Reviews of Grand Isle Restaurant
What a great place to get some seafood and drinks. We got there just before the lunch hour rush and got seats at the bar. the server and bartender were both great and attentive. Food all looked great and the serving sizes were big. Lots of oyster options and fish. Ended up trying a few of the appetizer options and we enjoyed everything. Definitely gets crowed when there is a big convention going on so we were lucky to get a spot at the bar.
Went there for late lunch/early dinner right after they opened (4:00pm I think). Friendly staff. Had a pasta with crawfish tales -loved it. Could have bit more pasta though. Had a beer -happy hour was $1 or $2 or so discount. Also had a bread pudding dessert. Tasty as well. We also got a fried fish basket - cat fish, shrimp and maybe one more (not sure). Good as well. This place is a little but pricey. Did not appreciate gratitude automatically added to our tab. Would recommend to go there to try some sea food.
Unexpectedly knocked my socks off with excellent oyster selections and several delicious entrées including my blackened gulf fish which was kindly substituted with the pecan rice (vice potato) which was extraordinary.
Friendly service and one of the few NOLA places I know of that serves smoked/fried oysters with a delicious creamy remoulade and fresh chopped veggies. YUM!
Note: I have a small dispute with the mandatory 20% gratuity but in retrospect, it was worth it and we even added an additional tip amount.
Every bit was delicious 😮crawfish beignets, seafood po boy with delicious Asian slaw, salmon and amazing grits! The kids has burgers that they loved and kids meal stuff. They loves the French fries. Janique was a fabulous server for our little people. Thanks for such a great local experience …
I had the blackened fish which was delicious. The red fish was also a great choice. Excellent grilled flavor. Ate here twice and we loved everything. Also enjoyed their fruit punch
Amazing food, will definitely come back here. Started with the Shrimp JuJu, then entree of the blackened fish (flounder tonight) and crawfish was absolutely fantastic. Had the white chocolate bread pudding for dessert and it was divine.
I came in Saturday. Service was great. My drink was really good...... but the food lacked flavor. Like, I'm shocked. There was no seasoning in the seafood. I came here for dinner on my birthday in 2020 and loved the food. So, I was a bit disappointed. I'd come back. Just would not get or recommend the fried seafood.
Best Cajun Food Ever
Referred by hotel (Marriott) concierge. Short 10 minute walk from hotel lobby.
My server Faija was quick, busy, friendly and overall on it. She took my order within 2 minutes of my sitting area at a table in the bar area. There was a 2 hour wait for tables otherwise.
Food took a while due to short kitchen staff, but was well worth the wait.
Ordered Shrimp and Grits. Jumbo Louisiana shrimp in sauce on grits and corn. Absolutely amazing! Only complaint was the size, a bit too small.
I ordered an appetizer afterwards to finish, as the main course was indeed too small. Crawfish Beignets. Deep fried, a bit too much batter for my taste, but the filling was excellent.
I shall return.
Walking down Fulton St and stopped by on a whim, and I’m glad that I did. Excellent customer service and the food matched. Ordered the char grilled oysters, Fisherman stew, smoked fried oysters and Sangria. Everything was delicious. I’m from Michigan but when I come back this will be my first visit
Elonda was the perfect waitress!! A beautiful evening with delicious entrees!! We took home two orders of the crawfish beignet.. the shrimp and grits was amazing .. The Blackened Snapper with crawfish fried potatoes with spinach was the BUsiness !!!
We visited Grand Isle the evening before leaving on a cruise. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. The service was outstanding. Our server Beth F had such a great smile and personality. She checked on us numerous times and suggested a great local Pilsner Paradise Park. We ordered the Fried Platter. It definitely feeds two. Beth recommended a second side salad and she was correct. The salad was fresh and the fried seafood excellent. The crawfish beignet was a true treat. Definitely somewhere we will return on our next visit to New Orleans.
I am leaving 3 stars only because the food was good. Service was horrible it must be because they automatically include 20% tip which i don't mind paying if the service is good but, come on this must be the reason the servers there don't care and are so slow paced. Worst service i got in a while took us over 15 minutes just to get our first drinks and the place was not busy at all. The manager or whomever she is was most of her time on her computer instead of paying attention to the environment . Service seriously need to improve, it is such a shame ruined our experience.
Absolutely phenomenal. The food was great as was the service. Aaron was our server and gave outstanding recommendations and service. After listening to us. Aaron made dinner recommendations that were spot on. Had the redfish with crawfish cream sauce. Very, very good. Cooked perfect. Their hurricane is the best ever that I have tasted.
Had dinner here and everything was amazing! My husband had the award winning po boy, jalapeño popper, and I had the crawfish fettuccine with a side of shrimp. My son had the fisherman’s stew, which was so good, I had to try it! Service was awesome as well. Great selection of local beer, and Christmas on the Rocks was a really good mixed drink. We will definitely come again!
If you looking for one of the best places for sea food then this is the right place for you
Me personally come here for burger only cause it’s one of the best burgers that I had.
Very nice and clean place highly recommend it.
Went for dinner mid week in November. We had the hot crab dip for starters. We had the award winning poboy with jalapeño grits and the blackened gulf fish(sheepshead) with some kind of cheese potato cake. HOLY COW. Everything was amazing. One of the best meals we’ve had. We also were treated to a small random New Orleans parade; went right by the restaurant. Make this place a ‘must visit’ if you are in New Orleans.
The black fish dish is out of this world. Our host, Mark, was an awesome person and we had very fun conversations.
Had a great dinner here; first visit to NOLA, day 4 and best dinner yet! The staff were all kind and didn't mind that our 16 month old who wanted to walk around the entire restaurant several times. The food and drinks were all great; appetizer to dessert was amazing! Thank you for a wonderful night out!
We didn’t have to wait very long for a table and the food was delicious! Our waiter, Chad, was very friendly and attentive and the prices were reasonable for quality food.
This was my first place to eat in New Orleans and let's just say it didn't disappoint at all! The wife and I shared different items to get a taste of NO and you can taste the love and soul they put into their food! We had an order of Oysters, a shrimp po'boy, and fried calamari everything was amazing!
The food was good in my opinion. We sat at the bar and the environment sitting at the bar was great. Met great people had a couple laughs. The service however was less than desirable but wasn’t too terrible. It’s a must go again.
Had dinner here last night and everything was phenomenal. The Shrimp JuJu was probably the best thing we’ve ate this whole trip. Highly recommend! We sat outdoors and it was a perfect evening for it.
This was overall an incredible meal. The service was wonderful, solid dirty martini and the Pompano fish was probably the best I ever had; cooked to perfection. Also can't beat 1lb of crawfish for $7. I can't recommend this restaurant enough and reservations are recommended.
I had the Salmon and jalapeño corn grits when I say it was the great it was great as well as the service.
I love stopping to eat here every time I’m in the city. It’s welcoming of all kinds of people. The food is so good and fresh. The drinks are great, and it’s a great family restaurant. I feel comfortable taking my kids to eat here.
I loved the sheepshead dinner. I also tried the red fish and that was good. The grilled oysters were delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. I thought the food was a value. It was delicious at a reasonable price. I will go back.
Wonderful restaurant. We had the charbroiled oysters. Wife had the red fish and I had flounder. Seafood made right. And the service from Fagia and Callie was professional and pleasant. We look forward to our next visit.
Amazing seafood! Restaurant was nice, service was great!
Definitely 5 stars, and will return!!
I had the Blackened Gulf fish, hot Crab dip.
Absolutely amazing. Got seated at the oyster bar immediately without a reservation. Ordered chargrilled oysters, smoke fried oysters, shrimp juju, and the blackened fish. Everything tasted great especially the chargrilled oysters - fantastic! If your party size is big, recommend making reservations.
Was in NO Labor Day weekend. 7pm SAT. Unable to get reservations for the usual places and French quarter was unbelievably crowded. Walked into this place, great service , great specialty drinks, great food. I’m always looking for gulf coast fish - no talapia pleas.. had the redfish on half shell. It was fantastic, sides were great. Got lucky on this one, (was kinda shocked how good it was), thanks, I’ll be back
This comfort meal was excellent start to finish. Everything was fresh and delicious! We aren't local, but if I ever have the pleasure of being back in New Orleans, I will be a return customer.
Food was fabulous! We had Tiff as our waitress, recommend her 1000 stars! We had a late dinner outside, seeking a little quiet from Bourbon street the night before :).
Friendly service and fun atmosphere. Five of us tried a dozen of the chargrilled oysters and agreed we could have had a plate each to ourselves, they were that good. The shrimp caminada po boy was a twist on the classic New Orleans sandwich. The French bread they used was perfectly light and crispy. Friends enjoyed their dishes as well.
