Reviews of Pere Antoine Restaurant
Nicole Cronauer
The food was good and I was so excited to get the corner table with the sliding doors. Portions were huge. The rest of the family really enjoyed the Cajun sampler platter where they got a little bit of everything. Our server seemed a little spacey at times and the card machine went down so we all of a sudden had to use cash, but otherwise it was good.

My spouse and I went here based on the Gluten free reviews. We were blown away by the blackened catfish. Our server Jackie made our stay feel comfortable and inviting. When we return, it will be in large part to visit with her once again
Jackie wisely recommended the blackened catfish, which was so delicious we had to come back another night. It had a blackened crust which was decadently powerful, even while the interior was moist and dense. The veggies were well-steamed and seasoned to compliment the fish perfectly. They maintained a beautiful crunch throughout the meal. We will be back!
Edit: We came back!! Jackie remembered us, our drinks and our order! We asked to be seated in her section specifically :). This time we tried the gator and it was amazing!

The food was good! We had the sampler meal, gumbo duo, Caesar salad and a spicy pasta dish. They were all fresh and tasty! We tried the alligator appetizer, it was pretty good! Just be brave and try it! And definitely get the beignet fries, bananas foster style! To die for! Seriously, they were so good we got a to- go order the next day! I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the service wasn't great, decent but a bit slow, and the kitchen staff was arguing so loudly we could hear it from our table. I wouldn't let that stop you from going though!
Chris Tovar
What a great restaurant, Lena the server made this a great experience for a newcomer like me here in New Orleans.
The food was delicious and the place has a very chill vibe.
Give it a try, I loved it. I am leaving with my stomach full and knowing a new word Lagniappe. I got the sample platter.

Best Bloody Mary I've ever had. They hand mix here, no mixers. Try it, you will not be disappointed. Our server was a lovely lady who wore gold ankh earrings, we had her tables every day we were there. The breakfast was delicious. I had the crab omelette. I will eat here every time I visit NOLA.

Pere Antoine was great in every way...delicious food, stunning location, charming staff. We tried a range of local favorites, including blackened catfish, 2 kinds of jambalaya, and sausage gumbo. Perfect amount of Creole spice to round out wonderful dishes. We'll be back for more!

I wish I had known the restaurant to have real history in chargrilled oysters. I did not and would have loved the experience. I had the blackened catfish meal which was very good. Strangely, my best food experience of my 3-day trip came as a take out container of the Bananas Foster Beignet Fries. The real winner. The three star review could have been less. As one of the hottest days of the season, there was an influx of flies that was very disruptive to my eating experience.

Went here for lunch today on 2/6/2022 with my husband.
I was surprised that there weren't many people at around 1 PM on a Sunday when Rock n'Roll Marathon was in town.
The dining room is very pretty and we were seated next to a window where we could hear a street performer playing a cornet.
I specifically chose this place because I have Celiac disease and their menu actually lists gluten free options!
We ordered the marinated, grilled alligator with horseradish mustard ($17) as the gluten free appitizer. It was surprisingly good and tasted much better than any fried gator that either I or my husband have ever had. The texture is like shrimp, if you could have a chunk of shrimp.
I asked our waitress whether she'd suggest the gluten free jambalaya ($15) or the gluten free Creole ($17) - she suggested the mixed jambalaya (chicken, shrimp and sausage) so I got that. It was okay and came with sauteed vegetables that were meh. I noticed that the shrimp weren't deveined so if that grosses you out, steer clear of the shrimp.
My husband got the chicken Creole and OMG it was so good. I wish I had ordered that! I kept dipping my sauteed vegetables in his Creole sauce.
Chicken Creole was 10/10.
Alligator 8/10
Jambalaya with sauteed vegetables 5/10
I'd eat here again and order two chicken Creoles just for myself next time, it's just that good.

A nice place for locals and tourist alike. Get the same color if you want a little bit of all the taste of New Orleans. Their bread pudding is flat out amazing. A really good vibe with very helpful staff.
Andy Faith
Fantastic Gumbo!!
If you are new to New Orleans, I highly recommend their New Orleans platter, it comes with gumbo, rice, creole, and beans.
It’s a lot but it’s so worth it to try NOLA cuisine all at once, and love it!!

First time having gator bites and what a SHOCKER!!!!
We got a Fried Seafood Poboy Sandwich with Gulf Oysters. The oysters were so crispy on the outside and deliciously juicy with each bite. Such a tasty poboy!
The grilled gator bites were sooo tasty, oh my goodness! I was so shocked by how juicy each bite was. The meat just held onto the spices just like a steak tip would, but the chew was very similar to grilled chicken, just a little chewier almost cooked to medium rare. So, so delicious and so happy to have had the opportunity to try these!
Got a lemonade, but it was pink and tasted way too sweet and artificial for my liking. I only had a sip of it, unfortunately. One too many.
Definitely coming back here for the gator bites and poboys! Yum!
Susie Peterson
We had the very best chicken and sausage gumbo here! Mouthwatering and craveworthy! The cocktails were excellent also.
Stacy Dunaway
This place has amazing service and food! The beignet fries are amazing! Are waitress Lena made it almost feel like you were dining with family. She was wonderful! My husband said they had the best Bloody Mary's he had ever had!
Ingrid Battle
First time here and I highly recommend this place. Great food, great staff, and plenty of drinks to choose. Definitely coming back here
marisol calderon
Staff was amazing very helpful with ordering and super friendly. The food was delicious as well. Would definitely recommend.
Kristen Hulet
We found this gem by accident. Atmosphere was great. Staff are friendly and the food was delish! Get the crab cakes..yummy!
Stefanie Haviv
Absolutely lovely experience. Delicious authentic food, friendly staff and amazing ambiance. There was something on the menu for everyone! I recommend the shrimp creole and the gator tail!
Kim G
The food was good, but the server ruined it for us. One friend got the wrong order and the server blamed the kitchen instead of looking at what we ordered before he brought it out, i asked for a spoon (i ordered the pasta) and waited 10 minutes while he blatantly ignored the table due to not having my friends order so my food got cold, he didnt give us the extra napkins we asked for, and didnt even ask if we wanted refills on our drinks while we sat there either. (I recommend the St. Peter) We didnt even get dessert, even tho i was genuinely excited for the bananas foster beignet fries, because we didnt want to deal with the kid any longer than we had to. Food 5/5 Tuesday night service 1/5.
Trinity Klein
fried shrimp was divine. food is very comforting, well seasoned. went in no expecting much - but it turned out to be well worth it the food is very good.
charlene harrison
One of the best little restaurants we found while there! A definite going back when we are back in New Orleans. Staff was great food was delious.
Kellie Williams
Nice clean restaurant. Service was quick and very efficient. Food was delicious. Good portions for the price. Thanks.
Lauren Brasington
Dinner was fantastic. We ordered the creole combination jambalaya which was easily the best jambalaya I had during our trip. We also ordered the sampler platter—which was a generous portion compared to other samplers in the quarter. The red beans and rice were particularly good. Great service.
Beth Gasser
Had the sausage poboy, and it was very good. Friendly, fast service. Nice atmosphere. Loved that we had a table by the wall with outlets to charge our phones
Willon Lewis Bonds
OMG! What a "hidden gem" (per my wife)! This place was surprisingly empty. I'm ok with that because it offered us a sort of private dining experience BUT, if ya'll pass this place up you will be missing out on a classic dining experience! Shay (girl, I hope I spelled your name right!), was pleasant and just made it even better! I ordered 3 dishes and she said "ya'll are sharing right?!" When I said no, my wife was ready to order, her face was beyond priceless. After my wife orders Shay looks at me and says, "I can't wait to see how far you make it", as she laughed. She was quite attentive and as she collected our plates she looked at me again and says "I'm impressed"! Well Shay, so were we! Thank you for making a memory with my wife and I on our New Orleans Honeymoon! You set a high bar and to the chef...MUAH! That was DELICIOUS!
Ginger Routh
Excellent local cuisine! Great New Orleans atmosphere. Relaxed, unpretentious, large portions, friendly service. We shared an order of shrimp Creole plus each got a sandwich and fries. Po Boy is amazing! They do serve breakfast here all day and we were tempted but went with the lunch menu instead. Highly recommend!
Suzie Maine
We had a lovely meal here. Unfortunately we were in a bit of a rush, as we had a tour booked, so we couldn't fully appreciate it, but we had tasty food (gumbo/jambalaya), refreshing cocktails and great service. Just sorry we had to run - would have loved to have spent more time here!!
Albert Cura
Wow wow wow the jambalaya was amazing. The service was great and we got our food fast.
brent retherford
Nice place, clean, staff courteous. Tuesday evening, fairly busy. We ordered adult beverages. We ordered Decatur Gator and the Seafood platter. Enjoyed both. Would definitely eat here again.
William Booth
Just Fantastic!!! We heard from a local to go to Pere Antoine. We ordered the Blackened Chicken, Fried Chicken, and Cajon Sampler. I just can't get over how wonderful all these dishes were.... probably the best dinner since Spain. The jambalaya, gumbo, creole shrimp, beans and rice we're out of this world. My wife's fried chicken was probably the best chicken we've ever had. My daughter's blackened chicken was also phenomenal. I had the bread pudding and we all shared bananas foster beignet fries. Both of these desserts were incredible. Probably my favorite restaurant in years. I was so busy enjoying my dinner that I did not take any pictures of the dishes.... LoL.
Amanda Nelson
Some of these reviews are CRAZY! This restaurant has some of the best mixed drinks around. The alligator is to die for - as well as many of their pasta dishes. It's New Orleans' y'all; sometimes there will be a wait and a lot of times these places will be busy! Try some patience. I'll be a repeat customer for LIFE.
Leslie Bloxam
Jambalaya for hubby and red beans and rice for me. All wonderful! Gator bites were awesome! Loved the bread pudding surprise sample for my husband’s bday. Lena was our waitress and she was a delight! Thanks Lena! You made his day!
Steven
Solid FQ joint for food. Drinks are a little pricey though. Red beans with blackened chicken was delicious. Vibe was cozy on a Monday evening, about half full. I’d return for food if in the area.
Kerri Patterson
Three different people got three different plates and everything on these plates was phenomenal. Crispy fry on the catfish and shrimp. Delicious homemade Alfredo sauce. And I have no words for the bananas foster beignet fries. Y'all, just try them. Our server was also fantastic. Very warm and welcoming. Wish we were staying longer so we could visit again.
Robert Rosenthal
I went here twice during my visit and each time rated only three stars.
It was a crazy time in New Orleans - Labor Day Weekend, Decadence Festival, and and LSU/Houston Football game all going on at the same time. So, it was packed. Pere Antoine has a reasonably priced menu (for the French Quarter), looks elegant, and has a nice selection of Cajun and Creole foods.
My first visit was just my son and me. We were looking for a place that had immediate seating available and was not outrageously priced. We were seated almost immediately. The menu is pretty extensive and offers everything from Po-Boys to Jambalaya. For my dinner on my first visit, I had the Jambalaya. It was a little overcooked, so the rice was heavy and sticky. And, the shrimp were the tiny cocktail versions and did not taste completely fresh. They were not bad, they just had that fishy taste you get when they are a little older than they should be. It kind of overpowered the rest of the meal.
The second time we went, my wife, son, and I were looking for brunch. As we passed it, there were plenty of seats, so we decided to go. It was a late brunch, so I actually ordered lunch. Their roast beef Po-Boy was smaller than other Po-Boys at other restaurants we went to. The beef was good. The fries were a little damp. The one really good thing for me was the bread on the Po-Boy. I like my bread crusty, and this was.
Also, the service was really outstanding.
Next time we're in New Orleans I expect we will skip Pere Antoine.

