Reviews of The Governor Seafood & Oyster Bar
Love the atmosphere here. It wasn’t super crowded even though it’s in the French quarter. Food was pretty good but I will go back from dinner instead of brunch. The bottomless mimosas are only 12$ which is cheap. The service was great! And the balcony seating was a great touch for a beautiful day.
So impressed! My husband and I went for brunch this weekend and really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service. Our server was so friendly and attentive. We went around 3pm so I think we just missed the rush. We started with the boudin balls and crab cakes, both very good. They weren’t skimpy with the seafood in the crab cakes. My husband got a salad which I think he enjoyed but mentioned that the shrimp were VERY salty. I tried the Brie with garlic and raw oysters, both great! The bottomless mimosas had a ton of OJ which ended up upsetting my stomach a bit so I could only have 2. We’ll definitely be back though.
Great place, really enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly staff. They did a great job making you feel welcome. I ordered the seafood omelet, which was the very best in New Orleans. I highly recommend giving them a try.
The waitress Trevor WAS THE BEST! Best server ever, funny, polite, and expeditious!!
The food here is amazing! Every little thing tasted immaculate!
Phenomenal!!
You won't leave hungry! Awesome breakfast. Had The Governer's Breakfast with the jambalaya and andouille sausage. It was amazing. Nancy was a wonderfully fun and sweet server! Liked this place so much that we came back for a second time on our trip.
Great food and cold drinks in the shade with a light breeze. Our server was fantastic and gave my wife a recommendation for something she would never have ordered otherwise, it was a hit.
We were in town Thursday for a show, it was late and we were famished. Stopped in for two dozen oysters and some cold draft beer. The oysters we had were great, cold and salty. Definitely got a great deal. Our bartender was quick and courteous, couldn't have been a nicer fellow.
New Orleans has a lot to offer, and adding The Governor to your must eat list may be cutting it short, but the this place has a lot to offer for a ''tourist trap''. Try the deep fried Alligator; it's worth it!
DELICIOUS food, great prices, and tucked away in a quieter part of downtown. Venture away from Bourbon street to this gem. Our server, Deja Vu, was one of the kindest, most attentive waiters I've experienced in years. Definitely recommended.
Our family's favorite restaurant in the French Quarter! Everything here is amazing! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks all are so good! We will definitely be back often.
The food was really good and flavorful! Pleasant atmosphere and very fast service. Perfect for anyone in a hurry. Would definitely go again.
Amazing food and service tonight! From the redfish to the cocktails, this place offered up one of the best meals I’ve had NOLA. Keep up the great work Sunshine and team! Highly recommend!
Great food! Awesome people! Came here twice during my 4 day New Orleans visit. The manager was super sweet and talked with us the whole time we were there, definitely needed that hearty food before the bar crawl. The second time I came in alone and had a great conversation with the bartender, Kenna. She was super cool and interesting to talk to. This place has got it all going on. This is on my list of places to come back to in New Orleans. The Jambalaya and Pasta NOLA are both great and pair well with a Hurricane or two. Enjoy!
No line, bottomless mimosas, great food! Lrs Bon Temps Rouler Omlette with jambalaya, and Pontchartrain benedict with potatoes. Mmmm. Server even gave us to go mimosas!
Yums! I didn’t do my homework before visiting NOLA & completely stubbled into The Governor. Apparently, I stubbled well because it was the best meal I had while there. I had pasta. I rarely eat pasta because they don’t it for me. But I’m happy the ingredients struck a cord. Very delicious! The flavors come together in your mouth like a pleasant surprise. The staff was friendly and they have plenty of room with upstairs seating. I have no plans of visiting NOLA again but if I do, definitely on the list. Oh, and lovely wine.
Sad this place is closed- we had a pretty good time with bottomless mimosas on the balcony during Mardi Gras before the world shut down. Our server was so sweet and bubbly I hope she’s gainfully employed.
Decent breakfast for a decent price and not jam packed like Fleur-de-Lis next door. More relaxed. Nothing fancy. My over easy eggs were a bit runny. Otherwise all else was good.
The cucumber raw oyster is sooooo good! Better than what we had yesterday in some oyster bar. This is a new restaurant but I strongly recommend the omelette and raw oysters!
