Reviews of Mr. Ed's Seafood & Oyster House, St Charles

Food was really good! I had the fish and chicken. I did think the jambalaya was dry though...that was the only knock on the food. My wife had the Taste of New Orleans (?), my son had the jambalaya plate...the serving size was massive, so you won't go home hungry!
However, our waitress (didn't get her name) was disengaged, slow, forgetful and didn't get our order of bread pudding at all. Very frustrating.
We did notice a another, shorter waitress (didn't get her name either) that seemed to be doing everything all by herself...wish we would've had her!
Overall, with better service we would have had a better experience and a better rating. As it was I'd give them 3 stars for our experience.

A must must must visit for all oyster lovers!! We ordered the chargrilled oysters and THEY WERE FABULOUS. Big fat succulent oysters and oh so fresh! The grilled shrimp was lovely as well. The pricing is very reasonable for the excellent quality food. And the service was equally great. All staff , right from being seated to being served, was very friendly and very attentive. Our server Desseria was so sweet and helpful. We had previously had oysters at Coterie Oyster Bar in French quarter and the oysters we were served were so tiny and overpriced. The server we had was so horrible to us. But Ed’s is just amazing. Please choose Ed’s over any other place. You won’t regret it!!

Ok, first timers here. We loved it. Super clean, super friendly. Victoria was our server, outstanding.
As for the food. 2 of the doz. Oysters, were overcooked. How ever, the rest were huge oysters, they were perfect. Suggestions...use same size oysters. Red beans and rice ... tasty, great. 1/2and1/2. Was fantastic. And the Calamary and Marinara was Very. VERY TASTY. JUST FANTASTIC!!!!! All in All we were very happy and we will be back.

Amazing food and atmosphere. The staff was extremely friendly and seated us as fast as they could. The catfish and chicken was a huge hit. The etouffette and jumbalaya was good but not as good. I would highly recommend a plate that has some of everything!

We (party of 4) came in on a Monday night, two hours before close and it was packed. We had a 30 minute wait, so we grabbed a couple of drinks and sat at the bar. My grandmother liked her hurricane and I enjoyed the spicy bloody mary (which came with pickled green beans that I am now obsessed with). When were seated a very energetic young man, Matt, waited on us. We was hilarious, super social, and had good suggestions/feedback on our orders. The food came pretty timely and the portions were huge - the po boys are like two sandwiches! I ordered the tase of New Orleans - the red beans and rice and the ettoufle are superb. The jambalaya was ok, not bad, not amazing. I had mentioned to Matt how much I loved the green beans and the bloody mary, so he brought one chock full of green beans (YUM!). We didn't have room for dessert, but I can't wait to come back to NO and eat here again. Thanks to Matt for making this a fun night and to Mr. Eds for the delicious meals!

Came in 20 minutes before closing (bad form) on our way back to our hotel next door. They seated us cheerfully. The waiter did not try to rush us because of the time. He is was patient while I waffled on wine choices. Beautiful, serene and yet very New Orleans atmosphere. Oysters were spectacular. Red Beans we fantastic. Thanks for feeding weary, late night travelers with bad timing!!!

The food is great! Service is above the bar.
The portion is generous for the House Salad. The 1/2 🦐 1/2 🐠 is delicious. The raw oysters are superb. The beer, what do you say, is just great. My dad and I had a good time together.

Not sure the raw oysters were properly washed. Healthy amount of cream or butter to mask the oyster for the Brenville and Charboiled. Charbroil oysters were so over cooked, the whole shell was dried up. I’m a bit puzzled how that was acceptable to come out of the kitchen. The staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient location on magazine street. Not a bad option if you are there to get fried seafood or fried chicken.

Charboiled oysters! This bucket list food item was a must try for our trip to New Orleans. Safe to say Mr. Ed’s did not disappoint us with their oysters. Both raw and this.
We tried alligator bites to see what’s it about, to say for myself: Not a fan. The smell is shrimp, but the texture is too mushy and tasted like fish. Our server told us it was 60% alligator and 40% pork.
Service was welcoming, host sat us by the fireplace cause we looked cold haha. Server was very nice and we were happy he was assigned to our table.
