Reviews of Desire Oyster Bar

Food was delicious. My first time having oysters and they were great. I sat near the guy cooking the oyster and he was sort of our waitperson. He was friendly and gave a great suggestion since it was my first time trying oysters. The alligator was perfect and the sauce they put on was a little sweet but good. Catfish poboy was great as well.

Cool swanky place to chill on bourbon. Service was really slow and pretty bad. Oysters were just OK. However, the fried buffalo oysters with blue cheese! Oh snap those were hands down absolutely delicious! Drink 🍸 was decent, wasn't anything remarkable. Finding nice bathrooms on Burbon can be challenging, this place has wonderful clean restrooms. So probably worth a stop for a drink or appetizers if you needed to use one.

Absolutely the best char broiled oysters in all of New Orleans. Host and wait staff very friendly and in tune with their patrons needs. If you haven’t tried desire oyster bar what are you waiting for?

While enjoying drinks at the bar next door to here (Le Booze) we asked the bartender for a recommendation last minute on a Friday. He said you can’t go wrong with Desire .. so that’s what we did.
Service from start to finish was amazing — only sorry I didn’t catch anyone’s. name. Food was delicious!! (Although the fresh oysters after being shucked had slivers of the shell left inside which we probably could have done without)
Having said that — everything else made up for that! Service, food, price — definitely recommend!

This is one place we had to wait in line for and I kind of regret doing that for this restaurant. We ordered the two sets of Char Grilled Oysters and they were burnt to a crisp for the first order and the second order was amazing! I would have given this place one less star if both were terrible. We also ordered some shrimp and Gator Bites to take home... The peel and eat shrimp were not very impressive but the Gator Bites were really good! One thing that we did notice was that several tables around us ordered PoBoys and left them uneaten on the table... So maybe don't order a sandwich while you are here?

We came for lunch with a larger group and tried both 'oysters on the half shell' as well as 'char grilled rocking oysters'. Rocking was worth a try but the raw oysters on half shell was better. Service was a bit slow. Atmosphere was very relaxed at lunchtime, although could have used a bit of sound or music on the speakers. All in all, quite decent and I would come again

The food was amazing but the service was really bad. We went during a non-peak time so not many table but our sever would never return to fill out waters (95 degrees outside) and would never take away our empty plates until after we left. Food was still good though.

We stopped in as our last visit before we left New Orleans. We were just there to get their bread pudding as it was recommended to us by a local. They seemed fairly busy and when we initially sat in the restaurant we were not greeted for over 15 minutes. So we went to the bar to get bread pudding quickly because we had to go. I understand they were busy. The bread pudding was well worth the wait! I highly recommend.

Service was great. Food was average in my opinion and not quite up to the price charged. The seafood gumbo was tasty though. On the other hand, it is Bourbon St.
