Reviews of N7
Beautiful location, interesting menu and extensive wine selection. Overall would definitely recommend N7. Appetizers were different but delicious. Smokey tomato soup was full of flavor and depth. Steak dinner was really really tasty but could definitely have been hotter. Felt like it was ready and sat before being served. Service was not the best, our server was pretty absent during our entire meal but the quality of the food and atmosphere outweighed that.
Scrumptious food with a lovely outdoor patio. The restaurant has an extensive French wine list though we were left wondering if there was a sommelier? Highlight of our meal was the mussels. Escargot tempura was certainly experimental, but ultimately it was lacking flavors. All in all, we had a great time.
Wonderful setting. Our server was friendly and attentive without being overly present. Everything we ordered was delicious and a perfect sized portion. Extensive wine list!
Went to meet up with a friend. Service was excellent. I love it when the wait staff is knowledgeable about the menu and knows what to suggest based on the our questions. Our questions were answered fully and our server server gave great suggestions. I had a soup that was wonderful!!!! Suggested by the server of course. I do wish I could remember her name. I would definitely give a shout out!!!!!
We were seated outdoors and they were kind enough to bring and extra heating lamp to our table.
This is a warm intimate romantic restaurant with a superb candlelit patio setting. The food is wonderful, familiar yet unique flavours combining japanese flavours with french technique. The cured salmon tartine was delightful, fresh. The onion rose was particularly flavourful, we inhaled that dish. The duck and sweet potato was perfectly cooked. We finished the meal with a creamy yielding soy creme brûlée. Highly recommend for a trip to New Orleans
This is like stepping into the French countryside. The most romantic place you'll find in all of New Orleans. If you are looking for a date night then this is the place. The food was awesome. The drinks were awesome and the service was awesome. Thanks to our server Gaia. We were blown away.
Lovely testaurant! They offer nice dishes overall, but carpaccio was a bit dissapointing. I am usually popular among bugs like mosquitos, so it was not that good idea to have a dinner outside... And a frog was jumping into my knees ^_^;;; Next time, I will take a table inside the restaurant.
Great variety of small shareable foods. Wonderful presentation. Professional attentive staff. Paul was great. Parking is challenging. Guys outside direct you to approved Parking lots.
Absolutely amazing food! Most seats are outside and even though there are heaters a bunch of us got pretty cold. Service was nice but they slightly messed up our order and were sometimes a bit slow.
Slightly tricky to find vegan dishes. Also the entrance is not the most visible, it is a wooden door with N7 written next to it. The waiter gave us a really good wine recommendation!
SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD. Amazing, truly. I was gifted this experience by a good friend for my birthday as it is her favorite restaurant. I was so incredibly unpleasantly surprised. When you first walk in it's just immediately ambience. The garden and the courtyard are to die for and it's decorated so cute with lights and I also went during December so it was giving Christmas vibes with a Christmas tree! The food, to die for. When I tell you not to skip on the bread, please listen. So many de jours!! I had the fish, sheep's head. Probably some of the best fish I've ever had. And I get fish everywhere. The avocado salad was delightful and flavorful. We also got frog legs which were very good. The trumpet mushrooms were giving me octopus vibes and I really enjoyed them. My friend had the lamb which was also incredible. Had Pavlova for the first time and it changed my life lol also tried the soy sauce creme brulee which was very good but very different and very salty lol actually everything was pretty salty but still delicious.
This is a must if you are in New Orleans. The restaurant is tucked away, the only way you know you're there is with a small sign and hear soft music playing. The mussels, bread plate, oysters, bok choy, and chicken are amazing. Sit outside if you can, so you can hear the music playing while you sip a nice cocktail. If you are in New Orleans take some time to come here, reservations are recommended.
Unique atmosphere - it feels like a restaurant in the countryside despite being in the middle of a city. The presentation is excellent and while the ingredients are pretty simple, they go together well.
The restaurant is beautiful. Mostly outdoor (both covered and open sky). Food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Good for a nice, adults-only, evening out.
Food was flavorful and they ace the classics; their spin on creme brûlée featured a soy sauce glaze that was surprisingly tasty.
Service was lovely but the atmosphere was my absolute favorite - the owner designed the place and did a fantastic job creating a sexy yet cozy space (very french) with tons of unique art and furnishings.
Perfect for date night or a casual yet elevated dinner with friends.
First time having French food in New Orleans. I’m glad we made the choice to eat here since there are so many seafood options. It’s a great place for dating, hangout or family gathering where has decent ambient yet not serious. We ordered escargot, beef tartare lettuce salad and red fish with beets, Bok choi and coconut jasmine rice in it. (Btw, the tap water tastes like toilet water, watch out!! lol) In a word, Make a reservation and see it yourself.
This restaurant is a hidden gem! Think secret garden. The food, the ambience and the staff are very top notch. I walked in and was immediately stunned with the beauty and from there food, drinks and service only exceeded my expectations. It is reservation only and 18 & up!
One of the best meals I've had in a long time. Stellar service, gorgeous gardens. Felt like I was transported to old French country.
Behind a wood paneled custom door lies a special space. Expecting to wait not having made a reservation in advance we were seated instantly. The food, drinks, service, and atmosphere leaves you pining to come back.