I came by here with a small group of friends and family. We were greeted by a hostess at the front of the restaurant and taken to a table. We would eventually get a booth as a result of the table size. We ordered two crab dips for our table. Both of them arrived hot, looked nice, and tasted pretty good too. This was a hit with the group. We ordered bowls of seafood gumbo with rice. The bowls were served with a half crab on top of the meal. The ladies didn't eat or like crab served this way. Two in our group did not eat oysters contained in the gumbo and thought it was just okay. Two ordered fish and fries which was a direct hit with the group and popular. I ordered the fish sandwich and fries, which was a bit disappointing as the fish was VERY thin. I tasted more ingredients than I did fish. The service was pretty good and the server was knowledgeable which was a great help to our group. We did have to ask for a refill on our drinks. This whole restaurant food experience was pretty good, but not great.
We celebrated a birthday here recently and we could not have had a better experience. Faija (I am so sorry if I misspelled your name) was our waitress, she was high energy, attentive and just an all around pleasure.
We highly recommend the crawfish beignets and blackened gulf fish.
We can't wait to come back!
Also I adore the fact that a 20% gratuity is included in your check. I think this makes waitstaff happier, improves the over all experience, and is just easier.
Didn't have any food so no rating for that. We went to watch the KU football game and there was a line to get in to Mannings so we walked in to Grand Isle. They kindly let us turn on the game on 1 of the tvs. We sat and have many drinks while it was on. The drink menu had a good variety.
The other couple that hung with us had food. It did look good.
This place has great oysters and calamari. The creole sauce is incredibly good. Dragos oysters are good, but this place has much better flavor and the oysters are bigger. I got the catfish and greens and everything tasted awesome! The catfish was the best I've tasted, the greens were the best I've had and the potatoes salad was awesome. Portions were good and service was great. The restaurant is cozy, but their bathrooms aren't that great. Overall great experience. This is the best restaurant by the Marriot that I've eaten at.
best crawfish, shrimp, oysters I've had in 20 years, my wife had the smoked Bleu cheese burger, said it was the best burger she had ever had. staff was excellent as well
Great food. Oyster shucker Coby knows his oysters. When he shucks his oyster, he makes it easy to eat the oyster off the shell. Have to go and see what he does. We have been to Felix's and ACME eating raw oysters and he is the first that takes that extra step for his customers. He is a great shucker.
The pompano was amazing, and so was the rice that accompanied it. The drink I had was called The awakening it was a very balanced drink, not too sweet and not to bitter or tart. The white chocolate bread pudding also amazing.
Wonderful food here. Wait staff was very attentive. Food came out quick. Charbroiled oysters and crawfish beignets were excellent.
Had a great time here! Our group was very grateful they were open during the tropical storm and they have an extremely friendly staff. I had the alligator po boy - I enjoyed it. It was spicy and the restaurant was spacious. Stop by if you're looking to have lunch with a group of friends. Thank you!
Food came out fast. Everything was hot and cooked just right. Never had to ask for a refill. A little disappointed that they force 20% for gratuity automatically on the ticket. I would have given more.
Our server Isaiah was amazing and very attentive despite having a part and other tables all at once! We ordered the Char Grilled oysters (TWICE because of how delicious they were), the Crawfish Alfredo, and the oven roasted chicken! All were very delicious and I would travel all the way back to New Orleans just to dine here again! What I assume to be the manager was also very attentive! Asking how we were doing and interacting with us! 10/10 experience!!! Greatly recommend!
We were in NOLA for 3 days and ate here on our last night. It was the best meal we had while here and we were didappointed we hadn't tried it earlier. I had the smoked tuna and my wife had the redfish with crab neat on top. Both were fantastic! If you like fresh fish, you can't go wrong. I just wish we had more time to try their oysters and their Po Boys. Oh well, I guess we'll have to come back to New Orleans again!.
The food was good, but the service that we received from Tracy at the bar was excellent. His humor and attitude definitely made our lunch an enjoyable one. We'll definitely be back.
This place was recommended to me by a stranger in the elevator at our hotel during a visit for a business event at the Convention Center. This restaurant is a hidden gem, no joke. I could have eaten there every day with how many delicious options there were. I had the blue cheese wedge salad, bacon cheese grits and shrimp creole... this is a must stop if you are in the area or planning a trip! The location is also prime, between the convention center and FQ.
I had an amazing time here two nights in a row! My wife is a lover of seafood, and I really wanted to impress her. Not easy as she is a caterer and grew up in the restaurant business.
We arrived during happy hour and there were some great deals on appetizers. Definitely try to arrive at the start of happy hour.
We ordered the baked red snapper for two both evenings. This is a dish that may not be available depending on supply. I have had my share of fresh red snapper when I worked in the oilfield, and this was fresh and cooked to perfection.
The restaurant is an easy walk from the convention Center or Harrahs casino. Its located on a nice brick lined street.
Love this place!! There were other places that were too busy to serve us but though they were busy here they had enough staff to accommodate and they got us sat outside quickly and the food was wonderful. We even had a manager come by who was stepping in to bus tables nearby.
Kelly was our waitress so sweet!
Here is what we got:
Soggy dollar drink - tasted like a chocolatey pina colada
Namaste
A dozen oysters on the half shell
Baked oysters grand isle - some were small, some were large, but ALL fantastic
LOVED IT ALL
If it's nice sit outside. Great view of the bustling intersection. This is a must visit place for tourists too.
The food was good. First time in New Orleans and Grand Isle was the first restaurant I went to and I loved their food. Mark was our server and he is very good.
One of the best seafood restaurants in New Orleans. Located in a nice street of Fulton which has a rows of restaurants and cafe. Accessible by walking distance from Harrah’s Casino and Hotel, LeMerien, Lows, Double Tree, and other surrounding hotels nearby
This was the first restaurant my wife and I stopped at as we arrived to NOLA! It was evening, fantastic romantic setting as we walked down Fulton Street. We peaked in and saw a nice rustic ambiance of hardwood floors with an elegant stone top counter oyster bar... we had to go in and check this place out!
Sure enough we were not disappointed. Little did we know, Grande Isle is an authentic quality restaurant in New Orleans! The menu surely encompasses the flavors of New Orleans! We came out here to try out to New Orleans to experience NOLA's culture and most importantly the culinary cuisine That exists here. Having said that, this establishment not only provides the wide spectrum of flavors that New Orleans has to offer but they master the dishes! For starters we had raw oysters of course; my wife enjoyed the experience of diving into turtle soup! If you've never tried authentic Cajun/creole and your your not sure what to try out, the wait staff here is on point when it comes to service. Truly a delight to work with! If we find ourselves walking down Fulton, we definitely will hit the Grand Isle again!
Amazing food. Prices were comparable for quality. $$ - $$$. Crabcakes and shrimp hourdorves were top notch.
I had catfish, greens and I believe it was a rosemary rice. The blend of flavours was magic. I highly recommend this place. Staff was helpful and friendly
Best CRAWFISH BEIGNETS ever!
Service was amazing, the servers genuinely want to know where you came from and chat about life. Very different from us in Nj!
The chargrilled oysters were phenomenal too, came out bubbling hot!
We ate here on Father’s Day and the first impression almost ruined the experience if not for the stellar food and our wonderful waiter Aaron. Restaurant “opens” at 11 but they didn’t unlock doors until 11:10. Whomever unlocked the door simply unlocked the doors from the inside but didn’t open the door or greet the 10+ people waiting outside.
Let’s get to the delicious food. EVERY single dish we tried was a HIT!!! We obliged to suggestions from our waiter. Appetizers included gumbo, boudin balls, char grilled oysters, raw and fried oysters . Entree: shrimp and grits with side Mac and cheese, blackened fish on top of a lightly fried potato. Goodness gracious. We were so stuffed yet still made sure to try desert. Pecan pie and white chocolate bread pudding. Apparently this place is a hidden gem because no native knew what I was talking about when I mentioned the name. TRUST that this won’t last for long because I’m sharing Grand Isle with EVERYONE!! We will surely be back!! The 20% gratuity is automatically added to your bill but my service was so good that I had to individually tip our waiter. I imagine that the all share that 20%.
Food is delicious and large portion compared to restaurant in the French Quarter - never seen such large clam. I gave a four star because it took 15 – 20 minutes for anyone to acknowledge you’re sitting, and it took more than half an hour to get your food. No matter how good or poor the service, you are automatically charged 20% tip included in your bill. I guess that’s why the server doesn’t care about the customer much; although, our waiter was very friendly.
The first week of June our family met in New Orleans for my Uncle’s birthday. On Saturday morning we decided to have an impromptu dinner party on that night for my Uncle. My uncle spoke to the mgr, asking if they could accommodate a party of 12 comprised of children & adults after being told my another restaurant nearby they couldn’t. The mgr said yes, no problem. We met at the restaurant at the time we reserved, we were seated promptly, provided excellent service, all served drinks from the bar, delicious appetizers, entrees & desserts. We had brought a birthday cake into the restaurant before our reservation time to surprise my Uncle. The waitstaff kindly brought the cake out at the appropriate time & my Uncle was overjoyed! I can’t say how much we enjoyed our visit. I’ve eaten there two other times & they’ve never disappointed! I highly recommend Grand Isle Seafood Restaurant.
