I absolutely love this place! Generous portions, tasty food, clean facility (side note: I watched a nice worker washing the walls including the woodwork - details matter). The ribs were flavorful and freshly prepared!

Haven't been here in years and the food still tastes just as good as I remember it. Meat is seasoned very well. The rice also has greasy but tasty feel to it , also has some similar seasoning like the meat. Fries are look crunchy but super soft on the bite. Soda was ice cold even without the cup of ice! Very good food very good service plenty of room to sit. Place was super clean and the staff was super nice! 10/10

This is my favorite BBQ place in Newark NJ! The food is delicious and I have been a costumer for over 5 years. The food continues to be amazing but I have notice small changes with two things. 1.) The hygiene of the restaurant, there are many flies inside the restaurant and I saw a mouse running around once. 2.) The waitresses never come to check to see if everything is ok or if you need anything, we sometimes have to walk to the register to pay for our meal bc the waitress never comes. I still love the food from here so 4 stars it is!

The best Northern style BBQ in NJ is found..... this is the place to go in Newark whenever you crave some BBQ. It’s phenomenal, but not like the southern style BBY from NC Seriously. I have eaten both styles of BBQ and both are good but in my opinion Southern style is the best BBQ in the US.

The food was great taste was a pleasant surprise smokey aroma and flavor of the chicken how it was cooked very juicy breast the flavor was great so much food for 10 dollars wow i think two people can eat from one order this is how fast food should be in and out less then 5 minutes wow for restaurants quality food i did not go in the restaurant just the kitchen for take out

Food taste good Salad was fresh and plenty, but expected more chicken for a $14 half order chicken breast with rice and salad... Btw. salad was .50 extra and plus tax.. but overall decent meal

Very tasty barbecue chicken, sides only rice and fríes. Super generous sides portion, chicken are medium, small size enough for two..there is no to many options in the menu. The atmosphere isn’t welcome you to stay to dining in.... better take out. Price/quality & quantity very good!!

They need to change the plates and utensils. They look old and full of stains. I don't get why eating in the restaurant and take-out has different prices if their service doesn't look neat.

I have been coming to this establishment since my son was 1 it was a recommendation from his late grandfather who LOVED this place. It's been 14 years and consistency is the key to success. I can honestly say that they still make great food and there really has not been a Huge jump in the price tag. Hoping to have many more family nights catered by them in the future.

I was very pleasantly surprised. The chicken was very juicy and the fries were actually tasty. I wish the fries were crisper though. The ribs were good and they are reasonably priced as well. I would call ahead if possible but even when I forgot to do so I still didn’t wait for too long.

The chicken and pork ribs here are DELICIOUS! Especially the chicken - it is very savory. Their combos are very large and can easily be split between 2 people. Their prices are also great! They serve a lot of food which tastes amazing and at extremely affordable prices. Also, the staff is super nice and welcoming.

Very long wait but you should know why! It's so good. Get a whole chicken and it comes with rice. It is so good and worth it! You may even have leftovers and it is just as good. It's like the meal that keeps on giving!!!

Food is awesome! The people there are pretty chill people's. They move very quickly. (Even when the place is crowded they move quickly). I love the back of the restaurant as well, it's nicely designed. The only thing that I can say is possibly wrong with this place is the vibe a tall skinny black kid such as myself get when I go-to the back, I get the feeling that the majority of the Hispanics back there aren't exactly happy that I'm around there, but that has nothing to do with the restaurant, that's just how some people are lols

Street parking is difficult to find, but is worth it for this place. Lots of takeout, but a separate room in the rear offers tables to eat there. Had a whole order of spareribs, which comes nicely smoked and mildly seasoned, meaty and moist, as well as heaping helpings of rice and fries. Enough really for two. They also serve beef ribs and chicken, which I will have to try on my next visit. For the price, it is well worth it and the service was friendly and attentive.

Fast service, their food is faulty becoming a trademark of Newark, even part of its culture. Their chicken with rice and French fries is definitely my favorite, but their ribs are also very good, and i even saw them grill fish, even though i never had it myself. It's very cheap for the amount of food you get. Definitely recommend

Consistently delish and affordable, been going for many years, I consider them a casual mom and pop shop, we know the friendly grillers/cooks. Elm.St BBQ never disappoint. I've been coming to this restaurant for YEARS. Excellent customer service and Delicious food. Prices are super! You pay $14 and can feed easily 3/4 people with the portions you get. Out of ALL the ironbound BBQ restaurants in the area this is by far my FAVORITE one. Highly recommended!

Elm Street Barbecue is a company favorite. Every major meeting or event, this is our go to BBQ place. They offer large portions. Their whole rack sized orders are enough to feed 3 to 4 adults for less than 20 (depends on what you order, usually much less). Their ribs are very well made and taste amazing. Topped with a side of fries and/or rice, you'll leave happy, full, and satisfied.

This is the greatest Barbecue establishment in the entire solar system. This is what my grandfather said about this place, before he passed away suddenly at the age of 103: He was a good man, and had Barbecued chicken since he was three years old, thereby making him the only man in history to barbecue for one century. Excellent Chicken every time. That’s why hundreds of thousands of people eat here every day. The first floor alone can hold more than 1100 people.

Little hole in the wall type place but they have the absolute best chicken and ribs. They serve them with a huge portion of rice and fries. You can't beat the prices either. Definitely worth checking out if you like BBQ.

Awesome simple , down to earth place to go and get stuffed with the most amazing BBQ in the area, besides them your option is ferry BBQ they use the same formula to temper the meat that's why is so awesome spicy tasty. Parking can get a little tricky. The small but popular restaurant has a separate take out counter. Clean and service was prompt. Waiter spoke limited English but he will get help if needed. Prices were very fair and you get a lot of food. The whole chicken bbq came with a load of rice and french fries. The chicken was quite tasty, better than what we have had at other Portuguese BBQ eateries. The grilled fish was also quite tasty and it came with a lot of rice and some salad (lettuce, tomatoes, and onions).

This is the mother of all BBQ places in Newark. There are always seats available since it's blocks away from Ferry St. It certainly isn't the best meal I've ever had, but the quantity for the price can't be beat. Sometimes they throw too much salt on the chicken, but it is what it is. Please get the full chicken with rice and fries. Share it with a friend or take it home for lunch the next day. Don't forget...here's the secret...that the yellow container isn't mustard. It's some sort of hot sauce made in heaven. Throw that into the rice and thank me later.

Big portions , amazing food ..I have never had a complaint about this place, for about 12$ you have enough food for 3+ people , the staff is very friendly and you can also sit inside to pig out !
