Reviews of Stammtisch
Kellen McInerny
This is probably my favorite and what I regard as the best German place in Portland. It does everything very well.
If you want to have a weird authentic drink then order some of "diesel". It is hefeweizen and coke put together. An adult root beer float.
All the pickled vegetables were sour and crisp.
Michala Moore
Went here on a recommendation because I was wanting to try a good German restaurant. This blew all my expectations out of the water.
We want to make it a goal to try everything on the menu.
The staff was 10/10 super nice, helpful in choosing between different beers or bratwurst.
Can't wait to come back, honestly was so happy we went out for this tonight.
Didn't picture everything we got because it was too good to think about documenting!
A very enjoyable experience.
The restaurant has big windows that you can open and it's very airy. You may get an occasional whiff of cigarettes but not anything to ruin my mood.
Good atmosphere all around. Can't wait to return.
Megan Mayall
This is a great German restaurant with great good and staff. I had the rabbit and it was delicious, fall off the bone tender. My husband had the sausage with sauerkraut. The sauerkraut was the best we ever had. Nice selection of cocktails and beer. The staff was friendly and helpful. Parking is street parking in a neighborhood setting. We will definitely be back
Ryan Ghan
We enjoyed our stay, the beers are tasty, the atmosphere is chill, and offers a comfortable sit down. The service was mediocre as our food took roughly 40 minutes or more to serve. The food was fairly mediocre and pretty expensive. The schnitzel didn’t have much flavor and did not come with any substantial side. I think I enjoyed the beers more than the main course.
Parker Hamilton
Really lovely. This German food was not heavy at all; rather, the beet rübesalat was light and refreshing on a warm night. Schnitzel was balanced well by the sides. Definitely get some of the house mustard... it bites back!
Dave Silva
Great German food in SE Portland. One of the few place I give 5 stars. The wienerschnitzel is moist inside and fried just right on the outside with good breading (doesn't taste like it came from a box like so many places). The pork knuckle is very rich and Smoky and juicy. The beer selection is good and goes best with their wonderful pretzel 😁
Jarrin Benson
Classic German bar in a great setting. Had a great experience here. Ample seating indoors and out are managed well with friendly and efficient service staff. Had a charcuterie board, beer cheese pretzel, and a few half liters of beers. Will become a regular spot!
Louise Ng
Decided to come here to change things up a bit and enjoy some German food. I got the Lachs (salmon) while my spouse had the Jägerschnitzel, and my toddler had the Kartoffelpuffer. Overall the food was delicious and the service was great.
Ian McVay
Best German restaurant in Portland by a long shot. We came on a recommendation and are sad we hadn’t found this place sooner! We can’t wait to come back to try more authentic beer, food and strudel!
Brant Gisi
What a truly wonderful place. German potato salad is warm, and tasty. The Currywurst was outstanding. But the star of the show is the Rinderbraten. Oh man. It was phenomenal.
J Jarrell
One of the best German restaurants on the West Coast, with exceptional food and rotating taps of German beer. Lucked out today to find draft Ritterguts Gose, arguably the best anywhere but nearly impossible to find in the US. Cool vibe, low-key, helpful staff.
F G
I love a theme and enjoyed the German vibes in the food and decor. Lots of beers to choose from. Vegan options were very limited as far as I could tell but the menu wasnt very descriptive. My partner got the pork schnitzel and it was HUGE so I would make sure your hungry if you're planning on trying it. He said it tasted good but it was really dry and could have benefited from some sauce or gravy. If german food is your thing this would be a great place to try.

Flew to Portland for the day JUST to come to Stammtisch - my only regret was not being able to stay longer and eat more. The staff was incredible, the atmosphere energetic, and the food? The food was beyond my wildest expectations. I grew up in Germany, and this food exceeded my standards for authentic, delicious German food. Thank you to everyone at Stammtisch - you made this trip so worthwhile.
Century
Fantastic service, great beer, amazing food. What more do you need? I was craving Currywurst and I found it here with a great Weissbier to wash it down.
D’ma Extraordinaire
Solid! Personable, vibrant staff who know their menu and are extraordinarily helpful. The food was good. The ambience was lively and entertaining. Stammtish’s menu is limited but you can most definitely get a well prepared meal at this establishment. We started with the pretzel and enjoyed a bowl of beer cheese soup. Both palatable. Mr. Wonderful had the schnitzel, warm potato salad and shredded carrot, there wasn’t a crumb left on his plate. I ordered the Maultaschen stuffed with leeks. They were quite good! We ordered spätzle and a knackwurst to take home. The spätzle is sautéed in butter and it was good and I will be turning it into kasespätzle this evening! The beer list is decent and they are able to make recommendations to what your preferences are. We look forward to returning.
Becca Schultz
Loved it! Very authentic and delicious German culinary experience. Just the right amount of butter. :)
We came in with a reservation for 13 for my friend’s birthday (I know, too many people!) and the staff was happy to accommodate. All our food and drinks came out promptly and overall I was just impressed with how they handled such a large group. Will definitely be back!
Lindsay Sherrard
Just simply a lovely experience! A delicious array of beers, and a tempting menu. We only drank beer, but next time I go I really want to try their asparagus soup and some of their other dishes that just sounded delectable. Courteous staff, great service. They have a program that after getting 50 pints, you get a free t-shirt and on up to where you can eventually get your own lederhosen! Very congenial atmosphere.
ginger chris
Kind of dragged into this choice but wow!! Excellent fresh ingredients and options. Service was great. We were able to get a seat immediately, took our orders quickly and appetizers were very rapid. We all shared plates..salad, charcuterie board...soo feckin delicious..hoo... escargot..mm mussels in wine sauce if someone had tried to remove plate too soon they would have lost a limb...haha. The whole meal and experience was wonderful. Highly recommend a visit.
Darren Smith
A cool little German restaurant with a laid back atmosphere and efficient customer service and, oh by the way, has amazing German food and beers on tap! We have been here a few times and spent a lot of money trying as much as we can because it is all spectacular! Wir lieben Stammtisch!
Melissa Kate
Just fabulous! The food was beyond belief. I'm still thinking about the potato cakes with applesauce. The servers were super friendly and helpful—I asked for recommendations on a beer with a low abv and I was delighted with his pick. The AC was great and the sound system was really nice—there was a soul mix playing, with Marvin Gaye, Janet Jackson, and Prince. I hope to return soon.
Jennifer Christensen
Amazing food and beers! Get the meatballs or sausage for entree. Fries and pretzel were great for sharing as an appetizer. Service is excellent, very friendly and fast despite it being so popular on the night I went. Seating area outside is very warm with the heaters.
Peter McLean
Details henceforth about ye old burger and fries. A high quality local sourced meat from somewhere high in the Alps is being ground daily and prepared unconventionally purely on a burner gas grill. This unconventional method causes a mild reaction, which is a chemical reaction between the proteins and the reducing sugars that gives brown food. It's distinctive flavor. And the burger was really good too. It has some spicy sauce on it. A horse radish one might say.
Brent Husband
Great place to get good German food. Great selection of German beer as well. I like the atmosphere as well. Had to pick my wife at the airport so we went there Monday. We were able to walk in and shut right away. Service was great and friendly.
Mason Branstetter
We love Stammtisch. Great German food and always great beer options. Feels like a little German Gasthaus!!
Brandon Vrosh
Excellent, authentic German pub food and great beer. Atmosphere is cozy / friendly. Waitstaff is courteous and attentive. Unfortunately, the bar staff wasn't pleasant or professional. Might have been an off night.
Benjamin Krueger
The staff is 10 stars all the way. Super friendly and attentive, some of the best service I've received in a very long time. Where they miss the mark is food. While good it wasn't great and IMO needs a little more attention. For example the schnitzel used for schnitzel sandwich is great for schnitzel plate served traditionally or for a Jager schnitzel but for the sandwich it should be thinner and crispier. The sauerkraut is a little bland and tasteless. I would definitely go again but coming from a German family I'm a little more picky then most.
Amanda Martin-Tully
Have you ever wanted to sit alone, drinking a nice glass of wine and demolish a pretzel with multiple styles of mustard while avoiding eye contact with everyone? If the answer is no… Don’t both asking me on a second date and you’re not worthy of this place. The food is hands down delicious, the staff is amazing and the fact they have indoor and outdoor seating (with heaters) means this place is great for anyone wanting to maintain social distance or that just loves a winter chill in their bones. Seriously though… the pretzel. You’ll never be the same.
Spencer Purcell
Perhaps the best sauerbraten of my life. Beer selection was great too, pricey but not like break the bank. I mean for good hearty, German food it's a bit. I think beer and food my total was like 32 or something.
Stephen J. Allen
Absolutely killer meal. We had the bretzel to start with beer cheese soup, which was a great start. I had the Maultaschen, which had excellent, flavorful filling and a sharp, rich sauce. My partner had Geschmort Hasen, braised rabbit with pea puree and mushroom, which was so delicious, deep and flavorful. It was our first rabbit, and it was amazing. We also shared a side of spaetzle and finished with apple strudel, sweet and tart with a bit of burnished caramel finish. Absolutely excellent. Not a bad bite. The cocktails were also great.
Elizabeth Sizemore
Some good German beers here. Has more of a classic pub vibe. Service was standard but food was very underwhelming. The wurst were so dry and everything else was just kind bland, even dessert. It was quite disappointing considering the reviews.
Kerry Griffiths
Great service and delicious food. The restaurant is so beautiful.
Jay Sizemore
When it comes to German food in the Portland area, the Urban German Wursthaus is miles better.
Here, the saurkraut is practically devoid of flavor.
The beer cheese is lackluster.
The sausages were over done.
Even the ice cream and apple strudel for dessert seemed absent of any real zing. The ice cream tasted sugarless.
I don't think this place is authentic in its flavor profiles. It seems like a pretend German pub.
Evelyn Kidd
The dunklesweiss bier took me straight back to Germany. The schweinehaxen was incredible as well. They also have some of the best rot kohl and sauerkraut I’ve ever had. The jaegerschnitzel was a bit tough and bland, however. Friendly service and outdoor sidewalk seating. No high chairs.
