Reviews of Elysian Seafood
First off- super friendly staff! They were all making conversation with us and very upbeat and fun. The food was really good too! We got a cup of gumbo and a cup of ettoufee. Would definitely recommend this place for some good local eats!
Top notch crawfish étouffée! Rich crawfish-favored, and so far the most crawfish meat-loaded étouffée ever seen. As I was a kid grown up from a harbor area, guarantee this seafood place is fresh and delicious.
Reading other review recommendations, we therefore ordered some oysters as well. Super cleaned and fresh, no regrets!
Located inside St Roch Market, there are some nice looking dishes. I got the gulf coast fish with roasted vegetables. It was perfection.
The food at Elysian is terrific; fresh, perfectly prepared and perfectly seasoned. And the service is over the top great. 10/10 recommend.
Creative menu items, fresh seafood, and great service. What more needs to be said. Check this place out for lunch.
Service felt a little weird/awkward. But the food was great. We got the trinity, which consisted of three ramekin sized samples of red beans and rice; crawfish etoufee; and gumbo. We also got the blackened shrimp po boy. Shared all of this between me and my husband and it was the perfect amount to be able to try many different things but was also filling. Would come back!
Took a shot and got the crawfish and sausage po boy and it was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. I wasn’t sure what to think by the look of it but it was AMAZING.
A great place. Its inside a food market. Oysters and ceviche… delicious!!!
Creative delicious menu with great staff. Shrimp Remolade salad was amazing. And the oysters!!!
Can't wait to go back and try everything else.
Happy hours great, but be consistent. Showed up specifically for 4-7 happy hour, and was told now it's till 6, despite being listed online as the former. I wanted to unwind after a hard day but found it hard based on that nonsense
We learned about the market before arriving in NOLA and went there to try. The experience was superb, we decided for Elysium Sea Food because they had crab cake on the board menu. It was really great!!, very well prepared, tasty and excellent side components. It is good to know that there are decent and very good chefs everywhere. We love to support local entrepreneurs and we are gladly surprised most of the time. Excellent option in the lovely New Orleans. Nidia and Daniel, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Nice, fast service. Crab cakes were meaty, little filler. Oysters were fresh & tasty. Ceviche bright & clean. Marinated crab claws could've used more spice. Shrimp were clean & fresh.
Fresh flavors and awesome tastes. Have eaten there a few times and am always more than satisfied. You will not be disappointed. You need to try the Coconut Curry Shrimp. The Crab Cake is delicious. Well worth the trip.
This place ordinarily is really good but the customer service is abysmal. Today, after sitting down and waiting five minutes for someone to even acknowledge me and one employee was arrogant enough to take a personal cell phone call in front of me while I was still waiting. So, the food is good but you will likely have to be prepared to be patient
New guy doing the shucking, Isaiah. With the same amazing experience. Great food and great company. This time I got the HH oysters and went to work. As we're eating Isaiah is engaging us. Telling jokes as well as telling is which places to go try in the Market.
Every time I'm on N.O. I have to visit this place. I love it.
Order: Coconut Curry Gulfport Shrimp over rice
Price: $12
Pros: Shrimp was amazing, best shrimp I've ever had
Cons: The curry sauce to the actual dish was good but not as flavorful as I would have liked
Thoughts: At the same time we ate out shrimp and grits from Fete au Fete we got a dish from Elysian Seafood and decided to split them. I don’t think my wife has ever had head-on shrimp and while it took her off guard at first she loved it once she dug in, and this shrimp was incredible. Large, juicy, succulent, freshly caught gulf port shrimp….dear lord, it really was unbelievably good.
While I would have been content to eat just a massive bowl of this shrimp the coconut curry sauce that came with it was just a little “weak”. I don’t want to say it was bland because it definitely has some good flavors, but it almost seemed like it got a bit watered down after it hit the perfect level of seasoning. I’m not sure if we just came close enough to closing that we got what was left of the “batch” but it left me wishing the coconut curry flavor was a little stronger. Regardless the shrimp was just stupid good and the overall dish was still delicious.
The food here is amazingly delicious. The blackened catfish poboy was great, mouthwatering spices to die for. Also the coconut curry gulf shrimp was just right, a wonderful blend of New Orleans spices, the large was just emogh for two, but if you are hungry for NOLA type food you might want to get your own.
This past winter we had the best oysters of our lives here and kept coming back. This past week the service was seriously awful at the oyster bar and the person working seemed completely inadequate for the job at hand. The oysters were full of sand and weak. Only giving three stars for how seriously good it was in January.
Okay, so you’re looking for a review that’s honest and realistic. Here is is: it’s good. If you’re staying in the 7th ward, which is mostly
Marigny (pronounced Mawr-in-knee) it’s a great spot. what you’ll want to order is the charbroiled oysters to get a feel for the area, and the shrimp. Many people will tell you to hit up this area to see how it is. Marigny is a young, hip area with many locals who are just making a living. They’re really people. Elysian in saint roch is delicious and you won’t be upset with eating there. The cook who makes your food is good at what he does, so if he takes a bit of extra time to make your food, don’t be discouraged, it’s worth it. Enjoy those charbroiled oysters for the first time and be amazed!
Came for lunch with a friend and wish I had ordered from here after tasting her po-boy! Do yourself a favor and order the crawfish and sausage po-boy you won't regret it!!
One of my favorite meals I had over a week in New Orleans. The specials are creative, unique, delicious and fairly priced. Highly recommend, and in general it's hard to go wrong in that market.
It was just okay. Don't eat here if you're really hungry. Portions were meager. My lox sandwich was unremarkable and the burnt bread didn't help. I tried my friend's crawfish cakes and potato hash, which were decent enough.
Coconut Shrimp Curry was great! Lots of flavor & well-cooked shrimp. Definitely try the Satsuma Lemonade!
Great food, great counter team! Thanks!
Delightful! I Especially recommend the alligator sausage hash.
Oysters were delicious and affordable. The guy shucking them was getting worked hard but clearly a pro.
Nice oyster selection. Two happy hours. In a great market.
Crab cake is delicious. Fast and friendly service.
Neat space, large room with small merchants. Worth a pop-by.
Really good, fresh shucked oysters.
Best Oysters! So fresh
The gator hash was amazing!
Happy is hour is great
Fantastic.
Seafood gumbo was unbelievable. Some of the best I’ve had in New Orleans. The staff was 10/10 nicest sweetest people I’ve met. Will be back!
