Reviews of Miss Portland Diner
On a traveling assignment for work and I've been looking for a place to eat breakfast 🤔. Of course, Google came to my rescue when I saw a picture of this diner...I just knew the food was going to be great. Of course, I was right and I can't wait to go back to try the lunch menu because I eyed the roasted sweet potato wedges which sounds amazing 😋. On another note, the breakfast was so good and fulfilling... not to mention the great service that was received from the staff!! 🥰🥰🥰
It's your classic diner. We stopped by on our way to the beach. Coffee was ok. Breakfast was tasty. Service was courteous, fast and efficient. They have seating outside. Nice atmosphere. Hard to find parking though but I'd recommend it.
They are busy after we got here. Which is good for us haha.
Very simple diner with lot of outdoor seating which seems to be always full. You can forget it. Kids and adults is always there.
Inside is a little more fluid but they are busy as well. We got lucky to arrive before a group on 10.
Food is simple to fill up and get going. I like the coffee which is the most important part of the breakfast of course.
Tip well and free the table.
Our Uber driver told us it was the best breakfast in Portland and it didn't disappoint. First time I've had REAL corned beef hash - not the canned stuff I get at home. The Irish Benedict was the bomb. Great atmosphere and really good food!
Come for simple food made very well. Good service. No wait when Marcy's or Bayside had 40min+ waits.
The Good:
Amazingly good food. They are very okay with adjusting and modifying meals, especially for dietary restrictions. Less busy than other popular Portland brunch places. Service was nice and prompt.
The meh:
None.
The Bad:
None.
Were in town for a bowling event and figured it would be very busy on a Sunday morning but the hostess was very nice and accommodated us with stool seating at the counter inside the vintage traincar. The corned beef hash and pancakes were VERY good and the staff are all extremely pleasant. Great oldies music too! Pretty much the quintessential dining car experience, although I would warn anyone coming for the nostalgia and atmosphere to be aware that there's an attached add-on building to the car that has more of a modern feel and may not live up to the expectations you see in Google photos.
If you looking for a perfect American Dinner experience then Miss Portland is the place. Its my second time and I have become a permanent food lover of Portland breakfast abd blueberry pancakes.
This is the very best steak I have ever had with steak and eggs. Great service. Delicious. Clean. Wonderful. Thank you!
miss portland fills a much-appreciated niche in the city’s food scene by providing diner staples at an above-average quality. keep in mind that the higher prices (compared to becky’s) are very much worth it.
the short rib benedict was incredible. never had steak and eggs before but i might now be a believer. also a special, surprising shout out to the home fries — not that crispy yet this texture almost melted in my mouth. plus some humorous, non-offensive bathroom stall graffiti always brightens a cold winter morning.
keep on chuggin, our beloved box car!
What a pleasant surprise this was. Very stylish, revamped old diner car. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and well informed about the history of the car itself. Food was fast and parking was free, and easy. Definitely would come back!! Yum!
The décor is charming. the staff was wonderful our waitress gave great service and the food was good i had the stake and eggs and my friend had the Corn beef and hash both were good the breakfast potato are amazing and the stake was good but i tried my friends corn beef and hash and i would Definitely get that next time
SO DELICIOUS! As people who are always looking for great breakfast places, my boyfriend and I were so happy to stumble onto this diner. They were definitely the best breakfast we had on our whole Maine vacation. The pancakes with fresh blueberries were outstanding. The home fries were perfect. Everything was just cooked perfectly.
Highly recommend the Acadian Omelette.
The staff was very friendly. The food was really good and reasonably priced. The menu has plenty of options for most people. I would go again if I were in the area.
Food was delicious and staff was great. Awesome spot
I love the whole aesthetic of this place! The staff and service are great. I only get breakfast here not matter what time of day or night I go and it's always been fantastic and you really can't beat the prices!
The breakfast was so good, the mimosas were fantastic and the staff was extremely friendly! This was a fun place to have breakfast! I highly recommend!
Delicious breakfast! The marble rye bread was so good, we went to the local bakery where they purchase it to take some home. The coffee was also good, far better than your average diner cup of coffee. .
AMAZING french toast!! Veggie and greek omelette were super good too. Definitely coming back!!
Classic Diner, got to sit in the old diner area, small booths, but excellent food and atmosphere. 5 stars isn't saying it's upscale, 5 stars is exactly what you want when going to a diner! Great service, they make you feel comfortable.
The wait for food was a little long but clearly it’s because it’s a popular restaurant. The wait was worth it I had the best corn beef hash omelette of my life. Irish coffee was delicious. Party of 6 all of us enjoyed our food.
Cooked to perfection. Sausage gravy on biscuit and eggs cooked perfectly, toast was perfect. Staff friendly and professional . This was a return visit and will again . Parking available and safe.
WELL DONE.
Food is delicious! The cook is amazing, everything is always good when i go. My mom absolutely loved the Clam Chowder. Waitresses are always very nice. Pancakes are huge and delicious so keep it in mind.
I loved the old time charm, the ambiance was nice, the prices were extremely good, the hostess was really nice too. The bathroom were so clean and nice. The food was really good, the french toast with the maple syrup is to die for. Yep I would definitely visit this dinner again whenever i come to portland maine.
Outstanding! You will have to wait for a table but it worth it!
We checked in and we’re told it would be 1 hour. It was actually 1 hour and 20 minutes. We were seated in the main diner and noticed there were multiple empty counter seats. When we asked about whether we could have sat there we were told yes. Why they did not tell us this up front is still a mystery. No one had an answer. We were visiting from out of town. Food was okay but not great. We will not be returning to this diner on future visits.
Food is adequate.... service is incredible, and the atmosphere is fun. Food can be a hit or a miss but definitely worth the experience
Miss Portland Diner was a fantastic spot. As previously reviewed, the pancakes are amazing. I had the buttermilk. Pictured to the left of the pancakes is their Irish Benedict. Corned beef hash instead of the traditional Canadian Bacon. It was fantastic. They also had a apple cider mimosa that was perfectly splendid. Definitely worth checking out if you can. Service was great too.
Outstanding value and food! Must try their signature Corned Hash Beef dish. Great dish. I also enjoyed their pumpkin pancake. Will return again.
Since 1949 this diner has served the greater Portland area. The building itself if a classic old diner with an attached modern-ish addition for extra seating. The staff is very nice and helpful, the coffee was good too. One thing that really stood out in the meal was the pancakes. These were some of the best pancakes I’ve ever had and they took this place from a 4 to a 5 rating for me.
Outside seating was great. Staff very pleasant and the breakfast omelet I ordered was super tasty.... I will return.
Food was excellent and the server was friendly and personable. The place was busy so we sat at the counter upstairs. Pleasant place to eat.
Loved this diner!! Plenty of off-street parking, counter/bar seating, along with tables. Great service, very clean and great food!
The food here is veryyyy good. The service seems slow, but the line was also very long. Adorable little spot though. I’d definitely come back.
Goodness I love this place. Visited last weekend and the wait was worth it. They gave us free coffee because it was cold outside. The pancakes are massive. Great fries, food, everything. Waitress was a delight.