Dinner on Christmas Eve:
Food: 4
Ambience: 5
Service: 3
On the limited restaurants that were open on Christmas Eve and how busy the place was, specially after Staints won that night. It was celebrations every where. People were happy amd partying. Restaurant was house full with little wait. We got the table quickly. After ordering the food, we got the drinks fairly quickly. Food took a while, not a complaint sincr they were really busy. Food was well cooked, tasty and nice served. I do think that they have give little more portion. Drinks weren’t refill and I think the server just forgot to check on the table.
Besides, I still recommend the place.
JB Courvoisier
Went there for lunch and it was spot on! They serve breakfast all day and was feeling an afternoon omelette...with a beer! Man, um, um good Cajun eats and the eatery sits right on corner that is open to enjoy the wonderful weather. The bathrooms are super clean and our server Marlon was a jovial and an informative young man. Great service with great fare. A good place to get those red beans and rice, étouffée and po'boys.
Michael Shearer
Alligator bites & po boys... does it get anymore Cajun than this!? Our waitress was amazing and so welcoming to us... I feel like this food tour (vacation) has been a huge success due to the slower traveling with covid-19
Tchiyiwe “T”
This place was amazing. The food!! The little courtyard was so cute and it was the perfect time to sit outside and take pictures of course.
The service was great. The food was just so delicious and so we're the drinks. Would 10/10 recommend
Alexa Steinkuhler
Food was great! So was the atmosphere! Enjoyed the service! Mardi Gras pasta major go to!
Monica Michelle
The waiter was great! Quick and attentive but not aggrevating. All the food was pretty good. The air was just right coming in from super hot day.
We had a table of 5, and everyone loved it. There's a covered outdoor area in the back that you can eat by the fountain.
We had to adjust our table as somehow we moved our table to be under a dripping vent. Other than that, everything was great - greeter, waiter, etc.
Tom Catyb
Locals place, as those who have read my reviews. Had sausage po-boys, chicken st. Ann, and creole jambalaya. Dessert beignets were delicious. Beer cold, some locals available. We sat at corner table on the street. Definitely a return visit will be in order
K Cassity
We got there about 6pm, just before the dinner rush. Our waitress was very good and our food came reasonably quickly considering the dining room filled to capacity shortly after we were seated. We ordered the red beans and rice, shrimp creole, chicken & sausage gumbo, and salad which was all very good. Loved the ambience of the restaurant and the historical architecture and beautiful windows and decor!
Kenny Stachovich
Stumbled on this place the day after Mardi Gras. Food was good and the service was amazing. Our waitress was very attentive and super friendly.
Zarah Cejoco
Just arrived in New Orleans and this is the first place I sit down to eat. Well, I had to have an emergency pizza from someplace else first but their chicken and sausage gumbo was really good! The NOLA beers were good too. But I must state how impressed I was with the beignet fries. I had just recently been very disappointed with another place outside of NOLA for their attempt at beignets but these little fries made up for all that. Had my first hurricane which honestly was weak but I've got other places where I've gotta get drinks from, too, so this wasn't a big deal. Plus, the service ladies here were super sweet and funny. What made it even better was there was no wait when we walked in!
Yady G
Excellent place. Servers are the best. I suggest Mango tango margarita cocktail.
Jackie Adams
Emily the lady manning the bar was great. Since NOLA is such a busy city it's nice to once in a while get to know you bartender and become connected. she suggested the red beans and rice and made a spectacular margarita!
E
As a local a bit of basic poboy but surprisingly better than a LOT of other places. Perfectly cooked and for me the perfect amount of gravy; not too dry not too drenched. Great service and cool inside. 😊 would be back …
Hans Meier
Tasty hot roastbeef, good service and ambiance
Benedet Lopz
The best restaurant in the world and my favorite in the entire world, the food is just amazing, every single thing there is delicious, a most in NOLA, I drive every year there just to eat and enjoy such amazing place, jambalaya, gumbo, red beans, po boys, drinks...... amazing !!
Dominic Mickelson
Food was good. But, slow service! They forgot part of my wife's meal and by the time we had a server stop back by we were 3/4 of the way thru the meal. Overall, good food. This could of been higher with better service.
Andres Schiavi
The day I visited, the menu was reduced to two options only, and they would have coffee to serve! weird and disappointing
Martanda Blancard
The menu was definitely attentive! When it came to the food. There was a disconnect. Alcohol is pricey! Price isn’t proportional to the quality of food… My wife’s expression said it all about the service…
Mystique
My family and I had a lunch after we spend all morning walking. Gumbo, gumbalaya, Creole and sandwiches all good, really tasty. Hailey was wonderful with the service. The dessert delicious. I recommend the place. Good prices and worth it.
Holly Sweatt
Liked it so much we went twice while in the city. Great food, great drinks, super staff!
Marilyn Okita
Pere Antoine's offers an extensive menu of local specialties and the flavorful Jambalaya was memorable! This is a quality restaurant in the heart of the French Quarter decorated beautifully for the holidays.
Wendy Thorp
Our food was excellent and our server was even better
Eloy Sevilla
This place has a sampler that is incredible it has a little bit of everything including dessert for $19 a person. We ordered a fried green tomato and shrimp appetizer that was absolutely delicious. Good friendly service.
Katie M
Absolutely wonderful! Amazing classic NOLA eats with a good price. Kenneth is a charming witty waiter! They have awesome bloody marys and irish coffees.
Miya Piya
This restaurant was really nice and came in handy after a long night of walking. They closed at 12am and we got there right at 11pm but we were seated right away and a friendly server by the name of Terrance helped us to have an amazing dining experience. My friends sampled the gumbo and loved it but the spice kicked in at the end so I would recommend stirring it between bites. But everything else was great thanks to Terrance!
john benes
Wonderful restaurant. Quick service during the week. Best red beans and rice I've had in New Orleans.
Eleazar Rodríguez
Went with my partner, we wanted to have a NOLA breakfast so we did. Eggs with spicy sauce and grits and coffee. Liked it very much. And the design of the place was great. Also the service was good. What can I say, it's NOLA.
Batman Fitness and Strength
Great place for some authentic New Orleans food. The service was great and the food came out very quickl despite it being pretty busy. Definitely worth a stop if in New Orleans.
Ryan Pickering
This place has the best gumbo, both seafood and sausage varieties. The Cajun shrimp pasta is absolutely heavenly as well. The drinks were strong and the wait staff is laid back and friendly. Absolutely loved the environment and food.
Philippe Monomro
Great experience! I had a lunch at Père Antoine on a beautiful rainy day. It was empty. The host was very nice and showed me to my table right away. The waitress was very sweet, too. I asked her for a recommendation and didn't regret - the blackened chicken breast with crawfish tails and mushroom sauce was delicious. It was a random visit without previous researching and I was happy about it.
Jessica Bush
