Reviews of Palace Café
Visitivity Inc.
Great place! Missy, our bartender and server was amazing. She had great stories and made great food recommendations. Though I don't know how you could go wrong here on food, it was all delicious. We started with the Crab cheesecake which was unlike anything we'd had before. Followed by steak and a andouille crusted fish. Finished our night off with chocolate mousse and peach shortcake. Do yourself a favor and try this place while you wander on Canal Street, you'll thank yourself you did!

Exquisite building beautiful interior. We got great service, nice view from the balcony upstairs sitting. Absolutely affordable priced French menu.
We shared two appetizers, had wonderful bread with whipped up butter ( for me that's a plus) and delightful dessert. Even the mussle appetizer was plenty and fulfilling.
Very nice ambiance!

It’s been years since I’ve n been to the Palace Cafe! I was excited to attend a work dinner function. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. Urick (probably spelling his name wrong) was awesome and always checked on us. The food was delicious. I also had the pleasure of meeting the cook Thomas Henderson on the way out and told him everything was cooked to perfection. I will definitely have to come back and with my friends and family.

Fancy white linen spot in gorgeous building that made a nice show of the Bananas Foster.
Try the crabmeat cheesecake - looks amazing and is kind of like a slice of very light quiche.
Not recommended if you’re in a hurry (for example to go to nearby music or theatre venues). We gave it 2 hours before our show but felt stressed that we had to chase our waiter.

Delicious dinner! We didn’t save room for dessert but definitely try the crab cheesecake it’s legit a game changer. Sean was awesome, a super good server. Great experience all around.

The Crabmeat Cheesecake is just mind-blowing, and it's an item I've never seen on a menu before. An easy must have if you step into this place. My wife's marinated chilled crab legs were also good if you're feeling more like that. Unfortunately, the oyster dome soup didn't taste like anything, really. Just felt heavy with no payoff. The croissant ring in it was so nice especially when dipped, but the soup had no rich flavor. As for the steak, well we went for the chef selection cut which we were told was supposed to be even more tender than the tenderloin. Nope. It was extremely chewy, and kind of a chore to eat. My Shrimp Etouffe was pretty good tbh, as was the risotto.
Service was excellent and seating upstairs was great as well.

I really enjoyed the experience at Palace Café. The gumbo was tasty and the atmosphere was very nice. Our server, Sean, did a really cool presentation when he made the Bananas Foster that included the history of the dessert. The location is good too being within a short walk to Bourbon Street. The restaurant is surrounded by shopping, hotels, and other places to eat so it is in a nice location.

Another excellent restaurant from the Dickie Brennan family. We had excellent service from the wait staff. Very professional, friendly and timely. We started with the turtle soup, which was really good. It had a "tangier" flavor than others we've tried. Delicious. The appetizers were the fried oysters that had an excellent bed of spiral celeriac with a mild but flavorful sauce. The other appetizer was crabmeat cheesecake. It was delicate as a cheesecake should be. The added crabmeat was amazing. We've tasted nothing like this. So good. One of our main entrees was the wild mushroom pasta with fried oysters. It was one of the best pasta dishes balanced with the wild mushrooms and the cream sauce. So good! Our other two guests ordered the pecan crusted drum fish on mashed celeric with a simple reduced Crystal cream sauce and honeyed carrots. So delicious. We ended our meal with the famous Bread pudding with white chocolate sauce. This meal was exceptional and we will return for another amazing meal.

Food here was amazing! My favorite meal in all of NOLA was the Anduille fish in this restaurant. Everything else was delicious, with an emphasis on the profiteroles. The place is very accessible and inexpensive.

This place is definitely a must stop and try location. The Cajun potatoes and omelet was amazing. The potatoes had a perfect consistency of seasoning and. The eggs were fluffy and were not burned or overcooked. If you stop by in New Orleans definitely try this restaurant.

Love Palace Cafe! A wonderful experience from start to finish. Peri greeted me in a very welcoming fashion and guided me to a beautiful table in the dining room. DJ was an amazing server and made my birthday experience worth remembering! A wonderful bananas foster tableside and a delicious duck hash for the main brunch course. The menu was exciting and I will be back to try more! Noel was the manager and stopped by to say hello and wish me a happy birthday. Everyone was kind and gracious and made my birthday brunch fabulous. The Duck Bar and the rum collection are also stellar. Would absolutely recommend for any special occasion or just treat yourself to a delicious meal.

We came hear 4 years ago when traveling and it was great this trip even better. Had the duck liver appetizer, it is amazing. Never eat here without having the signature Brennen’s family turtle soup. I even had two on this trip! Alec the waiter was attentive and so nice. Great Job Palace Cafe we will be back.

Omg!! A must stop while in New
Orleans. Food was amazing! Service was okay, but the flavor and food make up for the not so good service. I still rated them 5 stars because those shrimps Melted in my mouth. Will definitely go back again.
Izzy Lin
Great food and service! The salade Lyonnaise that came with the duck confit was one of the best salad I've ever eaten in the States! When our waiter was busy, the manager came to assist and took care of us. Also great ambience, makes you feel like being in an European café.
Barbara Watzke
We went to the weekend Jazz Brunch with our family, a group of seven, to celebrate a milestone birthday. Parking was convenient at the Marriott Hotel one block over. (It was validated at the cafe) The jazz band was amazing and even went to a few tables to play requests. Our waiter Vincent’s the best!
We started with the crab meat cheesecake as appetizer for the table which was perfect. Two of us got the turtle soup and gumbo yaya both flavorful and done right. We ordered a variety of entrees. If you’re really hungry, the eggs Benedict with pork debris is for you; also the shrimp and grits was a crowd pleaser. I had the omelette and it was perfect.
The birthday girl had a Bread pudding with chocolate sprinkles and we got an extra apple 🍎 tart which were all shareable.
Both were served with absolutely the best Homemade vanilla bean ice cream I’ve ever had . (see picture).
I can’t say enough about how amazing the atmosphere and food are for a brunch event!
Stephen Togher
Tasty food and beverages. Shrimp Tchefuncte was awesome. Fried oyster salad was delicious. Bread pudding was great. Good coffee too.
Bertha Lee
Food was delicious, thought the chicken could have been cooked a little. The bread pudding was AWESOME with the lemon sauce. My husband got the steak it was tender and we'll seasoned. The gumbo was delicious also. Will definitely return.
brandon schwartz
Palace cafe did not disappoint!! Started with crabmeat cheesecake, a must try! Andouille crusted fish was just as good, and finished with the white chocolate bread pudding.
Rob Tulloh
Enjoyed brunch during Mardi Gras 2023. We especially enjoyed the trio of musicians and bananas foster prepared tableside. All 4 of us enjoyed our respective meals.
Keepsake Memories
We had an excellent experience here. Our family ordered several dishes but the star was the crab cheesecake appetizer. Service was also great and we enjoyed the soft piano music/environment. It was definitely worth the money.

This is hands down THE best restaurant in all of New Orleans. Emily D was our waitress and I will forever be thankful for the personal experience she gave me and my wife/kids. I need to state that before going into how amazing their food is because she truly made this a 5 star experience with her sincerity and attention to all details.
We are from Naples, FL and love to travel/eat but have never been to New Orleans. From Vegas to NYC to our own hometown, we’ve eaten at hundreds of restaurants as that is ‘our thing’. Never had we had meals as delicious as the ones at Palace Cafe. I had the gulf fish with crawfish on top, a custom entree recommended by Emily D, and my wife had the same thing without the crawfish on top. These meals were just absolutely and unequivocally amazing.
The crab cake cheesake sounded like the one thing I would never in my life eat. Crab…..cheese….cake? My wife insisted. The waitress insisted. The assault on my taste buds that this delicious appetizer did was truly something I will have to come back to New Orleans for. Absolutely amazing!
The entire staff was excellent, the food was outstanding, the environment was beautiful, and Emily D gave a 5 star experience to top it all off. Do NOT come to New Orleans without going to Palace Cafe. It is a must do!
Zhanhan Yu
Highly recommended. Food is great. I was expected it would be a bit salty, but not at all. Nice service and vibe.
Charles noles
My wife and I went. She had the pasta and I had the filet. She was disappointed in the way her pasta tasted. My steak was tasty, but overcooked. I ordered medium it came out charred and well done. Overall the place was alright, but for the price it should be on point.
Janet B
Excellent experience for Sunday brunch. Had grilled prawns, shrimp bisque, pork & eggs Benedict. Everything was wonderful including service and atmosphere. So glad this was highly recommended to us.

I attended a big group dinner last night in the upstairs private room. The women in charge, Kathleen, took care of us so well. She was attentive, kind, and professional. She handled such a large group with grace and care. Also and young man, I believe his name was Caleb, was one of the servers and I cannot talk highly enough about his positive energy and prompt service. He was just happy to be at work and it was refreshing to experience his joy on the job. What amazing 2 employees to have working for you.
P.S. The food was amazing as well! Thank you Palace Cafe, Kathleen, and Caleb for a wonderful experience!

A NOLA Palace indeed!
This was the most deliciously epic Bananas Foster presentation I've ever experienced (see my recently uploaded vlog in the video section)! I was visiting NOLA (2019) celebrating my bday, and was treated/entertained by the most charming server, Sean. And the Bananas Foster made me take my time, melted ice cream and all, just so I could savor the lawd haf merci flava & love in which it was prepared
As I type this from the other side of the world, I'm blushingly beaming on how glorious the entire experience was. And I truly hope Sean, and the Palace Café are thriving beautifully, and I definitely cherish my experience there as part of making my Bday NOLA celebration then, epic AF! Thank yawl!

This place was wonderful! We absolutely loved the frozen banana foster cocktail, definitely recommend it as a dessert! I got the andouille crusted fish, it was well cooked and extremely flavorful. Also had great service and it’s a great atmosphere.

We got a burger and prosciutto brie sandwich. First of all the selection wasn’t the best. The free bread you get at the beginning was enough to wait for the main meals. The burger was soo good, I was upset I didn’t order it. But what I got was a bit disappointing, the bread was so hard to eat, the ham wasn’t prosciutto and it was just not worth it, at all.
Harold Schneider
Fancy restaurant with Southern style cuisine. Table cloth and cloth napkins. Stemmed glassware, 2 forks. You get the picture. Their fish has a strong fish taste and soft. Not firm like a salmon or tuna. My dining partner found a couple of bones while eating it. My hamburger was good and the fries were so so. Overall it was okay, just not the choices I would have liked.
Daniel Krick
A very busy well run and staffed restaurant. If you want professional wait staff this is your place. Don't forget to have their world famous Bannanas Foster. You won't regret it.
Heather Shuga
WOW! We came here for dinner before going back home from honeymoon. Every bit was delicious! We had to sit at the bar since the rest of the place was taken for reservations, but the bartender was nice, quick, attentive, and enjoyable to have. My husband got the burger and I got the andouille crusted fish. Everything was perfectly cooked and amazingly tasty. We both got a bananas foster for dessert and it was heavenly! This place is highly rated for a reason!
Bernard Ngie
Good food has a special place in my heart and if you are ever in this city, this is a must try spot for some amazing delicious food. Please make sure to try Crabmeat Cheesecake, Steamed Mussels. Cheers Juan for taking care of us today. We truly appreciated your service.

Amazing experience!! We came here for my birthday and it definitely made my birthday special. Katelyn and Juan are great servers. They both have a warming and happy personality. Food was delicious. I loved the atmosphere. We will be back!

They have a really great happy hour. We had potato andouille croquettes that were amazing. Then the banana foster was perfect!! They cook it right next to the table so make sure you camera is ready to film because it's pretty cool how they do it. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful with a lovely staircase. We sat upstairs and we can look down at the beautiful architecture and also at the bar that has 137 bottles of rum. Definitely a must try in New Orleans.

My family of 4 ate at Palace Cafe recently. Our server was the sweetest. Good was running a bit slow overall. There was an issue with my daughter’s meal so when the other plates arrived she was told her would be out shortly. Sadly everyone had finished their meal before hers was brought out. A manager was sent to our table and by that time her meal had arrived so she was happy and eating. I found it odd that nothing was offered for a situation like this at an establishment such as Palace Cafe. Our server felt the same.
Amanda
Such a great breakfast! We had the mushroom quiche and I literally made myself sick because I couldn't stop eating it! SO good. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful but we opted for a seat outside. I definitely recommend stopping here for a bite!

