Reviews of Jewel of the South

Fabulous! Eye opening flavors! The cocktails were top notch! My husband and I went for our anniversary and we were served a welcome drink! We went all out for the caviar which is delicious and 3 plates which could easily be shared. As well as a desert! Its not a place for picky eaters but for a special occasion and you want to explore your taste pallet, go for it!

OFF THE BEATEN PATH, 100% WORTH FINDING - we were recommended this place by friends, and what a gorgeous place this is. We were there for Sunday brunch prior to jazz fest and had a wonderful experience. Hipster staff serve well executed cocktails and unique food from the tiniest kitchen. NOLA has so many dining options, but please check this place out… !!! AMBIENCE - this place is so cute, attention to detail is perfect, such an intimate space for dining too! SERVICE - well informed staff guided us through a menu that is perhaps different (in a really great way) with some heavy influences from the UK. Go say hi to Grant the English chef, he really is turning out excellent food that is highly unique! MENU - can’t speak highly about the food on offer, every dish was fantastic, let the staff guide you, and be adventurous- BOOZE - loved the cocktails, wine list was good too, and some great local beers. SUMMARY - can’t recommend this place highly enough, it’s in a relatively out of the way locale, but worth a visit. We will be back for sure!

Enjoyed several dishes that were really great that flavor was perfect and cooked well. Service is exceptional for drinks for serve very well and the bartender is very poignant. Had a chance to meet some of the kitchen staff and they are very on point with what they do. They do have a upstairs area for private parties which was being used at the time and have a back courtyard for dining outside. The dining area is small downstairs I recommend reservations.
A very unique water closet here where the wash sink is shared and the mirror for the wash thing it's on the wall outside that you look at through a window.

This gem of a place is on the very edge of the Quarter on St. Louis Street. Tucked behind the beautiful old building is a lovely courtyard and the entrance to a beautiful bar area and more tables. Maddie and Vince took excellent care of us, listening to what we liked and making appropriate recommendations for craft cocktails. It's an intimate atmosphere to enjoy both traditional and contemporary cocktails along with caviar (if you're into that), small plates of seasonal food offerings and attention to details.

This old house is recreating cocktail history. Generally I'm not a huge cocktail drinker. These made me a believer. The balance and structure of each drink is superb! My friend and I also ordered a few dishes which were also excellent. I'll be back the next time I'm in town. Thank you for the hospitality!

What an incredible experience! From the drinks to the amazing food to the charming atmosphere to the amazing customer service… I loved this spot! The kitchen was running behind and they gave us a complimentary dish and glass of wine, we were going to be happy either way, but definitely an added plus! I also love that this place takes a % on each bill to give their employees benefits. Added to my favorites and highly recommended!

First time dining at jewel of the south after hearing amazing things about them. They fell nothing short of exceptional in every aspect. The service was impeccable, Madi made my boyfriend and I feel right at home. The cocktails were so refreshing, very happy with our choices. We got the French 75 and the Feast of Avalon. The food was perfect. We had the wagyu beef tongue, the pork belly, shishito peppers with bacon fat creme, cantaloupe with prosciutto and ricotta, and we ended the night with an amazing malted chocolate custard. Definitely coming back to this jewel!

I wanted our first restaurant in New Orleans to be tasty with good reviews and we lucked out the rating reflected our experience. 5/5 stars, our server was attentive to our table and very courteous. Our food came out in good intervals. Starters were foie gras with ginger bread, complemented with ginger jelly, HOLY GINGER! They went hand in hand. Bone marrow and focaccia was flavorful. Entrees were Ribeye with truffle butter & frittes. Also tried the sweetbreads, first time trying it but it had a nice fry to it, had a chewiness to it. Buffalo flavor complemented it nicely. Desserts, I prefer the strawberries with Creme fresh over the currant puff pastry. Great ambiance!