I absolutely recommend this place ifyou LOVE baked oysters!!! Plus , you can eat on the balcony level, which was perfect for our last day here in New Orleans.
Our group from out of town had a private party on the second floor and we pretty much unanimously agreed that the Shrimp Clemenceau (grits + a lot of other textures) and Blasted Brussel Sprouts were our faves! The Blackened Shrimp Caesar Salad and Pasta Nola were not very special.
Got to get a taste of everything I wanted to for a short trip to NOLA. Welcoming staff. Oysters weren't super special, but not bad.
The food was amazing, bottomless mimosas was a bonus. Jeremy was great, he gave great recommendations on what was delicious to try. Service was good, no complaints
Out-freakin'-standing. A place that knows how to make a Tom Collins and the food was awesome. Noelle was prefect. Helpful, attentive but not intrusive. You must have the stuffed Gulf fish. A first class taste of everything yummy about NOLA.
P.S. the oysters were prefect. Tasteful and not overcooked.
Great New Orleans breakfast. Had the Laissez les Bon Temps Roullez omelet and loved it. Bottomless mimosas never hurt anyone!
Amazing friendly staff. "Sunshine" and the ladies taking VERY good care of us. Perfectly done food.
The breakfast was amazing! I'm hoping to go back for lunch but I'm already impressed!!
Really great food at amazing prices. Friendly and attentive staff.
Very attentive service, excellent food, generous portions. I reccomend.
Portions are pretty big and the food is good. The red beans and rice is excellent - highly recommended.
Scrumptious brunch and spectacular service. Gotta try the oysters, crab claws, French toast, and fish fingers.
Good food, great service, but don't buy into the mimosas (they suck)!
Great bar. Bloody Mary excellent. Oysters were not that great. Not bad but not crisp and clean. Don’t know where the were harvested.
Super good! India was an amazing waitress and the food was great. Gin Fizz was so tasty too.
Found this great restaurant by accident. Great find. Love the food and the service. Quintessential New Orleans.
Great food, great service. Nancy and Sunshine were awesome. Will definitely go back if we’re back in NOLA again. I love French toast and it’s not always good, but it was delicious here. Beware the dangers of bottomless mimosas!
Great spot! Delicious chicken & waffles!
We ate a late dinner here and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food for the price. Our entire meal, including boudin balls for an appetizer, was excellent. My husband said it was the best red fish he’s ever had. We highly recommend this place for a casual, lower cost dinner.
I had the plate called " The Peacemaker" and it was delicious. I came in with a friend and ask if we could eat at the balcony and they allowed us (I guess people reserve them because they mentioned that nobody was going out there today) anyways I also got a drink called "The Blaze" it was also perfect, very refreshing for the warm weather. Our waitress was very friendly and kept on checking on us. The meals were a bit pricey but not extremely expensive. Overall I think it is a great place to eat. Especially if you're on a date.
We were walking down the street looking for brunch when we heard Sunshine outside of the Governor and she drew us in. She sat us at a balcony table and was incredibly kind and sweet. Our waitress was fun and energetic and took fantastic care of us. Bottomless mimosas and great food made for an excellent brunch! Highly recommend, great staff!!
We've stopped in here 3 times so far on our trip to new orleans. Good atmosphere and the service is great. All the employees are friendly and welcoming. Cody was our server on 2 occasions and she's great. Tasha the service manager was so attentive and sweet. I can't remember the name of the hostess at the door the other day when we were here but she was so friendly. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. They have a good variety of choices from breakfast to dinner! I'm sure we'll be back before we leave new Orleans.
Very friendly staff. Salmon is phenomenal, sweet and savory goodness. Their fries are good and crunchy yummyness. They are a little pricey but it's a touristy area so they are average price. Loved our server. When they get packed expect to wait a bit for your food but that's true anywhere.
Excellent service and excellent food. Our server India was very good and the GM Tasha made our experience really wonderful by letting us sample the a couple of desserts free! The food was far better than Acme without a doubt. They even have a heavenly breakfast menu that is an absolute experience!! You will be glad you came!
We wandered into this cafe and had a WONDERFUL breakfast/brunch. We ordered the chicken and waffles which was delicious and it came with a fig maple syrup that was to die for!!! The drinks were great and the coffee was perfect. Everyone from the hostess to the manager was polite and attentive. We will definitely be back.
