Reviews of Estrella Steak & Lobster
Calico Fox
The food is delicious, the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were super straight. If I had to point out my gripes, parking in the area is very bad, tho it is a block over from bourbon, and it was Halloween weekend, after a Saints home game win (honestly, that's just on us as tourists). And if you don't look for the restaurant, you would walk right past it, doesn't really have a "on the street presence", if that makes sense. But besides that, I highly recommend it. The NY strip and grilled shrimp was divine, compliments to the chef.
Highly recommend stopping by and getting a Surf and Turf.

I got the boudin eggs Benedict and OMG. SO GOOD! It came with grits that were also delicious! My boyfriend got an omelette he liked too! We stumbled upon this place and were so glad we did!

Food was delicious 😋. Service was good. We ordered the sampler with a side of fries and we're completely satisfied.
Michael Cruz
The service was amazing. Our server was great and always attentive and making sure we were ok. It was a Monday afternoon and it wasn’t crowded at all. I’m sure On weekends is a different story but it definitely worth any wait. We had a Whole lobster and the NY steak and it was delicious. Definitely will visit again on my next visit to NOLA.
Carrie VanCamp
It was the best lobster tail I have had in a long time. Staff was very personable and attentive. This is a small family owned restaurant. The owner was there and very friendly. We enjoyed ourselves immensely
Chuck Shubert
Had a wonderful meal here. A loaded omlet with grits for me and red beans n rice for B. Great service. I highly recommend checking this place out. 👍👍Went on Easter Sunday and was taken care of very nicely by Mandy! We live in the Warehouse District so you'll see us again soon! …

Amazing food. Worth every penny

Good food for a short wait!
I got the hangover coffee! Yum.

Absolutely lovely place to eat. If you want to experience the local scene and get some good mom & pop type of food with a homemade taste, this is it. This isn’t a big location, but everyone working here is overly friendly. The owner and head chef came out to check on my steak and make sure I was enjoying it. Great food, great environment. I would love to eat here again!
Pamela McCormack
Loved it! Just getting back from covid and since the food took awhile they covered our drinks! Not necessary cause everything was delicious and the staff was fun and friendly. Will return on our next visit for sure.
Rich Veale
Estella's has the best deal in the Quarter. 4-7 Early Bird Dinner for $19.95. Salad, entree and dessert. The steak is amazing and the Taste of New Orleans was on point! Our new 'must go to' place.
JB Courvoisier
We love searching for local "joints" that bring a home town flavor that is outside of the box of the chain restaurants. Sooooo, we found Estrella's on-line and walked to the establishment from our hotel. It is right passed the House of Blues and upon entry we were greeted by a friendly doorman and the most OUTSTANDING server ever! His name...Assante! My god he was probably the kindest, funniest and sincere waiter I have ever had. I like to highlight the staff, because they are the life blood of a eatery and will determine your overall experience.
With that said, the food was amazing! You must try the STAR-TINI and the Cucumber Lemonade. Upon tasting those drinks you will change your religion. Alas, the food, yes...the FOOD was exceptional. My steak was unreal! The fish dishes were incredible and the garlic-honey sauce concoction was absolutely delish! Oh, and DO NOT forget to order the bread pudding for desert.
There was a one man band, playing the flute, sax and singing. An older gentleman, who despite his age played some swanky tunes. The owner was in and checked on us and again it was Assante who made the evening. What a great introduction to New Orleans! Thank you.
Rachel Geerlings
Chris, the server was attentive and good. The Bloody Mary was great. The brunch ? Not so much. The poached egg was cooked straight through, on a very small and very burnt biscuit. Shrimp and grits was fine. It was fast and had good points (e.g. service and drinks) so giving 3 stars.
Selina Terry
I came here on my birthday, the Day after Mardi Gras and got the best service ever. The owner Amir was very welcoming to the point where I almost felt like I was in his home. The waitress Julia was so cool and she was from Michigan also so we really connected and she literally gave the best service ever. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Great food. Amazing vibes and I will definitely be back. Thank you for making my birthday special!
Mary H
On vacation with bf and his family. Looked around for a good steak place with prices that were not $$$ to $$$$. Found this little place on Decatur. Atmosphere was dark pub; lots of tvs with different shows; great drinks and great food! Our waiter, Chris, was fun and kept coming around to check on us and chat. Really left a fun impression; and great way to end the trip! If I’m ever back here, definitely coming back. -From Mary, the girl with the snazzy hat.
Jason Jonas
Oh my goodness - try this place. To us, it was a hidden gem. I hope the fantastic service, the great food, the bar selection and fair pricing is the same for you!!!!!
Brianna Lehmann
Our waiter was FANTASTIC! This was such an unassuming brunch spot. The food was some of the best we had while we were in New Orleans! Their biscuits were divine! I would definitely go back. Thank you for the jokes, great food, and wonderful service!
Paul Saxon
Everything was delicious. Great time. It's worth every penny. Thanks to Amer, for hosting us. Will defintly come back next year.
Bob Auer
Nice! Relaxing place to enjoy a great meal right on Decatur Street. Really large portions of well prepared dishes. We had the catfish platter and seafood platter... Excellent on both counts. Staff is very friendly and really make you feel welcome.
MJ C
The service was very good. The food was meh and the cocktails were very good. Nothing was seasoned well. The grits needed a few more minutes to be cooked. Overall just not great for the $$
Terri Austin
As I ventured away from the craziness and fun of Bourbon street during Mardi Gras, I stumbled upon the quaintness of Estrella. The service was impeccable and the crab cakes were delicious. My Margarita was mixed with perfection. Definitely a stop I’ll make again!
Brian Nevel
Great breakfast! Crab Cake Benedict was my choice and I wasn't wrong! Paired with a Bloody Mary and you're having a great time!
Erika Arrington
after reading the reviews, we were super nervous to eat here. but we figured why not? we were pretty impressed. the service wasnt all that great from our waitress but the food was good.
