Reviews of Mahony's Po-boys & Seafood - Uptown

1st trip to NOLA and we had to come here twice for the Po-boys as they were amazing! Fried pickels, red beans an rice are a must do! The light seasonings let you taste the seafood and the crunch is perfect! The staff here is amazing, super friendly and attentive. Worth the time to come here and the outdoor seating is perfect! We will definitely be back here!

Never having eaten a New Orleans Po Boy, we’re not sure how to rate Mahony’s “Award Winning” Peace Maker in relation to other New Orleans Po Boys. Most restaurants have them - what makes one better than another? Isn’t it basically a sandwich on a sub roll a with fancy way of saying lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo? Our $22.95, fried oyster and shrimp Peace Maker came “dressed” with candied bacon. The best part was the bread. And then the candied bacon. As far as Mahoney’s? It was a comfortable place to sit alone at the bar and wait for a beer. Recommend trying someplace else.

The food here was great. We had the grilled shrimp po boy and the club po boy. They were both very flavorful. We ordered the onion rings for a side. There was more than enough for us to share. The team worked well together and covered every table in the restaurant as a team, so nothing got missed.

Awesome Shrimp Poboy! Excellent service! Great drinks! Well worth the walk back from the wrong Uber drop off point! Mahoney’s fulfilled my craving for an authentic New Orleans Po-boy!! My daughter loved her Roast Beef Po-boy as well! We also got Fried Green Tomatoes & Crawfish Nachos that we’re out of this world!!

Best Po'boys and gumbo we had all trip!! Stopped here on a whim looking for po'boys. The freshest bread, crispy delicious shrimp served hot! They have indoor and outdoor seating and a bar for cold drinks. Would highly recommend it!!

We had a really lovely lunch in this place on Magazine Street. The service was friendly, the food really good. We had one of their famous po-boys and an avocado shrimp salad, both tasty and well presented.

I got the shrimp poboy and it was delicious! I got the 6 inch and a side of fries. The shrimp wasn't greasy but instead was definitely light and had a good crunch! The bread was nice and fresh and fully dressed was the way to go!

This place was to die for! Thank you triple D for this excellent find! I got the Remi po boy shared the 10” with my friend. The fried green tomatoes on this sandwich made me so proud of my southern roots. The bread that they use on these po Boys you can tell is made fresh daily absolutely out of this world! You will not be disappointed also the sides were excellent too we had red beans & rice and the corn maque choux. Will absolutely come back the next time I’m visiting New Orleans. The bartender that waited on us was super friendly & hospitable we loved her accent!

Cons:
- While the poboys were hefty we weren’t crazy about them. The seafood was fresh but I wish it had more seasoning so that was a bit disappointing since we went for the poboys
Pros:
- The best part of our experience was Joe!!!!! He was the most polite and helpful server we had the entire trip. He was great in answering all of our questions and was attentive. I loved the fact he explained how the poboy’s were sized and what his favorite menu items
- The restaurant staff verified COVID vaccination cards prior to seating patrons and everyone was masked
- We loved the étouffée fries

Shrimp poboy was on point and affordable. I would definitely go here again for a poboy. I got the full sandwich and the bread was how a poboy bread should be.
Beignet fries were surprisingly good and they give you A LOT!
