Reviews of Original Pierre Maspero's
Tasha Matkovich
The food was amazing, my mother loved the beans and rice and I highly enjoyed their chicken and waffles. Especially the seasoning they add to the breading for the fired chicken, it was very good. Then my mother got the bread pudding as a dessert, she loved it and even said it was one of the best she's had. The atmosphere was fun and friendly, very light and welcoming. Service was wonderful, we absolutely loved our waitress Shelly. She was so much fun, patient, and so kind. It was a really great restaurant, with a good amount of dishes, drinks, adult drinks and desserts.

We found this restaurant through a recommendation from a local and we were not disappointed. Overall it was a very cozy experience as we had a small table for a party of six but it was enough space to not feel squashed. Our server was super friendly and helpful with the menu so that everyone was happy with their food. I had the Alfredo pasta with blacked chicken and it was very good. Portions are good sizes as they are not too large but well enough for a single person, though I would not recommend sharing. Definitely will consider coming back here.

The atmosphere is great Cold Ac. Our server Mary was the Best! A true southern gem! You gotta try the fried green tomato and shrimp appetizer. The Shrimp and Grits where amazing and the seafood pot pie was outta this world. Oh then there was a homemade bread pudding covered in a caramel sauce that just topped it all off perfectly! Definitely would recommend!

Me wife and I came here during our honeymoon for a celebratory breakfast!
We were so lucky to be helped by Mary and Robin- both of who made us feel incredibly welcome, as they quickly charmed us with their loving personalities- seeing both of these wonderful ladies is worth the trip to Pierre Maspero’s alone!
Then the food! Our breakfast was absolutely delicious! We both left two clean plates, with smiles on our faces!
The service was phenomenal - our bottomless mimosas (and our waters! Robin made sure we were hydrated!) were never less than half full.
All-in-all, we can’t think of a better way to spend a morning getting breakfast in New Orleans than hanging with Robin and Mary at Pierre Maspero’s.

Service was very friendly. I appreciated the Covid vaccine check at the front door. My food was served quickly. Unfortunately, my meal wasn't hot enough. It was warm, but not hot. Some of the rice felt uncooked. Additionally, I had to ask for a second set of silverware since my set had food particles still attached. In good news, I thought the flavor and taste of the good was very good.

The atmosphere is nice in here. It's not very big but it's comfortable. The servers were cordial and attentive. The good was good. The of us ordered the chicken and waffles and it was smackin'. I would recommend trying this place out for a quick bite.

One of our favourite NewOrleans Breakfast places. The Grand Gillette was particularly delicious. The Bloody Mary’s were exceptionally good as well, the vodka being drawn from a large glass container on the counter in which the vodka marinades with olives and chillies. Special mention must go to waitress Mary, who is as lovely and welcoming as she is entertaining. Highly recommended.

This restaurant was decent. The alligator and the French onion soup were to die for. Actually the soho was the best we’d ever had. However, the entrees I didn’t enjoy as much. I got the sampler with the gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans and rice. It was the least satisfying dish I’d had in New Orleans. Just a personal opinion. The waitress was nice. The drinks were eh, ok.
Lori Broughton
Yes y'all! Great place for dinner! I don't know what the season their food with but it definitely takes it next level! Trust me & order the seafood pot pie & their chicken & waffles! I left there feeling great & super satisfied! I was surprised with how amazing something so simple could taste! Great staff as well! Y'all really know what you're doing at this place!

Absolutely incredible dinner in a great, quaint, setting. Everything we had was delicious and even though the portions seemed a little smaller than expected at first, everyone in our party left full. They definitely know how to put a dish together here — this was a great final meal on our vacation.

We went here for the breakfast. The lady who sat us at the table was very cordial and do was our server. I got their Maspero's special omelette while my husband got the veggie one. The breakfast items were flavourful. They are generous with their memosas. We were quite drunk on them.
Ganesh B
Historic place— was likely there before USA was established.
Food was Good. We tried blackened chicken jambalaya and blackened red fish. Both could have used a bit more acidity for our taste, but otherwise no complaints.
Kennisha was Excellent— liked her calm, attentive and pleasant demeanor throughout our dinner.
Romel G
Weekend trip to New Orleans and this place came up in my search. The food wasn't bad, but there isn't any diversity in the menu. The menu was practically the same as Oyster house and many other restaurants in the quarter. I order the shrimp etiffou and the sampler. But the bread pudding was really great!
Drew Looyenga
I was only in NOLA for enough time for a few meals, so I wanted to make it count and get everything local I could. Here at Pierre Maspero's I was able to get a sampler that gave me crawfish etouffe, shrimp gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans and rice. Partner had chicken and waffles. Food was all fantastic.
Drinks were strong and tasty. Our server Shelly was an absolute pro and truly made our dinner special.
Jessica H.
Absolutely terrific!
Listen, my husband and I wandered in here after an early morning cemetery tour. The heat index was already north of 100 degrees, so we would have eaten pretty much anywhere and called it good enough. I can’t believe how lucky we were to find this place.
The service was exceptional! Our server, Damon, was a total sweetheart! He chatted with us amiably and was so quick and attentive, it felt like we were in a friend’s kitchen.
And the food! I got the biscuits and gravy, and my husband got the andouille sausage and both were so, so delicious. The bottomless mimosa was never allowed to run dry even once. We were even handed one “to go” in a plastic cup.
Really, we just loved this place! Highly recommend!
Kristen Yantis
We called ahead to see if they had dishes without seafood as my husband has a severe allergy. We called several places before and they were not pleasant nor took it seriously. Katie B was our server and she was very helpful selecting safe dishes for him. I had the shrimp & grits and it was AMAZING. So light and the heirloom tomatoes were so fresh and yummy. Katie suggested my drink and it was so good I got one to go! Thank you for a wonderful experience and accommodating us.
Rebekah Cathey
I was told by a friend this place had the best bread pudding they’ve ever had so of course it was a must try. The bread pudding did not disappoint. Texture and flavor was on point!
The staff were friendly and got us (all 8 people!) in and out quick with just our bread pudding so we could get to our haunted tour on time.
Janet
This is the second time I’ve eaten here. I ordered the fried green tomatoes with shrimp. Loved! So tasty. For the main course, I ordered the shrimp and grits. Grits were interesting. They weren’t creamy grits but more like a lumpy softball. Are they supposed to be this way? They may not have been creamy, but they were still tasty. Great staff too!
Bridgette Stine
Our waiter, Kelvin, was great. He was very attentive and waited patiently while we asked tons of questions about the menu.
My husband ordered the Crab Cake Maspero. It was amazing. After trying some of his, I wished I would have orderd it. The only down side, the three crab cakes were small. He said he could have eaten three more. Make sure to get an appetizer.
My son had Chicken and Waffles. It came with a honey tobasco sauce he didn't care for but the maple syrup it also came with was good. The chicken was really good but not enough chicken to waffle ratio for his liking. Still 5 stars in his book.
My daughter had the Grilled Chicken Goddess Salad. She said it was very good and particularly liked the pickled onions. Overall a good salad.
I had the French Onion soup. It only comes in one size, which is more a cup size than a bowl but the taste was great. It comes with two different cheeses and as a native of Wisconsin, I appreciate that. The broth was a little thicker than I'm used to but it was still delicious.
For dessert we tried the Key Lime Pie (they were out of their Bread Pudding). It was pretty darn good and we are connoisseurs of Key Lime Pie.
Lastly, I had two drinks. I tried the Mardi Grita and the Peppermint Patty. The Mardi Grita is a nice twist on the margarita with some blackberry liquor. The Peppermint Patty would have been SO much better if it had icecream in it. The flavor was great and it was strong, like a martini should be. I just missed the dessert in the dessert drink.