Betsy Thomas
Surprisingly the decoration is not pretty but the food is good and it's worth going here but make sure the bartender is making your drink and not the waitress then you will fully enjoy this place
Jim Acker
Food was excellent. Very polite staff. Nice jazz playing in the background. Nobody comes here, I want to keep this a private gem.... Just kidding...
Kim Bomar
Our waitress was the epitome of how to conduct oneself. On the ball yet not too much. Very kind and cordial.
Joann Hernandez
Just so happened to run into this place by accident and I can not say how awesome and good this place is. Hospitality is great and the food is even better. We came for brunch and will come back to try the night life. 😀 …
Britt Benoit
This place gave me some weird vibes but the shrimp and grits were pretty amazing! Eggs taste like wet dog
Anyta Cavitt
We wandered the French Quarter and found disappointment at many acclaimed
Crawfish places being “sold out” or not having any. However, when we found Estrella we were brilliantly surprised. The food was awesome and the staff and owner were instant family. We may not eat anywhere else the rest of the trip as we focused on the goal of crawfish tonight.
YXOR Mack
Our server Julie was personable and outstanding! We had the steak and it did not disappoint. Portion sizes were perfect and cooked exactly the way we liked. Little quaint restaurant off the best snd path and worth the walk 🥰 …
Charles Obermiller
Stopped in and had breakfast. Chris was very helpful. Food and drinks were great. One of the best Bloody Marys I have had.
Tuesday Nunes (Tuesy Tues)
I love the great food especially the bbq shrimp and if you dont know already.. its not really barbequed, its New Orleans style and in a yummy spicy sauce that you will want to dip the delicious garlic bread in. Great Steak, Lobster and really loved the Fettuccini Alfredo!
All of the staff is welcoming and takes real good care of you. I especially love the owner Amer, the bartender Lori, the waitress Carrie and the wonderful guys greeting at the door Mr. Bobby and Skeeter.
I will definitely be back!
Lisa Williams
What a great little place! We enjoyed brunch twice here this past weekend. Food and service was amazing. Will definitely be back!
Ronda Goldsmith
Glad we ended up at this restaurant. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but we were not disappointed. They ran out of lobster and fried oysters but the alternative was just as good. The French bread is so airy and light. Nothing I ever had before. NY strip, lobster tails, whipped potatoes and spinach and top it all off with bread pudding with a sazerac and old fashion. Julie was excellent. Thank you for an excellent time.
Laura Werneke
Arrived late in the evening and struck up a conversation with the owners who were just lovely. Ended up getting a crawfish boil to go and it was one of the best things we ate the whole trip. We will definitely visit again next time we are in town.
Mike
Randomly stopped in and was very pleasantly surprised to have a neat place, great service and an outstanding brunch. We had the Cajun omelette and the shrimp and grits. Cajun omelette was great and the shrimp and grits pretty good. Bloody Mary was excellent
Rich grodzielanek
Wife and I were out walking around snd decided to eat. Everything was reservation only and we stumbled upon this place. No wait, server (julia) was right there and food was awesome!
We're from by Philadelphia and I fish a lot but we don't have redfish (red drum). Saw it on the menu, redfish amer and had to try it. Awesome! My wife ordered the seared ahi was was amazing. If you've never had redfish....order it!
The establishment itself seems like a local bar, nothing fancy which is what we prefer. The layout makes it pretty spacious where people aren't on top of you. Bar and dining area. Another plus is that you don't get whacked over the head in price which seems to be a common thing down here.
Julia our server was awesome. Friendly and attentive. In a time where service seems to be less then desirable she delivered!
If you're in the area and looking to eat try this place out. Bar isn't fancy but food and service were amazing.
Chelsea Roe
Food was good, service was pretty good too. No wait. I would definitely go back
Deana Barajas
Wish I'd taken a picture, but I forgot. I had the best blackened redfish dish in town here earlier this week. I tried this dish all over town and Estrella made it the best. Ask about their off-menu kids menu! The cocktails are good and strong. 🍸🍹🥃 Seemed like they were coming down from a short staffed lunch rush, but we didn't mind. We were on vacation & everyone is short staffed these days.
Ashley Dupree
Unassuming but charming and really chill. We were in a hurry, and the food came out pretty quick, not to mention the drinks. We had samplers which were all really tasty. Our server, Eric, was nice and the entire staff gave off good vibes. Not sure what drove the mediocre reviews, but we had a delightful experience that was totally unexpected!
And the gumbo, yummm
Jennifer “Jenni” Mejia
The blackened ribeye was tender and very well seasoned. My husband enjoyed his Maine lobster, which was the special of the day. The service from Christopher was also excellent.
Timothy Fanning
Great dinner! Service was wonderful. Nice, quiet , family friendly atmosphere.
Krystina Steck
The BBQ shrimp was TO DIE FOR. We also got the red fish with a mushroom/crawfish cream sauce and the NY strip trio (which came with a crab cake and sausage). Both entrees came with a choice of a side and portion sizes were great! Our server and the rest of the staff were very nice and we only had to wait about 10-15 mins for a table without a reservation, which is hard to come by in the French Quarter. My only complaint would be that our appetizer and meals came out at the same time and it would have been nice to have a few minutes between courses to enjoy each one hot. Otherwise, we had a great experience and i would definitely recommend this "hidden gem."
Linda Delarosa-brantley
We had a great Steak dinner at a reasonable price. A must try. Everyone was so friendly, helpful, and great.
Dawn Sanchez
Giving three because the service great but the food was bland. Very bland. The sauteed fish was fried, not sauteed. Just so incredibly bland. I can't express how bland it was. Very disappointed
Taiylor Morgan
Great little restaurant! Tons of delicious food options, good drinks (some heavy pours! 😉) and amazing staff. Staffing was short but we waited and had a great experience with those that were here. It was so great talking with the owner, Amer, and Lilly and Amanda. We had so much fun for our whole meal! …
Doug Dillon
Had an excellent meal. The portions were the right size. The food was prepared and presented well. A little heavy on the drink pour but otherwise well above expectations.
