This is just good, solid, unpretentious Diner food. I have only been here for breakfast, but they also serve lunch. Everyone that works here has always been super friendly and the waitstaff is great. I have never had any issues with the food. It has always been prepared just as I ordered it. They're also in the PinPoint rewards program.

With so many delicious choices of comfort food waiting for you it is always a worthwhile wait! Coffee and drinks are served promptly upon sitting down. Orders come out quickly. We had hot and fluffy blueberry pancakes, tender chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans, moist sausage patties with eggs that were made-to-order, german hashbrown potatoes with scallions. Friendly servers, happy patrons.

Another excellent breakfast/brunch place in the area. The service here is excellent and the staff are very friendly. Very unfussy and simple interior. The food here is very excellent and they have a wide menu to choose from. The skillet casseroles here are some of the best around.

Love LOVE LOVE Vidlaks! Everything is cooked to perfection the way you order it. You don't have to wait too long for your food, it's the best tasting breakfast/brunch/lunch around Omaha! The staff is always to friendly & attentive! We love it so much that my dad & I go there several times a week!

This trip I had loaded hashbrowns and eggs, both were delicious and their coffee and cappuccinos are AmAzINg!! But my favorite thing on the menu is cinnamon French toast they are so warm gooey and the perfect sweet breakfast. They are famous for their potato pancakes which are also very yummy. Service is always good and friendly. Atmosphere is laid back and relaxed. They really make you feel at home and part of the family.

Always great food and service. No pics unfortunately. My fav is the Eggstacy but with a side of bacon as I don't eat shredded hash browns. I'd they had grits, they'd be absolutely perfect. Pancakes are great, and the breakfast chicken fried steak is really good too.

Went there with my mother for the first time and it was spectacular. The interior is a very basic white which is pleasing to the eyes with some red chairs to add a bit of color. Very short wait for a table, though it took a bit to get drinks though other than that no gripes. I ordered the chicken fried steak with hashbrowns and some toast and my mother ordered an eggs Benedict. My God, one of the best chicken fried steaks I've had is in this place. The steak was tender and flavorful and the addition of gravy is just the icing on the cake. The hashbrowns were crispy and not overpowering in flavor with a nice consistency to them. The toast I received was awesome, the butter melted into the toast making a nice burst of buttery goodness when bit into. My mother's eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly, hashbrowns cooked perfectly, and overall taste was good. Would recommend 100%, but getting in and out is a pain.

I heard about this cafe from an Omaha Food Lovers FB group and bookmarked it. My husband and I were in the area a few days ago and decided to try it for brunch. We arrived around 10 and were worried about seating due to the parking lot being rather full. We walked right in and were seated immediately. The cafe is large with a huge seating area which helps when spacing guests. Our server was super friendly and recommended an omelette for me. My husband enjoyed his steak and eggs, and I loved my Denver omelette. When we were checking out the hostess recommended me downloading an app (Pinpoint) to save on our next visit along with other stores/restaurants in the surrounding area. She also recommended their cinnamon rolls so I’ll definitely be back to try one.

Update: everything is still just as great as always! This time I tried the Eggstacy minus the bacon and it was pretty amazing. Eggs, cheese, lettuce tomato and mayo on marbled rye toast. Always excellent service and amazing comfort food! We eat here every chance we get. I highly recommend the Garden Egg and Potato Casserole or the Chicken Philly Sandwich (add jalapenos)! The Cinnamon French Toast is like heaven on Earth with a hot cup of black coffee! To make it even better, they accept the Pinpoint app to earn free food. 😁

I have eaten here for many many years, usually once a week, but it’s been a while since my last visit. Today was the day that I decided to meet a friend there for breakfast. I’m happy to say that nothing has changed. It’s still the same great food and staff. The place was packed today as it usually is at 09:00 on any day. Angie was our server and of course remembered both of us, though it’s been over a year. She quickly took our order and had coffee and water to us right away. Side note; one of the great things here, is you can make any item on the menu custom to your liking. I love that about this place and the best part is, it’s consistently high quality and you get what you order. Always delicious and perfectly cooked. So today I ordered the corned beef hash. Now I like mine crispy, which it was as ordered. I requested 3 eggs, lightly basted on top. They were perfectly cooked as you can see in the picture. I chose rye toast for my side, that was perfectly buttered and I added strawberry jam. Delicious! I also ordered a side of hash browns with sausage gravy on top. Again, delicious. Of course they are excellent at keeping your coffee cup filled and checking to see if you need anything. All was as it should be,perfect! There was even a group of 10 guy’s from Iowa ahead of us that were headed to the Nebraska vs Iowa football game in Lincoln. I heard someone ask them how they got to Vidlaks and one said they Googled best breakfast places in Omaha and Vidlaks came up. I welcomed them and told them they would not be disappointed. If you have never dined here before, put it on your list. You too will not be disappointed. Oh, they also do lunch, but no dinner.

