Reviews of Liuzza's Restaurant & Bar
KELLY JAMES
Stopped in on a whim. Was very welcoming. Lola was a great waitress. She always made sure everything was ok. We got the seafood platter which was perfectly cooked. The oysters were delicious. Beer served in a frozen mug. Perfect!!!!

This is located is a decent location on the corner, very easy to get to. The staff was very friendly and bartender was helpful with good advice about different places to go. Now they get a 5 stars but I’m actually only judging them on their food. I found this place from a guy I watch on YouTube and decided to give them a chance. Now I found out he actually went to the Liuzza’s by the Track location. So I’m upset at myself for that lol But the food… was very average I would say. The red beans and rice were bland and in seasoned. The gumbo was okay at best, also lacking that New Orleans flavor I was hoping to get in a bite. I ordered chicken Parmesan as well and it’s my fav dish! They did it no justice. It wasn’t a traditional red tomato sauce you may be used to. Which is fine if it was good but me and my friend wasn’t pleased. The spaghetti could use seasoning. The pictures look good but the flavor don’t match. Wish I had better things to say but that’s how it is sometimes.

I was reading responses about good food in New Orleans on Reddit and came across someone suggesting this place, specifically the Fried Green Tomato Po’ Boy with Shrimp Remoulade. Sounded good to me and the reviews on here rave about it. This sandwich is $17.50, that doesn’t include a side. I was disappointed in the amount you get for the price. For that price I’m expecting a large sandwich full of stuff. The tomatoes were so thin you couldn’t even taste them. The remoulade has good flavor and that’s all you can taste. It was more bread than anything. The waitress was very nice and that’s why I’m not giving it 2 stars. I would not come back. In my opinion this was way over priced. Luckily of all of the places we’ve eaten on our trip here this place has been the only disappointment.

Great spot! I was recently down in the mid-city section of NOLA with a bunch of friends and we went to Liuzza's for dinner - and it didn't disappoint. I had the roast beef sandwich and onion rings, while my friends had pizza, sausage roll, and jambalaya. The food was fantastic. For dessert, we had the banana pudding - delicious. After dinner, we went over to the bar area for some frosted beers - they were excellent. Staff was super friendly. Patrons were super friendly as well. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Luizza's lived up to the hype after I saw it on an episode of True South on the SEC network. The joint oozes character, it's not the kind of place that's going to be crowded with tourists. The staff was friendly and made me feel like family, classic southern hospitality. The food was a fair price, and delicious! It being a Friday I opted for a meatless meal of fried shrimp and catfish. Get an 18oz ice cold beer too! Ill be back for sure, a place that's gonna stay among my go tos during trips to NOLA.

Food is always delicious. Get a bushwhacker. Last time we went 45 minutes after opening, we walk in, no greeting, so we walked into the main dining hall where the waitresses were sitting and they literally waited for us to walk up to them...they still didn't get up. They just looked up at us and asked how many. We told them, then they got up to move tables together. I really think this is just the new orleans way of life...and we were seated rt away, so.....my son ordered grilled shrimp and was served fried, but they were delicious. The waitress made ordering very confusing, but that could've been us too. We were a party of 7. I just felt like there were major communication issues. However the food and the frozen mugs are always worth any small inconvenience.... we never leave hungry or disappointed :)

Some of the best food in NOLA try the combination meatballs and Italian sausage! It's a great start don't forget the Italian salad as well. NOW WATCH YOUR CHECK THEY ARE FAMOUS FOR THE UPCHARGE AFTER THE CHECK!!
Lee Lastovica
My friends have been telling that they want to take me to Liuzza’s so I can experience an old school New Orleans meal. I can tell you that if you leave Liuzza’s hungry, you’re doing something wrong. I had the open faced roast beef poboy with mashed potatoes and gravy. Simply delicious. Parking is tight but it’s worth the hassle for the food.
Tim Hickory
Don't let the higher than average prices scare you. You will get delicious food great service and definitely feel like you're in a New Orleans local restaurant. We had the chicken shrimp and okra gumbo which was the best I've had at any local restaurant here. Not spicy hot just well spiced. The only thing they didn't serve it with French bread on the side, just some bun that was possible. Also, we had the fried catfish with the spaghetti and red gravy as a side and it was excellent. It's definitely worth coming out of the French Quarter and out of your way to get really good, local authentic food. Can't wait to come back.