Fantastic food & service. A funky, quiet French restaurant with casual but elegant ambience. Nick is entertaining and classy. Go here; you will love it.
Charming, romantic French with a nod to Japanese restaurant. Voted Best in America 2016 Bon Appetite. Save room for the Crème Brûlée
My mother & I had an amazing dinner here. It’s highly recommended to book a reservation - fills up fast and it’s easy to see why! The front door blends in with a wooden fence, and a staff member is outside on the sidewalk to let you in.
There is some indoor dining, but it’s mostly outdoor. We sat outdoors in the courtyard, and loved the ambiance. Great spot for dates, special occasions, or just a great meal. A posh place without being too pretentious.
Great French restaurant in beautiful garden setting in La Nouvelle-Orleans (aka New Orleans). The duck a l'orange was delicious as were the sashimi. Great chicken liver pate. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. On a recent night I had sashimi and duck breast, both perfect. Great wine selection and nice decor too.
The best food I have ever had. I had the Duck a l'Orange and it was heavenly, thought about it for days. We were contemplating whether to go there right after the airport and it was definitely the right decision. The staff was super friendly and accommodated our late arrival to the reservation. The place is super cute and I like the mysterious ambiance. A must try in New Orleans!
Amazing restaurant and culinary experience. Top 5 favorite spot in the city!
Very nice courtyard dining. Had the Mussels and fries. Also an wasabi avocado salad to start. Both had lots of flavor . My wife went with the fish of the day Mahi Mahi Tuna and I chose the rib eye. Excellent preparation. Waitstaff was attentive, not overbearing. Overall a 9, only thing I didn't like was the chairs hard, no cushion. Never asked though, they probably would have brought me one.
This experience was absolutely amazing. It is a hidden gem so it did take us a second to find it beyond the fence. The food was absolutely delicious and full of so many flavors. Paul the manager was extremely kind and accommodating - service was fantastic. It was a great birthday dinner - I highly recommend!
Talk about an unassuming exterior. Totally drive by but when you get in the door it's like stepping through a portal to a French dream. The service was impeccable and the food matches. The offerings were all great and for the quality were an exceptional value. Would eat again
We finished off our weekend New Orleans trip with a dinner at N7. I would say the main positives for this spot are the beautiful patio setting and the extensive wine list. We ordered two small plates (salmon tartine and pork belly) and two large plates (roasted cauliflower and duck). The small plates were both delicious but we found the large plates to be somewhat underwhelming. Still, would certainly recommend this spot for couples visiting New Orleans as the restaurant is gorgeous and service was fantastic.
I came to New Orleans to celebrate my birthday and Christmas and from the moment I walked through the door I was in heaven. Excellent service and food. I'm going to be chasing the big from that creme brulee my entire life, or at least until I get the chance to visit N7 again. Definitely the best dining experience I've ever had!
What an engaging place. Charming from the front door and hostess through my whole meal. I didn't want to leave. Much fun and deliciousness are in this hidden oasis. The food is fresh and creatively prepared. My server was a blast and knew his stuff!! The bar holds its own in the world of fancy cocktails. I'll be back. More than once.
Excellent atmosphere, wonderful terrace, very nice and professional staff. The food is outstanding, we actually expected smaller portions so the amount of food was a welcome surprise. For the price, this place is absolutely worth your time. We got gin & tonics that were nice and smooth, mussels, octopus and salmon. Everything was awesome, the type of good food where you can really feel the quality of the ingredients in each bite - unlike other places where you pay the price, but don't get any better food for it. Definitely try this place.
N7 is worth experiencing for the space alone. I cannot say the food lived up to the hype, and the service was super slow and intermittent even for our group that was in no particular hurry. The wine list is impressive and we appreciated the sommelier's recommendations. It is nice to find dining in the Bywater, far from the touristy French Quarter.
Yes yes yes! This place blew us away! N7 is hidden behind a large wooden fence and entering through the inconspicuous door feels like walking straight into a countryside courtyard in southern France. The ambiance is gorgeous, the service impeccable and the food is stunning. A creative take on some classic French dishes, like Tempura Escargot (genius), Mackerel as charcuterie and good old sardines made for an amazing evening. Not to forget their huge list of interesting wines. N7 entered our top 5 of best restaurants in the world.
We had the best meal we have ever had in this lovely magical spot. The service was excellent, our server was knowledgeable and skilled buy also warm and friendly. The Duck a L'orange was amazing.
Wonderful restaurant hidden on a small residential street. Beautiful outdoor seating as well as cozy indoor area by the bar. The total experience was delightful.
French onion soup, smoked tomato soup, and wine recommendations were excellent. Ambiance is wonderful. The rest of the meal was so so, but it was a nice evening.
Very laid back French countryside ambience. Food was nicely balanced with good flavors. The can to table was definitely the favorite. The bread was perfection with a great crunchy crust and good chew interior. Went really well with the lemon butter and the mackerel pate we had. Will definitely come back for more of the canned options.
Delightful and very authentic Euro. Very nice variety of dishes. I particularly like their prep of mussels usinng sake in the broth. Service is very good.
Relaxing vibe, like a quiet French bistro off the beaten path. Exquisite cuisine: French with a Japanese twist. Gorgeous garden ambiance.
Amazing food and ambiance! The garden is lovely. Everything we ate from the duck to the pavlova was delicious.