The drinks were fantastic. Interesting flavors and well presented. The best thing we ordered was the tuna tartar. Loved the contrast of the crispy sweatbreads with the soft tuna and crunch of the veg. Heirloom carrots were great flavor wise but I feel as though they were undercooked. Too crunchy. Was told they were poached and then baked. In my opinion sous vide to start would be better as it would ensure the inside is cooked without providing too much browning that might hide the other complex flavors. The foie was a strange dish in that I felt the prune was the star of the show. Without the prune, the dish was bland. The foie could benefit from more aggressive seasoning. Texture wise the dish was great with the toasted bread and the creamy parfait. The zucchini dish was possibly our least favorite. Simply underseasoned and the choice to not scoop out the seed core of the zucchini contributed to the watering down of seasoning and flavor. Miso alone does not provide enough salt. The caviar service was nice. The potato scallops were delicious but I wish they served the creme fraiche and the chives in separate dishes so I could more easily control how much chive I wanted, if at all. Finally we ordered the gougere with parmesan cream. Conceptually makes sense but lacked depth due to the richness of the cheese not being balanced by anything. We told our server something like a tomato jam would provide nice acidity to contrast the otherwise tasty parmesan.
Tldr: drinks and tartar carried the meal. Would come back for drinks alone.

We stopped here for a cocktail before dinner elsewhere as we were told they had the best sazeracs - true! We each ordered different drinks and they were all amazing. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly, helpful and entertaining. We had so much fun we thought about going back the next night.

Jewel of the South is a beautiful, warm and romantic space nestled on the border of the Quarter. We went for a nightcap and dessert, and loved it enough to want to return for dinner. The peach tarragon Negroni was delicious. The chocolate mousse was a perfect end to the evening. The service was friendly and helpful. The courtyard is gorgeous when the weather permits.

One of the greatest places in America to get a cocktail. Had the best Bronx cocktail I've had in my life. Chris and his team have done a wonderful job. We were welcomed in late by the hostesses and were seated at the bar which was a treat. A must do for any visitor, or local, to New Orleans
Israel Valdemar, Jr.
Stopped in for a drink and had the best experience of our weekend! Must visit place for food and drinks. Bar service made the experience, the bartender walked over to go over our cocktail order and asked if there were any tweaks we wanted and made suggestions to step them up.

(repost from another account) I loved this place. Not only are things beautiful, well executed and delicious, but they take the time to craft “experiences” for the less avid diner and cocktail-ET to expose them to things on their menu they might not normally try. I did the cocktail experience one night, then returned for a special menu the following night where the chef explored a meal using all parts of the hog with an optional beverage pairing. It was funky, quirky, courageous, aesthetically beautiful, tasty, awesome. Great, warm, knowledgeable service. Cozy, beautiful real estate. Attentive management. Loved.

Amazing cocktails, well-priced for what you get.
The food is great, if a bit pricey. You're paying for the novelty of new and different ideas in many instances, but it can be worth it for some. Come prepared to spend a lot if you're hungry.
Desserts are small and lackluster, if not sometimes flatly bad.
There's a note at the bottom of the menu that all checks have a few over 4% added to support their staff, and they word it to make themselves sound benevolent. Really cheapens what would otherwise be a decent restaurant.
If you need to charge 4.5% more on everything, you increase the price of everything by that much. Don't tuck it away at the bottom of your menu as an additional fee, try to play it off as you caring for your workers, then still expect guests to leave a full tip. The service here is great, and this fee is just going to encourage people to tip less.
Go here for cocktails, the atmosphere, and perhaps food if you're up for a culinary adventure with a high price tag.
Quit trying to hide and explain away extra fees, you're supposed to be a fine restaurant, not a used car lot.

