased by these issues.
Decent Southern Italian food and atmosphere. Service way very good and accompanying. For the prices, would expect better quality and quantity. I had the fra diavolo with scallops. The portion size was small and the sauce was pasty. I will try other area restaurants first before returning. Just too pricey for what you get in value.
We visited Pane E Vino for our anniversary. Our family surprised us with a gift card. Luigi was our waiter, he was amazing! Friendly, knowledgeable and professional! We started with the Italian cheese plate which was amazing. My husband had Seafood Fra Diablo, the pasta was so fresh and tender and the sauce had a great kick to it. My scallops were perfect. This broke our streak of terrible anniversary dinners! If you're seeing a show, give yourself an hour at least to dine so you can really enjoy your experience, it's worth every penny!
Reservations made for 715, not sat until well after 745. My date and I both ordered a glass of the same red wine to have with dinner. We received two completely different tasting glasses. We figured maybe one was poured from the last of a bottle and then the second may have been a new bottle? Unsure we advised the waitress whom then called over the manager. He was a gentleman and insisted that both glasses came from the same bottle and poured a new glass. The service was attentive minus the wait time, the food was mediocre, my dish was room temperature and his was steaming hot. Also the tables are extremely close together. We sat beside a group of three who were loud and impossible tune out. Overall a decent experience, however due to our wait time and mediocre food I don’t believe we will return.
I had first been to Pane-E-Vino about a month back with my colleagues and our experience was great in all ways. So I had highly recommended this place to my friend and this past weekend our families visited for a celebration. We had made a reservation for a party of seven (4 adults and 3 kids) for 8:30 PM. We reached the restaurant at 8:29 PM and we were told it will take a few minutes for our table to be ready. There were a few other parties waiting for their table at the same time, at least one of them was a large party as ours. Within a few minutes everybody else had been taken to their tables and our party was the only one waiting. At about 8:45 pm we were told again that the previous party at the table is just about wrapping up and we should have the table in a few minutes. It was only at about 9 PM that we finally got the table, this was 30 minutes late in spite of making a reservation (all parents will know what a 30 minute wait is for dinner when kids are with you). I found this very unusual.
Another unusual thing was that their website says "A 20% gratuity will be added to parties of 8 or more". However this 20% gratuity was automatically added even for us, a party of seven. While the 20% was deserved, I felt it was wrong on the part of the restaurant to add it automatically for our party. Food was great, but I felt overall experience wasn't.
I visited Pane e Vino with a group for a birthday dinner. Everything was exceptional. The valet made it super easy to get in to meet everyone on time, service was impeccable and the food was so delicious. The interior is super cozy and it really makes for an intimate experience. They have an extensive wine list and a huge gluten free offering. At one point we ordered a bottle of wine and didn't like it and they offered to exchange it for a different one. I wouldn't hesitate to book a table here again. It's perfect for special occasions!
I have not been to this resturant but so happy my husband and I had dinner here tonight ! It was simply amazing. From pattie our waitress, the wine, lighting and food... was just incredible. I had the salmon and my husband had the lobster risotto. We usually stay away from the hill but glad we drove by and decided to eat at Pane e Vino. We will be back
Thank you for a great dinner !
Absolutely spectacular food. Had the chicken Milanese & it did not disappoint
What an evening! Delicious food in a warm and charming atmosphere--like being back in Europe. The Cosmo and negroni were perfectly made, Jason's service was attentive and professional. Ending with the bread pudding should not be missed! We can't wait to return for another wonderful evening!
Amazing service, great wine, and great food. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time, this place is worth it!
Great service, easy pickup, gluten free accommodations, and delicious
I made a reservation for one, which meant I had to sit at the bar. When I asked for a table, I was told I had to sit at the bar. Then bartender said the seat I was sat in by the hostess was reserved for someone else. Felt very unwelcome.
