Reviews of Evangeline
Lynne
After our first brunch experience at Evangeline, we're definitely adding it to our must-do list for every trip to New Orleans. We were pulled in by the bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary's, and those were wonderful. The menu offers so many options, including many New Orleans favorites. All 4 of us ordered something different, and we all loved our entrees. All of the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Nani was our server, and she is delightful. Alex and Beth also helped make sure our glasses were never empty. We're looking forward to trying dinner next time we're in town. Highly recommend everyone check out this great place

Quality Customer Service! The ginger mint julep was very tasty! My entree was the only thing that didn’t give this review it’s fifth start. The alligator was fried too hard. Some of the pieces were dark brown and too crunchy to chew. It lacked any kind of flavor. The po boy portion size was awesome and the ingredients used were quality. Aside from the gator. Decent experience.

I had a great time but my wife's entree was a miss. 5* for the service, 5* for the amazing crab cakes, the delicious fries pickles and craw fish tails, and 5* for my fettuccine with shrimp. Loved the Al Dente done right. Unfortunately, the Alligator Criole was a miss, was too hot, with not enough rice to dilute the spice and sauce, and the meat was too chewy. We didn't even plan to get this entree, but they had run out of the red snapper pesto pasta even though they had just opened and it was a weekend.

While service was impecable and the place itself comfortable and well decorated, the food I had was a little disappointing. We went for brunch, I had the gator and French toast, and instantly regretted my choice. The gator was a little chewy, but not bad. The french toast was, unfortunately, extremely soggy. It was difficult to eat, so I stuck to the crust. I did not want to say anything. Perhaps they would have exchanged my plate, I'm not sure, but I was so turned off by the food that I did not bother. As mentioned, the service was really good, so had I complained, maybe they would have tried to fix it.
On the other hand, my boyfriend was very happy with his dish. I believe he got grits with sausage, eggs, and a biscuit. I tried it too and it was very good, I wished I had ordered it as well. I'm sure his review will be at least 4 stars, but I did not have the same experience, unfortunately.

Excellent food and service! After visiting a few other local restaurants and being disappointed, we had low hopes. While there was no line (which also worried us), we were seated and provided service right away. Our party of 5 included 2 children, and they were treated so kindly. They were given unique beads to welcome them to N.O. We were there for brunch. We ordered fried shrimp for the kids which were spectacular, and so full of flavor! For the adults we had their Cajun Breakfast with sausage (a specialty sausage that’s made with pineapple to add just a hint of sweetness), Fried Chicken & Biscuits, and Pan Pardue. The first two were so perfectly full of flavor, and cooked just right. My favorite part was their sausage, and the egg over easy. The Pan Pardue was just the right sweetness! In addition to exceptional food, the service was very thoughtful and the price was extremely reasonable! We met the owner Rhonda and complimented her and the staff on our service and the exceptional food. This was one of those experiences where everything was done just right, and nothing was left behind. Do yourself a favor, skip the other spots and treat yourself with some truly delicious food from Evangeline’s!

While visiting New Orleans back in October, we popped into for drinks and appetizers. Service was incredible, we were deeply impressed by both the host and our server, their names were Dave and Alex. They both made our experience unforgettable, and we left feeling cared for and nourished. And of course the drinks and the food were great too. I had a mezcal cocktail and fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits. Total heaven 🥰
Kyle D
Alligator bites were delicious (small portion though)
Pasta is heavy garlic
Jambalaya is spicy.
Pimm’s cup was refreshing after heat all day.
Overall fun time eating and enjoying a bar-like atmosphere
Jennie Rountree
The food was average at best. My husband had pasta Evangeline which was really good, but our other dishes were so so. I had the red beans and rice which was supposed to have sausage in it. There were only 3 small pieces in it. Our son had the blackened redfish. It was overcooked and under seasoned. The fried okra appetizer was pretty good. Service was very good.

We were told by our food tour guide to try grilled oysters. Holy smokes amazing. Everything we tried here was amazing. We'll be back for brunch in the AM. Alex took amazing care of us. And David is a character and a half.

We were on our honeymoon and Beth absolutely made our night!!! She was a total comedian and made wonderful suggestions. Fried Okra and Fried Alligator for appetizers. Acadia Crawfish and Grits for my beautiful wife. I had the Pasta Evangeline with Red Fish Blackened. Talk about wonderful!!! The white wine sauce made my whole meal. The Bread Pudding Beignet was the treat we were looking for tonight!!
Rebekah Cathey
Please check this small gem out! We came in for a late dinner and the staff were so wonderful, the food was great and the atmosphere was charming.
Our server helped with some drink recommendations (French 75 & Debutant) which were very good. We got the alligator appetizer which came out fast and the remoulade sauce was the perfect compliment.
The entrees were also very good. The Crawfish & Grits was very creamy and flavorful. The Étouffée was also really great. Both maybe needed a bit more rice/grits. The pasta was good but not as flavorful as the other dishes.
The staff were wonderful! Friendly, helpful with great suggestions, and checked back regularly (but not too much either).
All and all a great dinner spot.

My husband and his friends enjoyed their entrees of exceptional seafood options at the Evangeline. I joined them at the end, as I don't eat meat or seafood or much fried food, so didn't join for dinner. The venue was nice and more intimate due to it's smaller size, so reservations guaranteed space for my husband and his friends. The place was very welcoming and servers friendly and let me join happily for a shared dessert of tasty, fancy bread pudding with caramel sauce at the end of their meal, because I was meeting them to head out for our evening's musical entertainment. Very pleasant, very accommodating, nice New Orleans experience!

Came for an early dinner. Sat outside as it was nice out. Service was quick. I had the fried gator and the jambalaya. Both were very good. The gator was fried well and crispy and the remoulade sauce that it came with paired well. The jambalaya was spicy and hot, very good.
Rhonda Magee
Went here for brunch, and it was just ok. The brunch menu is limited, but they did have bottomless bloody marys that were great. For the price, I expected a greater flavor profile of some wow factor, and it wasn't there. Great service, though!
Jason Mouton
We had a great experience at the bar. The service and atmosphere were top notch. The Bloody Mary was one of the best I have had in addition I would also recommend the Miss Mezcal which is sweet smokey and spicy.
Keton York
Absolutely excellent food. Perfect portion size and affordable when compared to most other places in the Quarter. Very laid back and enjoyable environment. Service was perfect, very kind staff. Crawfish and grits were amazing. Would recommend if you are near by. Will not be disappointed!
Jay Miller
We had a great experience and the star of the show was the green fried tomato and crawfish etouffe. Outside seating was nice and the staff were polite and helpful.
Kiara Valencia
This place would not look like much, but it was actually a cute hidden gem. Something I appreciated was the fact that it had a courtyard and that the service was very pleasant. They gave me an entire pot for coffee. Food was tasty but they definitely did not have a big selection. I like when places give more than my initial expectation.
Brandon Addison
Excellent Food
Huge portions
Excellent Service
If you're looking for a cozy place with Excellent food and Excellent customer service off the busy path this is it.
We had the pleasure of talking to the owner and the chefs. It definitely will be our to go to spot every time we are in New Orleans.
Jim Cordes
Outstanding service. Megan was great. Gentleman at the door much fun.
Fried Green Tomatoes - excellent - Crawfish Etoufee - good - Shrimp and grits - well, a hot mess - a scoop of over salted grits "drowned" in a heavly over spiced (head sweating) soupy cheese sauce disaster with rubberized overcooked shrimp (a crime in NOLA) Not good at all but we were tired from traveling since 4 a.m. and not in a complaining mood. Beer was cold and cocktails tasty.
Great courtyard atmosphere. Other things on the menu look interesting so would try again.
Suzana Kedron
Perfect stop. The charred oysters are a must! The bartender is attentive and can make a wicked Irish coffee. There’s a lovely patio in the back too.
ireeloveslife “Iree” Mendez
Before and after plates of our meals. We ordered the crawfish etouffee and pasta Evangeline. The food was delicious as you can see from the clean plates. The etouffee didn’t come with enough rice so I ordered another side of rice with it. Mr. Alex was our waiter and he provided excellent customer service!
Bill Ho
We loved this place so much we came back here three times during our trip to New Orleans! We had the pleasure of having Beth as our server and she was fantastic! Service was great and the food was phenomenal -- authentic flavors, good value, and pretty generous portions! During two our of three visits, Beth was kind enough to recommend three chef's specials (brown butter cake for dessert, the gator dish with tomatoes and rice entree -- brunch special, and the blackened fish fillet w/ linguine, mushrooms, and shrimp medley for main dinner course special) and we were glad to have taken her up on her recommendations 👍! You won't leave this place hungry and we will definitely be back next time we are in New Orleans!
Thanks again for the wonderful hospitality and awesome food!
Cece C
Dined here alone on a Friday night. Nice bartender with good service and drink options. I got the Evangeline pasta which had a generous serving of shrimp but didn’t taste ‘amazing’ - would go back to try other things ! One drink and one entree cost me around $40 with tip
Derik Jones
Evangeline's is wonderful. We orderes the alligator bites, which were fried perfectly with a hint of a white wine taste to them and they were just wonderful with the remoulade sauce that they provided.
We also had the fried crawfish with fried pickles, and they tasted incredible. They were cooked perfectly, and you could taste the essence of the ocean in the crawfish. The pickles weren't over battered, they were flavorful and made you desire more after every bite.
I ordered the catch of the day which was grilled pompano over Cajun yellow rice, crawfish, and andouille sausage with a beurre blanc sauce and it was tremendous. The fish had a seasoning that almost spoke to being blackened, and it coupled with the beurre blanc and rice magically.
Okay, look. I'm drooling again just thinking about it. Bottom line, this place is what you thought it was. I am already looking forward to flying out from California to have it again. Also, everyone was SUPER nice, which was nice.
Lucia Hassell
We enjoyed an absolutely delicious brunch here after walking around since our initial brunch location was a bust. I recommend making a reservation just in case.
Ryan Hayes
This hands down was the best experience I’ve had since I landed in NOLA. Beth was PHENOMENAL and showed my wife and I a true NOLA experience. The food was amazing, and the bread pudding beignet is to die for!!!! Thank you Beth!!