Dynamite cocktails. Didn’t take any pictures of them, but across the board we loved them. The service was pleasant and helpful but not overbearing.
My 3/5 comes from the food. This food was terrible. $48 for a subpar piece of meat was really disappointing. The greens were nasty. Hollandaise sauce is fantastic, but just had to cover the rest of the food with it to mask the meh taste.
Markus Rhoten
Top notch drinks and the best Sazerac I had in NOLA! Super friendly service and very clean bar! Just like the speakeasies in NY..
Ted Loveland
Amazing experience, fantastic service, food and drinks were top notch. Will highly recommend this place to anyone visiting French Quarter!
Andres Garcia
Vince is an amazing bartender! These were some of the best drinks we’ve had here in the quarter. I really do recommend it to anyone. Definitely a favorite!!!!
Jonathan Thompson
Girlfriend and I stopped in to get drinks as they opened on a Saturday afternoon. We sat at the bar and had the privilege of being served by Chris Hannah himself--such a kind, knowledgeable, and unassuming guy! All four of the seasonal cocktails we tried were *phenomenal* and very unique. Can't really speak to the food since we only had one small appetizer with our drinks. But if you like craft cocktails, do yourself a favor and check out JotS! I will definitely be visiting this place every time I get back to NOLA.
Cara DellaVedova
The Jewel of the South is truly a jewel. Every detail was considered from the darling elephant purse hooks to the beautiful decor to the heady cocktail menu. The service was delightful without being intrusive. Definitely on the list of places to visit whenever I’m in town.
Chelsea Flickinger
By far the best dinning experience we had on our trip to New Orleans. The space itself is beautiful, the staff were so friendly providing recommendations and had great energy and the FOOD was incredible. I am already looking forward to when I can come back!
Libby Nicholaou
They have a great wine selection. I loved the barbera. The veggie dishes are refreshing and inspiring. I recommend the beets, squash, and radishes. The beef tongue is incredibly tender. Really friendly staff and cute vibe too
Benji
Loved the atmosphere, Crusty Brandy and French 75 drinks with Tuna Tartare. Was served by the two bartenders who were polite, prompt and offered advice for other places to see in the city. Expect fine dining portions with excellent flavors.
Olivia Karim
Best cocktail I’ve ever had. The vibe was amazing, the patio was so nice to sit in, we didn’t want to leave. We came not hungry and we still stuffed ourselves with the fois gras, tuna tartar, and the deviled eggs. Incredible experience. Highly recommend.
Sergiusz Wesolowski
All three of us got heavy food poisoning that put us out of business for over 24hrs. There is nothing else we have eaten that evening so unfortunately it directly points to this location. We warned the restaurant, so far no response. Unfortunately, because the dishes were great and everything else was perfect about our experience.
Update: manager reached out to us with apologies, offered to cover the dinner if we come again and assured that they are implementing highest standards in food control, especially after the remark they are extra careful.
El S.
Only had cocktails so that's all I can speak on. They were great! Very original and creative. Service was wonderful! Can't wait to go back and try the food.

We were very exited to check out Jewel Of The South. We did not have a reservation and we thought we can get a table as walk in’s. At first they wanted to sit us at the shutters, a single table on the street next to the garbage containers facing the bar window, we declined. When we came back about half hour later we were able to get two seat on the bar(first come first serve) and we were very happy to start our meal. Unfortunately as the food first started to arrive we were very disappointed. At first the puff pastry with Parmesan cream were cold and tasted like they were sitting on the shelves for hours.
Then the carrot and zaatar dish felt like it belongs to the sweets section of the menu. The roasted carrots are sweet already, then glazed with some spiced sugar cane glaze on top of somewhat sweet yogurt did not work at all.
We also ordered the 40+$ short rib and mash pomme that was quite good except for the sticky bone marrow sauce that was on top of it.
Overall for dining experience I would give it two stars.
I would give 4 stars to the staff that was very friendly and accommodating
And 4 stars for the bartenders that made me a really good Trinidad old fashion and a dirty martini.
Will go there only for drinks, not food.
Mitchell Lucas
Adorable cocktail spot in the French Quarter. Delicious drinks with really well balanced flavors. Bartender made my GF a Grasshopper (our first time trying one)... very tasty.
The patio looked so nice but unfortunately there was a private party out there. I'll be back next time I'm in NOLA; hopefully I can get a spot out on the patio!

