Reviews of The American Sector
We were visited the WWII War Museum and stopped in to have a meal. I ordered the seared salmon with kale and beets. The salmon was done perfectly and the beets and kale were very good. Their shrimp poor boy looked appetizing as well. I was pleasantly surprised and pleased.
Very nice place for lunch after you tour the museum! The staff are great & very attentive! The classic cheeseburger was perfectly done! Their patty melt is one of the best I've ever had! The fries are seasoned so perfectly you don't need dipping sauce!
12/30/21
My grandson and I got there about noon. Hated to show my vaccination record. Medical information should be private. Not their fault. I could have just left. And had I not been with my grandson, I would have. Might be there is a tyrant running the city.
We just ordered drinks and hamburgers. The burger was good, but nothing special, especially for the charge. The fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They were good.
The ambiance was very fitting for a restaurant near the WW2 museum. It was pleasant and spacious.
The wait staff was friendly. But I had to wait a couple of minutes for the waitress to notice my glass was empty and I wanted a refill. Then it took long for the refill to appear once she had my glass. I told the manager they needed to get drink refills closer to the customers rather than make the staff walk so far and the customers wait so long.
What a delicious Gumbo and Fresh catch fish. This restaurant is inside the WWII Museum and food is amazing! And coffee is really good
After a few hours of walking around the WWII museum, eating here is a must. The food was very delicious and well priced. My favorite dish was the beignets that where cut into fries and strawberry sauce drizzled over the top. The only thing I didnt like was the $3 charge for a glass of water.
Excellent restaurant. The ambiance and food are superb! Our server, Jessica went above and beyond all expectations!!! If you’re ever in New Orleans you must try The American Sector.
Bright & airy restaurant inside the World War II Museum designed similar to a 1950's style cafeteria. The bartender/waitress was outstanding. The food was delicious.
Tried the gumbo. Food tasted OK but the service was pretty bad. We were ignored at the door for a good 10 minutes before someone got us a table. Then we were ignored for another 15 minutes while customers who came in after us were served. This was all happening while the place was fairly empty, 5 occupied tables in the restaurant max.
Was much higher class than I expected, but that's not a bad thing. Waitress and staff were amazing! Fast and good food!
Wow, what a museum. Neither of us was particularly interested in a war museum, but with this place being listed in the top ten of major travel books, and several other local recommendations, we ventured to visit the WWII Museum in NO. Immersive settings with real articles to tell the stories of WWII made it easy to follow. I had never realized the extent of what happened in the Pacific Ocean with the Japanese until this visit.
I enjoyed the food and experience, just wished the portions would have been a little bigger.
Inside the WW2 museum there is this amazing restaurant that was surprisingly DELICIOUS!
We got the BBQ brisket PoBoy and it did not disappoint.
The restaurant was fast and clean. All servers were friendly. Peach bbq was not what I expected and I fell in love with it. You must eat here!
This was my second time visiting New Orleans and knew I had to come back to this restaurant. This was my favorite place last time and it was still my favorite this time. The food and drinks are out of this world. For a smaller restaurant that exists only as an extension of a museum, this food rivals any food in New Orleans. During happy hour they offer small bits, one of which is peach bbq ribs, that is legit the best ribs I've had in my life. I dream about those ribs. Got the rosemary Riveter and the GI punch to drink and were the best drinks in New Orleans. Only drinks during the trip I ordered a second one of. For dessert, we got Beignet Fries. These were better than the café Du mont and the café Beignet's put together. They were drizzled in chocolate and raspberry.
An underrated and under-appreciated restaurant in a town with some of the best food in the world. I loved most of the meals I had in New Orleans, but this was in another ballpark. For such a quaint and quiet place, its food is of five-star quality. Even if you skip the museum, this restaurant is worth the effort.
I have been to more than a few museums. I typically avoid the in-house dining due to the food being "so-so" and the price being sky-high. However, and on this occasion, we chose to try out the American Sector during our visit. And wow was I surprised. The food is very good. But what impressed me the most was our service. Our server was exceptional! Very impressive!
Didn't realize this is part of the National WWII Museum here until after we ate.
Solid spot, fresh and hot food good portions and service
Had the gumbo for lunch. Decent portion $11 for a big bowl. Good flavor with just a tad of spice. Add some Tabasco and it's perfect for me.
The rest of the group had shrimp po boy (BIG), chicken sandwich, patty melt and a Burger. All were reasonably priced considering the location and portions were good.
More often than not, restaurants connected to museums are just so so: that's not the case with The American Sector! It's a very good, upscale restaurant with stellar service! It takes, at least, a full day to tour the WWII National Museum ....so, plan your lunch break at this wonderful restaurant. Refuel and recharge yourself... and, then, finish touring the museum. It's worth the time.
Great decor and nice looking restaurant, but we were very disappointed in the food! The shrimp gumbo was a bowl of what can only be described as slop and tasted about the same. The burgers were alright, but not cooked right and had to be returned, twice. The one star of the meal was the Beignet Fries. Excellent!
We stopped here for a quick break while at the world war 2 museum. Excellent service from the bartenders. We got a salad and some cheese dip and it was so good. It's so refreshing to have a museum with a full bar and a excellent food!
A fun and convenient place to eat when you are visiting the museum. However, the food is really expensive. It is good tasting and you can get an authentic ice cream float there. The whole World War II museum experience is fantastic. So if you don't want to wander far to get food, this is a choice.
It took 45min to have our food on the table (15min before taking our order, 30min after), while the restaurant was barely full (we still had to wait 10min on the waiting list). The food was surprisingly good, though. But next time, we'd probably eat outside to have more time in the museum.
