Did not at all expect the 'Upscale Italian Diner' vibe, but it was executed in a unique and unpretentious way. The portions are large, and each plate has good value. The wine selection was pretty good, and the bottles were reasonably priced for the French Quarter. My Favorite part was that each table had crayons and we could draw on the table setting. They even have cut out some of the good drawings and hung them on the wall! It was fun even for us adults.

A New Orleans staple for Italian-American cuisine located in the beautiful and quiet Lower French Quarter. Being only a block from historic Bourbon Street, Mona Lisa has served as a neighborhood staple for more than 35 years.
Like many others in the french quarter, this building has had many uses in the past. It has once served as a cigar shop and machine-works building, the current incarnation still retains many of the features of its colorful past.
This restaurant screams Italy the second you walk in! From the red and white checkered tablecloths to the red cafe curtains in the front windows, the decor definitely brings me back to past dining experiences throughout Italy. An impressive food menu paired with an extensive wine menu, equals a perfect dinner.
Starting with the unique appetizer menu, the traditional garlic cheesy bread served with the their rich house marinara was a great start. After all who, besides a vampire, doesn't LOVE a combination of garlic and cheese?? So many entrees and so little time!
Naturally I had to experience their freshly prepared lasagna, which comes smothered in just the right amount of that wonderful house marinara sauce. Naturally they add a few slices of fresh bread to ensure none of that house marinara goes to waste. Clearly an excellent choice! The rich saucy red goodness, combined with the fresh cheeses and seasoned meat really satisfies the palate.
This is a place where you take advantage of those staples of Italian cuisine when you spot them, if only I had more time for one of their cannoli's.... Oh well, maybe next time.
Cheers!

One of my favorite go to places in New Orleans. Use to go here when I lived in the city and make it a point to always visit when I'm in town. A very small local restaurant with great food and wonderful ambiance. Absolutely love everything about it. The lasagna is always amazing - I highly recommend.
Leah K
I absolutely loved this place. Came here with my boyfriend for our anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint! The place gives the vibe of a small Italian restaurant and the prices are beyond reasonable for the huge portions they serve! Everything we had was fantastic: I recommend to anyone!
Sarah Dobbins
How can you not love this place? Nothing fancy, just a laid back French Quarter gem. Food was tasty, service was great and the atmosphere is quirky. Will definitely be eating here again.
Helena Mouskouri
Everything we got (Hawaiian pizza, stuffed shells, lemon cake and tiramisu) was absolutely delicious. Great ambiance and really good service! Will definitely come back just to draw on the table again ;)
Michael Teleha
When we arrived it was packed and 6 in line to get in. Mostly local crowd (always a good sign) and fun atmosphere. All the food was great. Will be back.
Colby Gray
No reservations. Had a small wait. Quaint atmosphere. Friendly service. Food was great. I got the seafood pasta with red sauce and it was excellent.
Vanessa Troupe
Great food! Got the seafood pasta and husband got pizza. He ate his leftovers the next day and was just as good.
They were able to squeeze us in on busy new years day and stayed late for everyone.
Such a great atmosphere. Not far from bourbon but not on it, which is nice.
Our server was so nice and thoughtful!
Recommend the cheesecake also, we got it with caramel sauce to go and was great still when we got back to our hotel.
Traveling Goose
Okay but seriously!? This place is so incredible! The flavors and freshness of the food are absolutely stunning, the atmosphere is so cozy and unique, and the staff are so attentive and welcoming. It’s a treat just to be there. Whatever you do, DO NOT skip dessert! (I’m a frequent flyer so sorry for all the pictures!)

The pizza and stuffed pasta shells are awesome! Our waitress was great. Would definitely eat there again.

Great place for Italian in the French Quarter. Ate seafood all week and wanted something different. Try it, its great.
Bryan Broussard
A truly surprising discovery! Awesome Italian food! Fun, quirky decor, Awesome, friendly staff. We had caesar salad, house salad, lasagna, and tiramisu! It was so good we forgot to take pictures of everything.
AND A HUGE SURPRISE
I expected the bill to be $70 and it was half that! GO HERE EVERY CHANCE YOU GET!

On the other end of Royal St the Mona Lisa is a hidden gem. The bruschetta was unbelievably delicious. Mona Lisa Special pizza was equally tasty. Oh my gosh the lemoncello cake & the panna cotta were melt in your mouth divine. The staff and ambiance were fantastic. It was so worth the walk. We agreed we will be going back.

We got told about this place off a bar tender in the city. If you want a real authentic experience and mix with some real delightful locals then is the place. Everyone are so welcoming. We sat, drank beer and listened some of the guys stories who have lived here through generations. Also got made a wicked Hurricane cocktail from Marsha. The owners are great and they also do swamp tours here. There's NP you camp at walking distance and the local fish market is right next door with fresh catch if wanted to pick something up for your BBQ or if not Big Mike has a kitchen serving it up.
Great way to finish off our 3 month trip in the US
Natalie Orozco
Visiting from California, came here for my birthday dinner. Food was amazing I loved the cozy unique atmosphere.
Scott Edwards
This place never disappoints. It's been 3 years and it's like they only got better.
Ankur Kataria
This place has good vegetarian options.
This was my second visit, there's s always a wait time, so plan accordingly.
The service is a bit slow rest all is good.
joe Hyer
Outstanding, can’t believe we haven’t been here before. Good, affordable wines. Excellent sauces. Strong menu without being too long. Staff is friendly and overall, a great dining experience. Highly recommend.
Lindsey Elrod Campbell
This place was amazing! A special local recommended it too us. The chicken Alfredo was simply perfection. The piccata was delicious but a tad oily. Other than that a wonderful meal.
Delia
Great food, great venue and the MOST brilliant host!! We did a bit of research and found this listed. Took us about 20 mins to walk there from the business district but it was really worth it. From the minute walked in the host Pharaoh was really welcoming. We did not have to wait for a table but everyone came after did. Restaurant was jam-packed. And we we saw why once we sat down and got our food. But not before we had a good giggle at some of the Mona Lisa pictures around the restaurant including one with Pharaoh's head!!😂
ALL the food was to die for. We had stuffed mushrooms and spinach dip to start, then meatball Parmesan and the Mona Lisa special pizza. Tiramisu and Chocolate cake to round it off. We rolled out the door happy and full! The most upsetting thing for me was that I was not able to eat it all. Gutted. So we just have to come back for another trip to amazing restaurant. Also, the best value for money meal we had the whole week.
Pharaoh - it was a treat to talk about London and Dishoom but I'd give Mona Lisa stars way above what I would give them. Loved it ❤️❤️🙏🏿
Now to find me a good meatball recipe!!