I really don’t understand how this place only has 3.8 stars. We struggled to find somewhere last minute before we had an 8 pm tour. Luckily, we found this place and I’m so glad we did! The food was great and so were the drinks. Also doesn’t break the bank. Service was awesome. We had only 35 minutes to eat before the tour and we mentioned that to our server and they brought everything out so fast! I definitely recommend the red beans & rice with the fried chicken!
Elycia Smith
Emily at the bar was so kind. She made our experience the best in NOLA. She was happy to serve us, knew when we were looking for conversation and when we were just talking amongst ourselves, and without knowing it she made us feel close to home. Would highly recommend!
John Steindl
We love this restaurant! crab cake and jambalaya were particularly yummy!
MARK GONZALEZ
MY FIRST TIME EATING CAJUN FOOD. AFTER TRYING THE NEW ORLEANS SAMPLER AND THE BBQ SHRIMP...IM IN LOVE WITH THE FOOD!!! GREAT LOOKING RESTAURANT, GOOD FOOD AND FRIENDLY STAFF.
Jacqui Sullivan
Great Cat 2 Hurricane! We also had the Roast Beef Po Boy! Yummmm
DatOneRadDad
So... the night we went in, I overheard from the bartender, 4 members of the staff called in. The wait time at the door was very long even though we could visibly see open tables. Our server wasn't very attentive, but we was covering half the place.
Men's bathroom was clean
Everyone said their food was real good, but for me and my sausage po boy, it wasn't even warm when I got it. My fries weren't cold and still crispy, they were cold and super soggy. I still ate everything because I knew I needed food in my tummy for a heavy night of drinking.
I would have given Pere's a 2 or 3 normally, but with staff out, at fully efficiency, I could see this place being a 4 or even maybe a 5.
Will I return and eat here again, I don't know, I don't even know when I'll be in NOLA next, but if I do make a return trip; but I'll remember the place.
Malice Deir
My buddy and I stopped in for some food and the Mardi Gras pasta I ordered was amazing. Our waitress Jackie was so nice and from Ohio like us! She was so great! It was mostly pleasant besides our drinks taking forever both times. If that was on point it’d be 5 stars.
Dale Smith
Good place to grab some breakfast. Stopped in the last few times in Nola and did not disappoint.
Rico S.F.
The food here was OK, nothing special. I had the Creole Combo Jambalaya for $14 and it was pretty much a big blend of the sam s flavors with some extremely bland steamed veggies. My guest had the Surf and Turf Po Boy combo for $16 and this was definitely the better plate of the two. The Po Boy was very messy, so plan for that. The service was ehhhh... our waiter was decent at our table but I saw him drip drinks into the customers, while serving them, on 2 other table and he completely disregarded it; he spilled some beer, while serving it, on someone’s baby carriage and didn’t acknowledge it at all. The customers cleaned it himself with napkins and he was not happy about that. Other servers were milling around, pretty unhappy looking, and one waitress stood at the register by the kitchen and just kept singing the same Xmas song over and over (to herself but loud enough for my table to hear)... that was pretty annoying. Overall, if I had to do it again I’d probably just grab the PoBoy and a beer at the bar and skip for formality of dining at a table, not worth it.
Cheryl Edwards
Food and service is good here. All the staff, from the servers to the bartenders are super friendly. Allow extra time, because service can be slow, as they seem to be short staffed, like so many other places now a days, but it's worth the wait. They never seem too busy, and it's a nice place to relax and get away from large crowds for a while. I also like that they seem to be open whenever we can't get in last minute anywhere else. The banana foster beignet fries are a yummy treat.
Elizabeth Myrtle
I have eaten here multiple times across many trips ,and i have tried something new on most occassions. The service is always great and the food is usially high quality. The drink menu is really lovely as well.
Gulf Shores Beach Retreat
Crawfish bread special outstanding.
Frozen lemonade cocktail outstanding
Lena super outstanding! She makes this place rock!!!!
There today and back tonight or tomorrow…
MELISSA ANNE
Derek was fantastic. Great service. Fabulous food.
Jake Hunt
I like to try the gumbo everywhere and this was good. And they had a twist that let you get a cup of seafood or chicken. And the beignet fries, I’m dying.
Marcel Dubovsky
Tried sampler and went there next day for chicken & sausage gumbo specifically. Gumbo is really good. Staff is very friendly. There may a little bit of wait when they are really busy.
Matthew Gledhill
Only had drinks at the bar, but our bartender Doug did an excellent job of making some great cocktails.
rachel m
Food was delicious and the staff was pleasant!
susan foote
Do not miss the Bananas Foster beignet fries! They are crispy, sweet and delicious.
Andrew Claxton
Really good meal , also a superb bourbon sour …highly recommended.
George Robinson
Breakfast was filling and amazing, my wife stated that the coffee is the best she's ever tasted and apparently the couple across from us agreed (I'm not a coffee person) like others we waited to be seated but it was worth the wait, service was extremely good .
Update one year later,
Back again, this place is great, very local and welcoming personality, the food is great the service is undoubtedly fantastic, Melissa was great and a big reason we came back for dinner the same day we had breakfast, you can't beat a place that has that kind of personality and classic yet simplicity atmosphere, what an experience, food, service, can't be beat.
Thank you for the experience, see ya all next year.
Ps.
Thank you Melissa for being so welcoming.
That alone made the day great.
Rachel Gullett
Delicious po boys and hurricanes. We heard the second line pass as we say by the window. Perfect New Orleans experience at a restaurant with Marie Laveau's lovers namesake.
Troy Topp
Food was okay, the service was very good but you absolutely have to go for the beignet fries!! Seriously go have them.
Janae Varney
Delish blackened chicken Alfredo special. May be the best I've ever had. The loaf of bread was perfectly toasted. Our server Tam, was full of sass and we loved her! Save room for the banana fosters.
Robert Arce
Great Bloody Mary, red beans and rice, tasty gumbo, and fried chicken! It could use a facelift, the service is fun, but casually paced (but you're in the south, sooooo....)
Aaron Angert
Overpriced, food was of variable quality, the gumbo was standard, however the jambalaya was much to be desired, and was unenthusiastically bland.
Anna R
very authentic new orleans cuisine!!
Carycel H
This place has the best fried chicken ever! We tried different dishes and all of them were really good! Poppy, our waitress was super nice and kind. I definitely recommend this place👌🏼👌🏼 …
Aylyn Yalaz
We wandered in here after a long day of walking around the French quarter. We ordered their famous Bloody Mary, an oyster shot in their Bloody Mary mix, and Fried Green Tomatoes with shrimp. Everything was absolutely delicious. Seriously one of the best bloodies I’ve ever had and the oyster shot was oh so good. FYI this was my first oyster shot so I have no idea if it was truly amazing. The Fried green tomatoes with shrimp were A+. Best of all, our server was top notch. She was really friendly and efficient.
Darren Jones
EVERY SINGLE ENTREE'....(5 of them) was phenomenal! Service was exceptional and the VIBE super.
Brian Townsend
The service was decent, the burger was bland and lacked much flavor, a few spices would go a long way. Tasted like a backyard bbq burger, nothing special but still edible. Frozen margarita was good.
Marines Mama
Loved it! Can't wait to go back for the amazing beignet fries! So darn good. The waif staff is fun too!
S M
Food was delicious, specialty drinks are pricey. Saw a few roaches crawling on the wall. But keep in mind this restaurant is an open concept restaurant so bugs are sure to come in. My server was awesome
Gina Hope
Breakfast was yummy. View was great. Drinks good. Coffee fabulous. Souvenir cups.