If this your first time to New Orleans, this will be a great start. Fantastic friendly servers.
Shrimp and grits are delicious. The Maspero omelet is a true New Orleans experience. Kids loved biscuits and gravy. This location is close to hotels, the parking lots are a short walk and you'll see plenty on your way.
This place makes you feel welcome and want to come back with friends and family.
V Tancredi
Had lovely service here in a friendly atmosphere. We had blackened alligator and the sampler of rice and beans, gumbo, jambalaya and was all excellent.
I was surprised by the alligator.
The place was a little crowded and drafty when it's cold, but definitely worth a visit. It has that comfortable feeling about it combined with great food.
Julie Roach
Nice ambiance. Attentive and personable servers and staff. Jalicia was great! I don't like spicy food, and they were happy to help direct me to non-spicy options. The French onion soup was delicious, but just a little too salty. The meat pies were good. The "pot pie" was more like a dumpling in a cream sauce rather than a filled pastry. It was good, but not overly flavorful. And the super sweet Marie Laveau cocktail hit the spot.
D Day o' reckoning
Great food at Pierre Maspero's. The French Onion Soup was on point. The meat pies were excellent. I've had better fried alligator bites. Overall great though.
Junaid Mukhtar
Really enjoyed the food here. The chicken and waffle was fantastic. Chicken had a bit of sweet taste to it, making it perfect. I also tried the alligator Benedict, also really good. I’d highly recommend this spot.
Courtney K
The best breakfast I’ve had so far in NOLA.
The staff were all super friendly. Watching them work together they seemed more like family than anything else, which of course gives you the warm and fuzzies about being a part of.
We ordered the Louisiana Lost Bread- amazing rendition of French toast. The Andouille sausage and the eggs Benedict were also both wonderful.
There was no wait, either! Definitely recommend coming here.
Traveling Goose
This place was super nice, better than a few of the other restaurants in the quarter, however they were so understaffed and absolutely packed. The wait staff was still kind, friendly, and doing their best, but they definitely should have had more help than just two of them! Outside of that the food was really tasty and I would like to go back sometime!
Fernando Bayuga
I had the fried green tomatoes off the appetizer part of the menu and they were so good! Also the crab cakes were done the way I like them crispy on the outside tender on the inside and absolutely fresh and tasty.
April Walker-Davis
This is absolutely the place to go for authentic creole cuisine in the French Quarter. This place was recommended to my husband and I by a local Uber driver. This will forever be a must stop when we travel through. Worth Every penny!
Elizabeth Duey
Bonjour, the food was soooo good. We started with Fried Green Tomatoes With Gulf Shrimp Remoulade and Spinach And Artichoke Dip.
I had the Crescent City Sampler platter, my son ordered Blackened Redfish.
Our server was Shelly, she gave us information on the city, the great places to go and was replacing our sodas before we knew they were empty.
This is a Gotta Go Spot in the French Quarter.
Kasia
The vibe of the place was great! Our waitress was super nice. We got the gumbo and Muffuletta which were both good, but the gumbo could have had a bit more spice. The Muffuletta was definitely a big meal! We also ordered sangria which was just okay. We've definitely had much better sangria. I would definitely return for the vibe and try something else.
Jamie Avila
The food was so good!! The service was amazing! My husband and I had the bottomless mimosas which were very good and of course always FULL! But I have to say the French onion soup was the best I’ve ever had! Thanks for a great New Orleans dining experience!!
Daisy Walker
From the time the host greeted us at the door until we left, everything was excellent. DESMOND was our server. WOW! If he isn't their best, he has to be close. He took excellent care of us. He was friendly, personable, and made us feel welcome as soon as we sat down. My husband had the Seafood pot pie and a side of crawfish etouffee. I don't like to step out on a limb often so I kept it simple with the fish and shrimp combo platter. The husband said his was absolutely delicious. Mine was wonderful as well. The shrimp and the fish were light, flaky and delicious. We added a bread pudding in caramel sauce at the end. Excellent decision! The building is one of the original buildings, I believe from the 1700s. It's a gorgeous, little cozy corner spot. We will definitely be back if we're ever in the area again!
Corey J Jeffries
The restaurant was suggested to me for breakfast. It did not disappoint. The food was great and my waitress was very knowledgeable about everything. I ordered the Louisiana Lost Bread & the Grand Gallette.
Jeff Nelson
Couple of reasons for the low food score, they were out of their two main specialties for breakfast. I got the Maspero's omelet instead, which was fine, but a little under seasoned. Hash browns seemed a little old too. Staff and atmosphere were great though, would like to try some of the other dishes.
Shadow
Awesome place I only went here once and just had the chicken and waffles which were amazing. The atmosphere is cool since it was built in 1778 I believe. The waitress was the greatest waitress I’ve ever met she was very funny and had a lot of energy! Hope to come back someday.
lakeshia hardy
Ms. Mary was awesome. I came in looking for food and I got that plus more. I enjoyed her presence. She worked the room and made everyone smile. 😁. I left this place full from the delicious food and feeling good from Ms. Mary. Everyone must go!
Love. Love. Love.
Becky C.
The resturant seemed a little short staffed but that's understandable. They still hustled and got us seated as quick as possible. Food came out quick and was fantastic! We ordered a bunch of appetizers to try a little of everything. Fried green tomatoes and alligator bites were our favorite!
Eliza Veta
Feel free to skip alligator bites in appetizers section (heavily breaded, tiny, chewy pieces) there are better places to have it like Market Cafe just maybe 5 mins walk away.
Biscuits and gravy were just ok as well, a little more gravy would make a big difference.
Crab cakes are a totally different story - DELIIIICIOUS! If I knew I'd just get a bunch of them and that's it.
Good service overall.
Chris Quek
Had chicken and waffles and Blacken Chicken with Jambalaya
Serving size is decent. I find the chicken on both dishes on the dry side, though flavour is OK. Jambalaya is just OK too. Everything is kinda just above average.
FNU Arisandy
We walked the streets around Bourbon street through the evening to find a spot to eat. After many cancellations, we were kinda desperate and ended up at this restaurant to eat whatever could make up full (instead of satisfied). We were surprised with their delicious dishes and drinks!!! I ordered French Onion Soup. It was the best one that I've ever had in my life! I also ordered the Blackened Red Fish with sauted veggies (it was a WOW!). To close our order, we also tried their key lime pie and bread pudding. They were soooooooo good! Overall, we loved this restaurant and will come back again when visiting New Orleans in the future. Wish we could find it in Cleveland, Ohio so we could come everyday lol. Any ways, thank you for keeping my bag (as I left it last night). Also, Lisa (the waitress) was a great personality!!!! and so were the others (we assume). Thank you for making our night!
Sarah Brooks
The service here was fantastic. Shelly is very attentive and eager to make your experience exactly what you would want. The meat to bread ratio on my muffaletta was slightly disappointing for $19 when compared to prictures I had seen, but the flavor was exceptional. The gumbo and jambalaya weren't quite as good as some of the others I've had while in town either. The drinks though! If you want a high quality huricane, this is the place to be.
Bottom line: come here for the history and the drinks, and bring your whole paycheck.
Lili Lee
Great restaurant to visit while in New Orleans! The french onion soup was absolutely delectable! The burgers, fries, chicken tenders, and muffulettas were great as well! Service was fast and we were seated pretty much immediately without having a reservation.
Tiffany Edwards
Amazing food and great vibes! Our waitress Mrs Mary was one of a kind! She kept our endless mimosas coming and was just the sweetest lady!
Marla M
Unique dining experience! Very cool atmosphere, old building where Andrew Jackson had been. We loved the jambalaya and the fried green tomatoes.
Bob Shipley
Excellent food. The meat pies and cheese filled french rools were awesome. Blackened chicken was spot on but Jambalaya was kinda dull. My wife had the sampler and says it was good. Service by Jeleesia was very attentive. Bread pudding and Irish coffees rounded out the meal.
Yara P. N. de Sa
We had such a great time! I had crab cakes and my boyfriend had blackened redfish. You should definitely try it. And don’t forget to leave room for homemade caramel bread pudding. Shelly was our server, and she’s wonderful: super friendly and helpful in making our dining choices.
Jingjin Wang
Food was just ok compared to other good restaurants nearby. Saw the good reviews and visited here, but the service was really bad, very impatient and slow. Food served not warm, didn’t feel like freshly made. Especially the sampler, besides lots of rice, there was very little meat, with $20 per serving? There are so many other good ones we tried. It was very disappointing.
LP Stout
This is exactly the kind of place that screams French Quarter to me!
Our waitress was fabulous! She gave us great menu suggestions!
Good place to start your day!
Dorcas Rodriguez
Definitivamente recommend this place. We came in due to the positive reviews and then our concierge confirmed to come. The executive chef Jermaine was soo pleasant, he review the menu with us and made recommendations. His suggestion for the Seafood Pot pie was ON POINT!! And the crab cakes Soooooo delish!! Our waitress Tymekie was soo sweet and on TOP of our mimosas. She kept the mimosas coming. Come visit this spot!!
Elizabeth Soper
THE FRENCH ONION SOUP AND KEY LIME PIE WAS TO DIE FOR!!!!! We ate here and absolutely loved the food and the atmosphere. We came back AGAIN the very next day to get a take out bowl of french onion soup and slice of keylime pie because we couldn't get enough. Miss this place already
Amber V
A MUST for breakfast and bottomless mimosas that are truly bottomless in NOLA!
The place was clean, the staff super friendly and attentive, and the food was *chefs kiss* beautiful!
Stacey b
Tasty food but not enough food for the price point, espically for breakfast which tends to be larger as its cheaper then lunch or dinner foods. They were out of mufalettas too.
But very frendly service. Cheery staff!
Sadly it was overpriced in our opinion as we paid almost $200 for breakfast for 4 people that got one appetizer to share, one entree and one alcoholic beverage per person. It was yummy food. The adoulade was a bit runny for our preference but it was delicious. Everytyung came out hot. The grilled chicken salad was small but tasty, the chicken came out hot so that was nice. the portions were smaller so we were hungry again in an hour or so.
Phil Wever
Awesome experience. Just wandering around from the hotel and found this spot. Had not eaten anything but airport food.
Staff was welcoming and food was tasty.
Hope to make it back before our trip ends.
Randy Schaffer
I was pleasantly surprised with a very nice breakfast and a bloody Mary . I remember this place when we used to come to the mosperos let's move down the road and got great sandwiches.
Andreas Aristidou
We had such a good time here sitting on the bar. We were told of a 45 minute waiting time but were then able to sit us in 5 at the bar which probably made our experience so much better. The bar staff were so much fun to interact with and just observe having fun. The ambience of the place is super cool along with all the cool decorations and the food amazing! Tip: If you have a birthday, let them know, they’ll make a big fuzz about it!!
Vic Ritchey
Nice Louisiana Cajun food in an authentic old building full of history of a different time. You can feel the historic atmosphere of this place.
ilyalways101
Great atmosphere, friendly servers, and flavorful food! Bloody Mary tasted standard and good. I got the sampler and everything was delicious. Best thing was the jambalaya!
Dwight Hobberechts
My first time at this restaurant. Nice atmosphere. Good service. My muffaletta and fries were fresh and delicious. I will be back again.
Pamela Charboneau
This was our first stop in our New Orleans "food tour". We wanted to try a restaurant in the French Quarter and Pierre Maspero's caught our attention. Being from the Midwest, we had to try the Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer, and they didn't disappoint. I tried the sampler of Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, Jambalaya, and Crawfish Étouffée (I think). My grandson had the Maspero Burger. My daughter had a small bowl of soup, but was more interested in the cocktails; with a bar nearby, I don't blame her. It was nice to step in from the sun, relax with family, and enjoy some food and drinks.
Cori Frede
The spinach dip for the appetizer had a bit of a kick. Most people probably wouldn't notice it but I hate spicy stuff so even a little goes a long way for me. The bread pudding was amazing for dessert.
I did like that they had the history of the building directly on the menu so it was kind of interesting to see how it all ties together.
John Tucker
Good food in an interesting old building in the next block from the Omni Hotel and the Supreme Court building. Shrimp and grits was very flavorful, but be prepared for a creamy garlic and white wine sauce, rather than a classic southern butter type of grits. The Grand Gallette is a great take on eggs, bacon, and a potato cake (parmesan) for breakfast. Very friendly staff.
J Lynn
When the business owner or Management team cares enough about their customers by being highly concerned about the quality of our experience, it gives me pause to make room for a 2nd opportunity.
Will definitely give Maspero's another chance. They weren't that far off to begin with so looking forward to better.
Maybe it is just too crowded in NOLA to keep up with fresh demand.
The Roast Beef sandwich was dried out although braised deliciously.
The Muffaletta was greasy on the bottom bun and had bits of burned cheese. The Olive Gardiner-esque spread was sparse and could have had way more zing to make the sandwich pop.
The fries were disappointing. Could have been left off since their preparation was an entire afterthought. Some burned, too greasy, cold and a few fresh ones thrown in.
Overall, there IS way better in the City. Not worth the effort since they made no effort.
Gertrude Jean Pierre
The waitress, Shelly, was great. Food good and cooked well. Love the bread pudding, was the best
Kim G
We went for a late breakfast as our hotel room wasnt ready yet (just got off the plane) and had a great server, and great food. I had the cajun omelette and some green boozy drink, and it was fantastically prepared and plated. My friend got the bottomless mimosas (quick refills, ya'll) and the biscuits and gravy, which i tried too and were delicious. Will return before the trip is over!
Suzanne Cahill
The blackened redfish paired with jambalaya is so tasty, you’ll come back again for it. Great historical bldg. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Always an enjoyable dinner.
Nina Guidry
Finally, good cajun food!! We have eaten at 7 different places since being in Nola for the past 5 days and have been so disappointed in the lack of pride most places have put in their cajun cuisine. I was pleased with Pierre Maspero's waist staff, cleanliness, and cajun cuisine! We had 2 Bloody Mary's, a crayfish roll appetizer, a muffletta, and the chicken Alfredo that set us back $81 before the tip but we were happy to pay for good cajun food. As a cajun who has enjoyed home-cooked cajun cuisine my whole life,, they did not disappointed. We WILL be back
gloria mcbeth
There are no words that can describe the epicurean delights at this establishment. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. If I could only suggest one item it would be the Seafood pot pie.
Jennie Rountree
We had drinks and crab cake appetizer. The crab was very fresh although it was a little bland. We both added some hot sauce to them which made them better.
Charles Moore
Good location, good, atmosphere, and service. Had chicken and waffles paired with a Pierre Paloma with Key lime pie for dessert.
R Kelton
Fried green tomatoes were so good. The best bloody Mary I have ever had. Service was excellent and very friendly. I can't say enough about this restaurant...definitely try it
Jon Hinds
Not impressed. The gumbo and the jambalaya were good but the fish was dry and the other food was all bland.
Greg Dieter
Service was apathetic.
Looking at the menu, prices, and fare, I thought this was going to be a nicer experience. The food was pretty good, but the prices did not reflect the service, portion size, or atmosphere.
The space was really nice, but maybe a tier lower than what I expected for the price.
Fried green tomatoes cost $10-$20, and we got two tomatoes in all, about the size of the circle that is formed if you put your index and thumb together. They were not above average tomatoes to warrant this size/price.
Sampler entree also had small portions, but I really enjoyed the etouffee and red beans and rice. The gumbo was good, but a little watery for me, but that depends on preference! But again, for the quality and price of the dishes, I expected more.
I would come here again, but probably for a different appetizer and a sandwich. Seems like it's aimed at tourists maybe?
Jack Gadzala
Excellent restaurant featuring local fare in an authentic environment. Delicious food and decent drinks. Pleasant historic ambiance.
Exceptionally friendly service, though the current environment (apparently) results in understaffing. Consequently, wait times for both food and the final check can be “leisurely”. Recommend
mary orozco
This was such a good pick for a casual dinner after sight seeing. Blacken shrimps!! Chef's kiss... to die for. Are literally the best shrimps I've ever tasted. Jambalaya was delicious. Bread pudding was perfect texture. Sherry gave the best hospitality. Will def recommend
Rosey Mosqueda
We came for their bottomless mimosas $15 😏
Terri was a freaking delight and I miss her already.
We started with the Louisiana Lost Bread $13 a mixture of crepe and French toast, my mouth was in heaven. 🤤
The Andouille & Eggs was probably my favorite $15. So soooo good
Great location. Food bursting with flavor. Great service
Steve Kennedy
I like this place. I would say the food was pretty damn good, but the history of the place really makes it a place to go!
Ricky Robertson
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. My family and I are from Texas, and I can tell you that the people of New Orleans do not lack friendliness or hospitality, and the staff at Pierre Maspero's is a shining example of that. Our waitress Mary was remarkable and sweet. We can't wait to go back again in the future!
Arunima Sircar
incredible chicken jambalaya, gumbo and the best blackened alligator (which wasn’t actually on the menu!). Would also HIGHLY recommend their Cajun bloody Mary’s!
Sulamit Arteaga-Jaiyesimi
First of all I have to give a huge thanks to Chris the manager that helped us get a great parking spot right upfront. The atmosphere here was great everyone was super friendly and our waiter Jalicia was very helpful and brought over our drinks and food promptly. We had chicken and waffles that was really good but the best dish was the chicken Alfredo it had the most creamiest sauce ever that was so delicious I almost went back to the kitchen to ask for the recipe. I will definitely be back for the pasta.
Destin Givens
Cool place to eat but do not expect fantastic food or service. There were 4 tables available when we arrived and we had to wait nearly 10 minutes to be seated. No idea why. The hostess just told us to wait and never came back for us. Our waitress couldn't be found for several intervals but she was nice. Food was just meh. Not great, not bad. Atmosphere was the best part. Very cool restaurant in a great location.
P K
Seated quickly, best (and first) burger I've had in NOLA... they even asked how I wanted my burger cooked!! Awesome sign. Little dirty bit most places in the area are... Server was polite, love the old building look (hope a lot of the area retains the historical look).
Susan Sanders
Staff were friendly and fun. Great first taste of cuisine. Flavors to sit up at take notice of. Atmosphere nice & cozy.