Charbroiled oysters were outstanding. All of the food was wonderful. Like many places, they were understaffed and service was slow but pleasant.
Little bit of a wait or a long bit rather , but the food was superior to any other low level cuisine I've ever had. Ps: staff are super nice pps: hot crab dip is amazing
Unexpectedly fantastic! Was a bit apprehensive after a visit to the other Harrah's partner restaurant across the street earlier in the trip, but this place is better than it needs to be. Oysters big, fresh and delicious. Apps and desserts great as well. Drinks were better than average. Vito behind the bar shucking oysters was the highlight of the visit. Super friendly spot. Not cheap, but not outrageously priced either. Will definitely return in the future.
Had fairly good shrimp, sausage, and grits here. The shrimp was cooked perfectly the grits were cheesy and there was the right amount of spice to it. The second best part is you could walk right in and get a seat which is great for a friday night.
Overall a good restaurant for a low-key night.
Really Good
Had some oysters fried shrimp and crawfish bites
Highly recommend!
I would definitely come back here. Creole crawfish pasta was very good. I recommend this dish.
In town for a conference, when I ran across this gem! The food was absolutely delicious...but the real star was the waiter, "A.J". He truly enhanced my experience and Grand Isle is lucky to have him!! If you are in the area, do yourself a favor by dining in and asking for A.J.!!!
I loved the oysters and the bloody Mary’s were amazing!!! Our waiter was so helpful and recommended the crawfish beignet which were pretty good! We would for sure come back because I saw a few other things on the menu I want to try!
Happy hour 4-6, is great. .75 oysters n $5 cocktails. Server was fun with lots of local history knowledge.
Gulf Shrimp, Smoked Sausage, Potatoes, Corn & Mushrooms were delicious, but I think it's shady when restaurants automatically add a tip but don't disclose it on the receipt. The receipt they bring just had the total cost with a line to add a tip and signature. I noticed that the suggested tip amounts were way too low, so I looked at the itemized slip receipt buried inside the folder and found that they'd already included the tip there. I've seen this with large parties and high end restaurants, but never for a party of 2 at a casual restaurant.
Dined at Grande Isle on 9/18/22 and had the best experience. The server Aaron aka AJ provided a dining experience that was no less than amazing. From draping napkins on our laps, to discussing the menu options, to his attentiveness to our table during a busy afternoon. AJ made visiting this establishment worth it.
Absolutely the best!!! Service, food outstanding!
Great experience! Our server Mark was the best! The redfish over the pecan rice was amazing. The Creole Crawfish pasta was delicious. The Bleu Cheese Burger was juicy and flavorful. The shrimp and grits was a spicy wonder with the grits packing the heat. Would definitely recommend and will be back.
Oh my, this place is so good, I mean so great! The chargrilled oysters may be the best I have EVER had. I’d like to consider myself a chargrilled oysters connoisseur having had them all over, I can’t remember any better. The crawfish beignets are so delicious, seriously-get them. Devante and the rest of the staff, including the owner (didn’t get his name but he was awesome) really took care of our large party; such a great time and awesome restaurant. Go here, have a great time and great food, I’ll be back-awesome!
Loved the blackened gulf fish with crawfish sauce and the side of jalapeño corn grits. Mark provided excellent food service.
We were looking for a place to have a good diner and there weren't many ppl inside so we weren't sure at first. Wow! this was a good surprise. Waitresse was super nice and funny, beer she recommanded was really good, tuna tartare amazing and so was the shrimp poboy. I tryed it because they won a price for their poboy and it really was good. Definetely recommand the place!
The food was superb. Our server was a delight. The cocktails were perfectly prepared and the atmosphere very comfortable. I was part of a large group and every dish I tasted was exceptional.
This restaurant is kinda off the beaten path. It's not on Bourbon Street. Actually in the area near Harrahs and the hotels. We stopped in because it looked less chaotic and the menu looked good. Food was amazing and the people working there were really nice. We got a table where we could watch the NBA playoff game and they didn't rush us to leave. Honestly, the best meal I've had since I got here. Everything tasted fresh and was cooked well. Definitely going to recommend it to all my friends. Best meal we ate in New Orleans.
Great experience with the server and the chef. The food is outstanding as it is in most of New Orleans. Hospitality was outstanding though and that really made this place standout. The location is right next to the Riverwalk and the price is well worth the food. It's really priced fair.
Beth and Jolanda were both awesome and probided great service. The crawfish beignets and Saint Sangria were AWESOME as was the service. Awesome place to visit!
Great service, omg loved my waiter, the food was great. Love the shrimp boil, crawfish beignets, and namaste. Had a hurricane too. Loved eveeything
The experience here was quite unique. We had a waiter named Johnny, who was so attentive and very professional. He took care of us as if we were royalty. I am not famous but the waiter made me and my family feel as though we were. The food was good but the effort and attention that this waiter put in made the visit stellar.
As a native I dont often go to tourist spots to eat, but I am glad i stopped here for a mid afternoon shrimp poboy. I was nothing short of supurb! Great fresh french bread (you can only get this in New Orleans) and the best perfectly cooked Gulf Shrimp! Even the pickle was great. This is a fresh clean airy restaurant with plenty of tables but plenty of space. TVs on the wall of you want to watch a game. Attractive oyster bar. Obviously draft beer. In the warehouse district. Best found by walking. Definitely worth a stop and a step up in the neighborhood.
Right on Fulton Alley near Harrah's hotel. Specials on oysters, raw or charbroil. Good food. Has bar. Indoor or patio seating.
Our service was great and the Bloody Mary's better the food below was all very good!
Service was good. The shrimp Po Boy Amazing (the best so far in NOLA). The Tuna tartar great. Catfish creole good.
Beth and Jolanda were amazing! I have never visited a restaurant twice in one day within hours of each other but service and food were amazing!
The oysters were fresh and so delicious! Entrees & drinks the same. Highly recommend!
The service was great. The food was about 4.5 stars, but that's not an option. When I'm back around New Orleans, I'll definitely eat here again.
Excellent food. The best food we've had since we've been in New Orleans. I had the trout with crawfish sauce and my buddy had the mahi with etouffee. Delicious!
Honestly, while the staff were lovely, the food was just… decent. Not bad, but not great. The ribs were good, according to my husband, but no one else was impressed. Also quite expensive, given the medium quality.
I have been to Grand Isle many times and it is consistently good. Good food, good service and good value.
Had an amazing lunch al fresco - the food was phenomenal. Steak kabobs with the dirty rice made my mouth water but the shrimp camandita po boy was out of this world. There literally is nothing like it! Go here if you have a chance. Owner is awesome!
We stumbled across Grand Isle while wandering around. I was craving a glass of wine and this was the perfect spot. Great wine selection. A little pricey, but nothing over the top and about what you'd expect to pay at such a nice place. We come over from Pensacola several times a year and usually try new places each time. However, we will definitely be returning to Grand Isle on our next trip. Staff was nice and fun to be around and the restaurant itself was beautiful.
In town to eat as much of the city as possible. This place was right near our hotel and had rave reviews about the happy hour offer of dollar oysters and a half pound bag of shrimp boil for$8. It was even on the website
Alas those deals are gone!
I was pretty bummed about that but the wonderful staff made up for it. The hostess and waitress were great and we ended up staying for drinks and crawfish beignets. The house wine and regular beer selection were pretty tasty and the beignets were AMAZING!
One star off just for not having that happy hour deal everyone was raving about
Excellent food probably some of the best we have had in the last three days. We ordered the crawfish beignets, a burger, and crawfish. All were fantastic!
After a few poor meals in NO it was a real pleasure to find this place. The food was flavorful and the presentation fantastic. Our server was first rate, very friendly, and knowledgeable! For the Price you will not go wrong ... try Crawfish Beignets!!!
Go here, right now! And get the crayfish begnietes! Utterly stupefying how good these are. Don't order anything else until you get these because you will probably just order another two baskets and die happy after finishing them.
The drinks are excellent. For mains i highly recommend the sticky ribs and the mac and cheese is another winner, plus some old bayou favorites like shrimp and grits. For Dessert hit the lemon icebox cake or the red velvet cheesecake.
Coupled with fast friendly service this place is an absolute Gem. As an added bonus they fit us in when no other restaurant would! Their staff definitely got this place the 5th star.
Chargrilled oysters were good.
Last minute pop in before leaving the city
I came here for dinner after attending the conference nearby. My waitress was really nice and recommended a really good beer to go along with the raw oysters. I will definitely come back here again next time in New Orleans
We took one of the corner large seats. It was very comfortable. The food was great especially the oyster. However, we were not lucky and the lady that took the orders was new. She made several mistakes, luckily our friends were easygoing and ate everything they brought. The only reason that I did not give five star is that they made several mistakes.
