Reviews of Liuzza's by the Track
Candace
Plenty of local flavor here. (Along with the generous portions and great service.) I will be back to check this place out again. This was the sweetest catfish fillet I’ve tasted since I moved down here. And the fried green tomatoes were clearly someone’s special recipe.
Robert Lawrence
Really hungry in NOLa but didn’t want to deal with crowds and fellow tourists. Got a rec by locals of Liuzza’s. Great idea. Good parking and fun local place. Servers were super. Good bar. We got shrimp po boy and Reuben which were great. Home cut fries were ok but not great. Go there you will like it.
Marissa Parks
Lovely hole in the wall place, recommended by a local. There is something on the menu for everyone and everything on the menu is fantastic. The BBQ shrimp poboy is *~chefs kisses 🤌🏽 ~* we also got the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, it pairs amazingly with their Cajun remoulade. This is a MUST when it comes to eating in NOLA!
Andrea F
What a great place! Set in a funky neighborhood near the racetrack, great decor. The fries are amazing as is the etouffee. Service was amazing. Would recommend to anyone.
dana tomlin
This is an old skool new orleans spot & it was hella good. I can see why they have been in business as long as they have. The food was incredible. I had a half garlic oyster po'boy with a cup of gumbo. The best combo!
Wife had the BBQ shrimp po'boy which was French bread slathered & stuffed with BBQ shrimp. It was a great dish with alot of flavor.

Been wanting to come here for soooooooo long! But when you stay in the Marigny and you are a car less world wanderer, it's a trek to get up to this neck of the woods. Nevertheless we Finally made it here so I decided to splurge and get the garlic oyster po boy, or should I say rich boy as at $19 there is nothing Po about it. I must say it was soooooooo good I ate every last fat juicy oyster bite of it even though it really was big enough to share. Cool lettuce and tomato, succulent oysters fried in just enough batter to make it crispy but not too bready. Yum! Mark got the breathtaking beef which was piled with horseradish it really tasted like prime rib on a bun. Many of the other customers were having more modest Po boys (ham and cheese etc) that still looked like generous delicious portions. Cold beers in a frosted glass? Yes please. We will be back to try the gumbo which I heard was good.

We came here August 4th, 2021. It was by random, and the reviews were super good too. First, the team here was very kind. Second, we ordered the turtle soup, and it was delicious -- tasted like a beef stew. We also ordered the seafood platter , catfish platter, duck tenders, and the gumbo. The duck tenders were breaded, and the meat inside was so flavourful. The breaded oysters, shrimp, and catfish are the bomb. So good! This was my favorite fish fry place I've ever been to.
Jay Francis
This place killed. A half oyster po-boy and a rich delicious gumbo sent me rushing to learn more about its creator, the late Billy Gruber. Just perfect dining experience. Highly recommended
Kaitlyn Setter
Try this place! You have got to stop here and get the BBQ Shrimp Poboy. I have no idea whats in the sauce that makes it so good but they're doing it right! Its a small place so get here early with no frills, feels like your corner bar.
Hannah Rodriguez
LOVE this place! Had the chicken sandwich twice, really good both times. Family members had gumbo and tuck tenders which were also SUPER good Great service and good food, would highly recommend!
Louie Playford
Excellent food and friendly service. Highly recommend the BBQ Shrimp Po Boy and the Crawfish Etouffee. Very unassuming causal place that was just my style
Pablo Arias Mora
Excellent Food ! Tried a Chicken Poboy and a Blondie a la Mode as desert, no regrets ! Will for sure come back !
corpus FUSION
Highly recommend this restaurant to tryout. It's not touristy or gimmicky either. It's real classic Creloe Cajun food. It's a little out of the French Quarter b it it's 100% so worth it.
I came here for their Gumbo and I got exactly what I came for. It was so delicious and has so much flavor and texture, can't get that in the French Quarter.
If your coming from out of town and really want real Cajun food, eat local and you're get a better food experience and travel experience too.
Quinn B
Low-key joint with friendly staff and great food. I highly recommend the garlic oyster po'boy. Oysters were crisp outside and juicy inside on a garlicky roll that holds together but isn't too chewy. My better half had the Breathtaking Beef and recommended it highly (three napkins, so you know it's good).
Isaac Garrison
I love this place and this area of new Orleans. Very OG. Garlic oyster poboy and gumbo were awesome.
A Johnson
Great eatery located in a quiet neighborhood. The bbq shrimp po'boy was buttery, savory, and delicious. Shrimp were perfectly cooked and firm without being rubbery, and the bread was soft, with a flakey crust. Portions are good and prices are very reasonable. They also have a nice selection of local beers. Definitely a local's place that makes guests feel welcome.
Rhonda Magee
Liuzzas was delicious! I had the hot chicken sandwich, YUM! We also tried the day's special of broccoli and cheese rangoon that came with a homemade ranch and it was tasty as well! The menu is small and is the place but definitely worth a revisit!
Charlie LaRock
This is my favorite resturant in the city. Everything is delicious. The staff there is great. Get there early for lunch cause it will get crowded. FIVE STARS ALL DAY!
Sarah Holmquist
Excellent, followed recommendations of waitress & shared plates with our group of 3 adults & 3 kids. Single bathroom had the kids waiting on our road trip, but wonderful downtown New Orleans atmosphere, regulars, & food. We had the Gumbo, Roast Beef, & BBQ shrimp.
Mitchell Thibodeaux
So I live 2 hrs away but there is nothing like the experience of a bbq shrimp po boy. You cant have that without a bloody mary to wash it down. There is no other experience like it. It may just be me but I fall into a heaven like trance. And it's a regretful disappointment when you take the last bite. If you visit new orleans, you must try it. Life will never be the same.
Dan Cantone
The BBQ shrimp po'boy was the best you'll ever eat, and you have to have the gumbo and the crawfish etouffee. You definitely need to go here when you're in town.
Yidou Wan
The food was amazing! I ordered the fried oysters Po’boy. Boy, it was good. Big size and juicy. The only thing that I think they could improve would be the cleanness of the place, especially in the restroom. But again, it’s a bar, so it’s understandable.