Another gem discovered in New Orleans. They had a great menu, excellent service, food was tasty and how cool to think that battle plans were made here that changed everything!
Beth Binder
WOW! Kelvin G, our waiter tonight, was amazing! He was so kind, attentive & friendly. Sincerely the best dining experience we've had here in New Orleans, because of Kelvin. Trust his recommendations...they are on point! The food was excellent & the atmosphere was lovely. I HIGHLY recommend visiting the Original Pierre Maspero's restaurant. I wish we had discovered it sooner. Everyone was so friendly, but Kelvin G. was especially great. If you visit Pierre Maspero's, I hope you're lucky enough to have him is your waiter. He made the last dinner of our honeymoon very comfortable & pleasant. Thank you Kelvin & the chefs and entire staff at the Original Pierre Maspero's restaurant. It was an absolutely wonderful experience.

Great food and wonder service set is a old building makes for a great New Orleans experience

OK. This is hands down my FAVORITE restaurant in NOLA. I come every single time and recommend this place to everyone. The spinach dip is so good I’m pretty sure I’ve had wet dreams about it.
Also BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS. HELLLLOOO 😍
MISS MARY is an absolute Angel and will constantly fill your glass for hours. Also they don’t judge if you only order 3 spinach dips and debate taking some to go.
Love this place. It’s worth the wait if there is one.
Cassidy Wilson
The service was great. Our server was very nice and quick. The food didn't take too long to come out but also wasn't too quick, iykyk. The crab cakes were good, gumbo was very good The chicken jambalaya was okay, lacking flavor and the chicken was also dry. We went on a night where they happened to have a full house and it's not a huge place so it got pretty tight.
Mike D
I was there for a late breakfast. The price here is a little high, but the food quality was excellent. The coffee was also excellent and worth mentioning.
I ordered the omelette with alligator sausage. I have always enjoyed eating gator, and to be hesitant of gator meat is a mistake that leaves you missing out. The flavor is light, similar to chicken, so it is all in how you cook/prepare it.
Maspero's has a setting that matches with the french quarter style of old buildings and stone walls or floors. It can be a little cramped if it gets crowded in there, but the store has a lot of personality.
Sebastian Piccione
Great food, great service. Our server was one of the best parts of our entire New Orleans trip!
Kristie Viveros
Y’all when I tell you I forgot picture that’s what I mean!! It was so good I just forgot we had breakfast there and boy it was delicious. I just had a standard breakfast eggs, potatoes, bacon, etc and hubby had the andouille sausage and eggs with grits. He kept burning his mouth because it was so good and he just couldn’t wait for it to cool down. All help kept saying was how good it was. I can’t wait to visit again would love to try dinner here. Thank you for such great service and food.
John Owens
Noisy! Great location, salon much smaller than it looks due to clever use of mirrors. Waitresses well into the vibe. Great food and service. I had the chicken/waffle so sweet and savoury. Georgina had New Orleans taster, very good and very popular. Malbec was great too!
Jeff Nugent
Favourite meal in NOLA! Everything there was great - French onion soup, jambalaya, red beans. We’re going back again tomorrow. Cheryl gave us great advice about food and drinks, and we praised chef Chris so much he came out to talk with us. Great night!
Justin Fish
We came here for a quick snack before leaving the area. We were sat quickly and had good, quick service. We got French onion soup and gumbo and they were both delicious. The place has been here for a very long time and you can feel that in the best of ways.
Chaz England
Food was average but service made the experience worthwhile. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were awesome but the grits were dry, but I coupled them with the hot honey glaze that normally goes on the chicken and waffles and it made them palatable. All in all, good.
Daniella Fodera
Went here for lunch. Food was mediocre. Would not recommend ordering a salad. It was not even dressed
Janie Taylor Euell
The food was good, the service exceptional, and the location unique and sadly historically significant. I recommend the seafood potpie and bread pudding.
Brian Jolly
Service with Shelly was outstanding. Came for the French Onion soup and it didn't disappoint, quite possibly the best I've ever had, and I order it ALOT. The rest was good, but not on par with that soup. Dessert at the table next to us looked very good. Great cocktail menu. Cheers 🍻 🍲
Jody Taube
I probably wouldn't eat here again. I git served dirty silverware twice. My eggs were bland & my biscuits were overdone! And we never received our soda we ordered
Kelly Hennessy
Absolutely outstanding fried green tomatoes, blackened red fish was perfectly cooked, staf was outstanding. A must stop if your in town.
Jeff Verrette
Great historic restaurant right in the heart of the French quarter. Assorted food with a highlight on good southern creole comfort food. If you are going to be in New Orleans this is a definite must. Staff are all friendly, great with the kids and food is always plentiful and tasty. Get yourself a hurricane ...or 2 you won't regret it!
Paul Torres
The onion soup was delicious my son couldn't get enough of it had to fend him off wit my butter knife blackened chicken alfredo was great I had the roast beef sandwich was to die my young son got the blackened red fish he finished it all that hardly happens all in all everything was delicious an awesome little pricey but worth the money thanks guys an gals great job 👍😀😋