Delightful dinner with New Orleans Flavor
On my last night for business in New Orleans and walked past Evangelines. What good luck!
I sat at the bar, next to the skeleton which was super fun to get pictures with.
The bartender was super friendly and attentive. I ordered a Pimm's Cup, which was a treat as I never find this cocktail on menus.
I ordered 2 appetizers: Crab Cakes and Fried Pickles and Crawfish. The Fried pickles were delicious, the batter was light and the remoulade sauce really made the dish special. The Crab Cakes were flavorful and more of the delicious remoulade sauce was drizzled over the top.
As a single woman looking for a safe and comfortable place to eat, this small restaurant was perfect. Arrive early (6:00ish), I did not have reservations but was able to sit down immediately, when I left an hour later, the restaurant was full.
Samuel Silva
We walked in and we asked for a table for our family of 5, they let us know that they had no open tables, they were booked up on reservations... However, they said they had one table that was open for an hour, one hour before their reservation arrived. So we agreed to it, because we had really wanted to eat there! We ordered right away, and the server was fantastic and even though we were in a time crunch he assured us to just enjoy ourselves, he even brought some bead necklaces and bracelets for our kids, which made their night. The food arrived fast and PERFECT! As we were eating and enjoying our dinner, the host and the server came over and let us know that the party of 5 that had reserved our table, was down one person to a party of 4, and they were able to seat them at a smaller table. So we were able to then take our time and enjoy the rest of our meal without rushing! The staff was absolutely fantastic and so kind. They were incredibly patient and welcoming. The food was absolutely fantastic, and we ordered some beignet bread pudding, which they gave to us on the house and wished us happy holidays! We recommend this restaurant to everyone, and it absolutely made our first time in New Orleans memorable! Thank you Evangeline staff!
Jason Pettrey
Fantastic! Great service - had the crab cakes and grilled redfish. Don’t forget your Sazerac cocktails!!
D. Jaxxson
We came to see Brett because he makes the best Long Island Ice Teas on the east side of the Mississippi. Disappointed that he’s a waiter, but that’s fine because everyone has to earn a living.
We had some food (jambalaya and the étouffée) and it was all tasty! The first day, the drinks were the middle of the road, but doable.
The gent shucking oysters was cool and had a lot of information and a nice background in cooking.
We returned for bottomless mimosas and they were fresh, smooth and sparkling. Nice crowd being next to a fire station. Always some action.
Overall, Evangeline is in rotation.
Kassie Peterson
We were seated in the back patio which was very nice and romantic. Enjoyed raw and char grilled oyster. Pretty good. Then had a cup of gumbo, this was not very good, way too much rice and the only flavor was being too spicy and not very good. Also tried the butter cake and this was too sweet and ice cream melted too fast. Just a little too expensive for the food. Service was extremely nice, every person there was exceptionally wonderful
Pete Smith
Excellent New Orleans cuisine. The deep fried pickles are amazing. Fresh food, great service, and outdoor seating is lovely. The bartender made delicious drinks! The wait staff were very attentive. I highly recommend this destination when visiting.
Doug Weinberg
Dinner at Evangeline was an excellent experience. We were a party of 6 including 2 children (4 and 2). They were incredibly accommodating. The food was good, though prices for mains was a bit steep. The only knock on the restaurant was that they had desserts on their menu that they couldn't provide, not because they were out of it but because it didn't turn out to their standards. On the whole, the drinks were good, the service was excellent and the food was solid.
Crystal Marsh
Almost 5 years later and Evangeline’s is still fabulous! Bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s makes everyone happy, to include the birthday boy! They added so many special treats from beads to shots to celebrate his 21st! Thank you for making it special for him! Food is still great, our server was beyond awesome, and the host is quite spunky! Only flaw is no fault to the restaurant, but the GM/Owner? could relax the rbf and maybe not want me to walk the other way upon entry! I was so close…
Fantastic service, food, & great place to just relax and enjoy the local atmosphere. Highly recommend!!!
Jeff Hood
Great atmosphere for a date night out. My grilled fish with potatoes and steamed broccoli was excellent! We paired our dinners with a fabulous malbec. The desserts were delicious. The staff was helpful and attentive. This was a tasty choice for our weekend in NOLA.
Helena Andújar
Arrived without reservation on a Saturday night and got a place at the bar. As their specialty is cajun cuisine, I went all in and ordered alligator creole. The meat was harder and chewier than I expected. It had a faint seafood taste that reminded me of conch. I didn't particularly care for it but I had to try it. For dessert, I had the bourbon pecan pie a la mode, which was delicious.
Despite being super busy, service was great and the place just has a really cool vibe.
Ellen Johnson
Had lots of gluten free options and a really nice mint julep!
Manuel Dominguez
Great place to eat, the bartender was great to talk to, and all the wait staff were incredibly friendly. The food tasted great, I had the fried green tomatoes and jambalaya, both were delicious. Come hungry if you order the jambalaya it is quite a lot, the drinks were also quite tasty!
Ilshat Ahatov
Amazing authentic creole food and really nice staff, especially Remy.
We had jambalaya and alligator, both were delicious.
Noah Shutty
The grits and crawfish etoufee was my favorite thing I ate while in New Orleans. The bartender was friendly and made a hella refreshing mocktail.
Jermaine Taylor
I've lived in the south most of my life and come from a very culture rich family. And this was some of the best food and drinks I've had in my life! Service was very well paced, the server was attentive and not pushy. We did hit a snag at the end when we ordered dessert as we had to be somewhere else very soon and were late but the server kept us updated. We made the mistake of ordering dessert when a large number of people ordered entrees and had to wait a bit but the manager gave us all a free shot so we weren't too mad to be quite honest. All in all. Wonderful restaurant to have dinner at!
Brian Blazewick
Food was amazing! Great service! We had a later res to celebrate a birthday, they had no issue with us bringing a cake from a local bakery. Ended up sharing the cake with the staff. What a great night!
Alex De La Garza
If you want brunch. This is the place. Their alligator to mimosa ratio is for sure a little taste of New Orleans.
L A F Berry
OMG. The food was so good. I had the crawfish and grits. Our server, Nick, was so thoughtful and attentive. He made the meal even better. Thank you Nick.
Kate Carbone
My husband like the Creole but my pasta seemed way over seasoned, good flavor just too rich.
Boris S.
Fantastic food, incredible friendly staff, great atmosphere. Best dinner of our 10 day trip in US. We will be back.
Lisa Iribarren
AMAZING!! We were looking for something extraordinary for dinner and we didn't need to look any further than across from our hotel!! So glad we were recommended this place by our hotel!! We started with a mint julip, our first ever! Very good. Then shortly after we ordered our food was being delivered!! My husband had the Evangeline pasta and offered me a bite, so good that I could've eaten his whole plate but I ordered the real winner of a meal, the crayfish etouffe. It was so flavorful with the perfect amount of spice!! We didn't skimp on dessert either!! My husband had the bourbon pecan pie and I had the beignet bread pudding!! So glad we released our belts for that!!! It was so good that we are coming back tonight to try the other meal that we were wrestling over to eat last night!! Ruby was our waitress and was so nice to meet!! See you tonight Ruby!!
s John
Just like the Disney reference, Evangeline makes you feel happy. our brunch experience was wonderful. the food was delicious and pretty fair price considering some of the other places around. coffee good, crab cakes and grits good and service was wonderful
Ed Phillips
Best meal I've had in a while. The blackened redfish over crawfish & pesto pasta was devine.
Jennifer Evers
Love this place. The food is delicious, the staff is awesome, the atmosphere is great. I love the crawfish and grits and the fried okra but really you can’t go wrong because it’s all delicious.
Nadja Williamson
The food was phenomenal and the staff were upbeat.
We ordered the chargrilled oysters and definitely recommend trying those when in season. The crawfish etouffe was creamy and had a lot of depth to the flavors. The crab cakes were probably my favorite as they weren't over battered and had generous amounts of actual crab in it.
If nothing else, we would definitely come back just to order the bread pudding beignets! SO GOOD!
Really glad we stumbled across this restaurant. Highly recommend!
Keitra McClure
Mouthwatering goodness. We dined here on a Sunday the service, food & ambiance were EXCELLENT. I ordered the Jambalaya, a house drink and the Rum Pecan pie a la mode. The taste was everything i expected, very affordable. Be sure to sit in the courtyard if the weather permits!
Nick White
Found this place when every other place had a wait. They have a simple menu that's delicious. I got the fried green tomatoes that were perfectly crispy. My friend had the Andouille and Alligator sausage omlette with the tasty wedge fries. Their coffee is delicious and server was so nice. Moderately priced and affordable. Worth a try for your morning breakfast.
Nichole Coley
Get the crawfish etouffee, you will NOT be disappointed! This is my favorite meal in all of NOLA!
Charlie Christiansen
Awesome place. Phenomenal food, great service. This is a must try!!. Reservations recommended. pasta Evangeline with red fish is fire!!!! Okra is legit as well. Will be back
Kathy Murdock
Best meal of our week in NOLA! I had the Grilled Redfish with Crawfish Pesto Pasta. The flavors were amazing! Highly recommend. My husband had the Crawfish Etouffee and loved it. Great service and great ambiance on the patio.
bryan Arias
Good Restaurant close to the center of New Orleans. Came here one morning to eat brunch with my girlfriend. Staff is friendly, service is quick, and food is delicious. Good hole in a wall restaurant.
Ashley Rogers
The food here is delicious! We walked into this little restaurant not knowing what to expect. The decor and vibe are comfortable and classy. Evangeline's staff are all friendly and quick to respond to questions and requests. I went for brunch and couldn't decide on what to order - everything sounded good! I ended up going with our server's suggestion and ordered the crawfish and grits. It was heaven. Oh my god, it was good! My husband ordered crab cakes benedict, and that was delicious as well. I have a feeling everything on the menu is divine. I will definitely go back next time I'm in the area.
M H
This past weekend my friends and I came here for a nice dinner and we're extremely satisfied! This place has excellent food, excellent customer service and a beautiful outdoor courtyard with heating. We asked our waiter what wine he recommended and it was absolutely wonderful (White Haven Sauvignon Blanc). We ordered and shared the crawfish etoufee this was ridiculously DELICIOUS, the Pasta Evangeline, the chicken and sausage Jambalaya this was the second favorite and the Fried alligator and catfish platter. We will definitely go back.
Alexander Collell
Great restaurant in the French Quarter! Although it is a bit small, I think that helps the atmosphere and makes it very cozy. The redfish with pesto is excellent!
Enoch C
A great brunch with a beautiful courtyard. The crawfish etouffee was delicious as was the lost bread. The fried alligator and waffle was definitely unique though the waffle was very average (3 stars). The bottomless mimosa package was also a big plus for brunch (at $15). Service was also good! Would go again for sure!
Tom Mullins
All about Evangeline was wonderful. Dining in the patio under the stars was a treat. Excellent food, service and atmosphere made our party of 20 comfortable and fulfilled.
Cameron Carbone
Fantastic crawfish étouffée, every bite had at least 2 or 3 tails.
C Yager
Excellent tasty food, everything was great. Great service, friendly staff, unbelievable that it wasn't crowded. Small but nice local beer tap list. Nice desert's. The family all loved it, would highly recommend.
Claire Mahon
Solid seafood spot with a big patio. I thought the crawfish was a touch over cooked, but nice sauce on the crawfish and grits. Very reasonable prices and we didn’t need a reservation at 6 on a weeknight.
Human Bean
Had the jambalaya and crawfish etoufee, paired with a jucifer IPA. Lovely meal, bartender took great care of us. Highly recommended.
Joe Murphey
Just perfect. The food, atmosphere, and service are spot on. Menu has all the NOLA faves, and some surprises as well. Happy hour from 3 to 6 has really nice drink and food specials, and live music starts around 7. Can’t go wrong with Evangeline. I had the blackened red fish with a cream crawfish topping, with red cabbage and smashed garlic potatoes that was the special last night. My wife had the crawfish and grits. Both were fantastic. If you get Steve the waiter, that’s a bonus. :)
Nghia Huynh
Atmosphere is quite casual and has a nice indoor setting. Outdoor seating is available as well! The food selection has several traditional Cajun dishes with a small twist such as Crawfish and Grits. Overall, good spot to try but there's plenty of similar restaurants in my opinion
Matt Garza
Great food. Gator bites and red beans and rice were good. Older bald guy had really good customer service.
Kim Ferguson
Evangeline's was fantastic. Very quaint, service was superb, friendly staff, and the food was fabulous. I loved the fact they had outdoor seating behind the restaurant. I will definitely be going back the next trip I take!
Tessica Patrick
I can't say enough great things about this restaurant. The food was out-of-this-world...best I've had for dinner in New Orleans. We got there at happy hour unknowingly which was a benefit, I got a mixed drink which was delicious and an order of fried green tomatoes. My husband decided on the Acadia crawfish and grits and I got the Pasta Evangeline which was sooo good both were extremely rich but that made me like it even more. Dessert was Banana Foster need I say more. The server was helpful and on top of it. This is a new favorite spot for my husband and I.
James Gardner
What can I say. I ate and I ate and I ate. So much good food. Luckily my two friends and I decided to share a bunch of small plates so we got to try a little of everything. But the bread pudding beignets we're the icing on the cake. Are you kidding me? Healthy? Heavens no. Delicious? Hell yes :)
Deesha Thomas
My daughter and i was visiting from out of town and the food, atmosphere, and service was everything... if your in that area it's a cozy place to be without denting your pocket
Erica Bednar
Came for lunch on a Saturday around 12:30. Evangeline was almost entirely empty. I was seated on the patio. I was then asked to switch to a different table because apparently they were expecting a group to come and the space was needed: ok, no problem. They had run out of jambalaya so I ordered red beans and rice. The portion was appropriate and everything tasted fine. I finished my meal, paid, and the group still had not arrived to sit at the first table. After eating, I had some indigestion...which was surprising to me, since it was flavorful but not spicy and unfried. I hope that they had not served me something that was going bad ... Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, and likely wouldn't recommend to friends or family with so many other solid options in town.
Rena Patel
Excellent food! The gumbo was really good and filling. The place is tucked away and kind of hidden. Its small but the bar is great and the waiters were awesome. Food came out super fast and piping hot....excellent! No complaints food was tasty and the atmosphere was nice. Bathrooms were also super clean.
Jennie Bosarge
Wonderful time! One of the best brunches I’ve ever had! The staff are just amazing & give the best service… we’ll definitely be back!
Kailyn McClain
This was the best brunch thus far and Beth, our waitress, was outstanding. Your state is better than ours!! Cheers
Frank Ramey III
Great place for drinks or dinner! We stopped in for the happy hour (3-6) for a drink but then ordered the Cajun Nachos (awesome twist on Zapp’s Chips), catfish tacos (I usually really don’t like catfish, but these were amazing!) and, of course, a cup of gumbo (excellent). All that to say, we actually stayed longer because of the awesome service. We had a great time getting Nola advice from Brent and the crew (we’d only been in town for 3 hours). Would highly recommend Evangeline for a “must visit” New Orleans / French Quarter restaurant.
Efrain “Frankie” Galdamez
Delicious Cajun food !! By far one of my favorite places, the music is good the service is ok, definitely recommend you check it out
Grace Outlaw
I visited Evangeline a couple days ago, and was blown away by my experience there! The restaurant itself is beautiful and feels very European. The food was an outstanding representation of Louisiana fare... I had the fried alligator bites (best I've ever had), the crawfish and grits entrée, and their made-in-house cheesecake for desert. Everything was perfectly delicious! Finally, our server, Donny, was wonderful. His service was fantastic and he made great recommendations. Both he and the owner made us feel so welcomed and went out of their way to make our experience a great one. I can't recall ever having a better restaurant experience!
Kevin Rockwell
We got married in NOLA at JazzFest and had our wedding eve dinner for family here. The staff was very kind and accommodating. Everyone at the table loved their food and drink. We ate on the patio and it was a delightful evening of food, drink and love. Thanks to the staff of Evangeline.
Madelene
We got such a good vibe entering the restaurant, but when more and more people started to come the attention from the servants got worse as well. We ordered the Evangeline pasta and Crayfish and grits, the last of them was really good but the pasta was so peppery that you couldn't taste anything else. Even though you kind of noticed the freshness from the shrimps it all got eaten up by all the pepper and we literally had like 2 liters of water to our meal to cope with it. 2 bachelorette parties and one bachelor party screaming their lungs out didn't really ease our night.
Kelly Walvatne
Evangeline pasta and Alligator creole were fantastic!! Waitstaff were fast and so kind. Clean bathrooms, delicious food, and a great quiet spot in a busy area. Such a wonderful experience all around!
michal Lo
The fish was excellent, one of the best I have eaten recently 😋 …
Ernesto De La Luz
Very nice place, love the service and the food was really good. We tried Crawfish Etoufee
Alligator Creole, both very good.
Lauren Prince
Nice restaurant in the French quarter. Simple menu, not suitable for vegetarians. I had a mule cocktail which was nice. The Creole alligator dish I had was delicious. The service was a bit inconsistent with the hostess serving me when my waitress disappeared for a while.
Lauren M.
Evangeline’s was soo good! Came for dinner as part of a bachelorette party. Service was great, food awesome, even included a free necklace and shots for the whole group. Our server, Juliette was fantastic! So sweet and down to earth. 5 stars all around!