Oh and Gents, check out the men's room and be thrown back into the past. Don't step in the ice!
Arthur Jameson
I loved the gumbo. My friend got a hamburger that was HUGE. The beans and rice were pretty decent, too. The smoked sausage with beans and rice was DELICIOUS. I actually can’t get over how good the sausage was. The flavor was amazing!!! Apparently the gumbo they make here is gluten free...I was told by a friend. We picked Liuzza’s because of the gluten free options.

I just moved to New Orleans 5 weeks ago and FINALLY got to eat here. Had I had to wait 5 more weeks, I'm in love!
So delicious! I love it! Go once a week for the next year and work your way through that menu.
Today was Frenchuletta & onion rings
Raymond Laque
Well what can I say, not at all like I remember it. The new owners and staff are friendly and the menu is pretty much like it was but the old neighborhood atmosphere is nolonger present. Hopefully they will be able to make a go of it. It would be a shame to loose it all together.
Sierra Frost
I just had the shrimp remoulade salad and it was delightful with a cup of red beans. Our server was the best. A lady who knew what she was doing. Go eat some red beans and enjoy.
Douglas Cherry
Just South of City Park and North of the French Quarter in the Mid City area of New Orleans. We started with an ice cold Dixie beer and a tangy Bloody Mary. Next we ordered the boudin for an appetizer. It was delicious. My wife ordered the Frencheletta sandwich...similar to a Muffuletta but with french bread, and it was outstanding. I had the Shrimp Po-boy with Red Beans and Rice, and it was just as good. The Frencheletta was over a foot long, and it could serve two people if needed. Prices were very reasonable. The service and atmosphere were great too! Definitely need to add Liuzza's to the short list of places to eat when in New Orleans.
Wendy McGibboney
Food and service were decent enough. The food was pretty decent as well. The gumbo was delicious, perfect flavor. The poboys were on bread that had the thickest, hardest crust ever and the shrimp were just okay. The hamburger steak was good, lots of thick brown gravy...However, the restrooms are totally disgusting and whatever you do, don't look in the kitchen. Honestly, after seeing the kitchen, I can't believe we even ate there. It was pretty bad. I've seen Taco Bells with cleaner kitchens. Bleh. Probably won't go back. The dark, dingy, dirty looking kitchen was enough to make me not want to go back.
David Verdina
Their supposed Italian red gravy is this very very dark red substance that is strong tasting. As a hole-grown New Orleans Sicilian they need to rethink their gravy recipe. Second I ordered the veal parmesan panne and they brought me the veal
Parm with pasta. I waited so long I just ate it. Overall, it’s a good restaurant but I won’t order anything that comes with their red gravy.
Scott Edwards
We have passed by this place for years going and coming from Katie's. Finally stopped and it was sooooooooo worth it. Onion rings are mandatory and they didn't disappoint. The other key is you can get any drink in a giant frozen goblet 1/4 a fried chicken side of red beans with slaw could feed a small army. Meatball sandwich was gooey goodness very reasonable prices and the portions are huge.
Chris Hanes
Best lasagna we've had in a long time! Glad we stopped in as we weren't quite sure where to eat lunch today but stumbled upon this place on Google Maps.
The poorboys (their spelling, not mine) we're good but a little pricey for what you get. But the Italian entrees are a large portion with salad and bread included, well worth the price.
Make sure to get yourself a drink in one of their ice cold, frozen mugs! I had a red cream soda and it was delicious, though the put ice in it. Not sure why you need ice in a frozen mug other than to take up space and need less soda?
It's a little small inside, so be prepared to wait during peak hours.
All in all, a great little Italian spot.
Bill Cheatham
Sooo good... since 1947 they have been serving excellent New Orleans Cajun/Creole and Italian cuisine.
I started off with the infamous “Bushwacker”- coffee liqueur, rum, & créme de cacao. Kind of like having your dessert first.
We then shared some of their famous “giant” onion rings... which were excellent! My wife and I split the “Frenchuletta” which is pretty much a muffuletta on French bread. It was so rich and wonderful especially with Michael’s special olive salad.