I came here on a weeknight before Fat Tuesday. Though Bourbon Street was loud and expected, this was a nice retreat from that. The chicken alfredo was beautifully prepared and rich with flavor. Not a bad selection of wines to pair, so overall, the dining experience was pleasant. There is also a good selection of cocktails that would quench anyone's thirst. I wish there were more patrons (8:30pm), but I may have been early. It did pick up as the evening progressed. I would imagine this place gets packing at a later hour. The crab cakes look incredible, so I'll have to return for those on another visit. Darius provided excellent service and was really attentive. A classy guy.
Robert Zittleman
Found this restaurant while looking for another one, and we are very happy about that! Their food is New Orleans style and excellent. Sizes were very generous. The staff were enthusiastic and helpful. Definitely on my repeat visit list.
Chelsea Hilton
Not the best dinner experience in New Orleans. Food was decent but nothing to recommend. Overall, overpriced place with small portions. The server brought the wrong wine twice and charged us for the wrong glass also. Atmosphere and service is like a sports bar, so the high meal prices and low dinner lighting don’t fit. We were sat under the ac unit which dripped on me.
Brittany Horne
From the outside this place is pretty unassuming, but by far one of the most amazing French onion soups I have had! The blackened redfish was delicious! There was a sort of pick three dish that was just ok, but our waitress was very sweet and gave honest recommendations. Would definitely be sure to revisit!
Susan Stockstill
We had a late lunch and the food and service were excellent. Lisa was our server and she was very attentive and took great care of us. We ordered the muffaletta and the sampler, both were great as were the drinks. We will definitely be back!
Aubrey Guetlein
The BEST blackened chicken and alfredo. Wonderful service and beautiful atmosphere in this historic space.
Deepak N
Very good food if you are looking for tasty creole cuisine. Bit tight seating and chairs were not that comfortable to sit on and felt like it’s going to break if I sat back on it as it was swinging a bit for whatever reason. But food vice, you can’t go too wrong with this place. Thumbs up.
Christopher Dahman
Excellent experience. We chose this spot to eat brunch while walking around town. Beautiful building with lots of history! The staff was very friendly and attentive. I was immediately won Over with the $12 bottomless mimosas that all the staff helped keep refilled. We had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer which was delicious and served with a great remoulade. We both ordered the eggs Benedict (our favorite) with grits and were very pleased and full when we left. Highly recommend!
Matthew Cunningham
Best restaurant experience of our entire New Orleans trip. Atmosphere is exactly what you're looking for in New Orleans. Staff was awesome! Food was great and very reasonably priced!
Eric Jeffreys-Berns
Mary gave great customer service. The Maspero's omelette was delicious as was the lost bread. Hearty portions could easily be split. Comfortable atmosphere and very cool temperature inside
Kris Stephens
Had an excellent meal and time here, but the ceiling was leaking onto our table. They moved us, but promptly sat someone else in the same spot. I know it's beyond their control and on a busy Saturday what can you do. Overall, would absolutely return.
Charley Kerr
Awesome food and great staff. Waitress helped with side choice recommendations. Ordered then blackened red fish with vegetables and black beans and rice. Everything was delicious!!
Larry H
I wasnt impressed. It was not busy however I place my order and my soup came out and entree came out right behind it. It was like drop off the soup turn around and drop off my entree. I had the fried fish and shrimp combination however the fish was nuggets and not a whole piece of catfish. I'm not sure if the menu states that but I was expecting that. The fried Catfish & Shrimp did not have any seasoning. With all that being said, I always suggest to give a place at least two attempts so we'll see what happens next time
Jessica Kouzmanoff
Food was delicious! I recommend the seafood pistolettes. Drinks took a while but they were super busy. The host was friendly and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves!
Greg Villareal
Way better than expected. Just walked off the street for a snack. Ordered blackened chicken/shrimp Alfredo and chicken & waffles. Damn good food, great pub atmosphere and friendly staff. A gem against the bourbon street tourist traps.
Patti Jenkins
Katie was an amazing server and was so friendly & welcoming. Best customer service we experienced all week in New Orleans. Fabulous food, unbelievable desserts and great drinks. Must stop in your visit.
Julio Hernandez
This place food was amazing the service was great i had the chicken & waffles with tobasco glaze it was amazing not really spicy just in case had the meat pies great flavor I was there really early so they came in frozen the first time but I told them and they quickly took them back and brought us a fresh batch I didn't even bother me what had just happened the food and the service was so good I stayed in a good mood so I will tell everyone you have to eat at this restaurant I don't think there is one bad thing in their menu!! Go there have the best food in New Orleans
Ralph Aguilera
Awesome! Everything was delicious, good service.
Bo Posey
Crabcakes 10 of out 10
Sampler platter 10 out of 10
Bread pudding 10 out of 10
My boyfriend had the blackened chicken and he loved it. We both had the Marie Laveau cocktail which was also 10 out of 10. Also it's a historical site so that was pretty cool.
Will definitely be returning
FRANK DITTRICK
We went here for our first stop in New Orleans to eat. It was okay - the service was good the meal wasn’t anything that would make me want to come back again for, I might have ordered the wrong items but I’ve had better. It’s good if you are starving and need a place to sit and eat I guess.
Sandi Sundstrom
I'm gluten allergic and our server Mary was not only a joy but super knowledgeable about gluten-free. Food was outstanding and the ambience is gorgeous. Thank you Mary and original Maspero's for an amazing experience! We'll be back!!!
Brandy Antoine
Me and my husband ate here on Wednesday we loved it service was wonderful, food was Excellent our server was the best!! Very kind lady the food she recommended was awesome if I can give 10 stars I would
Trevor Joiner
This place NEVER disappoints. I got the chicken and waffle, she got the crab cakes. As our server warned me, the Tabasco syrup is spicy but it's perfectly balanced by the sweetness. I poured the whole thing on my chicken and waffle. Sure, my mouth was tingling but wow that's good! And she said it was the best crab cakes she's ever had. Absolutely outstanding!
Anteor M'Kay
My favorite restaurant in the quarter! I eat there at least twice every time I'm in the city. Everything is so authentic, not just Cajun but also Creole! and your essentially eating on the steet, watching the big easy crowds walking by ("who dat?!"). What could be more New Orleans??
Bryan Irick
This place has the best food! Im fat and eat out alot lol and I'm telling you it is DEFINITELY worth the time to go. Never had better fried chicken. Meat pies are awesome. Alfredo is off the chain. Do yourself a favor and go check it out.
Deborah East
Overall I liked this place and would go back and try more. I love to visit old places while traveling and is why I tried this place. I was traveling alone so I sat at the bar. The bartender was super nice and gave me great recommendations. I tried the blackened alligator, the chicken and waffles and a mint julep. I love to try chicken and waffles every where I go and is why I went here. They serve it with a whiskey sauce and was the best part of the meal. Over all the chicken and waffles were good too. The chicken had good seasoning and had a nice crisp outside with a moist inside. The waffle had a good sweet flavor but could have been a little more crispy on the outside for my taste. The bartender recommended that I try the blackened alligator over the fried and she was right. The blackened was nice and moist and not too chewy. The mint julep wasn’t remarkable in any way. I wouldn’t order it again.
bick gibbs
Tried this place while we were visiting New Orleans. Had the sampler of Jambalaya, Red Beans and Rice, Etouffee and Gumbo. Etouffee was my favorite but they were all very good!
Jaylyn Knuckles
Knowing the historical background of this place rocked my soul a bit. It wasn't however until I realized the greatness that now resides there. The food was amazing and the service was even better. Mary (not like the virgin) was an amazing hostess. Sweet, kind, and attentive. Kim was definitely dressed to impress and was a complete sweetheart as well. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles with an amazing honey glaze and the drink Marie Laveau. Highly reccomend both.
Britney Zanders
Mary was AWESOME at the bar! Everyone was SUPER kind from the moment I walked into the restaurant. They don't have oysters on the menu but the red beans and rice 🤤🤤🤤. The fried green tomatoes with grilled shrimp and remoulade were absolutely divine as an appetizer! I grabbed a side of catfish to compliment my red beans 🤤🤤🤤🤤 …
Jason Kern
We made the decision for two days of walking NOLA to stop for drinks and apps at as many places as we could. Pierre Maspero's was on my wife's bucket list as it was mentioned in a book as being a great place for a Pimm's Cup. They certainly didn't disappoint which was apparent on the lunch crowd. The Pimm's Cup and a few other drinks were outstanding. We shared an app of alligator which was lightly breaded and extremely tasty. Their dipping sauce was out of this world.
Dara Leang
Came with a party of 8, staff was amazing with getting us seated and served, had a wonderful off menu vegetarian option that looked delicious. Food all around for everyone was amazing.
Max Banach
Landmark authentic New Orleans atmosphere accompanied with the storied history of the building sets the tone for this top of the line Cajun-Creole joint. The friendly staff are more than willing to help you with the menu, and service was faster than I would expect for the amount of guests that were seated. As well, there was great circulation given the hot New Orleans atmosphere which lent to a comfortable dining experience. I recommend getting the blackened chicken fettuccine and bread pudding, but I'm sure the Po Boys are amazing as well!
Anthony Jacobs
We ended up here because they were open when other restaurants weren't. We had great service, great coffee, and great food. I had a seafood omelet that has set a new omelet standard for me. They had a good wait staff and everyone pitched in to enhance the experience. The only reason it wasn't a 5 star experience is that the menu was laminated and it took some class away the restaurant.
Johnny Luciano-Cruz
This was a great find!!! The food was so good and they have bottomless mimosas for $14. The Crawfish étouffée was amazing and I would recommend that you get the fried crawfish on top.
Douglas Cherry
Great breakfast after a night on the town. Started with fresh coffee served with cream and sugar on the side...frequent refills and outstanding service. The Maspero Omelet made with shrimp and crab was very tasty. The Chicken and Waffles with a side of tabasco infused honey was incredible. The atmosphere was all you expect from the Big Easy!
Gx
Not really well maintained or clean but has very good staff. Order the crab cakes they are good. City Sampler and platter is ok.
Jason Hurst
This place is incredible. The food is outstanding, Chris the chef, does an incredible job with everything, some of the tastiest for in town, and miss Mary took incredibly good care of us as well as the bar manager Monique, who together surprised us on our second visit there over the weekend, by mixing up Vieux Carre cocktails for us (off menu) because we had asked about getting them the night before. The food and the service set this place apart as a must visit. I will certainly be back next time I am in town!
jim patane
Fast, friendly service.our waitress was very helpful offering suggestions. A great place too people watch and grab some good food. The red beans and rice were fantastic a staple if new Orleans. The roast beef po boy was delicious if the gravy drips down your hand you know it's good.
Michelle B
Had dinner here Halloween night before our Haunted History tour. Food was great. Service very slow. Following current Covid protocol. Love the ancient stair case. Across the street from the backside of the court house. Small, sports bar atmosphere. Not our thing.
Katrina Randall (Free2BTee)
Good food and huge portions. Went to Pierre Maspero's during Essence Festival. I was craving fried Crawfish Tails and my friend was craving a Muffaletta. By suggestion of the waitress we also ordered the Seafood Pistolettes. We were not disappointed. They were amazing. I'd definitely return just for those alone. My friend said her sandwich was good, but it could have used a bit more of the olive spread. My food was good too, but the crawfish could have used a tiny bit more seasonings. Other than that everything else was solid👌🏾
Shannon Cohen
Friendly staff, food was really good if you like southern cuisine. The location is extremely convenient too. Only gave 4 stars because I went with a group and 2 people's credit cards got charged 3 times. I'm sure this was an honest mistake however a hassle nonetheless. Would recommend for the good, maybe pay in cash if you can. The spinach artichoke dip is a must!
Jason Newcomb
We ate here last night and food was exceptional. The staff was super friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit and we'll make this a regular stop on our next trip to New Orleans.
Chris Helms
The food was great! I loved my breakfast dish so much, I ate here two days in a row.
Everyone in my party thought their food was amazing.
I highly recommend the Andouille & Eggs, I ordered it two days in a row.
. OMG phenomenal!
Jacob Fenzke
Was here in the beginning of the year and they genuinely had some of the best tasting food. The artichoke dip was one of, if not, the best dip I've ever had.