Alexander Zuberbühler
This place is just amazing! Local spot with amazing food and great atmosphere. No matter what happens during your stance in New Orleans, but don’t leave without visiting this place. By far the best Creole Gumbo ever!!
Lisa Poche
Good service, good food!!!! Ordered a hot sausage po boy, shrimp dressed and fries!! Bloody mary, yum!!!
James Lai
It took a little while for me to get my to-go orders, but I definitely loved the Turkey PoBoy Sandwich I ordered. Without mayonnaise (cause I personally don’t like mayo so I asked them to not add it) one would think it would be really dry, but it was actually really good and very refreshing (with the lettuce and tomatoes).
The Real French Fries were also really good! Definitely a go for!
Ramon Billescas
Good food, great gumbo. Close pretty walk to a nearby cemetery if that’s on your list to do.
Eduardo
The gumbo was good; different, herbaceous. I'm not a big fan of fried green tomatoes, but theirs is definitely the best I ever had. It was a big part, with four small children and we had a couple of people waiting on us. I didn't get the gentleman's name, but he and Casey (sp?) were outstanding. I would go back in a heartbeat just for the staff.
Doug
Great service and really good chicken po boy. The only reason they don't get a 5 star review is they ran out of roast beef and that's the po boy I really wanted
Jeremy Lesser
Awesome food, awesome neighborhood! Had the oyster po boy and it delivered on everything I wanted. Feels like a place not catered to tourists, and that made it even better!
Forrester Barry
The bbq shrimp po’boy was not what I expected & one of the best damn things I’ve ever eaten in my life. Holy moly!
Mark Clark
One of the best of the fest. Liuzza's always delivers. Great staff, food, atmosphere + more.
Ryan Rossell
The ultimate go to for a post hangover meal in New Orleans! Service was great, food was great, and drinks were great. What more could you ask for???
Alix Jamison
My husband and I headed here after an afternoon at the NOMA. Unbelievable po'boys. I had the fried oyster with a garlic butter sauce that was one of the best things I've ever eaten. My husband had the roast beef. Grab some beers and enjoy the best meal. Staff is very friendly. Even though this is a local place, staff and patrons made us feel like we were at home. Thanks for a great New Orleans experience!
Tim Hickory
Very good gumbo & fried catfish. Gumbo was some of the bet I've had in years, a bit pricy but you can fill up on the mountain of French bread served with the gumbo.
Michael Okendo
Oh man what you see there is amazing. A barbecued shrimp po-boy better be on your list. Service was really nice and the place was packed. I absolutely loved it. The place was clean in the bartender was nice. We had an overall great experience. Probably the best shrimp po-boy I've had yet here in New Orleans
Tanya Ty
Amazingly tasting food! You have to try almond crusted duck tenders, crawfish etouffe(my favorite) , chicken endouvel soup and portabella mushroom salad, they make their own awesome dressing for that. If you are a tourist it's totally worth it to go off French quarter and visit this place on the way to Central Park.
eliza berberick
SO MUCH YUM. All y’all, we tell you to come eat here because this is where WE eat.
Save your eating at chain restaurants and your fast food places for when you get home. You came to New Orleans to experience New Orleans; so come here, to Liuzza’s by the Track. And come eat with us.
🙏🏼
kristi graves
We love it here, small neighborhood feel, excellent food, very capable staff that are friendly and do their job well.
K R Barron
What a great neighborhood find! The "barbecue" poboy was amazing, albeit not what I was expecting. A more apt description would be the best lemon shrimp poboy I've ever had. Will definitely come back. Delicious
Jason
Had the breathtaking beef which was just OK. Beef was difficult to taste and the horseradish overpowering.
The oyster and garlic oyster po boys were a hit though and better than parkway as per my travelling group.
Gumbo was a watery take (more soupy) but damn delicious.
The 1/2 po boy and cup of soup def the best value.
B. Heru
lot of price for a little sandwich.
stopped by luizzas because my normal spot was closed, and i was hoping to have a backup spot.
for the price i expected a larger sandwich, but it def was an 8 or so incher.
it also lacked flavor, no real seasoning to back up the bang for my buck.
to each their own, so I won't "yuck" someone else's "yum".
Trent Dang
You classic old school po boy and creole neighborhood joint made famous by its promixty to jazzfest and their bbq shrimp po boy which is unique to them. Worth a trip out of the quarter to get some local flavor, literally and figuratively.
Jack CLE
One of the best places I visited in NOLA, had the bbq shrimp poboy, incredible, but the staff was amazing, sat at the bar talked the bar tender what a great place.
Kessashun Arthur
This is a humble little place to grab some excellent cajun cuisine. It's obvious that it's a local favorite by the crowds they attract. They have bar seating, a few televisions, and a moderately-sized dining room. The barbecue shrimp po boy is their signature dish and I'd highly recommend trying it. No matter what you get, you can expect some good old-fasioned, hole-in-the-wall, greasy cajun food that'll satisfy every taste bud you have. Liuzza's by the Track is worth going out of your way for!
Cathie Weaver
Yum! Fried green tomatoes and gumbo were delicious!
My kids loved their poboys and catfish plated.
My only regret... getting a to go order and not remembering to order dessert!
Paul Hernandez
Most amazing food ever. The gumbo and etouffee soup are so good. The Shrimp po' boy is so good. Don't judge the food by the bldg. Just saying
Pang Van
Overall, tasty food. Duck tenders, gumbo, garlic oyster poboys great. Chicken grilled poboy a bit dry without the mayo. Fries are long and fresh cut to order. Sad that they had no shrimp on a Saturday night for fried shrimp poboys. Every night the whole bar watches Jeopardy. Very fun neighborhood place.
Evan Marks
Ordered Take-out from here last week--Shrimp & Oyster Po-boys. The joint has a nice leisurely neighborhood feel. The food was ok, but didn't seem in line with the price (about $60+ for 2 sandwiches, 2 sides and a dessert, no drinks). At that price, I'm expecting "great", but it didn't meet that bar.
I'd be inclined to give another try, but I'd make it a point to eat there, rather than take it out.
Kyle Neely
Excellent service and the roast beef po-boy with gumbo combo was a tasty great deal.
