The food was good, the staff was great, and we liked the atmosphere. It's a little pricey for what you get, but I'd definitely go back. We came on a Saturday around 1PM. There wasn't a line, but there were a couple people waiting for their food. When we ordered the woman at the counter was extremely friendly and personable and their menu is pretty straight forward, making it an easy process. After ordering you're handed a number and we got our drinks and sides and sat at the bar overlooking Camelback. My only complaint about this part of the process is that all their sides are in plastic containers in a cold bar, like you might find pre-packaged food at a deli. It felt a bit wasteful compared to maybe plated to order sides in a cardboard bowl or something. The food didn't take long, and everything was good. The mustard on my No. 20 was fantastic, and the potato salad and kale salad were both different takes on the dishes but we're both fantastic. The No. 35 was good as well, but it was pretty horseradish forward. The atmosphere while we were eating was nice, older rock music, but quiet enough to hold a conversation. My only other complaints were they only offer plastic utensils, even for dine in, and the prices were a little higher than I'd have liked. For two sandwiches (sides included), a potato sidekick, a coffee, and a tea our total was $42. I'd have been happier to be somewhere closer to $35 for the quality of the food.

The place is super cute with friendly staff. I like sitting outside under the misters. The best part is the coffee, which beats my favorite coffee shop in price. They have tasty flavor options and almond milk too (75¢ extra). The sandwiches are super unique and pretty good. It's worth a try at least once. The flavors mash together inside but the sandwich crust is pretty cool and crispy. They're more expensive but this is a great place for a casual outing! There's plenty of indoor and patio seating with parking nearby. Tip: make sure to look at the crust lips so that the shorter one is on top. I flipped mine and then it started leaking

What a delightful little sandwich shop! These are pressed sandwiches that have a very similar vibe to uncrustables. There are lots of creative options, including a fair amount of vegetarian options. I came with a group who all got different things, and although some of us weren’t blown away, there were a few standout sandwiches, like the Mediterranean vegetarian sandwich. My main note is that the portions are small since the sandwiches are basically little pockets for everything inside!

So good! Just wish they had a few more options. I got the no.60 and it was delicious! The pulled pork was perfect and the cheese added a little extra! The bread is so good and different and added a crispy grilled cheese texture! Their lemonade is amazing and is so good on a hot day in Phoenix! Next time you’re craving sandwiches this is definitely the place to go!

Top-notch service and sandwiches! While visiting from out of town, I took my parents here for the first time. The staff was very patient, kind, and knowledgeable which really helped. They made great recommendations and we loved what we got. We’ll definitely be back!

Sandwiches are always delicious here. With lunch you get a side salad of choice (I normally choose potato) and your sandwich. I got a cappuccino today and somehow ended up paying $18 for lunch for one. I would skip the coffee and go to AJs right by if you need a caffeine fix. Portions are small for the price but it is all very tasty with fresh ingredients.

We truly miss going to Zookz since we moved to the East Valley. So we decided to make a trip into town for brunch. I went with my favorite #11, which is two poached eggs, cheddar, cream cheese, tomatoes and basil. Perfectly cooked and delicious. The Husband went with the #22 which is two poached eggs, bacon, ham, cheddar, black beans, avocado and Zookz chipotle sauce. He also tried the Grated Potatoes Baked with cheese. He ate every crumb of both. If you are near Uptown, stop in. You won't be sorry.

I came for breakfast and I got #11 and #66. I tried half of each. My favorite was definitely #11 everything it came with tasted good together. I almost told them not to put cream cheese but I’m glad I kept it how it came. Ordering online was easy and the order was ready to pick up pretty fast. Which is good for when you are in a rush and need to eat something fast.

Very unique concept for sandwiches and tasty, I enjoyed it alot. Only complaint is the sandwich is very small, and I was still hungry even with side salad. Wasn't too impressed with side salad either. But knit picking aside awesome grilled sandwiches, and staff was super friendly. Someone from kitchen maybe owner came out and asked how food was. I'll be back for more, I'll just buy 2 sandwiches for myself next time. 😁

Wow, just holy cow wow! Carole and her crew have created a delicious sandwich. With a wonderful story of her Grandmother and how the sandwiches were created, Carole has brought this technique back to share with the lucky people who visit her restaurant. I was thrilled to have the No. 20; Turkey, Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Avocado, Tomato, and their Zookz sweet heat mustard sauce. It was an explosion of flavors in my mouth. Paired with a salad and drink, a steal for $8.50 plus tax. I'll be back again and wish my sweetie was by my side to partake in this delicious excursion.