Casey Bee
Food was good but our server was clearly new but I can't fault her for it...but maybe don't point to the drink specials with a well manicured middle finger. Gives the wrong vibe...
Matt Goldstein
This is one of our go to restaurants in New Orleans. It's always very good. The French onion soup is awesome.
Kayla Smith
Food was delicious but the waitress seemed bothered to serve us and would ask us a question only to look out the window and pretend not to care about our answer. Not very friendly or attentive. Sodas were good and fresh which i like. You get very little food for the price.
Cassandra Ryder
The crab cakes were delicious! The shrimp po' boy was good, and all of the staff was super nice!
Jessica W.
Food was delishous and coffee was great, even server seemed great. The lower score is because I didn't get my food and had to wait for the server to come around and ask about it. My husband ate his so it was hot but we didnt eat our meal together. He was finished well before our server came for me to point out my food hadmt arrived. When I did get the good It was pretty good but I was a little underwhelmed at that point. The server apologized for the mix up which was nice. Should have ate the breakfast at our hotel..
Lauren Harper
Friendly service and a nice selection of food.
Nicole Cohagen
Best food and great service! Must stop place when I come to New Orleans. My server was friendly and very attentive shrimp and grits were amazing
Jeremy David Johnson
I quite enjoyed dinner here. Good sampler, loved the red beans and rice in particular. Good beer selection and solid service too.
Rebecca hargrove
The food was an absolute traditional treat. We enjoyed alligator, gumbo, seafood souffle, and a chicken souffle. Along with homemade Creole mayonnaise. The place itself was established in the 1700s and holds a lot of the Old World traits. The customer service was super nice and we loved our server. This place is right in the heart of the French Quarter. This is a must if you're in New Orleans.
Peter DeMasi
Great food and attentive staff, flavorful New Orleans fare. We tried 5 different dishes all were excellent in taste and presentation. I enjoyed the Hot Brown, deep fried Turkey open face sandwich served on French Toast, amazing
Mike Richards
One of my favorite places to eat in New Orleans.
Greg Gowens
Dropped by here because the restaurant we were going to eat at was closed due to the Covid restrictions. We ordered the Fried Alligator for our appetizer. My wife ordered the Crab Cake Maspero. I ordered the Combo Seafood Platter. Serving sizes are generous. The appetizer is big enough for two easily. The Seafood Platter had a huge helping. The Crab Cake Maspero was filling. The Crab Cakes are spicy, just as expected in New Orleans. The catfish and shrimp had a good flavor as well. The catfish falls apart in you mouth. The hushpuppies were typical, nothing special. The French fries were also typical. Overall the meal was very enjoyable. I would highly recommend this location. If you are in the area, give them a try!
Raymond Lui
Serves amazing food, breakfast or lunch. I had one of the best chicken and waffles here. The chicken is really tender and juicy. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere.
Brandon S.
Stopped by for dinner based on the recommendation from our hotel front desk employee. Was only 3 blocks away. It was late at night, around 9pm and the service was good. Food was also good. We started with a glass of Pinot Noir along with the NOLA Blonde Ale. We had Seafood Pistolettes as an appetizer and they were tasty. We decided to split the Blackened Chicken Jambalaya. Some of the rice was undercooked but overall the food was good.
KarinaAngel
Mary was awesome! Tiffany made fantastic adult beverages! We stopped by for an hour on our roadtrip to eat lunch since my partner and I have never been. It was phenomenal! Check this place out!
Henry Reichenbach
I ate there once 6 years ago and I still regularly tell people it was the best meal I've ever had.
Ashar Khan
Food was good, service was awesome. It is the service that made our lunch today special and credit goes our hostess Mary. She made us feel very comfortable and her energy was great.
Lillian Brown
To start: some of the nicest people I have ever met. The minute we sat down with our dogs(outside), they brought out makeshift bowls of water for them. They told us the history of the building, recommendations of their favorite spots in the town, and some great stories. The Blackened alligator was good and got it checked off our bucket list. During corona times I never thought we would find such great company around town. Thank you to everyone working here! (Special thanks to Carl(Karl?) For having a nice conversation with us!)
Cody Huntington
During a two-week business trip to the local area, I ate here twice and was very pleased both times. Had the chicken jambalaya and alfredo pasta, and both were amazing. The bartender was very friendly and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Will definitely be recommending this to my friends/family that visit the area 🔥 …
Brianna Marie
It was just an ok experience. Nice spot. Located in walking distance of the hotel but I did not find anything too special on the menu and the items we ordered were not all that great in taste. However the service was amazing. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly.
Tasha
No reservations and they accommodated all 10 of us.... the food is delicious..I had the seafood pot pie with blue crab and shrimp, perfect sized portion, seasoned nicely and a very little amount of spice
Christie Suddreth-dunn
Rustic and historical vibes here. We Loved it.the staff was welcoming and professiinal. Best Bread pudding I've ever had! Fried green tomatoes with shrimp remoulade sauce over greens was delicious. The Marie Laveau cocktail.... refreshing and flavorful!
Erica Bednar
Came here for dinner when the group I was with couldn't decide where to eat, and they thought the menu sounded good. We were seated quickly and our server was friendly and helpful. The food was underwhelming and bland/average, similar to what you could find among similarly priced restaurants elsewhere in the French Quarter. Overall not bad, but not great either.
Dave Rotach
Desmond was an amazing waiter. No spending ten minutes writing down our order. Nope, and of course everything came out as ordered. Six stars!!!
Marta Assolari
Been there for brunch, they don’t have a proper brunch menu but the breakfast one will be just fine. I got the Florentine (?) omelette with side fresh fruit, so yummy and filling and paid 11$. The 3$ coffee was not the best. Overall good and staff very nice:)
Cheryl Edwards
My husband really liked his chicken and waffles, but for me, it was a very unremarkable meal because I can't even remember what I ordered and we only went 2 weeks ago. That pretty much tells you all you need to know. Although, I do remember thinking everything was fine. But with so many other wonderful places to eat in the Quarter, this wouldn't be high on my list of places to go back to.
Katie Branting
One of the best places we went to in New Orleans. Food was delicious, staff was amazing. Would recommend! Definitely get the fried alligator!
Gopal Samant
The restaurant offers good options in seafood and chicken options. We tried the Crawfish ettouffee, which is Crawfish in a southern gravy with rice. The gravy was extremely tasty(good balance of flavours) but was not serious hot which was a slight let down. We also tried the blackened chicken jambalaya which was a good option. The Crawfish with fettucine pasta and southern creole which was tasty as well.
Amongst the drinks the hurricane was pretty enjoyed. Surely recommend this place for a good comforting lunch.
Erica Thrash
Had dinner Sat 4/30 around 7. Service was quick and no wait. Appreciated finding a restaurant that didn't require reservations since our trip was a last minute plan. Terrific atmosphere with windows all around to enjoy the views of the French Quarter. Fried green tomato app was nice and ordered shrimp & grits and the grits were cooked well. I was disappointed in the "gulf shrimp" just because it didn't really taste like fresh gulf shrimp and the preparation left a little to be desired but the sauce was delicious. My husband ordered the jambalaya and thought it was decent but the grilled chicken was an unnecessary addition. Portions were more than enough and the bread pudding was a great dessert. Overall it was a good dinner. The hurricane and mint julep were both delicious.
Jennifer Garcia
Great food and super friendly staff. We love coming here when we are in NOLA
Caitlin Schroeder
Super great food! The fired green tomatoes were so delicious and so was the bread pudding!
Cynthia Watkins
Great food fast. Friendly Staff. Our Server, Mary was excellent and very attentive. Enjoyed their Muffeletta!
Osman Mejia
The service was a little slow, we had to wait for our order to be taken, on the bright side the food came fast and it was really good.
CouchMan
My wife and I ate/drank here tonight, and we really enjoyed our experience. Katie was a very attentive server, and the food/drinks were very good. I love jambalaya, and theirs was very tasty! For what it's worth, I really enjoyed the eclectic mix of music that was being played.
Ashley Montgomery
If you are in NOLA this is a MUST!!! The crab cakes are DELICIOUS!! Everything is awesome!!!!
Erin Hunt
We loved lunch here! The sharing platter of authentic NOLA rice dishes was the best. My parents split a mufflutta and said it was great. Our server told us he is the birthday king and he got the restaurant to sing happy birthday to my daughter, who had just turned 11. Gave her a button, light up birthday sign and confetti popper. Oh, and the hurricane was refreshing!
Chris Graham
Alright, so I love this place. There's nothing particularly flashy about the atmosphere or the food, but it was so SATISFYING.
The entire restaurant is surrounded by windows, it's on a corner street of New Orleans, so you get a great "people watching" experience.
I will say I was blown away by the bread pudding. Even if you're on a diet, just get it!
Susan Reitenbach
Maybe we hit a bad night or they were short staffed but our experience won't bring us back. The place looked so cute with big wood tables and brick walls with gas lights. We were seated quickly but didn't see a server for around 20 minutes. I had the fried shrimp and hubby had chicken and waffles. The shrimp were OK but lacked seasoning. His waffle was also just OK as was the chicken which was a bit tough. Nothing was horrible but nothing was memorable. The servers seemed to not want to be there. Perhaps they were short staffed but our server was not too friendly.
AnneMarie Shallcross
We had a wonderful breakfast! It was Easter Sunday and our breakfast, and the excellent service, was the perfect start to our day!
Luna B.
This place has the best food. The menu isn't large, but the quality and the flavor are top notch. The staff are amazing and accommodating. If you're in the quarter make sure to add Original Pierre Maspero's to your list!!!
Cassie Qualls
One of our favorite places to eat when we visit New Orleans. Food is delicious, friendly and outgoing staff. Cozy, the tables are pretty close together. It can get really loud, especially when they're busy.
Erica Williams-Rice
My husband and I had our first trip to New Orleans at the end of March. Maspero's was our favorite dinner experience! We shared the large sampler, and had more than enough food for both of us. My sister and brother-in-law ( a NOLA native), my husband and I shared the bread pudding for dessert. Even if you think you don't like bread pudding, YOU MUST EAT THIS! If Heaven has a flavor, it's Maspero's bread pudding. We cannot wait for our next visit to NOLA, and we will return to Maspero's. Our server was fantastic, the restaurant was clean, the atmosphere is fantastic. I'll also mention that we felt that the prices were extremely reasonable.
Update!!! I had the pleasure of dining at Maspero's again just 2 days ago. I took my daughter and nephew this time, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and the atmosphere. My daughter raved over the Shrimp Platter, and my nephew finally got to have REAL gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans and rice. We had the Pistolettes for an appetizer. This is a must visit! The service was fast and friendly even at 7 on a Saturday night.
Tim Frantz
OmG! We love this place and have been back every year. Highly recommend for breakfast. Drinks are good. We love Mary B.! We will be back.
Cynthia IgnisDivine
Some of the best food I tried while visiting. The beans and rice with 'gator sausage was surprisingly good. The seafood pot pie was incredible and the fried green tomatoes have to be the best I've ever tried.
Morenike Coker
Cool place but limited veg food, I ordered brussel sprouts and they were so good.
matt henagan
We had the best waiter that you could possibly ask for he was just all around a very funny and polite guy thank you Jamal
Jennifer Duffey
I'm not a big fan of spicy food so I was a bit hesitant to try the blackened chicken Alfredo. I'm so glad I did! It was amazing. The perfectly blended spices on the chicken when mixed with the Alfredo sauce were outstanding! Phenomenal meal.
Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. 10 out of 10 recommend!
Karen Smith
Loved the option of a Creole sampler with all the faves. The appetizer did not disappoint either
October
We came here during our road trip across the Southern US, and I'm really happy we did. We got crab cakes (which were not bad as someone who doesn't like seafood), chicken alfredo, blackened redfish, and the bread pudding. Everything was amazing and the atmosphere was great as well! You definitely get what you paid for. Totally recommend
Emma Wiles
We got the chicken and waffles and the crab cakes and for dessert, the bread pudding! The hot syrup was a little to spicy for me but they had regular syrup so bless. All so yummy! Highly recommend!
Richard Mendez
Best Shrimp and Grits in the city! Shelley was amazing, and such a doll. Definitely will be back soon. Crab cakes were also bomb!
Akash
The jambalaya we had was lacking in seasoning . But the worst part about the meal was the stench around one of the tables . Made it absolutely impossible to enjoy the meal