Steven Hooper
Gumbo was amazing, but they ran out of the specials and limited items. Limited seating very packed.
James Peck
Had the Breathtaking Beef with a side of fries! Awesome sandwich! Just enough horseradish! The fries were excellent! You can tell they were fresh cut and prepared! Great atmosphere! Must visit!
John Rubenstein
Super friendly, unassuming place tucked away in a neighborhood. Delicious gumbo! Great duck tenders.
Linda Mason
Great neighborhood restaurant, lovely menu loaded with comfort food, wonderful service...one of my happy places
Ahmad-Rauf Hardy
The food made me want to cry happy tears. I visited N.O. for the first time in over six years. The gumbo, etouffe, and hot sausage po'boy were phenomenal. We had the bread pudding for desert. Everything was amazing including the service. I can't wait to visit again!
Kenneth Grant
This place was packed. The servers were nonstop. I suggest the BBQ shrimp po boy. Tons of shrimp.
Christina A
Quaint bar. BBQ shrimp poyboy was delicious. Dessert was the New Orleans ice cream sandwich.
Megan McMahon (Fionlaigh)
I'm so glad we listened to the reviews and tried this place! Bloody marys were excellent, breathtaking beef sandwich was incredible, and the BBQ shrimp poboy was to die for! I also recommend the gumbo for an appetizer. Truly a great lunch!
Linh Nguyen
Shrimp bbq and roast beef were so good, don't leave without trying them. Crawfish etouffe was solid as well. Flavorful and not too salty like a lot of other places. A short walk from NOMA, totally worth the trip out of French Quarter.
Trevor Acy
Home of my favorite "sandwich" on the planet - the BBQ Shrimp poboy. Also, great gumbo and gauntlets of Abita.
Amber Moore
Delicious food!!! The location is in a great area with other cute shops. I got the gumbo and the potato salad, both of which I highly recommend! The service was prompt and the wait staff was excited to give advice about New Orleans.
John Page
A little pricey for the neighborhood but good food and cold beer. Had a fried shrimp po-boy and it was excellent. Will visit again
Cinnder
Looks like just a bar, but the food is amazing and everyone was ultra friendly. Had turtle soup and their specialty: shrimp po'boy.
yogesh pawar
All of us ordered barbecue shrimp pro boys and it was one of the best sandwiches that we ate. We loved the po boy and it is a must try in New Orleans. The sauce was really good. Parking was a hassle and service was not very good, for example, our waitress did not even bother to clean the table or wipe the water that she spilled on our tables. Also She did not give us straws or did not even come back to check on us. I do not want to ruin my ignorance so I prefer to ignore but my wife was really affected. Just ignore and go there for food, really good sandwiches.
Murray Technician
Nice people. More of a pub feeling here the food was typical portions. If your looking for a heap of shrimp and bread the BBQ shrimp sandwich. Be aware the BBQ is not typical more of a curry setup. If you want a more rounded sandwich order the garlic shrimp. That is breaded and fried with a salad on a roll. Other diner with me regretted the sandwich and just wanted a bigger bowl of gumbo but was already full.
P.s. Parking can be an issue curbside seems to be the quick option.
Maryanne Cerise
We love, love, love Liuzza,'s by the Track.
You walk in and it's like going into a place like Cheers in Boston, with the best food ever. Where they might not know your name but when you leave you feel like your special. My Husband loves the corned beef, but it so popular they do run out. Anything on the menu is fabulous. So go in, belly up to the bar or sit down at a table and for sure you will be back. My mouth is watering as I post. Don't miss out on this gem in New Orleans.
Jonathan Fadok
Excellent local spot for poboys, gumbo, and more. The BBQ shrimp poboy is a must. Also, their fries are hand cut and amazing. Wash it all down with a cold, frosty goblet of beer. There is plenty of street parking when it's not festival.
Louis Bartels
Awesome neighborhood spot with a great menu and cold beers. Bartenders/waiters are fun and nice.
Mike McClure
Best gumbo in NOLA! The place is very local, “greasy spoon.” But, the flavors of all their food is spectacular. I’m in love.
Ron I forgot
Super great place to eat or drink. Best staff in New Orleans.
Brittany Beckham
Hands down best shrimp Étouffée. Better than Acme in my opinion. Garlic oyster poboy was very good as well. Bread was crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle, oysters weren't drowning in sauce or overly breaded.. I highly recommend this be a stop that is off the normal New Orleans path.
Noah Berland
Amazing, I can't claim to have good comparison, but great. If they have the softshell crab, get it, if they have cream cheese pecan pie, get it.
Marshall Sheldon
A great destination during racing season. Great cocktails and poboys. An absolutely phenomenal place to stop by after a day at Jazz Fest with lots of music outside and a good cocktail to cool off with after a long day at JF.
Liliana Saavedra
We ordered the signature poorboy, gumbo and fried shrimp poorboy. Everything was great, the gumbo was the best I have had in New Orleans, the shrimp poorboy amazing, the signature shrimp poorboy flavor was great however I am from Florida and had no idea it was smothered in sauce, the flavor and texture of the shrimp were great however, my preference In a sandwich is to have my bread dry.The service superb the staff is so nice and accommodating. Will be back before we leave.
Todd Smith
One of my absolute favs in New Orleans. The gumbo and 1/2 garlic oyster po boy combo is the best!
Ray Rodriguez
The food was great. Nice servers, but service was a little slow and it wasn't busy.
Scott Kleeman
A diamond in the rough. We ate several incredible po'boys and they were just that...incredible. The gumbo was also top notch.
Alice Edwards
Excellent po boys on the way to the Sculpture Garden! Try the shrimp or roast beef.
Pauly Boy
The best gumbo in town. I stop here every time I’m in New Orleans just for it.
Justin Hare
We come here every time we visit New Orleans and it is the best, always! It's such a great little spot that I didn't even want to leave a review out of ours selfishness! Their specialty BBQ shrimp poboy is out of this world good.
Greg Kopish
This is a nice little spot. On the small side, with eight or so tables and seating at the bar. We had bowls of gumbo (delicious) with a side of garlic bread. We may return sometime to try their po'boys.
