Reviews of Hot Suppa

Great spot for brunch or lunch. We arrived at 1pm on Saturday and were quickly seated. Funky and cool decor. Great food and very friendly service. I had the fried green tomato BLT and a side of grits👍 my wife had a mock Bloody Mary and the Cuban Pork sandwich. Both were yummy. Lots of other choices on the menu. We look forward to going back again soon. Don’t miss this sweet spot

We were a group of 4 adults and ordered 4 different menu - and we left nothing! The portion was great and so was the taste. Egg Benedict with pulled pork is our favorite followed by Eggnog french toast! My friends got Bloody Mary and they loved it. We were super happy that we could make it during our short trip! I recommend going there with friends and families, order various menu, and share all the good food! This place is now marked on my google map so that I can revisit next time. Thank you so much for a wonderful food and service!

Now this is what you call a breakfast experience! Great location and atmosphere. Nice group of people there. The staff was kind and welcoming. Waitress was attentive and the food was brought out fast and hot and presented well and best of all delicious!
I don’t like grits but they made delicious shrimp and grits! Trust me try it! The flavors are perfect and it did not feel like I was eating grits just a delicious dish with shrimp, bacon, mushrooms and so much more! We also ordered the French toast x2 orders because we ate the first 2 so fast!! And we also ordered the scrambalaya with hash browns. Everything was cooked perfectly and we left full! We can’t wait to return again! Keep up the great work Hot Suppa!

Its a great place for brunch. Small menu but does have enough options for everyone, vegetarians included.
Please make a note that it has a long waiting and no reservations options, so be prepared for that. We had to wait for 1 hour to get the seats.
Food is great. Staff is very warm as well.
I had corn beef and felt it was very well made. Hot chocolate was ok, it wasn't best but no complaints there as well.
Definitely recommend my friends to try this one. There were many choices which i would like to try myself next time.

Such an amazing brunch- best corned beef hash of my life, and love that I could upgrade from regular toast to a biscuit that came with two jams and butter! Ended up using the blackberry jam on the side waffle I got and it was spectacular!

Must amazing breakfast/brunch ever! We live in NY &b look forward to coming here every time. Everything is delicious & fresh. Totally obsessed with the mushroom scramble and all the Benedicts are amazing! The biscuits and sausage gravy our stuffed dreams are made of.

We were in Portland for a few days and found this gem of a spot for breakfast. Had chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy. Both were excellent. Food exceeded expectations and servers were so nice. If you are in the area this place is a must.

We loved a southern style brunch! The hollandaise on my Eggs Benedict was so good, I had a taste of the Shrimp and Grits, so tasty too. We sat in the outdoor patio and it really felt like an extension of the restaurant. Thanks to our sweet server, Sarah - she made a busy Saturday look like a breeze.

Cute breakfast place in Portland. The staff is amazing ! Heather was our sever and we were seated at the bar. She engaged in great conversations with us. The wait is long. We waited for 30 mins for table for 2. But it’s worth the wait. I ordered eggs Benedict and loved it. Polenta as a side did good justice. They have specials on the board which change regularly. Must try the Bloody Mary! It’s spicy and yummy.
Street parking is limited. Drive around the block on the right for metered parking.

From Eggs Benedict with BBQ pulled pork, scallions, & buttered grits to Bacon Cheeseburgers with Pepper jack cheese and caramelized onions; Hot Suppa got it all.
This is one of my absolute favorite spots to grab breakfast in Portland. Everything is always fresh, the staff is always friendly, the vibe is warm, and the prices are correct.
Highly recommended.

I really cannot recommend Hot Suppa enough.
We were in Portland for the weekend and this was on my list of places to check out. My partner and I moved up here from Atlanta about a year prior and we really missed some southern comforts. This scratched the itch and then some.
We arrived about 9:00 on a Saturday morning in February and there was still about an hour wait. No biggie. It's how it goes and everything was well worth the wait.
My partner had the Nashville hot chicken eggs benedict and I had the corned beef hash. The hash was absolutely the best corned beef hash I've ever had. They fried it hard on one side so it was super crispy. The inside was cooked perfectly and the flavor was right on. It was moist, crispy exterior, perfectly seasoned, and hearty. Everything I could have wanted. The scrambled eggs were also the best scrambled eggs I'd had in a restaurant. Absolutely perfectly cooked. The hash browns were excellent as well. Fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside.
The hot chicken was probably one of the best things I've ever eaten. The flavors were so complex, amazing textures, a perfect amount of spice and the biscuits were out of this world. Mine was good but hers was just out of this world.
I also want to throw a shout-out to Heather for being such an amazing server. She was so attentive, never let our coffee or water get empty, and was just an absolute ray of sunshine. She made the whole experience just all the better.
We'd go back here in a heartbeat. One of the best meals we've had in a long time and without a doubt the best breakfast we've had in recent memory.

This place is absolutely worth the caloric intake. I sat at the bar for brunch. Place was packed. The inside seemed New Orleans/southern inspired. The bartender was friendly and accomodating. The rest of the staff seemed very pleasant too. They gave me some background history about the restaurant which was pretty cool. Had a good sense of humor, too! I could literally feel my waist size expanding while reading some of the menu items. I ordered the "Mother Clucker". Gravy was thick and flavorful. The buttermilk biscuit was a nice addition, adding more texture to the dish. Chicken was crispy and juicy. The cheese pull from the cheese curds slapped a smile on my foodie face. I loved that. Hash Browns were crispy and well prepared. The portion for the Mother Clucker was huge. I did experience "THE BRUNCH SWEAT" while eating. LOL. I have no idea why it took me so long to go here. Thank you for a great brunch experience!! I'm already planning to try out the takeout menu with some coworkers!

This was an EXPERIENCE! MY god, it's a shame that this place isn't in the news somewhere for having an amazing breakfast. I has the pulled port eggs benedict with a side of hashbrowns and a cup of coffee (naturally) and i was taken aback by how great everything was. The coffee was fresh, the food was INCREDIBLE, the service was fast and the staff was friendly and welcoming. This experience makes me want to return again tomorrow for another dish. I highly recommend that anyone within a driving distance of Portland comes here with haste. If it wasn't for the fact that I was hungry, I might have not eaten the dish, as to not mess up how it was plated and presented. It was worth every dollar and I'm surprised that they are not charging more!

10/10 recommend! Came in for brunch and ordered the mother clucker. Wicked good fried chicken. Biscuits and gravy were top notch. So much food and reasonable prices. We went on a Wednesday and waited 25min but I hear it gets even busier…Worth the wait for sure.

