Reviews of Mr. B's Bistro
Dario Marchena
The food is definitely 5 star and the only reason I gave it 4 was because of the service. About the appetizer and entrees what can say other than it was beyond our expectations with a unique and rich flavor with just the right portion. A true dining delight. Service was not as attentive as you would expect. Server over on the other table offered the specials of the day and an explanation of the menu items. That was not our experience and did not know that there were other items available. Our server appeared to be in a rush and was and seemed to be annoyed with another coworker who was assisting. Sorry, service is also an important part of a dinning experience. Other wise, I would have rated this establishment 5 stars.

We ordered the crispy fried oysters, bacon wrapped shrimp & grits, and the barbecue shrimp for a party of 4 adults. The food was absolutely amazing but the barbecue shrimp really stood out to us. While the meal is a little messy because you have to peel the shrimp yourselves, it was well worth the effort. The sauce in the barbecue shrimp is so buttery and rich - great for dipping bread into. The shrimp and grits were also delicious. The portion sizes are large so come hungry and ready to stuff yourself!
We also ordered a martini and the Pimm's Cup for drinks. The cocktails were beautifully made and delicious but on the stronger side so beware.
The service here was absolutely top notch. Our two servers were very attentive and friendly and gave us tips about staying safe in New Orleans and where else we could find good food and drinks. Definitely one of the fancier establishments we've been to in New Orleans.

Fine dining on Royal street in New Orleans! My friend and I heard from multiple people we had to go for the BBQ Shrimp and boy am I glad we did! This was an AMAZING entree! The sauce was so tasty, and the shrimp so fresh. We started the meal with the rosemary Parmesan truffle fries (finger licking good!), a bowl of gumbo, and the small Wedge salad. The gumbo was just ok in my opinion. The truffle fries and wedge salad were excellent- especially the dressing on the wedge. It is on the small side but a good starter to wet the appetite. I would go back here just for the BBQ shrimp- I wish I hadn’t eaten so many truffle fries! Service was very professional and upscale. A definite must to visit for New Orleans cuisine!
(Oh and I would recommend dressing up for this place- I didn’t feel appropriate in sandals, shorts and a tank top even though it was 90 degrees out.😳)

Service was amazing, we asked for half portions for each dish. We ordered the crab cakes, bbq shrimp and Profiteroles and Chocolate Sauce. Food was PHENOMENAL! Loved the ambiance and the elevated taste of every dish! I was there for a conference and wanted to try out good creole food. I left happy!
Paula Szekely
Excellent food, service and ambiance! The Lamb Chops were like butter and the entire plate cooked and seasoned to perfection! The creamiest grits with seasoned fresh shrimp make the plate a great choice. Select Lunch cocktails are priced right. Can't forget to mention the warm baguette.
Andrea Lewis
The food was absolutely amazing. Just wish the portions were a little bigger but in all great. Would definitely go back, it’s a little pricey but well worth it. We had two waiters which was unusual and confusing at first. Really good service and awesome food, you won’t be disappointed.
Nate Sierer
Excellent service and amazing food! Best BBQ shrimp on New Orleans. The shrimp and grits are off the charts as well! Pecan pie is to die for. If you like to dine at the bar look for Larry, he won’t steer you wrong! Excellent drinks and recommendations. Thank you for a great experience!

This place has a nice atmosphere in downtown New Orleans. Our server was on top of things and gave amazing recommendations. My family is pretty critical when it comes to food, but all of our dishes were overwhelmingly delicious. Highly recommend!!!

Always good! Excellent service. You must try their signature BBQ shrimp! It's excellent and it's an experience. Their steak is top notch and the gumbo is more savory than spicy - perfect flavor and temperature. Drinks from the bar are well crafted.

Service was phenomenal and food was delicious! Gumbo had a great consistency and had large pieces of chicken. The BBQ Shrimp was exceptional! The bread pudding was so delicious and the creamy sauce complimented it perfectly. We highly recommend for any occasion!

My boyfriend and I visited Mr B’s for the first time to celebrate our anniversary and we were HIGHLY pleased with everything. Walking into the restaurant we were greeted swiftly with a “Happy Anniversary” and escorted to our table. We were told happy anniversary again and brought two glasses of champagne by our waiters. The service was absolutely superb. Our waiters were every attentive and kind. I accidentally ordered the wrong dish thinking it was something else on the menu and they took it back with no question and brought out the dish I was trying to order. We ordered the fried oysters, crab cake, bistro burger, gumbo yaya, barbecued shrimp, pecan pie, pimm’s cup cocktail and blood orange margarita. Everything was OUT OF THIS WORLD, I mean just melt in your mouth GOODNESS!!
Candace
My Royal St. salad was delicious. I wanted to lick the plate to get every drop of dressing. The fig appetizer had the freshest figs and best blue cheese ever. And I love a good stuffed fig. I’m still partial to the bourbon milk punch at Bourbon House, but the brandy milk punch here was a close second. Phenomenal service at the bar. Thanks for everything guys. I’ll be back!!
Renee M
The shrimp...served with a bib was sooo freaking delicious. Three of us ate, 2 of us dipped all our food in the shrimp juice. The shrimp were big a juicy and seasoned perfectly. My red fish was so moist and bursting with flavor. I enjoyed the meal immensely!!
Moss Chuenphan
Good steak, beef and fish, cocktail is the best as you can ask out-of-the-menu for special event. I love this place so much. The service is extraordinary!!! I will come back here for sure.
Jason Mouton
Fantastic food and top notch service. The only food item that was not superb was the pork chop. It wasn’t bad, it was a bit dry and not seasoned well. That said, I will still definitely return on my next trip to NOLA.

So, I spent exactly 7 days in New Orleans. In that time, I’ve eaten 30 bowls of gumbo. This is by far the best gumbo in this town. The roux is like melted chocolate, just absolutely perfect. The seafood was developed in the roux and not others cooking a general roux and adding cold or quick grilled items when ordered. My wife ordered the crab cake and said it was the best she had in her life. There were two waiters tending to us, Jeremy and William two great guys. They worked together, and had fun doing it. Only thing off is the cherries were smashed in The old fashion. Old fashion drinkers like the cherry pop at the end, very disappointed.
Michael Sweet
I was a little nervous when I saw the mixed reviews, but this place was amazing! Seafood gumbo, fried oysters, soft shell crab with creamy corn, and the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits - all fantastic! Service was great too. This goes on the all-time greats list for sure.

Visiting NOLA for the first time and heard tons of great things about Mr. B from coworkers and Yelp reviews. Definitely lived up to the hype. The BBQ shrimp sauce and crabcake were to die for. I will definitely be coming back if I visit again!
Food
I had the opportunity to try a lot of different appetizers since I came with my coworkers and also the barbecued shrimp.
There seem to be a lot of mixed reviews on the BBQ shrimp but I think that this dish is a MUST TRY. The shrimp are HUGE compared to shrimp that I have eaten elsewhere. They come out with the head and shell on so you have to take it off yourself and it can get very messy (you get a bib that the staff ties on for you though!). If you do not like getting your hands dirty then this is not the entree for you. But if you can get past all the work then you are in for a treat. The sauce is very buttery but delicious. I loved dipping the shrimp in the sauce after every bite. The bread was very soft and make sure to dip and soak up the sauce!
The duck spring rolls were delicious. A good amount of duck is rolled into each roll and the ginger based sauce is nice.
The fried oysters weren't as crispy as I thought it would be, but still nice and moist oysters.
The truffle fries definitely had that truffle taste to it. There was a good amount of fries but I'm not sure if I would get it again since I want to pair it with some kind of dipping sauce but did not get any.
The jumbo crabcake is a MUST TRY appetizer!! Large, beautiful looking crabcake that has lots of crab in it. Glad it wasn't all breading.
The pecan pie was pretty good, but I still have yet to find a place that makes it better than my mom. Nevertheless, great pie that was warm and went well with the ice cream.
Atmosphere
A fancy feeling restaurant that gives it a nice vibe. Noise level was moderate but I could still hear everyone at my table for 8 people. Definitely a nicer restaurant that I would take people to if I wanted to impress. I could still wear a t shirt and shorts in though, but I also saw people wearing full on suits.
Pricing
On the expensive side so it's a place you go to treat yourself. As a tourist, might be a price I'd be willing to pay for the food and experience.
Service
Service was just okay in my experience. The staff was very nice and helpful in recommending options. However, they did not do a good job in keeping track of our silverware. When they would clear our plates from appetizer to entree, or entree to dessert we constantly had to ask for new forks/spoons. One of my coworkers started cutting their pork chop with a knife and knife since it took so long for a new fork to come out. In addition, my coworker had ordered medium cooked pork chop, but it came out basically rare. This was not resolved until the end of our meal where he had only eaten 1/4 of the pork chop. Not holding this against the 5 star rating I'm giving them since I tend to rate more on food unless service is very, very bad.
Other
Make a reservation since it can get busy! Not too much standing room inside when if you are waiting. Not much parking around and since it is near Bourbon street, driving can be difficult. Great location to walk from if you are in the Bourbon area.

Food was great! The service was wonderful!! There was a bit of a wait, but you're in the French Quarter so more than enough to occupy your time! We had Pear Cosmopolitan, truffle fries, bacon wrapped shrimp and grits and the ribeye, everything was delicious!!
Jaleesa Pinson
Mr. B's Bistro was by far the best restaurant my husband & I dined at during my bday trip to the French Quarter! We had seafood gumbo, duck spring rolls, barbecued shrimp, & lamb. For drinks I had a cocktails (the one with grapefruit) & my husband had bloody Mary's. Ask for Kendrick & J.C. they gave exceptional service & took great care of us! We will definitely visit again when in New Orleans!
C C
Our experience was pretty meh here. We went in with high expectations based on the reviews, but left wishing we went somewhere else given how expensive it was to eat there. The service was really slow — our waiter didn’t seem to have any energy or enthusiasm with any of his tables. I saw a few other reviews that didn’t love the gumbo, and we didn’t either. The rest of the food was alright, but definitely not worth the cost.
Ginger Routh
This well-lived spot hardly needs another 5 star review. But the fish dinner I had here was the best I’ve ever eaten. Incredible service, rich atmosphere, steeped in the history of the French Quarter. What’s not to live? We bought the cookbook.
Jim Vosler
This place is great, food, service and atmosphere. Extremely well prepared food and the staff was friendly and helpful. Well worth the cost. Daniel was fantastic and suggested great dishes.
Ralph Aguilera
The best shrimp and grits in the U.S.A.! My only complaint is the portion size. Order an app or ask for a double portion. Absolutely delicious though.
Arlene Coco Buscombe
The Brennan Clan does not dissapoint. Came here with family, as I wanted to teach the children what it means to "dine" instead of just eat out. I had the shrimp and grits and a salad. Classic New Orleans flavors well presented. Excellent service despite being busy.
Craig Winn
Loved the high end atmosphere with suits and black/white dressed staff. Tee shirts were allowed at lunch. Be careful at dinner. Food was high end on taste and presentation. Cost was expensive but they delivered. We got lucky with $1.50 Bloody Mary and martinis. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
Gustavo Torres
The food was excellent, but the social justice stinks. It felt like walking back into the 1960s. The first thing I noticed was that the hostess, manager, and bar staff are all white, and the wait, bus, and kitchen staff are all black. Coincidence? I know that this is the deep south, but c'mon. All that aside the crab cakes were amazing, the cocktails were delicious, and the jambalaya pasta was spectacular. Service was impeccable. Jeremy was a top shelf waiter.

✨We went here for dinner right before the Miss Universe show. We tried to get a reservation but was unsuccessful for the time that we needed. We tried our luck and showed up when they open and luckily they were able to fit us in 👍
✨We ordered the Filet Mignon, Short Ribs, BBQ shrimps, burger, and duck. For desserts, we got the bread pudding and king cake.
✨ The restaurant was very nice, cozy, and intimate. Our waiter provided us great service and very attentive to our every needs. We had a baby and a 6 year-old and we felt very comfortable the whole time.
✨It took a little while for the food to come out so plan on waiting for a little bit. The Short Ribs and BBQ shrimps were our favorites! The filet mignon and burger was our least. As for the desserts, the bread pudding is a must get. It was so delicious 😋
✨Overall, I would give it a 5/5. However, I would stick to their seafood dishes 👍

Mr. B's Bistro was recommended to us by a friend who lives in Louisiana. We decided to try them and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the friendliness and professionalism of the staff made the experience one we will remember.
Mr. B's Bistro is on our list of places we have to go when we visit New Orleans.
Kristina Pandozzi
I was grateful we were able to get in here without a reservation the night we arrived. Food was great and service thoughtful. I was amazed how well the flavors in the crab ravioli with fall vegetables (asparagus, Brussels sprouts and squash) paired It was a great way to start our holiday.

Mr. B’s never fails. The food is amazing and the service is even better. If we are in New Orleans then we will be going to Mr. B’s. I have never had a bad anything here. The food is always delicious and the portions are good. It’s not like some of those restaurants where you go and then have to go eat again when you leave. The prices are what you would expect also.
We went to celebrate my mother-in-laws 87th birthday and Jeremy and D’challance could not have taken better care of us and especially my mother-in-law. They catered to her like it was their mom at the table. They could not have done more to make her special day feel more special.
If you are in New Orleans, do yourself the favor and go. You won’t be disappointed.