We went to the American Sector restaurant at the WWII museum on the 12th December 2022. We got a nice sitting by the window. Our waitress Patricia was very helpful, attentive and efficient. The food was nice too, I had a small bowl of soup du jour and chicken diablo, my husband had a veg burger with fries. Coffee was good with as many refills as you want. It was one of the better restaurants we ate at in New Orleans. Thank you.
From appearances this is a lovely restaurant, but our meal was a disappointment. Our server wasn't overly communicative in her answers to our questions about several items on the menu. And service was extremely slow. 20 minutes to get our entrees. 20 more minutes to get desert. And 15 more to get the check. Never saw sweet tea or ice water refills. The pulled pork nachos were ok, good size pieces of meat, but not a hit. Roma Crunch wedge had a nice presentation and was very good. Bread pudding was OK while the Creme Brulee was very nice.
If you’re eating at a museum, it’s usually out of necessity and convenience. But the cheeseburger was one of the best I’ve ever had. Pleasantly surprised by how good the food was here!
It is right outside the WW2 museum. We started with the spinach artichoke dip. I had the seafood poboy and my fiance had the nachos. Overall pretty good place to rest before heading back to the museum. The food was pretty good and so was the service.
Food and ambiance were top notch. Service was a bit slow. As in our drinks were empty from almost the time we received our food till done eating, before checked on.
Very fast, friendly, and efficient service. My wife had the BBQ Beef Brisket Po'boy, I had the Peach BBQ pulled pork Po'boy, both were excellent!
Friendly staff and great service. Food was good and the experience was wonderful. Highly recommend if you're in the museum.
Enjoyed our meal, the service, and atmosphere in this restaurant. Great place for a break during or after your museum visit.
OMG. OMG. OMG. This was pretty much my mouthwatering (okay, I was literally drooling) response to the food I savoured here. My traveling companion really wanted to fully explore the WWII Museum so we purchased the two day tickets (excellent value, by the way). That meant I was privileged with two days of meals at the WWII restaurant.
The WWII Museum restaurant features an excellent chef and a stellar food-service / wait staff team. This restaurant served the best oyster po-boy I have ever tasted (and I spent my high school years in south Louisiana). Brunch menu looked too good to choose from, so I asked for a recommendation from the server. Hopefully no one has video of me making silly yummy noises while eating the most amazing Crawfish Benedict. My mouth waters even now remembering the taste. Pavlov’s dogs had nothing on me, LOL.
If you go to NOLA, experience the restaurant at the National WWII Museum. It might even inspire you to visit the museum….
Inside the WWII museum. It's nice to stop and eat as the museum can take hours to navigate, days if you want to be extremely thorough. The food price was typical of the area, however taste and portions only so-so. My shrimp po-boy had stale bread and 6 pieces of undercooked shrimp for 17$. Server was nice, one assisting server was rude and acted put out.
My husband I were visiting the WWII museum and between our attractions, we had about 40 mins to grab a bite. We each got a few beers and 2 apps, since we didn't have too much time.
We split the gumbo and the spinach dip, and both were really delicious! The gumbo wasn't too spicy and had really good flavor. The atmosphere was great and servers attentive.
Food came fast, which we appreciated, and tasted great. I know they also do a brunch there, so maybe next time we will check that out.
We would def recommend if you are touring the museum or just wanting a tasty meal!
pretty good. a little pricey.
Ambience was amazing. Execution was a little poor. Had the All American, while my friend had the Five Star. Burger took FOREVER to come out. We ordered immediately and waited probably 20 minutes to get two burnt to a crisp burgers, and some inconsistently cooked fries. If you arent going to fill the plate, put the food on a smaller plate so customers aren't underwhelmed. That being said, the sweetness of the whiskey jam and brioche bun perfectly offset the saltiness of the burgers and fries. I really liked the flavors in the burger despite how overcooked it was but everything else was pretty disappointing.
Excellent food. Flavor Town, USA. Best gumbo I have ever had (although I am not a connoseur). Serving size (amount) was a little small, but flavor just popped! Quality, not quantity. The wife's spinach salad was a generous size serving and had excellent flavor. Super fresh, velvet soft spinach. Wait staff was excellent. Jay is a true professional and very helpful.
Very nice and clean place. Lots of staff around. The food was a little pricey in my opinion, but it did come out quickly. The French Dip Po Boy was delicious, as were the chips. The red, white, & blue burger was good, not great. It came with a side of mediocre fries. Nice, and quick staff, food was good but not wow good and not up to the par of the prices.
Extremely convenient location inside the WWII museum. Comfortable seating, with lots of space so it doesn’t feel crowded at all. Staff was very friendly. We had the gumbo and company b chili beans, they both were delicious but warning the chili has a very strong kick to it! Also the large bowl was quite large, I couldn’t finish it and should have just had a cup. Wish it came with a biscuit instead of saltine crackers. Prices were very reasonable considering it’s right inside the museum. Bathrooms were very clean!
It was a treat to find this restaurant attached to the National World War ll Museum. We were expecting a food court but ended up with something much better. The service here was a little lacking, but everyone was friendly. They had lots of good, classic Louisiana food done well. Worth your time if you're at the museum and willing to pay 12-15 dollars a plate.
The food was good, but a bit pricy for the value. It's a nice, relaxed, upscale atmosphere and attached to the WW2 museum.
A little pricey for what it is with decent food and so-so service. I'd recommend finding somewhere else close by if you've got a choice.
My wife and two daughters are here after spending the morning at the World War 2 Museum. Our server may have been having a rough day as she was not particularly interested to be helping us.
My daughter ordered a po boy with chips ($14) and I had the gumbo of the day ($12). Both were good but perhaps a little overpriced for what they were.
The hostess was incredibly nice and made sure greet us and then compliment my infant daughter as we left, so she certainly left a good impression on us.