Joey - "What's not to like? Cheese? Good! Mushrooms? Good! Crab? GOODDDD!!!"
Creme brulee was perfectly done. I really wanted a second one but already had 2 pieces of crabmeat cheesecake along with everything else 😭
The lady that served us here was the best I've ever had anywhere, and every one else was so so caring and attentive 😍
Brenda L. Galeas
Awesome! Great food and great service by Nigel! Wonderful evening! Worth the wait,. Bartender made excellent drinks while we waited.
Kathy Wilson
Great dinner atmosphere. Highlight was the acapela singing by a group of gentlemen who walked in and sang golden oldies and requests
Winfred Mitchell
My experience the food was warm and would have been better hot. Possibly.
Larry Moore
I was there for Halloween Weekend with my wife, family and friends and had a medical emergency while there. Thank you to the staff for helping to take care of me and being so comforting to my wife. I was completely out of it but she said you guys were awesome. Happy to say I was able to see another sunrise!!

We had our rehearsal dinner here a couple of weeks ago and I’m so glad that we booked Palace Cafe. The food, drinks, service, and ambience (NOLA vibes) were a great start for our wedding weekend.
Addendum: We hosted our rehearsal dinner and the food was excellent. Wish we had a more private area because the acoustics were really loud in the restaurant so we couldn't really interact with the other tables in our party (we had 4 large rectangular tables). The customer service was fantastic before we hosted; they kept us updated on any weather damages or allowed us to book months in advance which was very helpful for us as out-of-towners. Thank you for everything!
Jennifer Kalanquin
Everything was INCREDIBLE! We came during happy hour and ordered the oyster artichoke dip and it was divine. We also had the burger- cooked perfectly!! And the seafood gumbo. Yum! The white chocolate bread pudding melts in your mouth. Wow!! Our waitress was so welcoming and helpful!
Jay McLellan
Great service, great food. This is a Dickie Brennan restaurant - and the Brennan family are one of the city's finest restaurantuers. You can't go wrong. Classic and new cocktails to start. Beautiful facility. Go see them when you're in New Orleans.
Jenny Lawless
Mouthwatering, finger licking delights await you at this historic restaurant on Canal. The crab cheesecake is a must try if your in town. Every dish we tried was authentic and delectable. The bartenders were funny and friendly and the service was A+. You should definitely try those place on your next stop in the Big Easy!
Danielle Levitt
The andouille crusted grilled fish was incredible. The sauce complemented the dish perfectly, and even the vegetables were done well. The waitstaff was attentive and made sure that everything came out to their standard.
2022 update: SO glad this place reopened! The hours are different and they are closed Mondays. Best parking spot nearby, in my opinion, is Premium Parking P193. All the food was bomb: Andouille Crusted Fish (even better with crawfish on top), Chicken Roti, Strawberry Shortcake, and White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Drinks shown are Island Life and Flying Tiger Jucee Pale Ale. Sean was an excellent server - helpful, attentive, and friendly.
John Harvey
My wife and I had dinner. She ordered the fish special which was ok but a bit dry. I ordered the Shrimp Tchefuncte- this dish had good flavor but some of the shrimp still had remnants of shell that hadn’t been removed- and there were only 5 shrimp. This dish was more an appetizer size.
For desert we shared the bread pudding. We didn’t even eat half of it between ourselves. It was quite bland and simply quite disappointing. When our waitress came by she saw we hadn’t eaten much of it and she asked if we liked it- when we said no- she didn’t know what to say as if she didn’t believe us. We aren’t complainers so we just paid and left. For all the talk, this restaurant is not what it once was. I would definitely skip this restaurant as there way too many options out there who care more about the food quality.
Jorge Kopel
This was a gem I found wandering around New Orleans. The food was exceptional, the atmosphere was fantastic and our server Pam put everything over the top. This wasn't dinner, this was an experience. If you find yourself in New Orleans, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to dinner here. You won't be disappointed.
Emily M
Had dinner here while on vacation. The food is good but the service is amazing! We had Jimmy as our waiter and he was fantastic. Couldn’t ask for a better person to have!
Allison M. Gardner
Ambience was nice! Service was good but not like it use to be. Waitress wasn't too knowledgeable of menu items, she forgot to place one of the dinner meals and then proceeded to tell us that she thought she was having a medical emergency (very TMI) prob bc we ordered the bananas foster near closing time. Kinda weird experience overall. Def not what it use to be.
Gumbo was great.
Harmonese Pleasant
For me Palace Café food is hit or miss. Im assuming it's dependent on the cook. Some days I go and it's great— other days not so much. Service is usually great when I visit. I would say this place is just a decent location to have lunch at. Wouldn’t go for anything romantic as there’s no real ambiance. Overall it is a nice spot, though. One of my faves on the menus is the gumbo yaya!
Jurgen Schrodl
Our experience wasn’t as good as others, unfortunately
The service was friendly. The food just ok. The crab cheesecake was partly cold. The main course was also not served hot.
The dessert apple tart was not good and I would not reco it. It was like a deconstructed tart … also undercooked. I enjoy trying new things and very rarely write a post like this but this simply did not work well.
Jordan Offutt
This was an incredible dining experience. Naturally, things aren't normal for any of us during this pandemic, but they still made for an excellent dinner service. The greeters were very attentive and upfront with explaining the changes due to COVID.
Our server was fabulous. He had a great personality, was knowledgeable about the menu and never let our water glasses run empty.
Food - We ate from the Coolinary pre fixe menu and everything was fabulous. The crab cheesecake was rich and silky. I hadn't had a savory cheesecake prior to this, but I definitely will again. The seafood gumbo has a perfect cajun seasoning balance. The shrimp tchfuete.. yeah, spelling on that one.... had a layered spice flavor that just had a feel good depth to it. The andouille crusted fish had a very light flavor to it, but the crystal buerre blanc was out of this world flavorful. For dessert, we shared a white chocolate bread pudding. Definitely one for two people was enough. Super rich and satisfying.
The decor and ambiance had a very classic feel. You won't be disappointed.
NICKY Pierre
Greatly enjoyed our meal & the ambiance. Gumbo was very good, bananas foster never disappoints, Juan was very attentive & never flustered. It was The Kidds first time out with fine dining, he was impressedby the chocolate mousse.
Gregory Bushong
Excellent place to enjoy top-of-the-line New Orleans style cuisine inside or outside in the patio during cooler days. Chad is a great bartender, and he recommended dishes to our taste!! Highly recommended!
Leboria York
EveryThing was excellent... From the wait staff to the young lady greeting us and the management
Michael Cook
Fantastic menu filled with a great selection of delicious food choices.
Early evening Happy Hour menu items are all good including specialty cocktails and desserts.
Our service was perfect and the covid practices are much appreciated with social distancing and hand sanitizer available at the tables.
Miatta Anderson
This place was just beautiful and the food was great. The crab cheese cake was so good
Sabrina Neugent
This place was a hit for all of us...young and old. CRAB CHEESECAKE appetizer, entrees rocked and even the dessert Bananas Foster was incredible. Everyone should Go to New Orleans and eat here!
Greg Cook
Palace Cafe was amazing! One of my favorite New Orleans restaurants. We went on a Saturday afternoon. While we made reservations online, they had tables open with no wait.
Palace Cafe is taking the pandemic very seriously which is nice. Tables are distanced, staff wears mask, hand sanitizer all around including on our table, and we were asked to wear a mask when walking around the restaurant.
I ordered the Chicken and Waffles while my wife ordered the Coolinary menu with Turtle Soap and Pot Pie. We split all the food and it all tasted great!
Overall, great food and awesome customer service in a classic New Orleans restaurant!
Keith U
Excellent service and great tasting food. Our server, James, made sure that we had everything we needed despite the venue being extremely busy.
The outdoor seats had the perfect setting for seeing Canal Street in all its glory. You'll feel like you're in a parisian café.
Their old fashioned drink is also delicious. Get ready to order more than one.
claudia curtis
The 2 appetizers served, turtle soup, gumbo, were warm, not hot. Which became cold a third of the way. The entree came early which the waiter suggested we send back. We specifically asked for it to not be reheated. He said no problem new plates. After our semi hot apps came a reheated plate. My 2 eggs Benedict were both cold and 1 hard boiled egg.. The taste was delicious, but not up to my expectations. My sister's shrimp and grits wasn't hot but verry tasty. Ya'll are too good for these mistakes. 😼
Angalida Simom
Overall my experience was just ok
The menu is pretty basic and somewhat bland. Portions were barely enough.
Ordered shrimp n grits, the shrimp were cooked perfectly but could have used a bit more grits to go with the large shrimp.
Really liked the live music
Tracy Barraza
So we wound up sitting at the bar because we did not make reservations. Every seat was taken. But I did get the best baked brie I have ever had hands down.
Sarah Kinney Wright
Stunning lunch experience. Fun and friendly waitstaff. The duck hash was incredible. I mean brown-butter hollandaise? Just the right amount of bougie.
Madisyn Valdez
This place is always awesome! Great service and food.
Ramani Kutty-Patel
Palace Cafe was one of the highlights of NOLA. Chef John and waiter/bartender Drew took the utmost care of us and truly made the night special. Chef John created a delicious vegetarian dish for my husband and I enjoyed the shrimp tchefuncte. Thank you Palace Cafe for making this part of our honeymoon even more special.
Monte Bertrand
Boy, this could not have been a better experience!
Hospitality was fantastic and personal.
The food was some of the best I've ever had.
Crabmeat cheesecake??!??? Wow! Yum.
Duck confit was perfect.
Everything was just out of this world.
p.s. do yourself a favor and get the bread pudding.

Had truly a great experience today (Thurs, 27OCT22). While in town for a convention, went to Palace for lunch. Finding it closed for lunch, I was met at the door by Ms. Stephanie. She apologized and suggested The Bourbon House down 2 blocks. I lamented I was really looking forward to the Turtle Soup. She quickly starting calling on her phone and said she would bring the soup from The Palace over. Unbelievable hospitality. When we arrived in the front, she was coming in the back with soup in hand. The chef then proceeded to heat our soup. The next thing we knew he was bringing out seafood boudin balls with the soup, too. I did not catch his name but he was extraordinary, as was our server Rydell, and, of course, Stephanie. My associate and I were most impressed with this level of hospitality. I am a Dickie Brennan's patron for life, anytime in The City.

