Reviews of Joey K's Restaurant & Bar
The staff was friendly and the food was great. It gets very loud and the restrooms are only single stalls for both men and women's restrooms, so lines form quickly.
The jambalaya was incredible. The fried green tomatoes were yummy, especially with the shrimp and sauce. The gumbo was good. The trout tchoupatuilas was tasty, as well. The kids' popcorn shrimp was good in taste and quantity. All entree sizes were very generous. The blackberry cobbler is the best I've had at a restaurant.
Delicious! Our waiter was very attentive and service was quick! You walk In and immediately get a cozy home style restaurant feel. The food was delicious! Not pictured is the hamburger steak my boyfriend devoured. The egg plant as great, i wish i would have gotten it as a meal. My only complaint was the trout was just slightly over cooked. Definitely give it a try!
This is a must visit in New Orleans. If you're a foodie or just looking for a great place to eat, this is the restaurant to visit. I started with the fried green tomatoes and they were the best I've ever had. The entree was something is usually don't order but that's about to change. I ordered the trout tchoupitoulas. I was full about 3/4 of the way but it was so good I finished it. Lightly floured and topped with shrimp and crab meat, you almost can't go wrong. I highly recommend this place. Staff is friendly, dress is casual, prices are fair.
We were referred to this place by another local business and couldn’t have been happier. The appetizers, eggplant and crab beignets were phenomenal. I highly recommend the trout and for dessert the black berry cobbler, however I’m sure you couldn’t go wrong with anything you order here. Cheers to being incredibly stuffed!
The food and customer service was great! It was our first stop when we first arrived in Nola! We ordered the catfish tacos, fried chicken, and 1/2 combo shrimp po’boy and jambalaya. We also enjoyed cold beers and a magazine mule!
Great experience. Restaurant was busy but we were able to be sat immediately. Great atmosphere
Food tasted amazing - the gumbo was true Louisiana gumbo. The beignets we're more like hush puppies with a different breading, and tasted amazing! Loved it!
Got the trout - great taste and flaky. Large portion size with good amount of shrimp.
Overall great experience!
The bartender was quick and heavy on the pour that made for great drinks. Our food came out super quick and very hot. The red beans and rice were very tasty, the crab and corn bisque was amazing; however, the eggplant Napoleon was the best. The shrimp was fried to perfection and the eggplant was prepared to perfection. This is our new place to have a great time.
Overall an okay experience. Wife's salmon salad and son's catfish were good. Onion rings were cold and sauce stagnant. Gumbo was not traditional. Wasn't bad per se, but it was as if someone from the North made it.
TIP: Get the apple cobbler - see pic! Everyone at our table agreed it is the best apple pie dishany of us have ever had. It was out of this world. Apples were soft, but not mushy... perfectly cooked. Filling was not too sweet and the crust was not overdone. I would go back just to have that dessert again... no joke.
I ordered chicken fried steak. It was amazing! I'm an international student from Russia, and so far this is the best restaurant food I had in America in three years. Taste is very balanced. It's just perfect. And the prices are very reasonable
Solid downhome Louisiana cooking. The savory crab-and-corn beignets, eggplant Napoleon and jambalaya were all pretty tasty, although they lacked the last little detail that would make them truly memorable. The blackberry cobbler is so-so. Good selection of local beers. Cheaper if you pay cash.
While taking a walk through the Garden District of the Crescent City, came across this lil' gem of a place and was happily satisfied with our experience. Our waitress, Stephanie, was informative, friendly and suggested the Eggplant Napoleon. This dish was hot, fresh and very tasty! We enjoyed it from start to finish! We highly recommend to anyone who happens to be in the area!
Cool family spot in the garden district. Go early as they do run out of popular items quickly, such as gumbo bienets and soft shell crab.
Everything was full of flavor and I get why this has been on tv to show off the local food flare!
We got soooo lucky finding this place. I had the special- crab cakes topped with crawfish gravy on a biscuit. It was Aaahhhhmazing! If I could’ve figured out how to get this plate back to San Antonio with me, I’d have gladly ordered extra. My friend had the fried fish and grits. The piece of fish was HUGE, fried perfectly and was so delicious. We also had red beans and rice which was super tasty as well. I will be back! YUM! 🤤
If I could give this place 100 stars I would. We arrived a little closer to close and they still sat us and served us some of the best food we've ever had, and that is no joke. It came out hot and fresh and perfect. Literally the warmest food hug ever almost like if your grandmother was a chef and made the best darn comfort food with all the love in the world. It was amazing. Please do yourself a favor and stop by or i'll regret it for you.
This was my second experience here and it was as great as the first.
I had a bowl of red beans of rice as an appetizer, it was good but be careful it came out very hot. I also had a Caesar salad before my meal as well, I really liked it but my gf did not, it was very heavy on the dressing.
For my entree I had the hamburger steak with the default sides of green beans and mashed potatoes, along with the addition of some Mac and cheese. The steak comes with onions and brown gravy on it. This whole meal was perfect for me, one of the best homestyle meals I’ve had at a restaurant. Similar to something your grandma would make you.
My gf got the fried catfish, which I didn’t try but she enjoyed. It is definitely a large serving though, so don’t let the price steer you away.
The service here was great as well!
5/5 will definitely come back
I had an amazing experience here! Wow. I had the eggplant Napoleon pasta, the shrimp magazine, and some great drinks. For dessert we enjoyed the lava cake and the blackberry cobnler a la mode. This place is a stop you must make! Oh...how can I forget about the Beignet's with cornmeal, spices, and crab! Amazing!
Cute little local place, daily special was chicken cordon blue, garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Shrimp stuffed peppers and braized cabbage. Everything was very delicious!!
The food was absolutely amazing. We stopped on a whim, and so happy we did. The staff were all extremely friendly as well.
We started with the onion rings which are hand battered. The batter was light, and onions were soft and tender. Fantastic.
For our main meal I had the steak burger and my wife had the roasted Turkey.
Both meals were extreme flavorful and much larger in portion size than expected.
Delicious food and friendly service. Highly recommended the eggplant napoleon for an appetizer! Soft shell crab Poboy was awesome as well!
I was really excited to try New Orleans dishes but the seem to be missing flavor. The staff was very kind and welcoming.
A place recommended by locals- it's a small quite little place- food was delicious. Would recommended the trout or the eggplant. Don't go if your in a rush- food is all cooked to order- this is not fast food.
Great place to stop in the garden district. Food was amazing and atmosphere was relaxing and calm much bigger inside than it appears. Our server was friendly and offered excellent food recommendations.
Great place to eat. Everything was very tasty! I would highly recommend a visit.
We googled “restaurants in garden district” while visiting and this place was one of the top options. I am so glad that we decided to eat lunch here. I immediately loved the look of the place when we walked in. We both started off with a cup of red beans and rice and ate that deliciousness quickly. I ordered the Wednesday special which was chicken cordon bleu. It came with new potatoes and I subbed the mix veggies for macaroni and cheese (I always have to get that if on a menu). Excellent meal!!! It was a large portion and I wanted to save room for dessert so I ate half. It was a perfect late night leftover meal after hitting up Bourbon Street. My husband ordered the other special which was brisket braised cabbage and rice with gravy. I had several samples from his plate and it was so good. We split a bread pudding with rum sauce to get the full New Orleans experience and it was wonderful. Our waitress, Lindsay, was wonderful and cheerful the whole time. The whole experience was 5 stars.
I can't believe I haven't written a review for these guys yet- I've been bringing my food tour guests here since I started! Great location for tourists (get out the French Quarter already, what are you doing?) and locals- the place is full of regulars, first responders on their lunch hour (always a good sign) and neighborhood folks. The daily lunch special offers something new every day and you'll find classics like jambalaya, po-boys, red beans and rice... A few new takes too, like the eggplant napoleon (even if you aren't an eggplant fan, you owe it to yourself to try the appetizer) and crab and corn beignets. They began doing Sunday brunch and it's still easy to get a table without a long wait and the brunch food is solid, especially the shrimp and grits. It's family-run and staff is consistent (always a good sign), and, combined with the abundance of regulars, it makes the place feel friendly and welcoming. They renovated the upstairs room- if you're looking for somewhere to hold a private luncheon, party, baby shower- it has a nice balcony that overlooks Magazine St. Drinks- the house made white sangria has gotten lots of compliments from my guests and there's a good selection of local beers, some from places just blocks away.
One of our favorite restaurants in the area was jam packed wall to wall on this trip to magazine street which caused us to try out a new location. Lucky for us, not even a block up was Joey K's. We weren't planning on "creole" fare for this night but sometimes you have to roll with the punches and that's what we did. It worked out just fine.
We decided to order mostly appetizers and share them around the table. We got an order of the Fried Green Tomatoes with Grilled Shrimp and Remoulade, Crab and Corn Beignets, The Eggplant Napoleon with Fried Shrimp and Crawfish Cream, and finished off with the Bread Pudding.
The Fried Green Tomatoes were quite good. Often times when I order something like this I feel like the tomatoes are too tart. I know they should have that element to them, but a lot of times they're even more tart than you'd expect. These had a nice flavor to them. The grilled shrimp was a good touch and the remoulade was a nice sauce to add to the bite. I'd order this again.
The Crab and Corn Beignets were good, but maybe a little too odd for me haha. They were sweet as you'd imagine but also savory. I enjoyed them for what they were but out of everything if there was a dish voted off the island, this is the one for me personally.
The Eggplant Napoleon dish was excellent. The eggplant and shrimp both had great flavor and the crawfish cream sauce was one of the best I've had in Nola...and I've had many. I would order this again without reservation, and I'd be happy to do it.
The bread pudding was also very high quality. I have had others in the area that I personally prefer, but that's not to take away from this tasty dessert. If we went back tomorrow, I'd eat it again.