Ruslan Philadelphia
just great place, love the gumbo crawfish ettoufee and almond duck tenders
Frank Valls
One of the few of these establishments still left in the city. Highly recommended.
John Sarge
Consistently good poboys & gumbo at a greatneighborhoodplace. A regular stop when we visit the Big Easy.
Edgar Baron
Food is always great here...I had the gumbo and BBQ Shrimp Poprboy...PURE AWESOMENESS!!! Food came out relatively fast for rush hour lunch.
Louisa Buford
Excellent meal here-came with some locals or would have never found it.
Frank Ciuffetelli
OK, so I went with high expectations, there are certainly many other places that make a significantly better BBQ shrimp than here. It seemed like they made a brown roux, added shrimp, which were nice, and a lot of black pepper and that's their version of BBQ shrimp. Other than the black pepper, there really wasn't any other flavor. The French bread was nice, as well as the presentation. I really wanted it to be better, but not today. Fried Sweet Potatoes, were good.
Bob Bolin
They didn't have my usual Reuben so I was forced to order something else I really like - the BBQ Shrimp Poboy. OMG! It was delicious. I also got the gumbo...one of my favorites in the city. I also brought home a new item in the menu...Rangoons -essentially tiny spicy meatpies in puff pastry. They are a wonderful bite.
L. Marie Manning Bridges
As always the atmosphere is neighborly, which is good. The food was pretty tasty; however, we had to add seasoning to the red beans. This was my first time ordering beans there, so that was a little surprising. I will definitely be back.
Travis G
Delicious crawfish etouffe and the staff is very friendly and fast. I’ll be back next time I’m in the city!
Andrew Vuong
Liuzza's may be my favorite poboy spot I've found so far. Less commercial than Parkway or Parran's or Mahoney's, Liuzza's feels like where the locals go and is incredibly homey. Service took a while and they were out of gumbo, but the garlic oyster poboy made it all worth it. I also had a bite of the breathtaking beef and it was also fantastic. This may be my new go-to poboy spot.
Malcolm Ridings
Gumbo and fried chicken Po boys were great atmosphere was good too.
L G
Small place but lots of character! There were a lot of "locals" there when I was- to me that's a good sign! The barbecue shrimp po boy did not disappoint! It was fantastic! The staff was very friendly! Can't wait to go back!
Angela Winfield
I had the rueben and my mom had the oyster poboy. TOP TIER. both were perfect. tons on construction going on right now (11/21) but parking was a breeze. indoor & outdoor seating. super nice staff.
Chris Kobdish
Best Po' boys and red beans and rice of our trip.
Christie S
My favorite place in New Orleans! The roux the gumbo is made with is dark and rich in flavor that I can't get enough of. I've tried other po boys there but the one that tickles my tastebuds is the BBQ Shrimp (no it does not have bbq sauce on it like you put on ribs for those of you that aren't from here), it's like an open face sandwich with a bunch of shrimp, seasonings and this sauce that you could just tip the plate into your mouth and drink its THAT GOOD.
PavelQR
Delicious as always! Good ambiance! Nice staff!
Chuck Bennett
Menu is very New Orleans. Has the local dive atmosphere. Small place, sandwiches were good. Get the sweet potato fries. It was ok.
Jordan Graham
Solid place and solid food.
The fried duck appetizer is amazing and the corn beef sandwich will leave you craving more.
A single order of fries was good enough for the 3 people in our party.
The servers were attentive and kept the water full and the beer coming.
It's a solid place, but I can see it getting crowded quickly.
Mike Chicago
It's a nice local place. Really good food. Kind of small, good bar.
Me and my buddy sat at the bar and ordered food from Raven.
Ron got their Signature Dish of Shrimp sauteed in a New Orleans BBQ sauce and stuffed into a French bread pistollette. He said it was great.
I got the Fried Shrimp plate and a house salad. The salad was kind of small for the price, but tasted good. I liked the shrimp and cocktail sauce. The fries could have been better. The coleslaw was really good, and garlic bread too.
I'll be back to try more of the menu, but it was a good start!
Dale Robinson
super yummy! one of he best po boys I've had.
Logan Sales
5 stars all the time! Everytime! Do not ever sleep on this place make it happen! Fantastic food great New Orleans service! I found out today they make the roast beef for the po'boys in house. That's amazing! And do not forget the New Orleans style BBQ SHRIMP!
Shannah Conroy
Incredible. The BBQ Shrimp po' boy is a vision. It's honestly the best version of shrimp I've ever had. The Gumbo was also delicious. The staff were super friendly too. Please go
Rod Rodriguez
Crowded, buy delicious. The lemonade needs work. The garlic oyster po-boy was on point!
Ginger Hayes
DO NOT miss the gumbo. We each had half a poor boy with a cup of absolutely delicious gumbo. The poor boys were very tasty and the coating on the oysters and shrimp was excellent just right. This place was recommended To Us by some locals and it is a treasure not to be missed.
Sophie Campbell
soooo delicious, my favorite place for poboys, great sauces, I recommend everything, especially fried shrimp poboy though and fried green tomatoes
Michelle W
Great hole in the wall neighborhood place. If you want quintessential New Orleans go here...the BBQ shrimp poboy has been on the menu for decades and understandably so. It honestly is sinful and I might need to repent after eating it. Also, let me speak to the service - perfect timing - meaning there when you needed them and otherwise letting you enjoy the atmosphere and your group.
Allison
Good old New Orleans neighborhood spot with good food and good people.
Big Ron
Never had a bad meal. This time my son had the garlic oyster poboy and the duck tenders but we always get the bbq shrimp poboy. We never miss swinging by when we're in town.
Walter Correll
Service was great. Had the duck tenders, french fries, sweet potato fries and Cole slaw for appetizers. They were all good. My wife and sister in law had the garlic oyster poboy, I had the BBQ shrimp poboy, and my brother in law had the roast beef with horseradish. Just the right amount of horseradish according to my brother in law. The BBQ shrimp poboy 3/4 of which was filled with shrimp and more shrimp on the plate in the garlic butter sauce . 1/4 of the poboy was left for sopping up the sauce great idea. Very good poboy and lots of shrimp. All in all very good.
Wen-Ling Lu
1/2 soft shell crab po boy, 1/2 gumbo was a good combination. So delicious. Friendly service.
