It's a Catholic church on federal land. No food or service to be provided other than maybe Catholic church services of which were not in progress at the time of our visit. But absolutely beautiful and a must-see. Try to inform yourself of its origins. You may appreciate it even more so.

The food here is really good. The service can sometimes leave a lot to be desired. Overall, I would still recommend this location. Just be prepared to have to initiate contact with your waitresses for refills, additional orders, and more. During this visit I ordered the Italian Sausage Flatbread (pictured below), the lunch order of spaghetti and meatballs, and a Shrimp Diavolo to go. The spaghetti and meatballs was still a large enough portion to be full from. You receive (2) meatballs, and a Ceasar salad on one plate. The flatbread appetizer was huge too.

My meal was so huge it lasted me 2 days! I got the Diavolo with chicken. Spicy and full of veggies on angel hair. A thick, filling, delicious meal. We sat at the bar since the available tables were occupied according to social distance standards. Our server was very sweet and she explained that they make all of their bread in house, including the pizza crust. A pizza is next on my list!

I gave it 5 stars because of my personal customer service experience there. Mrs Candice/Candace? had a very refreshing personality, always smiled, and made sure to give her guests waited on the best of herself. I also took delight in their reasonably priced lunch specials, oh and the variety of appetizers to select from as well. All around good food and good experience.

Okay, yeah. Unintentional drop in, was in the area. But this place was amazing. Their lunch special has so many options and judging by how great the build-your-own calzone was I have no doubt everything else is good too. Even their flavored tea was so much more than just tea that you could sort of tell tastes like fruit, their mango tea actually tasted like mango (and tea). Finish all that off with their tiramisu and you're having a good day.

I've never had a bad meal or experience here. I work near by and eat here probably once a month. The food is great and the prices reasonable, especially the lunch menu. Their bread, I think, is baked in-house and it is used on their sandwiches, making them very good. This bread comes with the salads also as bread sticks.

We like the food but struggle with the staff trying to close early. We arrived one hour prior to the closing time of 8. Half of the tables already had the chairs stacked on top. The stacked chairs gives the impression the restaurant is about to close and create a feeling of being rushed. The staff is always pleasant but we can never anticipate when they will begin shutting down. We live in the area and try to support our local businesses, but this is a challenge

We love going here for lunch during the workday. The servers here always make our order right, and even though they stopped putting a few things on the menu years ago, they still make them for us if we ask. We never have to ask for drink refills and our food is always delicious! I definitely recommend this place.

Their pizza is top notch! We ordered their Margherita Pizza and their Hawaiian pizza. Both came out quickly even though literally every seat in the place was filled. The staff was friendly and worked hard to keep up with all their tables. Their full bar is great and their soft drinks selection is out of this world. If you happen to save room for dessert then you won't be disappointed! Oh! People 55+ get the lunch menu all the time Everytime! Yeah!!

East of Italy has an attractive, neat, and clean exterior and interior, with an outdoor seating area, decorated with many potted plants. We ordered two children's plates, I had the Spaghetti & Meatballs and my lunch mates ordered Eggplant Shrimp Parmesan. We found the food filling, well seasoned, and delicious. The entrees came with salad & bread sticks. Service was quite nice and efficient. This place is recommended by us, and we would return. RJT

I am giving 5 stars because I love their spaghetti sauce. I despise sweet red gravy/spaghetti sauce, and theirs is not sweet at all. It also has lots of flavor. I do not often get spaghetti and meatballs, but when I do want some this is where I know I can get it. My wife had chicken parmesan, and it was great, too.

The food was amazing but the service was subpar. We waited an entire hour to receive our meal when we were in the restaurant long before most of the people there. Our waitress was condescending when we inquired about the delay. She later came back and said because there was only 4 burners they moved around the orders. We had to ask for our side salad because no one brought them out. Overall it was not a pleasant experience but again the food was absolutely delicious!

This establishment offers comfort, relaxing atmosphere and courteous service. I ordered an appetizer that arrived shortly thereafter and it remained hot throughout my enjoying the meal. It has been some time since I frequent did this establishment but the visit did not disappoint.

Food is usually very good, and prices are decent. Servings are nicely sized, and most of the staff are friendly. However there are some management that yell at the staff across the kitchen very loudly. This is very unprofessional and is the biggest detractor for the restaurant.

Solid pseudo-Italian spot in Gentilly. Like their Salmon dish and the kalamari. Good inexpensive food when you are looking for something quick in Gentilly. Not very authentic Italian, but hey neither is bravos or olive garden.

I was here by myself and had the freshest dinner in this zip code near the university of new orleans. My server Anna had excellent "server intuition" when it comes to reading the guests mind before they have to flag the server down. Would not expect a nice place in this area of new orleans.