Staff is great, atmosphere is awesome... complete with an awesome jukebox.
Truly one of New Orleans great neighborhood restaurants... hidden in plain sight. 😎👍
MICHAEL J SHORT
Red Gravy. You heard it here. Get it! It’s a staple. Pour it on everything. Try the Veal. If not the chicken parm. If not get the fried “ersters” Poboy. Or the roast beef. Don’t forget to have a big frozen mug of beer or root beer! It’s all good here!
Daren Carter III
Charming old school Italian New Orleans place with $5 frozen goblet Abita beers. Olive lovers need to try the Frenchuletta sandwich on french bread! Locals love this place. Great gumbo and fried seafood.
Ed Negrotto
Great food, good drinks. They've got a bushwacker machine behind the bar. This place is a New Orleans institution.
Lacey Fitts
Great food, frozen beer mugs, chill atmosphere.
Brandon Barrett
Liuzza's is one of my favorite New Orleans restaurants. It's hard to beat the frenchaletta but if you're in the mood for something else, anything with roast beef, the spaghetti with red sauce or the red beans and rice. Be sure to get mustard greens on the side and an ice cold draft beer in a frosted glass.
Jerome Wilson
Awesome local resturant, best food in Mid City...The service is excellent..Clean Restrooms, Cv19 Sanitizer, Social Distance City Rules Followed...
Robert Cook
Excellent Frenchuletta, meatball sandwich, red beans and rice, and cold schooner of beer. Cool old school joint.
N Mackie
Shrimp po-boy never disappoint. Hand cut fries yum. Hot Sausage was overcooked and the chef didn't drain the oil so the bread soaked of grease.
Edna Jackson
We were just there. It was great. Lyman had the liver and onions and I had the panned pork chops. Awesome. Best waitress ever Lola. Will be back soon.
Lisa Poche
Great service and food. Blue moon beer in a frozen mug!!! Shrimp dressed with onion rings. Perfect lunch!
Nicole McNey
We had the absolute best time / food at Liuzza’s! Completely unexpected stop and will without a doubt be back on our next trip.
Brandon Harder
As much as we enjoyed the food, we enjoyed the service and atmosphere even more. A rare humidity-free New Orleans evening made it a perfect meal outside under the trees.
Desiree Robinson
I have gone to Liuzza's three times and I have always left pretty satisfied! The prices have a great range, so it's good for a group. The portions are large enough (for me) to bring some home, which is a plus. My favorite is the mustard greens with ham and potatoes! I am likely to go again!
Bryan
Cool place, a lot of history. The host who sat us explained really thoroughly when we inquired about vegan options. Tables for 4 people were a bit tight, would recommend calling ahead and putting 2 tables together. The Frenchuletta was one of the best things I've eaten in my life, especially with a beer in a frosted mug on the side. Tourists...Get off the beaten track and try it.
Chris Davis
This was a good restaurant for our group. Food was a good taste of New Orleans and the atmosphere was good.
Melissa Miller
Great service, the bartender was very helpful and nice. It's a family owned business, they have an employee who has worked there many years and you can tell she enjoys her job and she definitely doesn't tolerate cursing in the bar. My lasagna was good, but my dtr did not care for the fried seafood or the gumbo.
Bill Henriques
I have been going to Liuzzas for over 30 years and it is one of my favorite places to go in New Orleans. It is casual and friendly with excellent service. They are known for their Italian and seafood dishes but recently have begun to infuse more healthy alternatives. You must try their roasted beet salad it has become one of my favorite dishes. Their oysters are fried to perfection and their seafood in general is amazing. Their jambalaya has a hint of a smoky taste to it and their red beans are rice are some of the best in the city. Get their onion rings as they are worth the splurge. I have never had a bad meal at Liuzza's. Shhhh don't tell...
Ronnie Greco
Always great food. Best onion rings, always hot. Grilled pork chops very good. Open face roast beef can easily be shared. The fresh mustard greens are the best. And of course the cold draft 🍺 beer. Make it a point to visit while in town. …
Jacquelyn McDuffee
Delicious food, friendly servers and nostalgic atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place!
Jacobina Tiani
Amazing po'boys, great selection of food on the menu. Great staff, and service!!!