Then I sat waiting to give order for 15 minutes. Mind you I decided in less than a minute and sat with my menu closed while I waited. Then the people who my seat was reserved for came and wow, they were treated completely different. They immediately got drinks. They were asked about ordering appetizers, and given bread. All before I got talked to at all, and while i sat and waited. Bartender finally said "do you need something?" I said, yes to order. I finally did. Food was good, not great. Service obviously lousy. Another regular came and sat next to me and was treated like a VIP. So I guess it was just me who was treated like I was inconveniencing the bartenders.
We were there with a large group of people (over 30) after a funeral. Service was good despite the size of our party. We were glad they had one vegan option on the menu which was very good. More than one vegan option would have been better!
My favorite restaurant on Federal Hill in Providence, RI. Food is consistently excellent and the staff is always pleasant. Thanks to Sam and Marcus. Just celebrated my birthday with friends and it did not disappoint.
The food and service were both top notch! They also offer gluten free options even though they aren’t listed on the menu. Bonus: Mondays are HALF PRICED wine, by the glass OR bottle!
Delicious Italian! Beautiful back patio! Meatballs are a must! Also had the risotto and Caesar salad which were great!
Extensive Gluten Free Menu
Attentive Waitstaff
They even have gluten free dinner rolls if you ask (they're the best i've ever had) Reminds me of Harry Potter inside.
We order the specials. They never disappoint.
Great atmosphere and staff. Highly recommend. I walked past this place on Atwells quite often but finally I went in. Do not pass this place up! Great food and drinks. Watch the game at the bar, have a date at the tables, worth the visit for sure.
While visiting Brown University, my grandmother, mother and I stopped by my all-time favorite Italian spot. I had been dreaming of coming back to this place for two years since we last visited. As usual, the service, food, decor, and overall atmosphere were impeccable!
We had a great experience here. Our server, Austin, was very attentive and knowledgeable on the wines, menus and gave great recommendations. Food and wine were all excellent and we will be back again!
We took the commuter rail down for Boston after work one night specifically to visit this place. All I can say is that it was worth it. Started at the friendly bar, with a couple of generous cocktails expertly poured and garnished, and then took our reserved table in a quiet side-room. From start to finish, each course was flawless. Flawless delivery, pacing, and composition. The triple cream burrata was made from local mozzarella cheese, and each of the three pasta dishes we ordered to share were best-in-class. But the standout, the dish that makes me want to go back every week, was the Anatra, the roast duck with fig & walnut ravioli. Seriously one of the best duck dishes I've ever tasted, Highly recommend this place.
Walked in (2 top) on a Saturday evening (630PM) with no reservations. Female (young) hostess was very accommodating and found a table and told us we would have to be out by 830PM because of incoming reservation. Okay fine. Patti waitress was very nice. However, delayed timing coming to table (busy, understandable). Food was delicious!! No complaints on the food. 7:50PM wrapping things up at table and waiting for check. Male support host (?) or manager (?) tall wearing sport coat was standing POS system - was staring back and forth with me and his watch very eagerly looking for us to leave. Additionally, other staff was trying to approach this male & he very rudely exchanged conversation and attitude with them which was very uncomfortable to witness. At 7:57PM we got up to leave & i barely got around the table before the staff hounded the table to flip.
As a previous hospitality professional, I completely undefstand the crucial timing in a table flip & flow of customers. I was very aware we had to be out by 830 as stated by female host. However, it did NOT even take an actual conversation for me to feel offended or rushed at this establishment which is definitely not how to create a repeat guest.
The food was on point from apps to dessert!
Fantastic atmosphere and food. Arancine appetizer is great! Fruite de Marre is good, not the best, but good. Our waiter was super knowledgeable as well as accomadating. Highly recommend.
Fantastic meal, from the calamari, arancini, veal and pasta dishes through amazing cheesecake dessert. Top notch service, lovely atmosphere. Very special experience!
The atmosphere was amazing, the sitting was perfect and the service was excellent.
The service, food and drinks were all excellent. The espresso martini, the halibut, the CHITTARA A CACIO E PEPE, and the apps were all very very good. I wish I had realized the outside seating is unavailable when OpenTable does not give you the option to click outside. When Atwells Ave is closed to traffic on the weekend, it is very cool to sit outside on the street and take in all the sights and sounds.