Miss Portland Diner is a cute breakfast spot by the local college. They added outdoor seating. The prices are reasonable. There’s a big parking lot to accommodate all customers. Definitely, stop by Miss Portland for some food. Try the Lobster Benedict and French toast!
Very accommodating, opened their outdoor seating for us and our dog. Coffee is bracing, as in loosen your fillings strong, but good. My gigantic blueberry pancake was very tasty with fresh, not frozen blueberries. Eggs were cooked to order and sausage was savory. Friendly staff and a dinner with history. Thumbs up all around.
Updated 1/8/23... Had "brunch" with friends on a busy Saturday at about 11am. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. Smaller parties (single, couples) seated quicker. Food, as before, was just awesome. Our group ordered a variety... omelets, sandwiches, pancakes. All was expertly prepared and delicious. Portions are fairly large, so PLENTY to eat. Definitely going back!!
Older review: Had lunch here today... not that crowded (weekday). Breakfast all day, good burgers...
Diner-style comfort food... great place!!
This is a neat little diner in Portland. It’s in an old dining car, one of the last of its kind I think I read. There was a parking lot right near the diner which was convenient. Staff was nice. Food was reasonably priced. I got steak & eggs and a coffee. The steak was a tres major. It was a nice breakfast. I’d eat here again.
The first diner I visit in Maine and it's amazing. Nice sit down diner with a cozy and energetic ambience.
Good breakfast and comfort food with amazing flavor and plenty of coffee. The orders have generous portions, my girlfriend couldn't even finish the whole burrito. I ordered a a delicious breakfast sandwich and my brother ordered his favorite shamrock omelette with corn beef hash which is the best corn beef from a diner.
Come here if you want good food and a classic American diner setting.
Great selection, very good service and fair prices. Wait time extensive, but they can be proud of that- never a bad thing for a small restaurant!
Fantastic diner atmosphere, friendly, quick service! The food was exactly what you want and hope for at a diner: fresh, delicious, and straightforward. I got the pancake special and we split a frappe that was a special, too. My spouse had eggs cooked to perfection. We’ll definitely return any time we’re in Portland or driving north to other points in Maine.
Pretty good place to eat breakfast. Service was good and food was decent. Could have been seasoned a bit more but overall it was good
I am a regular at this dinner. I'm always greeted with a smile and friendliness. The food is excellent and the coffee tastes really good. Could go there every day.
Steak and eggs were really good and were perfectly cooked. Great servers, very nice. Big parking lot so no worries about where to park.
Excellent classic diner, fantastic pancakes, my one "beef" was that the corned beef hash was essentially slow cooker beef stew thrown on a flat top til it crisps up, otherwise excellent! Service was top notch!
A little pricey than what I expected but very delicious. That clam chowder was enjoyable and the lobster roll had plenty of meat.
The portions are HUGE (especially the pancakes!) and the service is friendly. Very unique interior (train car!) - definitely worth a visit for breakfast or brunch when in town. Popular with locals and tourists alike.
A historic Portland diner experience.
If you're a fan of greasy spoon diner establishments, you need to come to Miss Portland Diner. Located near Bayside, it's not very far from downtown Portland or Forest Ave.
They offer traditional diner breakfast foods at reasonable prices (most dishes are around $10 or less), as well as lunch. The interior is deceptively large - and it's generally clean inside.
The only downside of the place is that there aren't usually a lot of servers, and the waits tend to be on the longer side. Still, the food is great, and the atmosphere is fun as long as you don't mind a little noise.
Would definitely recommend for breakfast, brunch, or even just lunch.
Amazeballs is all I can say. Went to Maine to spend the 2nd weekend of September, found Miss Portland Diner and we had brunch there, both days we were there. Food is amazing, it was 6 of us and everyone loved the food and service we received.
One of my favorites for a hearty breakfast. The place is divided into two dining areas. One more of a cafe setting with tables and chairs and then another that is more of the classic rail car style diner with booths and counter stools. I always choose the latter. I used to go to this section as a kid when it was a stand alone diner at a different locale. The food! Classic diner breakfast and lunch. I ordered a Shamrock omelet which was stuffed with homemade corned beef hash. It came with classic grilled, skin on home fries that are perfectly seasoned and marble rye toast. More than I could eat... it generally is over there. Bonus: They actually serve good coffee too. Previously I dropped in for lunch. Again, great experience and food. A big ole fresh fried haddock sandwich and a cup of chowder. Fantastic! The counter service is always pleasant and attentive. Price point is on par with most other diners in the area.
Easy 5 stars.
Charming little diner! Excellent customer service, coffee constantly topped off. The food was delish! I had the eggs Benedict and the hubby had the breakfast burrito. A must 'do' for any diner or breakfast enthusiast!
This place is awesome- super cool. My breakfast is scrumptious. Forget all those reviews stating that service is slow- those people are total fools. The service here is impeccable.
I was a little apprehensive after reading mixed reviews, particularly about service, so decided to check it out for myself and was pleasantly surprised. Coffee was offered immediately upon sitting down, and refilled prior to my breakfast arriving. I ordered the Bayside Breakfast, with one piece of French toast and one blueberry pancake. The eggs were fluffy, home fries well-seasoned, bacon wasn't overcooked as is often the case, pancake was good, but the star of the show was definitely the French toast - crispy on the outside, moist in the middle, and made out of a delicious cinnamon bread. The check was brought over immediately upon finishing every bite on the plate. Would definitely return.
Went for breakfast with my wedding party and we had a great time with great food! Everything was just how we asked for it and we waited almost no time!
Good diner breakfast food. The biscuits and gravy are homemade and delicious. Perfectly cooked sunny side up fried eggs. The staff is friendly and attentive.
Excellent hand pattied burger and hand cut fries.
I tried a bite of my husband's Irish Eggs Benedict and it, too, was delicious.
Great service and atmosphere.
Great breakfast spot, consistently good food and friendly staff. I highly recommend if you’re in Portland.
Quick and friendly service! Everything we had was so good and decently priced we actually went back a second time at the end of our trip! The fried haddock sandwich, side salad, fries, roasted turkey sandwich, baked Mac and cheese bowl, house fries, chicken tender basked, and milkshakes were all wonderful!
What a cute little diner! Food was delicious, portions not overly huge. Dogs allowed outside. Waitress was so friendly and prompt. Very inexpensive too.
It's exactly what I think of when I hear the word diner. The staff was super friendly and very attentive. The coffee was diner coffee. The pancakes and the bacon were top notch! Eggs and home fries were...eh. but overall it was a good experience and we'll be back.
My first lobster roll .... WAS DELICIOUS. Good Portion of lobster, mimosas were good too. 25 minute wait was a bit long but very happy overall.
good diner food! surprised by the little amount of potatoes served with the meal, but it was delicious
Normally this place is spot on, but today’s meal was downright shameful.
Undercooked pancakes, greasy bacon, eggs were not made to order, and the potatoes had a strange taste of brine.
I asked them to take the entire plate back which is a first for me....
Good friendly staff, great food and refreshing drinks collection.
I've been in many of these old diners over the years. This one is over the top. Fantastic homemade meals, impeccable friendly service. All done in my favorite wood, Mahogany. Worth driving out of the way for.