This place is amazing. Service was absolutely great. Our waiter gave us the rundown of the entire menu and told us what was popular on it. I ordered the loosey goosey martini and it was to die for. My meal was the jambalaya and I couldn't have asked for a better authentic Cajun dish. We ended up staying for dessert and got the bread pudding. This was my first time eating it and I must say it was great. I will be coming back for the experience and food.
Ron Galloway
Great spot to grab a bite, weather it be for full meal or just a bite before walking the quarter... solid.. alligator bites are ridiculously amazing...will be back without a doubt.
kristi lewis
Tried Alligator. AWESOME! Had crawfish and pasta wonderful. Service was great. Small bathroom was only issue but not a deal closer.
Highly recommended!
Neha Sharma
Pros: Service was fine, and food came pretty fast!
Cons: Food was very average. Caesar salad tasted like store bought dressing and came with dry chicken. The redfish was okay, a little dry with watery and flavorless mashed potatoes. Honestly a little over priced for what you get.

When they say bottomless posted mimosas, they sure do mean it! Full of history great food, even better drinks!! if you come here, you better ask for Mary, or you’re missing out!!!!
Firecatcher3000
Decent food, a bit over priced for the tourist crowd. Portion size on the conservative side. Great atmosphere and location
Kaleda Nassardeen
Awesomeness! The staff, the food, the history. It was a great experience. The fried chicken was juicy and the Red Beans and Rice we're so delicious!
Dietmar Amelang
Despite the low attendance due to the covid environment, the staff was super friendly and helpful. They have a good menu variety of local dishes, and the food was very good for a more casual place. They also have a good selection of local beers. I also enjoy the historic feel of the structure. A very good experience.
Claudia Gonzalez
This was my first food stop on my trip to NOLA, and it was delicious! I ended up going again the next day for my birthday dinner. The shrimp and grits that were recommended by the super friendly server was just mind blowing good.
sylvester sanchez
Greath family dining for family of 5. Meals were amazing and service was quick. With a limited number of wait staff, they were fast professional and friendly. Food was truly a step above what I expected and nailed expected flavor and design. Shrimp and Grits were the best I have ever had. For dessert we had the bread pudding just one, and everyone was able to get their fill. The only thing holding back a 5 star rating were the bathrooms with were cramped, and when ever you washed your hands, the dryer kicked on and blasted you with hot air. But other than that this place is great for families with children and they and you won't be disappointed. That you.
David Roddy
Glad we stumbled across this gem. Superb service, the food is so good I’m coming back tomorrow ! About 100.00 bucks for 2 including 3 great bar drinks and the Barbecue shrimp app, it’s a little work but worth it !
H B
I work here as a teen in high school. The place has changed a little, but the food ans customer service is still great!
Eboney Roney
The rating is based on the food! I’m not bug on fish but the fried fish was DELICIOUS! And the bread pudding and chicken and waffles!!! All was soooo good! Wait staff was mediocre 🤷🏾♀️ …
Angelia Cleveland
Enjoyed every bit and sip
Desierie Gomez
Food was amazing. The waiter was great! Would definitely return! The drunks were so good also!
J Will (FatGirlSlim)
I had the Seafood Pot Pie and the picture doesn’t do it justice. The food and the service was excellent!! Will definitely come back the next time we are in New Orleans!
Keith Dailey
This became my wife and I's “go-to” spot for Lunch/Dinner every day while in the French Quarter, the Blackened Chicken Alfredo (add Blackened Shrimp to mine please - as pictured) was our go-to meal. Our servers were nice and attentive and the food was great. I also had a Shrimp Po-Boy checked off my food list here. A great spot we're happy we found and look forward to visiting again next time we're in Weezy!
John Weatherly
We happened upon Pierre Maspero's looking for a new orleans restaurant that didnt close at 9pm. There are only a few. Really cool history to the building and who used it many, many years ago. Story is on the menu. Food was decent and service was certainly very friendly
Rebecca Brinkman
Delicious French Onion Soup! Everyone was super friendly, I was seated quickly on a holiday and enjoyed the restaurant. Highly recommend!
J Moreira
Ms. Mary did a great job serving our table. Very hospitable Lady. My wife had the shrimp and grits, I had the blackened Jumbalaya. I know now that each place in New Orleans add a different touch to the same food particularly famous in the NOLA. this spot gets 4🌟 just for Ms. Mary alone. Food was good and the bread pudding was amazing. …
Ashley Vargas
Such a beautiful restaurant with fantastic service. We ordered the meat pie appetizer and I had the chicken and waffles and my date had ordered a burger. The food was delish.
Marcy Kellogg
Great experience! Food was awesome, service was great and the atmosphere was amazing! Our server was named London and was great! The hostess was super friendly and we were seated as soon as we walked in the door!
Stuart Simpson
Service and food was absolutely amazing
Kathy Spies
Loved the atmosphere. Service was pretty good for how busy it was. Food was delicious and portions were generous.
Karen Chandler
Great food! Fantastic server, Shelly, made us feel welcome and at home. Lot s of food fresh seafood platter.
Don Temblor
Sassy fun service. Great bloody Mary. OK biscuits and gravy. So so fruit cup. Good place for starting your day
Praveen Roberts
The place was packed the service was fast.
The server was professional.
The jambalaya was dry. The redfish was awesome.
The crabcakes were not my cup of tea.
The vegetables were wonderful.
Makar Huerta
Very nice place and well located. Food is ok, but I super definitely recommend the sampler (great gumbo!)
Thank you!!
Dasia Watts
I ate there last night The young lady at the door Sharon recommended the red fish And jambalaya, vegetables I loved it The service was excellent will be there again.
Jonathan Guthrie (IamBucketdotcom)
I was in New Orleans for a work conference and Pierre Maspero’s was a place I absolutely wanted to try. I had their shrimp po boy and a bowl of gumbo. I was so delightfully full but it wasn’t a miserable full. Just right. The food was extremely flavorful and I loved the atmosphere
Sophia Peng
Breakfast was just average. The Andouille and Egg was basically covered in oil so it tasted very greasy but without much flavor. My friend had the Maspero omelet and she said there’s nothing special. Maybe their lunch/dinner menu is better
Shanthi Fernando
I tried the pot pie and it was really flavorful and totally worth it! Fresh blue crab, shrimp and that herb sauce was so delicious. The biscuit was homemade which is always a plus in my opinion.
Diego Rondán Alfaro
Good place to have some drinks and small plates (alligator and green fried tomatoes,...) good Cajun food and very nice staff!!!
Isabelle Carroll
The food and atmosphere is always top notch. We frequent Pierre Maspero's everytime we come down to NOLA, going on 3 years now. It's usually a Christmas tradition, with Miss Mary being our server. Well she wasn't here this time, but Miss Cree took good care of us, too. We recognized her from the last few visits, she was just the server for the next section over. If you're looking for down-home Southern comfort food, reasonable prices, and honest-to-goodness Southern hospitality, I would ALWAYS go out of my way to get here. Tell Miss Mary those Wisconsin folk sent ya. ☺
Michael Barr
Awesome appetizers. Gumbo was delicious. Definitely recommend the shrimp and grits. Service was spectacular, and food came out quickly.
Mike Setzer
Great place for brunch. Service great even though they were busy. Food was awesome. I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes and shrimp romulade.
Abhisek Ghosh
My usual “Dine in on the first night in NOLA” option. Eases you into the Creole cuisine, very accessible to top locations in the French Quarter.
Tajh Aashil
Very cute spot. The drinks (Hurricane) are soooooo good! The food is so good and great customer service.
E
Had a fantastic meal but forgot my wallet there. Thank you so much to Tiffany, Chris, and the staff for making sure I got my wallet back!
Joe and Anna Richards
Authentic atmosphere and murals, snack-size bites and less tacky screens than most places. Food & drink was good but not fantastic
Ryan (Dunago)
Ordered for pickup through grubhub. Blackend chicken alfredo was very good! I'm generally pretty picky with my alfredo, but it was creamy and the chicken had great flavor. Would eat again
Yeshanth Jayakumar
IMOO, this place deserves a pat on the back. Its a rarity to find a place that we both enjoyed so much to go back again the next day. The best of the lot. Our waitress was the best in business, she was handling so many tabled but was super courteous and gave us recommendations that we went with.
I had the Mississippi Fireant Imperial Red Ale on her suggestion and I really enjoyed. We ordered a appetizer(Fried green tomatoes) but that never came since the waitress made a mistake in not placing the order. Given that we waited for sometime before being seated, we had a chance to decide on what we wanted. Blackened red drum with Chess Grits and Seafood Pot Pie. We usually eat half our portions and swap. For the first time, we were hesitating to swap them . Both of us liked it a lot. The shrimp and the grits were heavenly. This place serves the best Shrimp and Grits.
Our waitress realized her mistake and she ordered a dessert on the house. And, the dessert was as good as the entrees.
We loved the experience, we came back again. We were not disappointed at all.
BEST GRITS !
April Kyle
First of all, our server, Shelly R, was absolutely incredible. We had the alligator appetizers, blacked instead of fried and they tasted great. The texture was nice and flaky instead of chewy! That alone warranted 5 stars, HOWEVER I'm pretty certain their hurricanes are the best in NOLA. And that's a pretty bold statement! A bit steep at $11 each, but they definitely stood out over the dozen or so hurricanes I tried from other places during my week stay.
Tayossi Muse
That bread pudding was so good and big I had to get it to go. The best I have had in a while. Plus it did not have the raisins inside which I really don't care for . Have to go try it if you in NOLA
Anna Yu
Waitress was great and food was decent. Definitely needed something quick because we were behind schedule. And food came our real quick as promised. However, host wasn't really pleasant. Pretty rude and didn't even say a Hello or Welcome or a SINGLE word to us even after we sat down. Didn't even make a single eye contact.
Jill Swanson
We chose this place by their reviews and we are sure glad we did. If you are in new Orleans and looking for an authentic experience, this is the place. Jordan our waitress was excellent and very friendly.
Jay Gamma
Had the fried alligator, gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans & rice. Highlight was the bread pudding, amazing
melissa simonson
The building was super cool! Lots of history there. Food was quite yummy! Our server seemed overwhelmed though and it was so noisy you couldn't hear to talk. Wait was not bad about 20 minutes or so you just join the line and they do first come first seated. I would definitely go back and try it again.
Lysbeth Anderson
Well let me let out as to why I'm rating the 4 stars. Maybe it's a Louisiana thing but the wait time for drinks and food as you sit on the table is long. Other than that the food and staff are great. I had the chicken and waffles for brunch and it is paired with a honey- Tabasco all I can say is very yummy. Waffle a little dry for my liking but overall yummy when blended together. My partner had the biscuit and gravy. Probably one of the homey tasting gravy I've had. I almost took his plate away for me to have. The meal had biscuits, gravy, 2 eggs and 2 pieces of bacon. This place has an old vintage look yo it that gives it a nice scene. It is an old building so it was nice to dine in a vintage spot. Staff were very friendly and super energetic.we really liked that about the place. Good vibes
Dydee Q
They made the seafood pot pie spicy for me. Absolutely to die for! Really cool historical building. Thank you!
Wendy Hiller
The atmosphere is great! The servers were very sweet and attentive. We both had the combo seafood platter, which was very good. The breading on the fried fish and shrimp was delicious and not greasy at all. We got little containers of tartar and cocktail sauce. Overall pleasant experience
June H
I had the Goddess salad, substituted the chicken for shrimp. The shrimp was smaller than expected and I'm pretty sure the dressing was just mayo. It was ok. Service was good. There was too much plastic: the cups, straws, straw wrappers, dressing cups. They'd save a lot more money and make less waste if they swapped out dressing cups for reusable ones and not offer straws unless a customer asked for one.
Jeff McFarland
We went for breakfast. The food was good, though overpriced considering the small portions. There were a lot of employees there but only one person was waiting on all the tables. She was doing her best to keep up while others stood around. She was very welcoming and friendly.
Tammi Shanahan
Our server Mary was amazing she was running the show. She handle just about all the tables. The food was hot and delicious. Chicken and waffles THE BEST .. the sauce they gave with the chicken was the perfect heat. Thanks again MARY
Trav Thom
Mary is the absolute best! Food and service best in New Orleans!
Tyler Bennett
Tasty food, great prices. The history of this building is unique and cool. The ambience is old. Clean dining establishment with a friendly staff.
Chris Freeman
The bread pudding is the best I have ever had! The food, however was middle of the road. The rice in the Jambalaya and Gumbo had some hard bits. Maybe stayed in the rice cooker too long? But in their defense they were fully booked, I would still come back!
Ally Carroway
This was my first time coming to This place and I love it I recommend getting the shrimp and grits omg 😌😍it the best and the seafood platter. And they have the best staff ever …
Dewayne Parks
A must visit for brunch, the bottomless mimosa's were great I got the maspero omelette...so good
Eunice Otutua
This was the best way to celebrate my birthday. I literally wanted to take the chef home. They say New Orleans has the best authentic Cajun food and the restaurant did it justice!!! There’s normal shrimp Alfredo and there’s Pierre Maspero’s!!! Love at first bite ❤️😍 …
Jerry Vinci
Food was pretty good and the wait staff was nice. We originally were sitting at the bar but you could smell the mold and grime. It needs a seriously deep cleaning. After sitting at our table the rest of the experience was great.
Divine fem gangster 555
Jerry the bartender was a great help, never been to NO before, nor this restaurant, and he recommended the best appetizer the fried green tomatoes w shrimp. Amazing! Also whole place is a vibe. Very authentic
D Kechagias
Central location, the Cajun sampler was quite good, fast service.
Fabiola Righi
Good food, although not particularly memorable. Staff was nice.
Bathroom was very unkept, your feet would stick to the floor w/ each step.
Micah Beverley
Charming spot- came here for the french onion soup. We sat at the bar and enjoyed people watching and checking out all the old decor. Est. 1788
Betsy MM
I felt like we were back in time with the heavy dining tables and old world feel here. We were greeted immediately and taken to a table for two. Our server was great, and he was very attentive checking in on us often.
Started with a couple of Bohemian Julep's (and later got two more!) and the fried green tomato/shrimp remoulade appetizer. The appetizer was tasty, we had just had shrimp remoulade at another place that we preferred more. I am guessing that remoulade is like salsa (I am from the southwest what can I say) and everyone makes it a little different and everyone has different expectations.
I ordered the Seafood Pie, my friend ordered the Red Beans & Rice (he was mesmerized that it had alligator in it). I will start with his take on his meal -- he loved it, said it was super tasty and flavorful. For me, I had struggled with my choice of Seafood Pie, as I was leaning towards the Chicken/Waffle. I wish I had leaned more. The Seafood Pie was okay but overpriced @ 27 as I barely found the crab. What my issue was, was the biscuit. The bottom of it was rock hard (overcooked) and it had that texture of having been reheated in a microwave. It was a bit disappointing, but everything else was good.