Great find in the French Quarter!
We decided to do something different for us in New Orleans and found this spot. We started with the stuffed mushrooms which were quite yummy. Next we had Caesar salads and the homemade dressing was delicious. Mrs. had the Bolognese and I had the Mardi Gras Pasta (with sausage and shrimp). Both dishes were perfection and made us both want to lick our bowls clean. The service was excellent with friendly and knowledgeable staff. We had an excellent experience and will definitely return.
Joseph Connor
We've eaten there four of the five times we visited New Orleans. Only time we missed was when restaurant closed for vacation. Love the neighborhood atmosphere and the owner and the food.
Maria Morales
Absolutely love this place! They have the most amazing food and servers. It took me almost a year to discover Mona Lisa, now I eat there at least once a week. Try their baked ziti, pizza, bruschetta, veal and cannoli... its all addictive and Jersey Girl Approved!!!
Vicki H.
The long wait was worth it! Sadly the evening we were there they had run out of a few items on the menu but our dinner was beyond delicious! Wine was nicely priced by the bottle and meals were so yummy I'll be coming back again and again. Make this a destination for sure.
Malibu Welch
This lovely place has been here forever! It has ALWAYS been the epitome of greatness and exclusivity! The waitress, Raven, is the best! The chicken alfredo and pineapple pepperoni pizza was the best! I loooooove looking out the window and eating as walkers pass by and see how beautiful the place is. The ultimate #lgbt friendly place in the world! #pride2020
Michael Oilar
Great little place in the Quarter to have a great meal and a great night. 10/10, highly recommend.
Cory Peck
Cool, reasonable prices Italian spot, very family friendly. The food was delicious overall, the lasagna being most of note for this visit, also had bruschetta and cheesy bread
Sarah Pugmire
FANTASTIC restaurant. One of my favorite dining experiences in New Orleans. Unique decor, delicious food, & wonderful service. Will definitely be back if I return to New Orleans.
Geoffrey Frost
Great food at a reasonable price. Portions are good and the service was impeccable. Will definitely be back!
Aric Snyder
This place was awesome! Such a cool vibe the staff was awesome and the food was amazing. The walls are filled with hilarious Mona Lisa paintings.
Joely Nelson
Split chicken parm, (comes with salad and a cheese bread slice), and artichoke spinach dip! Pasta was cooked perfectly! Everything delicious, staff super!!
Sammie White
Very nice, food was wonderful. Employees were the best. First time there. Will go back again!

The little Italian restaurant is great! The owner has a unique friendly smiling face that mimic the smile of Mona Lisa. Service is great. Server is conversation starter who can share art history of Italy from 14-18 centuries! Prepare to wait for 30-45 minutes during weekend dinner.
Louise Dean
This was lovely find, a gorgeous little restaurant serving wholesome Italian food in intimate surrounds. We ate bruschetta to start followed by lasagne - vegetarian for me and meat for him. These were served with a fresh green salad. The portions were generous and the flavours great. There is also a good selection of reasonably priced wine. This place is definitely worth the wait for a table.
Susie Curtis
Fabulous place to eat. Food was good, service was excellent. Loved the owner of the restaurant. Definitely a place to eat when in New Orleans.
Gene Sandefur
Most delicious Fettuccine Alfredo I've ever had.
When we are in the French Quarter for two nights, we eat here two nights.
Quaint atmosphere, delicious food.
Karla Munoz
Mona Lisa was a nice surprise, my kids wanted pizza and there was that and more here great selection of Italian food and wine. Wonderful remixes of the Mona Lisa on the walls from professional artist to kids visiting at the restraunt. My son drew this version that night
Troy P
Fantastic food. Very impressed. I've had worse Italian food for double the price. You cannot beat the value of this place. I had the Veal Parm and my girlfriend had the spaghetti and meatballs. Both were amazing. Do yourself a favour and order the bruschetta as an appetizer. I've never had bruschetta like this. The decor is very down to earth. You get fine dining food and a very casual restuarant. If you're a chocolate lover you need to try the chocolate cake for dessert. Would definitely recommend a visit to Mona Lisa for great Italian food for a great price.
Denise Joyal
Amazing food. Great service. Worth the wait. Get the house salad with your meal.
D. Brent Harsh
A great little spot for Italian in the quarter. Super-accommodating for a walk in group of 9 during JazzFest!! We discovered that our intended destination had changed their "no reservation" policy and now required them, so we walked around the corner to Mona Lisa and were handled swiftly, food was good and were on our way to our concert in plenty of time.
Julie Miller
Super cute, good portions at a fair price, great service, delicious food!!
pei kuan chiew
They have really nice and friendly people working there. But I have had better pizza and Italian food.
Lisa Van Curen
Quirky fun art and design. Super quick service on a December weekday evening. We had a party of 2 and sat immediately. The host was chipper, the server was kind and quick, we got our food in less than 20 minutes. We both liked our pasta dishes. Bring your artistic talent to draw a Mona Lisa on the paper table cloth. Parties larger than 4 people may want to consider a different place to eat. The restaurant is very narrow inside.
Mayur Bhakta
This place comes out of nowhere in French quarter. As you enter we were initially worried as the host wasn’t nice. The waitress def made up for it. She explained the menu and the vegetarian options. The garlic bread was delicious. Soft inner with crunchy outer layer. The stuff shells were delicious. Fettuccini Alfredo was yummy. The decor is ok. The food was amazing.
Christopher Steinman
Charming 'Italian ' restaurant
BE WARNED..DOES NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS!
First Come, First Served..mostly.