Sussie is a STAR!! An amazing person who read my mind when it came to ordering my food :) She is a pure delight and super professional in every way! It is a real Honor to meet her! This Place is Very Special in every way! The Food was super Delicious Pls see photos ( Lobster benedict) Down to buttered toasted english muffins Yamm.. We set outside, But the Inside is Beautiful and clean and cosy!! Just loved everything about it! Thank You Sussie!!!
2wks ago,had a rueben, IT WAS TERRIBLE!!!!And to be honest..I was very disappointed in their attitude, also,a gentleman sitting g a few seats down compla I Ned of HIS meal wasn't to good(that's how I took it)
Fun and delicious. Great service. We were seated relatively quickly, even for getting there during primetime breakfast hours.
That pancake was HUGE and buttery delicious.
Very enjoyable breakfast. Extensive menu. The Western omelet is a full breakfast. Stayed for over an hour. Great service.
Great place for breakfast and lunch. Always busy, but worth a wait to sit in the original diner car.
Great little dinner, larger than it seems. Good food and great staff
Local and fresh ingredients play a key role in this diner's draw and popularity. It was our first time here and were pretty impressed by the taste of much our food, which ranged from their burger, Bayside breakfast, fish and chips, hotdog, and milk shake. It gets busy at lunchtime, but you can usually get a seat pretty quickly. Only downside I can think of is the kitchen can be slow in producing food. It's a breakfast diner - food should be flying out of there.
Meh.
Food was ok, wait staff may benefit from training.
I had the steak and eggs. The teres major was very rare, almost blue, even tho I asked for it medium rare. The flavor was very good; I only tasted them meat. The eggs were done perfectly, exactly as ordered. The tomatoes were very bland, almost tasteless. The one potato piece I ate tasted like a potato.
Partner had the Buffalo chicken wrap. The sauce had soaked thru the wrap. Flavor was meh. The potato chips were quite good, fresh. and served warm.
Partner had a coffee shake. I didjt try it, because she finished it within 5 minutes. She said it was amazing.
The coffee was the worst coffee I've had in years. It tasted burnt, and stale.
The wait staff...
Seemed very brusque. Took our order. Wrote it down.
Id asked if I could substitute the potatoes for something else, and was told that they could leave them off. I agreed. They came anyway. I told the server about the mistake, and they agreed without asking if they could fix it. I also told the the coffee was pretty bad, and tasted burnt and stake, and they expressed surprise. Did not offer new coffee. Server did not refill my water.. server did not ask us if we wanted dessert.. Server did check on us once, so thats a plus.
The decor was exactly what you'd expect of a dining car! Great appliances, lots of chrome and pleather. The decor was probably the best part.
All in all, I was disappointed
Great service and really good food.
Get the home-made corn beef hash!! Never have i ever had it so good, it really is home made not like the canned stuff. I love the blueberry pancakes here, not overly sweet which is almost always the case! The staff are very friendly.
Server Katie was great, food came out quick and cooked perfect! Back Bay Breakfast devoured!!! 2eggs, home fries, 2 sausage or 2 bacon, french toast or pancakes, YUM YUM!!!
Great service, great little American diner. Food is fantastic, buttery and delicious. Seating was a little tight up top in diner area but there is more room on main floor as well as outdoor seating. Very comfortable environment. No mask required! Get the muffins and toast grilled!
Prices are getting a little up there, but this is an easy recommendation. Go have some hash today!
A great breakfast spot in the Portland area. We searched this out for the nostalgic diner car and it was definitely on point. The blueberry pancakes was awesome and the staff was very friendly and inviting.
Great classic american diner. Best pancakes anywhere (they're huge) and the Acadia Omelet always hits the spot. Typically diner coffee is bland and weak. Theirs is actually pretty good.
Excellent food and service. One of my favorite breakfast spots!
Cute and cozy. Very good.
The pancakes were the size of the plate!! They were huge and delicious we had both pumpkin & blueberry. And a breakfast egg sandwich which was also very good. Wait staff was great & friendly. Definitely would recommend!!
Great for breakfast with both conventional and creative offerings. I had the Thai omelette today with Spinach, mushrooms, apple sausage and cheese with a little siracha sauce drizzled on top. Very happy with taste and fully belly feel upon exit. Server was attentive and efficient. Overall happy to be back at one of my fav breakfast spots
I had the traditional eggs Benedict it was delicious. My friend had a burger and said it was cooked perfectly medium how he asked for it. Very juicy and filling. We took slice of carrot cake to go for his birthday. But we wished we would have gotten two because it was THAT good.
Had biscuits and gravy. It's one big biscuit split in half but good. My wife had a western omlette and she couldn't finish it. We ordered French toast for my 18 month old and it was yummy.
We were there this Sunday for breakfast. Super cute trolley diner. Outside seating is limited but there's an inside first floor seating area along with an upper level. All staff were very friendly. Food was great. Menu has a lot of options. You can also enjoy both breakfast and lunch menu after 11am. I highly recommend it.
Amazing locally sourced food! The staff was friendly and helpful!
This place is amazing and a must when you are in Portland!! I would give 10 stars if I could! Jessica was super nice and great!
Great place for a quality breakfast. They support local and utilize them for all ingredients.
Meh. Hearty spinach stems throughout the omelette.
Traditional diner with great food. Atmosphere was awesome too
Good food and love the atmosphere!
Corned beef hash is their specialty. Breakfast on the weekend is rarely too long of a wait (<20min). Wait staff delivers quality meals with a smile. Off the beaten path type of diner.
Cute diner. Breakfast was exactly as ordered. Very pleasant staff.
Great staff, great food. Nice original dishes that fit the dinner menu well and also all the standard diner fare done great. Always a good experience even when its packed during peak periods.
Update: Same great service. Great specials on the boards. Food was as-ordered and tasted great. Sat in the old section which is the original old train dinning car type diner with old booths and original 1950's stools at the counter. It's a little cozier and small and a lot quieter. I love this place!
A cute little diner and the food is fantastic. We stopped for breakfast and both got the Irish Benedict with corned beef hash and I cannot recommend it enough. My only complaint would be the location, but it's worth the trip
Love their breakfast and their burgers and fries were awesome too. Last time I went they had maple syrup from a local farm (Hilltop Boilers) and it was DELICIOUS. 🤤
MPD has been around for me any years. It was moved across the street several years ago and enlarged but retained it's Diner atmosphere. Food was good and the staff was friendly and effecent .
A vintage diner. Very, very busy. 11AM and still a 44 minute wait. That was a surprise. But the food was good, and the wait staff attentive. Most of the wait staff were masked, but not all. Cooks were not masked. Fortunately, the unmasked waitress was not ours.
Unique corned beef hash! Almost like pot roast. Pancakes were huge and tasty. Wait staff was friendly.
There was a little bit of a wait to get in...sat in the diner car...had a great breakfast and pretty good service
Eh… it was just okay. Came on a Friday morning, long wait… ordered the 3 egg scrambled and waitress got the order wrong…food was fine but nothing extraordinary
Excellent omelets and blueberry pie. Definitely worth returning to explore more of the menu.