Did a Google search on a place to have dinner and chose this lovely restaurant. Was able to make a reservation and they had our table ready for us, and the gave my kids a little treat. We had the fried gator, fried crawfish, alligator creole and so much more. Everything was amazing and I highly recommend going to this resturant. It is worth it and you won't regret it!
Kelsey Bethke
Evangeline had an AMAZING menu. Every item was delicious and unique. We came in a group of ten for a bachelorette party. The staff were incredibly friendly , helpful, and made sure we enjoyed our dining experience more than we could have imagined! Recommended menu item...
food: the Acadia crawfish and grits--so good.
drink: the bees knees--yummy!
Chloe Yager
Great food, wonderful staff. Friendly and knowledgeable. Kudos to Asa, he was great. Brunch was awesome, dinner very good.
Nelson Smash
This was the first spot I hit when I landed in New Orleans and I was disappointed with their jambalaya and gator bites, it tasted bland but the Evangeline pasta was a hit and the drinks were good.
Sarena Fritch
Delicious food and drinks, plus excellent service! The chicken and sausage jambalaya had just the right amount of spiciness with a slight smokey flavor.
Mark Ford
We had a wonderful lunch last Saturday. The food was really good and the service even better. Ask for Ruby. she is very friendly and very welcoming.
Markus Heid
We had dinner at the bar and enjoyed it. Greate po-boy and salads. Food was well prepared and came along with a good beer and wine selection.
Stacy Dampier
I had the crawfish and grits and it wasn't season good and the Grits were extra hard but the Crawfish bites and pickle bites were awesome also great customer service

This restaurant has quickly become one of my favorites in New Orleans. The atmosphere is great, and they have a nice little outdoor patio area as well. It was too cold to sit out there when I went, but I imagine on a nice day it is simply lovely.
Well there, there was some live music, and while we sat basically right next to the bassist and pianist, they continued to check and make sure they were not playing too loudly for us to hold conversation. They were very considerate. The music was not annoyingly fast, but rather reminded me of a very cool hip jazz club. Again there were only two instruments in the group, so that probably helped.
The food was exceptional. I really really enjoyed each and every bite of each meal I tried... I only had the meal pictured, but I tried to others and they were incredible. Dessert was also on point. I only had a draft beer, so I cannot attest to their mixed beverages, but the bar seemed well stocked and well manned. Our waitress (Denise) was very attentive and made wonderful serving suggestions.
The portions were just right to fill you up but not make you feel bloated. We ended up feeling a little bloated because we could not resist trying an appetizer (fried alligator... Very tasty) and a dessert (Bread pudding... Also very tasty)! But even then, it wasn't uncomfortably full...
The prices were very reasonable... It was about $40 per person (before tip) . That included three adult males sharing an appetizer, each person having a main course, sharing a dessert and two adult beverages/one iced tea.
I had no idea that this restaurant was on some stupid Food Network Channel show, but that would not have caused me to go here in the first place. Look at the photos of their food!
I am glad that we tried this place and I am absolutely certain to return on a future visit to New Orleans.
Loria Pitre
We had brunch during our visit. It's great traditional food you'd expect to eat if your looking for the New Orleans comfort food experience.
Benjamin Brown
I really had a good time here. My friends did not. We were able to get a table in the courtyard, but had to move because honeybees were literally falling from everywhere and covered the ground. The next table was much better. The fried green tomatoes were excellently spiced and fried. I got crawfish and grits and have nothing better to compare it to. The grits were creamy, the sauce was rich, and the seafood was well prepared. Probably the best dish I had in NOLA. My friends pulled pork, however, was dry and lacking flavor, and the fries were old. Another friend had the etouffee and it was just a bowl of spicy broth dominated by the flavor of sweet peppers. So, hit or miss

