Reviews of Phở Tầu Bay Restaurant
The beef stew and the chicken entree was excellent. We also ordered the Pao nam (beef well done). The broth was a bit bland and the meat was rubbery. It wasn't bad but not as good as the beef stew. The service was nice and the view from the windowside is great.
After staying in NOLA for the weekend, we wanted to get some pho because we were craving something warm and hearty. The pho was simple and delicious. The spring rolls were also delicious and hit the spot. Everyone was super nice and helpful at the restaurant. Def recommend for people to visit!
I needed a pho fix after a week of eating delicious Southern food and this place hit the mark. It's all about the broth, right? This place definitely has delicious broth with great aromatics and that silky bone broth feel. Service was friendly and quick. Serving size was good. I just wish that tripe could have been available. The owner (Ken?) explained that there wasn't much demand for it in this location and he didn't want to compromise with frozen tripe. There are pho-ing standards!
Came here during our Nola visit after a recommendation from a food writer. Did not disappoint! The bún bò Huế was perfect, with chewy thick rice noodles. I was happy they had a salty plum beverage! Service was fast and friendly.
Pho was good, nothing super special about it, not a lot of brisket, one of them was entirely fat, and a little overpriced.
Tasty Vietnamese Food near the Tulane Medical School.
I got CM 1- Com Ga Roti, and it was delicious!
Delicious food, get a signature dish that comes with their House special honey mustard sauce! You won't regret it.
I so wanted to like this place because I miss good Vietnamese food. Unfortunately, on my visit at lunch, the food was lacking. The folks working were wonderful, though. I felt very appreciated as a customer.
I ordered the BUN CHA GIO THIT NUONG. The Imperial rolls were fried in a rancid tasting oil. And the wrapping was heavy, not light & crispy. The grilled pork had a good flavor, but was served at room temperature and was chewy and dry. I took most of the food home with me, and when I reheated the pork, it was moist and had a good texture. There were only a few cilantro leaves in the salad. No mint, basil, or jalapeno. I particularly missed the fresh aspect of herbs that I so associate with Vietnamese food from Hanoi. I hope they can improve the quality of the preparation. The ingredients were certainly fresh and tasty.
First, let me start off by saying the owner Karl and his wife was very welcoming and nice! My wife and I were in New Orleans for a short weekend trip staying in the French Quarters and decided after a couple of days of fried seafood, gumbo, crawfish, beignets and many other well delicous foods we decided to try this vietnamese place out. This is self service restaurant not full service but in a sense it felt like full service because the owners and workers kept asking us how we were doing and checking in to see how the food was. The inside decor is very modern and comfy. I like how the seatings are set up. The restaurant is next to one of the best teaching hospitals in the United States. Hence, not full service and the seats being set up in a way to accommodate rush hour. I live on the outskirts of Boston and eat all types of asian foods regularly. This place made me felt like I was back home. The pho and shrimp & pork spring rolls was delicious. To my surprise, their bun thi nuong (rice vermicelli with charred pork) with egg rolls was amazing. These three dishes felt like it was made specially to the way we liked even though we made no side requests. Again, this is not full service so no tip is required but you should tip if you think they're is doing a great job. We talked to Karl and his wife and they shared their life experiences and how the restaurant came to be here today. We learned a lot about the restaurant and the history behind it. It was a special moment we won't forget. This place is above a 5 stars but that's all I'm permitted to give. Thanks Pho Tau Bay for the delicious foods and experience! When we're back in town, there's no question this is on our top place to eat! Forgot to add one thing, the prices here is not expensive at all. It won't break the bank. We paid under $30 for an appetizer and two entrees.
So good it was my first time trying this place and the venue was a little intimidating it’s not as cozy but they food set this place over the edge. A bowl of broth that came with my rice dish was soooooo gooooood omg. You have to order up front but they bring your tray to your table. The meal was fire.
This is my most favorite place IN THE WORLD to eat at! At one point, I had take out waaay too much. They knew my voice on the phone and My order every time. They aren’t on the WB anymore. Their location can be a bummer sometimes, and I wish they had longer hours. Their food is so good though. They can be open whenever they damn well please!! Lol. I love you guys! I’ve been going to you for over 15 YEARS!! The food and service is always amazing. Family owned and operated. No other Vietnamese restaurant can touch you guys! The food is always fresh, hot, and right! Kudos!! You guys are the best!!