Crab cheesecake was the best. The other food was just OK, but I'll definitely come back to enjoy the jazz, the ambiance, and the rum society!
Ellie Joy P.
Definitely a great place to eat! We easily got a table outside around 1pm. The 2 waiters were a little bit overwhelmed, but they did they best to serve us fast and offer us a unique experience! The food it’s delicious! You got to try it! The dessert were very good too!
Jasmin Sanchez
Great experience for Jazz brunch!
Musicians come to each table and play a song, it’s a real personal experience.
We got the crab cheesecake as an appetizer, def recommend to share!
The dessert was my favorite part. The bananas foster are cooked right in front of you!
Preeti
Came here on Christmas eve in 2020. Tried duck & catfish pecan. They were really different & unique tasting. Loved both of em. Our server-Joe, was very nice, respectful and professional. For the dessert, we had Bananas Foster (famous Louisiana dessert) and it goes without saying that it was the bomb! No wonder, everyone wants to try that. Side tip: Parking is still paid on the side of the road.
Daniel Moran
The final stop on my NOLA culinary experience, this spot had some great dishes all around. I was a big fan of the savory crab cheesecake appetizer, which was as unique as it was tasty. Cocktails were all top notch, and the dessert, white chocolate bread pudding, was quite exceptional. Put this place on your NOLA list!
jamiekaye30
We arrived 30 minutes before serving dinner started, so we started w/a charcuterie board and the house red. The duck was succulent and tasty. It's always a pleasurable experience when we dine here. Our waitress was friendly and very knowledgeable of the entire restaurant drink/food menu and operations. That's always a plus☺️‼️
Romy H.
The service was excellent. Our server was courteous/attentive and the food was tasty. I enjoyed the ambiance. I will definitely go back.
Tanya Newmarch
The only complaint was that we had to remove the shell and head from the shrimp. It's listed as shrimp with the head on, but with the style of food that's served and the atmosphere, tearing food apart shouldn't be a part of the experience.
Anna Otis
Best food in Nola. Loved the crab cheesecake and the banana fosters rum drink. They even gave me the recipe to the pasta dish I had. It was to die for. Went back twice because it was so good!
Brianna Marie
Beautiful place with a great front view of the main strip. Within walking distance of the hotel and right next to plenty of shopping stores. We celebrated a birthday here and the service was amazing. Food was delicious and prepared properly.
Sophea Loche Sar
The food is really good. The foie gras was nice but the toasts were not warm and a little bit hard, perhaps because this starter was almost forgotten. The crane cheesecake was a great discovery! If you have space for dessert, try banana Foster a NOLA specialty!
Michelle Borchard
Summer is my favorite time to go to Palace Cafe bc Temperature Lunch is a solid deal. Great food at an amazing price! This place can be a little noisy but at lowered capacity it's so much quieter (side effect of Covid). You do have to wear a mask when walking around but while seated, you don't. All the staff are wearing masks and they are sanitizing the tables/chairs in between each guest seating. Servers also wore disposable gloves when handling food and I noticed them changing gloves often. Staff were all friendly, accommodating, and seemingly happy to see us.
Noel Scott
This was my favorite meal while I visited New Orleans. Located right on canal street they have outdoor seating as well as upper level seating. The duck bar upstairs is wonderful they specialize in rum and are beyond knowledgeable and have more than 200 kinds of rum. For happy hour they have flights for 7 dollars which is a great deal. The food I loved every bite. They make the banana foster right in front of you.
Matthew Price
Always enjoyable experience and food!
Less open days and less staff right now in September but same great food and quality!
Kris Lacy
What a fantastic breakfast. We ordered off the menu but the buffet looked good. The shrimp and grits were $18 and full of flavor but not too spicy. My wife got the cafe eggs benedict which were very good but not as good as the shrimp and grits (not many things are as good as there shrimp and grits). The staff was wonderful too.
Greg Johnson
The food here was pretty good. The Charcutterie was good. I liked thee cheese. The sauce was pretty good too. I ordered an batter crusted fish with fried oysters. The fish had a nice sauce. It was filling and high protein. It was So New Orleans yhat you couldnt taste the food. I also ordered some turtle soup to go. It was spicy. Overall good
Roger Parkerson
This is a busy place, make a reservation. We saw a it of disappointed people come in and leave because they were fully booked and I can see why. Very friendly staff and quick service. Excellent food, I tried the shrimp and pasta dish and loved it, my wife had the almond catfish, she said it was extremely good. Ad to have the table side prepared bananas Foster. Well worth the $10 and there's enough to share!
Lori Jo Whitehaus
Knowledgeable staff, excellent menu, fantastic rum selection. Had a South American flight of rum plus a dessert specialty rum. The turtle soup and scallops were delicious but the white chocolate bread pudding was the best!

Our server was having an off night because slow and rude isn't their normal style. The food was good maybe a bit salty. The crab cheesecake was delicious as were the fried crab chops!
Nicole Maddox
I'm pretty sure I never really ate food until this moment in life. It's like everything I ever knew about fine food was completely dismantled and my world was recreated. :) (And this is after having lived in New York City for 10 years.) What a wonderful way to end my last night in this yummy city! This place was beautiful, clean, and had awesome ambiance. The andouille crusted fish was AMAZING. My husband hugged our waiter after 3 bites of his braised short ribs. The bananas foster ended the night with a bang. But better than anything was our wonderful waiter Dan. Great sense of humor, super attentive... Everything you could ever ask for in a captain. Thank you, Dan!

The Palace Cafe is delicious. Came here for brunch on Saturday, reservations at 10:30am. Inside the place looks huge with a large circular stairwell in the middle. We immediately got started with the drinks. This place is cool cause they custom make your bloody mary. They have a variety of different infused vodkas and can choose up to 3 for your bloody mary. Then you walk behind the bar and can place whatever you like.... they offer bacon, pickled veggies (cucumbers, carrots, string beans) and if you get the premium bloody mary it comes with 3 shrimps.... which are cooked perfectly. They also offer the same custom order for I believe wine as they have a variety of fruits you can to your glass....pineapple, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries. So I thought that was a nice touch and very different. I've never seen that before.
For the table we ordered the carb claws... so so so good. They were tiny but mighty. A great start to a great meal. The seafood gumbo had a seafood flavor unlike any other gumbo I had throughout my visit to New Orleans. The mussels were large and very visible in the gumbo. For the made course I got the palace burger. The burger was delicious and cooked perfectly. The bread was so soft and yummy. Delish! My sister got the shrimp tchefunte. The shrimp were large and cooked nicely. For my taste I thought it was a bit salty/ over seasoned. But the grits added a nice balance to the dish. To finish the meal off we of course had to get bananas fosters. How could we not. The bananas fosters were made to order table side. A nice line show and the server gave a little history of the creation of the dessert. The desert was fantastic. I couldn't stop eating it! The caramel harden on the ice cream creating a delicious dome. It was the perfect ending to the meal.
Oh I forgot to mention there was a live band playing music which was added to the atmosphere. Very classy touch. They even walked to tables and played for them. I enjoyed it. Great place with great food.

Great place for a meal, or just a dessert.
The cafe offers a classic New Orleans atmosphere right on the French Quarter. Service is prompt and the staff is super attentive and nice!
Don't miss out on the Bananas Foster, which is made table side.
Jason Pierrotti
Stopped in Palace Cafe for dessert after ok service but terrible food at Cook's. I mentioned bananas fosters to my colleague and she said follow me. We went inside on 12/30 Monday night. We were pointed to the desert seating area. Initially we sat where your could watch pastry chefs prepare all desserts (very cool). The bananas fosters is created table side. The bread putting was served on a plate. The party chef impressed while describing each step then hot flashes blast your interests. Both desserts tasted excellent and the service was genuine.

Food Orgasm!!! That is the first words that come to my mind after our lunch at Palace Cafe. We had cocktails, starters , entree and of course dessert. And everything was so delicious, it can’t be described in words or with pictures. My experience is , you can order anything from the menu and be sure it will be one of the best you will have for your New Orleans stay.
However, I would have to mention the crab cheesecake, Egg Benedict and White Chocolate pudding separately. These are must try if you are visiting this place.

Had a lovely Saturday brunch with old and new friends here. We had a great table by the window which would have been fantastic for viewing the parade that went down Canal Street later that afternoon. Previous visits to Palace cafe' had been only for their dessert specialties- Creole Cream cheese Cheesecake and White Chocolate Bread Pudding. I was planning on just getting an entree, but once I heard about the Crabmeat Cheesecake appetizer, (ordered by several at the table)a two course meal it was. If tastes as good as it looks. Next came the Creole Farm Egg Skillet with poached egg, duck confit and roasted root vegetable hash. Say "duck confit" and I'm there! There was a build your own Bloody Mary bar along with some great specialty cocktails and the obligatory Mimosas. The Jazz trio was visiting tables, playing and singing New Orleans themed songs and the place was festooned for the holidays. Lovely.

The Palace Cafe, located on Canal Street next to the Marriott hotel was intended to be a quick lunch option during my recent conference stay. It proved, however, to be my best meal experience while in NOLA. The fish was amazing and the strawberry shortcake was the best I have ever tasted. The service was first class and the decor was classic French. Highly recommend!
Mia Lewis
Absolutely loved the food here! The atmosphere is great as well... Joe is the best waiter I’ve ever had!! By the time we were done, the plates were wiped clean. I’m definitely coming here for seconds!
Lindsey Carrick
So good we came here twice. If you come on a weekend night, make a reservation in advance.
Food is really good and reasonably priced compared to other restaurants in the area. You can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu.
This place is nice inside but not too fancy. Good for casual wear or if you’re more dressy. Wait staff was quick and attentive.
Michael Benissan
We had about a forty minute wait when we arrived for dinner. That time was well spent at the upstairs bar enjoying some cocktails. When eventually seated at our table, we asked for their popular crabmeat cheesecake which was quite tasty. I particularly enjoyed the shrimp tchefuncte entree. The shrimp, mushrooms and rice all had delicious flavors. The service at this elegant restaurant was amazing! I can recall only a few other places where servers have been diligent and attentive to that extent. Thumbs up!
Sarah Hildebrand
The food was amazing! The pork chop was hefty and could feed two people. The bananas foster desert was tasty! Rich enough to split between 4 people. Good service too!
Kodaq G
What an amazing temperature lunch today. The seafood gumbo was bowl licking good and while I didn't know what a goat cheese croquette was...it was simply delicious with the gulf shrimp and sauce and while I was tempted to lick my entre plate I used the bread again. The Cafe is set up for a safe and enjoyable experience.
Anthony Hui
One word, BRILLIANT! I LOVED IT! My experience there was fantastic. The food was AMAZING! Food Paradise should come to this restaurant. The staff were polite and well trained. They made sure we had a fantastic experience. I'm DEFINITELY coming back here no doubt about it.
Tyler Miller
Love this place! The restaurant is beautiful and feels extremely high end. However the nice thing is that there is no dress code, so feel free to come in casual clothes or even swim wear. 😂
The food was phenomenal and the servers were so friendly and helpful.
I recommend this restaurant to everyone!
Daniel Burdiek
Food was great just disappointed with the service waited 45 minutes to be seated then a full 25 minutes for a waiter to take our drink order then another 25 minutes for food order to be taken then waited 45 more minutes for our supper to arrive . When it came t I me for the bill it was there in less than 2 mi Tues
Kent
The interior is beautiful and clean. The staff greeted us promptly and with smiles. Our waitress was amazing and the crabcake cheesecake was awsome. Seriously don't think cheesecake just buy some and thank them later.

Came here for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night with reservations. Love this place ! The wait staff was terrific. I wish I could remember our waitress name she was the best. There was a small hiccup with packaging the left overs but was rectified immediately. The manager came out to speak with us and he was excellent. Also very convenient parking at the Marriott. Valet is only 5$ with a stamp from the restaurant. I would highly recommend. Great atmosphere and delicious food.
Eka Melani
We sat outside so we could people watch. The catfish and the fish of the day (happened to be a sheepface) were tasty. We split the white chocolate banana bread pudding and the waiter was kind enough to served it in halfs so we get equal portion. The only thing is the waiter, though was nice, was also too busy to tend to the tables outside - they should have more people working that area.