Julie was a excellent waitress. Both friendly and attentive with a great smile.
Definitely out shown the other restaurants.
Joseln Jauregui
Erick, Julie and Sarah were all super friendly their attention on customer was on point. Food was delicious. Nice company while we sat at the bar for our trip back home.

Estrella Steakhouse and Seafood in on Decatur in New Orleans is underrated!!! This place has delicious food, a cool vibe in the atmosphere and the staff goes above and beyond to make your experience worthwhile! We had to wait awhile because they were busy and short staffed but IT WAS WELL WORTH THE WAIT!! Our food was cooked to perfection!!!! I prefer quality over quantity and Estrella serves it up very well!! The Redfish Amer , crab cakes, the best I’ve ever had, were lightly crispy on the outside but enough moisture on the inside! My husband’s steak was well done and tender without being dry! The blacken shrimp Alfredo was cooked to perfection! Our money was well spent here! Try Estrella Steakhouse and Seafood on Decatur! The best kept secret, not anymore!!! At the front Mr. George will greet and seat you! Our server, Kevin S. was the best, very attentive! The entire staff is Awesome and wonderful!!! We’ll be back!!

Business lunch and easily better than most downtown restaurants A+ Excellent
Richie McComas
This place had a great blackened redfish. The atmosphere was not too dark but relaxing. The staff was very friendly and explained the menu well. It is a bit off of the beaten path. My group recommends this restaurant.
Steven Fontenot
Fast friendly service even during Mardi Gras! I had the blackened steak and mashed taters. Steak cooked just right and potatoes were melt in ya mouth. Party of 6 all had cleaned plates. Would definitely recommend.
Jay McDevitt
Excellent service, thank you, Kayla! I forget which cocktail I ordered, but, whatever it was -- absolutely delicious!
Steak was very, very flavorful and tasty! The baked potato and Greek salad were also real tasty! Thanks!!
Patricia Hood
Three stars probably too much for our visit, but the steak we ordered tasted good, although had to return the steak to be cooked more as we ordered medium well to more on the well side..got medium, the baked potatoes were cold inside.I also inquired before ordering about the wine mushroom sauce to see if it had alot of mushrooms as thats what I was looking for and the waitress said well yeah its mushroom sauce. Well I literally had less then a table spoon of the sauce on my steak and two thin slices of mushrooms , which I asked the waitress if I could get more mushrooms in my sauce when they cook the streak more and get us hot potatoes, I mean come on, its an extra charge as it is. She basically non challantly is like ok I guess.as if my concerns are not something she cares to do something about.
I get the steak back cooked much better, but no new sauce let alone more mushrooms were put on, same two slices and baked potatoes looked microwaved as the toppings including sour cream were warm..no new potatoes..gross
Other then the steak had a good taste..experience was disappointing
Also it was interesting as all menus we looked at online, outside the door and in the restaurant didn't really match prices or items..very odd. The inside looked different then expected from pics online. We really wanted steak near our hotel thought wed try it out.
I guess I would just say go to a steakhouse over a bar/restaurant..Not worth close to $40, per steak for one side, old bread and then additional for water because they give you water bottles without letting you know thats the only water they serve, usually places automatically give you glasses of water so definitely a first for us
Jenny Pav
The BBQ shrimp and Boudin balls were excellent picks as appetizers. My husband and I shared the grilled red fish with crab on top, Lafitte. It was a fish dish that will bring me back!
Firecatcher3000
Had a nice french toast breakfast with pecans. Nice and simple
Eric Wilkins
The Redfish was sautéed perfectly and was fresh... covered in Mushroom sauce. The bartenders were super cool and I had a good time there my first time and first stop in NOLA.
Barry Patterson
Staff was super friendly and very personable. Like most places in New Orleans right now, they're a bit short-staffed due to the pandemic, but use a bit of patience and understanding and you'll have a great time. The food was excellent and the drinks were on point! I can't wait to come back!
Isabella Maly
Our waiter was super friendly! Food was great, so glad we stopped. I definitely recommend their blacked catfish po-boy.
JEFF HANSEN
Great food. Steak was perfect. Loaded potato 🥔 was delicious.
Micheal Hyde
A friend of ours picked a wonderful place tonight. To start with the food was amazing. Best steak I have ever had. From the atmosphere, to the owner, waitress, and even the host that sat us was great! Don't walk past this place. It's a Dimond in the rough! Of all the corporate business that made it though the mandates this little restaurant is holding it's OWN!
Eff Dee
We got a steak dinner, shrimp and chicken pasta. It was all pretty good. The price point was very nice, like $40 for the whole meal.
Steak was medium when I asked for rare. No big deal though. Also they didn't really put any salt/pepper on the steak or fries, so I had to shake salt on everything. But besides that, especially considering the price of the meal, we were quite pleased. Service was great, too. Waitress was very nice. So was the dude at the door that waved us in.
Stuart Allen
Found this place on our 2nd day in New Orleans.....fantastic staff with excellent service. The Lobster was cooked perfectly as was the steak. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone. If im ever back in New Orleans i will definately return here
Jennine Pastva
We came in here and I didn’t expect it to be as great of food as it is but the food was phenomenal
Justin McAlaster
If you are in New Orleans you must go to Estrella Steak and Lobster. The staff is super friendly and chill. The food was absolutely amazing. The ribeye was perfect. BBQ shrimp peel and eat was fresh and full of flavor. The beverages were mixed just right! This place is cozy and has a great relaxed atmosphere. Don't miss out on this great seafood cocktails and exceptional service.