Bethany Stroup
This is a wonderful place for dinner. There is incredible rabbit on the menu with a pumpkin puree, please dont miss it. Fabulous staff and really fast, efficient service. We will definitely be back.
Sarah P.
Absolutely spectacular food! Exactly what you want out of a great German restaurant! Excellent beer and excellent food! Got the Paulaner Oktoberfest and Jägerschnitzel, and couldn't be happier!
Maulsri Jha
Went here today for the first time, to attend the Oktoberfest celebrations. Truly the most authentic German restaurant I have seen outside of Germany. Great selection of beers, German food and amazing folks all around. Such a nice festive atmosphere. The food menu was limited though, as only the fest food menu was available because of the Oktoberfest celebrations. However, I would definitely return to try out the full menu. Prost!
Erik Arneson
Amazing German beer, amazing German food. This place has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. You will enjoy it.
Taylor Robins
We had the currywurst, beet salad and bretzel to start, wienerschnitzel and the stew for the main and finished with the apple strudel. Everything was absolutely delicious, including the available Ayinger beers on tap.
Camila Velez
I was craving some Schnitzel and I am so glad I found this place. It was really good, the beer is great and the service friendly. I'll come back
Malachi Hindle
It’s not easy to get beer garden vibes without a backyard, but they’re managing. In spite of Covid, tables separated by plexiglass in the space between sidewalk and street offer an oasis to relax and enjoy a wide range of German beers.
Evita Peran
I was looking for a true authentic Jağer schnitzel, sadly I didn't find it. Food was salty, carrot salad was old, not fresh.Pils was exceptional!
Jake Genck
By far the best German food in town. Service was a little slow on a busy Friday night but the food was well worth it. I will def stop in again!
Geoffrey Holtsclaw
Wow. It's not often you find a German restaurant that serves dishes other than schnitzel and wurst. This place goes above and beyond with Sauerbraten, Maultaschen, Schweinshaxen, and more! We ordered the first two with a Brezel and some beers. Although this place doesn't have board games or a Biergarten, we were overall very impressed! The Brezel is a little fluffier/breadier than traditional, but I have to give this place extra points for the authentic variety of dishes. And both that we had were delicious! Also a great selection of German beers that are all super tasty. The staff is very friendly and helpful in deciding what to get. Definitely a must-visit if you're in the Portland area looking for a great German meal.
Niko Makarov
What a fantastic place. Beer selection is brilliant especially if you’re averse to the blatant IPA trend. Food is well made Germanic style with quality ingredients. Constantly rotating taps with a few constants and interesting beers by the season straight from Germany. Great outdoor seating. Wish there was a larger screen/more screens to enjoy the match when it’s on.
Emily K Hollis
This food was amazing and the beer was the best I've ever had! The rabbit was perfection 😋 and this is my new favorite pretzel. The accompanying dips were unique and delicious. …
Susan Ternyey
Dec 2020 ordered take-out due to COVID restrictions, took it home and it was delicious. You can tell they make their own pretzels because they are not "cookie cutter" shaped. I had rubesalat (beet salad), bretzel (Bavarian pretzel w/dipping sauces: mustard, butter, cheezy), apple strudel, Bavarian Creme, Jagerschnitzel w/spaetzel & mushroom gravy and pickled red cabbage, warm potato salad. I added grape juice. Made more than one meal. Inspired to find a German restaurant by "crisp apple strudel . . . schnitzel with noodles" from the Sound of Music and thinking about Christmas traditions brought to America by German Immigrants.
Jonathan Hoehn
Germans have some stuff figured out - in spite of our boneheadedness. Like cold weather food and drink, good things with potato and fermentation, and rigid systems of control. Balance Germans - you could learn a thing or two from your next door neighbors.
Matt Wright
My wife loved the beet salad. I had the schnitzel sandwich, which was spectacular. The kraut and mustard are perfect compliments to the thinly pounded schnitzel. We were both drinking the kolsch on draught which were served in proper kolsch glasses. Great outdoor seating in the sun on a quiet road. Looking forward to our next visit. Great service rounded out a really nice sunny Sunday lunch.
Colin Fahey
Stammtisch is THE place to go for authentic German cuisine and brews! The food is absolutely fantastic and pairs wonderfully with their varied selection of beers. The atmosphere is also very in keeping with German restaurants and bars. Best place to go for such things without an 18 hour flight!
Juice Box
Great drinks, food, and environment. Staff is nice and helpful. Great place to go out with friends
Laura Parker
Extensive beer list and tasty food. The Jaegerscnitzel was delicious for a good winter-y comfort dish.
Hillary Larsen
Pub atmosphere with German food you won't find at the chain spots. Fully German beer (bier) list and cocktail menu, sharable small and medium plates, and of course the typical big plate staples like jagerschnitzel and German sausages. They now have covered, heated outdoor seating as well as their traditional bar top and indoor tables. Highly recommend for a small group or a date night.
Paula Catmull
Absolutely delicious Sauerbraten! Varied menu made it easy for our dinner group to make their selections. We ate outside under a heater at our request.
Daniel Myers
We really enjoyed the rabbit. The patio seating was limited but really lovely. The fact that the Timbers won just made it better!
Nicole Stanford
I wish I could rate this higher than 5 stars! AMAZING! Seriously, this is some of the best German food I have had in Portland - maybe even my life! The spaztle was perfect and the breztel to start is a must. I would return for the Bier and food alone but the real reason I'll be back is the wonderful service. Our server was knowledgeable and gave excellent recommendations. It was truly a wonderful experience. I can't wait to come back!
Brett Gottfried
Excellent food and atmosphere. A lot of the food was very similar to traditional German food, especially the sauerkraut. Very delicious sausages, definitely try the currywurst, classic!
Willis Overton
Delicious German food. One of my go to spots, should be for any Portlander. Same owner as Prost but with a better food menu and a more chill atmosphere.
Jason Barney
Tasty German food with a twist of the Portlandia snoot and self-importance. Our purple-haired waitress was all about that. If you can stomach that, then the food just might be worth it!
Emily Ling
Awesome selection and really cool decor. Great experience for Maifest. They even decorated the phone pole like a „Maibaum“ earlier in the day! Pretzel was good, schnitzel was perfect. Maiwein, delicious!
Vladimir K
Beers are the best! Too bad they don't have testers that many pubs have, when you can test different beers.
Service can be a little friendlier, but can be I'm too spoiled after Canadian service. 😁
Schnitzel is very salty, but maybe that how it's supposed to be (not an expert in German cuisine).
Matthew Bjorke
Never have had a bad experience, great food, beers, cocktails. Fun place to watch soccer or football.
James Kim
Great food at reasonable prices. Right place for a simple German cuisine. Visited during off peak hours, but seems like a fun place to be during busy hours and festivals
Mel Rocky
Very cozy restaurant/bar . I loved the front door. It’s classic! Staff were friendly and professional. We went on bust saturday night, got seated very shortly. Beer is awesome. Don’ mt forget to pair it with pretzel
Jerry Michalski
Usually food is either plentiful or really good. It's rare that large portions taste great, but in this case the Wienerschnitzel was astonishing.
Kyle Hughes
This place was dope, the bartender was very knowledgeable about German beers and let me throw the caps from the Jaeger meister things into the big stein behind the bar (wasn't Jaeger, but was similar). The currywurst was very good.
Darlis Nordhagen
Sat at the benches and tables outdoors, waitress came by quickly and was very personable. We don't know German food or beers well, so she patiently answered our questions and offered advice. Loved our meals and the unique beers. Inside looked cozy; we'll try that next time.
Yam Mesicka
Great German pub. Lots of Alcohol options and tasty food. The prices are fair, the place is well decorated and the service is great.
Leslie Alfred Sanya
The staff were friendly, while the Hacker-pschorr Weiße beer was delicious and the meal (The Maultaschen) tasted fresh I wanted more. Definitely coming back for the burger.
Eddie Eiland
I would have taken a picture of the bratwurst but we ate it too fast. Great execution in German cuisine and a fantastic beer selection to boot
Michael Cowan
Great selection of beer, great vibe.I did not have anything to eat but made some friends and they said the food was very good.
Candice Walker
Stumbled upon this place and couldn't be happier that we did! Great cocktails, great beer, great service, great atmosphere, great outdoor benches, and the pretzel we ordered was fantastic.
C B
Amazing food and amazing beer. The pork shoulder is amazing but just be aware it’s pork and has lots of fat.
Kovia Phan
Great service, delicious import beers, friendly locals eager to socialize, and awesome/authentic food. What more can u ask from a Beer Haus? Hidden gem tucked away off the main road in a nice neighborhood.
Damen Kuhlman
Food was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is very quiet and intimate, the staff is quick and efficient. The price was reasonable and we will definitely be returning.
Nikki Lingenfelter
They have a great selection of German beer. The Jager schnitzel and spätzle was delicious.
Caleb Watt
Great food, as close to authentic German food as I've found in the states.
The pork was tender with a super crunchy, crackly skin. Just like Frankfurt. Spätzle had a perfect bite. Cabbage was hugely flavorful.
Scott McLaughlin
This place is f’ing fantastic. Great atmosphere. amazing tasty german food plates and excellent beers and drinks
The staff here is awesome. So friendly every time from the hostess to the servers to the bartenders
Prices are super reasonable as well so you need to check it out
M. H.
Food was great and the price was surprisingly affordable, esp if you order the beer.
Tried their soft pretzel, was so good that we ordered a second one. Tried their 3 sausage platter, the German pasta dish and their apple strudel. Everything was good, except apple strudel was a bit too crispy and had way too much walnuts. If you like walnuts, I guess the strudel will be good for you!
Kerry Davies
By far the best German pub in town. It's a little bit on the smaller side but has a lot of room at the bar and never feels super crowded. They even have some really nice outside seating. Beers on tap are classics you can't do with out. The food is some of the best in the city and at a price that doesn't make your worried to try new things!
paul dowty
Excellent food great service wait staff should learn a little about German bier . Overall great experience!
Donquel Lawton
Oh my goodness the rabbit 🥰🥰 it's definitely worth the price. Its less than 30 dollars and you get a decent sized portion 🤤🤤 so good. Alcoholic drinks were very well mixed and the bar tender and waiter were very accommodating 😁
Ken Easton
Good food, good taps and good service. The menu seemed limited. The last time I was there was prepandemic, and I remember more choices.