Went in expecting typical, overpriced museum fare...we were delighted with the incredible food, wonderful service, and fair pricing! We would definitely eat here again! I had the steak. It was well prepared and tasty. The sauteed veggies and mashed potatoes rounded out a delicious and filling meal. My husband got a chicken sandwich and it was also quite tasty.
It was nice not to leave the museum when we needed to eat, to stay immersed in the WWII experience, and to not loose an extra museum time by travelling to an external restaurant.
Food and drinks are absolutely amazing and reasonably priced. Loaded Roast Beef Fries, Gumbo, Crab Cakes and a French Dip Sandwich.
Great food, the chef of this place must have some serious knowledge and experience to put these kinds of flavor profiles on the table. A absolute must try in the CBD area for some great tasting food.
Clean and friendly atmosphere. Food was somewhat pricey, with okay portions.
Kids enjoyed burgers, I was let down by a hard and crusty fried shrimp Poboy. Later I discovered it must have been old stale bread and very dry flavore and sandwich overall, as friends and family said it should be soft with light crisp outside. We tried the Poboy from Mandeville Seafood and my perspective on the infamous sandwich was restored.
If I had known what it was like I would have sent it back to the kitchen.
A great sector of the museum, I spent about half my time there. A real good representation for the home front. 🏡
Jessica was an amazing server and took great care of us the entire meal she was very attentive and even made great recommendations! She definitely added to our experience and made it that much more amazing.
After 6 hours of visiting exhibits we needed a break and this place hit the spot. Shrimp and grits were some of the best I've ever had. Will definitely be back. This is a very busy place so plan on 10-20 minute wait. Its worth it.
It’s a nice restaurant. Would I ever return? No. A lot of items our over priced for what it is. . We ordered a cheeseburger & shrimp poboy. The cheeseburger wasn’t anything special and was way overpriced. The shrimp poboy was actually pretty good. It’s different from what I’m used to but it was good. Still a little over priced.
Nice dining inside the WWII Museum. A bit pricey. Our waitress was very rude and unpleasant. Made the experience less than expected.
Loved the restaurant, food was above average, service and atmosphere was great, prices were average.
Delicious food is not what you expect at a museum restaurant, but that is what you will get here, along with great service!
Nice place, very good service, great food and drinks. In the WW2 Museum, no less. The Bomber Burger was tops.
Pretty good food, nice outside seating besides the people smoking on the sidewalk right by the dining area. Don't want to smell smoke while I'm eating. Ordered a burger, presentation was great including good bun, nice crisp lettuce, but...the patty was sub-par. They could do better than that.
Got to the museum late and had only 30 minutes to my beyond all boundaries movie, and the restaurant closed at 4pm so I thought it would be too late to order a burger but the waitress assured me I would have enough time and she was right! It arrived in about 15 minutes and plate was loaded with fries as well. I could have made a meal out of just the fries and the burger was good, and I was not shocked by the prices (hey it's a museum after all). For the quality and quantity of food I got, it was very reasonable in 2022. As far as the vax record check- get over it. It's a city ordinance. You show your card and all is good. What does it cost you? Nothing. Calm down folks, it's all good.
Went here after visiting the WWII museum. Great food 😋
Mediocre food but semi-captive audience prices with slow service. Not offered a soda refill although out before food arrived.
Decent prices and food. Stopped in for lunch after touring the museum. Screwed up my order twice though.
Great broccoli cheese soup snd a wonderful grilled cheese. Cute as can be decor, friendly staff. Just a bit pricey but worth it!!
Was expecting a cafeteria with hot dogs and deep fried fare. Pleasantly surprised.
Friendly staff, quick service, reasonable prices (especially considering the location) and amazing food.
What a great addition to the WW2 museum. Excellent service, food was just right.
We we're visiting local museums and stopped in for lunch. We sat at the bar. We we're rather impressed with the menu. Ordered Frito Pies and a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. Turned out to be the best lunch we had in New Orleans.
We stopped and ate here during the World War Ii museum tour. Found it to be extremely overpriced for what was served. Our waitress was nice. It was extremely cold everywhere in the museum, and the restaurant was no exception. I would recommend going somewhere else or being your own snacks
Really an amazing place to learn about the American experience during World War II. The soldier perspective to the home effort to support it all. It takes a day, at least and make sure to ask docents questions (they are amazing unlike many museums). Amazing place that needs all our support.
Yummy food and good prices. Unexpected find at a museum. Beignet fries, fritters and skillet pie were amazing!
The best wedge salad I’ve had in a while. At first, I was worried that it was drenched in sauce (usually not a fan) but the dressing is tasty so it worked really well. Proportions are awesome, every bite was tasty.
Service is great! Everyone is so kind.
Great place to have a good solid meal and nostalgic USO show feature Bob Hope!
Cheers! To WW2 Museums..
I was skeptical with it being attached to the museum. However they definitely proved me wrong. Great food and service. Definitely a reasonable price for what you get.
Food was average and over priced for what it was and what you got. Come-on $17 for a cheese burger. Then if you wanted to add bacon it was $3. Totally taking advantage of people at the WWII museum.
They got us right in to eat with minimal wait time. The prices are a little on the high side for what you get. Crab and corn soup had almost no meat in it. The patty melt was delicious. Fries were lukewarm and kind of soggy. We were excited to try the praline creme brulee but they had run out before we ordered at around 2pm. The shrimp poboys we're good as well. Overall not a bad experience while visiting the WWII museum but I wouldn't come back just for the food.
This restaurant is inside the WWII Museum. We each had a pulled pork sandwich with slaw and very tasty fries. The prices were a bit higher than we would have preferred, but it was a nice treat, and we enjoyed the flavors of what we ordered.
I expected expensive mediocre museum food. What I received was one of the better meals I've had in NOLA. No it's not cheap, but the quality is worth the time savings if you are here. I will happily return next time I visit.