Palace Cafe
Beautiful time-period interior with plenty of staff, round lights and ceiling fans with European wicker chairs outside and comfortable southern style white tablecloth service inside. The spiral staircase will draw your eyes upward as you enter the surprisingly large establishment, but don’t let that take your attention away from the intriguing wall art and tasteful hexagonal tile floor. Turn toward the kitchen and you’ll be met with a great view of the line cooks yelling out orders in a steamy stainless steel fortress. Large windows, mirrors, moldings, and layout all give credit to the restauranteurs for playing close attention to detail and creating an atmosphere for pleasurable and lively dining.
The servers are very attentive and cordial, filling glasses with a smile and answering questions about the meal you had only started to consider. Their experience and consideration is also reflected in their attention to detail. Expect a truly enjoyable classic dining experience.
Crab Meat Cheesecake: $11
suprisingly delicious. Surrounded by a rich brown sauce with mushrooms and topped with a small pair of meaty crab claws. The slice of cheesecake itself is beautifully prepared, a crisp shell baked into its exterior with a Quiche-like interior. Save the best for last as the delectable crust serves a flavorful buttery crunch that will leave you smiling and eager to tell your neighbor all about it.
Palace Burger: $15
A tribute to all old-style thick patty restaurant burgers everywhere. If you’ve had your fair share of cheeseburgers, then you should know what to expect from a place like this. If you haven’t, then expect a 1/3lb burger cooked medium to a light charr on both sides. Expect dainty condiments and a nice room temperature bun. It will fill your belly, but it won’t live on in your burger memory after you get up from your seat.
Seafood Gumbo: $9 (small) $15 (large)
Not being a gumbo connoisseur myself, it can be hard to qualify what differentiates good from bad, but from personal taste it was a bit bland and a bit mushy. My guess is that it was made to sit and stay heated for orders. Considering the number of options one has for gumbo all around Nola, i would say this is skippable.
Banana’s Foster: $10
A staple at Palace Cafe, the classic Banana’s Foster is served table-side, flambeau and all. The showy nature of its preparation is sure to catch your eye as you walk in the door, since it is a fan-favorite and served from morning till night.
Orianna Snook
The second Brennan family restaurant experience on our NOLA trip. Again we were not disappointed. The Andouille Crusted Fish was very tasty and the Palace Cochon De Lait Potato Pie was creamy and tender. Our server, Juan, was very attentive.
Kelly Michalak
My partner really enjoyed his banana foster hence the 4. But mine really tasted like alcohol and wasn’t mixed well. Nice roomy place and outdoor seating. Everyone kinda looked miserable but could be the weather 🤷🏻♀️ …
Wendy McGibboney
Crabmeat cheesecake was amazing, full of crabmeat! The staff was friendly and helpful. Nice and comfortable atmosphere. But the kicker was the strawberry shortcake....mmmmm. If nothing else, go get this and a cup of coffee! Totally going back again! (Burger was delicious as was the chicken, both pictured.)
Andrew Kish
Lively and busy place they have excellent happy hour with live music if you go upstairs to the lounge and you can get food service in that area as well. The food is very good and authentic, Louisiana Cajun.
Katy Thompson
Brennan's wouldn't let you down and neither will I.
1) The savory crab cheesecake is fantastic. Period. If you don't get it and someone else at your table does, you will be jealous so just get it.
2) There isn't a bad main on the menu, but if you really liked the amazing roux on your crab cheesecake, ask your waiter what else has that roux in it. I did and wasn't let down one bit. Your waiter will tell you the specials of the day, try them if they sound good.
3) Try not to eat too much bread so you have space for dessert. Speaking of dessert, plan to bring friends and order multiple desserts because they're all good. The Bananas Foster is made a flambe tableside and will offer you a show PLUS deliciousness. If you're remotely on the fence, just buy it because it's worth it. The show alone can inspire kids or make your date a little interesting, especially if your guest has never had it. Honorable mentions include the vanilla creme brulee which tastes world's better than the meh creme brulee you've had in the past and you won't be able to stop eating it, even if you thought you didn't really like creme brulee like me. Also, the bread pudding is surprisingly good, though I will note Commanders Palace has them beat on the whiskey sauce portion. So if you're going to both, get the Foster here and the bread pudding there.
Thomas Hickey
Enjoyed a wonderful breakfast! The Bananas Foster Waffle was excellent! Might have been better if it was topped off with a scoop of ice cream. The pomegranate mimosa was also killer!
Michael Gibby
Great location on canal street, for people watching in the shade. Very fancy with menu that looked like a greeting card and only had a few options. Everything was delicious and our waiter was nice, but the price was a little high compared to comparable breakfasts in mid town. You are paying extra for the location, but I would be glad to return!
Oliver Fullerton
We stopped here a few time during our stay. Casual seats out the front if the weather is nice, and one night we had an antipasti board from the bar upstairs. Champayne by the glass kills it at $17 a glass + tax . But food and beer seemed reasonable
William
Very nice Atmosphere had the breakfast buffet it was small variety of items but with that being said all the food was flavorful, the alligator sausage was great as well as the ham gravy it’s so good over the biscuits. Price is 18$ a person for breakfast buffet as of 12/12/19.
Grayson Smith
Great restaurant. Great steak. Great crab cake. A must if you want to eat fine dining (without a strict dress code) in New Orleans. The bread pudding is to die for also, best I've ever had. Some at the table ordered their own which was smart because we ended up deciding that sharing was a bad idea very quickly.
Kevin Below
We went here for dessert only and got a Brennan's bananas foster, bread pudding and a Bananas foster drink. Everything was super good and the service was also great.
Tracy Yaste
I shuddered in ecstasy when i bit into this. It was the perfect amount of food for a snack to keep me fueled for a bit without weighing me down. It was delicious and amazing and the atmosphere was incredible. If i ever make it back to NOLA I am definitely eating here again!!
Jennifer Adams
Went with a large group. They accepted reservations and were very accommodating. Everyone's food was absolutely delicious. A lot of gluten free options. Was decorated really pretty for Christmas. Highly recommend. The shrimp, scallops and chicken were the crowd favorites.
Jessica McMillian
Friendly staff. Extremely loud atmosphere so if you have a headache or are sensitive to noise proceed with caution. I wasnt impressed with my food (catfish) but my mom loved her scallops and the famous crab "cheesecake".
Ed Frere
Wonderful New Orleans cuisine, the wait staff (Jeff, Ross, & RJ) were very attentive and helpful and we loved our dinner. The crab cheesecake appetizer was an unexpected delight along with the Andouille Crusted Sheepshead fish which had a wonderful muniere sauce. Highly recommended!
Jaelene Cumba
Food is excellent. Happy hour prices available even for the cocktail flights. Proper waiters.
mahesh thoutam
Superb restaurant with affordable prices. They have good holiday specials.
Laura Briscoe
Stellar food. Phenomenal service. Great live music. We came here when the wait was too long at another brunch location and I am so very glad we did. By far my favorite food of this trip. We decided on the Bloody Mary bar and it didn’t disappoint. We also took a chance on the crab cheesecake and I could have died happy right then. This is definitely a place I will visit again as soon as possible.
Stephanie Suchecki
I had a very enjoyable time at this restaurant, and two local people that I randomly met recommended it over Antoines. (Not trying to throw shade, I just wanted some thing a little more affordable but still elegant). This establishment was perfect! Thank you Missy (my waitress/bartender).
Glue Guy
Had two starters... crab meat cheesecake $11 and gumbo $9.00; both signature dishes. Both slightly spicy side and interesting flavors. Crab meat cheesecake is mostly like a shredded crab quesh. Both together make a filling meal. Attentive waiters. Ate outside... inside might have been a better choice with the car traffic but it was nice weather. Lots of open seats at 3:30 pm. Did not know sales tax 11% here. More upscale place than the F Quarter bar area.
Marlo Kerr
I could not suggest this place more for a birthday celebration. You made me feel so special and loved. Sunday jazz brunch is the way to go. Keep doing what you're doing because this place is amazing. I highly suggest the banana fosters and the mimosa bar. WHO DAT
Gone2fish
Great atmosphere, awesome food with a nice presentation. Prompt, friendly service in a beautiful environment.
The Andouille crusted fish is incredible! Start it off with the crab cheesecake. It's a delightful meal to say the least.
Julie Smith
Service was outstanding. We took our waiter's suggestions for our dinner and it did not disappoint. Try the Palace Cafe punch if you go, and the turtle soup is a must.
Marissa Briones
This classic restaurant in the French Quarter served amazing contemporary Creole food. And the service was excellent as well. It was a wonderful and unforgettable dining experience!
Ken Oliver
Really enjoyed the meal and drinks here. Had the planters punch for a drink and it really hit the spot. Well balanced between sweet and tart. The filet was seasoned and cooked well along with the crab side. The added crab was good but probably not for the price. Enjoyed the visit and service was amazing. Would recommend.
Piratepress
Had a fantastic meal here and this restaurant really has it all: incredible food, top-notch service, and an unbeatable view of the busiest pedestrian thoroughfare in New Orleans. Unfortunately, it was a little too chilly to sit on the patio (even with the outside heaters) but we still had a great window seat to watch all the tourists. Kathleen was our server and did an outstanding job of taking care of us and making us feel welcome. We cannot wait to come back!
Nian Liu
Ordered Andouille Crusted Fish, crabmeat cheese cake, turtle soup and Crab Claws Bordelaise. Favorite is the crab claws Bordelaise, winning reason is the delicious sauce! Second is the audouille crusted fish, also, winning for the excellent sauce. First time for me to try the savory cheese cake, taste good, yet still like the traditional cheesecake better;) turtle soup is okay. Also ordered spiced rum, which is pretty good.
Najee Dorsey
My wife an I visited on our 22nd anniversary and it was an unforgettable experience. The turtle soup was the best I've had and our entrée was delicious. To top it all off they honored us with a glass of champagne compliments of the house.... the over all experience was 5 times better than the rating of just 5 stars.... Go and see for yourself
Wayne Townsend
Wonderful dining experience, the ribeye steak was tender and delicious, service was excellent as expected. Nice crowd, wonderful atmosphere.
Keith Kennedy
Awesome supper and desert, great drinks and staff. A favorite
Derek Johnson
A classic two story restaurant located on Canal street in downtown New Orleans, Palace Café has a traditional New Orleans feel with a contemporary menu. The menu is a balance of seafood and other offerings. While not expansive, the menu has plenty of options with every one thoughtfully considered. If you are looking for super traditional Cajun food, you might want to skip it. There are the regulars like gumbo and others, but the menu seems to be geared towards creative innovations. That said, I would definitely recommend stopping by if you are on Canal street and looking for a bite to eat.
Brandon Peters-Mathews
Excellent experience. Fun space with a happy crowd. Delicious fish dishes. Superb service. Highly recommended!
Spencer Buchanan
A staple for the Nola experience. It is about 30+ per person. We got reservations the day before for a large group and it was good we did. Very busy and fun right off canal street.
Eric Kunnen
Gumbo, Crab Cheesecake, and Bananas Foster was great! We loved our waiter Sean who made our dinner experience outstanding!
Julia L Jo
I ordered all the “must-haves” from the menu. Food was very tasty. I am giving 4 stars for it being a little bit too noisy.
Katie Mustelier
Cool atmosphere. Beautiful patio complete with live music. The frozen Bananas Foster cocktail is amazing and the braised chicken breast with homemade gnocchi was really delicious.
Carol Lwali
One of my favorite places to eat in New Orleans. Located off Canal street at the edge of the French Quater, this is a must-eat-at restaurant. The service was one of the best I've ever had. No detail left unnoticed! Our waitress was knowledgeable and my party was not disappointed with her recommendations. If you do eat here, and you MUST, order the fried crab claws without hesitation!! What happened in my mouth may be indecent to describe publicly. Take my word for it, they are unforgettable.
What was also impressive is that this was upsacle without being pretentious. Southern Hospitality at its best.
Marcos Batan
The food was outstanding. We had the chargrilled ribeye and the andouille crusted fish. Bananas Foster were great especially with the table side preparation.
The service could have been better. At times, our server was more concerned with other tasks than attending our table.
Ken Fetzer
The food and service in this place is among the very best in the business. You will not get a bad meal here. Do be careful walking to it, as several closed businesses near it are a hangout for street kids smoking drugs.
Jared Norris
Visited the Palace Café twice for lunch in the same week. The Andouille Crusted Fish was amazing. Everything cooked perfect and the sauce amazing, would make you consider licking the plate.
Adam Peace
Absolutely delicious. My wife and I got the shrimp romoulade, mussels, gumbo, shrimp bisque, half chicken, and crusted fish. Everything was packed with flavor! Will be back!
Nancy A
Had a great meal at the Palace Café in New Orleans. Great service from the waiter until he thought we were not going to leave a tip. Overall great experience
Walt Graham
Risotto was a bit crunchy and not expected. The shrimp bisque was warm not hot. Management was very respectful and listened to our suggestions.
Julie Fletcher
Get the Crab Cheesecake. Pecan crust and mushroom reduction equals amazing. Bloody Mary was disappointing. The atmosphere is worth a stop. 😉 …
Robert Starkman
This was our first meal in New Orleans and we were impressed! The salad was simple but good. We shared the grilled Gulf Fish (mahi mahi) and the catfish. They were both outstanding. We also had a Blue Crab claw appetizer which was fantastic.
Andrew Crowe
Great dinner experience. Pleasant atmosphere. Super friendly wait staff with excellent food recommendations. The andouille encrusted fish with crab meat was excellent. Try the cocktail of the month. The apple gallette with cane sugar ice cream and the orange sorbet for dessert was outstanding. Highly recommend. We got there early at 5:00 and plenty of tables. When we left it was full.
rubenprez
The food is just AMAZING! The service was outstanding. The place is beautiful! And I love the fact that one of their drinks is with Venezuelan rum. The Tour of South America has a shot of Diplomatico. I LOVE IT.
Krystal B
I went here for a to go order of eggs benedict. Yum!!
The Banana Foster drink was a waste of time. I expected a drink made in front of me for this price. I didnt finish it, was disappointing.
I dont know if I would say the items are worth the price, but the food was good. 🙂
Victoria Clifford Leopold (LaSasha)
The shrimp and grits were good but its filled mushrooms mostly. The cold brewed coffee is good. Friendly staff. One young lady made an off hand comment that translated to can you afford to eat here and thats why its 4 stars instead of 5
E Will
They will not let you order your entrée before they are ready, and you will get an entire experience shoved down your throat, and you will like it. Perfectly curated menu. I have never been so excited to share my food with other ppl. We all started swapping plates just to get different flavors in our mouths. I had the crabmeat cheesecake, turtle soup, the andouille-crusted fish, and to drink -- fruits of labor (for all you spicy loving foodies out there). Anyways reservation was needed. Figure it out bud, you won't regret it. James was freaking awesome with recommendations. Loved the experience.
Theresa Butts
Palace Cafe has a sophisticated, pleasant, warm and friendly atmosphere as I think only the American South can offer. I experienced delightfully charming servers (Nikki and Deshon, along with Bryson serving wine and cocktails), perfectly flavorful, beautifully presented and wonderfully delicious food (just as you would expect from a Dickie Brennan restaurant) .. at a more modest price than comparable competitors.
I started with a cheese board which offered many tastebud treats and a tap pinot (my only mistake). I also had a salad which was exactly what I expected, but otherwise unremarkable.
I moved on to the ribeye with a pile of sautéed crawfish on a bed of fingerling potatoes in a puddle of seasoned butter. The steak and the potatoes were browned nicely to add flavor. The steak and crawfish were tender and delicious. I had wisely moved on to Bryson’s wine recommendation, a Columbia Valley bordeaux.
Overall I have not a single complaint.
The menu, if not extensive, is nicely varied and includes vegetarian dishes. The kitchen is happy to accommodate allergies and other dietary requirements.
I stretched the experience out over almost two hours (and tipped appropriately for use of the table!), and the servers were gracious and accommodating about it.
The company of Madeleine Albright by way of her new book rounded everything out perfectly.
I highly recommend this establishment.
Beech baby
This is a great restaurant. We strolled in around 2 o'clock in the afternoon looking for a late lunch. Now...I have food allergies which makes me "hard to feed" as I put it. Eating off the menu is hard. Normally, if something on the menu is gluten free it's either a burger with no bun or a salad with no croutons.
They were out of burgers when we got there. The salads had fried meat or seafood..fried shrimp...fried oysters... nothing fun to eat that started with a roux. You get where I'm going with this, right?
HOWEVER. When the gentleman came to take our order he understood exactly what I needed. So. I was able to order a salad that normally came with fried oysters and the chef cooked the oysters with no breading! The salad was AMAZING! Loaded with flavor!
And I gotta say that having someone be that careful with my food was wonderful!
And the daiquiri was incredible. Not frozen, ice cold and made the original way.
If you're ever in New Orleans, please give this place a try! I really can't think of any "grown up" (not fast food) place that's made me feel that welcome and not like a difficult customer in a long time!!
Brian Schulz
Excellent food, fast and friendly service. The shrimp bisque was tasty, and the charcuterie plate had a great variety.
Larry Kime
I was told to go here by a customer. We had just spent some time on Bourbon Street and wanted to get away from the noise and crowds. I Was looking for a light evening snack. They had a dish I have never seen before. "Crabmeat Cheesecake". Well I am thinking New York style cheese cake with crab on top. Boy was I wrong.
It was the most amazing souffle that I have ever had. 1/6th of a 12 inch pie. Covered with german hunters gravy topped with mushrooms and crab claws. Based on my description I probably would not have ordered it. I am glad that I was ignorant when I ordered it. It hit every possible note of complexity and flavor.
GO. Order the Cheesecake.
Hope Cook
Wonderful food and service, our server Vincent was lovely, if you come here definitely see if he has a table available!
Julie Goodwin
Thoroughly enjoyed dinner here! Definitely make reservations as it's in a popular area for tourists. Great cocktails and the food was absolutely delicious. Make sure you order Bananas Foster for dessert. They are one of the few places that still prepare it tableside.
Jen Danford
Food was absolutely amazing! I got andouille fresh fish with crab on top as a recommendation of our waitress. My husband doesn’t eat fish or pork so he got the chicken. Which he was very pleased with! Unfortunately I do not remember our waitress’s name but she was very very sweet and made our experience that much better! We also got the banana foster. Perfect size desert for the night. Soooo good!
Kathryn Thiele
Food was fantastic. Great place for people watching on Canal St near Bourbon St. Deshon was our waiter, he was funny & had great recommendations. Happy hour is from 4-7 so perfect time for tourists & locals. Higher class place then most of the typically Bourbon Street 'cafes'.
Amanda Scott
We have lunch here every time we are in town! The food is amazing as is the service! The Pasta St. Charles is my favorite dish. Today I tried their Creme Brulee and it was magnificent!
William Powers
Fantastic. The staff were very professional and verye frierendly. The atmosphere was great. Very clean and well maintained. The gumbo was delicious. The duck hash was amazing as was the shrimp 🍤 and grits. Definitely eat here when staystaying on Conal Street. …
Terrence Adams
Always a beautiful time. Service us top notch, excellent view...and the ColdFront wakes you up on any sleepy day. Duck confit benedit... win/win. Shrimp and Grits win/win
Terence Dupree
Breakfast Buffet was delicious. My wife had the Pain Purdue (French Toast) that was really good as well. Service was good and not too pricey. Recommended.
David D. Tan
Great restaurant. My partner and I had an amazing time and the food was excellent. Try as much as you can.
Duff Voigt
A pale shadow of what it once was. The food was okay, at best. Service was good, but not at the level it was in the before times. Staffing issues are everywhere, and Palace doesn't escape them.
Ashley Neal
An excellent dining spot. We arrived in on an evening flight and decided to stop in at Palace Cafe for dinner because it was near our hotel. We were very pleasantly surprised at how truly delicious the food was, particularly the crab meat cheesecake. They also have a tastey tableside bananas foster, a NOLA classic!
Leslie Chambers
The place was beautiful but I didn't care for my shrimp and grits or the syrup that came with my waffle
denisha Weary
food was awesome wanted to slap the cook the food was so good definitely u must visit
arael avinu
Visiting New Orleans? You MUST dine here!
Creole cuisine with a perfect mastery of flavor and presentation without break the bank prices.
Also, check out the build your own bloody mary or mimosa bar!
Renee Divine
I was reluctant to try this restaurant as I had wanted to people watch down by Bourbon St but my family saw this menu for Palace Cafe and felt it was worth checking out. I will admit that the restaurant is elegant inside and we were able to sit at a window seat from the upstairs which was nice. The air conditioning was on very high and although we declined, the kind waitstaff took note and offered us chef coats! I opted for the strawberry goat cheese salad and we also ordered a few small plates which were half price for happy hour. The fondue small plate was absolutely delicious. For dessert we ordered the bananas foster which another reviewer had raves about. It certainly met our expectations as it was prepared right at our table! Lastly, I asked our waitress if they had cream should I decide to order a coffee (I’ve found some places only have milk so I’ve started to ask before I order). I was completely disappointed when she said yes, but then brought milk...however she redeemed herself when I asked again and she said they didn’t have half and half but could check the kitchen for heavy cream (perhaps she didn’t hear me when I asked the first time?). She came out a few minutes later with my request which was greatly appreciated. Given the service, the food, and the ambiance, I would definitely recommend making a visit to Palace Cafe.
Kyle Kenerley
Excellent place to go for brunch during Mardi Gras! We happened to time it right and were sitting at a window during a parade right outside. Their drink specials were great too. Makes me want to plan my trip to Nola during Mardi Gras next year!
Jesus C
The coffee here is really good. I like the customer service. I haven’t been please with the food.
Today I had the Turtle soup and the Catfish, and neither one was great.
Jenn S
Delicious food, great service.
I appreciate all the extra precautions that were taken during phase 2 of opening.
Gloria M
This restaurant was quiet & cozy. Everything we had was excellent, we went straight for the main course but i recommend getting an appetizer. If you want dinner and a show order the banana foster.
Kimberly Nava Eggett
We only went for dessert but it was delightful. Ended up sharing bananas foster and white chocolate bread pudding. We were hoping for live music but didn't catch it this evening.
Andy Weaver
Very good meal. The service was a little slow (it was a busy Friday). But it was too loud to have an easy conversation.
Wendy Z
Went for Thanksgiving with my boyfriend. It was a great experience, and Jimmy was an awesome, attentive and friendly server. Thanks Jimmy!!
Rebecca Molina
The food was some of the best I've ever had, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was classy! We enjoyed the live jazz coming from the bar upstairs. In touristy NOLA, you get what you pay for. For $20+ a plate, you not only get a much better meal, but you get out of the chaos and into a NICE place to dine at a relaxed pace. There was also no wait when we went, which was impressive for the busy festival weekend we were there for. As nice as it is, you don't have to get too dressy - a blouse and polo were common at lunchtime. This was a great escape from the crowds.