Pros: Authentic Worcester Lunch Car Co. diner in beautiful condition, it is a step back in time. Vintage music playing. Convenient location with off street parking. Eggs benedict was awesome. Service was good and friendly. Cons: pancakes a tad bit dry although they come with real maple syrup
For many years, I thought of the MPD as home. With the departure of some long time staff, the familiarity has diminished a little. The food is great. Prices are reasonable. To visitors, it is place not to be missed. I'll still drop in when I'm back in town for the Reuben or the Bayside breakfast.
Stopped through here on a road trip and happened upon this diner. AMAZING service, food was great and hot and served quickly. They had a dog friendly patio with heaters. Our server was Susan and our experience with her was perfect. If we are ever in the area we will be back!!
Short (15 minute) wait on a Friday wasn't so bad. Food was great and they serve big portions for breakfast. Lots of options to choose from without being overwhelming. Service was quick until we needed our check - then it took a while to get someone to come over, and then another long wait once they took our check. Otherwise, good experience.
Really cute place, food was good. Prices were maybe a little higher than we would have expected for breakfast in a dinner but staff was friendly, service was quick.
Awesome breakfast!Classic diner car!Superb service!
So cute. Also, seriously the best egg sandwich I've ever had. The English muffin was so light and fluffy, salty Canadian bacon and a perfectly cooked egg. Wow. Can't believe I'm writing a review for a breakfast sandwich, but so delish. Everyone was really friendly as well.
Was here about a year ago and really enjoyed their breakfasts. We were back in Portland recently and decided to try again, hoping they had outdoor seating. They did have outdoor seating (as well as indoor). A year later and their breakfasts remain great. Between the Cajun omelette, biscuits and gravy and bacon, everything was delicious.
Really great food and staff was kind and attentive.
Just had an outstanding lunch - the turkey on the turkey sandwich was real, not deli meat, and was very generous. The vegetables on the side salad were incredibly fresh, the dressing tasted homemade and if it wasn't then it was very high quality. Best of all, our server was engaging, smiled genuinely and gave us outstanding service. I am sorry that as a local I have just tried this place for the first time. I will be making up for time lost! What a great place!
Breakfast was good. Corned beef had more vegetables than meat which was a bummer. Pancake was great.
Get ready to wait for a table
We had brunch at Miss Portland Diner. We had the Chicken Pot Pie(Special), Banana Pancakes with Granola and the Arcadian Omelette. The food was really good. Service a bit slow, but considering they were dealing with a busy morning and covid restrictions, I would say they did their best. We did not get a chance to try their milkshakes, but definitely recommend Miss Portland Diner for a hearty breakfast.
Amazingly busy, for a reason. The breakfast was served quickly, hot and deliciously prepared. The omletes were on point, chock full of ingredients. The experience was worth the wait. Totally recommend.
Good food and friendly service reasonable prices
We enjoy the Miss Portland Diner each time. Our go to for a nice breakfast.
The hollandaise sauce was well done. Nicely poached eggs. Home fries were also good I would recommend for a breakfast spot.
My breakfast was amazing. I thought my memory had been fooling me when I remembered how much I liked it last time, but it wasn't. The home fries are the best I've ever had. Really! The omelet choices were amazing, and I loved that I could find several choices that were good even for lactose intolerant people. This is all in addition to the amazing original 1950's diner car, and the great wait staff.
Good food cool old school feel on the inside.
Good food and friendly people. Many non-masked people were here though
Service was fast and very friendly. All the employees seemed to be moving as fast as they could to get everyone seated and served in as timely a manner as possible. Food was just okay though. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, and maybe I should cut them some slack because this hardly the south, but both the biscuits and the gravy were pretty terrible. Eggs were cooked appropriately and the home fries were decent.
We have gone to the diner for years. It is always consistently delicious. My wife really enjoyed the short rib egg's Benedict
While my daughter was in surgery, I found this cute diner and gave it a try to keep my mind off things since I couldn't go in with her due to Covid. The waitress was exceptionally friendly and the food was amazing. The receipt says her name was Catherine. She made me feel welcome and took my mind off things. highly recommend, thank you!
I would describe this as upscaled classic lunch options at a very reasonable price. Fresh and delicious chicken salad on marble rye won me over even more with homemade chips! Staff was friendly and efficient as well.
Stopped in to get a quick breakfast sandwich to go. Not as quick as I'd hoped, but then it isn't a fast food place. I asked if I could get it just egg whites & crispy bacon and the friendly waitress said sure, read it back to me, and put it in. As I waited I found I was staring down the barrel of a gloriously delicious-looking carrot cake displayed on the counter. My willpower utterly failed me and I added a slice to my order and ate it much later when I got home. Brilliant. Delicious.
Cute little diner, nice and attentive wait staff and very good food at a good price. Will return to try other menu options for sure
Great service and I enjoyed my corned beef hash quite a lot. Their pancakes are also huge and I'd recommend just getting one if you're eating them by yourself.
Nice quaint little diner with most of its seating in the back behind the actual train car front facade. There’s a good chance of a wait but the wait is worth it for the incredible breakfast food you get. Everything a ordered came out great and the specials all sounded amazing. The price wasn’t bad either, with my total being much less than I originally expected going in.
Food Service Nostalgia...this place is fully loaded and so is the breakfast.
Had the Miss Portland Breakfast Homer's blueberry pancakes bacon and overeasy eggs.TOPED WITH REAL MAPLE SYRUP.
Great food! Great staff! Great atmosphere! If you don’t mind a little wait and believe me it’s worth the wait. Go here you won’t be disappointed. Five stars doesn’t truly describe my experience every time I go here.
My wife and I drove up to Portland this Memorial Day weekend to visit my sister and have lunch somewhere. Every place we called (for takeout) had a fairly long wait and so we were trying to decide which was most worth waiting for. We then happened to drive by the Miss Portland and my sister commented that their food was pretty good. We called and were told that we could pick something up in about 15 minutes, so we ordered a couple cheeseburgers, a Reuben, fries and a shake. I have to say they were probably the best sandwiches (and shake, fries & hand cut chips) we've had ANYWHERE (and we know good food). I would give this 6 stars!
Omg, I had the very best pancakes I have ever eaten in my entire life: tasteful, soft, fluffy. I am kidding you not! Plus, the service was attentive, and friendly!
There is parking, which is great. The wait at peak brunch hour on Sunday was only about 20-30 minutes, but they definitely did not have enough staff working and service was understandable scattered and slow. I had the corned beef hash Benedict, since the menu made a point of calling out how good the house-made corned beef hash is. While it was fine, I would not order it again. The hash is shredder, not chopped, has not real color, and was very bland, not even particularly salty. The English muffin was fluffy and tender but the hollandaise sauce had split a little. The side home fries were well seasoned but a few bites were slightly undercooked. My friend had the Thai omelette and liked it. Prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is unpretentious.
Food was good but it took foreverrrrr lol
Miss Portland Diner is a phenomenal place to eat. Waking through the door there is a seat yourself atmosphere that feels right at home. The server was friendly and attentive. Picking out breakfast was a simple affair. Our food was delivered quite promptly and tasted as good as anything home cooked! With ample places to park I would highly recommend visiting Miss Portland Diner if you’re in the area.