This place deserves a 10 star 🌟 🌟 rating!!! The atmosphere is very welcoming and the food is so GOOD!!! My server “Brandie”was the best!!! She constantly checked on me and she was so kind. I also met the manager “Tasha” 😊 whom also was very nice. I’ll definitely be back here on my next visit to Nola!! …
We went here because the first place we went to was packed and had a wait. Lucky for us because it turned out to be an awesome experience! Not only was the food great but the atmosphere and service was phenomenal. The service manager Tasha was simply superb and our waiter Jeremy was super. The grits were the best I've ever had. Will definitely return.
We stopped in to this corner seafood bar to grab a cocktail and oysters, and were beyond impressed on both accounts. The cocktails were delicious, and the baked oysters were full of amazing flavors, and served with wonderful presentation. Additionally, the atmosphere was on point. The dining room was squeaky clean, our server Jessica was sweet and swift, and the owner even left the bar to pick up something I dropped at the table! Can not recommend enough, If I could give 6 stars, I would!
We were greeted in the street by the hostess on our way to the cafe next door. We would’ve passed this place by because we were looking for brunch and we assumed that this was only a seafood restaurant so we’re really glad she stopped us. The staff was very friendly and the food was great! There were lines out the door for other local brunch places so we felt like we hit the jackpot finding this place. We would definitely recommend!
This place is AMAZING!!! The food is great and the mimosas were on point. Nicole and Angie are the best with customer service. Stop by and see them, you wont be disappointed. The omelets are amazing and the sweet corn grits!!!!! I'll be stopping on my way out going home to Nashville to get a to go plate!!!
This place was amazingly good. They had some fried alligator which was wayyyy better than the alligator poppers I tried at another place. Before leaving to drive home we had to stop by and take some on the road 😄 Kody was my server and she was great. It was my birthday and I had the bottomless mimosas. She kept them coming too 😂💙 Her service manager was excellent! She had me cracking up. Their food portions were huge and prices were very decent. It was good vibes all the way around and the have an upstairs balcony you can sit out on. Great time and I will be back next time I come to new Orleans!
We ducked in on a rainy morning to learn that the kitchen was serving every menu option. Breakfast is served until 4 PM. The Service Manager Tasha seated us and checked in with us periodically, and Cody (uncertain if I am spelling her name correctly) took care of us well. We ordered breakfast. The coffee was excellent, my husband loved his Bloody Mary too. Food was top notch. I hadn't asked what the Pork Belly Trinity was, I just knew I wanted to order it - in the breakfast bowl. We both asked for the side of Sweet Cream Corn Grits, and these were the best grits I have ever had, served up in a formed scoop (almost like ice cream). We had sworn we were going to spend today eating salads, but the breakfast options were too tempting to pass up! So glad we ventured in this morning!
Great service! Delicious food and drinks
This place was quite a great surprise! We passed it by several times walking around the French Quarter but decided in a whim one day to try it out. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my husband ordered the chicken sandwich. The chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly which was a breast cut up. The Belgium waffles were tasty; crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Great personal syrup along with a little fresh fruit on the side. Hubby's sandwich was seasoned well with a hot sauce. Well worth a try!
Saturday brunch spot with no line, great food, and good service. Happy to have found a good Bloody Mary. I was worried at first because the base is ZingZang but the bartender assured me they doctored it up. He was totally correct! Their house infused vodka and the delicious spice liquids they add really made an amazing drink.
Raw oysters were good, brie oysters were amazing, fried green tomatoes had a good sauce but I should have got it on the side because I hate mushy fried foods. They had a lot of other delicious choices on the menu as well.
This was our very first visit to this restaurant and we will definitely be back. The manager, Sunshine, and bartender, Tracy, made a great team. We watched them work together managing the busy flow of lunchtime and we were in awe. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a manager so attentive, caring, and compassionate about their restaurant. Way to go!
Late bite. I had the shrimp and crabcake sandwich with potato salad as the side. Great cakes, light breading, fresh and well seasoned. The slaw on the sandwich had a good crunch and really good flavor. Bun was spot on. Potato salad side was a good portion but I could have gone for more since it was so tasty.