Great food, huge portions, solid price. I ordered the steak eggs Benedict with the loaded hash browns and it was fantastic. The service was great too, they have an army of staff tending to everyone which helps a lot since it is so busy. We had a great breakfast and we will be back!

Lived here all my life and never tried Vidlak’s until the other day. Completely unpretentious interior. I don’t think anything about this place has changed since they opened in 1996, which I love! Comfortable booth, excellent food and good service. Will definitely be back!

This is such a great little place to stop by to eat. I really enjoyed the good and it's all very reasonably priced for how much food you get with it. The atmosphere is very relaxing and feels super family oriented. If you're in the area this is a place you'll have to stop at for a bite to eat!

breakfast with inlaws: It was a chilly morning. The cafe was packed with regulars and customers going on to the Nebraska practice football game . I had a 2 egg white and 1 reg egg omelet with mixed vegetables, hashbrowns and a side of jalapenos. My brother in law had eggs with a beef patty. The food came as requested and tasted great.

Old Fashioned breakfast diner with good prices. The cinnamon roles are soft and hot with good flavor, the omelets are customizable and amazing, but the French toast is something similar to what you can make easily from home. Hash browns are crunchy and rich.

We stopped to have breakfast and were very pleased. There was no wait to be seated and wait staff was there to get our drinks quickly. Breakfast was great. Pancakes were fluffy and delicious. Eggs were perfectly over medium. Bacon was crispy. Coffee is like restaurants use to service, none of this (medium, latte, dark, cinnamon flavored) stuff. Just good hot coffee. Chicken fryer steak, eggs, hash browns are the best.

Very large facility with many many tables. Touted as a breakfast cafe especially on the weekends. Bathrooms very large (one person). Coffee $1.99. Very few entrees under $9.99. Value Okay. Food okay. WiFi very good. Staff very friendly and cordial. Lady always coming around to fill coffee (EXCELLENT). Had the cinnamon roll - okay, but not impressed.

Had nine ladies join me for lunch at this establishment and we were very impressed. The food was totally comfort food, i had the Western Omelet and the dollar pancakes with the best crispy hashbrowns ever. Not a complaint from my friends just a nice experience by all. Great food, great service and good prices. I had the patty melt which was awesome, the burger patty wasn't one of those frozen mass produced hockey pucks but a homemade well seasoned patty. Fries were hot and crunchy. Definitely recommend!

Vidlak's is one of Omaha's best breakfast diners! I usually go for the Hungry Man platter with pancakes, but I've also been known to crush a chicken fried steak from time to time. (Which happens to be a best seller.) The service is always spot on, my coffee cup is never empty!!

We were introduced to Vidlak's Brookside Café via the Fox 42 Breakfast Tour and this was our third visit since August 2017. The tour has taken us to different areas of Omaha that we haven’t seen in the six years that we have lived in Omaha and has introduced us to some fine restaurants to eat breakfast. Although the Vidlak's Brookside Cafe, has an address on West Center Road, it cannot be accessed from West Center Road. We found this out because Google led us down West Center Road. It is in a small shopping center than can only be accessed from the southbound side of Bob Boozer Dr. Once we found our way there, it is another restaurant with a bright and airy atmosphere. The place is spotless, although some of the booths are well worn and could stand to be reupholstered. When you walk in, you choose your own seat, you have selection of booths and tables. A few minutes after we sat down, a friendly waiter brought us our menus and asked if we wanted water and coffee while we looked at the menu. On our first two visits, we ordered from a pre-fix menu and the food was always good. However, this time we got to try other items on their menu. I had their Cattleman’s Egg Benedict which is an eggs benedict made with a 7oz NY Strip Steak served on a toasted English muffin, drizzled with hollandaise sauce and served with hash browns. It was a unique twist on the Eggs Benedict that I was used to. The steak was cooked just the way I asked for, rare, and the Hollandaise Sauce was delicious. My wife had 2 Blueberry Pancakes and 4 strips of crisp bacon. The pancakes covered the plate and the bacon was cooked the way she likes it. In summary Vidlak’s provides a lot of good food served fast with friendly service. It is a good place to start off your day. I’ve attached pictures from all our visits.

Good food, great service, fair prices. This place is always packed so I wasn’t surprised when we visited that we had to wait to be seated. It was a tad annoying as there was a huge section that was closed. They could have filled it with the high traffic this cafe gets. My only other knock is that the decor is terrible. It’s clean enough in the restaurant, but has no style to the decor. The chairs are banquets style that were out of style when they opened in the late 90’s. The three in my party got - kids grilled cheese, Mexi potato casserole and a burger. All of us cleaned our plates, earning Vidlak’s Cafe a 5 star rating.