N K
Delicious food, friendly people and no-frill place...Gumbo is very flavorful. Oyster plate ($16) includes at least a dozen deep fried meaty oysters, fries, garlic bread and coleslaws. Love how some bar patrons were singing along the music!
Ivan Colon
My first time eating Cajun food from Louisiana and it did not dissapoint . I ordered a po,boy and it came with gumbo soup and it was DELICIOUS
Nancy Gervais
I can't say anything about the incredible food that hasn't been said already, but I can say that this is a must for locals, visitors, and anyone else who loves New Orleans. This place is New Orleans; grungy, funky, friendly, comfortable, and fun. The featured sandwiches are worth every penny and every calorie. My all time favorite is the BBQ shrimp, which has at least one full stick of butter mixed into the lemony, tangy sauce. Order an extra side of French bread so not a drop goes to waste!
Dwight Hobberechts
I had a great experience on Thursday afternoon. The service was excellent. Great local atmosphere. Customers felt at home in the restaurant like being with family. And my Ruben sandwich and sweet potatoes fries were hot and delicious. I'll be back again!
Bryan Johnson
This is the ONLIEST place that I will eat red beans from in the city that I pay for. The wait staff is a little younger now and they have lost that old school charm where the servers felt like they knew you and y'all had been friends for a long time. That said it is still a great old school eatery with that neighborhood feel.
Lumumba Moulton
Great food and drinks. An awesome experience
Steph Dobson
I am so glad the bartender recommended their BBQ shrimp po boy because that was one of the best things I ate while I was in New Orleans! It's not your traditional po boy as it was soaked in this amazing BBQ gravy like sauce, but I would still highly recommend stopping in just to try one. Loved the dive bar feel to this place as it did not make me feel uncomfortable sitting at the bar alone because of the friendly crowd.
William Bergeron
Always great food and service. Best gumbo in NOLA.
S Crumpton
Had the fried shrimp po boy and it was just ok.
Lynn Jaynes
The BBQ Shrimp Po’Boy is a party for the Tastebuds.
Jennie Farrell
Great place just a little spot in New Orleans , with a wonderful menu. I was able to eat 4 different items from the menu. The Fried Shrimp Po Boy is a must try. The atmosphere is charming and the service was also fantastic, all of this for under 20 dollars for 2.
Bills Money
The BBQ shrimp was Delicious!
We had gumbo which was very flavorful and fresh, but the garlic buttery BBQ shrimp is what stole my heart...or stomach. Most definitely, all the facial expressions and mmm mm sounds were present in my first bite and till the end.
This kind of food gives me a reason to visit New Orleans again! Thanks Liuzza's by the Track...you got my vote.
Charles Glisan
Got the hot sausage po boy, cup of gumbo, and peach bread pudding. Honestly, the gumbo was a little lacking, in my opinion. I would have preferred a darker roux and bit more spice. The po boy was fantastic - sausage was spicy and full of flavor, and the bread had that thin flaky crust with the airy and fluffy interior. The peach bread pudding was...ok. I prefer some toasty pieces of bread on the top and this was quite homogenous. Also, the pudding was probably a bit too boozy. I'd probably rate this experience a 3.5 if I could, but I can't, so I'll round up.
Stefanie Mokel
I'd say this place is much too overrated. The food was just ok and the prices nonetheless not so low. Service was fine but could be a bit more welcoming. The gumbo tasted as if it was not homemade (or seasoned with some "industrial" spice mix) - but maybe I'm wrong. The french fries were much too "oily" and not crispy at all. The sandwich's bread was not to my taste....
Adam Rogers
Great food and service! Not enough places in new Orleans do a bbq shrimp poboy anymore and theirs is delicious!
Daniel Randar
Incredible BBQ Shrimp Po Boy. At least 25 lil’ shrimps. Really friendly environment
Jamie Wibbenmeyer
Neighborhood restaurant - great food; friendly folks!
Lacey Fitts
Ordered the Garlic butter oysters poboy on recommendation of the waitress, even though I don’t love having so much bread. I ate it deconstructed and it was delicious. Partner had the barbecue shrimp poboy and loved it - the sauce was so good that I used the extra bread from my poboy to soak some up. My daughter did not love the hot roast beef with gravy - it was bland and dry, but to be fair there’s no way it can compete with the buttery garlicky gravy soaked masterpiece that I make for her at home. Other pluses were the paneéd chicken poboy and the gumbo. They only have red beans and rice on Monday, so we didn’t get to sample it. Good drink specials and a pretty walk from city park. You have to write your name on a list by the door, and then kind of watch and seat yourselves in order ha. It’s controlled chaos, fun atmosphere, mostly excellent food.
Phil Marino
Wow. Duck tenders as an appetizer. Turtle soup. Fresh roasted turkey poboy. Next time it'll be the gumbo and the BBQ Shrimp poboy. Always remember to check the special board. Enjoyed a nice long lunch with a good friend.
They no longer serve the turtle soup. darn.
Tyler Seaman
Started off with appetizers, which in my opinion were quite nice (I recommend the fried duck)! However, there are some factors that make this venture a 3-star review.
To begin, staff wasn’t quite pleasant, except for the waitress serving us, whom was very pleasant.
Next, bathrooms need better maintenance, especially the gentleman’s room. It’s small already, by there being a mess, it creates for an unpleasant break.
Finally, the staff was gambling on the machine they have toward the back of the restaurant near the bathrooms. This would normally be okay except one lady in particular, who works in the kitchen, took 5 trips to the machine amounting to a lot of money spent.
However, the food is quite nice especially the gumbo and duck!

This place is great all around. Friendly staff, stocked bar and delicious food. We had the "Signature Dish", fresh shrimp in New Orleans BBQ sauce. In addition to a oyster po-boy. Would definitely visit this place again.
Jeff Martin
This place does the most unique BBQ shrimp I've had to date. Its served poboy style in a hollowed out french loaf. It tastes wonderful! The seafood salad is nice with good house made dressings. The turtle soup is yummy. The beans and rice with local sausage is only served on Mondays. I missed it but I hear its a local favourite.