Alex Wachenfeld
I grew up eating here with the famous Frenchalatta and A frozen mug with Abita amber 🍺.Shrimp artichoke soup and seafood gumbo are also amazing! …
Karla Petrovich
It was delicious. We enjoyed our drinks and the special with spinach app.
Bishop D. Stevens, Sr.
Ordered the gumbo which was pretty good. Also had the shrimp and catfish platter. My boys ordered shrimp po boys with onion rings and fries.
The service was good, we went around 4. There looked to be two servers and the gal who helped us was nice and helpful. The food came out hot and fresh and we didn’t have to wait long at all.
The only thing, the fried foods weren’t very seasoned...I really wanna say they weren’t seasoned at all. Everything fried came out beautiful. Nice and crispy and cooked to perfection...but tasteless. My fish as well as shrimp were bland. Too bad.
Other than that, the restaurant was cool.
SAL FERRARA
Had Red Beans, not great! Serving size small! Not much flavor! New owners better be careful!!!
Marcus Fryer
What a perfect place to come for lunch! Great beer, huge frozen glass, and very tasty roast beef. Friendly service and fast. Love it.
Doug Ford
Very Italian restaurant in the heart of New Orleans with the best eggplant parmesan and meatball pasta!
Michelle Maronge
Always welcoming and cozy and great staff. The food is consistently yummy and when I crave the pannee pork and fettuccine, this is my go to. Sit at the bar and enjoy the freezing cold mugs and hot food!
kathy vendrig
Good service, very good "Frenchaletta", jambalaya. Hurricane was not great:(
PHILIP FINKLE
Great locals bar with good drinks food and service. Nothing fancy just good
Michael Hays
Very tasty! Started with some onion rings, date insisted, she said they were the best, but I'm not a big onion ring fan, so not a fair judge. But the chick Parm was absolutely bomb! The sauce and breading were perfect, and just crisp enough that it held up without getting soft. Loved it
Helen Page
Kris our waiter was so friendly and helpful with recommendations! The fried green tomatoes were great! Loved the homey atmosphere and enjoyed my dinner!
J morgan
Lunch was fantastic. From poboys to salads to appetizers everything was fresh and was very tasty. The servers made sure that each guest was taken care of and wanted for nothing. This will be a "must visit" any time we are IN new Orleans
Alyssa Carter
The great reviews got my attention. On our first visit we each had the 1/2 Po' Boy and gumbo combo. Wife had fried oysters and I had fried shrimp, both were delicious! We didn't have room for dessert! It was so good we went back the next day. This time we shared a bowl of the gumbo, again delicious, and a fried green tomato Po' Boy with shrimp remoulade. Outstanding! I was stuffed but the wife wanted bread pudding. Lucky for me they were out! We'll have to go back for the pudding. On both visits I had an Abita Amber in a frosted mug. Very nice. The servers were excellent as well.
Donna Mastri
Small older resturant. Our waitress wasn't too friendly. I had shrimp & artichoke soup with a cream sauce 🥣 it was delicious! The shrimp poy boy roll was too hard which made it difficult to eat. There was hardly any shrimp 🦐 in it, very disappointed.
Vikki Rambo
Food is good and drinks are better than expected. Service is great as the staff love their job. I enjoy every meal I have had here but recommend their Italian dishes. This is a neighborhood place that brings the goods! Their bread is amazing! It could be a 5 star place if the location was better, but the food is worth the trip! Always a great meal and their gumbo is banging. Chicken, sausage and shrimp in a great roux base with good blend of trinity!
Beth Vecchio
We had planned to go to the resturant on the next corner but it had a long wait. Stumbled upon Liuzza's. Sat outside. Lovely server, made excellent suggestions. I got the veal parm. So yummy, but skimpy on the veal. Lots and lots of pasta and bread. Went with 6 woman. No complaints. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Seemed fairly priced and was not bar food.
Christy Wegmann
This place has got awesome food. If you are ever in New Orleans, you must stop by this place and eat. The gumbo is delicious and so is their fried shrimp. I must warn you though, there is usually a long wait to be seated during peak meal times. So, if you go, go during an off time, maybe between meals and not directly at noon or dinner time. The place is very small and can’t seat very many people, but the food is delicious. Worth the wait!
