Reviews of Bistro 23

I met my husband and daughter for lunch because they work in the area. We were looking for a sit down place and this place was recommended. You walk in and order - then find a seat - it was crowded & loud but it was also Friday at noon. Limited drink options but a number of different types to choose from. We ordered food and sat down. Food arrived after a wait (again not surprising because it was busy). My choice - chicken Parmesan sandwich with chips was proportionate - I loved the red sauce. My husband pick the “Ham & Avo” sandwich with chips (I didn’t try because I’m not a fan of avocado) & my daughter got the brick chicken. Presentation was spot on and I was dying to get a bite of those potatoes but when I did - I was disappointed as they were cold. The chicken it self - which was piping hot - had great flavor. Overall it’s a very chic place in an area you wouldn’t expect. Give it a try

The bolognese was awesome! The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce was perfectly balanced. I ate it all! My mom enjoyed her burger as well.
The cookie was tasty but could’ve been more gooey for my taste.
Overall, a great little spot!

I was looking for a quality eatery near the airport and found one! I was impressed immediately when I walked in. Very clean and you have options to sit inside with multiple dining rooms, out front or on the patio.
I had a special request today, eating only meats. Angelo was more than happy to accommodate my needs. The staff there were great and I was impressed with the over experience. So I enjoyed the Pork chop, the Brick Chicken as well as the grass fed Bistro Burger. Everything was cooked to perfection today. The burger was medium rare, the chicken was seasoned nicely and the pork was phenomenal. I liked everything but give the nod to the pork chop as my favorite.
I highly recommend this place. Come out and support your local businesses!

Fantastic experience. Stopped in for the first time with only about an hour to eat, and was able to be in-and-out within 45 minutes and not feeling rushed. Service was fantastic, food was amazing, and the atmosphere was exactly what I wanted.

Happened to find this place while heading to the Grotto. Buried off 122nd near Airport Way. Totally a hidden gem! Had the pizza and brussel sprouts side. Limited menu, but plenty of options. Truly handmade quality food
Mike D
Food was outstanding. Great flavor, portions were large. Service was superb. Great ambiance.

UPDATE 7 months later: So if going back at the next opportunity to visit again isn't the best review you can give I don't know what else I can say! Was NOT disappointed! food was just as good, service was just as friendly and I cannot believe at 6:45pm on a Friday night that the place was not packed?! In fact there were several empty tables. Portland, you are missing out if you are not frequenting this outstanding establishment!
Original review: Wow!!! Amazing food! Super friendly staff! Great atmosphere! Fast service. Food really was exceptional! If we are back that way will definitely stop in again! Thanks for a great meal and wonderful visit!

Bistro 23 is the nicest place in the area for dinner! The ambiance is wonderful, inside and out. The patio is very relaxing with iron troughs for planters and little lights hanging on the trellis. We had the The Pig in the Woods pizza and it was great!
Kelsey Betsill
This place is soooo good. Hard to find good healthy food around this area but this is a must try. My kids love this place to! Try the Brick Chicken and the salad special of the week
William Barnes
I really like the relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. I knocked it a star because their dishes could use more meat on them. The bread is really good on both the sandwiches and pizza, but it's more bread than meat.
Brian D'Angelo
This is one of our local go-to’s. They have great farm-to-table options. The menu is small, but everything we’ve had there had been amazing. And they rotate specials periodically. We had the most amazing pork chop last week. We much prefer Bistro 23 over any chain.
Sarah B.
Wanted a local experience for our first evening on vacation - saw the high rating and decided to give this place a shot. Was not disappointed. The food was great and fresh, and the service was prompt and friendly. Enjoyed excellent food without having to dress up - win/win!
Adam Gilson
Delicious food, casual atmosphere,nice service.
Get the pork chop!!!

Love coming here very peaceful and relaxing layout. The good is soo good your taste buds won't no what to do. Always have a fresh selection of local brews on tap.
They've changed things up a bit. Probably because of covid I'd imagine. Food is still top notch.

Green Pie and the Seared Polenta 💚💛
I think your pizza crust is the best I have ever had!

Decided to try a new (to us) restaurant near PDX. Bistro 23 was terrific! Fast friendly service. Good choice of food and drink items. Started by sharing a delicious small Caesar salad, then a Chicken Parmesan sandwich- huge and very flavorful, and a Ham and avocado sandwich stuffed with ham on a tasty chewy roll, with jalapeños for a kick with the avocado and greens.
We'll be back to try the pizza next. Thanks Bistro 23 crew!
MaryAnn Corrigan
Really nice surprise. Looking for a place to eat near the airport. I highly recommend this place. Farm to table bistro. Had the pear salad and hamburger and both delicious. Decided to have rhe tiramisu for dessert and was not disappointed. Will come here again.
Cole McCune
I don't review restaurants often, I had to. I had the best bleu cheese burger I've ever had. I guarantee you these portion sizes and dining experience is worth 10 times the price of this food. Lovely staff, 10/10 doesn't get better than this folks!
Terry Gilson
Went there with my wife and son , both food critics in their own right. We had 2 sides, Procuitto and nuts, and the Burrata. For entrees I had the Bistro Burger, my wife the pork chop an my son had the Cacio. Everything was absolutely wonderful, fresh tasty, so good!
My wife and son usually finds fault with something on the menu but they discovered our meal to be next to perfect.
My own amateur critic tendencies found the brocollini to be undercooked but that pork chop was one of the best I ever had. (she shared).
I totally recommend this restaurant to anyone who understands and enjoys fine food.
Dan Ashe
What a nice little find, close to the airport. Brick chicken was superb. Ham and Avo sandwich my friend had was apparently crazy good. All enjoyed with an excellent bottle of cremant (sparkling wine).
E Goodwin
Food portions are actually normal sized. Burger cooked to a nice medium. Service is a little light since you order & pay before seating.
Rob H.
If you're staying at or near the Portland Airport and are looking for a fine meal that's not a chain restaurant this is your place.! I travel for business and enjoy good food when I find it, especially when it is at a reasonable price. Bistro 23 doesn't disappoint. I've been here a few times and the pork chop is excellent definitely a "come-back-again item" that should be on your not to miss list. I've also enjoyed their Cubano at lunch..definitely a favorite as well. Overall I'd say this place is "Simple Done Really Well"... not overly fancy inside, open kitchen that you can see what's what, you order upfront and they bring you the meal. It has a cozy local feel and as I've mentioned...good food. They have a staple bar with all the basics covered and about 8 beers on draft. It's easy to get to and plenty of parking. If you find yourself in the area put this on the list of places to try.

Several small bite choices, plus a nice selection of salads, sandwiches and pizzas to choose from. Food is sourced from local farms with a seasonal menu. The menu was interesting and the food fresh. Simple industrial decor, yet warm and inviting. Staff was super friendly and genuinely interested in making sure you were happy with your dish. Must have: stuffed dates small bite
N Pepin
Excellent food and staff!!! I have been twice :) I have had the Cuban twice (it's that good!) and I have also tasted the pork chop (excellently done!), mashed potatoes side (amazing), and the burger (great!)

I was in Portland for training and I came to eat at bistro 23 with coworkers and I give Bistro 23 two thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻. Their sandwiches are BOMB A/F, A bit pricey but I think they’re well worth it I had the meatball banh mi, I think the pickled veggies made that sandwich taste soooo good. I’ll be back in mid February for more training and I will definitely go back.