So we lucked out on a Friday morning with a spot right in front! We were told 20 minutes but it was less than 10 minutes for 4 of us. I ordered the corn beef hash and it was soo good! I also ordered an iced coffee with vanilla and again it was really good! It only needed cream. Two others in our party ordered the chicken and waffles and were really disappointed though that’s why I give 4 stars. The menu says chicken breast but it’s definitely thigh; dark meat with hard fat maybe overcooked a little cause it was tough. One of them loves dark meat and was still disappointed and didn’t eat much of it. Service was great and it’s a cute place! I guess just don’t order the chin and waffles?
morgan higginbotham
Great, quick & friendly service. Delicious spicy Bloody Mary. I got the lobster Benedict & it was outstanding. I got chicken & waffles to go. Small space but big taste.
David Borgert
So the last time I had (delicious) corn beef hash was at Baltazar NYC . I have had it once again! The other dish was a special , Mexican street corn hash, very fresh and bright summery. Super friendly staff. Worth the wait
Stephanie Griffith
I decided to have brunch here on a Sunday after receiving several recommendations from Portland locals. The wait for two at 11am was about an hour, but it was very well worth it! I ordered the Cajun Bloody Mary, my first ever, and the Local Mushroom Scramble. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the bloody mary! It had a bit of a spicy kick to it but not overwhelmingly so, and it was full of flavor. The mushroom scramble was heavenly! Everything came out hot. The eggs were so soft and melted in my mouth, the mushrooms were cooked perfectly, the sourdough toast was crispy & buttery, and the side of baby kale was delicious - I LOVED the citrusy dressing on these greens! I’m craving them as I write this. I love greens, but even the pickiest eater would enjoy this kale. I also ordered one more drink after finishing my meal - the Seasonal Mimosa (because, brunch). It had a nice refreshing balance of fall spices and was the perfect end to my meal. Our server was really friendly and gave great recommendations. I will definitely return next time I’m in Portland!
Reese Hansen
Fantastic brunch spot. I wish I lived nearby and could go here every weekend! They don't take reservations, but have a waiting list system, if you aren't there or your whole party isn't there when your name is called, they take next party on the list. They have a small enclosed outdoor seating behind the main restaurant.
Server was helpful w/ suggestions, and food came out quick. Fried green tomato Benedict and the mother Clucker were so so good.
Shanah Bell
We were sent to check this place out by one of the employees at our hotel. And we were certainly not disappointed!
My spouse is from Louisiana, so he's usually very picky about Cajun food. He was exceptionally pleased with his Shrimp and Grits and Bloody Mary.
I got the Mushroom Scramble with Grits and Gluten Free Cornbread. The eggs were a bit too salty for me (I didn't realize the Miso in this particular dish would be this much of an issue), so the server brought me a new side of scrambled eggs to put the mushroom medley on. That was much better for me and I was really happy she suggested the change.
I paired my brunch with an Oatmilk Latte, which was spot on. Overall, great atmosphere, service, food and pricing!
David Rea
Food is good, but a bit off the mark for true southern comfort food. Lobster eggs Benedict was a standout. French toast was good, but oddly you pay extra for maple syrup. Hash browns a bit bland. Maple lemonade tasted like country time powder and was missing the maple.
Worth going to if you get there early, but a line forms within 30 minutes of opening. Would not say it's worth waiting a long time for.
Ethan Guertin
This place is great. We waited forty five minutes and it was definitely worth it.
I started with a special mimosa and got the corned beef hash with the grits. Overall, I'd say this is probably one of the best breakfasts I've ever had.
Tanya Perugini
Great breakfast !
The biscuits and gravy were delicious as well as the egg scramble !
Kids loved the French toast and waffles.
Get there early - long wait time for food !
Martha Schick
The food and service were so great! Unlike most brunch places, they had reasonable portions. Definitely in our Portland rotation!
JD West
This place was a real treat! The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. A great experience for all. 10/10 if I'm ever in main I'll eat here again!
Steve Wood
Top notch Breakfast! Best Waffle I've ever had. Sweet girl named Sarah served me at the little bar. She was kind, cute and efficient. I recommend. PS, try some Cheese Grits.
Amber Moreland
Awesome place! Great food, friendly service and delicious mocha latte! I had the mother clucker and my husband had the summer scramble… both were fabulous!
Erik Parena
OMG this is an amazing place! Worth the wait. Luckily there are benches right outside while we supper their coffee.
Everything we ordered was DELICIOUS.
And the staff was super friendly!
Erica Smith
This may have been the best brunch I've ever had! Ordered three entrees to share- the shrimp and grits, a delicious scramble and the chicken and waffles. They were all wonderful! There is a covered patio which is nice. We had great service. Would definitely return!
LaRene Wentworth
Hot Suppa! My favorite breakfast place. Best Bloody Mary in town if you like it spicy 🔥 My go to is the fried green tomato eggs Bennie with hash browns. Super delicious 😋
L A
Amazing food! We tried two of their egg dishes and both were great! The grits with cheese, the spicy chicken sausage, the sourdough toast and mushrooms were a great way to start the day. Even our 2-year-old couldn’t get enough. Portion size is good, felt good after eating.
Larry Jolliffe Sr
Small, elbow to elbow seating. Always a wait...but well worth it.
Reasonable pricing for hand made plates, with friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Food was excellent!!
Amani Obaid
Absolutely delicious and worth the wait! Our favorite food we had in providence!
PKMD Adventure
While you will certainly have a wait, it will be worth every moment. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious, and the drinks were on point. Honestly, the bloody mary could be one of the best we've had! We would highly recommend the pecan smoked bacon. I dipped mine in the left over maple syrup - heaven! This is a must stop if you're in the area. Thanks to the staff for such a great brunch!
kels bookof
Walking in, the ambiance was close and cheery. The seating is very tight.
Once greeted we ordered a number of dishes at the lunch hour, which were served quickly and not in any particular order. Service comes as each dish is prepared, you see, so if an item is ordered which takes some time in its construction, you'll not be waiting on it for your meal! We shared the dishes, family style, and enjoyed every last bite!
Megan M
O.M.G. so worth the wait. There will be a line and they don't take reservations so be prepared to wait 60 to 90 minutes. The food is so good. Best breakfast we've had out....ever. Shrimp and grits was flavorful and perfect with he added biscuit the waitress recommended. The Georgia Peach cocktail was delicious and refreshing. Everyone at our table was over the moon about their selections.
Amara Miller
They’re very busy even for a weekday morning, although they told us it would be a 30 min wait and it was only 15 which was nice. I had the Apple cider mimosa and fall special sandwich, both of which were delicious. The prices were a bit high in my opinion, I wouldn’t go back and pay $17 for a sandwich, but I did enjoy trying it.
Brian Figueroa
Definitely a must visit if you're in Portland and are looking for a nice quiet/cozy place for breakfast or brunch. Recommend getting the Waffle & Blueberry Compote and the Grandy Oats Organic Granola. Adding Maine's maple syrup is a must as well.
Matthew Strickland
We got here right when they opened (8:00AM), as I figured it would fill up fast, and it sure did! Being from the south, I always seek out southern inspired comfort food/cuisine, and this place does a good job! The mother clucker was one heck of a meal, loved the fried green tomatoes and the biscuits and sausage gravy! Reminded me of the biscuits and gravy my grandmother makes. Also, the grits weren't super greasy in the shrimp and grits, a huge plus in my book! My wife's Thanksgiving benedict was very interesting and delicious as well! If you're looking for a good southern comfort place, Hot Suppa is a great place to check out!
Steven Heckmann
Phenomenal food and service. We walked about 35 minutes from our hotel to get there and it was worth every uphill step. Even during the middle of the week, in the limbo timeframe between breakfast and lunch, we were still told a two hour wait. But we were seated within 30 minutes.
The staff was incredibly nice. I ordered the sausage gravy over biscuits and it was delicious. Perfect amount of sausage, perfect gravy consistency, perfectly baked biscuits, perfectly cooked over easy eggs, and perfectly crisped and seasoned has browns. Perfect. Also not to be overlooked, I drank my usual black coffee and it was very good. Not your typical mediocre breakfast place coffee.
Highly recommend.
G. Tony Bell
Excellent service and delicious meal! Very warm, welcoming, and attentive staff. Had the French Toast plate with a side of grits. De-lish! Especially the French Toast. Don’t pass this place by if you come to Portland.
Phillip Pane
Friendly, delicious, reasonably priced. Seated quickly. Chicken and waffles were splendid. Bloody Mary hit the spot. Hot cocoa reminded me of things wink 😉 …
Nick Elliott
Got the French toast and it was delicious for sure. Very small so the wait can be pretty long. We got sat outside where they have heaters for the cooler weather.
Steven Kwon
Amazing breakfast. Staff was very welcoming and attentive. We had ordered the Scrambalaya with hash browns and The Mother Clucker. Both items were cooked perfectly and just absolutely delicious. The cheese curds in the Mother Clucker was also a nice touch. I'd definitely go back if I was in the area.
Heidi Nottonson
A favorite for breakfast. Delicious menu selections. There is always something fabulous on the specials board. Large portions, worth the wait and a great place to take a friend. Dinner is good, too.
Taylor Michele
Absolutely divine food! We went around noon on a Sunday. It’s a smaller establishment where you may have to wait for a table, but it’s definitely worth it. We had a group of five and we got the biscuits and gravy, the Mother Clucker, the pulled pork sandwich and some adult beverages. Everything was absolutely delicious! I’d highly recommend The Mother Clucker and the Rumchata Chai Latte.
Meena Y
This restaurant comes highly recommended on a bunch of food blogs so I had to visit when I came to Portland. It was not a disappointment at all! The servers were all extremely helpful and the food was - WOW - worth every penny. The Corned Beef Hash was the best I've ever had this far up the northeast and the Eggs Benedict were cooked to perfection. My party was upset about the wait (my advice: Get there early) but they were more than satisfied by the end of our meal. It was worth the wait!
Ryan Gay
Food and service were fantastic. Biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles, omelette, French toast, all clean plates. 4/5 for seating outside. I'm sure inside would have been 5.
Branden Keller
One of my favorite places period to eat breakfast. Everything there is top notch. Decent sized portions and everything is fresh, delicious and made in house. Even their coffee is great. Parking can be a bit of an issue but it's not terrible like other places in the area. My favorites are the eggs benedict work fried green tomatoes and anything with their fried chicken. Do yourself a favor and give them a try.
Madeline Seto
Excellent service and food! Very happy and satisfied that we went here. Our server was super nice and great. We were seated outside which was nice - much quieter than inside. We did have to wait to be seated but we were able to put our name down and then come back around the quoted time estimate.
We came here for brunch and everything was delicious. Two drinks were ordered: the Maine maple latte, and the Maine maple sweet tea - both very good. Not too sweet.
For food, we ordered the corned beef, the waffle plate, the fried tomato eggs benedict, and the omelette special (trumpet and oyster mushrooms, caramelized onions). Everything was so good! We all really enjoyed our food and nothing was under or overseasoned. Delicious!! Certainly worth a visit and worth the wait.
Nadya Rojas
Delicious food every time I go. Highly recommend you come here. However be ready to wait an hour before getting seated or come early.
Rick Knowles
Getting takeout from Hot Suppa was quick and easy. We got 3 phenomenal breakfasts! Part of my order was the egg and corned beef on rye. Real corned beef and the egg was excellent. The 2nd part was grits, egg, and biscuits. The grits at Hot Suppa are the definition of southern grits! The biscuits were perfect. Tasty scrambled egg.
One of my group got the waffle and blueberry with cream and said that it was so good it was like dessert!
Anthony Silva
Great and delicious food with nice specials to chose from. Wonderful service
Aaron Cranford
I stopped here on my way to Acadia and and back home from Acadia. It was very busy both times but parking was easy and I was seated quickly both times as I was by myself. The staff is very friendly and their motto is “Be Nice or Leave”. The first visit I had a Cuban, French toast, and a couple Bloody Mary’s. It was all delicious and it may be the best French toast I’ve ever had. The Cuban was also very tasty. The Bloody Mary is quite spicy but very good. I usually don’t like any bars/restaurants bloody Mary’s but this was a rare exception. My second visit it was just more French toast and bloodies. This place is a must if you like any of the items I mentioned. Just reserve a table if it’s more than yourself as this place gets busy quick and doesn’t have a lot of space.
Katherine Trevisan
When going here please keep in mind there will be a wait! Besides that the food is delicious and comforting. The presentation is very unique, staff is very friendly and once inside the food comes in a timely manner.
Vinh D
Finally had the chance to stop by and loved the food. We had the Mother Clucker, Eggs Benedict, and Corn Beef Hash. Will definitely visit again.
Ryan Farabee
Had a fntastic breakfast here! The salmon eggs Benedict was delicious, their coffee was very good, and service was fast and friendly. Would definitely recommend for some nice southern-inspired breakfast/brunch eats.
F. Valle
Come in for brunch on a Friday around 10am. I was surprised that a wait on a weekday. We waited about 20 mins and got to sit on the outside area. I was happy that we got to sit there since we pick this place because we saw they had a patio online. But I was disappointed to see how dark and closed it was.
The food was really good. I got the Eggs Benedict with the fried green tomatoes and a side of hashbrowns. They have great vegetarians options.
I definitely plan to go back, especially to try the impossible burger on their lunch menu, but not on a nice day when I am hoping to enjoy the outside.
Taylar Haney
First time here. Food was awesome.
Shravan Sivakumar
A Great place! This southern styled bar just does not disappoint with a wide selection of all-day eats! Looked like they have a great brunch menu but I came here for a diner. The oysters were really tasty. I had what I must say is some of the best poutine's I've had here! Best outside Canada imo. Ask for it (not sure I saw it on the menu).
Yun Fei Sng
A deliciously done brunch. There was a good amount of fat in our meats to soak up the alcohol from the night before, but none of it tasted greasy. Take my weekend money.
1. Pork Belly Eggs Benedict (pork belly, braised escarole, garlic, poached eggs, hollandaise, English muffin, hashbrowns, scallion)
2. Kielbasa Hash (potato, onion, butternut squash, leek, garlic, gold beet, purple kale, brussels sprouts, two eggs, toast)
3. A side of Corned Beef Hash
Ariel López
The ambience was warm and inviting. Our server, Nikki was attentive and friendly. Lastly, the food was fresh, unique and quite delicious.
I am definitely returning.
Peter L.
Best chicken and waffles I've ever had. Crispy boneless dark meat chicken and crispy waffle. It gets crowded due to popularity.
Rebecca Burlem
Best breakfast I've ever had! And the bloody Mary's are very spicy and oh so good! You can ask them to tone it down a bit if you want. Nice atmosphere and really nice staff!
Brad Klein
Fun atmosphere. Waffles are good, yes corn beef hash is tasty (and I'm no hash connoisseur) Fried Green Tomato Benedict was ok (not a huge tomato fan). Cheesy tots were fun but unnecessary probably. Would come back next time in Portland to try other things
John Johnson
Very popular place so expect a wait but worth it. Every dish was prepared perfectly. We Rarely offer five stars anywhere but these folks have it all except for the wait to get in. We highly recommend this place.
Cassidy Acuff Williams
This place is not to be missed. The grits were absolutely fantastic! Try the corned beef hash. There is so much of it, you could share with two people but the flavor is unreal. The server was great she ordered a fried green tomato and Canadian bacon, one of each, for my eggs Benedict. I am so glad bc the tomato was unreal good. Hot and fresh and just perfect. Amazing food. Small place with really neat artwork
Tom MacNabb
They hooked me with oysters during happy hour, fantastic with fresh grated horse radish in the accompanying cocktail sauce. Next a cornmeal coated catfish on a bed of jambalaya then smothered in a creamy tomato sauce. I probably could have stopped, but why? The bread pudding was creamy and crisp with Carmel notes.
Andrew Elegante
Favorite breakfast place in Portland! Not many places in the city serve "brunch" quality food for breakfast and hot suppa does it best. Creative specials daily plus a very solid and varied all the time menu. Coffee is good, prices are reasonable. If the have the smoked green tomato Benedict on I highly recommend you get it. It's amazing. Whatever you choose, make sure to get the grits. They are excellent
Rachel DiGioia
SUPER awesome place. Very small, but so much character! We went at 8AM on a Saturday and were seated right away. I heard if you go later there is always a long line. We started with the pecan waffle. OMG so tasty! My boyfriend and I both got omelets, which they were happy to do with egg whites. I got baby kale on the side instead of potatoes. My boyfriend got the potatoes and they were SO good! Will definitely be back :)
Rebecca J
Great breakfast! Long lines already at 8am, but worth it. Everything our group ordered was delicious. We cleaned our plates. The waiter was super friendly and struck up conversations about the book my friend had at the table, my other friend's minor league baseball hat, the trip he heard us mention we were on, etc. Not too expensive for a lobster dish, either, and the drinks were very reasonably priced. Lots of hot sauce options.
sloburnjo
Quaint Quality diner. The Best of staff onna Monday. Enjoyed a traditional brunch : 2 eggs over, hash browns, corned beef hash anda sourdough toast. Eclectic decor and menu. Local storyteller dude who sat for a coffee was a blast! Will be my go to. Thanks guys.
Vetty TV
Finally got to dine here. Worth the wait!
The wild mushroom omelet was to die for.
Excellent, friendly service at the counter. ♥️
Jenn S
We heard they had great bloody marys which they do. Was not disappointed. We also had a coffee martini and the tomato soup and grilled cheese. The tomatoe soup was so creamy rich and delish. The grilled cheese melting and i could eat 4 of them. Its a very cool laid back spot. Our waiter was awesome even gave a few recommendations for other stops of the day
Valarie Louis
Great spot for breakfast/lunch and morning cocktails! Space is definitely an issue here, it gets busy fast so expect a wait during peak time. But people rotate through quick enough. A bit pricey for breakfast but at least they give you large meal portions.
Erika Betts
Delicious food, friendly service, vibrant artwork, and a cozy, comfortable atmosphere. Great spot for brunch!
Christopher Regets
This place was really good. Not cheap, but neither is the quality. Seriously enjoyed the Mother Clucker, and the corned beef hash was awesome as well.
Angie Ang
My sister and I stopped in for dinner... it was almost closing time and we were welcomed in even with only 20 minutes left.
Although they were out of the fried buttermilk chicken, we were able to find something on the menu that we liked.
My sister had an order of the wings with special sauce, and the bowl of mac n cheese, which she RAVED about.
I ordered the "Hot Cat" which was the fried catfish in geechie boy grits with shrimp and peppers... it was sooooo good! And although I tried, I couldn't finish it all... about 6 bites left in the bowl and I was STUFFED!
It's a small place, but the atmosphere is cool, nice pictures on the walls and our waitress was the sweetest.
If I weren't flying back to DC I would eat here again.
Jade A.
A bit of a wait to get in but overall great spot! Our waitress was also very friendly.
Alexandra Tuccy
This is my husbands go to breakfast spot in Portland. This review is for a solo breakfast I had, I’m 8 months pregnant and had a rare morning to myself. They graciously gave me a private corner and everyone was so kind and friendly. I had the absolute best waffle I’ve ever had. Full stop. Get the waffle with real Maine maple syrup. Can’t wait to go back for more.
Maranda Nielson
Cute resteraunt with really good breakfast! It got busy really fast and there is limited seating. I was impressed with how fast our service was. We got their special, Chicken and Waffles, and an egg scramble. Both were delicious! Their hash browns were a little bland, but they have a wide variety of hot sauces. Hope to come back soon!
Stephanie Saunders
Shrimp and grits were outstanding. Make this a must donif youre in Portland, ME
Douglas Dunn
Near Perfection. The scrambled eggs were soft, fluffy and creamy. The cheesy grits were the best I've ever had. The pecan smoked bacon was fantastic. The sausage gravy and biscuits could have used a little more seasoning.
Paul Vargas
Worth the possible heart attack! It isn't true southern food, it's more light and fluffy fried chicken and the waffles are more flat, but the syrup......OH THE SYRIP!!!! I COULD BATHE IN IT! If you want biscuits and gravy, just get the mother clucker. If you want waffles, get chicken and waffles. Trust me it's worth it! Also they had banana bread (pictured) which was a special. Get that but as a dessert!!!
There is also nothing wrong with a stein full of a delicious espresso beverage
PATIENCE WILCOX
One of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time. The waffle is not your traditional big fluffy Belgian guy. They are on the thinner side, but don't think that diminishes their quality. They are perfectly crispy with a softer center. The sausage was delicious, eggs to die for (and I do not say that lightly). I remember sitting there and eating them and thinking... WHAT IS IN THESE EGGS. I also had a nitro brew irish coffee and that was excellent. The atmosphere is cosy, quiet. The owner apparently has a thing for that down home Louisianan style and it is well received.
Emily Pelletier
Our waitress was great, food was good. The only thing was two out of the three hash browns ordered were undercooked.
Cheryl B.
Delicious freshly prepared food, the Bloody Mary was very spicy but good, the chowder was delicious as was the grilled cheese sandwich and the corned beef hash.