Nikky Otero
Just visiting but the atmosphere was so relaxing, ALL of the staff were super friendly, and the garlic shrimp po boy and gumbo were so amazing!
Julie Xiao
This place is a little out of the way from the French Quarter but it's worth coming up here. This is where the locals come for real New Orleans food. We ordered the gumbo and the catfish platter. The prices were decent for the amount of food you get. The gumbo is probably the best gumbo I've had in New Orleans because they cook the shrimp last so it's not overcooked. You can tell since the shrimp is on top of the gumbo when they serve it to you. The catfish platter was tasty as well. It's a bit of trek but try to check it out.
Grazina U.
New Orleans BBQ shrimp PoBoy was amazing. The best shrimp dish I had ever had! It's a very casual place in a residential neighborhood but the food is outstanding. Loved gumbo as well. This is where you should come for real New Orlean's food.
Frenchy French
The signature BBQ shrimp Po' Boy & Fried Shrimp dishes were delicious, full of flavor, well made, and decadent. If one wants to experience true New Orleans cuisine taste that rivals the likes of notable venues, one must to eat at Liuzza's by the Track for sure! Any NOLA visitor should definitely experience this spot!
Charles Chen
Amazing Garlic Oyster PoBoy and Seafood Gumbo in an unassuming location. A little bit outside the area of usual French Quarter fare, we followed multiple website recommendations that this place had the best oyster poboy. One of the tastiest sandwiches I have ever had! Make time to stop by here of you can.
Nathan Rector
Having grown up on the Louisiana/Texas border, I’ve always been a huge fan of Cajun food. My girlfriend found positive reviews of this place in a magazine so we stopped by. We got there before the lunch crowd and were waited on quickly and efficiently by the staff. My cup was never empty of tea and the food came hot and quick. The Crawfish étouffée was my favorite dish with the gumbo and famous barbecue shrimp po boy being absolutely delicious. I love the atmosphere and chatting with a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary as we shared a table in the busy cafe. We will stop by again and try to get a taste of everything on the menu.
Donald Penter
Old school New Orleans corner restaurant, bar and typical yat social club.
Andrew Groot
The BBQ Shrimp Po' Boy was one of the best dishes we had in New Orleans. Not BBQ sauce, more like a gravy (a common theme we found), but it was fantastic. Highly recommend.
Harry Mc Caul
Great bar and food joint, had gumbo and shrimp poboys, both were amazing!
Tom Wehn
Good food, great service. Ate there a couple of times during the few days I was there. Next time I'm back in NOLA I'll stop by again.
Nikhyl S
Would give 3.5 stars if I could.
Went here with a group of friends on vacation. We wanted to get away from the touristy hustle and bustle of bourbon street and try some local southern fare.
We started with cups of gumbo for all. I'll say, it was very good. If you stop by this place, get at least a cup of gumbo for yourself, you won't regret it.
I ordered a burger for my main course, it was ok. Just a standard burger, but served with cold and soggy fries.
They are known for their shrimp signature dish which I did not try. If you're coming here, I suggest you go for that or another poboy option which is more traditional southern and in their wheelhouse.
Overall, an ok place with some damn good gumbo. Need to be careful when ordering, go for things they are good at (i.e. gumbo, signature shrimp dish).
Pat Burke
Great, historic, traditional, neighborhood restaurant & bar. The staff is always friendly and efficient. The food is simple and delicious. Take time to notice what may be hiding in plain sight on the menu: duck tender appetizer; turtle soup that may rival their gumbo; creole tomato & vidalia onion salad; fried oysters - plain or tossed in garlic butter; roast beef poboy with a touch of fresh horseradish & many more. Go, enjoy this NOLA tradition.
Lando Trevissian
I only had the gumbo and a bite of a poboy, but the food was delicious. All of the staff were attentive and sincere. The place has a real neighborhood kitchen feel.
Daniel Sligar
Great place, glad I found it doing a quick search and took a chance to try it out. The food was excellent, I had the roast beef po-boy and my wife had the ham po-boy w/ gumbo. Bother were excellent. The roast beef is very tender and perfect on the sandwich. The po-boys were stuffed so full, you need a fork to clean up when you're done. Tons of locals while we were here and great staff taking care of us too. Definitely a local favorite and we'll deserved!
Kim Stanga
Friendly fast service. I've had the roast beef poboy (traditional) and the BBQ shrimp poboy (non-traditional). Both are excellent. For anyone, that may not know, the BBQ shrimp do not have BBQ sauce, because BBQ shrimp (in New Orleans) generally refers to shrimp cooked in a peppery butter sauce. The one at Liuzza's is one of the best in the city.
Imgi Mustafa
Great atmosphere and neighborhood. Great food at a resonable price and the waitress (with the tattoos) was very friendly and welcoming. This was my first visit and most definately not the last. This Westbanker (aka God's Country) have found a new home to relax, laugh and enjoy.
Julia M.
amazing! we came to NOLA looking for a local place and this was just the ticket. highly recommend! <3
Nijaal Mottley
The gumbo is really, really, really good. Some of the best I had in NO. I also had the BBQ Shrimp poboy, which I didn't really care for. The bread pudding was a kiss for me also. But the gumbo... Totally worth a visit (or 12).
Donna Ragland, REALTOR
Great local eatery. Has THE BEST Gumbo in town and THE BEST Bloody Marys. Always my first stop when I am in town and many more if I can manage it.
Great food and great service with a touch of local NOLA!
Ken Mason
This place was really good. Cool neighborhood.
Jenni Plaster
This shrimp po boy is the reason New Orleans is a destination. Bet.
Jon Donley
Liuzza's by the Track's signature dish is the BBQ Shrimp Poboy, and I would hold it up as the best in class of any similar dish in the country. A large pile of shrimp, sauteed into a savory sauce, and served in bread and spilling out. My son rejects calling it a "poboy" at all, but sopping up the sauce and hot shrimp with the bread is heaven. I've eaten at restaurants all over New Orleans, from Commander's to Emeril's to Central Market and Momma's, but this is one of the best. Gumbo is also good : )
Juliolo luque
We came by chance, and I loved the place. Loved the food and loved the people working there.