Great service friendly staff. I literally stop so my friend could get a egg roll and they showed us so much love. Great times

Cozy little place you would miss if you aren't looking for it..Wait staff is nice, and attentive,. Food came piping hot and only needed some salt and pepper to taste. Highly Recommended

I brought an exchange student from Venice, Italy. She said it was delicious! Enough said!
Michael Dugger Jr
It's a really intriguing place the food is amazing and the people are so nice
Billy Blue
By far excellent. I took my two nieces there for Italian food and was not disappointed. As a fan of The Mona Lisa painting, I was mesmerized by the artwork. The pasta and service were fantastic.
robert smith
Decent Italian food, Quirky atmosphere, fun place to eat
Parth Patel
Really good pasta! If you're in NOLA you should definitely check this place out.
Myche Tician
Great food. Good portions. Service can be a tad slow but this place is popular and possibly understaffed. Great salads too. A hidden gem in the French quarter.
Quin de la Mer
Cozy and yummy 😋 stay and relax ! Romantic even in your street clothes; feel good comfort, affordable- so order to your hearts content. Nice people!! Left feeling good! ( I like that....) …
Lyle Leblanc
Cozy place in the middle of the Quarter with lots of character. Really personable host and waitstaff. We had the garlic bread, baked ziti and chicken parm and they did not disappoint! Will be returning.
Delana Harris
What an amazing find! Our local friends brought us here. We will be back everytime we visit. I love Irene's but the pricing at Mona Lisa more within our budget. The food is awesome! The staff and service was spot on.
H R
Nice Restaurant, the waitress (Raven) was awesome!

Stumbled in because of the good reviews - glad I did. Food was very good, fresh and well orchestrated. The interior is cozy, relaxed and neat. Very friendly staff.
melissa hicks
Food was great! Waitress was nice. Hostess was rude. Will not go back.
Sharon
The Mardi Gras pasta and Tapanade were delicious. We were in a hurry to get to the game and our waitress who had brown wavy hair was very polite and helped us get our food quickly so we were right on time. Thank you
Nancy Fisher
So pleased to have found this cozy spot for dinner! The food was delicious, and our server took great care of us. Loved our experience!

My wife were in New Orleans for the weekend and wanted to have some good Italian food (I know, it doesn't really make sense). We looked around for a few options and found a number of restaurants that probably had good (or even) GREAT food but they weren't the "vibe" we were looking for! We found Mona Lisa's doing a Google Maps search and we are SO GLAD we did!!!
It looked to be a very small restaurant, honestly, so I don't know if seatiis always as easy as it was for us? We got a table right away!!! Pleasant service (Lindsey was really friendly) and very good suggestions on the menu items. My wife had the stuffed mushrooms appetizer, we both had Caesar's salads (the dressing, which seemed homemade was AMAZING) and for her entree, my wife had the Seafood Pasta. She loved the clams, shrimp and tilapia and said the Creole sauce had just enough kick to it to make it exciting but not a regrettable decision she'd wish she hadn't made later tonight or tomorrow. I had the Fettucini Alfredo myself. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the cream sauce was PHENOMENAL. We didn't expect to find GREAT food at Mona Lisa's ... but ... that is exactly what we found! GREAT food, a cool neighborhood vibe and really good service, too. Mona Lisa's is also right down the street from the LaLaurie Mansion and my wife and I got to see that while we were there. It is a cool house, it's history notwithstanding. If you want GREAT food and a cool vibe, visit Mona Lisa's. I don't think you'll regret it. I know my wife and I certainly don't ........
James Byrne
Loved it for years!!! Always great meal and great atmosphere.
Andie Portillo
As soon as you walk in the aromas of herbs and spices just fill the air. Whatever that cheese bread they served with our Caesar salad was, it was AMAZING. I could have eaten 10 more slices of it. Family ordered the spaghetti, chicken piccata, Mardi Gras pasta, and the lasagna. It was truly amazing and the service was great. Great ambiance too. What a great spot.
Mitch Ravenswyck
Lovely little Italian spot in the quarter. Authentic New Orleans vibe with the fun Crayon art all over the walls, great staff, excellent food. Highly recommend the Paneed Chicken, I cleaned the plate. So juicy and the Alfredo was savory and delicious
William Guilford
Great food, reasonably priced, in a cool little neighborhood restaurant.
Mika J
We arrived home Thursday night from our 6 day stay which was Wonderful!
Saturday we ate at the Mona Lisa restaurant.
I had the bolognese and my wife had the lasagna.
Both dishes were good, but I wished I'd ordered the lasagna once I tried it!
We formed a line outside the front with about 10 others just before 5:00 and before we left there was a wait.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Reenie Riley
Was needing a break from the seafood and creole and this place hit the spot! Quaint atmosphere and friendly staff. We didn't have a reservation and had to wait about 20 minutes on Sunday around 7, not bad!
Victoria Evans
Classic New Orleans eatery. Unique drawings of Mona Lisa everywhere. Delicious fresh pizza. Love the olive tapenade. Red & white checkered tablecloths. Crayons and butcher-paper are so nice to have for kids and adults. Lovely romantic ambiance. Owner may come across as surly, but we find him rather delightful--much like a witty Brit who loves his customers and has many friends. Highly recommend!
Edward “Ed” Azemas
Always great food here! I haven't been here in years. I think it's better than I remembered. We all enjoyed our food. They picked up four very clean plates.
Crystal Guzman
So glad we heard about this place during our Tour in the French Quarters! The food was absolutely delish!!! There was a 30 minute wait as there's limited seating but definitely well worth it 👌 This establishment offers a casual dining experience with a little romance by adding the candle lights to each table. Our waitress Raven was very friendly, sweet and attentive. Just in case you're wondering we ordered the Garlic Bread appetizer, Chicken Alfredo Fettuccine w/ peas, Shrimp Scampi and a Meat ball sub... All was fulfilling to the taste and good portion size.
Travis Thompson
Dang! I lost my photos! Look, these guys are so sweet. You can draw your own Mona Lisa and if you're lucky it'll get hung on the wall. Or heck, rip it off and take it with you. The food is really good and it's a cute little romantic atmosphere. I recommend the spinach (or regular if your a meaty folk) lasagna. The pizza is good enough that you'll eat more than you should. Start with the spinache dip which is served with their breadsticks and mad tasty.
Ceara Chirovsky
Great bar filled with great welcoming locals, intended to pop in for one drink and ended up staying for a few hours and loved every minute. Thank you all for a great time!!
Mark Walls
This place is perfect. We showed up at around 7pm on a Sunday and had to wait about 45 minutes, which isn’t a problem in the French quarter since you can just walk in any direction to have a drink while you wait. They took down our number and called us when a table was ready. The ambiance is warm and even romantic, but of course you’ll find couples as well as families and small groups eating there. Everything on the menu is under $20 (besides bottles of wine) and you get much more than what you pay for here. The portions are great, and everything was delicious. We ordered a fettuccine and veal dish which came with a salad, and a medium pizza and finished it all. We ordered their chocolate cake for dessert and were not disappointed. We also had two glasses of wine, and in total our bill before the tip was around $50, an amazing deal for a dinner date. Our server was friendly and helpful too. This place is a must in New Orleans.
Jonathan Peterson
When I get worn out by Cajun and creole and just want something delicious and comfortable, this is one of the places to go. Good, inexpensive wine list and solid Italian standards and great pizza that are delicious, inexpensive and really massive portions.
Lidiya Alexander
Basic. :(