Clearly we are having challenges from pandemic, supply chain in the great resignation. Not what it used to be. Profiterals were very good. Other dishes were off. I hate leaving a so-so review for such an institution but I hope someone reads it and realizes you've got to step it up a little bit.

Shame on me for not coming here sooner. The BBQ Shrimp are the best I've had in NOLA so far. The dessert was melt in your mouth. The Brandy Milk punch was pure Lagniappe. Service was on point at the bar. Will definitely be back. 👍👍
Gordon Wescoat
Mr. B's never disappoints. I had the jambalaya pasta and Ryan had the rosemary chicken. It was his birthday and they made it special.
Rebecca Silb
Had an amazing lunch here (the BBQ shrimp - not pictured- was to die for and the jambalaya pasta was also great). Our visit was made even better by our server, Jeremy, who was the best.
Wayne Georgeson
Had a very nice dinner here. The food here is really amazing, especially the BBQ shrimp. The waiters were excellent with great service and very attentive. The only reason for dropping it a star was the very smug hosts. We were dressed nice, very polite, and arrived on time. Honestly not sure why we had such smug, rude looks from both the hosts when we entered and left but you should have a talk with them.

Incredible dinner from start to finish at Mr. B's Bistro in New Orleans. Wouldn't expect anything less than perfection from a Brennan's family restaurant. I had the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp & Grits - A saute of pecanwood smoked bacon wrapped jumbo Gulf shrimp served with creamy stone ground grits and red-eye gravy. One word Phenomenonal! I also ordered a Blood Orange Margarita - A traditional margarita infused with blood orange purée
My wife had the Mr. B's Barbequed Shrimp - A Mr. B's signature dish, Gulf shrimp barbequed New Orleans style served in the shells with peppery butter sauce, French bread for dipping. One word Tremendous!
My son got the kids chicken tenders and fries. We had to get double desserts, my son had the Chocolate Molten Cup Cake- An individually baked rich chocolate cake with a fudgy center, topped with a quenelle of vanilla ice cream. Intensely chocolate and it was so good. My wife and I decided on Bread Pudding - A Brennan family recipe rich in eggs, creambutter, served warm with Irish whiskey sauce. Just a New Orleans classic.
Reed Radcliffe
Barbecue shrimp, great cocktails, outstanding service coupled with the crowd coming in off the street in the French Quarter make Mr B's an excellent New Orleans dining experience. It's always fun to take the uninitiated to dinner there.
Edit:
We came back again since the pandemic kept us away for three whole years. So so nice to be back, we were looking forward to Mr. B's above all else. Such wonderful food and drinks. We'll be back again next year, hopefully in April. Thanks to Dwayne and Michael for making us feel so welcome and hooking us up with such great service.
Micaela Castilla
Amazing place to have dinner! Food is really good and the Rocco and Ken are amazing! Shoutout to both of them for their hospitality, kindness and charisma.
Carrie Chlebanowski
Perfect choice for anniversary dinner. Service was impeccable, even while they are clearly struggling with staffing, they didnt mis a beat and were working as a team to make sure everyone was taken care of the whole time we were there. I donned the bib and enthusiastically dove into the barbeque shrimp. You should too.
Thuc Anh Nguyen
The BBQ shrimp is everything! Takes some work to eat it but it's all worth it. The shrimp bbq sauce with the soft bread just melt in your mouth. The wood fired fish and the oysters were ok. The service is super nice!
Heather Sedgeman
Lucky to walk in and sit right down on a busy Friday night. Great atmosphere. Very attentive and qualified staff. Food was tasty. One of the favorite stops on our trip. They checked vaccine cards before entry.
Loud Mouf
Very good experience! I ordered the porkchop and the garlic truffle fries. The meal was exceptional good.
The porkchop had a honey ginger sauce that really complimented the grill porkchop and it paired very well with the baby carrots and rice.
Olivia Blunder
Excellent food. The best we had in New Orleans and among the best in the US.
Pictures are pepper duck and soft pork with spätzle (best i had in the US so far!). I can also fully recommend the mushroom soup.
Danny Drake
Fantastic food. Outstanding atmosphere.
BBQ shrimp was amazing and the red fish was incredible.
Carsyn E
5 star food! It’s pricy but we throughly enjoyed our food. Highly recommend the BBQ shrimp entree. Plan ahead and make a reservation, you will want to try this place!
Katie Magner
Walked in on a busy Saturday night and were able to grab 2 seats at the bar. Full menu available. We had the pasta jambalaya and a burger and pecan pie. All so good. We especially enjoyed engaging with the bartenders who were fun, friendly and good natured. Loved this feeling of old school NOLA experience. Thanks for making it a great evening!
jack tsung
Excellent food and service! We had the gumbo ya ya and BBQ shrimp. We absolutely love the bbq shrimp. Best shrimp cuisine ever! Shrimp is very fresh and tender. The sauce is amazing. Highly recommend

I truly can't say enough wonderful things about our experience at Mr. B's! They accommodated our giant group of 20 people for my sister's bachelorette party and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time! Food was 10/10 delicious, the staff was so gracious and helpful, and Julie (director of sales and marketing) worked with me for weeks to plan everything and even made custom menus for my sister! Special shout-out to our waiters Alton and William for their amazing service and great personalities. :) We will absolutely be returning the next time we're in New Orleans!
Greg V
All we can say is wow! Had an amazing dinner! The table had the pork chop, bacon wrapped shrimp and grits, beet salad, and Ya Ya chicken gumbo. All were very good, actually excellent, but the shrimp and grits were amazing with a very nice smoky flavor. The service was so attentive, and the atmosphere was great. A must visit if in New Orleans.
Emily McLarty
Fantastic food and atmosphere! Fresh menu. The crab ravioli that was offered the night we were there was delicious!
Bobby Jinkins
Quaint old style New Orleans eatery. A Brennan's property. The service was impeccable, Brett was our server. He was attentive but not intrusive. We started with a delicious appetizer of the truffle fries. For the entree my wife had the garlic chicken and she said it was wonderful. I had the best shrimp and grits that it has ever been my privilege to enjoy. For dessert we had the lemon icebox pie, and the peach cobbler. Both were excellent. Go. Go often. Enjoy
Kevin Larsen
Had the chance to get back here for the first time in eight years and it did not disappoint. I love the barbeque shrimp - huge prawns drenched in a soup of dark, delicious sauce. It's a delightful mess requiring bib, fingers, and a couple napkins during the process, and rewarded with a hot, steamed towel with lemon for cleanup afterward. Our group also shared the bread pudding dessert, which was the perfect finish.
The staff took care of everything we needed without getting in the way. Once again, Mr. B's earned my loyalty and continues to be a must-do stop on any trip to the French Quarter.
Matthew Milner
We just had drinks and a snack at the tail end of lunch. Really excellent bartenders. Drinks were great and the snack we had was delicious. We will definitely be making dinner reservations here the next time we are in New Orleans.
J Red
Fancy atmosphere but dress code not a problem. Service was impeccable and the food was fantastic! Get the BBQ shrimp but beware its a lil messy but theu give you a bib! 😁 And the bread pudding... WOW!
Lisa Teter
The whole experience of dining here last night was SUPERB!! Claire made the evening with her attentiveness, suggestions, and fun personality. Stephen worked well with her for our large group. And my meal was amazing. I didn't leave a crumb on the plate. !
Thong Doan
Food was very good. The service was excellent. Got special $1.50 drinks for lunch.
Kevin Monds
I was in New Orleans for a conference and a local recommended several dining spots. Mr. B's was one of those. After looking at the menu online, our team felt Mr. B's was our top choice. So happy we did, as everyone on the team were very impressed with the quality of food, service and overall atmosphere. If I am ever back in New Orleans, Mr. B's will definitely be one of our stops.
Mark Owens
What a great experience, My wife and I waited about an hour to be seated, and it was so worth the wait. The Fillet was cooked perfect, melt in your mouth good, you know what I'm talking about. My wife had redfish which was equally as good, the sides were perfect and seasoned nicely, finished it off with some bread pudding topped with an amazing Irish whiskey sauce, so good. We'll be back. Thanks.
Evelyn LaLei
We were looking for BBQ shrimp and found this spot slightly removed from Bourbon St. and we were so thankful we did! This restaurant looks like 5 star dining with waiters dressed very fancily. But the food makes you wanna slap your mama! I’m not a huge fan of alcohol either and this place’s drinks were the ONLY ones I enjoyed my whole trip to NO (I’m not a fan of the simple daiquiris and cocktails readily found on Bourbon). The staff was so kind, with our server Anton ensuring we had every need met including putting on and removing our BBQ Shrimp bibs. He was also extremely knowledgable and kind, as was the other server in our area, Giorgio (I am so sorry if I have his name wrong!). We were really nervous about going here because it seemed so low key, but it is clearly NO’s biggest not so secret. We will for sure be back (I’m also a very picky eater and don’t like all of the other generic food in the Quarter...this was the only restaurant that wasn’t aiming to be like the rest!)!
Stacey Brown
We were told there was a dress code. We dressed accordingly. However, there were SEVERAL patrons out of order. In baseball hats, hoodies, collar less shirts, t-shirts. We were seated immediately, we did have a reservation. The service was good...almost overly attentive. And the food was tasty. I had the fire grilled red fish and it was a bit dry. My companion had shrimp and grits...very small portion. I also had a white chocolate bromine, which was good.
LaQuita Dalton
I was not impressed with this food at all. My steak was overcooked and lacked any type of seasoning. The roux to the gumbo was burnt... you could taste it... and the shrimp were so overcooked, it was soft to the bite. Our waiter made sooo many mistakes on our bill that he had to go back several times to fix it. Even in the end it wasn't correct and we just said forget it. The looks of the establishment is deceiving. The atmosphere is nice but not the food.
Jose A Carrero Jr
Definitely recommend the jambalaya. Good atmosphere and great food. My wife looked up the Gumbo Ya-Ya recipe which they provide for you on their website.
We shared an appetizer of the Ya-Ya and wish we would have ordered our own 🤤
Owen Murphy
The Barbecue Shrimp is the greatest dish I’ve ever had. Ever. The hospitality was exceptional and the atmosphere was second to none. Give it a try.
Cera Culbert
Went on Thanksgiving, the food was very good, but it's certainly not cheap, we had 3 starters, 3 entrees, 1 (cheaper) bottle of wine, and 2 desserts among 4 people and it was roughly $90/head. It was definitely plenty of food though.
I'd go back for special occasions but it's not an everyday kind of place

Mr. B’s is one of the dwindling old school restaurants in the French Quarter. However, old school should not have a negative connotation. What I liked about my visit was the server staff who were very professional. It is like being a guest at a country club. My dish, the garlic chicken, was uniquely flavored and I am glad I ordered it. I often do not order dessert but my tip is to consider the pecan pie as it was worth the calories. Good service and food, there was plenty to like about Mr. B’s.
Imah Effiong
I always forget that the service at the Brennan locations is lacking. Could be a controversial view, but when I didn’t even get a water within 5 minutes of being seated, was never asked if I wanted another drink, and watched other tables that sat down after us eat their main course, memories of past experiences came back to me. If you can look past the possibility that service will be subpar, the food is very good. My husband is always trying to recreate the bbq shrimp and he left a very happy man after eating his meal. The pecan pie is delectable. The pork chop was well seasoned and very thick. I was also happy that we were able to do walk ins on a Friday night. They accommodated my toddler daughter which I appreciate since the atmosphere isn’t conducive for children. Not a bad thing just an FYI for other parents.

Delicious!
We went for my birthday lunch. The ambiance is quiet, laid back, but still a bit upscale. We went during the Sunday brunch and were pleasantly pleased to hear jazzy sounds and even a live trio of signers at one point.
I would highly recommend reservations.
We had the bbq shrimp which we amazing! Full of flavor, but be warned.. you peel them yourself and they do squirt. The bib the bring you is a necessity!
The bread pudding was also very tasty. Very moist and nice "comfort" flavors.
S Mac
Hoping this was just a bad night. We were excited to try this place. The gumbo was just ok. Duck rolls were very good. Our entrees were not good at all. Jambalaya had very little seafood and the sauce was overpowering. Roasted garlic chicken was chewy. The sauce and orzo that accompanied it was delicious. Service was good.
The dress code isn't inforced. I get it, it's Nola, but upscale casual shouldn't include ripped jeans, shorts and tees at dinner.
We will give it another try on our next trip. Friends that visited pre covid had great things to say.
Jenny Evans
We finally made it after years of living in the area. Honestly we were a little let down by the service. Not sure if wait staff can’t write stuff down but we had a drink order and entree completely wrong. Our pregnant friend asked if they did mock tails… we were told no which is surprising for a fine dining establishment. The food itself was delicious.
Nikki V
Terrence was our server and he was absolutely awesome! Friendly had great suggestions for our dinner and drinks. The food was delicious service was excellent! Definitely will go back when I'm in New Orleans again.
Joshua Edelstein
We were at Mr. B's for lunch on Thurs 12/15 and had an amazing experience. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp & grits (best ever shrimp and grits - bacon wrap is thick and charred and has a perfect smoky / sweet taste), veal (perfectly breaded), and a few of the $1.50 bloody mary specials. Jeremy, our waiter, was funny and smooth and made you feel like a million bucks. This is the second time in a row we have started our New Orleans trips with a stop at Mr Bs, and I'm pretty sure we will do it again next time we go.