Bistro 23 makes little sense to a local when thinking about its location but it makes all the sense in the world to someone who flew to Portland who is looking for quality food near the airport, or near their airport hotel, or on the way to the airport. Thankfully this local lives nearby and the food here has been great on every trip. The burrata, the pizzas, the potatoes, the drink menu, etc. The food is shockingly good, the staff incredibly friendly, and the indoor and outdoor seating spaces are ample and comfortable. It’s a bonus to sit on the patio and watch planes land. If this restaurant was closer in to the city it would probably do amazing but I’m also very content to have it stay right where it is just a few minutes from my house. Think of it as a well kept secret and then come try it and tell all of your friends.
Sarah Cayton
Super friendly place with great outdoor fall seating and plenty of room inside. Food was artisan, not the flavor profile we were going for but fantastic! Quality date lunch!
Isaac Ward
Honestly I was expecting a boneless pork chop and wasn't disappointed whatsoever. The sweet glaze on the pork literally made my mouth water like this Portland rain. The brussel sprouts were seared PERFECTLY and paired very well with the pork. I also ordered a side of potatoes expecting some red potatoes baked in an oven but I got this delicious baked potato that was mashed then seared on a flattop and it's honestly my favorite way to eat a potato now. The Margherita pizza was fresh and crispy exactly how I like it. I could've had a little more mozzarella but that's the only complaint. I'm from Orange County CA and this food is really up to par with places in Southern California, New York & San Francisco. My compliments to the chef and staff at Bistro 23.
Krista Nolen
Bistro 23 is indeed one of the nicer cafes in this area, and we do enjoy their food, but it is starting to feel a bit pretentious.
Pros:
-The food is usually delicious and interesting.
-The food is typically locally sourced and organic or ethical meat when possible
-The menu rotates seasonally
-It has a full bar and a 21+ only area with a cozy fireplace and booths, as well as a more kid friendly side of the other half of the restaurant
-It looks very nice and welcoming, with a more trendy look inside than the industrial/airport around it should warrant.
-They do have an outside area, although it's right under the airport path so the passing planes are VERY loud out there
Cons:
-It is expensive. I paid $15 for a small plate of pasta with no sides. Alcoholic drinks were $10 each which is crazy considering you can get a well drink for $2.50 at local bars in the area.
-No kids menu although they do serve enough sides I can usually find things for the kids to eat. This feels more catered to business travelers, which is fine, just be aware.
-No real salad dressing options. They have 3 vinaigrettes they make in house, and don't offer anything else. No blue cheese, no ranch, etc. Not great for those who like side salads.
-Their $10+ sandwiches just come with a bag of stale chips as a side, no French fries or salad.
All in all, if you want a more upper class feel to your airport layover lunch, this is probably a good choice. If you want tasty drinks and food and don't mind paying more, check it out. If you have kids or want reasonable drinks with friends during happy hour, there are other restaurants and bars down airport way that will work.

Lovely bistro, amazing food. Surprisingly intimate outdoor patio. All around wonderful dining experience. Don't miss the root beer! It was delightful.
carol healey
We had a wonderful dinner here complete with cocktails, reasonably priced entrées and delicious pizza. One of the best meals during our 10 day tour of Oregon.
Valentin Molnar
It is a sparse menu, feels a bit out of the way. The food and service however is so nice, very chill atmosphere and some real good eats. Very recommend.
Wes Wahlin
Pig in the woods pizza was super tasty. Crust was perfect amount of crunch and a slight chewy, well seasoned and an overall perfection of ham, arugula and goat cheese. Tomato basil soup was also rockin! My only nit is they were out of the porter so I drank water. Great environment, music, lighting, laid back and super fresh
moabfool
For what we paid I expected more. I know prices are going up, but the food looked and tasted like a Betty Crocker recipe made by an adequately competent home cook. I've been to restaurants all over the world that I have to go back to when I'm in that area. If/when I come back to Portland I'll be looking for another restaurant to fill that niche. It was a solid meh at $15 a plate. I had the bolonese and the burrata.
Phil Garrod
Great location, have been here many times, great food selections, great presentation, and always fantastic flavors. What a gem. A+
Lucas Eibensteiner
Great place to eat.....food was very good. The atmosphere was very inviting. The team there all took alot of pride in what they were doing. The service was quick even during the lunch hour !! The food on the menu was a twist on comfort food .... classics with gourmet ingredients. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for a quick bite to eat for everyone.
Deborah Bachrach
This place has delicious food. I ordered the bolognese, it was flavorful with perfectly al dente! The price was perfect for the quality and amount of food.
My friend ordered a pizza and she found it delicious. She likes eating classic American food. This place satisfied my need for a semi-foodie experience and her need for simple and familiar food.
Another star was given cause this is the only worth while place near the airport hotels. I’m not a chained food restaurant fan so finding this place was finding a gem!
The atmosphere is welcoming; it’s modern and clean additionally the staff is pleasant and friendly.
Jeff Searles
I had the chicken parm sandwich. The thin, crispy, pan fried chicken breast was prefect. Burrara was great too.
Nicky B
I went to this spot because a close friend recommended it. Did not disappoint! The pizza was bomb, the chicken Parmesan sandwich was the best I ever had. The building was nice, and had a warm, calm vibe. ImGood service, great food. I wish I could have tried more of the menu, but it was a one time stop while visiting Oregon. I’ll definitely be back!

To say the food was amazing would be doing it an injustice. The experience started when we got our food to go and the intoxicating aroma filled our vehicle. My wife placed her whole head in the bag and inhaled because she could not resist wanting to be fully enveloped in the smells. Now most to go food can look a little displeasing as it's not how its meant to be displayed but it was not the case here. My chicken parm sandwich was massive, and beautiful. My wife's chicken was a piece of art. I could wait no longer. It was love at first bite. I barely stopped to breathe not wanting to have a moment without the flavors in my mouth any longer than I had to. Upon finishing my meal I sat covered in marinara and cheese breathing heavily, as I had just went on a flavor journey. My taste buds and I had gone to another plane of existence. I savored the last bits of flavor as I realized it was all gone. Sadly this moment in time had to come to an end. This was an experience that I shall cherish for years to come. My children will know of this place and I will never stop ensuring everyone I can find ventures to this holy grail of food.
Ryan Poertner
Prok chop was to die for. I asked the waiter prior to ordering if it was any good and he shared a story with me of a gentleman who was 70 years old and told him it was probably the best pork chop he's ever had. On that recommendation I ordered it, and boy was he right. It was prepared perfect. The glaze added a great flavor to it that I've never had before.
I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to eat dinner here.
crazypeterson
I had a seamingly simple grilled cheese with tomato basil soup. However, it was anything but simple. The sandwich was ooey gooey, cheesy, greatness hugged by buttery, perfectly toasted, bread! And the soup was so comforting and not overly acidic, which you find in most tomato soup. It was creamy with hints of basil and parmesan. Absolutely delicious.
Custom Congnition
The ribs here are great, the pizza is legit and the salad id's delicious.
Andrew Stone-Zanelli
I went to eat here with very high expectations from previous reviews and I wanted it to be a 5 star place but it just isn’t. Burger was a little dry and over cooked but still tasty. Beer could definitely have been colder and it’s really cool to see the option of having a flight. I think with a few minor adjustments this place would be fantastic. Definitely would come again.