Mix in some solid service, sangria, and a huge goblet of beer and Joey K's on Magazine is an easy verdict - Didn't Suck!
5 stars for Tiffany! Hard working, fun, charming , cute and FULL of personality 💖. This place should be renames Tiffany's. She's a gem! The fries green tomatoes and savory beignets , red beans and rice ans especially the incredible.eggplant Napoleon; I go out to eat alot and this was one of the most fun and memorable meals I have had in a long time. Also big frosty beer chalis!
Fantastic food and service. Large portions for the price. From Chicago abd during our visit ate there twice.. try the crab beignets simply delicious.
We ordered 4 dishes to share and finished them all. They were unique and so good! The trout was my favorite. Thankful for an outdoor table during this crazy Covid time. Overall a wonderful experience.
Very fair prices and absolutely delicious food. We had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. Crunchiest, juiciest chicken fried steak and rich flavorful gravy!
Delicious local food with local atmosphere away from the crowds.
Gumbo was good, corned beef delicious and
desserts amazing.
Friendly and attentive service.
I went here on recommendation of a local chef I met at a bar in town. Said the country fried steak would change my life.
While the country fried steak was good, I was a little disappointed it was pork and that the gravy was brown rather than white, and the green beans were a big disappointment as they were clearly canned.
That being said, the other stuff I got were all great. The cup of gumbo I got as a side was good, the corn and crab beneigts were crispy and the sauce served with them was amazingly peppery.
The real star was the eggplant napoleon with crawfish and shrimp. Was one of the best things I ate my week in New Orleans!
Overall definitely worth checking out, if for the eggplant napoleon alone
If you are in New Orleans and you do not go to Joe K's, y'all r missin one of the most important culinary experiences of your life. Period. I was in New Orleans for a couple of days and I am glad I could make it to this wonderful place. I had watched some great reviews of this place on YouTube and read some online and all of them were right. They open at 11am and the tables get occupied pretty soon. The place is well lit with big windows and the ambience is just right. They have a bar at one corner and the kitchen is visible from the tables. They have a bigger space indoors for larger groups of diners. We ordered the daily special, the split pea soup, the regular house gumbo and an eggplant napolean.
It was raining when we were there and the split pea soup and the gumbo hit the perfect notes on that rainy day. The split pea soup was rich and creamy and we savored every bit of it. We had tried gumbo at every restaurant we went in New Orleans by then and theirs was right there on the top. It was just perfectly done, thick and savory with perfect level of salt and seasoning for us. The eggplant napolean with rum sauce elevated the whole dining experience for me. It was rich and creamy and the run sauce was just perfect, sweet and creamy and hint of that rum. Damn!! It was just great. We concluded our meal with the bread pudding as our dessert and what should I tell you abt it!!! It was so freaking good. The pudding had crusty texture on the outside and warm and moist inside. The taste of cooked butter on the pudding was fantastic. Wish I could have more of it. The whole experience was a pure joy and I can't recommend this place enough for trying out authentic New Orleans cajun food. Our server Stephaney was great and I found all the servers attentive and they would clear the tables and clean it as soon as the customers left. Everyone seemed to work in great harmony.
A must visit place!!! À bientôt Joe K's!!!!
Everything was delish and the service was excellent! I got a shrimp poboy and savory crab and corn beignets. I sat at the bar and my server Gabriela took great care of me. I’ll definitely come back again soon.
Cute street side restaurant and bar on Magazine St in New Orleans. Family friendly and great atmosphere . My daughter specifically wanted spaghetti and meatballs while we had some errands in New Orleans and they did not disappoint!
Great service with genuine smile.
Food was marvelous, flavorful, and brought out in timely manner. Definitely 2 thumbs up!!!
This local joint has all the makings to be a top notch restaurant, but they stuck to a relaxed bar vibe; thank you! I was able to just sit back and relax after a full day of being a tourist and was able to blend it with the locals. Now with the atmosphere out of the way we can talk about the food. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! After we ordered off the menu we noticed a board on the wall with daily specials listed. I recommend looking for the board before you order.
Love this restaurant, the atmosphere is really great, the environment is good, the service is good, the food is delicious, of course, it's not cheap, but it's worth it. Next time I visit New Orleans, I'll definitely be back for brunch.
Went for a work dinner for a large party. We were seating upstairs. The staff is friendly. The food is very delicious.
Lindsey was our server and she was amazing! She is wonderful with kids too. The food is delicious and bountiful for the price. We will be back!
This was our first time eating at this establishment. Our waiter was very nice , and prompt for the most part. The atmosphere was different but really nice. The prices were pretty reasonable and we will definitely visit again. The food was good. Overall our experience was good!
Very cool place! The beignets were delicious!! The hamburger steak and shrimp magazine were yummy!!
Great food busy place but no long wait. Service was great and courteous. The rooms could benefit from dinner sound deadening decor as it tends to get real loud when it's packed.
INCREDIBLE - we are tourists from Seattle and this has been the best restaurant thus far. The fried chicken & the mashed potatoes with gravy (excellent gravy) blew me away. Both incredible! My mother got catfish and Mac and cheese - I had a couple bites of the catfish (great) didn't even bother with the Mac and cheese. No need! Very friendly and funny staff as well - great experience!
Helpful waiter, nice ambience desserts was terrific reasonable prize a large amount of blackberry cobbler with ice cream on top..You need to show your vaccination card..To dine in here
Absolutely DELICIOUS!! Gumbo was delicious, grilled tuna steak was good, gravy for the mashed potatoes (I asked for it) was out amazing! Jambalaya was scrumptious, daughter’s chicken parmesan was great and the sauce was really good! Bread pudding was out of this world good!!! (Except for the nuts in it)! Place was clean and comfortable. Service could have been better. All and all I would definitely recommend this place!!
The food was so good. Staff was amazing. Goofy little place but so fun.
The food was pretty good. I had this and the lamb shank. The server did a pretty good job and was really personable. The fried chicken was good. I was surprised how hot the inside of the fried chicken was. The lamb shank was decent but nothing to go crazy about. Overall the food was good.
Highly recommend Joey K's!! We went on Friday night at about 5:30pm. Got seated right away. The place is absolutely eclectic!! Food is delicious - I had Eggplant Parmesan - best I have EVER had. Was only able to eat less than half, as portion sizes are more than ample. Very reasonably priced. The Bread Pudding is to die for!!!
It doesn't matter if you are a hippie or a hero, Joey K's is delicious. Guy Fieri visited here & for a good reason; this place is the BaBaBombb . ORG. When we go here, we ALWAYS get the Fried Chicken, either traditional or country-fried! mhmm, I'm drooling writing this review.
@phidingthefam
I wish there were more stars and I would give them all to this eatery in Magazine Street. They have the most amazing food AND ambience AND service. Trifecta!
We tried the split pea soup which was so homely and comforting that it did not feel like restaurant food at all. The gumbo was DELICIOUS. We also tried their eggplant napoleon which was sheer awesomeness served on the plate. Also, you MUST try their bread pudding with rum sauce and if you don’t, trust me, you are missing something that is VERY important. If I ever go back to New Orleans, I will, most definitely, eat here again. Watch out for their specials for the day you visit because they have a different one for each day.
Bon Appetit, folks!
The gumbo was amazingly rich and full of flavor. Didn't care too much for the po boy sandwich, it was dry. French fries were soggy. Would go back only for the gumbo
Debris Poboy combo with jambalaya and red beans and rice. Very authentic New Orleans meal. Great restaurant service.
Just the best! Red beans & Rice taste like my grandma made it. The artwork was *almost* as good as the bread pudding which was filled with pecans, raisins & apples, with the most buttery rum sauce ever! Good value too, if you only go to one restaurant in Louisiana - make sure it's Joey K's!
I got the fried green tomatoes with a margarita. It was a little cold inside but the taste of the food made up for it
Great local neighborhood restaurant in the Garden District. Lots of indoor seating and a few outdoor tables. Great service. Had the fried oyster dinner with sweet potato fries and red beans and rice. Oysters were tender and lightly battered. Fries were light and not greasy. Rice and beans were creamy and flavorful.
Also had the Brisket dinner with rice and gravy , cabbage sautéed in bacon! It was so delicious!! Hearty portions. Better food and value than eating in French District!
Really fast helpful friendly service. The shrimp 🍤 on the appetizers were overcooked but everything else was 👍 great! …
This is a great place to eat, it was a bit busy when we got there but once we got sat, the service was quick, friendly and helpful.
Customer service was excellent with Justin. Nice neighborhood restaurant
Are you kidding me?!??!!
This place is on point! Service was phenomenal, food was even better (if you can get better than perfection), and the atmosphere was delightful.
Started with the fried green tomatoes, and then I moved onto the trout tchoupitoulas... just sit down feed your face and enjoy what you are eating! Like really OMFG!! Enjoy the review and do yourself a favor and go here to grab a bite to eat.
This place is definitely worth the streetcar ride and then the walk down to Magazine Street!
Great spot for lunch! Gumbo and Po Boy were both extremely good! Great atmosphere and staff!
It was super busy and we ended up at sitting at the bar. The bartender Gabriela was awesome and the food came out super fast. The Eggplant Napoleon is to die for and the Red Beans and Rice were so good.
It was LEGIT authentic NOLA home cooking! Everything was delicious right down to the sauces. Even my margarita was one of the best I've ever had. The service was top notch too! If you find yourself in NOLA make an effort to get outside the tourism and try some really good food!
First time visit & we really enjoyed our lunch today! Crab & corn beignets, red beans & rice, onion rings, trout tchoupiloutas & shrimp magazine dishes all hit the mark. Great service; acted responsibly re: Covid restrictions. Quirky, clean & clearly a beloved local spot. I recommend.