5 star atmosphere is a given. From the moment you walk in you know the staff cares about your comfort and experience, they are polite, and attentive. The food is on par with the staff and price, and the decor brings it all together nicely.
Steve Baxter
I gave Mr B's five because I couldn't give it six. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was world class. I don't like to use so many superlatives at the risk of sounding disingenuous But I must. It truly is a menu that has no weaknesses. Please try the pork chop and the catfish fingers. Your welcome.
Dale Katz
OK…I freaked about my wife wanting a $30 crab cake. Worth every penny. Best we’ve ever had. Super friendly high-brow service. (Those two usually don’t go together.) Outstanding!
Sabine McDermott
Great food! Located in the French Quarter and ordered the Buffalo chicken and it was great. Other diners meals looked good. Excellent service by staff, fair pricing, clean and comfortable. Highly recommend this place.
Patrick Adams
Fantasic food and atmosphere.. 2 waiters to take care of every table.. bacon wrapped shrimp and grits were some of the best ive had. The red eye gravy was excellent in flavor without being too strong.
Robby Beamer
Loved the oysters, the gumbo was ok.. My wife says it was the best shrimp and grits she has had..
Aileen Jimenez
This place is good but not amazing. The stellar part was the BBQ shrimp, the name is deceiving, it's not like bbq sauce. The shrimp itself was ok, possibly tad undercooked, but that broth is out of this world. The shrimp and grits were meh, the bacon shrimp was overcooked, and the crab ravioli was drowning in butter (according to my friend). Salad was enjoyable, truffle fries were delicious and the foie gras. Service was good.
Ronnie M
Not only was the food amazing but the service was just as good. Thanks for the great experience

My family has been going to Mr AB’s since my parents lived in NOLA in the 80’s. It has a permanent place in our family whenever we are in NOLA because the food and service are top notch! We always get the gumbo ya-ya, and BBQ shrimp. We will always be back!
Willie Porche
Absolutely fantastic. From the bar b cue shrimp, to the shrimp and grits, and the crab cakes were delicious! It's pricey, but definitely worth it at least once while in the city.
Gretchen
Wonderful Wednesday lunch experience. Portions are generous and $1.50 martini and bloody Mary’s during lunch
Megan Gebert
First time here, and on recommendation from a NoLa local. Service and food/drink started strong with Duck Springrolls that were rich and crispy (the ginger-soy dipping sauce was on the heavy side), cocktails were interesting, and the staff was attentive and friendly. Appetizers and cocktails arrived promptly. Entrees took 15-20 minutes and staff was largely absent during this time. The entrees were underwhelming and bland: Roasted Grilled Chicken was dry and flavorless, Wood Grilled Fish (red snapper) was overcooked, and the rice and green beans lacked flavor and texture. Both dishes were similar to catered hotel conference food. A second drink was ordered (a simple bourbon on the rocks) early when entrees arrived, but the drink sat at the bar (in plain view) almost the entire time. Staff only checked in with the bourbon when we were done. With a bill of around $160, Mr. B's was disappointing.

Detailed Review:
We went to Mr. B's Bistro on a Thursday night for dinner. This is a cozy atmosphere restaurant. After we sat at our table, they first brought out a bread and butter (a typical style of French culture).
For the appetizer, I ordered Crispy Fried Oysters. It tasted good. Then, I ordered the most well-known of this restaurant: Mr. B’ S Barbequed Shrimp, and it was very delicious. I highly recommend you to try it out.
.
Just one last thing, if you park your car at Premium Parking - P145 (right across the restaurant), you will want to keep you Mr. B's receipt. With your receipt at Mr. B, you will have a discount at the Parking.

Rafael was our bartender. He did a great job with his colleague, Larry. Recommend!

Food was great and service was just fantastic. Our server Ken was top notch. Wish I could give 10 stars. A dining experience this good is hard to find these days.
Brendan McDowell
Delicious food and excellent service with a casual, yet old-school vibe.
Sofia Clariana
The best restaurant experience I had in 5 days in New Orleans. The service is outstanding: polite, mannered, without constant interruptions and fantastic recommendations. The food was absolutely incredible and it was very hard to decide. I had the 2 course lunch, and even the simple salad tasted like heaven. The Crawfish with peas and potatoes was delicious and the veal one of the best ones I've tried. Of course you can't leave without tasting the pecan pie. I loved the atmosphere, the food and the service! I would surely repeat when I visit again.
Kathy Lechman
Outstanding. The best meal that I had during my recent visit to New Orleans. Food was excellent and the service was exemplary. Great atmosphere. Duck spring rolls were outstanding and the veal chop was nicely prepared. The bread pudding was just so so it is better at Muriel's on Jackson Square.
Cassandra Ryder
One of my favorite meals I had during my trip! Had the gumbo, BBQ shrimp, and bread pudding. All were delicious!
K Mac
Mr. B's was always our go to place in NOLA. This visit the food was the same - outstanding, but the service just was really off. We felt ignored (gasp!). We were never asked if we wanted another drink. There were long gaps between courses. Maybe there were COVID related server shortages, but this was our first dine-in experience in two years and it just felt sad. We left without having dessert because they were so off their game.

Had the BBQ shrimp dish, very well made. Don’t be afraid of the mess and using your fingers. You’ll get a bib, wear it. Also, try the Brandy Milk Punch. Expedience dessert and drink all in one. Devon was my server, very polite and attentive. Best service I had in a long time.
Ian Binder
Ended up here because everywhere else on the street was packed, this was the only available table, and I'm glad it worked out that way. The food was great. I got the redfish special and my friend had the steak. Neither disappointed. Service was alright, nothing incredible.
Ricardo van Dijk
Great place for a traditional southern meal in New Orleans! Their shrimps in Louisiana style barbecue sauce is incredible! I had to ask for more bread to make sure I did not leave any of the amazing sauce behind. The profiteroles were also very good! I’d definitely recommend this place for anyone visiting the city.
TIMOTHY ANDERSON
The food was excellent! We went for Sunday brunch. I had filet and eggs. The steak was incredible. If you are an oyster lover, then try the fried oysters. They we're perfectly meal battered and hard fried. Very nice experience. The BBQ shrimp are world class. I would order the BBQ shrimp over the shrimp and grits. Can't go wrong here.
Alexandria Robinson
Always delicious! We really enjoy the crab cake and the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits. The servers are always so friendly and attentive.
Dan Duerst
I have been saying it since 1993... best restaurant in New Orleans! Fantastic food.... incredible Service...and wonderful atmosphere! Server JC was absolutely outstanding!!!
J Seb
We walked upon Mr. B and while reading the menu outside, we were strongly suggested to stop looking and walk in. We got a table right away and and introduced to our amazing servers, Claire and Micheal. Following Claire’s suggestions, our orders were in and in no time we received our delicious appetizers, the food was fresh and amazing. All of our meals were tasty, from the steak to the pork chops including MR. B’s shrimps. Definitely 5 stars for food and 5 stars for service... oh and did I mention the warm bread.
rob fischer
Absolutely mindblowingly delicious Louisiana BBQ shrimp.
And the other stuff isn't bad either.

Great Great Great Restaurant One of my favorite spots in New Orleans!!!!! In the heart of the beautiful French Quarter (Royal and Iberville a block from Bourbon St). The service is outstanding, the food is phenomenal!!!! Must try is their famous BBQ Shrimp you will not go wrong! My wife and I went for our anniversary and it was amazing! Highly recommended. Just FYI call to make reservations to be seated.
Barbara Keenan
The service was spotty at best. My shrimp and grits were not hot and the shrimp were overcooked. I've had better chocolate cake on school cafeterias

Classy is the first word I would use to describe this place. Upscale dining without breaking the bank. I had lunch here and the food was delicious. I would suggest the duck egg roles and an app. The staff is incredible and there is no cocktail they have not mastered. One of the MUST go to places in New Orleans. I highly recommend this place.
Mark Holifield
Great restaurant. One of the top 5 restaurants to eat at in New Orleans. The spring rolls, crab cake, fried oyster and garlic fries are awesome. We also enjoyed the Buster Crab. The Bread pudding and lemon ice box pie are definitely recommended. Make reservations. This place is busy.

There are very few places I will make a repeat visit to while on vacation. This is absolutely without a doubt one of them in NOLA. Brian, one of the bartenders, goes above and beyond for his customers, making sure glasses never go empty, offering great conversation as well as favorite selections on the menu. What you see pictured is the Mr. B's Barbequed Shrimp. Directly before my dish was placed before me, Brian came around the bar to place a lined bib around my neck and extra napkins on the bar for me. My goodness, what service and as soon as those gigantic shrimp were presented, I knew I was in love. They were the size of my whole hand! They were perfectly cooked, the sauce was to die for and the bread that came along with the dish I used to soak up as much of it as I possibly could! Brian also served up a mean Bloody Mary to go along with my delectable dish. Let's also not forget to mention that upon finishing my entrée, Brian whipped up a nice dish of warm damp towels with lemons so I could clean my hands thoroughly. What service!!!
Orianna Snook
We enjoyed our cocktails and meal very much. The staff was very gracious and on point with our every need. The shrimp was done perfectly and the red fish with the Meuniere sauce was exceptional.
Ankita
I've been wanting to dine here everytime I visited New Orleans and when I finally did, I was left beyond satisfied. The fried oysters with hollandaise sauce was delectable, and so were the scallops. The braised rabbit was tender and delicious.
Wish I could visit more often but I live in another city.
Andy Hopp
We visited on a Sunday night and it was super busy. We didn't have a reservation (which I highly would recommend) and the wait was around an 1 hr 15 min and the bar was extremely busy as well. Drinks were very good and very reasonable priced.
Dinner was amazing! We ate pretty light and split the dishes as we were full from 2 days of gorging on all the NOLA delicacies. We got the fried oysters with the gumbo sampler (pork and seafood versions) and they were fantastic. The gumbos both had some really great flavor and seasoning to them. Our favorite was the BBQ Shrimp. It looked daunting at first, but was absolutely delicious. Fair warning that dish is pretty messy (they even put a bib on you).
The wait staff was very professional and extremely attentive. This was one of our favorite places!
Sofia 13
Absolutely amazing everything!! Service was a 10/10, all food, desserts, and drinks were super great too! Definitely coming back next time I come back!
Krutika Simon
This place is one of the best restaurants in the French Quarter! You can never go wrong with anything on the menu but the Shrimp & Grits, Rabbit, or Trout. Their appetizers and salads are also fantastic! Finished off with the sorbet which was absolutely amazing!! We will back again, and again, and again!
Billie Jo Hebert
This place is amazing! The staff was on point the food was delicious the atmosphere was Devine. It was a bit pricey but you already know this going in the door. It was worth every penny spent.
Doctor Chef
Summary: Upscale creole restaurant serving unrivaled barbequed shrimp and exquisite desserts. Both the ambiance and service are excellent and perfect for special occasions. A trip to New Orleans is worth it alone to experience dining at Mr B's and trying their barbequed shrimp.
Must Try: Barbequed shrimp (can request more bread to finish the sauce) and Profiteroles and chocolate sauce.
Also recommended: Bacon wrapped shrimp and grits.
Avoid: N/A
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Outstanding, worth a special excursion

I love Mr. B's! I make a point to come here on my annual trek to New Orleans. I went with a friend this time and we shared a perfectly cooked tenderloin topped with a pat of truffle butter. What a flavor combination! A well-shaken Cosmo started it off, and a shared chocolate molten cupcake to finish it off. Delicious.
Farrel Prince
The atmosphere is awesome the food is awesome fresh cooked the wait staff is right on very attentive and the drinks are great
Must eat here if u ever in New Orleans

The crab cakes, barbecue shrimp, and bread pudding were delicious!! The food tasted so good!! We will definitely be back!! The bar is quiet, intimate, and the bar staff was amazing!! So glad we came here this afternoon!!
Natalie LeBlanc
Love love love this place! Food and hospitality are excellent! The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming. We always get the bbq shrimp. The servers are first class. I could listen to their New Orleans accents all day. This is a classic Nola restaurant that never disappoints.
Hope Byer-Everd
The service by Michael and the food? Was absolutely AMAZING! The lunch menu had $1 Bloody Mary and Martinis on it. The food choices with a fantastic French twist was phenomenal! BBQ shrimp, shrimp and grits, the burger, and the bread? Wow. Definitely gotta try this llacenif you're in NOLA!

Mr. B's is an atmosphere that feels formal without feeling stuffy if you know what I mean. You do not need to be wearing a coat and tie, but the staff will be, and they'll be serving food fit for a coat and tie establishment. A really nice touch was there was a partially open kitchen here, so we could see our entrees being prepared.
Both Chas and I ordered the house specialty, the BBQ Shrimp! Ironically this dish has quite literally nothing to do with BBQ whatsoever. This is a sauteed head-on shrimp dish that has a major amount of butter with some Worcestershire and cracked black pepper throughout. This velvety butter broth is seriously divine and I used probably half a loaf of their house baked bread just soaking up the remains once I was done with the shrimp. The shrimp themselves were cooked absolutely perfectly and were covered in more than enough sauce. This dish is so serious that the servers will come around and put a paper bib on you prior to serving the dish to be sure your clothing is protected. He did not ask...he just did. One second I was thanking him for bringing it over, the next he was tying it behind my head.
I am not someone who typically sucks out the remains of the shrimp once I peel off the head...but today I was. I didn't want to pass on any of this insanely flavorful broth!! I sucked out the heads, the tails, sucked on the outside of the shell...I didn't care one bit. I probably looked to other tables like a homeless person having their first meal in weeks...and I was perfectly okay with this. This was by far one of the best shellfish dishes i've ever had. After I used bread to soak up most of the remaining stock, i then just used one prong of my fork over and over while trying to guess everything that was used to make it. I think I was pretty close too when Chas let me know that they have a recipe book and I could just find out that way. *FacePalm*
We got lucky and got a late table at Mr. B's, and i'm so happy we did. Normally you cannot get in as late as we tried but the universe must have been on our side that night. Chas had been here before with Sylvia and wanted me to be able to see for myself why they enjoyed it so much. The message was easy to read, this place is a winner.