Perfect gumbo everytime! Yes, I go often and YES I'll be back. Great food with impeccable service!
#achefsadventure #chefdeanna
We really enjoyed our visit. Service and food were both great! Everything was delicious!
First time in New Orleans and found this restaurant after going to the casino. The staff there were very helpful and friendly. Our server Elonda was great. She went over the menu, explained the different items and gave us some recommendations. Had the crawfish beignets were good, never had crawfish before. Would recommend this to anyone, will not disappoint.
Nice spot on Fulton St. Great service and food. I love seafood and the grilled oysters are yummie.
Really tasty food and friendly service. Callie (sorry if I’m spelling their name incorrectly) was so kind and really made our experience lovely. We had the raw oysters, chargrilled oysters and the grilled caesar salad. They were all delicious. My boyfriend’s mom had the Grilled Caesar with grilled shrimp and she loved it! The chargrilled oysters still had the texture of a raw oyster (kind of) with the chargrilled aspect, which I also liked!! The restaurant is also really big which was nice because they could seat us almost immediately. I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice spot for dinner that’s walking distance from french what we area
Pretty good food, excellent service and nice atmosphere. Make sure to make reservations on busy nights.
Great lunch special for HOT & BIG crawfish by the pound, perfect NOLA style. The staff are really friendly and attentive.
The blackened Gulf fish with crawfish sauce was amazing.
Dinner tonight was terrific. I ordered fish stew. My husband had the shrimp and grits. Both dishes were delicious. Talesha was an excellent server. She was professional and friendly nice evening out.
Good food great Atmosphere the service not so much they need to work on it better
Outstanding. I had the Camanida poboy and grilled oysters. Unbelievably good.
Best food in new Orleans, very clean, Professional staff, can't wait to come back!!!!!!
I visited New Orleans with my extended family after the first wave of the pandemic (before Delta variant). This restaurant was near our hotel and the food was so delicious that we dined here twice! The staff was friendly, prompt, and accommodating. We were proud to support the food service industry after all they’d been through. I recommend Grand Isle Restaurant if you are looking for clean, fresh seafood with a home-cooked feel.
Great location for Creole and seafood. Conveniently located right across the street from the convention center with ample space to host large groups. Great place to enjoy the taste of New Orleans. Wide selection of beer, wine, and cocktails
My first visit was phenomenal. Great food, friendly service. I was impressed with their oyster happy hour special. Most recently I brought my son and husband to Grand isle specifically for the oysters, but left disappointed with the service. The hostess skipped over my family and sat the next group instead. It was most likely a mistake but I feel like there are plenty of great restaurants in the area so that was enough to make me take my business elsewhere.
Great food and service. Had the mussels and red fish and both were awesome.
We're ended up coming back again during our stay because we enjoyed it so much!
I will probably remember this place for a good while. First time I ever tried oysters. I was not let down whatsoever. If you are looking for an authentic cajun restaurant with spectacular service and great food (and saltines!!!) Look no further. Grand Isle restaurant will do more than just satisfy your hungering.
THIS PLACE Y'ALL!!! If you eat here be prepared to be disappointed at any other place you eat in New Orleans after it. My husband and I drove 8 hours to New Orleans, and the food we ate here made the drive completely worth it. In all seriousness, if I could leave more stars for this place I would. I am southern born and bred and still have NEVER had a meal this delicious. The staff is absolutely wonderful, attentive, kind, helpful, just first class. In both of our entire lives this is the best restaurant we have ever been to.
Went to eat there yesterday with a out of town friend. I had blackened gulfish and my friend had whole pompano. The food was great as was the service. The place is clean, quiet and safe in spite of the the noisy parade close by. My friend was very complementary of the place . Very good publicity for the city of New Orleans.
Very attentive and friendly service, happy hour 4-6pm, oyster bar and po boys👌🏼 …
I had the best redfish in this restaurant. It was accompanied by a brown rice with pecans and bacon that it was just delicious!!!
The server was attentive and gave me great suggestions.
I totally recommend this experience !
Loved this place!! Fantastic seafood and service, and we especially loved the shrimp ju-ju!! Great cocktails too!
The crawfish pasta is amazing as well as the smoked tuna. We will definitely be coming back to visit our next time into town
Nice place for seafood. Good environment, friendly staff. Boiled crawfish and crawfish vignettes are very good.
We stopped in to watch the game and have a quick bite. I have passed Grand Isle Seafood many times but have never eaten here. It WAS AMAZING! The fried Oysters were the best we have ever had. The service was phenomenal and food was served quickly! This will be one of our new favorite family spots!
I am from Colorado and actually went 3 times to this restaurant. Incredibly warm people who served and the Char Broiled Oysters were so awesome and the shrimp boil was outstanding
Each time tried a few minor things but their chef is so good
Great Food! We didn’t have a reservation but they got in and we had great gumbo, chargrilled oysters and fish. Best overall meal we had while in NOLA.
It was a recommend from a friend and I really like it. They have a nice menu something pretty much for everyone. The ambience was good we sat outside. And if you have a fur baby they are welcomed out on the patio. I would highly recommend.
Seasonal $1 chargrilled oysters special & they validate parking for harrahs. Love it!
I am absolutley impressed with this restaurant. They are so many excellent people that work here especially Karis shout out to you girl. I can't wait to come back. The oysters was so so good. I was licking the shell. Charbroiled oysters with parmesan cheese and garlic butter was the best I have ever tasted. A MUST HAVE WITH A WATERMELON TEA AND/OR MINT LEMONADE! THE BEST EVER!
I love the happy hour specials for the crab boil service can be lacking though
Today was the first time every going to the Grand Isle restaurant in New Orleans. The food was amazing and the service was absolutely wonderful. The waitress that my aunts and I had was the best waitress I've ever had when going to a restaurant. She was patient, respectful, kind, and amazing. Overall, the restaurant was beautiful and I cannot wait to go there again just fantastic.
All of the staff were super! My server/bartender Faisa, was so much fun and her drinks were stellar!! The hurricane was the absolute best I've had! The boil was spot on, the spice level was accurate based on the menu description. The dessert was gifted to me by one of the cooks and it was delightful!! Not too lemony, and theberry sauce was just right. Definitely will be back!
We were on our way to another restaurant when we decided to try Grand Isle. Happy we did. Our server was AMAZING. Since we were not sure what to have, she gave us wonderful suggestions as we were not to hungry. My husband had the JuJu shrimp and it was a very large portion. I had the grilled Caesar Salad, so flavorful. Her suggestions of wine and specialty drinks were also great. The way she went to each table and made each one feel special was a delight to see. We chatted a great deal, but not sure if I got her name correct (sorry) Carrie/Callie. Thank you for being so attentive.
Really good char-grilled oysters and shrimp po-boy!
Me and my wife stumbled up on this spot we had been there before, but didn't really remember our experience. However, this experience is more memorable. As we entered there we all kind of signs about covid 19 and everything else. So we sit down, the service was ok nothing to brag about. So I ordered the drum with crawfish topping, which was good. My wife got the gulf shrimp boil which was excellent. Everything was good until we get the check. We discover a 20% gratuity already add to our check. I'm sorry, but I think i should decide if the service is worth a 20% tip or not, Not the owner who is trying to get me to pay his employees, while he pays them whatever.
Came here with some coworkers and it was great. There's a lot of outdoor seating. I had the Grand Isle burger and their saint sangria along with some crawfish beignets and everything was excellent. I wish the sangria was sweeter but it was nice and strong.
The food was great but the 4 people two checks was just too much for our waiter
Pretty good place! Kind of laid back and not overly crowded. Crawfish was only $8 a pound when I visited! Will be returning to try out other items on the menu.
Update:
I returned and again I was pleased with the food! The service at the bar is well and its location is close to the hotel. It's a more laid back place compared to Bourbon Street (Not Complaining at all). I'll be returning here next time I come back in town!
The cocktails, to the service and food were So good. The smoked oysters were devine. Cocktails on point. Clean fast and superior service. Will tell all of my friends to come here.
My new favorite restaurant in Louisiana! Food was exceptional. Service from hostess and waitress was phenomenal. Even my kids were saying it was the best food they've ever had. EVERYTHING was delicious!!!!
Chagrilled Oysters, shrimp juju, grand isle burger, fisherman's stew, gumbo, soft shell crab- all great. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Stew was missing Oysters but still great entree. Waited in line for other places only to be seated here within 15 minute wait due to party size. Would recommend items we ordered.
Love this place. Fun and relaxing away from all the craziness. Great good!
The food was DELICIOUS & the service was awesome!!
The service was sloppy. We were constantly without silverware (people take it away but nobody brings you a new fork until you complain). People bright is the same drinks twice, etc. It was off.
