Reviews of Gianna Restaurant

I had booked this place for dinner and went their with a couple of friends to celebrate my husband's birthday. They made the birthday celebration really special. They wrote "Happy Birthday <my husband's name>" one each of the menu cards they kept on our table. My husband and everyone of the table was gladly surprised. I had no idea about this plan and it was really sweet of them to do it. The food was really delicious but remember the portion size is less. We ordered the Margarita pizza and it was yum and didn't have too much of cheese and tomato on it, it was just perfect. We ordered the potato gnocchi which was delicious and the gnocchi had brown butter sauce which was nice and wasn't dry. The garlic bread was delightful. The manager later served us with a nice birthday dessert which was on the house. He asked me which dessert would my husband like which was nice of him to do. We tried the butterscotch dessert and it was unique.

Very nice setting, service could be better. A very unapologetic hostess, nice waiter and then a server with attitude…all of our dishes came out at the same time and we ordered one ice cream, waiter brought 2 and he said we wouldn’t get charged for the second one…and then we did get charged 🫤. Food is good, a bit too spicy for me, Italian is not supposed to be so spicy. Ciabatta was great. They have a great concept, they can do better.

Amazing food and awesome service! My daughter had the Ricotta Gnocchi with Shaved Black Truffles on top and said it was delicious! I had the Crawfish Ravioli, and it was out of this world! We also had the Chopped Salad—delightful!! Meatballs—excellent! Ciabatta Garlic Bread—surprisingly a must get! We saw many families with children, so it appears that this is a good family place.

My party of 2 visited Gianna for Sunday brunch. I chose the first reservation of the day and we were literally the only guests for quite a while. However, things eventually picked up. The food and drinks were a solid 4. The only reason I’m not saying 5 is because this was the least tasty beef short rib I’ve ever had. It wasn’t bad, but I’ve had way better. Everything else was enjoyable. The meatball appetizer was delicious, but you really need to order the ciabatta garlic bread to accompany it. There are only 3 meatballs in the order, so we paid to add another so each person would have 2. I had the butterscotch budino for dessert and our server explained it so I’d know what to expect and how to eat it to get the maximum flavor. As a matter of fact, I want another as I’m writing this review. Our server was great and made our experience so much better. He really listened to what I was saying and catered our experience accordingly. For example, I’m a germaphobe and don’t like my eating utensils placed on the table. I jokingly told him that and reached for my fork and knife before he could place it down. Later in the meal, the young lady he was training brought new utensils and placed them on a napkin. That was mind blowing to me, but very much appreciated. Overall, amazing experience…I’d definitely like to visit for dinner service.

Nice, open, Bistro atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Great bar
Started with Grilled Octopus which was super tender. The crispy Andouille bits did not overwhelm and the fingerling potatoes were a nice add
Though the Mushroom Ravioli did not look appetizing swimming in a broth, it was VERY tasty and the crushed hazelnuts added needed texture
Ended with the Beef Short Rib. Tender and tasty but over salted. Served barely warm even though I asked for it pipping hot.
The wine list is extensive and appropriately Italian-centric and a great Amaro list
Very basic, uninspired desserts, but homemade digestivos. The home made Limoncello was nice and creamy.
Overall good but lacking refinement and presentation. Rustic would work if the atmosphere was not so beautiful.

Son and daughter in law treated us to a fabulous meal Thursday evening, so delicious, Servers were the most attentive I have seen in a long time, so friendly. Food was super good,

Some of the best food I had in New Orleans. Great vibe, spacious restaurant, friendly staff and fast service. It’s about 10 minute walk from the French Quarter which made it easier to get a table and plenty of options to sit.

We had a celebration of my mom being cancer free here - so we went all out. We ordered almost all the appetizers and sides to try. Everything was great but the potatoes and roasted cauliflower were my favorites - I could have made a meal out of those on their own. It was great to go with a small group so you can try a bite of everything...the chicken was amazing and so was the gnocchi. There was so much good stuff to choose from. The orange wine (I know it sounds weird, but try it!) was amazing and paired soooo well with pretty much everything. And I am a huge fan of lemon desserts and while it was really good, the butterscotch dessert was even better. It is always nice to have great food, when it is coupled with great service, it makes the experience off the charts good! Darnell and Allen were amazing and helped make the night perfect!

This meal made top 5 I have ever had and can't stop thinking about it. The burrata and heirloom tomato salad was fresh and the shrimp scampi was so good I wanted another slice of focaccia just to soak up the remaining butter

We came here because it was our first day in New Orleans and every where else required reservations. Got the garlic bread and two personal pizzas and some drinks. Food was great and wasn't too crowded. Prices are fair. The staff was very nice and friendly.