PDX Travelers - two years later - for travelers or locals this is a real find in the Airport area. I reviewed Bistro 23 two years ago and just revisited it this week. While the menu has changed slightly, the high quality of food and attentive, courteous service has not changed.
I continue to experience a good portion of "Portland vibe" with very well-prepared food and an excellent beverage list (their beer and wine by the glass selections were very good), this is a very pleasant food and beverage opportunity away from downtown. The soups were excellent, the pasta, brick chicken and pork chop was very tasty, The grilled brussel sprouts were made and spiced close to perfection.
Within a short drive from the Airport or any of the Airport hotels - just off Airport Way, if you are looking for an alternative to Airport, hotel or fast or chain food, try this “close to the Airport” establishment. Even after two years, it is worth the trip.
Burritt Hess
Fantastic little farm to table cafe. Our family got Green Pies, the Beet Salad and the Ham and Avo sandwich with a side of the Split Pea Soup. Food was fresh and appropriately hot and tasty. Wait after ordering at the counter and being seated was about 10 mins (we were there at 2pm). Price point is good for quality of food. If we are back in Portland anytime we’d definitely come back to explore the menu further!
J
Inner Portland food in outer southeast. This place is not easy to notice and feels like a hidden gem. Staff is friendly. Outdoor seating is nice but they have a bee problem. They need to warn people or take care of the problem.
Erick Nagy
Amazing food options. Affordable pricing. Quick and friendly service. The best lunch option in the area. Too bad they took the chicken risotto off the menu, it was one of the best.
Sloan Hoffer
Delicious food kind staff and lovely atmosphere
Tiffany Schaffer
I was beyond pleasantly surprised. I had the brick chicken with truffle smashed potatoes which was perfectly cooked and had amazing flavor. My niece had the cheese toast with tomato soup. That is literally the BEST cheese sandwich ever! I ended up ordering another to share with my other niece! The drinks are very well made and tasty. I 100% recommend eating here. I will be back!
George Nance
Wanted restaurant for dinner near but not inside airport. This place was 8 minutes away. Wife and I enjoyed dinner and wine then went to airport for late night flight. Prices reasonable, food imaginative. Order at counter, go to table, short wait for order. I would go back.
Carol E. Richards
Delicious! Fast, fresh, great quality local products transformed into the best meal we've found near PDX. We loved Brick Chicken and Pork Chop entrees with veggie and those divine garlic smash potatoes, wow! We'll be back.
Casey Springstead
Terrific food, friendly and quick service …just what we needed before our flight out of Portland the next day. Highly recommend.
Bruno Rubio
Food and service were great! We had a large group and we ordered several pizzas, they were all great!
Tristan Martin
Delicious food, very friendly and fast service. Prices reasonable. Glad we found this place!
S O
Although the sandwiches that we ordered were supposedly “good”, my choices were less than great from a gluten-free standpoint. Small portions of strawberry arugula salad with too much dressing and a surprising combination of roasted corn, tomato and cucumber in a vinegar salad. Not exactly what I was hoping for when I pictured “organic vegetables “ in my head. Guess I should have asked. A small cheese pizza only ended up half eaten as it was hard as a rock. Service was adequate.
Slavic Kashubin
Wonderful food!! We come here with our coworker quite a bit and we enjoy it every time. Nice staff, even though Covid that did a good job. I really recommend this place to everyone.
Patty Corrigan
Very pleased with every aspect of Bistro 23. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic- pizzas were delish, my husband loved his burger (it was perfectly cooked!), and the caprese sandwich was perfect (bun was soft on the outside and toasted inside for a nice crunch). Roasted veggies perfectly cooked. Sweets were great too! All around such a wonderful meal!!
Chris Slinkard
amazing food, nice quite place, excellent selection of beer and eats what more could you ask for?
Charger Forme
I had the pork chop and brussel sprouts. Both were quite good. Very casual atmosphere. Order at the counter and they bring you the food when it's ready. I'll go here again the next time I'm in town.
Donna Mullins
Thank goodness this restaurant survived COVID. (Except for the fabulous ribs.) Very close to the airport and right next door to a truck rental place, this is a restaurant for for foodies. Great pizza and sandwiches. A few very good entrees like the brick chicken and pork chop. The cacio de pepe is sooooo good. And the staff? Proud of their food and friendly. I eat here whenever I visit Portland. I have yet to have anything lower than good, mostly much better than good. Extra bonus for being a great spot for travelers to dine alone. A consistently outstanding restaurant!
su zi
Okay, listen. I just had the best, amazing, stellar pork chop of my entire life. Seriously. Please order the truffle garlic smashed potatoes on the side [and take a few bites of those first, before diving into the balsamic glaze on the entrée]. I'm having a full on blissful spiritual experience right now. Also: They use the correct cherries in their Manhattan. Service is professional, welcoming, attentive, top-notch. Really love this hidden gem.
Andrew Zachar
Great food, great service, one of the best spots in the neighborhood!
Mark Nelson
Nice clean small diner.
Menu limited but all items of good quality.
Excellent pizza
Good fast service
Brent Dunkin
Just moved from Cali and our first dinner was Bistro 23. It was awesome!! Bolognese, salad, pizza, Brick Chicken… I recommend them all.
Shaz Lynch
As always, the bistro does not disappoint! Today I took a chance and got the grilled peaches with candied pecans with arugula and goat cheese crumbles salad. It was positively DELICIOUS 🤤. Didn't help that it was a stupendous day to have lunch outside 🌤️✨ have yet to have any kind of bad experience here 🤷🏻♂️. I do recommend! …
Heidi Sheldon
Welcoming staff, fresh food & fast service. Great for a quick bite or business lunch. Easy parking and conveniently located.
Lola Ball
I loved the pizza. I will definitely come back soon.
Nathan Patrick
Tasty and fast. Nice outdoor area. It can be hard to find decent restaurants near an airport, and this one delivers.
Jason Kinzer
Been here many times in the last 2 years, everything I've tried on the menu has been beyond expectations
roseanna nelson
The food is amazing! High compliments to the chef and the staff is great too!
Tater B
Stopped here to give it a try. We are sure happy we did!! Great atmosphere, WONDERFUL food. I had the chicken parm sandwich with Ceasar salad; hubby had the pasta. The flavor of the meat sauce was spot on and I really liked the texture and thickness of the pasta. My sandwich was moist, and loads of flavor. We will be back when we find ourselves in this area.
AJ O
Amazing food and service. They have great seating for outdoor and indoor dining. Ryan has been working every time we visit and is an absolute delight. Overall great experience every time we visit! Most importantly, EVERY SINGLE dish and drink we have tried has been amazing!
Tin Nguyen
I don’t know how they got the bread so crunchy soft. The flavors are outstanding. The sandwiches are also very good. Would go back
Ed Williams
Excellent food. Service was great. Only dropped one star for the ignorant mask signs on the door. Will go back if ever in the area again. My wife rarely comments on the food, and she kept going on and on.
Jaime Hammon
Every single time I come here with a new group, they are always happy and full leaving! Ryan is a fantastic server!! He not only is friendly but caught us being overcharged by another server! Food is amazing! I love how small the menu is.
Mike Edwards
The food was okay, but I am not a fan of ranch style service.
David Stickles
Great food for a business lunch. Some great choices from pizza to sandwiches to some really down home cooking, with quite a flair of ribs or chicken. Had the small plate of ribs and they were delicious. Have also tried a couple salads and toy can't go wrong. Everything tastes fresh and made to order.
Andrei T
It's on the better side of food quality. I enjoyed the simplicity of the bistro burger. But.. a sad 7 kettle like chips for a side, no fries available. For what was served, the price was almost double of what it should of been.
Lynelle West Hatton
We love this place. The only bummer is that they're closed on Sunday — but after all, who can work 24/7?!
***Update***
My friend and I were seated on the patio late last summer. Access from the sidewalk was restricted and table tops were full. We had to scramble indoors due to a bee allergy and discovered less than 10 minutes later that my wallet and iPhone were left hanging on the back of the chair.
All other guests remained the same and our table had been bussed, so we assumed the phone had been turned in.
It had not.
Our wait staff had already left for the night, but all other staff did everything they could to help find the phone, including calling it numerous times — but though fully charged, it went directly to voicemail.
The next day I thought to sign into my iCloud account and try Find My Phone. The last signal was from an apartment complex on Burnside less than two miles away and about 10 minutes after we reported it missing.
My 5-star rating remains the same. The food and wine were excellent and the staff who saw me through the ordeal were extraordinarily kind, caring, compassionate and concerned.
So I still highly recommend Bistro 23. Just watch your wallet and phone!
Samantha Cave
Great food and service, the cocktails were tasty and pretty strong. The burrata appetizer was amazing, and so was the polenta. Chicken parm sandwich looked delicious. Only complaint is that the bolognese was incredibly salty. I'll be back to try more
Brian J Ferry
The burger at this place is my favorite, I love the brioche buns and the meat always being cooked and seasoned to perfection. They also do to go mason jars of craft beer for the same price as a pint anywhere else. I haven’t had their chicken entree in a while (it’s my go to burger spot) but the time I did order it I thought it was as good as Redwood and Observatory.
Rina Slicher
We usually come for dinner and it’s always a great experience. Fast, friendly service, not crowded, and nice selection of locally sourced, seasonal food. The pork chop, brick chicken, and bolognese are favorites in our family. The burger is also delicious, and the mushroom pizza. They often have great seasonal salads and veggie sides. It’s nice to have a restaurant in this part of town that serves quality, delicious food. I also love that you order at the counter, I feel like it’s a little faster.
Rob Webster
Delicious food. My pork chop was perfectly cooked. Open atmosphere. Staff was friendly and amazing.
IndianaJenz R
Nice local restaurant. Moderately limited menu but everything on it is very tasty. I had the burger and my companion had the grilled cheese. Both were healthier and fancier versions of the American standards. Order at the counter and they bring to you. Not a huge parking lot so you might be out of luck finding a spot at peak times.
Kelli Barager
This place was awesome! I stayed at a hotel nearby, and I was expecting bad food nearby, but no. I had a chicken Caesar salad and tomato basil soup. Prices were good and the food was great! The Caesar dressing had preserved lemon, the lettuce was crisp, the parm was fresh grated, the soup was so tasty...When I went in, the pizza smells were good too. The guy at the counter was so friendly. I’m coming back—maybe I’ll try that pizza next time.
Tom Pope
Cuban sandwich for the win! This place is always good and always consistent. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.
Harvey The pukka
Bistro 23 was just the right place after a long day of travel. The brick chicken, was wonderful and the pineapple cider was very good.
Robert Auzenne
The food was on a different level. They have probably the best pork chop ever had.
Brook Balocca
Great cozy spot, with more than just pub fare! Beer selection is a bit limited, but what they do have is pretty good. Really open atmosphere, some tables some booths and bar space. Lots of potential with this one! Had the bolognese, partner had grilled cheese and tomato soup. Neither of us were disappointed.
Vincelle Calica
Great atmosphere, great food, very trendy, unique menu. When we went out was very busy, people were really enjoying themselves. I had there broccoli cheddar soup and the garden salad with grilled chicken and house made balsamic dressing.... it was very good. The grass fed burger is also an excellent choice
Maricela Johnson
Bistro 23 was perfect! We enjoyed a 'Pig in the Woods' pizza, peach salad and a beer. All were delicious! There's a large seating area, a bar, concrete floors, wooden tables, a few high top tables. The atmosphere is a blend of upscale casualness. Friendly staff. Parking in front. Pay first and then sit down. Great place would eat here again and have different food
robert
Good food, great service!! Arrive usually for lunch at their peak time. But we were able to grab seats at the bar so we didn't have to wait long. The bartender was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and gave great service. Our food was fresh, and they have a very eclectic menu with traditional fare and decent selection of brews. Everything was delicious from the house burgers to the pizzas. I'll go back again and there is a reason they are pretty busy during lunch time.
Alese Wade
I pick up lunch here frequently. There salads and sandwiches are great. However the current seasonal salad with pear and hazelnut is disappointing. An overall bland salad. Hope they change it out soon.