But the crawfish Beignets were so amazing that it made up for all of that. And the Cesar salad set a new bar for me. Amazing!
Have a Kate Chopin The Awakening Martini as an aperitif; smells, looks, and tastes great. Grilled Ceasars /w fried oysters was excellent, but I'm not picky.
Excellent place to eat seafood, very good quality of the products and the service is very good.
My husband and I reserved a table here for Mothers Day. We had the best server, Aidan! We picked out what we wanted ahead of time but when we asked Aiden about the best picks from the menu, he confirmed our decision. The food was excellent. Crawfish beignets, crab dip, blacken gulf fish, and Caesar salad... ALL AMAZING! Aidan was spectacular and we will be back again soon!
Our server was not very timely and seem to leave us waiting for things longer than we'd like. The hostess/manger came by a few times to check on us because it I think she saw us sitting there with nother for longer than normal times. When the food did come out it was all good I had the blackened gulf fish and it was all very delicious. My sister had the 2 cluster crab boil and was not impressed
We came in for some oysters and a drink before our lunch reservations and this spot was a pleasant surprise. It was fairly quiet, and the staff were very friendly. I loved the modest literary theme they incorporated, too. The oysters were great and my drink (the Awakening) was delicious. I even got a free t-shirt out of the trip! Overall, very pleased with my first visit and will be back the next time I'm in town.
The shrimp boil was so yummy and an amazing deal at happy hour! $7 for a half pound that came with multiple very large shrimp. I was stuffed full. Christian is a great bartender. All of the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Parking in the casino parking garage was validated which was a nice bonus as well. Less money spent on parking means I have more money for wine!
Christian, I’ve been brain storming. How about calling your new drink (Old Fashioned) Yuletide Tea!
Thank you Grand Isle for an awesome meal and evening!
Service was outstanding. We were comped 2 drinks for an [honestly] reasonable wait, but we weren't going to order drinks, so it gave us a chance to try two specials- they were great. We eat redfish just about every place we go, but this was this best we've ever had! The fish seasoning was amazing, cooked perfectly, and the sides were fantastic (pecan rice and sauteed spinach). We really enjoyed the chargrilled oysters, hot boiled shrimp, calamari, and kids catfish, too!
The food was phenomenal! The charbroiled oysters were simply delicious!! 👌 The best I have EVER had!! The service... not so much. More like a bad McDonalds experience. But hey, maybe they were having an off night 🤷♀️ I'd still come back for those charbroiled oysters!! 💯 …
Great food. I had the smoke fried oysters, pecan rice and bread pudding. All were good.
Lemonade has alcohol or had fermented. Lemonade, coffee and tea should be tasted throughout the day.
Went in late Sunday night and had appetizers and salad to make a light meal. Crab claws with a Spicy pesto was delightful. Peel and shrimp where huge and the sauces were divine! The grilled Caesar was sooo good!! Service was excellent and friendly. Would go back in a heartbeat!
This place is awesome!!! We just got off a seven day cruise and this was by far the best food and service we have gotten all week. The drinks were great, the ribs were awesome, but the best part was the service by Johnny! He gave great suggestions and even gave us a quick rundown of where to go from here. If you are visiting NO this is a must stop!
Great food, great service, good prices.
Fresh seafood and great poboys. The game was on so not a bad spot.
Very close to Harrah’s Casino and participates in the rewards program (2 to 1) The food was amazing and the service was even better. We had the opportunity to meet the owner, who was very nice and attentive to all the patrons! Definitely recommend! Try the mac and cheese it is incredible!
Food took forever. 20% gratuity added to all checks. The food was okay not great. Won't go back.
Fantastic food and great atmosphere. Tru was our server and she was great. The had some staff walk out that day which put an extra strain on the rest of the staff. Tru had a wonderful upbeat attitude even while being run ragged. Thanks for a great experience Tru.
Location is nice so so food and little pricey.
Stopped in on a whim on a rainy night after a full day at the convention center. This was a great decision! The smoked/fried oysters set the tone. You must try these if you stop in. We were looking for a little New Orleans flare and were not disappointed. The seafood was perfectly grilled and served on fresh flavorful side dishes. The bourbon pecan pie topped it off. It was the very best pie I have tasted. Service was top notch as well.
This is my spot, one of the best places to eat downtown...
Really, really great food. Pics rarely exist for a good reason. Yummo!
Everything we ordered was amazing! We came for the happy hour special which included 2 for 1 drinks, 75 cent oysters in the half shell and $7 peel and eat shrimp for a half pound. Additionally we ordered the Juju Shrimp, Calamari and Mac and Cheese. Absolutely nothing disappointed us! Would definitely recommend this place!!
I always have a decent time here. It isn't my favorite and it is not bad at all. The atmosphere is always as if someone put together something they wanted to be high end and then ran it slip shod and confusing.
The personalities are always good. The oysters are always wonderful and the staff legitimately cares and wants to do a good job, There is some kind of hidden obstacle here i can't define.
Great selection of fish dishes, and daily specials. The house cocktail is also 👍🏽👍🏽. …
Aaron is an incredible waiter. Service was A1. Very helpful with recommendations and was able to take care of all 12 people in our party no problem.
Our waiter was nice, and we came during a slow time so everyone that walked past greeted us and checked on us. Our sides (Mac and cheese and jambalaya) were really good, but our main course (both burgers cooked a little different) were meh. Later found much better burgers in town. Maybe some of there other stuff would be better but nothing they had to offer at the time was something we wanted.
Service and food were so excellent. We did the 'hook and cook' option, which allows you to bring in the fish you catch and they cook if for you that day. Such excellent cooking. The manager Will was so great and made sure my sister's bachelorette dinner (with the fish and crab we caught) was awesome.
Being a native of the New Orleans area and then moving away, i was looking forward to a good meal. The food I had tonight at Grand Isle was first class, just like I remember! The oyster poboy was amazing, oysters were fried perfectly tasted great and the bread was fresh. We will go back tomorrow!
Food was really good but the service was so astonishingly bad that they lose two stars. It made sense when I saw that they auto added 20% gratuity to the bill for a party of 3. The server tried but she had absolutely no clue. Probably more of a training/management problem.
Nice $1 charbroiled oysters taste Great
Food amazing just cost lil more great experience
Aaron was our server and he did an amazing job. The best server I e had in a long time. It felt like I was at a 3 diamond restaurant. Plus he said it was only his second day on the floor!!
Awesome place to eat seafood. I was told it’s one of the best in the city. Was not disappointed at all. Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Awesome location. Just right outside the Harrahs casino right in downtown New Orleans. Definitely will be back.
This places is a must for great baked and raw oysters. They have a daily special menu in addition to their regular menu. Happy Hour is 4-6 which includes $.75 raw oysters half price drinks and many more appetizers. Our waitress Katrina is the best and will always request for her next time.
Good wine selection.
Absolutely the best Seafood Platter.
Friendly service in an enjoyable atmosphere.
Any chance we could lose the plastic straws in the water glasses? Not required and just add to plastic waste pollution.
Our waiter was very attentive but even she couldn't help us when my $25 appetizer was inedible! The shrimp were uncooked so that I couldn't get the shells off. Definitely better places to eat good food in the city.
This was our second time here. The last time five years ago. Don't remember much about it. But this time the food was great and the service was excellent. Thank you Mark. We had the boiled shrimp appetizer and the Fisherman's plater. We can't wait to get back here again. Try it, you will not be disappointed.
Everything was amazing. I don't do oysters but my gf got the smoked fried and I even enjoyed them.
Oysters seemed smaller than other restaurants around town that I tried during my weekend trip. Service was just ok. We were a group of 6 and few plates would come out for other to wait about 8 min for others food to come out. When we were ready to leave it took 20 min to get check(s) and then it took another 20 min to process them with waitress taking one or two only at a time with continuously walking off in a distracted mode.
My husband and I were in town for Essence Fest, the restaurant was right around the corner from our hotel Cambria so it's very convenient. The food is VEry good and fresh service was also great. We shared a red fish dish (first time) and shared sides (spinach and mac & cheese yum). When we sat down we noticed celebrities at the bar eating and drinking like regular folks. I was in awe, but we didn't bother them.
Chagrined oysters were mushy and flavorless. Out of my 1st 2 choices of beer (Medela, dos equis)and burned my burger. Service was slow, and we had to eat around our dirty appetizer dishes
We had a great time to watch the game and Collin our server was excellent!
This is my favorite NOLA meal so far. Awesome!
Kind of spicy but not too much. Very flavorful. I love shrimp but this would be awesome without the shrimp. The sausage, grits and gravy were awesome
The best drinks ever. The Grand Isle lime rickey is just delicious. Potent , tangy and thirst quenching. Food was good, but on the spicy side. Service was impeccable, Everyone was so cordial, and helpful. Just a great experience and wonderful memory of my trip to NOLA.