Hands down one of the best restaurants in New Orleans. A hidden treasure off the beaten path in a neighborhood in the Bywater. It doesn’t even look like a restaurant from the outside as there is a huge privacy wooden wall that looks like someone’s house. Once inside, we had one minor stutter step as the hostess did not acknowledge us or anyone else figuring out where to go to get seated or deal with their reservation, she did walk by multiple times but did not offer help or guidance, this was the only offset during our experience, as I would rate this more than 5 stars they still get 5. They have a really beautiful outside sitting area and small outside bar all covered with large patio heaters making dining outside year round an option. We sat right inside and decided to splurge on this meal. After ordering our amazing wine we decided to sample much of the menu and specials they had available that night. Though the portions are small, they are simply done perfectly and very innovative in some of their creations. Some of our highlights that are MUST HAVES would be the Wagyu Beef Tataki, the Pork Katsu, the French Onion Soup, and our favorite the Sake Cured Salmon Tartine!
This was the coolest experience. It was our 10 year wedding anniversary and nothing could have topped this place. Best food I think I've ever eaten, excellent service and a great atmosphere. This is a place you must try.
Everything was soooo good! Best Mahi I’ve ever had. Perfection!
This restaurant has and atmosphere and service that is outstanding, in a town where it is hard to find a meal that is not great!
Located in Bywater on a side street, the only signage is the N7 sign on a fence. There is plenty of on street parking, but we took an Uber. Once inside, the ambience of the outdoor seating is compelling and intimate. it was chilly the night we went, so the staff had space heaters to take out the chill.
The wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and knew the menu - which was not a traditional menu; the chef puts out a uniquely prepared selection of high quality. N7 is also a bakery - the breads were fresh and superb.
The wine list was good, and they have a full bar and seating inside as well.
Appetizers were served family style, so everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed some of every small plate! We also shared desserts, most unique was the Soy Sauce Creme Brulee' - Tasty and delicious!
Most surprising was that they did not serve coffee or tea (since the electric teapot broke). We did not care about that, the meal more than made up for it!
We ate everything we ordered, and considered licking the plates.
This is an enjoyable restaurant with exceptional food and wait staff. If you want to try something different, I strongly recommend N7.
I so wanted to like this place and I definitely did. I had just returned from a trip to Japan so I was looking forward to eating here.
Friday night 845—jam packed. Reservations a must.
Younger hip crowd and easy to get an Uber/Lyft. The neighborhood is a tad sketchy so if u are a tourist please use caution and don’t venture to far from restaurant (do not let anyone tell u differently)
Great sake menu. Top notch and good prices. Wine list was also solid.
Appetizers were solid—-escargot and salads were great.
Main course was good—-but a tad on the small size.
The grilled corn with some type of miso butter gets an A+
I had some sort of Alsatian flatbread and it was great. I had previously eaten it at an Alsatian restaurant in Castroville, Texas—-this place was better.
The desert of Pavlova was interesting. I had just eaten pavlova a few days earlier at Zasu and I guess it’s making a huge comeback.
I had ordered French Fries but I never received them. We ate inside and it was in the room behind the bar.
I was surprised that they was no real sushi on the menu....but I am sure there is a reason for that. I also asked a few people at the restaurant where in Japan the chef was from and no one knew.
Would I return....yes

Really cool laid back vibe, off the beaten path. Service was great as was the food. Mostly small plates, but they offered a few entrees as well. Pricing was good when comparing to other fine dining. Wine list was amazing...I'd go back just to try their selection.
so highly recommend this lovely spot! they save some tables for walk ins so we were able to sit on NYE when our reservation fell through and we were so glad it did! this was my favorite place we went during our stay in New Orleans. the food was excellent with a fun, adventurous menu and the covered patio atmosphere was just magical. if you have the chance, go!!
This gorgeous hideaway transports you to the French countryside. The food and drink are wonderful, as is the pace of the meal. Visit for a relaxing, luxurious meal
Excellent food, superb service, absolutely wonderful atmosphere. Now one of my favorite places in NOLA
If you only go to one nice restaurant while visiting NOLA, go to N7. It was unlike anything else. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was beyond compare. It was really quite something. It's not something I will ever forget. We had no idea what we were walking into and we were absolutely blown away!
If you can find this place, you’ll never want to leave. Made a reservation one month in advance via email. No phone number listed. Once our Lyft driver found the place (we had to circle the block), we were transported to some place magical: a backyard in the French countryside? A garlic butter-scented heaven? Modern takes on French food served tapas-style by the friendliest of people, who know their wines. Order the mussels (oh, the mussels!) and the tempura escargot. The bok choy with bleu cheese and applesauce (yes, really) was incredible. The ceviche is skippable. And still, this is my new favorite restaurant anywhere.
Lovely little French bistro! The service and food were both excellent. My only complaint is that the tables are too small to share plates comfortably, especially as sharing is what they recommend.
I loved this place! It’s really tucked away and has a beautiful garden with lots of seating! There are a few tables inside too though it was a bit warm in there too. The food is delicious and the service is friendly!
Charming restaurant, lots of outdoor seating but also indoor seating available. Beautifully done, like a mini trip to France
Dinning was an experience. Very French, very delicious. Our server, Paul, is impeccable!