Solange Drigant
Everything was tasty but they didn't clean the shrimp properly...which is just kinda gross! Plus my husbands chicken was super dry and the price ended up being $15 more than it should have been based on the online prices. Shame because it tasted really good and the shrimp was actually cooked perfect! Small tweaks
Alicia R
Perfect lunch spot. Poboy and gumbo were spot on.
Ryan Cirilo
The most awesome BBQ shrimp pistolette (hollowed out french bread), almost like a po boy. The flavors are definitely different than most every other establishment that Ive tried BBQ shrimp, which is what makes New Orleans so unique and wonderful. Every eatery has their own take on dishes and it is what brings millions of visitors each year to this great city! Service is attentive. During lunch, one will get a hurried locals crowd trying to eat and go atmosphere. Come after the lunch rush to get the local hospitality back. Try the gumbo also. Sometimes they have the turtle soup so if they do, give it a shot.
Rachel Lopez
Luizza's has been a stop for my family for the past 14 years. Without question it is the best BBQ shrimp I have ever had (and that's saying something). The bloody Mary's are to-die-for. My husband and I just stopped by and loved the BBQ shrimp poboy, garlic oyster poboy, red beans and rice, and gumbo. The service was stupendous as usual. The spicing is so unique (first time tasting the gumbo, somehow!), and I can honestly say some of my favorite meals of my life have come from this place. DO NOT miss it!
Tracy Cheek
Awesome food and service. BBQ Poboy is the way to go.
Garland
Excellent BBQ shrimp poboy! Saw the painting puppet working during the jazzfest!
John Klein
Food will blow your taste buds away. Had the gumbo, the Crawfish etouffee, oyster po boy and the peel and eat shrimp bbq. It was all amazing every bite a gastro delight, can't wait to go back.
Zachary Bellino
Situated on a bright, leafy corner near the fairgrounds, Liuzza's has terrific service, and a classic Mid-City lunch spot feeling. The head chef was even out to say hello, and he was a real nice guy. The dining space is kind of cozy, but it's not a turn off, and it's filled with prototypically New Orleanian decor. The absolute highlight of the visit was the BBQ Shrimp Po-Boy. Less a sandwich, it's more of a plate of 60/70 ct shrimp swimming in a buttery/lemony sauce with a half sliced sub roll perched atop the pile, which is a solid sopping device for what the Italians call "fare la scarpetta," or cleaning the sauce up with bread! If you like big bites of shrimp and sausage in your gumbo, then don't miss that side and eat up! Th menu is otherwise filled with NOLA (sausage Po-Boy for instance) and American (Fries!) lunch staples presented in a straight forward (read plain) fashion, but the fundamentals of the joint are great. I'd recommend Liuzza's to anyone who wants something authentic and unfussy.
Brennan Ortiz
Cozy and homey, Liuzza's felt like dining at the neighbor's house, and the friendly staff and visitors remind you of that. The menu, simple and reasonably priced, features Creole specialties, such as the Creole Gumbo, or the Crawfish Étoufée (which was delicious!). Definitely worthwhile for casual, delicious home-style fare.
Leon Voskov
Amazing place that is definitely worth checking out. Fresh seafood and great recipes...we had a group of 6 people and everyone was blown away. I'd recommend the shrimp in butter and garlic sauce as well as the Crawfish etouffee
Teresa Spalding
We come to NOLA twice a year to drop off and pick up horses. The highlight of every trip is lunch at Liuzza's. We never miss it. The BBQ shrimp po boy is to die for. Seriously!!! My favorite restaurant in the whole world.
bill connell
The Shrimp PoBoy was to die for! The Gumbo was very very good! You cannot go wrong with either... I had both! So Good.
Jennifer L. Crandell
This is a New Orleans icon. Close to the fairgrounds. Don't get me wrong, it looks like a total dive bar but the food being serving authentic Cajun food. Known for their gumbo and turtle soul, as well as the BBQ shrimp. Yum!
Eugenie St. Pierre
Good old New Orleans food. I always get the gumbo and a barbeque shrimp poboy. One of the few places left with real New Orleans dishes. I always go here when I come home, it’s great.
matt ingram
The local joint iin NO! The food totally authentic. Great bar Best BBQ shrimp, gumbo to DIE for and Nola's very best poboys especially roast beef and shrimp. Promise, you're goanna love it!
Chris Saddler
Oh yeah, best gumbo I've had, ever. The BBQ shrimp po-boy, after eating it you will you step closer to a happy death. Don't leave this world without having one.
Bruce John
Omg everything my friends and I ordered was amazing. Staff was nice and quick to offer assistance. Brought refills quick. Very pleasant and delicious experience.
Tonja Eaton
One of our favorites! Love the cozy, everyone-knows-everyone neighborhood joint feel. Love sitting at the bar and chatting it up with the staff. Highly recommend the bloddy marys, bbq shrimp po boy and fried oyster po boy with garlic butter. Yum!
James deGenius
I ordered the shrimp po' boy with New Orleans sauce and it was fantastic. Great atmosphere as well. The only complaint I have is they have very few choices of draft beers
Terry St. Germain (All8Up)
This place is sometimes hard to find a seat in, but that's because it is GREAT! I got the Reuben today and the fries are (I guess) made in-house. They are so good I'd go back just for them.
BONUS: one of the servers played "Strutter" by Kiss on the jukebox! YES!
Rachel Lewis
Omg I will have dreams of the garlic shrimp po'boys when we leave new orleans. Sooo good! Really one of the best things we have eaten in the last few months.
paul scannell
Great poo boys and gumbo
Peach bread pudding was awesome.
Not the best to look at outside but great atmosphere and clean inside
Great staff
Passes the bathroom test
Steve John
My favorite gumbo in the city!
Irina Nola
One of my favorite places in New Orleans to eat, I am so glad they finally reopened after the lock-down. They still have the JazzFest sign on the street from 2019...
David Irthum
Great menu, excellent food & service. This is certainly a family friendly place. I go there to get the Seafood Gumbo, Seafood platter, the Alligator PO-boy,especially.
Leo Dudziak
Amazing food , great service
T. Mac.
Good food, good service and friendly staff.