Great vibe. The BBQ shrimp is yummy. Only issue was I had to return it because it wasn’t hot. Promptly brought out a new one that was freshly made. Would definitely return.

Terrific restaurant week experience. Have allergy to leeks, so chef cheerfully subbed spinach to go with the grouper. Paired with a bottle of inexpensive California viognier, it was a dinner to die for. Friends had fantastic bread pudding; I chose good pecan pie. Thankfully my friends shared.

Always a must when we visit our favorite city. It has become a dining routine to go to the bar at Mr. B’s have a sleeve of hot fresh French bread with soft butter, a glass of wine and some of their Awesome Gumbo Ya Ya (rich dark roux, chicken & andouille)... Love it!
Not to take anything away from their famous BBQ Shrimp or fried oysters. Overall I’ve never had a bad meal at Mr. B’s. They have a great waitstaff with team service to ensure that you are well taken care of.
This is truly one of New Orleans shining stars.
Renan DeBarros
We made two visits to Mr B’s on our last trip to New Orleans because of how delicious the food is here. The BBQ shrimp is amazing and not the “bbq” you would expect. The Jambalaya Pasta was also really good. The portions are great. The bread and butter they serve is fresh and tasty. The staff was very nice and treated us well, whether we were wearing suits (first visit) and just off the street with casual clothes (second visit). I was blessed with how yummy everything was and can’t stop talking about it. Looking forward to returning soon.

Heaven. That's the best way to describe this restaurant!
French bread in a bag is delivered to your table along with butter. I started my meal with a Magnolia Bash beverage. It was strong and had a good flavor. They definitely don't skimp on the alcohol!
I got the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp & Stone Ground Grits. Holy. Heck. That was definitely the best shrimp I've ever had!! It was plump and juicy. I'm not usually one to like grits, but these were rich and creamy. To top it all off was a dark sweet and sour sauce that brought the whole dish together.
My boyfriend got the Truffle Butter Filet Mignon with sauteed spinach and garlic potato rounds. The streak was cooked to perfection and the homemade truffle sauce was filled with flavor! A surprise with this dish was the spinach! It wasn't bland spinach at all..I think they put some of the truffle oil into it as well. The potatoes were also good.
To finish the meal, I got the Lemon Ice Box pie. I was expecting it to be a bit more lemon-y but it was more creamy, probably due to sweetened condensed milk. Regardless, it was still very yummy!
Our server, JC, was very knowledgeable and had been there for 35 years! He was very kind and took good care of us. When my mom asked what was in her butter sauce, he proceeded to tell her exactly how they made it AND brought her their restaurant cookbook!
This restaurant will be on my list of places to visit when I go to New Orleans. Everyone else at our table was happy with their meals too. I did get to sneak a dip of bread in the BBQ Shrimp juice, which was also very tasty (and not too spicy!)
Matthew Rowzee
I ate the pork, carrot and rice dish and it was excellent! Can't wait to go back next time we visit New Orleans.

Oh lord those some juicy grilled shrimp !!
Very delicious & lip-smacking gravy with that soft bread is to die for.
Absolutely recommend 👍
New Orleans + 🍤 = happy tummy 😁 …

Nice atmosphere. Good service. Waiters will fill up your cup every 3 sips you take. So good attention to detail. I got here right when they opened on a weekday - 11:30 am. Wasn't full the whole time I was there until I left at almost 1 pm. So around noon on a weekday is definitely the time to go, I hear it gets busy at nights/weekends. Great shrimp and grits, and great duck spring rolls. Would come back. Expected nothing less from a Brennans establishment.

One of the best meals I've ever had in my life. The food was so on point and the staff knew what I needed before I did. The drinks were great. The food though, oh man. Delicious. Just delicious. The scallops were cooked perfectly, same as the prime rib (seasonal special) and chicken. But the BBQ Shrimp is heaven on a plate. Mouth watering good!
Nick DeMarco
Unbelievable food, cozy atmosphere, reasonable prices! Servers were nice and came by frequently, the chicken was excellent.
Nicholas Romano
Pretty good. Ordered fried oysters and gumbo with pasta. Not particularly memorable, except the bread really was great, and was actually the highlight. Coffee good. Service impeccable.
Gregory Stubbs
Nice upscale vibe and delicious food, the only reason for not giving this place five stars is the due the waitress started to ignore our table when it was check time. Had to ask another waiter to assist us with getting our check.
Umeko VanDuzee
Mr. B's has been my favorite place for years. I've even flown out for a day and made sure to stop by for their BBQ Shrimp. I tell anyone who mentions NOLA to make sure they stop there. Sharing a meal with friends has always been a great experience with the top notch service at Mr. B's.
However, this past weekend I took my family as it was their first time in NOLA, I was embarrassed after raving about what a wonderful experience this always has been. I'm not sure if it was because we were there for lunch (I've only done dinners there) or if they are having issues with hiring quality people because of the times. We had a small party, and there were not a lot of people there when we arrived. Other tables were seated, ate and left before we had our main course.
Even though we had the normal 2 servers, we were hardly checked on. One of the servers was so rude, and seemed like we were a bother to be there. I won't go into all the details, but I certainly won't recommend this place anymore. The food was amazing as always, but the service left a bad taste in my mouth and questioning if I'll be back.
Life With Cats by suntawrites
Excellent service. Toni, our waitress, was superb. The gumbo was good. The burgers and fries were delicious!! Strong pours at the bar. Nice place!
Lucy Bommareddy
Indisputable: best BBQ Shrimp on the planet. Make sure you ask for extra bread, you won't want to waste a DROP of the sauce.
Great Bloody Mary too, especially when extra spicy. Needless to say, excellent place for brunch after a long night!
Matthew Wagner
Excellent local flavor. This visit I had seafood gumbo, fried oysters with a delicious jalepeno tartar sauce, crab cake, and a slice of southern pecan pie!
Jan Freimann
Went to Mr. B‘s Bistro for Lunch at the Bar (3pm). Had BBQ Shrimp ($31) and Gumbo Ya Ya ($9)! Awesome! Mimosas are excellent too!
Audrey
Extremely satisfied with this bistro. The place is very nice and they are well-staffed, so everything is quick and smooth. Their drinks were incredible prices! If you're looking for a comfortable and classy restaurant, this is perfect for you.
The food was amazing! Absolutely no complaints.
Gowthami Venkateswaran
Went for the bbq shrimp and was not disappointed. The buttery/peppery sauce was out of the world. Must must try!
Happy Girl Travels
My favorite NOLA restaurant! The service from the moment you walk in the door is 5 star.
Our waiters Ken and Aiken were the best waiters! Never a empty glass and the dinner service flowed well. Ken knew the menu well!
The Gumbo Ya Ya is the stuff dreams are made of! We also had the oysters, both fish specials and the roasted chicken. All so delicious - dessert was also perfect!
Make a reservation or go early! A must try!!!
Michelle Carmouche
Hands down my favorite restaurant in NOLA! It was my fiance's birthday and I wanted his dinner to be super special so I knew that Mr.B's would perfect. They were prepared for our arrival. Our server was very kind and patient with us being out was his first visit it was hard for him to choose from so many yummy dishes. In the end his grilled fish was perfection and my bbq shrimp was Exactly how I remembered it absolutely perfect. And no words can describe how good the garlic truffle fries were. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and will be returning every time we come to my favorite city on earth.
Houy Yang
Food and service was excellent, definitely will go back and have their cod and pecan rice... 🤌🏻
Anthony Strickland
I was visiting New Orleans for work and a co-worker recommended Mr. B's to me. Outstanding meal. I had the barbeque shrimp. A must have in New Orleans. Get prepared to make a mess, but it's so worth it, as is the French bread on the table. Upscale service and atmosphere. Definitely will be back!
Seth Evans
Fantastic food. Service was lacking but everyone is short staffed so I understand.
Angi Branstetter
It was my birthday and the staff treated me like royalty. And the food - delicious!
Allen Young
Absolutely wish they were open all week. The food is amazing. The service is amazing. My wife and I was blown away. Great job.

Sit at the Bar! Right side near the corner! You’ll have a blast and meet great people. Brian the bartender was spot on for all his recommendations and was a pleasure to visit with. BBQ shrimp was phenomenal, rich flavor, great size shrimp and filling for sure.
Xin Wen
BBQ Shrimp is AMAZING!!! Other soups like Gumbo Yaya and seafood gumbo are also great! Besides, the sauce of pork belly is fantastic! Truly recommend this great place to everyone!
K G
VERY yummy and filling with fast service, this is a great place to get real New Orleans food while feeling just a bit fancy. :) I recommend the Ya Ya gumbo to start followed by the pork chop red beans and rice dish. The corn bread tastes just like my grandma's. YUM YUM!
Michael Druschel
Great local food selections in an upscale place. Gluten free menu is reasonable, just no soups and dessert limited to sorbet but still plenty of entrees to choose from. I thought the service was excellent. They will validate your parking at the nearby garage but note that it is just a steep discount, not. 100%. Loved my barbecue shrimp, which is one of their more famous dishes. The pear sorbet was very good.
Matthew Clark
Excellent food, but because it's great food, they are super busy and keeping up is tough on the staff. However, despite being busy the staff is friendly and professional. It's a loud restaurant, but all of French Quarter is loud. Overall, it's a great dining experience.
Andre
The atmosphere was great, awesome food and great staff. Mr. B's Bistro was a recommendation from my dentist, he wasn't wrong.
Tom Glynn
Great lunch service. Everything was good, but the service was absolutely 5 star. My daughter was cold, and our server made her a shawl from a tablecloth.
Quynh Tra My Nguyen
Good place. Good food. Very nice staff. Live jazz music on Sunday brunch. Definitely try the signature bbq shrimp! Cocktails are good too. We came here twice during our stay.
Brian P
High end, well known establishment in NOLA. However, our waitress was having an off day apparently and didn’t seem to really want to serve us, as she said when she greeted us, she didn’t really want to be here today. The food runners and bus-boys did a much better job tending to our needs and making the experience much more pleasant. The food was exceptional and I’d definitely go back just for the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits. The Soup Trio was a delight as well, giving you a small cup each, of the Gumbo Ya-Ya, Seafood Gumbo, and the Soup of the day. Mr B’s deserves the hype it gets, just hope your waiter gives you a better dining experience than ours did.
Alice De caux
Food is amazing definitely worth a visit, would recommend reserving a table as gets busy ,if you don’t you can sit at the bar which is also nice. Thanks for some delicious food and a lovely dining experience.
Terry Barnett
WOW! Great fried oysters!
Joy Landry
Went for the Sunday jazz brunch with my boyfriend. I had always been told about this restaurant and finally got to experience it for myself! The atmosphere felt like an old restaurant with just enough to make it modern.
We started off with their gumbo ya ya (chicken and sausage) and it was fantastic. Being from Cajun country, I'm always hesitent to try restaurant gumbos. If you are like me, let me tell you Mr. B's gumbo is safe to consume happily when you don't want to cook a pot yourself! They also bring out fresh warm bread and butter! Dip away! Definitely recommend it.
I had the chicken dish topped with hollandaise and my boyfriend had the bbq shrimp. I was sopping up all that bbq gravy with bread. It was addictive!
For desert we asked if they could make a Coke float, and they delivered! It was a lovely dining experience I hope to repeat soon!
Shirley Heath
Service was great. Sat at the bar and Brian took great care of us.
Jerry Copeland
Mr. B's is and will always be a restaurant I will visit when I come to New Orleans, but this last time we went the managers and hostess displayed not the typical hospitality that I have come to associate Mr. B's and other Brennan establishments. To justify 3 stars let me tell you story. This best Frida my party size had changed from 10 to 11 people after one in our party was forced to stay an extra day. So in finding this out I thought I would call the restaurant and ask if they could accommodate an extra person in our group. The receptionist was nice enough to say she needed to check with the manager, but with the phone still on when she asked the manager, his comment quickly and flatly "tell him no". I felt like there wasn't the time given to even think of a resolution, so when the receptionist came back on the phone, I asked "Do you think we could just pull up an extra chair or have a couple of us at the bar? She relayed the message again to the manager, who again answered "no" and with the added comment "if he wants to cancel. Tell him to cancel and we will get some else at those tables".
I guess my only comment to this is that I never get so big and so busy that I forget how to try to say yes and figure out resolutions instead of just blurting out "no" whenever a situation arises. And being sure to put a patron on hold so a person won't hear how the manager may be handling a situation.
Kristi Simmons
Loved the ambiance, food and drinks were great and the staff was personable and friendly. We sat at the bar and had bbq shrimp and pork chops. We will definitely be back.
Millicent Levy-McCarthy
Doesn't get much more authentic than drinking Bellinis at the bar while an old blind Black man fronts a jazz trio for my brunch entertainment. BBQ shrimp were delicious.
Jen Rafuse
Fantastic meal!! Georgio and Alton took great care of us. Split the fried oysters (and found a pearl! Luckily it didn't break my tooth!), they were melt in your mouth, buttery fantasticness. We each got the barbecued shrimp, and split the bread pudding and pecan pie desserts. So very good. Worth every penny!!
M J
BBQ Shrimp was delicious but messy.
Paco Palacio
One of those places you just have to try when visiting Nola. I decided to try it out after some locals said they have the best gumbo in town and they werent lying! Amazing creolle menu with many favorites along with some interesting dishes. Try to get seating at the bar for your meal. The service is impecable.
Chistine Whaley
The food and service is great! Everything we had was delicious. Be sure to leave room for dessert!
Jessica Irwin
Outstanding. Best grits I’ve ever had, incredible shrimp, friendly and attentive staff - had an all around excellent time.
Paul Le
You can but don't bother with any dishes bit the barbeche shrimp and shrimp and grits. Both ice cream drinks are delicious as well.
Linda Weeks
Everything was fantastic went there for our anniversary the staff was amazing
Antonio Carbone
Mr. B's is a great spot for lunch in the quarter. The dining room is lively and the menu is full of New Orleans classics
Shelby Arcay
I would have to say this is my favourite restaurant ever. The bbq shrimp blew my mind and there seafood gumbo is soo good. The Gumbo was my second favourite in all of Nola that I tried and I ate everywhere. On top of the exceptional food the service is top notch. All the waiters I had were very nice and professional, I even got a free desert. Thank you Mr. B's, I can't wait to return. So good I came back for the bbq shrimp before I left
Michelle Papajohn
BBQ shrimp was amazing. Great table in the corner. Loved our visit to NOLA.
Joi Mac
It was a bit busy so the service was very slow. Filled up on fresh French bread while we waited. The drinks we decent. I had the shrimp and pasta which was a bit bland. I'd go again because the others in my party seemed to enjoy their food.
Morgan Smith
Best scallops I've ever had! The service was awesome as well. Very attentive staff
Jia Chen
If you don't have reservation during dinner time, you are guaranteed to wait for at least an hour. Plus they close fairly early at night, around 9pm. But if for once you can afford waiting that long, do visit and have BBQ shrimp. The sauce is so intense so bright so out of wordly delicious that it shine through the entire meal you were having that night. Therefore, don't under judge the other dishes, they were also good, just couldn't be compared with the shrimp. I didn't particularly like the pecan pie, too sweet and too big and filling. Should have something light. The dining environment is great and waiters wears bow tie. But it's ok for you to wear just comfortable clothes.
Alex LaMarche
Outstanding. One of the best dining experiences I've had. The honey ginger pork chop was absolutely incredible. We ordered an appetizer of garlic truffle fries as well and they were also delicious. I just wish I saved room for more, because the portion sizes were so generous that we couldn't finish it all.
Rob G
Would give more stars if I could. We went for the brandy milk punch and stayed for dinner. I had the honey glazed pork chop that was absolutely out of this world. Despite the HUGE crowds on the night before the CFP championship, we got great service and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Cristie Culver
It was so delicious. We had gumbo yaya appetizer had lots of flavor.
Tiffany Ashby
Great service and Great food! Jeremy and JC were fantastic! They were very hospitable and made our experience wonderful!
Missy Fraser
Excellent wait staff and their food and wine were spot on. My pork chop was cooked to perfection. They don't have a big menu, so I advise you to look at their online menu before coming here to make sure you would enjoy the food. Even our picky eaters liked it. Highly recommended!
M St. Julien
Some of the best gumbo in the city and the BBQ shrimp is outstanding. Mr. B's is a gimme whenever I'm in town.