We love this place! I’ve always driven by it but never stopped by and I’m so glad we did! We are definitely coming back! The food was amazing! Our kids loved the pizza, my polenta burger as SO delicious. We had their homemade ice cream and it was amazing. Looking forward to trying more things on the menu.
Elise Haase
All I could think about was the grilled cheese so that's what I ordered. I was gonna substitute the soup but totally forgot and I'm glad I did. I cannot stop thinking about the grilled cheese and soup. They were soo amazing. I rarely get to go out and try new places and so glad my gf took me here. Highly recommend. Staff is friendly and they are very covid conscious! Also loved how the water was delivered in a bottle with glasses.
Diane Vorbroker
Really yummy! Stumbled here when nearby Mexican restaurants were closed. Nice homemade feel to the food. Chicken parmesan sandwich was wonderful if you need a place to eat near the PDX airport, totally recommend!
Neomi Meyer
I was surprised the first time that such a simple looking restaurant has such a great food. Sandwiches, pizza, daily soup tastes amazing like in expensive high end restaurant. I love their Bah Mi sandwich. The only problem is rush lunch hour. They have a lot of people and it might take you 40 mins just to get your food. So make sure you have enough time if you decide to go between 12-2
Christine Scheideger
I happened upon this place when looking for lunch during my lunch break working in Portland. The food was delectable. The grilled cheese was probably the best I'd ever eaten, and the portions were great. No one likes to throw out all the leftover tomato soup, so imagine my surprise when the meal came with just the right amount of tomato soup for tasting and dipping.
Following the soup and sandwich combo, I enjoyed the strawberry shortcake. Now, I had a lot of strawberry shortcake growing up. Hell, my mom made it for dinners sometimes. With that being said, the shortcake itself was a little dry, but it still had great flavor.
Overall, I was impressed by the atmosphere, pricing, portion sizes, and speed of service. It's a must visit. Btw, I'll mention that I'm currently very pregnant, so my tastes could be a little off concerning the shortcake. Enjoy.
William Carpenter
Had the burger it was cooked perfectly and was delicious.
Kevin Mapes
Clean and classy. This place was nice.
Jason theShoshbin
Our group had dinner here twice while in town for the weekend. Loved it so much the first time we went back. Over the top good food, the staff was great to be with and banter with. Everyone seems to enjoy working there and it made for 2 great nights out in Portland.
Good wine, good beer to choose from and an atmosphere you can come casual or formal.
Samuel Gregg
Relaxing, cozy atmosphere with fireplaces. Friendly staff. Fair prices on extremely fresh food. My wife and I come here once a week as a tradition now. Our friends have enjoyed it, too. I have tried something different from the menu every time I come, and I have never been disappointed. It is great to have a relaxing local restaurant in this area of Portland.
Edward
The food was amazing, high end ingredients put together nicely and cooked to perfection. We are foodies and very picky about food & environment. Ryan was our server and he was a great help! Big thanks to the whole staff, we will be back.
Sean Akers
Brick chicken was excellent. Brussels sprouts were good, though I prefer them a bit underdone, whereas others may not. Drinks were very good, though I prefer a bit sweeter (had Lion's Tail & Flannel shirt). Mushroom pizza, w/ sausage added, was fair. Should've asked for it to be more done to crisp up the crust.
Marianne Stevens
The food was great. The service was gast and very friendly. I went between lunch and dinner so it not as busy. I'll be going back.
Anthony Seran
Really impressed. I had the pig in the woods pizza. It was incredibly flavorful. The crust was very tasty. The toppings just right. Overall great pie.
Christine Kingsley
Clean restaurant, super friendly staff, and scrumptious food!! What more can you ask for? My sister-in-law and I had lunch for less than $25! She ordered the strawberry salad and a drink and I ordered the yummy mushroom pizza with truffle oil and side salad. Great price and this is down the street from the airport (no need to get back in the freeway).
Pamela Churchill
Always super good food so this is a go to for quality eats. Get the 4 cheese pizza and add mushrooms. The chicken parmigiana sandwich is excellent and weirdly served with chips. Okay!
Amy Bangsund
The polenta is amazing. If you don't even know what polenta is, you should totally try it for the first time at Bistro 23. We go there regularly and have enjoyed many things on the menu. They are all good. But we ALWAYS get a side of polenta. Yum.
Lorraine Spanish-Manion
Just tried it for the first time last night. I had the chicken and mashed potatoes. My friend had the chicken pulled pizza. The food was as good as anywhere in Portland. I try to watch my salt intake. The food was not salty and was served with a half of a roasted lemon, which made up for any salt deficit. The lemon bars were amazing. If you are looking for a sit down dinner with double the prices then this isn't your place. It is a bistro and you order your food at the counter and they bring it to your table. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is great. I will return many times now that I know where the best food in NE Portland is. Way to go Bistro 23!
Molly Patronick
We have been to Bistro 23 quite a few times now when staying in Portland. The brews, the wines—very nice. The pizza is terrific. The bricked chicken was wonderful. The bacon wrapped stuffed dates, never had better. And servers are so nice, friendly and helpful. Plus, and this is a big one, our two dogs can be with us when we dine on the patio!
Tyrel Johnson
This is a place I have been many times before. It is a great spot to meet with friends or grab a quick lunch alone. The food is always ready quick, tastes good, and fresh. The atmosphere is relaxed. It can get a little loud during the lunch rush, but there are little corner spots and different sections to sit in. Outdoor seating is very nice as well.
M
Update : today we went back and whoever the short dark curly haired lady and stocky woman with blonde hair is extremely unprofessional and abrasive. Did not feel welcomed at all, felt as if we were bothering them. The food is still excellent but the customer service today really let us with a distasteful impression.
I’ve had my fair share of poor experiences with food in the Portland / Vancouver area and I am absolutely floored about this restaurant. It is excellent! The menu is perfect for just short everybody, casual, clean open setting and the food is fresh, full of flavors and quality. We will be back!
Jennifer Chaffee
Great food, friendly staff, very relaxed and open environment. I love the fireplaces and modern-meets-industrial aura with concrete floors, plush booths and couches, and contemporary, interesting artwork. We arrived as the spring cocktail menu was just rolled out, and everything we tried was top notch. We have been here before and will be returning again.
Kelley Morton
We found Bistro 23 on Yelp and the good rating was dead on. We had our kids and grandkids with us and every one found an entree that made them happy. I had the Pig in the Woods personal pizza and the flavor of the ham was amazing! Others in our party had the pork chop and really liked it also. Those that had the tomato basil soup weren't impressed but the chicken noodle soup was a hit.
Veronica Ishmael
Amazing food. Haven't been here in awhile and still as good as the 1st time! The Brick Chicken is amazing!
Don Johnson
The food was amazing; however I thought for a burger/sandwich joint, things were pretty expensive. My wife and I had a burger, sandwich, 1 diet coke, and the stuffed dates, which were all amazing. What I didn't expect was to pay $45 for the 2 of us to have lunch and an appetizer. If $45 bucks for 2 meals and no alcoholic beverages, then this is a great place to eat. I rated it a 5 star for food, but it's on the spender side for a bistro.
Jason Zerbel
Wow! I loved my first experience at Bistro23. First off you can seat yourself and peruse the concise menu but you have to place your order at the front counter and pay before your service. They offer just enough options to make your choice difficult because everything is locally sourced and delicious. I had the brick chicken and potatoes which I never wanted to end. Every bite was so delicious that I was forced to use small bites to savor every mouthful of flavor. The portions are generous and spot on for the price. The atmosphere is inviting and vibrant with just the right amount of comfort zones incase you want more privacy, outdoor space, or intimacy. I will be back.
Andrew Fisher
Excellent food. Quick nice service. Clean. Solid pricing.
Order at the counter and sit, food comes out pretty fast.
Will be back.
D. F.
Stopped in for lunch and it was well worth it! I had the Brick Chicken(as recommended by a returning patron) and it was delicious. It was quickly apparent that the meal was made fresh to order. Very tender and juicy. This will be a regular stop from now on.(sorry, no photo this trip. I guess I will have to go back again... 😁). …
Patrick Holmes
My wife had an excellent grilled cheese sandwich with a tomato basil soup. I had the turkey avocado sandwich with a Ceasar salad. Great food, we'll definitely be back!
Joan Schanilec
Very friendly and accommodating staff. We very much enjoyed our two dinners of the glazed pork chop and brick chicken. We shared both meals and found them to be delicious! As visitors to the Portland area, we highly recommend Bistro 23!
Ruvim Kharitonenko
It's very interesting to know Russian because bistro in Russian means fast and that is what they are for sure!! Everything is good I'd say besides the bar... They serve the coffee fast and everything else. Don't hesitate to buy pizza because it's really good. I heard someone know someone who told someone else who bought pizza and it was good. Can't beat the quality pretty much. Of course, it's not cheap but it's up to you. I'm not your mom or your dad to tell you to get it or not. It's all up to you
Travis Brown
Excellent bistro with fresh food and fast service. I go here every time I am in Portland. Prices are very good and the staff are friendly. Their roasted vegetables are some of the best I have had. Definitely recommend stopping by here.
Cinzia Corio-Holman
I met some friends here for an early dinner and what a surprise this place was. Great food and ambiance. I'll go back.
Nick Victor
Does food in the galaxy. Don't hesitate to enrich your taste buds at Bistro 23.
Ash
My partner and I had an excellent dinner here. We got the grilled chicken Caesar salad (perfect amount of dressing, dusting of finely grating Parmesan, delicious lemony flavor) and the grilled cheese with tomato basil soup. Everything was excellent!
Kevin Jones
I had the pork chop, which was served with asparagus and carrots. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and the veggies has the right amount of char.