This place is a hidden gem. Staff was extremely friendly and food was delicious.
Foods great, servers a nice. Some guy named Austin just had a bad attitude so avoid him :) but thanks to Ryan for the help!
The fried chicken were so crispy! Liver tastes delicious. I ate a lot
The green beans were amazing and so was the chicken tenders and fries. My husband had the chicken fried steak with mash potato and he finished the entire plate. I tired his mash potatoes with gravy and also amazing. If you’re ever in the garden district near magazine street you need to eat here. The art work around the restaurant is super unique and colorful.
Wow! Awesome!! From the fried green tomatoes to the bread pudding, you will not be disappointed.
Fantastic food! Portions for the cost are very fair. Maybe the best I’ve seen in this area of Magazine St. My wife and I split a meal and an app and we were both stuffed! Of course, we split a meal to have room for the bread pudding. Highly recommend!
Great food and service! I had Mojito and love it.
First of all, let's start with the service. It was absolutely amazing. Our server was very attentive. The food was spectacular. The menu was small but with big flavor. Perfect experience.
Best meal we've had in NO by far. Authentic home cooked flavour. Try the fried artichokes as a starter. Chicken fried steak with green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy were soooo good. Bread pudding is out of this world. Very good value. And the service was fast and soooooooo fun (thanks Drex, you made our lunch that much more enjoyable)!
I highly recommend Joey K’s Restaurant in the New Orleans Garden District! The food was excellent and the staff was wonderful and friendly! The drinks were delicious as well! I contacted management due to losing a receipt and they sent me a copy immediately. Over the top customer service!!!
First time visiting here and it seems like nice place. The menu has great options that it was hard the choose. The customer service was on point as well as the food. Highly recommend!
Where the locals eat on Magazine St, uptown in NOLA. Better than mama's kitchen cook'in. Service is quick, wait for food has always been brief and the food will keep you from going downtown. Loved the decor, quotes and snippets of wisdom on the walls. Drafts served in frosted mugs.
Very tasty with a home cooked vibe. Definitely would return. We had the lamb shank.
Great atmosphere, great food, great prices, Mint Julep was great. My only complaint is the Bloody Mary was mediocre and that’s being generous but it didn’t ruin the meal or our experience. I would highly recommend a stop in
This is a definite spot on my list of must return to eateries. The shrimp and mushroom fettuccine alfredo was best I've ever had. Their margarita was also the best I've had as well. Every thing I tried here was excellent.
One of the best eating experiences I've had in a long time period authentic, flavorful and delicious Creole food. Service was timely and friendly.
Beyond the great hefty-portioned food offerings. SERVICE IS WITH a Smile BEHIND THE MASK ( YOU CAN TELL)
Did you know this is a mid 19th century building...could it be haunted???...OMG!
Well the food sure isn't...authentic, bold flavors, portioned like they're coming from your gramma's kitchen.
This building used to be a pharmacy (who knew?). In fact another mind blower is Joey K. Is actually the original owners daughter. They've even been visited by Drive-ins , Diner and Dives..Guy Fieri be blessed!
I recommend you make it your business to taste their famed Red Beans and Rice...a NOLA classic ...done right here!!
Friendly and good service. There are so many great options. We ordered the Eggplant Napolean for an appetizer. It was fried eggplant stacked with fried shrimp and a crawfish creole sauce. YUM!!! We had the grilled chicken salad and the white beans with breaded pork chops. Everything was seasoned and really good. For dessert, the brownie with ice cream. Great dinner.
I got the voodoo catfish plate on Thursday. The food was delicious and the weather was perfect (we sat outside). Great date night food with a casual atmosphere.
We ordered the catfish po boy and fried green tomatoes appetizer. Both were great. Service was fast and friendly. We were very happy with the overall experience.
We got the gumbo bowl and the trout dish and it was AMAZING. This place is a must visit if you're in New Orleans. I could see that everything was cooked fresh and tasted delicious. We went Monday afternoon around 2 PM and there was a 40 min wait. We had no complaints as we just roamed around nearby. Great ambiance as well. Highly recommend!
Came to this place by accident but so happy we did. The staff was super friendly and helpful and gave some good recommendations. The eggplant po’boy was great. Would eat here again.
For my first time in new orleans and on a budget. This place hit the spot. Between how good the red beans and rice with sausage was to being budget friendly was a plus for sure!! Super good!
I make it a point to come here every time I’m in NOLA. The food is always fresh and delicious. I recommend the Eggplant Napoleon, one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten!
Food was just ok. We shared the seafood platter. I had gumbo. Flavor was good but roux was too light. Service and location were great!
I saw this spot on TV and took advantage to go on a recent road trip. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I went midday when it wasn't too busy. Service was great and the food was on point. I tried both the eggplant napoleon and the beignet balls as a recommendation. The eggplant napoleon was slightly salty but overall the food was delicious and the service was enjoyable. Check it out!
The macaroni and cheese is fire!!! The fries were unseasoned. The fried catfish was very good. The chicken in the jambalaya was dry since it was the breast. Overall the food was ok. Very friendly staff!!
I highly recommend the trout tchoupitoulas at Joey k's. My first time here... the food, my picky drinks, the service, everything amazing! I asked for an old fashioned with buffalo trace, a sazerac with sazerac rye, and they provided with great service. My wife got an amazing shrimp po boy! Thank you guys!
Saw their sign while on a guided city tour and decided we'd go back since that is our son's name. Jumped off the St Charles Streetcar Line and walked down to Magazine Street. The décor inside and out is FUN. Staff was very friendly and we sat outside to try a few drinks. As we talked to a few patrons, we found that this location had been featured on DDD. Despite being stuffed from our day of eating and drinking, I tried a cup of the Gumbo and was blown out of the water. Simply amazing. Head over to the Barmacy and try an Old Fashioned, Sazerac or other libation.
Sorry We’re Open it says on the door. Lots of unique art. Good food and service.
The waiter listened to my dietary concerns and went through the menu options with me. The catfish with potatoes and broccoli was the best catfish I've ever had. Can't recommend this place enough.
This was a great spot! Fried chicken, red beans and rice, and the chicken parm were all delicious. Also loved the atmosphere. Joey K's is a must-try in my book!
Whenever my partner and I travel to a city where Guy Fierri has been we go. This was one of the best yet. Moved to top. Bread pudding yum. We ordered an e tra to go.
While visiting the Garden District in New Orleans more than one person suggested this place to us.
We are very happy that we came to this place, the decor inside was amazing, the service was super friendly and whats better is that our food tasted even better.
Ryan our server was Always checking we were good, he was extremely professional and helpful, we ordered the Gumbo and Fried Oysters (Delicious) Ryan suggested the Jucifer (IPA BEER) and we added a Dixie as well both beers were Ice Cold.
If you’re visiting the area we strongly recommend this place you won’t regret it.

Club sandwich and shrimp salad were great. Atmosphere was very up beat. They were pretty busy but very prompt and had a great family vibe. Owner should be very proud
The food was good , and the service was awesome. If we lived here we would definitely come back
Delicious food and great, friendly service!! Portions are big enough to share or take home for a whole second meal!!
How can you resist this dessert menu? Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce, Apple or Blackberry Cobbler, Ms. Cathy's Brownie Pie. We ventured in here after a morning of walking through the Garden District. They have a great menu full of seafood and comfort food. One side of the menu is filled with daily specials, three or four dishes each day. Today was Beef Brisket, Stuffed Pepper with ground meat and shrimp and Chicken Cordon Blue. Then they have sandwiches, seafood, steak, pasta, salads, soup and appetizers. Good beer and wine selection and Wednesdays are half off bottles of wine. We had Pasta Primavera which was sort of bland, but the Stuffed Pepper was amazing. It's served with rice and brown gravy, cabbage and bacon. For dessert we tried the bread pudding. It was superb.
The Mac and cheese slaps!! The jambalaya was okay but used white meat the was SUPER dry. The fried fish was pretty good.
The food was great and with good prices. The crab corn bisque was really good. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
This place is fantastic. From the food (highly recommend the eggplant napoleon) to the decor, this place is a must try. The portions are large and menu selections are plentiful. The restaurant is large so if you have to wait for a table, it would be minimal.
This is a staple. We've been at Joey K's every time we visit New Orleans. Food feels homemade, I even heard locals saying this was their favorite place. I highly recommend the gumbo, shrimp po boys, red beans and rice, fried green tomatoes with shrimp. Try everything on the menu! Real taste of nola.
I ordered brisket with rice and gravy and cabbage Creole style. This is the first time I’ve had brisket served with horseradish. The meal was very delicious and the customer service was top notch
Very Good Food, and great service. Crab was cooked perfectly, along with eggplant and the salmon. My one Critasim is the fact that the bathrooms lines tended to get very long, since the restaurant is large but only one bathroom
Really tasty onion rings that are huge. Everyone enjoyed the food and our waitress was so busy but made sure to check on us. This place was packed but our group of 4 only waited about 10 minutes to be seated. I love all the cute signs on the walls that are for sale.
Enjoyed this restaurant. I tried my first fried softshell crab here and enjoyed it! I was surprised the meal came with a refreshing salad. The bread was okay, could have been warmed more. I'd definitely visit this restaurant again!
We enjoyed the lively atmosphere of this Magazine Street eatery with good home-cooking styled offerings and well as customary Cajun offerings of fried oysters and fried shrimp. We had been to this location before many years ago when it was under different ownership. The new group has kept much of the old feeling up raised it up a few notches.