Sara Gleasman
Delicious food !
A great selection of beer.
Amazing service too! Thank you!
William McKenzie III
So great. So, so great. Confident and casual service, excellent food. Place is loud though. But the service and the food..
Grim Leber
Always great food! The restaurant can be a bit loud- which can be easily escaped with take out or eating at their outdoor tables.
William Hull
This place is awesome definitely going back, a great place for German food Portland needs more places to eat German food!
Andy Prata
Love love love it!!! Best food and beer!! And best service!! Das is gut!!
Heather
Long time visitor, first time reviewer.
Love, love, love this place! The service was excellent. The food was delicious. Beer was cold and refreshing!
Mary Senatori
Great food. Vast beer and drink selection. Cozy atmosphere.
Trina Shama
Food was good service was really good, very timely and attentive. We had the rabbit and the past that was gilled with leek and fondue as well as the potato cakes. Everything came out really fast, I was quite surprised! The pasta was to die for...need the recipie on that one, it was amazing! The rabbit was probably the best rabbit I have ever had as far as tenderness went, kind of like eating dark meat on a turkey. The bacon and potatoes on that were fantastic, the peas needed something, I mean yeah, it tasted like peas, could use a kick in flavor is all. The only reason they arent getting a 5 star on here is because they didnt offer tastes of the beer before ordering one. My beer was just so-so, might have preferred a cocktail over the beer had I gotten to taste it first, plus I would have ordered a short rather than a full sized, I couldnt finish it. Anyway we will definitely be back and I highly recommend. Really wish owners would consider doing beer taster trays😜
Dustin Juhring
Best German food and beer around, possibly in the state. Large taplist that is all German imports and constantly changing, but also a full service bar.
You would never guess the level of quality coming out of this casual seeming place. It is a small menu but excellent. I recommend the rabbit, "Geshmort Hasen", and the pork shoulder "Schweinhaxen". They update parts of dishes with seasonal elements to keep things fresh, and many things are local or wild foraged. Cannot recommend enough.
hjalmar fossi
Hit or miss kinda. They dont allow you to sample a beer before you buy...wierd. had a really bad experience last time we went, but this time was fine. Staff seemed nice.
I've been back several times now, service and food have been excellent.
Skylar Coelho
Great restaurant, thoroughly enjoyed the food and drink. Would come again!
Kaitlyn Corry
Nice little spot. Went here for the beer but also got the bratwurst sandwich lunch plate and it was really good! Pictured is a Berliner weisse with woodruff syrup -- thoughtfully given to you on the side.
Eevee DeLioncourt
So delicious! Ordered the bretzel & Kartoffelpuffer potato cakes as appetizers, Venusmuscheln manila clams, and the Maultaschen veggie stuffed pasta. Everything was very good although the pasta dish was not too vibrant in flavor. I will certainly come back.
Taylor Kleinfeldt
I forgot how good the food was at this place since it is a bit out of the way and it has been a few years. Amazing food, great beer, fun environment. I will make it a habit to visit more often. Feel free to open a location in hillsboro. =)
lauren linagen
The pretzel and beer cheese soup was amazing! We would've ordered more except it took 15 minutes to see our server each time. Didn't ask us if we wanted food and left us sitting with empty glasses for a good 10 min. Pretty slow service. Even when we asked for our check it took forever. Would be willing to try it again on a different day.
Edit: went again on Dec 31st and had a much better experience while sitting inside. Great food. Upped my star rating from 2-4 stars.
Shack Burns
Great selection of German beer on tap. The food was fantastic.
Paul Faber
Good German beer selection German was reliably good not overwhelming nice scene.
Bryan Smith
Great German beer, friendly staff, delicious food. You need to eat/drink here, it is awesome.
Ken D
One of the best German restaurants I have ever been to in the States. Legitimate German comfort food- the Kartoffelpuffer was excellent and the Schweinshaxe was perfect. The beer selection was great. Legit german food.
Nathaniel Smith
So good, one of the best restaurants in town.
Andrew Gramlich
I may not be a cheese fan, but I felt lost in the sauce. Beer cheese, put that on your schnitzel and eat it
Pia Selke
I am from Germany and my boyfriend is from the US.
Food
My boyfriend ordered Currywurst and Maultaschen. The Currywurst was really good. The sauce was perfect. The sausage was more "Weisswurst" than the usually used sausage, but I really enjoyed that surprisingly. He almost ordered a second portion and only let me try a small piece. The Maultaschen were really great, but only if you actually like lemon - a lot lemon!
My Wienerschnitzel was on point in taste and excellent tender.
I had Radler (beer and lemon) and it was great.
Staff
The waiters were really nice. We didn't had a reservation because it was a spontaneous thing. So, every table was full and we had to wait half an hour, but they offered us to wait outside under the tent (outside because of Covid). We were able to get the heater turned on and they asked us if we would like a beer or another drink while waiting. They really tried their best.
It was all very fast and delicious and had a good food-to-price ratio.
Definitely worth a try!
Amit Desai
Great selection of German beers and the bartender was very friendly. Spent a few hours just enjoying the place. Curry brat went well with the beers.
William Watts
This is an authentic German bar with good food and decent service. I loved their Bratwurst and Knackwurst. Service was a little slow but that is to be expected as the restaurant was comfortably full.
Amanda Clemmons
Excellent atmosphere and friendly staff. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a delicious glass of dry riesling as well as the kartoffelpuffer and a weisswurst. It was truly some of the best German food I've had that wasn't made by my Omi :) Vielen Dank für das leckere Essen!
Sheila Blay Baraga
Such good outdoor service. And even with an unruly street person going crazy at them, these guys really kept their cool. Food was awesome!
Katie Bider
Amazing service!!! We checked this place out on a whim and so glad we did. Great beer selection and our food was so delicious. Definitely going back.
Dorian Shaner
Absolutely Wonderful Food! A great selection of German beers on tap, and imported bottles.
Robson Pontin
The schnitzel and the pork knuckle at this place are awesome!
Good place for a couple of drinks and also dinner.
Bill Burns
Some of the best German food anywhere. Great schnitzel and a variety of good beer. Friendly staff, prompt and efficient. Highly recommend.
steezy nmn
As a German , I'm not impressed.
Overall not bad but too much to criticize.
Called ahead and checked how busy they are and was told it wasn't bad so i didn't make a reservation given it was only a party of 2. Arrived and was told 30 minute wait , came back and was told another 15 , came back and hostess didn't recognize me and almost told me another 30 minutes. The glasses the waters came in were dirty and tiny. Solid beer selection. Good looking menu but I wasn't feeling too risky so i thought I'm playing it safe and ordered the Jägerschnitzel , this turned out to be the first time ever i had a schnitzel that wasn't breaded. The Spätzle were crispy almost like fries , decent sauerkraut and red cabbage but the Weisswurst was more like a maple syrup sausage , another miss.
JD Deming
Great traditional German beer list and excellent food. Staff was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
Ryan Andrews
Had a couple traditional German beers, the Dunkel was especially good!
Nicolas Clages
Stammtisch is an incredibly authentic German eating experience. The beer is excellent and the location gives it a vibe that reminds me of my years living In Germanys downtowns. Food is very good, taste is very good and authentic. Highlight recommend this place to anyone who simply wants to stop by for a Beer or even have w Apfelstrudel for desser.
5/5 for sure

Fantastic beer! Perhaps the best spot for delicious beer in Portland. In Stammtisch, you will not find any of the skunky NW overly hopped amateurish ale and beer that is all too common. We are talking beer that has been brewed in the time worn German way, that provides the most delightful buzz possible. The food has gone downhill, but considering these hard times it's still better than most pubs in town.
Noah Hesse
The staff was beyond amazing! That Charcutie cutie had me on cloud nine paired with an amazing German beer!
Chase Parkison
The food was very good. A bit pricey, but this place is high quality and clean. Worth a try for a date night or small party.
Gena Polikan
Very fresh beer. Many varieties of European taste! Very bad pseudo-German food! Cabbage is not naturally leavened. It is artificially soaked in vinegar. The pork is cooked separately from the cabbage. The rabbit also has no real taste. Everything is covered with spices and sugar. Only mushrooms are delicious. Beef cheeks took too long to cook and crawl in your mouth. ... The wine in which they stew is very sharp and unpleasant. The overall taste and texture are disgusting. Some of the sausages are delicious. Delicious cold vegetable soup. The bread pretzel is good, but a lot of salt. All meat has no taste. Very cheap supplier. Bad farm, bad feed. A real German will burn with shame!
Lucas Hill
I love German beer so this place is an automatic win for me. The food however is what really gets you back. Rich and fufilling.
Tina Simmons
Great beer selection and delicious German food
Drew Badger
Great drinks great food and great staff.
The potato pancakes and pretzel were great as appetizers although I wish they would serve the potato pancakes as an entree. The applesauce was delicious that was served with them.
Drinks were well made🥳
Maultaschen was ordered as an entree. Absolutely delicious 😋
Elaine Sanders
We initially had a long wait for service, and ended up waving someone over. She apologized for the wait, saying she had just started her shift.
The beer was excellent, served at the right temperature, and with a nice head. Each beer was served in it's own branded glass.
We also had a Bavarian pretzel. It was warm and well salted. It came with three dipping sauces; dijon mustard, chicken fat, and a paprika sauce. We didn't care much for these, but we did order a beer cheese soup that we used as a dip. It was quite good, if a bit runny.
The service turned out to be excellent after our rather dubious start. The server even comped one beer for our wait. Overall, it was a very nice experience.
Chris Caron
Good food and great German beers at an authentic German stammtisch (regulars table in German). In non-Covid times you might share tables with strangers, just like in Germany but now that is very limited. The food was traditional German. The schnitzels tend to be dry so getting the Jager schnitzel is a good option with the mushroom sauce. The 3 sausage platter with 3 different sausages was a great deal and very tasty.
SENTINEL
Always great food and atmosphere
Candyce Ford
Delicious authentic feeling German food. The beer is great and the German family style seating! Good experience.
Jenn
Great staff.. never thought to see fancy plating of Bavarian style cuisine but it certainly appeased my homesickness.