HEAVENLY! Amazing hidden gem behind the wooden wall. Not enough stars. Food fresh, creative, flavorful, staff fun, friendly, great recommendations. Not to be missed. We'll be back again and again.
Certain food items were simply ok like the tartines and the sashimi. The duck was amazing tho. Fries are also good and pair well with the mussels. Certain outdoor areas do not have fans, it's too hot and humidity to have that. The outdoor area is also full of mosquitoes and flies. If I were to go back I d definitely go inside during summer months. Service was acceptable.
very pretty space most of the time u need a reservation there are some vegan options just have to ask them to vegan it up (id skip the cauliflower since it was a little plain but everything else was tasty) great wine outdoor and indoor space cute cute cute friendly staff can get busy a bit pricey
One of the best restaurants we ate at in New Orleans. Make a reservation ahead of time as it fills up quick. We stuck primarily to the non-canned options as they were better but I’d still recommend trying one. Some of the dishes are definitely overpriced but the food is delicious and the space is gorgeous.
Great food, huge wine selection and a lovely atmosphere. Good to visit with friends, for a date or with family. Highly recommend!
Inviting vibe. Amazing food. Feels like walking into a different dimension that you want to be in. Bouillabaisse was the highlight. ( not pictured bc it was KO’d quick)
Magical place. Spent two hours drinking fantastic wine and snacking on delicious foods. Bill was under $100 for a bottle of wine and 3 dishes and we were very full.
This place is for the true food lover, the misfits, the off-beat, the dreamers. If that is not you - don't go here. It is an experience to be enjoyed, not a fast-casual place to eat and run. Having been here, the majority of poor reviews I've read, in my opinion, are of people who simply don't get it. Go in with plenty of time on your hands. Have a drink, stay a while. Maybe do like I did and enjoy the Buttery wild mushroom tartine with a dirty vodka martini. Steamed sake mussels with Macabeo Cava. Creme brulee with chilled Beaujolais. Open your heart and you won't regret it.
Best freaking crème brûlée and aperol spritz of my life. Escargot was decent 🍸 …
Very unassuming from the exterior. A wine lovers playground. Entrance and overall space will make any guest feel exclusive. European art/decor. Pleasant and prompt service. Booming flavours.
Darling patio, great selections. Loved the cheese plate and expansive drink selection.
Great service and awesome location! The food is very good - the last time we had mussels/moules frites before tonight was in France and these took us back. We tend to like a little bite to our food (like bright acidity or a hint of heat) that wasn't necessarily there but the flavors were excellent and reminiscent of the regions they were pulling from. If you like southern French food, you'll really enjoy this. Overall, we had a great experience and I would recommend it.
The food was excellent but I'll be back for the beautiful garden. Really, the most lovely setting you could ask for!
Food and service were generally great, in a lovely setting. Just a bit dark (hard to see the food) and chilly despite the attempts to keep the patio heated and lit on a cold evening. One glass of wine had turned and was not removed from the bill as promised. Overall though, this is an experience not to be missed!
Cute factor 10. The French food with an Japanese twist is elegant and good.
All I can really say is the outside seating has an atmosphere like no other. This place is very hidden but was so cool to eat at.. food good .. I had mussels that came as a very large portion but you do need to buy bread and this is a 1st but definitely check this one out around sun set and enjoy 😉 …
Great bijoux. Lovely atmosphere. Try the avocado and cauliflower. Very talented kitchen and professional service.
We had a lovely garden seats. Wine list was great. Service was very nice.
It was a great experience. The service was great and the barbecue shrimp was exquisite. Their outdoor seating creates a relaxed ambiance
One of my favorite places in nola. It's hard to find but worth the search. The food is delicious and the service is amazing.
This was the best restaurant that we’ve tried during our two weeks here in New Orleans. Original menu, fairly priced and delicious!!! Great atmosphere and amazing service. Our waiter was both helpful and funny and had an excellent knowledge of the city’s music scene at the same time! Highly recommend!!!
Yes, it's as good as advertised! The ingredients were excellent and prepared with a delicate touch. The chicken dish in a light soy based sauce was a delight, and my mussel dish transported me directly to France! We look forward to our next meal at N7. Bon appetit!
Good ambiance and food. Service was mediocre.
We initially had a table outside but there were SO MANY FLIES, we literally couldn't eat our food so we asked to be moved inside. There were flies inside but nowhere near as bad. They really need some insect deterrents in this restaurant.
Stunning experience. So beautiful and charming....and delicious. Such a lovely french influence hidden in a residential neighborhood
Stepped out of the Uber, looked around and didn't know where to go... Then we found the door hidden in the fence. Walked into a beautiful space and was greeted by friendly staff. Service was delightful and the food was beyond my expectations. I will definitely be back.
N7 was the location chosen for a family event, with eighteen present. The prix fixe menu was varied, interesting, and delicious. The wines we selected (a cava for a toast, and a muscadet and corbiere to follow) were wonderful accompaniments to the meal. A special shout out to our waiter Nick and the other waitstaff, as well as to Gina for her help in planning this very happy event.
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner last month. We sat in the outdoor garden which was so cute and charming. It was an abnormally chilly evening so they offered us blankets. The service was great - giving us lots of recommendations along the way. We had the mussels and frites, duck charcuterie plate, as well as the short rib. Excellent quality food and very affordable. A great place to do dinner in NOLA!