The food was amazing. We went in just to have an seafood appetizer. The bartender recommended the grilled octopus served over giant beans appetizer which was so good we ordered the sea scallops served over ravioli. Best seafood ever.
Excellent service, good wine list, ordinary food. Four of us had father's day dinner. Service from Patti was attentive and pleasant. Caesar salad was good. Beet salad had hardly any beets and small portion of arugula, below expectations for beet salad. We got 2 chicken marsalas, one pasta dish, and the veal osso bucco special. All ordinary, none well flavored. I read lots of reviews here with superlatives. Hard to believe. Maybe the kitchen had a bad night. At this price level I expect homemade pasta, but theirs is all imported from Italy. The super tuscan wine Patti recommended was perfectly fine. The salted caramel ice cream was very good. Noise level a bit high for conversation. I have had much better quality food on the hill. Do not plan to return.
Wow!! Cannot wait to come back. Octopus, scallops were better than most meals we've had in Boston. Be sure to check out the italian wine store next door while you wait for your table and they may have tastings going on.
Probably the nicest waitstaff I have experienced in my life. I don’t leave reviews, this was just good.
We've been going there for years. Excellent service no matter how busy they are, and the food is always on point. We've never had a bad meal there.
Great food. Pleasant place for fine dining. Excellent wine list to accompany your exceptional dinner. You will return again to the best Italian restaurant in Providence. Enjoy!
Had our Christmas party here, the food and the service were amazing I highly recommend this place.
Awesome food. If you are visiting Area is really nice as well. They have gluten free menu. I had gluten free pasta with Alfredo sauce was out of the world. They served olive oil with fresh gf bread roll. Yes stick to wine cocktails are okay. But it's italian...
We went during Providence Restaurant Week and had a fantastic 3 course meal for $34.95. Absolutely delicious, from the stuffed zucchini flowers, to the entree ( linguini with tuna, anchovies, olives, garlic, etc) and the incredible dessert.... tiramisu! All get an A++
Wine, food, and service was fantastic! Recently moved to the area and Pane e Vino was recommended to be. Highly recommend the Arancini for an appetizer, lobster ravioli and bolognese as your main, and the cannoli for dessert. The pasta was fresh and cooked perfectly. We will be coming back!
This place was fantastic, we had a 8pm reservation but a few tables wouldn’t leave. The manager came over to my group multiple times to apologize for the wait and even gave us two free appetizers for the inconvenience. A+ customer service and the food was amazing as well!
This place is a find. The pasta is perfectly done. Staff is pleasant and attentive. You won't be disappointed.
Excellent! Everything about it from the host to oir service w Edward. He was a terrific host. Very knowledgeable and accomdating without any pressure. Instead of beig entrees on a hot summer night, we had several apps and some drinks. Fresh, delicious.looking forward to going back
First impression was standing at the host podium for about 7 to 10 minutes with no one looking up to greet us, or anyone else. A young lady had worked the res system, bustled with menus, but never looked up at patrons. Finally, a young man I assume was the acting host appeared. He too immediately started tapping away at the reservation system without looking up at anyone, let alone me leaning on the podium. Finally, I asked if anyone wanted to check us in for our reservation and he seemed surprised that no one had greeted us. I told him our dinner res time and he says "thanks" and started pecking away, dismissing me...really?? I asked "are you running on schedule or behind? Should we come back in 15 mins at our time or longer?" "Thats a good idea" he says. What? Isn't that your job, to greet people and inform them, maybe welcome them to the bar?
It wasn't just me, but people piling up in the door; no one had been greeted at all for the 10 or so minutes we stood there.
The bar is small and packed. My wife and I left and had a drink at empty martini bar next door (bartender was talkative, attentive and nice). We came back at 7, this time hailing the host so as not to stand around again, and found out another 20 to 30 mins. Another couple in line chatted with us about a similar lack of attention. I dont care about a 20 min late after res since its common on a packed sarurday night.