I didn't think I was that hungry until my first bite of the pork chop and then it was on and nothing was left but the bone. I'll be back!
Eric Fraker
This really is the best restaurant near Cascade Station, or near the airport. The pesto pizza is unique and delicious, the seasoning on the garlic potatoes is perfect, and the strawberry salad is practically a fruit & cheese plate.
Javier Lopez
Never been, no kids menu only con all pros after that.
Great pizza and burgers!
My son could not finish the grilled cheese.
Baby loved the tomato soup. I enjoyed pigs in the wood pizza, Amazing! Brb 4sure
Meagan Inspyredcreations
Ordered take out for the whole family while staying near the airport. I had the pork chop and it was so good I nearly wept. Everything was great. I recommend the ribs also and the watermelon salad is beautiful. Do not order take out from anywhere else when staying near PDX. Staff was so friendly, prices were very reasonable for food so freaking good.
Ernie Wagaman
I really enjoy this place.
It is close to home. Sometimes parking is tight. They have a small selection of nice beers on tap. Cozy and not so loud that you can actually have a conversation at your table.
Grilled cheese and tomato soup are the GoTo.
Derek Jefferson
Excellent dining experience. Food was fresh and tasty, cooked to perfection with piping hot soup. Service was clean, professional, and friendly. Interior was clean, modern, and inviting. Menu is simple with good selection. Desert was also great.
Highly recommended!
Jason
Love this place! They have a wide variety of food to choose from. Comfort food, healthy or just amazing dinner entree's. Very laid back with great service. Everyone we've taken here has enjoyed their meal.
J D
Bistro 23 is a great place to grab a sandwich or light dinner. You order at the counter and the food is delivered to your table. The restaurant has a couple dining rooms and some small couches and chairs as well as a bar seating area. We both got the avocado BLT sandwiches with a fried egg on brioche and the sandwiches were delicious and fresh. We also tried the raspberry sorbet which was great as well. We would definitely go back if we return to the area.
kasey Stombaugh
It's the kind of place where you order at the counter first. The menu has no apparent theme. I think it's mostly Italian? But none of that matters we got four different main entrees, salad and dessert. Everything was outstanding! The food is made simply, with fresh and well prepared ingredients. The building was nicely set and the bar area has a lovely fireplace with soft sofas and chairs around it. The food came out quickly. There was a nice selction of beer and cidars. I will go back. I would say the only downside was the service. While we were taken care of and got everything we needed, the entire staff seemed a little somber. Not overly friendly, it felt like we were annoying them with questions and our presence which was an uncomfortable situation. It was not enough to make me not want to go back however. Everything else was wonderful.
Marian Adams
What a surprise find! Come twice this week, food is AMAZING! Caesar is fresh and just enough anchovy-y, brick chicken is really flavorful and tender, pizza...fo-gettaboutit, awesome tomato sauce, thin/crispy/chewy crust, REAL mozz....excited to try the bolognese!
Dan Nagashima
I Googled this place on our way out to the airport. Wow. Without exaggeration, the Banh mi sandwich was one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Very purposeful and thoughtful ingredients. Tomato basil soup tasted like real tomatoes and real basil. Go figure.
Sande Sivani
Excellent food and service! We ordered a toasted cheese sandwich with 2 cups of tomato bisque soup and it was really great. The sandwich was oversized and 1/2 of the sandwich with the cup of soup was perfect for 2 of us for lunch. We will definitely return to Bistro 23 for lunch in the future.
Laura Cifelli
Prob some of the best pizza. Even the simple pepperoni is amazing because of the crust and the fresh sauce. Happy hour from 3-6. Good beer on tap but wine is a bit on the expensive side with lowest starting at 9$.
Sarah Gerberding
Best Caesar ever. Top notch margherita pizza and grilled cheese with tomato soup. The entrees (chicken, pork chop) are high class and delicious. Service is counter style and friendly. Outdoor patio seat during covid is very very cute. (Honestly way better than the interior, which feels a little cafeteria-esque) would highly recommend.
Shawn Adams
Excellent food and beer. Prices were a bit high for a bus-your-own-table establishment though. Burger was a tiny bit on the small side, considering the size of the bun they used. I'd still return though. It was very dead inside on Friday at rush hour (3 other groups at any one time).
Xiomara Figueroa
What a great place to unwind after a long day at work, and the perfect afternoon place to concentrate on studying. The food is so rich and delicious. You can taste the fresh ingredients in all their meals, and the food quality is incredible. Not to mention, the staff here is absolutely delightful!
Millennium Motors
I discovered this place when I opened my business on airport way, and i'm sure glad I did, it is now my favorite place to go for lunch and dinner. always a satisfaction with the customer service to the quality of the food. My favorite is the Heisenberg with a fresh side salad and a seasonal IPA. All the food is great. I'm actually going there right now.
Jeremy Burgher
A friend in our group took us here, saying she'd discovered it a while back while in town on business. We had lunch, which meant sandwiches, and among the four of us, only tried two different ones between all of us - the Cuban, and the banh mi. However, we also had some stuffed dates, and everyone loved all of the food. It was delicious, made to order, and served with a smile (and terrific pickles and chips, which I'm assuming are housemade!). I'm looking forward to going back some time in the near future, relaxing a bit with a drink, and trying a wider variety of their menu.
Llynn C
Food was amazing! The Brick chicken was fantastic!! And those garlic mashed potatoes were the BEST! The ribs were also good. The chocolate chip cookie was not awesome
Andre W
Split pea soup and fried polenta!!! Delicious!!
Yogilachi Wellness
Great layout and streamlined flow. I ordered strawberry pecan salad and it was lovely. Fresh and well prepared. Servers, hosts are bright and alert . Great choice for a light meal for a business meeting.
Nora Black
Really great grilled cheese and tomato soup!
Jacquelyn Olle
We are from out of state and ate here....The food was absolutely amazing! BUT! I ordered the meatball sandwich and I nearly broke my teeth on the bread!! I was so upset because the flavor is amazing but it was extremely tough to eat! If you have dentures I don’t recommend this sandwich
yettimouse
Yummy pizza and quiet atmosphere make this bistro one of the north east side of towns best kept secrets. The crust was crisp, the vegetables were lighty toasted and the cheese and ham perfectly matched in flavor and texture. Just sorry that we didn't have a glass of wine with it due to our companys policy. Be sure and try the fresh baked cookies on the counter, they are off menu and well worth the extra mile I ran to work off the calories.
Ray Lister
Great food, nice atmosphere, good prices. It is higher end eating for mid-range prices. The pork chop is amazing and The Heisenberg is probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had.
Joseph Brooks
This place has great potential, but manages to fall short.
-Food is generally very good and well presented.
-A bit expensive for what you get. Typically meat and starch.
-The service is middle of the road, you order and they bring it to you like an upscale fast food place. Just a bit apathetic.
-The place feels comfortable and would be welcoming if the staff just tried a little harder.
- My biggest complaints are $3 sodas and bread only on request, and they guard it closely. $3 for a very small warmed loaf, ala Outback steakhouse.
I've eaten here three times, so I do go back, but leave Everytime thinking I will not. Bottom line, good food, everything else a work in progress.
Oh yes, what's with the small bar mainly inhabited with employees? Can't get a seat because they are sitting there texting at the only place there's a TV. Eating alone, it would be nice if I could sit there and watch the game.
Step it up a little and shine.
Jenna Hobson
Great hidden gem in an industrial area near the airport. Amazing pizza and fancy, creative cocktails. Also love the crostini, polenta and beets. Changing seasonal menu items are tasty too. Highly recommend!
Tim Gutfleisch
The staff is very friendly and the food was better than average for a pub. Brick chicken was very juicy and seasoned nicely. The hard cider was perfect, not too sweet and crisp.
Tyler John
The most unique and frequently changing menu i have ever seen. I had a pumpkin pesto burger once and recently had Vietnamese meatball sub sandwich with pickled cucumber etc. The sauces and quality of food are great. The housemade lemonade is refreshing and freeee refills. Great prices too. I will eat there everytime i am in the area. The staff is relaxed and always make things right for their guests.
Jeanie Swan
The chicken Parm sandwich was very delicious. The breading was light and crispy. It was huge, too! The place is worth checking out
Gentry Coleman
I was invited this place for the 1st time ,and I can tell u the food is absolutely delicious, amazing, superb! awesome beer too multiple choices highly recommend this place I had grilled/fried chicken breast that played on top of some unbelievable mashed potatoes with a half of grilled lemon and grilled/sauteed brussel sprouts halves
Samantha Palm
We were a group of 11, including 4 young children. The service was great and the food came fast. We all enjoyed our food. Clean bathrooms. Would go back. Loved the beets.
Victor Toal
While I was ion Portland for business for about 5 weeks I came to this place almost 3-4 times a week. It was around the corner from the hotel so it was convenient but that was not the only reason. GREAT food in my mind., inventive, really tasty and I like the people. Never had a bad experience and I wish I had a place like that close to where I live!
Stephen Foltz (PKnot)
A truly minimalist restaurant. Akin to a fast food restaurant, when you walk in you choose from blackboard menus what looks good, order your drink and grab a number. Sit anywhere you want, but make sure the table is clean before you commit.
No condiments, no napkins, no menus, and no utensils...until your meal arrives.
Apparently spoons are multi-tools, because that's what comes with your meal. You must ask for a fork.
The young man who took our order was very nice and informative. But our meal was nothing to write home about. The seafood special was a tomatoey broth with several tasty chunks of cod , a couple of prawns and four clams in the shell. My pork belly and egg sandwich was the main reason I decided to try this place. It was good, but not $11 good. I get a great BLT with egg from the food truck at work for $3.50 and I would have preferred it.
Don't mean to be curmudgeonly, but this barebones bistro just didn't appeal to my wife or I. Wish them well, but when I go out to dinner, my expectations are for a tasty and fun meal in an interesting atmosphere.