Some dishes were more impressive than others. Ex: The purple onion small plate, is really just slightly cooked onion with some tampenade. Cocktails were not particularly impressive. The soy sauce créme brulee was magnificent. The ambiance is delightful. Our server disappeared for long stretches of time and we could not get refills on drinks, though she was a really lovely person. We had a nice time but I wouldn't rush to go back.
Gorgeous backyard patio, super hidden from the street. Escargot tempura was strange and a bit disappointing. The duck liver pate was delicious! We ordered the Duck l'orange as well, which seemed way too chewy and undercooked. The homemade ice cream was definitely the best part of the dinner! Still worth it, if only for the romantic ambiance.
Really cool place that’s hidden away. Interesting menu. Delicious food! Definitely worth checking out
Really cool atmosphere outside. Beautiful setting and a great wine list.
10/10 every time. Favorite spot in New Orleans hands down. A GEM!! 🔥🙌🏽😍 …
Very pretty, mediocre food and bad cocktails. Bummer!
N7 is a live version of my 6ftx9ft painting I brought back from France last month after living there for 5 years! Sent
Great sardines, butter, and ceviche! Their homemade bread was fantastic too.
You could easily pass by this place as the outside looks like a fenced residential yard. The only noticeable detail is the "N7" on the wooden door that mimics the fence. The door is weighted with a rock attached to rope and a pulley system to close the door after you've entered. I thought this was a unique detail and I enjoyed the thought put into the design. Upon entering g there is a large outdoor patio with tables, benches and chairs to allow patrons to enjoy dinner and drinks outside on a beautiful evening. The night we went it was a little chilly, but the patio was well equipped with propane heaters. The indoor portion of the restaurant is rather small, but very cozy and inviting. The food is excellent even though I had my doubts when I was told they serve a lot of potted meat/fish. I wasn't aware French people were that into canned food, but it was of extraordinary quality and delicious! The waiter we had was extremely descriptive of the menu and super friendly. This place has a very cool vibe and is the perfect mix of classy and casual.
We will definitely be going back!
A bit pretentious but beautiful patio and garden. The waiter was interested only in upselling. No charm. Good food, nothing exceptional.
This is probably the best tapas restaurant in New Orleans. Great food, great service, and great drink options.
The food was really good and fresh and very elegant environment
What a lovely atmosphere. It was raining cats and dogs, yet we sat on the patio enjoying the balmy 70° weather and sound of rain on the roof while having a lovely conversation with friends. The food is absolutely delicious. The avacado salad and grilled bok choy are a must. Will be back.
This hidden spot served up quite possibly the tastiest meal I have ever eaten. We lucked out getting a table even without a reservation, found the entrance through the fence, then shared a bottle of wine and several small plates. I can't decide whether the garlic bread soup, sake salmon tartine, or roasted cauliflower was my favorite. If I could give N7 6 stars, I would.
Great ambiance, friendly happy staff; above all, wonderful food. Mmmmmm.
Hidden gem, French setting great food and drinks. it's a must visit
I am often asked for New Orleans restaurant recommendations because I visit family here quite often. This place is always on my list. Really charming outdoor setting in the historic Bywater district. Service is not rushed. Locals love this place for a reason. On a warm night, sitting on the terrace, sipping a glass of Rose while waiting for the steamed mussels to arrive...it's just magical. Interesting well curated wine list.
Good food, amazing atmosphere. Had a lovely evening!
Wonderfully hidden courtyard deep in the city, friendly waitstaff, good service. Unfortunately I found the food underwhelming. The flavor profiles fell flat. The food was well cooked but the recipes were uninspiring. Virtually everything I tried from the pomm fries to the French onion soup was inferior to other more commonly available sources. Food tasted less than the sum of its parts. Salmon tartine had a slight goat cheese taste but the salmon was flavorless. Honestly I think this place would fare better with an entirely different menu and chef that focuses on flavor more than presentation.
Really a 4.5 rating (if they existed) Lovely setting (if you are sitting outside this makes a difference!), extensive wine list. Service will vary, our server was professional, but could not answer some questions. Food is good to great. Small plates, $40 bottle wine $70 in food for app + entree, w/tip you are in $135 range. On our budget a special occasion, sure would return more often if could!
What a dream of a restaurant - a secret garden with no signage out front except for a tiny N7. The food was divine and very shareable. Service was very slow but they were packed. It's a pity there aren't more restaurants like this. The
ambiance was perfect.
This place has become one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The duck liver pate and cool vibe is what keeps me coming back. I’ve tried about 10 different dishes and they have all been excellent. This place is must and I recommend it to all my friends.
N7 is a lovely little restaurant hidden behind a high fence. The patio feels warm and comfortable. The waitress was great. We shared 5 plates and, though all were creative, none really stood out. Maybe we didnt get the right thing. We'll definitely try again though!
My brother and I share the same wedding anniversary and my husband and him took us here. We ordered the filet mignon, smoked salmon, the soup and a bottle of wine. I cant say what was better because everything was fantastic. Server gave us some awesome suggestions for the wine , made rounds without interrupting conversation. Super friendly and professional service. Host was amazing as well. They all followed protocol to minimize contact and ensure our safety during this covid situation.