William Haston II
I will 100% be back to this resturant when visiting new Orleans. The waitress was great; prompt, informative, and polite. The drinks were awesome but the food was just ok. The only complaint I have about the food is the massive amount of french Fries placed on the plate to give the illusion there was more food than what there actually was. Didnt like having to dig through a mound of French fries for a fried crawfish. I thought that was a whole mound of fried crawfish nope under it was a huge mound of French fries
John & Jan Mory
Quintessential NOLA from the atmosphere to the food. Great spot to have a drink and some awesome food. Their etouffee is my favorite.
Stephen Solen
Loved the sampler with the jambalaya, étouffée, and gumbo. Their meat pies, fried alligator, and fried green tomatoes were all good too. Was great, we had a big group (8) and they were able to accommodate us quickly walking on off the street.
Hope Cash
Being able to eat somewhere with such history was definitely a treat. It was nice to be able to read about the history of this place on the menu to give us a better idea about the historic significance of the location of the location. The food was also magnificent.
Daniel Barrett
My wife and I ate their for lunch today and the food and service were absolutely top notch
Danielle Welshiemer
The building has great vintage charm, great vibe. The staff was nice and helpful. The food was good but I would probably try a different place next time.
Steven Micklewright
Go here and have the Roast Beef Po-Boy. It is probably one of the greatest sandwiches ever created. Huge portioned, perfectly cooked roast beef covered with the most delicious dark gravy
Becky Cassity (bmc2)
This place has amazing charm and absolutely delicious food. I had the chicken Alfredo and my husband the fried chicken red beans and rice and they were so good!
Michael Millenheft III
Dug the food, dug the vibe. Yup!
Dawn Green
Food was plentiful and great tasting. Customer service was on point.
Pablo Gandara
Best service in town! Amazing history and story of the building itself. We went for breakfast on Sunday and it was packed, but our server Mary was on point! She had the best personality and made our experience truly amazing. The Mimosas, Bloody Maries, and food were great! I had the chicken and waffles and it was one of the best I’ve had. The food and service were so great that we decided to come back the next morning and we were not disappointed. Absolutely great place that I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting NOLA.
Valerie Paxton
Great breakfast service. Big omelettes packed full of goodness. Spicy bloody Mary!
Heather Hodges
The food was incredible! The gumbo & etouffe were my favorites! Loved the setting too, in an old building with exposed brick. The staff were all super nice and helpful too!
Kari Chamberlain Miller
The fried green tomato appetizer is to die for, and I don't even like tomatoes! Shrimp and grits were the best I've ever had and I grew up in SC.
David Murdock
Sadly, this is one of the hardest reviews yet. We've been going to PM's for the past 20 years both as tourists and now as residents. The quaint bustling place with some of the best service around is what we truly enjoy, and the food's not bad either. Well, we went on July 4th expecting it to be packed due to Essence but was happily surprised. Katie, our very favorite server, welcomed us as always with her smile and great conversation. We settled on the meat pies with both having the blackened reddish with differing sides. The entrees cane out and my mirliton slaw had excessive red onions and the cheesy grits were bone dry. I mentioned this to Katie and she apologized profusely and let the kitchen and the manager, Sidney(sp) know. Once the bill came we see it was full price, no biggie, so we asked if there was anything that could be done. The manager refused and was asked to the table. The reason he gave no concessions was that the sides are free, so we just paid for the fish. So, this tells me that when figuring food costs and pricing that ingredients that go into making said sides are not important. What was important to the manager was sitting across the street on his phone, sitting next to the entrance way on his phone talking to the greeter about a guy that must have gone to a black barbershop due to the the way his beard was edged....not his patrons. Finally, when he stormed off he immediately got on his phone. This behavior was shocking and not at all the expectation of a staple of the FQ dining scene. If we come.back, sadly it'll have to be when there's different management. KATIE, you're the best!!!
Ebony Walls
I felt like family as soon as I walked in. Our attendant was very soo nice and gave us so much love. The food and mimosas were great 👍 …
Melinda Buttle Cardona
Great service, great food!
I loved the redfish.
My team loved the crab cakes and the boudin
The server we had was truly patient and kind with loads of southern hospitality. Can't wait to come back and bring friends!
Libby Lee
So glad this place was opened on Christmas as many places were closed. The food was delicious and the service was great.
Juanita Nassardeen
Red beans rice and fried chicken was good.
Randy Ford
The food and drinks were great and we loved the atmosphere/history. I had the crab cakes, my work wife had the red beans with andouille and gator sausage, and we shared the fried green tomatoes (could have used more at $14 for 2 thin slices cut in half, my only complaint). We devoured it all with gusto, exceedingly pleased with the taste of our selections. Waitstaff/host were very warm and did not rush us, which was nice considering we had been walking most of the evening after sitting through meetings all day. Neat place to unwind after a whirlwind day.
Brian Arceneaux
This place was amazing. Our waitress was definitely "top tier" and the food was excellent. I would visit this place again when I'm in town!
Christopher Brown
Always great! Always enjoy a muffuletta and hurricane here, and they didn’t let me down on this trip either.
John Yard
One of the best breakfasts in NOLA. We always stop here. Nothing is bad.
Nicolette Moore
Everything was amazing, the Absolut Lemonberry Strawade drink is the best thing ever and the blackened chicken alfredo and key lime pie were delicious.
J L
Really friendly staff and all the food was so so good!!
britt dalton
This was the third stop of our first evening in New Orleans and Halley served us a perfect Moscow Mule. Liked it so much we ordered two more with Fried Green Tomatoes and Shrimp Pistoletts. A wonderful end of a perfect day!
Adeline CHAUTARD
Delicious Cajun cuisine! I had the Fried Gulf Shrimp Po Boy, and my husband had the blackened chicken Jambalaya. Very tasty!
The dining room was a bit too dark, but the service was great.
Thomas Cote
If chicken and waffles are on the menu I order them. I've enjoyed chicken and waffles in many different restaurants over the years and today was no different with one notable exception. These were by far the best chicken and waffles I've ever eaten! I will be back to enjoy them again!
gracie Trevino
Shelly was outstanding!! Great energy and extremely friendly. Recommend coming for dinner. We had the chicken and waffles and an appetizer she recommended!! By far the best place we’ve enjoyed as locals.
I'm literally Unknown
The food was divine and the building is beautiful! So full of history! We will definitely be back!
Stacie Easterwood
Had a great dinner with Tatiana as server. Food was good, service was excellent!
Brandon Scott
Speak easy vibe with black tie service and charm. I definitely recommend Sally as a waitress. The crab cakes are phenomenal and the bohemian julip is fantastic!!
Amye Grant
The food was sooooooo good! Nice service too and not a terribly long wait on Saturday evening. I had the crab cakes and my husband tried the seafood pot pie. Both were delicious.
Ricardo Matias
ur telling me a shrimp cooked these grits - food was solid 🦐 …
Jack Sparrow
It was expensive and group wasnt too thrilled with the taste of the food. I agree it wasnt too special just feel like it could've been better. Gator was tasty ! Service was great though .
Bee Mcghee
Visited this place on last day in New Orleans wish we had gone there on our first day because we would have come back, several times it was that good. We even took muffalettas to go! The breakfast was outstanding, he had a omelette that was light and fluffy loaded with seafood I had the galette and it was so tasty didn't even need the salt or pepper, which is always a good sign of a good chef. Wait staff where sweet which was good because they were jumping so it was a little slow but it was Sunday brunch time in New Orleans so we just hung out and drink our coffee and enjoyed the vibe at the place which is nice.
Cliff Gurlen
Neat building - service was ok. Food was just ok, I had the crab cakes - had some bits of shell and the sauce they used was thick and overpowering.
shane darst
Excellent place to eat. The waitress Mrs Mary had alot of energy and didn't miss a beat. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone I know. Can't to come and a second time and maybe see Mrs Mary there working again
Christopher McNeese
What a fabulous place! The atmosphere was vibrant and busy. The building is old, really old in a way that is comforting. The food was fabulous. The waitress, Mary, could be on Broadway. What a larger than life personality. We will be back, and that is saying something since we live 10 hours away!
Tara
I found the staff extremely friendly. However, we specifically ordered the vegetarian Florentine omelette but were given a shrimp omelette (we are vegetarian). The breakfast menu is limited however their version of the french toast was delicious, their eggs Benedict however was disappointing. I think this place is slightly overrated, but I would suggest trying the Tabasco Honey with the French toast if you get that.
Cara Roby
We were very excited about visiting this place. Burger was mediocre especially for the price. Chicken jambalaya was pretty good. Service was sub-par. The waitress was very dismissive until she had a table of people she knew. We wanted to order drinks and dessert after our meal but weren't even offered anything else. Very dissapointed. May try the other one next time we visit.
michael martin
Absolutely best shrimp po-boy I've ever had; and I've had a lot ify them. Tabasco mayo they use is to die for. Fries were great. Shrimp, perfect. Not greasy. But what makes this sandwich is the awesome bread used. Just terrific. Sat at the bar about an hour before closing. Bartender pours a great drink. Not skimpy at all. Will definitely be back!
Oskar Mattsson
Good eats and good atmosphere. Bottomless mimosas for breakfast is insidious genius.
Anthony D'Elia
Good service and the food was good. Shrimp Po boy was great.
Mike S
Outstanding food and service! Adding to my "must-do" list while in New Orleans.
Allison Barr
Super friendly service! Amazing food! Love the historic atmosphere!
Ashleigh Wansbrough
I live this place! Great atmosphere and fantastic Cajun. The picture is the crawfish etouffe with blackened crawfish tails on top. The pistolettes are wonderful as well, this is a must stop every time I'm in Nola!
Marc Harrison
Absolutely fantastic food, amazing setting. Staff were brilliant. Cannot recommend enough to visit. Hope the lady enjoys her travels to Europe.
blake barron
Had the Chicken and Waffles and I loved it! Mimosas were delightful. The only beef I have, it makes no sense that they purposely have empty tables. I thought we were at or near herd immunity? I understand trying to be cautious for your patrons and employees, I just think if you've gotten the vaccine, some people would be willing to show, or prove it! We have our cards. Open up yall!!! Love your restaurant!!
Sarah Worth
Great service and really great food. The French onion soup was to die for!
Sylvain Francois
Disappointed with the food, our jambalayas and shrimps&grits were insipid, only the veggie pasta were slightly interesting.
Vicki Cordova
We stop just to have an appetizer and a drink. We ended up having The French Onion Soup and it was the best.
Deborah Wisintainer
Nice dinner with family. We all cleaned our plates! I loved my crawfish ettoufee I added fried crawfish tails. Very cool historical building. Great wait staff.
Dollface
The food was delicious the service was good. We will definitely be back
Mike
Food was ok. I had chicken and waffles. I got chicken and a waffle. No garnish, no nothing. Our server was lovely tho.
Bobbie Huffine
Wow, amazing food and service. We actually loved it so much, we ate here twice during our trip to New Orleans.
Summer Dobozy
Nice atmosphere and good food. There is a ramp for the front door so a wheelchair/walker or other mobility device would be able to access the restaurant. The women’s restroom was not AT ALL accessible however. A mobility aid could not fit inside the restroom.
Tom and Kathy Henderson
Used to eat at Masperos Cafe and they had great sandwiches. First eating at the Original and our first mufalatta. It was big and enough for 2 people but it could have had more meat and olive sauce for $18, but it tasted good and the atmosphere is charming. But like the Cafe better.
Roy Cormier
This is one of the places I always visit on my NOLA trips. Even when the place is busy the staff go out of their way to serve and treat you well. And the food is top notch. Be sure to add a gumbo to whatever your order because the only wrong you can do here is not having the gumbo.
Mika J
We arrived home yesterday from our 6 day stay which was Wonderful!
Monday we had the Best lunch of our trip at The Original Pierre Maspero's
I had their fried fish and shrimp.
My wife had chicken and waffles.
Both dishes were phenomenal.
The hostess was friendly.
Mary was our waitress and she was Amazing!
She was very busy, but never let our drinks run low, always checked in on us while walking by, and had a great demeanor.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ken Wienhoff
Friendly bartender. Delicious food, very nice ambiance.
Rob P
But ok is not bad. I really enjoyed the experience, the waitress was amazing and the food was no bad at all. On a 1-10 scale for me It's a solid 7.
Barbara J
I definitely suggest you eat here, the food is unbelievable!!! The chicken alfredo was excellent. So creamy and on angel hair pasta! Chicken bacon poboy was delicious also. Fried green tomatoes came with shrimp in it, wow!
HC Lim
Really good food and excellent service. Fried alligator and gumbo was my favourite
Mark Wholley
Still a favorite that never disappoits! Great service here. It's tough to pick from this menu, so many good choices.FOr an app try the Natchitoches Meat Pies. You the chicken and waffles and Shrimp and grits are my particular favs here's.
Tex Hull
Doesn't look like a breakfast restaurant, but they open at 0900 and have a good selection of typical breakfast favorites such as Eggs Benedict, omelets, and lost bread. Service was good. Excellent Bloody Mary.
Mark Martinez
Sherryl was AMAZING!
Thank you for treating us so well, we will be back soon!
Anjelica Padilla
Today, Monday Aug 23rd, had bottomless mimosas until 4p. Our server was so nice. I recommend the fried green tomatoes with shrimp. I so got a side Caesar super delish. Oldest building in the area. Food, drinks, and history 🦋🎉😸 …
Sylvie Fischer
The restaurant was busy but our food was excellent and our waitress was awesome!
Marissa
I came here quite excited because I saw there was a sampler on the menu that included four of the traditional NOLA dishes one would expect to sample while in town. However, this was by far the worst meal I ate while in town. The jambalaya was literally just seasoned rice and related far more to a dirty rice as opposed to jambalaya. The gumbo was nearly flavorless. I will tip my hat to the red beans and rice, as well as the crawfish etoufee. Those were both pretty yummy. My husband also ordered some crab cakes, which he really enjoyed. The wait staff were super busy yet friendly. I just really couldn’t believe how terrible the gumbo and jambalaya were. However….I would give it another try and order something else next time.
Aimee Thomas
Super chill spot, stopped in for appetizers and some AC!
Madeleine
I loved the feel of this restaurant and the food was even better. I could not get enough of my shrimp and grits and the gumbo was great as well.
Bill Jones
Hands down the best food we've had anywhere! And we travel a lot!