Troy Bauman
My wife and I come here all the time. This had by far the best German Beer outside of Germany. The food is excellent and everyone here is always nice. The only downside (and reason it's not 5 stars) is that it takes far too long to get a beer after ordering. When there aren't that many people waiting, and it still takes over 10 minutes to get a single beer, that's ridiculous.
Emma Burns
I lived in Germany for over 10 years and the food is 11/10 for me every time. Waitress was fantastic and had to put up with some BS from another customer. She handled it like a champ. Easily my favorite place to eat in Portland. Highly recommend.
Shaun Feiler
What a fantastic group of people working here. The food was pretty authentic. Some great flavors but a couple of disappointments buy overall really good food and a great price. Our servers name was Gabe or Jared or Donald regardless we think he was just amazing!
4.5 stars for sure!
PDX Me
Great food! Great beer! Great service! Their outdoor seating is really nice and well spaced and they're following all local and state guidelines well. I felt very comfortable dining here during the current situation we've found ourselves in during this pandemic.
Trevor Prosser
Great place for a wide variety of German beers and foods! Comfortable, clean, dark but friendly, this is one of those places where the hours melt away
Keith Piersol
Excellent food and great atmosphere. The staff was attentive and prompt. I ordered the beer braised rabbit, it was a well designed dish and was a joy to eat. All the beer on draft is imported German beer and goes great with the theme and the food. A wonderful experience, I'll definitely come back!
Joe Jackson
Truly delicious and a wonderful bier selection. Highly recommend.
Master Dingo
Fabulous beer list, full cocktail bar, but OMFG the food. So good, I almost forgot to mention the amazing staff who are there when you want them and everywhere else once you're set up! But again, the fooooooood...
Wilbur Catburn
Very friendly staff, who seem to be doing well. Our food was good. The beer was amazing. Definitely stop by if you haven't yet. You won't be disappointed.
Sambolini 1701
The food, beer, and cocktails are amazing. Great schnitzel and sauerbraten. Get the apple strudel and chocolate tort. I come from out of town just to eat here.
Greg Cowan
Been to Stammtisch more than a few times - every time I have a hankering for German food. We've taken some euro guests there as well and the beer always brings a smile. It's nicely authentic and tasty. Beers choices are excellent and the mixed drinks are also good. Prices are reasonable. Service is friendly and familiar but not overbearing. It's a restaurant/pub. Nice, low-key. Occasionally busy and smallish staff can get overwhelmed a bit, but understandably. Outside seating in the sunny parts of the year is also a pleasure as are the open windows to the outside. Overall, solid choice for a fun, easy, tasty dinner or just some great brews after a day at the office.
Jason Russell (JayRuss)
This place is is super good. The beer list is impeccable and food is expertly prepared. The menu is around 15-20 per person and drinks range between 8-15. The staff is accommodating and always serves to please. The parking is a bit hard during the evening hours. The ambiance is more of a pub. They have booths and hightop tables. The potatoes pancakes are awesome. Also, try the schnitzel and pretzel hamburger!
Julia Babcock
Love the authentic German atmosphere. Great beer and cocktail menu that is seasonal and always something new to try.
tvogus v
Great service, and for the first time eating authentic German food, great experience and great food. I totally recommend to anyone.
John Cox
Excellent service, food and atmosphere!! I ordered this App and the chicken dinner which is soooooo worth the wait!! Will definitely be visiting this place next time I'm in town!
Daniel Mead
It's so good. Real Deutsch beer on tap and food that compares to some of the best food in Deutschland.
Arthur Hirschfeld
Wundebar! Excellent selection of German beers on tap. Had the Schitzel sandwich for lunch alongside fries and delicious curry ketchup. Will have to come back for dinner to try their Sauerbraten.
Chris S
Last time we came here we were blown away. Incredible service. Incredie food. This time, sub par service and the food was just ok. Maybe eventually owners of restauraunts will decide to be actually involved and take note how an employee can make or break an experience.
Mary Klein
Good German food and beer. Fun October fest
michael chiu
Nice crispy pork skin and tender inside. Not only the meet, even cabbage and other dressing are really authentic. Not too salty not sour, nearly perfect balance.
Travis Williams
Best real German food always fresh and a lot of imported beer also
Thomas Kay
Very authentic Bavarian cuisine. Really excellent food.
It is interesting that in one of America's Premier Brewing cities this restaurant offers only German beer. That being said, they have a wide and veried assortment of around 25 excellent German beers.
sabrina boothe
Absolutely love this place, great service and the food is over the top.
Icebrg313
Pretty good German food and good looking staff!
Travis Poe
Yum yum. Great food great service....good beer selection.
Kent Prochazka
So after an evening of partying...we were hungry and Stammtisch was close so off we went. A brisk winter walk and we arrived to cozy warm bar with good music. Food...ironically we all ordered the same thing. Schnitzel sandwich with sauerkraut and fries. Amazingly good. Crispy and pounded super thin on a great pretzel roll. Good German/Austrian beer selection. Super helpful staff that kept the Oktoberfest beer coming. Will be back to try some of the other dishes including the seafood.
belden same
Bartender was up front about last call, got us seated and served promptly and kindly. They're always lovely here, and I've never gotten a bad drink.
Emily
Such an awesome gastronomic experience! We had a truly German time and enjoyed the authentic German beer, incredibly delicious food, and super cool decor! I had the rabbit with Brussels sprouts, bacon, and squash, and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. A must try!
ChrisNZ
Solid range of German beers. Classic wooden interior. Note that the food is expensive though.
Keira Lynch
I've been here twice and each time has been amazing. The wait staff are super knowledgeable and personable. Excellent beer selection, many whiskey options, food itself is great. They have a punchcard reward system for their beer (my friend hopes to get his name on a stein). My only complaint might be that it's a little pricey, but it's also a little on the classy side, so it's not unreasonable. If you're looking for an awesome German pub for beer or food this is the place to check out.
Dee Stenz
Expensive and tastier than I assumed it would be...
J K
Food was really expensive compared to other restaurants in the area, but the schnitzel tasted authentic. Just like the ones I had in Austria and Germany. The strawberry chocolate dessert was very bad, and definitely not worth the price.
Tim Stallbörger
As a german visiting Portland I can certainly say this was an amazing evening. The food was perfect and the beers on tap felt just like home. Would absolutely come by again if I’m in the area.
Chris Schultz
Love the beer selection. Tons of German deliciousness in tap and they are one of the few places in Portland that serves a full liter of beer if you like. The rabbit was some of the best I've had in a long time. The Jagershnitzel was the only disappointment. Thin and the mushroom gravy couldn't carry it. Good service and will be back for sure.
Jean-Luc Aguirre
One of my favorite German pubs is n Portland. Love the staff, friends with them. Very lovely crew of staff, amazing food, best beers and always a familiar face there. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for more than a drink at a "bar"
Stephanie Elizabeth
Yum, yum yuuuuuum!!! Shared potato cakes and wienerschnitzel but I would love to come back and explore both the food and beer menu further!
berta ferguson
The pretzels were soo good!! I really just want to keep eating them! I had the rabbit, I never had before and want not disappointed. Very moist good flavor. I cant remember what my husband had but that was amazing too! Way bigging than what we both thought he was going to get 😆. …
Erick Nagy
Great variety of beer options. Amazing menu with deserts.
Klara Koerner
As a true born and raised Bavarian this place never disappoints. Best celection of german beer, many on draft. Rare find is the Weltenburg dunkel beer. Amazing cocktails. There is not one item on the food menue that is not authentic and absolutely delicious. Great service and atmosphere. You can go for lunch and stay through dinner. A all-time favorite place.
Ingrid Arnason
Stammtisch is cool! Well made German food, lots of choice if you like German beer. The wine list is not extensive but you can find what goes with the food. Community vibe ambience. There is surprisingly comfortable sidewalk seating. A banner above the bar lists Germany's world cup wins. I definitely want to go again.
Oliver Badeau
I got the reuben, and it was fantastic. The prices were good, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was very light, pleasant and casual. I will definitely return in the future :)
kregor
What an awesome place for German food, drinks and atmosphere of Germany 🇩🇪. Staff is great. Great place for all. …
Brendan Brown
As much as I love German food, I can't believe I've not found this place until now. Love the food, drink and overall atmosphere of the place.
Dan D
Sat outside in small booths. The goulash was more like the Hungarian version I ate as a kid. And the last was great! Not good or okay, it was great! Clearly homemade. The same goes for the apple strudel served with real whipped cream. The beer was also very good. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who like German food.
Max Smiley
Awesome. Get the weinerschnitzel. Or the jagerschnitzel. Or the sauerbraten. Or the lachs.
Oh and the brotzeit teller (apparently charcuterie) was my favorite dish. But literally noting was bad, EVERYTHING was good, AND our servers were very taxed (I assume someone called out).
So even with less-available service, the food was incredible. The servers were knowledgeable and efficient. The ambiance was perfect.
Eat here.
Kay McCreedy
Neat, unique restaurant in central east Portland that serves as a very different option from most of the Burnside/Sandy fare—where else can you find German traditional around here at this quality? Service was awesome, prompt, and well-informed; food and drink selection was a case of almost too many good options to choose! Highly recommended.
Robert Reid
I live a block away. I call it Sandwich because I can't remember the name. It's nice looking. The food is excellent. Beef cheek is my favorite. But much of the staff consistently seem distant to me, a bit cool -- particularly if you sit at the bar. Maybe it's an authentic German thing. Because it's not a Portland thing. The biggest problem for me is the beer. People seem to love it. I just can't find one I like better than the best of Oregon beer. I just think Oregon has the best beer in the world. I'd go more often if I liked the beer better.
Yvonne G
Meat in House goulash was not as lean as I like. But it was tender. Broth was tasty. Too few potatoes. Love beer selection. Yummy in German!!! I know for a fact that other meals are very good for those of us who have had REAL German cuisine. Come and enjoy.
Mr. Awesome
I had a fantastic time having dinner with a buddy. The food was excellent and so was the service. If you like a place with a bit of German flair I highly suggest this place. It was my second time to go and I will be going again. We sat outside due to covid and limited seating inside. It was nice.
Johanus Flores
Amazing German food.
I have been to Germany myself and had authentic German food, and to my knowledge, this food is very authentic, along with their beers.