Had a Pasta Pontchartrain, solid sauce, the crab cake was a bit underwhelming though. Overall great experience at a historical establishment.
Aurora Yancey
This was a very fun, unique, and delicious spot. I had the vegetable pasta which had very fresh squash and zucchini with ab amazingly Rich Alfredo sauce!!!
Jennifer
Great atmosphere! Windows and doors open gives a great view of the happenings on the street. The roast beef po'boy AMAZING!
Rebecca Elliott
Our server was Mary. Ask for her. She is fabulous! Such a good personality. Tell her the people from Chicago recommended her! We enjoyed the huge burgers they make and the half shrimp/half catfish poboy, the catfish platter, and the crayfish etouffee, and we shared amongst ourselves as it was my great-nieces' first trip to Louisiana/New Orleans. Of note, Pere Antoine officiated at the wedding of Marie Laveau, the voodoo queen of New Orleans. Bobby Bare sang song about her in 1974.
Jerry Ratigan
Respectable clean establishment with friendly staff. Food was good and prices were standard for the Quarter. Nothing memorable but when you need a break from Bourbon Street and the crowds this place will suffice.
Donna Thomas
Our food was amazing. Platter was fried to perfect and that bread pudding ~melted in your mouth!
Our server Stacy was attentive, friendly and helpful in reccomendations.
Thom LaLonde
Our server, Lena P., was fantastic! Best Bloody Mary in New Orleans. The crawfish omelette was incredible. Pere Antoine is the only restaurant we visited more than once.
Pam K
The chicken and sausage gumbo was amazing l had the Shrimp Creole as my dinner. Excellent! Great Margaritas
Whitney Rayl
Everything about this place was fantastic. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect, and the service was to die for. 10/10, would recommend!
Richard Montanez
Stopped for a quick lunch. Everything was really good!
Grimek08
We approached at 7:02pm and had a tour that started five blocks away at 8:00pm. We let the hostess know and she had all six of us seated and our food to us within 20 minutes! Let me explain something, this is not fast food. This was all hands on deck to please these six people and accommodate their time constraints. Not only was the food worthy of all five stars(house gumbo is fireeeee) but the service was too. See you again soon!!!!!
John Miller
We have dined here twice now. Lena was our waitress and she was fantastic. The fried green tomatoes and shrimp are excellent so was the red beans and rice. We will be going back tomorrow and try the jambalaya. Would highly recommend to anyone to eat here.
Christina S
Drinks were overly sweet, but the food was delicious. Our group had the blackened catfish, Cajun omelet (breakfast all day), the shrimp Po boy, the burger, and the jambalaya. Everything was great, but there was not much protein(chicken, sausage, and shrimp) in the jambalaya-shrimp were small and I only got one small piece of sausage
Sheena Tilton
This place is amazing! The food, service and prices were fantastic! Joe the waiter was wonderful. Will always come back here!
Francine brown
The food and service made you feel at home!! Love it!!
Marcie Frewin
Awesome food! Great prices! Very good main and central location in the French Quarter.
J. Toes
Food was good. Blackened fish was a little over load on spices. 2 of us had pasta w/fried chicken it was so good. Had hot roast beef poyboy that was good as well. Drinks are strong!
Now restrictions on the other hand Mask required to move around restaurant. But it's open to outside, menus still handed out, condiments on every table...and no hand soap in bathrooms 🤦♀️🤷♀️.
Servers have face masks on.
lucas mortensen
The food here was great! I'm glad this place was recommended to me
Peter Lam
I shared a deep fried seafood platter with my wife, cost $25. I enjoyed the cat fish, it was fresh. Service was excellent. Two exterior walls of the the dining hall was completely open to outside and the dinning room has 15 feet high ceiling so even though it was indoor dining, the ventilation comparable to outdoor dining. We felt safe eating there.
melanie mcmanus
Had the shrimp creole, crawfish & crab cake, a cup of chicken & sausage gumbo, chicken tenders and 3 desserts ... our server Daisha was absolutely wonderful and very sweet, all of the staff was wonderfully calming and yet on top of everything, we waited and wanted for absolutely nothing. What a great experience we had here. Thank you!
Kate Hakala
The food was adequate, location was great and we had a friendly waitress. Our last impression, though , was the bartender letting us know that we needed to leave. It was close to closing time but there were at least 4 other parties still finishing their meals. She was not the least bit gracious.
Yvonne L WalKer
Beautiful decor great people awesome food
Dkings 13
One of the best foods in town, perfect spot in the middle of the French Court and the service was outstanding! Our waitress Poppy made us feel like home!
Julija Mrazauskienė
Delicious food, great service and cozy place for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Lori Sousa
We had dinner here tonight because it is close to our hotel. We had to wait a while for a table, but that's expected. When we were seated our waiter was running around and looked very busy. It took a long time to order. We noticed that the people who were seated 2 minutes before us had eaten and left and we had not received our food yet. We started watching after that. Everyone who had our waiter was waiting a long time and people with other waitstaff were served promptly and left. The food was just average. Our worst meal here this week. Now, the food wasn't bad, but definitely not worth our wait. It was tasty, but nothing special. Our waiter brought us a free dessert to make up for the wait. I wouldn't recommend this place based on my experience.
Sharon Lewis
Delicious food excellent service highly recommend
Ashley W
Great food! If you want to try flavors and dishes from the area, this was a great place to do it. The best we had while in NOLA. Servers were friendly and kept our drinks full.
Briana McCarthy
Excellent food and service! I had the blackened chicken and the table shared the alligator as an appetizer (both beautifully seasoned and the veggies and rice sides were great as well).
The atmosphere was relaxing and have the shutters open to let in the breeze made the experience extra enjoyable.
Maria Abdala
We are in town on vacation and stopped by for lunch. My shrimp po'boy was delicious. I tried my husband's jambalaya and that was good too. Our waiter was amazing so no complaints there. The only negative is that the drinks are expensive and we don't understand why were charged an extra $4 for our virgin pina coladas. On the check it said $14 for 2 virgin daiquiris and $4 for pina colada. I wasn't going to argue for $4 though. We would definite go back but just for food.
M Buffington
My daughter, who is a very picky eater, loved the grilled Gator so much we had to go back a second time during our weekend trip. Try the New Orleans sampler, but make sure you are hungry or share it! Creole, Jambalaya and Gumbo were excellent.
Storm Goddard
Loved the Hostess ( possibly owner), the service to be seated, the drinks , food, the ambiance. Our waiter was a little distant but a great place overall.
Becka Toole
Had an amazing dinner and experience here!! Not only is this place rich in history it is rich in great service! Our waiter Nathan was fabulous!! With his wit and humor he made our already delicious meal all the more tastier ☺ they do a pretty big serving size (for us Auzzies) compared to what little it all costs. Highly recommended for those looking to get more bang for their buck 😻😻😻
Heather Lou
Amazing lunch and great beers. Chicken sausage gumbo was EPIC.
Brad Lusk
Gumbo was awesome. Red beans and rice, gumbalaya excellent. Only thing holding this back from 5 stars is drink service was very very slow.
Dr. Joseph Dutton
This place was amazing!!!! The Beignet Fries with bananas was amazing!!! Definitely coming back on our next NOLA visit.
thomas banker
Good food...but the bartender Melissa...she's the reason to go to this spot!!! Best and most welcoming food experience we had during our stay in Nola
Joey C
Maybe it's because it was the first time I had it. But the gator appetizer was amazing. It set a bar the rest of the food had to hit and the food didn't disappoint. Definitely recommend this place. The staff here is amazing. They definitely want to make sure you're taken care of!
Riesa Lewis
This restaurant was so hospitable. They were about to close but graciously allowed us to order some gumbo to go. Two other people came in while we were waiting with various requests and were also treated very nicely. Great service and delicious gumbo...I couldn't have asked for more!
Bill Croghan
Ordered, wrong dish served sent back. The original order arrived, oysters burnt, catfish greasy both cold. After an hour I ended up ordering shrimp etouffee. This was good, just warm.
The waitress was very helpful. Kitchen staff needs to pay attention. Too many other places to eat in town for a second chance from me.
Nick H
This was my go to spot in NOLA. I traveled alone and say at the bar here multiple times to eat. The catfish was too good to be true, as was most of the food. The bartending staff was wonderful and helpful in my trip. I forget the lady bartender's babe, but she was wonderful. Heck, everyone was. If you're looking for a safe bet to start your trip on food, this should be it. Good cocktails as well.
Bill Daggett
We always stop in for a meal and drinks. Prices have escalated since our last visit. If they remain high on our next visit, we'll probably find another place. The food was good, as were the drinks. Please don't price yourself out of business. That would be a huge mistake and a tragedy. We love Antoine's.
Maggie Wright
The jambalaya was very good, probably my favorite thing I ate. The shrimp creole was tasty but could have had more shrimp in it. I did enjoy the red beans and rice, however I felt that it may not have been quite homemade. Maybe semi-homemade? My husband recommends the shrimp Po Boy.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice. It was nice having an open window to look out onto the street.
Our waiter, Tam, was excellent. He was very attentive. He had a lot of good suggestions for places to visit while we were in town. Overall I'd say that we had a very pleasant experience at the restaurant.
Morgan Atchison
I came here to get some work done over lunch and was drawn to the casual yet classy vibe. Service was great and I appreciated they had bottled water available to everyone. It's located on a corner so offers great views of the street with its big windows. Food was not completely to to par for me. I had their Cajun omelette which was flavored nicely but if you are paying what you are and they offer you hash browns, just say no. They were literally premade cubed potatoes. I would have expected fresh hash browns or something that didn't roll right out of a bag.
Kelly Lomas
We stopped in for a drink as we were walking down Royal Street. Decided to grab a bite to eat at. Absolutely delicious! We had gumbo and fried green tomatoes. It’s important to note we were there during COVID-19, so there were not a lot of places actually open and the restaurant was not busy; still the service and food were great. Decor was Old Worlde French. Would Definitely recommend!