Delicious food, lots of choices, friendly waitstaff.
Ayla Walker
The ingredients seemed high quality but were not fresh. The meal tasted like it was cooked in a dirty kitchen. My Bloody Mary was made well, and the bartender that waited on me so very friendly and accommodating. The hostess was swamped, and she was being so patient and considerate despite that. The staff was the only redeemable part of my brunch.
Chris Slesarchik
Hot Suppa is most well-known as a breakfast/brunch place but they do dinner just as well (which is really really good!). Any breakfast item is top notch. Their burger is the best I've had in Portland, not because of any special or unique concoction, but just because of the quality and ratio of ingredients. Chicken and waffles is hands down the best I've ever had.
Bear in mind they're a little on the pricey side (like any restaurant in Portland) and they have a very small (albeit cozy and romantic) space so popular times like Sunday brunch will necessitate a wait.
Justin K
This has been my favorite indulging spot in Portland for years. While I miss some of the classics I think the new additions are superb. Plus GODAMN CHICKEN AND WAFFLES.
Mike Koshko
Hold on to your biscuits! This place is one of Portland’s best and it’s where the locals go. This dish, The Mother Clucker, is a fried chicken breast, buttermilk biscuit, cheddar curds, with sausage gravy, and it’ll take you through glutinous heaven, and a 3 hour food coma. This is a “must-try” kind of dish. Highly recommended.
Pro tip: If the wait is substantial, put your name on the list and wait outside. Don’t walk off or else you’ll miss your spot.
Lindsay Lennon
Unexpectedly found authentic southern food in Maine. Went on a Friday for brunch, and the wait was about 30-40 minutes. Decent sized portions, big enough to fill you up but not so much that you're rolling out the door. They also had a Maple Iced Latte that looked good. Friendly staff too!
Wil Bowman
Hip spot with a great brunch. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Parking is street parking, and it isn't cheap.
Scott Ward
killer place for Breakfast and Lunch. Appears to be fIrly busy always and you can expect a wit but they are very efficient and seem to move quickly. I had the Mother Clucker, a housemade biscuit with a fried chicken thigh topped with sausage gravy and cheese curds. they have plenty of drink options both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.prices seem a bit high but generous portion ND a keen sense of detail help with the value.

Combine that cozy hole in the wall atmosphere, with the incredible food, and fast/friendly service and you've got a recipe for success. Best eggs Benedict I've had in quite a while. My husband has the Corned Beef Hash and was also impressed. Good portions for worthy prices! Their spicy Bloody Mary is one for the books, too. Definitely one to put on your list if you haven't been already!
Dan Gunter
We had a couple wonderful,, breakfasts. Split a side of grits,, with cheese, just a touch on the salty side but some of the best I've ever had. The fried eggs were perfectly cooked and the corned beef hash was great. My wife's pancakes and maple syrup were reported as excellent. Friendly helpful employees completed a great experience. Recommend this place to anyone who finds themselves in the area.
Israel Rolon (Izzy Eat's)
This place is delicious. Hot Suppa is a cozy joint with some of the best food I've had during my stay in Portland. The french omelet special was perfection, and the breakfast poutine was out of this world. I can't wait to get back to Portland for more food.
Zac
Amazing place for brunch, great mimosa and brunch menu. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere is casual, laid back and relaxed. Staff knew the menu and were able to give great recommendations.
Gary Lippman
Had a fabulous breakfast with server Kaitlin . Her on spot service and great personality added to the breakfast experience. Thank You
Wingshing Yip
Went there on a Saturday morning for brunch. Be ware, there will be a wait, although the wait for me wasn't that bad, maybe about 20 minutes. The service from the server and the reception desk was 5 stars. No doubt about that. They were friendly and accommodating. While the service was really great, I feel that the food was a little underwhelming. The omelette I got felt like the eggs were from a mix instead of fresh eggs. The hash browns were oily and really mediocre. And the dish I got was not hot (it was luke warm and borderline cold). The food was not bad, but just mediocre. Not really worth the wait, unfortunately.
Margaret Hayden
This is a great breakfast spot. The food was tasty, they offer nice southern options like biscuits & gravy. Staff were friendly.
Jessica Schroeder
I had their special at the time... Scrambled eggs with burrata cheese and red bell peppers.
OH. MY. GOD.
When I say I just had to let it sit in my mouth with my eyes closed.... You know what I'm talking about. Lol
I dream about those eggs still. 🤤
You're probably thinking, " come one it's just eggs"..... NO. Don't you dare. These were special.
Raylin Pellatt
The wait was about 45 minutes and was SO worth it. The staff was incredibly nice and the food was delicious. The restaurant itself is very cute, and with amazing food and friendly staff it is a must try
Chris The Grouchy Raucci
One of the best places to eat in all of Portland. Whether it be Breakfast/Brunch, Lunch or dinner, the drinks and food are just spectacular. All dishes have a very southern comfort style to them, and the results are delicious. GET THE CAJUN BLOODY MARY 😃👏 …
carolyn dinwiddie
Fantastic breakfast. Great service. Just around the corner from the Airbnb where we were staying. Awesome introduction to our first day in Portland.
Julie Diedrich
Best meal we had on our vacation and the most friendly staff imaginable. Hate that living in Minnesota means i can’t eat at HS weekly!!
Go.
Tonia Barry
Small place with delicious food and good waitstaff. We really enjoyed it. Loved the Cider Mimosa, yum!
Nicole Bills
This spot is an amazing, casual, delicious, and has a great beer list. We came for my dad's birthday because he wanted somewhere laid back to get a steak and man, did this place deliver. The family had mac & cheese, shrimp & grits, falafel salad, and halibut, too. My mom won - the lightly breaded and fried sweet potato that came with her halibut was divine. Everything was tasty and gorgeously plated. Great experience!
Richie J
This place is a new favorite of mine in Portland. The Chicken & waffles is to die for. The staff were extremely friendly & helpfull. There is parking directly behind the building which makes it really easy considering the area is usualy pretty busy. I will definetly be back soon to try the rest of the menu. I regret not getting the Bread Pudding 🤕🤕 it looked incredible on the way out the door.
Ethan McGarry
Constantly delicious and savory comfort food. Southern inspired dishes are all well priced. The interior is small and cozy, but the service is always fast and friendly. Breakfast lunch and dinner options are all worth the wait this restaurant often seems to have!
Diana Nguyen
Came here because I heard that this has the best corned beef hash in Portland!
Went in on a Sunday around 1030 and waited about 25-30 minutes for a table for 2.
I always grade places by their corned beef hash, and this place did not let me down! The exterior was crisp and on the inside were actual pieces of corned beef instead of the usual mash of meat. I am pretty impressed with the food. The sourdough wasn’t too tangy but it was perfect to wipe down the plate after I ate my over easy eggs. The coffee is great, definitely a strong blend and not your typical watered down coffee.
My advice would be to come early, put your name down, and wait patiently. If you aren’t there when they call your name, they will go to the next party on the list. And when you come back you’ll be first in line again to receive a table, unless there’s other people in the same situation as you.
Delisa O'Brien
I enjoyed my meal and service here. I had the chicken and waffles entree and a kale and Brussel sprout salad starter. The salad was delicious but the chicken and waffles was pretty average.
Sheilla Thomas
Very cool place. Food was delicious and quick service. Staff were very friendly and courteous.
Lauren Keen Aumond
Our experience tells us this place is overrated for breakfast. I had eggs Benedict and one egg was basically cooked all the way through. The other was cooked right. Hash browns had great texture, but were flavorless.
Husband had an omelette and the cheese wasn't melted inside.
What you need to know: baby kale is a side option.
Daniel Stepel (The last Baby Boomer)
Great vibe going on here. Great food friendly service. Overall a really nice experience.
SPD
Food was amazing! Definitely try the fried chicken. The service too was very good
Mia Mantello
Delicious!! We had brunch cocktails, an AMAZ ing turkey pot pie Eggs Benedict and a Corned beef hash Benedict with gluten-free corn bread. And a waffle on the side.
Katie Lauver
Hot Suppa's "outdoor" space is adorable. Their special the night we visited was voodoo shrimp with fried catfish, it was perfectly cooked and seasoned.
Ed Holden
We've only been herr for breakfast. It's fantastic. The fried green tomatoes are a must. Their eggs and hash browns are also amazing. It can get very busy even before 9am on weekends, so go early or be prepared to wait.
johnny joaquim
It was a nice little place with exceptionally professional/friendly staff. The wait was long though it was a holiday so that was expected. I found the food flavorful but my eggs were slightly undercooked even though I got them scrambled. That is a difficult thing to mess up even when it's on the busy side. In that regard it is not acceptable especially since the menu is severely overpriced. Despite the small negative it was definitely a great place to experience and if I visit Portland again, I will 100% go again to see if all of the small areas that were mentioned above were a direct result of visiting on a holiday. Check them out and see if you agree. I would love to hear your thoughts and experience.
Brenton Schoenthaler
Great food and service! But, kind of pricy and so-so coffee. We arrived at 9AM on a Thursday and got right in, but it started to get busy shortly after
Celine Guedj
best food i’ve ever had!
Jesse Williams
Absolutely amazing food and service
Scott Thomas
A superb quality breakfast - but without becoming fussy or pretentious. Had the much talked about corned beef hash and my friends the mother clicker. The CBH was very good - however, given the choice between great cbh and great bacon - I’d have to go with bacon. The grits were cool - but I’d go with the hash browns which were the best I’ve had anywhere - and I live for breakfast. The Mother Cluckers were the real hit - great fried chicken and fluffy biscuits. Worth the wait.
Nicholas Corcoran
Cute diner with a large variety of traditional brunch foods and strong mimosas. Shrimp, corn sausage chowder is spicy and well seasoned.
Jacqueline Frenette
First time here, definitely will be back. Food and staff are awesome!
Мария Резниченко
It was one of the most delicious and fast serving brunch (breakfast) that I ever had in the USA. I spoiled with Europe restaurants, visited restaurants in 20 states of America and eat breakfasts in 10 of them. Hot Suppa is the best! Benedict Eggs was perfect, and local scrambled eggs was so exceptional! Highly recommended!
Suedeh Ranjbar
Really good food! I’m not from the south but I’ve been there and this rivals or even trumps the south’s food. Delicious. Worth the wait for sure!
Big Cheese
Small but great breakfast spot.. the decor is as interesting as the servers. Breakfast was inventive, Hot & tasty. If you get a chance try the chicken & waffles or the pulled pork eggs Benny.
Cam Welch
Wonderful service (Luca was attentive and very kind). Delicious food. Hot and exactly what I wanted/needed. 5 stars is not enough. 100% recommend.
Pete Carscallen
Hot Suppa was well worth the wait. The food was amazing. I had the fried chicken on a biscuit the first day, washed down with a cold brew coffee and mimosa. Second breakfast we had I ate the eggs Benedict which was also great
James Lewis
Now I know why this is a locals only spot - the food and vibe are awesome. Best biscuits and sausage gravy since grandmas.
Kri (Klmbean)
We sat on the outdoor patio. It was so quaint. Food was good too.
Eric Loiselle
I have family that lives right outside Portland, and have been going to Hot Suppah for a while. Normally, visits are a 5 star, though the hash browns pictured were overly oily, and not enjoyable. My uncle had already sent back his waffle for being cold, so I decided to just eat them.
Sandwich was an egg, pulled pork, onions, and all sorts of delicious, and certainly made up for the hash browns. They have other great food on the menu, which I recommend starting with a more classic breakfast for a beginner.
Sidenote: recommend fixing the parking situation. There are two (mostly) empty lots customers can't use. I'm sure something can be worked out.
Jay Narey
Excellent reasonably priced food and service. A little dark for reading but otherwise no complaints !
Veronica
Delicious southern food! I had the mushroom scramble and it was filling and flavorful! The cheesy grits were yummy and the toast was nice and buttery. Mimosas and bloody Marys from here are delicious too!
Morgan Madsen
Had brunch here the other day, everything was wonderful. Server was great, food was great. I had the spinach artichoke scramble and a mimosa. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good brunch spot!
Sam Anderson
My husband and I very much enjoyed the food, I had their waffle which was perfect and he had biscuits and gravy, both were excellent. Their cocktails were mediocre but otherwise an excellent experience.
Gentry Lange
Just delicious. Everyone loved it in our party. And as I'm traveling... Best meal I've had on the trip.
I had the pulled pork eggs Benedict... Awesome
Robert Clayton
Omg the waiters and waitresses were wonderful and the good was great. I will go back to see what the night life is like. I had chicken and waffles with cheese grits and coffee. They kept my coffee filled and the food was great and I didn't have to wait long for my food... I recommend to all only thing is that it's small, but maybe that's what makes it a homie feel.
Jaswinder Pal Singh Ahluwalia
I had french toast and pecan waffles here. I don't think I ever had better waffles than this in the United States. Must go brunch place if you're in Portland, Maine.
Oahu Photo Tours
Bro, bruh, brudda! This place was exactly what I was looking for! Love me some good greens for breakfast. So good and friendly. Get that baby Kale and grits when you visit.
Scott Hersey
My favorite breakfast place in Portland. Delicious and authentic southern foods.
Katie Levis
Flavorful bloody Mary and the mushroom scramble was yummy.
Wendy Starr
The Lobster Benedict was to die for. The servers were nice and attentive. The wait to get in was well worth it.
Matthew Greene
Fantastic food, great portions. Very small for how popular it is and the patio I believe has no A/C. Great service though.
Melissa Peña
Loved this little southern/Maine fusion place. Their chowder is to die for!! Really delicious dishes, and the staff was great too.
Tara J. Konya, Ph.D.
We visited on a Saturday morning to celebrate my son's birthday. We arrived around 10:30 and waited 30-40 minutes before being seated. It's well worth the wait. My son and I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The hashbrowns were a perfect complement. We ordered a side of bacon, not worth it. I like thick meaty bacon and this was super thin. In my opinion not worth the $1 a slice. My husband ordered a bloody mary, it had a nice spice. The chicken and waffles were exceptional and this is coming from someone who lived in Raleigh, NC for 20 years! We will definitely return.
Tanner Slift
One of the best corn beef hash’s I’ve ever experienced and I’ve had quite a few!
Service was great, very attentive and pleasant. Struck up a casual conversation easily and by the end we were laughing like old friends.
That being said the highlight was definitely the Bloody Mary, I was coming out of a pretty intense hangover and not only did I feel better than I have in months after I’m pretty sure it cleared my sinuses.
Would 100% recommend!
Patrick Tong
The corned beef hash was very good. My gf loved the shrimp benny. Great place. Great food. Great service. A bit pricey but totally worth it.
Joey C Johnson
Tried their breakfast today! Fantastic! Every item was prepared well. Only downside were the poached eggs. The yolks were not runny. Hash was delicious. Steak tip special was spot on. Hollandaise tasted homemade and fresh hash browns! Give it a try. Won’t disappoint.