I first visited Evangeline a few years ago, but only had a drink on their fantastic back patio. This trip I went for dinner and was not disappointed. I really enjoyed my Creole Jambalaya, and my wife loved her Pasta Evangeline (I also enjoyed the bites o stole from her pasta). The Bread Pudding Beignets for dessert were delicious. This is a great place to visit on Decatur Street.
Brandon B.
The Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya was some of the best that I have ever had. The drinks were good too.
Thomas J
Fantastic place for NOLA food.
Fried alligator was good and Crawfish Etouffe was
amazing! Great staff and service.
Kevin Kinsella
Evangeline's was absolutely terrific. It is one of many establishments right off the crowded sidewalks by the French Quarter, but it stands out. Richie recommended a good lager they had on draft (It was delicious) and I enjoyed my first ever bowl of jumbo (Country style - also delicious). The place itself is low key during the day, but I imagine it is far more spirited during the evening, what with a name such as Evangeline. I will hopefully be back during my trip to to try the Crabcakes Benedict (Which, I have no doubt, are also delicious). In a city full of restaurants, Evangeline's is a jewel.
Roy Haggerty
Great ambiance, good Cajun selections well prepared.
Jonas Cederlöf
Actually the service is not bad. They where vey attentive to start with but when it started to fill up the service became way slower. The pasta had waaay to much pepper but in all fairness they offered us a complementary entree to "fill the gap". The reason it does not reach a four star is because the final check came out wrong and we ended up paying about $30 too much. Stupid not to "check the check" but still, should you really have to do this?
Jason Noto
Went here a week or so ago for a birthday party for a friend. Everything was excellent and mad respect for Tyler who took care of us that evening.
J Koh
Brunch was alright. Had French toast with gators. Toast was burnt but gators were good. Good service too
Marie Robichaux
A friend and I had brunch here on a Saturday. It was decently busy with a mix of large tourist tables and a scattering of locals. We had the chicken and biscuits with gravy and a plate of fried alligator on French toast. This food was so good, cooked and seasoned beautifully, served quickly, and the staff were so upbeat and friendly. It was a whole party out on the patio! And when they say bottomless drinks, you absolutely get bottomless drinks. Nick took very good care of us, but we also got to meet Nani and Beth as they kept our drinks full. Such a great experience, can’t wait to visit again!!
David Wong
We found Evangeline on our last day of our trip to New Orleans. It was an amazing find. The restaurant was busy but they accommodated us anyways without a reservation. The food was the best we had in the French Quarter--we got the Jambalaya and fried chicken and biscuits. It is certainly not tourist level quality that you find all too often in the Fench Quarter. One dish we ordered was unavailable. Our meal was hardly impacted but the manager insisted on comping us the meal. It wasn't necessary but we could tell they cared more about the experience for their guests than the check. We recommend Evangeline to anyone looking for a great meal in the French Quarter made by great people. Beth in particular was amazing.
Alesha Grecu
The food was excellent and the staff was great.
Bob Arciniaga
Thanks to Lynn the bartender at cafe beignet who recommended this amazing restaurant. People are great, prices are normal and they don’t dumb down the Cajun food for the tourists. The food is amazing because of the fresh ingredients and the staff (especially Beth) were great. Bartender is amazing!
Kind of place where you just ask what is good and they will take it from there!
Great find for great food and drinks!
Mark Jackson
We've dined here several times over the past few years. It's a must see every time we're in New Orleans. The food, drinks, service, atmosphere, and staff have always been excellent. The prices are reasonable, the cocktails are generous, the food is fresh and delicious. I'd give it six stars if I could. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
Matthew Tominaga
The food was good except our waiter was kind of an idiot. I have a shellfish allergy and of course they serve me crawfish as a side dish. The bread pudding beignets we're good, tho. Definitely a shareable dish.
Kristyn Dalton
The food was absolutely amazing! Cooked perfectly and the flavor was beyond stunning!!! I would recommend this place to anyone coming to New Orleans!!! Not to mention the service was over the top!!! Our server was a great time and more fun than any other place we have been so far!!!
Justin Benjamin
Highly recommend. Friendly service, a beautiful courtyard out back, and a simple menu that covers many of the New Orleans staples. The cocktails are well-balanced, and my Pasta Evangeline was delicious. Every dessert comes a la mode, and the ice cream is so fresh and creamy that it tastes like it was made on-site each evening.
Laura Barth
I had just gotten into New Orleans for a work trip and was starving. Found this gem as I was walking around and am glad I stopped in. The service was excellent, no one was weird about the fact that I was coming in for a meal by myself, and they found me the perfect little table tucked in the back. The food came fast and was SO good. Will definitely be stopping back next time I'm in the area.
Wendy Ramirez
Love the crab cakes Benedict with potatoes. Super yummy and worth the wait. The icing on the cake was the pudding beignets. Our server was also very attentive and helpful. It was a nice little quiet place for brunch in the middle of New Years eve madness all around!
Jonathan Passmore
Amazing food. Crawfish and Grits was one of the best things I've ever had. Bread Pudding Beignets we're really good too.
Mason “Quintin” Foret
Service was spot on. The food was spicy without being too hot. Great Cajun flavors abound!