Tine Karlsen
Did not expect a steak cooked to perfection but that’s what I got! With a side of nice, cold beer and charming and attentive service!
piyokolovesmusic
This restaurant is a hidden jewel. We tried gumbo at every restaurant we ate on our trip to New Orleans and theirs was the best! Also their barbecued shrimps were so fresh and delicious!! And Reasonably priced compared with other places!
Kim Henry
Best food in NOLA. Everyone says “Hole in the wall serves the best food” and this is the hole in the wall you’re looking for!! Best BBQ Shrimp and Grits, Bloody Mary’s are awesome, amazing biscuits, BLT with the entire pig as bacon! Recommend. You won’t be disappointed. Worth any and all wait!
Tyler Decker
Food was great and the staff was wonderful re: our unexpected large group
Habiba
We waited quite a bit for our meals but it was worth it. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We did not order seafood ourselves but we saw other people do and I can attest to the fact that when they say it is fresh, it really is. They had a one-man band who played all kinds of different tunes and was entertaining to watch. The staff was great the whole time.
Kami Danna
I’m from Nola, so take that as it is.
We ate here for lunch on a Sunday for my Dad’s birthday. (They stop serving brunch at noon on Sunday. I think that’s worth noting.)
My sister ordered a mojito. The soda water was flat, so we asked for it to be remade. The server was efficient and friendly.
I ordered the crab cakes app and the sautéed spinach side as my meal. The crab cakes were homemade and delicious. The crawfish cream sauce was good. The sautéed spinach was so tasty! Had some minced garlic mixed in. Yum!
My mom and sister shared the crab cake and shrimp fettuccine. The shrimp were big and tasted fresh. The crab cake was (same as from my meal) homemade and tasty. The cream sauce was really good; lemony and almost refreshing.
My dad had the classic burger. It was good, but not great. The burger patty was falling apart and the bacon didn’t seem to be cooked to order. He isn’t one to complain, but he also didn’t go on and on about how good it was. The sweet potato fries were yummy.
This part is what sealed the deal- our sweet server came and asked for my dad’s name. Then the owner came out with a slice of a cookies and cream cake type of dessert. The restaurant sang my dad happy birthday and the owner stayed and talked with us for a bit.
Overall, it was a good experience. We would go back. :)
Shelly Gantenbein
If I could change one thing about our trip it would be breakfast at this place. We wanted to try the Ruby Slipped but an hour and half wait was too long. This place was right across the street. I’m giving it a 3 for effort. Friendly staff, clean restaurant and the atmosphere was great but the food was a 2. I ordered Eggs Benedict and it was flat out disgusting. I took one bite and wanted to return it. The poached eggs were cooked solid and the sauce had some weird taste to it. the waitress didn’t even notice that nothing was eaten on my plate which is a nice way off saying, GROSS! My husband ordered a classic Fried eggs, bacon and toast and he was fine. Just not somewhere I would try again.
Sylounda Hill
Had breakfast. Seafood omlette with fried potatoes and biscuit. The omlette was ok, but the biscuit was not hot and potatoes was under cooked.
Sabrina Kateyez Mackinnon
The food and drinks were amazing. So worth every penny. Our server was great. The atmosphere was pleasant. The bar tender knows how to make a 🍸 🍹.
Shawn D
Thought this would be a nice restaurant to get some dinner at. The place is nice and the atmosphere is great. Had a older gentleman playing jazz. But I sensed a little sadness on his tunes, almost felt as if he was playing the blues.
Waitress was attentive and got our food and drinks in an timely manner. It wasn't busy in there when we were there. Food wasn't nothing to write home about. Could've got a better quality food for much less of the price. This is a one and done for me.
Anthony Wegleitner
Amazing food and great find. Best place we ate on vacation hands down.
Toi Curry
Celebrated mother's birthday here and the food was really good. I don't remember what I got but my mother got steak and loved it. She's really picky about her steak but had no complaints. We were the only ones there at the time and the staff was friendly and really funny. It's a little princy, but good.
Joe Sienkiewicz
Chicken Decatur and Shrimp and Grits were both awesome
Ruth Deaton
Overall, I would definitely eat there again!
The entrance and appearance are that it is just a hole in the wall. Although the decorations and furniture are nothing exciting, the dining area was clean.
We are here for lunch. The place only had maybe 5 tables occupied and a few at the bar. The one waiter was able to sufficiently serve everyone. He was lively, attentive, and gave advice about menu items.
We tried the "Taste of New Orleans" and a shrimp appetizer. The entire meal was excellent! What a delicious surprise for this hole in the wall. What a treat!
Paula Wallace
The food was excellent and so was the service. First walking in it didn't seem like were going to have much luck when we had to wait to be seated about 15 minutes and there were tables open. But everything was great and the music was so relaxing and enjoyable. Definitely will be going there again. Not the best looking or spotless place but it is a keeper!
Ryan Shillington
The food was amazing! The famous cheese fries and the Red Fish with cream sauce was perfectly cooked. This was also some of the best service I've had while in NOLA
Darla Rohrs
Loved the food. We got the ribeye and lobster. Can't remember server name, but he was great!!! 01-27-2022
It is a dive, but we enjoyed!
Shawn Banda
Great food and service was awesome!
They served our family from out of town of 12 and took great care of us and food was outstanding. Blackened chicken po boy was delicious. Thank you to our waitress Julie
April Jackson
Only stopped in for a drink. Staff was attentive and space was clean and fun.
Justin Johnson
Just left and I have to say I was impressed, best steak I've had in a while. Wife had the Blackened chicken it was excellent too. Will definitely add this place to the agenda next time we come to New Orleans!
Mama D
We stumbled across this simple yet welcoming little spot when the wait staff stopped and introduced themselves and showed us the menu. We had New Yorks with all the trim and it was a good meal and a good time! Dessert was peach cobbler...fantastic!!