We only were able to get a reservation last minute because of the impending rain and were lucky enough to be able to move inside to have what would be one of the best meals I've had in Nola.
The Jewel is known for its amazing craft drinks, and they did not disappoint, with each of the three I had being extraordinary in flavor and just overall ingenuity. The one I was most skeptical of that our great server, Patrick, encouraged the most, ended up being the best of the three and contained an odd mixture of gin and sour and the Nola holy trinity.
The food was equally excellent, with my wife commenting that the meal was equal to that of several of the Michelin starred restaurants we'd been too. The scallops were my favorite, but the Gougeres should be had just to say you had chicken parfait and prune in a pastry.
Highly recommend.

Stellar cocktail experience. I make it a point to visit every time the menu changes. Some of the best cocktails in New Orleans, no question, and the rotating menu of snacks is always delicious. Chris and his team are superb. Highly recommend.

Had a lovely time here dining with friends. This is definitely a unique incarnation best served in an intimate setting with a small group of friends or on a date. The key factor is to come here prepared to share in the fine cuisine and libations you will take part in. The service is great and attentive. We sampled about 5 different menu items, though the portions were small they were delicious and the small morsels of flavor from each item were well worth the slightly higher price tag than options around it. Would highly recommend as something different and quite enjoyable to get away from the rambunctiousness is the French Quarter. Our favorite fish was the hummus, the flavor profile was very deep and worth ordering.