Ms Rhonda, the fabulous owner, proves to be still showcasing AUTHENTIC NEW ORLEANS CUISINE with family recipes that wow any patron...a must for dinner if ever in the city!!!
Tamara Reynolds
Our food was delicious! Every plate was cleaned 😊 …
Des Carter
Had a stellar meal here on April 20th. The redfish special was excellent. Friends had the etoufee and raved about it. Great service by Ashley and the jazz music was lovely. RECOMMENDED!!
David Serrano
Charming restaurant in the French Quarter. We enjoyed a great dinner on Saturday March 12. We were very lucky since we were seated as we walked in!
We ordered fried crawfish and pickles, jambalaya and the bread pudding beignets. Everything was fantastic!!!
It was a shame they were fully booked on Sunday and closed on Monday.
I would definitely recommend it!
Mark Pearson
Awesome atmosphere. Great authentic Cajun cuisine. Bartender and staff was friendly.
Valerie Ammirati
I was lucky to have a group dinner here with 7 close friends, and it was just wonderful! Our server, Nick, was the absolute best. The crawfish and grits is the best thing any of us tasted all weekend! Amazing (a bit spicy)!
micah nicole
I would highly recommend this place especially for dinner! We were seated immediately on a Friday night and the food was spectacular. Live music and delicious cuisine.
Shelley Harenski
Delicious food, probably best breakfast we've ever had. Gil was our server and very hospitable. Can't beat bottomless Bloody Mary's and Mimosas either!
Susan Reitenbach
We had reservations and were seated quickly in the delightful courtyard/patio. We started with the fried crawfish and pickles. I had the redfish over pasta and although I may not be a big redfish fan. (my first time trying it)the dish was wonderful and I couldn't stop eating the wonderful pasta. My husband had the crayfish etoufee. The food was all very good, the space was so pleasant and our server was great as well. I will definitely return when we come back to New Orleans!
Aaron Pinkston
Unique mix of good food without a lofty price tag. Courtyard area is pleasant when its not too hot and the staff is friendly and cares. Not formal but nice.
Chantail Green
We enjoyed the food and quietness from Bourbon St. Nice place for a lovely evening.
Jaime Mendiola
Really delish food, from appetizers to main corse, to dessert. Dessert was sinfully heavenly.
Cheryl Coleman
Hidden gem! Food, drinks and customer service was great!! Brunch till 3pm on weekends
Starsha Frederickson
We did not have a reservation on a very busy night, but they made room for us. The staff were extremely friendly and kind. The Red Snapper fettuccine with cream sauce was amazing as was the crawfish etouffee. Wish we hadn't eaten as much becuase the desserts looked amazing! Elegant atmosphere. Great place for a date night.
Stacie Easterwood
Everything was exceptional...the food, the service, the environment all top notch. And how can you not enjoy bottomless mimosas?
Jessica Murillo
Went for my birthday dinner without a reservation and we got LUCKY! This place was our favorite and definitely will come back next time we're in town.
Frank Vasquez
Nice bar! Kind of tucked away from bourbon street so it isn't overcrowded. When I went there was nothing to complain about
Christina Kunst
The crawfish and grits were fantastic. Beth was so kind and warm and really made my solo lunch experience phenomenal. She was so sweet and really went above and beyond. Highly recommend!
E Kellum
Just down to earth, straight to the point, good!
Jessica Christiansen
The owners and marketing manager are a dream! Salt of the earth people, so kind and fabulous food! We’ll definitely be back!
Elements of Nature
I've been here for 4 days. This is the best food I've had yet! Crawfish etouffee and blackened red fish. Also order a Cheech from the bar if you likes spicy drinks!
Kaitlin Graves
The absolute best food I've had in New Orleans!! The service, food, and atmosphere were A+ amazing. The owners, host, bartender, and oyster shucker were top notch. Thanks for a wonderful New Years Eve experience! We'll definitely be back!
Alyssa Mcaleese
Hubby and I went here for a nice sit down dinner. Food was amazing. The staff especially Alex who was our waiter was top notch. Best of all right across the street from our hotel the Bienville House. Had a nice romantic feel to it as well. Thank you!
Derek Miller
Went to Evangeline for an extremely rare eating out experience due to Celiac disease. I had the Alligator Creole and it was incredible. More important they kept me safe and the chef came out to speak to me and answered all my numerous questions.
erickson carandang
Delicious authentic Cajun cuisine & Quina our server is amazing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended.
aleighb
Found Evangeline while wondering the streets of NOLA and boy were we pleasantly surprised! Rick, David Solomon, and Chef Ronald were amazing! All of the staff were super friendly and gave us so many recommendations for the rest of our stay. We tried the Debutante, the mule, and the Pimm’s cup along with the sausage sampler. Everything was excellent! Jealous that we missed brunch and the gator gravy. We would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the city. We will be back on our next trip!
Cherone P.
First time patronizing this nice duct-off spot did brunch with two of my best friends and we loved it. The staff were very friendly accommodating and just very refreshing! It's why I love New Orleans so much!!!🤗❤️🤗
Chantil Arciniaga
Found this hidden gem and fell in love!!! Warm and welcoming service the second we walked in the door. Had the crab cakes and etouffee, DELICIOUS!! I have been to all the best restaurants in NOLA and this is now in my top 3.
Theo DeCastro
I want to start by saying Meg made our time here beyond exceptional. She was caring, fast, and knew the menu really well. Her service was excellent, truly some of the best.
The food was also beyond reproach. The pesto redfish, crawfish pasta was creamy and flavorful. Their etoufee was also so delicious!
Come here if you ever get the chance!
Tom Kixmiller
Loving the firefly from Princess and the Frog we had to stop at...Evangeline!
Turned out the food was very tastey (fried okra, crawfish po-boy and potato wedgesbut the menu is more diversethan that), served quickly, and friendly staff. We sat at the bar and the bartender was cool. Make sure you say "Hello" to Gabe !!! If you want to sit outside in the courtyard, make a reservation. Walk-ins were inside which was great, too.
Eduardo Cruz Alonso
Great food , good service , good wine . Cozy atmosphere for a reasonable price
Nicole Cuevas
Awesome spot to stop by. My group initially stopped in the night before for some coffee, and we ended up chatting up the Bartender Randell who recommended we come back in the morning for their brunch. We obviously weren’t going to turn down brunch, and wow, was it worth it. Their brunch menu is spectacular. I’ll have to take pictures next time, because we devoured our food the moment it arrived. I got the alligator and waffle, as well as the fried chicken and biscuits to share with my partner. He got the hangover poor boy. Amazing.
Sharon Lau
When we went it was a limited menu but since I don't know what the menu normally looks like it wasn't bothersome to me. I had the alligator and french toast which I thought was supposed to come with potatoes but no potatoes appeared. The quantity of food was sufficient sans potatoes and I was drinking bottomless bloody Marys as well so it was a non issue. Plus one of my dining companions was unable to finish her crab cakes so I helped with that and was quite satiated. I recommend making a reservation in advance as the host was very adamant about the people with reservations getting seated first (this seems very standard but maybe he had faced belligerent non reservations before). Anyway, this place is great and I would definitely return. With a reservation.
marion phillip
The best food we had on our trip to New Orleans. We were looking for a place to eat and found this gem. First the staff was friendly and helpful. We were unsure what to order and took the suggestion of our server. The crab cakes Benedict was delicious but the Crawfish and Grits absolutely amazing. Bottomless Mimosas for $5 with entrees for brunch. I will make this a regular stop on my future trips to NOLA. Don't miss this restaurant .
Michael Reed
Came for dinner and drinks. Crab cakes were good, and jambalaya was spicy but delicious. Beth was a phenomenal server and super nice. Can't go wrong with this place for local dishes.
Richard Wilson
The seafood platter was very delicious. The service was excellent and everyone was very professional.
Lisa Williams
Great experience. Great food.
riley Lindberg
Best food I've had in the french quarter so far!
KC Campbell
Honestly this restaurant was the best part of our trip. Excellent food, amazing atmosphere and the service… the service was just AMAZING. Drinks are strong but tasty and everything is priced well considering the quality. We’re coming back here one more time before we go because it’s simply that good. Such an excellent little restaurant. I’d recommend this to anyone coming to visit!
AWESOME brunch by the way! Mimosas and bloody Mary’s are the best in the city!!
Jamie Giffin
The server recommended the Crawfish Etoufee and it was a great recommendation. Also the fried Crawfish & Pickles were perfectly battered. So many places overdo the breading but Evangeline really gets it right.
Good cocktails too
Jay C
Excellent food, host and more. If your looking for a kid friendly restaurant near Bourbon street this it it. They have a kids menu that has a coloring sheet with some crayons provided. The host welcomed us in with no reservation and gave the kids some beads. Food was excellent and service was fast and on point. Will definitely visit again!
Carolina
Great first experience in New Orleans! The gentleman at the front was welcoming and friendly! We sat at the bar because it was a busy night. It's a small restaurant so it was calm but with good vibes! The bartender was attentive and made sure we always had what we needed. We had the Evangeline pasta and Alligator creole! Yum!! The alligator was perfectly cooked and tender with very flavorful sauce!
Jeremiah Burns
5 days in New Orleans! First off that's almost enough to need AA classes and a sobriety weekend getaway🤣 the service was A+!! From start to finish, the drinks were delicious and ready in the eyes as well as the taste buds. Appetizers were accurate and appealing. Main course was one of the two best meals I had!. I'm actually still going back and forth on which one is 1st place. However, The crawfish ettouffee had me moaning like it was my first time starring in a Porto, and I'm pretty sure I went southern Baptist preacher after polishing the whole plate!! This is a must eat if you're walking on the search for good eats!!
Matthew Cross
This place was great! The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was fantastic! It was really hot outside and without asking our server got us drinks to go right before we left! Probably our favorite dining experience we have had so far in New Orleans! Highly recommend!
Michael Lipkin
TL | DR, Delicious food, friendly staff, highly recommend crab cakes and crawfish etouffee.
Visited on a Thursday night and presented our vax cards to gain access. Wonderful restaurant and I highly recommend to go sit in the court yard. The brick walls help insulate the area from such intense heat.
Staff were very friendly and kind. Enjoyed the meal and the service.
Food came out hot and fresh, everything was super flavorful and delicious.
Sadly, raw oysters are scarce after hurricane Ida and they didn't have any to try at the time.
Michelle Kugler
Absolutely great place for Gluten free. Our server was Drew and he was awesome and very funny. The oysters were very fresh and huge and tasty. Loved the gator appetizer and the blackened fish and jambalaya!
Erika Aguirre
Awesome food! It definitely hit the spot!! Great service, I’m from Texas so hospitality was awesome!! Elysha, Beth and Megan were great!! Definitely a place to want to try for authentic food!!!
Rachel Plotts
The best food!! I had the Pan Pardue (French toast) and my fiancé had Crawfish and Grits. Both were absolutely amazing. Their bottomless bloody Marys and mimosas were amazing! Excellent food and wonderful staff. Chris was an amazing server and made the experience that much more enjoyable. We will definitely be back in our next trip through town.
Emily Williams
Food was amazing, cocktails were really good, service was great. Staff was some of the friendliest we've had yet (even though most NA staff is very friendly). Definitely come here.
Megan N
Wonderful place for strong drinks, spectacular food, and a rare kids delight in the big easy. The service was great, the food was authentic New Orleans, and the vibe was amazing. It was a rare haven for kids, including a kids menu and free beads for a fun little touch. Try the crawfish and fried pickles appetizer, jambalqya, or crawfish etouffe for a real New Orleans feel.
David Policarpio
Highly recommend Evangeline for anyone that wants brunch away from Bourbon. Came in with a big group and everything was perfect. Great food and drinks. Highly recommend the Crawfish and Grits and the Étouffée.
Jason Funderburk
I don't give out five stars as just a general personal quirky rule. This place is an amazing little find away from the touristy hustle bustle and long long lines of the other places. The food is amazing, the drinks are well made, the oysters are fresh and the cocktail sauce is amazing. The patio out back is a romantic little escape from the noise and bustle of the streets. Find this place!
Serena Cimmino
Good food and service but carefull with the tips: we gave 15% and our waiter was not happy at all..
Amnon Berger
Good food and great service, but the atmosphere tops it all. Came in for lunch, can't wait for a chance to come back to try the dinner menu.
Ericka Swearingen
We had a group of 6 for brunch on Sunday. The food was excellent! I recommend trying the fried green tomatoes and the crawfish étouffée! They have $15 bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary’s on Sundays too! Our server Beth was excellent in her recommendations and service to our group. Ask for her if u decide to stop by!!
Taylor Thacker
They did an amazing job on the food and the staff was well trained and very respectful to customers.
Bianca Fernandes
Loved dinner here! The crawfish etoufee was delicious and the drinks were great. The outdoor patio had a great ambiance. Would love to come back to try more of the menu.
Steph Maxwell
We did not have a chance to order food but we do know their mixologist is one of the best. Another bar tender recommended these guys to us. She did not disappoint. French 75 and Pim is really good.
Matthew Niemiec
I would say we came with an expectation of being wowed. However we were left with and now what? There was little to no atmosphere at the outside dining area. Music would have been something to have. They gave us a brand new server who was clueless to what was going on. The food tasted pretty good. However, when you can finish you Jambalaya before the server comes back to check on you, you may want to consider upping your portion size. How was the Jambalaya? A bit dry. Please come here with the expectation that this place is OK and not a "we must come here everytime we are in NOLA"
Kiara Arriaga
I had the alligator creole! Amazing!! I loved every single last bite. My strawberry blonde was refreshing!
Bryan Wohlwend
The jambalaya was delicious. Really fun drinks. Fun atmosphere and well decorated for Halloween!
Natalie Cheung
Excellent food and service! Came here for an early dinner on a Wednesday night and sat out in the back courtyard. It was nice and quiet, away from the business of the main street.
Our server was friendly and attentive from beginning to end and made excellent food recommendations when asked.
Our group shared some apps, okra, crab cakes and tacos. I loved the crab cakes and wanted to order more for myself. Good thing I didn't because the entree was amazing.
I ordered the jambalaya. Spice level was good for a good kick that just lingers in your mouth and the seafood was fresh. The rest of my group was happy with their meals as well. One of my coworker ordered their dish that was featured on the Food Network and enjoyed it a lot.
This is definitely a place I'll eat at again if I'm visiting New Orleans.
Noel Flores
Visited the restaurant during a reunion, perfect for conversation and great food. Had the Gumbo and it was delicious! The staff is super fantastic as I left my credit card behind and they mailed it to me as well as provide pics of the envelope going into the mail box! Thank you so much to Kyle who arranged all this and Kansas for sending me the pic! I will send all my friends here as well as visit next year!!!
Kimberly W
I've never had crawfish before. Decided to try the Crawfish and grits. It was absolutely delicious!!!
Jasper McGee III
I had the most amazing time! BETH was… IS, AND WILL ALWAYS BE SO AMAZING! She truly made the experience worth wild. 10/10 recommend on the service alone! Food was also good and drinks are strong! BETH! BETH! BETH! BETH!
Terri “TFazio” Fazio
Excellent, a hidden gem. Wait staff was super friendly especially Wren. The brunch was the best meal we had in NOLA and that is saying a lot since the food in NOLA was great everywhere. Had a great little courtyard in the back. The etoufee is a must. Perfection. Biscuits were perfect too. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant! Go there!
Josh Sterling
Yooo! This place is definitely a little gem! First of all, Kyle H. Was our waiter and this dude was The definition of a waiter should be, we loved the food, food was phenomenal as well as the service. We had it all, starter (fried green tomatoes) entrees(Jambalaya and crawfish grits) dessert (bread pudding beignet) drinks(debbitaunt, mint julep) just stick with those recommendations I promise it's amazing!
Sandra Thompson
Absolutely amazing Crawfish and Grits. The flavours were incredible - this is a dish that will stay with me. Recommended!!
Randy Frehill
Great service, knowledgeable staff, good food n local beer
Ms 6iXx
Very nice spot. Great service. Flavorful dishes.
Taylor Wilkin
Great food, great staff. They love their jobs and have fun. When they found out I had never tried a Shirley temple they made sure I didn’t leave without trying one! Try this place out!
David Goodrich
Service was amazing and the food was very tasty. I had the Alligator Creole style, it is spicy but don't expect it to be too spicy. Okra bites were also really good. I will be back for the sausage sampler. Highly recommend...better than Mother's in my opinion.
Jim T
Tasty dinner! Had the red beans and rice to celebrate our trip into the south.
william wesson
Excellent! The resturant staff was amazing...small busy little place. Sat at the bar but got good service and the food was wonderful. Absolutely would come again.
Jessica Helms
Had the chicken & sausage jambalaya & it was amazing. First trying jambalaya & I'm glad this was it. Sat outside in the courtyard. Staff was very friendly & food came out quick.
Brookley Gonzalez
Eric was the best waiter, hands down. He made our anniversary dinner amazing. The food was really good too. The bread pudding beignets are to die for.
jenna nieto
We were referred to this gem by Lyn a local Bartender and I couldn't have been more pleased with her recommendation. We arrived as a party of 11 so they immediately adjusted tables to suit our needs. The food and customer service superceded our expectations and the ates were well portioned. They don't allow you to split the check so figuring out the bill was a bit confusing but all in all this place is perfect.
Tiffany Hammond
The service was great!!! The food was amazing!!! OMG I love this place...
Gavin Perkins
Had a wonderful time here! The food is great, the drinks are flowing, and Beth is the GOAT! Definitely a good time for brunch and would come back again.
Alexandra L
Tasty pan perdue & best bloody Mary's we had in New Orleans
Serene Tay
I had the Crawfish and Grits - thought the sauce was too heavy on the (what tasted like cheddar) cheese. I'd also expected more of a seafood flavour in the sauce. Overall the dish got quite cloying and one-dimensional after a while. Great service and atmosphere. They also have a happy hour from 4-7pm weekdays and a singer on Saturday nights.
Ohad Orpaz
Great food! Great beer! Nice atmosphere 🍻 …
Arlene Nimtz
Wonderful outdoor seating and tasty bottomless mimosas...Highly recommend the Fried chicken and biscuit...also enjoyed the glass of sweet tea. Great atmosphere for lunch.
Chris Faulk
We stopped in for drinks and an appetizer.
We came here a year ago for my birthday during a walking tour and came back again for our one year anniversary.
Great spot to rest and grab a drink. 👍🏻😉
Taylor Rebhan
Quiet and friendly place with conversational staff. Dropped in for a drink and apps at the bar. Bartender had insightful local beer reco for my girlfriend and she loved it. Fried okra was fantastic, and the Fried Green Tomatoes with Crab Salsa was the best thing I ate on our trip. Couldn’t believe our luck that this was right across the street from our hotel. Only regret was that we couldn’t make it back for dinner. Highly recommend.
Adam Shed
We go here every time we go to NOLA now. We actually go here if we go anywhere in NOLA.
true
Etouffee was great: they do a thicker version. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the food fresh.
Emily Wilkins
The food was wonderful, however the place itself and the service were just "okay". We sat outside in the courtyard, which was lovely, but it was very quiet...almost uncomfortably quiet. Could have used some music to make it a little cozier. Our waiter was nice but kind of slow, and not very attentive even though there was hardly anyone else there. I would eat there again if they improved their service and added a sound system or had live music. We ate there because of its proximity to the House of Blues, and I would recommend it as a nice before-show dinner.
Steven Rogus
Can't vouch for the food, but the drinks are fantastic. Randall the bartend clearly cares deeply about his craft and it pays off. The vieux carrie is extremely refreshing and deceptively strong. Highly recommend. The debutante is also great, as is the strawberry lemonade, but honestly I doubt you could miss at this bar. The emphasis is on doing things well not on slinging drinks from the well. If you have the chance stop by this place.
Shauna Frederick
Love love love this restuarant, as a local I try to keep myself on Decatur and Royal, while catching an occasional cocktail on bourbon. This place was exactly what I was looking for, we sat out in the courtyard while our charming server Asa brought us cocktails. I highly recommend the bacon wrapped shrimp for dinner but my husband's blackened redfish was also very good. Overall A+, we will return.
Philip St. Jacques
Crawfish and grits...all...you...need...to...know. If Randall is in the kitchen, say hello like you've known him forever just to mess with him.
rlc
Soooo yummy. Wandering around looking for a place to brunch- there she was like a beacon of Hope- Evangeline. Zero wait (super uncommon, date smiled on us), friendly staff and SUPERB meal. Pan Perdu on the brunch menu is a must, seriously, I’m still thinking about it. Crawfish and grits was completely delectable. Go here.