Jeannine G
The staff was very friendly and courteous. The onion rings are homemade and delicious. Our waitress had us and 2 large parties but she gave us prompt service. I had the shrimp and artichoke pasta. It contained very little artichoke and 15 or so small (possible frozen) shrimp. I think I would have done better ordering a po-boy. I've been many times and I'll go back but stick to my usual.
Laura Talley
There is not enough good to be said about this place. I want to be baptized in their red gravy. The service is as expected in a small, packed, fast dining atmosphere. Fast and short. The servers aren't going to chat you up and there are people waiting on your table. Just get something smothered in red gravy and a side of the mustard greens and the fried green tomatoes with shrimp remoulade and stuff your face with the goodness.
Arjumand Bonhomme
Great service and really good red beans & rice. They have it everyday, not just on Mondays. The smoked sausage was incredible. I've had lots of smoked sausage, but the flavor and smokiness was really deep, like a different cut of meat, sorta like steak.
W. Christopher Hammond
I live nearby and have been meaning to stop in and I sure glad I finally did. There were a numbers of locals just hanging out talking and having fun. The bartender Jen on Friday nights is awesome. Finally, I highly recommend the lasagna it was perfect! Can't wait to go back and try more of their menu.
suzanne cliffe
Liuzza's is one of those old time New Orleans neighborhood bars and restaurant. Stepping in here is like a step back in time. Giant schooners of draft beer, wonderful fried onion rings, shrimp and oyster poboys, delicious hot roast beef poboys with the BEST gravy, plus gumbo, and Italian specialties. I hope it never changes!
Matthew Hardinger
Can a boy give a 10 to a place? 5 is way too low. Frank and his team are just incredible people and a fun hang. So true NOLA in every sense. Gotta get outta FQ and hit up Mid-City and this true old school gem.
Miguel de Olaso
It was fine but pricey for what it is
Lynn Rodick
Another gem for Mid-City, kept and preserve for a couple more generations. The staff is very personable, and makes sure you have a wonderful eating experience. There is hospital down a block or so, and if there are hospital people going to a restaurant, you know it is good. Looking forward to my next visit. I had a wonderful Meatball Po-boy and green salad. Yes, they still serve you your drink in that "Big Mug". No disappointments!!
Jim Paluzzi
First time at Liuzza's. Won't be my last. Great authentic 60's style Italian American joint. Good gumbo. Tasty po'boys. Ice cold beer mugs. Friendly staff. A real family feel. Love it!
Ryan Altobello
Liuzza's is an OK place. Old joint with a family feel. Beer served in a large frozen mug. The Italian side of the menu is pretty good. The southern/fried side of the menu, unfortunately, is not. The batter they use, while good texturally, has no flavor, as its not seasoned at all, which makes for bland food. If you want Southern, New Orleans-style food, I'd opt for elsewhere.
Stephen Moon
The same good place that I ate at 35 years ago
Emily Smith
It was good. We were the last table of the day so they were out of a lot of stuff but, overall the food was good.
Richard Korte
Good food and service was fairly good.
Meredith Jensen
Just stopped by today for the first time, for a fried green tomato poor boy with shrimp and remoulade, it was amazing! Service was quick and friendly. I can't wait to come back! Thanks for the great grub!
Selena Hunt
Highly appreciated getting a side salad that was more than iceberg lettuce, and dressing was spot on. Everything was fresh and delicious, and we were very pleased with kids portions sizes. It's hard to choose when there's so much amazing food in Nola, but we were very happy with our choice to dine here.
Juan Carlos Coéllar Reyna
This is a good place to try some popular New Orleans dishes, like gumbo. The restaurant has an interesting and pleasant decoration and I saw no tourists, only locals! The waitress was very friendly and answered all my questions in a good mood.
Patsy Campbell
We always come away happy with our food. The iced schooners of beer (or soft drink if you wish) start the whole experience off right. The waitresses are pros and can really handle large groups. Great place!
Michelle Patterson
Great place! Great New Orleans classic! My family's been eating here for years! Great New Orleans food. Had red beans last time, yummy! Frenchuletta is fantastic! And the root beer in big frosted mugs and onion rings are amazing!