For those not familiar with New Orleans and Bourbon Street, it's not all safe and sound. Go armed or don't go. Probably the most lawless area or city I've ever been in. You'll be solicited to buy everything there is that can be sold and law enforcement Im assuming is on the cut because they won't do anything for you.
Now that you know what you need to know to get to the place, the restaurant is great. Just know that you might get robbed going or coming.

Great bananas foster drink. Good charcuterie board quiche with crab claws. Forgot the name of it. Photo below.
Birgit Pauli-Haack
The food is delicious. Service is outstanding. One of the finest places to dine in New Orleans!
Karen
An absolute gem of an establishment! The crabmeat cheesecake is something out of a dream, as well as the banana froster beverage. Service was amazing, an understated white table vibe that wasn’t stuffy but felt like you were being taken care of. I visited here once almost 6 years ago and yearned for the day I could come back, up until last week when I finally did. I will dine here every time I visit New Orleans.
M C
Fantastic atmosphere, great food. The crab claws were out if this world. I was able to cut my fillet with a butter knife. Tableside entertainment was so "New Orleans". Loved it!!
Levi Alvarado (SAABGUY)
Amazing, this place is amazing. The food was full of flavor and delicious. The staff was awesome and very polite.
Brandon Peterson
Beautiful classic New Orleans atmosphere with great cafe au lait and a Black Bar breakfast that shouldn't be missed! 👍 The service is friendly and speedy! …
Robin Depeder
Excellent prep and presentation by the chef. We had the beet salad and chef's cut of beef choice. The food was exceptional, as was our server, "Mo." We finished with 2 fresh brewed cups coffee (a detail "Mo" paid attention to), and the Profiteroles. As the saying goes, when in New Orleans...eat French and Creole. Located on Canal St this restaurant presents much better inside than the exterior. Great people watching if you get a table on the window line. Go early and you can just walk in.

I really have a good time here. Love the food. Fair price
HAROLD B
Good service ... Good food. Daughter took me there to see where she worked as a Chef. Nice experience. Wasnt crowded but could tell we got there before the evening rush.
Aliaksandra H.
Great price-quality relation! Loved the interior, service, atmosphere and most importantly the food.
Laura Deupree
Great drinks and food. Cocktails are on point, and all the taps are local breweries. The fondue was amazing! Sitting on the street is great for people watching. Stop by for a drink and snack - it's a wonderful experience.
Ronnie Llamas
Absolutely delicious, the banana foster drink was dangerous, I can drink it all day, and then the actual banana foster was just to die for
Sarah C
This was recommended to me by a tour guide and we loved it. The service is top notch and the food is amazing. I felt underdressed, so it could totally be a dressy date!
Sierra Neal
Andoule Encrusted Fish and Gumbo YaYa were delicious.
Kia
The ambience and service was great. The crab cakes were exquisite. The only draw back is the limited menu choices in my opinion and the fact we had to ask for a bottle of water which is standard. Menu is a bit pricey but worth the quality of food and drink.
Shebrena Evans
I loved the server Vincent, prompt and attentive. Also the musicians were AMAZING
Juan Vila Rodriguez, Tampa Realtor
I was so hungry that I forgot to take pictures. However, I had the Salade Niçoise and it was very good. I'll definitely be back for pictures. Staff is friendly, dress is nice casual, prices are fair.