Love, CM5 no tomatoes or onions extra sauce!!
I don’t think anything makes me happier than a bowl of noodles. Delicious broth coating perfect noodles. And if anyone knows about the Vietnamese iced coffee here, they are a very satisfied person. This was a familiar experience on our unfamiliar food journey through New Orleans. If you need a day of Asian comfort food to break up the Creolefest, do it here. The staff is also SUPER friendly.
Omg! This is the unPHOgettable place for the Vietnamese food. I have had Vietnamese before and was really hunting place close to work and affordable for a good lunch. They have served the best pho i have had. Going with the details the broth and noodles were perfectly cooked. The quantity of chicken in my dish was just about perfect for lunch (unless you wanna eat so much that you feel sleepy at work ❌). The noodles were easily separatable and sprouts were well served. The chicken sandwich was made to perfect. I would recommend baking the bread to be a little more soft, not too much but just a little more than what it is now. 10/10 for the customer service and politeness of the staff. The ambience was nicely lit up and it was good to see long high table. I am going to take my colleagues here and let them take their families too. It's a really good food place.
I give 3 stars for services and clean area. Bò Kho ( beef stew) is the worst. Broth so salty, I squeeze 4 pieces of lime and you can feel the salty from the broth. No Bò Kho flavors and yes 5 pieces of beef in my bowl. I am assuming during pandemic and beef shortages in NOLA? 👎👎👎 …
This place is the best! From the food to the service to the cleanliness of the facility. It’s so good! The meal pictured is my fave (MX 1). I get it with chicken and shrimp instead of all seafood. So good!
LOVED our dinner here. Had the Mien Ga and Bun Ga Nuong Cha Gio — also got the lemon grass beef spring rolls. Never expected to get Vietnamese as good as my favorite place at home while on vacation! The staff was also amazing and hooked us up with extra containers so we could eat soup in our hotel.
Incredible. Amazing.
I heard about this place from a YouTube video with Emeril Lagasse talking about his favorite restaurants in the city. Our trip was almost six months ago and we still talk about how good this place was.
Delicious fresh very open and friendly environment clean restaurant smells like authentic Vietnamese as soon as you walk in five stars all the way. My first meal off the plane in New Orleans the spot. 100% satisfied 🐒👌🏼 …
Delicious pho shop near Tulane Medical Center. Went on a Wednesday night and it was busy but still spacious and quiet. Clean place with really good service. The ingredients are fresh and tasty!
Tasty Pho broth, fresh Banh Mi, and well seasoned and cooked chicken in Bun. Only reason I gave 4 stars is noise level and slightly overdone noodles in Bun.
Quick delicious meal
Authentic flavor
Very beefy
I have been going to Pho Tau Bay since 2001, but this was the first time I visited this location. The space is very clean and open and the VG3 is just as good as I remembered it!! Several vegan options are available and everyone working here is so sweet.
Always top notch! I’ve been going here for years and every time I go the quality is always excellent. Love the vermicelli bowls with all my heart. Get some peanut sauce on the side. You won’t be disappointed. The Vietnamese coffee is also extremely yummy!
Food was excellent. I haven’t tried Vietnamese food in Vietnam, but I have tried quite a bit of it in different countries. Spoke to the owner for those of you wondering, he was born in Vietnam and it is his first language (despite the fact that he doesn’t look Vietnamese). This started as a family business and the menu hasn’t changed in 4 decades. It’s a simple and unpretentious place but the food is excellent, authentic and fair prices to match. You’ll see medical students and other healthcare professionals here because it is right next to Tulane University and medical center. This is a local joint, definitely recommend!
This place is delicious! I ordered through Ubereats, and it hit the spot. The food came timely, the portions were just right, and the price was on par. They have a pretty decent viet menu. The spring rolls were very good and filled with fresh herbs. My main dish was the soy/garlic tofu with white rice and side salad. The side salad’s dressing was very good. The tofu was filled with flavor. I’m pretty sure the entire time I was eating I said mmm.
Excellent broth with very nice noodles and meat. The authentic Vietnamese drip coffee was delicious as well.
Broth wasn't flavorful. Spring rolls were good. Also its self serve.