Psychotic Cyborg
Absolutely love this restaurant. My mother is a Tarantino, so we fit in very well. Last time we visited, we got to meet some of the leaders of the Mafia, they had their names imprinted on signs on their chair and everything. Great food and service, the music was nice and they can serve lots of people at once.
Lenda C Brewer
Fantastic every time! Cozy atmosphere, delicious authentic food. Fresh, made to perfection. Great variety that its so hard to decide which dish tonight. Staff is always welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable You can't go wrong.
Eerike' Kamuvaka
Some of the best service I've had in a while. Extremely affordable, considering the location. The Gumbo is to DIE for!!!
Alicia jackson
One of the very few places to eat in New Orleans that hasn't changed in 50 years!! The food is great. The onion rings are still the old fashioned hand dipped ones I remember and loved! The muffalata poboy is to die for! Still serve beer and root beer in those big frozen mugs too. We eat here every time I come back home and it never lets us down!!
Kris Clulee
If you can't find something to eat here, shame on you. Great selection of Italian food, seafood to many different poorboys. The open face roast beef is one of my favorites.
Also they have the coldest beer on tap, served in frosty mugs. Can't come here without getting one, or two of them.... Mmmmm
Always friendly and helpful staff. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.
Melina Calmon
This is seriously one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans. The food is simply fantastic and the portions are massive! Their home drink is delicious and big as well. You can from Italian to Cajun and everything on the Menu is absolutely delicious.
Margie Vicknair-Pray
Wonderful as always. Had to get their fried will pickles as this is the first place I ever ate them, many many years ago. Delicious gumbo chock full of shrimp and chicken! Fried oysters and chicken salad - hmm!
Stephen Simmerly
Outstanding New orleans establishment! Owned and operated by Outstanding people!! A MUST STOP AND VISIT RESTAURANT AND BAR!!!
Kurt Valvis
One of my favorite's, you can get pretty much anything on the menu and expect it to be 1) Delicious 2) plentiful and filling. I've had several dishes there, and I've loved each and every one of em. I'd recommend any of their pastas, they won't disappoint.
Matthew Wilson
Young lady behind the bar had just started. And she knocked it outta the park. Good neighborhood spot. Great food. Cold beer.
Maida T Torres
I've eaten here many times over the years. Most recently, yesterday. It never changes! It's cozy but not clostrophobic. The staff are friendly and efficient. The place is casual. The foid is excellent. The menu has somethig for everyone. The prices are very reasonable.
I love it !!
Ainsley Freshour
Always awesome!!! This time, we went as a group of 17, so I had my doubts. But, Liuzza's pulled it off!!! Recommend the stuffed artichoke, the shrimp and artichoke soup, the lasagne, the frenchuletta, and the panne baby white veal with fettuccini Alfredo!
Shawn Plep
I love to go here. This is a place you don't hear about often, and that's probably good - because it's been packed many evenings when we've gone. This place has some good Italian food, huge beers, and neighborhood charm. You can't go wrong and won't leave hungry.
marion albares
I was looking forward to lunch at Liuzza's but was a little disappointed! I had the fried eggplant poboy which I love. Their version was a bit bland. I normally don't eat marina sauce so I expected the sandwich to be tastier than it was.
Mindy Bond
Food was ok not great. Service could have been better. When they brought our food he knocked over my water and soaked my purse. Took forever before he mopped
Kfr Newpage
All good and $3 good Bloddy Mary's Sunday.
Steve
The food is down home and excellent. I had the roast beef po-boy sandwich with a side of olive salad.. it was delicious but so filing i was able to save half for a late night snack
Patrick Dahnert
Place was great. We ordered food to go and when we went in, we liked the atmosphere so we ate at the bar. There were a couple Italians at the bar drinking. We felt like we were in the Sopranos. Loved it! Food was good.
Dan McCune
This place was a pleasant surprise. My party of 8 was seated on Saturday night at 6:30 with no waiting. Food was great. My wife had the frenchuletta and it was about 18 inches long.
Kelly Robertson
Excellent shrimp and fries. Very friendly service. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu.
Kelly Sapp
Red beans and rice were really good. My friend got shrimp and grits and said it was delicious. Recommended by our Airbnb host.
Deb Courts-Brown
Very crowded and probably popular. It was my first time there and I didn't care for the Italian stuffed artichoke. I did enjoy the fried green tomatoes.
