Reviews of The Victor Café

Had a great time here for our anniversary dinner. Service was a bit slow, but our server was excellent and they were very busy. Loved hearing the very talented staff sing opera! The crab ravioli with saffron cream sauce was phenomenal.

Where to start..... the staff is amazing! Their talents will leave your jaw dropped! The food... Amazing! Everything was prepared to perfection! This IS an entire vibe and you need to go experience it! Thank me later!🥰

Great food. Great atmosphere. Incredible singing during your meal. Has an old school Italian restaurant vibe. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. You won't be disappointed.

We had one of the best dining
experiences of our lives tonight while
visiting family in Philadephia. Where
do we start? The waitress named
MARISSA was incredibly charming
and delightful and made us feel so
special and welcome. Long with that
MARISSA is so talented and as with
other waiters and waitresses there
will sing opera while patrons are
enjoying their fabulous dinners.
MARISSA sang a song from the
musical The Music Man, entitled
"Till It Was You”
and capped the
night off. Treat yourself to a dinner at
The Victor Cafe and enjoy authentic
Italian cuisine and float on the
enchanting operatic songs. There
were 5 sung just during our dinner.
Unique and wonderful. A very special
night with family. David and Martha

First time here and surely won’t be the last. Surprised my girlfriend who loved it as well. The service, food, and singing were all fantastic. The staff was passionate not only about the history of the establishment but about the food as well. Truly ‘south Philly portions’ that you can appreciate. We got the pasta with scallops and shrimp (delicious) and pork chop with mashed potatoes (again, spectacular - juicy and perfectly cooked over a sauce that I’m going to have to try and replicate at home).
Also the mussels in the spicy option. Absolutely delicious. The bread we also got was perfect to soak it all up too!
Would highly highly recommend to anyone looking for a truly unique south Philly experience.
Also the drinks were fantastic! Got a whisky cocktail that was very well prepared and strong.
Went on a Friday night WITH a reservation, which was helpful especially since we wanted to sit inside. Credit cards are accepted!

The food was excellent, the waitress Joylyn was attentive and pleasant as well. Her voice was amazing! I did not know that they sang every half hour. Defintely would stop by when I am back in town.

Had dinner here and it did not disappoint!! All the pasta specials were phenomenal, as well as the cocktails! The love opera is also awesome and makes this a great date spot.
Cristina Morales-Varga
Good was delicious! The opera singers fantastic our waiter; Branton was amazing! We arrive there at 5:50 pm and we were going to a concert at 7 pm. He was on point with everything so we could make it on time, very nice and polite. We loved the whole experience! Highly recommend!

The experience, food and drinks were phenomenal. Couldn’t have asked for a better dinner! De’Saun was a wonderful server and went above and beyond for our party. Will definitely come back every time I’m in town, and it’s no wonder they’ve kept the reputation & reviews they have after nearly 100 years!

Food was good. Excellent staff. Amazing atmosphere. The opera singing is something different and I loved it. I was there for a work dinner and will be bringing my wife back.
Crystal Selman-Jennings
Had such an amazing experience at this restaurant! All their waiters/waitresses are singers and take turns performing. Our waiter, Ryan, was phenomenal!!!!! A++ customer service. We asked Ryan if he could sing for us, and although he was getting over a cold, he went up and sang for us. I really could go on and on about how wonderful he was. On top of the fantastic customer service the food was amazing, from the appetizers to dessert! If your looking for a place to celebrate your anniversary, on a date, or simply want great food, music, and customer service, this is the place to go. I will be going back soon and hopefully on a day that Ryan is working.

Victor cafe is certainly an experience. It’s a fun place to get a bottle of wine and eat until you need a nap. The mussels and broccoli rabe were wonderful, the entrees were decent but I enjoyed the appetizers more truthfully. It’s definitely somewhere you should go at least once
Anthony Aguilera
Excellent Food. Wonderful Service. Magical Moments created every time one of the servers sing. Highly Recommended.

Great experience, good food for the price and great ambiance. Do not forget to see the corner dedicated to rocky. Probably the best Italian restaurant in Philadelphia. We recommend 100%
Joe S
The food and atmosphere were finest in Italian dining. The talent of the staff amazing. My Son, his fiance, my wife & I celebrated 3 birthdays on this night.

We came here because it stands in as Rocky’s restaurant “Adrian’s” in the Rocky Balboa and Creed movies, but we would have enjoyed it regardless. It’s a unique experience in which each server is also a trained opera singer. Every 20 minutes or so, a server performs an aria. The food was pretty good.
nicholas yannaco
I have visited Victor Café twice since 2019 and cannot wait to visit again. Like many I found Victor through its exposure from the Rocky and Creed movies. As a fan of the movies it is almost surreal walking in to "Adrian's" and seeing the bar where Paulie sat. I called ahead to request a specific table. No problem at all. We sat in Spider Rico's booth and the table in the back room where Conlin challenged Creed. Thank you for being so accomdating! Once seated you begin to take in the unique and sophisticated atmosphere of the room. Our waiter and waitress both times were seasoned, professional and expedient. Both times very friendly and always ready with an awesome menu suggestion. To our suprise, every 15-20 minutes one of the staff sings opera to the restaurant. My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the singing and live-entertainment. After dinner we grabbed a delicious night cap upstairs in the Rocky themed bar. I had a tasty white Russian and admired the LeRoy Neiman artwork on display. If you are anywhere near Philly this is one of those unique places that you need to see for yourself. Check it out.