Great service! Portland, I'm beginning to learn is more progressive than I imagined. Although, this is a southern food inspired restaurant, it had a unique modern twist. Since I have religious restrictions when it comes to food, we always have to tell our waiters what to look out for if we try to order something within our boundaries and Joey, our waiter actually knew the term "halal" without us mentioning it. That was a breath of fresh air. The food is good, filling, and portion size is adequate. They have gluten free cornbread, which was a first for me. Their maple latte was also delicious according to my husband. If you're looking for options with deliciousmeals, this is the spot for you. My only thing is I'm not too much of a fan of fried foods, it gets me feeling heavy. The Benedict had this fried pickle or eggplant, which actually tasted great in combo and a mayo like sauce on too. Again it tasted phenomenal, but I don't like fried food too much and didn't expect that. Otherwise, great choice to eat at.
Rachel Gutekunst
Billy was a fabulous host for our dining experience. The eggs Benedict over fried green tomatoes with hollandaise and kale salad was fantastic. The back patio is pleasant and warm and happily decorated for the season. They were warm and inviting when we arrived this morning for breakfast and we were sat and served promptly. I mentioned the need to leave early, so Billy brought the check for us and we were able to leave at a leisurely pace. A wonderful experience.
Daniel GB
The breakfast this morning was incredible!! The staff is amazing. They clearly love making the food bc you can taste the love. Absolute staple in Portland and visit it often to try everything on the breakfast and lunch menu!!
Ajit
Do yourself a favor, treat yourself with some hot suppa. Great food and service.
LisaMarie Zimmerman
Breakfast was delicious and service was excellent! Not a lot of seating so be aware of the potential wait during peak hours.
Jason Zimmerman
I searched for a brunch place in Portland and this had great reviews. It didn’t disappoint. I sat at the bar since I was by myself. They were very attentive. The waffle was to-die-for. It had so much flavor and very crispy. The coffee and chair were well crafted!
Currie Debow
Absolutely amazing and worth the wait. The Cajun bloody Mary was perfect. Once we finally got in service was quick and great! I'd love to go again and try more things. Do yourself a favor and try the corned beef hash. You won't regret it.
Lou Caribou
We came here for breakfast a couple times and the food is pretty solid. Chicken and Waffles was good in there corned beef hash is okay. Service is good and the menu has interesting choices. The Bloody Mary was good. If I had to criticize one thing it would be the wooden booths. They have an almost 90 degree vertical back, solid wood, no cushion. Like church pews. I'm not sure if they built really uncomfortable seats to turn tables over quickly so people wouldn't hang out too long? It's a small place.
Andrew
Great food, and nice cozy atmosphere. The drinks are great, and the food is mostly very delicious, but the corned beef hash leaves a lot to be desired.
Francesca420
I think about this place every day. I’ve only ever been here twice, as a tourist, and may I just say I am overwhelmed with positive feelings about this place.
Rui Su
Amazing food!!! Easily one of the best fried chickens I've ever had: it was juicy, flavorful, just the right combination of crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and just the right proportion. Their bloody Mary is also oh-so-tasty and spicy. Enjoyed every single dish and devoured them before we remembered to take pics!! The waiters are also super friendly ❣️ if you are still on the fence, JUST GO THERE ALREADY
anish karmacharya
Cozy place to have brunch
Jacob Ramsey
Was told a 45 minute wait and it ended up being less than 30. I got the chicken and waffles. Chicken wasn’t anything to call home about, but easily one of the best waffles I’ve ever had. Service was great.
Diane Bush
Went here for breakfast while in Portland and so glad we found this gem. It was so good we went back two days later. Tried many things on the menu and we were never disappointed. The French omelet, omelet, waffles, sausage and biscuit gravy were all excellent.
The restaurant was cozy, clean and the staff was very friendly. Definitely recommend this place.
Brian Hard
Fresh and delicious southern food here. I really like the choice of meals and drinks here. It can get a bit loud due to the high ceiling and the booths felt a bit cramped to me. But it has a lovely interior and a great little bar as well. I recommend the catfish and fried green tomatoes. Quality service as well.
Larry Fertel
Great food, worth the wait! Good strong coffee also.
Brian Vickery
Something different and delicious in Portland for brunch.
Ryan Wilson
What a great spot! Service was great and the food came out pretty quickly. The hardest part was deciding what to order, but after tasting everything it's clear that there are no wrong choices!
Highly recommend the Avocado Benedict (if available) and the Corn/Shrimp/Andouille Chowder. Unbelievably good, and large portions too!
Daryl Byrne
Locals know this is the place for brunch! Friendly staff with a bit of New Orleans flare.
Camila Anderson
Excellent service. Food was good except they ran out of chicken breast and I don’t like dark meat. The chicken was half the reason I came here. I also found a hair in my food.. other than that it was an ok experience. Great waffles
Marissa Pabon
Best breakfast I’ve ever had in my life!! I go every Monday and have never had a bad meal at hot suppa. Highly recommend over ANYWHERE in Portland
Tyler O'Brien
Been meaning to come here for over a year. Finally did it and was not disappointed! The food and service were both fantastic.
Ted S
Kitchen did a great job. Food arrived in warp speed and it was sublime. All the while the place was packed which made it all seem quite exceptional. Treat yourself, we were glad we did.
Hannah Channel
Best breakfast in town! I've been to Maine several times now and each time I come, I make sure to stop at Hot Suppa. The eggs benedict in my favorite. Great food at a great price. Hot Suppa was also featured on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
Brittney Rose
Hot Suppa is a must try on your visit to Portland! I went to Portland for the first time this month and had read about this place as a highly recommend spot in travel blogs. I enjoyed it so much I went 2x during my trip! Great customer service, delicious flavorful food, and an atmosphere with a cool southern vibe. The waffle with blueberry compote and Chantilly cream was out of this world especially with Maine maple syrup! GOLLY! They also make a nice latte :) thanks Hot Suppa for adding some flavor and southern flair to my Portland vacation!
Heidi Chestnut
Now I know why there is always a line!! Brunch was amazing! The food is fresh, cooked perfectly, wide selection and a cute outside space. Our server was lovely!
Jodie Ouwinga
First time I ever had chicken and waffles in my life. Was amazing! Why do we not eat that in the Midwest? Had never even heard of this magnificent combo until now
Mary Shannon
It was ok. Given the reviews, we expected to be really blown away, and left pretty underwhelmed. Nothing was BAD, but it wasn't very good, either. Grits were undercooked, fried green tomatoes were under-seasoned, and the biscuits were heavy and doughy. It wasn't terrible, but given the array of options in Portland I can't imagine we'd go back.
Debbie Peters
Food left so much to be desired. We were a little disappointed. However, it's such a cute spot with a nice vibe, I'd say it was alright.
جورجين مغرودر
My favorite place to eat in Portland. The ONLY restaurant serving real hash browns at breakfast. If you're a no nonsense foodie like myself you know the difference between hash browns and breakfast potatoes. Hot Suppa always exceeds my expectations and I look forward to eating there at any meal time but especially breakfast.
Todd Knight
Great place for breakfast. Smaller menu but good choices. Would definitely go back. Staff was friendly and service was pretty quick.
Louis Masi
Thoroughly enjoyed the food the atmosphere and the service, well spaced tables, best waffle in town, top notch gravy fluffy golden biscuits. Would recommend. My only concern recommending this place is that it would make the wait longer. Usually about a fifteen minute wait I would happily wait thirty and begrudgingly wait 45.
Will Snow
Great breakfast spot, cozy with great food and wonderful service.
I had the eggs Benedict with hash browns. Eggs done just right, Canadian bacon and awesome hollandaise. The hash browns were just how I like them crispy with a soft inside.
Got a table quickly and enjoyed a great breakfast at a reasonable price. I stole a bit of French toast from my son along with a bit of Maine maple syrup and was a little jealous of him !
Abbey
Worth the wait! Food and cocktails were delicious. The flavors were not overpowering, coffee was great! And even better they were playing one of my favorite albums the whole time we were dining.
Megan Roberts
Amazing spot! My husband and I went to Hot Suppa for dinner a couple of weeks ago to celebrate a special occasion. As a surprise for my husband, I requested a bottle of sparkling wine for the table upon arrival. The Hot Suppa team was super responsive and texted me with bottle and price options early in the day. Upon arrival our table was ready with a lovely bottle of sparkling and 2 glasses waiting for us. :) Our server was awesome and clearly takes pride in what she does. The food was OUTSTANDING: highly recommend the pimento cheese appetizer, as well as the lobster and grits, and of course the fried chicken. For dessert, you can't miss the bread pudding: best bread pudding I've ever had in my life.
TL;DR: this place is great. You should go to there.
Ivi Pejic
Amazing food! Veryyyy busy place, you have to come early if you don't want to wait!
Arch Stanton
Nice southern style restaurant
Comfortable and welcoming place with friendly service. Well presented food that is consistently on point. Satisfying experience! Enjoy!