We had a fantastic breakfast. The home fries were cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of seasoning. The French toast was the best!!
Fast service & decent diner breakfast for the price.
Great little diner. Everything you would expect. Good coffee and great food. Indoor seating in a classic dining car, also booths and outdoor seating for the warmer months. Serving ingredients from local Maine area businesses. Also there are coffee cups for purchase as an awesome souvenir!
Great haddock sandwich and the onion rings were addicting! Great for kids
We had the best meal there ! Split a grilled chicken salad and the special chicken pot pie and it was phenomenal! Oh and I can't forget the best milkshake ever! Vanilla flavored was soo delicious! Well be back for many more visits! The service was great too!
Miss Portland Diner is a great old (coach car?)diner that has been moved, refurbished, and expanded. Great place for breakfast or lunch, and Sunday Brunch! The food is always good, the staff is friendly, and always busy during peak times. I would recommend being seated in the old diner section of the restaurant!
Absolutley fantastic! Great food fast service very clean. The waitstaff is great here.this was my first time being here and I'm not an easy person to please so i give this 5 stars and more if i could everyone should try this place
Stopped for breakfast in the historic dining car. Marie provided exceptional service and the Bayside Breakfast was amazing. Kudos to the chef as everything was expertly seasoned (didn't need any salt, pepper or ketchup) and was presented at proper temperature. It is evident that Miss Portland Diner is complying with Covid-19 precautions, allowing them to continue serving great food. I encourage everyone to support this local icon, especially during these difficult times. Keep up the great work Miss Portland Diner staff! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Awesome diner environment - railcar, counters, and standard tables
Loved the vibe here. The key to a great oldies vibe is the music. You can't sit in an oldies diner or an old rail car diner and listen to Cardi B. I need Jailhouse Rock with my flapjacks and that's what I got here.
Great diner in Portland with reasonable prices. Be prepared to wait a little on weekends, but the wait is worth it. Though not technically a brunch spot, they do feature mimosas and draft beers.
I always feel good when I eat in this classic breakfast dining car diner. The only problem is sometimes there can be a crowd. I got there just after they opened on a weekday and it was a breeze!
When I was young, there was one in my hometown and in those days it was cheap as dirt. Now everyone loves the nostalgia and the prices have to reflect the cost of having a prime location downtown.
Classic diner housed in part rail car part cafe. Small and cozy. Friendly staff. Wait times managed well. Good food selections. We chose breakfast menu items — not disappointed — pumpkin pancakes were awesome. We loved the classic coffee mugs so much we bought a couple for our coffee mug collection.
Love this place the Irish Benedict is great ..
Until a couple of weeks ago, I had not been to Miss Portland Dinner since it was still on the other side of Marginal Way. The Menu variety is terrific with plenty of traditional dinner meals. I had the correct beef hash eggs benedict which was delicious. And it was a test to sit in a booth on the original part of the dinner. Very pleasant staff and great service.
This was a great spot! I had a breakfast burrito, something that had been sorely missing from my life, and it was fantastic. Great service, very hospitable and friendly. Make sure you opt to sit in the dining area that resides inside the train car. It’s a cool vibe.
My favorite place for breakfast in Portland. This may be heresy but I prefer it over Becky's. The staff is great and good at keeping your coffee cup filled. The food isn't fancy but it's delicious. I've gone a couple of times for lunch and dinner as well and was happy with the meal and service (plus they serve breakfast all day which is always a big thumbs up in my book).
I honestly was not expecting much when I walked up, I was pleasantly surprised. I had the special Irish Breakfast (bangers, beans etc.) I have never had bangers and it was very good.
Only critique, it feels a little cramped in the upstairs portion. Overall, an enjoyable experience.
Such a cute breakfast place! Service was nice and quick, food was tasty, and the restaurant seemed to be enjoyed by all groups of people, from families, younger college students, and older folks as well. The outside of the restaurant is also a perfect place for a nice picture!
Corned beef hash was fantastic as was the customer service. The train car was a great place to eat my breakfast. I will be looking forward to eating here again soon
It's a shame that the rating has to suffer so much for the poor service because the food was actually really good. Meatlovers omelette with wheat toast and a side of bacon. Everything was cooked perfectly and met my expectations. Service left a lot to be desired. Waitress was rude, did not offer to top off our coffee or even check in after she delivered our food. Left us with the check and walked past our table several times with money sitting out waiting and did not pick it up. We ended up taking the money to the counter ourselves. Probably won't return
Good food. Felt rushed out by staff
If you're looking for generous proportions of both breakfast and lunch entrees along with creative specials, this is the place to be. Great food and terrific service. Love the diner atmosphere with music from the 50s playing in the background. Highly recommend!!
Awesome old diner with great food and nice music. Even as a young person it's truly nostalgic, if you want a nice and easy place to stop for lunch in Portland, you should go here.
This diner is a rare find! Worcester Lunch Car No. 818.
The food is exceptionally good, way above average and what you would expect from a long established (Since 1949) fixture in the Portland landscape. Very clean, well maintained. I had sausage and eggs, cooked to order and they exceeded my expectations. Wonder if Diners, Drive-ins and Dives have shot this location yet. Perky, attentive and bubbly waitstaff. A diamond and a jewel. If you’re over in the Old Port and stuck for parking and long lines at Becky’s Diner, by all means cross over the hill to here. It’s conveniently located between Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Eastern Mountain Sports. Make a day of it. Easy access to I-295, exit 7. Definitely coming here again and making this a regular stop. Good prices, open Mon - Sun.
Never been here before until the other day. I went during lunch time so it was pretty packed but the service was awesome and efficient and even though there was a lot of people it was still decent. Just difficult for someone with anxiety and people lol. I completely recommend the homemade chips with anything you get if you like a kettle type chip with sea salt. Best meal I've had eating out sinti moved back to Maine. Way to go guys.
This is the spot for a classic diner experience. Wait staff was friendly and got our orders in right away. The coffee hit just the right spot and the food, while nothing fancy, was just what we were hoping: good diner fare for a good value. Highly recommended.
Awesome breakfast! The staff was bend-over-backward helpful, our food came quickly and was very good. About a third of the floor space is in an authentic diner car, with rest in an added building along with the kitchen. Try to get seated in the diner car to get the full experience.
We had to wait a longer time than promised to get seated and then also waited on, but they were very apologetic about that- it was a Saturday and they were very busy after all. The food was good!
This is my favorite place to grab breakfast in Portland. It's on the Back Bay, which gives you a little less traffic to contend with and the food is VERY good. I am a particular fan of their scrambles. They generally have a pretty eclectic menu so there should be a little something for just about anyone.
Great vibe with delicious food. Pancakes are incredible.
Great breakfast spot if you have time to kill, tends to be crowded.
Been coming to the MPD for a lot of years!
This place is a must stop for a cool place to have breakfast or lunch...never been for dinner, and not sure they even serve it. It has an old railroad car for the original diner. The seating is at a counter or in really small booths..think late 40’s early 50’s small. They have a more modern style section, that was built on several years ago, that is much larger than the railroad car section with booths as well as table and chairs.