The food could not have been more delicious! It was a fun experience with our waiter Doug. The band for the jazz brunch was top notch!
Enrique San Miguel
We rarely ask for chefs to come out and congratulate/chat with them after dinner, but this time we had to. Even for the high standards of New Orleans cuisine this was remarkable. I won't get into how delicious food and service was. Just try it for yourself next time you visit the Big Easy. Even the large table of drunken college kids next to us did not spoil the experience although we would have appreciated if management had done something about it. Anyway it is New Orleans chill atmosphere at its best!!
Sarah Windholz
My family and I have visited New Orleans annually for fifteen years. Mr. B's BBQ Shrimp is always on our list and is always fabulous! Today we stopped by for lunch with our 3 year old and had the most memorable seating experience (of all things) with Elizabeth. Elizabeth could tell our toddler was tired and she selected a half booth half chair set up for our little even when the table was a little big for our party. While that may sound like a small gesture it absolutely was extremely thoughtful and set up our group for a relaxing and enjoyable meal that would have not occurred if we had been sat at a four top. Thank you Elizabeth - you absolutely made our family feel well taken care of and your thoughtful approach did not go unnoticed or unappreciated!! Mr. B's continues to be the BEST!!
Terry Bader
We celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary at Mr. B's and both service and food was exceptional. We always make Mr B's our stop when in New Orleans. This was our 15 visit over the years it has always been very consistent. I had their Shrimp and Grits which was exceptional and one of the best I have ever had, my wife had their Fettuccine Jambalaya she loved it as well the drinks we had where also excellent as well. We definitely will return when New Orleans on our next visit.
Michael Erin Strong
Excellent crabcake that actually contains crab. Although you only get one, it's fabulous and filling. The pear cosmo was also delicious, and it tasted fresh and light.
Bennie Adams
Unexpectedly wondering. The pear cosmopolitan is excellent!
Must have the barbecue shrimp and crab cakes.
Looking forward to returning to New Orleans. Mr B's will be the 1st stop.
Erik Carr
Great food! The shrimp was worth every penny.
Nicolas Souza
Great food and service. I had a salad and steak. We didn't have reservations but they were able to accommodate us quickly.
Lisa R
Delicious. Every person in our party had a great meal. This is rare IME to have great service and a great meal for Every person in a party at seven. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was classic southern New Orleans service. Two people eat without drinks for $55 plus tip.
Weichao Mao
The service here is amazing. Eric was our server and we had such a good time here :) The barbecue shrimp was sooo good:)
Sarah Palmateer
A must when you're visiting New Orleans! We dined here twice and the food is amazing!
Heaven Field
Celebrated my husband’s bday for dinner. Our waiter Brett was nice and when we got there they had a cute ballon on the table. Ambiance is nice. I had the jambalaya pasta which was lacking in flavor i tasted my husband’s ravioli and same thing. He said it was fine but it’s as if no seasoning was added. The egg rolls were good but that’s about it. I was so disappointed considering the reviews
K T.
Mr B's was recommended by the hotel and it did not disappoint. The food was wonderful as well as the service. The pecan pie was different more like a pudding center and not as sweet as traditional pecan pie but still very good. We will definitely return on our next trip. The atmosphere seems more dressy casual but we had jeans on and we were fine.
Ryan Coryell
Best crab cakes in the quarter. Service is excellent, food is delicious and well portioned. The bacon wrapped shrimp and grits is wonderful. I recommend reservations but you can wait for small parties.
Joe Chlebanowski
The barbecue shrimp. YES. The pasta jambalaya was delicious but I wish I had gotten the shrimp 😁
Richard Vinson
First time to visit in over a decade and happy to report that it’s still great. The service and barbecue shrimp are terrific. For those with long-term concerns over wearing your shirts in public again after the barbecue shrimp I highly recommend the bib.
Chris Long
The BBQ Shrimp were almost as good as the service! If you don’t get Clarencia you didn’t get the service you deserve! My this place is great!!
Nina Pham
Jazz brunch is casual, with a lot of food options. The jazz trio moves around the restaurant and plays a few songs each time.