Updated review a year later.
Something changed. Definitely. Food was a lot faster to come to the table. Had the lasagna which was piping hot, and tasted incredibly good. (That marinara sauce was just top notch.) And the bruschetta is probably the best I've had this side of the Atlantic ocean. It was just stupidly good. Like i want to eat it like a soup, straight from the bowl good. Service still nice and still friendly. Now i can recommend this place.
Ps. Do not leave this place without having the bruschetta. Yeah, I'm obsessed with it.
A year ago (October 2020)
Very friendly service, but two plates of pasta, nothing exciting took 45 minutes to come out of the kitchen. Both entrees were extremely bland! Everything about this dinner was terrible bland. Very disappointing. On the upside, the place is nice, very clean. 2.5 stars.
Cassady Zale
Incredible atmosphere. We were greeted right as we walked in the door by the host and seated promptly. Our waitress was extremely kind and let us get salads with our pizza. The salad came with a cheese stick that was huge! It was delicious. Our pizza was the best pizza I’ve had in a long long time. Definitely wish there were more stars!
Rosela Woods
Amazing food! Great atmosphere the decor is quirky but interesting. Did I mention the food was amazing?
Jeremy Smith
A bit of a hidden gem. The food was excellent, linguine cooked perfectly. The wine selection was obviously put together by someone who knows wine but was very fairly priced. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance and is located at the quieter end of Royal. Highly recommended.
LaToya Johnson
The food was Great and the hurricane was delicious! The bartender, Marsha, "makes the best hurricanes around" and was a fabulous host and bartender. Mike "the cook" has Blessed hands! Will definitely come back!