William Fay
Nice location. Good prices. Food varied from pretty good to pretty bad. The etouffe was a low point. Service was really slow which made the hostess particularly grumpy. Not our fault some staff may have called out. Interestingly the staff highlight was the personable and engaging busboy.
Nice atmosphere in the heart of the French Quarter with plenty of street views.
April Gilliard
Staff was amazingly friendly and courteous. I had the bananas foster beignet fries and they were just heavenly. My whole table of associates loved every part of the meal and the atmosphere is very homely. I definitely would suggest to get food here. And also be sure to get desert here because you would be doing a disservice to yourself otherwise :3
Ms. West Virginia Creekstomper
A must-eat if you're swinging through New Orleans' French Quarter! We visited the city for 3 days and 2 nights, following recommendations and good reviews for our food selections and it wasn't until a spur of the moment decision to have a farewell lunch during our final walkabout on day 3 did I find the true, New Orleans flavor that is so boasted.
Pere Antoine has a relaxing atmosphere, beautiful seating options and friendly service that welcomes you into the experience.
If you're in town, you must stop in and try their Decatur Gator appetizer along with their sampler dish of some of the finest examples Cajun cuisine!
Sara Kordahi
Went here after a haunted walking tour. My sister in law and her daughter and I were starving. My sister in law had the gumbo and she loved it. My niece had the chicken sandwich and I couldn't believe she finished it. I had the oysters and they were delicious, lightly battered and fried to perfection. The service was okay. The ambiance was nice because we sat right next to the open windows and watched people walking by. We had a really lovely time.
simon
Second time to come here and I loved it just as much. The food is excellent, reasonably priced for seafood, and comes out in a timely manner. Our party was even fortunate enough to have 3-4 wedding parades go by on Royal while we dined. I will definitely be coming back here.
Laura Eloe
The sampler platter was fantastic. Definitely big enough to share!
Kristin Elink-Schuurman-Laura
Service was bad. Was seated right away but it took the waitress 15 minutes to take our order. I watched her serve a table that was sat over 10 minutes AFTER us. Apparently she forgot about us. HOWEVER, she did apologize and give us some free dessert. The crawfish reduction sauce is awesome as is their poboy and chicken. The fries were tasteless.
Amarette Talbot
My b great friends and I stopped in here for dessert and drinks. They had bananas Foster beignet fries that were wonderful decadent. We also had a tall lemon berry cake that was so so good with a glass of sweet wine. Or server was very sweet. We sat in the window seat for a couple hours chatting and they never once made us feel rushed. Loved it here!
Stuart Brown
A lovely restaurant. Great service, a great drinks menu featuring bottled beer as well as beer on tap that they serve in frosted glasses. They also make the best cocktail in town in my opinion. I had the surf and turf Poboy and it was amazing, the richness of the crayfish sauce and the tenderness of the roast beef - I could have one right now!!! Will visit again if in New Orleans.
Nadine Klein
We ate here early afternoon. The table at the open window was really nice, the food was good. We can recommend the veggie creole and the beans&rice&fried chicken. For our huge hunger the size of the meals were perfect. Not 5 stars though, because we waited 30 minutes of the food, but there were only few customers.
Rits M
The food and the service here was really great. For starters we had the trio and i loved the crabclaws in gravy- that gravy was really incredible. Reminded me of home. I had the jambalaya omelette, and my bother got the crab omelette. Both were really good, came together really well and very delish. I recommend the royal margs for drinks. And also the beignet fries, they are incredible. Come with bananas and caramel and are the perfect size for a shared dessert. Wait staff was good too, but didnt really make good recommendations, I guess they get a lot of tourists with a variety of tastes. Place looks a little old school but as long as the food is good, it doesnt have a big impact on me. They were nice enough to let us sit by the door since the weather was incredible.
Navid B
They serve cajun and creole food as well as good selection of New Orleans style cocktails. The food quality is ok. The service is good. I liked the back patio. However, I would have been much happier if they manage the electrical equipment noise better.
Elayna Simmons
DELICIOUS fried chicken, red beans, jambalaya, gumbo. They have a "try it all" special, and it was all fantastic. We sat inside and had plenty of room to feel safe. The staff were very kind and attentive.
CoCo Mojaydoh
We came upon this restaurant whirl traversing the French Quarter and decided to eat here on a whim. Was so happy there was a restaurant serving Cajun/creole seafood late st night! The food we shared was amazing. The gumbo and jambalaya were delicious! Will definitely be back here again!
Phil Landis
The $16 grilled Gator appetizer! Its marinated over night in deliciousness! The "grill-char" on it is perfect! It's a "must get!" Had it twice this weekend. Also the seafood (shrimp) gumbo, So good!
Lee Coursey
Nice open space, but Less than enjoyable experience. It may have been the time of day (~2pm on Wendesday) or the post-COVID rebuilding of staff, but the server was barely attentive, the food was bland, the bacon on the wedge salad was inedible, and the jambalaya felt soggy and simultaneously under and over seasoned.
Vidar Child
The food was good, in parts. We were expecting slightly bolder flavors, considering where it's located and it being southern/Cajun food. The service staff is friendly, but not as attentive as we're used to. The restaurant was full, though, so maybe that was the reason.
Michael Sweetapple
I have loved eating there for years. I've never gotten bad food or service, and the prices are more than fair.
On a special note, I always have at least one of their oyster shooters. They are very good.
John Smith
The food was pretty good, except for the fried chicken which was very dry. Both the kids meal and adult paneed chicken, both super dry. The Cajun dishes we got though were excellent. It was a little pricey. My son asked for a side of red beans with his kid's meal, I should've asked because they ended being $5 or $6. The service wasn't great, we had to ask someone else's waiter for refills twice because we almost never seen our waitress.
William Freeman
Lovely, restaurant in the quieter part of the French Quarter. Lots of space and sitting room in this classic restaurant with tall ceilings and large windows which kept in warmth on a colder night in NO. The host/wait staff were friendly, personable, and knowledgeable about the menu. Not sure if that changes since it was at the end of the night and the place wasn't busy.
We only had dessert and mixed drinks here and although everything was great, the price could be equated to an actual meal. That's my only major gripe about this place but it is French Quarter food and the prices are raised sadly because of it.
Gary Griffith
Good food and service. Quieter and more relaxing than many other places. Would visit again
Sandra
Everything about this place is amazing. It's such a charming atmosphere with delicious food. We had the best waiter (Beau) who took such good care of us. He was so friendly and attentive making sure our experience was excellent. It will definitely be our go to whenever we visit.
Cris DosSantos
Typical Creole food. Very good. Fair price.
Rachel C
Susan the bartender was so pleasant, and we had a great conversation with her. She gave us great suggestions for food, and had excellent customer service. The roast beef Po-Boy was delicious, my friend said the catfish was delicious as well. I would definitely come back again! You’re awesome Susan! Thanks for the tips about NOLA!
Heather Stapleton
Absolutely delicious breakfast! I had the corn grits, eggs, and bacon. Great service and their frozen adult pink lemonade was amazing!
Nate
To be honest this place was just ok. The lady got the chicken pasta, here’s was warm and tasty. I on the other hand got the jambalaya…parts of it was warm…parts of it was still cold. 😬 All in all, I’d definitely not recommend it unless you want meh food. …
PEYTON
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Nola. Not to be confused with the uber fancy Antoine's on St. Louis Street (this is on Royal St).
We had the sandwiches and gumbo. The prices are right and the food is great. Every time we were here, the servers were incredibly nice. I love it when you get a window seat and they crack them wide open to hear the sounds of the street.
Victor Villescas
Had dinner last night great place plus the waiter was super.
Michael Caswell
Visited while in NOLA, good food and decent drinks. Bit pricey but then everything is. Service was good and attentive however was not welcomed in and had to search for staff to get a table even though they were fairly quiet at the time.
LeAnn Dessauer
The food was pretty good. Although they claimed to have gluten free options, most were in the breakfast section. Really bummed their regular and sweet potato fries were not gluten free. And if you don't want creole spice on your food make sure to tell them.
Mary Ellen Vinyard
On May 18, 2021 my husband had jambalaya at Pere Antoine for lunch. Later that afternoon he started feeling sick. By evening he had full blown nonstop vomiting and diarrhea. He had commented that the shrimp tasted fishy, but thought it must be fresh right there on the gulf. Needless to say it wasn’t. He was in bed or in the bathroom the rest of the week, our first vacation to New Orleans ruined.
Nyabinghi Djehutti
Food was good, depending on what you ordered. The oysters in the seafood platter were quite small, like they came from a tin can at the grocery store. The alligator tasted like it was actually chicken, well marinated, but still chicken. The Hurricane lacked the alcohol content one would expect from the New Orleans classic. The crab cake pasta was good, but could have used more seasoning. May give it another try.
Will Matthews
Decent food and service. Prices were fair. The place was clean, and had a good selection of foods. The mixed drink I ordered was overly sweet. Overall, a decent experience, and I would go back, but nothing to really write home about.
Jessica Knowles
The food was amazing, the service severely lacking. My husband and I ordered the sampler dinner and had to go find a waitress after 15-20min to get dessert and our check. The busboy, who complained about being there for "ten years" also swore profusely while cleaning tables.
Matthew Williams
Amazing Red Beans and Rice! We drove over from Gulfport because we wanted some good res beans. Most of NOLA was closed but fortunately we found Pere Antoines! Phyllis was awesome. Food was AMAZING! EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED! THANK YOU