Good food but the portions on the pasta was a little small
Was the most enlightening experience I have had, learned so much we spent hours learning and eating the food was amazing
Good was very good.
Bloody Mary had the right amount of bite.
Nice bar within the ww2 museum. Good burgers and the selection of drinks you can get is okay. Many people from the museum, don't expect a normal bar...
Great po' boy, good drink selection, and great desserts...try the Beignet Fries.
An underrated gem in an unexpected place, it lives up to New Orleans food expectations which is no mean feat for what is primarily a museum. It surpasses expectations in many ways. Make sure you make time for it during your visit to the museum!
I was expecting to make a vital organ donation, as is the case in most major attractions (Disney World, etc) when buying food. That wasn't the case at the WWII museum...they prefer the kidneys up front...It's a bit pricey to attend, but the restaurant is very reasonable. The food is very good and the wait time isn't bad. It was also nice being able to sit down for a bit.
Located within the National World War II Museum this was surprisingly a very good place to eat lunch. The museum is expansive and vast and it takes hours to go through all the exhibits so this is a great place to go in for a refreshing drink or lunch. The staff was great and friendly and the food was very well done for a museum restaurant. The only negative comment is that the restaurant hours are too short as they are from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Since the museum's soda shop is closed it makes it a tight timeline when you're going through the museum.
Quaint diner style eatery reminiscent of the 40's. Good food and drinks.
This restaurant is an amazing place to sit comfortably especially while waiting for the 4D movie. The food is great, as is the service, and it's kept very clean despite the amount of foot traffic it gets. My only desire for it would be to have a kids menu for smaller appetites.
Food was very tasty but very expensive. Very swanky for being inside the museum. They serve alcohol which I found odd but hey when I'm Rome ya know!! If you're hungry while I'm the museum you really don't have much of a choice. So RECOMMEND
Great food and very reasonable prices. My "Smokey Dog" was delicious and enough for two. Fries were hot and tasty as well. Don't miss this opportunity to rest your feet and feed your hunger after all the walking you're bound to do!
First the staff was so friendly, helpful and patient. We were a group of 8 and they gave us outstanding service. The atmosphere is cool and fun. We sat in the area at the large windows overlooking the street. Windows were open and I was worried about street noise but that was not a problem and we enjoyed the area. The food was great. I had the Victory Garden Salad and it was one of the best salads I have tried. My husband had the Frito Pie and he said it was delicious. Prices were reasonable. This is a definite stop in New Orleans.
Very good food and the service was excellent. Prices ok for being at a museum.
Slow service, good food, and the beinget straw appetizer is so much fun.
I like the place a lot.. but it's really hard to get service, it's pricy, it's limited and no one seems to care.
The food is amazing and the service was superb! We had the Catch of the Day, Chicken and Mushroom Lasagna, Shrimp and Grits, Creme Brulee, and the Burboun Pecan Pie!
I enjoyed my entire experience at The American Sector. The ordering process was fast. The food order was correct, and my salad was fresh and my grilled cheese sandwich with fries were hot and delicious. I was very satisfied with my time there.
The food was great. The only thing that was iffy was the server. He took a while, put all our food out first and we had a small table. Not exactly sure if it was him or the cooks are just really good at getting food out...but its ideal to wait to put the order in until it looks like we've had maybe a few minutes to our starters. All and all food was great, museum was perfect, and the server was very polite!
The Red Beans soups with rice in it was delicious! And the okra was very well done. The collard greens tasted different but still remained delicious like the rest of the meal. The taste was a bit more on the sweet side. Which was odd, but still worked.
I tried a bit of the Nola French Dip Po'Boy and that was delicious as well.
The only thing I personally didn't like from my dish was the corn bread. Although, this was the only part of the dish that was a split opinion between myself and the other table guests. They found the corn bread to taste good instead.
The food is delicious and the staff are outstanding! So much history here at the WW II Museum. This is a MUST see museum for everyone! There are so many artifacts, you'll never see them all. Many WW II HEROES are here to greet you and share their experiences! The most remarkable place to be!!!
My two biggest wants in a restaurant are food quality and service quality and in both cases the restaurant performed admirably. Serving size was not large, but adequate. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and highly recommend staying on-site during your visit to the WW II museum.
For a museum restaurant, this place was actually pretty good. We sat at the bar and went with light fare from the menu, enjoying a fantastic cup of baked potato soup and the awesome duck cracklins appetizer special. We also tried the Riveter's Pail of fried okra and hush puppies, but it was cold and bland. The cocktail selections were nice, and the bartender was friendly and attentive. Overall a great place to grab lunch when visiting the WWII museum.
Good place to grab a bit in between buildings of the museum. Especially since the ww2 museum is so large its in a perfect spot. I wish some of the food was better and refills were allowed. But for location and food. It's right where is needs to be.
On the positive side, the food was good and our waitress was very friendly.
However the receptionist at the front desk was very rude and made us feel unwelcome. She needs to learn to be more courteous to the customers.
Everything was Very Good! The Patty Melt was big enough to share, and the Spicy Bloody Mary was actually pretty spicy. Fantastic, Friendly Service and the whole place was very Clean and Bright.
Good place to stop when visiting the museum. Centrally located and good food. Had a salad and added black chicken, was nicely seasoned. Hubby had the wings with fries and enjoyed his meal. The staff was friendly enough and attentive.
The food was good, and I liked the bacon jam on the American burger. We sat at the bar, and the level of service was adequate. It's a fairly generic atmosphere. If you came to the restaurant not knowing anything about the adjoining museum, your curiosity to explore it would not be piqued over lunch. Considering how immersive the adjoining museum is I was expecting something thematic at lunch.
Maybe it's because we've been taking the kids to too many theme parks, but a WWII themed eatery attached to the WWII museum would be a great way to further immerse the captive audience in their experience. I'm not saying that the servers should be wearing combat fatigues, just that this place doesn't celebrate its connection to a fantastic museum.