Jewel of the Soup seems to have hired only the most knowledgeable staff in the New Orleans food and beverage scene. For example. they take great care in making the drinks. Your hurricane will not be a koolaide sugar bomb.
The courses are inventive. Think bone marrow in a creme with caviar and cornbread crisps as the scoop. Also, I enjoyed Waygu short rib with a scalloped potato dish.
The restaurant is an attractive building in the French Quarter with a wonderful courtyard. This is a restaurant for discerning foodies. The small plates with the drinks add up but hey your likely not going to a fine dining restaurant in New Orleans if you are on a budget.
Lee Applewhite
This was one of the best dinners we got in town. Easily seated a group of 6 of us in the upstairs area. We loved the carrots and steak tartare the most.
Vera Deckard
We had New Year’s Eve dinner here and it was spot on. Service was amazing, atmosphere was magical. And the food was perfect. We will definitely be back.
Kim Woodard
This is a MUST! The atmosphere is wonderful, the drinks are awesome and my favorite is the chees plate!! This is perfect for all occasions. A night out with friends or that special someone. Even by yourself. You can't go wrong with a nite out at the Jewel of the South. A place to get out and feel safe in the midst of covid.
evelyn carter
Service was great with cool atmosphere. I had high expectations for the cocktails and was underwhelmed. The food was good but the flavors weren’t as complex and interesting as I expected with the price point and hype of this place.
Megan Kleckner
Every detail about this place was unique. Inventive southern food with twists. Amazing combinations of flavors that were pleasantly unexpected. A great place for sharing many small plates. Cocktails were balanced and delicious. In a quiet area on the Fringe of the French Quarter. Very quaint atmosphere.
Edelyn Parker-Frye
The best find in NOLA! Food, drinks, service, everything top notch. Don’t sleep on Jewel!! Its patio is truly a DON’T miss!
Jennifer Granito
Great cocktails - even off menu orders were very well done.
The outside seating has a tall walk around it with no other tall buildings nearby, kind of giving you the feeling of openness or it's just your friends and the sky on a beautiful night.
Paul Hammer
Wonderful bar with perfect cocktails. We came for one of the evening set menus and had an amazing experience. Loved the "guest" cocktails on the menu as well as the theme and strong concept of the night. Can't wait to keep back during another season. And I've been to Arnaud's, Sazerac Bar and many others in New Orleans... THIS is the best sazerac in town.
Xuechun Wang
Feast of Avalon is the top 3 drinks in my life.
Kyshali Ramirez
Simply amazing! Loved the food, drinks, atmosphere, and the staff is stupendous!
Update post covid. The menu is much smaller, but still very well thought out and tasty.
Chris Tucker
Lots to love here, cozy atmosphere, a wide assortment of tasty bites, and a great drink program. And friendly service. A definite plus for the northside of the quarter/Rampart St.
Kent
We stopped in one evening after hearing some live music being played. I had heard the brandy krustas were good so I took them up on that. They were excellent, so we shared the Burrata dish. Also excellent. I highly recommend.
Saint Apocryphal
We enjoyed our visit to Jewel of the South for brunch. The setting on the patio was classic New Orleans. The food was pretty good. Those bloody Mary's were killer. The waitress was friendly, fun, and provided great service. Typical of New Orleans the drink menu was much longer than the food menu (and that is okay!) Be aware that the brunch menu is limited. If you have food restrictions you might want to check before you go.
Frank Chen
Great hidden gem off bourbon street that opened recently. The bartender makes delicious craft cocktails in a low key vibe. Definitely worth checking out if you want something a bit classier than the bars on Bourbon Street and you like nice cocktails.
Audrey Anderson
Hands down the best restaurant in New Orleans. The food and the combination of flavors were absolutely genius. Service was impeccable. Drinks were custom craft cocktails. It’s clean, charming, inviting, and quaint. But what I love most is that it’s not in the center of the quarter, so you’re not in the chaos. This place is perfect in every way. Will come back here every time I visit New Orleans.
Miles Bergstrom
We stopped in on a slow Sunday night for a couple of cocktails at the bar. Jewel has a wonderful list of rotating specials and classic cocktails. Not to mention if you have a favorite they can likely make it if they had all of the ingredients.
We struck up a conversation with staff who were more than happy to share multiple recommendations with us throughout the city and what they felt were areas/restaurants/etc we should not miss. On top of that they reinforced the places we had been were excellent choices and that we had good intel.
All in all we became fast friends with the staff who displayed Southern Hospitality. I could not recommend this place higher to anyone looking for a quiet area in the quarter to grab a cocktail and have a conversation with the staff as to why the love New Orleans.
Katie Leonard
Just...wow. We are big cocktail snobs and this place delivered on every level. It’s an intimate space with PERFECT cocktails. Our bartender Cass was incredibly knowledgeable and came up with the most incredible bartenders choice drinks for us.
Andrew T.
Delicious dinner in a quiet back garden. Hidden restaurant close to the saenger! Great experience. Friendly staff. Definitely recommend checking this place out when in NOLA!
Maria Ginger-Wiley
A truly elevated dining experience. We chose the chefs menu, and it was magnificent! Service was spot on and so gracious! A jewel indeed 💜 Thank you! …
Jonathan Pepe
We had a wonderful champagne brunch here, the food is inventive and maybe a bit healthier than your standard option. The staff was very warm and welcoming, and took great care of us. Cocktails are out of this world although so are the prices for some of them.
Taslim Khan
Absolutely loved the place. I read about this restaurant and the cocktails in Esquire. Went and tried it and then booked a table for dinner the next day. Went back - had great food and a great time. Wonderful done dining and bourbon and scotch experience. I highly recommend it.
Terri Elder
Popped into Jewel of the South to try the Brandy Crusta, it did not disappoint. I think it was my favorite cocktail in New Orleans. It is a quaint place with so much charm!
Anna Loring
Wanted to drink every cocktail on the menu and eat all the bar snacks. Great service. Great atmosphere. Good music at the perfect volume for vibes and chat.
Lee Hopper
Best cocktail spot I’ve found in New Orleans. If you are looking for a real craft cocktail bar, this is the place. The service deserves a 5 star too, they learned my name and used it. Made me feel like a regular, which I would be if I lived here.
Aaron Ardillo
Chris Hannah (God of the French 75) finally has his own lovely cocktail bar and boy is it amazing. These drinks are incredible. They really take their time and make each one to perfection. Definitely try the Brandy Crusta or the French 75 if you can’t decide!
Cameron Nepini
Excellent all around! Fantastic service, wonderful cocktails, and a great atmosphere. Definitely worth trying while in New Orleans!
Sarah West
This was a truly wonderful experience. We went only for drinks before our dinner reservations and really enjoyed the craft cocktails as well as the fantastic service and personal bartenders. We even went back after dinner for a night cap and dessert. I will say that on goggle there is no specification when the kitchen closes so we were sans dessert but still a great experience!
Drew Copeland
Hands down had the best meal, drinks, and service here. Had met one of the owners the night before at Manolito's the night before and he suggested we come by and we were super glad we did. He even gave us suggestions for other places to check out as well like stopping by Erin Rose afterwards for a Frozen Irish Coffee.