I was able to get to the bar to attempt to order a glass of wine for us. Neither of the bar tenders looked up at all. I stayed at the bar bc I thought it was interesting, this culture of not acknowledging customers. I asked a couple seated at the bar about it and they actually chuckled and agreed.
Finally seated, the meatball appetizer was very good (what makes this 3 vs 2 on rating) as was the caprese salad. The waiter was fine, although we waited 15 minutes for our drinks. When i reminded him, they appeared within a couple of minutes. The entrees were fine. I had the veal, ordered medium rare, but came out a strong medium. I didnt send back as we had a 90+ minute drive home. Taste was good, not astoundingly delicious. Service was fine.
This is a long review. I was so dumbfounded by the experience at the front desk, i felt compelled to get it out. I eat at the best restaurants across the country. My wife and i drove from central Connecticut to enjoy a Federal Hill experience. I tipped the guy who valeted my car 20 when i dropped off... we were celebrating our 22 wedding anniversary; a good reason to be optimistic and happy. To say this was a bit of a let down is an understatement. Regardless of how busy a restaurant is, the host must be customer focued, attentive, organized and warm. Maybe it was day 1 of the job, but it was a very bad experience.
PANE E Vino
OMG!! At 365 Atwells Ave. in the heart of Rhode Island’s little Italy lies Pane E Vino a restaurant that’s a cut above the rest. Impossible to drive by without being captivated by this charming quaint building with cascading flowers from every windows flower box. The allure from the light of candles beckons you in. Once inside the aroma from the kitchen will delight your senses. The entrees exiting the kitchen are of the finest quality, beautifully presented, a masterpiece on a plate instead of canvas. All ingredients are bought fresh daily then prepared with the utmost care; mixing herbs and spices in such a unique way it leaves you wanting more. Each entree is paired with a different vegetables made to complement the individual dish. Simply amazing!
No matter what you select, be it Veal or Steak will melt in your mouth, the Seafood dishes are so fresh and clean tasting you can’t put down your fork and the pasta, well the pasta, goes without saying, “to the tooth”. Pane E Vino’s extensive menu has something for everyone. Portions are very generous and the prices are reasonable. The menu created by Executive Chef Joseph De Quattro is a stroke of genius. Pane E Vino undoubtedly deserves a MICHILIN STAR!
How do I know all this? I know because it was Mothers’ 90th birthday so my sister and I planned a very special event for her. Since we reside in Florida this was no easy task; except, we had the very good fortune to choose Pane E Vino owned and operated by Joseph and Esther
De Quattro. I called the restaurant from Florida asking to speak with the event coordinator who happened to be Esther herself. Lucky us! To my surprise, Esther knew how to listen and when I explained what I wanted Esther simply replied. “I’m here for you please don’t worry I’ll do anything to help”. Immediately my fears were put to rest. Anything I asked of her from start to finish was never a problem. Even my decorating instructions, including the setting of the tables with the runners, napkins and flowers were handled impeccably. I couldn’t have been more pleased if I had done it myself. To my surprise the staff at Pane E Vino’s was NOT your ordinary, going through the motion workers; no, not at this restaurant. Every member exuded an air of pride in their job. All of them truly enjoyed working at this restaurant. Always smiling, happy to help in any way, and the camaraderie among them was sincere. They were as happy to be there as we were! Unbelievable!
I can’t say enough good things about Pane E Vino. Now two weeks later and my family and friends are still raving about the food, the wine and the service. Some of them have already returned for an encore. Pane E Vino is an experience in dinning. This restaurant a must. If you are traveling, take the time and detour to this restaurant. I promise you won’t regret it.
P.S. A very special thanks to Esther De Quattro.
Half price wine night makes it worth it!
Overall pretty great. Fantastic food and decent service. However, they stuff too many tables into their space. Not much room between tables and the tables are quite small- perfect for a cafe, but not ideal for a restaurant.
Went to Hemenways for dinner last night. Swordfish was very good, served with fresh green beans and fingerling potatoes. One member of our party had a 2 pound lobster served fisherman style. Beautiful presentation and the lobster was sweet and delicious. We have always enjoyed fresh seafood and good service at Hemenways and we're not disappointed last night!