Guy Fieri came here, so I really shouldn't have to say much but I will. Cute. Cute, place! Get out of the French Quarter's business and have a little peace and quiet along with some excellent food! Joey K's has some unique dishes. We had the Crab and Corn Beignets as an appetizer. Oh, yum! I had the Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer as my lunch and it was plenty. It was topped with shrimp which I would never think of pairing together along with remoulade sauce. I've had a lot of green fried tomatos along the way and these were the best...hands down. My husband had the appetizer Eggplant Napoleon. What is this? You may ask. This is a breaded and fried eggplant with fried shrimp topped with a crawfish cream sauce. You can also order this dish as a full meal with angel hair pasta but the appetizer was HUGE and DELICIOUS! I also had a Stawberry Beer. Never heard of this but I really liked it. It didn't have the 'bitter' that some beers have. There is some interesting art work that you can buy at a cart outside. Joey K's is a definite place to come to!
We were exploring the city and needed a drink and snack.. This place looked like fun so we took a chance, so glad we did.
We order this appetizer to share and it was fantastic. Great Shrimp and the sauce was amazing. So amazing in fact the we order french bread too to soak it up...did not want to waste any.
My only suggestion to this place would be to add a veggie to this appetizer and make it an entree' ... yes it was that good !
Lunch was excellent! Had the chicken fried pork with a side of rice and beans. My wife had the fried chicken and loved it.
We came for lunch on a Saturday and had a nice experience. We had a group of eight and they gave us friendly and efficient service.
The food was good and they had some great lunch specials. I had JK's Combo, which included a half shrimp po' boy, red beans and rice, and jambalaya. All we're pretty good. My buddy ordered the oyster po boy and he felt it was fishy, I had a couple of bites of it and it was, but I also like that type of oyster.
Couldn't have asked for better, quicker and friendlier service in New Orleans. Great food, excellent prices. Worth every penny.
1st place we stopped to grab something to eat and it was amazing we got the seafood platter and jambalaya and we shared it with 5 people. The batter was great.
Came here after finding out our intended restaurant was closed. Dinner was amazing: fried chicken, fries and green beans. Our server (Bethany, I think) had the entire back dining room to herself. She was nice, professional and as quick as she could be! I hope to return the next time I'm in New Orleans.
Po'boy was pretty good. The bread was a little on the chewy side though. The gumbo was really good. Brisket was a little tough but had good flavor. Macaroni was really good. Service was attentive and friendly. Overall good experience.
Very interesting place with nice food.
We stopped for lunch on a HOT day, and their AC was nice and cold. The staff was very friendly. We had the grilled tuna steak and the all you can eat catfish, which was a huge plate. Both were excellent.
Cozy restaurant with good comfort food. Decided to try some Cajun favorites in the Red Beans and Rice and Gumbo and they did not disappoint. The Red Beans and Rice were good and included some very tasty smoked sausage. I also enjoyed the Gumbo. It included shrimp, sausage, okra, rice and some other stuff and wasn't too spicy which was a good thing for me.
My wife had the Chicken Cordon Bleu which was a Wednesday special. They have a good kids menu here at affordable prices.
Was a decent lunch. Shrimp poboy fantastic per the lady. Softshell was done great. Red beans and rice were served under temp unfortunately. Gumbo had a nice roux and good flavor. The most bizarre thing was no sweet tea. Where in the south is that acceptable? Nowhere including here. overall great show though.
Great restaurant with really tasty food. I had the po boy special that came with a cup of jambalaya and rice and beans. Good combo so I got to try a lot of different NO dishes. It was very busy. The beef in the po boy was soft and well flavoured, and the jambalaya was the best of three I tried over a long weekend.
The red beans and rice here were so good! The jambalaya was excellent as well. Excellent service and plenty of seating.
One of the best local restaurants you can try on magazine! Had the gumbo for lunch. Also have a nice selection of local Brews.
Dropped in because it was bursting at the seams with diners, which is always a good sign. Grilled chicken was flavorful and they kept our drinks full. Nice, affordable little stop in a neat historic building with many of the original features still intact. Solid lunch choice.
Amanda was amazing! She handled my "bring me your best meal and just don't tell me" perfectly 👍😁 …
The food is very good and the service is great. The atmosphere is very welcoming and vibrant. I'll go back the next time I'm in NOLA.
Soooo delicious!! The catfish was the best catfish I had in my life. I will be coming here every time I go to New Orleans.
Food was amazing, service was excellent and drinks were delicious 😋 Thank you for Excellence
Great local flavor. Excellent atmosphere with tasty local beers both in bottle and on tap. Had the all you can eat catfish with french fries. New Orleans style food in a quiet neighborhood off the Green line trolley.
Eggplant Napolean (awesome), seafood platter( 1 with French fries other with sweet potatoes fries) and red beans & rice was great...hubby had apple cobbler for dessert and he said it was great....pic is our to go boxes after eating
Just great food that New Orleans has. The shrimp was freaking amazing!!!! Oh the gumbo next level. I know there are going to be so many 5 star reviews in this town but this place is worth the stop you feel like a local and also like Drew Breeze would stop here.
Good times! Stopped by with friends while visiting New Orleans. Recommend! Food was fantastic and they have all you can eat catfish!
Great value. Portions were super generous. Even though the restaurant was very busy, the service was spot on. Also great to see local artwork featured so prominently and available for purchase should you be interested. Great recommendation from our tour guide, would visit again
Great place that we walked by at first, then was told about it by a local and headed back. So happy we did. Fried Oyster Po-boy was the best I had in the New Orleans area.
Love this place. We have a big family and we usually don't get treated great at restaurants but these guys played with the kids, had great recommendations, and were all super kind and friendly. The food was amazing as well. 5 stars is not enough for this place. Eat here!!! You won't regret it.
Great food, and they even hooked my dog up with water and food.
Once again, another fine dining experience. Had a few local meals to check off my list before returning home and Joey K's didn't disappoint. The first time all week I didn't clean my plate, simply too full. Took care of the leftovers tonight already.
Love the place one of the best spots in New Orleans. In my opinion best Jambalaya in the city. 🤩🤩🤩
THE best place we've eaten while in NOLA! Phenomenal seafood gumbo and red beans & rice! The crab claw appetizers were perfect! Great service and wonderful kitchy atmosphere!
Awesome place for food and drinks. Love the decor. Staff are friendly and helpful, checking in to make sure you are good.
Mmm. Red beans and rice. Mmm. Fried green tomatoes and grilled shrimp. Mmm.
They only got 4 stars because of the slow service. We went on a Monday evening, which we found out if their BIG night. Monday is red beans and rice night in NoLa. They were voted 2nd best in the city recently. I'm ok waiting in line, but our server was slow to greet us once we sat down and slow at everything else after that. Again, they were REALLY busy though. On the plus side, I met a father and daughter who lived in New Orleans while we were waiting for a table & both graduated from the University of Iowa, also my alma mater! We chatted about our experiences @ Iowa & they gave us several suggestions about places we needed to go while we were in town. Made the time go faster & more enjoyable! The food was outstanding and worth the wait. My red beans & rice lived up to the hype and my friend had their fried green tomatoes with shrimp. Sooo good! We finished off the meal with their hot apple struddle and vanilla ice cream. We left full and happy.
Absolutely outstanding food! Very cool and authentic NOLA food. Jambalaya and red beans and rice was the bomb! Highly recommend!
This place was a tourist dream. Walk in and find it's a local hotel spot. The service was as hospital as visiting a relative you like and she likes you. Very down home decor with awesome phrases to read... But the real question is how was the food... the Salmon Steak was so thick and flavorful. The breading on the Shrimp was out of this world delicious. ( Sorry the photo was taken with 5 or so gone). The Catfish PoBoy was spot on. Believe me this will be a place I will always be back to and bring my friends. Thank you Joey K. Your establishment has set the bar high.
Excellent!! Jambalaya and Red Beans and Rice much better that anything we had in French Quarter. Highly Recommended! Sherrie was great!! So glad we stopped in for lunch!!
Tiffany and Linda were the sweetest waitresses! So nice and so kind. Amazing food too. P.S. Ask for them frickles :)
Very quick service! Food was delicious! I got the fried shrimp plate. Others in my group got all you can eat catfish platter, fried crab claws, and grilled tuna. Shrimp was better than catfish. Tuna was a little dry when cooked to medium doneness.
Great little restaurant. Has several outdoor tables. Food was delicious and the art all over the restaurant is fabulous. Our service was super friendly and efficient. Go there!
Casual local cuisine with creole flair. Not super fancy but good food and polite service goes a long way. Short table wait, quick service.
We had Excellent staff assist !Dillon was on point ! Great onion rings and friend eggplant Apps ! The fried catfish could be cut with a fork . ❤️
So wonderful. Everyone who works here is so friendly. The food is all AMAZING. The atmosphere is fun and cozy. Highly recommend.
Very friendly service and hot, fresh food. Lovely atmosphere. We'd highly recommend this place if you are in the garden District.
Food is amazing!! Service great!! Outdoor seating made for a enjoyable experience.
Stop by for lunch while visiting, seated immediately. Ordered the fried chicken entree with a side of macaroni & cheese. Every was really good.
Great unique food, large portions. Fish tacos are a special on Friday and they are amazing! They are served with a cup of red beans. Onion rings are flaky and very good. The server was very accommodating but also very slow. They need to work on speed of service.
Really good food, especially the red beans and rice with smoked sausage was a treat
Lemonade Was Badly Watered Down. Corn And Crab Beignets Barely Had Any Powdered Sugar On Top....Trout Tchoupitoulas Was Good But Some Of The Red Potatoes Were Under Cooked. Waiter Was Really Nice.
This was a new place for us to try this trip and man, are we glad we found it! We all got the fried chicken and it was some of the best I've ever had, and I've had a LOT of fried chicken! Don't be like us - get the 4 piece and have extras. I'm still mad I only got 2 pieces lol. Green beans were so flavorful and the mac and cheese was carby-cheesy yumminess!