Good Italian food, good prices , pizza is the best
Maimya, Bae Baby
The food was fabulous. Best food I had in my 3-day trip in Louisiana. Great flavor great service. And they put my meal over vegetables since I have to eat gluten free
Nate Thornton
Absolutely my favorite Italian spot in New Orleans! The food is wonderfully simple and fresh, and the atmosphere is 1000% quarter. After having been probably a dozen times, I literally have trouble going anywhere else when I'm in town. 11/10 recommend
Amber Callan
The food was absolutely delicious! Their calzone dough was A++ and their Mardi Gras pasta was lovely as well. Plus, we absolutely loved the atmosphere / ambiance of the restaurant.
I give them four stars as we found the service to be a bit slower than expected (it took almost an hour from when we ordered to when we received our dinner (one calzone + one plate of pasta)). With that being said, it was worth the wait!
Laura Tetrick
A local told us about it since it's further down a street than most tourists go. The food was fantastic! It was the best lemon garlic sauce I've ever had, very well balanced. Tint place so you may have a wait, but worth it!
Cynthia Krill
I have been to my share of Italian restaurants, this one is Excellent! Amazing food! What a hidden gem in Nola. Chicken Alfredo was the best I’ve had in years. I’m from NY , you usually can’t get better unless your in Italy. Friendly service, great atmosphere. We will be back for sure!! If you don’t go here for dinner you are missing out.....
Ivan Kelley
Quirky Italian restaurant in the French Quarter. One of my favorite restaurants to eat at in New Orleans. We eat here at least once on every trip. Been eating here for 20 plus years. The food is always good. Everything Italian from great pasta dishes, delicious pizzas and great sandwiches. They make the bread for the sandwiches. I love the meatball sub and the Mona Lisa special sub or pizza is excellent. Do not let the small size or quirky decor fool you. Great food and worth the wait if busy.
Steve
Delicious food and wonderful staff!
Dario Rocha
Cool place with great Italian food. You may have to wait a bit to be seated during the night but it's totally worth it. Definitely will come back next time I visit New Orleans.
Kasey Lopez
This place is a hidden gem. Arrived during dinner, and had a short. Manager asked us to wait outside and offered us something to drink. Sat down after a very short wait and received water. Ordered the cheese bread to start. Chee's bread came out promptly and arrived hot. Ordered dinner which arrived promptly as well, and was very good (Alfredo, meatball sub, and Caeser salad). Ordered dessert to go. Enjoyed this dinner throughly, and will definitely be making a return trip in the future.
Jon Juan
This is a true gem to find while traveling the French Quarter. Tucked away is an amazing Italian resturant with legit belly pleasing food fit for a king or queen. Amazing home cooking, cute spot with walls covered with art from customers portraying the Mona Lisa. Please eat here!!
Andrew Thompson
Food was next level. I recommend the spinach dip and lasagna. This could feed 2 people with ease. This place doesn't have a lot of seating so plan ahead!
Foreign and Domestic Autocare
My girlfriend and I ate a late dinner here Sunday, May 24th. We got to the restaurant at 9 pm, and there was a 45 minute wait. We knew it must be good if it was that crowded, and we were right. I had the Lasagna, and it was amazing. The service was outstanding, the ambiance was unique, and the prices were very reasonable. Lowest priced dinner we had all weekend. We will definitely be returning here on our next trip to the Quarter!
Gabs
i came to new orleans for the first time and was craving italian, so after some searching, i stumbled upon this place and i am so happy i did. the atmosphere is to die for, and the food was absolutely amazing. (as a frequent pasta eater take it from me) not to mention the friendly and speedy staff. definitely will be re-visiting as soon as possible.
Jason Kissell
We miss Mona Lisa so much! This was our favorite place to eat in the whole New Orleans area during the 6 years we lived in the French Quarter. We miss the employees and owner so much!
Kaitlyn Brown
The place has a really nice family atmosphere. I got the Parmesan. The sauce and their homemade meatballs were very good, but the noodles were underwhelming. The just okay visit turned into a bad one when at the end of our meal, the hostess came to clear the table and spilled red sauce on my brand new white pants. She apologized, got me soda water and a tide to go pen, but made no effort past that (I still paid full price and no mention of any plans to help if my $40 pants were ruined due to her mistake). That's just my experience with one person so that's not affecting my rating. Based purely on the food, I give it three stars.
Jackie Johnson
The wait was pretty bad and almost double what we were told. You have to wait outside which makes it unpleasant. The restaurant was cool with great food! Our server was very attentive and we had a good time coloring and drinking wine. They do have a bug problem and need to spray for roaches.
Angie
Just the best! Delicious food and quaint ambience. Everytime I visit this city, I make a point to stop in. This is a French Quarter gem!
Michael Le
One of the best places in the French Quarter! The food was amazing, portion size was excellent, and prices were better than expected. It's a small place so it's not good for big groups. Lots of fun photos!
The bathroom situation is a bit weird. It's a shared bathroom out back. Watch your step!
Brian
This is a quaint little Italian place tucked back away from the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter. I have had the pizza here and it is quite good. Much better than any chain restaurant by a large margin. Service is slow but timely. The meal progresses with an unrushed pace allowing you to enjoy your food and company rather than be rushed out the door. Take a moment to relax, enjoy a good meal, and take some time to look around and ponder why they call this Mona Lisa.
Ritch Boi
Favorite place in the quarter! Stuffed Shells are absolutely the best!
Andrew Jennings
Arrived in the evening after attending the Jazz Festival and were delighted by the fast and attentive service, to die for basket of garlic bread and a truly quaint ambience. Of course the pasta was also good! I highly recommend this restaurant. Added bonus that they have a reasonable corking fee of $10 if you bring your own wine.
Andre Meaux
Bottom line - great Italian food and HUGE portions!! The environment is low-key and great for families and offers a bit of a respite from the craziness that is NOLA.
Danielle Cook
Small spot, casual. Waitress was supper nice and sweet. Waiting to order get food etc was spaced out for us just enough. It wasn't to close together in time. We had time to finish each meal (app, salad, entree). There was only one waitress, so she struggled to keep up with everything but she was super nice.
Joshua Cadwallader
There was a queue out the door to enter and the host rudely turned us away on our first attempt to eat here, so we assumed the food must be fantastic and tried again a day later. The host was equally rude, but we did get a seat and the waitress who served us was very nice. We ordered two pizzas but the food just didn't live up to what we'd hoped. Both were fine but not special and not worth the queue or initial rudeness of the host.
Alyssa Carter
It may look like your average neighborhood pizza joint, but Mona Lisa Pizza is anything but! I stumbled in with my drunk friends on a Sunday night, and was immediately greeted by a mouthy staff member and incredible aroma of baking pizza. The restaurant was filling up quickly, but we managed to snag a table. If there is a wait it will be worth it. During these COVID times please follow the rules of our city and request of the restaurant.
MJ C
I know, why go to NOLA and then eat Italian food? Because it's so good. Best calzone I've had outside of the New York area. Mona Lisa's never disappoints. Great friendly service. I stop here every trip to the Crescent City
David Mathews
Service is awesome. Food has always been good. Due to pandemic, last October, food was lacking seasoning. Yesterday, food is much improved and close to normal before pandemic. Pleasant place to eat.
Elishia Harris
Me and my family came down from Chicago and I can say the drinks was amazing and the food was delicious our bartender Marsha showed us a good time…! Can’t wait to return and definitely try the oysters 🦪 …
Quentin Francois
What can I say... Amazing Italian food!! My girlfriend and I really really really loved the food there (she had the spinach lasagna and I had the eggplants parmesan). We had to wait an hour to get a table which let us time to get a drink two blocks away :) Not expensive. Great service.
Robb Barrington
Amazing! A wonderful change when you’ve had your fill of NOLA seafood(although still available in pasta form if you haven’t!) Quant, wonderful service (Raeven was an amazing waitress), fantastic food(go hungry! The portions are generous), and very reasonably priced. We were so lucky to happen upon this hole in the wall. It made our unplanned wedding day dinner a delight. Thank you guys so much!