Geoffrey Rimmer
Love this place, I come here every time I'm in the area. Great beer selection, cozy warm atmosphere and the best pork chop I've ever had in my life. Classy but not at all pretentious. And the staff is super friendly.
N Clever
The food was very good and the server was nice however the guy taking our order at the counter wasn't very friendly. We almost left because of him. Glad we decided to stay. The veggie burger and watermelon salad were delicious.
Trevor Sosamon
Best sandwiches in Portland! I haven't been there in almost 10 years and I still think about them!
Erich Uhlman
This place used to be the best place to eat around the Airport Way industrial area but something changed. Prices went up, taste went down. Due to this I've changed my 5 star review to a 3. The least you could do is offer French fries with your burger!
keri wyckoff
The food was incredible!!! A little expensive for the amount, but considering COVID restrictions, I would get again, we ordered the Pork Chop, Brick Chicken, Caesar Salad, Pear Salad with chicken, and margarita pizza!👍 AND mango hard cider …
Sasha Hartleb
This place is a hidden gem! Small-ish menu, with nothing but jaw droppers! Kudos to whoever created this menu! The half chicken dinner and the banh-mi sandwich are my personal favorites. Beautiful beautiful food! Clean updated vibe with a bar and homemade desserts too! You will enjoy.
Shannon Wall
We ordered the ribs and Cuban sandwich and it was probably the best food I have ever had that came out that fast. The perfect place to go if you want a quick high quality lunch or dinner.
Bella Haynie
Phenomenal pigs in the forest pizza. Pork chops are always cooked just right. The chefs here really care about what they are doing. All the seats are really uncomfortable so I stopped eating there and just get to go but man the food is so good!!!
Katie S
Cute place, outside would have been prettier in a season with greenery and blooms. We saw another reviewer's picture of the patio... and it definitely does not look like that now! We looked at the menu online before we went, and I picked it because I wanted the Bolognese. When we arrived they were out of Bolognese! I was crushed, but ordered the Pig in the Woods pizza and it was delicious. Tasty cocktails, too!
Courtney H. Riggin
Bistro 23 is great! Their grilled cheese and tomato basil soup was the best I've ever had. The only thing I disliked was the choice of dressings. I'll definitely be coming again.
vishal singh
Amazing pizza and sandwich place… my go to place each time I am in this side of the town.
Robin Bailey
The great tasting food makes up for the awkward "order at counter" style of this bistro.
Friendly and helpful staff. Fresh and local ingredients. Great place to share a meal with a group or someone special
Jacob Alburn
Wonderful find on the East side of the airport. The grilled cheese and Tomato was amazing. The Salad and pizza were as well.
I could find no complaints. The orders also came quickly!
Jason Jaynes
Wow what a great find (thanks to Yelp)! I ordered the Brick Chicken that comes with crushed garlic mashed potatoes, along with a side salad and a Pilsener local beer. The chicken was perfectly seasoned with a hint of garlic, and some other amazing magic. The side salad was fresh and good but not anything to rave over. They have a great local beer selection and friendly, but not annoying, staff. It is an order up front style of restaurant. If you are close to PDX, eat here!
Justin Ganschow
I had the pork chop, apricot, and broccoli plate for dinner. The chop had a pleasantly sweet glaze and a perfectly complimentary salty char. Quite possibly the best cut of pork I've had anywhere. Ever. The sides were equally excellent. This will be a go-to in my future Portland travels.
Kenley Nasario
You would never expect such quality food in such a random little spot! I've never had anything I didn't love. It's s on par with any downtown restaurant. The baked chicken is ridiculously good and I crave their bahn mi regularly.
Tony Arsan
Great spot for al fresco and indoor casual dining. Food is delicious and reasonable. Delicious beverages as well. Service is prompt and friendly 😊 …
setaglm
Food is always good however staff are never friendly. None of them. Getting coffee is a pain. Not from a refills perspective but having hands free to take it at the counter along with whatever one is carrying. If you want more you have to go get it and either take your belongings to the register with you or risk vanishing personal items...
Andrea Clark
What this place may lack in atmosphere it makes up for with delicious food. We had the fig and goat cheese pizza last visit. So good. But dont miss the smoked meatballs, either with polenta or on a pizza.
michael frantum
Quiet, intimate and sat right In front of the fireplace! Fun bistro. Quick service, friendly staff...no wait time at ordering counter. Pallet Jack IPA and Boneyard IPA !!!
Best choice; P.J. from Baker City, oh yeah!
For our meal, we ordered the house specialty; grilled, thick pork chop with broccoli and garlic - also lentil soup and house baguette slices to share!!!
Brigid Freeman
Went at 10am. Okay parking. No breakfast or brunch items. Order at counter or at table. They bring the food to you. Hamburger good, cooked to order. Hubby had Bolognese and was very tasty. Meat sauce had a great spice (not hot) taste. Lots of room, could lower the music level, but enjoyed the morning's selection of a latin beat.
Dan Campbell
This is a place that I crave more than any other. This is a must go place to eat. The Bahn Mi and also the Heisenberg are ridiculous good. Be careful because you can not eat a whole Heisenberg, so get 1/2. Also they serve Cavatika stout by Ft George and it’s so good. Go, eat and you’ll be hooked. In fact now that I wrote this review I’m heading there I can’t help it.
Barbara Hallisey
Awesome pork chop! Wasn't prepared for the order at the counter approach. Had a nice outdoor area with planned flying overhead. I liked the grilled broccoli. My friend wasn't that happy with the pseudoCuban.
Sandra Neelands
Love Bistro 23! We live nearby and go there often. I love the chicken pesto panini (when tomatoes are in season), the chicken mac'n cheese and pizza. I've been told the pork chop and sliders are excellent as well. The staff is great and it's very comfortable inside with different seating options including an outdoor patio in the summer. They have a huge lunch crowd due to the business/airport district. I highly recommend it and feel like it's our secret undiscovered restaurant at dinner time.
scott sweetman
Place is legitimately awesome! Get your ass over there and order one of many things that sound delish! Been in Portland for a few weeks and can’t stop Going to this place. Everything on the menu looks and sound good and then they deliver, in spades! Hospitality top notch, friendly, yup, treat you with respect, gotcha. Don’t play games and guess what might be good or tasty In the area, Get your ass over there and be surprised. Ordered the pork chop and oh yeah!! Fat was more delicious than the meat and usually that’s gross. Burger? Yeah, baby yeah!! Ribs with chimichurri?? Bet you never had ribs this good before.
Sides, desert, beer, whatever man, good stuff is happening here. You are a loser if you are any where near this place and chose something different,. Been eating here noon and night literally for a week! Thanks to Nick & Teighlor for the hospitality and great service!!!!!! You guys are the best!!
MJ Bandong (MJ)
I ordered a $15 pot roast last night. It was good, broth was flavorful although, there were burnt pieces and could taste it. Also, I asked the bus boy for bread to soak up the broth, which filled the bowl, and he went back to the kitchen to check. Upon his return, he stated that "breads were already put away. Sorry. That's what the spoon is for. " I didn't reply.
A couple minutes later, I asked the cashier, who walked by, if I can get some bread. And her response, "Well, we usually charge for them, but I'll give you a few pieces. " She returned with six tiny sliced pieces.
One would think that for $15, there would be bread to go with the meal. And there were only two pieces of meat :( The baby red potatoes and carrots were tender and yummy.
I would have given a 5-star rating if it weren't for the poor customer service. The cashier sounded like she was doing me a favor by giving me free bread. And I didn't need to know that they charge for bread. And the sarcasm of the bus boy unnecessary. The both of them were unprofessional.
Erin Greeno
Nice variety to the menu. Sandwiches and pizza, salads, soup. Tried the Grilled Peach Salad with goat cheese and candied pecans-was delish! Very clean, nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
Brett Hilberg
Stopped in for lunch. Split a Cuban sandwich and a BLT. They were both awesome, but the BLT was really something special. The fresh basil really sets it apart. Definitely going back.
Bill Smith
Food is consistently good! We live in Tigard and only get out this way occasionally, but when we are nearby this is our go to place for good food and good service.
Blane Hartleb
Update....Wow I can't believe it has been almost 2 years since I wrote my first review about Bistro 23. This is one of the Best Treasures the east side has. Drinks are amazing...Everything I order...from the stuffed dates...the "Pig in the woods " Pizza......a side Caesar Salad.......or if I am in the mood...The Pork Chop is KILLER...make sure and ask for a little extra side of the topping glaze. My wife was hooked on the Bahn Me...but now she has switched to what the call a "Heizenberg". Food is way over the top. We now are here multiple times per month....just awesome, this is in our top 5 favorites now in Portland. This place BLOWS away places downtown where you would pay double or triple for less. It seems that EVERY item they create is built with a passion for food.
.
First Review...This is one of our favorite go-to restaurants the sandwiches are amazing make sure that you order the s'mores at the end (They don't offer this dessert any more...UGH).
Lee Berg
Grilled cheese and tomato basil soup was perfect! We stopped here before our flight home and we highly recommend it.
DJ 1964
Near perfection. High end counter ordered food with good beer/wine and great cocktails. Nice short walk from hotel row and well worth it. I had the crostini snack and the Porkchop. Friendly owner..
Vincent V
Lunch was decent (burger and chips), and the outdoor patio seating was nice. The staff seemed quick and pleasant, and there is enough room for larger groups. Will be trying it again soon.
Michelle “Mickey” McLeod
LOVE the food here! The wine is pretty good, along with the Italian soda concoctions! The pork chops are twice the size than on the East Coast too! :)
Elliot Dellorco
Honestly the MOST underrated restaurant out there. Don't let its location fool you, this place makes killer food and killer cocktails. Absolute easy 10 out 10, 5 out of 5, however you want to rate it, it tops the charts.
doylesarah pal
This place is the little hidden gem of our neighborhood.
Small menu but everything on it is stellar.
Best penta that we have had anywhere.