Quick service given the number of people they are serving. Tables can get scarce when the movie ends. You order, they give you a number, you wait at the end of the bar and get your food. Good idea to have another person in your party grab a table. Expect captive pricing.
It was very good food I got chicken sandwich with was everything a chicken sandwich should be and the fries were nice and crunchy on the outside but nice and tender on the inside.
Food severely overpriced and greasy. It was fairly quick tho and servers were very nice. Cost right at $100 for family of 5. No other options in the museum unfortunately, I would suggest stepping down the road for lunch, then coming back to the museum.
I went for the first time today. I got the salmon BLT and my husband got the shrimp po' boy. Both were delicious. Our food came quickly, but the server was slow to bring us the check. This place has a nice ambience and food for a decent price ($12-16 sandwiches). I would recommend it.
We spent the day at the WWII Museum and the kids needed to eat. We were told by the hostess that the wait to be seated would be 15 minutes. We waited about 25 minutes, got inside, and noticed that half the tables were empty!?
We really just wanted a quick bite and now know this not the place to do it! Ordered burgers, well done. Received burgers cooked to medium, at best. I would have returned them, however, we had already spent too much time waiting for a table and then more time waiting for our meals, so we ate what we were served. We are a family of four. We spent $60 on four hamburgers (plus tax and tip)...gasp. Not worth the $$$$!
For those visiting the WWII Museum for the first time, like us. The only other restaurant we saw was the Soda Shop. The reviews were worse. My advise is to bring a sack lunch! It will save you valuable time and money.
It would be nice to have a food truck or two onsite!
Amazing food and staff, they made sure we were served in a timely manner so that we would make an appointment.
Lovley theme and wonderful food, whenever I visit this will be a regular stop.
Nice little sit down restaurant in the WWII museum, the theme is 1930's and 1940's. Food is good, drinks are unique. Staff are all friendly. Everything is clean and well lit. I have been here on several occasions and have enjoyed everything thoroughly.
Not a really large place. We arrived just as they were closing so could not get any hot food. But did have an overpriced premade salad. The pipes music was era proper and fun to listen to.
The burger was pretty good, but it was kind of pricey. The hostess was very nice, but our server was not very attentive and we sat waiting for a while. She only came over twice. Once to take our order and once when we called her over for a refill and the bill.
Located inside the WWII Museum. Grate food and very nice people here. Come learn some history and meet some of the Vets that were actually there!!!
Clean Well Prepared and Tasty
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked American Sector. I was hesitant to even suggest it, as I won't patronize any John Besh affiliate. But as of July 2019, that relationship ended.
Obviously the restaurant was well attended by the many tourists visiting the museum. But as a resident of New Orleans, I actually recommended to my out of town visitor to meet here for lunch.
I ordered the gumbo and oyster po'boy..and both were well above average. The oysters were crisply fried in corn meal, and very generous in the amount. It was a lot more like a delicious bahn mi!
And service was excellent.
While the Museum may be the reason why the restaurant was full...I'll bet more of us locals will make this a regular go to....plus!!! Prices were very reasonable..maybe even better than other more ambitious restaurants in the area.
Absolutely loved the museum - a must see! This restaurant did not meet the same standards. Service was slow and food was okay. The manager was impressive. She was working the tables better than my server. She asked questions and helped with any concerns. I was just hoping for more in a city of great food.
The food here is fine. Just that. Do the work to calm your hunger while in the museum.
The food is OK, but this is not a typical New Orleans restaurant. Much better choice than the soda shop also in the museum.
Excellent place for lunch. $$ food price
Wonderful cafe with older 40's era music in background. Great friendly staff. The shimp po boys are great and save room for the apple skillet pie! Oh my.
The food was good, not great. Prices are a couple more dollars than you'd expect ($15 for a cheeseburger), but it does go back to the museum. All in all I'd go to it again if I was visiting the museum campus, otherwise their are better places around the city.
The menu is a little limited, but all of their offerings are good. I especially recommend the Company B chili. The bar is really what shines though. They have a great selection of drinks that really go with the theme of the Museum.
When we visited this place it was only for the happy hour specials in spring break 2019. Great unique menu. We had duck cracklings and nachos and great cocktail drinks!
The WW2 museum is awesome and unwinding in the American Sector is a nice way to relax after a visit. The staff is friendly , the prices reasonable and after 5pm they offer several small plate appetizers that deliciously capture the local flair and flavors.
Where else can you be surrounded by our nations history while enjoying a plate of duck cracking with a delicious, lite but spicy sauce or fall off the bone, bbq ribs with sides of slaw and fine onion rings for just $5.
Also, several times a year, after 5pm, the museum hosts special presentations that are very well run, extremely informative and frequently free of charge if you sign up in advance.
Enjoy your time at the museum and in NOLA.
A bit of a mixed review.
The restaurant was lovely and the service was great, both the server and the manager that stopped by the table. The food was decently priced and tasted great, too. But. It did take us almost 45 minutes to get our food. And I did not actually get what I ordered, but ate it anyway because I was starving and did not want to wait any longer.
Tried their Shrimp Creole with Rice & found it to be satisfying & filling.
Nice dining option for a museum. Healthy options as well as classic American fare.
Love this place! Their bar bites are fantastic, prices reasonable, cocktail recipes are delicious and the staff are friendly. I've been 3 times and Naiyuma was my server each visit. She's great!
Delicious food and amazing cocktails. Everything at the world war two museum is world class.
Ate there both days I was at the museum. Soup was very good both days (homemade). Patty melt was also very good.
Service was a little slow, but food was of decent quality. Had the open-faced meatloaf sandwich with fries, which was pretty good. Sandwiches are a little pricier, but good if you don't want to leave the museum to get a bite to eat.