I have to rank this pho second to last among the dozen of pho restaurants that I have visited. This pho does not taste traditional at all. It missed so much flavor unfortunately.
Pho Tau Bay is clean and has a nice vibe. I would eat here again, just wouldn't order the Pho Nam again.
Friendly staff and clean environment, but the pho lacks meat in it. I ordered large pho with combo meat which was delicious but expected little better comparing to other places.
Delicious food, nice atmosphere, but only willing to give bare minimum on condiments such as hot sauce and even napkins
This was the best Vietnamese food we have ever had! There were many items on the menu we had not seen before back home near Baltimore, MD, and the use of rice noodles in many dishes made this a wonderful place for a gluten-sensitive person for me to eat. They even had wonderful flan, a GF dessert I can eat. My husband, who can eat anything, also loved his meal.
Very casual but high quality food. Best pho I have ever tasted. Not very much oil at all in the broth but very tasty and savory.
My favorite Pho restaurant in the whole area around Lake Pontchartrain. best Wonton soup I have ever had. Give them a try, you won't regret going. and like me you will probably become a regular to this fantastic place to fill your belly with warm goodness. Be sure and try some of the homemade desserts as well. OMG!
I ordered the CM7 and the BM2. The bahn mi took some time to arrive, but the pork came out fairly quickly. Wasn’t really impressed with the amount of food for the pork rice plate. Would like some more veggies. The pho broth came with the plate, was glad I didn’t order that… The bahn mi was quite nice. Overall the flavor profile was more Americanized, which made sense given the proximity to the hospital.
Best Vietnamese food I've had. Friendly helpful staff. Amazing pho and Bahn mi.
Travelled from NYC to NOLA for a work event and had to get a break from all of the local food. I was weighing my options but ultimately decided to eat at Pho Tau Bay. I’m so glad I did. Don’t let the order at the front fool you. This pho is legit.
The staff is truly friendly and the restaurant is clean! I recommend to all.
Mein ga is my new jam over here. It's only open on week day cause that's how badass they are. This photo is all that remains of my meal. Enjoy
Wow I really enjoy this place. I went with my family, the soup was really good, I don’t recommend the bread ban mhi. But good experience. They have options for vegetarians.
Loved the place. Not a bust place from what I saw. The staff members are really helpful and courteous. A place that I would visit more and more. The food is delicious and the portion sizes are spot on. Loved the tangy and sweet nature. Highly recommended m
Still perfection after all these years. Pho Tau Bay was my first experience with Vietnamese food, many years ago when they had a west bank location. Their food is unique, delicious, fresh, and fast. Its family owned, which makes it even better. I prefer this spot to every other Vietnamese place on the East Bank.
They are also following COVID-19 protocols very well and I felt safe dining in. A+
First time I tried vietnamese food and it was very tasty.
Some of the best I've had. The food was amazing. The service was incredible. The cashier was so kind and was so helpful in trying to find solutions to our contactless payment issues we were having. Even offering to let us pay her on cashapp so we could pay for it through her card.
They served the food very fast and accurate to order. They also allowed us plenty of time to dine before asking if we needed boxes. The server even boxed our food for us and in the most clean and secure manner. No spillage. No knot that couldn't be undone. There was no broth in my backseat when I got home. I'm amazed.
Thank you pho tau bay
My go to place for Pho.
Great taste. Prices are 10% higher than the suburbs b/c you are paying for the location. Plus, you also need to factor in street parking meters.
Overall, the food is really good from the broth (pho) to the pork. However, they ran out of grilled pork chops at 11am (either the truck never came in or it wasn't prepped yet). The space is clean, updated -- not dingy like the typical old school Vietnamese restaurant. Uniquely, they had a spicy-bean flavored condiment which was pretty fantastic, and they had a Vietnamese ice tea machine -- pretty great idea.
Overall, a four or five star rating. Good stuff -- especially for downtown.
The food was delicious and incredibly reasonably priced. I went with my family visiting in town and we were able to find a table easily and the food came out fast. The location is also a plus with ample parking and it being located not too far from the French Quarter or CBD. I would highly recommend this place for great Vietnamese food and fast service at a very affordable price. Try any of the Bahn Hoi dishes with the added wrapping papers for making your own spring rolls which is very fun and engaging. I also LOVED the Bo Kho # 1!!