Tried this on a whim and this was delicious. The sandwiches are different than others due to how they are cooked and having much higher quality ingredients than other companies. They also had salads which I clearly didn't try but also didn't see anyone eating. Now I am allergic to wheat but can have some cross contamination. They did have gluten free bread but warned everywhere that they are not a gluten free facility. The sandwich was perfect, crunchy outside, squishy inside and flavorful. I will absolutely visit again, it was a great lunch, perfectly priced for the food and great location.

I can't get enough of the awesome sandwiches offered here. The unique and healthy options on Panini-like toasted bread is a killer lunch option one must try. Also a great place to hit up when you are craving a breakfast sandwich any time of day. Also, they just started serving alcohol too!

Our party of five had a lovely meal. The open front of the store helps the smaller space feel open and they maximize the interior seating. The drink options are solid and you can get hard cider. The sandwiches are unique and pressed, with delicious ingredients inside. The ham, turkey, bean, avocado, and egg was amazing. The eggs poach so nice, and make a good choice for breakfast or lunch. A sandwich that wasn't sealed on the sides couldn't hold the amount of food that a Zookz does!

Nice place. Very clean and professional. The owner was very polite and the restaurant’s story is fascinating. You can get alcoholic drinks here, and although I didn’t get a breakfast sandwich, breakfast and lunch are available all day. The number 20 is the most popular for a reason. It was delicious. I also enjoyed the “Almond Mocha Rocca Iced Latte”

Saw it the day before on 3TV. If Scott Pasmore eats something with vegetables on it you better go try it. 3TV claimed this was the best breakfast sandwich in Phoenix. I still have more to try but this is on top of my list currently! Went with the number 44: two egg frittata, bacon, ham ,feta cheese, parmesan, roasted red peppers & fresh basil. This was stupid delicious. I could tell from what I saw on TV the crust was going to be the best part but it is so much better than your eyes let you see. I have so many things I want stuffed in it. Every bite, crust, eggy goodness and bacon explosions. Split the number 20: Thinly sliced turkey, bacon, fresh avocado,tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese zookz sweet heat mustard sauce. This was out of this world! even with the sauce. But don't get me wrong I like the sauce. I just wasn't expecting it cuz I didn't know it was on it. My friend ordered this. I knew what to expect with mine but not with this. The sauce is sweet and it works but I feel like it could have worked without it. Me personally I'd swap it out with the chipotle sauce and be okay. But it was bananas how good it was. I got the Mimosa sandwich combo amazing deal. $10. The passion fruit Mimosa was so damn good. I don't even drink often but I chugged this down like I was going day drinking. I wasn't. Now we didn't get our side salad and both agreed we were still a little hungry. I think if we'd gotten the side salad with the second sandwich we wouldn't have been. What I would love is if they had something with the breakfast items like the side salad with the lunch. We weren't sure if it was cause we got drinks instead of, or of it was forgotten but it was all good. I would pay good money for cheesy hashbrowns. shredded potatoes stuffed with cheese toasted in that amazing toaster. Steal my idea. Overall amazing value great food will be back want to know how much they'll let you customize. Sorry bout the teeth marks in the pics I had to eat it right away.

We passed by this place looking for something healthy to eat in the morning for lunch. Never heard of this type of sandwich but by the pictures I was curious to try out. Will say I was not disappointed at all with this spot. The food was delicious and did not feel heavy after eating. Gotta say it got the job done.

My kids and I have been on a culinary adventure this summer trying different places and foods we haven’t tried before. Out of the 10 or so places we’ve tried this is my first review because it was literally that good. I got the No. 20 and I loved that it wasn’t a lot of bread, perfect ratio of meat, cheese, veggies and dressing! I like warm meals, but in the summer it’s hard to find meals that are warm but also light and filling and don’t feel heavy… Zookz definitely hit the nail on the head for what I was looking for! Will definitely be a repeat customer!

Absolutely amazing! Unique, delicious, and they have vegetarian options. I was rushing to order and misread the #25 which had black beans, ham, avocado, cheese, and tomato. I totally skipped the ham part, the owner saw me picking my sandwich apart and walked over to my table and asked if everything was alright. I said yes, and she again asked and I mentioned that I misread. She offered me two vegetarian options for no charge which was above and beyond on customer service. I picked the "Caprese Style". It's amazing! Out of guilt I ordered a drink to show them I would've been more than happy to pay for it. The green tea is refreshing and the drink cups are huge. Mashed potato salad is delicious! Will be going back and recommending to everyone! Had an amazing first time experience. Thanks so much for a great lunch.