This place deserved a review. I was so excited to eat here. Someone had recommended it because I love Opera and have never seen anyone sing it live. Yesterday was my Birthday 🎂 and let me just say I did not have a good day. My reservations for 3 ended up being only me. So I was a little down when I arrived. I spent the first 15 minutes of my time talking on the phone about what I had went through that day. So when I was seated I wasn't really present.
I put my phone down to hear the first waitress sing behind the make shift screen that was up I'm assuming because of Covid restrictions.
That's when I clicked in. I started looking around at all the beautiful photos and warm ambience of the restaurant. It felt like I was in a small town in Italy somewhere. The music filled my ears and called a peace from deep down in me. I watched the faces of the customers so lovingly engaged with their families and like myself lost in the music.
My waitress recommended an appetizer and I picked the mussels in white sauce and main course of pork chop with garlic mashed potatoes and apples. The food was delicious. My waitress switched my table for me so that I could get a better view of the performances which where around the corner from my table. I wish I had known about this place prepandemic so that I could see the waitresses walking around while singing.
The building really is charming they offer valet parking out front so I didn't have to walk in the heat with high heels. There is dining out front under romantic lights the upstairs where the bathrooms are located has a separate dining area it's really nice up there and a small bar. Down stairs has 3 different dining area and bar.
The other customers where so friendly that I didn't feel alone getting happy birthdays from so many people. I believe it was because of the atmosphere of the restaurant.
The staff was so warm welcoming and talented. I can't remember my waitresses name but she was a beautiful curvy woman with curly hair. Her voice moved me most of all that night.
Before I left she brought me a cup of whipped cream with a candle with my dessert (chocolate cake). Thank you Victors. For a great night. Worth money for a delicious meal and talented staff.
My tiny thing I wish is that there was a little bit more light for picture taking lol. I wanted to get some really nice photos but below are a few.
Katrina Serrano
The performances were absolutely lovely! The food was good. I ordered the crab special and was not super impressed because there was some crab shell in the filling and the sauce felt like it was just cream and too much of it but overall flavors were nice. The desserts are wonderful and the bread and pesto dip is a great way to start a meal.
Rafiga Imanova
I went here for a first date with my current partner, and this is a very romantic location. If you’re looking to dine in. In the restaurant, they have a roll every 15 minutes one of the waiters seen a piece from an opera. They’re all professionals therefore, they all sound amazing. and you will actually have authentic Italian food. The inside of the restaurant is very nicely designed. Definitely perfect dinner date location if that’s what you’re looking for. Just letting you know if you’re looking for a normal priced Italian food. This is not it. The food here was a little bit more expensive. But was every 15 minute opera shows I think it was worth it.
Cliff Jones
Romantic? Check. Primo Food? Check. Impressive in so many nuanced ways? ✔️ ✔️✔️-✔️ all the way from the check this N that moments on the menu to the Check itself. Forewarned is Forearmed so get ready When they break out THAT Bell; (The Ancient l-o-n-g wooden-handled brass bell that looks like it was forged with that 'Other' Famous Philly Bell 🔔, the one with the crack.) Virtually everything and everyone comes to a halt and the staccato Dining ambiance of a 100+ year old Italian Bistro remarkably crashes in to a spiraling crescendo of starkly contrasted silence. A pause that truly refreshes as the wait staff are trained Operatic Singers who magnificently sing their Hearts out for US. Their Angelic voices are a perfect melding with the Food and Vibes of a unique dining experience everyone should be honored to bear witness to. I shamelessly hawk this place to everyone. Going to the game, any of the Games? No? I get that part too. However, if at any point you can swing it Please check in and Enjoy-Enjoy! Especially all of you Lovebirds looking for Fun with your Dinner & a Show. What about the Family aspects? Just do it.
Ross Sadler
While I am not an opera fanatic, my father in law is a classically trained singer and was asking to the victor cafe when they visit from out of town. He was not disappointed. Very friendly staff with amazing singing. Great food as well. Make sure you make your reservation well In advance as dinner books up early on the weekends.
Ryan L
Food was pretty good. But the service and singing brought it to 5 stars. Definitely will be back.
Susan Zurick
Still the same and better still. Food is exceptional, atmosphere is familiar and the signing is exhilarating! The outside added dining is great, wish I knew ahead of time and the box where the servers sign their aurias was great since the sound resonates like the shower. A must do while in Philly
Kelly Kay
My first experience at this restaurant was ~8 years ago, I had a wonderful time and thought the food was great. I went again last weekend for a birthday, and was very disappointed. The atmosphere was off and the food was not good. My pasta dish tasted like fruit loops…
Todd Porter
The signing was beautiful! We had the pleasure to listen to 4 singers - two gentlemen and two ladies. Each had a different style, but they all introduced their songs and the stories of the opera (and one Broadway melody) before singing. They were charming. It was a pleasure when our own waiter got up to sing an aria.
The food was absolutely delicious. We were a large party with 3 kids and everyone was happy with their entrees. The drinks were quirky and fun.
This was the highlight of our trip to Philadelphia.
Sue Ward-Diorio
Fantastic. Nothing like live singing by incredibly talented artists who are your waiters, while enjoying delicious food. A unique experience that I have not found anywhere else. Opera lover or not, if you appreciate good music you will be pleased.
Charles Corson
Authentic Italian (mostly Tuscan and northern) food in a bistro-style atmosphere. The wait staff are professionally-trained opera singers and belt out an aria and sometimes a Broadway tune every 20 minutes. Valet parking is great because it's difficult to find a spot in the neighborhood.
Kyle V
Such an awesome place for any occasion. Old-school enough for a casual dinner and upscale enough to celebrate an anniversary. That’s a hard line to tip-toe, but they do it so well! Food and service is top notch. The music is just the cherry on top
Joseph Maute
Back again!! This time we sat outside first time ever great time beautiful wife and they sing to you from the balcony above the food is great the service is fantastic. I know it’s a special event place that I’m there at least every other month with friends or not. Every meal is fantastic the wine selection is fabulous and the drinks are really good. Very clean and the upstairs bar room is great for before dinner or after dinner A must see
Lynda Finlay
The singing performances from the musicians were by far the highlight of the evening. Classically trained voices that resound throughout the room.
And the food was delicious from start to finish. We happened to be there while a documentary was being filmed. Mr. Stallone and his family were being filmed while enjoying the evening.
James Gentile
Best Tiramisu on the East Coast! Unique, authentic Italian restaurant in South Philly where the waiters and waitresses sing live opera every 20 minutes. Truly a great place. Service is outstanding, food is authentic. Come here for a great South Philly experience or a unique date night.
Justin Shelley (Massage Therapist)
This dining establishment is outstanding in every conceivable way. The opera was fantastic, the meal was jaw-droppingly incredible, and the service was extremely cordial and pleasant. A memorable evening that will not be lost on anyone anytime soon!
Anthony Gornall
Wow, what can I say?
We arrived with a late reservation and it was outside. I asked if it was possible to be seated inside and without any problems, the lovely host seated us inside after also sitting us upstairs right in front of all the Rocky memorabilia. We was then seated in the nicest position you could wish for and the opera singers😍 OMG
I brought my boy too Philly on a mad dash of only 5 hours in the city. We arrived from New York and did the last open top bus tour. Then we walked through market Street all the way to this lovely restaurant. He's 15 and he was taken aback by the opera singers.
The food was delicious and I will endeavour to come back from the UK with my wife and daughter also in tow to sample this lovely historical restaurant.
I can only salute the staff and host. Thankyou for an amazing memory
Dan Colgan
Wonderful food and very talented wait staff where they sing Opera. Go and enjoy the whole experience
Jess Barr
Not only is the food amazing but the opera singing is wonderful! We had an amazing dinner and the talent was unforgettable. If you have the chance to go do it!
Marianne D'Antonio
A wonderful atmosphere to go along with the delicious four course meal. Each dish prepared perfectly and the cocktails were so tasty! No wonder they are still a South Philly mainstay.
Heidi Mussoline
So fun! I’d heard from my husband for years about this place and expected it to be a bit gaudy… but it was such a great experience! Not just opera, some musical theatre too, and the food was wonderful!
Rachel Whelan
Dined in with a reservation while in town, no issues placing the reservation. Our servers were very attentive and professional. I wish we had known about the bar upstairs; it looked like a cool place to get a drink. The dining area downstairs is very old-school Italian. We heard four singers over the course of our dinner and were only really impressed by one. Probably our standard was for something higher and for more than just a two minute aria floating around the space every 20 minutes. Our food was hit or miss: my husband's mussels and veal were exceptional and a great value, but my arancini were three sad fried rice balls floating in a sea of tomato sauce, and my mushroom ravioli was swimming in such a disgustingly heavy gorgonzola cream sauce that I couldn't finish it. As a vegetarian, I was disappointed that my only options were this creamy ravioli or a pasta primavera. For the cost of the meal and the quality of the food, I was unimpressed. For the entertainment....maybe I just expected better based on all of the reviews. Seems like the kind of place you take your parents to.
Gia Arnold
Wait staff was fabulous. Menu was minimal but we all found something that we wanted to try. The mushroom ravioli was very good but the dough wasn't cooked enough.
Ray S
If you have never been, you need to go check out this restaurant. You'll get an experience of a lifetime! My first time here and the waiter and waitresses sing Opera while you are eating. It was truly Amazing and worth the experience!
Olivier S
Wanted to dislike it. Expected it to be naff. Loved it! Victor Cafe is famous for the opera singing between courses, which is great - especially for a birthday dinner. The singers introduce each piece themselves and some of them are excellent. But the old style American-Italian food is also better than good, the prices are reasonable, and the room has a charming feeling of history and tradition. Worth a detour.
JB McDonald
Fantastic food all around, welcoming, warm, and cozy environment, with basically all of the performers amazing. A performance takes place what seems to be every 10-15 minutes, and with the average time spent there, that’s about the perfect amount. (Incase you’re unfamiliar, each waiter/waitress performs opera in the restaurant.)
Akshay Rao
Food was fantastic, the Ambience eclectic.. Live singing by every staff every 10 minutes it's just the Cherry on top! If you're looking to celebrate an event, go here.. If you love music (opera style) go here.. Drinks were great and well! Valet parking for 12$
Tom Baker
Loved everything about The Victor Cafe. The food, service and atmosphere is top notch. Mix that with some live opera every 20 mins. Don't miss out on the upstairs lounge for a pre or post dinner cocktail
The Dreamer
I love going to Victor's for a special occasion. Usually Birthdays. Someone introduced me to Victor's years ago for my birthday and now I enjoy taking family and friends here for their birthdays. Always great service and Amazing food. I suggest going before it gets busy personally because I'm not a fan of crowds. Truly a unique experience with different members of the staff singing various opera pieces every 20 minutes or so. I highly recommend.
Steven Lundahl
What a wonderful time we've just had! The food is excellent and all the wait staff are budding young opera singers! Every 20 minutes or so one of them rings a bell, announces what he or she is going to sing with a brief description of the text and context and then proceeds to sing accompanied by a recorded accompaniment. All of the singers were very good and one, a mezzo, was spectacular. As a professional orchestral musician and teacher, it was such a delight to hear these talented and skilled young people. I will be definitely be coming here again!!
Nem Kashanian
I can't say enough about this amazing place. Let's start off with the old school Italian Philadelphia History of this place. Absolutely beautiful. The staff is world class, they are all classically trained opera singers. We heard 3 songs in an hour all beautiful. Our waitress overheard me tell my friend I'm paying because it was his birthday Month. And they gave us a free dessert and sang Happy birthday. The food was really great. We had burrata, raviloi of wild mushroom, pasta with salmon and egg row in vadka sause, veal and calamari. All we're outstanding. I will go back again and again
Ju Liu
I've heard about Victor Cafe from a friend last year, and finally came here for dinner yesterday. And WOW, I have to say, it was better than I had imagined. I don't even know where to begin. The food was delicious. This is authentic and delicious Italian food, and you know the food is good when you're looking through the Yelp pictures, except it tastes ten times better. The bread they give you in the beginning has a cake like texture, and the green cilantro, parsley oil they provided for you to dip the bread in is so delicious. For dinner, we started with the fried calamari and fried smelts, both were good. The calamari was pretty standard and the fried smelts were a lil fishy, but we like that so that's okay with us. The servers would perform live opera every so often during our meal, we probably heard 4 servers sing while we were there. They were truly talented and their voices amazing. Definitely made for a cool dining experience. For our main dishes, my party had the Prince Igor, Fra Diavolo, Dido & Aeneas, Pasta Caruso and the Branzino. Everyone pretty much devoured everything on their plates. Unfortunately when it came to dessert, I was too full, the dessert menu presented many choices that were very tempting and hard to choose from. Finally, my husband and my brother-in-law decided on the tiramisu and the panna cotta and both said they were delicious.

very nice restaurant. delicious cuisine, pleasant atmosphere. the operatic singing of the waiters captivates.
Christine Mondello
Second time taking my mom here for her birthday. Did not think it could top last year which was a complete surprise for her....I was incorrect. They really DO look at requests. Our server, Courtney, sang her favorite aria from Gianni Schichi and sang it beautifully. AND the entire staff surprised her with an operatic Happy Birthday. The food was amazing. Crab stuffed ravioli light as air. Chicken Tosca over the creamiest polenta ever. And the most fantastic bread pudding I have ever tasted. Thank you once again for a wonderful evening. We were tempted to keep ordering more food just to justify taking up a table and listening to the beautiful voices lifted in song.
Scott Buek
Always good for the food, music even more and just the feeling of the history of the Cafe and ties to the Victor Talking Machine Co.
Rohini Singh
This is a hidden gem. Dinning here is an experience - culinary and soulful. I'm so glad that I finally made it to this place. The restaurant is cozy with an Italian Cafe decor, which adds a lot of charisma to this place.
We enjoyed Chicken piccata and Prince Igor, with a side of complementary and delicious bread and olive oil. Their desserts are heavenly and it's difficult to choose what would want, because everything on the list looks delicious. The lemon sorbet has a unique presentation wherein it is presented inside a hollowed lemon.
6 out of 5 stars to the servers. They are all Opera singers and they perform every 15-20min. This makes dinning an amazing experience.
I would recommend reserving table ahead of time as the restaurant is a hot favorite. I'm

To be honest we only went here because it's where Rocky and Creed were filmed (Rocky's restaurant Adrian's) but we really, really enjoyed it.
The service (by waiters and waitresses who were all opera singers and sang arias throughout the evening - a pleasant surprise), were all super friendly and helpful.
The food was really authentic Italian. Delicious. We had a variety of dishes such as Melanzane Parmegiana, steak and pasta dishes and they were all really nice.
If you're in Philly it's definitely worth a visit!
Charles Tomasello
The solo opera performances make this a must visit. The performances were amazing and professional. Every 20 minutes, they ring a bell, and the performer gives an introduction and explanation before singing. They all sound amazing.
The restaurant itself is very unique and very quaint. The art and walls added to the experience. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was above average with large portion sizes. The restaurant was very well maintained and clean.
Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and I plan to go again.