Was great when they were on the west bank, and even better now that they're closer by. Used to always vote for this place when I worked downtown. Will always be one of the best casual lunch pho spots on the east bank.
Absolutely amazing. The pho broth was perfect. The spring rolls are flawless and the peanut sauce is from another world. The flavor or the sauce and serving it warm it excellent! The generous portions were perfect for leftovers too.
This is a really nice Vietnamese restaurant with a great reputation. Near Tulane medical center. The Pho broth is delicious and clear. Noodles are excellent, nice and chewy. The bun bo Hue is spicy just right. Only issue is that the extra large order is just about medium or standard elsewhere
This was my first Pho experience in New Orleans and what a great one it was. The broth to the Pho, beef or chicken, is simple but very deep. Everything is proportioned perfectly. I always get the shrimp rolls too: they are so refreshing and addictive! Great service as well. Make it a regular lunch stop. You’ll thank me.
Quality Vietnamese food at a good price. Hearty portions and a great range. This customer is a fan of the vermicelli plates, particularly with egg rolls.
The West Bank location was excellent, and I was sad to see it close, but as I live in the city, I welcomed this opening. The decor has been updated and is very clean, crisp, and relaxing. Check it out!
Food was delicious. One of us ordered soup and it had a little too much fish sauce but otherwise very delicious. We will be going again before our visit is up
No doubt, best pho of my life. Ordered the beef stew and pork spring rolls... also the best pork spring rolls of my life. No joke/ I am ruined... Don’t sleep on this spot. Go get some. Down one star only because of the need to Request no plastic cup for water at time of ordering or they will bring it whether you want it or not. At least it did not have a straw :-) well done on the food, my goodness!!!! So yummy!
This was my first vietnamese resturant and the staff there spoiled me for almost a year. I really felt like family when I came here. Best food ever! I did not have a bad meal here ever, even though pho is not my forte. I tried almost all of their pork meals and they were all amazing. I now compare every vietnamese resturant to this one. If I could give more then 5 stars I would.
One of the best places to get lunch when you work downtown! I love their tofu bahn mi. The Vietnamese coffee is also great when you want something sweet. It's gets busy at lunch time but I never feel like I have to wait very long for my order.
This was my first visit to the restaurant and I ordered food to go. I had the Bun Bo Hue soup which was spicy with meat and noodles. It was really tasty. The shrimp chips were lightly salted and delicious. I took a menu so that I can get something different everytime I visit.
I eat here almost weekly since I work at Tulane and I’ve never been disappointed. The food is always fresh, the staff is always friendly, and the place is super clean (including the restrooms)! Their pho is my favorite in the city and their vermicelli patties are to die for! Check them out if you’re in the neighborhood!
Best Vietnamese food! I've never been disappointed.
This place is fantastic and the spring rolls are made to order.
(as of 11/23/2020) - The pho dac biet was warm and the broth was flavorful. This is a great place to order take out (due to covid) and eat it in the car on a cold night. You can even split one serving into 2 portions that would keep both people decent for a few hours. Definitely a worthwhile place. The price is decent. The time to make and pack it for pickup was quick. Recommended if you're looking for a fair priced, good warm meal on a cold night on the go :)
This place is solid. The prices are a bit higher now that they are on the east bank, but the restaurant is nicer.
I had the tofu vermicelli this go around and it was enjoyable. The coffee, also hit the spot, and my friend enjoyed her pho.
I'm only taking a star off because it's harder to pay more for pho in a city full of it. Especially when you have to pay for street parking.
Best Vietnamese place in the city. The chicken noodle soup is incredible, the tea is always fresh and the staff are friendly courteous and professional. The Establishment has been around for 30 years and you can see why when you walk in the door. Glad to make this a local hang out of mine.