Y'all. I'm based in Boston now, but I grew up in Utah and three of the things I miss most are shredded hash browns, good biscuits, and white country gravy with sausage. You can get a perfect rendition of all three things on the same plate at Hot Suppa. Comes with eggs to order and the juice is FRESH (as good as it can possibly be without squeezing it in-house). The rest of my party tried a few other things on the menu and everything got glowing reviews. EXPECT A WAIT BUT KNOW THAT ITS WORTH IT. If I had a dollar for every party that didn't put their name down because 'I don't wanna wait/there's a shorter wait at XX', I would've ordered another round of drinks before we left. Put your name down, go grab a coffee, and reminisce about that guy dancing on a table on wharf street last night. You'll have a great time and when you leave you'll find you're no longer hungover.
Paul Milliken
This was our first time here. No parking but to be fair it is in the city. Nice outdoor patio out back and the service was great. The food however was hit or miss. The waffle I had was worse than an Eggo waffle that was barely heated in the toaster. My wife's hash browns were straight potatoes without any seasonings added. The sausages were excellent and her hash was very nice but for the price I probably won't be back anytime soon.
Julia P.
Great food, wonderful service, and awesome bloody mary! We got the pulled pork breakfast sandwich and the eggs benny's with Canadian bacon. Might look simple when plated, but the flavor is there and the hollandaise was some of the best I've ever had! While I was too excited to wait for a picture, the bloody mary was topped with some yummy pickled veggies. Great place, thanks so much Hot Suppa!
Shimada Sims
The food and drinks were amazing 👏🏿 😋 😍
Kaye Field
Delicious food! Very small restaurant, but the breakfast was very delicious!
Paul Wion
Nice little place with friendly staff. Firefly 1/2 and 1/2 is a great cocktail. Poutine is on point with homemade black pepper gravy and fresh cheese curds. Had the pimento cheese burger, good burger cooked perfect but was hoping for a little more pimento cheese flavor. Otherwise I would recommend based on the creativeness of their menu and pleasant staff.
Shirlann Walker
Wonderfully done. Amazing Flavors!
Peter Walter
Great breakfast place, worth the wait. Often times close to an hour wait around 11 or 12, but really they call you sooner than an hour.
kevin schomisch
I stopped in Hot Suppa one day when an appointment cancelled and I was in the area anyway. I had heard they had some great sausage gravy and biscuits which is one of my favorites. And I got to tell you I was impressed really good gravy great hash browns eggs done just how I ordered them Sunny Side Up nice and juicy and I had it with the side of grits I think they were called geechie boy grits. Fantastic breakfast only being a big active guy it could have been bigger I was probably good for the average person but next time I would probably order something else with it I happen to have a huge appetite. Our waitress was great attentive but not overbearing and I really like the place I'll definitely be back.
vikki lenhart
Biscuits and gravy, grits, bloody mary’s. Trust this southerner when I tell you that you can’t go wrong with Hot Suppa.
Paul Fisher
An hour wait at busy times, worth it though. Excellent standard of food and service
Vivian Wang
Wow, although a long wait around the brunch time, we don't regret at all. The egg benedict plate and the fried chicken breast plate are both top notch. The chowder is also amazingly presented, the taste is well balanced. Fancy version of southern style cuisine.
IWC IWC
We found this place by chance while exploring Portland. The food was the best we had during our stay. Big portions, freindly service and an absolutely perfect menu of southern comfort food. We are vegetarian and there was more than enough options for us. And now for our shameful secret... we liked our meals so much we ate them and then ordered the exact same thing again. We ate two exact meals in a row!
J A
Nice, comfortable atmosphere and delicious food. We had a nice window seat that was warm and cozy. The hostess and waitress was very friendly and didn't bother us needlessly as a lot of restaurants do.
We both got the Mother Clucker and it was amazing. From the cheese curds in the hearty, flavorful gravy to the juicy fried chicken, everything was so tasty. Even the unsweetened tea struck me as especially tasty. Perfect breakfast spot for our first visit to Portland.
Update: visited with a friend during a busy weekend morning. They didn't ask if we wanted to sit outside but sat us there anyway under a big tent. It was very hot and muggy with no fan or anything. The waiter spilled Bloody Mary on my friend's pants and didn't offer anything to make up for it. I felt like he wasn't even sorry... Food was great, though, as usual.
Mark S.
Southern comfort food that's pretty close to actual Southern comfort food!
I had "The Mother Clucker" and it was great!
The chicken was fried to perfection and the biscuits were buttery, flaky, and soft. The ONLY thing that isn't quite as good as the South is the gravy, but it's very close and honestly, it hit the spot!
(Take it from the guy who just moved from the South)
An excellent place to visit and they also have an outdoor area that's dog friendly!
Sarah Mulcahy
Me and my roommate had a fabulous experience here. Our waitress was super friendly & accommodating. Our food was fresh and delicious. The best waffle and the best fried chicken I have ever had - and I lived in North Carolina for almost 4 years! Everything was excellent and we can't wait to be back!
Kristine Donatelli
Homemade corned beef hash, eggs over easy, while wheat toast, hashbrowns, a grapefruit wedge and a side of hollandaise 😋 …
Joe Reed
Lucky enough to find this place our first morning and smart enough to return on our last, Hot Suppa is a foodie find for sure. From the friendly smiling eyes of local staff, prompt attentive service, and well appointed menu this place was one of our favorites of the trip. The maple iced tea was a subtle, sweet twist on a long time staple. The fried green tomato Benedict was a two for two hit. Homemade sausage gravy on the biscuits and gravy and a conscientious pandemic-ready system made this a delicious, comfortable visit. Highly recommended!
Robert Kelly
Although the wait can sometimes be long, you will not regret going.
Marc B.
Great covered outdoor seating. Staff had proper covid ppe and awareness. Food was excellant.
Jeanne Ortiz
Great service, excellent food. Nice area outdoor.