Mona lisa was a wonderful change of pace for NOLA. I ordered the lasagna and a piece of chocolate cake, both of which were very good. The lasagna was massive and seriously amazing, but sometimes you just need dessert too. My server was very attentive. The artwork on the walls was also very fitting. I would say this is a good place for groups of 4 or less people as it is a more intimate restaurant.
Kelsey James
One of the best! Spinach Lasagna is delicious and a must, plus it comes with a salad and a breadstick so plenty of bang for your buck. The calzones are stuffed to the brim and delicious. You can do no wrong at Mona Lisa!
Jeremy Dobler
The ambiance was great. A huge variety of Mona Lisa paintings/drawings/sketches all over the walls. Price was decent, but I did feel the portion sizes were a little small. Overall great italian restaurant with a great atmosphere.
Herman Gan
Our first night in New Orleans and we opted for pasta (!!!). Probably a "soul food" for us as a family.
The ambiance was great. The walls are nicely decorated with many different caricatures of Mona Lisa. There is even a Mr. Bean Mona Lisa on the wall.
Definitely order the alfredo...their specialty dish, I think. It tasted great.
Liked how the setting was put together and very much like a hole in the wall environment.
Debbie Tye
First off, the only reason I am giving them a 3 is because the food is so amazing.
We have eaten there many times because of the food, but it's getting harder and harder to consider going back.
The staff is consistently rude acting like they don't want to be there.
When you walk in they stare at you and just walk away. There is no
" someone will be right with you " etc.
The older man that is always there has got to be the rudest person ever!
He storms around and is rude to the customers.
We tried to eat there last night and he told us there was a 15 to 20 minute wait. There were at least 3 tables open and when we mentioned it, he pushed a chipboard in our face and said there were people waiting. There was NO ONE anywhere there so I'm not sure why he said that. We said we weren't going to wait because he was being rude, he got nasty with us.
So we walked out and seriously thinking about never going back just because of him.
This is something that happens every time!
Timothy Brault
What a great, quirky place! You can find it by looking for the Mona Lisa painting out front. We were seated after a very short wait and enjoyed a delicious Italian/American meal. I had the Mona Lisa Pasta—can’t go wrong with that signature shrimp - sausage - red cream sauce mix. My girlfriend had Pasta Primavera, which she also enjoyed quite a bit. We’ll come back next time!
Andrew Hunter
Stumbled across this place which is tucked away from main tourist streets. So pleased we found it! Food superb , service excellent and great ambiance. Would definitely visit again if ever back in NOLA.
Olivia S.
Great service and delicious food. Highly recommend the Alfredo. Worth the wait and I will come back!
Willyne Moore
Amazing amazing amazing! Stop reading the reviews and quickly call and make reservations!
I am from DC and was in town for a work conference. This was one of the best meals I had while in New Orleans. Many great meals because it's a foodie's food haven! I had a classic dish: spaghetti and meatballs. Best ever! I want to come back to New Orleans just for this dish.
Shay H
Pasta was really good - we got the Mardi Gras and didn’t have to feel guilty about getting Italian food in New Orleans.
Cheesy bread is just slices of cheese pizza without the sauce. We weren’t complaining!
Wine menu is reasonably priced and service seems very family-owned.
They also have crayons on the table so two adults in late 20s/early30s had a blast with drawing on the tables to pass time.
Kylie Underwood
So glad my husband and I chose this novelty restaurant to eat! The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is very relaxed and casual. The walls are covered in different versions of the Mona Lisa, and you can even show off your artistic abilities by drawing your own version of Mona Lisa on your table cloth, and it might even end up as a cover on a menu or on the wall. The pizza was some of the best I've had! We will definitely be returning next time we are in New Orleans!
Sister Sherry Doing Stuff
I love this pizza RESTAURANT! Excellent food, great customer service. The atmosphere is warm, funky and inviting. Get here early so you won't miss out. They're only open for dinner!
Brian Cockrell
Fantastic spot for good Italian food. Everything was incredible. I couldn’t finish my meatball poboy (sub) the last time I was in.
Anthony Oliver
Friend recommended this place. Very good. Had the shrimp scampi and wife had chicken parmesan. Also had order of the bread sticks. Best meal I've had in new Orleans, did not expect to get such good italian in Nola. The prices are really affordable as well.
Rory de la Haba
Amazing little restaurant located in the French Quarter! Good service, delicious food and great prices! Mona Lisa makes a good dinner great!
A perfect place for a couple or a group.
Went there with some colleagues from India. Everyone was quite impressed and no one left hungry!
Just a wonderful place to dine. I am looking forward to my next opportunity to travel to New Orleans on business so that I can return to the Mona Lisa!!!
Chelsea Boyle
A cozy neighborhood restaurant with delicious comfort foods at a reasonable price. The Caesar salad and past primavera were highlights, but everything was great.
David Labrador
Good food and service. If there's a line, just order a bottle of wine and drink it on the sidewalk. Reasonable prices.
Phillip Natalizio
Fun interior! Well prepared food.
Bengee Hively
Go all the time. Most recently the portions seemed smaller and less flavorful, however, this could have just been a one off. I'll continue to eat there cause the staff is fun and the decor is awesome.
tyler hall
Wonderful, nice staff and great pizza. What's not to love, next time might have to try something other than pizza.
Janna Rhodes
Had the best shrimp scampi of my life here! My friend ordered the veal piccata and was similarly wowed. Warm, inviting, and cleverly kitschy interior too. Wish I could be a regular!
Rylie Eames
If you love great Italian food, this place rocks. From their pasta to their meatball sandwich, there is something for everyone. You can sit and dine, get it to go, or they even deliver to certain areas of the Quarter. Love this spot for sure.
Bruce Richardson
A great little Italian eatery in the French Quarter. Short wait. Drawings of Mona Lisa adorn the walls and menu from locals and kids. Love that museum like friendliness. Food was very good
Dan Wagner
Great service and great food. We had the bruschetta and tapenade for appetizers and they were both really good. The spinach lasagna and Mardi Gras pasta were both very good as well. Very cool, tiny place hidden away from the chaos. Can't wait to go back!
Bret Cunningham
One of my staples in the area for inexpensive yet good lasagna, ceasar salad, pasta, and of course pizza. Rare to find a little restaurant in the French Quarter that isn't overpriced. And the guy at the front door always manages to squeeze out almost a smile when he sees us and we always enjoy his unusually dry humor. Relax and have fun and take in the Momas covering the walls (oh, don't forget they don't serve hard alcohol so you'll have to go.down to the nutsy Golden Lantern for that and bring it back)
Joseph Rippolone
The food is very good and the portions are perfect. If you’re looking for authentic Italian food at a very reasonable price check this place out. We love it here. Very intimate and casual. Bona Petite
Lucy McGrath
Loved this place! Actually I think my friends and I found our new favorite spot. Cassie served us and was an absolute doll!!! Every one of her recommendations was a hit! We’ll definitely be back be soon.
Sara Macphee
Idk what was in that spinach dip but it was the best I've ever had! This place was cozy and welcoming, a nice break from all the wonderful traditional NOLA cousine we've been feasting on for days. Staff was friendly, prices were reasonable, food was stellar. Loved this place so much.
Sk Smith
My wife and I had a wonerful quanit dinner there. The server was patient with us since we were refueling from after the Saints game. Things were not rushed and the food was great. Dont expect the food to come out fast thats not what this place about. Good food takes time and each dish is made with love.