This is a friggin amazing eatery. The sandwich I had (No.11 without bacon) was delicious, with chips and a Bai beverage. Wow wow wow. The sandwich is clearly the reason they are in existence. Toasted filled sandwiches. Oh my goodness. I have found a new GO TO place for lunch. Simply phenomenal. Oh and another thing. The staff is simply delightful. The person taking my order came from around the counter to look at the menu with me and discuss my options. I'm a believer. And it's right next to Nektar on Camelback. This is a nice bohemian vibey strip. Arizona is fast growing on me.

Zooks is a great and friendly salad and sandwich shop in this new and upcoming area. The side salads are pretty decent and a great side to a tastey breakfast sandwich. Kale and potato salads were fresh and delicious. The sandwiches are stuffed with your choice of options and basically sealed shut around the ends, much like a grilled cheese sandwich with sealed edges. I'll definitely return and happy to come here if I'm in the area.

The one place to which I always yearn to return. The sandwiches are unique, always perfectly prepared, and taste amazing. USA Today said it has the best breakfast sandwich in Arizona, and I agree. With vegetarian options also available, you're bound to find your perfect sandwich here. Homemade side dishes, such as potato salad, kale salad, chips, and their new Potato Bake add to the exceptional main dish. A full complement of beverages, including alcoholic, are also available to round out the meal. If you haven't yet tried Zookz, I highly suggest it.

We come here every couple weeks for lunch. Sandwiches are delicious and love the vegan option! My partner loves the breakfast sandwich it's called the #66 and it has bacon egg and cream cheese among some other things. They have other breakfast sandwiches too but the #66 seems to be the favorite! The vegan option which is the #40 has tomato avocado potato black beans and vegan cheese/chipotle sauce. Their kale salad is also delicious. My partner took their dad here when they were visiting from out of state. He was very impressed and said the sandwiches were tasty and unique. Whenever we come here the staff is friendly and when the owner is working she says hi too. She is very nice. Love having Zooks in the neighborhood and will look forward to coming here regularly!

Being a foodie from the east coast I am delighted to have had lunch at Zookz. First and foremost the quality of the food was awesome and the ingredients very fresh. The service was prompt and the manager was quick to give my group the rundown. The value was exceptional. I just moved to Arizona. My sister-in-law and I were starving one day and happened upon this little gem. We have been there twice now and each time we spend a solid 10 minutes discussing which sandwich we want! They are all so good that you can't really go wrong. This place is soooooooo AMAZING!!! I got their #33 and it is absolutely to die for. My only thing is that I wish the sandwiches were a bit bigger (that's just me being a fattie though haha), and I wish they had more vegetarian options :) Their drinks are also a bit on the price side, but they are super fresh! And their grated potatoes are delicious too.

This is such a cute sheik little spot, with a nice patio area. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It was my first visit, but definitely not my last. The food was delicious. I was glad to hear they sell breakfast all day. I ordered the #22 with a carmel, almond milk latte & chips. Although they did have some yummy fresh salads to choose from. I've been here a few times. This last time I forgot to say I wanted a gluten free sandwich until I got the food, and I agreed that I'll pay the extra fee for the gluten free option. Could have charged me with a whole extra sandwich, it was totally my fault. They also brought out an extra salad when I brought it back they said I can have it 😭. They put the customer first it's the best place for a gluten free sandwich in phoenix. I won't make that mistake again, really appreciate you guys. Also please don't get rid of the gf option, I won't be able to buy without I have celiac disease. Love this place. I did really like the sandwich with roast beef and horse radish but the new one with pico de Gallo was just as good so its all good

My husband and I ride our bikes to this place when the weather permits, we always have a #20 absolutely delicious with a kale salad very good too and a passion fruit mimosa. We have been going to zooks since they were in the old location..we can't get these kind of sandwiches anywhere else they are very unique and delicious!! Would recommend it to anyone

Great experience! Food was delicious, nice spin on the traditional sandwich. They make their horseradish from scratch and it's delicious. Excellent customer service as well, two different people came to check on me and see how I was doing too which was appreciated. The bathroom was really clean too, which is always a good sign.

All I can say is WOW!!! So thankful we came across Zookz on our trip today!! The sandwiches are amazing...I really really wish we had this concept at home. I have been walking past it on my way to the other wonderful eateries nearby Zooks for a couple of years until yesterday. I decided to stop and check. Wow! Was I pleased. I ordered #10. Wow, such an amazing sandwich place with an amazing story behind it! I had the No. 35: roast beef, bacon, potatoes, cheddar cheese, and horseradish sauce. To die for! I also tried the No. 20: turkey, bacon, cheddar, tomatoes, avocado with a honey mustard sauce. So freaking good!