N7 is one of my favorite spots in NOLA. Everything on the menu is carefully thought out, executed and delicious. The house-made charcuterie are amazing, vegetables are all stars and selection of meats allow you to put together a different meal each time you visit. The atmosphere is friendly and they did a great job of service even through the COVID protocols.
The definition of a hidden gem! Not just because it's hidden, but once you open the gate it is almost startling how appealing it is, ambiance, service and food are all 5 stars from me.
Food was unique and enjoyable. Loved the setting and theming. Our waiter was less than stellar. He mumbled when he talked and didn't speak up at all when I mentioned that I couldn't hear him over the train whistle nearby. When asking him about the food options I was unfamiliar with he responded pretty arrogantly. Sorry I don't know this stuff, dude. I'm here to have a new culinary experience. Get over yourself. We went elsewhere for dessert. Pricing seems a bit steep, but the presentation is excellent.
An exemplary meal from top to bottom. Menu, food, service, setting (we were outdoors in the rose garden) - in every way this was just a splendid experience!
Cool atmosphere with delicious food, but be aware, the portion sizes are less then tapas sized ( very tiny) and pretty expensive for what you get. Amazing wine selections however and very friendly staff, but they don't check in much and took a long time to get to us
This place is just the loveliest - great wine, aperitif options, delicious food, wonderful ambience, kind staff. The lillet aperitif I had was amazing, but the most memorable item on the menu was the duck liver pâté which came with house-churned saffron butter and basically changed my life. Don’t miss it!
Everything was delicious. Can't complain about the taste of the food. However I would like to complain that the avocado salad portion size was very small for the price. The service was extremely slow. We heard multiple tables complain about the speed of the service. In fact there were two tables that had ordered entrées and they took so long from when their appetizers came that they said they were no longer hungry. They got them packed up to go.
The restaurant is beautiful. It feels like an oasis in a sort of rundown, still transitional neighborhood. We arrived right when the opened and our meal was great from beginning to end. Everything is served tapas style. My husband and I split three dishes and a bottle of wine and got out for about $100. Pretty good for such a remarkable place. We had some canned seafood, squid in ink. It was interesting. They served it some bread, a smear of butter, and a chili sauce on the side. We had the house-cured salmon with goat cheese. A bit on the sweet side, but very delicious. The best dish by far was the pork katsu. I don't think I've had such a perfectly balanced dish in a very long time. We will go back just for that. It inspired us to come up with similar variations to make at home. All in all, a great leisurely meal at the bar.
Two of us showed up on a Friday around 6pm without a reservation and were seated right away outside. After ordering we asked to be moved indoors since the temperature was dropping, and the staff quickly and graciously moved us to a table inside. We are both pescetarians, and found that we had many delicious options to choose from. The food was amazing-- my favorites were the avocado salad with wasabi dressing, and the scallops entree. I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates high quality food, especially if you share many plates with the table so you can try everything.
Great food, amazing ambiance, embarrassingly bad service. Front of house needs new management, training, better pay, idk something because it's way out of whack compared to the rest of the restaurant. We couldn't spend more money if we wanted to both times I've been.
One of my favorite restaurant in new orleans, great ambiance and fantastic food
Great food and ambience, quiet place and good for intimate dinners or small groups.
Such a beautiful dining experience. The wine menu, food, and decorations are all perfectly curated to transport you to France for the evening. Everything was delicious! I highly recommend the escargot and our server Ashley!
Really good food; walking through the nondescript entrance transports you to a place you were not expecting to exist in New Orleans. I love restaurants where everyone orders something that they share with the table. It was an experience as well as a meal, both of which were exceptional.
Love this place. The environment and setting is amazing. The food was tasty and wine selection is great. The servers we very knowledgeable about everything and answered all of our questions sufficiently. Would definitely go back!
The space is incredible. Truly beautiful and a worthy replacement for Yuki Izakaya though I miss that place forever. The food was wonderful and appropriately portioned for normal human consumption. The only downside was the hostess. She walked up to us with no smile or greeting and simply said "reservations?" We were unaware of the need for reservations but no worries because there are two bars with empty seats we could see from the check in area. But, the hostess just looked at us blankly and didn't offer anything. Not a "So sorry but we're unable to accommodate you this evening" or a "We don't have a table available but the bar is open seating." Just nothing but a sense that she would rather we went away after telling us unasked that the reservation aspect had been in play since Mardi Gras. I had to ask about seating at the bar and wasn't offered a choice between outside or in. In reality, just wasn't offered any explanation for what to expect or how to proceed by the person whose whole job that actually is to do. It was so off putting that we considered leaving but our experience was saved by the perfect timing of the excellent bartender who took great care of us. Not usually one to single folk out but I gotta deduct a star for what could/should have been a wonderful evening except for that. With 15+ years in service I feel like if you push my incredibly empathetic buttons you might have a real issue. Only one chance to make a first impression and that person is the first and last for everyone. Retraining? Bad night? Either way, a flaw in an otherwise perfect experience.
Difficult to find French restaurant and bar. Lots of outdoor seating, while inside is more limited. Eclectic menu with opportunity to order small plates and share or entrees. Four-star rating as it is expensive for what you get, but ambiance is pleasant.