Alligator, red beans and rice, jambalaya, and gumbo were all delicious! We'd never had any of them before and were pleasantly surprised.
Atmosphere and staff were great. Very nice place for a relaxing dinner.
Steven Butler
Everything we tried was wonderful….this includes 2 appetizers, 4 entrees, beverages, and 4 different desserts. Waitress Nani was the best we’ve had in our entire 2-week vacation through the southwest United States.
Sarah Bersch
Beth is the absolute best, the crawfish etoufee will change your life. Fresh shucked oysters are to die for, great place to stop for local seafood and delicious plates.
Ruta Bhat
Had the best time at Evangeline! Beth was super funny and she really took care of us! She’s the best! Food was amazing!
angela Keller
Oysters were bomb, drinks were fabulous. Randall and Rich were great bartenders, they really know mixology! Dinner was ehh, I think they're going through kitchen staff issues. Work in progress. That doesn't discount Evangeline. Good luck on your kitchen progress!
Caleb Hunter
Good drinks! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. They seem to have been there to a long time. I really loved my drink. To me, it seemed like it was catering more to tourists than to the locals. I wanted a more authentic experience, and I feel like some of the bars on Frenchmen Street give you that experience.
Stephen Parkes
Really enjoyed this place. Really nice staff/venue and food was great. I had the blackened bologna sandwich and it was really special. An exquisitely crafted affair, both in taste and structure. I followed up with the Decatur Ave Sundae, which is bonkers (look it up) but delicious. I felt it could benefit from another couple of scoops of ice cream (more like a cocktail than a dessert as it is) but our waitress was more than happy to oblige and the end result was a triumph. I would recommend unreservedly.
Jared Benson
Evangeline has all the charm of a hole in the wall with good, simple, cajun food. To my surprise it was quiiiiiiet on a Sunday night, but that could be due to covid. Staff were professional and accommodating. I actually have nothing negative to say about the restaurant. It was quiet, had that fancy but not snobby rough brick, dimly lit interior and *felt* expensive despite its moderate prices. I really enjoyed that they had bar space, dining space, and a deceptively large outdoor space. It just wasn't... special? There was no mood in the place. No firm culture. It felt like a run of the mill joint. I enjoyed it but it was missing something I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe it was the lack of energy that I expected to see and didn't from the customers. No complaints though, not real ones anyway. Enjoy your time there!
Jessica Ford
We were in town at a very busy time looking for a place to eat. We came across this place and it was quaint and the service was the bomb. They treated us so well and we had a stroller and 3 kids. Our server was sweet and gave great recommendations. To drink I had the French 75. Delicious! Alligator tail was so good and my shrimp po boy was yummy!
Sergio Gonzalez
From the amazing, friendly and welcoming staff to the delicious brunch, Evangeline is a place that you don't want to miss!
Get the hangover poor boy and the crawfish shrimp and grits.
Morgan Harris
We were looking for a lunch place where we didn't have to wait in line and found Evangeline. The food didn't blow me away but the service was amazing! Our waiter had a fun personality and they made us feel very welcomed. That plus the Halloween decorations made for a very festive brunch.
Michael Z
Beth made the night one to remember for my wife's birthday. Food was excellent, amd drinks were strong, but we would go back just for Beth. Outstanding place to go for a night out...
Robert Rosenthal
Stopped in here for a quick drink and no food. We sat at the bar. My son ordered a cocktail and I had a bourbon. If you order the right bourbon, neat, you can't really screw it up. Jon said his cocktail was excellent.
I have to give kudos to the bartender. The bar was fairly busy and she was the only one back there. She was able to keep up with everyone and still find time to talk with us. While we didn't order any food, I think next time we're down in NOLA, I will make it a point to try them for a meal. (That is, in addition to drinks.)
Courtney H
I was blown away with the service, food, and atmosphere at Evangeline. I made a special reservation for a bachelorette dinner for my best friend and our friends (10 people total) in their outdoor courtyard. The outdoor courtyard was private with exposed brick and twinkle lights- perfect for a romantic and fun occasion with plenty of room for all of us and other tables comfortably. The staff had our table ready on time, kindly greeted us, and brought us drinks right away. They gave us complimentary shots to start as well! The food was very authentic to New Orleans and delicious. By the end of the night, the owner came out to make sure everything was great and even gave us bottles of champagne to toast. My best friend told me it was "the best dinner she ever had because they made her feel so special" and made sure everything was wonderful! Huge thank you to the owner and staff for making this such a memorable experience for all of us. We can't wait to come back!
Mallory Highstein
The food was absolutely delicious! I had the crayfish etouffe, which was very good. The service was very slow though. They didn't even refill the water for the entire meal.
Cristine Peck
I had red beans and rice because I am allergic to shellfish but it was the best meal I had in New Orleans! The fried green tomatoes were awesome!
David Goold
Good brunch spot bottles Bloody Mary’s to keep your hangover at bay
Denis Gribincea
Definitely the best crawfish(/shrimp)&grits we’ve had in New Orleans. Well priced, amazing atmosphere, wonderful service, great food.
Mary Garden
It was late afternoon and noticing a small restaurant across the street from our hotel, walked right in. Evangeline has a warm, intimate atmosphere – the bar is beautiful.and staff is welcoming and friendly. My husband said the crawfish etoufee was the best he’s ever had! My cousin from CA tried her first fried okra with remoulade and loved it. The food is awesome - everything home made - and the bartender knows his business - I ordered a French 75, my cousin opted for the rum punch and my husband a local beer. So good we ordered 2 of them! Our server was ASA! He was fabulous. So much fun and friendly, yet highly professional. He surprised us with festive New Orleans necklaces and even took me outside to give me directions. He made our experience so much fun. We loved Evangeline. You should go!
Nicholas Riggins
My wife and I had a great time there last night before we fly home today. Both meals were delicious. She had the 8 oz fillet and i had the special which was blacked red fish. Both meals came with garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed purple cabbage. We sat at the bar and had fun conversations with Raymond, the bartender. We'll be back later this year and will find our way to Evangeline again!
Olive Juice
The crab cakes are out of this world! They normally don't serve them until 3 but the chef made them fresh for me at 11:30 on a Saturday. They were perfect with my bottomless mimosa :) Richie, our bartender, was super nice. We will be back!
Connie Scott (LaboricuaenDFW)
The food was just ok.
Crab cakes were served tepid. The Bloody Mary was delicious. Outdoor seating is available.
Lurah Todosciuk
YES!!!! Just, YES! We stumbled upon it for brunch after deciding not to wait 3 hours for the Ruby Slipper. Their bottomless bloody Mary and their crab cake eggs Benedict caught my eye and oh am I glad it did!! The server was so friendly and told us some fun facts about the bar, it used to be a horse barn for the fire station, and answered all of our menu questions with a smile and his personal reviews of the items. It was the best place we ate the whole time we were in town! I highly recommend it!! I can't wait to go back!! Great food, friendly staff, and an fun, cozy, local-feeling environment.
Alexander Campbell
Great alligator creole, gumbo, and crayfish etouffe. Terrific customer service. Would definitely eat there again.
Chance Alexander
Not a huge muffuletta fan but this one was excellent
Michael Nuessle
I live 2000 miles away and every time we come to NOLA, 2 or 3 times a year, evangeline is a must. Not sure whats better, the staff or the food, both amazing!! Cant wait to come back for years to come.
James Whittingham
Had brunch here today with my family. Five Stars! Great service, great menu choices, central location, friendly atmosphere. Best crab cakes I have ever had. The rest of my family's choices from the menu were also great. Will definitely come back here. Thank you!
Candice Johnston
This place is wonderful! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had the Crawfish and grits and can't wait to go back!
Matthew Jones
Food was delicious, we each ordered a different meal and had to sample everyone else's - everything was great. The back courtyard eating area offered a nice quiet place away from the business of the main Street. Highly recommend.
Randolph Fuerst
We had an outstanding dinner and wait staff experience. The crayfish and grits was excellent as was the shrimp pasta.
David H was very friendly offering good advice on menu items to choose.
Melissa
I made a reservation for a party of 25 about 6 weeks ago for our bachelor/bachelorette party - it ended up being 18 people and I communicated that to the event manager a week prior to the event. First, a no point did the event manager tell me that seating would be outside. It's HOT in August. If I had known it was outside, I would have made reservations elsewhere. Where would we have been seated if it had rained?! Secondly, it took almost hour just to get water. Third, the server spilled hot gumbo on one of my guests and didn't even apologize. Fourth, I ate my appetizer but had to cancel my meal because I was so overheated. Fifth, at the two-hour mark, many of our guests still hadn't been served and most of the food that had been served was cold - they also brought food to the table that wasn't even ordered. It was a total train wreck. Luckily, some people in my party spoke with management and they took care of it (thank you for that). The few people who were served hot food did say the food was very good so that's the reason for anything other than one star. As I was leaving, someone did apologize to me directly and I appreciated that. She was very kind. Some of my guests drove over 500 miles to get there and I was more sad than mad at the situation. A word of advice: If you aren't able to comfortably and efficiently accommodate the number of customers who are requesting service, please be honest and convey that. There is no absolutely shame in turning someone away if the venue isn't large enough to host that many people.
Jennifer Farrington (BayouJenny)
I was there with a party of about 16. We were there about an hour and a half before we started getting our food. It was probably over 2 hours before everyone was served.
There was a football game and an event going on so downtown was busy. The food was great though. I didn't hear anyone complain about the food itself. They just need to get it together better and faster during busy times.
Reyne Terrebonne
Such a cool place! The interior and ambience is incredible, the food and drinks were outstanding and the servers were friendly, inviting and attentive. I tried the sweet potato fries with remoulade sauce and the Nola House salad with chicken. Both delicious! We visited for a Bachelorette party and they didn't skip a beat with our big group. They also let us do separate checks which was great. Also had a small jazz set playing Christmas tunes and it added to the great atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
Travis Tweed (BigTweed)
Absolutely a great place. Get the crab cakes. BBQ is very good. Jambalaya is awesome.
You really can't go wrong here. The waiter was very nice and prompt. If your going late a reservation would be recommended especially if you want to sit outside. Inside or out it is a nice place to eat.
Kate Ramey
Great food, great atmosphere, and great employees! My husband and I stopped here on our first night in New Orleans (our first stop altogether) to grab a drink and get our bearings. We ended up staying for 2 hours, drinking, having a quick bite to eat, and chatting with Brent (the awesome bartender) and some of the friendly servers. They have a good happy hour from 3-6 with drink specials and snacks/small plates. We had the catfish tacos and the nachos (which were awesome!). The nachos were on Zapp’s chips instead of tortilla chips, with cheese sauce, pulled pork bbq, jalapeños, etc. YUMMY!! I recommend checking them out!!
George Zimmerman
Great food and super nice people. The crawfish etouffée was so good.
Andrew F
Nice courtyard. the etouffee was one of the best dishes I've had, I still remember it two years later.
Doris Munoz
We took a chance and popped in for a cocktail yesterday. We had an amazing experience, met the owner he was amazing Thank You for the shirts!!, super nice and friendly bartender, excellent Cajun nachos and fried okra was amazing!! Also me the pub crawl your guide. You definitely need to go to Evangeline's!! Gonna go back again before we leave New Irleans!😀
Jessica Whyrick
Brent was stellar. Loved our conversations
Alyssa Smith
This place was amazing! It was our favorite meal in New Orleans. We went for brunch. The cajun fried chicken on biscuits with alligator sausage gravy was absolutely amazing!! This is the place we will recommend anyone we know going to New Orleans to try out. Plus the atmosphere was so relaxed and the decor was beautiful.
Charles Feinberg
When entering Evangeline we felt that we were back in Paris in a small intimate bistro but the food is pure NOLA. First of all out waitress was so knowledgeable we felt that she had just cooked all of our dishes. She could break down each and every selection and answer all of our questions. We had the following.
Crab Cakes
2 Louisiana Blue crab cakes, sautéed in butter, w/remoulade sauce.
Crawfish Etouffee
Louisiana Crawfish simmered in a rich New Orleans style sauce served over steamed rice.
CHICKEN AND SAUSAGE JAMBALAYA
Chicken and Louisiana sausage cooked in house made stock served over rice.
Mykelanne Tharp
The best food I’ve ever had! The staff is so amazing and treat you like family.
Kevin Oaks
By far the best food and service I’ve had in New Orleans. Visited once for dinner and again for brunch. For foodies, it’s the beast off the beaten path restaurant on the beaten path.
Marissa Fisher
Delicious southern food, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful courtyard patio. Overall would highly recommend!
Sarah Hadi
I’m not exaggerating when I say I had one of, if not THE best meal of my life here. My sister and I stopped in after a ghost tour of the city and sat at the bar, where the bartender (don’t remember his name but he had long hair pulled back) made us feel right at home.
We ordered the gumbo, jambalaya, red beans and rice, and fried okra, and topped it all off with the bread pudding beignets. The food was piping hot, perfectly flavorful, and really hit the spot. We couldn’t stop taking turns telling each other how happy we were. Hands down the best place for real creole/Cajun food and friendly service. Will absolutely be back before our trip is over.
Sherri Powell
Stopped here without a reservation they accommodated with a great table on the back patio. All the food was great. Save room for the dessert.
Amelia Pushelberg
We went for an early dinner around 4:30 on a Sunday and it wasn’t too busy (as expected). The waitstaff were attentive and quick and let us know happy hour was going on so $3 for a selection of draft beers was awesome. We ordered the blackened fish tacos to start and they were pretty big so that was a nice surprise. During happy hour the tacos were $6 for two. Myself and my husband ordered the gator creole style which had a bit of a peppery kick to it and was delicious. I ordered the Acadia crawfish grits and it was to die for. The sauce was perfect and they don’t skimp out on the crawfish.
I highly recommend coming here as the food is unique and delicious. Try the crawfish grits as that’s their main speciality!
Jaret Boyles
Love this place. It's been there for years and the food is still some of the best. Small courtyard in the back is my favorite when it's not too hot outside. Somehow, it's never too busy when we go and we always get a table with little wait. Worth trying out!
Kat B
I LOVED the food here. We went here two times in less than a week, and I would go back in a heart beat. The staff were polite, prompt, and funny. The chef walked to our table and introduced himself. I was able to drink beer that I had not tried before. I would go back. All of the food we ate was delicious.
Kate Dare
Best food we have had since we got to New Orleans! The bacon wrapped shrimp were awesome and the pasta evangeline was amazing! The server was very attentive and made sure we were all set without hovering over us. If we ever make it back down from NH, we will definitely come back to this hidden New Orleans gem.
James Shewmake
Absolutely amazing. I was craving fried okra and this place came up in a foursquare article and boy did it deliver. My only complaint is that I wish I had ordered a double portion lol. I paired it with the crawfish and grits, which also delivered big on flavour and comfort food feel and I left much happier and sated than I have from eating anywhere else in town.
Rhiannon Zaker
Beth is amazing!! My birthday was absolutely amazing!! Food was 👍 great and oh my God. I would NEVER go anywhere else. Love you Beth 😍 …
Kyle Milbrand
We had great entrees that were unique. The fried green tomatoes are a fantastic starter. The service was efficient and extraordinarily friendly. It was a really nice dinner experience.
Sergio Otero
The restaurant serves great food and drinks. If you come here definitely try the sausage platter! The actual venue is cozy and nice. We didn't have a reservation and they were still open enough to accommodate us with us a table for 6 last minute. The staff however, are a bit slow.
Heather Robinson
I had the best meal I've ever had in New Orleans at Evangeline. It was the catch of the day, Red Snapper Courtbouillon. Delicious! I was there toward the end of the evening so the chef came out and spoke to me, which made my experience even more memorable. My waiter was Early (that's his name, not a description of his arrival) and he took excellent care of me. The other wait staff also greeted me and made me feel right at home. For dessert I had the Bread Pudding Beignet which was also wonderful. Evangeline will definitely be on my list of places to eat during future trips to New Orleans! Oh, by the way, sit in the courtyard if the weather is nice. It is a peaceful respite from the busy streets.
Stephen Bishop
Excellent food! Delicious desserts! Don't miss this hidden gem when visiting NOLA.
m r
Really loved this place. They were extremely accommodating with my gluten free allergy. The waiter was knowledgeable and kind, he gave great suggestions and all of the food was SO GOOD. Check it out! Pretty fairly priced as well.
Philip Wadlow
I got the red beans & rice, and it was excellent! Very nice people working there too.
Lisa Desrochers
Great food and friendly service. Love that they take reservations to avoid a long wait on weekends. Good menu selection.
Connor O'Brien
The hangover poor boy was the absolute perfect hangover breakfast food. Favorite food place I’ve been in New Orleans! Sat outside in a courtyard too.
Kayla Mullins
The only restaurant we made a second visit to on our NoLa vacation! Best alligator bites and crab cakes in town, great service, and a fantastic atmosphere whether inside at the bar or outside in the courtyard/patio.
Cynthia C
Great food and excellent service (Thank you Whitney!). Ordered the crawfish grits, bacon wrapped shrimp and fried alligator. All of it was on point. So glad I came here to end our last night in NOLA. Will definitely come back.
Leah Zahm
Great food and our server Beth made the experience exceptional! Good mimosas and the crawfish etoufee was the best!
Racheal Cooley
We came outta the impending downpour. Nothing but the bar was open. We were greeted immediately and met the owner and staff who sat us. We both ordered the streak and were under impressed. The cut wasn't our usual pick however the flavor delivered and the service was on Pointe. We will add this venue to our next visit. Check them out and enjoy!!
ryan
THIS IS THE SPOT, great food... great vibes, not expensive.
Go here if your not looking for a tourist trap
Recommended: fried tomatoes, gator bites, Po Boy, RED BEANS AND RICE
Aaron Stephan
Best place to eat!! Delicious food and salads are so flavorful. Best drinks. Bartender John can mix up drinks to pair with what you are eating for dessert. Best drink is called The Second Line! Try the bread pudding beignets! Great food and excellent service!! Must eat!
Bri McGeach
Great food! The Alligator Creole is one of the best Louisiana dishes I've ever tasted! Superb service - friendly, courteous and knowleagable. Now my go-to restaurant every time I'm in NO.
Van N
Such a cute & cozy little place. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very relaxed & homey. The food & drinks were very good & flavor. You should definitely try the crawfish & grits. The service was awesome - very friendly & attentive.
April S
Service was consistent, manager asked how food was.
We liked happy hour. Bigger alligator pieces would've been nice since menu is pretty pricey.
Diana O'Gilvie
Great romantic story behind the restaurant. Dessert was the best part of my meal.
Brandon Z James
So amazing, the staff was welcoming and the food was delicious.
t s
Came here for a joint bachelor / bachelorette party! Beth took amazing care of the group and the food was the best we had in NOLA.
Melanie Paolucci
Hit and miss but not too bad. I would go back.
Elizabeth Thelen
Atmosphere, service and cleanliness - top shelf. Really good food especially for French Quarter Festival menu. Husband enjoyed their Irish stout. Waiter was a pro.
Maximillian Molina
Amazing food. First time I tried crawfish etouffee and it was perfect right amount of spice and you got a bit of crawfish in every bite.
Adrienne .Storrs
Phenomenal food and service. Beth is an exceptional server - super efficient and joyful! I would come back again just to hang out with Beth :)
Annie Bryan
Great location. Loved the bar and the terrace out back. Red beans and rice were the best we had during our week long stay. Nice Pims cocktail too
Kaitlin Morton
Such tasty food!! Will definitely be back next time I’m in New Orleans
Lisa Fucci
I got jumbo Blue Crab Cakes and they very good. They used panko bread crumbs instead of traditional bread crumbs. These Blue Crab Cakes were not to spicy. The finishing sauce was slightly spicy flavor drizzled over the Blue Crab Cakes.
Dennis Moore
A nice, simple restaurant in the French Quarter. We are outdoors, which was very nice. Juliette was wonderful, as was the food.
Elliott Skeer
3 of us went, ordered 3 different meals, and all 3 are some of the greatest things we’ve ever eaten. Lance will make the greatest shrimp and gits you have ever had in your life. Gill will be the greatest waiter you will ever have. I will return to Nola purely for this place.
Zack Curvin
Wonderful food and great service!
Tulio Otero
The food and service was wonderful! I love that we were not rushed to clear the table. It was a very rainy evening and people were piling in. The waitress allowed my mother and I to just stay and enjoy the wonderful dinner music being played live.
Bill C
Great place for a cocktail. Bartender was extremely nice
Olivia Jenkins
So0o good!! We got the bacon wrapped shrimp and the crawfish and grits. Very flavorful. Every server in ear shot was hospitable and kind.
anna fazekas
Absolutely amazing crawfish etoufee!!!!!! Excellent atmosphere and service. Highly recommended!!!
Angel Reams
This experience was the epitome of New Orleans Class with a Cajun twist. Our server Jared was absolutely amazing and attentive without hovering over us. Our food was amazing and fresh. I would absolutely recommend any day of the week.
Bc Costanzo
Lovely restaurant. Nice bartenders. Good food & make sure you say hello to Gabriel. He might just let you take a photo with him!
Adam Marcum
Great cozy restaurant. Food was great so was the service. We came at the end of the night and they had one table left that the host was nice enough to give us.
Jeremy Bersch
Beth is da bomb. Raw oysters were shucked perfectly. Crawfish etoufee was AMAZING!
Jorge Valle
Lovely small restaurant with engaged staff and amazing Creole food. Best jambalaya we've EVER had. Desserts were great too. This is now our place in NOLA forever!
Jeremy Jameson
Evangeline's is a hidden gem in the Quarter. It's refreshing to find a restaurant that isn't owned by the Creole Cuisine company. The head chef is a protoge of Chef Paul Proudhomme and the food and service is fantastic every time. I have never left here less than satisfied. The best gator on Decatur!
Ryan Mallory
Just had cocktails. Nice atmosphere and the servers were chill. It smelled good so I’m assuming the food is good. But you know what happens when you assume.
John Zeron
Quaint place with great food and service. Ask to be served by James. The is an old BBQ pit in the courtyard. Don't you think that would superb opened up with a gas fireplace inside? I would even fly down to install it.
Sherri Miller
This is a gem of a restaurant. Lovely courtyard and fantastic food. Nick was an amazing server with great recommendations. I had the crawfish and grits and it was delicious!
Jackie Fernandez
The service here was amazing, Nick is probably the best waiter we’ve ever had and the server next to us seemed just as good. The crawfish pasta is a must. I would highly recommend it!
KC Larson
Excellent food and cold cocktails. The staff was fun and every meal I've had here has been great.
Brian Markus
Great place, awesome food, and friendly service.
Kathryn Kauffman
Beautifully Crafted Food. Stunning menu items to choose from. These sausages with the mustard cream gravy were mouth watering savory and smooth.
The crab cakes are Fresh and crispy sauteed in butter. The Etouffee is also made from scratch....and you can certainly tell! Our bar man/server was Amazing Thank you Craig💞 for your most excellent recommendations.