Steven Lee
My 3 stars are ONLY for my server Lina who was fantastic.
But it would be zero stars for the food.
I ordered the big easy breakfast sandwich with hash browns.
It's just shaneful that they would charge that much and serve something so small in portion as well as the side of hash browns were cold and stale.
Had I known anything about the food they serve I would never step foot in the place.
I hope this review helps someone in the future to avoid disappoint like I had here.
Thank you, Lina!
Thibault laib
Beau, our waiter was amazing!
The food was, okay - I had the gombo and finding pieces of meat in the chicken and sausage gombo was a challenge. Can't say it really impressed me compared to the other I've had in town.
In the plus side - you can have free warm bread which is great.
Specialty cocktails are good but the lack of price on the menue and $15 price tag is a bit ridiculous for what it is.
Christine James
Food was excellent as always and the staff are awesome!
Christy Pawlik
I had blackened chicken with red beans and rice. Way too much for one person. The others had pasta dishes. All were delectable! Great atmosphere and staff!
Nicholas Notestine
I had breakfast here right as it opened, there were only a few other folks here, so it was pretty quiet. Service was good, and the food was so perfect for after a night out in New Orleans. It's a nice building with a good location, although the toilet in the bathroom was literally ripped out of the wall... I'm guessing after someone got a little to rowdy the night before. Will make it a point to have breakfast again there whenever I get a chance to go back to N.O.
Patrick Mckelvey
I came and order the fancy sounding cheese sticks for $9 and got 2 and chocked that up to I should have asked first. When our lunch came out my bacon egg and cheese croissant was cold, eggs weren't fully cooked, cheese wasn't still cold and I lost my appetite. My daughter opted to get only fries and would get something from somewhere else later but her fries were under cooked and cold like they had been sitting for a while. I'm sure their food is normally good and it had a nice atmosphere but I don't think I'll be coming back.
Malkijah Rashad
Great dish, ok service. I tried the St Nona Catch it was delicious. I also ordered a cranberry juice with it. The juice needed a lot of water... It was too strong. The service was bit slow. My fiance ordered a half and half it wasn't as good as the St Nona Catch but it was edible. The place is quite nice with its special features the windows and door ways.
Mark Barrientez
We went on a Saturday morning and the staff were very accommodating to our group of +12. I had a mimosa(double or nothing) and breakfast. All was very good. The madi gras pasta was very good. Our waitress was very interactive with our group and made it that much more of an experience.
Flexibility, Fun And Great Pay
I went here for lunch and had the blackened snapper. I enjoyed the meal so much that I actually went back for dinner. I had the Chicken Crawfish dish and a Caesar salad. I felt both meals were quite good. The thing I enjoyed the most other than the atmosphere was my servers which had personality and obvious southern hospitality. I will definitely eat here again.
Randal Miller
If you find yourself wandering the French quarter the you should definitely give this place a try.some of the best red beans and rice I have ever had.my buddy had the chicken creole one of his favorite southern dishes and was also blown away at the full flavored dishes there.I will definitely be back for more.
MsQueen Shelle
We had a wonderful experience. We wanted a nice- sit down type of lunch. It was not over crowded. We had plenty of room to social distance and dine comfortably. The bathrooms were clean! I am so glad I went before we started walking the strip. I’m glad my mother always said, just try before we leave!!!! Everyone had something different. Party of 6. No one complained at all. Try the trio if you’re unsure. The fried shrimp poboy was a hit. It’s only about 6 inches. No more than 8. The burgers are big, but not huge. They could have more gumbo in the bowls, but still delicious. Creole style. I had a strawberry daiquiri to get my lips ready to get drunk as we toured the strip. The Cajun pasta was so good they were dipping French fries in the extra sauce. It’s spicy without being overly hot for no reason hot. I recommend this place if you just want to eat nice without paying so much money to get a little food. I would go back.
Brandon Puccio
I had a great experience here with my family. Service was prompt and helpful.
There was a good variety of food that was quite delicious. We stopped by for lunch and had some po boys and croissant sandwiches.
I would recommend this as a place to stop.
Ran Be
There menu had good amount of choices. There service was excellent. The food was very good at a good price. I would go again next time in town. I liked very much.
Chelsea Church
Great place to grab a bite! They serve breakfast all day, which is important after a night out in NOLA. The red beans and rice were great and their fried green tomatoes have a great cornmeal breading topped with a creamy remoulade. Their French toast was made with classic French bread and cinnamon. Our server Kenneth was fantastic and so upbeat! We'll definitely be back!!
Aims
We stop in here every chance we get! My mom lives in the area and this is one of her favorites. I always get the Gumbo Deux with a salad and bloody mary. It's excellent. The drink is like a meal in itself but so good. If I have to choose between the 'deux', the chicken and sausage is the best. The french bread is THE BEST. The wait staff is superior. I can't remember the name of our server last time but we've gotten his a few times and just love him. (Cajun guy from an hour south of there) Friendly, funny, and always on top of things. We really like this place.
Lucas Mejia
Was expecting bad service based on reviews but was pleasantly surprised with good service and even better food.
Becca Stock
Stopped in for brunch/lunch during a storm. I really enjoyed the environment with the open windows. I had the gumbo which was excellent and an omelet that was "meh". It was the cajun omelet and I honestly felt like it was just an omelet with salsa dumped on the top. However, my friend had a veggie omelet that she really enjoyed...so maybe I just made the wrong choice.
Aarti Bansal
Finally a place in New Orleans that serves vegetarian creole! It taste like Campbell's Veggie soup with a thin tomato broth with some spices and loaded up with zucchini, peppers, carrots, and other veggies served with rice. It was quite zesty and flavorful as I left a happy empty container! It was fun to get a culinary Creole experience as a vegetarian.
My husband enjoyed the chicken and sausage Gumbo. As my husband isn't a big fan of seafood, I like how there's a variety of meats to choose from. If you want a taste, I recommend getting the "sampler" size, which is actually quite filling.
The extensive menu is a bit confusing After asking the server and reading the menu over multiple times, I was confused on the difference between Gumbo, Jambalaya, and Creole. I wish the menu was a bit more descriptive and had some images. I found out that Gumbo is a stew while Jambalaya is like paella, and Creole is a type of cuisine similar to Cajun.
I wish the New Orleans sampler had some mix and match options to choose from. I'm not a fan of shrimp and would have been nice to be able to substitute some of the options. I'm sure it could have been done, but like to see it offered. I would love to see some vegetarian Jambalaya on the menu!
Overall a great place to get a taste of Creole for meat-lovers, seafood fans, and avid vegetarians.
Justin Carhart
Gumbalaya was good. Kids chicken tenders were good. Kids alfredo pasta was not. Men's room toilet room lock doesn't work, so I had someone walk right in on me. The toilet paper holder cover falls off when you use it. Toilet seat is super loose, so strap yourself down. Prices are reasonable and atmosphere is nice, though.
Steve Heuser (Fly Fishing Wis)
Great food at a good price!
Morgan Troost
Food is actually pretty good even coming from a Nola native. Service was slow but not so bad concidering the scenery is nice. Could be much better if they would trade bourbon street gross drink menu for some classics and the lose dance club music.
Kayla Davis
The only good things were the long island ice tea and service. The fried green tomatoes were good as well.
J.D. Nutall
Food was Average, All taste the same. All the Food was prepared with the same breading. Thankful my Friends took me out for lunch or I would be upset after paying these inflated prices
Erin Schroettinger
The service at Pere Antonine is the best service we had during our week long stay in New Orleans. Staff is incredibly friendly and eager to give you an authentic New Orleans dining experience. We shared the Taste of New Orleans sampler and it was outstanding. Try the bread pudding! You won't be disappointed.
Jackson Hudson
Love this place! The staff is so fun and always accommodating. Very good seafood, oddly very good paneed chicken. Love their spinach artichoke dip. But it's the wait staff that keeps us coming back. Ohhhhh, and the yummy cocktails. Can't wait to go back to our favorite city and one of our favorite restaurants.
Laurie McLaughlin
The restaurant is clean, quaint and quiet enough to have a family meal and conversation. Our meals were excellent and I felt the prices for the amount and quality of food is fair, unlike many other places in the area. Top it off with excellent service. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.
Kim H.
I've had consistently good poor boys here (catfish and shrimp ), this visit, I tried a cup of seafood Gumbo (decent, well seasoned) and the spinach/crab/Artichoke dip (meh, can get better elsewhere). Service was fine, I like this place because it's not noisy and not over run with tourists.
Amanda Ponder
The gumbo (both of them) are delicious! So is the artichoke spinach dip!! So yummy! The crab cake is meh... it was ok at best. Very friendly and courteous staff!!
Bekah Yepez
Food was good, drinks were delicious, the waiter never checked on once and when he was present he did not act happy to be there. He wasn't rude, just didn't give off a friendly persona.
Nate Bolton
Dined here on our weeks vacation in NOLA twice! Great atmosphere, great food and drinks and just a good time all around. Would definitely recommend Pete Antoine when dining here!
Carol Mcdonald
We stopped in to get cool but found some awesome people working. Stephanie was the bartender and she was great. Plus we meet one of the waiters named Kenneth and he was so friendly.
Kathy Graner
Kenneth made the experience perfect. He was over the top efficient and lovely. We did not want to leave. The food was fabulous. A great way to experience a taste of New Orleans. Never have we enjoyed a server more....he made us feel at home. Thanks Kenneth!!!!
George Patton
Red Beans n Rice, Gumbo were memorable! Jackie did great as our server! An obvious professional.
Curtis Tunson
No clue about the restaurant, grabbed a to-go margarita to cool off during our walk around the French quarter. Drink was small, not very strong and kinda overpriced