Post COVID-19: DINING OPTIONS ARE NOW ALFRESCO AND TAKEOUT; limited seating, reservations recommended.
Fantastic dining experience! Terrific for special occasions and date nights in Philadelphia. Anais is a skilled soprano vocalist and phenomenal waitress. We are privileged to have been a pre-COVID guest here.
Photography and videography during the frequent vocal performances once forbidden is an excellent opportunity while dining alfresco.
HAROLD GREENFIELD
Enjoyed their opera along with Veal. Excellent Caesar Salad and Calamari
Tanya Koller
Did someone say opera with your dinner? This little hidden gem is a must see when visiting Philadelphia. The food is authentic Italian, the décor is wonderful and the opera singers are fabulous. Little did I know that our server had such a fantastic talent. No pictures or videos allowed during performance.
Bhakti Chavda
A friend recommended this place to me as it is quite popular for live opera.
Let's start by talking about the ambiance first. It's an intimate setting with performances from the staff. You could see they were singing passionately and it was a welcome change from the 'chill and hip' music that you get to hear in most restaurants. Definitely go if you want to experience something totally different.
Now for the food. It's actually quite good despite being a little expensive. Their burrata with roasted peppers and garlic crostini was my favorite. Fresh cheese and the smoky sweet peppers worked really well together.
Next up, we ordered their mushroom and ricotta ravioli and pomodoro basilico. While the ravioli was beautiful, the pomodoro basilico was ordinary. I particularly relished the porcini mushroom ravioli stuffing.
With great portion size and a generous serving of bread that they serve with pesto oil (quite light but great taste), we decided to move on to the desserts. Now, two of the three desserts were quite good but the third one just fell flat.
Recommend the chocolate custard cake and tiramisu but skip the chocolate mousse dish (can't remember the name).
Overall a good experience. A little away from downtown Philly but definitely worth a visit for the experience and comforting Italian food.
Joe W
Great old school Italian restaurant. Service was great. Loved the crab ravioli. Our server Joy Lynne is a tremendously talented singer!
debbie bucy
We took our grand daughter to dinner for her birthday and to celebrate her starting college in the area. She was here from Austin, TX. They used to sing happy birthday, but this time the waitress just set a canolli with a candle in it in front of her and said happy birthday. It was a bit underwhelming. But the food was good and the arias were excellent.
Livio D'Aversa
Great service, amazing decor and food. A must for anyone in the area especially for the Rocky movie fans
Jack Westbrook
Service was mediocre food was average chicken was over cooked salmon was overcooked. We had a big group they would not let us split the bills it took us over a half an hour and finally one of our party paid everything. They got real angry at the bill pay. Definitely would not go back.
Joe Herbst
An amazing experience. The waiters rotate around so you get to meet the personality behind the voice. Their voices rock the house, as does the food
Paul Crossman
Wonderful history on its own without the Rocky connection.
Being sung to was wonderful.
Christine Witherspoon
Best of Philly a one of a kind!!!
The food the opera the whole evening
Was a fantastic!!
I can’t wait to go back and share this gem
With my friends.
The opera and the food Absolutely Bravo!!
Ada O
Great experience, great food and dessert. So mucho talent. Live singing was excellent.
Chef Charles
Great food my server was very nice and sweet singing was great just wish take video only thing I don't like for me the plates are huge to much food but that not a bad thing keep good job just a fun night thank you
MD
The opera singing wait staff was a unique and nice touch with a nice italian dinner. Food was great. You have to visit the lounge upstairs if you get a chance for an after dinner drink. And Yo, everyone knows Rocky Balboa was filmed there. The upstairs is where they keep all the memorabilia. Would i go the next time i visit Philly? Absolutely.
David Thomas
Our third time here but the first since the pandemic ended. I guess it's just the thing now that everyone is trying to recover from losses during the quarantine.
The prices have definitely gone up on every item but we were disappointed by what you get for the price you're paying for seafood. The seafood dishes barely have any seafood on them and are mostly pasta. However, the meat dishes were more than you can imagine and definitely worth the price. So if you're specifically looking for seafood dishes, I would recommend the meat dishes instead.
That said, you can never go wrong with the experience of this place. It's so unique and the artists are the best around. The singing and the atmosphere is worth every penny.
Rafael Batista
Love love love this spot. South Philly Italian gem. Great food, great service and no other place in town like this.
Dr. Steve Fleisher
We have been here many times before, brought friends and referred others and always had a great time. The food is excellent and the staff friendly and on the ball. We ate outside this time and the arias were performed from a second story window. It was a special evening. If you have never been before, it should be on your list. I highly recommned The Victor Cafe.
Chris Ray
Phenomenal food, great service, live (quality) opera performances. There's nothing negative about this place.
Justine venair
Staff was incredible, the food wasn’t that good in my opinion though I think it just wasn’t for me . The bread was super hard , Cesar salad wasn’t great ive had better for way less and my main dish just didn’t have any hard hitting flavor just tasted very bland. The menu is pretty pricey ! The singing was amazing, everyone is so talented however it got very annoying after a while and the loud ringing of the bell every second with announcements made me very anxious . No parking here as well had to drive around for 10 mins for an open spot but did score one right in front of the restaurant. There was no seating outdoors which was very disappointing because it was a beautiful scenery and I personally don’t like open seating but surprisingly I got comfortable really quickly , lots of people came up to our table to say we were a beautiful couple so that was comforting , no weird vibes . We did bring our own wine which we weren’t allowed to have which was fine just didn’t expect that . My overall experience I’d say this restaurant can feel overwhelming with so much going on but if you love that Italian vibe, live opera singing and food from real Italians that know the culture this is the spot for you ! If you just like simple & to eat your food in peace then this wouldn’t be it . Definitely worth trying at least once while in south Philly . Honest review
Mary Kowalski
What a marvelous place to celebrate a 10th birthday. We were serenaded from the Juliet balcony every 30 minutes. Our waitress was Joylynn and she was a delightful and talented professional at serving us and singing opera. We could not have asked for a better server. The food was of course outstanding.
Jeffrey Utain
Sorry for this delayed post. The restaurant was suggested to me from my siter who lives in Philadelphia and dined there prior to my dining visit. I made reservations with my long time friend over 45 years ago who was in town from Vegas where she lives. I live in Baltimore and drove up to have dinner with her. Well I would say the. The atmosphere, singing and dinner was fantastic. No rush for ordering and our server was very patient. I highly recommend Victor's Café and look forward to dining their again.
Harold Salters
A highlight of any visit to Philly for vocal music lovers. Wonderful food and drink and hearing the talented staff sing opera is just an amazing and unique experience. Walls filled with opera memorabilia.
Chris Conover
Singing servers and excellent food and atmosphere make Victor's Cafe a classic 👌
Rachel Childers
What a great experience. The atmosphere was great! All the wait staff are trained opera singers. There is an opera song every 20 minutes. Wow!
The food was a tad overpriced for what you get, but I think you are really paying for a show, so it's worth it. The food is delicious but not fantastic. They bring out fresh bread, but it's cold, for instance.

I must say that this restaurant was uniquely created, yet nothing that I've ever experienced. I took my lady there to propose to her, and she was flabbergasted by how amazing of an experience it was. Wonderful job Victor cafe. I recommend you with 10 stars.
Matthew Stein
It was ok, nice setting and singing but no service after the order was taken. Excepted more here.
Agranya Jampala
I went here solely because of this is the Adrian's Restaurant that Rocky Balboa owns in the movies. It's a great restaurant..perfect ambience and lovely opera singers who perform for you every 20 minutes!! Great service and a worthwhile visit.
Richard Notaro
Food is very good. My main course was excellent. Thre mussels red wasn't as spicy as I like; but that's a minor knock and if I could put 4 1/2 stars I would. And the singers are equal to the food. Very nice place and the best part was they never rushed us to eat and leave.
Alex Jiang
The food and service are excellent. Everything comes in very large portions and are fairly priced. Dishes came out quick and staff were very attentive. The music and talent is also unmatched.
ARUSHA ACHARYYA
Good ambiance, great opera, good food!
Particularly loved the desserts, creme Brule and tiramisu.
dpR
Amazing place! Great experience all around for a party of twelve. Even had a vegan entree as one of the specials. And the service and voices were top notch! Definitely coming back again. Now I know why this place has been in business for over 100 years!