Excellent food and service. Best bees knees cocktail I've ever had. Delicious red beans and rice, catfish tacos, gumbo and ettoufe. Loved it all!
Kasey Feverjean
The grilled oysters and gumbo are the best I've ever had.
E A
Drinks 10/10 drink prices 10/10
Bartenders 10/10
Taco Tuesday 0/10 you pay $3 for horrific tacos, the shells ruin the whole thing. Either change the shell and charge $3 or make the tacos $1 to justify the heart burn.
Anthony Oliver
Stopped here for lunch, shared with my wife: shrimp pasta, red beans and rice, and sweet potato frites. Everything was good, only complaint is it took a long time to get food (1hr+). Nice little courtyard we ate in.
Luke
Friendly service and a fun, warm atmosphere. Good place for happy hour drinks. While it was too cold and wet for the courtyard on the night we were there, it looks like it would be a nice place if the weather was warmer.
Cierra Rich
Definitely underrated and tucked away but don't let that fool you... we. had the beignet bread pudding, crawfish and grits, and fried green tomatoes... EVERYTHING was absolutely amazing and Patti was great.. I'd definitely eat there again
William Wright
Awesome place!!! Great happy hour and the bartender was spot on. Great local establishment!!
Scott Irelan
Great place for dinner or dessert. Try the bread pudding benignets.
JM “Impossible Traveler” Torp
Service was fabulous, drinks excellent and food delicious!
Loved the one appetizer the three different types of sausages.
TTphilos
A gem of quality. Amid a downtown full of standard bars with loud TVs offering what they think tourists want, this place offers a an atmosphere of community and conversation over absolutely delicious, original recipes, livened by a true artist of a cocktail mixologist. Get the crawfish and grits, my gawd it's good!
Andrii Yeromenko
Really lovely place with a courtyard and bottomless mimosas:)
If you come at 10 am there is NO Line!
April is a great hostess;)
Brian Policarpio
Service was phenomenal..food was insanely good...the orange duck and turtle soup.....*chef's kiss*
Kevin Bladsacker
They don't get anywhere near the number of locals they deserve. The prices are right in the normal range for casual dining in this market, and there is a more Acadian lean to the menu than Creole. Keep in mind, this is not a "Cajun" restaurant in the touristy sense. It's a mixture of Acadian traditions and innovation from an actual chef, not a corporate board.
Mackenzie Greene
Great food and easily sharable! Recommend going it family style so you can try multiple things. Highly recommend the gator and fried okra appetizers!!
Emery Simko
TLDR; eat here. Currently a lil tipsy from the bottomless mimosas, but this place blew me away. As residents, we still find ourselves stopping at random restaurants in the Quarter and Evangeline was today's. I had the most amazing duck benedict style dish, and my wife devoured the bourbon maple syrup French toast. Bread pudding beignets were absolutely superb and Jessie was a wonderful waiteress.
Michelle haas
Visited from Seattle. This place is on point! Great food! We had the pasta and had the fried alagator. A must have. The waitress, Pat was so sweet and attentive. I will come back again for sure!!!
Janet Sparks
Love the atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Just a cool place!
John Lafitte
The crawfish and grits I got were pretty good, but it seemed a bit overpriced. My friend ordered crawfish etouffee and it looked more like a creole with tomatoes. Maybe that's they way they do it here, but it wasn't to his liking.
Charles Rouse
Excellent EVERYTHING!!!! from the Fresh Catch (blackened redfish) to the bacon wrapped ship and the Ribs. And that bread pudding beignet though....... wow! To top it off Pat was the best server ever.. (go with her Recommendation) The Bomb...her words!!! Owners were on site and eager hear our thoughts..stop looking and go eat here! Our group was from Fl. To California..all happy..
James Layton
Was in NoLa for my honeymoon and this was one of my favorite stops. Great craft cocktails and amazing happy hour food. Also my favorite gumbo of the 20 or so I tried while in New Orleans.
Thomas Santone
We did not eat, but the bar is top notch with excellent bar tenders. Great drinks and great service. Friendly staff.
Mckay Rogers
Delicious food on the brunch menu. Very friendly waiters. Excellent restaurant atmosphere. Reasonable prices.
John Hanson
Delicious food! Lots of gluten friendly options. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a reasonably priced meal that is classier than the typical tourist trap Cajun restaurant.
Tamara Grossutti
A perfect escape from the busy streets, with a lovely courtyard area. Food and drinks were delicious. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Highly recommended as an alternative to the typical French Quarter spots.
Katie Peters
It was pretty good, but not great. The service was wonderful, but at the time I was only one of 4 people there. The food was good, but way over priced. The specialty drink I got was an absolute rip off. I don't think there was even a drop of alcohol in it.
William Bruton
Very nice courtyard atmosphere and service. The food was priced well for the quality and it was very good. Great menu for sampling cajun food. I like the lesser known eateries in New Orleans.
CherokeePola Lewis
Average tasting Food 3 stars. Our Server Jamel was Great 5 Stars. ( I hope I spelled his name right)
Alissa Powers
This place was great. The food was excellent and the wait staff was so friendly and helpful. If you are a foodie, you should go here. It is a small space so don't go with a big party.
Mariel S
The crawfish & grits and the jambalaya were fantastic! And the courtyard is such a nice option to eat outside! Loved this place!
Jose Trejo
Mediocre food. Nice inside courtyard seating.
kirbdoc
Seated quickly. Service was excellent. Had the crawfish and grits, alligator etouffe, and bread pudding beignets for desert. All great. Would definitely recommend.
Daniel Mandli
Great food and atmosphere. Loved eating out in the courtyard and our party enjoyed the evening immensely.
Reasonably priced and very nice service. Will definitely return.
Dee M
Food was delicious!! Great customer service. The backyard is a plus. Definitely reccomend seating there to eat
Jilian l
I had the fried chicken and biscuits here. It was amazing. The place was nice and staff was polite. The coffee and bloodymarys were great too.
Larry Westcott
Nice little place. Good food and some strong drinks. Nick was great server...
Sit outside in there back courtyard to enjoy the eve...
Lindsey Caillouet
Food was delicious and the servers were great! Also found a drink I really liked
Angie Perrin
I just love this place's sweet potato fries. I'm telling ya, get it with the remoulade sauce bruh! Happy hour is only like $5 or $6! Also, staff is so friendly and accommodating.