Truly great breakfast, and absolutely our new go-to breakfast joint. I had perfect Eggs Benedict, my wife had incredible fried chicken. Service was very friendly and efficient. The only complaint I'd have is that the place is a little too small, so we had a wait to get in even on a Friday mid-morning, not a long wait, but more than you want. There was a 45 minute wait they last morning we tried, but that was a Sunday so it's forgivable, but still, a bigger room might help.
Nathan Ferry
Fun restaurant with friendly staff and great food. Oysters were decent, a little larger than I am used to and the cocktail sauce was a bit thick. We had small plates for sharing and the rest was excellent. Wings were crispy and meaty with flavorful spicy seasoning. Wedge salad was excellent. I only had a small piece of the hot chicken, which was spicy, but not as much as I expected from the description. Parking is on street/metered depending on the time of day.
noelle wilburn
Delicious food and awesome service! Well worth the long wait time to be seated. You will not be disappointed! Highly recommend the chicken and waffles!
A. Makela
Fabulous service by Joe and amazing food that was delicious, made with fresh and healthy ingredients!
Katherine Desjardins
Would love to see a kid's menu but overall, impeccable.
Liz H
Their pulled pork mac & cheese is so good I'm literally thinking about it 2 years later. First thing I'm ordering when the border re-opens!! I've been comparing every other restaurant Mac and cheese to it and they all pale in comparison, it's so d@mn good. DIVINE.
Dale Vasco
Good comfort food stick to your ribs Goodness. Friendly Staff
Bowen Kirwood
Some of the BEST breakfast I have ever had in Portland. I didn't know that an egg could be that perfectly cooked. seriously. Drinks we're stunners too!
Jonathan Davis
This was my first time visiting Hot Suppa. I had heard great things, and I wasn't disappointed. I had the corned beef hash and eggs with hash browns. Hands down, the best corned beef hash I've had in Portland. Crispy crust, with a tender and flavorful center. Very hearty portions. (I couldn't finish everything) It reminded me of when my mom would turn left over pot roast into hash. The hash browns were top notch as well. Great service and the price was reasonable. Tight quarters at the bar, but all and all a great experience. Looking forward to my next visit.
Anna Jones
I did not expect the Southern influence here, but I loved it! I had chilaquiles with pulled pork and a spicy bloody mary that had pickled okra as a garnish. My kid had an absolutely perfect delicious fluffy waffle that I may have stolen a few bites of. Nice location, excellent service, short wait but was made tolerable by the friendliness of the staff. Lovely brunch experience!
Melissa Marcinuk
Great menu! Delicious food!
Nick Loving
Very good food, nice atmosphere with paintings on the walls. There was a long wait, but it's restaurant week and all places were like that. There wasn't much room which made it on the loud side. I don't know that if I'd classify it as a must try, but it was enjoyable and I'd go again.
Update: had breakfast there two days later and it was great. Not a great place for groups larger than 4, but beyond that would definitely recommend.
Melissa Stone
Ate in their enclosed patio. Awesome food and drinks. They had a poutine special which was to die for! Their Nashville hot chicken is the real deal—but you may go through an entire pitcher of water! Their gluten free pasta dish was also outstanding! Would highly recommend this place!
Steve Lawrence
What a great evening the wife and I had at this restaurant. Service was superb and the food was delicious. I enjoyed their version of an "Old Fashion" that they aptly named "New Fashion". There following of COVID-19 safety protocol was a top priority which made our evening out even more enjoyable. We both look forward to a return to this establishment.
margaret reimer
Delicious southern style breakfasts. The restaurant is small and wait times on the weekends can be long, but worth it!
Ethan S
Breakfast was soooo good. Got the eggs Benedict and the French toast. 100% would and want to come back again next trip!
Grace Young
Loved this place! Came here during happy hour (4-6) and there was no wait. During happy hour, oysters are $1 each, and also $1 off all drinks. We got two rounds of oysters (20 total for the two of us), an appetizer portion of the Nashville hot chicken (one piece), and I also had a cocktail.
The oysters were extremely fresh and yummy and came with a lovely horseradish sauce. My cocktail was also delicious and generously sized. The Nashville hot chicken, which was advertised as being extremely spicy and covered in a layer of cayenne, was as such but also finger licking delicious! The waitress was extremely nice and helpful, especially in describing the chicken and coming to check in on us or bring napkins every once in a while. I'd happily have the chicken again, but my boyfriend probably wouldn't. He said his face went numb and he couldn't taste a thing.
Highly recommend stopping by!
James
Good location. Easy to walk to if you are nearby or there were also buses that stopped near the restaurant. Street parking but some of it seem like meters. I went for breakfast and it was not soo busy that we couldn't get s table. The tables are a bit small and tend to get short on space once drinks come. The grits were nice and creamy. The omelet was great. Overall the food was excellent but the small tables and lack of A/C was a negative. It got so hot that it was cooler to step outside.
Dennis Feliciano
Awesome food ! No parking ! We had breakfast, home made corned beef hash with eggs, and hash browns were cooked to perfection. Grits were great too! Every part of the meal from coffee and tea to the marble rye toast was tasty and spot on. This meal was made with love. This is not a greasy spoon! It's an upscale urban eatery that deserves a great review. To bad we found it on the last day of our trip. Nice patio out back. Only downside was street parking only that was metered. Street parking Didn't matter after the meal.
Douglas Patten
Great spot but be prepared to wait. The food is amazing and something to experience!
Andrew Feeney
The staff here are hands down the best. Food is good. Drinks are good. We had oysters, fried green tomatoes, fried chicken & waffle, a Cuban sandwich, Mac & cheese, and collared greens. We sat at bar to eat our meal, and the bartender brought us some of their special sauce--a molasses and sriracha blend (it's crack sauce, you will want to put it on everything). Can't wait to try the breakfast. Very warm and comfy environment inside the restaurant.
Nick Foster
Great little southern style comfort breakfast fare. Have gone 6 times and left very happy. There is usually a wait, good food places always do, however they turn over tables rather quickly. Really cool display of art both hung paintings and the walls they are displayed upon. I will be returning many times in the future.
Lara Mayer
Excellent southern-style breakfast. Large portions, fresh high-quality ingredients. I had the salmon bagel, husband had the corned beef hash, both were delicious. Tiny little place, but definitely worth the wait and the price.
Stephen Largy
Incredible experience at this place. The hostess went out of her way to accommodate our young daughters. Our server was incredibly friendly and efficient, as the restaurant was very busy. The food stole the show. We ordered a complex combination of dishes, apps, and sides and everything was extremely well done! This is our Portland spot from now on!
Mike Shackett
The employees are so much fun ,I could live here. The recommended corn beef hash is great! There Irish coffee is also excellent. So is the nice brunette waitress.Sorry I had to say that!
Andrew Schundler
Great food each time I’ve gone with mixed service. One time really good and one time the hostess was very rude and gave up our spot in line because my friend stepped outside to grab their wallet and “wasn’t at the counter when called”. Hesitant to return even though it is a great menu.
Eric Salamon
Had breakfast here with my wife on a Saturday morning. Was busy but worth it. Food was great, I had irish hash special, although I regret not getting the waffle plate. I will have to go back. Highly recommended. Its a small place and very popular so there is usually a wait.
Marcus Dempster
Fiancé and I were on our way out of Portland and were told not to miss this local gem! There was a 20-30 minute wait for a table for two on Friday morning, but we were able to sit at the bar quickly. We both got the coffee, which was great. Although we did not drink, the bar looked like it had great offerings and original cocktails. My fiancé got eggs Benedict, which she said was excellent. I got the corn beef hash, which was good but I would probably order something different next time. Overall a very solid place that lived up to the hype!
Christine Fisher
we had the most amazing breakfast here. i ordered a french style omelette with red beans and rice and it was absolutely delicious. my friend ordered the sloppy joe special with poached eggs, hollandaise and hash browns. everything was amazing and our waitress was the nicest, friendliest waitress ever. highly recommend
Mitchell Gaynor
Liked it alot but wasn't blown over by the brunch I had here. Will say it's the best eggs I've had in over a year though. A touch over priced, but high quality ingredients and creative options make this worth hitting for sure.
Jennifer Burke
The pimento cheese was pretty good. If you're from SC trust me its not SC bbq sauce. The waffle was delicious, but the chicken was only okay. Our server was great.
alan barker
I've been a few times and I've never been disappointed. I've had a few long waits (20+ minutes) but it has been absolutely worth the wait. Tonight, however, we walked right in and were sat right away. The server was prompt, friendly and attentive and the food was incredible. I had chicken and waffle with a side of maple bourbon glazed sweet potato and the flavor was just second to none. The plate came out full from edge to edge, but it went back empty.
Liz B.
The food was excellent. Had the fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, meatloaf special, and ginger cake. Hard to pick a favorite dish. But the ginger cake was a surprise hit--just like a big soft ginger snap. The service was very friendly and they had a booster or highchair for our toddler. Excellent beer selection, too. Will definitely be back.
Liz Brydon
Soooo good! The nashville hot chicken was HOT! We had every side except the corn chowder and they were all very, very good. Both desserts were amazing and all the drinks were great!
I'd also say -- the poutine was way better than Duckfats! The gravy was much more flavorful and the cheese curds had the perfect chew.
Ilene Lazar
I had an early arrival from Portland airport and knew I would be hungry. I saw the reviews on this place and thought I'd give it a try. I didn't know of any places in Portland, as I was just passing through to get to my destination. I wasn't disappointed. I ordered a breakfast corned beef and egg sandwich. Hands down THE best corned beef I've ever had. Not chewy, not fatty, and just the right amount of salt. My friend had an omelette with pesto and fresh mozzarella. Fabulous! The staff were very friendly and made sure everyone got seated as quickly as possible. The only down side is that they don't have any parking lot so one must find street parking. But it's so worth it. Our waitress Elizabeth was so helpful. Being out of towners, we parked in a lot. She told us to move our car as it'll be towed. Very grateful for that advice, as we still had an hour and a half drive to our destination. If you're in Portland, you must try this place out.
Ghazal Kayal
Hands down one of the best places I've ever eaten at. The first time I went in I had their fried chicken on a waffle and was instantly hooked. The second time I had their eggs benedict with fried green tomatoes. Both were excellent and absolutely delicious. The service is nice too.
Ray Boyington
Very good food at slightly higher prices.
Everything seems to be farm-to-table and organic here. The food is good but a bit on the pricier side. A wait to be seated is typical... people walk by other restaurants to get to this one. Service is pretty good... Lucca was very attentive and amicable. There's seating inside and out.
I had the French-style omelette special with oysters, mushrooms, zucchini, and other stuff (I don't remember); my wife had something more basic. I definitely remember the mushrooms... they were very savory and definitely NOT from a can. Grits were grits... but then again, I'm not a huge fan, but figured I'd try them. Ghiradelli coffee drink was tasty.
Wouldn't mind stopping by again!
Mike Brough
Just look at the photos. Enough said!
Barbara Ganem
Just had breakfast there for the first time. I had a delicious egg sandwich with corned beef and pickled onions on rye bread. So good! My husband loved his grits and homemade corned beef hash. Service was great too.
Wyatt Cartwright
Hot Suppa is one of those restaurants in Portland you have to go to at least once if you live in the area.
Amazing food and drinks. Their breakfast/brunch is fantastic, I personally love their housemade corned beef hash and spicy bloody mary's. The bloodys have a nice kick to them, which is exactly what I look for in bloodys.
The dining room is small so you may have to wait, but they are located right on congress so you can always kill time by walking around and what not.
Their dinner menu is also fantastic, I usually get their house double double cheeseburger with fries. Their other offerings such as mac n cheese or fried chicken are both fantastic. They also offer a variety of southern based sides that compliment their dinner dishes perfectly.
Their to-go is super easy and convenient, so no line or wait should hold you back from checking out this Portland gem.
Chetan
The food is good. To be fair we did takeout.
Nate Whitehead
Mother Clucker... Enough said. Biscuit fried chicken sandwich covered in cheese curds, hasbrowns and sausage gravy. Cool vibe, friendly staff.... there's a reason there's a line out the door. Don't pass this place by.
Animesh Mehta
The food was delicious. Service was very good. They were able to seat us in about 15 minutes on a very busy Friday afternoon. The place is a little cramped though. We loved the fried chicken and pulled pork. The coffee was also very good. Parking can be difficult to find around the restaurant as it does not have a dedicated parking.
Daniel Sutcliffe
Returned after a delicious brunch three years earlier to find this breakfast hot spot in Portland just as popular, tasty and friendly as ever.
Be prepared for a wait, but if my experiences have been anything to go by the wait will be worth it as there are some really good fresh and different brunch selections to be had here. Cocktails also look good if you are feeling that way out.
Helen Elix
Incredible food. I can't say enough. We had such a great breakfast, we returned for supper. Fried green tomatoes are the best I have ever tasted, and the mac and cheese is perfection. Wait staff is kind and very engaged.
Kim
I really enjoyed this place both the atmosphere and the food. I had two over easy eggs that were cooked perfectly! No egg discoloration. The gluten free cornbread was really good and it was a nice surprise there was a gluten free option. The only things I would of liked to see is a turkey alternative meat and the hash browns were a little greasy. A bit pricey but nothing substantial.
Ayumi Horie
My favorite place for breakfast because it's a great balance between being indulgent and being healthy. The booths are cozy and it's not too loud to have a conversation with friends. Service is great. Get there early enough and there won't be a wait. I highly recommend the Fried Green Tomatoes Eggs Benedict!
Paul Conley
The staff here are incredibly friendly and accommodating. I have lived in Portland but hadn’t been to this location since the time it was called The Friendship Cafe. Hot Suppa came highly recommended and I will continue to pass that recommendation along. I’m not a coffee expert by any stretch but the latte the serve are delicious. Beer on tap with a good selection. While I ate breakfast a regular came in and was given what I think is his regular spot. I am not surprised this is the kind of place that has regulars on a first name basis with the staff. Their special of the day was a French style omlette that was excellent meal at an affordable price.
Adriann Divozzo
Delicious fried green tomatoes! Nice service and drinks.
Phil Scott
This place has delicious southern-esque food. The restaurant itself is very small. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm. Service is fantastic, and the entire staff seemed cheerful and happy to be there. Quick note on their Nashville hot chicken...heed the menu warnings. It really is super hot...I love hot food and was able to happily eat it, but the other folks at my table....not so much.
Danielle Rybak Mashiah
Eh. Kinda disappointed honestly. Good but not wowed. Long wait and the ceiling condensation was dripping on my meal so that deterred me in general
Will Monaco
we’ve always loved this spot. went recently after they opened up for dinner and we were very happy with the (somewhat) limited menu. more importantly, seating inside felt very *not* claustrophobic, and the dishes provided were as good as usual! thankfully, hot suppa is still holding up.
Nathaly
Fresh, tasty food. Luckily we came early on a Thursday morning and were seated within 10 min. The service and the ambiance was laid back. I would definitely recommend and return to try other dishes when im the area.
Martin LaBelle
Amazing drinks... The Slow Me Down is perfect... But ask for "extra smoky" because it's better. Hot chicken appetizer is perfectly hot, and the hot catfish is one of the best things on the menu.
Tip your waitstaff because they take care of you... And sit at the bar because it's the best seat in the house. Plus, the bartender is like Ms. Wizard with the cocktails.
Need another reason to go here? If you don't, the ghost of Jimmy Hoffa will come and hang out in you kitchen and keep spoiling your milk. Isn't that reason enough?
Patricia Rodriguez
Went here three times. First time, Sat @ 10:00 - one hr wait. Second time, arrived at 9:30 on a Wednesday - 45 min wait. At the risk of ruining everything: 1:00 on a Thu - Less than 5 minute wait. ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. Check out the daily specials, they're what you didn't know your heart wanted 🥇 …
Kayla Carpenter
The breakfast scrabbles were delicious. Good service.
Tiffany
Best breakfast we've ever had. I got chicken & waffles, my husband ordered a veggie omelette. The eggs we're cooked in a way we've never even seen, and melted in your mouth. The chicken was spiced and battered to perfection, and the waffle was light and fluffy. We wish we had more stuff to do in the area so we could come back for lunch!
Travis Russell
Great food, small but great beer selection, great cocktails, 1.50 oysters. The best bloody Mary I've had out of several states. I get the Hot Cat almost every time. If you like spice/heat, or fried chicken, you will love this place.
Camie Hall
Every time my husband and I go to Portland we eat breakfast/brunch here. I haven't heard much about their lunch, but the breakfast is so good you can expect to wait a while... but so worth it. If you go check it out please try the Mother Clucker. It wont win you any Weight Watchers points, but it is worth every creamy, crispy, delicious calorie.
Alex Figueroa
One of the best breakfasts I've ever had - everything was slammin!!
Zac H
Went for lunch, just before 2pm when they begin to shut down until dinner time. There was only a short wait for a table. We were promptly served following and enjoyed Mac n cheese, a Cuban sandwich, and a chicken sandwich. No complaints on any of this "southern style" food. Also tried the cold Brew coffee and found it to be great. Definitely recommend for a casual lunch. Prices aren't crazy but i wouldn't classify it as cheap either. But hey, you get what you pay for!
Peyton Curran
Have been here for brunch many times. Wait is usually long, but the food is worth it if you don't mind. They're most famous for their Eggs Benedict. Staff is always friendly, and accommodating.
Kari Bily
This place lived up to our expectations. We ordered to go, got our food in 10 minutes and ate at a nearby park. It was delicious. We got the Cubano and the Fried Green Tomato BLT and fries. All 3 get 5 stars! My favortie was the pimento blend on the BLT, it complemented every part of the sandwich. And my husband loved how they cut the little pickles in the Cubano. Everything was delicious and I can't wait to go back!
Henry Mclane
A warm atmosphere featuring art by local artists. The happy hour menu is fantastic, you can't beat $1 oysters! Their bloody Mary is a work of art too. One of the best I've had! A must try when visiting.
Christopher Flansburg
I love the food here. Had Biscuits and gravy this time. It was wonderful. Hashbrowns as well which for some reason are hard to find most places. Service was prompt cheerful.
Get there early or you'll have a long wait! It's a very popular place
Scott Payson
Ridiculously awesome! I live here in Portland - one of the foodiest town in America - and so I go out to eat all the time. This is the best breakfast in town! Best corned beef hash I've ever had, best hash browns I've ever had, best grits my mom's ever had... Super service. Can't say enough good things!
Kelly King
It was delicious! Had brunch late Saturday morning it was packed and there was about a 20 minute wait, well worth the wait. I had the corned beef breakfast with poached eggs which were perfect. (Hate getting disappointing poached eggs, it's so sad) and grits with cheese. My boyfriend got the biscuits and gravy which also came with grits. Everything we got was fresh and delicious. Would deff go back when in the area!
Zachary Stevens
Went here with my wife and her friend who recommended it and absolutely LOVED the Hot Cat I ordered with a side of fries. Excellent savory grits balances the spicy peppers cooked with the cornmeal crusted cat fish. The fries were top notch as well and my wife's fried chicken was crispy, not overly greasy and delectable. We'll be back!
Michael Andryuk
A tasty, flavorful barbecue experience in the heart of Portland! Hot Suppa has a plethora of options and some great specials, with a decent selection of vegetarian options as well. The ambiance is moody and dark, with both bar seating and tables.
Highly recommended.
cwalkenisgod
A comfort food experience.
Hot Suppa is one of my go-to restaurants, especially in the colder months, because they do comfort food "right". Whether you go in for breakfast/brunch, lunch, or dinner - you're bound to find something delicious.
I tend to like their fried chicken dishes the best, but they make an amazing pulled pork eggs benedict that makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
The only reason(s) I docked it one star is because A. The Parking and B. The Size. It can sometimes be impossible to find a spot, and then even if you do - sometimes there is a half hour or an hour wait to get in. That should tell you how good the food is, though.
Overall, it's a perfect spot to have a meal centered around comfort food. I would highly recommend it.
josilynn reynolds
Really fun spot to check out! Breakfast dishes are not traditional and that's what I loved about it. Fried green eggs Benedict! Who would have thought? Short wait. The outside patio is heated and covered. Service was very friendly and welcoming. Spicy cajun bloody marys are worth it!
Anna Li
Best restaurant in Portland. You must go there. The food is amazing. Best comfort food at there. I will come back for sure
Darcy Forrest
Basically, this is the best spot in town to get real food, made with real ingredients, cooked perfectly, with love and attention. You've never seen such a perfect omelet in your life. Bloody mary's will rock your world, and their dinner menu, is off the charts. I come here way too much, (says my bank account), and am never disappointed. Staff is awesome, decor and art is awesome, and if you haven't been, I would HIGHLY recommend you check it out. These guys know how to serve up some amazing southern food.
Tristan Tucker
Between Hot Suppa, Press Hotel Brunch, and Becky's Diner, you can't go wrong for early food. In my opinion, those are the top 3, and Hot Suppa generally snags the top spot. They have an abundance of fresh, new specials and for the quality the price is relatively reasonable. Highly recommend anything with friend green tomatoes, Benedicts, hash, or event a famous bloody mary - if that's your thing. I didn't even know I liked grits or BM's till I started coming here years ago.
Erik Nhurb
If you're willing to wait through some long wait times this place is definitely worth it. We haven't had one thing on the menu that we wouldn't order again. Cajun Bloody Mary is pretty spicy (thought this was great) but they do offer a toned down version. Plenty of hot sauces to pick from on every table (would enjoy if they carried local Beast Feast though). Make sure you always check the specials board as there are some real treasures buried most of the time. Again the wait times are annoying at times but every trip to Portland deserves a stop here.
Wes Watkins
Great place for brunch. Very cozy atmosphere. I was really surprised to see they featured a mezcal bloody mary. Food and drinks were fantastic.
Sean Duffy
Absolutely delicious lunch! The wait was a little long but we expected that, especially since it is Memorial Day weekend. The outdoor sitting area is nice. Great beer selection as well. Lot of Maine locals!
Daniel Tat
Great decor, and service is clutch. I got an alcoholic drink and breakfast. The shrimp and grits are pinnacles every restaurant should do: make great food.
Get there early because you’ll have be waitlisted. If you’re headed there solo and don’t mind sitting at the bar. I will always remember my travels here when I hear “Portland”.
Mackenzie Volk
Don't know how this isn't the number one thing mentioned in the reviews, but the $1 oysters on the half shell during happy hour is AMAZING! My friend and I were in Portland for only 24 hours, but we were so impressed with the deal, we went back! We also got the deviled eggs and sauteed calamari, and the chocolate bread pudding, and it was all excellent!
Will Lynch
Inexpensive wine carafes and outstanding fried chicken! The nashville hot has a slow burn to it so make sure you get a beer to wash it down. The bread the cubano comes on is magnificent as well
Dominique Khoury
I am from Jersey, their Buscuits and Gravy were absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this place! Due to Corona the restaurant had outdoor dining and made sure that the table, seating and menus were disinfected between each use! Great place!
Amanda Maldonado
We ordered the mother clucker and the corned beef hash. I was a fan of the corned beef, but my partner was not blown away by the chicken. I have to praise the way they perfectly cooked my eggs. I always get nervous asking for over-medium as many establishments end up under cooking the eggs and i get grossed out... not here. Kudos! The grits were yummy, o.j. was on point. Our server was friendly and made us feel welcome. We were told we'd wait about 30 minutes for a seat, but ended up waiting over an hour. The wait time was not a big deal, but would have been much easier to deal with if we were given updates or if there were a way to text when the table was ready. Could have found a way to entertain ourselves instead of hanging around outside.
J K Van Nort
Great Breakfast/Brunch Menu; Dinner Menu as well. Cajun influence in Maine. Bartender & waitstaff friendly, efficient, and professional. Best eggs my wife ever had!
Michael Ethredge
To let you in on a secret, I am from Georgia, and I can, honestly, say that the biscuits and gravy and grits with my two poached eggs was one of the best I've ever had. Felt like i was eating in my grandmas kitchen. Absolutely delicious. Not to mention they have kombucha on tap.... who can say that?
Kate Sorensen-Young
Looking over the menu for Hot Suppa, I was prepared for it to be really great or really terrible and it did not disappoint. From the New Orleans-inspired cocktail list to the homemade cocktail sauce served with their Happy Hour dollar oysters (Oh my god, yes) to a pulled pork sandwich that was so good I was mad at it; Hot Suppa nails it at every turn.
The food is outstanding but unpretentious. The collards (something few restaurants ever get right) were cooked perfectly; flavorful and complex without being too bitter. Portions are big but not ridiculous so you definitely won't leave hungry. The drink menu is full of local beers and exquisite spirits and definitely is a gem all its own.
So happy with this amazing dinner.
McCain Moore
As a southerner I’m always hesitant to eat southern food outside of the south. However, I was impressed with the menu and execution here. Also it’s cool that they add there own little twist to some of the items (example: Maine Maple Sweet Tea). Was happy that the grits were stone ground, creamy, and adequately salted. Watched a (northern) friend fall in love with fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese which was exciting. The pulled pork maybe could be more vinegar/crushed red pepper forward like a true Carolina style sauce but the meat was still tender, flavorful, and delicious. The wait staff was very kind and hospitable m. Go eat here :)
Torrin McCarthy
I had a wonderful lunch here. The dinning room is small and has a relaxed atmosphere. The service I had was above average. All the waitstaff were both friendly and efficient. It was the first time I've tried a fried green tomato BLT and it was delicious. My brother had the falafel sandwich and that was also very good. A great place for a good meal!
Chirese Hoskie
A bit pricey considering the portions aren't very big but I did enjoy the meal. I recommend getting the real maple syrup and I wouldn't suggest the canadian "bacon". That could just be my personal preference though because to me, it was just like underdone ham. I had an apple cider mimosa that was alright but nothing to rave about. For the price, I could have gone without it. I enjoyed the waffle very much though, this was probably my favorite part of my meal.
Alex Potashinsky
We were quoted an hour wait by phone but only waited a minute which was nice. The food was just ok, only standout was the hash. The outdoor enclosed patio is pretty smelly from the heat lamps.
Caitlin Turchioe
Good food, great drinks but LONG wait for brunch (quoted 1.5hrs, waited 2.25hrs). With limited seating during COVID, it’s expected that where ever you go out to eat will have long wait times but specifically here at Hot Suppa so plan accordingly.
Phillip Mele
Great spot for breakfast tucked back a little from the old port. However it's location doesn't stop it from being busy. Get there early and enjoy the amazing food! If you can't make it to breakfast they have a killer dollar oyster special usually and their beer list is pretty on point!
Daniel Coes
Delicious breakfast in a cozy space. You can tell that there is a lot of care behind even the simplest breakfast items. Grits are sublime, perfectly cooked eggs, and house made corned beef hash that is 90% corned beef and perfectly seasoned. Loved it!
Pablo Vega Behar
Went in for brunch. Great espresso drinks. Food is pretty good... Not amazing, but I'd come back if I lived in Portland. Our waitress was super friendly.
Only complaint: hostess told us "30-35 minute wait" so I went next door to Rite Aid. Turns out it was only a 5-minute wait but they skipped our party since I wasn't there. If you can have such a large variance in wait times and will strictly only seat full parties, then let them know it could be anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. Don't just give the worst case scenario!
John Andrews
Best breakfast we had in Portland!
Lisa Choe
Went for brunch on a Monday morning. The wait was fairly short and food was amazing. I had the waffle and blueberry compote and my friend had the breakfast sandwich. It's a pretty small place and wait staff is nice. Also very filling!
Jai Kang
Seating is comfortable and decent amount for the city. The staff is great even when they're understaffed.
The food (for breakfast at least) has been fantastic and the menu is very focused. Nothing felt like an afterthought or gilding the lily. I think we've found a new haunt in Portland.
Ara Jerahian
My wife and I love Hot Suppa! We usually don’t stray far from the Mother Clucker, though we add an over easy egg to the chicken and cheese to the hash...YUM! It can get busy during breakfast/brunch, especially on the weekends, so come prepared to wait; you won’t be disappointed.
Scott Dearborn
Very busy with line out the door. I was alone so I sat at bar. $16.00 for cold eggs Benedict and hash browns. The food was very good and would give five stars if food wasn't cold. Coffee was excellent, which I consider important. No matter how good the meal is, if the coffee is bad, it makes a difference. I'd definitely go back.
I worked at The Last Unicorn in Waterville back in 1983-85. Hot Suppa brought back memories.
Gregory G
Exceptional breakfast!
Ann Berube
The food is delicious! One of my favorite brunch spots for sure. Staff is friendly and helpful. The shredded hash brown was different from other restaurants. Would definetly recommend stopping here for some good quality food.