First place we hit after landing in New Orleans and wasn't disappointed! Food was great! Definitely recommend.
Great restaurant for New Orleans cuisine. Awesome service and great atmosphere.
Absolutely fantastic experience even though it was packed. Beer selection was good, crab claws were nice, and the fried shrimp were perfect. The shrimp po-boy, while a smaller shrimp, was also excellent. The bar staff really made the experience.
SO GOOD! Sweet potato fries were out of this world! Catfish was great and not overly breaded! LARGE portions! Ranch (homemade) is on point! Staff was really sweet and helpful! Reasonable prices! Blackberry cobbler is a must!
Really enjoyed this place. It is odd that this is our first time here considering we live less than a mile away. From the outside, I assumed it was a pricey high end place. It IS nice, but the prices are definitely reasonable.
Food is very tasty and our server was great. Wish I could remember his name. I couldn't decide on food so I got a bunch of side dishes.
We waited a bit too long for our food. It was about 40 minutes. We were a table of 6 plus a baby and a toddler. I made reservations, but sadly we were set up with all the other guests. I was hoping we would be away from others since we had the little ones and that is partially why I mentioned this when making the reservation. (For others enjoyment, not ours. Toddlers are rough sometimes.) Our server was very accommodating and brought bread etc for the toddler since the food took so long.
I can't wait to go back! The Mac n cheese is fantastic!
Added bonus? Schooners of beer are available so I had to have one!
Thank you to our favourite server Dylan for explaining to us what a fraternity is and giving the peacock room recommendation, we loved it and will recommend Joey Ks anytime!
Beer was good. Fried shrimp are skippable, not much flavor for $16. The Trout was really good- especially the vegetables on the side. Not sure if I'd come back. Service was excellent.
This is my favorite place for very reasonable home cooked style in New Orleans food. I know many of the People by name and everyone there works hard, is friendly and kind.
Great local neighborhood restaurant for authentic New Orleans food done perfectly. We had the Shrimp Magazine and the Trout - both were spectacular and ample portions. Prices are VERY reasonable and staff is friendly and efficient. Atmosphere is on the noisy and crowded side but what else can you expect with such great food and prices? Go for the food and you'll be very glad you did!
We decided to stop here because of Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. It did not disappoint. Service was good the facility was very clean and quaint. The food was absolutely wonderful and a good value.
Appetizers were absolutely amazing!!
Crab corn beignets, Eggplant Neapolitan, Fried Artichoke hearts!!!
Another trip, trying Guy Fieri featured restaurants. My wife and I just got appetizers. We got the eggplant Napoleon because of Guy Fieri. We also got fried green tomatoes and crab & corn beignets. Everything was delicious and fulfilling 😋. …
This restaurant is amazingly good. Recommended by locals and now I understand why. Guy Ferrari was here and recommends it too. Red beans and rice is best I have ever had. Stuffed eggplant with shrimp and crab was amazing. Everything we ordered was so good. Bread pudding was delightful.
Absolutely delicious and great service! Very pleased and I'm an out of towner! 😊 …
Ive eaten my share of quick local bites, and this place is now in my top 3. Everything was fresh, and uniquely spiced and seasoned to make it their own. Prices are unbeatable!
Atmosphere is great and staff were excellent.
Crab and corn beignets witb the spicy powdered sugar, must try!
The catfish was amazing! I let was my first time in town and I had a great time here!
Sat outside on a gorgeous spring day. Even outdoors the service was attentive and our server was friendly and helpful. Fried artichoke appetizer was fabulous; onion rings to die for. Red beans and rice were delicious and so were the fried catfish tacos. All 'round excellent. We'll definitely go back plus will recommend to friends.
Walked up with no wait time at 6pm. Had a wonderful tuna salad while dining outside. Fast service!
Great daily specials.
Veal parmesan is delicious. Can't eat it all. Need to take rest home.
Incredibly happy to have walked out of the first place I was going to eat! Because I found Joey K's. Great delicious food!
Our waiter Dylan and the other staff who helped him did a fantastic job. There was 18 of us in our party and every order was correct. His patience and professionalism was impeccable. The food came out hot and delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant for good food, good prices and excellent service.
Get the catfish poboy!
Red beans and rice was great too !
Service was fabulous; definitely a "must- eat" in New Orleans
Great poboy ! Brownie was good, wish I was able to get the bread pudding
The Eggplant Napolean was one of the best things I have ever eaten. So good, in a city of some of the best food, I had it twice. Appetizer size pictured for only $11.50!
Club sandwich and fries please. My favorite sandwich. Onion rings hot and crispy. Can't beat this.
Amazing! Red beans and rice with sausage was very tasty and we'll seasoned. The service ... excellent. We saved room for dessert...blackberry cobbler...to die for. Check it out!
Real homemade food that is tasty and made with real quality. I would go there again the next time I am in NOLA.
My second visit. I like this place! Just wish it wasn't 450 miles from my home. Their gumbo is the best I've found in NOLA. Onion rings are so big and plentiful I share with other tables, shrimp poboy not as good as mine, needs more shrimp.
Outstanding Eggplant Napoleon! Fantastic Food and Service, A must stop when in New Orleans
This was our first visit at this restaurant because we don't live in the New Orleans area. We shared the Eggplant Napoleon as our appetizer and it was amazing! Then my wife and I both ordered the Trout Tchoupitoulas and it was quickly devoured. Then we noticed the host turning several parties away including a lone gentleman that asked to sit at the bar. We finally heard his speech and it turns out he was telling folks the restaurant was closed due to being short staffed. We never noticed any delays and our food was brought out in a timely manner. We would absolutely visit here again in the future.
Lovely people own this restaurant and staff is kind. Good Cajun food! Outdoor and indoor seating available. Excellent fried chicken!
Bonjour🌞 permítanme expresar mis sentimientos. I was enchanted literally mesmerized at the outstanding exceptional service my Mademoiselle Tiffany. She has a luminous conscious, courteous disposition. My compliments! The food was delicious and the experience was wonderful.
Please give her my compliments!
Absolutely amazing food and service. Will definitely visit again.
The experience was amazing the food was delicious 😋, the staff were amazing.
Laid back place with fantastic food and service. We eat here every time we are in the area.
Every time I go, it's perfect! Great place for locals and travelers. Daily specials are always a hit and I think they are back to being open all week again!
When they say the best Red Beans and Rice in NOLA, they really are. The Po'Boys and daily specials are on point. My Roast Beef Po'Boy was so nearly perfect that I haven't eaten one since, anywhere, else I risk total disappointment. And I've had dozens over the years, so not a novice to this.
The fried green tomatoes are the epiphany of what you fantasize eating fried green tomatoes should be like, but rarely do. These guys deliver the goods.
The drinks! Ice cold Abita Amber or the amazingly flavorful bloody mary are at a super good price.
This is the neighborhood joint that handles the flow with grace and speed.
Almost forgot,
AND Who'da thunk it that they would have one of the better bread puddings I've had in nearly two decades.
Usually best food ever. Today roast beef poor boy left over from Brisket on Wed. Sandwich was mush....Still best red beans in town Great servers.
Good food, reasonable pricing. Pretty quick
The Food is Boooooommmmmbbbbbb! Service was great today. If I could fly back to NOLA today just to eat dinner there I would lol. Mmmmm mmmm good
Conveniently located on Magazine Street, Joey K's has a pretty extensive menu featuring lots of local New Orleans favorite dishes at moderate prices. It's also has a family friendly atmosphere.
Delicious
Even the green beans, full of flavor. As the place got busier, the servers would check in, make sure we good. No neglect and very friendly. Thanks Guy, we came here because he featured this NOLA restaurant 🙂
The onion rings are magnificent, the chx parm was pretty tasty as well I just wish they would step up the service . I do recommend it though !
Everything was delicious. I had oysters and fried green tomatoes. My sister had a cheeseburger poboy and crab au gratin. I definitely plan on returning. Here's a picture of Sangria!
Nice local ambiance. Good food and a great server. We would eat there again and would recommend to others. Nice change from chain restaurants
Joey K's is a great place to grab a bite with something for everyone. I tried the Creole Jambalaya w/ sausage, shrimp, and chicken. Perfect with their large cold beer. I also tried their red beans and rice...Joey K's is legit. Everyone was happy!
We had a wonderful lunch here the staff was so friendly and the food was amazing. I'd give 10 starts if I could very kid friendly and the food was well priced with big portions! We will eat here everytime we're in New Orleans!!
Good food, great service.
Generous portion of salmon on the salid.
Very nice young lady suggested the meatballs for dinner tonight and they where the best ever! My wife had the Italian breaded trout with the crawfish topping and it was delicious. Would definitely recommend this spot to friends and will be returning
Had the red beans & rice and a eggplant napoleon on a tasting tour- tasty!
Great place in the garden district. Wonderful food and great friendly service.
This place has amazing food. The chicken fried steak here is some of the best I’ve ever had and had such a nice, crispy breading. I would also highly recommend the Mac and cheese. My server, Gabriela was extremely personable and great at her job. I wish I lived in the area because I would definitely come here more. Excellent food and service all around.
Great spot, yummy food. The trout Tchoupitoulas was so delicious!
Upon entry we were greeted and seated. The atmosphere was good, the decor was artsy, the servers and staff in general were so courteous and pleasant. My friend and I stopped in here after our original spot was booked out. Something to note is that each day of the week there are specials in addition to regular menu items. At the time I just wanted a quick bite to eat so I ordered the chicken tenders and fries, my friend ordered the chicken parm. I could tell that the fries and tenders had been fried in used or old oil because it tasted real fishy. The chicken was burnt on the chicken parm. My friends said as burnt as it was, it was the only thing saving her dish (her words not mine). I must say though, their sauces (honey mustard and ranch) were so good! I wish I could tell you if they were house made, it seemed like it. I also ordered a side of mac and cheese, it could have used a tad bit of salt but once I added it, it was really nice. Overall it was an okay experience, I really would want to give them another try though..