Great food, great service, and best of all, extremely amazing food.
Overall a great place to go with friends or family and be able to enjoy your time together.
Great portions for the amount being paid.
Totally worth it and recommend it.
Kayla McLain
Took my dad here for dinner. He had lived in Germany for years as a child, so we were curious to see how the food compared. Stammtisch has a delicious menu and everything we tried was so tasty! Also, we sat at the bar and the bartender working at the time was super helpful when we asked for advice on what to order. All in all it was a great experience!
Robert Berg
I love this place! Really good German food and an excellent beer selection, all at an affordable price. The acoustics suck, and thus it's very loud when full, and hard to have a conversation with your guests. The outdoor seating is awesome in nice weather, and also quieter.
Kara Harbour
One of our favorite new restaurants in town! Excellent, very well made food! The potato cakes are amazing and the strudel is fantastic. The staff are always friendly and the beer selection is great!
Russell Speight
Great place. Nice Germanic beer selection (as long as you're not a beer pedant). Food is excellent - the pork shoulder nearly ended my life, in a good way. You can seat a larger group if you can nab one of the 2-3 bench tables, but might be dicey depending on time-of-day.
Lance Lash
The wiesswurst was excellent, the bratwurst was good but not nearly as good as many others I've had. The pretzel was excellent and they have a great selection of German beers.
Travis Sauer
It's a very solid Oktoberfest destination. They have a good selection of German beer on tap, and a fair offering of German cuisine, however having lived in Germany, it may not satisfy someone looking for the real deal. Overall I recommend it as an intro to German culture and cuisine, but for the discerning customer it may disappoint.
Samantha Odegard
The salmon soup was the only disappointing dish I've had here but otherwise a good time.. good food and great service. The salmon dish was just watery broth, veggies, and the salmon was kind of mushy but an overall flavor less dish. That's my only hang up about the place.
Tami Stover
Their only vegetarian main dish is so good that I don't care that it's the only one. Good salads and pretzel. Meat eaters delight in the many choices and beer to pair with. Each beer comes in it's own type of glass. I like the vibe. Service was a bit slow at the bar. Food on Mon Tues when the chef is off seems hit or miss. (I've been here a lot and keeps coming back.)
Alissa Sauer
This is one of my favorite bars in the area! I don’t even especially like German food, but theirs is excellent. Get the pretzel (bretzel) for sure! Beer isn’t cheap here, but I still feel like I’m getting great value since it’s one of the only places I know of where I can get these types of German beers. Their rewards card program is super fun too.
Carla McHattie
Flavorful German beers served in their specific glassware! I love that!! The pretzel is bomb for a beer snack. And the pork shoulder shank is the best thing on the menu. Share it or embrace the meat hangover. I love the Dunkels and Wheat beers and the spot-on descriptions help you confidently try new things feeling informed. The staff is always personable and things are clean. Good place to bring friends or to just swing by for a beer and a game on the TV.
Update: They are open now for outdoor dining that feels safe, clean, and spacious. I also think their fries are the best in the neighborhood.
rod mason
Great selection of fine German beers in a variety of sizes, nice German food, friendly and helpful servers. There was a real sense of German Gemütlichkeit. It's a warm spot on a rainy long fall evening in Portland. We'll go back. On the way out we stopped at Alma's for fine chocolate morsels.
james wright
Great food, and beer. Don't forget to go to Prost! Both can and do often get crowded. If I had one negative if you can call it that is too busy is sometimes not fun, but also a reflection on a great restaurant, and beer hall. Ive unfortunately never been to Germany, but I'm thinking this is as close to as authentic as it gets.
Dennis Titko
Great little German pub with REALLY good German snacks and food. The Schnitzel Sandwich was fantastic! The wurst is made in house and fantastic. The beer list is stellar especially if you have been to Germany.
Amy O'Brien
Truly excellent German food, with a lively atmosphere. I'd put it to the test and take my German friends there in a heartbeat!
Sam Tucker
You can find most major German beers here along with favorite southern German eats. Loved the options including 1 Liter mugs! The menu looked amazing but I was only able to try the beet salad which was great! Will definitely be returning with more friends.
Joaquin Diaz
Located in SE Portland. Plenty of street parking and a live area. The staff is friendly and on top of their game. Drinks were filled and food was delivered timely. The food is delicious, well flavored, cooked to proper temperature, and paired with delicious beer. A great place to visit and enjoy the environment.
John Deodato
Great selection of German beers on tap, for when you want a break from local micro-brews and try some authentic old school brews. Food is also classic German fair, very well prepared. Service is also first-class.
Tiffany McAbee
This place has incredible food. Before arriving I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but now I find myself still thinking about the delicious Wienerschnitzel I had at dinner 5 hours ago. We also had a roasted chicken dish that did not fail to impress; the meat practically fell off of the bone!
We will definitely be back to enjoy this restaurant's food again. Great wait staff too! My only complaint was parking being street parking, but we were able to make it work.
Mo Jo
Nice atmosphere and cozy setting. Wait staff were upbeat and attentive without being intrusive. Really enjoyed the selection of beer choices and the meals were prepared well, served in a timely manner and, quite satisfying.
rickie vidito
Very busy but great service and a nice atmosphere
Mike Blair
Cool spot, had the stuffed pasta and the potato cakes. Potato cakes were good, not great, but the overall atmosphere of the bar and the really excellent stuffed pasta dish really made me enjoy my time here.
Jonathan Kuniholm
Pricey but awesome and authentic German comfort food... and beer. The Schweinshaxen (crispy braised pork shoulder with red cabbage) is truly fantastic, and plenty for two with leftovers if you're willing to be all American and take it home with you.
Adrian Chu
The pork shoulder was alright, a little bit too salty. Sausages were average - not much different than those from the grocery store.
My favorite was the Maultaschen (a ravioli type dish).
Overall, a nice chill little pub/restaurant with a German vibe in NE Portland.
They also have a great selection of German beers.
Negar Heckscher
Love your drinks! Now if you would only consider adding Beyond burgers and sausages to your menu, it would be 5 stars! I know that is so un-german but it is so planet friendly. 😊 …
Peaty Malt
God I love this place! Always a blast and I always meet really cool people. The absolute best beer selection in Portland! I'll get a lot of flack for saying that, but it's true. German biers can't be beat! Just really authentic and so unique. It always seems like everybody is having such a good time there too.
Sherry Tate
Super place, excellent looking with great food and selection of beer. Love the breaded veal. Their sausages with the special sauerkraut is simply fantastic. One star off for the bar stools. Too hard!
Riley Waite
The drinks were strong and the food was 10 times better than expected, the food really was the star of the show. Unfortunately the waiter got our drink order wrong, other than that the place was great. Cool German aesthetic and friendly staff
Eric S Cooper
Outstanding food coupled with an atmosphere truly reminiscent of a German beer hall. I still cannot believe they serve Schweinshaxen--a rare dish outside Germany and expertly prepared by their team.
We were so, so pleased with every aspect of our visit.
Charlie Saginaw
Super excellent service and great variety of German beers. We had to leave early and they accommodated us without batting an eyelash. Way to go!
Mary Angaiak
Thank you Stammtisch for accommodating our large party and having a delicious assortment of food. It was amazing. Definitely worth the hour wait, even with young children. We ordered almost all of the small plates and some of the medium & large plates to share. Everyone was in a food coma til the morning! Fantastic!
Michael Edmondson
Pretty darn good German food and good beer selection. Def recommend. Their lunch menu was not as good as dinner. I like their dinner menu a lot. Their spetzle is good n buttery. Sausages were good too!
Paul Bluhm
If you want some authentic German beers paired with some authentic German food, this is your place. Fantastic schnitzel, love that you can get liters of beer here, and if you're lucky enough, try the beer cheese soup. Best I've tasted!
Bob Dietrich
Visited for the first time with my family. The food and service were great. A couple of us had the Schweinshaxen - a crispy skin surrounding buttery, tender meat, served with spätzle and red cabbage. Fantastic! And best of all, they had the best German beers on tap, making it hard to choose. We'll definitely return.
aalitros
Excellent food if you enjoy German fare. Wonderful beer. Little pricey.
Echo Alexzander
Great menu, good beer and food selections. Allowed us to customize our dinner selection to be the perfect mix of our favorites. The place can be busy, even after 8 pm so plan enough time for your visit.
Adam Hegewald
Had the Jaegerschnitzel at the bar. Tasty. Thin. Salty. Good thing I had a HUGE pint to cleanse my pallet. Bar staff were snarky and put out. Quick cooks...we barely waited 5 minutes for our dishes....waited twice that to get my first beer.
Matthew Banner
Are you an "IPA refugee"? I am. This bar is great. There are two or 3 German beers on the list I dont usually see elsewhere, and I wonder if they might bump a few of the more common imports off the list for something special and more elusive. Their food can be pricey, but I've had a few of their lower priced plates and the execution was great. Their menus are in need some updating, they're a little deceptive(offering Bavarian mustard & delivering dijon instead, for instance) but they're mostly insignificant discrepancies.
Jen McBride
We were seated immediately, had our drinks ordered and delivered right away, ordered our food and received it promptly with the entree split for me and my partner without even having to ask.
The food was amazing (I lived in Germany briefly so I was excited to try this place) and the service was so professional and quick. Our drinks were well crafted (I had a gorgeous cocktail with a woodruff infusion and strawberries.)
I already can’t wait to go back.
We had the currywurst with curry ketchup - makes you wonder why any other ketchup exists.
The pretzel because duh - it was served with schmaltz!
And beef cheeks with spaetzle and braised cabbage. This was so good, I wanted more while I was eating it.
Mike
The best German bar in Portland I have been to. Actually, the best German food I have eaten anywhere. The menu isn't fixed, but there is always spaetzle and sausage options that will have you coming back for more. The beer is all authentic German beer, served the way the manufacture intended, in the specific glass designed for the specific beer you order.
If you haven't been here yet, definitely go.
Carissa Nichols
Stammtisch is just what you would expect from a German American bar. I got a cider and it tasted more like vinegar. My friend grabbed a beer and it was delightful. The bartender was also kind and accommodating. I also enjoyed that they were showing amateur wrestling on tv that night. It's a pretty chill atmosphere and they stay open later than other bars.