Andra Wilson
A fun place with FUN staff. We ate off the appetizer menu and everything was delicious! This is a locals place still owned by the Liuzza family. Our new favorite for when we come to New Orleans.
Jerry Drain
Food is good but small portions for the price. Restaurant isn't that big, more than a party of 6 takes up a good bit of room. I recommend the fries w/gravy!
Michael Weber
Great food and atmosphere! Coldest beer in town!
Lance Lapeyrouse
I've been 3 times and it's been consistently mediocre. Last time the seafood lasagna was full of shrimp shells. The divey atmosphere is a plus, but the cash only policy is an inconvenience.
John McConnon
Stopped in with a party of 6 for a late lunch on Saturday. No wait. Food was great. Portions were large. Staff was friendly and helpful. It is a neighborhood bar / restaurant. For what it is, it could not be better.
Trey Fish
Stopped in for quick bite before Saints game. Service was great, shrimp po boy was so-so. However, 3 dollar bloody Mary special on the weekend. That's a highlight worth noting.
Maida Torres
Great, old, local bar/restaurant!
Very comfy cozy.
It never changes.
You will feel right at home in the bar or the dining room.
The service is great, the food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable.
David W
Always a great meal and The New Orleans ambiance. Had the fried pickles and a Frenchuletta. Can't go wrong!!
CC Chapman
I love the eggplant parmesan poboy so much. It's the only time I can eat an entire 12" poboy in 1 sitting.
Other highlights include the "Frenchuletta" a hot & toasty muffuletta on French bread. When you squish it oil from the olive salad oozes out. It's great! I also really like their fried chicken, spinach lougia (sauted spinach with garlic & chicken stock), and smothered calf liver entree.
Grandma Ford
The food was excellent! The place was jumping and so was the staff, they needed more waiters for sure. Great homemade flavor!
Samuel Bergeron
Onion Rings are the best around with remoulade sauce!Eggplant Napoleon is very good! Best cold beer in a goblet anywhere!
P Tomas
Nice little neighborhood restaurant. They have something they call a Frenchalada which is a twist on a muffalata except on French bread. They also have a real good stuffed artichoke. Just good food and a great experience.
Linda Curtis
The service was great and the food was delicious, and the margarita was sooo sweet to the palatable.
Scott Shaffett
Great Italian cuisine at very reasonable cost. A must attend of New Orleans!!!
It has become one of our regular stops when we go to the city.
Kate S
Great old time NOLA joint
Food Republic
We capped off our first night in New Orleans near the French Quarter at this laidback dive. They're best known for their giant iced goblets of rotating draft beers, and, what better to chase a frosty brew than deep-fried, tangy green tomatoes covered in hot, creamy shrimp remoulade. This knockout combo had me waddling out the door completely satiated, at least for day one.
Brad Venable
Locally owned and operated for decades. One of the best chicken parmesan dishes I’ve ever had. Love the atmosphere, food, drinks, and company!
Dave Kercher
One of my favorites! Off the beaten path and really a spot for locals. Anything you get will be hot and fresh. The fried pickles are a must along with a draft beer!
Jeanne Hall
It was packed and had quite a line before and following our being sat. Definitely the best "french"aletta in town. Good beer selection and served in a big frosty goblet.
Josh A
The frozen glasses, the frenchallatta (cross between poboy and muffaletta) the fresh and well crafted Italian food... it all comes together in this amazing mid-city restaurant.
Stop in and get a Bloody Mary on the way down to the Jazzfest, it's tradition for many locals to get their pre-festival fix at this location instead of the crowded one by the track.
Chad J Palardy
Birthday lunch with an old school new orleanian in an old school new orleans restaurant. Was not disappointed. I got the paneed chicken....hum bruh? Killer get over there now and get ome of them frosty mugs with an ice cold adult beverage!
Adele Tiblier
In a word - meh. It's definitely been better. Lasagna reminded me of Stouffer's with less salt. Fried catfish was flavorless. Shrimp and oyster plate was underwhelming.
William Vickery
Great meal and a great place to unwind after a long week. The bush wackers are really good on a hot day! Can't go wrong with Liuzza's!
christine lorensen