Another visit to New Orleans, another perfect night at this gem. One of a couple restaurants I book on every single one of my many visits to New Orleans. It always exceeds my memories of the last visit. The food and cocktail menus are inventive, delicious and beautifully executed. The service is knowledgeable and attentive but warm and unobtrusive. And the atmosphere and space are very special.

I have really mixed feelings about our experience at Jewel of the South. I made the reservation a few days before based on the online menu, which had a few typical entree options (think snapper and filet) and several unique small plates. Although they said there was a changing menu, I assumed the structure would be the same and there would be at least few entree options. However, I was VERY wrong. The day of our reservation, I checked the menu again and it was completely different. The options were caviar, 3 choices of atypical meats (black pudding, sweetbreads, and bone marrow), and about 6 dishes made with very similar root vegetables (celeriac, turnip, etc) with a few other small options (burrata salad, bone marrow mousse). We would have cancelled because this was supposed to be our dinner, and while most of our party enjoys trying different foods one member was relying on a more typical option. Also, this was not a dinner menu at all, but the price for cancelling was absolutely outrageous at $40 a person so we went and awkwardly decided what to order, got 2 things and left as soon as possible. The quality of what we ordered (burrata and the cheapest caviar) was fantastic, and the service was nice which is why this place is not horrible. The concept is just not well executed and while I appreciate a creative chef with unique options, this place is definitely a cocktail bar with expensive creative snacks. Do NOT come here for dinner and I would advise against making any reservation. It's a place best suited for walking in and checking out, but we will not return. Also, I can see why there is a cancellation fee; otherwise, I'm sure most of their business would not have happened. People can't commit to dining at a place without any sense of consistency.