On a scale of burnt 1-10 mine was a 3. 0 is ideal. 1 acceptable. Was in hurry and had to eat dozen fries to get taste of burnt hamburger out of mouth. Told waitress to let them know cook need more training when paying and she just giggled at me. I give it 4 stars because she seemed happy, others might give this place a zero.
Hurricane was outstanding! Very strong. Brisket po boy with peach barbecue sauce was also fantastic! Great seasoned french fries
Only place in the WWII facility and they don't have an explicit kids menu. Cocktails were well prepared.
3 stars was a stretch. As great as the WW2 museum is, the restaurant was the opposite. We were part of a Diamond Tours bus group, with a prearranged dinner menu. The salad was passable, the entres were acceptable, the accompanying vegs were overcooked and tasteles, and the rolls were stale and hard.... and they brought out rolls 3 times. Service was okay. If I had the opportunity, I would be hard-pressed to go back.
Excellent service. My daughter was unsure about some of the condiments, as they were new to her. The server brought her samples and answered her questions. Very fresh food, lovely atmosphere.
The patty melt here is delicious. I would highly recommend trying it.
Ate here after visiting the WWII Museum. Had the smoky dog with chili cheese fries. Both were hot and tasty. Added an unsweet tea to complete lunch.
The restaurant was freezing, we had to be seated in the outer dining area for warmth. Or group of four had two burgers and two hotdogs. $10 for a hotdog and a small handful of chips is a little spendy, but they were decent. The chips were housemade and good. The burgers were black and hard and very dry, but the fries were decent. They brought my iced tea with a wedge of lemon without asking me if I wanted lemon. The Red White and Bleu Burger was supposed to come with a smoked strawberry aioli, but did not,vwe had to ask for it. And unfortunately, our server treated us more like we were interrupting his day, as if we were an after thought. All in all, I probably will choose to go elsewhere in the future
Wonderful restaurant in the WWII museum. We sat at the bar for lunch. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere and the shrimp po boy sandwiches. Highly recommend.
Two words: bottomless mimosas. They are the best in town for Sunday Brunch! I love that they closed in the courtyard area, that part of the dining room has a lovely ambiance to it. The crawfish benedict and debris fries were both delicious!
Food is just ok. They lost our order and we had to wait about 30 minutes to get our food. When we got it the food was hot and fresh. The staff was very apologetic.
Good food and drinks, quite tasty. Had a lot of empty tables but weren't seating people...maybe they were understaffed. Service was below average. Pricey, but what you would expect for a museum restaurant.
The hubby and I swung in before hitting the museum and started with cocktails (GI Punch and a miller lite). The beer was cold and the punch strong. Large glasses of water (bless my poor hungover heart). We started with roast beef fries (for us northern folk, poutine with chuck roast beef on it). Hubby got a chicken burrata which he plowed through and didnt say two words to me or offer a bite but said it was amazing. I had the shrimp po boy with a side of red beans and rice. The po boy was delicious, spicy, sadly no pickle but you could ask I'm sure. The red beans and rice weren't bad, but I didnt have anything to compare it t . Our waiter was attentive and so helpful. I would come here again next visit and take family.
Clean. Good appetizer. Quick courteous service. Fish entree was excellent, hamburger entree was very good. Good value for the $$. Partner found the air conditioning a bit too chilly.
While a tiny pricey (but expected at a tourist destination), the food was very bland. The fries tasted old and the burger a little charred. The service was quick but limited. I’d really like to see a couple more sandwich options.
My husband, son and I visited the American Sector during a visit to the National WWII Museum. When we arrived, the lunch crowd was in full swing, so we waited for about 15 minutes for some bar seats to become available. I had the Crab Ravigote Salad. I wish it had included more leafy greens, but was a good choice nonetheless. We also ordered two desserts to split between the three of us, but one dessert would have been enough.
The food is good, and the workers are nice!
Great service. I did not like my soup and waitress let me exchange it for the gumbo without charge. Thank you very much.
Great place for a quick bite. Very fast and a full service bar. Nice touch for the museum, which by the way, is awesome. Don't forget the movie. A must see!!!
I am stopping mid meal to type this review. The Chicken Fried Steak is all you need. Sered with greens with just a hint of sweetness and mac and cheese minus the overbearing sauce. A dash of hot sauce of you like. Come to the museum just to eat.
It's what youd expect to find attached to a national museum. Fairy limited menu of solid food options. Nothing to risky but def had local options as well. Good service and clean facility. Easy way to start or end your tour.
Pretty nice food for a museum. We sat at the counter and the bartender was polite + speedy. Just stick to the obvious strengths of the menu, remember that you're in a museum, and you'll have a great time.
It was ok, service was great, food was slightly better than average. I thought the burgers were a bit pricey. But overall, where else can you go and eat alongside WWII vets.
Had a delicious burger in the middle of our trip around the museum. Great service and atmosphere. Next time we're in town we'll definitely stop by again!
If you are spending a day at the WWII museum or attending a show at the Stage Door Canteen, this is a great place to have lunch. You'll be immerssed in in the era through the music and decor. Thanks to a recent rennovation, you can dine in a glass-enclosed atrium that offers the feel of eating outside, without the heat and humidity of New Orleans. The gumbo is great.
Excellent! The turkey club and the BBQ poboy were excellent. You place your order and get your drinks, and they bring the food to your table.
Located in the National WWII Museum, the American Sector cafe serves up some really great food. The service is fast and friendly.
Just had drinks. Great bartender reasonable prices.
We had a party of five and they gladley accomidated my friends scooter. The Monte Cristo and Ruben sandwiche's were a hit. They have a special menu for gluten free and vegiterians. I ordered the vegie cobb salad, when it came it had bacon and ham on it. They quickly made me a new salad. The service was a little slow, but I think that was the kitchen and bar staff. Our server was awesome.