Marc Popick
Nice selection of European bees. Good service too.
Eric M
Great german beer selection and delicious food. Expanded outdoor seating with distancing currently. It can get busy. I've never had a bad dish.
Matthew Baird
One of my favorite spots in town. A great selection of German beer and very underrated food makes this place a must visit and a welcome respite from its busier, more rowdy twin in Prost. Just be ready to share a table when it gets busy!
jackie funk
Yummy. Enjoyed the Linse Suppe, Lentil Stew. Nice selection of German beers. Really enjoyed. Space between guests and everyone wearing their masks except while at their table. Thank you.
Lauren Carani
Often busy and for good reason. The German beer selection and the unbelievable (and well-priced food) are worth the wait, if you run into one! Friendly staff, a couple good outdoor spots. I didn't find a changing table FYI!
Gavin Lees
Woah - you can keep your Xmas tree IPAs, this place has the best selection of traditional German beers! The food is really great, too. I had the rabbit and bacon, which was delicious - best German food I've had outside of Germany.
john galvin
Love this place and have been going for years. The food is delicious and the beer is always my favorite in the city. The only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is because it's packed a lot. Good for them, but not my thing. It's literally personal and not professional :-) go and enjoy. You owe it to yourself.
Tara Keenan
Tried the meat & cheese platter as well as the Bretzel. Everything was great, beers and food we're perfectly described, environment was friendly and warm. Kid friendly until 10 pm, great place to meet, chill and try new things! Had a small wait prior to getting our table; went at peak dinner time so we expected it.
Jay Lazzaro
A must visit restaurant in Portland. The food is amazing. The chef constantly comes up with new dishes that are wonderfully technical but they eat easy. Its not one good dish, but the string of great dishes over the years that really makes Stammtisch soecial. One of the few places to get rabbit in town.
Deb Perry
This place is awesome! Great service all around, every shift and I've been going 1-2 times a week for over a month now! The pretzel with schmaltz, beet salad and the rabbit are my go to menu items. Try the RABBIT!!!! It's amazing!
Lindsey Stu
Ok, here's the thing; the food at Stammtisch is amazing. The inside of the restaurant, when busy, is SO LOUD. If the weather is right, the key is to sit outside because there is lots of people watching, and you can hear the rest of your party. On a slow day, go in, sit out, whatever. I love the Spätzle. The pretzels are really good, and I'm told the beer is delicious. Give it a try; you won't be disappointed!
Zach Kucera
A fantastic German pub and restaurant. Plenty of beer, cider and spirit choices along with a comprehensive German menu featuring giant pretzels, Weinersnitchel, Sauerbraten, and many more delicious items. Service is excellent and friendly. Prices are moderate . All in all, an excellent restaurant featuring Deutschland cuisine.
Alex Johnson
I lived in Germany for a year and have been back multiple times since. This is by far the most authentic German place in existence, from the food to the amazing drink selection. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, they host great seasonal events from time to time, and their jägerschnitzel is to die for.
Jessica Valenzuela
Stammtisch wins our most visited restaurant this summer 2021! Perhaps our 5th time this summer (we have a month to go so we're likely going to be back a few more times. The past 4 summers we'd at least visit 2-3x. Ha! Each visit is simply a 10 -- we almost always order Schweinshaxen, the caramel apple pie and a side of ice cream with a selection of biers (of course!). On our most recent visit we also tried the Backhendl mit Bratkartoffel, Obatzda, Kartoffelpuffer and the Jägerschnitzel. EVERYTHING is super tasty, delicious and you know the ingredients are fresh and high-quality. I'm really looking forward to next weekend's October Fest! :-)
Bob Baker
Best sauerbraten we remember having outside of Germany! Ample portions. Responsive staff. Obviously a popular place with the locals. We advise getting there early and settle in for a delicious evening. We will be back the next time we are in Portland.
Lindsey
The food reminds me of my great grandma's german cooking. Absolutely amazing. I bow down to the chef. Got the beef cheeks with spetzle, and my spouse got the pretzel and meat platter. We never get dessert but the food was so good we had to get a strudel.
Thank you for restoring my faith in good food.
Austin Perron (Dreadwuggles)
Fantastic German food with some of the best service I've ever had. And all served with a wide selection of beers and wines. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.
Dave keckes-chartrey
It's German, so the beer is good and the food is reasonably authentic. That said, the wait staff is clearly overwhelmed, and the prices are pretty high per portion. The negatives outweigh the positives on this trip. We may try again sometime, but probably not in the near future.
Nicholas Dona
Large selection of German beers with authentic and delicious German food. Fun spot to sit outside as well. Highly recommend.
Atha Mansoory
Great beer. Food is always decent - sometimes excellent, and sometimes average.
Service can be hit or miss during the week but has always been spot on on weekends.
I guess consistency is the missing star here...
Joey Hinton
Fantastic place with crazy good German food.
Sarah Kirk
Absolutely delicious. Every dish has a lot of thought put into it. Cheese board has a lot of interesting and delicious options. All the German beer you could want. The rabbit is to die for. I will be telling everyone about the rabbit. Eat the rabbit.
Ryan Rittenhouse
Been looking for a place that even serves wienerschnitzel, and not only do they, but it is amazing. Almost exactly as good as what I had in Germany. They have a great looking menu and I plan on getting back as often as possible to try it all, though that will require passing on the wienerschnitzel... which may be hard to do.
Great German beer selection too. If you want a break from Northwest microbrews this is a perfect option. Have the classic Paulaners, but also more rare selections, even some sours (if that is your thing). Had the Grevensteiner too, which was one of the smoothest, delicious lagers I've ever had.
Great environment and staff.
Daley
Was in the neighborhood, stopped in on a whim. Great food, atmosphere, and friendly staff! Definitely recommend!
Michael Hirsch
The service was okay but I was disappointed that beer could not be tasted before being ordered. The food was clearly German but blander and less inspired than I have experienced in Germany. One of our party ordered a pretzel which was surprisingly small for the price charged. Overall, I do not expect to return.
t walla
Always a great selection of German beer. The German version of charcuterie was excellent. The food rarely disappoints
Jenna R.
My husband and I have been here multiple times now, and each time we've been met with only kindness and amazing service! Not only is the food beautiful, but so is the service here! Time and again we've been impressed!! Food, service, loyalty, everything keeps us coming back!
Eugene Dimarsky
Super tasty schnitzel sandwich. You should eat it.
The beer selection is impressive and the staff knows what's what and will gladly help you.
When next on the west closet I'll gladly return.

Been here on multiple occasions, always a great time with delicious food and beer.
We need to stimulate the local economy by patronizing the places that we want to succeed in the current climate.
Stammtisch makes this task easy, for me at least.
Jillybean
Amazing! Want real German sausage? Come here! Bratwurst and the hamburger are AMAZING! Approved by my German husband! Staff friendly, nice atmosphere, great food!
Isaiah Tibbs
This place is sublimely good. The pork with the spaetzle and cabbage is something dreams are made of. The crispy outside and succulent well seasoned pork coupled with the buttery spaetzle and sweet-sour cabbage is one of the most balanced plates of food I've had in PDX. The pretzel and potato cakes were delicious starchy starts and we also tried the meatballs, which were fantastic and succulent. Our server was also friendly and reliable, with no hipster snobbery whatsoever. She was helpful and truly lovely. The restaurant is a in a great building in a cool area so there is literally nothing to complain about. This is a well deserved 5 stars and I wish I could give them 6!
Greta Detrick
Great German food. Service was awesome. But the best thing about it was the music! They played Slayer & Black Sabbath and all kinds of cool music! You can't beat that!
Tyler R
Truly fantastic. The location is easy to get to. It's a good clean look. The food is absolutely amazing. Obviously a great selection of German beers. Cool staff
Jason
Best german food ever. The food was just as good as Germany itself and a ton of german beers on tap
Cody Jones
Authentic and delicious. Great staff and ambiance
The Swift Sloth
Traditional German style beers from traditional German breweries. I recall the food that I've tried here being excellent. The fried rabbit is the best in town. The pretzel with beer cheese is salty and delicious.
C Renifer
If you are in the mood for good food and delicious beer, this is it.
Melissa Haskins
We had a little nibble. My friend wanted me to try the egg noodles w/ mushroom gravy! Awesome comfort food! Servers were kind and attentive! Enjoyed experience very much!
Sean McCartney
Service happens when it can, especially if they're busy. This doesn't mean they're slow, beers and food come pretty quickly even if it takes a bit of time to give your order to the server.
Seating on the sidewalk patio is great in summer and perfect for dog owners!
Working towards a stein here. Keep your punch card and don't loose it.
May I suggest the bretzel and currywurst.
Paul Fischer
Excellent selection of authentic German beers. Likewise, the food selection is very representative and quite good. My only disappointment was the dessert, I advise going elsewhere for dessert (unless you're having beer for dessert).
Marcus Diaz
Probably the best German restaurant in America! I've worked at HB in Las Vegas and traveled to Germany for the Oktoberfest and this place reigns supreme! My statements don't qualify anything but I generally do seek out German places on the regular.
Peter Gates
Next best thing to Prost! for German beer and food.
Magen Gulliford
Wonderful casual German food. Perfect textures and flavors with timely service. Great beer selection.
We will definitely go here again.
Michael Long
One of my favorite spots in all of Portland!!!
Chad Chamberlain
A friend invited me here during an Oktoberfest block party last weekend. I'd never been here before, but I'm generally a fan of the neighborhood as there's plenty of great bars and food joints within a block or three walking distance.
I roll in with no idea what to expect since I didn't know it was an Oktoberfest thing that was happening. The bar is pretty good sized and seems to be L-shaped to go around the corner of the building, and there are multiple doors in and out so nice days can let some of the outside in. The crowd was louder than average but not deafening. They do have a full bar, but had run out of spiced rum when I ordered my standard drink. The server (btw this place has table service) was really knowledgable about their beer selection, which was really helpful since I'm terribly unknowledgable of beer (call me a bad Portlander, but I've probably lived here longer than you have). I ended up getting pilsner at the server's recommendation and it was the perfect choice for a semi-warm autumn evening.