Faija is an amazing waitress. She was the perfect person for this job and she was so attentive to us even with 4+ other tables. The food itself was also amazing but service makes it that much better!! Thank you Faija, we will be back and will personally request YOUUUUUU!
The food was more than exceptional. Our server Mark was knowledgeable, friendly, and enterntaining. The manager/owner was great and came and check on us. The let me try a free oyster my water was NEVER empty. And we got hot towels at the end!!!
The food is for sure five star. My crawfish Alfredo was one of the creamiest pastas I've ever had and the ir smoked fried oysters are some of the best in the city. Our server, however, was another story. Here is some advice: never roll your eyes at a customer, never be condescending to a customer's face, and never talk back to a customer. It is unfortunate that a restaurant with such spectacular food would employ someone so unfitting for this establishment.
First time having chargrilled oysters and these did not disappoint! Simple divine! The crawfish beignets were amazing as well. Everything we ordered was delicious. Oh and if you like collard greens try the greens. Very different and delicious. A must stop if you are in the Big Easy!
Craw pasta is an excellent blend of spice and general flavor. Their char grilled oysters are the absolute best I've had throughout the city and anyone who doesn't like oysters needs to try them here to change your mind. Don't even get me started on the shrimp juju it's to die for
Absolutely phenomenal. Each dish that was brought out was better than the last! The blackened fish is a must try. It will change your life!
Lisa was my waitress, she was friendly, prompt and knew the menu. We ordered what she suggested. The special smoked fried oysters and the trout. It was out of this world good and we will be back again. My boyfriend has never been to NOLA, he enjoyed it.
Enjoyed my food and waiter. Everything came out fairly quickly. I had the Isle sampler just because I couldn't decide which oysters I wanted, small plate of shrimp and grits. I had a crab cake that was deep fried that I was not to fond of. All in great place to eat and enjoy the atmosphere.
Incredible! I walked in not knowing what to expect. I only went cuz it has a good rating from Google, the greater was very friendly, and joked with me that I was eating alone. My bar tender Chris recommend the best fish dinners I have ever eaten. The blonde ale paired perfectly with it. 5 stars, if I come back to new Orleans I'll come back to Grand Isle!
Yes, maybe not geared to locals, but if you want very good food, great cocktails, and a well poured beer that is not thrown at you, by a bartender who you'd like to sit down and drink with than this place is for you. Not overly expensive. Good vibe. Solid choice for a clean, satisfying experience. Avoid oyster challenge gag. -lunch/late lunch is best.
What a wonderful surprise! We originally went to Mannings, only yo be ignored by the bar servers and surly attitudes. Went across the street to Grand Isle where we were welcomed and told that we had 15 minutes left before happy hour ended. OMG! Fabulous shrimp boil, fresh shucked oysters and delicious champagne. Mark, our server, could not have been more professional and friendly. Going back tomorrow for a repeat.
Delicious! Lisa was awesome and food was 🤯 …
Great place to start when visiting NOLA. The staff are super friendly, I thought the menu was a good starting place for someone who has never eaten creole style food.
The best oysters in New Orleans roam Grand Isle restaurant. It's very rare to find a great place like this. The service is amazing. The food is amazing. You won't find any place like this. The food is so fresh. I feel like I'm in seafood paradise biting into Grand Isle's food. What a spectacular place to eat.
I highly recommend it.
I'm a huge fan of their whole pampano fish!
We went here and the food was good so we decided to go back another day. We were standing outside waiting with 2 children, one was an infant. It was a downpour of rain and cold. We asked if we could wait inside the restaurant until they opened to keep the baby warm. They refused and made us wait outside. We ended up getting an uber and leaving. Very poor customer service. We won’t be back.
Ok... after my poor review, we spoke with the owner who was upset we were treated that way and appears to really be invested in his business and customers. We were just unfortunate to get one employee who apparently didn’t follow the company policy.
The customer service, after the fact, was great. Like I said before, the food was absolutely worth going back for.
The food was very good. I eat here every time I am in town. However, Seth was one of our bartenders and was very very rude. Seth acted like we were am inconvenience, not the type of customer service I am accustom to in the South. To add, Seth was one his cell and FYI my daughter works in a restaurant and just got suspended for 2 weeks for being on her phone when she should have been taking care of her customers, you should try it! 😉
Overall experience of was good service was great. Best Sazarac I've ever had. My problem was the price or my oyster poboy which was small and a 6 oysters on it for $20 with no sides is to expensive It was $16 sandwich at most especially since the onion rings while good we're $6.95. will be back for drinks but not food.
I come here everytime I'm in town. Mainly for those smoked oysters! This last time we sat in front of the oyster bar and had a fabulous time. The gentleman shucking the oysters took great care of us. He had us laughing the whole time and got us to try some new things. Im adding the green goddess dressing to reasons why I must come here! Delicious. Fantastic service.
Love this place. Ate there twice and can't stop thinking about this place now that I am back home. The oyster baskets, grilled oysters, seafood boils with the all the fixin, mac and cheese is to die for, shrimp pasta, and fish basket. Omg, yumminess! Amanda the manager has excellent customer service. We hope to be back next year.🙏 …
The shrimp taste so fresh they had to just caught it, lol great place.
The oysters were huge and delicious. We had them cooked and raw... both were very good. The service was good and the prices reasonable.
Overall great experience. Aaron was our waiter and he was amazing.. went above and beyond. The food was cooked perfectly. If you’re in the area, stop by!
I had the roasted chicken. The chicken was very flavorful and juicy. The veggies were tasty. Never heard of boudin cake (rice and porky patty), and it was bland.
Hubby had the ribs. Tasty but very messy. The Mac and cheese was very cheesy.
The lemon square pie was good.
Service was timely. The kitchen was timely. Prices are high.
Amazing team and more amazing food!!! We host a event here every year and the team knock it out of the park!! Great food - oysters or Po Boys are amazing, but everything is great!! Highly recommend and already looking forward to returning. Thanks Jeff and the team.
Amazing. Chargrilled oysters were just too good. Raw were also extremely tasty. This is a great spot and being a fat kid, that should carry weight! Get it? Fat kid. Weight!? I'll show myself out...
Damnnn food was good!!! Two different occasions and we were very happy with our food.. we had numerous different dishes juju shrimp stood out!! And the raw oysters were fantastic! I'd definitely recommend you visiting this little gem on your visit to new Orleans
Aaron was very kind and treated us great. Excellent seafood for a good price. Check this place out!
Best food in new Orleans, our bartender darnel is the best. He has been so hospitable, I have never felt so welcomed. The smoked fried oysters are amazing!!!
Excellent customer service... Great food selection... Super recommendations... No complaints at all from me! The crawfish beignets were amazing and the desserts were delicious! The watermelon isle tea was the perfect adult beverage...refreshing and delicious! I love this place!
Great food and service, beautiful crew! Ill definitely be back. I am a chef at the four seasons and i must say this food was perfection on a plate.
We were having dinner with old friends here. The service was great, as to the food, nothing really stand out for the wow factor. It was my first time eating alligator (wing), it does taste like chicken (LOL) but leaner.
The Happy Hours is a secret gem. The Oyster and the Boiled shrimp was so good and priced reasonable. We end up ordering 3 dozens oysters plus shrimps and drinks. On top of that, there is no line up!!!!!
Absolutely Fantastic. Seafood is so fresh, so tasty. I live on the Gulf of Mexico and I've not had anything this nice served in a restaurant.
Staff is friendly and its safe in these Covid times.
Thank you.
I was in New Orleans for a conference and went to this place in my last day. I wish u would have gone there sooner because it was SO DELICIOUS! I had the Crawfish Alfredo. It was bomb! My friend got the roasted chicken.... Also delicious.
The service and food was really good. I enjoy the atmosphere and music.
Good drinks and food! I had the crawfish and really enjoyed it.
Went here for lunch as a group of 5. Food was good, but the service was very, very slow. It took at least 45 mins to get our food after we ordered and we ordered sandwiches, soup and salads. I was also annoyed that 20% gratuity was automatically added to the check. There was no notice of this and I don't feel like it should have been done. The restaurant was not super busy, it was lunch service and there were only 5 of us. Maybe I should have said something, but my party was needing to leave quickly to get to an engagement.
Really great good, we loved the blackened redfish with crawfish cream sauce above all, but the entire meal was great and the service excellent.
Had the pleasure of dining outside at Grand Isle this past weekend. The boiled shrimp were massive and delicious. The smoked oysters were also excellent. A+ service as well.
Fantastic meal on St. Patrick's Day. Crawfish, oysters, and tuna tartare were all fantastic. Bianca our server way great.
We stayed at the Hilton but they never mentioned it... great experience
Fantastic. Very helpful, the only reason this is 3 stars is because they told me on the phone that they had pure Jasmine oil with 7.5% jojoba. When I got there it was the opposite but the same price ( which was high for a low level essential oil ) and it said pure on it like mimicking the pure stuff. I was being very specific.