When I'm in New Orleans, Mr. B's Bistro is a restaurant I always try to hit for two menu items: the Barbecued Shrimp and the Gumbo Ya-Ya. I can't speak to anything else on the menu, but those two dishes are among the best that any French Quarter restaurant in New Orleans has to offer.
The Barbecued Shrimp are "peel your own" and served "heads-on" swimming in a buttery sauce that is heavy on Worcestershire sauce and black pepper. Three pieces of toasted French bread are served with the shrimp to help mop up the sauce. Be forewarned: the peeling is an extremely messy and involved process that requires a bib. However, there is significant reward for the work you will do. I've tried several times to make this dish at home using the recipe on Mr. B.'s web page, but I can't even come close to replicating this. Nor can any other restaurant in New Orleans who have served me "knock offs" of Mr. B's signature dish.
The Gumbo Ya Ya is about the darkest gumbo imaginable. It is a chicken and andouille gumbo with a country-style "almost-burnt" roux. Gumbo Ya Ya is very spicy (even for gumbo). Nearly every restaurant in New Orleans has decent gumbo, but I've yet to find a chicken/andouille gumbo that I like as much as Gumbo Ya Ya.
My only complaint about Mr. B's is that it is a bit cramped, as many restaurants are in the French Quarter. I find it difficult to get to the restrooms or bar area due to the density of tables and chairs. Better to sit at the bar than tables for lunch, where they offer their dirt-cheap Bloody Marys at during lunch time on weekdays.
Christine Whaley
If you want Fine Dining, this is the place to go. The service and food is the best in the city! Check it out and if you're lucky you'll get Stephen for your server.
Jessica Reyna
Outstanding service. Never felt rushed, food came out quickly and served at my course pace. Menu is not extensive, but full of variety, mostly with fish. French bread is legit. I cannot fathom how this is rated $$$. Prices are $$ tops, but you can eat here for under $10/plate. Had the Gumbo YaYa, Luncheon Salad and Bread Pudding without the sauce and it was perfect. Great pudding doesn't need to hide under boozy cream sauce. Gumbo is big enough to be an entree. Salad was fantastic.
Dylan DeFranco
Absolutely great service and food. the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits are to die for.
i House
A classic elegant twist on Steak and Eggs. Filet mignon with eggs and potatoes was very good!
This place is tucked away outside of the French Quarter. There is a portable playing Jazz band singing New Orleans remix to popular songs from the 70s.
The Moyel
Good service. Love the old timey feel of the place, but down to what you're looking for... the food. Started off with the duck confit egg rolls. Those were awesome!!!! 5 stars. The ya ya gumbo was pretty good, but I wouldn't order it again. The shrimp and grits were pretty dang good. Super creamy grits. The pecan pie was pretty dang good as well. Is it the best meal I've had, no. But it is definitely a solid choice!
Jessica Wilder
What an awesome experience! Service was amazing and the BBQ shrimp was beyond!!! We made an absolute mess and had so much fun peeling and eating the delicious shrimp! Totally recommend!
Nelson Bray
We had such an amazing experience. First of all our waitress Heather was stellar! She greeted us with a smile and endured our barrage of questions about New Orleans. She was attentive and adorable and the food. Oh God, the food! We had the pork chops and the shrimp and grits, bother were equally amazing! Highly recommend!
Paul Miller
Favorite spot in NO. sauces and roux's have amazing depth of flavor. Barbecue Shrimp is a must have, as is the seafood gumbo.
Michelle German
Great food, Good Service. Everything about New Orleans cuisine is available on the menu.
Stian Laursen Skoglund
This was our best dinner after visiting several states and diners. We had the Wood fried fish and it was amazing! A big thank you to the kitchen and the friendly staff! We will be back!!
Christine Saephan
Food was great, French bread/dinner roll was pretty tough. Other than that the service was excellent and so was my pasta
Sheri Alexander
First time here & wow! Everything was delicious. Crab cake appetizer melted in your mouth. I had Bacon-wrapped Shrimp & Grits. Shrimp was flavorful & tender. Grits spot on & cheesy. My son had the lamb chops (his 1st try with lamb) and he said they were fantastic. Not a spec of meat left on those bones. Barbeque Shrimp was spicy, buttery, yumminess. Fresh bread dipped the sauce is always the best. For dessert, bread pudding. Creamy, smooth & perfect. Highly recommend & can't wait to come back. Terrence, our waiter was perfect too.
David Baker
I'm a sucker for good desserts, the night I went they featured a cherry sherbet. This was one of the best desserts I've eaten. I was pretty hungry so I watched another person taste theirs and they responded the same way I did. Nice work folks.
Robert Morrow
Greeted and seated 1/2 hour ahead of reservation. Only hit, is cup of gumbo was warm and too much rice. Crawfish ravioli super. Other 4 entrees were great. Dessert appreciated by all .
astrid ferrera
Very nice place. The food and drinks were amazing. The crab cakes are to die for. The front desk ladies are a bit rude but other than that, it was a nice experience.
Jennifer St. John
Amazing food, every bite was a flavorful explosion on my taste buds, despite my burnt tongue from a coffee earlier that morning.
Derek Beard
I came here for my last night in New Orleans with my friends. I got the filet with truffle butter and it came with spinach and potatoes. So simple but so amazing. The ambience is really nice and the staff provided great service. I will go back the next time I’m in New Orleans.
Mike B
Good food, bacon wrapped shrimp and grits, what could go wrong. The service was slow but it was really busy so, i would say, they handled it fairly well. Overall, i would recommend it.
J Pinne
Delicious food and really attentive service. Loved this place.
Kirsten Schwehm
Dinner here was excellent! They put a bib on you for the bbq shrimp and it's a good thing - messy but delicious. The shrimp were huge and cooked perfectly, and we sopped up every drop of the sauce with the crispy crusted bread! My fish was BEAUTIFUL, and the service was outstanding. We asked for a received an excellent wine recommendation for a petit syrah I had never tried. The bread pudding was quite good, but the pevlcan pie aka mode was outstanding... I would go back again and again.
Chris Alex
Not normally a pork chop guy but the server recommended it and it was really good. Good food, good service, menu is a bit limited though.
Marcy Rogers
This place was amazing. Try the BBQ Shrimp, hands down one of the best meals we have had in NOLA.
Santiago Giraldo Anduaga
I wanted to leave a bad review because this place has ruined every other shrimp and grits for me. Midblowingly delicious.
Dejim Juang
Get Mr. B's Barbequed Shrimp, the signature dish, which lives up to the hype. Huge Gulf shrimp in an amazing buttery sauce. Don't forget to ask for extra bread!
Lisa McNabb
Mr. B's has a very cozy atmosphere where we were able to enjoy our conversations with ease. We were so hungry I forgot to take a picture before we dove in. Highly recommend the Crab Cakes and the Pecan Pie.
Chris Fellure
Wow, the Gumbo Ya Ya is Yes Yes!!! Also the crab cake is delicious, and the cocktails are on point!
Lotus Kaye
Such wonderful food! It's a very nice restaurant and the staff were wonderful. I recommend getting the gumbo!
Ryan Chapman
Cannot go wrong with Mr. B's BBQ Shrimp. The sauce should be offered by itself with a whole loaf of bread. The dessert was also good, the lemon pie (don't recall proper name) is a 'twist' on Key Lime Pie, only creamier tasting. (Photo taken after eating all the shrimp -- while washing my hands I saw this book cover which is representative of Mr. B's BBQ Shrimp.)
Troy Doerner
A surprising find as my partner and I stumbled into this restaurant on the search for an early dinner.
The service from Luke was great, he was attentive and very friendly with suggestions on the menu. The food was great and the atmosphere was more than enjoyable for the meal. Would reccomend!
Robert Mingee
This is our favorite place to eat in New Orleans, and we hit it every trip. The food is fantastic, and the service impeccable. It's not cheap, but in this case, you get what you pay for. The shrimp and grits is phenomanal, as are the fried oyster appetizer.
Connor Martin
Atmosphere was wonderful, bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. Steaks were good, could have used maybe a bit more salt and the outside was a little overcooked but still excellent. Potatoes were perfection.
T N
BBQ shrimp is a must-try ... don't let the name scare you off, it's not BBQ like you'd expect. Be prepared to soak up the sauce with the excellent baguette. Friendly and attentive service. Great for business dinners ...
Adam S
I can’t think of a more reliably great place in the quarter for lunch than Mr. B’s. The food is always amazing and the martinis flowing are a nice way to ease into the afternoon. While their whole menu has never produced a miss, their shrimp and grits are the best I’ve ever had and their burger is a masterpiece. Ken has been my server the last couple times and he is always incredibly pleasant and attentive, but so are the other servers I’ve had previously. It’s gotten to the point where when I go for lunch my legs go on auto pilot to Mr. B’s. Don’t sleep on those desserts either, especially their Mardi Gras Cheesecake if the timing is right, but if it’s not the pecan pie is the best. Enjoy your meal here.
Jeff Young
I never write reviews, but I needed to share my experience. I came in ordered a drink from Larry the bartender, and he could tell I didn’t know what I was ordering. He asked, “Do you like sweet drinks?” “Not really, I responded,” and he’s told me he’d make something I’d like. Not thinking much about it, I gave him the go ahead, and he made me something that was fantastic. Then I ordered lunch, which was fantastic (gumbo, fried oysters, and the fish). For dessert, I ordered the peach mint julep and, once again, he said, “Let me get you a taste first.” Sure, I responded and it wasn’t to my liking and got the pecan pie (once again, decadent, delicious, and this is coming from a Texan, we know our pecan pie). I can’t speak enough about the service here. It’s from another age, and makes you feel like a king. Thank you Larry and all y’all at Mr. B’s.
Hailey
Amazing food and such friendly staff, definitely recommend!
Nigel Dias
Good food, although the service was a bit lacking. A few of the dishes were served a bit cold.
Keith Kundahl
gr8 service
wonderful shrimp and grits
Above average sausage gumbo
You have to order creamy potatoes
Grilled fish was excellent
Head a d shoulders better than Chophouse
we were a party of 7
Dino T
The Seafood Gumbo was more like a bowl of bland soup with a few grains of rice (it looks like a lot in the image), tiny shrimp, very few oysters and maybe 3 pieces of okra. It was quite disappointing. The bread was hot, fresh, and very light. I would probably try most other places before coming back.
First Coast Detail
Pork belly, fried oysters, barbecue shrimp and fettuccine jambalaya, Mr. B's iced coffee and pecan pie. Absolutely the best restaurant I have EVER been thrown out of (private joke between Brian the bartender and me). Go Saints!
Food was amazing. Service was spectacular!
Andrew McDermott
Recommended by a friend, Mr. B’s Bistro is a place I think you should try if you have time while in New Orleans. It was a busy restaurant, so as a party of one, I sat at the bar. The bartenders were welcoming and very receptive to me throughout the meal. I tried the BBQ Shrimp, and as you can see in the picture, that’s what I got - I was surprised to see full size shrimp. Anyways, it was $$, but I still recommend it if you have time while in town.
Don H
Service is superb. Food is delicious. Definitely try the braised rabbit and barbecued shrimp
Daikon 1953
The iceberg salad might be the best version of a wedge salad, or any salad, that I’ve been served in a restaurant. The BBQ shrimp were good with qualifications. The sauce is outstanding and the bread divine. The shrimp were large but tasteless bordering on unpleasant. That’s a lot of white muscle to chew if it doesn’t taste good. We left some in our bowls, electing to eat the bread and sauce instead. Try smaller tastier shrimp.
Mr. B’s has relaxed its “upscale casual” dress code, and a couple seated next to us for dinner wore tee shirts out and ripped jeans. If part of what you pay for at Mr. B’s is ambiance, then seat these people together in a corner, and cut the hype about upscale dressing.
Haneen Khreis
Ambiance is extended nice, service is great and I really enjoyed the food. We shared the jumbo lump crab cakes as appetizers and the spinach and strawberry salad. For my main, I got the Mr. B's BBQ shrimps and they really were so good (this is their signature dish). Finally for my dessert, I had the white chocolate brownie. The food was excellent and the portions filling.
Mitch R.
Great atmosphere and service. Try the pork belly and spinach. Wear a collared shirt.
Latajah
Food was full of flavor, the waiter was nice and attentive, and it was close to all the action near bourbon street!!
kelle thorsen
It was a great classic New Orleans brunch. The music trio was wonderful.
Katerina Coops
A wonderful experience. Great food (we had gazpacho, shrimp and Cesar salad), excellent service, beautiful room.
becky harris
This was an amazing resturant. The service was great, the food was great, and the pecan pie was the best thing about New Orleans. I highly recommend!
Robert M
The services is absolutely!!!!!! 5* period end of story! The food not so much for the price. Bill was 110$ and when I have a bill like that I want great food not just ok. The pork chop I had was awesome in flavor!!!... but dry because it was over cooked. The gumbo, and I absolutely love, love a dark roux gumbo, but ours carried that burnt taste which made the gumbo very bitter. My wife’s shrimp was way over cooked and chewy. The duck spring rolls were absolutely amazing!!!!! The highlight of the food was those spring rolls. But all and all the food all together wasn’t worth the price. The service is the best service I’ve had in the French quarter! But I’d prefer less service and better food for a $140 (tip included) meal. I’d pay $200+ if the food was as good as the service.
Pam Yocham
Me and two of my friends stopped in on a Saturday night without reservations. We were seated within 40 minutes. The food was delicious. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits. We all shared the pecan pie and blueberry cobbler.. delicious. Definitely would recommend.
Chris Drake
Fantastic food, a timeless ambience, and true professional staff - it is inspiring to see people at the top of their craft.
doug wille
Went for lunch absolutely delicious the barbecued shrimp where amazing could eat that sauce on the flip flop and it would still be good.
Sean O'Neill
The gumbo ya ya (chicken and sausage) is amazing.
Katya Gor
My sister and I came to NOLA to celebrate our birthdays and made a reservation here on a Friday night. When we were sat at the table, there was a happy birthday balloon that waited for us. Our servers Cristina and Rocco were very kind and attentive. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious! The best part is when Cristina brought out 2 birthday desserts of their bread pudding and side of ice cream all with a candle. We asked for none of this! The restaurant did it all themselves and it made us feel so special. It’s the little things that really make an experience. I will definitely be back here when I’m in NOLA again!
Christopher Romero
Amazing food. Amazing service. Brian was outstanding highly recommend

My family is from and lives in New Orleans. We had some friends in town visiting from Texas and to ring in the new year with us. We took them to the fq to see the sights and to have lunch at one of our favorite places… Mr B’s.
Unfortunately our experience was nothing like it has always been in the past 😩
Normally we get a fun, happy and usually entertaining server for our table and this time we got a lady named Karin or Karen (can’t remember spelling). Not only was she impersonal, not fun or happy.. at times she was just plain rude!
I should have said something but I didn’t want to ruin our friends lunch but they even commented how rude she was.. I told them this was truly unfortunate as we always have fun & laugh when we have been there in the past. We did notice other tables around us were having a fun experience with their servers so it’s good to know there are still some good ones there.
Food was good but the vibe because of Karen was disappointing!
Rebecca Mulholland
Walked in, with no reservations on a rainy Thursday afternoon and hung out at the bar within Brian. He made sure we tried the NOLA famous vieux carre drink and the BBQ shrimp, along with a burger. It was a perfect late afternoon lunch. We enjoyed being there in a less formal way and Brian was great to talk to. He also gifted me a sticker of his cat Larry which lives on my phone as a reminder of a our rainy afternoon lunch at Mr. b’s. We look forward to returning for dinner someday.
Chasity Woodward
Phenomenal dinner!!! Went there for my husband's birthday last night, our final night in New Orleans. Service was great, food was AMAZING, the drinks were delicious and the bread was fresh. I highly recommend the blood orange margarita and the hot buttered pecan pie for dessert.
Tony Xue
good service and quality food. fried oyster is good👍 …
Kim Robinson
I had the bbq shrimp, they give you a bib for this and some extra french bread in a paper bag. You need both. So good. My husband had the trout. Also excellent. We sat at the bar and had perfect service. They are working long hours because of being short staffed, but they are still taking great care of customers. I recommend this place.
Dicson Leung
Best BBQ shrimp and Pork chop you can find in New Orleans!
Elena Romanowski
Wow! What an excellent dining experience. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left. The service was amazing. We were taken care of by both Terrance and Devon and they both were fantastic, anticipated our needs and we’re so kind. The food was bursting with flavor. We had the gumbo and the BBQ shrimp (TO DIE FOR). Oh and the fresh and warm French bread was also delicious. We left happy and full. Definitely recommend!

Everything here was 5 star so don’t hesitate to try it! If you want the best experience, ask for J.C.! He made things 10 times better! Such a pleasant experience when you get genuine top notch genuine customer!👌🏾👌🏾THANKS J.C.!!
-From Houston by way of Tennessee and Jamison was the drink!😃
Ivo Janssen
I can't say enough good things about Mr. B's. Their BBQ shrimp is one of the finest dishes ever created by man, and their staff is incredibly friendly and attentive (thanks again, Terrance!). From brunch to dinner to cocktails to dessert, this is what great old-school dining should be, sans the usual pretentiousness and snobbery. Come dressed nicely and enjoy the atmosphere!
James Boone
Excellent upscale restaurant. Very pleased with the choice to eat here.
Jana Boykin
The food here is amazing and worth the price. Both gumbo are delicious and the BBQ shrimp is to die for. We also loved the lemon ice box pie
Farrah Powell
This restaurant was highly recommended. So we came to celebrate a birthday, but the rushed service was a disappointment. The food was good, but the star of each acclaimed dish was lacking the star ingredient. The duck spring rolls had no duck, albeit they were delicous mushroom rolls. The poached pear salad feared a similar fate, 2 slices of pear with a mountain of cranberries. We were rushed to move to the main course as our plates arrived before we even swallowed all of our apps. Pork chop was tender, but salty and the burger may have come from Wendy's. However, they honestly have better fries at wendys.
Our server graciously offered us a bread pudding to celebrate the birthday, and we were so grateful we didn't have to pay for the eggy disaster.
Danielle G
Reservations were easy to make online. We felt a little underdressed after walking all day in sneakers, but it wasn't an issue. My husband loved Mr B's Barbecue Shrimp. They put a bib on him 🤣 The shrimp are HUGE and smothered in butter sauce. I had the Wood Grilled Fish. Everything was delicious. Nice setting, friendly staff.
Jonathan Peyton
Great bar, great food, good location, friendly service, reasonable pricing. If you are lucky enough, request the Ronald & Nancy Reagan table - had been dining here for years and did not know that existed until we were seated there on accident - very cool!
Sashin Aluwihare
This is the place to dine. Of course every time I go, I get the bbq shrimp.
Donette Lewis
Barbecue Shrimp is the best I have ever had in the city!
Jillene Stevenson
Food is excellent. The BBQ shrimp were the by far the best we had. Nice pour for martinis. Service was ok.
Arcadio Torres
This is THE dining experience you need to have when in N.O. Pricy but worth it.
Pole Perfect Fitness & Pilates
This is a great restaurant when everybody wants something different. It’s got a good variety. Actually a pretty large variety. Very consistent service with equally wonderfully consistent food. We eat here several times a year and have always had a wonderful experience. The staff is able to answer any question you have about the food. It’s always hot and delicious.
Marc Cohan
The food, drinks, and service were wonderful as usual. So long as BBQ shrimp with heads on menu, we will return. My one significant complaint was the staff did NOT check vaccination status at entry. Very unfortunate.
Katie Pieterse
I love Mr. B's!! They have been my sanctuary for the last two years! Whenever I could not get home, Larry and the others members of staff always made a place for me at the bar to be safe and have a fabulous meal. Their desserts are the best and I love the Mr. B's coffee. You must try it!
Ask for Larry and say that Katie Pieterse sent you...you will love your meal, drinks and the 5 star service that you will receive!
Kemp Morgan
Previous trips would be 5 stars. This is probably more on me. Everyone else (10) had a good experience. Apps were delicious, deserts looked phenomenal. They were out of lamb chops so I switch to filet medium rare. It comes out cool to the touch and near blue in the middle. That doesn't necessarily offend me, but since I had a late lunch it was easier to leave half rather than send it back.
Chris Davies
Simply amazing. Best gumbo in the city!
N Grothe
Service excellent even as we approached closing. Loved the new server Heather. We had the pecan pie and ice cream with mint leaves - what an excellent cap to the evening meal. Despite being in the tourist trap area this place delivers for the higher prices. Just excellent! Thanks Mr Bs team
Robert Annand
Great place for Cajun food in the French Quartier. Service was very helpful in making suggestions. It was a plus that they were able to accommodate us without a reservation, but reservations are recommended.
mike a
Mascarpone makes the best shrimp and grits and that’s what they do I bought their cookbook to