The food is what you'd expect for breakfast and lunch and is priced reasonably. The service is always friendly and quick...been here at least a 100 times and not once been disappointed!
Parking is easy, either out front on the street or in a no cost parking lot right next to the diner. Enjoy!
Miss Portland Diner is a treasure. Lovely, comforting food in a clean, friendly dining car from the 1940's. The waitresses are friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Their Shamrock omelet is delicious - filled with the best homemade hash I've ever tasted. Their malts are rich, thick and wonderful. Sandwiches are hearty and full of good ingredients. This is a town of amazing food. But when we want real old fashioned comfort, Miss Portland has just what we long for!
Great food, great staff! We’re just visiting the area but will def recommend to anyone looking for a great breakfast spot!
I ate there when I was a teenager when
lived in Portland. I enjoyed it then. And I enjoy it now. The food is excellent and the prices are great. At times they are busy and you may have to wait a while to get served however the wait is worth it.
Missing this stop would mean missing out on a great breakfast and something of Portland's history. Usually when I find a breakfast spot I go right for biscuits and gravy, and fortunately enough they had it here! Even better yet it was phenomenal, PLUS they have cold brew... At a diner!! 😮😮😮 …
The hamburger has an amazing flavor and there was more meat than bun. Not a bad price either. The place is small so it gets crowded very quickly.
There is some great food here. They use local produce, groceries, and suppliers and advertise that. I normally don't like corn beef hash as I find most places make it too salty for my taste, but on their menu they said don't miss out on it. I really enjoyed it with my eggs benedict, the home fries tasted really good, and nicely seasoned. I came with a group, and everyone's food was good.
Decent prices, great parking, fun menu. Not quite a "traditional Diner" menu, though the old classics do appear amongst fun surprises. Seating in the older "train car" section is *very* tight for larger folks, and definitely not disabled friendly. Fortunately the newer extension has ample booth and table seating.
Awesome diner, the real deal. Made a stop here on our honeymoon travels through New England. The waitresses were all lovely and friendly, really made you feel at home. The menu is massive (allow plenty of time to make your choices), we had the Reuben classic and buffalo chicken wrap, both amazing serviced with homemade chips and coleslaw. Delicious and great value for money. The diner itself is so cool, and would highly recommend sitting at the counter, always the best way to experience these places!! If you’re heading to Maine, head to Portland, just for this place!
Portions are big, food is tasty and pricey. Wait staff are pleasant and attentive. My waitress was Emily.
Great atmosphere great service, mediocre food
Service was phenomenal. Foodbtasted amazing and social distancing and availability of sanitizer everywhere really made me feel safe. I recommend Miss Portland Diner to anyone looking for a good safe time just dont go when I'm going I dont want to wait
We Google breakfast places in Portland Maine and Miss Portland was first, it was first for a reason, it was so cool, situated in a refurbished train car the food and service was outstanding.corned beef hash was the best I have ever had, it was obviously made from scratch. Everything 👌 …
Quaint diner, french toast was delicious. Son loved his Eggs Benedict and my husband's traditional 2eggs over easy with bacon were inhaled. Lol my son lives in Portland and this is ONLY breakfast place for him.
Clean, pleasant at atmosphere, food is very good including real maple syrup and excellent corned beef hash obviously from scratch. No equal for coffee is only drawback. Definitely will be back.
My breakfast was well cooked. I had the Irish omelet. In the Omelet was hash and cheddar cheese we hash had cabbage carrots and potatoes in it. There was about twice as much food on the plate as any person could probably eat. I took all my leftovers and they were my breakfast the following day. The price was Expensive but if you take your leftovers home they’re not that bad My omelette and coffee were $12 with tax.
The food was good, not great but not bad. The service however was lacking. Waitress was nice enough but never checked in on us or refilled coffee. Took 15 minutes longer than it should have to get our food too. I might come back again to give them a second chance but I'm skeptical given the other more recent reviews....
My first impression was , "Oh, it's so clean!" How refreshing to find a restaurant where even the floor is so noticeably clean. Then comes my order. I normally do not go out for breakfast because I don't like the way it is cooked, or not cooked, these days, however at Miss Portland, without me saying anything beforehand, my toast looked like toast, not warmed bread, and the homefries looked like they should, again, not warmed up potatoes. Needless to say, my breakfast was delicious! My one negative, it's so far from Lewiston!!!
We needed a nice breakfast place to eat, on our way from Massachusetts to Rockland Maine. So glad we found this place and will definitely return. Old time atmosphere with modern additions and upgrades. The food was excellent as was the service. We'll be back for sure.
Nice little place, with a good menu and daily specials. Very busy the day we went and after a 30 minute wait we were seated. The french fries which we did not eat were very greasy, and the ambience was very loud on the day we visited. I would however visit this place again.
The food is fantastic! And prices are reasonable. Service could have been better though; had to wait until our food arrived to get a coffee refill despite the place being mostly empty.
Amazing food and extremely friendly waitstaff. Very comfortable, relaxed environment. I loved everything on my plate. Reasonably priced for the Portland area.
If you get a good server, this place is fantastic, especially for breakfast foods. Took off one star because of surly service the visit two visits ago. Fries are excellent.
Love this place! Great quality food for an amazing price, awesome service. It's your basic diner type food but easily the BEST IN PORTLAND. I'd eat here over Marcy's any day.
Stopped in after a long morning of lighthouse peeping! Great menu, awesome food and service!!!
Old school diner atmosphere!!
Four of ate hearty breakfasts. The corn beef eggs benedict was a great choice. The meat was delicious; I was not impressed by the hollandaise.
Hadn't been here for years. Very good mac and cheese which to me is a sign of a good diner/homestyle restaurant. Service was was good, attentive and pleasant. Very good coffee and dessert would recommend this.
GREAT FOOD! GREAT SERVICE.
We had several items
On the menu and none disappoint!
Fast friendly and reasonable!
Even though it's only available for st Patrick's day, the irish breakfast is outstanding and should be available year round. The beans are interesting but so happy not to have gotten baked beans (or no beans - looking at you Ri Ra) we will be ba k to have it one more time before it is gone.
The staff were very friendly and attentive. The breakfast was nicely prepared and just the right size portions. We will definitely be back.
Great French toast with real maple syrup, actually one of the best breakfast places in the area, we go almost every week. Try the homemade corned beef hash. Wow.
An authentic diner with an addition for more seating. Good dinner food. Breakfast has specials as well as the usual bacon and eggs, but often the flavors just don't pop. The chicken apple sausage is too sweet for my taste. I make better bacon at home. But the choices are numerous (missing the usual huevos rancheros) and you're likely to find something. Parking nearby but if the lot is full there are few other places to put your car.
They were very busy for a Halloween morning. Waitstaff was dressed for the day! Food was excellent. They did accommodate indoor and outdoor seating.
Miss Is portland diner isThe best place to go to get breakfast oh my God it's amazing in the And the service even makes dat much nicer
Our family had 3 different omelettes, and we loved each of them. My Thai Omelette was so good! Definitely recommend this diner.
Great diner experience. Seemed like a good mix of locals and tourists. Was at the counter, and the waitress was great. Corned beef hash was the best I've had.