I had the grilled cheese on marbled rye with tomato bisque and aside of mac and cheese. Fantastic. I'll definitely Italy be coming back the next time I'm in the area. Large parties be aware: this is a small restaurant. Our party (6 adults, one child) was split up into two booths at different ends of the restaurant. We didn't mind, but some groups might.
Allison Schultz
Staff are super friendly. Location is a bit small but they also offer bar and outdoor seating. Be aware, they do seat first come first serve and stick to their rule of the whole party needing to be present to be put on the list. We witnessed a couple seat themselves ahead of us outside, without confirming first with the hostess. She had offered us a table outside and when we went, found all tables full. We ended up being sat inside, but the staff asked the couple to get up to seat those who came before them. They were kind and courteous and want all of their customers to be treated fairly. Depending on the time you may run into a wait, but the food was definitely worth it to me.
Mike Stone
We ate here for breakfast, my wife and two daughters and I each got something different. Every thing we had was just incredible. The eggs benedict and fried chicken biscuit were especially good. When we are in Portland, this is a must-visit.
Austin M.
We went to lunch here on a Saturday. The wait for this place is about 45 minutes at best on most weekends, and is worse with dinner. I am unaware if they do call ahead seating or not. I ordered the "Mother Clucker" and it was very tasty and obvious that it was made fresh. The lunch menu is small but there is still something on there for everyone. I look forward to going back and trying out their dinner menu and oyster happy hour. Hot Suppa is a perfect example of dinning in Portland ME
David Howes
Awesome brunch, the corned beef hash was the best I've ever had.
Megan Moran
Ate there for lunch today after hearing lots of great reviews online & in magazines. Wait was 30-40 minutes at around 11:30 on a Sunday. Waiting area was a bit hot but once we were seated & served it was all worth while. Food was cooked to perfection, hands down... had burgers Fries, fried green tomatos & the BLT. Drinks were good & id love to go back ❤️
Clayton Roberts
Morning crowd, but easy seating for 1 at bar. Fried green tomato eggs Benedict with grits was amazing!
M
I came here for a weekend brunch.
Pretty good "cajun"-styled food. The back patio is great (tip: it's hidden from the street and restaurant, you must walk around outside to the right). The service was great. I found the pricing to be a little high for what it was (they charged me $2 for syrup on my waffle. Who in tha world eats a plain waffle!?!).
Nathan Berry
Great upscale breakfast that has many options instead of just the typical eggs, bacon and toast. The Bloody Marys are second to none and highly reccomended, even if you don't normally drink one. Staff is very friendly and polite. Get there earlier than you want to eat because there is normally a long line to in. The place is well worth any wait!
Manoj Niraula
Went there for happy hour/dinner. They have a good beer selection. Dollar oysters was a great deal. I wasn't impressed with their Nashville Hot Chicken.. It was not that spicy. 'Warning' on the menu for this hot chicken is totally not warranted.
Danielle Leoni
Hot Suppa offers tasty food at rock bottom prices! They are very consistent and offer a variety of classic and creative breakfast and lunch choices. We LOVE the Fried Green Tomatoes- so crispy! Their waffles are also excellent; very light and fluffy. Shredded home fries are also good; crispy and light!
The only downside is it is VERY small, so make sure to get there either early or after the 9-11 am breakfast rush. If not, you will be waiting about 45 minutes for a table. Parties of 4 or more are hard to fit, but it's perfect for 2!
Ed Hatch
I had the Scrambalaya, which was AMAZING!! I couldn't finish because it filled me up so well. The drinks were a bit pricey, otherwise this would be a 5 for me
Drew Fernandez
Pulled pork benedict is the best brunch item I've ever had. The wait can be long for brunch but you better believe it's going to be worth it. You actually can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I've only been for breakfast and brunch but everything from the service to the food is always 5+ stars. Recommendations: burrito, pulled pork benny, omelettes, brioche french toast, all specials on the board on the back wall, and a mocha latte to top off your amazing meal
Darryl King
I have been coming to the Portland area for some time and me and my wife tried Hot Suppa for breakfast. The a bit small and loud, the server was good but what we had was just like anywhere else. Maybe I need to get some lunch items. Not bad but not I was hoping for in this culinary city.
Courtney Hugo
Great dinner! Fun, cozy spot in a good location.
Rob Moore
Very small place, very long wait. It's pretty good, but coming from the actual south not that special. Why come to Maine for southern food? That being said if you are craving proper grits def the spot.
Darren Rushford
We are from Ohio and just passing though and we're looking for a place to eat a gentleman recommended Hot Suppa. When you walk in it is small and eclectic. The menu has different options. We ordered the Hot Cat and fried shrimp in a wonton shell. Absolutely amazing. The food had a creole influence. The staff are awesome. A MUST try
Khin H
Omg their waffles are amazing! The tastiest one I’ve ever tried! The host and servers are incredibly nice. I love this place and highly recommend to come for a breakfast!
Amelia DeMelo
Went here for New Year’s Eve and had the most absolute best time. Our waitress was amazing, the food was great (fried chicken and Mac & cheese), and the dessert was absolute perfection. The atmosphere was cozy and the service was excellent.
ChronicallyClever
Seriously the best corned beef hash I have had to date. Respectfully handled my food allergy. Very good gluten free cornbread, wish they sold this by the loaf though!!!!!! Long wait most times relating to small seating area. They have locks on the bathrooms so those from the community/public/ or homeless will not use them. I thought this was disrespectful and overkill, also a pretty good way to get your wall urinated on. Alas, I don't have to clean the bathrooms though, they give the codes to customers upon request.
Steph Garcia
They have take out breakfast on the weekends before 9 am! I had a really great egg sandwich and a small coffee to go. Super friendly, efficient staff! If you're looking for an egg, bacon and cheese sandwich on Congress this place is amazing.
Lissette Victoriano
Go-to breakfast! Too bad the wait is typically about 45 minutes. The bagel and smoked salmon is delicious! The Bloody Mary can be spicy to closes your throat spicy depending on when you get it. I recommended getting the cold brew on nitro- it needs nothing.
Oren Malka
Sometimes you see tons of good reviews and then you go to a place and you're like "I don't get it". Well this is NOT one of those situations. Everything was excellent!! My wife got the fried green tomato bennedict and even a hard core carnivore like me would absolutely order that anytime! The bernaise was slightly different than most I have had (a tiny bit of a bite of spice), but it was probably the best I ever had. And the same for the corn beef hash. This was mostly just perfectly prepared corn beef, rather than the hash you get at most places which usually include much more potato in their recipes. Seriously...this ranks as some of the best breakfast places ever, including any and all traveling I have done.
Mike Cooper
We stopped for brunch on a weekday. The place was busy but we had a short wait.
The food was tasty and well prepared. The staff were aware, friendly, and familiar with working at their popular spot.
Jeff Howe
Just dining alone for dinner, sat at the bar. Good comfort food : deviled eggs, a roasted beet salad, and a Cubano sandwich. And a Maine Beer beer. All good, and so filling that I skipped dessert (tempting though it was), but had a double espresso instead. Need to try them out for breakfast soon!
Davi Smitti
Restaurant Week--we got the prix fixe items:
Appetizer: Andouille sausage soup was succulent--a bowl of that and a chunk of bread would be a terrific meal all by itself.
Entree:
--we thought the Cajun meatloaf was light/tender/melt-in-mouth deliciousness and even better was the side of whipped bourbon sweet potatoes.
--The scallops atop greens were perfect.
Desserts:
--peach cobbler: sweet, light/cakey topping, nice strong flavored fruit.
--ginger cake was dense, not too sweet, big ginger flavor with enough molasses taste to give it a wonderful richness, a huge fave!!!!! It got two thumbs up from a not-usually-huge-on-ginger person!