Rachael Robinson
I read the reviews on here and I was skeptical about whether to go or not and I am so glad I did! We went in before 6 p.m. and there was a sign out front that said early bird specials. We were able to get a 16 ounce New York strip with a potato and a salad for $18 each! It also came with delicious bread pudding! This is a small hole in the wall but everything was cooked well. There was an older gentleman playing the saxophone, the flute, the keyboard and singing. He was a one-man band and it was beautiful! I would highly recommend this restaurant. The bread they bring you out of the beginning is phenomenal!
Jeremy NeVilles-Sorell
If there is a solo reason to stop here it's the bbq shrimp! Pop that head, saver the flavor, and sit back licking your fingers wondering if it gets better. It didn't, but that shrimp was a high bar to reach but it was good. The only knock was on cleanliness of the oily plates and silverware, but you could look at it like my friend who said "it's like a well seasoned grill, that's where the extra flavoring comes from!" :D We were there at lunch and there were only a couple other tables there so we got to visit with staff a little and I really enjoyed the personalities - if you don't know what the expression "good people" means stop here when it's not busy and you'll meet good people!!!
MEl
What a wonderful experience the music was amazing the food was delicious our waitress was so helpful.
If you are in New Orleans please stop and have a bite to eat here I highly recommend their lobster entrée!
Ruben Ramirez
Looked in yelp and Google for suggestions for places to eat. My friend and I were both craving steak, and Estrella had many good reviews. Unfortunately, we must not have picked a good night. I ordered a New York strip steak medium, and my friend ordered the prime rib medium rare. Both of our steaks were very well done, mine was borderline burnt. Definitely not worth the price. The service was good, but the food left much to be desired.
Mia Marie Simons
I've only ever gotten delivery. Everything is great except for the ordering times. I logged in at 5:00 and got told I couldn't get delivery until 7. I tried doing a pre-order but it wouldn't let me. I then tried to put my order right away at 6:05 but it still told me it was closed. I finally got my order accepted at 6:30, but waited another 45 minutes until my order was on its way. Despite all that, I wouldn't order from anyone else. Totally worth the wait... if you have an oven to warm it back up.
Visitivity Inc.
Great food, great service. Was worried at first about its rating but pleased with what we got.
Flor Gonzalez
Amazing food, it was all delicious. The service was just great too. They are very nice and always ready to help. I loved the music, he is an older gentleman, but the music was perfect and not loud, perfect ambiance for eating, talking and listen to great jazz music.
Doug McTighe
Gumbo could have been less runny. Service was great but the waitress needed help and got zero. Waited 25 minutes for drinks everytime we ordered them.
Nancy W
Natalie our waitress was fantastic! All staff were very friendly. I have extensive food allergies and they did an awesome job in meeting my very difficult needs. My steak was excellent! One of the only restaurants I was able to find one of the very few items I can eat.....sweet patato fries. We will be back!
Tania Maldonado
This place is wonderful. My husband took me there for my birthday. The crab cakes were great, and the steaks were even better. The waiter was really nice and funny. The had a guy playing live music with all kinds of instruments and he was funny. We love this place, and we told each other that this would be our special occasion place. We love it.
Peggy Scope
Delicious food and wonderful wait staff -- I believe her name was Tanisha! A great time!
Ron Sprinkle
The food was good. There was some sort of mix up with our order so our breakfast took a bit longer to get to us than expected, but our waitress Dana was extremely nice about it. She was great.

Bar tender brings all the vibes. Real friendly chap with a great sense of humor and good solid knowledge of New Orleans. We only had a couple drinks at the bar - so I cannot attest for the food, but the atmosphere with the team members was great to see! Always awesome to see a team work as a cohesive unit!
Matt Sanning
Great place to eat! Friendly attentive service. The caprese salad was made with fresh mozzarella and simply with basil, good tomatoes, and olive oil. The hamburger and fries were perfectly cooked and flavorful.
Jill Olson
Had a great dinner. Our steaks were done perfectly... ordered medium rare. Service was good... all staff were plesent and eager to please. An older gentleman provided live entertainment playing the saxaphone, flute and keyboard with just enough volume to add to a perfect dining experience.
caroline gaskin
Our dinner was wonderful. Amer was so inviting and such a light. The food was down right delicious and our waitress (Whos name I unfortunately did not catch) was efficient funny and overall amazing ! Thank you so much !
Will be coming back :)
Johnna Kay Ingalls
To call these the best drinks in New Orleans is too much of an understatement. There aren't enough words to describe our wonderful experience at Estrella! But, I will certainly tell you that we will not be back to New Orleans without visiting this beautiful place at last twice a trip. Amer was an absolute joy and runs a beautiful establishment with an atmosphere that is unmatched. The service was fast, gracious, interactive, and the highlight of our trip. Please go And try Kevin's Cucumber Basil Lemonade - it will change your life. (This coming from a cucumber hater.) The experience is unmatched and the people are to die for. Will always go back every single time. Thank you, Amer!
Jeff Wendover
Had the southern fried catfish, and was most excellent. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Atmosphere was very relaxing. Prices very reasonable. There was a good variety of steak and seafood on the menu.
Jose Magallanes
Very cozy place, great service, the food came out fast, and you won’t be waiting in line for an hour. This is a place where you want to come back enough times so they know your name.
Brent Rains
The waitress was very attentive and had great recommendations. Both the gumbo and etouffee were both very good. The New York strip was flavorful and well cooked, but it did have a few tough spots, which is the only reason I am giving four stars instead of five. The price was very reasonable, especially for New Orleans.
Amy Ravit Korin
Was starving after a day at Jazz Fest and tried our hand at Star Steak & Lobster despite the poor reviews. We called ahead and they had a 45 minute wait and when we got there they had one table on the sidewalk available so we snagged it. The fact that we didn't have to wait too long for dinner helped, but overall the lettuce/spinach was soggy in the salad and the burger I ordered was just ok. Did not go for either the steak or the lobster since we wanted a quicker meal. The owner waited on us and he was very pleasant, but otherwise it was just below average.