What a delight! The meal (the Duck for me) was excellent and the cocktails were remarkable (Italian Old Fashioned and Amalfi Negroni 👌). Also, Edward was a tremendous addition to our experiernce. Great place for an excellent dinner. …
Wonderful place, generally great food...this particular nice I was disappointed with the cacio e pepe....gummy, not creamy....I guess it takes a Roman....next time I'll order something else...
Enjoyed a glass of Tuscan outside with the antipasto... absolutely perfect night on the hill!
You can't go wrong if you like Italian food. Spend a little extra and fill up on the good stuff! Cap it off with a little espresso And a light dessert.. you won't soon forget it
Incredibly sweet, attentive service and absolutely delicious food. They have an extensive gluten free menu and no problem navigating other allergies. Can't wait to go back!
Great food! Extremely consistent with tasty meals!
Excellence at its best! This was our first time dining at the restaurant. What a great experience. The service and food were great. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. Amanda was our server and did an excellent job. We will be back for sure.
The food was absolutely delicious! Very accomodating to my gluten allergy and Our waitress was great. It was a bit loud in the restaurant and we were seated about 20 mins after our reservation time.
Pane e Vino is without a doubt the best restaurant in Providence. I have never had a bad meal and the staff is always so friendly and accommodating! I Highly recommend Pane e Vino if you are looking for a great, authentic Italian meal!
I love this place! I had the pleasure of dining here on a Monday night. Words cannot describe their aqua pazza, a poached Chilean sea bass over cows cous. Everyone in my party enjoyed what they had and one of my friends was kind enough to share his 4-cheese gnocchi with me, OMG they were out of this world! To top it all off all off, their wine is 1/2 price on Mondays! This will be our new "go to" restaurant in Providence. A big thank you to our server Allyson, we had a great time!!!
Pane e Vino is one of our favorite restaurants to visit on Federal Hill. They have a great wine selection that pairs wonderfully with and dinner you select. We probably visit 5-10 times a year and we're never disappointed.
Absolutely phenomenal. Luigi was absolutely amazing our greet time was very fast everything was perfect from the food to the service hands down one of the best servers I’ve ever had! Thank you
Took my family for a Sunday casual dinner and ended up loving the place. The service was great and the food simply phenomenal!
Five stars because you get what you pay for, which is solid Italian food. I had the gnocchi in tomato sauce with fresh mozzarella (and yes, it was real San Marzano tomatoes, cooked simply with garlic, basil, and maybe some white wine.) My girl had the breast of chicken with porcini, wine, and cream reduction. Gnocchi was nice and fluffy (no "stomach bombs") and both the chix and porcini sauce were done nicely. I had bruschetta napolitana which was lovely, the bread having been obviously toasted over wood. Also tried a duck tagliatelle which was excellent - the capolavoro of the whole meal.
Nice to find a good Italian (and moderately priced) restaurant in the otherwise totally caffone guido-fest of Federal Hill. Won't find it in the Michelin guide, but you will find me going back to try the reasonably authentic and often locally sourced foods. P.S. Good for dates, but call ahead and request a more private table in the back dining room.
First time here, it was amazing. I had the lobster ravioli, best ever. My fiance' had the fusili with sausage and meatballs, also amazing. I will definitely go back!
The best Italian food I've ever had. The atmosphere is so relaxing and the staff is warm, friendly and very knowledgeable. A truly outstanding restaurant!!
The lobster ravioli was the best I've ever had and service was exceptional!
Luigi, who had only been serving for three weeks, was fantastic. Courteous, well versed in the menu, presented all the specials from memory. We come every time we are in Providence.
Came for a birthday dinner. We were seated 35 minutes after our reservation. They offered us free drinks at the bar. Wait staff very friendly.
Very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Was able to get a drink while waiting for our table. The food was good, but definitely not worth the price. Very friendly staff.
This is mine and the wife's favorite restaurant on the hill. You can't go wrong with any dish and their bread pudding is the perfect end to a meal.
Food was absolutely delicious..service was superb .....just need more elbow room from tables left and right to us..way too close....