Wait for food was awhile but 👍
Matey Checko
We like this restaurant. We always go to the restaurant whenever we visit New Orleans. The barbecue shrimp is a hit.
Wanderlust Warrior
Oops! Sorry for the 4 stars but let me explain. We went there for Brunch and ordered our food and drinks. We had their famous specialty the BBQ Shrimp and it was PERFECT! Shrimp were more like huge prawns, fresh and sweet; the sauce was rich and bursting with flavor! Ordered more bread to "sop it up". Yummy! The staff were friendly and very professional. However, I went to use the restroom before meals and the staff already greeted my friend Happy Birthday without me. I was hoping to capture the memory in my camera; and for dessert I ordered the bread pudding but did not get it. Instead they gave us a fraction of it with a candle for my friend's birthday token dessert and got our bill. It was not busy but I guess they were rushing us to leave. Overall it was a nice. Luv the Jazz Musicians!
Seven Stars Smoke
The food and service is outstanding! The fried oysters were the best I had in NOLA. The drinks from the bar STRONG! The hostess (the male & younger female) made me feel very welcomed at my first stop to eat in NOLA!!! They paired me with a stranger so I wouldn’t eat ALONE!!! Truly NOLA true carnival spirit!
Kyle M
This was the PERFECT Christmas Eve lunch! It was so laid back and made us all forget about the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Every dish we tried was perfect, but the cheese plate stole the show. And the markup on the wine and champagne was actually minimally reasonable. The service was comfortable, precise, and non-intrusive. 5 stars Mr. B's... Bravo!!!
Barbara Selman
Wonderful service! Food was great, drinks are great!
George Broadbent
Great service and wonderful food. Definitely worth a return visit
Pat Perk
Amazing amazing brunch! My husband and I spent an anniversary weekend in NOLA and this was our second day food stop. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Food, service and the jazz was fabulous. This will be a definite stop the next time we stroll through NOLA.
Ashley Wysper
The waitstaff was good and very attentive. Our glasses never even got half way. We ordered a few starters and shared the bbq shrimp. It was awesome! The cleanest shrimp I've ever eaten. The bread pudding I ordered could have been warmer but that is really the only "problem". The lighting is a bit dim and can make it hard to read the menus though.
Alejandra Urdaneta
A must in NOLA. This well established restaurant does live up to all its hype. We had the Duck Spring Rolls (oh-my-gawd level of deliciousness), the Crabcake (very tasty and well made), and the Mr. B’s BBQ Shrimp (hands down, the star of the night). Giorgio was our waiter and he was amazing: super nice, accomodating, and just outright made it a perfect experience.
Steve
Lively atmosphere. Was busy but didn't have to wait too long for food. Really good pork chops. Good amount of food as well.
LordGanondorf
Best restaurant I've visted so far during my visit. My mom had the oysters, and Porkchop. I had the Gumbo YaYa, and bacon wrapped shrimp, and grits. The grits were so creamy. The porkchop was flavorful and tender. The gumbo was cooked right. Every where else doesnt seem to know how to cook it properly. The roux was cooked perfectly. I wrote on my server's ticket the service and food was great.
Alex Beck
Excellent meal all around. I got the wood grilled fish and wasn’t sure which sauce I wanted so our server Rocco (who was awesome) had the kitchen give me both on the side. The fish was perfectly executed and absolutely delicious. My girlfriend got the filet and it was also executed perfectly and exquisitely delicious. Top notch 👌🏻
Varsha vivek
Amazing BBQ Shrimp! The Mushroom Ragout had a flavorful cream sauce and the garlic truffle fries were good too. Great service. Our food was brought in quick and the portion sizes were decent. We weren't able to make an online reservation for the same day and although the restaurant was packed, we were seated within 10 minutes of walking in.
Zamir Brelvi
Excellent food and service!!
Nice place for a lunch or brunch on the way to Bourbon Street
Will go back!

Food is outstanding. Service is excellent. The BBQ Shrimp are a must. Had a great Sheepshead fish special. Karen, our waiter was wonderful
Stephanie Sanchez
The staff was Amazing and so so accommodating. Every single dish was delicious. Our waitress from North Carolina was Fabulous
Scott Reynolds
Our friends booked the reservation....visiting NOLA and had never heard of them, but that was a great meal - delicious shrimp and grits! And a great Sazerac to top it off!
Shout out to Ken great server!
Shane Dowler
Incredible food and service. Michael behind the bar truly took care of us. I'd recommend the doublethink porkchop
Traveling Girl
Alton and Kendrick were OUTSTANDING! Great customer service.

My wife and have been coming to New Orleans for years. We usually have dinner one night at Commander’s Palace, decide this year to try Mr B’s.
The best decision that we made all weekend.
Food was amazing, service was 50 on a 10 scale. We have decide that Mr. B’s will be on every trip and of course we will work in Commander’s Palace along the way.
Big Thanks to the Brennan family for such Great Restaurants...

The service was exemplary from the door. We were greeted pleasantly as opposed to several restaurants visited in the same area. The food was delicious and was truly authentic. They made our experience memorable and fulfilling. Kudos to our server Alton and the his colleague who extended nothing but courtesy and humor.
Yvonne Brown
Extremely delicious dinner at reasonable prices, served by an attentive and personable staff with a minimal wait time. Started with the Mushroom Ragout (I never had anything like it and man oh man, was it a tasty appetizer!!) The entree was a superb grilled Red Fish with popcorn rice and asparagus. We finished the meal with Bread Pudding and Creme Brulee, with spiked coffee. The entire dining experience was fantastic!! I'll definitely return to this gem!

Food was top! Sunday brunch atmosphere was lively and fun. Service could have been a little more friendly but food more than made up for it. BBQ shrimp and fried oysters were delicious as was the shrimp and grits. what a great time!
Leola
The fried oysters are divine and the wood grilled fish is seasoned very well. A classic meal and ambiance takes you back in time. The gumbo was too smoky for my taste but the other dishes made up for it. Service is very kind and they gave us balloons for my fiancé’s birthday.
Sean Greenhow
Excellent food and service. Ken, Margaret and Ashley made a thorough service team. They had fine food suggestions, I enjoyed the Gumbo Ya Ya, the glazed pork chop, and pecan pie dessert. The restaurant has a nice decor, it's well designed. The biggest difference to other restaurants is the way the staff works as a team, taking pride in what they do, supporting each other as they focused on customers. Wish there was a Mr B's in Boston.
Rui Wang
Recommend! Actual wait time is shorter than what you expected.
M. Thomas
Food is very good, little pricey but nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
Russ Sonenclar
Best food in NOLA. Ask for Dwayne to take care of your table!
Linsey Palazzi
The food was good, but not the best we had in New Orleans. I think maybe both the atmosphere and price were just too fancy for my taste. I don’t think I’d go back in favor of places we enjoyed a lot more.
Giles Setzler
We left VERY disappointed...not in the food. It was great. And never questioned from the start. But with a place of this much stature and reputation, one would think the service would be better. TIP: demand main-room seating. We were placed in the back room where it was loud and service was all over the place if not non-existent. Appetizers were never delivered. The back room is simply not pleasing. Not sure why it’s even there in the first place. Hoped to have been seated in the main dining area which has a wonderful atmosphere. Anyway, service was not good. Rated 3 stars because my barbeque shrimp was top-notch. Gotta get that service in place, Mr. B’s, or do away with that back room. I want to give you another shot. Don’t know if I will, though. Very disappointing.

I love, love, loved the food here!! It literally satisfied every craving I was having. And the fresh French bread they serve you is sooo good! I can't wait to visit again.
The crawfish sauce atop the fried green tomatoes was something like no other, so tasty!! The "served cold" twist on classic corn and crab bisque ended up being really nice.
I had BBQ shrimp for my first entree, and omg!! The flavours were so good, I was transported to another dimension 😅. Lastly, I had the fried soft shell crab, which was so delicious, too.

Great Thanksgiving Day Menu.
Great service. And great atmosphere.
Mary Skocz
Good food! Good drinks! BBQ Shrimp to die for. Gumbo is wonderful
Alyssa Carter
We had a terrific meal at Mr. B's; first time for my wife who raved about her filet and salad. I had the BBQ shrimp and it was awesome! Excellent service and atmosphere and felt very safe. Only downside is the number of groups of people blocking the sidewalks who are not wearing mask, distancing, or will move out of your way when you are walking. The Quarter is just getting worse for this and I hate to see it. Will not stay in that part of town ever again due to these groups and the homeless.
Perla Kohler
Very friendly vibe and probably the best pecan pie you've ever had.
FineThingsFermented
Very nice down tempo atmosphere. Upper class decor and a very nice drink selection.
We started with the scallops that were cooked very well (two of them). Nice combination of crispy outer crush and moist and delicious on the inside.
For our entreé we had the BBQ shrimp and they are, in my opinion A MUST. My god the soup base is to die for and the shrimp were incredibly flavorful. Don't be shy, you need to remove the meat from the shell....but it's worth it!
Yuval David
This is one of the best restaurants in New Orleans. Why? The food is great and brings locals back as regulars, and it delights visitors who come here for the first time.
What makes the experience even better is the outstanding chef, management, and waiters. They all make you feel welcome into the warm and inviting atmosphere.
So, yes, this tasty and fun experience makes me highly recommend this restaurant and leaves me looking forward to my next visit here.
Yum.

We did driving down to New Orleans for 7hrs and go to Mr.B for good first meal, I always order the bbq shrimp here, but very disappointed with quality of shrimp we had this time, and service wasn’t good also, not good as before!
Katlynn Sacco
So good! And our server was phenomenal. Don't be intimidated by the BBQ shrimp, they're worth it!
Dean Schall
Service impeccable. Food was incredible.
Ohad Orpaz
Came back the second time. Come and eat!
The sea food gumbo, duck rolls, buster crab & fried oysters are AMAZING!
Sean Harris
The service was better than the food. All of the items were flavorful, but none of them were really hot. Items came out quickly and our waiter Terrance was friendly and made great suggestions. The garlic fries were amazing, but the rest of it was lukewarm at best. Went there because it's been a classic New Orleans restaurant for as long as I can remember, but for the price...may be better suited for drinks and appetizers.