What really stands out to me is that even though there was a block party going on, this place had table service and it was still speedy, nobody seemed exasperated or overworked - like they'd planned their staffing levels perfectly.
Will definitely visit again - I need to try the food!
Jeffrey Stump
My pasta dish was amazing! The drink menu is huge, and the servers were friendly. I would definitely come back.
VK
First time here today & I must say very friendly staff to begin it’s almost unreal, everyone is so nice , also expect a wait, but grab a drink while ur at it. food is very good & reasonably priced tho, hubby had the burger & I had duck. Overall such a sweet Ambience so it’s worth coming here even with a wait . They accommodate very well.
Anthony Messano
This place is great! Very tasty and pronounced beers. Food is tasty and fits the atmosphere. Seating can a be little rough based on party size, but worth the wait.
Keaghan Cronin
Its a warm, welcoming, neighborhood vibe. Dark and cozy at night making it a great place for intimate conversation. The food is amazing. Options for meat eaters and vegetarians. Very reminiscent of the amazing food we found in Germany.
Jaclyn Smith
Stammtisch is a German style pub with an extensive beer selection of German imports, and authentic German dishes. The prices aren't cheap, but it's worth every penny.
The food here is top-notch, my personal favorites being the Sauerbraten and Currywurst. The beer is equally spectacular, and the constant rotation guarantees something new everytime you visit.
Make sure to get here early as in the evening on the weekends, for despite the large amount of seating, the wait can be over an hour.
jacob crahan
After visiting once I'm determined to try every beer on the menu. In my experience you can't go wrong. The curry ketchup is also something I'll be trying to recreate at home. It does to ketchup what jelly did to the humble peanut butter sandwhich. You didn't know you wanted it, but now that you have it there's no going back.
Ben
If you're a fan of Prost on the north side, you'll like this place as they are sister restaurants.
Nice atmosphere on the block, and it's a pleasant experience if you go on a nice day and the windows are all opened.
The beer is what you'd expect from a German place, and the pretzel is just *ok* (I don't know why it's so hard to find a decent pretzel in this town)
chandy blair
We just had dinner here and I have to say it was amazing! Service is outstanding! The atmosphere and decor was exactly what we wanted looking for a great German restaurant/bar! We will be back next time we are in Portland!
Kesslan Hervey
Always love visiting Stammtich during Oktoberfest and will definitely be visiting more often! The staff is nice and the food and drinks have always been great!!
Jeffrey Brodzinski
This is a great place to grab a beer and make some friends. The table rules are traditional beerhall so if there are open seats, you will be meeting some new people. The good news?! You both like beer so toast to that! The German beer selection here is something...out of a German venue. Come here to fill up your Untappd beer passport or to attend their Oktoberfest or to just have an amazing Bratwurst and pretzel. I would also highly recommend starting the night with some cornbread pizza across the street at Dove Vivi then walk to Stammtisch to end the evening with tasty, cold, authentic lager.
Nicolaus Steiert
Amazing place! I've been to Germany a few times and this place is as authentic as it gets. Great food and awesome selection of beers. The staff is really nice.
Kamila Bennett
This place has a great selection of German biers in a spacious and laid-back bar. We got the curry wurst with fries to snack on with our bier, but they also have a full dinner menu to choose from.
John Acerbi
If you like German beers and German cuisine with a Northwest spin, of course, this is the place for you. Ingredients are mainly local while definitely holding to traditional fare. Easy to miss its low key exterior, especially in winter months when outdoor seating isn't as popular and parking can be a challenge, but worth the minor inconveniences once settled into the Beir Stuben style seating.
Mark Pittman
Great selection of German biers vom fass. Communal tables as in Germany. Dark, continental decor that works well. Good, classic German food menu selections. Not a long menu; the right length. The schweinshauxin was moist and tender with crispy skin, as it should be. Sauerbraten was tender and moist. I found it a tad too acidic and that dried my mouth, but maybe I’ve had too much of the American version. Service was good and not overbearing- B+.
Ian Lomax
Very authentic German food. We lived in Germany for three years and when we need some authentic German food we come here. Our favorites are the Maultaschen, the Jaeger Schnitzel and of course the great beer selection.
Abby Farber
Fantastic German Food with a great selection of beer. We were a group of 8 and had a nice big table. Excellent service. Noisy but acceptable.
Th C
One of those places where you ask for the check when your food comes out because it might be 20 minutes before you see your waiter again…. Food was ok though. Sit at the bar for beer or order to-go for food. Kinda regret wasting one of the few nights we had in town.
First Last
Practically the only place in town with my favorite beer, Ayinger Brau Wiesse! Can't even find it in stores but I can always count on Stammtisch. As a vegetarian I can pretty much only get the pretzel and the speatzle but both are very good. Good folks, friendly atmosphere.
Casey
Food is pretty good, prompt service, not too long of a wait, good beer selection. Only issue is the guy with the man bun behind the bar can't pour a beer to save his life; talk about beers with all foam/head. Sheesh.
Sam Sauter
Excellent food. We loved the Hausgemachte Wurst. The Rucola Salat was the best salad we have had in over a month. A very satisfying lunch! The restaurant was clean, the staff was well dressed and the room was warm and comfortable. We're going back.
Jake Carlsen
Best German food in the Portland metro area. Great service, staff, menu variety, and location. It's hard to think of what more could be asked for if you are looking for a good place for dinner or to hang out.
Russ Notdisclosed
You always wonder what damage the pandemic did to your favorite places but not here. It’s as great as it ever was! Literally the best schweinshaxe I’ve had anywhere. Including Germany.
Daniel Porter
We had a "Kirsch" lemon cocktail that was featured for the day and it was delicious. We didn't eat but the food smelled really good!
Jake Nagy
Great German food, drinks and atmosphere.
Scott Fish
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Portland - it has a great selection of German beirs and excellent food. The Schnitzel sandwich is a go-to for anyone that wants to have a great beer and late night snack.
Charles Seling
There is a large selection of German beer and the food is great. The staff is very friendly.
Blaine Watson
Amazing! Get the Schweinshaxe if it's available, the bretzels no matter what!
Marisol Clark
Great beer selection with knowledgeable bartenders, the food is always on point. The sausages are made in house, try the blood sausage! The dinner plates are always good and change regularly.
Ray Santoyo
The food was delicious! Got to taste a little bit of everything!
My waitress didn't write down my order (despite the restaurant being busy), and subsequently forgot it... Twice. And then brought me the wrong food.
Would definitely eat there again because the food is great, but the service could use some work.
Terry G
Exceptionally good German food, good selection of bier, and attentive service. Got to go to Germany to do any better. Popular place for good reason...aim for non-peak times to avoid a wait.
Trish Pruis
I forget the German names, but I ordered the equivalent of ravioli, pickles, and a soft pretzel. All were excellent!
Simone Pacheco
Yesterday sat at the bar of Stammtisch and Rowan came to the rescue! Great/great food and great wine recommendations. When back in town again (live in WA state) will go back again! Great atmosphere in a Sat night!
Kristie Ryder
Prost! I was on a mission to find a good German Bier bar in a city overflowing with IPA's. Great selection of brews, friendly staff, comfortable corner bar atmosphere. Now if I could only move you closer to my house!
Ira McKinzie
Wheelchair accessible, genders neutral bathrooms, seating inside, outside, and at the bar. Extensive list of booze, and maybe most importantly, delicious food! The currywurst was just like some I had in Berlin!
Leah V. H.
True German pub! Bartender was very welcoming and served me a great German red wine. The knock wurst was delicious along side a potato cake. Can't wait to go back for the Spätzle.
Brian Hughes
Lovingly cultivated taplist of German beer, paired with very good authentic German cuisine. Love the little touches like serving each beer in its proper brewery glass or stein.
Aidan Workman
Haven't had their food yet, but you can get a Liter of beer for $12. I love German beer and it's nice to have a focus on German beers as opposed to IPAs everywhere else
Boo danger
Wow! Everything was delicious! Some of the best German food I've had in the states! Beer selection was top notch too!
Asa Linsley
Greatest experience I've had in a bar in a long time. Bartender was great! Beer was even better! Awesomely friendly staff and great place to hang out and enjoy a few beers! Will definitely be back!
Matthew Carroll
Incredible food and atmosphere! One of the best restaurants in Portland.
Ryan Thiessen
Fantastic beer selection and the food was amazing! Hands down the best German food I've had outside of Germany. The service was fast and great!
DAVID
Love this place. Always a friendly face and the beer is served artfully. Great food to bat sets up this place as a much deserved local legend of a German bar.
Jennifer Politsch
Second time here and it was excellent. We had lunch and we're happy to find no wait for a table on a Saturday at noon. No kids menu but that just means we get some leftovers.
Tim Myers
One of the few places in PDX that has an extensive German beer list. Fantastic German food. Not dirt cheap, but a great value. The sauerbrauten which I'm spelling incorrectly is my favorite.
Shae Braun
Some of the best food I've ever had! Get the rabbit!! Amazing customer service, drinks, and cake!
Kayla Ault
Great beer selection and I onky2 tried appetizers but they were all good as well. If you are in Portland and want a go to place to find more than one dark beer offered instead of all IPAs this is a great place to check out
Ashley Jhaveri
Walking into Stammtich is like receiving a warm, mohagony hug. The food is excellent - especially the Maltoshen 🤩 German beer ftw. Check it out - you'll probably be happy about it. If not....... You might need an attitude adjustment. …
Tristin Mullins
Lively environment with great servers, delicious food, and affordable drinks. The imported taps are excellent and it feels like a very relaxing place to spend time with friends and family.
C.T. “CombatCritic” Sorrentino
Not quite what I expected, having spent quite a bit of time in Germany and with a name like Stammtisch (a table reserved for "regulars" in German). More of an American bar/pub look than a German gasthaus. They do have some larger community-style tables you would see in Munich and other places in Germany, but that was about it.
They do have a nice selection of German beers on tap at fairly reasonable prices ($5-$7 for 0.5 liter). I usually order my go-to, Warsteiner Dunkel, but decided on the Weltenburger Barock Dunkel, a dark, robust beer that was quite tasty instead.
The menu is not big, but that is usually a good thing because ingredients are normally fresher. Their plates come in "Kleine" (small - $4-$9), "Mittel" (middle or medium - $10-$16) and "Grosse" (big or large - $12-$23) with a nice selection of six or seven choices in each size class.