On the flip side they had an amazing selection of minerals and jewelery with a fair price and we're helpful to me in finding a low cost assortment of specific mineral stones. This I did like. Their prices were more than fair in comparison to other places, Cheers. I
This is a nice place just off Convention Center Blvd. in the pedestrian area near the Harrah's Casino.
The specialty of the house is seafood - at least that's most of what's on the menu.
We started out with the onion rings. They were tasty with just a hint of spice that made it very unique. For the main course, we split the large fried seafood platter. Of that, the shrimp and the crab cake were the best parts. For dessert we had pecan pie with ice cream. The ice cream was real bean vanilla that paired very nicely with the warm pie.
If you find yourself in New Orleans near the warehouse district, stop by the Grand Isle. Seafood and pie - a great combo.
We ate here last night. I had the ribs. They were very good, but very messy, and the fancy napkin did not seem enough to to stay clean. Sticky hands. The service was average.
The bathroom had blowers instead of towels, I didn't think I was possible to get out of the bathroom with clean hands.
We got an appetizer, gumbo, that was delicious. However, half way through, two more appetizers were delivered that were intended for another table. In the process my gumbo was unceremoniously removed from the table! When our food was delivered, I mentioned it to our server and he immediately got me a new bowl of gumbo.
We weren't really aiming to have lunch there, circumstances led us to the area. We had been before but didn't explore anything outside of onion rings and beer so I was a little hesitant about spending our lunch afternoon there. I ordered the Shrimp Caminada Po-Boy with concern since it was a $17 sandwich, $2 for fries and the description didn't really jump off the page. I received a mess of a sandwich and by that I mean a most beautiful mess. The herbs were incredibly fresh and added delicious dimension to the citrusy and slightly buttery shrimp. There was the slightest hint of heat but nothing to damage the palate. All in all it was the best darn sandwich I've had in a very long time. A little pricey, a lot tasty.
The service and food were excellent! We enjoyed raw oysters, boiled shrimp, striped bass, and lemon pie (the chef's twist on key lime pie... it was awesome).
The Shrimp Caminada po boy is amazing! Tender shrimp, spicy sauce, fresh herbs. Small but excellent selection of specialty cocktails. I had the Sazerac, no complaints there. Dessert (white chocolate bread pudding) was also tasty. Nice atmosphere. Recommended.
The best ever baked/broil whole refdfish is here and it's always great each and every year when we come during an annual convention. No surprises..but we got confused and asked for fried as opposed to baked. Our server, Cici, saw the disappointment when she got the fish on the table and even though we messed up the order and involved the manager, Mike, who insisted he'd get us another one, baked. What an amazing service.
We also tried calamari, it was delicious with amazingly flavored sauce....wedge salad with fish bacon (yep..bacon out of fish..Heavenly) much better than Emeril's (sorry Emeril..I love you but the dressing lacked flavor this time dear). Then we tried the peanut butter chocolate cheesecake and white chocolate bread pudding with bourbon and french press.
What can I say? we are happy campers, as each time we stop by year after year. It was too cold this time but we love the patio dining here. It's one amazing experience all together.
We had great food and great service. The portion size on the shrimp pot was large enough to share. The flavors were the stars of the show, great Cajun seasoning.
Wonderful. Great happy hour prices and excellent oysters and great beer.
Crawfish pasta was very good. Service was friendly and attentive.
I can't recommend the restaurant, at least at lunch time. The service was slow, my daughter' cheeseburger was a hockey puck, and my Po'boy was lackluster. Even though they graciously gave us a second cheeseburger, I still wasn't impressed. The drinks were good, especially after a 9 hour drive.
We are in New Orleans for the week. We ate at Grand Isle twice. The food there is legit. We had oysters, the surf and turf poboy, the hamburger, cocktails, and appetizers. Everything was worth every penny. Jessica was a good bartender!
Thank you for a wonderful time and the best white chocolate bread pudding with ice cream on top, the coffee was also a treat . We needed cheering up and we received just that. The final stop on our list. Elonda made sure we were well taken care of!
Best Happy Hour in CBD. Huge shout out to Cash Money, my main man on the oyster shucking table does it right. Go by and see him for the best oyster happy hour (also try the shrimp boil). He is a TRUE Local born and raised in the 3rd ward who shows real New Orleans hospitality to all who enter.
Visited this restaurant for the first time. Service was great, smoked oysters and the trout was fabulous. Drinks were great good and we did not wait long for a table. Lisa waited on us. Very friendly and outgoing, would go back.
This rating is based solely on the drinks I was served at the Boycott Bowl on 2/3/19. They were fabulous!
Great 👍 Happy hour 👌🏽 Devant the oyster 🦪 shucker showed us a great time !!! He definitely made our experience wonderful!!! We will definitely ask for him when we go back !!! Thank you for a great 👍 time …
I loved it. good service great meal the waiter was happy to serve us. i had root beer and the meal was prawns and oysters and they were beast very happy with my meal
When I'm in town I always sit at the oyster bar and the service is fantastic. The owner is very friendly and the staff is awesome. Great atmosphere, food is deliciuos and the beer is cold.
I love coming here because they make you feel welcome.
Good place to eat. Not located in the French Quarter but a few blocks away near the convention center, Grand Isle is a good seafood restaurant. My crawfish cakes were very good.
The food actually tasted great however there was a bug in my plate of crawfish boil. I understand they come from the river but the chef should've checked the plate to be sure it was no critters mixed in with the food. To add insult to injury the manager laughed at the bug being in the plate like it was no big deal. So I left the restaurant hungry and it ruined my first experience with crawfish boil.
Awesome waiter, fantastic food.Best salmon and to die for halapeno corn grits!!!! Cosmopolitan was great, crawfish beignets super, fried oysters great
Good food and good drinks. The gator sausage is excellent. Not keen on the ribs but only cuz I prefer KC style ribs. Otherwise some good eats!
Way over priced - she crab is a cup for that price should have been a bowl, sanwiches (poboy oyster) good, but it's just the sandwich- no chips, fries,.... pecan pie was more filling than pecans. Beer cold, atmosphere was good service at bar was good as well.
Very good seafood especially the fresh raw oysters and fried ones also - the fried oysters come in two varieties- regular and smoked - didnt try the smoked fried ones this time but will next time. Will go again next time we are in New Orleans.
This restaurant was recommended by the concierge desk at the Hilton Riverside. Great casual dining. We had the basket of shrimp and the fried oysters. Both delicious.
Food is fantastic, staff is pleasant, and the view is good.
Food is catered to tourist flavor, so locals will not find true cajun or spice flavors in dishes like boiled seafood (crawfish, etc.). Also found reservations overbooked and saw many walk in customers turned away. Service was a bit lengthy, but acceptable.
Blackened gulf fish was fantastic. Especially, potato was crispy and creamy inside.
Amazing restaurant! Oysters were awesome and the JuJu shrimp is incredible! Also, try the Mac and Cheese, it’s best I’ve ever had!
We ordered their signature po boy and it was amazing. I wish I had gotten one to go. Also the crab dip is a must. We stopped in here randomly and im glad we did. Ill be back for sure.
This is ANOTHER FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT!! I never thought I could get delicious food, but this place is spot on! Their BBQ Shrimp, Whole Red fish, and fried Oysters are my FAVE!! Go and check them out! Ask for Mike. . . He is THE BEST WAITER EVER!!!! Oh yeah. . . Ask him to give a desert recommendation! You won’t regret it! My husband and I practically live in that place! Ha! We need stock options. Happy dining! Maybe I’ll see you there!
Dominique and Derrick are the dynamic duo! Cocktails are always the perfect blend with raw oysters shucked just right. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu
Great atmosphere and food! I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was wonderful! They have a limited menu if you're not into seafood and are a bit pricey.
My first New Orleans food experience and I was not disappointed in the food, it was excellent. However, being in a “tourist” area, the service was less than stellar. Great food, not so much on service.
First to NOLA
We came for our 15th anniversary and had friends from back home Tyler TX that had been here told us different places to go well they missed the number 1 place in NOLA Grand isle restaurant you guys killed it
And the water Nate is possibly the nicest guy I have met here thanks for making this a great experience for us
Excellent value for money and caring staff. The ribs were absolutely delicious.
Best crawfish I've had since leaving Mississippi. Happy hour specials of oysters, local brews, and cocktails should not be missed!
Our concierge recommended Grand Isle (across street from our hotel). The fish stew if over-the-top! All fresh seafood flown in daily. Lemon icebox pie also to die for. And the oysters! Highly recommend it.
First experience with oysters and they were delicious!! Also had the shrimp poboy and it was also just as good. Recommend if you like seafood and wonderful atmosphere.