OMG!!!!! If you read my review on the last "benedict" I had, then you know that wasn't what one should taste like. But yesterday...THIS! This is what a take on eggs Benedict should be! The first bite transported me: the pork debris tasted of low and slow marinating, the perfect poaching of the eggs showed how lucky they were to live in a neighborhood resting on clouds of albumin. All of this goodness lay atop a biscuit that had grill marks that belied its fluffy insides. At the last bite, I literally felt sad for two reasons: because my experience was nearly at its end, and that Palace Café was closed today and I couldn't go back for a repeat...because I surely would have. Until next time, á bientôt!

Excellent restaurant, very good food, very good service, very good atmosphere. everything was good, the crab cheesecake, is something amazing !!! I loved!!!
Marianna Knup
This place is out of this world!!! Exceptional service and divine cuisine! Please taste the "Gumbo Ya Ya" and the "Crab cheesecake"!!!
Chris Carpentier
An exquisite dining experience. Great service, great food, classy atmosphere. Dining done right here.
Catfish pecan really good dish, as was the anadouille dish - wow!
Greg Nybo
This place is fantastic. I loved it and would go back any time. Make sure to get the cheesecake.
Jared Baum
Everything was great except that the fries with the amazing burger came out cold and sad. Otherwise really great dinner for the wife and I!
Jakia n
I had a private party here in the wine room and the experience was everything I wanted and more. The staff was friendly and extremely accommodating. They helped me successfully execute a surprise party. The guests couldn't stop raving about how good the food was and how much they enjoyed themselves. Thanks so much!
Carl Reifle
Fish good, chicken okay. I've had much better boiled breast. Enjoyed eating on the sidewalk.
Sergio Aicardi
Really fancy restaurant that made a good date night. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and special. I had the rib eye steak and it was excellent. I also had the bread pudding with a scoop of ice cream and it was really good.
Amber Martin
Food was amazing!! Anadiullie crusted fish and cheesecake was exceptional my favorite meal this trip to Nola
Melissa Castor
Delicious food and great place to grab a bite to eat! Enjoyed my experience here. Atmosphere is old fashiony and I love it :)
Chris Wiley
Excellent restaurant at the edge of the French Quarter. Food was absolutely delicious and our waiter, Claude, was outstanding. Highly recommended.
Barry Belford
Amazing food. Great outdoor dining area to sit and watch people.
Craklyn
Had a fantastic experience at lunch today. Nikki was our waitress, she was friendly, attentive, and always on top of it. I can't remember the last time we had such amazing service. Eric was the chef on duty, and everything coming out of the kitchen was on fire. It left us wanting more. The Shrimp and grits were incredible, everything was absolutely incredible. If you want great NOLA food and southern hospitality, you have to stop here for a meal. I can't wait to return next time in town with the family.
Nicholas Moeai
Best restaurant we've visited thus far in New Orleans. Comes with a fancy price tag but the food and service seem worth it to me. Service was cordial and top notch. Try the ribeye! You'll thank me for it.
Robert Eggleston
Had a group dinner here in a private upstairs room. Food was very good, selected from a limited menu that was heavily Cajun influenced. Service was good, although on the slow side. Dinner check tabulation, collection and settlement was very slow.
Heather J. Chin
Gorgeous historic interiors, get the fried oysters, reserve upstairs rooms for parties/luncheons big and small or dine casually downstairs and outside. Attentive service and great location.
Laura Lozano
Great service! They made a delicious meal special for me, totally vegan!!
I love they hear me and made a special dish !!
Reyah H
I had the 3 course meal and everything was fantastic. The atmosphere is top notch just like the food. Get the crab cheesecake starter, you won't regret it.
Alfredo Panciera
Great place to breakfast, the food and service are excellent. You can choose some breakfast options from the menu or a continental breakfast that includes scramble eggs, fruits, cereals, etc.
Kim Bryson
Tempature Lunch special for $9.80. Dessert was $9. Awesome ice cream dessert, caramel n cookie bits.
Daniel Friscia
Delicious food. Definitely recommend the crabmeat cheesecake.
Larry Kane
Loved the group dinner we had here!
John Kim
This place is amazing! I had low expectation for American food, but this restaurant has widened my eyes.
C Lane
First time having Crawfish etoufee and it was divine. Fine dining on Bourbon street. Top notch service and tasty cocktails. We got to watch Mardi Gras parade while dining! Magical place!
Zach Anderson
Amazing food and great cocktails. Hands down the best Bananas Foster I've ever had. 10/10 would come back to New Orleans just for this place.
Elena Lioubimtseva
This vibrant restaurant offers great Cajun cuisine menu including excellent vegetarian options. Situated on a busy Canal street next to Mariott and Sheraton, it seems to be an equally nice place for a meal or a drink, indoors or on its lively French-style terrace
Quin Whiddon
This restaurant had been on my list since before covid, so I was happy that they finally reopened, but I left feeling that maybe pre-covid, it was a lot better. When we checked in at the hotel and I asked one of the employees if they had ever been there and she said no, so that should have been my cue to find another place to eat. The employee was familiar with a few other places so being a local, I knew she was clued in on what was good and what was not and I am sorry to say, but Palace Cafe was just ok.
I did not realize it was located in the heart of canal street making it a tourist trap which I usually try to avoid, however, we persevered anyways. The ladies at the host stand were very nice and accommodating and the inside was clean, albeit a bit dated. We chose to sit outside on the patio and as soon as we were seated we were approached by DJ M. He was very nice and made the dinner pleasant enough to get through.
We sipped on the When Doves Fly, Orleanist, and the Pontchartrain and all drinks were good. For food, we started with the tuna tartare, marinated crab claws, and mussels. The presentation of all dishes was excellent, however, I did not realize the crab claws were chilled, although it says so in the description, so I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting hot garlic butter. The crostini that accompanied the claws was stale and the mussels had so much andouille in it, that the fries had a lingering taste of pork, plus the broth was lukewarm. The beet & endive salad was just ok, however the gumbo yaya and gumbo gratinee (their vegetarian option) were both good. For dessert we went with the mousse and bananas fosters. The mouse was very tasty, but we were disappointed with the bananas fosters as usually it's a small butter cake topped with bananas and ice cream and then flambéd, but their version seems to be missing the cake and flambé bananas and ice cream was rather boring and not exciting.
Marty
Delicious food with a beautiful atmosphere. Service spectacular.
Katy Allen
We stopped into the Palace Cafe during one of the parades and were pleasantly surprised right away by the ambience. The wait staff was very attentive. They had an extensive drink menu and are know for their rum (boasting over 150 selections). The complexity of the drinks just worked together, such as a citrus juice rum drink topped with aged vanilla rum and a dash of cardamom (to die for). We elected to share the champignon plate, it carried a various assortment of cured meats and cheeses, as well as pate and a lamb terrine, as well as two different mustards. We were pleasantly full by the time we finished. You get what you pay for, and this place is worth the money. They also have a cute little bar tucked into the back corner for a quick cocktail.
Chretien P. Schatorie
Inside the oldest known building on Canal Street and owned and run by the legendary Brenners family. Good food. The crown was the Banana Foster. Too good.
Tom Conlee
Beautiful interior, good jazz brunch music, very short menu, over-priced...
Robert Winter
Looking for a fine but not stuffy location for brunch. Service, food and atmosphere is excellent. Ended with a high note on the dessert.
sandra sibert
Top notch service and food. Fried oyster appetizer was the best. Bananas foster made table side.
Gordon H
The crabmeat cheesecake was fantastic! Added craw fish to the Werlein salad, no peeling or picking required. Yum!
Juan Sanchez
Best mint juleps I had in Nola! Service was just ok, cheeses were great and some of the staff was friendly!!
Ricardo
Brilliant food and atmosphere
Matthew Clark
Excellent food and a super friendly staff. Had a great time.
Naomi Siegel
Absolutely delicious food with incredibly friendly staff. Our group walked in midday on a Thursday and were seated immediately. The host and waitress were friendly and did a great job of making us feel welcome as a large group. The food was so good we went back again the next day for breakfast. Definitely recommend their benedict!
N. M. Hayes
Great food & service. The table side service of Banana's Foster was Outstanding!
Matthew M
Amazeballs!!! Banana froster adult beverage is off the chain good!!! The crayfish cheesecake will enlighten your tastebuds in the most savory and decadent way. Not something I would've ordered but so glad the manager talked us into it. Order it, your mouth will thank you.
Aliya K.
Food was nothing special. $15 for a caesar salad with chicken is a bit much. Nothing special about the salad. I had the pecan catfish for $19 and that was good, but again nothing great. I've had better. Not sure what the hype was all about. Our server was super nice and overall the staff was attentive. The ambiance of the restaurant was quaint. Seemed to be a lot of "special occasion" people there.
Jennifer Beagle
The food was great! I had the catfish pecan and I enjoyed it very much! I would've given 5 stars if it hadn't been for the service. My server seemed disappointed that I wasn't ordering alcohol or multiple desserts. Not everyone comes to NOLA to get fat and loaded. I just wanted to have a nice meal with my daughter. I understand that it's part of his job to up-sell, but being pushy makes for an unpleasant experience. My bananas foster set-up also sat ready and in my view, for about 15 minutes before it was served to us. It was like the server was taking his good old time, because I wasn't spending big money. Turnover is key. He could've had us out of there faster, so he could wait on someone else who was spending the big bucks, since that seemed to be what mattered to him.
Wooten Jones
We ducked in here (sans reservation, and without any advance planning) for a quick dinner prior to a show. It was very busy but we were seated very quickly in the quaint 1920’s downstairs area. The andouille-crusted sheepshead (a fish, for the uninitiated) in Crystal burre blanc was incredible, service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was bustling without being obtrusive.
Aleah McCorry
Very cool grande cafe atmosphere. Had the seafood gumbo (pretty salty) and pecan crusted catfish (delicious!)
Noe Horowitz
Not alot of options on the Menu, their ordering system was weird (didn't let us order dessert before the entre) and horrible service, I feel like everytime I asked for silverwear or water they looked annoyed. The inside looks nice though.
Jean Benoit
Great food, great host, great place to visit when in the NOLA!!!!
Alex Bentley
Amazing food. Top notch. New Orleans must of you're visiting.
Coady Kenyon
Food was better than I could have imagined and the service was top notch
Maks Chorney
Really impressed with the food, staff, and decor. And the price was quite reasonable for the very high quality!
Mishal Alrushoud
Amazing Cafe
Staff are welcoming specially Allie and Dale they served me very well.
I was alone but I had a great time and there was live music which was fabulous time.
Will come back again.
Jed Storey
Excellent food and service. Had the fish, chicken and waffles, and strawberry shortcake, all delicious. We really enjoyed the style of the place and the jazz (not live, but good selections). I like that they leave a bottle of water at the table and use the handheld card reader machines to check you out, nice touches like that really make a place standout.
Tasha Brown
The Palace Café was our favorite dining experience while in New Orleans.
The crab cheesecake is unlike anything I've ever tasted. Turtle soup and andoullie crusted white fish were both amazing and the Banana's Foster was ✨🧑🏻🍳🤌🏼✨.
The service was also great. They were very busy when we came in and the entire staff seemed to be helping each other out. The GM actually ended up being the one to serve us. Great teamwork!
Abby Curtis-Palmer
Beautiful place. We went with friends who had loved it in the past. The food was okay but not especially memorable. The ambiance and service on the second floor at late breakfast was lovely and perfect. Conversation and visiting was easy in this peaceful place.
yaya ahx
The food was delicious. Very satisfied with the professional waiters and service. The restaurant is really clean, very classy. Stands out far and beyond many others in the area.
Mary Penny
Delicious food, decent prices. Had lunch and dessert and enjoyed it all. We ate on the patio and enjoyed the busy sights of Canal St.
Mino Schuffner
Nice space, good service and very good food.
Phila-Shae Shae
Loved everything about it. The food, The décor, and Juan our table attendant.
James Lenoble
We loved everything that we ordered. Very clean open kitchen and great service from the moment that we walked into the door.
Deidra Lashmet
We had a big group. Service was good. Food was good... just not amazing. Maybe too Touristy.
Jeff Tyson
We actually went to the Black duck bar upstairs. The place itself was very nice. Our bartender was great. It was happy hour so the drinks were reasonable. We ordered a shrimp and andouille pasta dish. It was delicious. We would definitely go back.
Tj Gross
Fantastic food!!
Bruno D
a very important tip, book before you go, the restaurant is always full, so you don't have to wait hours, make your reservation! enjoy traditional New Orleans dishes and dessert!
Jennifer Rodriguez
Really liked the palace cafe. I’m a very picky eater but the food the great. I fed recommend.
Kate Hansen
Amazing food and great service. I was able to bring my dog and sit in the outdoor seating. I highly recommend the crabmeat cheesecake.
Tamra Turnbo
I recently went and visited this location for my birthday weekend August 7th and I would like to say the customer service and food was fresh and delightful. At first my omelet was messed up, because it had meat inside of it. However, the wonderful Eric (kitchen manager) came out immediately and took the plate and had them correct the problem. He was thorough and attentive. The entire experience was great. Thank you Eric, Logan and the Manager of the establishment. My sister and myself enjoyed ourselves. We will be back!
David Grayson
Amazing food... MUST have the crabmeat Cheesecake. Chad is a FANTASTIC bartender, go visit him!!!
Titan Capri
Great atmosphere, service and shall we mention the food! I truly recommend if you are in Nola a spot to dine.
Aja Williams
Went here for my birthday dinner and it was exquisite. The servers were friendly and conversational but also quick.
Cindy Rizzato
Outstanding all the way around. Excellent, tasty food, friendly staff, tasty food, amazing atmosphere..... can't wait to go back! Awesome place to people watch too lol.