OMG!!! This place is a must in Philly! The singing and the food is amazing!
Ashley Garner
We had an amazing experience here on a Saturday night! We picked the restaurant randomly based on what had open tables, so the trained opera singing waitstaff was an amazing surprise! Ordered: mussels in white sauce, prince Igor pasta, sweet potato tortellini, and a cappuccino. All so, so good! Service was a bit slow though—2.5 hours for dinner. We didn’t mind, the weather was great, but it’s something to be aware of.
Annette Hendrick
Been here several times. The rooms are cozy and feel as if you are dining at home. The servers were personal, attentive and they each sing from their favorite operas. The outside area is lovely with a an outdoor balcony. There are RCA tributes and old photos throughout the dining areas. Food was excellent! The only drawback is the opera music being a bit too loud - not the performers, just piped in.
Shelby Owusu-Dapaah
An amazing experience. I enjoyed the live singing, but would prefer it every 30mins vs 15. The calamari, sweet potato tortellini and pasta with shrimp/scallop was absolutely delicious. Tasty and well sized portions. I will certainly be back.
Peter Colbert
Go for the outstanding vocals and the warm, eclectic, throw-a-little-bit-of -everything at you decor. Enjoy classic South Philly Italian dining and a reasonably priced selection of wine.
Argenis Gonzalez
If your a big fan of the Rocky movies, them you will enjoy visiting this restaurant. You must make reservation because it can get very busy.
Victor Coppola
You have to come here when in Phili! Opera with your Italian meal. Brought my 6 year old here for his bday dinner celebration where wait staff sang Happy Birthday to us in Opera. Now all he wants to do is go back.
lacie melville
Amazing. Loved the singing and food was delicious!
Daniel Hobbs
This place was amazing! The staff was attentive and very friendly. The food was delicious and drinks were great. Also, the opera/singing was a delightful surprise and really made the experience special. If you can get a reservation this place is worth it!
Marvin Scott
Excellent food excellent atmosphere the singers were amazing

One of my favorite dining experiences in Philly. I love bringing visitors from out of town here. The food and music are great.
Jeroen Janssen
I am from holland.

Great ecperience for me as a Rocky fan..and i have get some extra to hear the wonderfull opera singers who is also the waiter.
Great thanks man!!!