I like this Americanize idea how they run this place unlike most tradition Vietnamese restaurant. You wait in line, order at cashier, pay, get your #, find your good spot and wait just like you going to an American fast food joint. This is good for fast in and out without having to wait to get your bill. Although they seems to make less tips this way as I don't see much people tips for waiter. My rating reflects to the chef and cashier, I cashier wasn't rude to me but could of improve a bit with a happy welcoming face as her face didn't feel happy at all. But it's all comes down to the food quality. I read the reviews, told myself not to try base on the negative reviews from many those of us traditional Vietnamese. But I end up gave them a chance! The Pho was indeed lack of flavor and very salty, I was only able to sip the soup less than 10 spoons. I ordered Large Special #7, this seems to be pretty much Pho in american style! The meat, cut and slicing are way different, by looking at the photos of the worker there. I'm 100% sure the chef is not Vietnamese. I would definitely come back for that different taste if they improve on the soup and less salty, as some likes to use chilly and hoisin sauce which do has salt in it make it even saltier. NOTE! Those of you real Asian and dining with your older generation! Do not dine here! You'll be disappointed.
I'm not generally one to write long reviews, so this comes from my heart.
I prefer to work through lunch everyday. But Pho Tau Bay's vegetarian pho made me pause and eat in silence. It is that amazing. The mushroom based stock, the fried tofu and the jalapeños made me want New Orleans to have a cold winter just so I could eat this inside a blanket!
I ABSOLUTELY love Pho Tau Bay's fresh and delicious Vietnamese cuisine! And I ADORE the family and staff❤ My alltime fav is the combination Pho and the fried rice. Honestly, the "entire" menu is amazing! I LOVE VIETNAMESE CUISINE❤❤
They've been doing delicious, affordable Vietnamese food for several decades. Take it from a regular: the quality is consistent and the staff is always friendly. There are several vegan options available too, if you ask Laura or Carl.
Update - I finally got around to giving this place 5 stars. I've been back several times since my original review and the service, and food, have been top notch. I've also had a chance to try their Goi Ga (a chicken cabbage salad) that is really delicious with the grilled chicken. If you come here for lunch I recommend getting a fountain drink and filling up the cup with their jasmine tea - I can't get enough.
Original Review:
I'm really torn on reviewing this place. I went for a late lunch on a Friday with a group of four people. I got the beef pho combo and it arrived very quickly but my friends got various bun dishes and while one friend got his within 10 minutes my other two friends had to wait almost a half hour - and that included reminding the servers twice of our order. It just doesn't make sense for the service to be so indifferent.
That being said the food is tasty - the pho is easily top 3 in this city - and the price point is great. I can see myself coming back here but doing takeout instead of dining in. There's just no way to justify a half hour wait especially if you're popping in for a quick lunch.
Omg best vietnamese style food I've ever had!!! The stew broths are amazing! Get the meatball supplement! I can only say I wish I knew about this place sooner!
Great place for Pho and Vietnamese food. The owners were very friendly and I loved the atmosphere and, best of all the coffee! Definitely on my list of places to visit in New Orleans!
Food was great with a nice menu selection. Seafood soup was tasty and fresh. Down side is that there's no parking lot for the restaurant and if you don't get lucky and get a meter spot on the street, you have to pay in a parking lot. Inside the place it's a cafe style restaurant with plenty of bar stools at a long table with a few separate tables and chairs as well. Found out the hard way that there's no wait staff to take your order meaning you get a menu and place your own order near the kitchen at a register. There was a guy that came to the tables to clear items but not for orders. Overall was a decent place better suited for lunch if you're job is walking distance.
It was ok. I have definitely had a better bowl of pho. I ordered the shrimp pho in beef broth. I had to ask if they gave me chicken broth when it was presented to me. I wish the broth was more flavorful. I'll have to try something else next time I visit.
Food was fresh and delicious! Staff was very friendly.
Wonderful food, good prices, and friendly staff in an attractive restaurant. The Vietnamese po-boys and spring rolls were delicious. You can't go wrong with Pho Tau Bay.
We used to frequent this place when they were located across the river so when we heard they were moving premises and setting up shop a few blocks from our offices it was like our dreams had come true!
We’ve heard that the pho takes 8 hours to make and the recipe is highly guarded, we definitely believe that! I’m not usually one for offal but I’ve got to admit that the beef with beef tripe pho is out of this world! Summer rolls with bbq pork, lettuce, carrots and rice noodles are amazing, too!
When Emeril Lagasse says this is his favorite restaurant, that gets my attention. I've only been once so far but had a great Pho Ga which was a big serving and a low price. Fantastic atmosphere too. Highly recommend.
VERY delicious pho! The broth is light and silky. We also had the Banh Mi Pate Thit and it was delicious and very well balanced. Service was great and the food came out very quickly!