Debbie Marasigan
Food was delicious. Staff is excellent! Love the atmosphere.
Augusta Bryant
Oh my God. The best food i have ever eaten. Plus the service was excellent. Plus me and my family didn't have to wait 30 minutes or more to be waited on and seated. I will definitely be going back. Thanks New Orleans 👍👍👍 …
robert biron
Food was between OK and good. Prices very high. Two people, Lobster tail and grilled red fish with lobster bisque & gator bites for appetizers (No Drinks) $90.00. Lobster bisque was good but NOT the lobster bisque you normally get. My only description would be it's kind of like a Cajun lobster bisque. Lobster tail (2 tails) were about the 6 oz size. They were OK but lacked any real sweetness you normally taste with lobster. Huge loaded baked potato done just right. Good Jazz musician.
Susan Jones
This place was so quiet, but we came in around 5pm. The food was EXCELLENT!!!. Filet mignon cooked to perfection, Appetizer, I had stuffed mushrooms, husband had Cajun nuggets. Absolutely wonderful. Came here last year, excellent then too. Best meal we've had in Nola. Laurie, our waitress, GREAT!!! Don't miss this place
Jeromy Graham
For a steak place, the food was great, the service was great and everything was reasonably priced. I could have done without the lobster tail, but the New York strip and the filet mignon were excellent.
Ryan Guerriero
Came down to nola for a long weekend and wanted to find a more local place for dinner. Food was great. Blackened ribeye was one of the best Ive had in a while. Good music too. Staff was nice, kept drinks full. Food had great local flavor with good prices. Only issue was the server forgot to put in an order of jambalaya so it came out late. Other then that it was a great restaurant. Would definitely go back.
ladyslmn
The food was delicious. We were greeted at in a timely fashion at the door. The manager that has been there for 17 years had to be our waitress because a no show of a waitress and she executed the role. Great table service
Kristi Bush
ENORMOUS burger and fries at a great price!
Anita Mcdonald
We were greeted and seated by a wonderful gentleman who was prompt in recommendat ions and getting us the best meal true to New Orleans. Great service and the steak perfectly cooked. Those potatoes with a cream sauce topped with bacon and chives were awesome. The BBQ shrimp was delicious. Atmosphere true to New Orleans. Highly reccomend for food, service and cost.
Chris Murphy
Bartender is a jewel and the location is perfect. Be kind to your bar staff!
Kelly Bonds
We stopped in after seeing the special board outside but it was so dark in dreary from street we almost passed it by. The waitstaff quickly greeted us and we were brought our drink order within minutes. Our waiter went over the specials and we both selected tasty sounding options- hubby got then ribeye and I ordered the new Orleans Trio. It came with salads and fresh bread as well. Two other couples came in while were there and al complimented chef when he came out. The couple behind us got engaged while we were there and the patrons helped celebrate with them and helped take pics of them! The bread pudding the brought as part of the special was tasty and a huge portion! They need to rethink the outside sign as it is not truly appealing and might actually hurt their business ... but those that come in will be pleasantly surprised by this NOLA hidden treasure.
Ronald Musacchia
Was a little chaotic at 8:00 pm. Sat at the bar, had a drink, enjoyed the NO atmosphere, conversed with "Joey", it was fun!
Tuna appetizer was excellent, stuffed mushrooms good. Medium rare filet with bernaise - very good. Music was a bit loud, but fit the atmosphere, service - very good. Our party of 4 enjoyed the meal and will be back!
Isaac Salas
The food is ok, not great like we expected while visiting new Orleans. Server seemed disoriented and had a bit of an attitude. Bartender was great.
Nic Côté
I'm always scepitcal when restaurants display their food outside and have someone trying to lure you in.
At first, I really didn't think it was s good choice, seemed like a weird old bar/ restaurant with bad decor.
Our waitress really went out of her way to make us feel welcomed and I liked that the chef at the end even stopped by to say hi.
I really enjoyed the messy bbq shrimps but the steak was pretty low quality. They give you parmesan butter bread for your meal.
They also gave us a free order of spinach and a great desert.
Would I go back...nope but I appreciate the efforts made and maybe this might be up someone else's alley.
Charles Zelbst
If you aren't looking you will walk past the entrance. It is not a fancy establishment, modest furnishings, but good service, a respectful bar, food is very good. We had the lobsters for two, price was reasonable, not at all crowded, we would go back next time we are in NOLA.
Beckie Kennedy
We LOve this place! It's full of local color. The lobster dinner is outstanding....the cream spinach hmmmm great. The wait staff has always been wonderful and s large part of the atmosphere. The bartender makes this drink called the blackberry or black cherry and peach monitor... My new favorite drink! Oh and the bread pudding is the best. I highly recommend this place!
Ashley V Thurman (Avanessa)
The blackened catfish and grits was wonderful! Also, the bar-b-que shrimp and grits and vegetarian omelet were yummy as well I was told!
Daniel Davis
We found Estrella after the concierge at our hotel recommended two other steakhouses that were far more expensive and didn't have what we wanted to eat without cobbling together something from steak and various side dishes that did not come with the steak. Estrella had what we wanted and we were even surprised by additional options that were specials not listed on the menu. The staff was extremely attentive and added special touches to our meal. The live music was very good, and the musician played multiple instruments and varied the music. Chef Frederick came to our table twice to check on our satisfaction with the meal. The steak was cooked to order and delicious. The barbequed shrimp was so good it nearly knocked me over. We wouldn't even let them take the dish the barbequed shrimp was cooked in, in case we wanted to dip some of our steak, which we did. The crawfish etoufee was the best we'd eaten in the French Quarter. And, the bartenders made a proper up Manhattan, also delicious.
tony poche
This place is AWESOME!!! Food is EXCELLENT!!! Service is also EXCELLENT!! If you want a nice cozy place for dinner??? This is one of my favorites...live soft misic too. You can listen to the music and still hold a conversation. The steaks are to die for and the lobster is outstanding! No one does it better!!!!!!!