Concerned Citizen
Tried the turtle soup. Tasted it prior to adding the sherry and (to me) it tasted odd. Adding the sherry completely transformed the flavor profile. Also had the shrimp po’boy and, damn, was it good!!
Charles Conti
This place used to be amazing. Now it's living office reputation. Look at the picture of the legacy dish barbecued shrimp po boy. The shrimp are glassy meaning they've never really seen high heat to sear them period they tasted that way also. Service was not very good. had to ask the waitress several times to come to our table. Hoping they actually sell the place and someone that cares about reviving historic part of New Orleans takes this place over.
Robert Anderson
Come on now, this is Liuzza's. This has been around for years. My parents took me there, and I take my kids there. Their Gumbo some off the best, as is their po boys. Do not be messing around with all these tourist traps, come to where the love is, come to Liuzza's.
Nana R
One of the Best New Orleans restaurants. A true staple in our great city.
Henry Artigue
Liuzza's is the best. Their combo plate is my favorite. Half a roast beef dressed and a bowl of gumbo.
Angela A
Delicious Southeen fried seafood and a tasty gumbo. I want to try the bbq shrimp poboy. Its a small qaint neighborhood joint with reliably tasty eats and a decent bar selection
Christopher Meyers
Very special treat, great place
Andiea Langla
Liuzza's is one of my favorite placesThe people are great the food is terrific just tried the Bon me hot sausage po boy can I tell you it is beyond delicious get over there and try it it's on special today. YUUUMMM
mikko presents
Oh yeah dawlin' this is real old school New Orleans' cuisine! Turtle soup, gumbo, messy Po Boys, all in a local place festooned with Jazz fest posters, funny signs and colorful regulars. Not pretentious, but welcoming like Grandma's house. This place is ground zero for the Fest, also Saints games, anything that Crescent City folks are invested in.
Andrew Partain (PhoenixRisen)
Recommended by our kayak tour guide, a neighborhood dive with great food.
Rakesh
My mind is blown. This was my first time ever trying a PoBoy sandwich, so I don't have a frame of reference but I can confidently say it was freaking delicious. The gumbo was equally good!
The draft beer was refreshing.
This is a small neighborhood restaurant and the staff were friendly and welcoming!
I will be going back to try their signature dish: BBQ shrimp PoBoy.
Slim
Turtle soup and bbq shrimp. Liuzza's exceeded my expectations in both food and service. Not crowded on a weekday around lunch time. Plenty of parking in the area
Aakanksha Gupta
Great service and food! Best gumbo I had in New Orleans. Also the BBQ shrimp Po Boy was delicious :)
Loup Garou
Always great food! It's a creole/seafood restaurant, not cajun as listed by Google Maps. The BBQ shrimp po-boy is the signature item and it's awesome.
Michal S
Local favorite authentic. Recommended by our Airbnb host and expectations were delivered (if not exceeded). We had a mushroom salad and a Softshell crab poboy, both incredible!
Mike Turner
A great neighborhood place to to get delicious food and a drink. Everything we've had here has been good. Definitely coming back again soon.
Cattrinna Morse
Such a quaint little eatery. The staff was friendly but above all the food was immaculate. Down to the pickles!! Cant stop thinking about the meal I had. Please give them a try.
Mark Herman
Neighborhood joint that caters to locals and tourists but not touristy. Excellent unique gumbo, unusual po-boys, etc. Not only well known NOLA celebs but visiting celebs too. Big horseracing crowd when racing season is on.
Jeremy Knight
Best shrimp poboy and roast beef I had in a long time.
Grace Kim
Get the garlic poboy. It's amazing. We went at 5pm on a Friday evening and there were no lines at all. I hear that the lines are very long during lunch time. Just keep in mind that they close at 7:30pm.
That Guy
Consistently good. Great gumbo. The BBQ shrimp poboy is amazing. Great little slice of NOLA in a fun neighborhood.
Jason Scott
This is one of the few authentic New Orleans eating joints left.
If I have friends in town, I take them here to let them know what "real" New Orleans used to be.
I'm not putting down all the new development, I know everything has to change, but I miss this kind of spot.
Long live Liuzza's!
Karen Handy
I decided for a new local poboy restaurant that was definitely New Orleans, after checking out their menu and saw Garlic Oyster Poboy, I was game!! Very NOLA friendly staff for starters, I got fries and Abita's Strawberry Lager to go with my poboy. I normally will get Swiss or bleu cheese added to my oyster BUT I AM SOO GLAD I TRIED THE GARLIC OYSTERS OMGGGGG HEAVEN!
Carmen Souhlas
Got the 1/2 sandwich ( 6") & cup (small bowl ) of gumbo. Lunch was good , but the bread crust too hard. & Cook forgot cheese on our sandwiches. Easy to find, waitress very helpful, nice atmosphere - long time neighborhood spot. We had limited lunch time and our waitress understood, she got our orders quick & served us soon after. We wanted separate checks and she was nice about that too.
We'll go back, but when we have time to really enjoy the place.
shannon ford
In my opinion, Liuzza's by the Track has the best Gumbo in the city!
Narf Cisel
Fried oysters were good. Cole slaw was excellent. Fries were a little limp. Unsweetened tea was fresh. Wait staff were quick with refills.
harold brooks
Drop in with somebody .great neighborhood place .the home made Fry's are #1. You can get the gumbo and haft poboy combo so good ..oh that is new Orleans cook gumbo ...smile
Kaylee M. Gentry
They were slammed when we were there and the "line" to get in was chaos. That being said the food was great and the workers were getting as much done as they could.
Tonya Williams
The menu is outdated with prices. However the food was excellent!
Thomas Douglass
Delightful small place that has very good gumbo and po boys. Of course the best is the bbq shrimp. A true knife and fork meal!
Robert Kessler
Friendly Staff. Excellent gumbo. Great hole in the wall. Beer selection average. PoBoys compete for best in the city.
Taryn Alexandros
Stopped in for lunch, the roast beef poboy was delicious with 'real' French fries. My friend ordered the shrimp poboy. Service was good.
zackykinzz Wombatt
Decent food, decent drinks, staff seemed depressed, could have just been the fact I had 8 people in group. Great for couples or small groups, but definitely not suitable for parties 5+