A wonderful dinner! Magical setting. I am taking off one star because it was very hard to find -- blank fencing all along the street, no indication of where to go in apart from very very faint stencil mark -- which would not be a problem I guess but when we finally stumbled in, kind of stressed out and wet with rain, there was no acknowledgment that they had made things difficult. In fact the opposite, sort of snooty vibe like we were clearly marked as non-insiders because we had not know location of invisible gate. All this passed quickly though, as the food was sublime!
Beautiful garden, amazing food, highly recommend!
Great outdoor seating covered patio which helped when it suddenly started pouring. Hip Treme location with secure parking across the street. Enjoyable meal.
The food was delicious, the service could have been better & I'm just still really confused about why they force masks and check vaccine cards when you're sitting outside the whole time.
Fantastic find! Wonderful contemporary French cuisine in an eclectic setting with great staff and a simple yet excellent wine selection. And if you like port, indulge yourself- I did!
Amazing atmosphere. Delicious sharable plates. Deep wine list filled with treasures and bargains. A true taste of Europe, a welcome break from Cashion and Creole that blankets the city.
The best meal I had in New Orleans, and some of the best food I have ever had. If the avocado salad is on special, be sure to get it -- creamy chunks of avocado with a wasabi dressing and micro greens. Other standouts included the eggplant and the escargot. Not to be missed!
fabulous food and atmosphere — but the bathrooms are a disaster. spider webs are the least of it. i feel like you can tell how much a business likes their consumers based on their restrooms. i guess this place likes you as much as a sopping wet paper towel roll everyone else has had to grab with wet hands, loose on an useless chair. tiny trash bin so everyone throws used paper towels on the floor. toilet seats that don’t fit and shift so you’re sitting on the bowl. female nightmare. national parks have nicer bathrooms. would have given this place five stars except the glaringly insane bathrooms made me question everything including the sanitation in the kitchen
Love it! Great atmosphere and lovely patio. Weather was comfortably nice tonight. May not be so great in the heat of summer though. The Steak au Poivre was delish and surprisingly loved the canned food as well. Try it!
Beautiful, old-school, garden, outside seating that gives off magical feelings. A competent staff both in and out of the kitchen. Always a lovely and memorable experience
Great hidden French place with lots of outside seating. The wine list is creative and not small. The food is very interesting, especially the canned items, but also very tasty.
Fantastic! I can't really do it justice with words. Every thing we ordered was great! I almost forgot, "I'm Commander Shepard, and this was my favorite French Restaurant on the Citadel".
Great night with my mom who was willing to venture @ 95 years young and my daughter 13, sister and hubby. The sardines were great ! The avocado radish wasabi salad perfect as was their Soft shell crab. I know we will be going back !
Beyond words. It was simply one of the best meals I ate in New Orleans, and that is saying a lot. Order many things, have a cocktail, stay for desert and if you eat outside bring an extra layer (not in the summer obviously).
The food was amazingly delicious, the hidden place very well decorated. The only minus is the wine menu by the glass that was very small and 2 out of 6 wines weren’t available... other than that I highly recommend a visit to this place !
If you can find the door, you'll step through the threshold and be teleported into a completely fantastical experience. imagining this location as the old tire shop that it once was is nearly impossible except for the rusting pujo sitting as a conversation piece off from the main dining house. An intimate French Countryside experience that can only be understood if you go. An exceptional restaurant concept worth your time.
Lovely atmosphere! Highly recommended the baby octopus charcuterie, escargot tempura, steamed muscles and steak poivre
The food was absolutely delicious! Nice cozy setting, inside and out. Fabulous service and good music too. Who could ask for anything more?
Canned food was really neat. Menu not online but easy to get through when you arrive. Service was good except it felt like they forgot one item because it came much later than rest. Food was delicious either way.
Secret Garden in the hood! Very warm, sprawling outdoor courtyard and French style interior architecture with fast waitresses hustling wine, cheese, canned meats and fish. Good for groups, worth a stop if bacchanal is slammed.
Love the ambiance, staff is on point. Menu is an exhilarating experience, waiter explains everything. Our visit was so easy and complimented with a bottle of riesling.
WOW! What a hidden gem.
I'm a total tourist when it comes to Nola. We visited here on the advice of a more experienced friend. No real complaints. It's small plates to share and what we had was quite good: Napa cabbage with Rockefeller sauce; Coq au vin; scallops. I tried out the "can to table" menu which one should take as literally as possible. All topped with a nice rose. If you like to do non-normal Nola food things, then this might fit the bill.
So so so delicious. The steak was literally melting in my mouh and the dish with duck was also in another level. I had waited for little bite longer time than others, but it was worthy.
Really cute place, great ambiance. A little slow for seating and service but with a nice glass of wine it didn't really matter. The food was pretty spectacular.
The price was pretty good and I liked the wine selection. Did not care for the food tho
Delish! Went to meet up with internet frenz. Wouldn’t know that the place existed if it weren’t for the doorman. Food was awesome. Wine was great. Safe outdoor spacing during Covid.
French influence in decor and menu. Off the beaten track literally and figuratively. If you are desiring ANY type of New Orleans flavor, (especially in seafood) this is NOT the place.
Wait staff pleasant.
First night in NOLA and this restaurant did not disappoint. The ambiance was just lovely and the food was delicious.