Open again after Hurricane Ida! Same great service and food.
Robert Leonard
Great food and service! Loved the band!
Marc “Tempesto” Palumbo
It was awesome. Food, staff, the great room. Here's a picture of the Crabmeat Cheesecake. Just order it.
Martin Truong
Wonderful nostalgic atmosphere. Put together your very own version of Caesar coctail is a must try here.
Roopinder Tara
Go upstairs and meet Peter, the friendliest and most helpful bartender you could imagine. Peter can guide you through all the rums. “We are a rum city,” he says. He can guide you the menu and flambé your Bananas Foster, the quintessential New Orleans dessert, at your table.
We ran through several appetizers, choosing to transform the respectable Palace Cafe into a tapas restaurant while seated at the upstairs bar. The parade of small plates that ensued were a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. The tuna tartare served with endives (14) was well received. I ordered salad maison (house salad,$7) and added a side of shrimp ($6) which were, surprise!, served whole, heads and all, redolent and with spice—and may be the best shrimp I ever had! The moules frite (mussels with fries,$14) had enough smoked sausage (andouille?) to make it a signature New Orleans dish. Finishing it all off was a white chocolate bread pudding unlike any other, I am told (I’m gluten-free so relying on my dining companion here).
Ordering a gin drink (Pointchartrain, $12) in the land of rum may have been ignorant of local custom but after a patient description of local rums plus an overhead display of Appletons, I know what to order next time.
Our education in rum included hitherto unknown facts about Hemingway, perhaps the most famous rum drinker there ever was. I daiquiris were his drink of choice but had no idea he was diabetic and his were made without sugar. The Palace Cafe has a rum named after Hemingway.
Jeff Woods
Super friendly staff. The crab cheesecake is unbelievable and the bananas foster is amazing. Would definitely be a regular if I was a local
LaLainya Lynas
Dining here was a pleasure from the atmosphere to the food to the service, we enjoyed everything. Our party of 4 was promptly greeted and showned to a table where our waiter greeted us with water and menus. Appetizers and entrees were a delight to the eyes and the palates. I ordered a salad with grilled shrimp which was refreshing and delicious on a hot summer day. I also ordered the Bananas Foster, prepared tableside as it should be. Our server was informative and efficient. Would definitely be a pleasure to return.
Pam Keen
Everything we had was AMAZING! Turned out to be our favorite place to eat in New Orleans. You've got to try their New Orleans Rum Cake & Bananas Foster...crazy good!
Eniola Long
The grilled gulf fish and banana foster were good but the gumbo wasn't. The rice was over cooked
Brian Lobo
Wonderful atmosphere for a big group celebration for a fancy dinner yet decently semi expensive menu
Steve Calcagno
Fine New Orleans dining with a flare. Feels like a large plantation. Service is friendly and efficient.
Food is flavorful and inviting.
Kim Schultz
Top-notch cocktails in a stylish vintage setting. Thoughtfully created menu by a skilled staff. A local reccomended the place and I was not disappointed!
Jill Banse
I was pleasantly surprised with this place. We popped in for a quick lunch and it was fantastic. The food was delicious, I recommend the blue crab cheesecake, you won’t be disappointed. The service was also excellent. It was very clean. It a nice upscale but casual lunch spot.
Shantal Brasher
Food was delicious and staff was very polite and friendly.
Mary Christof
The Pasta St. Charles was incredible. Creamy and delicious. Service was exemplary. My friend doesn't like anything the least bit spicy and they happily brought her a tiny portion of her food choice before ordering it. Very nice atmosphere.
Robert Schoenfeld
Pretty good fish and bananas Foster. Would recommend if you're not in a hurry because the service was a bit slow
Gabriel Reyes
My partner and I came for vacation and this was probably the highlight of our entire trip. We had a wait since we found it impromptu and without a reservation — but it was WORTH every second (and ever dime).
Definitely get the banana foster for dessert!! You won’t regret it. (But you might regret NOT getting it!)
Kim Sorrelle
Excellent. The food was amazing. My hats off to the chef! Our server Deshon did an amazing job. He was there exactly when we needed him and did not bother us but helped us a lot. He cleared dishes as soon as we were done with anything. He checked on us at exactly the right times. He did a phenomenal job. The food was fabulous! The crab cheesecake appetizer is to die for. The green goddess salad was so good, great dressing. We loved the andouille crusted fish, so so good! Our favorite was the shrimp entree that has been on the menu for years. For really good reasons. Highly recommend this place.
Lucinda Moore
Really good food and atmosphere. Loved the decor. Waiter was excellent. He gave great recommendations and the history of how bananas foster dessert came to be!! It was a great endi g to my daughter's bachlorette weekend. Highly recommend.
Sara Brown
Great food and atmosphere! Service was excellent.
GinaLee Webb
Everytime I come to New Orleans I have to have a crab meat cheese cake. Still as delicious as I remembered. Staff is always very friendly even at the bar if I get it to go
Lori H
Don't overlook this place! There wasn't a long line so we almost thought it wouldn't be a place to go. Glad we did not make that mistake and went inside. We ordered the shrimp and grits and andouille red fish in wine sauce w/hot sauce. Both dishes that my husband & I shared were delicious! Were nice atmosphere, clean, and the staff was great !
Local reviewer
If you appreciate the art of fine dining and have a bit of money to spend, I highly recommend Palace Cafe! I'm a seasoned traveler and this was by far one of the best meals and service experiences I've ever had. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and features a center spiral staircase going up to the second floor, which has a balcony overlooking Canal. My friend and I discovered Palace when we stopped in for an afternoon cocktail. The GM visited our table and told us about the Sun brunch and made sure we were able to get a reservation. Every aspect of our meal that day was perfectly crafted. Being from Philadelphia, I am used to much higher price points for this level of dining, so the cost was very reasonable from my perspective.
*One last note, if you only get one thing, you MUST try the Crabmeat Cheesecake- to die for!!!!
Lisa Salom
service was great. Food was good. we had a good meal.
Mary
Gumbo was delicious. Service was great. We just came for a small bite and dessert. The bread pudding was outstanding.
Bill Eubanks
The staff was incredible! Super polite and answered all our questions! The food was ridiculously good. The crabmeat cheesecake had no business being as good as it was but I highly recommend it. We had bananas foster for dessert and it was prepared at table side, and we got an impromptu history lesson from the gentleman preparing it! Can't recommend this place enough!
RainJewell KickstandCompanions
We had the best dining experience at the Palace Cafe, during our 6 day stay in New Orleans. Service was excellent. Gumbo ya ya was delicious. My husband loved his oyster salad. Ambiance was lovely. We will be back next time we are in New Orleans.
Benjamin “BK” Kenney
Atmosphere is stunning! Great photography spot, the food is rather lacking in taste and presentation. Overall 3/5
Urbanista Weddings
Outstanding meals, with well thought out ingredients and flavors. The desserts are supreme and the service is above and beyond. This was our first meal in New Orleans and couldn't have been happier. Even my 12 year old ate his entire meal.
Terri N.
The service and food were excellent. I highly recommend the eggplant appetizer!
Jeffrey Martin
Outstanding cocktails and wonderful seafood. Try the seafood special topped with fried crawfish tails.
Greg Podjan
This a really classy place I hate to brag about it, because others will want to come here, but it's one of my favorites in New Orleans!
Toni
This was my favorite of all the places we tried on our trip to NOLA which is saying a lot because the other restaurants we went to set the bar pretty high. We actually went back there a second time out last night and the taste and experience was just as good as the first time.
Rebecca Tamm
Service was incredibly fast, and extremely attentive. Upscale, without the dress code. Food was incredible.
Gabriel Acosta
Good food / buffet and service. Reasonably priced as well! Would come back.
Jeromy Graham
Every time I go to New Orleans, I go to the Palace Café. The food is excellent, and the servers great. This visit I started with the crabmeat cheesecake which was very elegant and well worth trying. Moved on to the catfish pecan, which was outstanding. And finished up with the banana's foster, which they prepared tableside.
Lauren S
Having lived in the city and eaten here many times, I am disappointed to see how run down the restaurant has gotten. The chairs are old and scarred, but the worst is the carpet. This is the second Dickie Brennan restaurant to give this impression. As to the food, it was good. Certainly better than his Tableau restaurant. The cheddar biscuit with shredded pork and poached eggs were tasty. The crabmeat cheesecake has not changed. The white chocolate bread pudding is nothing like the signature dish of the past. It used to be a fluffy, spongy texture which made it unique and delicious, now definitely not the same. We also had the chocolate mousse cake which would have been very good had it not been for hard, crunchy bits put onto the plate which the cake was sitting on. I think they were ground coffee beans. Whatever they were, that hard, gritty texture ruined the smoothness of the mousse and cake. I really think it is time for Dickie Brennan to revitalize this restaurant and redecorate!
Cara Wallo
Attentive service and really wonderful food - loved the crabmeat cheesecake. Not what you think, just try it!
Michael Bogart
Everything was extraordinary good atmosphere nice staff food was quickly served
J C
Sat in the "bar" area next to the kitchen window. If you're visiting without a reservation, sit here as tables are always available and the views of the kitchen and the dining area are great!
Tom Dutkiewicz
Extremely great service! Food was excellent! Definitely a place to try
Thomas Douglass
Well spaced dining area and masked servers. Food was very good as well as drinks. We very much enjoyed the Special Valentines Fixed Price menu including Pompano on the half shell. Server was good about spacing out courses and not rushing us.
David S
Food and atmosphere were great. We loved the Pepper crusted duck breast, Shrimp Tchefuncte and crab meat cheese cake. The restaurant was clean and elegant. Our issue was the service. We ended up with two servers. One of our servers was great (seemed like she was in training). The second seemed less than interested in our overall experience. When we were getting up to leave after leaving a very generous tip, we were left with a very colorful (inappropriate) goodbye. I was not sure what to think as we had a fantastic time. We will not return based on the service of one!
Kevin Chaney
Great dining experience.
Lynn Hicks
Good food. The waiter was very friendly. The bread that came to the table came hot and toasted. I ordered Palace Burger which was very delicious. The only critiques I have are:
1. They only put 1 small piece of bacon on the burger
2. The patty ( very delicious) was small. It was more bread the meat.
Antonio Harris
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Our server Drew was very attentive and the legendary banana's foster was prepared at the table to insure the peak.of freshness. Will go back anytime in New Orleans. And the owner Dickie Brennan is a true gem. Wish there were more stars available to give..
Brooke Gambill
The food was phenomenal! We had a party of 8 and were able to make a last minute reservation. We had a beverage server and a regular server. They were both great with recommendations and service. Every single person was happy with the dinner. Even our super picky eater!
Jared Lyons
Really good service, food and drinks were tasty. Would return soon!
Heather
We are here for the weekend and chose Palace Cafe on a whim. This was THEE best meal we have had in a very long time. My husband and I both did the special dinner. The cheesecake starter was EPICALLY good, as was the rest of our meal. On top of that, the service was top notch from beginning to end and the restaurant is so beautiful! We definitely chose well! I HIGHLY recommend this great restaurant!!!
Betty Robinson
Beautiful place. Great people they are friendly and happy. Gordon Ramsey would be proud. Food , atmosphere and staff are outstanding.
Lydia Singleton
Perfect Date Night spot. Beautiful at night. Quality food worthy of the pricing. Ambience, staff and service is great. A great place for locals and tourists.
Jason Broom
Tourist Trap.. I can't believe the Brennan's have a restaurant that is just uneventful when it comes to flavor.
Edison Coronado
Great Place to have breakfast. Awesome service!!!
The Food was delicious.. I would recommend it too anyone.
Marc Regan
Possibly the best service I had in New Orleans and the gumbo is amazing!
Judith Greene
Great atmosphere! Dinner was delicious! Wait staff was attentive and we even had live music from an group that moved through the dining room singing at different tables. What a great touch! My husband and I both loved our meals!
Rusty Parker
So.. with SOOO many good places to eat we had walked past here many times !.. well no longer ! The crab cheesecake is now one of my wife's all time favorite things we have tried in NOLA, the turtle soup was good with the French bread and the pecan catfish was good as well. The mojito flight was a good sampling with a surprise from the pickled strawberry, But the show stopper was the crab cheesecake!! Will definitely be back!