We ate here at the beginning of the French Quarter Fest, so it was very busy. As such, it was understaffed. However, they did quite well considering. We had the Shrimp Creole, the Blackened Shrimp Salad, and the Club Sandwich. The Creole and Salad were tasty. I would be happy to return to this place.

Food was excellent and waitress was very helpful and even helped me choose which of the two items I was torn between. Two complaints. Restroom smelled like urine which makes me wonder how often it gets cleaned? Second is that it was extremely unappetizing to see someone from the back come up and sit at a table and then farmer blow his nose and not wash his hands.
Jeffrey Cox
Had the Red beans and rice, very good! My wife enjoyed her meal as well. Service was quick with a friendly staff.

kind of a tradition with the family when you've been coming there for 20 years they do a good job with the food, there are so many other breakfast places in the quarter gets lost in the mix, but the food is good waitress was pleasant. coffee hot, when the weather's right the windows are open and you can watch the people go by worth a visit

The pasta was to die for! Jambalaya was excellent. Highly recommend if your in new orleans to go here you won't be disappointed.

Walked right in and they sat us right away at about 2 in the afternoon. I ordered the alligator and the waiter told me it wasn't going to be good this time of year. I ordered it anyways because I like the texture of the gator (a little chewier than normal). What came out was 4 pieces of gator tail which was supposed to be a half pound. When I lifted the plate it certainly didn't feel like a half pound but I did not have a scale so I am only assuming it was and they didn't rip me off. But it certainly was not enough for $16. Next we ordered the gumbalya (the waiter seemed it was okay to give us crackers he dropped on the ground) which is very delicious and worth the $12.