Neptune
Excellent place for romantic dinner.
DWBonny
Had lasagna there last night (they were out of spaghetti and meatballs, my first choice in an unfamiliar Italian restaurant) and enjoyed the laid-back artwork (truth be told, I don't believe all the Mona Lisas were painted by Rembrandt himself- certainly not the one in which the fair maiden is depicted as having buck teeth and wearing glasses...) and the cozy ambiance. The staff was very nice- not too hovering or pretentious- the cabernet was excellent, the lasagne was very good, but the meal was somewhat spoiled by the covering sauce that just might have come from a can. Still, I'd go back, especially with the right dinner date!
Gabby Segura (Gabbyx0x95)
Food and atmosphere was great! Unfortunately the wait was ridiculous. Host told us we would only wait 30 minutes. Instead we waited over 45 minutes to be seated while there were 4 completely open tables. I would highly recommend calling for a reservation.
Dana James
Food here is fantastic and always reasonably priced.the portions of wonderful as well after an appetizer salad which comes every entree I wasn't able to finish my Bolognese. Which is great cuz now I have lunch tomorrow. Highly recommend especially if you are from out of town.
Patrick Arena
The food was great, decent prices, great service. We liked the atmosphere and the location. My wife and I shared a salad, a 10” pizza, and lasagna and loved it. Go early and have the run of the place.
emily s
Super fresh ingredients, I had never had fresh peas before and didn't even know I liked them. Great romantic yet chill atmosphere. Good service but not overly stuffy or anything which is perfect for the environment
Kris Wotipka
Great food but when they tell you it's a 30 minute wait, be ready for an hour. Good thing is that they will call your phone so you can go walk around.
Pete Isacks
Excellent Bistro off the beaten tourist path in the French Quarter. All entre's are below $16, unbelievable and indescribably authentic gourmet! Italian Cuisine at its best. A treat and with the price, twice a week!
Pauly D
We have not eaten at Mona Lisa in years. Usually we do not order carry out but yesterday we were busy so last night we ordered pizzas to go. They were just as tasty as we remember and next time we are back in New Orleans we plan to go back and dine in.
Matthew Anderson Saucier
Great traditional Italian food. Can have long wait times like every other restaurant in the Big Easy. Great service and priced well. The owners are always walking around and checking on the customers. Great place that the locals all recommend.
Devon Carney
Every time we are in NOLA we eat at Mona Lisa's. Delicious Italian food. Unique environment. Always something to look at while you wait for your food. I had their pizza for the first time (I usually get a pasta dish). They didn't disappoint. It was the Mona Lisa Special Combo. Fresh ingredients. Crust was very tasty. FOH and our waitress were polite and friendly. It was a chilly evening outside and they checked to make sure we were warm enough inside. The tapenade appetizer was also very tasty. Layers of flavor. If you find yourself in the French quarter with a rumbly in the rumbly, I recommend you check out Mona Lisa.
Gary Day
Food was very good and reasonably priced. Would definitely go again.
Christopher Henrie
Food was yummy and the environment is very cute.
Robin Canfield
The wait is worth it. The food at Mona Lisa is delicious, staff friendly, drink selection good. The ambiance inside is wonderful; every different pop culture version of the Mona Lisa I could think of we found on the wall.
Virginia Johns
Great cute little Italian Restaurant. Food was amazing. I went with 4 of my girlfriends and we all ordered something different. Everyone loved their food. I had the Mardi Gras pasta and it was delicious.
Wayland Smith
Great food and attentive service. There was no place to wait for a table, but the staff made recommendations about local bars, which were great and close by, and took a cell phone number to tell us when our table was ready. Fun little neighborhood feel. A bit crowded floor space, but well worth it.
Heather Walker
Quaint little place with amazing Italian food! We got the spinach and artichoke dip, spinach lasagna (huge portion!) and shrimp scampi..all authentic and all very flavorful! Highly recommend!
Emily Reyes
Not going to lie, I ate here almost two years ago on vacation and I still think about this place. I cannot wait to get back. Food was amazing!
Frank Segura
Host make you wait outside until ready even though they have tables available after that is a must try. Good food, cozy environment, good dessert. Not parking lot structure.clean bathroom.friendly food servers
Rhonda Hickman
Great neighborhood restaurants. Busy and only opened 5 to 10 PM. Food was good and we got 3 different dishes. Everyone liked their dishes. Priced reasonably.
Dimetrius
Love love love this place. When walking, if you blink, you'll miss it. Very small, quaint Italian-style restaurant with very cool eclectic and urban Mona Lisa paintings all over.
Anna Dusza
WOW!! What a great place! Food delicious (FYI, if you like shrimp scampi it's perfect) the ambiance.. I could go on and on, if you need break from Cajun, this place will take you to Italy <3 P.S. Lindsay is wonderful.
Michele (Scism) Mere
The lasagna was amazing
Amanda Cornelius
I can't get enough of their bruschetta... and their picatta is to die for. Pasta doesn't have to be expensive to be delectable. The atmosphere is cozy, romantic, funky, and unpretentious. A little hidden gem for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle.
Joe Tir1
A very nice small Italian restaurant. Good food; good service; good value. I will definitely be back.
lonesome johnnie
Our go to Italian. We love the "snippy grey haired @ss" who seats you. Relax, just snip back and have fun with it. The food is stick to your ribs cheesy, saucy Italian. The gravy obviously has been simmered long. I like the spinach lasagna. The clams are good as well. Wife likes the bolognese. Pizza is ok, there is better in town but I do order the Calzone. Save room for the limoncello. Reasonable prices as well. You'll have fun looking at all the various renditions of Mona Lisa on the 2alls and who knows, with the crayons they give you, yours may be next on the wall
Trevor Jones
Excellent Italian restaurant in the French Quarter of New Orleans. First class food and great service. Good selection of wine, very good simple food. Excellent value for money.
Shelley Gunther
Wonderful food. I had veal parm and it was real veal not a pressed veal pattie. The flavor was amazing. Good salad as well. Highly recommend.
Jesse Paige
Great neighborhood pizza, pasta and salad place. Nothing fancy, just good food and good service. This place is very local New Orleans. It is not touristy and that's a great thing!
Jose Luna
This is a perfect hole in the wall for a romantic date night.. They give you paper to draw which is a great time killer. Prices are very reasonable for the quantity and taste... This will be my new favorite place to eat
Siobhan Crawford
If Farrow goes off on you at the door it is because you are a terrible person.
Al Byrum
A locals type of place with good simple italian food. We had the signature mona lisa pizza and it was not greasy, the crust was not chewy but tasty, and the Chianti red wine was good. The food and wine prices are very reasonable. Others had veal and seafood pasta dishes and liked them very much. Enjoyable atmosphere and we had a good waitress. Enjoy.
Maggie Lee
Great service, Great food, great atmosphere. Everyone in our party really enjoyed there meal. We all got different types of dishes. I would recommend this to anyone.
Bron white
Small Italian menu but the food is excellent. Highly recommend the veal. Pizza & calzones looked amazing. Very busy. Would recommend reservations due to it's size. Very enjoyable & highly reasonable $
Niki Maul (Jubilee)
Great food! This hole-in-the-wall has so much to offer. It would have been 5 stars if not for the wait (there's no wait seating).
Ken Reddy
Very cozy little restaurant. Great food. Great service. Large portions and very reasonably priced. Would recommend to any one that like Italian cuisine.
Joshua Skinner