Wow. Pasta fagioli was best I've ever had. This is a nice restaurant. Clean and friendly environment. We will be back.
Food was delicious ! Pasta with meatballs. Portions were awesome. Nice and clean. Staff were very attentive to our needs.
Everything was perfect for my son’s birthday. There were decorations on the table and the dinner was unbelievable (best i have ever had and it didn’t break the bank!) Can’t wait to go back.
1) Top quality food and menu selections.
2) Were willing to modify food to accommodate my lactose intolerance
3) Friendly, knowledgeable staff
4) Beautiful ambiance
I look forward to going again soon, and highly recommend it.
Solid experience, and the staff was wonderful. Mounds of mozzarella, or other cheese seem to,be used to cover up some of the less exciting eats. Overall tasty.
Best Lobstor ravioli that I have ever eaten and my son and Husband had the grilled halibut my son just said it was amazing and made his mouth feel so happy!! Great service and amazing food highly recommend it!!
Great Birthday dinner! My veal chop was not served Medium rare but it was still good! Desert of bread pudding was on point!
Amazing! Real tomato sauce. Thinly sliced eggplant. Great bread. Friendly service. And a $20 prix fixe menu on weekday evenings.
We're a family of foodies from Rhode Island no less and Pane e Vino has never disappointed us! We've enjoyed lunches and dinners here at various times of year...meat, vegetarian and fish....each choice has been a winner!
Warm atmosphere. Very good food. Great service. I'd skip the Eggplant Parmesan but everything else was excellent.
The food and service are always 5 stars here. Great wine list, too.
Superb as always! Amazing service and the food is to die for!!! Highly recommended.
Excellent food and great wine list that won't break the bank.
great atmosphere and delicious food and drink. everything was spot on and our waiter Edward provided the best service and experience!
Visiting home for a few days from Mississippi & found this cozy, Tuscan style gem. Impeccable service provided by Leo. Also enjoyed the perfectly prepared Mussels.
Great place. Original food. Excellent drinks.
Food was just ok and wine wasn't that great. Both glasses had their bottles sitting out for a while I bet. The bolognase was dry. Needed more sauce. I expected more for being on Atwells.
Amazing chocolate cake. Bolognese is very well seasoned. The veal chop with lemon sauce is way too sour.
Food was fantastic, excellent Italian cuisine, fair prices, excellent service, Edward the waiter was outstanding, the rest of the wait staff was excellent, decor was wonderful.
Always delicious food and great service!
Had a reservation for 7:00 was seated 10 minutes early . The staff was really attentive my girlfriend knocked over her drink the table was remade in minutes food was the best I've had atmo was very nice also would go back again for sure

Looking quiet from the outside its unassuming but the food on the inside is incredible. The staff is attentive and makes Pane e Vino a must eat when in Providence.
Outstanding Italian food, fair prices, service is exceptional!!! It's a RI must eat destination in my opinion. One of my favs.
Very good food. Great service. Small surrounding, wish were bigger, but otherwise great restaurant, highly recommend it.
We went for a birthday party. The food was excellent, but the service was extremely slow. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5.
Had a takeout order with a variety of appetizers. Delicious and decent pricing.
Pane e Vino is always a go to. The food is always excellent and it is a truly great Italian experience.

This place is amazing
Fantastic place to eat. If someone in your family or party has food allergies, they are very sensitive to that. It is addressed as soon as you enter the restaurant. Great food! Service was excellent, a no-brainer when you are in Providence and want a good meal.
My guilty pleasure is the bread pudding here. While the food is alway delicious as the wine selection is top notch…..the bread pudding comes to mind first for me. So delicious
Spectacular food and service. David was our waiter and he was very attentive. The menu had a little of everything and was delicious!!!
As promised, the bread cake was astonishing. Cheers from France. Thanks for preventing ww3.
The restaurant is pretty good and the service is nice. The gnocchi was pretty good with the red sauce.
(Translation) A lively place typical of an Italian cantina, friendly service, and a salmon to lick your lips. Great experience.