Awesome Pork Chop entree and I Love the Burger. Simply great food and drinks. The Staff are awesome, friendly and helpful.
We will go back for sure! 🙂😍 …
Stephanie Does Stuff
The best place for grilled chicken and burgers and everything in between! They do everything in house to their pickles (delicious by the way) all the way down to the buns in their burgers and cookies! Please patronize this restaurant cause their staff are awesome!!
Nathan Perry
They are not playing games at Bistro 23. The Brick chicken will slap you in the face with a deliciousness that will linger on your mind for days. The potatos and grilled vegetables came hard with the asist.
Ree Squared
I went here for my sister's birthday dinner I was not impressed with the lack of menu items however I did enjoy the pork ribs and the macaroni and cheese. The only other items were some sort of pasta and a house burger with regular chips not french fries, but chips not sure when I visit again but I would go back.
Leo Hey
Great place for take out food, short menu but delicious meals we keep adding items to our menu thinking on our customers. Just the best for them.
Trevor Bair
Was flying out of PDX for business and this was the best sounding non-fast food option in the neighborhood. Had the chicken pesto panino and it was great, lemon bar very good, too. Service was blazingly quick. Will definitely stop in next time I'm in town.
Shane Graybill
Food is great and the understaffed servers do a great job when it's busy. I had the beet salad and the spare ribs. The ribs might have been the best I've ever had, cooked perfectly and the prices are more than fair.
Paul Johnson
Fast friendly service, great food !
Alison
Good pizza and nice drink menu! Family friendly and adult friendly options. The patio is lovely in the summer. I wish it was open Sundays!
Owen Burke
Awesome place, great food! highly recommend!
Marc Webb
Meatball bahn mi and a burger were both great. The beer and music were both well selected. A problem with order entry was resolved to our satisfaction. Our new place to go when returning from travel through PDX.
Jamin Rak
This place is great! Best cappuccino I've had in a long time. Their soup is awesome too. Very comfortable atmosphere. Staff could be a little more friendly...
Wendy Griffin
Always great food choices...fresh, local ingredients, a creative menu, and friendly staff. A little noisier than average during lunch rush, and parking can be tricky, but overall worth the little inconveniences.
Luwanna Stalcup
Bistro23 has a clean and inviting feel to it. The menu is fresh and tasty. I had the Chimichuri Ribs and creamy Polenta, both were divine. I will definitely go back soon.
Quickster Flipster
I loved the pizza. I dropped a star, because I don't think it's neccesary to ask people to bus their own tables. If I'm paying top pricd for premium food, and leave a tip on the reciept, I shouldn't feel abliged to. I probably won't be coming here again unless I get food to go.
Erik Sundell
This place has an excellent menu. You can't go wrong with anything they serve here. The burger is one of the best in town and they have a great daily soup as well.
M. A. R
Pizza is to die for, please never change the recipe. Tiramisu is out of this world amazing. I highly recommend this place it’s top notch.
Side note:
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
BRING BACK THE RIBS!!!
MY HEART IS....BROKEN :(
I NEED THE RIBS!!
D
An oasis in a desert of disappointment. It won't surprise you to hear that "NE Airport Way" doesn't have much to offer, so after five days at the Hilton Garden Inn (a nearby hotel), I was relieved to find this place. The beer, pizza, and salads are excellent, and the space is comfortable.
Victoria Mejia
If you like quick bites this place is a good option. I enjoyed my portobello sandwich and soup of the day was fresh. Fast service. Casual atmosphere.
Kyle Gibson
Come on, one of the best places on the east side hands down!!!! Food is great, the staff are awesome and the place is always busy. For good reason I might add. The Heisenberg sandwich is off the hook.
David Hanley
Best Pork Chop in town with a nice Broccoli Rob,The people here are the Best ,Great Atomsphere
Alice McCann
Always a positive experience! I live in Southern CA, but when here on business, this is my go to. Usually have the bolognese, but tonight tried the pizza. Excellent!
Joe Vaccaro
Great place, just wish they had diet coke.
Ross Wineinger (Ross W.)
Burger was solid, many options to choose from, great for lunch, surprisingly cool decor inside. Word on the street is their BLT is amazing. Looking forward to giving it a shot...
Monica Murry
Small bit unique menu. Everything I tried had great flavor and the service was very quick and friendly. The restaurant has a farm fresh taste.
Bob Swindell
Great food and a friendly staff.
Matt Schoessler
Staff is great! Food is even better! Pizza is one of the best!
Dan Campbell
This was my fav restaurant......then they removed the Bahn Mi sandwich, and changed the Heisenburg to the “Ham and avo” and removing the half vs whole. So here’s the problem, I work with 65 co-workers who boycotted them because of this, now nobody wants to go there and they are losing apx 30 orders per month at least from us......IDK?🤷♀️
Ray Paz
The best pork chops in town period. Coming back definitely.
K Hopkins
I was surprised how good the food was. We came for lunch and a beer. If you're shopping in the area this is a good place if you hate the busyness of Cascade Center to chill and eat.
Mike
Excellent well-crafted flavorful fresh food. Light lunch for three was $50 including tip.
cliff goodson
The food amazingly great. The service is very good. And the atmosphere is very comfortable. I've eaten here for Lunch twice and I had the Chop which was very good and the Chicken was extremely good.
Eric B
Bistro 23 is a great find if you're staying near the airport. The food we ordered was delicious and satisfying. The Banh Mi sandwich was awesome! Try their lemon bar for desert.
Charlene Martinez
Excellent polenta burger! Great meatless option. My partner had the burger and kids, pizza. Wonderful first time experience. Will be our new PDX airport option!
Doug
Good pork chops! I don't know if these are still on the menu, but they had great Banh Mi.
sean wilson
Had the ham avocado sandwich, it was amazing
Darline McHarless
Good service. Very clean place! The sandwiches are really good. The clam chowder sucks. Over all good. Wont be having the soup again.
Bikram Day
A great hidden gem, very convenient for lunch when in that area. Great food and drink menu options and everything is done very well! So far it has never disappointed.
David Gregory
Great grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch. Employees were nice but none of them seemed happy to be working there. Food was great, will definitely go back.
Tannon Held
Lovely hand crafted pizzas. Fun arcade room in the back. Order the wrapped Dates with balsamic reduction
Ron TazMan (OTazMan)
Great food made from scratch. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars because the portions are a little small. The BLT with egg and avocado was incredible.
Jessica Brenden
Great atmosphere. Great food, a little pricey. Advertised beer but were not prepared to serve it ("our bar is being worked on"). A touch slow to get food out to tables.
C Cruz
wow the pork chop was delicious in a bed of broccoli. also have had the meatball Bahn Mi sandwich as well super mouth watering good.
Jorge Briceño
The food was amazing. I tried the Bahn Mi and it didn't disappoint. The location is pretty convenient if you are staying at a hotel near the airport.
Laurie Holycross
Stopped by here one day just to check it out. Wish they had more of a beer selection. The food was good, and the staff was nice, and the place was clean! 👍 …
Laura Brown
Everything we ordered was delicious. The staff made it that much better. Thank you!
Brian Levenhagen
Great lunch place. Everything is very good. Blt has a nice egg on it. Burgers cone with chips not fries. Pig in the woods pizza is my favorite.
Andrey
Have been coming here for years and have not once been disappointed, seriously about 300 visits with 100% satisfaction. I really hope it never changes. The staff is great, service is great and food is always the same as the first time, amazing.
Jennifer Stuart
Some of the best pizza crust I’ve ever had. Excellent and prompt service too
Ian Chang
When ever I am staying near PDX, I make a point of having a meal here! One of my favourite menu items is the pork chop; good selection of OR beer too.
Alan Landry
Excellent non-meat pizza: Green Pie. Crust is light and crispy, arugula fresh and toppings delicious. Highly recommend.
Peter
Very disappointing looking from the outside. But once you step indoors the vibe totally changed to the up beat atmosphere. Order upfront then sit-down and enjoy the relaxing couches or hanging out at the bar.
Joshua Anderson
Always great food and service!
Daniel Feasler
Food is pretty good, but a bit overpriced for what it is. Can take a while to get served during lunch (~30min wait). It is the only "foodie" type place in the area, so it's better than nothing.
David Strom
I love this place.... Food is so freaking delicious and the service so awesome!
The pork chop, ceaser salad, beet salad, polenta, and pizzas are the best in town!
Sharon Pierson
Interesting menu and really tasty. Great beer list.
VK
I miss the rotating soups , I used to specifically come out for the mushroom
Barley soup . It’s the little things that really just change it for me
Mia Diva
This is my go to in NE. Order at the counter and pick a seat. Whether at a table, the wine bar, a couch, or out on the patio, service is welcoming and attentive. Food is fresh and well presented. Close to PDX.
Dan Covel
This place is awesome. The staff is friendly and the food is great. The only catch with this place is that there is no service at the tables - you must order at the register.
Jonathan Nelson
Great food, but line, service, and food can take a while. Worth the wait in my opinion. I love the bacon wrapped dates.