My co-workers and I go to lunch every Friday and thought we try Zook's as a new place. We hit the one downtown on Washington. Oh my gosh, are we happy that we did! Three of us had the #20 which was DELICIOUS! Another had a salad (which she said was great) and another the vegetarian with black beans (and loved it). One of the gals forgot to ask for no sauce on the #20, it was delivered and she said that was okay. Nope they told her they would make her a fresh sandwich. The owner came over and chatted with us. We will definitely be going back. Only suggestion, larger tables and sweet potato fries on the menu :)

The chairs aren't that cozy for an extended lunch, but that's okay because this place is perfect for a quick but filling bite to eat! The combinations are creative and of the many things I have tried, they are all good. Though beware that the dessert sandwiches are too rich to eat by yourself so bring a friend! Stopped in on my lunch break from work and I was very hungry. I ordered a number sixty and when I was brought the sandwich I was a little disappointed. I felt the sandwich looked so small and thought that it couldn't possibly curb my appetite, but I was so wrong! This little sandwich was jam-packed with flavor and was the perfect amount to leave me satiated, but not overly stuffed. I am also a huge fan of tea and they had a very delicious Prickly Pear tea cold brew. The staff were all friendly and the owner stopped by to ask me how my meal was which was nice.

I come here sometimes more than others. But i’m never let down by the quality and taste of the food Carole is serving. Everything is delicious, priced competitively for the area, and the service is exceptional. Today i ordered a new special she is trying out, but forgot i can’t have chorizo until after i started eating (the occasion i do order food with chorizo i’m always nauseous after). Carole stopped by my table as she usually does and asked how everything was, and after i mentioned how i made the mistake of ordering food with chorizo in it, not only did she offer to make another without it or sub in something else, she offered a different sandwich to-go but finally pushed a cookie on me for FREE. And for the record, i was very adamant that she didn’t need to apologize or make up for it at all, but she believes in customer service. Bring your friends and family here, don’t think just do it!

The sandwiches are so simple and yet I've never tasted anything like them! They are so so good you will really be doing yourself and your tongue a disservice if you do not eat here! My recommendation: Try the #66 which is the best breakfast sandwich you'll ever have and try one of their kale salads! I know, kale, but seriously it has fruit and nuts in it and it so sweet and delicious you'd be crazy to not try it! I will definitely be back again and again! We are glad we chose Zookz, we both got the No. 22 breakfast and I would highly suggest it. Can't say it is any better then the rest, as I have not had anything else there, but definitely happy with our first pick.

If anyone out there is from the Midwest and knows what a pie iron is then save your money. We know all about camping and bringing along ingredients to make cold-cuts into toasted sandwiches over the camp fire. The truth is without the coals and hickory the experience won't be recreated. These guys call it "the contraption" but we know better. I got the No 20 and it was a good snack with a bag of chips. 3 stars for fast , friendly service but the sandwich is nothing to write home about and for $9.25 including tax I hoped to be wow'ed considering the portion offered. In fairness, lunch is normally my largest meal of the day, so I won't be back due to portion size, taste was bland ( not bad really, but could have been the particular sandwich I got) and price.

Granted we were asking a ton of questions (some of us are on a strict diet and were trying to be healthy about it all), the staff was really patient with us and answered all of our questions. Sit back and I'll tell you the tale of a weary hungry traveler and a wonderful suprise. A day of traveling left me disoriented, hungry and run down. Although the car was full of gas, my stomach was running on empty. Panicked I began to let fear and anxiety overcome me, while my mind raced for a solution. My journey took me past a few options: Mcdonalds, meh, Subway, hard pass, burger king, I would rather go hungry. My stomach growled and grumbled..."feed me" it roared. Desperation set in, darkness surrounding me while my eyes fell upon a bright ray of sunshine. The sign read Zookz, a sandwich shop with the most welcoming atmosphere and vibe. Scanning the menu I ordered a number 35, salivating I patiently awaited my order. Once the sandwich arrived I was shocked....."this sandwich is round, where are the corners? How can I see inside?" I exclaimed. The delicious smell of food curled around my nose and without thinking I picked up the sandwich and took my first bite. All I can say, as words do not give it justice, is a wave of flavorful bliss washed over me. Belly full and content I left the shop destined to return again. This weary now satisfied traveler was ready to take on the day and it all due to the wonderful sandwiches at zookz.