Good food, great atmosphere good service highly recommend✌️
Food and service was amazing just wish we got more noodles with our PHO..
Walk up to order and pay at the counter, they will give you a number and bring you your food.
The bun bo hue is amazing! The broth is rich, not too spicy and the noodles are perfectly cooked. They don't add pork blood like it usual has but I personally didn't mind.
They do deliver through UberEats.
If you are looking for a Real Deal,Vietnamese cuisine GO TO PHO TAU BAY, we found this through a food vlogger in youtube and was visited by a famouse Chief(s) like Anthony Bourdain and some others.
Pho, Banh mi is top notched and rice platter! We went here for Dinner&Lunch!
Owners are awesome people, you’ll see them serving customers. Very Clean, top quality, good Ambience, Comfort food for me being a Filipino And Service is AWESOME!!!!
100% recommended for LOCALS, Tourist and for all Asians👌👍🙌
Pho Tau Bay (pronounced Fuh Tuh Bye) has been a staple in Greater New Orleans for over a quarter century. It was the first, and still the best, Vietnamese restaurant in the city. Pre-Katrina, it was three restaurants strong, but has down-sized since to only the one on Tulane. The owners (three generations of them) will be on site everyday making sure the food is as good as it's always been.
The price is right and the food is great - and this is coming from a (culinarily speaking) unadventurous My-Janh - I think that's Vietnamese for Caucasian American. I love their po-boys, combo fried rice, and vermicelli salad bowls, as well as everything else I've ever tasted - except the dishes with fish sauce (it's just not my thing).
In the name of objectivity, I would like to offer a criticism, but none come to mind - except, I guess, I'm not terribly big on their peanut sauce. I think they add hoisin, which is ok, but I prefer unadulterated peanut sauce.
If you like Vietnamese food, you'll love it.
Delicious Vietnamese food. Relatively quick given I went at lunch time and it was busy. You order and pay at the register but a waitress does bring your food to the table. Definitely will be back!
Very good pho and fried rice 👌🏼
As a fellow Asian I recommend
The egg rolls, fried rice and the beef meal with white rice were all excellent. The pho tasted like meme made it. Follow and like the Tombstone Critic and Clements Lawn Service. Be prepared to find a place on the street to park.
Went back for the first time at the new location after waiting for what seemed like forever for our favorite Vietnamese spot to reopen. Folks. NOTHING has changed, which is amazing. Was so happy that the owners remembered us and what we do and where we worked. Pho Tau Bay is family.
I love the simple and quiet setting. The Vietnamese food is really good and satisfying. Price is fair to high. Courteous Staff Service and clean restrooms.
Very good. Cheap, fast, clean. Polite staff. Great Pho. Will go back when back in town.
Edit: I'm back in town and I'm back here. Absolute fantastic cold noodle dish. Will be back again!
Good food but carefull with the parking lot close by, paid 100$ for 10 min.
Solid Vietnamese food. I'm a carnivore but I really loved the veggie pho broth. Service was fast and the shop is clean, but it can get busy during the lunch rush.
Awesome food. Healthy and good value. Love the beef stew with carrots, try it with rice instead of noodles!
Not the best pho in the area but its decent. The broth has a good taste to it but their very skimpy on the meat and they use msg (nothing necessarily wrong with that but I prefer not to eat it).
We go to Pho Tau Bay at least once a week at my office! And we love it!! But we learned today, 2/4/15, that the restaurant will be closing! The last day is 2/14/15. They are supposed to be re-opening in it's original location on Tulane Ave some time in May/June. Sure wish they would leave this location open! We'll miss you on the Westbank Pho Tau Bay!!!
nice to have it back..unfortunately not the same quality as before...portions are smaller than most other vietnamese restaurants in the city and pricier as well. Bowl of vermicelli and an ice tea cost nearly 15$. Unlike every other vietnamese restaurant in the city, they don't provide individual bottles of sriracha or fish sauce, rather you pump it out of a ketchup dispenser..I go out of convenience, but could be improved.
I got the noodle bowl with the lemongrass beef and chargrilled pork and it was delicious
Yummy food and great salads.
One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the city. My go to is always the beef stew with french bread. Its delicious.