Easily some of the best food I have EVER eaten anywhere in the world. My gf and I came to New Orleans this weekend for a concert and stopped by here for dinner last night. It was pretty close to closing time but they sat and served us anyway with enthusiasm. And might I add that it is surprisingly reasonably priced. If this was the only thing I did here in New Orleans, it alone would be worth the 8+ hour drive from Georgia. If you’re in town, you’ll be sorry if you miss it.
The food and customer service are wonderful. We visited New Orleans on vacation, and this was the best restaurant that we visited. As an appetizer, we ordered fried catfish. It was hot and fresh when they brought it out. My husband ordered a Sunday special, that consisted of a roast beef po' boy, jambalaya rice, and red beans and rice. My husband liked the jambalaya so much that he asked for an order to go. I ordered the fried oysters and fries. For drinks, my husband and I had the unlimited mimosas. We ordered a lot of food and everything tasted great. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Food and service was excellent!
Very cute place, vaccination certificates checked, fair food and drinks, ok service.
Very nice local spot in the Garden district. Catfish dinner was great and the Jambalaya was very good.
Stopped by again for the 2nd time (7/27/17 ) - the food is amazing! it can get packed with locals and travelers who have found it out. Service is great, quick and accommodating.
Food was good, but fairly slow. When we asked to have our food changed to go, as we were running low on time, our waitress shut down and began ignoring us as though we would no longer tip.
The chicken fried steak made my friend feel sick, but he said it could have just been an independent reaction.
Joey K's is absolutely amazing. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. My favorite is the Eggplant Napoleon (an eggplant tower cpvered with fried shrimp and a crawfish cream sauce). The seafood platter is enough to feed two people and they have an all you can eat fried fish meal. Both dishes are great. The staff is friendly and very attentive. You will not be disappointed.
Great menu, great service, family owned, they put in the work and love to the place. Fair prices, we had a good time
Had a cup of gumbo and the napoleon eggplant. My husband had soft crab. It was delicious !!
All you can eat catfish was phenomenal... salads so fresh and crisp... environment was great, service top notch...
A great spot for great louisiana food! Always love stopping by when I'm on that stretch of magazine st.
They were out of quite a few things, so I was a little disappointed not to get to try their green beans, but I got the chicken tenders with mashed potatoes and gravy. I can't explain why it was so so good, but it was. And they give you SO much chicken.
Eggplant Napoleon, and Fried Catfish Po’boy hit the spot!
Delicious for the most part and good customer service.
Good restaurant, with a nice decoration. Food was OK but not excellent.
Really really good fried chicken! The 2 piece is sufficient for an adult male, imo. service is not the greatest, but not too bad.
Food and atmosphere were great. On the faith of other reviews we got the Red Beans and Rice. As well as two of the Tuesday specials. The Stewed chicken and Braised Lamb Shank. Holy cow I’ve been converted to liking greens. We also got the Bread Pudding and it was amazing! 100% would recommend!
Very small and not customer friendly. Food was disappointing. We had shrimp po boys. More like popcorn shrimp on a stail bun. Red beans and rice were good.
The outside of the building draws you in with a true New Orleans atmosphere. Inside was welcoming, greeted by a true NOLA accent. Gabriela served us at the bar and was a friendly face as she served us our first official meal. The food was amazing with large portions. The eggplant Neoplian and fried green tomato poor boy were excellent. They have a great selection of local beers on tap and serve them up with well frosted mugs!
Fabulous neighborhood spot with all the typical New Orleans favorites. 3-4 eggplant dishes as well as others. Delicious red beans for that traditional Monday classic.
Amazing service and delicious food!
This is a must go place if you are looking for southern/soul food. The service was very friendly and attentive. They have a good selection of local beer on tap. I read good reviews about the onion rings so I started with them and they were great! For dinner I had the eggplant napoleon pasta because my server recommended it over the magazine shrimp (seemed to be a tough choice) and she did not let me down! It was absolutely amazing!! This will be a go to spot for me every time I am in New Orleans.
Delicious food on Magazine St. We tried 2 of their chalkboard specials: Catfish and a shrimp po-boy with a side of jambalaya and red beans and rice. Fabulously tasty and a great ambiance. Cold drinks and Service with a smile. We'd definitely recommend Joey K's.
We were in town for our daughter's Sweet 16. I googled top places to eat and Joey K's came up. So glad we decided to do dinner here! It was absolutely deeellliiissshhh!! We had the all you can eat catfish, mac n cheese, and red beans & rice! Then for dessert we tried the apple cobbler and the bread pudding with rum sauce! Can we say BIG YUM!!
It was good . Fish was a little dry .but not terrible.
The service was superb. The entire staff made you feel special. The food was tremendous. The chefs even came out to ask us if the food was to our liking. This was the best service I've had in a very long time.
Great food with plenty of your favorites as well as delightful surprises. If I lived in the city, I would go here once a week at least. Good atmosphere and reasonably priced. Our waitress was excellent as well.
Randomly stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! Short wait. Staff was very attentive amd hospitable.
Food was YUM! Very hot and fresh. Will definitely be back when I'm in NOLA.
Family-friendly restaurant. The staff was courteous and friendly. Our waiter was Mason and he was top-notch. Great drinks, the food was delicious. The prices are fantastic. I highly recommend Joey K's if you're on Magazine St. Try the Eggplant Napoleon Pasta. Superb.
Softshell crab dinner is a MUST. Her trout was cooked perfectly as well, very meaty and flavorful. Service was outstanding.
The pasta was very good and reasonably priced.
Great food, great portions, great prices. We ordered to share the Crabmeat Gratin, and the Seafood Platter. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and expertly prepared. Service was quick and attentive. The ambiance is super cool and colorful. We loved it so so much!
Lots of cool decor. Staff was super friendly, and the food was amazing🔥 …
Always delicious, great service and something on the menu for everyone.
Excellent! Huge portions and tons of flavor. Staff was really nice too. The tuna we ordered rare and came out a more medium, medium well but was still really good despite being slightly over cooked. The eggplant tower is a must!
Great service and wonderful food. Get the crawfish mac it is fab.
Food is okay, drinks are nice, and the staff is friendly. Not going to blow your mind by any means, but certainly isn't bad. Mac and cheese tastes like they used bagged shredded cheese that has the corn starch on it and don't know how to make a roux. But that's whatever.
They did, however, have dark & stormy's available, the greatest drink ever. I will give them a 1 star bump to a 4 star for this alone.
Delightful food. I had a very interesting dish of shrimp on pasta with a cream sauce incorporating wine. Only negative was my wife's fried oysters (usually very good) were over cooked. Great service by Dylan.
The food here was excellent. We had the seafood platter, fried green tomatoes, and bread pudding, and everything was great. As a tourist in this city, Joey K's felt like a good restaurant to try what felt like authentic New Orleans food.
Amazing eggplant napoleon. I wouldn't call it an appetizer though--it was enough for two people to feel pretty full!!
Good flavor, their bread pudding was so good.
Excellent Service! Even better food! Liked it so much, we went back a second day!
We want to give a huge thanks to guy for his recommendation to the restaurant. We love the decor there, and the food in customer service were great as well. We ordered the half shrimp poboy sandwich, red beans, and jambalaya. It was a fantastic lunch, and I look forward to returning soon.
Food was overall great. I loved the trout. My red potatoes were not fully cooked, but I just took them home and microwaved them a little extra the next day for lunch. Our server, Jacob, was very attentive and super friendly. We'll definitely go back the next time we're in NOLA.
Fabulous food. I don't even like red beans and rice but these were so good. Fish tacos were great too.
This place is WONDERFUL! The waitress was very helpful and we never wanted for anything. And then theres the food, absolutely to die for 😊. That gravy is second to none. Be sure to treat yourself to dessert also. We had the bread pudding with rum sauce and it was phenomenal.
Do yourself a favor and try it!
This restaurant is to die for. The meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans out of this world. Eat here you will not regret it.. My husband said the rice and beans were delicious
My friend and I went here yesterday afternoon for a quick bite and drinks and it was wonderful! The corn and crab beignets are something I will dream of forever, the waitress was very sweet and accommodating, the drinks were very cold and delicious! We only had the appetizer but just from that, I am certain the rest of the food is superb
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Great staff that were very attentive.
Went there after a Google search and saw they were on the Diners, drive in and dines show. The service was superb, Mason was great,. Ordered the local beer and it was delicious. Ordered the crab and corn beignets and they were fried crisp and tasty. Ordered the shrimp magazine...pasta was a bit mushy and overcooked but not bad at all. Ordered the Apple cobbler for dessert and that was the downfall of the entire dinner. Looked like someone dropped it...not good at all. Otherwise I would have given the place 4.5☆ overall I give 3.75☆
We had a bad experience with our waiter but the manager was very professional and we appreciated that. We waited for over an hour for our main course. The gumbo was cold, the onion rings were doughy. He never checked on us once. When we asked about our main course, the waiter raised his voice at my wife. He then attempted to pick some plates and they went everywhere, spilling beer onto my 8 month old's car seat. She wasn't sitting in the seat at the time. But, it was still bad. He didn't even apologize. The manager came out and was lovely. She comped our bill and that was that. I've been there plenty times before and I've had much better experiences there. We just don't want that waiter again. 1 star for that jerk, 5 stars for the manager.
This restaurant came with high recommendations from a local. My wife and I had the hamburger steak. Got desert togo.
The atmosphere is very New Orleans, the wait staff is very friendly, the food is exceptional.
I would recommend a stop by when you're in the Garden District. Parking is a definite issue.