Great food break while visiting the well museum.
The salad was rather small for the price, but tge double stack patty melt with fries made up for it as it was enough to share and really filling
Naima, you are absolutely amazing. I was having quite possibly one of the crappiest days of my life and I couldn't wait to get to the museum to start my shift. Thank you for all that you do for not only for the Museum, but us volunteers, and our guests. Just thank you for being awesome
Ok food but remarkably expensive.
Friendly staff, decent food. The prices were a little high for the food and drinks.
After the museum for most of the day we needed a rest and this was the perfect place to relax. We had a light bite to eat and tripped out on the bar lights on the counter top. A great experience overall!
Food was ok. Nothing special but its convenient if you are already in the museum.
This place has great food, drinks (a few adult refreshing kind also) to get you going through the rest of the exhibit
Ordered crab cake, I couldn't eat the crab cake because too much spice and very little crab. Should have been call a spice cake sandwich
Nice place to chillax whilst waiting for our flights back. Lovely bar tenders. Easy cocktails. And charging points everywhere!
Awesome place with some great food and drinks. Very good beers on tap, great items to look at whole you eat too. Sitting at the bar was a great choice!
Food was good . They some what rushed us because another group coming.
It is a nice, quiet, organized place to eat in the museum.
The 5-Star cheeseburger was quite tasty. Food came out hot and fast. Staff was extremely courteous. Would definitely eat here again.
The ambience was great, including the food. But, I do not recommend if you want a fast meal. There are other restaurants in the museum that you can visit that have faster service.
Food was decently good. But could have been better. Server was nice but seemed a little rushing. But considering how busy the place is. Its understandable.
Food was good (not great). Prices were inflated a bit but service certainly did not meet expectations. I would say either go in not expecting much (and ok with paying a premium) or find another option and go there.
Good food for a museum. Friendly service
Sit e the atrium area, super comfy chairs.
Very nice, the skillet fruit pie was spectacular, and can be shared by 2-3 people.
Quick stop for bite to eat at the WWII Museum in New Orleans.
Great food, great service.
Had the Rosemary Pork and gf had Wedge Salad with chicken. Both meals = fantastic. And server Alfred equally amazing. Recommended while at museum.
Very good fried chicken sandwich with fries 😋 hot potato soup. Good service. Convenient …
The food was amazing, with updated touches of creole. The atmosphere is comfortable and fit for casual or dressy. The price is moderate and wait time 15 minutes on a weekday at lunchtime.
Positive- tasty food and pleasing atmosphere. Negative- cold chili and all six "poached eggs" were more like hard boiled than poached.
Food and atmosphere MUCH better than many museum eateries
Pricey but not disappointing for the quality and quantity you receive
convenient for our visit to the World War II museum. Efficient and friendly service.
At museum, nice menu, great salads. Lovely staff.
Great restaurant with very friendly staff. Great food and drinks.
Counter service with deliveryto take. Convenient for a break while at the WWII museum. Huge portions, good drinks.
Food! place is moderately priced with super tasty food! The patty melt and pork poboy were excellent!
I was really surprised by just how good the food was. Who would've thought a restaurant at a museum would be so good. I'd go back just to eat there again when I'm back in town. Lol
Great seasoned fries, a little more pricey than I thought it should be, but we were happy with our choices.
My husband and I could not finish our food. The servers were so attentive and courteous. Actually the best meal we have had in the city so far.
Food was great. Service was great. A little expensive, guess that's relative.
Peach BBQ ribs were very good. The onion rings and blue cheese slaw that came with them were also very good.
Both of the people in our party had the French dip sandwich. Probably the best I ever had in my life. But it was quite expensive, even for museum fare.
Lots of food, great value for the money. Nice break spot in the museum tour.
Good food and friendly service at the bar. We split a burger that came out cut and already cut, which was greatly appreciated!
Very good. I had the shrimp and grits, Holy Roller IPA, bread pudding. Friendly waitstaff.
Very clean and well laid out. Awesome mac and cheese! Delicious greens! Friendly service. Would definitely come back.
It might be because of covid but more people at the registers would help. The line was super long and slow. The food was alright, nothing I'd get again.
Chef John Cairo made some excellent po boys! Highly recommend visiting. Chef John Cairo was rated amongst top 10 chefs in NoLa
My wife liked the Crawfish Fritters, I thought they were too doughy and didn't taste any crawfish. Nice little place though.
Got some veg and dips plus a crawfish salad. All tasty and service was friendly and fast too. Nice place.
Great dining at the National WWII Museum. Indoor or Patio dining. Good variety of food choices and beverages. Moderately priced.
We had gumbo (awesome) and burger n fries ( the best my son ever had, he said) Nice atmosphere.
Super Good we ate the half-price lunch deals we got the loaded cheesy fries and pulled pork sliders and ribs for less than 20 bucks small portions but it was amazing!
$$ it's in a museum, so it's gonna be pricey. Food tastes good though.
Loved it!! Best bloody Mary. Best crab soup. Awesome Po boy!!;
It was really good. Great food. Vegetarians beware not all meat ingredients are listed on the menu.
Great food and atmosphere. The service is horrible. No seemed like they wanted to serve me and when I finally got service, he wasn't friendly.
Do not miss the movie!
Good service average food
Every high schooler in America should come to the National WWII museum to learn that freedom isn't free and sometimes you have to fight for it and for those that can't.
Great place to eat while visiting the WW2 Museum. Fast service, good beer selection, drafts and bottles.
A really nice place. Nice servers and great views
Really good food. One of the hostess is smart mouth and acts like you do not belong. Otherwise really neat place.
Great place. Great staff. Reasonable prices. Wonderful food and drinks. Would love to go back for more.