This was my first visit to NOLA and this was our fist stop. Our host Mary was amazing. The food was beyond great. First advantage was the best!

Everything was great as for the food and drink quality. Service was relatively quick as well. The only drawback to me was that the bartender touched every possible surface imaginable while fixing drinks and touching actual fruit in mixed drinks. Sitting at the bar, I never saw him wash or wipe his hands. I was there for at least an hour. Personally, I would not have wanted a drink strawberries in it.
Other than that, everything else was awesome!!

Cool atmosphere and the food was good but not great. The grits tasted like they were ground in house, which would be crazy if that was the case. They were amazing themselves but the overall dish suffered from lack of spice, salt, and acidity. Also if you're going to put ham in the grits, maybe put a nice thick-cut slice instead of lunch meat. AND the shrimp were small frozen shrimp instead of fresh gulf shrimp. All their rice based dishes were good but they all had the same problem; the rice was an afterthought. It's obviously parboiled rice that is not tender and sticky like a delicious rice based dish is supposed to be. The mufalata was very delicious and was probably the best thing we ate. In short, this is a cool place with great servers and a fun atmosphere. The food was good but not great. Although, the food could be great if only after a few simple changes.

The fried green tomatoes were amazing!

Great restaurant in prime location. The building has history.... not all of it good. Nice people, very friendly bartenders and servers, not always the most attentive or fastest, tho. Been here a lot.
I love breakfasts. Their seafood omelet is my favorite! Start your Sunday with one..some grits and a Bloody Mary, and you're good!
Men's room was built for 1850 size people.

This was our very first stop. Food was great! Drinks were great, too! Got to sample some traditional New Orleans food. Management was great recovering from some staffing issues, like many restaurants seem to be dealing with. Would definitely go back

Amazing food! Louisiana Lost Bread and Biscuits and Gravy were fabulous. You can't beat the $15 mimosas. A definite stop on your New Orleans trip. Ms. Sandra and the rest of the staff are super friendly. Highly recommend!

Shrimp Po boy was tasty! The breading wasn't too heavy or thick. Added a little tarter and some hot sauce and it was a good lunch.

Crawfish Etouffe and Crab Cakes were really good! Definitely go for the Marie Laveau or Hurricane cocktails. Shelly was amazing and very accommodating given the short staffed dinner shift.

Make Reservations! Of course that's the Golden Rule for Bourbon St. But, breakfast was all day and yummy. I had the crab and shrimp omelette, and omg. Heaven. Bottomless mimosas, that were NOT disappointing. And the service, superb. I highly recommend!
Dannie Mallory
I ordered fried green tomatoes, and chicken & waffles. Everything was delicious and the service was great!

Overall it was okay - the muffaletta was extremely greasy - the bottom buns were so oily they weren't edible

DO NOT GET THE LOUISIANA LOST BREAD!!!!!!!
Cute place, but the lost bread was aweful. It was french bread that was soaked in oil. My stomach was turning the rest of the day after eating it. Not worth it. Should have got the chicken and waffles like my boyfriend got. It tasted good.
Bartender was very nice!

Did lunch here after our carriage tour and was super surprised! My husband loooved the dish he got I cannot recall the name but it had four small plates of different local dishes. I got the muffaleta which was really yummy.
But to be honest the most amazing part of this place was Mary our waitress I really hope this makes its way to you Mary because wow you are amazing !
This place was busy and it seemed like Mary and one other woman were just running around like crazy! Mary was great she was attentive while being extremely busy and she multi tasked like no other!

Walked over from our hotel, Charlene the hostess bubbly and sweet personality seated us right away. Our waitress Terri was absolutely amazing. She gave us wonderful recommendations for breakfast 😋. Then she gave us a history lesson about this very building and the difference on creole and Cajun foods. Then history on jazz. Lastly on tips on things to do while we're here. She's definitely an asset to your company we're so thankful we met her she was amazing.

Hostess got us seated asap despite it being a crowded Saturday. Our waitress was attentive, patient and kept our mimosas full. I had the andouille and eggs, SO had the chicken Alfredo. Both delicious. Get the grits. Mimosas were nothing spectacular but there sure were a lot of em. Loved the food, service and the historical digs.