It was our first time trying Pho and it was better than good, and lets not forget to mention those spring rolls. AMAZING FOOD
How can this restaurant only have 4 stars?? Pho Tau Bay is probably the best Vietnamese in the whole New Orleans area. It is legendary. They had 3 locations before the storm, but now they're down to just 1 on the West Bank. As it stands, it's the only good reason to ever go to the West Bank. Try the Pho Xao Chay (VG 6) and you will wish that in your afterlife, you can do nothing but consume it forever for eternity. They also have some extremely affordable options, like their Vietnamese po-boys which are less than $5 I'm pretty sure.
Everything was delicious. The fried rice was amazing! Spring rolls amazing. The beef noodle soup was ok but still finished it!
I don't know where the people who wrote this bad review came from but it
must be from another planet. I served in Vietnam 1965-66.
The food at Pho Tau Bay is authentic. I ate many a meal in Saigon and
this is the closest, actually better than the food in Saigon. We moved
from New Orleans to Destin Florida and my wife and I still crave the
Pho at Carl's. There is a long story behind the owner and his family who
escaped from Vietnam to resettle in New Orleans. The decor is plain as
most Pho restaurants are as the emphasis is on good food at a good
price, and thats alot of food. If you order the wrong item shame on you!
This is a Pho restaurant and soup is KING! I served forty years as an
Army helicopter pilot and you can believe me when I say,"try it you'll
like it".
Un worthy of 5 stars this place deserves 34 stars , blows the review game out of the water. Play is bahn mi po boy in my coffin dank. Swear I’d put this place for bites over a lot in my life, couple of kids included.
It's great to have a Pho Tau Bay on the Eastbank. The location isn't great, but since I work in the CBD, not terrible. Great pho and a lot of other rice and noodle dishes.
Tasty Pho broth. For the price paid, they kind of skimp on the meat in the bowl which reflects the stars :(. Took a little longer than expected for Pho too but not knocking a star for that.
Wonderful service and food, we tried vegetarian soup and vegetarian rolls and they were awesome, their peanut sauce is a must try
Never had a bad meal here. They're always quick and food is great. It's a note open space that's tastefully designed with enough natural light.
Wonderful quality of Phô for a pretty good price. I recommend ordering remotely instead of in house. They're fast to prepare your order but seem a little overwhelmed keeping up with their online/app orders to the neglect of being efficient with customers ordering in the store.
Friendly owner and staff viet comfort food.... pho broth is clear and delicious very authentic cuisine family originally came from hanoi support small local business
Had a wonderful Pho breakfast there.
This place is very nice inside now that they fixed it up. Authentic Vietnamese food. They validate parking in the lot across the street but you have to pay first. Otherwise it may be hard to find parking.
I've missed this place so much since they moved from Gretna. The pho is phenomenal an the bo kho is delicious! I just wish I lived closer so I could visit more often.
Good pho and and Vietnamese iced coffee. Fair offerings of GF options. Not many places to go in this neighborhood. This place is heavy in my lunch rotation.
Decent. Combo missing beef ball (sold separately $2) and no tripe available. . Cafeteria style system - order and pay at counter, hen they'll bring your order out to you.
Overrated, is not a bad pho, but there are better an more tasty and authentic options in town. A very plane standard flavor.
New Orleans staple, authentic and straight forward menu.
Delicious and authentic. More than a pho and banh mi place. They have a large menu that will keep you coming back for more.
Oh my gosh! I love this place they have this peanut butter sauce that comes with a summer rolls that is delicious! I must say please try the limoncello cake so it was otherworldly
I will n e v e r stop going here. Generally tip 20% or more because I feel their bowls of pho are worth more especially if you’re in the city.
Lovely food! Taro pudding, rare beef pho, summer rolls. Next time I'll be more adventurous. Run by friendly people. We'll be back.
This is my favorite vietnamese pho spot. Great staff, great food, good prices, nice atmosphere. The best!
Love the food but the place closes early. And delivery rates are high. But its consistently the best Vietnamese in town for 2 decades.
Pho Tau Bay makes the best pho broth.... After that everything else falls into place the broth is the main ingredient that makes the soup so once you got that down pat everything else Falls you to clean the place with this with the pho I enjoyed it tremendously I've been going there for years
I used to go to the one on the Westbank and this one's downtown conveniently located on Tulane have to say I love the place and the food.