Love Vidlak's for breakfast/brunch!! Not much to look at but don't let that fool ya! Love their club and onion rings and the food is always quick, fresh and delicious. Everything we have tried on the menu has been great, so much so that we drive all the way across town to go here a few times a month.

Looking for a great breakfast with that mom and pop atmosphere instead of a boring restaurant chain? Consider the search at an end. The food is delicious, especially the blueberry pancakes (they can seriously be eaten cold if saved for later), the servers are angels, and the entire staff is family friendly. There is a large party area if going out as group or family meal. Have yet to try the lunch menu, but if it is anything like their breakfast, it will not disappoint.

Very good place to have breakfast, I had the cattleman's casserole with two silver dollar pancakes. I didn't think it would be enough to fill me up but it was. Casserole was flavorful and filling, pancakes were great. My fiance had the cinnamon roll french toast with a scrambled egg. It tasted great. Overall it was $25 for both of us, definitely worth it. Will eat again!

I have lived just a few blocks away from Vidlak's Diner for awhile. Today stopped in about lunch time on a weekday. It was busy but not crowded. Met by a server almost immediately and had the hottest cup of coffee in my hand within a few minutes of my initial contact. I ordered several items off the breakfast menu. Eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, and a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was as big as a dinner plate and amazing. Bacon was cooked to perfection(not brittle not bendy) sausage had a little char on it which I love. The hashbrowns were crispy and seasoned well. Biscuits and Gravy were very good but required a season to taste situation. I always order over medium eggs and usually they come out over easy but not today. The eggs were perfectly over medium. After all of this I needed to order a potato pancake. The potato pancake was savory and crisp. I will be coming back very soon!

We went on a Thursday morning and spent $26 for a huge brunch for 2. The country Benedict was pretty good but the real star was the Eggstacy sandwich, which is basically a BLT with eggs. Everything was done well and served quickly, and the coffee was pretty good compared to what I expected for an old school diner.

This is the best place in Omaha for a home style breakfast. This is a family owned restaurant and very much has the small town feel with classic american breakfast and lunch options. The food quality is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. This is also the only place in Omaha I know of to get a quality hot sandwich like a hot turkey sandwich, hot hamburger etc.. with good quality gravy. Some of the chain restaurants may offer hot sandwich options but in my experience the quality of the gravy and the meat they use is lacking by comparison.

Just what I was hoping for - a genuine family-operated "greasy spoon". Please don't mistake "greasy spoon" for poor quality food. Its a New England expression used for home style good eats in a simple setting. So here goes: Ambiance': Its a diner, not a French restaurant. Vidlak's is clean and simple. Tables and chairs and great waitstaff. Service: Everyone from hostess to bus and waiter was pleasant and attentive. The waitstaff was attentive but not annoyingly so. Requests were serviced upon demand and within 60 seconds despite a heavy client load (Sunday at 12:30PM). Food: Having been exactly once I can only speak for what I had: Oatmeal and a "Gut Buster". The oatmeal was of perfect consistency and good quality and taste (if you like oatmeal:) The Gut Buster consists of: 2 eggs, 2 sausage patties (not junky patties either) 2 homemade German potato pancakes, toast, coffee. The toast was good quality bread and toasted just right without being soaked in an inappropriate amount of real butter. Eggs were easy over to my order and were cooked perfectly. No burnt or crisp egg-white edges, just perfectly cooked. Pork sausage that actually tasted like pork sausage instead of being laced with MSG. Coffee was standard quality diner coffee. I'm a coffee fanatic and very few venues will satisfy my penchant for high-quality grounds but that is another story. The pièce de résistance were the German potato pancakes. Coming from an ethnic household I feel my judgement is worthy. These were the best potato pancakes outside of grandma's kitchen. They were pan fried sans massive amounts of grease. They did not leave you feeling like you swallowed a whole potato, rather pleasingly filled. All in all I would rate Vidlak's a 27 on a Zagat(r) scale for the class of restaurant it is. If you are looking for a fine dining experience, this is not the place to be. But if you are looking for fantastic home style cooking then Vidlak's is for you. Bon appétit!

Vidlaks is a short order breakfast lunch restaurant. All of your standards as available, pancakes, CFS, omelets, et cetera. Everything is inexpensive, particularly for the quality. It is a pretty large restuarant, and is typically very busy. Staff moves tables quickly, so rarely do you have to wait long. Worst part of Vidlaks is the small waiting area.