Jo Harmon
Pasta was delicious, spinach dip a must
Friendly service
Lynn Sauers
Mona Lisa was wonderful. Out of the Main Street hubbub. Clean, wonderful waitstaff, wonderful food. A gem a little farther out.
Mohammed Al-Sharif (Meghterb)
I think this place is opened by one family. People who work there look like a family. It's a nice place to eat at. Food is good. The place is a bit small. There are many strange drawings for Mona Liza!
Robert Hatfield
Friend and I went here. Had the veal something or other and overall food was awsome, definitely didn't feel hungry afterwards lol. Ambiance was unique and fun. This will become a destination next visit.
Larry Syputa
The wait was worth every minute. Our entrees were perfect, the service was attentive and the prices very fair. We will return.

David Reich
Excellent Italian food, cozy setting, and very reasonably priced. Can't believe I hadn't tried this place sooner. Definitely one of the top Italian restaurants in the city.
mikko presents
Old school Italian comfort food. Charming customer-drawn Mona Lisa's on the walls - moderately priced wine. Great place to sit and watch the French Quarter walk by
Jim Walker
We have called it our favorite Italian Restaurant for a lot of years but we got take out Chef Salad tonight and it was the BEST I’ve had in a long long time. Still the best of the best 🤗👍👍👍 …
digi G
My name is Brian. I used to live in San Francisco and I ate The Sausage factory. The experience here was amazing... the gentleman who used to work at Orphan Andy's was very nice. Thank you kindly for your service.
Patricia Breeding
The food was great! Pasta Bolognese and Eggplant Parmesan were great, as was dessert (is Panna Cotta ever bad?) The fun art made it even better!
Alicia Dallas
My husband, son and I visited the Mona Lisa on Saturday night after a day at the WWII Museum. When we arrived, we talked to the host briefly before being ushered back outside to wait. There were no chairs or benches to sit on while waiting. The wait was about 10-15 minutes. My husband and I split a large Garden Pizza which could probably feed three people adequately. While we were waiting for our food to be delivered, we drew on paper on the table with crayons and admired all the variations of the Mona Lisa painting on the walls.
Andres Braud
This is one of my favorite places to eat on a regular basis in the French Quarter. It's relaxing, the prices are fair, it's an intimate atmosphere, and of course the food is always delicious. Enjoy!
Lyn Kieltyka
great place! usually a wait, but worth it! I'm not always a fan of their red sauce in pasta dishes, but I love their pizza and salad!
Joseph Sinclair
Fast friendly service with amazing pizza! The garlic bread was just ok but worth a buy if your starving. Other than that, the pizza is a sure winner here.
Bonnie Young
This was well worth the wait! The lasagna was the BEST I've ever had!
Unique Snyder
Very Unique decor, with all styles and illustrations of Mona Lisa. It kinda has a mob feel lol. The food is DELICIOUS, literally everything!!!
Charles Landis
Really good, basic Italian classics. They don't take reservations so the wait can be long. But the service, ambience and food are worth the wait.
Hippie Pigeon
Good Italian food with Cajun twist
Mike Fletcher
The atmosphere was great. It reminded me of a little Italian restaurant in Philadelphia. The service was excellent and by the time we left several people were outside waiting to get in.
Frank Ciuffetelli
Very good food and very good service in a quirky environment. The salad and lasagna were both very good. Definitely going back to try something new.
Ishan Desai
Try their lasagna. It’s delicious.

My top 5 fave restaurants in New Orleans for taking guests out to eat. Mind blowing Italian and pizza and every inch of the walls is covered with many interpretations of the most recognizable faces in the world. The Mona Lisa
Ed Sawyer
This is a fun small restaurant covered in everything 'Mona Lisa'. The prices were excellent for the great food we ordered. The Chicken Parmesan and the Lasagna were both great.

The best and the most food I've eaten in 6 months reception was friendly and quick service was very accommodating presentation was excellent overall it was a very fun and satisfying experience for my first time in New Orleans only problem was I ate so much I didn't feel like going and walking around town afterwards
Edwin Sonneveld
Very Nice restaurant and food
Michael Byrd
Food was good but a little expensive...the sitting area was prettty hot as there is very little circulation of air in there the wait staff were nice but the manager or owner was a total tool heard him call out this elderly lady who asked him if he'd turn on the ac or a fan he loudly asked her if she was paying his power... Technically the prices from the food are supposed to give them enough for the overhead... So that took away from the experience but the food was nice and the drinks were good as well.
Bryan Gillum
Vey tasty food. Highly recommend
John Duplantis
The best Italian 🍕 food in the city! Small great atmosphere and super friendly staff.