Absolutely fabulous in every way! The food, the settings, the waiters and waitresses who are also professional opera singers! I'm just amazed and have told many people it's a must go spot!
WickedEye Filmz (Shane)
Phenomenal experience. Nice atmosphere. Food was good. However, they have a very very selective entree menu. Maybe 10 items on the menu. The food took extremely long to come out. & the portions were small considering the price!
Undecided on if I’ll return back. Would recommend for a 1 time stop for the experience!
Paul Erickson
If you are anywhere near Philadelphia you have to put this on your list of places to visit if you like exceptional food and/or live singing. The food is already exceptional, and every 10 minutes or so you are regaled by wonderful operatic singing by the wait staff. The location itself is full of charm, a living relic of a bygone time. My 2 year old became full of curiosity at the singing, and my 5 year old instantly recognized it despite two years between visits.
ed johnson
My wife and I went with another couple Friday night. It was awesome! The ambiance is great. The waiter we had was great and the staff sings beautifully every 20 minutes. I am not an opera guy but truly enjoyed the show and the meal. We will definitely return.
Meghan Weale
Pros: This place is like nothing I’ve seen before. Very nice concept with waiters doing opera performances every ~20 mins. Environment is welcoming and comfortable and I hope the wait staff are getting $$$$$. Nice date spot.
Cons: The (frozen) vegetable risotto was bland. I was really hoping to enjoy it but it was very disappointing. I had to order a side of red sauce to give it some flavor. My partner’s spaghetti dish was very good though. Need better veg options! Get some oregano up in there or something!
Cassandra Baez
Long review but we’ll worth the read. I called 3 weeks before Valentine’s Day for a reservation- the owner called back and exclaimed they were in fact booked but that he had some extra times and tables available. He then had us booked and called a day ahead to confirm. We came in today on Valentine’s Day and I had stated we had just gotten married. The host gave us the closest table to the opera singers and then came back with champagne ! (She did not have to do so) As we were already so pleased with how we were treated our server was amazing and dedicated her solo to us the newlyweds and as our dessert came out she put a candle on it and I quote said “we wish you all the happiness and love from us”. The dinner was impeccable and the service was extraordinary. We will always recommend and definitely come back for the amazing experience that they gave us unexpectedly.
Mike DeSalis
OMG THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME, it's not gonna be my last. We took Mom there for dinner the food is cooked to perfection from the appetizer to the desserts. I am born and raised in South Philly and never been to a restaurant of this caliber here. My biggest ♥was for the Opera entertainment that we got to hear an see the wait staff are magnificent in there performance. This restaurant deserves 5 stars.
Nothing less.....
Michael Minutillo
Awesome! Just incredible from the 1st martini to the end of dinner coffee and cannoli. The singing is insane. There is just nothing that can be said negative about this place.
Natalie Shaddock
Wonderful family owned Italian restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the vast array of vocal talent from the wait staff. Awesome food & amazing entertainment all in one place!
It's a must do place for every time we are back in Philly!
Rob Vargo
A true gem. The food is delicious and the entertainment and service is outstanding
stan a
Food is only ok, not bad. But singers are amazing !
Dimitris Mylonas
It hurts that I can't rate it higher. It's such a unique place and the opera singers are so good, but I wish they put some more attention to their plates. Last time we ordered four different pasta plates and they all looked more like a soup than pasta :/
Carlie Michaels
Amazing food & an extremely talented staff. We were blown away by the performances & can’t wait to come back!
Joe Hendrick
Can't really say enough about what a great experience this is in South Philly. Great menu backed up with great food, cocktails, wine, desserts, espresso. The added bonuses are that all of the wait staff are trained opera singers and every 20 minutes one of them sings. Outstanding voices. The other bonus is trivia as this restaurant was featured as Rocky's place in Rocky Balboa and the first Creed movie. If you choose to dine outdoors on Dickinson, there is a second story "balcony" where outside diners are also treated with song.
Yanic Bertrand
Im waiting 35 years to see and eard theses virtuos. Also the venue off Rocky promote the excellence of this Philadelphia prospects. Tanks to all of theses workers Who want to be part of the best orchestra !! Wonderfull food and cream of the next opera interpret !! Bravissimo!!!
Annette Greco
Dinner at the coolest spot tonight! Delicious Italian food. And the extra is that about every 15 minutes one of the wait staff sings opera. A really fun time! I had risotto with clams, mussel shrimp and scallops.
Alp Guner
We always have great experiences at the Victor Cafe. The food is awesome, the atmosphere is cozy yet elegant, the service is very attentive and professional, arias sang by very talented staff are mesmerizing. Dining there is a real treat to our five senses and our spirits.
Steve FRIEDMAN
VICTOR CAFE HAS A BEAUTIFUL OUT DOOR SEATING AREA. YOU CAN SEE THE OPERA SINGERS FROM THEIR OUTDOOR BALCONY.
THE FOOD AND SERVICE WAS VERY NICE.
THE ONLY THING I DID NOT LI K E WAS THE BUTTER SERVED WITH THEIR DINNER
ROLLS. BUTTER WAS SERVED IN A PLASTIC SEALED CONTAINER LIKE A SIMPLE DINER!
Joanna H.
To say this restaurant is unique is an understatement. I dined at The Victor Cafe as a guest for a birthday party. As i am out of town, I knew nothing of this restaurant. Immediately, I noticed the impressively attentive and friendly staff. The food was good, but nothing over the top amazing. However, I have no doubt that no matter how many times I went, I would find it consistently good. Then the surprise came when a waiter rang a bell. The woman next to me gave me a quick note as to what was happening. While I have been to the opera many times, I was still blown away by what happened next. Every single person who sang amazed me! I cannot wait to take my children to educate them into opera. What a great way to hear extremely talented people while enjoying dinner and conversation in between. Highly recommend The Victor Cafe for the experience, not just food.
Peggy Shafer
Restaurant itself is charming. Singing waiters and waitresses the best thing about the place. Food was disappointing. Paid $12 plus tip for valet parking supposedly in their own lot but came out of restaurant and there was my car squeezed into a space on the street.
Jack Didinger
Fantastic meal, Food, service, and singing with the staff. Wonderful date night. Nice valet service to help the busy side street parking.
Jaclyn Adams
This place was phenomenal - everything from the food to the staff to the performances. We tried the shrimp and scallops over linguine which was delicious. The buratta appetizer was also great. Wish we could bottles up the homemade pesto they serve with bread. We will definitely be returning!
Jack Marchetti
Love this place! Perfect atmosphere and the singing is very professional!
Robert Dimartino
Wow factor!!! A++ Bravo to the staff, singers and cooks
lbuch359
Excellent food, friendly staff, and great music. They even sang a special song for my wife's birthday. If you or someone you know loves amazing Italian cuisine and opera style music, I would highly recommend.
Nikolas Gkouvas
The best restaurant experience in the East coast. Professional singers of opera perform during lunch. Also the food was the best in Philly. Must go repeatedly.
Juan G Zuluaga
This is the one of the best restaurant I have visited, the atmosphere is spectacular, and the food delicious.
Definitely one of the best places in America
Naly Bounyalath
Had a comfortable dining room in a friends home atmosphere, the pictures were very quaint. Awesome Rocky memorabilia. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Had the salmon and my boyfriend had the steak. We were celebrating his birthday and they were very attentive and sang happy birthday to him. We are from Miami and it was our first time in Philly, this place was a must! Our server also sang Opera to the whole room and gave us the behind the story of the song she sung. Great service! Highly recommend this place!
Mark Belkowski
My wife and I love this place! The atmosphere is great, the singing is fantastic and the food is amazing! Great spot to take someone from out of town for Italian, or just go with some friends to share the experience. We generally order from the daily specials and have yet to be disappointed.
Such a unique idea with the culinary forte to back it up.
Christopher Rosado
Partner and I went for our anniversary and the entire staff made it a great night! As soon as we were sat the host congratulated us and gave champagne. The server had a amazing vibe and connected with us immediately. The food was great! I had the whole fish. Sever floor staff sang opera which was impressive. The entire night went amazing, better than planned.
Michael DeSimone
Food quality is great. My wife had the steak and it was huge. I had crabmeat ravioli with a cream sauce which was very delicate and brought out the flavor of the crab instead of hiding it. The outside dining was wonderful, the operatic arias sung live by the staff from a balcony was a kick. The valet parking was also quite reasonable. Our server was a delight (and sang a killer aria). This place is a treasure.
joe hoke
We celebrated our wedding anniversary, It was first time dining outside and was very nice. Always delicious and a great atmosphere, All the staff were very friendly and attentive they also followed COVID-19 precautions and as usual the bathrooms were very clean. Our server Marisa was great and she sang beautifully.!
Janet Craig
My second time here and it was just as delightful as the first time. Food is excellent, wait staff was attentive, service was quick but not rushed. However, the very best part of the whole experience is the Opera solos by the waiters and waitresses every 15-20 minutes. A truly wonderful evening. It's definitely worth the trip from my hometown in central CT.
Jessica Brouillette
Gorgeous space. Loved the arias the staff sung.
Ann Vernon
Wonderful experience! Opera singers were amazing. There were 5 of us. We were all very happy with our food and the service. Cannot wait to return.
Margaret Rychart
They do opera singing ( waiters and waitresses every 20 minutes.) This place was a resteraunt in one of the rocky movies. The upstairs bars are a way cool place to hang out.
Jillian Collins
Such a cool restaurant! Service was very good, mussels and beet salad were delicious. Terrific cocktails and super talented singers! Can’t wait to return on our next trip to Philly.
marilyn crowley
If you're looking for great Italian food, a good wine list, tasty cocktails, and excellent service, this is a good option for you. If you have any interest in opera but don't want to sit through a whole production or if you're just looking for a special experience, this is it THE place! The staff all have such lovely voices! We paid our bill then sipped on our final glasses of wine, drawing them out in the hopes of seeing one more performance. A great place for celebrations, dates, and time with family.
John Blumberg
The Victor Cafe has been one of my favorite restaurants. I've been worried that the pandemic, post-pandemic labor shortage would take a toll on this restaurant, but I am happy to report that the Chef's dishes, the service, and the singing were all superb! The menu is a bit shorter than years ago, but every item we had was very high quality. My wife and I went with another couple who had never been there before. Appetizers were mussels red, and mussels white (they were as good as they get--on a par with mussels we had on Prince Edward Island). One of our party had the roasted beet salad which featured two kinds of beets and got high marks. For entrees, we enjoyed Spaghetti Rusticana (be hungry if you order it), Lamb Chops (a special), the Pork Chop (which my wife rated as the best she had ever eaten), and Tosca with tender chicken on polenta made right, and a delicious but not heavy sauce. We accompanied the meal with a bottle of Asti Spumante, and finished with cannoli, and a cream and lemon sorbet in a lemon skin for which I've forgotten the name. Our sole criticism was that the Italian bread would have been better if warmed. With a 25% tip which we all felt was appropriate considering both the excellent service and the singing, the bill came out to about $75 per person. We all felt we were welcomed and had much enjoyment for our dining dollar at the Victor Cafe. I'm so glad it is still good as ever. The diners enthusiastically cheered and applauded the arias sung by the waitstaff. I think owners, the Chef, and the whole staff should be applauded, as well. The evening made us happy!
Michael Curran
The food was absolutely outstanding. I has the Spaghetti Rusticana which had a meatball, a sausage and a piece of Beef Braciole. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly. My wife had the NY Strip steak cooked exactly perfect for her. Medium rare. I had the warm chocolate cake for dessert and she had the Tiramisu. Besides a perfect meal were entertained with 5 arias from different operas. Truly a great evening.
Tanesha Pugh (Finding Out What Works)
I loved the experience. The food was great and so was the customer service. The Opera singing was the icing on the cake. I loved it. It was my husband's birthday celebration and he's been wanting to go to an opera so this was definitely a great introduction to it especially for myself. I highly recommend.
Matt Mcilvain
The food and atmosphere are excellent. The desert (got the tiramisu) is spot on.
Each waiter is a trained opera singer with fantastic service too. Highly recommend Victors since it has a long history too.
Erin Riley
This is a Philly ‘must’. It is worth the trip to south philly for all those visiting. Not only is the food incredible but all wait staff are trained opera singers and they sing a quick song every twenty minutes. I took my family here when they were visiting - it will go down in history as a legendary restaurant and be spoken about for years to come.
TomF016
The chicken piccata and bread were good. The pasta was not so good. The clams casino could also be a bit better. The singers are very talented.
Geisel N
What a wonderful dining experience! We sat right in the back by the beautiful Rocky picture and Iris was our amazing waitress. Totally surprised my 80 year old mother in law from
Ohio when they started to sing she cried. It was such a special night and the food was beyond delicious. If you have not tried this restaurant, go!
Jenna Martin
Came here last night for my 3rd anniversary. Our server was a young gentleman with glasses, very friendly and let us have a small dance on the floor for our anniversary. Very attentive. Lovely atmosphere and the opera singers were new, but very talented. The food was the best Italian food I’ve had. Definitely will be coming back for future events. Loved every moment of it. Definitely made our anniversary one to remember.
Collette Dougherty
My favorite restaurant now by far. It's a cozy little place that doesn't look like much from the outside. We visited on a Monday night and I'm glad we made a reservation. Parking was sparse, so I would leave some extra time prior to your reservation to find a spot to squeeze into along one of the side streets.
The food was fantastic. I enjoyed the Prince Igor and my mother loved the veal. Desserts were wonderful and they had an extensive wine selection. The singing was beautiful. The meal was a little pricey but worth every penny.
P D
Superb food and beautiful atmosphere....serenade with opera singers
C D
Opera awesome. Meals too salty for us. Pasta was sightly overcooked with the white clam sauce. Most of the clams appeared to be chopped and canned with a few whole clams in their shells on the dish. Those clams seemed rubbery. I know clams and pasta can go from perfect to over cooked so fast and easily. The bread basket was full of very cold bread. In a city of awesome bread this shouldn't happen.
I would try them again to see if it was a fluke with the food. But again if you go for the singing, you can't go wrong. Just wish the food matched!
Cynthia Voisine
Delicious food and excellent service. The opera singing was interesting. Definitely different. We couldn't decide how much we liked it. It was nice, but also interrupted conversation. It is a pretty noise restaurant because it is small with a lot of wood. All in all, though, it was a delicious, enjoyable dinner and we would definitely go back again if we find ourselves in Philadelphia.
Cecilia Collins
Delicious food, friendly staff and incomparable atmosphere. The service staff are all professional opera performers who intermittently treat guests to performances of pieces from operas. This entertainment is perfectly paced, with performances every 15-20 minutes or so, so that there is plenty of time for conversation, ordering and enjoying your meal between songs
Cristina Monastero
Excellent dining experience! Can’t wait to go back.
Luke Huba
It was a melodious experience that featured a historic atmosphere and unique Italian cuisine. Everyone on the main floor of the restaurant is a trained or training singer. While I was there, our waiter performed an English aria. Also, there were performances from the bartender, hostess and other waiters. Before they sing, they give a general intro to the opera they are singing from. The food was unique Italian. There were options for vegan and vegetarian diets. The food tasted like each recipe was unique. The portions were okay for the price, but, the food wasn't the main experience. Great spot, would visit again!
Alex Sneed Miller
Good Italian food. Not the quickest place to eat, but a nice place to go and enjoy. All of the waiters/waitresses are opera singers and every 20 minutes or so one of them performs a short piece. They also give you context about what they are singing which was interesting. Definitely a place to go at least once.
Amit G
This is not an eatery, it is an experience. The food is good, to be sure. But the highlight was the amazing Opera performances of all the staff. Such skills while also feeding customers and keeping them happy with the service. The service is a bit on the slower side but this is not a place for those in a hurry. The desserts are amazing as well.
Kimberly Adams
Totally unique and accidental experience! After trying to get seated in a very popular Italian restaurant after a Phillies game (and finding out that we definitely needed a reservation because the next available date was three days later!), some patrons who were on their way out, directed us to two other favorite spots not far from us. We called ahead and were told that seating was available. By pure chance, we discovered that we had stumbled into a place steeped in history!
Over a hundred years ago, a young Italian immigrated to America bringing with him little more than a great love for classical music and grand opera. John DiStefano settled in Philly in 1908 and in 1918 opened his first business: a gramophone shop. This place of business became a mecca for friends and neighbors who would come and enjoy an espresso and spumoni, all while listening to newly recorded operatic arias, symphonies and popular music of the day. DiStefano's Victor dealership became a meeting place not only for opera lovers, but also a hub for friendship.
DiStefano's efforts to establish a collaboration between artists and RCA's recording studio are well illustrated by the signed photographs and operatic memorabilia that covers the Café's walls. His collection includes thousands of the family's vast collection of 78 rpm recordings, treasures of another time.
In response to the repeal of Prohibition (1933), as well as to depressed economic times, DiStefano's purchased a beer and wine license and what had been DiStefano's Gramophone Shop morphed into what we now know as The Victor Café, "Music Lover's Rendezvous." John DiStepho turned to his sons in the latter years of his life, to continue the business. His son, Henry, eventually took over the family business. Upon Henry's death in 1986, operations remained in the hands of Henry's wife and children.
As years passed by, live performances of arias and instrumental solos, with the occasional soliloquy or poetry recital, were exclusively performed by patrons. In 1979, an opera student who was working at The Victor Café between singing engagements, performed an aria for his customers and another tradition was established. On a shelf where a staircase connects the two brownstones, which is home to the little café, there sits a bell. Every twenty minutes or so, the wait staff (waiters, waitresses, bartenders, hostesses and bus boys) take a moment between courses to ring the bell and announce an upcoming performance. The staff tells a brief story about the aria they are preparing to sing and for several minutes, the patrons all turn and listen in awe, as these professional singers (who moonlight at the restaurant) fill the café with arias of passion, love, heartbreak and despair, through their incredible operatic performances.
*Bonus: Upstairs is adorned with movie posters and pictures of the original Rocky movie because this wonderful cafe was also the spot of "Adrian's" (Rocky's wife) restaurant in the 2006 film 'Rocky Balboa', as well as in one of more recent franchises of the Rocky movies, entitled 'Creed'. If you are a Rocky fan, you cannot miss this spot!
I will confess, I am not a huge fan of opera, but this intimate setting and the amazing talent of these performers, is a musical event that anyone visiting Philadelphia needs to experience. Did I mention the food and wine is outstanding? From salads, to entrees, to wine menu and dessert, the evening could not have been more perfect! I could have sworn I heard a heavy Philly dialect, calling out, "Yo! Adrian!" I highly recommend this delightful and unique cafe!
Steve Heady
The food was wonderful, but the service was even better. Friendly and polite, and all the floor staff are professional opera singers. They perform every 15-20 mins with selections from different operas. I've never been an opera fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the talent of the singers/servers. I recommend it for the food and the experience.
L Marinucci
A fantastic experience for both the novice and experienced lover of opera. The ambiance was old world, as it should be. The service and singers were superb. The food brought me back to my childhood growing up on a very large Italian family from Abruzzo and my grandfather was a chef. I loved it an I will be back.
Morgan FitzPatrick Andrews
In a perfect world, every artist working as a server in a restaurant would get to perform their art. The Victor Café has given us a glimpse of that perfect world, and it includes sorbet served in the shell of a lemon.
lealyn lewis
Most romantic restaurant I've ever been to! Food was delicious! Not vegan friendly menu but they will adjustments
Sue Brosious
I have been to Victor's Cafe several times. I enjoy the atmosphere and the opera. This past Sunday I was there with my partner, his daughter and her boyfriend. I was very disappointed in the server. I was asked to pick the wine, so I did. When the server returned to the table she presented the tasting to my partner. When she took the orders for the table she forgot to write down my salad and had to come back and ask me for my selection. When the server poured the wine it splashed up into my eye, no acknowledgement or apology. One of the guests at the table dropped the dip for the bread on their shirt and I was telling them how to get the stain out when the server interrupted with their own solution that was "better". The food, wine and opera were amazing - the server not so much.
Kevin Sickle
My favorite restaurant in Philly and my favorite Italian spot anywhere.
Deana Radatti
A fantastic evening! The food was delicious and the service was top notch! What a delight to hear live opera! The second floor lounge is quaint and comfy with a friendly bartender. The Rocky memorabilia adds to the entire experience. Valet parking on the weekends is a nice touch. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there last night. We had a perfect evening!
Clarke Moyer
Very fun and unique dinner spot. Took the family here for a major birthday. Treated our table very well and sang Happy birthday in opera voices to our guest of honor. The food was great as well. Pricey but you get the quality that comes from it. I recommend that you visit for a special occasion.
Gene Ashe
Every 20 minutes at this cozy cafe, the waiters stop what they are doing and sing opera. Who knew they still have opera? But most are really good, and I think Billy Joel started out waiting tables so you might catch some new talent. The food was great. My wife had the garden risotto, which tasted very fresh. The cannellini was excellent. The tiramisu for dessert was also excellent. If anyone in the restaurant has a birthday (or tell them it's yours) you'll get a serenade. An enjoyable evening.
Megan Webb
This place was so fun! Great food and wonderful entertainment by the wait staff. The upstairs bar area was beautiful with very comfy seating. The food was very good too! The staff performs ~every 20 min, so you'll get to see 3-4 performances.
Gregory Benjamin
This past weekend was the first time I went to The Victor Café! What a great experience, from start to finish. My friends and I had reservations (I highly recommend getting them!), but arrived about 25 minutes early. The hostess was incredibly nice and suggested we go upstairs for a cocktail or drink. The upstairs is a beautiful lounge-like area, with vintage victrolas, candelabras, interesting artwork, and nicely kept furniture. The bartender was also very pleasant and offered suggestions for drinks. After about 35 mins, we went downstairs and were seated for dinner. All of the food was delicious; authentic Italian bread that tasted like it was baked the morning of. Of course the most special part of this fine dining establishment is the waitresses and waiters who are also opera singers. Their voices were beautiful, rich and layered! Our waitress, Aubrey was fantastic, and took care of all of our needs. We also got a chance to hear her sing a lovely, short song. I was blown away by the quality of the voices and found out that many of the wait-staff go on to do operas and performances across the US and internationally, including Paris! If you’re looking for a fun, entertaining night—something different than the the standard fare of Center City, I highly recommend giving The Victor Café a try! You won’t be disappointed! Lastly, build in a bit of extra time before your reservation, so that you can check out the upstairs lounge—it’s really worth the experience of having a great cocktail, taking in the local color and socializing with friends!
Nicole Scott
Amazing food, service and singing!!!!
Jasna Cvetanovic
Rare opportunity to be greatly entertained by trained opera singers while you eat your meal. All the waiters are trained opera singers and every 20min someone sings. It is wonderful and so different and the atmosphere is like nowhere else. A gem!
Tayler Engel
Amazing experience, I didn’t fully know what I was getting into, so it was cool to see all the servers singing opera every 15 mins or so. The servers are not only provide great table service, but they are exceptional singers as well. The food was perfect with great proportions and flavor. Can’t wait to go back.
Ken M
Great fun and good food. Staff is very personable. Nice for birthday dinners. Valet parking for $12 is your best bet when arriving by car. Long wine list but only bottled beers. No craft drafts. Wonderful opera experience.
peter j naurath jr