Staff was friendly, space felt limited. We were seated rather quickly on a Tuesday night ,8pm. I definitely enjoyed the Mardi Gras pasta, I recommend. Others tiered the New Orleans platter that came with a desert, the bread pudding for me was too sweat but flavorful. The gambo soup it came with was tasteful. I would just caution the utensils, some were dirty and we had to ask for clean ones. Other than that good place for friends or family to come eat.

Not sure how this place has received bad reviews. The whole menu is available breakfast, lunch and dinner. Crawfish & crab cakes were outstanding, seafood gumbo excellent and the BBQ shrimp & grits were among the best I've ever had. Give it a shot.

The food was okay. Not great, not terrible. We only ate there because we stopped in for takeaway drinks and left our card, so we had to go back and the kids were tired so we just decided to eat and rest. Our waiter was friendly and polite, but the wait was quite long. It was okay for somewhere we just stopped at random but I won't make an effort to go back.

Open air restaurant with people watching. This was a nice break during my visit. Tried red beans and rice. This was very flavorful. Nice spice to the sausage. Service was relatively quick.
Lisa Pigg
Really great food, but the service was bleh! Our waiter, T corrected the way I pronounced something and wasn't that friendly. Maybe he was having a bad day. I would come back but definitely need a different waiter.
Cory Sorel
This was my wife's and my second time eating here and we still thoroughly enjoyed it. I've order the Half and Half Combination both times and loved it: rich, buttery etoufee and flavorful shrimp creole. She ordered the solo etoufee and added a little butter to flavor but enjoyed it otherwise. Highly recommend the Fromage Creole for a starter. Kenneth, our server, was delightful and quick. Not sure if we've gotten lucky on both our visits or if the negative reviews just caught bad days, but we'll definitely be returning on our next trip to the city.

Food was great and served in a timely manner. Prices were reasonable and the atmosphere was delightful and the restaurant staff was very attentive. I will eat there again when I'm back in NOLA next time.
Greg Koszut
Very good food served well and at a more reasonable price than some other places for sure. They're shrimp and crawfish dishes are divine. We always stop when we are here.
Stephanie Manley
Stopped here with a large party. The food was good, and the wait wasn't too long. We all had po boys and they were prepared well. No complaints here, I would go back in a heart beat.
Kimberly Francis
You have to get the beignets banana foster fries!!!
Kuv Ah
Good food, nice atmosphere, chill spot.
Tina Tillman
Great food, great service.
Vanessa Tomada
The drinks and service was amazing but the food was not good. The menu didn't reflect what we ordered at all, we actually thought we got the wrong things. I had the crawfish ettouffe and instead of getting 'crawfish tails cooked in butter served with rice, vegetables, and seasoned with cajun spice' I received a brown slop with no distinguishable vegetables and miniscule crawfish. It was expensive too so we felt rather ripped off.
Larry Austin
We didn't have the best experience there. The food took really long and it was not really hot. The jumbalaya was amazing however.
Francie Kivel
Fried green tomatoes and shrimp appetizer is fantastic! Use as an entree or as an appetizer for 2-4 to share! Service was very good (Monday lunch).
Megumu Jansen
I was a little worried at first because of all of the negative reviews, but my experience was very different. The food came within 20 minutes. I got the jambalaya and it was good! Price is also reasonable.
Vera Cervantes
Food was very good, service too. Had a window seat enjoyed being entertained by the activities outside. What we did not appreciate is a cold draft, the food got cold very quickly. Had to put our jackets on.
Dharma Gansel-Cramer
Always come back for the Banana Foster Benigt fries- this time did not disappoint! Our server, who was exceptional, suggested bacon with the BFBFs- made the late afternoon snack all that much more. We also ordered a bowl of gumbalaya- which was quite good, would have liked it slightly thicker - but each gumbo pot has a slightly different spoon. The decor is pleasing, but it feels a little disheveled after the lunch rush. Will come again for this BFBFs!!!
Dario Guevara
That fried mozzarella stick with the spicy creole sauce... Yummmmmm. The rest, mehhh. The server was super nice and attentive. But super slow and chill
Barbara Ammons
Since my favorite gumbo spot, The Gumbo Shop, is closed due to the pandemic, I was in search of more another gumbo spot. I chose this place. The Gumbo was delicious and the service was nice. I'd eat here again!
Nicholas Wisniske
This might be one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the entire world. The atmosphere is great, it's in a great location in the French Quarter, and their gumbolaya is legendary. A must try for anyone eating in NOLA!
Tony Romo
The cheese sticks were amazing, service was great, the pasta I had was the Margi Gras Pasta, the pasta was a bit over cooked and the plate could be a bit more flavorful. The Ponchetrain pasta was good, there was a little piece of shell in the crab cake but otherwise good.
Michela Winters
Pere Antoine’s is my absolute favorite restaurant in the Quarter! I’ve been coming here for years. The staff is amazingly friendly and the food is outstanding. I highly recommend the Gumbo and Etouffe! If there is a line, it is well worth the wait.
Bruce Z
Good food, VERY slow but courteous service. Nice seafood gumbo.
Michael Reed
Nice place to go in the morning for breakfast and hair of the dog drinks. The lady running the place couldn't be nicer and the people watching while drinking the morning away was great.
A Dupre
Fresh tasting seafood, the best salad ingredients we found, polite service. The food is delicious, staff friendly and professional. Not as pricey as many of the restaurants in the area. Excellent choice in the Quarter.
Kyle Miller
The food here is just great! The last two times I came to New Orleans, we came here. And you can bet we will be back for a third! The alligator here is pretty great!
Jennifer Hood
Excellent food great service
Dennis Snow
We went in around 10pm on a Tuesday night. The server was friendly and attentive and had great suggestions. The starters were awesome! I had a cup of chicken and andouille gumbo which was incredible and my fiancé got the fromage creole app which was really good too. Entrées and cocktails were great and the banana foster beinget was to die for. Great coffee too. Highly recommended!
Elizabeth Irwin
One of our favorite places to go in New Orleans! Last time we visited we ate there twice. The frozen lemonade is amazing, but the best thing on the menu hands down is the bananas foster beignet fries.
Seth Lauredet
The food was excellent. I was surprised considering it was in the French Quarter of New Orleans. The server was attentive and never let my glass get empty. This place is a must for both locals and tourists
Angela MacMillan
My children and I had a lovely evening meal in Pere’s with a lovely waiter called Evyn. He was very attentive and helped with our choices especially when two of my children were a bit stuck with what to chose. My 13 yr old son said that his Etouffee was the best thing about New Orleans so far.
Thank you for great food and prompt friendy service Evyn.👍
Daniel Rivera
First of all I thought I was going to Antoine's so you better check that. The place is very good. You get a good service, food it's ok but the desserts are to die for. It's very centric and you get to any place very quickly. It has an outdoor area with taller chairs and a fountain feels very warm.

THE BEST PO BOY IN NOLA!

We got lucky! We had a nice time. The food was good. The service was good. The drinks were good. Everything was good. Nothing was great, but nothing was bad. The highlight was the oyster shooter. Yum! lol
Kayla Crockett
We loved our fried green tomatoes and blackened catfish. Good service, food came in a reasonable amount of time, and was quite tasty. No complaints here.
Jim Allan
Lena: best waitress in town.
Elina Gorelkin
We ordered the Decatur gator, Mushroom Tchoupitoulas and the Crawfish Etoufee. We topped it off with the Banana Foster Beignet fries. Everything was very good. Only thing is, would have loved to hear some music here and not a rattling fan.
Emily I
Not sure if this place is not worried about having good food because they know tourists are not returning customers or what. Fried catfish and oysters were disappointing. Fries were meh. The St Peter (to go) was good and the staff were all very friendly.
Autumn Montgomery
Stopped in after completing the Witches Brew Walking Tour and had two appetizers, the Mushroom Tchoupitoulos and the Angels on Horseback. Two of the most amazing sauces ever to make it onto food. Add in the truly wonderful service by our waitstaff, Kenneth, and it was worth every penny. We will be electing to stop at Pere Antoine's upon every visit to the French Quarter.
Robert Gomez
The experience was wonderful. Like being in a movie, which stands to reason because it's been in a few. Great food. Great service. Great vibe. I highly recommend this place if you're in town.