1st time here, loved it food was amazing, atmosphere is great and our server(Jane) was fantastic. This will become our new "place" keep it local. Thanks Jane for a great visit.
One of my favorite breakfast spots. Service and food are excellent.
This place blew my mind. The food is incredible and the staff laughs at your bad jokes. 10/10 will visit again!
Corned Beef Hash to die for! It was plate licking good. Just think of it as beef stew without the stew. I was told by one of the waitresses that they slow cook their hash for 2 days. Our waitress Suzie was fantastic. A sweetheart of a lady. I ordered the pancakes (which covered the plate), a side of corned beef hash, and a biscuit. Everything was fantastic!
Always great for a decent, reasonably priced breakfast. Nothing fancy, just well made breakfast classics in a cozy diner. No Bintliff's but better than Denny's.
First visit left me looking forward to the next, and the next, and the next... Homemade potato chips were the best chips ever... Loved the uniqueness of the many things offered on their menu... Waitress was very attentive, friendly...
Great food ,nice place
Great Counter Service. Fresh Ground Coffee.
Lots of meal choices, breakfast all day!
Great food, I loved the sweet potato fries! Also very accommodating, we called ahead and they had out door seating ready for my group and my dog, they even had a water dish for my dog!
Gravy and biscuits were cold..but the waiter made up for it. He was helpful, fast and efficient.
Everything was good here the waitress was nice and helpful, the food was good. Healthy portions, stingy on the syrup for the amount of pancakes you get. Overall good experience
This place is a 💎... A true tribute to the American diner... nothing pretentious just good wholesome breakfast at affordable prices …
Great diner serving the classics. Big menu, specials board and wonderful old train car seating. Expect a wait on the weekends for a table.
Great place for upgraded diner food
Pretty good breakfast spot. Small inside so you might wait long. I seem to find that the busier they are the smaller your pancakes will be.
One of the better breakfast spots around, homemade corn beef hash is good, nobody makes better sausage gravy and the omelets are actually filled to the brim with cheese and toppings. Patty is a wonderful efficient server.
Wonderful authentic diner and atmosphere. Yummy food, fun and friendly wait staff. Great way to start your day if you're in Portland, ME!
Best "Steak 'n Eggs" in New England. Laid-back atmosphere, with OLDIES from the late 1950's through the early 1970's. Well worth a 20% gratuity! 👍👍👍👍👍 …
Great food. Packed but moved along quickly with a short wait. If you see a line there's no need to worry
It was typical diner food. I didn't realize I had to pay extra for the fries I got with my hot dog.
Excellent food and service with EXACTLY the diner vibes you're looking for!
Awesome Food and Customer Service!
Good food, good prices. Usually busy. Easy to get an open seat up in the old dining car but there is a constant high pitched whistling noise.
Nice diner with really good food. Huge variety, friendly and helpful staff. We really enjoyed our lunch stop there.
Excellent food and service! Best corned beef!
We loved the ambience and the food was great. It was just a little bit pricey.
Breakfast was amazing. The young woman working the counter was the best! Amazing service. Best french toast I have ever had. Will be back.
It's your die hard diner in a classic Worcester. Have gone there since the 80's when it was across the street.
Went here for breakfast and had the breakfast burrito. It was good. Cute diner. Service was a little slow - I only got one cup of coffee.
The best breakfast I have EVER had, and I'm a fat kid who LOVES breakfast. Staff is great, prices are on point, and the food is out of bounds
Expensive and our waitress wasn't very happy working on the day we were there. She kept walking pass our table and not taking g our dirty dishes even when I put then to the edge for her to take. Poor service
Super clean, friendly staff, incredible prices and value. We were absolutely blown away by this out-of-the-way gem. Forget Denny's, this is where you need to eat breakfast.
I absolutely love this place been going for as long as i can remember. Tried the bacon and blueberry pancakes the other day and now im hooked!! You gotta check them out!
Enjoyed my brunch with my toddler, bellied up to the bar. We both enjoyed our meal, she wanted breakfast and I had lunch, we both walked away satisfied and enjoyed the service!
Outstanding service and the food was great! The hostess even took the time to tell us about the history of diner. I’ll definitely return!
Great food and prices... wait service was slower than needs be. We waited 15 minutes for our check. She thought she'd given it to us. Seriously?
Stumbled across this diner on a walk with my dad and sister! Great find! Super friendly staff and amazing breakfast.
We went right at lunch rush. We got prompt service and the food was great. We had everything from breakfast burritos, salad, burger to baked mac and cheese.
Cute little diner with a boxcar attached. The food was your typical diner food but it was tasty. Staff was nice. Generally clean. We'd go back.
Great family style dining food is consistently good staff is very friendly I love eating here, best popeye in town.
This is a marvelous place. The servers were kind, interesting, and efficient. The food was delicious. Even the toast was extra tasty. This is a modest gem.
I'm a sucker for old time diners and this one caught my eye. Can't say enough good things about this place and its people. They do diner food and local specialties and the do them right. Keep up the great work
I have had nothing but great experiences at Miss Portland Diner! Great food and great service. I eat here probably a few times a month and it's great to try their rotating specials. Friendly staff and great food!
excellent corned beef hash and incredible house-made english muffins in a classic 1940s diner. could not be better.
Was very busy and small. My son and I stood waiting for 10 minutes and no one greeted us or told us there would be a wait so we left.
Great breakfast. Good spot for lunch as well. One of the best spots around
Food is great, and the diner embodies a simpler era. It was crowded and noisy when we were there (for lunch), but as someone who was waiting as we were said, "that's a good sign", and I agreed.
Great hash!! The beans dish was also amazing. The potatoes are well seasoned and the restaurant has so many great choices.
As has been for the many years good food, very reasonable prices and a little nostalgia thrown in
Apparently featured on Lists but honestly was a solid meh. Iced Coffee was tangy and bitter. Service was inattentive. Corned beef hash was just ok. Ditto eggs and omelettes.
Great food, great service, cool historic dining car. 4 stars is because of the high pitched squealing toaster noise that ruins the ambience.
Love that place. Server was slow to bring coffee and get order., but food waa awesome.
They are well known for their fantastic breakfasts. Good portions and great service
The diner was great. I thought it was a little pricy at first till I got my order and seen how big it was, I almost couldn't eat it all.
A classic diner in every sense. I highly recommend the Breakfast Burrito. However if you find yourself hungry on a Sunday, look elsewhere. This place is insanely busy on the weekends.
The staff is terrific and the food is great. It is diner food, so don't expect filet mignon and white tablecloths, but do expect the food to be prepared carefully with great ingredients and often with imagination.
Standard diner fare in a charming classic car. I had the loaded home fries which was waaaay too much food for me, but tastey none the less. Also - EXCELLENT bloody marys!
Best corned beef hash I've found in Portland so far! Eggs cooked perfectly and amazing service from our waitress.
Excellent diner. Clean, bright and comfortable. Serves breakfast all day. Easy parking in downtown Portland.
Great food. Corn beef hash was heavenly! Definitely would go again!!
Great lo-key breakfast place with options for everyone. I had the corn beef and eggs and my kids had pancakes. Friendly staff and onsite parking.