We visited restaurant for the first time last night. We loved it. It felt like I was home. Such a cozy beautiful atmosphere, voices of all the performers are amazing. Food is great . Special thank you to the chef! Definitely will be coming back !
James Murphy
This is a wonderful place! The food was excellent. The atmosphere is very cozy and comfortable. The singing staff were very good and topped off a great time. I, and my extended family, highly recommend giving this place a try.
Ginny Beddoeh
We there on a recommendation. The atmosphere was old world Italian which was great. The waiters and waitresses take turns singing opera. First they explain the piece and then open their mouths and impress the crowd with beautiful singing. Great experience
albert
The singing every 10-15 minutes is very good (as all the waitstaff are classically trained opera singers), but may be slightly annoying if you're trying to have a dinner with conversation.
The food is very tasty, and there's a great selection of drinks.
Behrad Bagheri
Prepare yourself for hearing very nice voice of their staff singing opera pieces for you every few minutes.
The food was good and the overall interior was very comfy and cozy.
Please do not make singing staff uncomfortable by recording video. They might ask you to stop doing it.
Nathalia
Delicious food, generous portions and Heather, our waitress/great opera singer was very nice and attentive throughout our meal! Victor’s creates a unique dinning experience, where the waiters are also professional opera singers who perform throughout their service. The entire experience was memorable and worth a visit if you’re in Philadelphia.
Robert Weneck
Bravo! I've been wanting to go to the VC for years. Finally, I was able to make it with my friend as we celebrated her birthday. Friendly staff, great food, and beautiful voices all made for an amazing evening. Even the gentlemen helping with valet were friendly and helpful. The highlight of the evening was watching my friend's face light up as the first singer performed. I didn't tell her about their performances and she was delightfully surprised. Of course, the staff sang to her an amazing rendition of "happy birthday" later in the evening. She smiled from ear to ear - priceless! Great job VC...we'll be back!
Heather Obara
The bar upstairs was a great place to wait and have a drink before the rest of our party arrived. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. The opera singing makes for a unique and fun atmosphere.
ricktrommer
The food was authentic old school Italian. We had the veal saltimbocca and salmon with penne in a rose sauce, and started with a nice beet salad. But the show is what really sets this place apart. The staff all sang a piece from a classic opera or theater production. We heard something from Madame Butterfly, Les Miserables, a Russian opera and an Italian aria (by our waiter). A lot of fun and perhaps best experienced in a group. Located in a south Philadelphia neighborhood, we grabbed a Lyft from center city and were there in ten minutes on a weeknight.
TMH
A Philly gem. Excellent food accompanied by servers who sing their hearts out. A must if in Philly
Cardarelli Louis
Always a great meal. They will customize it to whatever you wish. Very helpful and pleasant servers. Beautiful singing and a good mixed drink. Been there 5 times, can't wait for the sixth.
Rafaela Paranhos
Fantastic athmosfere, great service and food... but the Opera was by far the iconic selling point! We heard pretty much all waitresses sing a piece! This restaurant is not just an eating spot but an experience you must have!
Patrick Diehl
Had a wonderful experience at Victor's Cafe. The singing was amazing and the food was delicious. Will definartely eat there again. Highly recommended
Ashley Khuu
The restaurant was wonderful. We got the booth and the singers were singing by the stairwell next to the bar due to covid. Food was delicious and valet was $12. Can't beat it!
Paul Costalas
You have to go here. The food is very good and the waitstaff SING opera. I am an uncouth barbarian and I know they sang well.
The food is excellent. Leave room for dessert. Definitely a special place to visit.
Vivien Kretz
Absolutely amazing place! Everyone was so nice and the staff showed me all the Rocky pictures and items they still had since the restaurant is Adrian’s in the movie series. Everything still looks so much like in the movies, even the chairs and tables are the same.
Not to mention the incredible opera singing!
Elisabeth Yankelitis
Wonderful experience as always! The Prince Igor was my favorite entree I've had thus far. Due to Covid they couldn't sing Happy Birthday, but my husband requested a beautiful rendition of "Think of Me" from Phantom of the Opera. Tres magnifique!
Michael Kalinsky
Love this place. The food is good but the ambiance is what makes this restaurant one of a kind. During our most recent trip there I had chills from the beauty of the voices of two of the singers during their arias. I would give 5 stars but management needs to do a better job of explaining to patrons that they can hold off on talking for the 5 minutes someone is performing.
Apas Eleven
The food was sub par for the price that I paid, maybe my palate has been spoiled by other places... regardless, the experience itself is what gives this place an extra star for me.. while at the same time deducting some. The singing was interesting for sure, though it was hard to keep a conversation while a server was performing.
Also, the decor/atmosphere seemed a tad bit tacky. It could have been executed better.
Had the food been better, maybe I wouldn't have focused so much on the rest.
Also.. don't get the cheese plate.
Lousy Hacker (lousydao)
You go to a restaurant like this for the experience. You expect the music to be good for a restaurant and the food to be good for a performance. You're wrong on both counts.
I've been here twice now. Once, I went for the spectacle, the second because I was surprised the first time and assumed it was a fluke.
Both times, my food was excellent (New York strip and lamb, respectively), and both times the music was so good I kept forgetting to eat.
It's hard to sum up a place like Victor's, but if pressed I'd say that Victor's is exactly what you expect it to be, but better in every way.
molly devlin
Can't wait to go back. Great food, excellent service, beautiful singing. I would go there once a week if I lived in Philly. Love this place. It is awesome!!!!
Matt Martin
Thomas was a great waiter. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was incredible. We brought a 14 year old and 4 year old whom had never experienced opera. Left there trying to sing opera. Memories were made tonight. Highly recommend.
Rosalie Fittery
From start to finish, this is in my top three of dining experiences!!! The food was amazing. The singing was spectacular and the seating was super cozy!!! I can’t wait to go back!!! I dined with four others and no one was disappointed with their meal! Service was quick our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu items and gave suggestions! Do not leave without trying the tiramisu !!!
Emily Faber
Best pasta I've ever had!! And my husband licked his plate clean as well! The wine by the bottle is very reasonably priced compared to most places so we were able to "splurge" a bit. We didn't go for a special occasion but they were fantastic to those who did (or didn't). The singing was AMAZING. Even for a couple like us who aren't into Opera at all. Great experience and highly recommend it if your in Philly!
Norman Weiner
Truly unique charmer in South Philly. Outstanding Italian fare, reasonably priced, with atmosphere dripping throughout. Add professional opera singers who are the wait staff, and every 20 minutes you get a performance of classical opera.
It's the setting for Adrian's favorite restaurant in the Rocky series, and Creed 2 recently filmed there.
Heading back this weekend to celebrate a special occasion.
Bo Sommer
The entire purpose, besides the decor and superb food, is the fantastic opera singers! Don't go here if you don't want your conversations to be interrupted. The waitstaff sings opera pieces during dinner. This is not "cheese", they are professionals and sound wonderful. This is a special experience. Enjoy the ambiance, the food and the entertainment. The entertainment is tastefullly done. Wonderful experience. Also, check out the upstairs, sit back and have an after dinner cocktail on the 2nd floor.
Victor Burgdoerfer
Amazing food and entertainment for EVERYONE!!!!! I highly recommend this restaurant!!!!!!
Robert Oliver
Always love The Victor Cafe! Great food and even if you are NOT an opera fan, I guarantee you will enjoy the waiters and waitresses singing opera. And if you have a birthday, it's the only place to have the waiterstaff sing to you. Nice, authentic, local, historic. And seen in Rocky.
Ron Deluca
An Institution in the neighborhood and the city.Has been in operation since 1933. Cozy Italian restaurant. Seats around 25 to 30.Exquisite Italian food and Atmosphere. Checkered table cloths and singing waiters.I would recommend a Reservation. Subway or bus is 1 block away.Parking is tight in the neighborhood. I suggest valet parking.
Prices are not out of line.$40--$50 per person on average. Wines,Beer and Spirits available .Certainly Worth the Experience!
Thomas Kaplan
Delicious food, reasonably priced for being upscale, but the highlight is obviously the opera. Nothing like seeing your seemingly meek waiter belt out an Aria and then go back to serving food. Went here for Valentines dinner and it was fantastic, but I really doubt there's a bad time to go. Definitely a must visit for anyone from out of town that wants to go home with an experience they can talk about.
Daniel Scheetz
A unique dining experience, food was excellent, the staff is VERY Entertaining and friendly. From the beginning, the Valet was very nice and professional to the Victorian decor, the upstairs bar where you wait to be seated, all are a different wonderful night out.
Chris Hall
We were traveling in Philadelphia for business and rented an Airbnb. We needed a dinner place and the Victor Cafe had good reviews so we tried it out. To our surprise, all of the wait staff are opera singers and every 20 minutes one of them sings an Aria or other short piece, very enjoyable. I ordered the saltimbocca and it was fantastic. I also had the prosciutto, cheese and pear salad, again very generous with fresh greens. The other members of our group also thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Definitely worth a visit.
G. Gut
Honestly, I was worried that the focus on the performances would reduce the quality of the food. Pleasantly surprised with both. I had a fish dish and shared shared with my family who had assorted chicken and pasta dishes. No complaints there. Our server, Thomas, was polite helpful and had a great voice. Hope to go again.
Herbert Sheppard
Great food & the music is fantastic.
Danny Mann
Amazing opera performances while you eat deliciously authentic Italian cuisine. Everyone who performed was jaw dropping. They have a strict no recording policy so you'll need to go experience it for yourself. All wait staff are trained opera performers.
Brandon Hickey
Amazing food at reasonable prices for the quality. OUTSTANDING bar program with the largest apertif menu I've ever seen. All the wait staff are trained opera singers, so you'll get a show as well.
brian
It's not just a meal, it's an experience. Arrive 30 min early and have a relaxing drink upstairs at the small, quaint lounge. The hostess will come upstairs and seek you out when your table is ready. Dine downstairs and enjoy extremely competent waiters and waitresses that every 20 minutes or so break out in song (operatic aria, classical, and perhaps show tunes). It's really quite a fun night. We learned tonight that Victor Cafe is apparently popular for folks celebrating birthdays. You'll hear Happy Birthday sung like nothing you've ever experienced. But after the 5th time in 90 minutes it gets a bit old. You have to just laugh, applaud, and go with it. It's part of the experience! As critical to their success as the talented employees, the food is delicious. My wife's fresh market fish and my frutti di mar were the best we've had in a long time. We'll be back soon!
Ted Raizen
We were here for my birthday with our best friends. The singing was great, and so was our meal. But the best thing for me was when all the wait staff came to our table and sang an incredible version of Happy Birthday! Wow!
Melvin Goldberg
The most glorious operatic voices entertain you while enjoying beautifully prepared and served foods. The ambiance and history of the restaurant adds to the enjoyment of dining. Valet parking is offered if the streets are to full of cars. We have loved the joyful experience of the food and music for at least 30 years
Jared Rice
Staff was extremely nice. Not sure opera-singing waitstaff is the best theme for a restaurant, though, as every time a performer was singing we had to interrupt our meal conversations to listen. In a bigger venue it might not have been too much of an issue, but this place is rather cozy so even a whisper would carry (and was frowned upon). The food was ok, definitely better than any chain family restaurant I can think of, but won't win any contests against other South Philly authentic Italian restaurants.
Tim Sweetz
Absolute must when in Philly... phenomenal food, amazing service and spectacular entertainment!
roseanne larosa
I had read a review before I went to victor cafe saying donot go for the food. They were correct. Food is horrible. Stuff you can make yourself.
I also did not know that the wait staff were also the singers so if there busy they will sing less.
But when a waiter or waitress did sing it was so powerful it bought tears to my eyes. Im not a big opera fan but that totally changed when I heard these young people individually sing. The strength and control that it takes you can really appreciate live 5 feet away from you.
The whole staff and upstairs bartender very sofisticared and proffessional. You are made to feel special.
I wish food was better. 4 very small drinks upstairs was 50.00 plus tip amd that was before you even sat down.
2 small just ok simple pasta dishes 2 drinks 2 desert drinks all came to 147.00 before tip. No sides with the small pasta serving such as a green or something else. Just struck me as very plain one dish of ok pasta. Menu doesnt offer much more.
So yes go for the opera singers. Eat before u go and dont by more than 2 drinks at 13.00 a pop.
Robin
Food was great!
Calamari and the special Crab Ravioli. The entertainment was a delight! Highly recommend.
Jen Carleton
Great experience! All the servers were amazing with their performances. The meal was delicious, all 5 of us enjoyed everything..will absolutely be back!
Kelsey Black
This place is fantastic! Every time I have relatives visit we always come here. The staff is incredible, both with service and entertainment. Food is moderately priced for the atmosphere. The speakeasy upstairs is absolutely stunning and charming in it's own unique way.
Brett Skipper
How can you pass up a classic Italian Restaurant that also has live Opera Performances.
David Ostrow
Victor cafe, fine Italian. Beautifully sung opera. Truly a fantastic experience. We had appetizer, drinks, dinner and dessert for about a hundred bucks. I'd be satisfied w $200 for dinner.
Excellent value, excellent food, excellent music. Thank you for a wonderful evening Victor cafe
Alessandro Moses
Totally unique and accidental experience! After trying to get seated in a very popular Italian restaurant after a Phillies game (and finding out that we definitely needed a reservation because the next available date was three days later!), some patrons who were on their way out, directed us to two other favorite spots not far from us. We called ahead and were told that seating was available. By pure chance, we discovered that we had stumbled into a place steeped in history!
Tammy Gallagher
We had a lovely time. The bar is located upstairs and was very comfortable. The food was awesome. The highlight of the evening was the singing staff who are all so talented.
Francesco Elia Marino
Amazing place, great idea, not seen anything like this in anyplace I have ever visited. Beautiful atmosphere and friendly and talented staff. Thank you guys!
Ronald Sutton
Very nice meal. My wife's whole fish served the way she likes was the highlight. The wait staff who are also classical singers provide a special evening.
Joe Davis (Chilly)
Who likes opera? Get blown away by the amazing voices serving outstanding Italian dishes. One of my favorite places to take out of towners.
You don't need a reservation but I recommend you do.
John Sweeny
Good food. Efficient and talented wait staff. All classically trained singers who would take turns singing pieces from operas every 20 minutes or so. Hijeong (sp?) especially good. Finally, charming venue; mediocore wine
George Hutchinson IV
Food is always delicious. It is always a nice treat to be serenaded by professional opera singers as you enjoy your ladies company! Cheers
Whitney Golden
I had so much fun here! I arrived earlier than the rest of my party, and was directed to a lovely upstairs lounge where I could get a drink and wait. It was so nice to have somewhere that everyone as we arrived could wait as our table was readied, instead of having to crowd awkwardly in the front t entrance. Then the meal itself - the food was so good - a perfect blend of home style Italian with a little something extra. And the singing - I couldn't get enough! I wish it was every five minutes instead of fifteen. Their voices were beautiful! I can't believe it took 14 years in Philly to get here, I will definitely be returning!
Mary Nguyen
Dinner + entertainment = AMAZING
Been here twice already and I am definitely returning. The atmosphere is traditional and warm.
The severs are so great. Very attentive and professional. As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted with a big smile. Janellie (sorry if I spelled her name wrong) was very friendly and she made sure we got to hear her sing. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and able to answer all the questions we asked.
Food is delicious. Classic Italian food that taste great. I got the mussel twice already and the seafood taste fresh. Portion size are larger then I wanted but the leftover are great for the next day. The Panna cotta is to die for. Very rich and smooth.
Ann McCormick
It s a beautiful experience with good food and entertainment.
A H
So I can rant and rave about food. No seriously, their food and drinks and portions are amazing. But the atmosphere you can't buy for all the gold in Fort Knox. The history of recorded music and prior can seen and experienced there. One particular member of the staff, Hajeong, had myself applauding and the neighboring table clapping and yelling "Bravo! ". The roar of accolades in itself was intense. There are truly no words I can type to convey to any reader the full experience. Maybe "if you want to go out to eat, to the opera, and a museum, and you want a balanced version of all 3. But that still does no justice.
Kenneth Rose
What a pleasant surprise and experience. I had no idea we were going to hear amazing voices sing throughout our visit. The food and atmosphere are both awesome.
Camilla Sutter
Amazing food and opera that gives you goosebumps. We had a delicious meal from start to finish. And every 15 minutes the bell rings and we had a gift of a song or aria. Moved me to tears!
Eric Lee
One of the best Italian restaurants in Philadelphia hands down. It is a great place to take your family or friends. Not only do they serve delicious Italian food, but the waiters and waitresses sing opera from time to time. Definitely a MUST GO.
bambam bino
We were very pleased with Victors! Our first time last night and it definitely lived up to the hype! Great staff and a beautiful atmosphere!
Balaram Krishna Hanumanthu
Great ambience. Great hummus and starters and drinks. Highly recommend
Vincent Paul Mowad
An amazing experience, the waiters sing every 15 or 20 mins. Beautiful voices and a place for people who love opera and plays. The food was delicious, will be back for sure.
Cam Bull Run
Exceptional opera singers serenade while you enjoy delicious Italian cuisine. Highly recommend.
jan achenbach
We always enjoy the Victor Cafe. The food is excellent. Be sure to arrive early so you can enjoy the upstairs lounge. The spontaneous operatic performances by the waitstaff is wonderful. Great place to bring family and friends.
Renee Ethier
The experience at The Victor Cafe was exceptional. The food was amazing and the opera-singing waitstaff were fabulous. We arrived early and got drinks in the upstairs lounge, which is a really neat space. This is a must-do when in Philly.
Jody Lurie
Fantastic experience. Staff is made of gifted opera singers who break out in song occasionally. Such an amazing place. Food was delicious.
Lucy Saraci
One of the best Italian restaurants in Philadelphia. The food is excellent and the staff are opera singers!! This place is definitely authentic South Philadelphia Italian. We love it so much we come here at least once a month.
Brittany Clifford
Had a wonderful time. Every 15 minutes, there would be a professional opera singer come up, and sing to the whole restaurant. I recommend coming on your birthday, as they will sing you a special song!😃 …
L Vana
Delicious, entertaining but not cheap.
Every server is also a trained singer
Alexander Seifer
Came here for the history of Rocky and because of the good ratings about their food. Exceeded all expectation...you'll be surprised when you come here!
Ali Ryan
This restaurant is absolutely amazing. From the food to the classically trained waiters! It is perfect for a date night or a dinner with friends. It is reasonably priced for a dinner and show! If you’re thinking about going do youreself a favor and just go!
M Straka
I lived in US many, many years, traveled a lot and now I live in Prague, which has probably more restaurants than any place in the world. If I have to recommend only one restaurant that truly stands out in my mind, it will be the Victor Cafe. It is not for the food, which was always great, and we all know that you can go to a top notch restaurant and the food may not be to your liking, and it is not for the opulence which there is none, but it is for the whole experience of history that fills the walls around you with countless photographs of great conductors, singers and personalities.
In addition, it was the original owner of the Victor Caff that discovered the great American singer Mario Lanza. The singing of the waiters and waitresses is on a professional level and on par with any opera production anywhere in the world and I have seen dozens. This restaurant will nourish far more than your body, so when you are done recalling all the great and expensive restaurants that you have visited in your lifetime, at least in my mind, this one always comes up as the winner.
randall pogue
I can't say enough good things about this place! The food was great, and the singers were amazing! Tonight was my first visit and it was unexpectedly awesome. Two thumbs way up!
jessica levine