Great food and service in a wonderful old building on Canal Street. Highly recommended.

This was my first visit back to the Palace Cafe since the mid-90s. The atmosphere and food was as good as I remember it. I especially loved the Gumbo. I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars because their credit card machine does allow you to tip your specific server. A flat 18% tip which benefits all of the restaurant support staff, is automatically added. I was advised of this at the start of the meal. I fully support this practice in light of COVID and the devastation it has caused the service industry. I was unaware until I was paying my bill however, that I could not add an additional tip for my server on my credit card. I am not in the habit of carrying much cash, so was left in a predicament. Ultimately, I came back the next day and left a tip for my server. I feel strongly about leaving generous tips for servers, especially in these trying times, and I felt this restaurant made it difficult to do so.

Food is great. Fun to have lunch at the outdoor seating area

I miss it being open for lunch.

I went two times. Once for dinner, and once for dessert (three of us). Honestly, I don't know which was better. The Andouille Crusted Fish Was one of the best dishes I have ever had. However, the bread pudding was the best bread pudding I have ever had. And then the bananas foster was simply amazing, especially the show they do at the table when they make it. Would give 10 stars if I could.

The steak was cooked to perfection. Although our recent waiter expressed exhaustion of tourists (such as my group), he was mindful and attentive. The "host" in charge with all other than our food (e.g.: drinks and general customer service experience) was absolutely amazing and impressively engaging. Great first impression for my friends.
Food here is always great, never disappoints...ever. Customer service as a whole is solid! Would recommend, always.

First impression, we were at a table we didn't like. Felt like we were in the way of the waiters and busboys. Got bumped into a few times. Asked the lady at front to move to another table and got bad attitude. Luckily the manager overheard and stepped and moved us out of the way saving this review. The food was excellent, portion size was pretty large. Waitress we had was super friendly and helpful. It looked like they were short staff for the evening rush, but they got it done. If it wasn't for the attitude of the lady telling us nothing was wrong with our table this would be a 5 star review.

Ordered shrimp tchefuncte. A long time favorite of ours from the last time we visited New Orleans. Rice was boney. But the dish still was as good as ever. Service by Melissa E was terrible. Very disappointed in the way she handled ore order. Not a very good “bed side manner”.

Had a local teammate take us here this evening.
What a great meal! I liked that it was a fast meal... I wasn’t sitting for 3 hours waiting for it to come out. I wasn’t rushed either and we could have sat longer but we were ready to move on.
The flavors in the food was excellent.
Definitely get yourself a bowl of the Gumbo Ya ya to start.
I had the Andoyille crusted fish and it was incredible. Cooked perfectly and the sauce was perfect.
An excellent creole experience for this Northern Boy.
Service was excellent .

The food was spectacular! The roux that seemed consistent in each dish we ordered was off the chain. The wait staff was fast, friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the Sunday Brunch very much and will likely return the next time we are in New Orleans, which given the incredible number of good options for eating establishments there, is saying something.

MUST STOP!! Worth the visit!!!!!! Shrimp & grits were GREAT!!!

Very nice ambiance, and the food is really good

Great service and the food was good.

Beautiful place. Great lighting. Great food and deliciously strong mimosas. We enjoyed ourselves and felt taken care of even though our waiter, Dan, had gotten a 10 top right as we ordered. He and his coworkers tended to us well. I had the chicken breast & my boyfriend had the andouille fish (drum). Everything was delicious! I would love to go back!

Having just arrived in NOLA this happened to be our first stop. We sat down in the lower bar, the service was phenomenal and the drinks were even better. I cannot recommend this place enough. The crab cheesecake is NOT to be missed.
To the bartenders working here - you guys are amazing and made us feel so welcome thank you!

Fantastic atmosphere and my filet was topped with the most delicious hollandaise sauce I've ever had. The combination was akin to old school cheeseburger helper from a box (this is a compliment). It was both devine and indulgent and I cherished each bite. Oh and perfectly tender as you'd expect. I recommend sitting upstairs by the large windows overlooking the street. This place is the real deal, not just some tourist trap cashing in on NOLA's culinary reputation.

Must have the crab cheesecake! Great food and service. The banana fosters drink was the best!

We were a group of eight and made our reservations. Once we arrived we were seated quickly. This was our first time visiting but the staff was very helpful and patient and let us take our time deciding what to order. We all order different items and, of course, we all had to try each other's dishes. Everything was excellent. My husband got the Chargrilled ribeye and my son tried the Catfish Pecan. Both were excellent dishes. The atmosphere is lively and fun, the staff very friendly and helpful. Palace Cafe is a must stop on a New Orleans trip.

Very good venue for special occasion, good service and food was very good.

Food was excellent the service was impeccable

We had the Cafe Benedict which was a unique twist made with pulled pork set on cheddar biscuits and onion gravy. Traditional poached eggs topped with hollandaise sauce. Incredibly delicious. Wife had chicken and waffles- equally unique and delicious. Topped it all off with Bananas Foster prepared table side...Mr. Brennan created the original Bananas Foster so you must have it at one of the Bennan restaurants. Service is impeccable.

What an amazing, authentic New Orleans experience! The food is AMAZING and the SERVICE IS UNPARALLELED! Oh my goodness, located right on Canal St, in the French Quarters, this restaurant is the perfect compliment to your New Orleans experience! Nikki, our server, and Allie, her partner server, provided the MOST OUTSTANDING SERVICE THAT WE HAVE HAD IN AMERICA!! They were very attentive to every single want and need, many times serving exactly what we needed without us having to ask. Nikki and Allie were full of life, very personable, very inviting, very knowledgeable of the menu, and very fun. As for the food, SCRUMPTIOUS!! All of the food was fresh and perfect. My husband and I started with the Turtle Soup, Shrimp Remoulade, and Shrimp Gumbo. For entree's we had Ribeye Steak with BBQ Shrimp and Shrimp Creole. For desert, we enjoyed the White Chocolate Banana Bread Pudding. Every single dish was amazing. Cannot wait to visit the Palace Cafe upon our return to New Orleans!
Frank Ciuffetelli
Very good food and very good service in a nice, pet friendly environment. We were welcomed with our dog inside in the air conditioning. Gumbo ya-ya, Shrimp Tchfuncte and pork pot pie, were all very good. The white chocolate bread pudding was good, but the bread was kind of dry. Service by Allie was excellent.
Angelique Thompson
The food was incredible here. We were skeptical about trying the crabmeat cheesecake but it was simply divine. I had the shrimp and grits and my hubby had the catfish pecan. We were very pleased with our choices. Will definitely go there again!

Good food. Portions are smaller for the price you pay. Some of our wait staff were less accommodating than I'd expect from this tier dining. Overall nice atmosphere. The andouille crusted fish was more of a fish fillet with bread crumbs on top nothing special alone. The sauce accompanying was very good. I had bananas Foster for dessert which was very good.
Window Elegance
Loved this restaurant, everyone very hospitable and friendly. James welcomed us like family, and our server (I forgot her name) was wonderful. I had the duck parfait which was delicious. Can't wait to eat here again. Thumbs up
Dave Cartwright
I had a great time upstairs at Black Duck Bar. Taylor was a fantastic bartender.
Rebecca Harvey
Service is exceptional. Our servers Sean and Claude were amazing, very entertaining and masters of the profession. Food was delicious - I came to try the Bananas Foster and it lived up to its reputation. Most definitely come again on my next trip to NOLA.

I attended Palace Cafe's jazz brunch, which I was delighted to find they had on Saturday mornings. Upon arriving, I asked for a table for one (a colleague of mine was in a meeting). They said it would be between a 45 and 60 minute wait or I could take a seat at the bar. I opted for the bar, but a seat here also took about 15 minutes to open up.
The atmosphere is very busy and lively, as it is a popular spot at this time of day. The jazz trio was wonderful, but the amount of people within the area made it very difficult to hear any music. I ordered the fried oyster salad, which I found to be a bit bland and I needed to use a significant amount of hot sauce on it (and I'm from the North!). Other than four fried oysters and greens, there wasn't much to it. It was a decent price, but would rather have something smaller with other textures, flavors, etc. I had waited a long time for my salad and the person who sat in my general vicinity ordered the same dish (about 30 minutes after mine). The chef came out to apologize for the wait and mistakenly apologized to the man, who then received his dish before mine as I continued to wait.
If the jazz trio was not on site, I would not return due to the lack of seasoning and disorganization that led to me receiving little to no attention and the chef mistakenly presenting my order to another customer, who gladly accepted after ordering only ten minutes ago. However, as it does add ambiance and the availability of the jazz brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, I would go again - perhaps only for a cappuccino and a bread board.

First time in many years. Wonderful

We came in for a quick brunch on a Saturday. Staff was very friendly, as we sat at the bar. Our food was delicious, and our drinks were very well made. The vibe was nice, but also fun. They had a small jazz band going around the room playing little snippets of songs. Very enjoyable. Definitely recommend checking it out.
Daniel McConnell
I got the pecan crusted catfish. It was good, a little sweet for my taste, but if you really like pecans, this is the dish for you. The atmosphere was very nice and the service was great. Can't go wrong by stopping by.
Stella Nhambio
Excellent service, staff and food.
We loved it there. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming - exactly what you expect from New Orleans. After few days restaurant hopping this was a real treat. We even ordered dessert, something we usually don't do. But the food was just outstanding. We definitely want to come back.
Amanda Garley
Went here for a private event upstairs and wow! The room was gorgeous, the view was delightful and the food was superb! The staff was fun too, they made me laugh a few times. I ordered the gumbo, a shrimp and rice dish similar to jumbalaya, and bread pudding. Delightful! The building is charming, the staff told me it was built in 1905 and was originally a music shop where Louis Armstrong bought his first trumpet. I'm not sure of the accuracy but if that's true, that's pretty darn neat!
Monica Sanders
Best 🥩 I've had in ages! Staff were so friendly and accommodating. Tip them well because they deserve it!
Michael Maguire
What a AWESOME experience. The food was to die for. Our server, Jonathan, was outstanding!
Adriane Price
Our waitress was fantastic and went above and beyond. As a vegan, they didn't have any options, but she tried everything she could and presented a salad dish that was made vegan (yes, all salads are not vegan 😆). I enjoyed it and would return just for the customer service. I only wish I could remember her name. She did have a short haircut and dimples (she was fantastic).
James Froehlich
We dined in the outside seating and enjoyed local jazz and one of the best meals ever in my life!
The culinary team makes all sauces and dressings from scratch and they truly pay attention to the details. We enjoyed a cheese board, salad, entree, and dessert. Each course was as good or better than the previous.
Highly recommend!

Holly is an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT! Food is incredible, and compliments are due to the whole team.
Kipp Hollingsworth
Fantastic food and service. Good wine list. Fun drinks. The staff is always dressed for white linen table service; however, due to the location and the frequent walk-ins, there is no set dress code, so you won't look out of place in casual clothes or dressed to the nines.