Great spot for a casual bite. Be sure to save room for dessert-- they were all so delicious!!!!!
Best place I ate at in New Orleans! I miss going there. I went twice in one trip and I try to never do that lol definitely recommend.
Our favorite spot during our trip to New Orleans. We loved the crab and corn beignets, and the fried shrimp po boy was outstanding. Bread pudding was hands down the best we’ve ever had. We got in without a wait on a Saturday evening and the service was great.
Drinks were cold and delicious but the menu wasn’t very creative. Food was ok and convenient location. Seems geared to tourist and I think it works but I was looking for more.
Amazing bread pudding with rum sauce. Fun and friendly staff
Homestyle,, fresh made cookin', Nawlins style! Delicious variety, best chicken fried steak, amazing shrimp pasta, and brisket that melts in your mouth!
Very good food, wife had roast beef sandwich and I had fried shrimp. Fried shrimp was pretty typical, could have probably been from anywhere, but was good. The wife loved the roast beef, which was advertised as made in house. Service was good, seating was quick, and food came out quickly. Great lunch spot.
The food and service was great! We were seated promptly; friendly staff and many food choices.
Great dining in the garden district! Crawfish were good! Highly reccomend the onion rings!!
The food is nothing special, aside from it being somewhat unique to the area. It certainly wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. The service was good and most of the staff were friendly. I may have set my expectations too high going in.
I ordered a Bloody Mary and Red beans, and both were superb! A great little place for a late brunch.
My family and I were visiting New Orleans and wanted an actual sit down meal. We made reservations at another restaurant and still stood waiting for 25 minutes and still didn't see a soul. We googled and saw Joey K's and even though they closed in half an hour, they let us in. Service was excellent and very friendly. They didn't rush us at all and even with only one waitress for the tables we saw, we never had to ask for anything. And the food....it was SO GOOD!!! Will definitely recommend and return whenever I'm back in New Orleans.
Food was exactly what every Local and World Traveling Foodie said it would be. "Simply Delicious".
On the Table
Fried Green Tomatoes W/Lg sauteed shrimp $10.95
Eggplant Napoleon 'app' with Crawfish Tails around and in between each perfectly fried eggplant patty. $12.50 ("You're crazy to complain about this dish.")
Onion Rings (There's No Small Orders Here) $7.50
We were in New Orleans for July 4th weekend. My husband loves Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives so we searched for a place he'd been to and we found Joey K's so we tried it and it was so worth it. Everything we ate was so good. But by far the best thing was the fried green tomatoes with the remoulade. The remoulade by itself was AMAZING! And not only was the food great the service was wonderful even though it was really busy. I don't typically write reviews but this place was so good I felt compelled to write one. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back the next time we are in New Orleans.
Came across town from French quarter just to get the creamy red beans and rice from Joey K's. It was totally worth the trip. I highly recommend anyone visiting New Orleans to make the effort to get this great comfort food.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Trout and the red beans and rice. This could become my local favorite…I just need to move to NOLA.
We had another fabulous meal at Joey K’s. Always impressed by the food and the service from Gabriela was perfect. Had to wait for a table but would do it all over again!!!! So worth it!! Get the Eggplant Napoleon!!! And the bread pudding!!!!
My heart friend took me here. A local favorite for her. The Mac n cheese is so good! And crab dip! Had a perfect Moscow Mule here as well.
Amazing place. Great service and great food. Massive beer and cheap could be have asked for better
Great experience. I had chicken fried steak ( it was actually pork) with mashed potatoes and green beans. Very good. Green beans cooked with hamhock so had a unique flavor. Family had fried shrimp PO boy and thought it was really good. Also had fried shrimp platter- those shrimp had the tails but were still good. Onion rings were good also. Fast service. Wednesday’s are half price bottles of wine.
It was good. Food was decent. In a great neighborhood. Portions are generous. Service was good and our waitress was very friendly. She was training someone and taking care of us. She took it from a good experience to a great one.
Atmosphere was great, service was awesome. We had 3 pounds of Crawfish. Delicious and the price was very reasonable. I will definitely be visiting again the next time I'm in NOLA.
Got some excellent takeout from Joey K's! I had their fried soft shell crab, which was delicious. My wife got the fried shrimp and fries, which were also good. Although my favorite item was probably the grilled shrimp remoulade salad we shared. Was great to enjoy their food even in quarantine.
Lived up to dinner, drive in , dives show . We loved food.
Got ribeye and loaded potato to go. Nice sized potato with good toppings. The ribeye was seasoned just right, melt in your mouth cooked temperature.
Got there a little early and got served by a female elf. Had a nice goblet of Paradise Park
Eggplant Napoleon is to DIE for. The $20 sangria carafe was AMAZE-balls!
We ordered red beans and rice, corn and crab beignets, onion rings, fried green tomatoes, fried shrimp po boy, and bread pudding with rum sauce. All of it was fantastic, friendly staff, lots of tables, overall one of the best places I’ve ever been.
We randomly stumbled upon this place but it was fantastic. We got the crab and corn beignets, which were really just fried crab balls but were delicious. We also had a soft shell crab po-boy! This was one of our favorite po-boys in New Orleans. Definitely recommend this place for delicious food and big portions.
Always the best! From the fried catfish to the eggplant Napoleon appetizer to daily plates. Been going since the 90s and it's always been a great neighborhood staple.
Absolutely delicious, especially my mom if 83 loved her turkey po boy. But she really wanted the jambalaya, so since they serve it only on Friday and Saturday, going back tomorrow.
Stopped in for a quick meal after taking a walking tour in the area. Our tour guide recommended the place. The food was good, the staff was efficient and friendly.
Wonderful food and atmosphere... save room for dessert. The blackberry cobbler was amazing!
Good food and pretty good service. The place was featured on diners drive in and dives, which drew my attention. The food was above my expectations but the restaurant has a slightly uneven flow. From the main dining area to the other section went from fun and out there with creative decorating, to sterile and plain. Overall, I would recommend stopping in. The cheesecake was unbelievable, biggest regret was ordering just one piece
Food was good. Waiting staff seemed overwhelmed though and that's surprising considering the low customer flow. Also, there is a sign at the door to wait to be seated... We stood there for 10min before anyone said anything to us. When our presence was finally recognized we were told to just pick a table and have a seat. The service was mediocre. I give it three stars for the food alone.
I wanted to come to this place and taste the food since I saw this restaurant on the food network channel. This place is the best everything is fresh the Food is Excellent. If you come to New Orleans don't forget to stop at Joey K's The staff is awesome you will leave with a Full Stomach.
Great food, simple, delicious, just go!
It was amazing. The true meaning of new Orleans food🖤⚜ …
Stopped in while checking out Magazine St for the first time. Cute little place. I got the red beans and rice which was good, but my husband got the Eggplant Napoleon Pasta which was amazing! It didn't interest me in the least bit because of the eggplant but after trying it I actually wished I would've gotten it. Yum! I didn't feel our server was great but that aside I would definitely come by again on future visits.
Red beans and rice were very good, gumbo was heavy on the file, which I enjoyed. Service was super friendly and everything we ordered was great, including the drinks. Will definitely recommend and return.
Cute little no frills restaurant. A magazine street staple. This visit ordered crab and corn bisque, also the eggplant napoleon appetizer. Both were very good and plenty for my husband and I to share for lunch.
JK’s is hands down my absolute favorite restaurant in NOLA. it has a wonderful mix of NOLA seafood options and daily Southern homestyle plates. I have been going here for the past 18 years. It’s also a local favorite. If he’s around as for Mason as your waiter.
Yummy eats for all! We were looking for a place with outside seating. We had excellent shrimp poboys, fried catfish, and Mac and cheese. The remoulade sauce was fantastic!
Only negative is no sweet tea, but only unsweetened tea. If you are a Southerner, this is shocking 😳We will be back. Unsweet tea and all.
Food was good. Outdoor seating was nice.
It has a homey feel so that is nice.. the beniets were good but really a hush puppy. We had fried chicken and it came with mash potatoes and gravy w some green beans. All were super salty, I should have asked for the gravy on the side. My friend had mac and cheese.. that looked delicious! Service was borderline on point. Meaning she was there when we needed her.. but we did have to think about where she was. So close! So close. I would make the trek from bourbon street again!
Wow! Start off with the onion rings and and follow up with The BEST Caesar salad that I have ever had. Great Bloody Mary's!!! Highly recommend the shrimp and grits.
Great atmosphere, humane prices, great quality food...the perfect immersion into New Orleans cuisine. Tried the gumbo (of course), the jambalaya, poboy sandwich...very very yummy (just keep in mind that you cant eat this every day without certain weight increase 😁 ...not exactly heart health friendly). Super friendly staff. …
Excellent restaurant. Great people
Food is ALWAYS good when we come to Joey Ks. The wait time was a little longer than usual. We had to wait about 15 minutes for our waitress to come get our drink orders. Besides that, she was very nice and the food was delicious
Oh my laaaaawwwwwddd where do I begin from the atmosphere to the nice people don’t even get me started on the people that work there absolutely AMAZING I tried calling they are closed today I just wanted thank my waiter an the manager very much that was the best fried chicken red Ben and rice an seafood gumbo I ever had like I wanna cry cause I’m from MASSACHUSETTS an there is nothing like this there IF YOUR EVER IN NOLA PLEAAAASSSEEE TRY THEM YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED !!!!
Great lunch spot on Magazine. I enjoyed my jambalaya.
Went for MoM's Day wit my son his treat ser. Was gr8 my sons ordered salmon .it was beautiful he ate it all..! Loved it
But me I ordered veal cutlet it was horrible! My crust slid rite off to reveal a frost bitten piece of white meat looked like?pork?chop or watever no taste !!I would not have paid for it my son did waitress offered stumping else but son had prior engagement I was crushed !"memorable".....