M Jureckson
WOW! Friends brought us to the restaurant where they got engaged in a quiet Italian neighborhood. The delicious Italian food and the talented singing waiters and waitresses made for a memorable evening. Can't wait to go back!
Tami Micklin
Very neat place to dine and hear waitress sing Opera songs. We celebrated 94 years birthday to my mother in law. Pictures were not aloud.
Donnie M.
Rick & his crew are top notch. Did you know some scenes from the Rocky movie were filmed here. It was converted into Adrian's (Rockys wife) Tell em' the friendly Vineland Syrup driver sent you
Julie Heydeman
My partner surprised me with a reservation here. Loved it! The food was delicious and the singers were amazing!
Donald Berger
Victor Cafe is supurb. The food is delicious. The staff are great and they are great Opera Singers. My wife and I met and had diner at Victor Cafe 50 year years ago. We celebrated having dinner tonight to celebrate our first date at Victor Cafe 50 years ago.
Jim McMonagle
We had a great dinner! I wish we could have stayed longer. The music was fantastic! Our server, Kaitlin (not sure of spelling) was so nice for our child with a food allergy. I hope to come back soon.
Theodore Cheek (The Avant Bard)
The food was somewhat pricey, but the taste and care with which it was made and handled certainly made up for it. Moreover the singers were exemplary across the board.
Considering that the staff of Victor's Cafe managed to convey quality and an air of welcome despite a high volume of guests, this establishment as a whole deserves nothing less than full marks.
Thomas Duch
The staff is made up of professional opera singers who sing about every 20 minutes. Best version of happy birthday ever. Can't forget about the great Italian food either.
Haley Derlinga
The ratings and reviews are well earned. Delicous and generously portioned italian food served by friendly and attentive waitstaff who also happen to perform opera. Similar to places like Ella's Stardust Cafe in NYC, but there is more reverence for the performances here, and the food is better. A hand bell is rung and guests are quited prior to each performance, and conversation resumes after brief applause following the song. As far as food, would sincerely reccomend the garlic white wine mussels and the risotto.
Frances Dunn
Amazing experience to hear real opera by profession opera singers in such a great Italian setting. I'm not a fan of opera but fully enjoyed it. Wonderful experience and the food was good too.
Jeff Waxman
The Victor Cafe is one of those restaurants you can legitimately call an experience--the wait staff are talented and lovely and I can't wait to come back with friends.
Luis Orrego
Delicious food and excellent service!