While staying at Harrah's, my husband and I were looking for nice quick bite to eat. We stumble to Grand Isle, after having horrible services at Ernest Cafe. Entered and instantly the vibe and atmosphere changed. We sat at the bar where we met Clay. Clay is the definition of customer service. I had his special drinks, hurricane and namaste (ON POINT, in Clay words lol). We ordered the shrimp & grits and crawfish alfredo...let's just say I did my fat girl dance in my chair. Lol we will come back and YOU SHOULD TOO!! THANKS GRAND ISLE AND CLAY FOR A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! SMOOCHES
A lot of good food. The atmosphere is fun. The crawfish beignets were really great. I heard the other foods were great and large portions.
Simply amazing! I picked this place on vacation with my family of 12...Needless to say I was the hero of the day!Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. We all were trying each other's food and we all enjoyed it.Highly recommend!I will be back!
Indeed has the best poboy in town.
This place has my favorite happy hour in the city... 4-6pm Monday to Friday 9$ raw dozens 7$ half pound shrimp boil with potatoes corn garlic mushrooms and smoked sausage... you won't regret it
Exceptional meal. I tried everyone's dish and all were great. Get the Mac and cheese as a side dish and/or the greens! Awesome is the pecan pie with rum sauce. Absolutely divine. Hidden gem next to Riverwalk.
Was with a big group and the server killed it... he put in work!!! The food was wonderful! Try the Crawfish Beignet... fantastic!!! I had Catfish and greens with rice. Wow. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Great rustic restaurant with incredible baked oysters. My alligator po-boy was the first po-boy I had ever eaten and was a great choice. Lovely place with great ambiance right near Harrah's.
The baked oysters was delicious. We had the sampler. For an entree: the small plate of the braised beef brisket was awesome. Its a wonderful place.
Crawfish beignets and drinks are delicious, ambience is casual and relaxing. Would highly recommend if you want something off Bourbon St.
Overpriced. Food was good though, but for the price there are better options. My server/bartender suggested adding crabmeat to my fish "for a little extra"... turns out she thinks $10 for a little crab meat is a 'little extra money'.
Char-grilled oysters were the bomb! Awesome bloody mary's as well. A bit pricy for some items, especially side items. 4 Stars for the pricing
Great Happy hour for oysters and cocktails. And the shrimp are HUGE
Waiter Alix was great. Real personable and great attitude. Chicken gumbo was bland to me but was my first gumbo. Redfish with spinach was great.
Food and service was good. There were 7 of us including a 2-year old. Just be aware that there is an automatic 30% gratuity for a table of 6 or 7 with the toddler
Solid local food. Good atmosphere and friendly service.
Portions are a bit small, but quite delicious. While it was very good, tuna was a little over cooked.
I'm not a seafood person at all but I will say my food was delicious. Won't make any claims about anything else. The service was quick and accurate
Most relaxing place. Each time we arrive in NOLA, we go to GI first. For me, a glass of inexpensive chardonnay and a fried oyster po' boy. Ahh. What relief from a flight and checkin. Food's fresh ... and good. (Try the onion rings.)
Great charbroiled oysters! Crawfish Benignt were fantastic. Juju sauce was delicious on the chicken sandwich.
Definitely worth the stop. Sit at the Oyster bar with Darnell. Oyster happy hour rocks. Sorry about the photo. I kind of forgot to take a pic before.
I love this restaurant! The food is always excellent. Oysters are always meaty and delicious. Plus a helpful, friendly staff to make for a fun night!
The best food we had the entire time we were in New Orleans
Great food but felt rushed to leave after I finished eating. The waitress came and took my plate as soon as I ate the last fry (hadn't even swallowed it yet).
The food is really good, but too expensive for my taste. Spent $50 on lunch.
Calamari was a little salty. Oysters are the best in have ever had!!!
Stopped in for a coffee and their bread pudding. Our waitress, Elonda, was the best. Coffee was excellent and the bread pudding was delicious!
Our party of 30 was extremely well taken care of, especially when you consider how challenging it can be to get the order from people who are milling around and visiting and not staying seated! Excellent food; beyond excellent wait staff!
Had the shrimp camadina (sp ck) po boy and damn near lost my mind it was so good. The spices, the herbs, the slaw, just everything. I didn't leave anything left on that plate. Hahaha
Service was great. Food was so delicious. Rv cutting we had was great and they served the kids first.
Excellent cuisine, friendly staff.
Food was great, I had the seafood gumbo and fried oysters in a sweet spicy sauce, was great!! Customer service was great!! 1st stop in NOLA!!
One of my favorite spots I'm always at Grand Isle at least once every 2 months
Jolanda was fantastic! Great place to eat. Great atmosphere and delicious food.
Amazing service, Alana made great suggestions for food, the food was very tasty. The employee seem to e joy working here and are very nice. Great group with Jay and Jonathan too.
Coming from a full blooded Italian, the Crawfish linguini was some of the best pasta I ever had. Oysters are fantastic as well
First crawfish of the season. Left us wanting more. Great beer too.
I ordered the crawfish, baked oyster, and gumbo from here! Food and service was excellent! Highly recommend eating here when in NOLA!
Awesome food, great quality, great service. Only negative is the cheap frying oil that everyone uses like canola and soybean oil. These oils are toxic for consumption.
Our go to when we go to new orleans to relax
best damn seafood restaurant in the city. friendly and professional staff & management. Joe made this the best birthday experience, and we will come back - often!
Food and waitstaff are both excellent. We ate there twice on our 2 day stay. Jonathan is a delight.
The waiter was excellent even under very busy conditions. The food was very good and the hurricane was made with freshly squeezed juices.
BE AWARE!! We were a party of 5 and 20 %tip was automatically added.I guess my own fault for not paying attention.
Contacted the restaurant, they were very professional and promised to address the situation immediately.
WE HAD THE BEST DINNER POSSIBLE HERE ON CHRISTMAS EVE, THE FOOD WAS AMAZING AND THE SERVICE WAS AWESOME.. DEFINITELY HAVE TO VISIT IF IN NEW ORLEANS.
Food was excellent and the service just as good.had sauted crab claws to start and red plate fish dinner .finished with while chocolate bread pudding ,heaven!
Very tasty food with a helpful server named Ally. Also the oysters for $1 was a great deal!
The food was delicious and the service was speedy
Fantastic food, and reasonable prices!
Fantastic! Our first meal in New Orleans, and I feel like they live up to the hype! Plus our waiter Mark was phenomenal.
Great restaurant, I didn't care too much for the small menu's though. But food was good and the people were nice.
They were a lil busy but the food was amazing. Very fresh. Shrimp & grits.... awesome!
Great food great service. I had the boiled seafood which was great. But my wife had the chicken and it was better than my plate.
Fisherman’s stew, drinks, and gumbo were subpar. Service was slow and overpriced for what you get but staff was friendly though.
Great Service and very Frendly Staff. My Wife and I live going there on our way to the Casino
Almost perfect. I had the crawfish pasta and was very happy. Not everybody at the table was happy though so 4 stars.
Limited menu but filled with local favorites. Good service and reasonable prices. Great location and you don't have to dress up.
Enjoyed lunch. Jacimo was a very patient and very attentive. Food was fresh and the staff made this first experience a very good one for our group!!
Food mostly good but ribs had little meat, old rule dont eat beef in a seafood restaurant. Seemed to be short help so a little slow but friendly good service.
Delicious! Smoked oysters, redfish, shrimp, gumbo. If you go, ask for Lisa to serve you. She's a joy!
Treated us like we were the only people in the bar! Great experience with the oysters and bartending!
Wonderful food and service! We had fried shrimp and juju shrimp! Going back for Happy hour!
I had a decent experience there but unfortunately the beaches are filthy which hurt the experience for me a little. But if you enjoy fishing and don't care much for everything else it's a great time.
Love the delicious food and the way ample portions. Great staff provided exceptional service, and always with a smile.
They have the best food in new Orleans period nd everybody in there treat u wonderful nd u have a good time in there -Calvin💯💯💯 …
I have been to this Restaurant twice, 6 months apart; both times i really enjoyed the food. Fresh ingredients and tasty meals.
Stop to see if they had any Key Lime Pie. They didn't have it but suggested I try their Lemon Ice Cake(pie). I must it was good!
Honestly, the service and food were not worth the price. Staff was far from friendly but kept our soda glasses full. It was loud and echoed. It wasn't bad but it wasnt great.
Very good, plenty of food for the price. Recommend the fried chicken livers and pepper jelly. Beware. High priced, small desserts.
Great prices and service
Tried their award winning po boy. Was interesting. Lots of flavors shrimp, red peppers, mint, cilantro, etc. Was a bit of many strong flavors competing.
Food was pretty good, but service was slow even though there weren’t many people dining. Not bad to try, but not a have to.
Amazing service. All the employees were so kind, helpful and fast. Food was great. Loved the ju ju shrimp.