Geneviève Patterson
Absolutely liked everything. Wasn’t supposed to go there at first place and never heard of it before . When I saw they were serving Alfredo pasta with shrimps and crab nugget , I just got it and couldn’t be more happier. It was perfect. Plus I had the cucumber basil lemon drink , one of the House spécialités . Greetings from Montreal and special thanks to Bri ❤️🙏🏻✌️🤟🏻
Jessica de la Luna
We cut the steak with a butter knife and it melted in our mouths. Best food I've had. Go there!!
Lauri Hauru
Went there to eat a non-fancy dinner, and ordered surf and turf. Fortunately there was no loud music, Brits abroad or other kalabalik. The decor is a bit cheesy and the place is dark like some watering hole, so this doesn't exactly suggest haute cuisine. But, I was positively surprised about the food, even if it was rather simple. First, I was served a loaf of bread, airy and light, topped with butter and parmesan. Then, while not a lobster expert, the lobster was tender and flavorful. The steak was cooked medium as I wanted, but was a bit oversalted. Didn't like the shrimp as much, a bit too strong flavors, although de gustibus non est disputandum. Service was good, the waitress checked me a couple of times and the glass of water was kept full. The price was not cheap, I paid $60. Overall, this is more than you would expect from a bistro, but not there yet if it aims to be a fine restaurant. It would be a good place to go eat some casual dinner.
Rosie Perry
I ordered the prime rib and my husband had the hamburger and we shared the loaded fries. We were absolutely loved it. We had live entertainment and great service. We would definitely go back.
R P
Very very good! We had the stuffed fillets. I've had steaks that you could cut with a fork before but never one that could be pulled apart with a fork. Awesome steak with a creole seafood filling.
Jessica Rivera
The people who work here were so sweet and friendly. I like them more than I liked my food but my food was pretty good too!
Karen Freeman
So goid! Staff is fun bartender's a trio, manager works the floor, too. We had a jar of body glitter and before we left, every staff member, including the manager was sparkling in gold! Loved it!
Lindsey Fetner
Food was subpar and under seasoned. You can tell its frozen and canned, not fresh. The saving grace is the bar. Drinks are spectacular. I highly recommend the black cherry peach mojito!
Ann Courtney
Fun, hole-in-the-wall casual restaurant with fun, attentive servers. Short menu combining New Orleans seafood favorites with other choices. Steaks were perfectly cooked. Very strong drinks!
Anthony Bannwart
Good food and a great atmosphere! We came here last year and called ahead this time to ask them to save us the same booth in the back. Not only did they save it for us, but the owner, Amir, gave us the red carpet treatment. After a great evening and a bottle of wine, we asked Amir to call us a cab. He got us the cab, personally walked us out, and told the cabbie to take care of us. Good people!
Jane Hogue
Y’all will be looked after. The bar tenders are so genuine. Definitely stop by!
Taylor Entell
I will never forget this place. We stumbled upon this place our first night in Nola. It was slow getting the food, but that's a plus in my eyes... Everything was being made fresh to order. Everyone in our party ordered something different, so we all shared bites. I ordered filet mignon, and it was good, but standard. The shrimp and grits were the best we had - better than what we had at Emiril's. They were perfectly creamed and the flavor of the shrimp left your mouth watering. THE RIBEYE. Oh my god, THE RIBEYE. A year later, and it's still the one steak I crave. When I think, "I'm craving steak," I'm actually craving this steak. I had one bite, and ended up eating half of my mom's plate. Perfectly cooked medium-rare. Melted like butter in my mouth. I was full, but I couldn't stop eating it. The gator balls with the roumelade were a memorable dish as well. I cannot wait to go back to New Orleans, just to eat here again.
Lakieta Spear
The places originally scared me.....the steak was good, the shrimp I had was real fishy and had a after taste. It wasn't too bad. I was visiting from Detroit MI
Jude Faour
Despite looking like a bar from the outside, being busy with people coming in and out, it is quite spacious on the inside with great food and great service. The owner even hung out with us for a while and invited us for drinks, unfortunately we were in a hurry to catch the sights. Thank you!
Harley Dree (The Hudson Path)
Fun atmosphere with a lovely staff! Pleasant quick stop in the mix of all the parade fun.
Jacob Joraanstad
To be honest my new fiancé, Kelsey, and I were on our way to a different restaurant for dinner and asked a worker from another local restaurant where we should go and he immediately said Estrella's. We wandered over and it has been by far the best experience we've had here yet. We were immediately greeted by the owner, Amir. I was in the mood for some seafood gumbo and Kelsey does not like seafood so she asked what they had for options. He said they could make her whatever she wanted. One of their burgers caught here eye but then she had a special request because she likes her burgers very smashed and flat. Amir did not bat and eyelash and as he was saying they could do that, his head chef walked by so Amir told him about the unusual request and he seemed happy to do it. The gumbo was best I've had in the NOLA and Kelsey was very happy with the burger. The atmosphere was incredible. They had a live musician playing jazz in the background. I can't even begin to describe how great the experience was. We felt like we were the only ones in there but at the same time were overjoyed every time where heard Amir clanking a spoon on a plate to get everyone's attention to make an announcement of what other patrons were celebrating. One table was celebrating a wedding, one just found out they were pregnant, and we had just got engaged. While in the bathroom Kelsey asked about a desert menu and Amir asked if he could surprise us and she said yes and I'm sure glad she did. He brought out a beautiful plate that had samples bread pudding, cheesecake, and a piece of chocolate cake. The bread pudding was our favorite followed closely by the cheesecake and the chocolate cake. A trip to the NOLA will never happen again without going to Estrella's. I hope if you ever dine in this gem that you have the pleasure of doing so while Amir is present. His hospitality is unmatched.