On aesthetics alone, N7 knocks it out of the park. The outdoor seating surrounded by a lush garden provides a great date-night setting.
The food is excellent as well, which is a plus.
“Loved the canned options.
Ten out of ten out of tin.”

Great atmosphere, service, and food. Beautiful date spot. Does require a mask to walk in and get to table right now.
Service leaves a bit to be desired, but you'll forget about it with the incredible ambiance and food.
Note that even though you can book inside or outside via Resy, the restaurant doesn't get this information, so be sure to ask when you arrive and state your preference.
Lovely courtyard. Casual and sophisticated at the same time. Much quieter area than the French Quarter. Great food for sharing. I'll return next time in town.
Very beautiful place, waitress was very kind and food is excellent. Count at least 2 dishes per person. I strongly recommend ++
Wonderful secret garden vibe. Very intimate setting. Fantastic wine selection.
This place is great. Beautiful place to grab brunch. Good drinks and coffee.
You have to look hard to find the door in the fence. Once inside they offer tasty food and drink in a nice garden setting. Friendly service.
Romantic date spot. Reasonable prices on alcohol. Great service, great food, great ambiance. A must on your New Orleans restaurant list!
Amazing atmosphere. Every dish was deliciousness. We sat outside with heaters. Wonderful!
my favorite restaurant in town. Romantic and great place for date night. Outdoor seating. Japanese-french fusion. Best duck in town.
Extraordinary! Incredible food, wine selection and service. Definitely one of my best dinners in New Orleans.
Just went there for the first time for a drink very cool spot. Great wine list, food looked great. Going back to eat soon.
Beautiful, atmosphere and menu!
A hidden gem. It took me a few minutes to find it behind a discreet fence. Delicious, mushroom kale soup, duck l'orange, sardines and bok choy. Felt like a fun getaway in the courtyard on a pretty night.
The menu is a little expensive but well worth it. Pretty impressive wine selection as well. The decor and atmosphere are perfect!
The ambiance at this place is amazing if quirky. Food was also stellar.
Lovely hidden gem in an industrial area. Great food & service!
What an amazing restaurant. N7 transports you to a whole different time and place. So incredible.
This is a gem! Once you enter it will feel as if transported to another place. Food and service and excellent.
Beautiful and delicious. A little secret in a little garden. Get your French fix.
Amazing experience. Best dinner yet on this trip. Can't wait to go back.

The menu changes daily so you know that you are getting fresh food!!!
Will be back!!
Amazing! The food is incredible and the setting is unique
Staff were lovely, food was wonderful, wine list was very well chosen, and the venue is charming. Would highly recommend.
Amazing little hidden spot with great exotic imported canned seafood treats and great wines. Try the scallop rillettes -- a real revelation!
Absolutely would go again. Soy sauce creme brulee was the perfect blend of sweet crunchy and gentle umami. 10/10, would go again.
Equal parts classic and experimental. Some of the strangest concepts i've ever had, but also some of the finest cooking i've had in new orleans. But perhaps can-to-table ism't so bizarre to people in some parts of the world?
Absolutely fabulous. What a great spot with excellent food, service and cocktails. Happy to know it is only blocks away.
Amazing dining experience. The food and service was outstanding. Highly recommend
Amazing food. Good service. Extensive wine list. French themed. Highly recommend.
Absolutely perfect in every way!
Highlight of our trip to New Orleans. Amazing. We talked about this restaurant for weeks afterwards. They did everything right. Perfect.
Amazing! Tucked away , this place is a hidden gem!
This place have it all great for family , romance place for couples , friends getting together, food and drinks are great to it hidden garden thank you N7

Inventive food but did not knock my socks off. Somehow expected more. Still, funky and good.
This was a delightful treat of a dinner! Enjoyed unexpected delicacies including can to table offerings. Weird and chill.
Fun fusion and a really pleasant vibe! Favorite dishes were the mushroom tarte and the scallops
2 words.. Simply amazing!!! There's a bunch of construction going on around this place, but that doesn't stop them from being a diamond in the rough!!!
Wow!! Just wow! You have to go.
Really great atmosphere great good
Such a great atmosphere! The food is really good too and the service is friendly and attentive.
A charming hidden gem with an extensive drink menu.
With a consistent, but ever changing menu and the charm of a cottage in Provence, N7 is a rare find in New Orleans.
Yes! Just yes! We were visiting from Austin and loved the vibe, the service and the food. Great spot!
Great atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food! What more could you ask for!

Must dine restaurant when in NOLA. Amazing food, fabulous staff.
Good food, and decent atmosphere, but the quality doesn't justify prices.
We sat outside, it was hot but comfortable atmosphere was awesome, food was great, I’m dying to go back!

A pinch of Japanese, a spoonful of French and a whole lot of New Orleans - et voilà, that's probably the best recommendation in town!
This restaurant offers great food, along with excellent service and the longest wine list I've seen in the United States. Mussels, steak, Moroccan chicken, duck à orange, fresh fish and desserts that make you want to keep coming back because they were so good - they're all of excellent quality here. You eat in an atmosphere somewhere between speakeasy, hole in the wall and "interview with a vampire."
Just try it. Warning: it's not that easy to find, and that's what gives it its exclusive charm.