Local eats, great food. This location was on our list based on Yelp reviews, but we actually wound up there by accident that night. Another restaurant nearby closed unexpectedly. Good news for us! The food was really good, the service was great and the specials were fantastic. We each selected a different special and we were all pleased with our choice. Good old home cooked meals. 😋
This place is iconic NOLA. Eat dessert first -- blackberry cobbler al la mode! Great gumbo, classic New Orleans dishes, nice atmosphere and accommodates children.
The food was good and I was happy to see the staff diligently checking for vaccinations.
With the road construction in the area we had to park a couple of blocks away but the walk was good for us.
Finally went to Joey K's. Was not disappointed. Simple menu with great New Orleans favorites and daily specials. We had stewed chicken and hamburger steak. Both very tasty. Will return.
My husband and I were on NO for a week long conference and discovered this place on our last full day in town. We thoroughly enjoyed our food, I had grilled salmon with red potatoes and mixed vegetables. Everything was well seasoned and delicious. I topped the dinner off with their bread pudding which was awesome! We will definitely visit this restaurant again when we return to Nola!
Yummmmm! Gumbo, red beans and rice and roast beef po' boy were totally delicious! Everything has a ton of flavor and the portions are generous.
The service was good and quick. I felt like the food could of had more flavor yet it was still tasty.
This review is long overdue! We booked Joey Ks for our wedding reception back in October sight unseen after reading their reviews. Since we lived near New Jersey, we heavily relied on communication and pictures of the room (which they provided with no problem). The ability to have a virtual tour of the venue was amazing (the room looks exactly the same in person I might add). The prices were affordable and the menu was quite impressive. Even adding additional sangria and beer to our menu didn't kill our pockets. My family and I decided to have a family dinner when we arrived to NOLA before our guests came to try their food and we were NOT disappointed, we were definitely happy with our choice for sure after our meals, even our 6 old devoured his alfredo. We requested to see the venue in person as well and asked to drop off our guestbook and a few items while we were there. They were perfectly fine with it and when we arrived for the reception, the guestbook was set up beautifully as well as the food. Jeffrey was also assisting with anything we needed! He was awesome!!! Even helped me with a wedding shoe snafu. They have a system that plays music with an aux cord or USB plug in (I would bring an adaptable charger and aux cord to avoid any issues as technology loves no one). The food again was amazing, as we had a simple ceremony we didn't decorate as the decor of the room itself was enough for us and all of our guests as well as they were very impressed by the venue and enjoyed time on the porch as well as the gentle breeze that came through the doors. If you're looking for a venue please check them out. Especially if you're out of town. Will definitely eat here next time we visit!
Family friendly atmosphere, casual dining. Friendly and efficient staff. Food came out fast. We had the grilled cheese on rye bread, dressed, and we shared large sweet potatoe fries. It was very good, but it was more of a sandwhich with melted cheese than a grilled cheese. It was still tasty though! The other meals I saw people with looked delicious. I'd go back again, even for the same meal.
Absolutely delicious food. It was on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives for good reason! Staff was very friendly and prices were reasonable. They did get a little busy around lunch which made it hard to get hold of our waitress, but it was lunch rush, so it was understandable.
Just an OK restaurant. Very limited menu during Sunday Brunch. Had we known we wouldn't have come. There is a fantastic empanadas restaurant just a block away that I would recommend instead.
Great selection. Excellent execution. The catfish poboy was outstanding. The catfish was perfectly cooked. The veal cutlet was delicious and huge. The fried green tomatoes? Awesome. The crab and corn beignets were fabulous. I'd eat the remoulade on ice cream. Loved it.
Joey K's is the most welcoming restaurant in my opinion on Magazine St. The wait staff is amazing and the food is even more amazing. There daily specials are hard to beat any day of the week! The atmosphere is as good as the food and service, all the reclaimed wood from within the restaurant is truly a work of art. I highly recommend Joey K's to all!! Thanks Mr Sam for your awesome hospitality!!
The food is excellent, staff is great. Go here!
Pretty good food, great atmosphere. Terrible waitress. I think her name was Bethany but I really don’t remember because she hardly talked to us. She mostly ran around trying to look busy while obviously flirting with a male staff. We noticed another server was busting her tail. Our waitress brought us a bread basket with 2 pieces of bread in it and said that’s all there was but she would bring more. She never did. We flagged her down for drink refills. We wished we had the other server. Would go back but just hope for a different server.
We had a variety of food. The best part was the bread pudding with rum sauce. I enjoyed the beef brisket as well. Service isn't horrible either. It's a small place with a bar. They're genuinely nice
Decent food and a reasonable price.
Sat outside in the mid-afternoon and it was great! The food was delicious and our server was friendly. Normally I find myself waiting, trying to catch the server's attention so I can ask for the check, but she brought it to us at the perfect time. 10/10 would recommend
Over-rated. Seated quickly but then we sat. And sat some more just to put in our order. Waited again for our fried artichoke hearts. These were probably the best thing we got. Red beans and rice were "okay" as was the roast beef debris sandwich. Eggplant Neopolitan pasta was better but not outstanding. Service was slow. Check had been tallied before we were even served which is beyond irritating.
Unfortunately, I don't have photos but I did want to come here and say i loved the food AND the service. I didn't have any complaints. The red beans and rice were phenomenal as were the mixed veggies and sweet potato soup. It's popular with the locals.
This was the first restaurant I went to in New Orleans after moving here.
Every time I go here the food is constantly good and the people friendly. This place is as local as you can go. It's well priced and the servings are a good southern amount.
The service can be slow but they will get to you. If you go during typical dinner rush hours, expect to wait. Totally worth it if you have the time.
Words do not do this meal justice. I had the fish tacos w/ red beans & rice and sampled the fried fish and salsbury steak. Every thing I ate was amazing. The red beans and rice stole the show!! We topped it off with bread pudding... Oh man, I don't want to eat bread pudding anywhere else ever. It was perfect.
Good food. Friendly staff. Cool artwork. Outdoor seating was a bonus.
The corn and crab bisque was delicious.
Wide selection of food. Too much cheese on my meal. Next time I'll ask them for less. I'm sure they writing accomodate
Great food, quick, attentive service. My wife and I shared a fried seafood platter with a side Caesar salad and both were absolutely amazing! We waited about 30 minutes for a table on a Saturday night, but it was totally worth it. They offer daily specials that all sounded appealing.
Trout Tchoupitoulas was delicious and the vegetables were well cooked.
One of the best places to eat in New Orleans. Not only was the food great but the owner, busy as she was made time to talk to us for 10 minutes. Would recommend to any one visiting New Orleans.
The service was great! Food ok. I've had better there. Beans and rice with sausage came out warm..not hot and no sausage at all...fried chicken was pink around the bone. Not a great food experience. My friends thought it was ok.
Fast, friendly service. It was all so good! My wife had the Shrimp Magazine, I stole several bites before she slapped my hand away. The all you can eat catfish was punching well above its weight class and may be the best meal I've eaten that came with fries.
First trip here to Nola and this place hit the spot on our first night here. We showed up RIGHT before they closed but they insisted we stay. The food was awesome .... I told our waitress to suprise me with some local brew and that was f'n awesome too. I would def recommend the roast beef debris po boy !!!
Had a fantastic roast beef po' boy and a side of red beans and rice. Everything was amazing. Service was slammed but our server still got everything out at a reasonable time.
This was exactly the experience I was looking for. Casual, authentic, well served food. Of course, being French, it's a little too deep-fried for me, but hey, at least you get what you buy!
Also, a very very special kudos to Jill, she is the best and deserves a medal of honor for being so patient and understanding
Went here based off of local recommendations. Absolutely fantastic brunch on Sunday. I had the blackened shrimp with cheesy grits. My compadres had the chicken and biscuits in sausage gravy. One of the best midday meals ive had in New Orleans
Oh so good! Chicken fried steak = perfect comfort food!
Just sat down ... Gabriella is our server and doing a terrific job. Ambiance for breakfast is great. Terrific menu. Bypass the Broken Egg Cafe and come here ...
The gumbo is great and so was the bread pudding. Next time I'll get the po-boy roll since the bun I got for debris roast beef was made for burgers.
What a great little stop. We just wanted a non-chain restaurant serving local food and this was perfect. Ordered a little of everything to try as much as we could and everything was great. The crab and corn Beignets were different from anything I'd ever tried. The jambalaya was delicious, but I can't do anything spicy, so had to pass this on to my son. The red beans and rice were great and the fried shrimp po-boys were perfect. Highly recommend.
Crab-stuffed Beignets were really good
GREAT GUMBO!! nice fried green tomatoes.
Great food fun people love the atmosphere
Food perfectly proportioned, and excellent taste! Service was top notch!! 🥰
Everything was delicious. Eggplant Napoleon was my favorite! Shrimp Magazine and Jambalaya also so good ! Has decent amount of outdoor seating with excellent sanitation and mask wearing by staff.
Wow, great place to eat
Great food, amazing service. We have been in new Orleans last few days and spend most our time downtown. It's fun but honestly, just crazy .
Took the team out to the garden district, gorgeous houses clean streets- and nobody screaming on every corner. You got to get out there- to top it of we walked by Joey K, this place is a treasure were price and service fit the way it should be.
Really good. The portions are big so we shared our chicken parmigiana. The seafood looked great as did the jambalaya. Soup was a corn crab bisque. Yum
Amazing service! The servers were so nice and the food was good. If I’m in Nola again, will definitely come back
I've seen some bad reviews about service, but our experience was fantastic. Mason was very friendly and helpful. It started to rain and he got us inside without us asking. Great food and drinks. We will come back for sure!!
By far the best food in NOLA for the price!