Our server was attentive, polite and professional. It was quiet when we were in but the staff were still on their game and not slacking about when they really could have been.
Just had some of the BEST chicken and waffles ever! The fried chicken itself is amazing, but the fig-infused cane syrup put it over the top! Not to mention, the service was absolutely amazing... Jared was the best! Absolutely coming back!!
Loved the service! Bottomless mimosas awesome! Great Shrimp PoBoy!
Absolutely blissful! The grilled gulf shrimp in that sauce is ridiculously good! Service was amazing. It was clean. Good vibes and close but not in the middle of the bourbon street madness. Its perfect.
I ordered the Pontchartrain Benedict and my husband ordered the The Front Runner omelet and we both got the bottomless Mimosas which started our day off great. Our server was very nice and engaging. The hostess and some of the other staff were unpleasant though which could have been improved.
Food was amazing! You could tell the chef really put his/her heart and soul into the preparation of the delicious food. I was with a party of 8 and each dish was expertly prepared with fresh ingredients! I highly recommend eating here.
The Governor’s staff was amazing. Hats of to Tommy the bartender who’s customer service was THE BEST. Also a special shout out to Tasha (the manager) she was very friendly and made the place very inviting. The food was awesome. Everything we ordered was quick to come out, hot and tasty.
The service was friendly and cheerful throughout - the oysters were tasty, and the red beans and rice was very good (once I'd added a little hot sauce). The location is great too, and the ambience looking out onto a very lively street in the French Quarter made for a perfect dinner in New Orleans. I'd definitely go back!
Our server Jeremy was amazing
As was Brandie & the rest of the staff .
Great food, great people watching
The food here is delicious! My husband had the Vieux Carre Redfish and it was amazing. His drink was the Great Debate, it was outstanding. I had the Cajun Stuffed Fish. It was probably one of the best meals that I had during my week long stay in NOLA. I don't like brussel sprouts but these were cooked to perfection. I am now a fan. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful. Make sure to try the Strawberry Spangled Banner cocktail. It is fabuuuulous! Our meal ended with a delicious dessert the Good Ole Chocolate Brownie. I am a brownie lover and it was superb. We will be back!
Relaxed with very friendly and attentive service. I can't speak to authenticity of food being from out of this region, but it tasted good. My raw oysters were super fresh and very generously sized.
The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the hostess was rude and she had an attitude and started our experience off on a bad note. We would have left had we not been really hungry. However, the bartender, waitress and manager were so friendly and fun and gave us excellent service. We went in for breakfast and bottomless mimosas. The bartender made sure our glasses were never empty. The corn grits are so good and the pontchartrain benedict was delicious. They have a vodka infused with olives, onions and greenbeans for the bloody mary's, very tasty. Now, the oysters!!! We had oysters at several different establishments while visiting NOLA, these were the best, very clean, cold, sweet and briney, sooooo good. We ended up going back the next morning for breakfast. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.
Stopped in for a drinks and appetizers. The staff was friendly, I reccomend having the crabcakes and pomegranate poinsettias.
freakin fantastic!!! no wait, superb staff, excellent food!
Sunshine is amazing! A complete sweetheart. We came in for bottomless mimosas and were not disappointed. The spinach and crab cake dip is to DIE for. Will definitely be back next time I am in NOLA. thank you to our server Sunshine!
We ended up in New Orleans due to hurricane Dorian. We were there because our cruise line NCL Breakaway had to dock there due to the hurricane. We walked around, up and around the French Quarter. We ended up at this establishment and we are so glad we did.The food is delicious, the mimosa was good, the bathroom was clean as was the restaurant. The staff were all very nice. Our server was Cody, she took over from Brandie whos shift ended. Also very nice and courteous. She didn't stir us wrong with any of our meal choice. E erything we ordered was so delicious. My busband and 2 sons tried the alligator bites and they loved it. Their 1st time trying. Definitely worth a visit. We will most definitely visit there again next time we are in New Orleans French Quarter. Thank you for the great service and for making us New Yorkers feel at home.
The food was great and love the service!! Very chilled atmosphere!
Good, but not up to par with what I expect from New Orleans cuisine. We shared a seafood platter and a dozen raw oysters. This was the only place in NOLA that we encountered some sand in our oysters. We won't be back. There many better places to eat.