Everything here is excellent. Pork chops are super thick. The barbecue shrimp is spicy. The bread pudding is made by angels. You really can't go wrong with any Brennan restaurant in NOLA. Then hop over to the Carousel Bar in the Hotel Monteleone. The bar actually spins. Mr. B's is a standout in a city made for foodies. Delicious!
Brian Gilgren
The burger and the BBQ shrimp were amazing plus $1.50 martinis.... I will be back again soon.
Natalie Ladd
Everything was delicious! From the salads (wedge and house), to the entrees (shrimp & grits, filet with truffle sauce), to the dessert (pecan pie & coffee), the food was phenomenal! The service, not quite as good. The quality of the food outweighed the service, hence the 5 stars. We booked on Open Table a few days in advance and walked right in to our table. Worth a trip if you are in New Orleans.
Bryce Johnson
The combination of food quality, service, and pricing has made this one of the best dining experiences of my life.
We enjoyed the duck spring rolls first which were fantastic. My entree was the Jumbalaya Pasta which is the best "New Orleans" dish I've ever had, period. The buttery sauce for the noodles and meat is amazing.
However, our favorite part of the meal was the desert, our compliments to the chef. My favorite pie is pecan pie and let's just say I wasn't disappointed...
Our waiter Stephen was very kind and provided exemplary service with excellent conversation, knowledge, and attentiveness which made us feel very welcome.
Best place I've ever eaten at in New Orleans and one of the best places I've eaten at, ever. This will become a staple of our trips to this great city.
Laurie Newman
Their food is amazing. One of the best margaritas I've ever had, very fresh and addictive. Their BBQ shrimp is great, but you'd better like butter! The staff is impeccable and professional. Only downfalls are that the bathrooms are down these beautiful, but tricky, stairs, and the waiting area isn't very large. Maybe 20 people can wait inside for a table. MAKE RESERVATIONS!! The atmosphere is cozy and romantic, with a nice view...but I wouldn't say it's the best for kids to attend..more of an adult restaurant.
Elisa Vazquez Roper
They were crowded and we didn’t have reservations but unlike the snooty Brennan’s in our hotel (Astor - plus we had eaten there the evening before!), they found a table for us. What a gem! Nice wine list with a delicious Matanzas Sauvignon Blanc by the glass. We split the burger and fries which was plenty for two. We could have made a meal out of the scrumptious bread and butter. The bread was flaky and light and came in a foil packet. We’ll be back to this place!
Chereka Edwards
Food was too tasteless for the price. Waiter suggested a medium well burger for my husband and brother in law and they came out well done and burnt. My shrimp were overcooked in the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits. There was also a gnat in my husband's glass of Remy and nothing was taken off the bill. The waiter took care of it expeditiously, but there should have been money taken off the bill. It was my husband's birthday dinner and it ended up being unsatisfactory!
Matthew Levy
Used to be that a typical experience was 5-star worthy with excellent, attentive service and great food. Before my last visit, I'd have said that Mr. B's had the best traditional Sunday jazz brunch in the city (possibly tied with Commander's). Last visit was dissappointing with mediocre, slow service and a slow kitchen while the restaurant was only 75% capacity. Hopefully this is not a new trend. Plan to give it one more try before writing it off for good.
EDIT: Returned this past weekend with a smaller party (just 2 of us) to give them another chance, 7 months after my last review. Unfortunately, I had a similar experience. Service was spotty, and food was only mediocre. The "chicken and waffles" that has been added to the brunch menu consistent of an ordinary piece of fried boneless thigh on top of 2 small squares of chewy, soggy, cold waffles. Not terrible or inedible, just not very good. The classic dishes, such as Gumbo Ya Ya, are still as good as ever, though.
Andrea Decker
We were seated immediately. The staff was awesome and the food was amazing! The cheese grits deserve to be in their own food group 😋 …
Nick Baker
Gumbo was tasty but I think the rue was slightly burnt in the batch I had. Great service at the bar and fairly priced.
Thomas Bath
Everything was delicious, as usual. Service was top notch. For Covid precaustions, the tables were separated and our server and kitchen staff wore masks. The server also kept his distance unless placing dishes and drinks. One of the few places where we were comfortable during these times. We will go back. My wife had BBQ Shrimp and loved it. My son had Gumbo ya ya and again loved it. Sad that they weren't as busy as normal. Glad they are still open. Many aren't.

One of the best dining experiences in my life. The service was beyond amazing. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, but the true star was Mr. Otis who was a 2nd waiter to us. We ordered the BBQ shrimp and the care he showed us after eating the shrimp was phenomenal. He cleansed our hands with lemon juice and a warm towel so our hands wouldnt hold the aroma of our amazing dinner. He checked on us frequently and took extreme pride in his work. People like that are hard to come by so enjoy the experience like we did!
Kenneth Warner
It's hard to find a bad meal in New Orleans but the food here was spectacular. The bacon wrapped shrimp and grits were so delicious I'm still thinking about them a week later. Fried oysters were also memorable. Additionally the service was excellent. Overall very nice meal. 5 stars.
Kevin C
Came here for a Sunday brunch. Live Jazz band is a plus.
BBQ shrimp is good.
Bread is awesome! Very crunchy outside.
Breakfast bowl is not my thing.
Very nice decor and pretty quiet. Good for couples.
Overall good experience.
Michael Becker
We had our anniversary dinner at Mr B's and it was amazing! My wife had a perfectly cooked filet. I had the famous BBQ shrimp and it did not disappoint! It's a beautiful setting with very attentive staff. It was a perfect way to celebrate.
Lisa Kavjian
The BBQ shrimp is unreal. It is so good and I recommend it to everyone who says they are going to NOLA! The flavor is just perfect. They give you bread to stop up the yummy brothy goodness. Do not miss this dish! We also got dessert, which was just as good. Highly recommend!!
Emanuel Stiles
For dinner we had pre-fixed menu and I decided on the seafood gumbo to start, bacon wrapped shrimp for dinner and pecan pie for desert. The gumbo was out of bounds delicious and during the stay had gumbo in 3 different spots and by far this was the best one. The okra was cooked so perfect and had a great balance of seafood. Next up was the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits. If I could make this a food group I would. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and just the right amount of crisp in the bacon. The bonus was the grits and the combination eating all together was simply delicious. To wrap it up I had the pecan pie which not that big of a desert person but this with the homemade ice cream was really good. I had such a great experience here and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting or local...
JD Roy
Excellent food and service. The staff is attentive and engaging. The location is conveniently located to many other interesting locations. Reservations are recommended as well.
Jim Martin
Just been here once, but it was a memorable lunch. Had both the coconut and barbecue shrimp and each was delicious. The gumbo is deep and rich and made well. What really made an impression on me outside of the great food, was the service. When I couldn’t decide between bread pudding or the hot buttered pecan pie (noting that I adore bread pudding and like to get it everywhere I go in New Orleans), my waitress steered me toward the pie, but then brought out a complimentary sample sized ramekin of the bread pudding so that I could give it a try. Needless to say, I was quite happy and will make Mr. B’s a permanent addition to my list of favorites restaurants in the Quarter.
Timothy Foley
Visited this place twice during my most recent trip to New Orleans. The recommendation came via our hotel concierge. I had the BBQ Shrimp the first night and it was fantastic. They're messy, but they bib you up so you can chow down. And they're certainly worth the trouble. It was so good that I came back for lunch the next day and got the Catch of the Day. It was a grilled trout and it was awesome, too! I'd definitely recommend Mr. B's if you're visiting the French Quarter.
Thomas Schmidt
Great staff/service. Food was excellent. I had the royal salad and the grilled drum.
Carolyn Maffett
Excellent service, nice atmosphere for a visit to the French Quarter for dinner. Bread was excellent, salads were good, very disappointed in the seafood gumbo. The gumbo was nothing like we expected. Seafood was sparse, it did not seem to be fresh seafood. I had no vegetables and my husband had two pieces of okra. The majority of gumbo was broth, which was watery. Very disappointing, we expected the real thing.
Liticia Fristoe
Amazing bacon wrapped barbecue shrimp and Grits. My fillet was cooked perfectly and the truffle butter on top was Amazing. Walked in without reservations and even though they were super busy we were seated immediately the service was exceptional everyone Was working very hard to take care of their customers..very efficient staff.
Andrew Herrington
Fantastic service (Shoutout to Ken and Heather), our food was delicious, drinks were good, and a great atmosphere.
Probably the best meal we've had in New Orleans so far and it was very reasonably priced for a lunch.
Zach Holly
Great service and food. The jambalaya was delicious and would be ordered again. I would definitely come back. Make reservations to make it easier on yourself.
D Puorro
Social atmosphere with a lot of families on n the weekends. Service is typically good. It can get busy. Make reservations. Barbecue shrimp was very good as was the gumbo. Great bread. Removed a star because the server took almost 15 minutes from picking up the check to returning with the receipt. We'll probably be back the next time we visit New Orleans.
Dale Mitchell
Great food and service in a relaxed atmosphere.
Jacob Durnin
Food was great. I had the BBQ shrimp and they were delicious. The bread pudding an the molten cupcake we're also very good. But the service was very slow. It took a while to get food, deserts, and the check. Besides that everything else was very nice. Also the live music was also very nice.
Kevin “KG” Gaither
Fantastic dinner. I had the barbecue shrimp and it was messy but absolutely fantastic. My wife had the best pork chop of her entire life. The kids had chicken and hamburger which was just fine by us. The ambience was great and the service was great and we would come back here again and in a moment
John D
I got the bbq shrimp and a gumbo. It was excellent. Service was great as well.
Katherine Durrer
The service was excellent and the staff work cooperatively to make sure everyone has what they need. We went for lunch and had the angel hair with shrimp and the jambalaya pasta. Both were very good (the andouille sausage and duck in the jambalaya pasta were amazing). Split the profiteroles; the chocolate sauce and the ice cream were excellent. For the level of service, atmosphere, and quality of food, reasonably priced.
Freddie Ruffner
Mr.B’s is a must visit in New Orleans. The food is so rich with flavor and love. We tried the Bbq shrimp (which is a very messy dish), gumbo, and the redfish. Michael and Dwayne we're the best waiter/back wait team. The bread was so good. Make a reservation.
Chris Bury
The food is incredible, but matched by impeccable service from Larry the barman! He made my visit excellent! This restaurant is not to be missed in New Orleans!
Greg Schenck
As expected. Terrific oysters, fresh fish and Gumbo. Superior service from Kendrick and J.C. Great martinis. Did I mention the Bistro Burger? Wow!
Rick
OK, I had a nice meal here. The staff was really great too.
Look, the restaurant is really really nice and the food was very delicious. Not trying to downplay the place at all. Just depends on if you're looking for an upmarket dining experience or if you're just looking for a taste of New Orleans.
It's just a bit pricey compared to the local restaurants in the area with similar fare. You're paying for the ambiance I suppose... still, if it's just about food for you, check out a bunch of the local places. The BBQ Shrimp are amazing all over.
By the way - tip.. New Orleans BBQ shrimp are not like BBQ ribs drenched in thick barbecue sauce. They're in more like a light amazingly rich BBQ broth. You have to try it. Also when in Rome you should try the seafood gumbo (another item that's easy to find and less expensive in the neighborhood).
Greg Johnson
The inside looks really nice. There is alot of space, so the restaurant can have alot of people. The crab cake was thick. it contained salad that had some spices. The veal was interesting. It had lump crab meat in it. Some small shell particles too. But the veal had asparagus undernath. There was some cream sauce with it. Smaller portion sizes and a higher price. But still a good meal
Todd Coleman
Loved my meal here. A classy spot one block off Bourbon St. The wait staff were very curteous and attentive. The complimentary bread is fantastic; lightly crunchy on the outside and soft inside. I had the shrimp wrapped in bacon with cheese grits, and it was hands down the best meal that I had during my three day trip to New Orleans.
Just Being Honest
The service was amazing they cater to your needs and request. The oysters were OK the jambalaya was definitely tasty and had so much flavor the desserts were really rich and delightful. It was a bit on the expensive side but it was well worth it. I would recommend this place for a sophisticated/ romantic/ special occasion purpose.
Sahar Khan
Wow.. And then again wow. Barbecue shrimp is awesome. Great service.
Shannon Pietrowicz
This was an off the charts experience. Food was magnificent and the service was amazing.
Mike Verdino
The food was unbelievable. So we'll seasoned, modern but kept with New Orleans cuisine. It was one of the best meals I have had in town and up there with my top 10 perhaps ever. Shrimp and grits, fried oysters, Brea's pudding, french 75 drink! All delicious. And the service was perfect. A bit rushed but it is a bustling Bistro, so expected.
Ramiro Cantu
Mr B's was great. Good food and better service. Only issue was booking information said blazer suggested for men and I was only one wearing a jacket. I didn't like the informal dress across the place, made it feel cheaper.
Jordan Stock
A great place for a nice meal! I highly recommend the barbecued shrimp and the hot buttered pecan pie. The service was excellent too. I felt pretty underdressed but luckily it was just lunch. It's also close to Bourbon st but far enough away so that it's quiet.
Trey Johnson
My wife went to Mr. B’s on the first night of our Honeymoon. The service was fantastic, the atmosphere was lovely and the food was some of the best we’ve ever had. The duck spring rolls were definitely our favorite, and the pecan pie was outstanding. Highly recommended if you are looking for a nice dinner in the French Quarter.
Carla Harris
Had dinner here during our first trip to New Orleans. I had the fillet and it was amazing. The whole experience was wonderful. The staff and management were over the top. They made our 35th Anniversary dinner so special. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough
Lauren von Stackelberg
This is hands down one of the best meals I have ever had. BBQ shrimp for the win! Keep the blood orange margaritas free flowing (they’re life changing!) The service is even better than the food - Patrick is a legend amongst men. Don’t miss Mr B’s when you’re in NOLA!!!!
Bea Johnson
This is not my kind of place but my boyfriend loves the Gumbo Ya-Ya A LOT. The food I've ordered, especially the burger, has been delicious and the staff very polite, possibly some of the best we've had in New Orleans. We will no doubt visit this establishment many more times.
William Lee
Not leaving NOLA without a meal at this restaurant.
Eric Roberts
A man experiences events that truly change his life only a few times: graduation, marriage, promotion...
My life changed forever when I had Mr. B's parmesan crusted red fish. I had no idea that fish could taste so great. The dish was beautifully served and every bite was as flavorful (or more) as an excellent steak. It made me forget all about the wonderful Ya Ya gumbo for which I used my bread to get every last drop only moments before. The service was phenomenal as well.
My only regret about my meal at this restaurant was that once I finished, it was gone, and I could no longer enjoy it.
Timothy Williams
This is a nice restaurant and the food is really good. My favorite was the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits which was amazing. The barbequed shrimp was just ok, but it's apparently a favorite. The bistro burger and the honey ginger glazed pork chop were both really good. The wood filled fish was just good, but not great. This place gets really crowded and the service is pretty good. It's not very kid friendly, but then again it's a higher end restaurant.
Papa George Maxson
Great food, nice atmosphere, Michael our waiter was outstanding. So was his assistant but unfortunately his name escapes me now.