Ashley Kaye Hayes
The food was just okay—a little expensive considering. The service was really top notch.
Try the lyonnaise potatoes and crab cakes. They were the best dishes of everything I sampled.
Faith Kievit
Drinks not that great..but the food was really good.
Yvonne liu
Food was good. Service was slow and not that good.
Jason Parks
Just alright. It was a slow night so maybe that was the problem. Service took forever. Potatoes were cold. Steak was cooked well and the stuffed mushrooms were delicious, bringing some redemption.
Paul B.
The service is amazing! Amir, Frederick and everyone made our experience perfect. The steak was cooked perfectly. We will be coming here every visit!!
Mai Edwards
So we had the GROUPON deal....lets just say they don't want you to use this. They first do not tell you they add on fees for using them. When we asked the waitress SARA about this then she had a major attitude and started yelling "if you want to give me a $5 tip then I can just give it to the bar tender." First of all we were not only giving her a $5 tip we were giving her the remainder of the money for our bill which was $25 for the additional $22 owed in the folder with the bill. Where I am from then you leave the tip for the waitress on the table and not with the bill or hand it to the waitress, which is what I was going to do. She was getting real nasty and my husband who likes to prevent conflict encouraged me not to, but I HAD to get back with her because I am not sure who she thought she was talking to us in that manner. I told her she should never be a waitress again and should be fired on the spot because that is no way to provide service and just to assume that the amount we gave for the bill was just her tip (considering we were still sitting at the table and handing her a $20 bill starting the hand it to her when she started all of this for her tip). I am sorry if other GROUPNERS do not tip, but just because you have one doesn't mean you cant tip. We use GROUPON to try new restaurants that we otherwise would not think of, not to rip off waitresses. Aside from the nasty attitude of SARA who should NEVER waitress again....I can say that the manager and the host who we interacted with were pleasant along with the bartender. The food was pretty good along with the jazz musician for the night who we tipped $50 for his god music. Loved the old New Orleans atmosphere. SARA YOU SHOULD BE FIRED!!! And you need to grow up and never work as a waitress in any restaurant again. This is coming from someone who often tries hard to help others advance their careers and would usually never want someone fired.
Tom Richard
Great Restaurant - fantastic Ambience and the staff is wonderful. The steak and seafood is out of this world! WE really enjoyed this place
Al Bujold

Angelo Nardini
Almost seemed like instant coffee but surely that's impossible
Leroy Worrells
Best steak & lobster in town. Our server Chris, was very good & entertaining!
Ethan Mcclendon
Awesome place and I recommend the Boudain balls. The bahma mamas are awesome
Jimmy Smith
Hidden Gem of New Orleans. I was treated like family (one of the family members they love not one of those family members that complains about everything when they come to visit and everyone groans because they know that person never has a good day in their life} Entire meal was great. I eat my food I don't spend time analysing it. Drinks were better than great and if you don't stop in just to have a Cucumber Basil Lemonade something is wrong with your head. Sneak in a perfect portion of pecan pie. It will put a smile in your tummy.
Chris Longstaff
Ok food, not bad, but didn't stand out. Reasonably priced.
David Casey
Amer was one of the kindest people we met in our time in New Orleans! Great food and good company. Would 100% come back to this place.
Sydney C
My husband and I have been to Star Steak and Lobster twice. Once on our honeymoon last year and earlier this year. We are planning a trip for this weekend and will visit again! Our trips to NOLA will always include Star Steak and Lobster from now on. We have gone both times with a Groupon deal and have had no trouble. The servers and staff at Star Steak and Lobster are always friendly and the food is incredible! We have recommended Star Steak and Lobster to several friends and family members. We love the relaxed atmosphere and live music. Groupon or no Groupon, this is a must on any list for a New Orleans trip!
Ivan Pierce
My favorite spot in the quarter to have a steak. I have been eating here for many years and look forward to getting back to town to enjoy the blackened ribeye, baked oyster combo and a great wine. If you haven't been here...you owe it to yourself to go.
Samantha Sweet
This was my favorite place to visit while in New Orleans! The staff was so fun and made our experience amazing. The food was delicious!
Laura Dantin
I was very skeptical since it was downtown and not as fancy looking as other restaurants. The service was great, and the food was fantastic!! So glad we took a chance and went in!
Radka Michalkova
We absolutely enjoyed food there, if you are looking for authentic home made kitchen food then you have to go for it. Don't forget to bring your cash and wine. They don't accept credit cards and don't sell alcohol.
Keffany Bailey
Very good food and the price.. omg it's not expensive at all... Go for their 3 course meal special between 4-7pm. Excellent choice! You won't be disappointed!
Noah Tonk
Incredible lobster. The Lobster for Two is an amazing deal, with two lobsters, two salads, two sides, and a generous helping of delicious bread pudding for $49.99. Their lobster bisque is to die for. Only reason it wasn't a 5 is because they didn't have any alcohol due to a liquor license transition.
c mon man
I am a visitor to NOLA and ate here. The food was super good. The waitress was super nice and very friendly. I can't wait to go back.
Vincent Kohlheim

Anthony Tucker
It was aight food was good but didn't come out fast enough my steak wasnt off the grill hot or even close I almost sent it back ...waitress was ok but is obviously accustomed to ppl sticking to the menu..if I give you my order that's what I want just charge me accordingly dont tell me what I can't have if it's on the menu ...my BlackBerry peach mojito was watered down to say the least the best part of the experience was the elderly gent at the front door whatever they pay him they should double it .

Sierra Johnson
Yes, I must say this will be a great place to visit if your in New Orleans ..Great service and Great food . Staff was everything..

Looks a little like a dive because of the bar at the front. However, the steaks and baked potato were as good as any I've had at a steakhouse in the midwest, no steak sauce reqd.
Michael Stacey
Great food, excellent atmosphere. The owner personally makes sure every guest is enjoying their evening.
Jen Aaron