Everything we had was just the best. We loved our server and the food and drink were out of this world. The only thing that could’ve been better was their Strawberry dessert. I was Lacking something…the description made it sound like it was going to be more like a strawberry shortcake, but there was no bread or cake with it. I shared that small disappointment with my server and learned that the dessert is now served that way. I will be back and will likely order two of those! It also has the most charming little courtyard and people their seem to love their work, all important.
Helen Michelassi
Excellent food for both vegetarians and carnivores. Service is excellent and cocktails are unique and great. The Staff are efficient, friendly and the best Staff in New Orleans!
Mary DeRome
Amazing menu, ate any things I have been waiting to try, such as bone marrow and blood sausage, plus tripe and celeriac.
Ricardo Reyes
the best cocktails in New Orleans. The menu was so inventive I had a tough time picking a single dish. an incredible dinner experience full of southern hospitality.
Ari Laniado
The food we tried was all fantastic. The cocktails were phenomenal. Bartender was incredibly knowledgable and made the whole experience outstanding
Regan Choffin
Such a unique spot in the quarter. The food and drinks are perfected here; the played are highlighted best when shared amongst the table. Some favorites include the zucchini, the sweet potatoes with seaweed butter, the bone marrow (with wood-fired bread that's been soaked in fat and served with pickled parsley!), And burrata. The sundry drinks are inventive and expertly crafted. It's a small house and reservations are strongly recommended (a few days ahead, if possible!).
Ross Moran
I heard from Abby that everything on the entire menu was FANTASTIC, and oh boy, I could not have said it better myself. I had to top Abby somehow, but how could I one up someone that had ordered the entire menu. Then it came to me. I ordered the entire menu twice. It was twice as good the second time.
Bob Fearon
Fantastic place. Walked in just wanting drinks and they accommodated us for 9.
They didn't have too but gladly did.
Great drink menu and recommendations were spot on.
Patrick Wickett
The staff were extremely helpful. Vince in the bar deserves a raise. A lovely spot.
Patrice E.
Very nice cocktail hour. Drinks were fabulous; service was excellent! I highly recommend this experience.
Anthony Licciardi
Cocktail and Staff were amazing! We ordered several items from the food menu and it definitely is a place geared towards aesthetic rather than taste. Every restaurant has their niche, totally get that. We did order one dish that really needed any flavor we could get our hands on. All six of us requested ketchup and we were told the head chef didnt allow ketchup. I completely understand the sentiment however….if you won’t allow ketchup…your food better not require it. Felt a little snobby and I don’t usually encounter that with New Orleans chefs. I will say two of the appetizers we got were great! The mains need some work.
Whoever’s running the beverage game there rocks! I think some new culinary input would really make this a place Nola natives can enjoy just as much as tourists.
Y C
My humble opinion: the food here is at most ok. BUT, a big but, the cocktails here are the best I’ve ever had in not only New Orleans but in the world.
Abby Gerrity
Best new restaurant in New Orleans!!! We ordered the entire menu, other than the oxtail and sweet breads, and everything was FANTASTIC. All dishes were unique, well portioned, modern, and delightful flavors and textures. Also, our waiter was top notch. The vibe is very romantic, classic New Orleans. It is the ideal intimate dining experience. Just ate there tonight and already made another reservation for two weeks from now.
Patrick McNamara
A most pleasant evening, with excellent food! The staff is attentive and friendly. Jewel of the South embodies old New Orleans hospitality and ambiance and layers delicious contemporary dishes on top.
Jackie D
A nice intimate unique boutique feel the food was incredible and very unique definitely worth the experience
Drue Deshotels
Chris Hannah and his team has created a great space here, far enough off Bourbon to feel like a different area but close enough to walk. The food is great and so are the cocktails, I love the selection they have starting out, not too large but pretty extensive. The food has great diversity, and the space is warm, but comfortable. Of course, Chris is a great host, he took much of the atmosphere from French 75, but this place is a little more open (good) and a little less dressy (good) though you can dress up and not feel over dressed. This is a worthy New Orleans saloon that feels like it’s been here for years. Good job, gentlemen.
Nubnqen Williams
Great atmosphere. According to their employees, under normal times, it's ran as a full restaurant with a bar. But right now it is ran as a lounge which is such a great idea. You pre-pay but once you get there you sit back and enjoy the experience. Every month they have a different theme and March is wonderful. I hope they somehow keep the monthly themed happy hour around once the city open back up. The drinks and appetizers are wonderful and definitely it pleasing to the palate. I'll be there at least once a month to try the new themes. This is were the sassy and bougie resides!👑❤️🍹🍸❤️
Matt Davis
Very good craft cocktails. If you're looking for craft cocktails this is your place. All the standards are here, but you can get those anywhere. This is where you go when you want to try something a little different. Recommend Brandy Crusta or Night Tripper. Then again, try both!
Michael Barton
Jewel of the South is an excellent example of a progressive bar that's not afraid to push the boundaries of acceptable taste. Each drink is a step forward in cocktail palette. The Rule of Thirds is an excellent example as it combines spicy heat, a sweet cold pour, and a salty rim all in one. The Winter's Pimm's Cup is my personal favorite as it combines fruit from their own backyard into a twist on a classic for a brighter more filling taste. I absolutely look forward to returning and trying new menu items to discover flavors I never knew I never knew in cocktails or beverages in general.
Elizabeth Sarkisian
Wow. Rarely do places live up to the hype. Jewel of the South exceeded my expectations. Enjoy!