Megan Oehlke
Delightful place to celebrate with good food and live opera or musical selection music every 15 minutes. A spectacle not to be missed. Pricey but worth it. Save room for fantastic desserts.
Scott Hercher
Terrific experience. My dinner was very good, my wife's less so. But the performances were terrific and it is a unique place to go. Highly recommended.
Gone2fish
Absolutely fantastic! I am not much for opera style musicals but the food and the singing was something that I would not have wanted to miss. This place is a must!
Jean-Paul Hernandez
We came for the nostalgic feeling of knowing that "Rocky Balboa" was filmed here; this restaurant stands in as "Adrian's" in the movie. HOWEVER - if you're looking for a great cozy and romantic place to take the one you love, highly recommended! You'll literally get a dinner and a show; operatic arias will grace your experience every so often. It's fitting actually - this place started as a music cafe for buddling artists over a 100 years ago.
Fernando Javier Menendez
The best Italian restaurant I've been to since we moved to Philly. The food is excellent, the servers and bar tenders sing opera and they do it every half hour. EXCELLENT! Must go place.

My boyfriend and I was arguing the whole day until he took me here for dinner! I have forgotten everything we argued about because this place is amazing. Definitely will be coming back. I honestly didn't even know this place existed because it's really old. I'm sure you'll love it just as much as I would.
Chris Lahiri
We came here because my son loves Rocky, but as a classical music fan myself this ended up being much, much more. Experience of a lifetime.
Akeem Prosser
Food was fantastic and the entertainment was second to none. If you enjoy Italian style cuisine and want to have a different kind of night out, this place is a must. Such a wonderful experience!

We have driven form Annapolis to Philadelphia just for dinner, but now our favorite transport method is the Amtrak. We always enjoy the singing and have never been disappointed in our many visits over 20 years! Call us happy and faithful!

JoAnn Kelly
I had such a wonderful night. I am celiac and the chef made my Veal Saltimbucca gluten free. It was delicious! A different experience. The service was excellent!
Susie Elizabeth
I enjoyed everything except the chairs.. I couldn't fully enjoy my experience because it felt like I was sitting on a block of wood. Barely any cushon on there at all. By the time I stood up my entire backside was numb. You definitely need to upgrade the seating.
Mike Schubert
Had the clams and linguine which was spot on. My wife had the chicken picatta which was also good. The random outbursts of opera music are a pleasant and refreshing difference from other Italian restaurants.
Chris OShea
Food was excellent and our server was attentive. Great little café and the performances by the staff were entertaining.