Try their portobello sandwich it is to die for
Valerie Tewksbury
Best pork chop in town, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Jason Webber
Place is amazing. Great staff, amazing happy hour, a treat each time we go. Our favorite neighborhood spot. Sweet happy hour too!!!
C Craig Barton
A "just got to go" place. Unique BLT, Burgers, and pizzas.
The service was exceptional. Very genuine and concerned about my experience.

Christina Brown
Food was amazing and atmosphere was fantastic! Great spot, we will return and try everything on the menu!
Wayne Reno
Friendly, fast service. Killer pizza. Limited craft beer selection but the 6 available were very well curated.
ben vanderhoof
Great food and service. Gets busy at lunch you can beat the crowd if you go before noon. The food is worth a visit
Julie Sinner
The food was fabulous. The 1st lady at the counter was alittle snoby. The lady that brought our food was super kind. Made the expirience well worth our time.
Lysa Rae
Earthy, hipster environment. Great food: tasty, unique and fresh. Employees arent that friendly (only downside) so I order to-go.
Mike Baker
Food was great.. service was very meh however..had to go ask them for my check after sitting there with no food or drink for almost 15 mins..sad when you are sitting at the bar.
stewart P
Pizza looked amazing but was disappointed with the sauce. Tasted like spaghetti sauce. Crust was excellent.
Matt Armbrister
Just finished and the meal was incredible. If you don’t finish it with a sea salt chocolate cookie, you’re crazy.
Haley Whitaker

Simple menu, amazingly delicious food and a great environment. I would be happy to bring my family here again!

Pat Thomas
Super pork chop plus the peach salad makes a great combination for two. 4 people eat for 60 u.s. dollars!
CC P
Great service. Beef is from the owner's farm in Central Oregon. A great little hole in the wall you'd probably drive by...make sure you stop!