My wife would have gone with the Bretzel (pretzel - $5), but because I left her in Kansas, I ordered the Currywurst ($6), a sliced pork and veal sausage with fries and house curry ketchup in a small cardboard bowl (which I found a bit odd). What the dish lacked in presentation, it made up for in flavor and was quite tasty although not quite hot enough.
Their entrees include the classics, Sauerbraten ($19), Wienerschnitzel ($15), and, of course, my favorite, Jägerschnitzel ($16) which I ordered. The seared pork loin was medium in size and the mushroom gravy (Hunter's sauce) had all of two button mushrooms on top. The cutlet was served on top of the spätzle and red cabbage that accompanied it, not my preferred serving method. I love both spätzle and German red cabbage, but Jägerschnitzel should never sit on top of such an acidic and colorful side dish as red cabbage in my opinion. Spätzle? Maybe. Red cabbage? Absolutely not! I have had all types of schnitzels in Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, and Bosnia-Herzogovina (as well as the U.S. and India believe it or not) and was never served on on top of anything. In fact, many times the sides (spätzel, potatoes, vegetables) are routinely served family style in separate serving dishes, so the only thing on the plate is usually the schnitzel and it is normally massive.
The server was friendly and efficient although he never told me his name. I asked him about the size of the portions in order to determine whether or not I should order the currywurst and the Jägerschnitzel and after telling me, I decided to order the currywurst. My beer had arrived in the meantime and I was in no hurry to go back to an empty house, so I savored the brew and starter, planning on ordering another beer when he took my entree order. Next thing I knew, the Jägerschnitzel arrived much to my surprise. He must have misunderstood my intentions, but fortunately I would have ordered it anyway and had not changed my mind in the interim. I did not need the second beer anyway.
Parking is on the street only and a challenge to find a spot anywhere close, particularly for a disabled veteran. The currywurst could have been served in a proper dish or bowl, not something taquitos come in at a little league game. The jägerschnitzel should not have been "assumed" and absolutely NOT placed on top of the red cabbage. A little German ambience would also lend itself well to the surroundings, but overall it was a pleasant dinner.

Had a lot of fun. The dish I got was good. They had a dark weissbier, which was a bit of an oxymoron. Outdoor space didn't feel crowded.
Clarence Clayton, Jr
Stammtisch was great for a first time visit.
The service was top rate, the beers, excellent. The food is definitely worth returning for. Betsy Richter Clayton and I will go again.

Pretzel and schnitzel were delicious (wienerschnitzel)

Bassam Coury
We had the schweinshaxen and it was wonderful
Fernando Freire
Awesome selection of imported German beer from helles lagers to dunkel weizens. Fantastic food as well that changes fairly regularly. Go in the summer when it's nice out and the doors are open.
Aric Rist
Love the food, service and of course Bier here.
Kyle
Awesome place! Everything is German fare which is fairly obvious by the name but all their menu is delicious. The beers are plentiful and imported. Highly recommend
Kevan Banngertir
The food was really good and this was one of very few places we could find open late (around 1am) on a Tuesday night. The only thing was the bartender kind of had an attitude and was ease dropping in my private conversation I was having with my friend giving his option.
Lorelette Knowles
Terrific German cuisine, excellent service, reasonable prices. Had a wonderful time there with friends and would love to go again and try other menu items!
Jim Wiggins
You can get Andechs beer! And four different kinds of house made wurst. And spicy mustard. And many other interesting dishes, in three sizes. Sit outdoors at a picnic table.
Jon Simonson
So tasty! Best schweinshaxe I've had since München. Truly good German food here.
Georgia Gooch
Fun neighborhood German style restaurant and bar. Great German beer list to compliment a wonderful menu. Will go back to try more from the the beer list and the menu.

So excited to live nearby Stammtisch. Authentic German food and beer. Takes me back to my time living in and traveling Germany. Looking forward to filling out enough punch cards to get my name on a stool!
Jeff Freedman
Had the trout. Crisply fried with an herb butter. Delicious. Had a very cozy atmosphere too.
Ryan Dee

Great food options and have carryout, delivery through Grubhub. Food was delicious even if it was on pricey side, but the portions were good size. Food was delicious.
Eric Wiles
Brilliant stuff, I am a newly avowed fan!! The jagerschnitzel.....the rabbit.....
Cannot wait to return!!
thomas geiger
Awesome better than any deli. If you don't get the Russian dressing on the pastrami zombie someone's feeling may be hurt. The chocolate cookies are bomb too.
Nico Smith
Excellent beer selection. Friendly staff. Cool location. Easy enough parking. Food menu is nothing to write home about.
Katie G.
The food was SOO good!!! The beer and cider were also very good! Overall really great place. One of my local friends loves this place.

Best pretzel bun hamburger. Curry ketchup for fries - amazing!
Sess'ion “Ayo” M'ou
I never knew German food was my favorite this Chef is one of the best in the business and I know the business he has a way of coaxing out flavors I love salts and I didn't need it everything had its own nuance and flavor it was just perfect hidden Genesis service was delightful as well outdoor seating not real strict on smoking policy but real respectful
Chris
This place makes me feel like I'm home with my family in Gemramy again. Good that is just to die for with authentic German beers on tap. Words don't do justice to the glory that is Stammtisch.
Carol Nichols
Authentic German food, beer. Relaxed friendly atmosphere.
Helvetia Research
This wonderful restaurant is a piece of Germany right in the middle of Portland. It is great to go there and eat REAL German food at very fair prices. This place is a regular for us.
Jordan Enright Schulz (Jordie)
The food was delicious! I had spaetzle and some kind of sausage my dog and I loved. 🐾😊 The service was also excellent. We sat outside and it was lovely. 🌟 …
Kevin Moore
First impressions are beer-centric, but the food steals the show. Worth a try despite substantial waits for groups larger than four and a lack of anywhere to mill about while waiting.
Ben Zientara
Great German beer selection and a really fun menu. The sauerkraut is amazing and the herbed shoestring fries are really nice, too.
Liz N
Great food!!! Very nice employees!!!
Leah Martin
Very good food, mostly nice waiters. Our table was really small for a group of 6, I would not recommend it for groups larger than 4. Very cool atmosphere.
Amanda Mayther
Had the Maultaschen, Currywurst, Beet Salad and Kartoffelpuffer. Sooooo good. And The Glasschuh cocktail was so amazing I had 3 :)

Easily my favorite restaurant in Portland. Great selection of German imported beer, and an excellent menu. I've never been disappointed going here.
K W
Authentic German cuisine! Delicious and staff is friendly 🙂
Paul Dixon
Very good Bar with great - hard to get - German beers. The mark off is because (a) it's usually very busy & (b) there's not too much of an outdoor space, like Prost has.
Steven Clark
Outstanding pork knuckle. Large selection of German draft beers and wines. Outside seating and responsible indoor seating. Wunderbar!
david janecky
Great food and outdoor dining space at this neighborhood restaurant. Enjoyed the chicken & schnitzel entrees
JJ Aalto
We travel to this place for the excellent variety of German Bier and authentic food choices. The atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming

The staff was great, warn, and ok with the fact we couldn't pronounce anything in the menu. The food was big in taste and size. First time a piece of meat bested me in a long time.
John Pozar
Beer was great. Pork schnitzel special was only OK.
Kelly Davis
Super solid food and drinks; charcuterie board is a must! Lots of great German beer and good atmosphere.
Johnathan Shelton
Excellent place for German food and beer. The bartender had several good recommendations for beers. Definitely coming back here for beers and maybe to watch a game
Carl
Really good German fare, some of my favorite in Portland. Beer is good and measured in liters. Visit during October for their Oktoberfest events!
Marbra Cohen
Love everything about this restaurant!
Craig Reichelt
Went to the same Oktoberfest last year and it was just as excellent. Suggest going Saturday as the 1.5L mugs were sold out by 4 Sunday.
Steffan Cowan
Food was great. Inside noise level is really high and I had to take my Hearing aids out. Servers are great as well. Food reminds me of home.
Abel DiGiorno
I didn't understand the menu very well but I was amazed at how good the food was. They also have craft beers on tap.
laurence grisanti
One of my favorite places. Completely dialed in.
Pedigree Catamarans
Great neighborhood place. I sat at busy bar and once noticed, got some great Reisling and Bratwurst with sauerkraut. Very tastey and reasonable prices!
Lori Erickson
Delicious food and wonderful wait staff. The mushroom gravy on the jagerschnitzel is to die for! The potato pancake with cinnamon applesauce is tasty too.
Klaus Ruff
Real German food and beers
Halstead York
Great German beer selection, and maybe the best fancy burger in town. And remarkably resilient in the post-apocalypse
Andrew McVey
Awesome bar and awesome food. Had a great coctail and a great beer. Food menu is authentically bavarian and good for sharing among groups.
Dennis Heller
Nice Bier selection, Ok versions of German food, but took too long to come out. Could do without the heavy metal music.
frogabog
My favorite place for food and bier. Not an IPA in sight. Delicious foods, delicious bier, and great atmosphere. Sad that I don't live 2 blocks away anymore...
Jutta Crawford
German restaurant, authentic food... I can tell because I am a German ;)

ben ray
Newton place good food and beer. Staff is friendly too.
Kelsi Taylor
Fantastic dining experience. Even incredibly busy, the customer service was excellent, and the food was all served hot and beyond delicious
Everett Yockey
If you love German food and beer, this is the place to go. The best selection of beers in town, and the closest thing to authentic German food outside of being in Germany.
Jody Oliva
Really good. But no one can match Der Rheinlander or now Gustavs.
Patrick Miller
Most complete meat and cheese board I've come across. Prost!
Dennis Johnson
First visit and was very glad I made it in. Will be going down the list of German beers over time. Had a great dinner at a reasonable price.
Javier Carmona
Really good for a casual date or lunch with friends, also good to watch football (soccer) games, it is a German place so games will be Bundesliga, avoid driving so you can enjoy their famous giant mugs and great beer.
Benjamin Porter
Delicious beer and very friendly staff!! Fun and unique environment. Food came out fast and was tasty!