Always really good! Spring rolls are super fresh. The pho here is delicious.
Absolutely delicious! Fast, quick, good service.
Awsome food at a very affordable price. My all time favorite is the charred pork po-boy, it the the reason I am a loyal customer. I also get the won ton soup! Give it a try.
Had the BK3 and it was amazing!!! Highly recommend and will go back multiple times in a 2 week trip.
Great place however the servings keep getting smaller it seems. A large pho used to feed 2 of us. Not the case any longer though...👎 …
Great service family atmosphereg it's delicious every time never changes consistent
Best Bahn Mi and Wonton soup I've ever had in my life! Will definitely come back when I'm in town.
I always get the ban mi sandwiches to go. They are consistently delicious and reasonably priced.
Good healthy options, nice portions for the price. I love the restaurant aesthetic, old New Orleans and Vietnamese fusion.
Very good pho. Probably the best I've had. I recommend the shrimp spring rolls as well.
So glad they have reopened. So many great foods no matter what time of year. The Vietnamese iced coffee is such a treat!
Ok in a pinch. Broth is kinda too fishy for my tastes. Bun bo hue good, again too fishy. But probably the best spring rolls I ever had.
Loved this place on the Westbank! Not crazy about the look of the new site but only because I'm nostalgic for the old. Food is just as good.
Great asian fusion food. Lovely premises, reasonable price. Have eaten here several times and will go again.
This place has some of the best Vietnamese food in the city, certainly the best you can get without venturing to the West Bank or New Orleans east!
Delicious food, a friendly staff & charming ambiance !
Clean, modern and very efficient service. Definitely recommend if you're in the French Quarter and craving Pho.
My go to place. Great food and run by a wonderful family. Highly recommend!
Hands down best Vietnamese Restaurant in NOLA. Family owned & run.

Pretty good place for lunch.
Best pho broth in town.
We stop here every time we visit New Orleans. Great pho and other authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
Great Vietnamese pho and Banh mi sandwiches always fresh and many vegetarian options.
Johnny Do is an idiot. I'll be sure to check out the VIBRANT PHO SCENE in Miami next time I'm there and dump three containers on his car.
extremely friendly staff, quick service and a variety of authentic vietnamese dishes.
Had Bun Bo Hue for the first time here when they were on the West bank. Great food and great people.
Great atmosphere, great food ( true Vietnamese food) clean facility and the price is right.
Pho is very good. House fried rice and appatizers are nice as well.
Good place. I liked the pho with clear broth
Food was delicious and prepared in a timely fashion. Will definitely try again.
It's as good as it always was, and it is easy and fast at lunchtime plus prices are good. The parking can be an issue.
my favorite! it is always fresh and the quality is very consistent. very nice customer service.
The vegetarian soup was very good
Most authentic Vietnamese Pho in the New Orleans area. Try the chun moi drink. Its a salty lemonade.
Nice place, clean, friendly staff, good food at a great price. Parking is an issue
Pho Tau Bay food is quite elegant and refined in its flavors, text
The pho was amazing! The flavor of the broth was simply the best.
I'm half Vietnamese, so when I say it's almost as good as momma's, you can take it to heart.
One of my favorite Pho spots in town!
Clean, friendly, and delicious. I'm happy they're there.

This place was super tasty, went in on a cold day for some pho and was not disappointed! The staff was super friendly and the food came out in just a few minutes (given it wasn’t very busy that day) and the food itself was delightful! (Not to mention very affordable) I’d definitely recommend giving it a go!
Great find for Vietnamese food! Spicy beef stew soup and bun Bo hue is the real deal! Price is ver very reasonable. Best in Nola.
Great lunch and very friendly server.
I got the shrimp pho and the Bo kho (Vietnamese beef stew)! Yum that broth was heavenly and not too spicy. The shrimp spring rolls were so fresh. So glad we came across this place.
Delicious food, reasonable prices, large portions, and awesome staff. Thanks!
The model of consistency for Vietnamese cuisine downtown. Worth a trip across town for sure. Great portion sizes, quick and polite service. When I'm craving Bun Bo Hue, this is my spot.
First Vietnamese restaurant experience with demand payment and tip before bringing food. Self-service BS but great customer service