Fantastic cocktails. No signage yet due to New Orleans regs. Go through the parking lot and you'll see it. Impressive small dishes. Bone marrow cream anyone? Hell yeah! Understand before you go, your wallet will weigh substantially less when you leave, but if want some high end amazing cocktails, splurge and go for it, you intemperate knowledge seekers. Brace yourself for the bill though.

A wonderful new addition to the French Quarters and also to Rampart St. The drinks are all perfect classics and subtle variations of classics, especially the lesser-known cocktails that were invented in New Orleans. The food is mind blowingly good! The atmosphere is very sexy but also cozy and familiar. Great for any occasion!

I came here with 3 friends and we had the bulk of the menu as well as cocktails. Not one thing we ordered was something I wouldn’t order again, the whole meal was incredible! The courtyard was perfect on a nice evening and the inside has a very cozy vibe. The decor and design are a close second to the food and cocktails.
Jeff Levi
What a nice setting in a old New Orleans French Quarter home turned into a classic kraft bar including a tasty verity of menu items. Cocktails are right on. Staff is very helpful and accommodating. Bartenders are very personable and good a spinning some unique cocktails. Rated 5 Star.

Outdoor patio is magical with huge trees, walled privacy and a stunning angel statue. Great wine list and huge gulf shrimp Cajun style were best shrimp of my life. I went back next day and ordered them again. Five stars all around!

My wife an I had dinner and drinks here with 4 friends and we are so glad we came by. The small plates were perfect and all mind blowing delicious and would keep us coming back by themselves, but the cocktails......wow. We are so happy this place is here and will be back probably a little too much!

If you love a good bar show grab a seat w the mixologists and go down the list of hand crafted cocktails. The service was impeccable and their attention to being COVID safe was also commendable !
Bryan Woody
First time I've been here for brunch, but it won't be my last.

Everything at Jewel of the South screams "attention to detail." The food and service is always on point and Chris Hannah makes the best drinks in the city. I come here when I want my evening to be perfect and Im never disappointed.

The food here is stellar, best meal we had in New Orleans for sure; and that is saying a lot if you think about it. Cocktails were good too but paled in comparison.
Michael Hays
Jewel of the South is aptly named , for it is, a hidden jewel. Tucked away on St. Louis, this little bar serves, arguably, the best drinks in New Orleans. I started with the Night Tripper, and it was absolutely delicious. I then tried my first Sazerac and realized, I just don't like Sazeracs, but that's not the Jewels fault, for it tried it damndest with it's Sazerac, it's just not my cup of tea. The ambience is perfect for a lovely little date, for the decor and lighting were on point. I bartend at a hotel in New Orleans, and I will have to deem you worthy to know about The Jewel of the South
Michael Cohn
Wonderful renovation of a French Quarter Creole cottage. Many delicious small plate options and drink menu is creative but also familiar. It is on the edge of the Quarter but well worth the visit.
Bryan Musicar
Nice place with tasty food and great atmosphere. A little expensive for what is actually received, but nothing crazy compared to the rest of NOLA.
Greg Cook

All of the things we had were fantastic. The ambiance is spot on for a trendy new restaurant. I will say that everything seemed a bit overpriced and felt a little nickel and dime-ish, when it came to items like bread.
Elizabeth Johnson