Tasha the service manager was excellent!! She personally sat us and checked on us as well as other tables, the baked oysters and shrimp and crab cake omelette were the perfect hangover cure. I will go back when in town..
A warm and attentive service, Garlin took very good care of us. We would highly recommend the baked oysters. The salmon salad and Nola linguine were superb. A great pleasure to sit on the balcony and savour the atmosphere on the last day of our holiday.
We walked in at 11am on a busy Friday morning and didn't have to wait for a table. The sampler platter is a must if you're doing a quick visit to NOLA, it included a pick 3 Creole sampler. We got the gumbo, jambalaya, and etouffee. We also ordered shrimp/crab cakes bennedict. Good service, a good price, and good food.
Words can not express my 45 birthday was awesome and my waitresses sparkle was the best. The food was amazing!! I have told so many people about this little quaint place. I trying to plan a new trip soon. We y'all asap!!!!
This place has such great service with their bubbly manager Sunshine and waitress Sparkle. They catered to us as if we were the only people there. The corn grits was amazing and omelette seasoned perfectly. Second time in NOLA and I definitely will be back here again.
The french quarter has some hidden treasures among all the big-hyped restaurants and this is one of them. The Governor has excellent food at good prices. The staff was great. The decor and branding are also really cool. I will definitely come back here. If you want to avoid the crowds on Bourbon street and the long lines at places like Acme, come here for a very comparable meal, at better prices, in a nicer setting . i recommend the crawfish etouffee and any of the oysters.
We came here for the $12 bottomless mimosas. we were slightly worried at the beginning, because it looked like they weren't going to refill them however, we have been a sitting here for for hours and love it. No, not the awesome mimosas talking, but great service and an awesome people watching spot!
Some of the best food we had in New Orleans. The blackened red fish with shrimp was marvelous. Our friends got chicken and waffles. A great crunch with a flavorful syrup. It was definitely a bar.
So many options in the French Quarter and this is one of the best ones! Bottomless mimosas for breakfast with phenomenal food to boot. Staff is very attentive. Best part, this place won't break the bank either.
Wonderful environment... service was excellent. Staff (Steven and Tasha) were so friendly and attentive. I had "bottomless# mimosas... always had a full glass without asking. I would recommend this place for food, service and environment.
Maybe the best meal I've ever had. Highly recommend
I came in for a friends birthday and Isiah was amazing!! He was very persistent, he made us feel welcomed, and he gave us a great first experience in New Orleans! I’m from Texas and the atmosphere he gave me along with the food was amazing. Thank you to the staff and Isaiah for adding value to this weekend! 😊 …
What a diamond in the rough! Excellent service, fried artichokes were the bomb, fried potatoes w cheese sauce, duck gumbo, and everything thing else were all amazing! So glad we didn't wait in line at a more popular place, this is where it's at!
Amazing food and service. We we're seated upstairs where it was nice and cool, a great treat away from the heat. Our waitress Troy was awesome. I highly recommend coming here.
This place was more of a 3.5 at best. I’m not sure where this 4.6 rating comes from. I will say the service was great but also lacking. It could have been better all around. The drinks were decent. The food was decent. We had a reservation and they ended up sitting our table cause we were running behind 10 mins. But the manager was super great and made accommodations for us anyways. There were just a lot of little things that we’re great but also not great. Our server was nice and good but I wish she smiled more to make the experience more inviting.
Food- we ended up getting 4 different appetizers and 1 of us got a meal. We went for the raw oysters which were good. Then we had the fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, crab cakes, and gator bites. They were honestly all just pretty good. Nothing amazing. The flavor was lacking a bit. The sauce was good. The eggs were pretty good as well as the gator bites. It was a neat location, but the whole vibe was just mediocre.
I tried Les Bons Temps Rouler Omelet
(Crab & shrimp cake, blackened Gulf shrimp & trinity, rémoulade hollandaise, sourdough toast/ corn grits ) This was very delicious and foot was served hot. Environment was pretty spacious and perf3ct for casual dining. Will return soon! :)
I was walking to another restaurant when i heard Tasha inviting people in and bragging about how great the food was, so i changed course and went in. I was not disappointed.