Good place to eat while at the museum.
Pricey, and the smoked turkey was only ok, but the brisket poboy was PHENOMENAL.
Really good fried chicken sandwich. Good service.
The food was great and the server was attentive and friendly.
The food is very good! 😋 and comfortable to sit down and eat. They keep it very clean. …
Very nice cafe, part of the WWII museum. Their salads are wonderful and the other food looked very good.
Good food. Great staff very polite. Service with a smile.
Great "adult" grilled cheese. Double decker with three different cheeses and grilled to perfection.
The place was charming. Chicken sandwich was pretty good but I didn't care for the meatloaf.
The service and food was great! This is definitely a place to visit whether you're a local or visiting from somewhere else.
Very good food. Limited menu but that is good because service was fast.
Service was a little slow. The food was okay. The only reason to go is if you are at the World War II Museum with limited choices for food.
Good food and great service
Good place to grab a quick meal, especially now when many nearby restaurants are closed because of Corona.
Good food excellent service. Decent prices. Family of 3 ate for $70 with a beer.
Great place to chill while listening to WWII era music. Interesting craft cocktails. Great happy hour.
Great food and atmosphere. Servers were very accommodating with our toddler.
As my kids observed, “not a typical museum cafe.” Be sure to try the gravy fries!
Great meal. Eat before you go to the WWII Museum.
Fancy and good food, except the fact there was SAND IN MY SALAD
Loved the museum. However the food was overpriced for the quality.
Very nice food.. Loved it as they had happy hour too x
Food was ok, very very pricey. Would eat before you go.
Food is fine. Not any more expensive than other places around.
Good food, good service and reasonable prices.
Me and my mom had dessert here after seeing all of the exhibits. I reccomend the membership.
Good food. Great atmosphere. Decently priced for a museum restaurant. The museum is awesome.
Food is pretty good $15 for a burger and fries. Service could have been better.
Good food, a little pricey but that come with the area.
This is a must do on your next visit. Just what ever you do get the weekend pass and Don't expect to look at everything in one day because it's just that huge
Good burgers. Good service. Better than typical museum cafe fare.
Burger was good, service was fast. Not a bad choice if you are at the museum
Didn't eat here.
Get the pulled pork sandwich. So yummy.
Great food but no crabcakes.
The All American Burger was classic and tasty.
Very good quality food but need additional people in the bar area
Was good food, bit of a wait but the service was great for the time of day.
WONDERFUL young lady served us. Food was again very good and not over priced.
It was definitely worth the wait food was delicious
Show was great, but the food was way too salty. Service was slow.
Good👍🏿
Loved this place. Went here on for the 75th annviersy of DDay and the service was very good. Place was well kept.
Great museum. I am proud to make donations to them.
Great lounge inside the WW II Museum!
The gumbo here at this Resturant is probably the best i have ever had was amazing. Service was very good too
Nice restaurant inside the WWII Museum.
Good food and service was a little slow but will go back next time I'm in town
Meat was raw inside...
Mac n cheese was Awesome & WWII history theme is great ambiance
Helpful staff. Very limited menu. Part of our experience. All good.
Wonderful place to get a drink and snack before or after museum
Food was delicious! Servers very nice.
Easy fun place to eat when visiting the WWII Museum.
A little on the pricey side but actually very delicious and excellent excellent service from a Face with a smile
Service was great, menu options were limited and kind of weird as well as being a bit pricey.
Decent burger. Went on Museum Day and it wasn't even a long wait.
Loved the ambiance! Food was really quite good as well.
The gumbo is awesome but really heavy. Thedrinks are great but over priced.
Have had several nice meals there. Highly recommended
Food was ok. Staff was really nice. Not bad for a tourist spot
The portion size was way too small on the cobb salad for what it cost. Didn't taste bad though.
One of the best hamburgers I've ever had in my life. I was pleasantly surprised.
Good food for where it is but the bar staff could do with some retraining in how to smile
Good food, fun cocktails, reasonable prices, GREAT music!
Delicious. Quick. Sit in the theater for a 10 minute presentation.
Food was good and reasonable priced! I was expecting a bit of gauging but was surprised.
Nice view of the city. Convenient inside the World War II Museum. Good service, but a bit expensive.
Nice ,above my expectations! Good food service! Great ambiance
The bar service is awesome, friendly just be patient because there's only 2 of them.
Service was slow and inattentive, but they were friendly. Good coffee and dessert!
The chicken and waffles were amazing and so we're the beignets!
Other than it being extremely cold in the restaurant l, the food and service was amazing
Good food great dessert
Very nice staff but burgers were undercooked
Friendly wait staff
Really good food at what I consider very reasonable prices
Had Belle burger and fries. I liked the food and atmosphere.
Food was good, staff was just as friendly.
Great service, nice atmosphere, very lackluster food.
Delicious! Friendly wait staff, french toast was so good!
Amazing atmosphere and delicious food. Service was excellent.

Food is good and the wait staff is so friendly.
Easy place to eat and take a break from the amazing museum. Plenty of options.
Very good lunch and device.
generally bad food, except shrimp poboy. The bread was crisp.
Great place to eat while visiting the WWII museum
Nice
Begniet fries are excellent!
Food was good, service could have been quicker
People are very nice and approachable.
Excellent staff, serviceable menu, a bit overpriced.
Shrimp Po Boy was delicious!!! Drinks were ok...
Gumbo was good, service was horrible.
EXCELLENT service and food in an amazing Museum. Everyone should come to visit
Somewhat better than the usual museum restaurant.
Fantastic oyster salad, great gumbo, and wedge salad a great choice as well.
We walked off a bus and said this place looks good and it sure was!
Beautiful place great drinks!
Great place. Very informative. Family like the interactive learning displaces.
Best happy hour in the city. Definitely a hidden gem.