I spent my birthday weekend in Maine and was recommended Hot Suppa by the front desk staff of the Westin Portland harborview hotel. Great service from the time we walked in until we left. Our breakfast was perfect, cooked to order, simple and served hot. This is a great place, next time I'm in Maine we're definitely coming back.
Kimberly Rogerson Carl
The food and the drinks were delicious and the staff were all super friendly. We had the eggs benedict with fried green tomatoes and a french omelet with ham and cheese. Unbelievably tasty!
Nathaniel Pendleton
Really tasty everything. The hamburger, fried green tomato BLT, and corn beef hash were all superlative.
Revised my review from 4 up to 5. Best breakfast in town, although if you're just looking for coffee and pastries I'd head to Tandem, across the street.
Josh Howe
They have plaques on the wall that will tell you the awards that they have won. This is the best breakfast that I had while visiting Portland. I split " The Mother Clucker" and their famous Corn Beef Hash. I wasn't expecting it to be nearly this good. This is a must have if you are in the area!
Tom Ellefsen
Their corned beef is the best I've ever had, and everything else is perfect too. The fried green tomatoes are nicely dense and crispy, the mac & cheese is generous and creamy, and the bloody marys are spicy and perfect. Seriously, one of my, if not THE, top fave spots in Portland. Love it here :)
Jordan Shoener
Went Sunday during prime hours so we waited quite a bit, but man oh man was it worth it! Bloodys we're great, our homies got cool stuff in theirs, ours was missing it, but all in all stellar experience
William Gerundo
Great restaurant and staff. We ordered take-out for a group of 8 and everything was perfectly prepared and organized. They even took the time to separate the poached eggs for the eggs benedict.
Michelle “QZA” Kirley
Amazing food. Unique quality menu. Fried green tomatoes and grits are beyond delicious. Rich smooth coffee. It's tiny so be prepared for a wait but so worth it.
David Harper
Had one of the best burgers of my life here. Order the double double and you won't be disappointed. It can be a bit sloppy, but that's the charm of it.
The place can be a bit cramped at times, however the staff is charming and helpful.
Anthony N
The menu is unique and covers all the bases. Flavor is savory and balanced throughouy all the dishes. You must try this place if your you are in town !
Morgan Weidemann
Excellent food and service. The fried green tomato benedict was out of this world!
Marlana Harrison
Saturday brunch, wait was only 40 minutes at 12pm. Meals and drinks were delicious, the maitake & egg special was simple but perfect.
Icee Yu
I cant believe I came all the way to Maine to eat chicken, but it ended up being the best decision ever. Their chicken has such a special taste to it, and when you bit into it, the flavor goes deep into the meat. I would be a regular if I lived around this resturant.
Joe Sato Murphy
Loved their Nashville Fried Chicken, please bring it back!
In the meantime the mother clucker is pretty good too
Neil
Great food, comfortable atmosphere, reasonable prices. I really liked eating here, I highly recommend their breakfast foods.
I would call ahead, they are in high demand locally and it's normal to have a small wait.
Dawa Sherpa
Delicious food! Lots of options for vegetarian. Great service!
Flavius Petre
Great food, very busy place, always a waiting list.
Austin Dowler
Fantastic meal, got the fried chicken and biscuits and the wife got the waffle plate. Best breakfast in a long time.
Monira Monir
Got take out from this place and was not disappointed. The chicken and waffles from here were so good and we decided to try the hot chicken and it was as spicy as they claimed it would be, but still manageable and tasty.
Emmett Ingram
Beautiful Portland hotspot with a brunch that feels like it’s straight out of a hip New York restaurant. Fried green tomatoes were a highlight. Enjoy the latest issue of Up Portland while you wait! Can get crowded during events and peak hours.
Wayne Cadman
Great place with great food and they have an an awesome dog and cat friendly enclosed patio outback! The food has been excellent every time I have gone. Not sure how many that is now!
Catalina Calina
Its a small, but clean and chic place to have breakfast. The staff is wonderful and the food is amazing, very carefully made and very tasty. I can say that this was the best breakfast I ever had. This is definitely a place to came back to.
Maddie Conway O'Reilly
Fantastic food and very charming space. We came for breakfast on a Friday. It didn't seem too busy but earlier is definitely better. The space looks too small for a big group, but they have a patio that I didn't see. Plan to walk here if you can.
Ryan Glass
Eggs benedict were good, waffle was great! Hash browns were a bit of a let-down but the rest made up for it. Good service on the patio for a weekend brunch.
Jayé Willi
Great food and drinks. It was worth the wait.
Rich Cannava
Excellent service and food. Had the catfish special from the board and it was excellent! Wife and son had an amazing cubano. Highly recommend for families.
Ryan Clark
Had the highly recommended corned beef hash and was not disappointed. We wanted to come back a few days later, but the wait was a little too long. Try to go on a weekday for brunch if on vacation (we did this and had no wait).
Will
Ate here over 3 months ago. I woke up this morning and randomly remembered how Hot Suppa was probably my favorite breakfast experience I’ve had. Food was creative but nailed the fundamentals, staff was great too.
Norvel Eagleton
Fantastic
Staff is awesome, real attentive and knowledgeable about the food along with great service.
Very good appetizers and a outstanding dinner menu.
Would recommend too others and bring family, friends and visitors for an enjoyable meal.
RZ Film
Fantastic. Best breakfast place I've ever eaten at. Great food. Great friendly and attentive servers.
April Li
The Corn beef dish and blueberry waffles were amazing! The blueberry waffles were light and fluffy. ☁️🧇 Price is worth it; ! …
John Chesebrough (Greaseymonkies)
Our favorite comfort food spot in Portland. Just park at the right aid right down the street. Very quick and polite service and the food is so so good. If you're looking for a fresh take on southern comfort food this is the place for you.
Jill McDonald
Different types of food. I had the butternut squash Mac & Cheese that the waitress reccomended. It was so good!! First time trying oysters. They were delicious!!
Chelsea M
One of our best meals in Portland. Unique, delicious, and filling breakfasts, great staff, and good coffee. You will likely wait for a table but it is 1000% worth it.
Tiana Platz
Tip: Get there early if you want to get on -street parking and also avoid a wait- but it's also well worth a wait. The maple latte was like liquid euphoria, their hash is to die for (with real corned beef, not the alpo looking canned hash that most places serve), everything is cooked and prepared to absolute perfection from the eggs to the home fries to the toast. I don't know what they put in their butter but I'm pretty sure it's magic. Even my toddler who insists on his food being unadulterated was dipping his waffle in the whipped butter! We will definitely be going back the next time we're in the area.
Annette U
If you can get a seat at this place you won't be disappointed. The line to get in was a city block long! Food and service are great. Space is tiny, though. Rated four stars because of price. Though good, this place is a bit expensive
Jennifer Craft
Outstanding service and incredibly made food. The avocado toast and biscuits and gravy are to die for. A must if you're in Portland!!
Seacoast Maine
Good place to eat, a lot of locals like it. If your looking for fun built up southern food. I grew up down south and wanted to try the chicken because I heard it was good, but they were out. So I'll try it again another time and see.
eric warren
A must visit in Portland. Make a reservation for dinner. Limited space and parking but well worth it. Their spin on southern comfort food with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Hot chicken is hot!
P Sandlin
Food generally excellent. Stay away from the Nashville chicken insanely hot and I like spice. Too much for enjoyment.
The corned beef hash and the mother clicking chicken are outstanding.
mrrrniceguy
Hot support is such a cute little spot. The food was delicious! Call ahead for a reservation, this place is very liked.
Michael S
We visited Hot Suppa a few weeks ago, we each had a specialty cocktail and an appetizer.
The service and the food was great! This is a fairly small establishment and usually there is a wait when I have been here.
Colin Atwood
When people come to visit Portland, ME they want to experience why it's called one of America's foodiest small cities. So when friends of mine ask me to recommend my favorite spot - this is it.
Here's the jist. Nestled on Congress Street's west-end neighborhood in a classic brick brownstone, this Cajun influenced firecracker invites you in with the smells of smoked pork and delicious tasty bacon. Inside, the world's smallest restaurant. Expect a wait - especially on the weekend. Tip for newcomers? Drop your name, take a walk to CBD and grab an espresso. By the time you're back, the host will seat you. It's small. On purpose. Funky art decorates the walls, with a tall ceiling and loud ambiance. Expect curt, friendly waitstaff to get your order quick...but not without a friendly demeanor. The drinks are decent from a small bar. Excellent mimosas, even better with an extra vodka kicker. The big specials board changes often, with something for just about everyone.
My favorite dish? Eggs Benedict with pulled pork and friend green tomatoes. Good lord, I can't get enough! Whatever your favorite, just know that it's the atmosphere that locks this place in for the win. There's just something about it that makes you want to keep coming back for more.
Perfect stop for out-of-towners looking for a delicious and fun brunch experience. Family-friendly, too. Hot Suppa! rocks my world!