Jessica (bartender) was a great conversationalist and had excellent recommendations for food and drink. Will definitely be back.
Glorious service comes from the Top down!! Ms. Sunshine and the staff are so cool...now don’t forget the food! It’s all good... breakfast,lunch,dinner...cool atmosphere, music is very inviting ...music cool.... vibe cool... The Governor Restaurant will impress!
We r here from pgh. The food was crazy good. Sunshine. The manager was super. Our waitresses Lindsey. Could not have been any more nicer. We had a great time because of sunshine and Linsey. Going out to eat.is about food. And good people. If u want that. Come to the governor Bienville. New Orleans. Wonderful place.
Rita from pgh
Excellent food and service, and very reasonably priced. We just had the breakfast, and it is as good as anywhere in the quarter!
Brunch served all day. Yummy Eggs Pontchatrain - different take on eggs Benedict using crab cakes. Have to get the creamy grits as the side So delicious . Also ordered fried chicken and waffles. Thin crispy chicken strips and fig syrup to pour on top. Very friendly staff from hostess, management and waiter Oran.
I had the salmon and it was seasoned to perfection. The brussel sprouts and tomatoes were good too. I ordered a small but I recommend a large as I was still hungry; it did not come with enough veggies.
We had brunch here when the place we were aiming for had a long wait. The food, drinks were good, but the service was really odd. They all servers and busers seem like the place was packed and under staffed. It wasn’t, and there were plenty of servers but the service was slow. Maybe this is just a new staff I don’t know, but lost a star for the service.
Great find! The service and the food were amazing. Not as outrageously priced as the more trafficked restaurants in Jackson Square.
Must try the shrimp chowder, garlic chicken appetizer, and red beans and rice.
My husband and I went there last nite . We r from Pgh. Brandie who was the hostess At the door welcomed us like we where family And that is just what my husband and I felt like. What a great place to eat. Food outstanding staff superb. Want good food excellent service good people. GOT TO THE GOVERNORS. SEAFOOD & OYSTER BAR. BIENVILLE ST. IN NOLA. GREAT TIME
We stopped in this place to escape the rain and grab a small bite to eat and wow was it good. We got the fried shrimp po-boy and it was some of the best shrimp I have ever had! Highly recommended!
This place is amazing!!! Way better than any other brunch we’ve had in NOLA. Please consider this before anything like court of two sisters. Get the corn grits. So much goodness. Ask for Tony! Sunshine will take care of everyone.
Went for dinner. Server/ bartender seemed to be having a bad day. He was professional but clearly not happy to be there. The food was basic bar food. Bland, fried and pricey for what you get. They could of just been having a off night, but I wouldn't recommend this place.
Our waitress Ty, was so friend and nice it really made our experience fantastic! Even the manger Sunshine was friendly and inviting! The food was amazing as well!
The bottomless mimosas were excellent. The waitress and staff were very hospitable and kind. Everything came out in a timely manner and the prices weren't excessive.
The food is amazing. The best part was our server Nancy who is awesome. Super friendly super knowledgeable gave us an all around great experience.
Food was good but I was surprised the seafood boil soup was cream based. Service was ok but the food took quite a bit of time to arrive. Not many people were there at 2pm so was wonder why service was so slow. Floors were super slick upstairs made it kind of precarious to walk
The stuffed fish with Jambalaya and gumbo with duck were both amazingly flavorful. The service was also very friendly and prompt. I'd definitely recommend!
Had a wonderful time here. The food was awesome. Our waiter was very nice and helpful with suggestions. Déjà and Noel were so nice.
Sunshine and our waitor Issac was fabulous. The food was great, they give you very nice portions. The dessert potato pie was really good.
Just had the ponchartrain Benedict and a bloody mary and they were both GREAT! Service was good, my only compaint is that the door was open the whole time and it got pretty cold inside. Otherwise, great food great experience great service!
Great terrace. Waiter took my food before I was finished, somewhat disappointing because it was quite good. Coffee came in styrofoam cups which I though was strange. I'd go back.
Our server Tinequa was amazing. Food was great, service was fast. Fried alligator was fantastic. Portions huge. Super kid friendly.
Well priced, you may find a cheaper establishment but I seriously doubt that you will find the quality of food, courtesy service and cleaniness to match....great dining experience.