Wonderful staff and food. Went in for brunch and bottomless mimosas. The alligator waffle was amazing definitely worth checking out

Don't miss spending a cpl hrs (or days) here while in town. Everything here is top shelf...food, beer, staff etc! We were treated like family from the very beginning. This place is the reason we'll be coming back to Nola.

An excellent place to hangout when in New Orleans taking a walk through the French Quarter. This place has great drinks and food. The courtyard/patio in the back of this bar is amazing!

Ease into the day with bottomless mimosas or another lovely well-blended cocktail and great food.

Shrip etoufee was delish, gumbo was also very good but had more of a beef flavor tgan i expected - but still very good.
Miranda McGrew
The gumbo was just rice and sausage - so plain. Wanted my 1st time trying gumbo to be an amazing delicious experience but meh.

Ambiance is amazing on the back patio. Always stellar food. Crawfish and grits is a great Louisiana take on a southern traditional dish.
Lily Davidson
The food was amazing, the staff was super friendly, and the atmosphere was super cool. I would recommend sitting outside when it’s nice because the courtyard is super cute. 10/10 would recommend!

An event was held here and it had a nice open air backyard and a good waitstaff and bartenders. I wouldn't mind going here again but probably wouldn't think of it right off the bat when thinking of and exceptional place to go or a place that's interesting or original to bring visitors or suggest to anyone asking for advice.

Pork sliders with homemade slaw and pickles yum yum!

Me & my friend had a wonderful experience thanks to our bartender Randall! I will be sure to stop by next time in NOLA! 👍🏾

Friendly pub/restaurant with a historic vibe. Drinks were awesome. The local punch was my favorite. Beautiful courtyard and better than average food.

I don't like shrimp but I loved their bacon wrapped shrimp. Nice little bar/diner with some great classic southern food in a slightly fancier layout.

Nice place for morning brunch...

For you first time Gumbo eaters,
this is not it! The roux is more like a broth and with too much rice, came off as bland. All I can say know is that this was way different than the last 40 cups of gumbo I have eaten.
However, they were featured on "Food Network." lol

Brunch was amazing, but it might have been the delicious Bloody Mary's talking... Either way the patio is nice and the staff were super friendly.

The dood and atmosphere is the best. Call ahead to make sure they have bologne. You would not want to miss the smoked bologne sandwich. The friend green tomatoes are the best ever.

The service was great and the spin on beignets was a welcome treat