A little bit of a wait, they were quite busy, but great food and a friendly staff! I would definitely eat here again if I'm ever back in Maine.
Great box car style diner. One of Portland's historic restaurants. A must visit for tourists and a great "regular place" for locals.
Amazing eggs benedict with delicious home-made cornbeef hash, topped with their marvelous hollandaise sauce. Ask to be seated in the original diner section.
I wish I could give it a ten!! They are fantastic hosts, the food was amazing, and there train car seating was so nostalgic!! We go back everyday if we could.
Great food and setting. The pancakes have been a little disappointing, but this is more than made up for by the home fries, sausage and wraps.
Excellent food the old diner car is nice still quite original.great service $$ on price but good portions.been going there for decades
Went there to eat a late breakfast on a Saturday it was very delicious. Great experience.
Very cute little diner. I loved that part of it was new and part of it was older and historic. The waitress was nice helpful and knowledgeable about the history of the diner itself.
Family-friendly diner. The staff is kind and responsive, and they have games for kids to play while you wait for your meal. Try the corned beef hash!
Go-to diner in Portland. Clean, reasonable prices and portions. Great typical diner-style American breakfast. Lunch and dinner are good too.
Went here with the hubby for the first time, today, even though we've lived in Portland for a year, now- we were not disappointed! Food was excellent, prices were great and service was on point.
If you're in town for breakfast you need to stop here. It's a wonderful experience.
Wonderful wait staff. Great dining experience. Food was like home made. REAL Maple syrup.
So yummy and friendly staff. Special was delicious and the seasonal offerings were on point! Loved it!!
Breakfast all day! Good food good portions and they are quick$
A great place for breakfast. Solid diner food and not exorbitant. A great retro feel if you sit in the old section. Sit at the bar and you'll feel like you are in a movie.
Love this little diner. The food is excellent and the service is always great - the staff here is commendable.
The food was excellent in the service was great. I will definitely visit again the next time I'm in Portland.
Fantastic service and delicious food
Great place to eat. Had a wonderful time with my friends and the omelette was excellent. I am going to return!!!
Excellent, fresh ingredients made into delicious food! Great service as well.
Classic diner. Especially if you sit at the counter in the wonderfully restored diner car. Definitely try the sausage gravy biscuit and the hash browns.
The lobster Benedict (which was a special) was so amazing. Pancakes were huge and delicious. The service was impeccable!
This place is so good! The pancakes were very delicious! Fast service and great food good prices
Very nice place great food and service it's very clean and the staff are all great!
Great staff, classic diner food and excellent outdoor seating situation with tent and heaters!
loved the ambiance and friendliness of the waitress.
Excellent! The Eggs Benedict are delicious, and the staff are always extremely friendly.
**Outdoor dining during COVID pandemic
Food
*Shamrock omlet (corned beef hash, grilled onions, swiss) with home fries & English muffin - good
Delicious fresh food, prompt friendly service, but a tad pricey? Not horrible. Would go again.
Really enjoyed breakfast at the bar in the old diner. The corned beef has was outstanding. Great place to dine solo.
Cool old diner and very busy on a Sunday morning. However slow service, very weak coffee, and uncooked pancakes in the middle lost them a couple stars.
Food is decent, wait times can be a bit much.
Standard comfort fare, slightly pricey and nothing stands out for
Locals diner and food is very good.Whats not to love? Friendly and attentive server and easy on the eyes too.
When mistakes are made, the Diner makes sure the mistake is fixed. Food, parking, feel, typical of most establishments in Portland, Maine.
Food was good, our server was slow, we sat for 20 min before we placed our order, people sat after us and ate and left before us
Great food nice helpings at reasonable prices
Awesome turkey dinner
Loved the sweet potatoes fries
Good food, clean, bright and comfortable. Service not the fastest but not overly slow. Friendly, would definately go again.
So much good food. Always busy. Gives back to local community. Servers are pleasant.
we enjoyed breakfast here. great service and excellent food
Really nice vintage diner with additional dining room to accommodate a large crowd.Food and service were good and prices were reasonable.
Perfect portions, perfect food temp and perfect flavor, as always. Great service.
Great place to grab food before, hitting the Grocery shopping. Lots of variety, for any time of day.
Great breakfast!!
The best food and service in town! Awesome local ingredients; try an omelette, very tasty!
A unique and economical place for lunch! The burgers and fries were perfect! Great service.
So much fun! Great food, good prices and their mugs are awesome! We bought a bunch for gifts!
Loved it! GREAT atmosphere and food!
It was delicious. If you're tall, avoid the bar (I'm 6'-2" and I almost couldn't sit at the bar).
Really enjoyed the renovated authentic dining car with excellent food and service. Prices were very reasonable.
Great food and great service! Loved outdoor seating
The boothes, in the train car were tight. Thankfully, they were kind and offered a chair.
Our breakfast was delicious! Thank you!
Relaxing atmosphere. Food was great! Enjoy!
Always a good meal in a classic setting, and a bonus is the large parking lot next door!
Food is great. Service extremely slow. Good place if you have a lot of time
Always a treat to eat at the diner and the food is delicious!
Yum yum yum! Food was delicious! Service was great! We will be back again!!
Great atmosphere, great service, incredible food! Loved this place!
Friendly staff food was delicious they'll have only been there once but I would do lunch there again
Food was good, but the service was not. Been there several times but today at lunch they needed more help.
Solid. Good food but not fantastic. Good service. All around decent. I will come back.
A hot dog, w potato chips, tap water is too expensive. I like the vibe, wait staffer's are a friendly group!
Great breakfast! Good sized portions and they have local beer as well.
The food is delish and the staff are very nice. There is outside seating as well.
No fuss, what you see is what you get classic diner. It’s there for you when you need it, and i always need eggs. Wish I lived nearby so I can become a regular.
Awesome diner with good prices. Anytime I'm in the area i believe this is where i will be going for breakfast and must try for lunch.
Food is awesome, it's a local establishment and they observe covid-19 safety protocols
What a great place! Awesome food, awesome staff. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
Great service, yummy food, they offer inside and outside seating. Great service!
I had the best biscuits and gravy of my life! Everyone in the group had great food.
Never had a bad experience here, though be prepared for a very long wait for brunch on weekends so go early or go later.
Great meal affordable prices and took health issues seriously in covid time. Would go back!
This place was great! Very much comfort dinner food. Loved it and will go back!!
Excellent food at a reasonable price breakfast is a combination of old and new foods with variations on classics like eggs Benedict or steak and eggs
Baked goods were great, service was great but the food lacked.
Perfect breakfast spot with consistently great food and stellar service, even when they're busy.
Was busy and close to closing but they got us in and made us fantastic food. Great service and atmosphere.
Great food and the upstairs reminds me of my favorite diner growing up. They also make a hell of a Bloody Mary.
First time I have been there for breakfast and the food was excellent!
Beat customer service I have ever had. Unfortunately the French toast was soggy and the food was pretty terrible, I would reccomend trying, maybe others would have a better tasting experience.
This place is awesome! Delicious food, great coffee and amazing corn beef hash!
Delicious asparagus omlet!! Homemade chips were crisp and tasty.
Eaten here several times, always great food and service.