Standard tourist environment for getting as many people into a room as possible. Large room, many crowded tables. The only saving grace was the shrimp 'stew', which was quite good.
Garland was pretty attentive and had a good knowledge of the menu. The gumbo was a bit cold but the fish fingers were definitely fresh. Not a bad stop.
Friendly, courteous staff! Food was excellent! Nothing fancy but wow! I was impressed! Everything was super hot and fresh!! Would highly recommend!!
Our taxi driver from the airport mentioned this place. We didn’t give it much of a thought until we stumbled upon it later that night when we were starving! We were walking around looking for a place to eat and I remembered ‘oh that guy said eat at The Governor’s’. So happy we listened! Food was fantastic. We had the Brussels sprouts, the Election Day, and the shrimp
Clemenceau. Some of the best food we’ve ever had in New Orleans. Everything was fantastic. Would love to go for breakfast next time! Thanks Governor!
There were very few people in the restaurant but we waited a long time for our food. We had burgers and fries and they were good but weirdly my plate kept sliding around the table on it's own which made eating rather difficult.
Nice breakfast, very tasty, nice portions!
The service and food is excellent. Five of us ordered different entrees and shared. Shrimp Clemenceau is the best! The baked oysters are a phenomenal starter. The ambience is fun with a little history on the walls of the corrupt governors.
**update** Go at an off time and not during the rush! It was so good the first day we went back the second day and it was packed. The service was terrible upstairs, 40 minutes to get food; red beans and rice sat while the other meals were prepared. We asked to rush one of the plates so that person could make her flight but the server/bartender didn’t and said three times that the food was next up. We explained the situation with the food to the server being old and he offered to give us a sausage to add to the red beans plate and then said, well at least the rest of the food is good for everyone.
My waiter was phenomenal, the mimosas never ended. Everything we ate was delicious, waffles, french toast, eggs, potatoes and especially the sweet corn grits. Will definitely be back.
Such a great place!!! Bottomless mimosas are Real and ONLY $12. Steve the bartender was amazing !!! STRONGLY RECOMMEND. Food was so good too !!!
Our first and 5 days later, last restaurant in New Orleans. Great breakfast and lunch choices. Reasonably priced, friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent food. Friendly family environment. Absolute must in New Orleans! The white chocolate bread pudding is great!
Food came out hot and fresh. The grilled oysters were good. Service was prompt. Good quiet location to people watch.
Pineapple jalapeños margaritas and raw oysters FTW! Noelle and Sunshine are the best! Super friendly staff all Around. Bravo y’all.
Sooooo good! We had the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer and tried a few different meals and shared. Everything was delicious... bottomless mimosas were amazing too!
Kendra & Steven we're magnificent. Food was excellent. Tasty Bloody Mary. All around great choice for brunch.
Food was delicious.Service was a tad bit slow. I would definitely recommend eating here..Bottomless mimosas till 4pm were nice.
Excellent food, great service! By far our favorite spot this week. Glad we found it on our stroll tonight. A must try!
Great food! I had the Gulf Shrimp platter and everything on my plate was delicious! Look forward to
visiting again!
Beautiful historic location, excellent customer service, upstairs and downstairs seating with terrace dining! Menu selection was diverse and price point was fair!
Awesome place to eat me and my kids loved it definitely coming back
The food here is amazing and our server Antonio was super nice and as a NYer I'd say you can't beat their $12 bottomless mimosas for
Best view on the parade route with fantastic food and drink options!!!
Great food, great drinks, great service. We ate upstairs on the balcony. It was very nice shaded with large umbrellas.
Food was better than the pictures on Google, and those looked great Attentive staff and rocking jams. My $20 seafood combo platter was a ludicrous amount of food.
Red beans and rice reminded me of how my mom used to make it, and that's a high compliment (she's been gone almost 13 years now). Great food and service!

GREAT FOOD!!!
Although it was after closing of the kitchen during Mardi Gras season for a place in the French Quarter this was a really nice spot nearby Bourbon. Slightly classy and very chill. A lot of classier bars or bars in the Quarter often have slightly condescending bartenders, but Seamus was super dope. Very fun and relatable to us and our friends, served awesome drinks, and overall it was a great stop on our way to party more. Totally rad.
